- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30So, I think if you've listened to me for any amount of time,
- 0:34you know how I have a just absolute love in my heart for
- 0:38dr. Wayne Dyer.
- 0:39He was one of my most favorite speakers that I ever had the
- 0:42pleasure of working with and listening to and learning from.
- 0:46I mean, the man was just tremendous on many, many levels
- 0:50one of his quotes, which is just had such an influence on my
- 0:54life. I want to share with you today.
- 0:57What other people think of me is none of my business One of the
- 1:01highest places you can get to is being independent of the good
- 1:05opinion of other people. So pause, and think about that
- 1:09for a second. How many of us are driven by the
- 1:13good opinion of other people, what got me thinking about, this
- 1:16was some studying that I'm doing and influence and persuasion and
- 1:24there's a whole thing about how we thrive on the idea of likes
- 1:30and how we all are just focused on the like mentality and how
- 1:35because we are so driven as human beings to have other
- 1:39people like us. That's what social media
- 1:43actually uses on us. It wants us to see the little
- 1:47heart, the little like button, the little thumbs up, and it
- 1:51makes us feel like, oh, wow, people like me, but really was
- 1:57like, haunting me ever, since I read all this about it and I was
- 2:00like, wow. Okay, so because I never
- 2:02actually put it together that you know, I know what social
- 2:05media does in the psychology behind it, but I'd never put it
- 2:08together that there was this whole human part of it that was
- 2:12all about the like factor and how because we want someone to
- 2:16like us, that's what's happening in the coast.
- 2:19So when I heard that I was like, wow, I can't believe I never put
- 2:22that together and then I started thinking about Wayne Dyer in the
- 2:25good opinion of other people. And I said, you know what, I
- 2:27just have to share this with everybody because we Get so hung
- 2:31up on what other people think about us.
- 2:33We forget to say, I have to be in check about what I think
- 2:37about myself and how I'm going to have myself focus on for a
- 2:44day, or a moment, whatever it might be.
- 2:47But I can't be worried about what other people are constantly
- 2:50thinking. I have to be worried about what
- 2:51I'm thinking because that's just not the right thing to do to be
- 2:55focused on what other people are thinking and how much it takes
- 2:58us away from. The the good parts of ourselves.
- 3:03So when you start to think about this and you start to really
- 3:08take in what he said in that, quote, when you really start to
- 3:12think about that particular quote and you start to, you
- 3:15know, look at it from the perspective of what other people
- 3:19think of me is none of my business.
- 3:23Wow, that is powerful. It doesn't matter what people
- 3:27think of you and I have to say, I really do.
- 3:30Do subscribe to this ever since I heard it years ago.
- 3:35I was like, you know, that's so true.
- 3:38There was a time in my life when I got hung up and worried about
- 3:40what other people thought of me and it created.
- 3:43So much anxiety in my life to be liked and to be thought of as
- 3:49someone that people could trust or work with or whatever it
- 3:54might be. That I forgot to focus on who I
- 3:57wanted to be as a person when I Let Go.
- 4:00Of that. For the most part, I will say,
- 4:02listen, I do want my husband to have an opinion and give that to
- 4:09me. I want my husband to like, who I
- 4:11am as a person because he is a trusted advisor in my world.
- 4:17He was right behind me. I want my children to look up
- 4:22and say, hey, I'm proud of the person that she is, but other
- 4:26than that, I will tell even tell my son.
- 4:28Now, it doesn't matter that you don't like me, right?
- 4:30This moment because it's more important that I'm your parent.
- 4:33And I think it's so critically important to keep putting those
- 4:36things in perspective for ourselves because if we don't,
- 4:41we're just going to keep going through this cycle of worrying
- 4:45over and over and over what people think of us.
- 4:47And it doesn't give us a healthy environment internally to live
- 4:51and Thrive and be. So I'm going to challenge you
- 4:54guys to really start thinking about this and saying I am I
- 4:58living off of the good opinion of Other people I might just
- 5:02allowing them to dictate all this for me or am I doing the
- 5:06right thing? And reconsidering my ability to
- 5:13let so much stuff in my checking in with myself.
- 5:15And say you know what, I'm just not going to let this stuff in
- 5:18anymore. This is ridiculous, not letting
- 5:20this stuff in my head anymore. I'm not going to pay any
- 5:23attention to it and I'm not going to give it any Credence.
- 5:26So ask yourself that question and really Disconnect from the
- 5:31good opinion of other people. Because unless there are a
- 5:34trusted advisor and you know that they are neutral and giving
- 5:37you the facts, you probably shouldn't be looking at it.
- 5:40So I hope you guys have a very blessed day and I will see you
- 5:44tomorrow. Bye.
- 5:30Disconnect from the good opinion of other people.
- 5:32Because unless there are a trusted advisor and you know
- 5:36that they are neutral and giving you the facts, you probably
- 5:39shouldn't be looking at it. So I hope you guys have a very
- 5:42blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 5:45Bye.
