- 1:30[SPEAKER_07]: The slug fest you dare not miss.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_07]: In the forefront, we see Ice Man blasting Hercules with Ice Project dials while forming solid ice with his other hand, Hercules has his legs so far apart as he rips an entire structure of bricks down and he heads them over his head.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_07]: In the air, we see Angel swooping down at Black Widow, who's firing a Widow's blast into his chest.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_07]: And overhead, Ghost Rider is propelling his motorcycle in the air toward Hercules.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_07]: The artists on this cover are a rich buckler, Dan Adkins, an herb autonomy, Stanley presents the champions in Murder at Malibu.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_07]: It begins with a walk on the beach, a rare beautiful morning for it, the air crisp and cool with the bite of winter.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_07]: The sky clear as cut crystal and azure blue from horizon to horizon.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_07]: It's a once in a lifetime day, one that's meant to be savered and remembered or sold black widow thinks.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_07]: One even a god could appreciate if only he'd care to notice.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_07]: In full costume, Hercules angrily stomps down the beach with black widow, wearing a brown coat over
- 2:32[SPEAKER_04]: I tell thee widow that it tough pain my heart to see Pluto turn against my father, Zeus, and yet go unpunished for his treachery.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_13]: The war is over, Hercules.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_13]: Give it a rest, little gambled and he lost, and there's the end of it.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_07]: And yet amid the silence and the beauty, something moves.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_04]: The end?
- 2:51[SPEAKER_04]: Ha!
- 2:51[SPEAKER_04]: I think not, Melady, though, be no ending so long as Pluto lives to covet my father's throne.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_07]: Slipping stealthily from doom to doom, waiting, watching, stalking.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_13]: An armistice thing, then a pause for a breath, isn't that for something?
- 3:08[SPEAKER_04]: That was spiciest all right, but it would have been a glorious war.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_07]: Until the man figure sees its chance and strikes, you wanted a war Hercules, well here it comes, a large figure jumps off a rock, covered in black as the seagulls fly over head and slams directly into the demigod with a fathom.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_07]: We won't see his face for a bit yet, but this villain, his name is Billy.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah!
- 3:31[SPEAKER_07]: By all the gods, Melady, we are attacked!
- 3:34[SPEAKER_13]: Whoever he is.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_13]: He chose a perfect sight for his ambush.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_13]: Too much loose sand to see who he is.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_13]: And there's no way to defend myself on this doomed slope.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_13]: But first things first.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_13]: Natasha, get rid of your coat.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_13]: And then we reach the beach proper.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_13]: You're able to move like so.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_13]: Hey, yeah!
- 3:54[SPEAKER_13]: I tried to do this three minutes.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_07]: The bulk of this winter initially knocks Black Widow into the sand.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_07]: But she angles herself for the perfect kit with a look.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_13]: I don't believe it.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_13]: I hit him with a near-gilling blow and the man is still coming.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_13]: He's so face-fast too, but my friend, the black widow, is faster.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_13]: Incredible.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_13]: He ran into my kick, the man has absolutely no knowledge of the martial arts.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_13]: All the better than this battle will be quickly ended.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_07]: There's another kick to the man's day.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_07]: Prak and then the black widow prepares a karate chop, but a wave of water from the beach hits her, starling her.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_13]: I didn't see it coming.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_13]: It's throwing me off balance, tossing me into this man's arms.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_07]: Oh, you're gonna roll play this later.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_13]: Ha ha ha ha.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_13]: Where am I supposed to get a beat shot this short notice?
- 4:44[SPEAKER_07]: Things move in a blur now, the man figure grabbing Natasha in hands like still vices, lifting her high before she can break free only to smash her down.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_13]: Wow!
- 4:53[SPEAKER_13]: No time to roll with the punch, no time.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_13]: Ugh!
- 4:56[SPEAKER_07]: Indeed, widow, it seems that now there is only time for you to die.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_07]: The man whose face remains in shadow, lifts black widow over his head with a single hand.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_11]: Billy's gonna kill you, lady.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_11]: Billy's gonna kill you, dad.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_11]: Kill you, kill you, kill you, kill you.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_04]: And perhaps you would have died, had you been alone?
- 5:16[SPEAKER_04]: The Black Widow, the villain has her helpless, and there'd be no way for Hercules to return time.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_04]: But Hercules is ever the prince of power, and the Black Widow is his friend.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_04]: Thus, she will not die!
- 5:29[SPEAKER_07]: Hercules punches the ground, boom, shock waves, ripple the ground like jelly, and the man figures staggers, crying out in strange, un-reasoning panic at the God-born tremor.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_07]: A panic that quickly fades as hercules approaches to be replaced by anger and hatred.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_11]: You tried to hurt Billy?
- 5:46[SPEAKER_11]: Billy's gonna make you pay for that, mister.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_11]: Billy's gonna make you pay good.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_04]: By Aries mortal, the force of thy blow would do an Olympian proud, but a thousand such would do the no good for this day, though, dust, face, power, and carnage.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_04]: Now, dust, face, hurt, Billy's.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_07]: Billy hits hercules with a black then the godling throws his foe into a rock wall with a batom.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_04]: In truth, in this brief combat half-east, the bleakness in my soul, thou art well, widow?
- 6:16[SPEAKER_13]: I'm fine, Hercules, but what about?
- 6:18[SPEAKER_13]: Oh, my God!
- 6:19[SPEAKER_04]: Father Zeus, this cannot be!
- 6:21[SPEAKER_04]: This is madness, madness!
- 6:23[SPEAKER_04]: This mortal struck me like a warrior born yet mine eyes perceive him to be not, but an old man.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_13]: Who possesses the strength and physique of a man one for his age?
- 6:33[SPEAKER_07]: But to hear us finally good to look at their foe, Billy is a muscular but elderly man with a frightened look in his eye and a mop of unkempt white hair on his head.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_07]: He's wearing green and the pocket on his shirt reads San Marino State Hospital.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_11]: Don't hurt Billy miss!
- 6:50[SPEAKER_11]: Please don't hurt Billy no more!
- 6:52[SPEAKER_13]: I be good!
- 6:53[SPEAKER_13]: No one's going to hurt you old one.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_13]: Hercules, get back to the Angel's house.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_13]: Have you gone so in for an ambulance?
