- 2:17Speaker 2: just got to get an update. How many minutes? How
- 2:19Speaker 2: many laps today? In this heat?
- 2:22Speaker 3: Today was just over thirty three.
- 2:27Speaker 2: I'll give you a reprieve on minutes because it's hot. Yeah,
- 2:32Speaker 2: I got done.
- 2:33Speaker 3: The Fitbit air talked to me, this Fitbit Air. It
- 2:38Speaker 3: has this thing called the AI coach. You know how
- 2:40Speaker 3: I feel about that?
- 2:41Speaker 2: Oh you love this.
- 2:42Speaker 3: I've gotten to where I like to actually talk to
- 2:47Speaker 3: the quote unquote coach and yell at it and curse
- 2:51Speaker 3: at it, and it gets it gets snippy right back.
- 2:56Speaker 3: But really, yeah, it told me though afterwards it was
- 3:00Speaker 3: it felt like one hundred and ten outside. It was
- 3:03Speaker 3: like that volume in this one hundred and ten degree
- 3:07Speaker 3: real feel was whatever it said. So yeah, anyway, it's hot.
- 3:13Speaker 3: It is indeed hot.
- 3:15Speaker 2: You know, we're gonna get into a lot of sports.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Change a second, but you're doing things. I don't think
- 3:19Speaker 2: you realize what's happening. You said you would never get
- 3:21Speaker 2: on TikTok. You're now selling jewelry on TikTok. Brother, you
- 3:25Speaker 2: said you would never use AI, and you have your
- 3:28Speaker 2: own AI assistant on a fitbit. You do us next?
- 3:35Speaker 2: What top gun?
- 3:37Speaker 4: What's the logical next step?
- 3:41Speaker 2: Let's get into it here. Chris Hammer reports and we'll
- 3:43Speaker 2: get into some of this between today and tomorrow. How
- 3:46Speaker 2: much does every roster cost? In the power for John
- 3:49Speaker 2: Taltea and Chris Hammer spoke with a dozen of U
- 3:52Speaker 2: are a lot of dozens of sources to find out
- 3:55Speaker 2: conference by conference breakdout of what teams are actually paying
- 3:58Speaker 2: this year. We'll get into that in some college football.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Also yesterday, the AP Poll was announced. If you missed it,
- 4:05Speaker 2: Ohio state number one, Oregon number two, followed by Georgia,
- 4:09Speaker 2: Notre Dame in Texas, Indiana, the University of Miami, the Hurricanes,
- 4:14Speaker 2: Texas A and m Ole miss and Oklahoma. That's six
- 4:16Speaker 2: through ten. LSU comes in at eleven, Texas Tech and
- 4:19Speaker 2: number twelve Alabama, thirteen BYU and USC that's fourteen and fifteen,
- 4:24Speaker 2: followed by Michigan. Which excuse me, Washington, Penn State, SMU, Tennessee, Utah, Iowa, Houston, Louisville,
- 4:32Speaker 2: and Missouri. So that's your AP pole if you care.
- 4:35Speaker 2: We've got the coaches out from last week, We've got
- 4:37Speaker 2: the AP These will be the two kind of identifiers
- 4:39Speaker 2: that we use as we kick the season off next week.
- 4:41Speaker 2: It is Week zero coming up this weekend, so if
- 4:43Speaker 2: you want to have some college football on, that'll be fun.
- 4:46Speaker 2: For Week zero. We'll get into some thoughts and there's
- 4:48Speaker 2: you know, the overrated underrated stuff that goes on with
- 4:51Speaker 2: the AP Poll. Also AP Poll by conference. When you
- 4:56Speaker 2: look at the conference breakdown of the AP pole preseason,
- 4:59Speaker 2: nine Southeast Conference teams in the initial AP Top twenty five,
- 5:03Speaker 2: eight Big Ten teams at seventeen of the twenty five,
- 5:07Speaker 2: also four from the Big twelve, three from the ACC,
- 5:10Speaker 2: and one independent Notre Dame. No group of five teams
- 5:13Speaker 2: in the AP pole that Sun Belt, Mountain West. That's
- 5:16Speaker 2: the American Conference USA, the PAC twelve, and the MAC.
