- 2:00time now for today's episode of the Case Book of Gregory Hood. Today's episode
- 2:05is entonnled South of the Border Tonight. The Petrie family, the family that
- 2:16took time to bring you good wine, invite you to listen to the story
- 2:22South of the Border, another exciting adventure from the Case Book of Gregory Hood.
- 2:28And I'd like to ask you if you know one sure way to turn
- 2:30a simple meal into a regular feast, just serve that meal with a good
- 2:35Petrie dinner wine. Let's say Petrie California Burgundy. Petri Burgundy, you know,
- 2:40is the perfect companion for any kind of meat or meat dish. It's
- 2:45a red wine just as rich in flavor as it is in colored And if
- 2:49you want to know how really good it is, serve that Petri Burgundy with
- 2:53a hamburger cook the way you like it, tender delicious, Or try that
- 2:58Petri Burgundy with a savory beef stew with pork chops. And of course,
- 3:02if you can wangle it. Try Patrick Burgundy with a thick, juicy steak.
- 3:07Ah, believe me, that's eating eating, That's well, that's out
- 3:12of this world. And believe me, patri Burgundy is a wine that's clear,
- 3:15fragrant, and delicious, a wine that you can serve your friends proudly
- 3:20of that you can be sure. Remember those five letters P, E,
- 3:23T R I. They spell the proudest name in the long history of fine
- 3:29wine. Well, it's Monday night in San Francisco and we have a date
- 3:51with Gregory Hood and his friend Sanderson Taylor. Tonight's rendezvous is at Gregory's apartment
- 3:55high on knob Hill and overlooking the Golden Gate. Let's join in, man
- 4:00we Harry Bartell, how are you aiding? Sandy? Where's Gregory? Can't
- 4:08you hear him? Oh? Hello, Harra aiding Gregg. That sounds well.
- 4:15He's nice, isn't it here? Latest composition? Oh this is mine,
- 4:18Harry? I which it were? This is one of Richard Comp's compositions.
- 4:24He goes in to him, per pc broken heart. Seems to me
- 4:28he is something of a rival of yours. Greg He's a famous importer,
- 4:30and now it turns out he's an amateur composer of distinction too. Yes,
- 4:33Harry, but don't imagine there's any rivalry between him. They're the best of
- 4:36friends. Oh, there's distinct rivalry between us. On the golf course,
- 4:40Sandy, you played this afternoon. If I hadn't hooked my drive on the
- 4:44thirteenth, that's where I'd have beaten him. Oh. On the way home,
- 4:46he took me by a store and gave me a private showing of his
- 4:48wonderful collection of stere ben glads. It's a must on your list, Harry.
- 4:53I'll go there tomorrow now. Greg has a bounce with that story.
- 4:56It's coming right up, you see. Dick Gump and I work very closely
- 5:02in the importing business. On this particular occasion we crossed swords with a very
- 5:06slimy dealer by the name of Severn Stackpool. It was to Postall Stackpool that
- 5:11I decided recently to pry down to Mexico City. I'd heard that the Royal
- 5:15jade collection of Grosnia was for sale, so I decided to be in at
- 5:17the bidding on the ground floor. The Royal collection of Grosny and jade sounds
- 5:21pretty impressive, Greg, but and I don't want to fear stupid. Where
- 5:27is Grosney. It's one of the more obscure Balkan countries. The royal family,
- 5:30complete with the priceless jade collection, which four generations of Grosnyan rulers have
- 5:34been assembling, left the country and came to Mexico City. But I'll come
- 5:39to that in a moment. As soon as I heard about the jade collection,
- 5:42I naturally got in touch with Dick Gump. As you know, he
- 5:44has one of the finest collections of jade in the world. But Dick was
- 5:47tied up, so he arranged to purchase the stuff jointly. Sandy and I
- 5:50lost no time in hopping the next plain south. When we landed in Mexico
- 5:55City, it was one of those cool, fresh days, bright sun,
- 5:58but a very small, very very you know, Sandy, I haven't been
- 6:06to Mexico City for a couple of years. It's good to be back.