- 7:00[SPEAKER_07]: But suddenly the beach is overrun by six garishly-clad mercenaries in green and black with only their faces exposed.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_07]: And all of them hold guns that fire can cost of energy.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, that won't be necessary, Miss O'Billy here's an odd charge.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_09]: We'll take care of him if you don't mind.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_13]: Curious, sir, and curious, sir.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_13]: Six arm mercenaries to deal with one old man.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_13]: I find that some what are to believe.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, believe it or not, lady.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_09]: He's coming with us.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_04]: Hold tight tongue mortal.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_04]: This graveyard is under the protection of Hercules.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_04]: That was Tom Himmett, tight peril.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_08]: No way, Olympian.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_08]: If you want to get involved, then you gotta pay the price.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_08]: Die happy folks.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_08]: The mercenary opens fires.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_08]: The wreck!
- 7:46[SPEAKER_08]: My lady!
- 7:46[SPEAKER_04]: Beware!
- 7:47[SPEAKER_04]: The mortals weapon!
- 7:48[SPEAKER_07]: Aaaaaargh!
- 7:50[SPEAKER_07]: And it worked!
- 7:51[SPEAKER_07]: The two heroes are defeated, and put in shackles, Black Widow, with a band around her neck, Hercules, with two on his arms, which are pinned behind his back.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_07]: Time!
- 7:59[SPEAKER_07]: Part of it is lost in darkness, the rest shrouded in gray, fog-like images, as elusive as wood sprites.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_07]: A building, old, worn down by age and neglect, its outer walls topped
- 8:15[SPEAKER_07]: abilding the San Marino state hospital and a man, Dr. Edward Lansing, he sits diminutive, in a green suit, in a green chair, his hands clasped eagerly.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_07]: His hairline is receding, his ears stick out.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_07]: He wears glasses.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_07]: He hardly looks dangerous.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_02]: Ah, you're awake, I see.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome to San Marino, Mr. Hercules.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yes, I know your name.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yours and Madam Romanoffs from the newspapers.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_02]: I'm honored to have you as my guest.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_04]: That's it.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, though, there is to name us.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, that'll just not bind, like, yes to villain.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_04]: And that will never bind hercules.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_07]: Hercules breaks through his bonds.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_04]: The cat can immediately punch as a mercenary in the crotch, ram, stop a new fool, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah
- 9:16[SPEAKER_02]: I beg to differ Olympian, for if you do not yield now, your beauty is companion dies.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_02]: With the push of the button, he activates an electro-shock in Black Widow's collar.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_04]: Though, has the upper hand mortal, for the knots, I'll do not, that would threaten the Black Widow's life.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_04]: But if Hercules must need to be caged, I would know the name of the car, who holds the key.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_13]: his name is Lansing, my friend.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_13]: Dr. Edward Lansing.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_13]: And he is insane.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_07]: Lansing space changes from one full of fury to a wide smile as Hercules is again shackled.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_07]: Lansing takes out a comb and runs it through his whisper hair.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_02]: Hardly insane, my dear.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_02]: I am a visionary, a man who will expand the frontiers
- 10:01[SPEAKER_13]: You are a butcher, lancing.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_02]: Just that's the language, madam Romanoff, I'm surprised at you.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_02]: Why not allow me to explain my work to your immortal colleague here?
- 10:10[SPEAKER_02]: We'll let him make a bison to mine.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_02]: Using my friend Edward Lansing was not always as you see him now, director of a 10th rate welfare hospital.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_02]: Oh no, once I held a full professorship at a great teaching hospital, but the administration disapproved my theories, my method, the full was, and I was dismissed.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_02]: So I came to a San Marino, this dumping ground for those society, which is to ignore.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_02]: create the legendary Super Self-Josepharium to create a race of invincible warriors and here, as San Marino, I experimented on my population of outcasts.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_02]: No one interested in their fate, no one caring, and after years of failure, years of death recorded as accident or natural causes, I succeeded.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_02]: I created my mutate, my warriors to freedom,
- 11:07[SPEAKER_07]: In a series of flashbacks, we see lancing experimenting bodies being carried out and finally Billy shifting from emaciated patient to massive strong man.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_07]: And if you know nothing about this man besides his ethics, he loves a monologue.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_02]: You've watched my photo type, old Billy, on the beach after he'd managed to escape.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_02]: Unfortunately, the process seems to affect the men mentally.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_02]: It tends to turn them into child-like simpletons, or mindless beasts, but I'll work that out in time.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_04]: I have heard Enau, butchers too kind of a word for thee.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_04]: Mortal, for surely that aren't the greatest monsters who ever walk the earth.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_04]: And bounder know, I'll see the damned ear thou dust torment another in this place.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_07]: Hercules kicks a mercenary in the face.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_07]: Ketam, the sound effect blocks us from seeing up his skirt, by the way, as he resists his leg.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_07]: And there's probably some sand up there, he was just on the beach.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_07]: Anyway, but Lansing still has the debt later.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_02]: At the cost of black widow's life immortal, I thought not.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_02]: I'm glad you have some feeling for the woman Hercules.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_02]: It makes my job that much easier.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_02]: Enjoyed I triumph, while thou can, dog, thou hast one, only a battle, not the war.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_04]: I, I'm sorry, Hercules.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_04]: There is no need, my lady.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_04]: We are still alive.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_04]: And we will yet prevail.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_04]: Ta!
- 12:28[SPEAKER_02]: You have the right idea.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_02]: Olympian, but the wrong man for this eye who will prevail because when I've finished with you too, you'll tell me your innermost secrets and serve me as blindly, as lowly as any of my mutate.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_07]: time.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_07]: And now we're past sunset at the beach house of war and wording to the third aka the angel.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_07]: A place where things are about to happen.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_07]: How this narration feels like purred happily from Parks and Recreation.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_07]: Yep.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_07]: Angel is in full costume, all ketchup and mustard colors, leaning against a wall in front of a fire.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_07]: Yvonne wears a tight red sweater and green pants, a fire roaring behind him, and Iceman and Orange and Blue sits on the couch while reading No Joke, an X-Men comic, remember a clear-mots-ranting this issue.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_06]: I tell you, Angel, like worried about Natasha.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_06]: She's been going all day without the message.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_06]: You phone, nothing.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_17]: She's not a kid, Ivan.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_17]: She can take care of herself.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and besides, she's out with Hercules, but best spine the world teams up with an Olympian demigod for crying out loud.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_07]: What could happen to them?
