  Let's turn to John 20, verses 19 to 23.
• 0:20
  We come today to an important moment in the story of Jesus and
• 0:25
  his disciples. On the evening after his
• 0:28
  resurrection, His disciples were gathered together in a locked
• 0:32
  room, unsure and afraid, but Jesus came to them right where
• 0:37
  they were. As we read John 20 verse 19, we
• 0:41
  see that what happened in that room.
• 0:44
  Jesus needs His people bringing His presence, His peace, as well
• 0:49
  as revealing to them the plan and purpose He had for them.
• 0:54
  The doors were shut. Not just shut, but the doors
• 0:57
  were also locked. The disciples were hiding there
• 1:00
  in fear. Resurrected Christ still came in
• 1:04
  and stood among them. No locked door or then any
• 1:08
  authority could keep Him away from His people.
• 1:11
  He was present with His disciples when they were
• 1:15
  frightened. Jesus was present with them in
• 1:20
  verse 19 and 21. Twice Jesus declares peace be
• 1:26
  with you. This is far more than just a
• 1:29
  greeting. Jesus is pouring out peace in
• 1:32
  the troubled hearts of the disciple.
• 1:34
  The same peace that calm the storm in the Galilee now calms
• 1:39
  their trembling hearts. And notice the wonder of it.
• 1:43
  He speaks peace to men who had abandoned Him just days before.
• 1:48
  Peter, who denied him, was also present there.
• 1:52
  This is not peace based on the eligibility of the disciples,
• 1:56
  but based on the grace of Jesus. Jesus fills them with His peace.

  Now moving from verses 21 through 23 we see that the
• 2:09
  Father sent the Son on a mission of redemption.
• 2:13
  Now the Son sends his disciple on the same mission.
• 2:17
  But disciples cannot go on their own strength.
• 2:20
  So in verse 22 we read He breathed on them and said,
• 2:26
  receive the Holy Spirit. With the help of the Holy
• 2:30
  Spirit, each disciple fulfills the plan and the purpose of
• 2:34
  taking the message of forgiveness to all the nations.
• 2:38
  Jesus had a plan and purpose for them.
• 2:43
  And here is the assurance for all of us from this passage.
• 2:46
  When we feel shut by circumstances or fears, no doors
• 2:51
  can shut out Christ's presence. He walks through walls that no
• 2:55
  human hand can open. He stands exactly where we are.
• 3:00
  He fills us with His peace so that we can understand His plan
• 3:04
  and purpose for our own lives. Let's experience His presence
• 3:09
  with His peace and be guided to His plan as well as the purpose
• 3:14