- 5:19Speaker 2: As we move into the AP pole. Also, Alabama starts
- 5:23Speaker 2: the season ranked thirteenth in the AP Pole. That snaps
- 5:26Speaker 2: a seventeen year streak of being ranked in the preseason
- 5:29Speaker 2: top ten, second longest streak in Pole history, as Alabama
- 5:33Speaker 2: is at thirteenth. And again, I don't think it's fair
- 5:36Speaker 2: for Kaylyn to born to be you know, again, he
- 5:38Speaker 2: knew what he was taking when he took this Alabama job.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Anybody that would have been compared against Nick Saban, unless
- 5:43Speaker 2: they did Nick Saban things, was gonna get a little criticism. Obviously,
- 5:47Speaker 2: he gets a contract extension this past year. He's trying
- 5:50Speaker 2: to get Alabama back into the College Football Playoff for
- 5:52Speaker 2: the second straight year. Also, let's see here, Yeah, I
- 5:57Speaker 2: do want to get into this from Shaun seam Emphasis
- 5:59Speaker 2: sent me this earlier. It's you know, you've probably seen
- 6:04Speaker 2: some of this celebration of some outlandish celebrations here recently
- 6:08Speaker 2: over the last weekend travel ball. Now we've got one
- 6:10Speaker 2: in football, a football coach out here. The next chapter
- 6:15Speaker 2: for a sixth grader has officially had been announced twenty
- 6:17Speaker 2: thirty three quarterback is committing to Charles Charlton Middle School.
- 6:22Speaker 2: So we've got commitments going on in middle school out here.
- 6:25Speaker 2: We got to get these kids rained in. Also in
- 6:29Speaker 2: Penn State, we've got a crazy story thirteen Penn State
- 6:32Speaker 2: fraternity brothers charged with running a major cocaine trafficking ring
- 6:38Speaker 2: with some pledges in the fraternity allegedly forced and cut
- 6:42Speaker 2: and packaged cocaine is a part of their indoctrination into
- 6:45Speaker 2: the fraternity at Penn State. So some guys going from
- 6:48Speaker 2: Penn State to the state pen in the state of Pennsylvania. Also,
- 6:52Speaker 2: I love that LSU is not backing down on Jaden
- 6:56Speaker 2: Daniels in the number five. They keep posting highlights of
- 6:58Speaker 2: this young man, the defense back who took number five,
- 7:01Speaker 2: making plays in practice. So you've got the ongoing saga
- 7:04Speaker 2: between Jayden Daniels and LSU. Also, the initial Mississippi Junior
- 7:10Speaker 2: College or excuse me, the National Junior College preseason poll
- 7:15Speaker 2: is out as Iowa Western Community College is number one.
- 7:18Speaker 2: No surprise there, they typically lived there. Hutchinson number two.
- 7:21Speaker 2: You're Mississippi flavored. Northwest Mississippi Community College comes in at
- 7:24Speaker 2: number three. You've got Tyler Junior College at four, Missippi
- 7:27Speaker 2: Gulf Coast at number five, colin Is at nine, East
- 7:30Speaker 2: Mississippi at number eleven. Also Hines getting votes and Itawamba
- 7:34Speaker 2: getting votes in the top fifteen in your national junior
- 7:38Speaker 2: college polls. Also NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell earlier today revealed
- 7:44Speaker 2: he has quote no doubt and he left it at
- 7:46Speaker 2: no doubt and he didn't go any further. There will
- 7:48Speaker 2: eventually be NFL teams based outside of the United States.
- 7:53Speaker 2: I would not be shocked at that, just because we've
- 7:55Speaker 2: talked about this, the way the National Football League has played. Obviously,
- 7:59Speaker 2: we've got I think seven or eight games in the
- 8:01Speaker 2: NFL that's going to be overseas. They're going to be
- 8:03Speaker 2: in Brazil, They're gonna be somewhere around the around the
- 8:05Speaker 2: world this year. To have that presence worldwide. And before
- 8:09Speaker 2: we go to break, Naje Harris spent the last season
- 8:12Speaker 2: with Chargers head coach Jim Harball. He has now inked
- 8:15Speaker 2: with the New York Giants. He will be with John
- 8:17Speaker 2: Harball h this coming up football season. We're at Northwest
- 8:21Speaker 2: frank In High School today. It is Cougar Day ONULE Radio.