- 13:34[SPEAKER_07]: You had to ask Bobby Drake, the wall is ripped down as Hercules punches through, from Black Widow, and three other super strong, presumably mentally ill patients from the hospital are right behind him.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, no, Bobby dropped his X-Men comic.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_04]: In the name of the master, oh, within these walls must die!
- 13:52[SPEAKER_03]: Hey man, what's going on here?
- 13:53[SPEAKER_03]: Is this some kind of joke?
- 13:55[SPEAKER_17]: Take a look in his eyes pal.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_17]: This is no joke.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_17]: There are friends, and they want us dead.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_17]: I don't know what's going down lady, but if you want to clip this mutant's wings, you're gonna have to do a whole lot better than that.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_17]: Angel flies at Black Widow, while Ice Man generates a sheet of ice underneath Hercules, who falls with a scrum.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_03]: And the same goes for Ice Man, Olympian.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_03]: Let's see you try and punch me out of one of my patented ice slides.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_03]: And I don't think you could do a big math.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_03]: Nice talk, Mr. Drake.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_03]: But that little number just left you wide open for herks Harry playmates.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_03]: And these clowns are definitely out for blood.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_07]: Oh, herks Harry playmates is Iceman's exact sex dream.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_07]: I think I'm still in his human form and civilian clothes.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_07]: Iceman is overwhelmed by the super strong mutates.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_07]: Ivan Petrovitch, Slap Swan with a sock.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_07]: And Iceman now covered a nice, knocks the rest back.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_07]: In a panel that colored like the whole place's on fire, weirdly.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_06]: Play the beardless to you.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_06]: Hold on, dude.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_06]: From God's sake, hold on.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_06]: I'll get you out of here.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_06]: But how are you been hauling these heris or swarming all over the house?
- 14:56[SPEAKER_06]: Knocked one down, do more jump to take his place.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_03]: Don't sweat it, Ivan.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_03]: It'll take a lot more than these doodles to lump the ice, man.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_03]: Heck, man, I knew a danger room once that was more hassle than this.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_03]: Way to go, fella.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_03]: It should have taken more than a couple of ice blasts to put these heris to bed.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_07]: We're really focused on their hair.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_04]: Mm-hmm, that still must do with me, use!
- 15:20[SPEAKER_03]: Huh, Hercules?
- 15:21[SPEAKER_03]: Didn't see him coming.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_04]: You will, Winkyface.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_07]: And thou can't not!
- 15:26[SPEAKER_07]: Hercules with a POW!
- 15:28[SPEAKER_07]: It's not a fancy, with a control box full of knobs.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_07]: We'll be Richard Fenster next time.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_02]: Excellent.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_02]: My brain scrambled a mortal, excellent.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_02]: You, with the widow, are performing better than I'd hoped.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_03]: feel like mush inside muzzy, but I can't give up now.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_03]: I can't hold the youth.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_02]: My new dates let Hercules administer the cool degree for the moment Hercules and the black widow will kill their friends then my conditioning will be complete and they will be my slaves forever huh?
- 15:56[SPEAKER_02]: That noise coming from beyond the doon.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_07]: Mmm, the man's name is Blaze, Johnny Blaze, known better perhaps as the Ghost Strider.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_07]: With good reason, before you have very eyes, watch as the human stuntman turns into a skeletal demon with wild eyes, his very skull, a lighting with Hellfire.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_08]: What the, those men, things gathered outside Angel's house.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_08]: Whatever it is, it must be bad news because I can feel myself starting to change.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_08]: Well, if it's a fight you creeps want, then the Ghost Riders glad to give you one.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_07]: Angel rushes forward slamming into Hercules, Brawm, Ghost Riders ready with a blast to fire, but Hercules punches and right off the motorcycle track!
- 16:36[SPEAKER_08]: Nice talk please, but how about putting your money where your mouth is for what's before we all get creed?
- 16:40[SPEAKER_08]: Huh?
- 16:41[SPEAKER_08]: The angel announcement tackle in Hercules was going on here, cowboy.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_04]: I encourage it's great mortal, but the, and I companions dust face one who has stood bloat a blow with Thor.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_08]: Lord above, he took my strongest bolts of hellfire and shrugged him off as if they were nothing.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_07]: Iceman is ready, covering Hercules in ice, which is its own form of someone getting creamed, I suppose.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_04]: Hercules bursts free, Scrafam, for I am Hercules, Prince of Power, and there's no mortal born who can stand against me.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_03]: He's right, blast it.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_03]: The Lansing dudes got him brainwashed into believing worth a bad guys, and Hercules isn't going to
- 17:22[SPEAKER_17]: Maybe so, Iceman, but if this is the night we're going to die, let's make sure we die like heroes.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_07]: Picture it, Sicily 19, excuse me, picture it, the sign on of Zeus turned against his friends, facing fire on one hand, ice on the other, facing attack from the air, facing men who have beat some of the most deadly villains in history.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_07]: facing almost indescribable levels of raw, unbridled power, and standing triumphant against them all.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_07]: It's a battle out of legend, thought this even tied on a chill, win-tree, malibu, beach, a battle for the lives of man and the soul of one, a battle that can only end in tragedy.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_07]: As this one might, meanwhile, Ivan punches one of those mutates back.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_06]: Then fights the Black Widow herself, and she's all kicks, walking elbows, talking fists, crack, got new, you fuzzy face terror, and as far as I can tell, you're the last.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_06]: Not the last, my friend, you forgot the Black Widow.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_06]: Natasha, little girls are in her.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_06]: It's me, Ivan, not you shit, she don't know me, and that lightning kick will take my head off if it connects.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_06]: If it connects, score one for the old guy.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_06]: No, she turned my barrier against me, she's coming into fast to block.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_13]: The Master once you did my friend, and the Black Widow is here to see that the Master gets what he wants.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_07]: I've been his pinned, and Black Widow grips him by the throat, and begins to choke.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_06]: Not Hosha!
- 18:48[SPEAKER_06]: Need to hurry, not do this!
- 18:51[SPEAKER_06]: Choking me, I beg you, Tosha, please!
- 18:55[SPEAKER_13]: Nothing personal friend, friend.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_13]: You are a friend, my mind burning as if it's on fire inside, can't think, but I know you don't die.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_13]: You're, you're Ivan, oh my God, what have I done?