- 6:10It's a great spot. Yes, I've always liked it in a way.
- 6:12It isn't Mexican anymore than San Francisco is purely American. It's a city for
- 6:16citizens of the world, and very attractive. Some of those citizens are too.
- 6:23I wondered how long it would before you spotted that girl standing at the
- 6:26barrier. Oh no, she's coming over to us. Presly, girl,
- 6:30bring it to me. I beg your pardon, so you do not wish
- 6:33to speak girls Nian before your American friend? Very well, he would come
- 6:38with me. No, you're right, I'm afraid the answer is no.
- 6:41She spoke in Grossnian? Did you know we were coming about to Jay?
- 6:44I sent Count Pablau a wire. He's the official guardian of the royal collection.
- 6:47Are you an emissary of his young lady? I do not understand this
- 6:49talk of count problem, not ja. I only know that my orders are
- 6:54that you must come with me. Who gave you those orders? I cannot
- 6:57answer that question. Well, normally i'd be delighted to join you, but
- 7:00I'm here on urgent business. But if you'll give me your phone number,
- 7:02i'll call you when I'm in the clayar. Do not make phone at me.
- 7:05I'm going to make you come with me. I don't see how,
- 7:09darling. We're two great, big husky men and you're just a whisper for
- 7:12girl. Even if you're a judo expert, I think you'll find it's tough
- 7:15sledding. You will come with me alone? I rather think I will have
- 7:20said so long Sanday? Wait? Gregory, Hey, young lady, what
- 7:25do you want? Don't kill Sandy? You might conceivably lose control of the
- 7:29revolver that's fitted so snugly in my ribs. This is this is kidnapping and
- 7:35board day Lord, it's not possible. Where's your chauffeur driving us to the
- 7:51house of Prince Petrups somewhere else? Who is he? And why are we
- 7:55going there? You know as well as I do. It's not this mainly.
- 7:59You're right. Look, darling, you must have me mixed up with
- 8:01someone else. I've never heard of Prince Rosoul. My name is Gregory Hood
- 8:05and I'm an importer from San Francisco. You're still a playboy and thot?
- 8:09Are you not Grigoro? Sure, but I'm not your Grigoroo. By the
- 8:13way, what's your name? You know as well as your own? Yes,
- 8:16But as my name seems to be a matter for discussion, it would
- 8:20be simpler if you told me yours. My name is Maria Maria Crag and
- 8:24your nationality Maria? What game do you play? Gregoro? I am Grasny
- 8:28and of course, just as you are as I am. This begins to
- 8:31make Alice in Wonderland look like a who done it? Now? Listen,
- 8:35Mario, we arrive at Prince's house. Follow me and not tricks. Please,
- 8:41as you remember, I am not an amateur with a reverb. A
- 8:46Prince Hirsol is waiting at the door. He will be so happy to see
- 8:50you again. Gregoro, my dear dear boy, come in. I've been
- 8:56waiting your arrival with such anxiety. You mean you recognize me too? What
- 9:01rubbish are you talking? How could I fail to recognize you? Gregoru?
- 9:05I come in in, my boy, come in, and I have so
- 9:11much to tell you. We will go into my study. You wish me
- 9:15to say, Prince pearsoon. No, Maria, you may leave us.
- 9:18And you have done well my child. You brought him here most speedily.
- 9:22I'm pleased with you. Thank you. And now, my dear greg let
- 9:30me look at you. It warms my old heart to see you. You
- 9:35must allow me and embrace. Look, this is all very touching, but
- 9:39will you give me some faint idea of what goes? You have me kidnapped
- 9:43with the air. That's been me to have to do that. My dear
- 9:46gregorl but I could take no chances. You know how difficult it has been
- 9:50for me to handle you in the past. Let me ask you one simple
- 9:54question, Prince, who the heck do you think I am? Who should
- 10:00I think you are? I you're all and trusted, Prime minister, Prime
- 10:03minister? Should you be? But Gregoru the sixteenth hereditary King of Gostna.