- 8:24Speaker 2: We're brought to you by Maristar Casino and our friends
- 8:26Speaker 2: Absissippi Sports Medicine in Orthopedic Sitting Center. We're also brought
- 8:29Speaker 2: to you by Ranco Transmission fourteen sixty Old Brandon Road

- 8:34Speaker 2: one eighty four, fifty three plus years Fourida domestic transmission repair.
- 8:38Speaker 2: We got a lot to get to. We're gonna take
- 8:40Speaker 2: our first time out of the day. We're coming your
- 8:41Speaker 2: way a bit.

- 9:23Speaker 5: five on the zone and don't live the zone one
- 9:27Speaker 5: O five nine.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Dot com Ye take in there and change day. Brought
- 9:57Speaker 2: to you by Clinton Body Shop, Clinton Richland Lee Locations,
- 10:00Speaker 2: OEM factory certified all the manufacturers of Trust six or
- 10:03Speaker 2: A one nine two four two one five nine. Let
- 10:06Speaker 2: them help you in Clinton. Also in Richland today, David Murray,
- 10:09Speaker 2: he can help you with all you Mississippi State News
- 10:11Speaker 2: Jean's page two four seven Sports dot Com David, Happy Tuesday,
- 10:15Speaker 2: and what a hot one it is, sir? How are you?
- 10:19Speaker 6: Yeah, it's warmed up pretty good obviously. In fact, following
- 10:22Speaker 6: Sunday's scrimmage, I couldn't resist asking Jeff Levy, you know
- 10:27Speaker 6: what's hotter the West Texas planes you grew up on
- 10:30Speaker 6: the Oklahoma planes you worked at a few years or here,
- 10:33Speaker 6: A deep South heat and humidity, And he said, it's
- 10:35Speaker 6: a it's a real question, a fair question. All you
- 10:38Speaker 6: know is is it was really hot Sunday when they
- 10:40Speaker 6: get out there. But he was actually pleased with that
- 10:43Speaker 6: because it showed when they ran. I think the first
- 10:46Speaker 6: teams went forty seven snaps and the second team's forty
- 10:49Speaker 6: or so snaps. Nobody fell out with the heat. They
- 10:52Speaker 6: all seemed to handle things conditioning wise. Of course, they
- 10:55Speaker 6: had yesterday to recovered. Today was the first day where
- 10:58Speaker 6: they were back at practice, but no reported issues from
- 11:01Speaker 6: that as far as they're conditioning or holding up. So
- 11:04Speaker 6: that's a good start to the preseason. There with the
- 11:07Speaker 6: first scrimmage in the books, I will have to go
- 11:09Speaker 6: in and say that no, media did not get to
- 11:11Speaker 6: watch any of the scrimmage. So everything we know so
- 11:14Speaker 6: far has been told us by the three players we
- 11:16Speaker 6: talked to today. There will be another scrimmage this weekend
- 11:20Speaker 6: and also closed to media, though I believe m club
- 11:22Speaker 6: members put in a boost for that. Good organization will
- 11:26Speaker 6: be allowed to attend with membership and such as that.
- 11:29Speaker 6: So they've entered the full scrimmaging part of it, and
- 11:33Speaker 6: so far, as best we can tell, so good.
- 11:37Speaker 2: David Murray talking Mississippi State football, Bolt was a couple
- 11:39Speaker 2: weeks away from opening kickoff as they'll take on Louisiana
- 11:42Speaker 2: one row at Davis Wade's Stadium, Tuesday edition of the program. Yeah, David,
- 11:46Speaker 2: I think the biggest thing always is, you know, you
- 11:48Speaker 2: hope you don't have any injuries, and it sounds like
- 11:50Speaker 2: so far everything's clean on that. What do we know
- 11:53Speaker 2: about you know, we'll go defensive side of the ball,
- 11:55Speaker 2: and it's always so hard to tell, like you said,
- 11:57Speaker 2: especially for you guys, because if things are closed up
- 12:00Speaker 2: some reports about defense, maybe what this defense is looking
- 12:03Speaker 2: like maybe some changes we may see. Has there been
- 12:06Speaker 2: any reports of anything like that defensively, well, the first thing.