- 19:07[SPEAKER_13]: Ivan forgive me, Ivan, I almost, I could have.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_02]: Kill him, you have him at your mercy, we don't kill him.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_13]: Lansing.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_02]: Of course, it's me, I'm your master, widow, and I order you to kill him.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_07]: But Lansing has an energy blaster.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_13]: Surprise!
- 19:30[SPEAKER_13]: Surprise!
- 19:31[SPEAKER_02]: Rebellion A?
- 19:32[SPEAKER_02]: Well, that's easily dealt with.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_13]: With that toy Lansing?
- 19:36[SPEAKER_02]: This is no toy woman.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_02]: This new little disruptor will fry your nervous system in an instant.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_13]: Only if it hits me, the little man.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_13]: And hitting the wither is very hard to do, in fact.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_13]: It's next to your possible, hey yeah.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_07]: I love this Miss Piggy Energy.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_07]: The heroine does a series of impressive kicks and flips the guns kicked out of Lansing's hand.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_07]: Contract, the villain falls with a flop but like flop with a pH.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_07]: And then he's lost his glasses, oh no, and his control device.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_02]: No, I can't lose now, not when I've worked so hard.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_02]: And I won't lose what does it matter that the video is broken my conditioning.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_02]: Come on, Bucks.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_02]: Where are you, Bucks?
- 20:18[SPEAKER_02]: I still control Hercules, and I'll keep controlling him so long as the Bucks remains intact.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_07]: Got it.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_07]: The villain fumbles along the ground, quickly finding the Bucks, but black widows foot is faster.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_07]: Scrunch!
- 20:31[SPEAKER_13]: No, no, no, no, it's just you and me now, that's you and me.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_02]: No, I can still escape.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_02]: Rally my mercenary's rally, my mutates, oh my lord, the mutates.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_02]: I forgot, their animals now, held in check only by my control box, and with it destroyed, there'll be hunting me, mercy, all of you have pity in God's day, mercy, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
- 20:58[SPEAKER_07]: Against a black backdrop, the man runs surrounded by golden eyes, then fully disappearing.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_07]: Dawn and little has changed.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_07]: There's a new corpse on the beach, waiting for the police to come card at a way, a corpse surrounded by a half dozen aimless shuffling things that had once been human.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_04]: Hercules, you all right, man?
- 21:18[SPEAKER_04]: You've been out here all night.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_04]: I am!
- 21:21[SPEAKER_04]: Well, mortal, my brain sickness is past.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_17]: The cops will be here soon.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_04]: They'll see that Lansing's mutates will be well looked after.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_04]: Looked after, I, but they can never be cured.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_04]: They can never regain the humanity Lansing stole from them.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_04]: They were innocent boy, and they trusted Lansing to care for them, and he repaired their trust by destroying their souls.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_17]: All right, there's evil in the world, Hercules, and Lansing was a part of it, but there's good as well, and we're a part of that.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_17]: The question is, do we do anything about it or do we sit around crying in our beer?
- 21:52[SPEAKER_17]: Like it or not, folks, where you meet, we've got power and I hope the responsibility, the duty to use it wisely, to help those who can't help themselves, the innocent, the victims of people like Lansing, because the world still needs champions.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_17]: And he invites everyone back into his
- 22:10[SPEAKER_07]: And as the sun sets in the orange sky over the ocean, our five heroes are turned toward the horizon, they're backs black with shadow.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_07]: Next, Los Angeles faces its worst threat since the earthquake, and only the champions can save it from the mad man known as Rampage.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_07]: And you won't forget, I will get there next time.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_07]: Oh wow, this is a crazy story.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_07]: I'm so happy to be joined by my dear friends for this one.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_07]: We gotta open with the problematic stuff.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_07]: The thing that makes this story really crazy is lancing himself is very much drawn as kind of an Asian stereotype.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_07]: You wanna look at it as kind of a nerdy white guy, but it kind of looks like Mickey Rooney in like breakfast and breakfast isn't that like freely racist role.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_07]: So if you read that way, it's really uncomfortable.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_07]: What's we're experimenting on the elderly slash mentally ill?
- 22:59[SPEAKER_07]: So delicate subject matter, brilliantly handled by first Bill Cv and also Ryan Croll.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_07]: Let me hear from each of you on what it was like living in the world of these crazy villains.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you know, Kristi had pointed out to me because I read the issue ahead of time that he also looks like the the main bad guy from Raiders of the last hour who melts at the end of the issue.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_02]: Are they in the movie?
- 23:19[SPEAKER_02]: So that's kind of just how I saw him and channeled him in my head I didn't quite pick up on the Mickey Rooney if it but now that you pointed out I'm like, oh, I can see that yeah
- 23:29[SPEAKER_10]: For Billy it's strange.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_10]: I was like is he is he very old with a young mind?
- 23:34[SPEAKER_10]: So I kind of approached it like that.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_10]: But kind of childlike I feel like it was whatever trying to get through it to him.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_07]: You read him very like the like the scary uh, amped up villain that keeps getting knocked down and getting back up rather than with like dumb Hulk voice.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_07]: If I think was very a very smart character choice.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_07]: Hulk smash Billy smash really really smash I hope Billy has a good happy life somewhere.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_07]: We're also assuming it was lancing dead on the beach you know there was a corpse that says but we've never seen lancing again that's a character that has never ever returned.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_07]: Christy as Black Widow here who you declare might love the powerful woman but she's kind of the the POV character here which is fun
- 24:15[SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, I mean, even before I realized that this was a Claire Matt had penned this one.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_13]: I was like, oh, I have a lot of lines in this like as black widow.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_13]: I mean, not that like normally, you know, I don't have anything to say in these champions books, that there is definitely more of a focus on black widow, which is, you're like he said, totally a Claire month thing.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_13]: It's like, oh, there's one lady here for me to play with.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_13]: Well, I, we're going to play with her.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_13]: Wait, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't know.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_07]: It's her devotion to it is on the breaks her control.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_07]: You get a lot of crazy history with these two retconned later, but he was the guy that liked saved her as a kid.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_07]: But then later, he turns into a super villain because he wants to fuck her.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_07]: It's a whole, he has a crazy... Tails, I'll tell you.