- 10:22Lieutenant Baldez, how many times do I have to tell you my friend was
- 10:24kidnapped before my very eye for mister Taylor, how can you expect me to
- 10:28take your story here is perfectly true? My dear mister Taylor, I am
- 10:31interested in matters of criminalists. I know the activities in hood. I also
- 10:37have heard of his tall I say, his extracurricular activity. What do you
- 10:41mean, Lieutenant? He is not storious lady killer? I understand. What's
- 10:45that got to do with that? A great deal? I am sure you
- 10:48have told me he neglects his business to go up with a beautiful girl and
- 10:50then invents the absolutely theme story that he's being kidnapped. Should I concern myself
- 10:56or my men with your friend's love life? I insist that you try and
- 10:58locate Lieutenant appeals at the concert. I doubt that mister Hood will thank you
- 11:03for your interference. Now, mister Taylor, I'm afraid I must say goodbye
- 11:05to you. I have serious work to attend to. But Prince perrosol,
- 11:20I tell you my name is Gregory Hood. I'm an importer, and I
- 11:22live in San Francisco. Yes, we are used to your many ingenuous disguisers
- 11:28and alter egos. But the time has come when you can shirk your royal
- 11:33responsibilities. No longer. Your life as a playboy must finish. Oh so
- 11:39I've been a playboy. You have left the trail of broken hearts from Paris
- 11:43to Buenos Aires. That this must seize, Gregor. It's an unfortunate necessity
- 11:50of politics that the monarchist party must offer the people a monarch that Gregoro is
- 11:56why have you brought here? But how did you find me? I mean
- 11:58greg And of course you haven't found him. What I mean is what makes
- 12:03you think I am Hey? We knew you would come here to Mexbood City
- 12:07for a very good reason. A need raised in town. He's dancing at
- 12:11the Gatouasul. We know that for all your wanderings, you always return to
- 12:16her. I can see that I might have certain tastes in common with myself,
- 12:20But confedsoul, this game's gone far enough. It's a case of mistaken
- 12:24identity. Let me call the American Counsulate and prove to you who I am.
- 12:26No, Gregoro, we dare not let you near a telephone as yet,
- 12:31not until you have agreed entirely to our plans. Oh look here,
- 12:35this is crazy. You got hold me here against my will. Oh yes
- 12:37we can, my dear boy. And if you have any notions of trying
- 12:41to escape, I might remind you that Maria will be guarding you. Come.
- 12:46Let us discuss this in the morning. You will have a clearer mind
- 12:50than and see my reasons. And now I will show you to your room.
- 12:54Queen Helena, your wife is waiting for you. There, my wife,
- 13:11You are comfortable in our hotel, mister Taylor. Yes, thanks,
- 13:15as comfortable as a man can be. When his best friends disappeared. There
- 13:18haven't been any messages. No, mister Taylor. You have reported his disappearance
- 13:22to the police. Yes, and they won't take me seriously. No,
- 13:24will the Consulate excuse me? I'll tell that disco. The Gregory Wood just
- 13:33a moment. Please, San Francisco is calling, mister Wood. I'll take
- 13:35the call. You can take it in the booth over there, Sanderson Taylor
- 13:48speaking, Hello, This is Richard. Oh Hello, Dick. Is Greg
- 13:50there? Dick? He's been kidnapped by girl, by a girl? Sandy?
- 13:58Is that Mexican? Sern a little? I'm not kidding, Dick.
- 14:01The girl had a revolver and a rap. I've been going up to be
- 14:03frantic. Neither the police nor the consulate would take me seriously. Well,
- 14:05look, sendy. The vice counselor is a friend of mine. I'll call
- 14:09him as soon as a hanger. But in the meanwhile, I'm news for
- 14:11you. I just got a tip at sever and Stackpool got Quinn that you
- 14:16and Greg left on the Grossni and Jade deal. He flew out on a
- 14:18charted plaine four hours ago. You must find Greg and tell him to close
- 14:22the deal as soon as it's humanly possible. And now, Grigoro, I
- 14:37shall leave you and Queen Elena together. Dutcher and some couple. How splendid
- 14:45the fellow you would look standing on a balcony with you cheering people below,
- 14:50talk some sense to do him. Lena will go. Let's settle this down,
- 14:58Jerade, once and for all. You're supposed to be my wife.