- 12:11Speaker 6: To report again is this is strictly taken from players
- 12:14Speaker 6: comments that they're enjoying it. I see whether it's defensive
- 12:18Speaker 6: line linebackers, safeties, corners that are all enjoying this defensive
- 12:22Speaker 6: approach under Zach Garnett, which mimics what we heard back
- 12:25Speaker 6: in spring as well. Now, we did get to watch
- 12:27Speaker 6: a couple periods on last Monday and Friday, No. Eleven
- 12:31Speaker 6: on eleven, so we had to race around catch position groups.
- 12:35Speaker 6: I came away thinking, you know what this defense can run.
- 12:40Speaker 6: I'm not going to say they were exactly slow last year,
- 12:43Speaker 6: but they weren't up there with real serious sec speed
- 12:47Speaker 6: in some situations. I like what they're doing now. The
- 12:51Speaker 6: defensive front seems much more mobile, that they haven't lost
- 12:54Speaker 6: the size. Other than Diesel Moy who was way overweight
- 12:57Speaker 6: last year, now he's trimmed down and actually looked a
- 13:00Speaker 6: young recognize the same guy watching him fire off in
- 13:03Speaker 6: drills such as that. The defensive ends certainly have great
- 13:06Speaker 6: lateral movement. I like what the inside linebackers were doing,
- 13:10Speaker 6: and I really believe that the outside linebackers, defensive ends.
- 13:14Speaker 6: They're really going to raise the game as far as
- 13:17Speaker 6: past pressuring this year. Judging by both limited observations and
- 13:21Speaker 6: then following up the comments from the players as well,
- 13:24Speaker 6: they are getting after the quarterbacks at least as much
- 13:26Speaker 6: as they're allowed. What was the comment I heard from
- 13:29Speaker 6: Will Whitson last week that Jeff Levy gets a little
- 13:33Speaker 6: nervous when anyone gets too close to Kamario Taylor, which
- 13:37Speaker 6: ought to be true. Otherwise they're getting back there and
- 13:41Speaker 6: I think this defense is going to be seriously upgraded.
- 13:43Speaker 6: We'll get a chance to talk to Jefferson this morning.
- 13:46Speaker 6: I don't have that feature on Jean's stage as well.
- 13:49Speaker 6: And they like the competition that the wide receiver group
- 13:52Speaker 6: is giving them where they're short, medium, long routes such
- 13:55Speaker 6: as that. So the attitude seems excellent, and frankly, I
- 13:59Speaker 6: just think physically they are far far ahead at the
- 14:01Speaker 6: last couple of years defensively as a whole, you know.
- 14:04Speaker 2: David, And that's that's promising news, especially if you're talking
- 14:07Speaker 2: about a team last year Mississippi State that and in
- 14:09Speaker 2: the last two years, what was it two years ago,
- 14:11Speaker 2: I believe they had ten sacks collectively as a unit,
- 14:13Speaker 2: and then last year they doubled that at plus one.
- 14:15Speaker 2: I think it was twenty one. To you know, if
- 14:17Speaker 2: they can get back to really putting pressure, I mean,
- 14:20Speaker 2: because you know, if they can amp this defense up,
- 14:22Speaker 2: it really calls you know, some turnovers create a you know,
- 14:26Speaker 2: higher turn of a ratio of sorts that's on a
- 14:28Speaker 2: positive side that's only going to help this offense that
- 14:30Speaker 2: we know that's going to likely be pretty explosive.
- 14:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:36Speaker 6: One thing about it too, is when I talked to Jefferson,
- 14:38Speaker 6: I said, well, you know, your best friend is the
- 14:40Speaker 6: cornerback is a pass rush and he just said, yeah,
- 14:44Speaker 6: they're doing their part up there, and it isn't. And
- 14:46Speaker 6: you mentioned sack totals. That's great, we wrote. Reporters love
- 14:50Speaker 6: talking about the sacks and such. I'm more concerned about
- 14:53Speaker 6: the hurries than even the kind of hurries that don't
- 14:55Speaker 6: get credited. There just force the other team out of rhythm.
- 14:58Speaker 6: Even if you don't create a you basically cost them
- 15:01Speaker 6: a down in that situation. But I do think, as
- 15:04Speaker 6: you say, this defense will be able to force some
- 15:06Speaker 6: more turnovers just by making offenses operate a little faster.