- 24:55[UNKNOWN]: He's the guy.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_07]: But, yeah, really, really delightful read.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_07]: And it sucks to see Black Widow kind of lose her will here, right?
- 25:04[SPEAKER_07]: Of course she gets it back, but that's always a rough story that mind-controlled thing.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, I think it's kind of refreshing, not in like a, um, well, though, that she, you know, breaks it through the power of friendship, which, you know, is always a fun, you know, to, you know, to advice to get through a tricky plot situation.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_13]: But, like, also that she's not the only one.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_13]: It is her end her Achilles.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_13]: It's not just like, oh, the girl, all loses her brain, you know, for a spell.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_07]: Also, she's a ballerina slash mercenary next to the literal Greek god of power.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_07]: So like she's holding her own, she's just doing okay.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_07]: I think you yell, I am hacky like 14 times.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_15]: Just a kiss anyway for kids.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_04]: And I loved making Kevin laugh every time I did it.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_04]: I look up and he's giggling at me.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_04]: I think hercules was fun in this one because I think what Chris did well with his character is used to strength against him.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_04]: So we get to see like, I can beat you all up, but I don't want to hurt my friend over here with him.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_04]: And even in the end, he's love powerless with everything that's happened to him.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_04]: So I think this was an interesting take and a little bit of a change for our hercules.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_07]: Uh, we just got to spend some time with Zeus and Hercules home in the last few issues and Zeus doesn't give a shit about moral right there's playthings But here's Hercules like genuinely grieving at the end over these kind of lost souls who who've lost their purpose Which I think is very sweet.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_07]: There is that single image of him like kicking and like you look straight up his skirt But the the sound effect is blocking what you can do You know what it was just a big old dog
- 26:42[SPEAKER_07]: Welcome back to Michael Ham.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_07]: First is the newsy slash mercenary.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_07]: Well, I'm by some banks kid and then we go.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_07]: Tell me about a ghost writer's very brief journey here.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_08]: I don't know why they really need to make that bike important in these issues.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_08]: He's always just doing his own thing and then just comes in on his bike for some reason.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_08]: It is like, I've got four things to say.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_08]: Oh, my energy blast didn't work.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_08]: Anyway, I'll see you later.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_07]: 70's Ghost Rider has like a whole rogue's gallery that are all like motorcycle riding supervillains.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_07]: Like it's a big thing.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_07]: They're really like trying to latch on to this trope like evil can evil energy.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_08]: It really feels like they're just trying to sell the bike.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_08]: Like he can't ever just be there ready to fight.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_08]: He always has to be on the bike coming in on the bike, getting knocked off the bike, jumping off the bike.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_08]: I get it.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_08]: He's a Ghost Rider.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_08]: He's not just Ghost.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_08]: I get it.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_13]: It's just a locker.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_08]: That's so true.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_08]: Ghost hitchhiker.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_08]: Ghosty.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_08]: Already there.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_04]: There was theme music in my head when he jumped over that, you know, it's first appearance, something over that cliff.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_04]: There's theme music.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_07]: Oh, we also have Kevin Clauer.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_07]: It was a Russian island petrol.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_07]: It was a good comfort like this.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_05]: Well, now he speaks Russian.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_05]: I love you so much.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_05]: And that was better than my accent tonight, so I apologize.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_05]: It was bad tonight.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_05]: I just was not ready mentally for this.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_10]: Kevin, I liked that.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_10]: It was like sort of like an old timey greaser too.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_10]: It was a little little Danny Zuko, which I kind of liked.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_05]: It was terrible, and it didn't help that I knew Philip was here and can do a much better, much better fresh and accepted me, and so I was like this is terrible.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_05]: Are you some of my other struck over Xmanard's Phil CV right now, right?
- 28:22[SPEAKER_07]: Who is it?
- 28:22[SPEAKER_02]: Amir, my Russian goes to Italian really fast.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_15]: That might go to Spanish, here we are.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_07]: My English Irish every time.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_07]: So yeah, we're all here for it.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_07]: Ivana's kind of written in that very 1920s.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_07]: His dialogue is written in that way.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_07]: But he's a Russian character.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_07]: And he's like a 60-year-old man.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_07]: It's a weird way that they write his dialogue some of the time.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_05]: I wish I looked that good at 60.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_07]: uh... he later we later learned he takes one of those like anti-aging uh... serum it carries that all we live in nineteen thirty so they have to do something with the type of scale uh... we've also got angel here uh... who is enjoying his time candy southern is not around and so he's just hanging out with his buds uh... at the beach but he gets the big kind of uh... don't lose faith to the god character at the end which i think is very sweet for war and uh... make it welcome back as angel
- 29:09[SPEAKER_17]: Yeah, thanks.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_17]: Yeah, I feel like Angel and Iceman didn't have a whole lot to do this tie around other than, you know, slap them some people around a little bit, but it wasn't nice to have the whole little speech at the end there and wrap things up, try to give her feelings a moment to himself to to really remember why he's, you know, doing the things that he's doing.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_17]: So that was a nice way to add.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_07]: Claremont hates these two, but especially ice-man with the welcome back to Scott for his Bobby today.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_07]: Thanks.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_03]: I was going to say you can tell that this is a Chris Claremont script, because he hates Bobby Drake.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_03]: And all Bobby does this issue is read a comic book and then get slapped around and be like weirdly horny for hercules, which like understandable.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_03]: Chris has no time for Bobby and it shows.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_07]: Look at Harry men in my house.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_07]: Oh, I don't know what to do.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_13]: Oh, yeah, I think beardless use was like a pretty low dig.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_13]: Bobby.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_07]: Not one of Bobby's finer outings, but I do enjoy again.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_07]: I think Hercules is kind of my star player here in some ways.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_07]: It's fun to see a black widow in action.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_07]: Although on the beaches are really weird place for it, right?
- 30:14[SPEAKER_07]: But Hercules also, like you are clearly a very evil man, tiny human in front of me, right?
- 30:21[SPEAKER_07]: Like,
- 30:22[SPEAKER_07]: Uh, like I love him calling him out as like the greatest evil that ever existed.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_07]: Uh, that that's a fun journey for me to see the god character written with so much thought.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_07]: But outside of Hercules and Buck Widow, the other characters are just kind of a long further right at this one, that the world still needs champions, right?