- 15:01You should know whether I'm me or not. I do not know what you
- 15:05mean, Gregor. All I know is that you are my husband and that
- 15:07I love you very much. Heaven help me, holy smoke, not you
- 15:11too? Now, Look, darling, what's the game? Knowing me as
- 15:16well as your might, well as any stranger in your harem oh? Do
- 15:18they have herems in Grasnia? I have loved you, Grigoroo, even though
- 15:22my father arranged our marriage purely as a political move. I shall probably always
- 15:28love you, and you will undoubtedly never be under the same roof with me.
- 15:31Say when a protocol the man is I should hate you, Grigoro,
- 15:37Yet in my heart I find nothing but love and pity for us both.
- 15:43And will you kiss me good night? Or is that asking too much?
- 15:48Know Elena, I don't think that's asking too much. Good night? Must
- 15:58itch me good night. I'm afraid sorry, Leonie. I have a busy
- 16:03time ahead of me, my love. This is becoming embarrassing. I've got
- 16:15to get out of here. Well, the window's unlocked. Maybe I can
- 16:22oh, hello, Maria, I was afraid you might be out there.
- 16:26There was a time and you were glad of my company. I don't doubt
- 16:30it, Maria, But on those occasions, I imagine you didn't totally shiny
- 16:33automatic. I also doubt whether you purchased yourself outside my windows. Won't you
- 16:41come in? I'm sure it's getting chilly out there. I want to talk
- 16:42to you very well, but not leech. Now, what do you want
- 16:48from me? Complete honesty? Count Ursul and Queen and Yana went all emotional
- 16:52over me. You at least have played the thing straight. I think I've
- 16:56played my cards well. Now, look, Maria, one thing we have
- 16:59to get straight right away. I'll swear on any convenient stack of Bibles that
- 17:03I am not King Grigoroo the sixteenth. Of course, I know that at
- 17:07last somebody's making sense who should know better than I that you are not the
- 17:11king. Oh I'm delighted, Maria, But what makes you so positive?
- 17:14For the most obvious reason, did I not help you murdering? You'll hear
- 17:33the rest of Gregoryhood's story in just a second, just time enough for me
- 17:37to say a good word about a good white wine. Petrie, California is
- 17:41so turned. Petri so Turn is a delicate wine, golden in color,
- 17:48with a marvelous subtle flavor. One step and you'll know that you've discovered the
- 17:52kind of wine you long looked for. And wait till you sample that Petrick
- 17:56so turn served with chicken. What a combination. And Patrie's so turned is
- 18:03not only great with chicken, but it's swell with any kind of fish or
- 18:06seafood too. You just taste that Patri so turn and see what I mean
- 18:11to be sure you get a good wine. Be sure you get Petrie wine.
- 18:18Well, Greg, this is one of the scruelier stories I ever heard.
- 18:21It sounds it doesn't it, Harry, Yet it's perfectly true. It
- 18:22seems to me like a double case of mistake and identity. That's the way
- 18:26it seemed to me at the time. I figured that Maria had had a
- 18:30boyfriend who was a double for the real king. They had murdered the king
- 18:33and placed me, that is the boyfriend in his stead. Now they were
- 18:37deliberately letting me, that is him, be found by the monarchists party.
- 18:41To go back to Grossnia and Breen, it's pretty a little mixed up as
- 18:44ever I heard. How did you get out of it well. As Maria
- 18:47made her remarkable statement, I had a sudden inspiration, Harry, I saw
- 18:49a way to play the No, you're not the real king? Did I
- 18:55not help you murder him? You helped me to Maria? You may be
- 19:00right at that I met you, griguru. Whatever may have happened to your
- 19:04memory, I can assure you that I have not forgotten. I can't understand
- 19:10myself. My mind it's been confused lately. I can't seem to remember things
- 19:14properly. Do you suppose could I really be the man you think I am?