- 15:11Speaker 6: They want to and you know, flipping it to the
- 15:13Speaker 6: other side. There they're getting a legitimate test by the
- 15:16Speaker 6: speed of these wide receivers. Now I've mentioned before it's
- 15:20Speaker 6: not a big group. We talked this morning to San
- 15:25Speaker 6: Frisco McGee and while no big guy of any stretch,
- 15:28Speaker 6: he's one of the larger wide receivers. This is a
- 15:31Speaker 6: small receiver group, but it is fast. So now it's
- 15:35Speaker 6: going to come down to the recognition the reaction by
- 15:38Speaker 6: Cambarrio to get the ball to him, and as always,
- 15:40Speaker 6: going back to the offensive line play and I'm going
- 15:43Speaker 6: to withhold judgment on that other than to make this
- 15:46Speaker 6: one comment. I think I said it last week after
- 15:48Speaker 6: watching a practice, but I'm going to emphasize it after
- 15:51Speaker 6: another day's observation. Last week, they looked like an SEC line,
- 15:56Speaker 6: and we can't begin to talk about the rat change
- 16:00Speaker 6: that is from the twenty twenty four season and almost
- 16:04Speaker 6: as much sober last season. I like the physicality of
- 16:07Speaker 6: the offensive line what we've seen in the drills so far,
- 16:10Speaker 6: and I'm not worried about physicality from the running backs
- 16:13Speaker 6: at all. I haven't seen the whole lot from the
- 16:16Speaker 6: tight ends. A few running patterns out there, but they're
- 16:19Speaker 6: working on pass protection from that group as well the
- 16:22Speaker 6: day as we were checking it out. So I guess
- 16:25Speaker 6: sum it all up and say that so far, at
- 16:28Speaker 6: least in the non contact periods, they are serious to
- 16:30Speaker 6: working on the passing game. I've got a feeling from
- 16:34Speaker 6: what they tell us what's to get into contact work.
- 16:36Speaker 6: The run game is taking the lead in this offense,
- 16:39Speaker 6: because that's where Jeff Levy really wants to go with
- 16:42Speaker 6: that offense this year.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Talking with David Murray talking Missippi State football camp, it
- 16:47Speaker 2: is a Tuesday. Bulldogs open up a week from Saturday
- 16:50Speaker 2: against Louisiana Monroe in starbl Davis Wade Stadium. Yet, David talking,
- 16:54Speaker 2: I was going to go there next to the running
- 16:55Speaker 2: back room is you know, it's going to be interesting
- 16:58Speaker 2: to see with Jeff Levy this year. He's got Camaro Taylor,
- 17:01Speaker 2: a guy that will make you play eleven on eleven
- 17:03Speaker 2: and then fluff bothwell in that backfield. Plus some really
- 17:06Speaker 2: good young talent to true freshmen from the state of Mississippi.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Cooper Crosby from Gulfport, JJ Hill from two beelow. What
- 17:13Speaker 2: this run game, you know how it kind of fits
- 17:15Speaker 2: into this offense and will they be a little more
- 17:17Speaker 2: not necessarily run heavy, but you know, run it a
- 17:20Speaker 2: little bit more with the quarterback that's mobile to try
- 17:22Speaker 2: to set up that passing game.
- 17:25Speaker 6: Well, for a comparison, we talked to l. J. Brudon
- 17:28Speaker 6: this morning and I said, what's it like blocking for
- 17:30Speaker 6: this running game? And he just lit up and said,
- 17:33Speaker 6: even when they make blocking mistakes against this defense, the
- 17:37Speaker 6: running backs are still creating yards on their own there.
- 17:39Speaker 6: Now they've preferred not to make mistakes obviously, but it
- 17:42Speaker 6: gives you a clue of how seriously State wants to
- 17:45Speaker 6: run the ball. You mentioned fluff bothwell, obviously it's the
- 17:47Speaker 6: lead dog in this. And we talked to Xavier Gaton
- 17:50Speaker 6: this past week. You know, Colin Wilson haven't heard a
- 17:53Speaker 6: lot about him here in preseasons, but he was the
- 17:55Speaker 6: talk of spring camp on how drastically he's improved his
- 17:58Speaker 6: game running back. There and then the two freshmen, you
- 18:03Speaker 6: just watch them moving, thinking, oh, yeah, these two freshmen
- 18:06Speaker 6: out of Mississippi high school ranks, they are the real
- 18:09Speaker 6: deals at running back at this point. This has got
- 18:12Speaker 6: to be one of the better running back rooms I've
- 18:14Speaker 6: seen at Mimisi State in many years, and I do
- 18:17Speaker 6: mean many years in that regard. Now, I also have
- 18:21Speaker 6: seen them doing a lot of drills catching the ball
- 18:23Speaker 6: where they're behind the line, at the line, always feet
- 18:27Speaker 6: facing forward moving. I think you'll see them use it's
- 18:31Speaker 6: not air raid routes they're running, but it's definitely get
- 18:34Speaker 6: the ball to them quickly and let them beat the
- 18:37Speaker 6: guy that they're matched up with, especially if you get
- 18:39Speaker 6: some blocking from the wide receivers. Now that's where maybe
- 18:42Speaker 6: some of my concerns about receiver size come and play.