- 30:37[SPEAKER_05]: I just a quick thing just to reference when Sean said I giggled every time he said hercules because if you remember in like old time comics, whatever certain names were said it would be like the logo in the lettering box instead of just regular lettering and that's what it feels like the audible version of seeing the Hercules logo every time he says that name.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_05]: That's all I can picture.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_07]: Also Kevin works for Disney everyone and recently helped design a Hercules backpack and he's giving very like 15 year old school girl energy as he models it in a recent advertisement that's on his page go look at it the Hercules
- 31:09[SPEAKER_02]: I love kind of like the Claremontism of like whatever's happening is the most dramatic and important thing ever when Hercules tells what's this face like you are the worst villain in the history of mankind.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_02]: There's something I was like, well boy, there's a lot of bad people who are worse than this guy.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_07]: Time!
- 31:27[SPEAKER_07]: It passes and things happen during it.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_07]: And here is a place in which people are inside and things will also happen inside that place.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_07]: And the time and the place will both factor into this story, which is about to happen now.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_07]: Again, the purt happily of it all.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_07]: This is the most annoying narrator I've ever done on this show so far.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_07]: I hate it this big.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_07]: Thank you, this was a silly kind of fun one, but I love making these, I love that we're all friends that we get to hang out.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_07]: So this was a delightful time.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_07]: The next time we get to introduce rampage, who is a character I really love, we're gonna be giving him a lot of attention in the new year.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_07]: rampage is a recession era super villain.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_07]: It's a guy who loses his company and then turns super villain, but also he's at a really interesting character journey.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_07]: So kind of unforgettable, it's gonna be a great time and we have a different creative team.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_07]: So this was just a one time, one shot character for our issue for Chris Claremont.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_07]: And I love that he worked in the X-Men comic here.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_07]: That's also really, really fun.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_17]: Yeah, so you can find me at Illustrator.mic on Instagram.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_17]: I'll actually be tablearing at San Diego Zinefest on October 19th.

- 32:34[SPEAKER_17]: But otherwise, yeah, Illustrator.mic.

- 34:06[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I made me up for that one.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_03]: Scott, I will.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_03]: You're on the list.

- 34:15[SPEAKER_03]: Phil, don't hold your breath.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_07]: I've been on the Clone Conspiracy list for like a year and a half now, I think.
- 34:19[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I'm really good friends with the guy who designed this costume so I could talk about Tom Miles legacy so I can get up there a little bit.

- 35:09[SPEAKER_05]: I'm on Instagram at K.A.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_05]: Canyre.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_05]: I'll be starting a podcast just to put chat on the first episode of it just to see if that can happen.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_05]: But otherwise, I'm going to be a New York Comic Con this week coming up as you're listening to this, doing some community theater in the New York City area later in October.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_05]: If anybody's around, it was to see some silly theater.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_05]: And then I'm going to be listening to all the episodes of Grey Mocking Lane because that's what you should be doing.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_07]: Scott as we were teasing Scott for you just now gave us very like Charlie Brown and the football got yanked away one too many times.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_03]: Well, yeah, oh, and I will be back for the trial of the son of Satan continuing my gray mockingly and tradition of being on trials for the worst men possible.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_07]: in full cosplay.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_07]: I'm assuming everyone's coming in full car.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I'm going to be shirtless.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_03]: That is nothing to do with the show.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_10]: You can find me at Ryan Crawl, K-R-U-L-L.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_10]: Insta and we have weekly podcasts that come out for almost a period podcast and yeah, we're dealing with con season.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_10]: it's so sad.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_10]: So we're just getting back to the grind of like weekly episodes.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_13]: I'm Christy.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_13]: I can find me on Blue Sky at Christy Porter.
- 36:15[SPEAKER_13]: I am a writer, producer, cosplayer.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_13]: Hopefully, I'm going to have a anthology that Philip and I have a story in that is kickstarting the Soctober.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_13]: So keep
- 36:25[SPEAKER_07]: And I hope that's so grateful for all of you.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_07]: It's just delicious to hang out every time I'll be smiling all evening Stay tuned immediately after this for the Avengers number 140 read where the vision gets to go fully inside yellow jacket We mean like fully like yellow jacket's 50 feet high and like the vision's in his bloodstream It's like fully it's it's a whole journey will will be back here just a few minutes with that crazy story
- 36:48[SPEAKER_07]: everybody, thanks for sticking around for the second half.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_07]: I hope you enjoyed that wonderful champion's read.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_07]: We're going to continue our adventures, our Avengers adventures.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_07]: That's oddly kind of a tongue twister.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_07]: I am so excited to be joined by some of my very favorite people as we get to read this wonky 1975 script.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_07]: This is Avengers number 140 from October 1975.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_07]: Written by Steve Engelhardt, George Tuscca is on pencils, Vince Colletta on Inks, Petra Goldberg on colors, Charlotte Jettler on letters, and Marvel Wolfman on edits.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_07]: That means we got two women working on this book.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_07]: We're getting better as we get into the 70s.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_07]: I'm Chad Anderson.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_07]: I will be voicing your narrator today.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_22]: I'm Daniel Yulfard.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_22]: I'm voicing yellow jacket.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_00]: Hey guys, I'm Dominic Milton.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_00]: I'll be voicing everybody's favorite and joy vision.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_07]: Although, Tekkenki is a synthesolid, but I'll get her to you.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_20]: And I'm Jack Nichols, I'll be playing your Thor tonight as well as a guard.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_01]: I'm Allison Perry, and I'll be Scarlet Witch and Patsy Walker.
- 37:44[SPEAKER_14]: I'm Ginnelly, and I will be playing the Fabulous Wasp.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_14]: And the nurse.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_14]: Oh, and the nurse.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_16]: And I am Taylor Russell.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_16]: I will be your bouncing beast.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_12]: I'm Dwayne Martini, and I am your substitute moon dragon.
