- 0:03Speaker 1: I sure will. Good morning, everybody. You are listening to
- 0:07Speaker 1: The Voice. Come on, dig me now. One and only
- 0:11Speaker 1: Steve Harvey got a radio show. Man, oh, man, oh, man.
- 0:14Speaker 1: It symbolizes just one thing to me, man. It's just
- 0:18Speaker 1: a constant reminder of exactly how good God has been
- 0:21Speaker 1: to me over the years. And I thank him for it, too,
- 0:24Speaker 1: because I realize every day that I wake up that
- 0:27Speaker 1: I would be nothing without him. That everything I am,
- 0:30Speaker 1: that's any good in me, I owe to him. Now,
- 0:34Speaker 1: have I made some mistakes along the way? Yep. Bunches,
- 0:38Speaker 1: bunches and bunches. And will I continue to make mistakes
- 0:42Speaker 1: along the way? Yep. Not as many, hopefully, as I
- 0:47Speaker 1: have in the past, because a lot of stuff I
- 0:51Speaker 1: know better now. But you're still going to make mistakes. Now,
- 0:56Speaker 1: you know, hopefully I've limited the amount of intentional errors
- 1:02Speaker 1: in my life. I've wiped quite a few of those out.
- 1:05Speaker 1: But from time to time, because we're human, we're going
- 1:09Speaker 1: to make a mistake every now and then. The trick
- 1:11Speaker 1: with it is, y'all, is not to let the devil
- 1:14Speaker 1: deceive you into thinking that once you make that mistake,
- 1:17Speaker 1: that that's it. You can't do it. You've fallen off
- 1:20Speaker 1: the wagon. You can't reboard it. That's the biggest trick
- 1:24Speaker 1: that he uses. He makes you think that if you
- 1:28Speaker 1: keep stumbling, that you can't run the race. It kind
- 1:34Speaker 1: of reminds me of a marathon runner from time to time.
- 1:38Speaker 1: I watch him on TV and you'll see some people
- 1:42Speaker 1: who finish the race, you know, in a nice pace.
- 1:48Speaker 1: You see people finish the race fast. sprinting towards the
- 1:52Speaker 1: finish line. But every now and then, you'll watch a
- 1:55Speaker 1: marathon and you'll see a runner. And the runner is
- 2:00Speaker 1: in really, really bad shape. The key is they finish
- 2:07Speaker 1: the race. See, you don't get disqualified in the marathon
- 2:12Speaker 1: because you stumble. They don't take your... to finish the
- 2:19Speaker 1: race because you keep falling. That's not the key. The
- 2:24Speaker 1: key is finishing. And a lot of times what the
- 2:28Speaker 1: devil does is he makes you think that because you
- 2:31Speaker 1: keep stumbling, because you're swaying from side to side, that,
- 2:36Speaker 1: you know, you out the race. Well, that's not the case.
- 2:40Speaker 1: And see, and in this thing called life, let me
- 2:42Speaker 1: help you understand something. Everybody falls. Nobody sprints to the
- 2:46Speaker 1: tape in this one. Nobody just runs free and clear.
- 2:50Speaker 1: There are some people running faster than you and all
- 2:53Speaker 1: like this. And some people going to get to the
- 2:55Speaker 1: end before you let them go ahead. Then when the
- 2:57Speaker 1: end come, the end come. I ain't in a rush
- 2:59Speaker 1: to get to the end. But in this race, though,
- 3:03Speaker 1: when you're stumbling and you're falling, it's a part of it.
- 3:06Speaker 1: No one gets through this race without stumbling and falling,
- 3:10Speaker 1: swaying from side to side. So don't let the the
- 3:14Speaker 1: enemy deceive you into thinking that it's over. I try
- 3:19Speaker 1: to be encouraging to people because I don't want people
- 3:23Speaker 1: to get stuck on this thing, you know, and my
- 3:25Speaker 1: walk is very different from a lot of people's walks.
- 3:28Speaker 1: And then I know a lot of people who walk
- 3:30Speaker 1: in faith the way I'm walking in faith. But my
- 3:33Speaker 1: thing in the morning is just to remind those that
- 3:36Speaker 1: is not a perfect walk, man, that it's not. Something
- 3:40Speaker 1: that's set up where you're going to be skipping through
- 3:43Speaker 1: life scot-free without any pitfalls. You know, I keep saying
- 3:47Speaker 1: it over and over and over again, because like I said,
- 3:50Speaker 1: when I was in D.C., my boy Hondo said this
- 3:54Speaker 1: to me and it just kind of stuck with me
- 3:56Speaker 1: that the road to construct the road to success is
- 3:59Speaker 1: always under construction. You have to figure and count on.