- 18:45Speaker 6: But if they got the right technique, they can spring.
- 18:47Speaker 6: These running backs do some things, So I really expect
- 18:51Speaker 6: everything that Jeff Levy has said since the twenty twenty
- 18:53Speaker 6: five season ends was he's committing to the run game.
- 18:56Speaker 6: But that doesn't necessarily mean just line up and slam.
- 18:59Speaker 6: It also means deception, quickness, versatility, and using the short
- 19:04Speaker 6: throw game as an aspect of the running game as well.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Make sure to get him on X at David Murray.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Of course, you can get him on Jean's page two
- 19:12Speaker 2: four seven sports dot Com all you Misissippi State news.

- 19:22Speaker 7: Well.
- 19:22Speaker 6: I keep reminding myself that anybody who complains about the heat,
- 19:27Speaker 6: I don't want to hear from them. Come winner. I'm

- 21:48Speaker 2: dot com. We'll have Chris Landry four thirty to five o'clock.
- 21:51Speaker 2: We're at Northwest Franklin High School and right now we're
- 21:53Speaker 2: gonna be joined by two young men, their seniors on
- 21:55Speaker 2: this team. First, we've got offensive lineman Jaden Ranson. He
- 21:59Speaker 2: is a senior play center. Also along the interior, Jade,
- 22:03Speaker 2: Welcome in, brother. How you doing man, I'm doing good.
- 22:06Speaker 2: You got Missouri Tigers shirt on, so you've been Missouri's fan,
- 22:09Speaker 2: Missouri fan, ol miss old miss hey. But it's just
- 22:12Speaker 2: you're probably like me, like if I've got the shirt,
- 22:13Speaker 2: I'm gonna wear it right. Plus it's the colors. You
- 22:15Speaker 2: almost the colors of the Northwest. So you've been here
- 22:18Speaker 2: for a few years. As you said, you moved from
- 22:21Speaker 2: North Mississippi. How hiss take us to kind of how
- 22:23Speaker 2: your time has been since you've been a cougar here
- 22:25Speaker 2: at Northwestern in Flwood.
- 22:27Speaker 9: It's been nothing but good. You know, I've been welcome
- 22:29Speaker 9: in by the guys, the coaches, they all wocome me
- 22:31Speaker 9: with open ars, and it's been nothing but nothing, nothing
- 22:34Speaker 9: bad I could say.
- 22:35Speaker 2: And as far as playing on the offensive side of
- 22:38Speaker 2: the ball, now you you are you starting this year
- 22:40Speaker 2: at center or you one of the guards or kind
- 22:42Speaker 2: of where you're gonna be lined up this year?
- 22:44Speaker 9: I mean, who knows, really, we all know Friday, but
- 22:48Speaker 9: right now I'm at guard, but I can't play some
- 22:50Speaker 9: center tuoies whatever the team needs.
- 22:53Speaker 2: On the offensive front. Would you rather if you could
- 22:55Speaker 2: just do one or the other? Past block or run block,
- 23:00Speaker 2: definitely round Block'd like to get downhill just a little bit,
- 23:03Speaker 2: so you know, would you guys? Obviously last year, you know,
- 23:07Speaker 2: a decent year last year. Kind of what are the
- 23:08Speaker 2: goals this year for Northwest ranking?
- 23:10Speaker 9: Obviously not to go out in the first round. We
- 23:12Speaker 9: want to go all the way to the championship. But besides,
- 23:15Speaker 9: they just get better as a person, get better as
- 23:16Speaker 9: a team, and uh just become better.
- 23:18Speaker 7: Man.
