- 0:01Speaker 1: Thanks Mike. Yes, we're back with Kraken head coach Lane
- 0:03Speaker 1: Lambert following a thrilling three to two overtime win last night.
- 0:07Speaker 1: You had to overcome a second consecutive third period deficit,
- 0:10Speaker 1: but you guys got back to your system and did
- 0:12Speaker 1: what makes you successful. Just take us through your thoughts
- 0:14Speaker 1: on that game.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it's I thought the game was. The first
- 0:19Speaker 2: period was a little a little bit back and forth,
- 0:25Speaker 2: you know. Again, second period we we had I thought
- 0:29Speaker 2: we were just okay in the second period, but you know,
- 0:32Speaker 2: to go down a goal, you know, we've made a habit,
- 0:35Speaker 2: and we don't want to continue to make a habit
- 0:37Speaker 2: of it, but we've made a habit a little bit
- 0:39Speaker 2: of coming back in games, which is really good to see.
- 0:42Speaker 2: You know what, shows our players are resilient and they believe.
- 0:44Speaker 2: So I was good to get the win.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Philip Grubauer turned out another very strong performance. What have
- 0:49Speaker 1: you noticed about his game? And obviously you having not
- 0:52Speaker 1: been here and seen in the last few years, but
- 0:54Speaker 1: what have you thought of his progression this season and
- 0:57Speaker 1: how he's improved year over year?
- 1:00Speaker 2: Yeah, No, he's he's played well this year, you know, obviously, Uh,
- 1:04Speaker 2: and you know, for Groovy, I think he put in
- 1:07Speaker 2: a strong summer. I think he had a great attitude
- 1:11Speaker 2: coming in and you know it's shown, uh in his
- 1:16Speaker 2: play this year. So he was real good for us
- 1:18Speaker 2: last night. We needed him to be real good for us,
- 1:21Speaker 2: and he was. And uh, you know, I'm happy for him.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Six years here in New York as an assistant and
- 1:26Speaker 1: a head coach, you were able to come back last
- 1:28Speaker 1: year as an assistant, but your first trip back as
- 1:29Speaker 1: a head coach here with Seattle. What is your time
- 1:32Speaker 1: on Long Island meant to you? And what can you
- 1:34Speaker 1: reflect about your time here that that helped you in
- 1:36Speaker 1: this role with Seattle.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Well, my time in Long Island was outstanding. I mean
- 1:41Speaker 2: we had a lot of success here. Uh, you know,
- 1:43Speaker 2: two conference finals, you know, a game seven won, nothing
- 1:47Speaker 2: lost away from going to the Stanley Cup finals. You know,
- 1:51Speaker 2: just a lot of a lot of winning and uh,
- 1:56Speaker 2: you know, just a lot about you know, culture and
- 1:59Speaker 2: and doing the right things and so you know, really
- 2:02Speaker 2: enjoyed it opened this building up, was part of that
- 2:04Speaker 2: played at the coliseum, which was amazing in the playoffs.
- 2:08Speaker 2: A lot of good things and a lot of good
- 2:09Speaker 2: memories here.
- 2:10Speaker 1: What'd you learn about your time as a head coach
- 2:12Speaker 1: here with the Islanders that you've applied to this second
- 2:15Speaker 1: stent for you.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Now, well, I mean you guys have asked me this
- 2:17Speaker 2: question a few times, you know. I mean there's always
- 2:20Speaker 2: lessons that you learn and experiences that you have, and
- 2:23Speaker 2: you know, I just I just think that you know,
- 2:26Speaker 2: the second time around, you you take those lessons, you
- 2:29Speaker 2: take those experiences, you apply them and you try to
- 2:32Speaker 2: be better for them.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Like the West, the Eastern Conference very crowded, the Islanders
- 2:36Speaker 1: right in the thick of that playoff race. What about
- 2:39Speaker 1: them makes them so talented? Obviously Matthew Schaffer, the players
- 2:43Speaker 1: that they have. But what type of issues do you
- 2:44Speaker 1: think they can provide here tonight for your team?
- 2:46Speaker 2: Well, they have a bit of everything. They're heavy, you know,
- 2:49Speaker 2: Paul mary Lee upfront, their dynamic Barzel horror Vat Shaeffer
- 2:54Speaker 2: on the back end, and they're solid when you look
- 2:57Speaker 2: at Pella Pullock, you know their back end and their goaltending.
- 3:02Speaker 2: I think Riddick's play tonight, but he's good and Sir
- 3:04Speaker 2: Opan's outstanding. So they've got a good hockey team here
- 3:08Speaker 2: and they're doing a real nice job of playing fast
- 3:11Speaker 2: and you know, having their dejoin and and you know
- 3:13Speaker 2: be part of the offense.
- 3:14Speaker 1: And you know they're doing a real good job here.
- 3:17Speaker 1: It's another back to back for your group. How do
- 3:19Speaker 1: you what's the game plan going into this game to
- 3:21Speaker 1: carry that momentum over from these last two nights into
- 3:23Speaker 1: tonight and closing out the road trips strong.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Well, it's the same game plan as we had last night.
- 3:28Speaker 2: But we you know, we have to start well, we
- 3:29Speaker 2: have to take that momentum that we had in the
- 3:32Speaker 2: third period and carry it into the first period tonight.
- 3:34Speaker 2: I thought we had great momentum in Chicago. I didn't
- 3:36Speaker 2: necessarily know that we carried it into the first period
- 3:38Speaker 2: last night. So we've got to make sure we do that.