- 19:18Am I suffering from mamnesia, you poor darling. Of course that explains
- 19:22why you've been acting so strangely. That must be what's wrong, Maria.
- 19:26You have to help me regain my memory, of course, But what can
- 19:30I do? I've often heard that a sudden shock can do the trick.
- 19:33Perhaps if I fired this revolvering screen that you're trying to answer, No,
- 19:37no, darling, that's a little too violent. I feel that a more
- 19:40psychological treatment might be better. Tell me, Maria, I gather that my
- 19:44past has been a trifle sticky. Which of the women in my life were
- 19:48the closest to me. That is not hard to answer, Amitri the dancinger.
- 19:52Oh, yes, yes, Prince Phiosol mentioned her, and she's in
- 19:56Mexico City at the moment. I understand. Yes, she's dancing at the
- 20:00at Oasour. We know that you would not be able to keep away from
- 20:03her. Always, in whatever country you have been in, with whatever women
- 20:07you have, always come back to Anitra. She sounds sensational, she said,
- 20:11devil. She knows that you killed the king, and yet she gave
- 20:14her heart to you before even his funeral had taken place. I'm even more
- 20:18of a cad than I thought. But look, Maria, you want to
- 20:21help me get my memory back, don't you. Yes, I will help
- 20:23you. Well, you're my body God. You escort me to the ghatawassou.
- 20:27Let me take a gander at a nietra. Maybe my memory will come
- 20:30back. Perhaps I will Grigoro, but I shall keep these three bulber hands.
- 20:36Okay, Maya. By the way, you still call me Grigoroo.
- 20:38If we are supposed to have bumped off King Grigoroo, how come I still
- 20:42have his name? Because it was a greed you would adopt the name your
- 20:45real name when you served the prison term in nineteen thirty seven was steppn Radney.
- 20:52Something new has been added, So I served a prison term? Did
- 20:56I curious, sir? And curious her? What was my crime? Perhaps
- 21:00it will help your memory if I show you a copy of your police record,
- 21:03Gregor Room, I have a photostatic copy made in the fire bro I.
- 21:11The photograph is an exact like that. Hello, Hello, see these
- 21:17fingerprints on the record. Are these supposed to be mine? But of course
- 21:19then this, my sweetheart, is an occasion when you're in line for something
- 21:22of a shark. Now here's my driving license. I want you to compare
- 21:26the two prints. I'm very much afraid you will find this a slight discrepancy.
- 21:33No, Grego, the prints are identical. What let me see that?
- 21:38You must be quite miss, Holy smoke, they are the same,
- 21:44of course they are. I'm beginning to wonder myself who I am. Well,
- 21:48there's only one way to clear this up at you, and that you
- 21:49and your revolver mistake me to see Anietra, my great love. I'm on,
- 21:53darling, stop glowering at me and let's go. Lieutenant does this is
- 22:08the first time I've come to you tonight, and this time mister Taylor,
- 22:11I must apologize. Perhaps I was unduly skeptical. The American Counselate have officially
- 22:18asked us to conduct the search for your friend. Thank the Lord that come
- 22:21could pull some strings. Well let's go, But where my friend? I
- 22:23have no clues, but I can tell you one thing. If you were
- 22:26right in thinking that mister Hood was not being held captive, then I know
- 22:30where to look for him. Where, mister Taylor in the spot that has
- 22:33the best food, the best wine, and most attractive dancwer in Mexico City.
- 22:37If you are correct as to your friend's taste, I think we will
- 22:41find him. If not, we shall at least spend a pleasant evening for
- 22:44ourselves. And you like the Gato st B group very shiny, smooth,
- 23:00very nice while we were waiting for anit or to appear? Could I interest
- 23:03you in a roomba? And not this time? You are too pull a
- 23:07trick if we do not ten everything better control of my revolver. A very
- 23:11conscientious escort, aren't you, darling? It's lucky? I'm fairy scripulous.