- 23:19Speaker 2: If you were looking down your schedule now, Coach Cooper,
- 23:22Speaker 2: We're gonna pretend he's not even listening to this right now,
- 23:25Speaker 2: but you could just it's all about your first game,
- 23:26Speaker 2: right It's about the scrimmage game coming up Thursday. Then
- 23:28Speaker 2: you guys open up with next week. But if there
- 23:31Speaker 2: was one team that you couldn't wait to play on
- 23:34Speaker 2: your schedule, who is it?
- 23:35Speaker 7: So our question? Uh?
- 23:39Speaker 9: Well, everybody, I know, everybody gonna say branded, but for
- 23:41Speaker 9: me to be Oh Grove.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Oh Grove. Yes, you know, it's interesting because I know
- 23:44Speaker 2: for some of the Brandon guys and some guys here
- 23:47Speaker 2: and even some guys at Pearl Oak, Grove has kind
- 23:49Speaker 2: of become you know, a well it hasn't always been,
- 23:51Speaker 2: but it's become more of a of an emphasis, a
- 23:53Speaker 2: bigger matchup, you know, the Warriors. And of course for
- 23:56Speaker 2: you guys, who would be the Cougars favorite NFL team?
- 24:00Speaker 7: Cowboys?
- 24:01Speaker 2: Cowboys? I don't know has the Cowboys even made the playoff?
- 24:04Speaker 2: Since you've been alive this question, I can. I'm messing
- 24:08Speaker 2: with you. What about favorite college teams? Oh? Mess? And uh,
- 24:13Speaker 2: I always like the pregame meal question. If you're fixing
- 24:15Speaker 2: the pregame meal, Coach says, all right, you get you
- 24:17Speaker 2: get to do it. What are you feeding people tonight?
- 24:21Speaker 9: I'm gonna beat rice, guy, So I go like rice,
- 24:25Speaker 9: pregame meal. I probably go like some grilled chicken. Yeah,
- 24:27Speaker 9: grilled chicken to like. I like sammon, So I go
- 24:30Speaker 9: sammon and grilled chicken. Uh, fried rice.
- 24:32Speaker 2: And I've asked this question for several years now to
- 24:35Speaker 2: guys everywhere. Do you know it was right here and
- 24:38Speaker 2: I cannot remember the young man's name. It was either
- 24:40Speaker 2: last year or two years ago. Y'all had a teammate
- 24:43Speaker 2: and he said he responded with I don't eat pregame
- 24:46Speaker 2: meals and yeah, and the coaches were listening. They didn't
- 24:49Speaker 2: even know he didn't even eat pregame meals. So yeah,
- 24:51Speaker 2: he literally didn't. I've never heard of a young man
- 24:53Speaker 2: that wouldn't eat eat a pregame meal. He is Jade Ranson.
- 24:56Speaker 2: He's an offensive line. We're gonna switch gears real quick.
- 24:58Speaker 2: Thank you, brother, I appreciate it. And bring in Casey
- 25:00Speaker 2: Swift as Casey as an outside linebacker here for the
- 25:05Speaker 2: Cougars as you can Texas six or one eight eight
- 25:07Speaker 2: five three seven seven six. That is the kewbo Maloney's
- 25:10Speaker 2: text line, We'll have Chris Landry four thirty to five today,
- 25:14Speaker 2: a little different time slot today. We'll see if we
- 25:17Speaker 2: can go ahead and get Casey in here right now.
- 25:18Speaker 2: Casey you with us, Yes, sir, I'm here. I'm here, man,
- 25:21Speaker 2: I appreciate you. Now. You said you were a lifer
- 25:24Speaker 2: Cougar grew up here in Floywood. This is this is it? Man?
- 25:28Speaker 2: It has it set in yet.
- 25:29Speaker 7: Oh, it's starting to hit.
- 25:30Speaker 2: A little bit.
- 25:31Speaker 7: Man, it hits a little bit. I've been growing up here.
- 25:33Speaker 7: I really enjoy the environment. You know, everybody tries to
- 25:35Speaker 7: stay positive around here, and it's overall a great community
- 25:38Speaker 7: to be in.
- 25:39Speaker 2: No, it is.
- 25:40Speaker 1: It is.
- 25:40Speaker 2: It's crazy how and you've probably seen it just you
- 25:42Speaker 2: know you're you know, seventeen eighteen years of living here.