- 37:58[SPEAKER_07]: Sarah's out sick today, everybody.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_07]: But thanks to Amanda for joining us last minute.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_21]: I'm Matt Parent, and I will be Iron Man.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_19]: I'm Tom Donin, I'll be Jarvis, and Mr. Grant, and a civilian, and Dr. Horian.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_07]: On the cover, we have Gilcane and Mike Esposito, Thor and the Scarlet Witch are looking on as Beast is throwing a purple bottle to the vision whose phasing inside the chest of a giant unconscious yellow jacket.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_07]: Beast says,
- 38:23[SPEAKER_16]: Here's the antidote vision, better get it into yellow jacket, fast.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_00]: And vision says, I'm all my way beast, but I'm here, I'll come where I just already don't.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_07]: It's invasion of the 50 foot hero.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_07]: And there came a day, a day like any other, a day unlike any other.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_07]: When Earth's mightiest heroes in Harrow and found themselves united against a common threat.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_07]: On that day, the Avengers were born to fight the foes, no single superhero could withstand.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_07]: Through the years, their roster has prospered, changing many times, but their glory has never been denied.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_07]: He'd the call then for now, the Avengers assembled.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_07]: Stanley presents the mighty Avengers in, a journey to the center of the ant, which is not the group because he's a prime ant.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_07]: But we'll give him points for puns.
- 39:05[SPEAKER_07]: Previously in the Avengers, the Wasp was in critical care in the central hospital after being caught in an explosion set by the towed posing as a stranger, don't worry about it.
- 39:13[SPEAKER_07]: Her husband Yellowjacket is unhinged, and in a battle with the whirlwind, he altered his size too many times, triggering a neural response that may threaten his own life.
- 39:22[SPEAKER_07]: With Beast and Thor at Yellowjacket's side, Iron Man and Moon Dragon have gone to Laveria to find Hawkeye, who's been missing since he went looking for Dr. Doom's time platform, and Division in the Scarlett Witcher on their way back from the honeymoon.
- 39:33[SPEAKER_07]: There's also a lot happening at Patsy Walker's waiting on the front step of Avengers Mansion.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_07]: Seven minutes ago, Hank Pim called Yellowjacket, thrashed the man who had threatened his wife with some timely help from the beast.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_07]: Yellowjacket's fury over the wasps-grade injuries had finally found an outlet, and he fought with no holds barred.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_07]: Now on the steps of the hospital, Yellowjacket is doubled over in pain, soon falling to the ground.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_16]: Well, I guess World wouldn't have the wind taken out of his sails.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_16]: Now why don't we, Hank?
- 39:57[SPEAKER_16]: Hank, what is it, Avenger?
- 39:59[SPEAKER_16]: Oh my stars and garders, he collapsed.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_16]: What's wrong, buddy?
- 40:02[SPEAKER_16]: Did World get in a punch you didn't tell me about?
- 40:05[SPEAKER_16]: Hank, he's completely zonked.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_16]: I never, hey, wait a minute.
- 40:09[SPEAKER_16]: Are my BDI's begging for bifocals?
- 40:11[SPEAKER_16]: Or is he growing?
- 40:13[SPEAKER_16]: He is.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_16]: The Wasp warned us he hasn't wasn't to do any size changing these days.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_16]: Not with the microbe that trapped him at Antsize still in his blood.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_16]: She said it might act up on him again if he aggravated it.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_16]: But he wanted to hit somebody so bad.
- 40:26[SPEAKER_16]: And there he was telling me he was okay.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_07]: Beast scales up the wall to the Wasp's hospital room quickly.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_07]: Decide of a hospital is just like the yellow brick road to the beast.
- 40:35[SPEAKER_07]: So he bypasses the slower moving elevator.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_07]: Thor, we've got trouble!
- 40:39[SPEAKER_07]: Peakin' Remacoid, but in Yon-Hall.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_07]: The two Avengers step into the hallway, so the Wasp could rest.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_20]: Though I've done all an immortal of Asgard made do this day, the condition of Janet and Doth remain unchanged.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_20]: She must not suffer disturbance.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_20]: Then she'll be the only one on her block, Thunder God.
- 40:54[SPEAKER_16]: Come with me.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_07]: As the Avengers' newest applicant, Phil's Thor in on what's gone down since Yellow Jacket walked out on them last-ish, but that still doesn't prepare the godling.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_16]: Ones blood.
- 41:04[SPEAKER_16]: What have the fit to hear rock?
- 41:06[SPEAKER_16]: Whoof?
- 41:06[SPEAKER_16]: He shot up to 20 feet already.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_16]: And just a few minutes I was gone.
- 41:10[SPEAKER_16]: What is it with you Avengers Thor?
- 41:11[SPEAKER_19]: How could he do this to himself when his wife might need him?
- 41:14[SPEAKER_20]: This men-duff live his every moment for young woman, Doctor.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_20]: Yeah, done that, which she had, have desired.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_20]: And if this decree, they are both, oh my god.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, it's pretty good.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_20]: This kind of reading through this day, and like the sword dialogue is super storing in this one, it wasn't so bad in previous.
- 41:32[SPEAKER_20]: Okay.
- 41:32[SPEAKER_20]: This man doth live his every moment for young woman, doctor.
- 41:36[SPEAKER_20]: He had done that which she had to have desired, and if it's decreed that they are both to suffer for it, then it will be together now as always.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_19]: Let's get him out of the street at least.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_20]: I say we NAIDOCKTER.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_20]: If you don't grow even as we speak, he will soon fill any enclosure.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_16]: Hey, hey, hey, hey, Beast, whether it goes down.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_16]: Can't stop now, TG.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_16]: Just hold the fort.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_16]: I'm late.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_16]: I'm late for a very important...
- 41:59[SPEAKER_16]: whatever.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_16]: Yeah, about two years late, if memory serves, two years late for the fruits of my labors from that mental vineyard called the brand corporation.
- 42:08[SPEAKER_16]: And now, Nach, there's no time to lose.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_16]: After all, when I was a boy genius out there, I was working on a cure all for mutation.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_16]: Of course, there is one look.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_07]: And we're going to assume T.G.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_07]: meant Thunder God.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_07]: Beast goes bounding over the rooftops to his old employer while reminiscing about the end of his position during a time when he wore a latex mask to cover his fur.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_16]: So with my urgent personal business in Canada, Mr. Grant, I'll need a week off.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_19]: Why Hank, we can do better than that for you.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_19]: In fact, all the mysterious leaves of absence you've taken to to be hired you, we can let you off forever.
- 42:43[SPEAKER_07]: Beast was busy back then.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_07]: See, amazing adventures 16 and incredible Hulk 161 for examples.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_07]: Or go listen to the reviews on Grey Malkin' Lane, but in the present day, Beast thinks, well, yes, I guess I was a little bit less than thrilled.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_16]: While the Beast and the Flashback throw things out of wall in a fit.