- 23:15My old father used to say that jumping jo hoose back? What you steering
- 23:19it? Look you're sitting at the table across the floor. It's Sandy Taylor.
- 23:22It is your American friends in the airfield, and from the cut of
- 23:26his companion, I venture the opinion that he's a minion of the law.
- 23:30Maria, my love, I'm afraid the honeymoon is over. It's I've got
- 23:33some overdue business to attend to. The lighting here is discreet. Your friend
- 23:37has not seen you. If you need this tabless or plan, Maria,
- 23:41give me that revowal no see Tom Gregor, give me that revolver darling.
- 23:47Thank you. I am a weak cool I could not do it. I
- 23:52could not shoot you even winn it. We'll talk about them later. Come
- 23:55with me, Mario. You're a good girl, and if what I think
- 23:56is true, you may not be too safe. Come on, we'll cut
- 24:00through here, Hie, san Ny Gregory ricks Cott man, I've been worried
- 24:07to death about you. I've been a little worried about myself too. This
- 24:11is Lieutenant Valdez of the Police sister Hood. I'm proud to meet you,
- 24:15and I'm very relieved to meet you. Lieutenant. I need a little police
- 24:18protection. Please introduce me. There's no time for that, darling, right
- 24:22now. We're all going over to talk to Count Pablou and see if we
- 24:25can buy some jade. Then we'll come back here and do a little celebrating.
- 24:41Well, Gregory, it's turned out all right. You close the deal
- 24:45with Count Pablau. And yes, but I only got it in the nick
- 24:48of time. You saw that large black liverousine drive up to the Count's house
- 24:52as we left. That was mister Severn Stackpool by Champagne Mario. Thank you.
- 24:57How about you, Lieutenant Valdet. I am no longer on duty.
- 25:00Thank you, mister Hood. Gregory, I've got a million questions to ask
- 25:03her. Yes, I thought you might be curious, Sandy, and I'm
- 25:07mister Hood as a humble member of the police force. And maybe it look
- 25:10curious too. Here we are back again in the Catozool and still I do
- 25:14not know what's happening. Your prentise tell me that he's charming young lady kidnapped
- 25:18you. What am I to believe? Officially? Nothing, Lieutenant, I
- 25:22don't propose to prefer chargers. What Gregory, this girl pulled a gun on
- 25:26you, I know, Sandy, but with so much charm. Mariya,
- 25:30darling, how about an explanation. Oh, by the way, is your
- 25:33name really Maria? Oh? Yes, and I really am a grass who
- 25:37is at the back of this elaborate hunk of play acting tonight? Was it
- 25:40Severn Stackpool? Yes, several Stackpool employers. You know that you have to
- 25:45prevent you seeing Count Pavlo until you arrive here and close the deal. So
- 25:49he divides his plan. Listen, Maria, I know Severn Stackpool. His
- 25:53mind isn't capable of dreaming up such a wild and moly plotter as this.
- 25:56No, but he's best friend here in Mexico cost City, Antonio Serni deal
- 26:02the declating mystery writer. Antonio knows your weakness for peculiar props and whim you're
- 26:07getting an international fame, Gregory, I know, quite flattering. So Antonio
- 26:11dreamed up this crazy plot full of excitement and danger and girls, in the
- 26:15hopes that it keep me occupied until Stackpool got here and closed the Jade deal.