- 4:04Speaker 1: the setbacks and the pitfalls, but it's those people that, that, that, that,
- 4:09Speaker 1: that fight through will be the victors in the end.
- 4:12Speaker 1: You cannot give up, man. Stop going somewhere and sitting
- 4:16Speaker 1: down every time something goes down, it's going to go down.
- 4:21Speaker 1: It's a part of it. It's going to happen. It's
- 4:25Speaker 1: going to occur. There are going to be setbacks. If
- 4:28Speaker 1: you go and sit down every time there's a setback,
- 4:32Speaker 1: you didn't, That's not how this works. It is designed
- 4:36Speaker 1: that way. If success were easy, everybody would be successful.
- 4:42Speaker 1: But success is just reserved for those who are willing
- 4:45Speaker 1: to fight through, who refuse to settle for mediocrity, who
- 4:50Speaker 1: want something more. Now, don't get me wrong. Success is
- 4:54Speaker 1: defined by each individual. So what I may consider to
- 4:59Speaker 1: be successful, you may not consider that. You know, what
- 5:02Speaker 1: Bill Gates considers successful, I might not consider. What Michael
- 5:07Speaker 1: Jordan considers successful, I might not consider. What you consider successful,
- 5:12Speaker 1: your boss might not consider. You have to define what
- 5:15Speaker 1: that is for yourself. It may not be monetary at all.
- 5:19Speaker 1: You know, your level of success could be tied up
- 5:22Speaker 1: in community service. It could be tied up in family.
- 5:26Speaker 1: It could be tied up in the church. Your level
- 5:28Speaker 1: of success could be tied up in the church. Boys clubs,
- 5:32Speaker 1: it could be any number of things, whatever your level
- 5:35Speaker 1: of success is. You have to determine what that is you.
- 5:39Speaker 1: And the best way to determine that is to get
- 5:42Speaker 1: in touch with your maker who created you to find
- 5:47Speaker 1: out what your mission and your purpose is so he
- 5:50Speaker 1: can put you on track. I just had this conversation
- 5:54Speaker 1: with my son and we were talking about getting on
- 5:57Speaker 1: the path that God has set up for you. So
- 6:01Speaker 1: many times we find ourselves fighting through life because of
- 6:05Speaker 1: so much uncertainty because we have no idea where we're headed.
- 6:10Speaker 1: It's like one of my sayings that I have at
- 6:15Speaker 1: my mentoring camp for boys is that a boy without
- 6:20Speaker 1: a male role model is like an explorer without a map. See,
- 6:26Speaker 1: if you don't have a map, laid out in front
- 6:30Speaker 1: of you of where you're going. When you wake up
- 6:34Speaker 1: every day, that pretty much explains the feeling of confusion,
- 6:40Speaker 1: the lackadaisical attitude, the lack of purpose, the not understanding
- 6:47Speaker 1: your mission because you don't have not gotten in touch
- 6:52Speaker 1: with your creator to find out exactly what your path
- 6:56Speaker 1: in life is. What are you supposed to be doing?
- 6:59Speaker 1: The moment you can identify that is the moment that
- 7:03Speaker 1: you get started waking up with purpose, with the sense
- 7:07Speaker 1: of direction. When you kill the sense of I don't
- 7:10Speaker 1: know what's next or what to do. Now, there's going
- 7:13Speaker 1: to be some confusing moments no matter what happened. It's
- 7:15Speaker 1: going to be some uncertainty, but at least you know
- 7:18Speaker 1: where you're going. So if you're tired of waking up
- 7:21Speaker 1: feeling lost, abandoned, confused, don't know what to do, don't
- 7:26Speaker 1: know what you're supposed to be doing. Refer back to
- 7:31Speaker 1: your maker, because when he created you, he had a
- 7:35Speaker 1: plan for you. When he created you, he had a
- 7:38Speaker 1: path for you. Now, we've made some decisions to get
- 7:41Speaker 1: off of both of those, the mission and the path.
- 7:44Speaker 1: But God can get you right back on track. Do
- 7:48Speaker 1: that today. Ask him what you're supposed to be doing.
- 7:52Speaker 1: And listen, God has all the answers if you form
- 7:57Speaker 1: the relationship, okay? You're listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