- 25:46Speaker 2: I mean, Floywood has grown so much. You guys have
- 25:49Speaker 2: done some big things on the football field. You've had
- 25:51Speaker 2: some moments, some big moments at some missed moments. What's
- 25:54Speaker 2: the final ride? What do you want to look like
- 25:55Speaker 2: for you?
- 25:56Speaker 7: Honestly, I want to take this as far as we
- 25:58Speaker 7: can because I know we got the guys that do.
- 26:00Speaker 7: Everybody may doubt us, but in my heart. I believe
- 26:02Speaker 7: we can do it. We just got to keep working
- 26:04Speaker 7: towards it and just keep our head in the straight
- 26:06Speaker 7: line and make it happen.
- 26:08Speaker 2: So outside linebacker, I heard Rod talking to you about that.
- 26:11Speaker 3: Uh.
- 26:12Speaker 2: You know when you say outside linebacker today, that's not
- 26:14Speaker 2: old school.
- 26:15Speaker 7: You know.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Old school you had your Mike middle guy, and you
- 26:17Speaker 2: had your two outside Salm and Will, and a lot
- 26:20Speaker 2: of times those guys were run pluggers. Obviously, I'm sure
- 26:22Speaker 2: you can stop the run. You like a very physical
- 26:24Speaker 2: young man. But that is kind of a hybrid, right,
- 26:26Speaker 2: I mean, you've got to be able to do a
- 26:27Speaker 2: lot of things. I'm sure Russ the passer when they
- 26:29Speaker 2: call upon it. Uh, cover you know, covered tighty end
- 26:32Speaker 2: covered backs talk a little bit about, you know, kind
- 26:34Speaker 2: of the flexibility of playing that spot. U.
- 26:36Speaker 7: Well, so I played wheel. So we're more of the
- 26:38Speaker 7: run stot rather than the sam. It's more of like
- 26:40Speaker 7: a nickel guy at You just got to be ready
- 26:42Speaker 7: to get down on that line or be able to
- 26:44Speaker 7: drop in the coverage at any time. But it's a
- 26:46Speaker 7: very physical position and you just got to be ready
- 26:48Speaker 7: for anything that comes towards you.
- 26:50Speaker 2: How has uh, you know, and again, always say, I
- 26:53Speaker 2: can't call it fall camp. It's not fall. There's nothing
- 26:55Speaker 2: fall about weather, right, it's it's all. How has your
- 26:58Speaker 2: summer slash fall camp been so far?
- 27:00Speaker 7: It's been very high, very high. You know me and
- 27:02Speaker 7: I hear these long days, but I know it's gonna
- 27:05Speaker 7: be worth it. So just keep putting the work in,
- 27:08Speaker 7: working hard as I can.
- 27:09Speaker 2: And if you were looking down that schedule, who's the
- 27:11Speaker 2: one team that you're gonna circle? Coach is gonna say
- 27:13Speaker 2: the next game, but you're looking at going that team?
- 27:16Speaker 3: Uh?
- 27:16Speaker 7: For me, you have to be Germantown, really Germantown now
- 27:20Speaker 7: that they come, is that the first or second game?
- 27:22Speaker 7: That's the first game?
- 27:23Speaker 2: First game going over there? That this year? And last question,
- 27:26Speaker 2: if you're fixing the pregame mail? What are you fixing?
- 27:29Speaker 7: Honestly? I really like mac and cheese and some barbecue.
- 27:32Speaker 2: That sound good.
- 27:33Speaker 7: That might sound crazy, but we've had it and it's
- 27:35Speaker 7: the most of like really, yes, sir, favorite favorite college, uh,
- 27:39Speaker 7: Missippi State?
- 27:40Speaker 2: Very good. And then what about NFL team?
- 27:42Speaker 7: I'm a Cowboys man.
- 27:44Speaker 2: I got two cowboys in here with me. That's also, Hey,
- 27:46Speaker 2: I have nothing against the Cowboys. We like to pick
- 27:49Speaker 2: because they haven't been in the playoffs a long time.
- 27:50Speaker 2: They may make it this year. Man, I do appreciate
- 27:53Speaker 2: your time today, Thank you so much. That's Casey Swift
- 27:56Speaker 2: and Jaden Rants and their two seniors on this Northwest
- 27:59Speaker 2: Franklin All team giving us some time here today. We