- 26:18I suppose, yes, Queence Fiarusol, Queen Lena and I are all
- 26:22professional actors. We have paid huntedly to play our part. Prince phi Us
- 26:27or Queen Elena. What's this all about? Grigeroo? Gregory characters in a
- 26:32fantastic plot, but you can tell Antonio that he overdid it. One double
- 26:36I might have swallowed, but when I was also supposed to be the double
- 26:40of the King's double, it was a little too much. That is when
- 26:42you know it was a conspiracy. Yes, Darling, and the thumb prints
- 26:45were a clincher. It was mathematically impossible that any double could have my exact
- 26:49print, so it was clear that someone had framed the whole thing, had
- 26:53printed up that description, probably from my driving license and wire photo to photostatic
- 26:59copy. Obvious that the whole affair was a pretext to get me out of
- 27:02the way, And who was the logical person? Savern Stackpool Peedy. Well,
- 27:06I barely know what you're talking about, Gregory, but at least we've
- 27:08closed the deal. Yes, yes, and we have some prized treasures for
- 27:11the Gump collection and some only moderately colossal stuff for my regular customers. Uh,
- 27:18Lieutenant Valdez, you're not asleep by you just drowsy, mister hood.
- 27:23The music is good, the conversation makes no sense, and the champagne is
- 27:27excellent. Please continue to talk nonsense. It is so soothing, A very
- 27:33sound point of view. How about you, Maria, pretty girl, I'm
- 27:37worried about Severn Stackpool. He's a dangerous man when he knows that I have
- 27:41failed. Very true, Maria, he isn't going to like you a bit.
- 27:45I'm afraid I have a duty to you for the rest of my stay
- 27:48in Mexico City, A duty to me. What is it? From here
- 27:51in, Maria, our roles are reversed. From now on. I am
- 27:55your bodyguard day and night. Oh, Greg, girl, Greg, I
- 28:18don't know how you do it. You know, your stories get better all
- 28:22the time. But you a king, Harry. When you say that,
- 28:26don't smile. I was beginning to like the idea, Greg, Gota know.
- 28:33I just can't visualize you as a king. Oh. I think I'd
- 28:37look quite dashing with a crown on my head and a queen by my side.
- 28:41I'd look kind of dashing myself in that set up. Maybe so.
- 28:44But as my old father would say, he who gets crowned is not always
- 28:48king. Well, that's what your old father would say. But did I
- 28:52ever tell you what my old father said? No? What did he say?
- 28:55You can't go wrong with a petree wine? He said that, and
- 28:59he was glad and right. You said it because Petrie wine is always good
- 29:04wine. Well, it's got to be. Look at the long years of
- 29:08skill and experience that go into its making. The Petrie family has been making
- 29:14wine for generation. Wine making is their heritage, a heritage handed on down
- 29:19from father to son, from father to son. So you can take it
- 29:26for granted that the Petrie family really knows how to turn luscious, sun ripened
- 29:30grapes into clear, fragrant, delicious wine. You can take it for granted
- 29:34too, that the name Petrie on a bottle of wine is more than a
- 29:38trademark. It's the assurance of the Petrie family that every drop of wine in
- 29:44that bottle is good wine. You just can't go wrong with Petrie wine because
- 29:48Petrie took time to bring you good wine. Well, Greg, which story
- 29:55out of your casebook you're going to tell us next week? Next week,
- 29:56Harry, I'm going to tell you of a strange adventure Andy and I had
- 30:00last Paul when we grew up to Yosemite on a fishing trip. It concerns
- 30:03some brook trout that I cooked under the starlight, an uninvited guest and a
- 30:08sudden tragedy. You next week, Harry, the case Book of Gregory Hood
- 30:33is written by Dannis Green and Anthony Boucher. Original music composed and played by
- 30:38Dean fosterlor Hail Gordon plays the part of Gregory Hood and Sanderson Taylor is played
- 30:45by Carl Harbor. The Pettery Wine Company of San Francisco, California invite you
- 31:00to tune in again next week, same time, same station. The Case

- 31:18dramas. Listen every Monday on most of these same stations at eight o'clock to
- 31:23Michael Shane, followed immediately by the Casebook of Gregory Hood. This is the
- 31:29Mutual Broadcasting System. Welcome back. Well, I like this episode. Not
- 31:36only does anyone die in this episode, but it really turns out that something
- 31:41logical is happening. And that is such a nice feature, I think because
- 31:52when I first listened to it, I was expecting something really convoluted, and
- 31:56it was just a simple yet eloquent solution, and I really appreciated it.