- 43:00[SPEAKER_16]: Now that's not fair.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_16]: I had good excuses every time and it hasn't cut the quality of my work for you.
- 43:06[SPEAKER_19]: That's true, Hank.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_19]: And we thank you for it because if you can read your contract, all the results of your work belong to us.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_16]: It wasn't what you call a dignified exit, but I hadn't come to terms with my budding beast to it back then.
- 43:19[SPEAKER_16]: I still carried a lot of frustration inside me just like the other Hank on my new team.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_16]: Okay.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_16]: Here we are, time to break out my old break in at the brand corp routine.
- 43:30[SPEAKER_07]: Uh, and if I'd never hear you see budding bees to it again, I'm going to be just behind by the way.
- 43:34[SPEAKER_07]: Uh, and as a reminder, the brand corporation is a real-life parody of the brand corporation, but they're really working for the Nazi secret empire.
- 43:40[SPEAKER_07]: There's a lot going on here.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_07]: We're just going to jump right into this crazy.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_19]: Brand or brand, which one's working for the Nazis?
- 43:45[SPEAKER_07]: Brand is the fictional company.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_07]: Brand is the real life corporation.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_07]: The secret empire is the Nazi parody.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_07]: So that's you can take that where you will.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_07]: Beast jumps onto a roof, but the sound alerts a guard.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_07]: What was that?
- 43:59[SPEAKER_16]: Hmm, I never was too good at that routine.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_16]: In fact, every time I tried it, I managed to get myself shot at now that I think of it.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_16]: If I'm gonna get my experimental formula out of this place, I'll have to clean up my act.
- 44:11[SPEAKER_16]: After all, even with my fast healing metabolism, I wouldn't want to get shit.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_16]: Oh shoot, this guard shack wasn't here two years ago.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_16]: As Beast Pass is a window, the guard rightfully panics.
- 44:21[SPEAKER_20]: Good Lord, that's the beast!
- 44:23[SPEAKER_16]: Hey, look, guard, I'm an Avenger, or rather I'm trying out to be.
- 44:27[SPEAKER_20]: Yes, sir, and I'm trying out for Peter Pan in the company's play.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_20]: I know all about you, Monster, and I don't blame word you say.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_16]: I knew you wouldn't, but this really is a matter of life and death.
- 44:36[SPEAKER_16]: So, Adios, chicken pluckers, I hope you get the part.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_16]: He's so much.
- 44:41[SPEAKER_07]: feeling he had no choice, feeling he had no choice, these hunches one arm guard that evades the gunfire of two others and he soon crashes through a window.
- 44:50[SPEAKER_16]: Well, it's hounds in hairy hair time once again, ladies and gents, get your bets down fast because the show's just begun.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_16]: boy, I may have to cut down on the big words since the X-Men days, but my tongue just loves to keep rambling.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_16]: Oh, well, any normal human would call what I'm doing right now, fantasy.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_16]: And I think fantasy should be fun even when it's deadly serious.
- 45:12[SPEAKER_16]: They've done a lot of remodeling around here.
- 45:14[SPEAKER_16]: Still, I think my old lab top secret only is off to the left.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_16]: It would never do to get lost at this stage of the game, but no.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_16]: Eureka, I have found it.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_16]: I've got the serum.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_16]: Some day, I'll have to speak to Captain Baxter if he still heads up to security here about the weaknesses and his strategies.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_16]: Some day, after I finish needing it,
- 45:33[SPEAKER_16]: Now let's have some action, look out man, this is a beast crossing.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_07]: I'm going to dive into the continuity.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_07]: Busbackster is the ex-husband of Patsy Walker.
- 45:42[SPEAKER_07]: The future supervillain mad dog will see him in a few issues.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_07]: Beast was hired to isolate the chemical compound that identifies mutation in the bloodstream and that's what he's back there to get.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_07]: And for those of you that are wondering why we're taking time on an Avengers story on an X-Men show, it's because Beast has every other word in this script.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_07]: After stealing a vial of his old serum, beast punches through a wall, avoids a gunshot and smashes into another guard, then it's off over the roof, but this time a stray bullet gets him, leading beast to knock out yet another guard to protect himself.
- 46:13[SPEAKER_07]: Bye, boys!
- 46:14[SPEAKER_07]: Remember, have a nice day OWW!
- 46:17[SPEAKER_20]: That's enough smart talk out of you, critter.
- 46:19[SPEAKER_20]: You may have spooked them old boys, but us new guards are a darn sight better shots.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_20]: You pick the wrong direction you're running jack.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_07]: higher a haul.
- 46:26[SPEAKER_07]: Meanwhile, at the much more peaceful Avengers mansion, a woman in a pink dress and pink heels is conversing with the well-dressed Edwin Jarvis at the door.
- 46:34[SPEAKER_18]: But I tell you, Madam, the beast is not in the present.
- 46:36[SPEAKER_18]: But in point of fact, the Avengers and their guests are rarely home.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I thought you'd say.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_18]: Wait, I only meant to warn you that I cannot say when to expect him.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_18]: If you can't step inside.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_01]: No, thank you.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_01]: If I know him, he'd slip in and out without my seeing him.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going to say right here on your front porch until he shows the beast owes me.
- 46:56[SPEAKER_01]: And I plan to collect.
- 46:58[SPEAKER_07]: Okay, so now all the old Beast Raiders know who our mystery woman is.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_07]: The rest of you will have to hang your heads down next time.
- 47:04[SPEAKER_07]: Except we already told you, shhh, it's Patsy Walker.
- 47:06[SPEAKER_07]: You've got a few other people to see this month still though.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_07]: So let's move forward to Scarlett Witch and Vision.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_01]: New York.
- 47:12[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Dark Eyes, I still don't think cutting our honeymoon short was very nice.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_01]: But for some reason, I find it hard to stay mad at you.
- 47:20[SPEAKER_00]: Our honeymoon would last forever in our minds, Wanda, and the meantime, wait a minute, that's the yellow jacket down there, and there's store beside her.
- 47:27[SPEAKER_07]: Swiftly, surely, the synthesized shifts the Quingets control, sending it into a screaming dive and a picture-perfect landing on the court-armed street.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_20]: Thor, what has happened here?
- 47:37[SPEAKER_20]: On my cross, the vision?
- 47:39[SPEAKER_20]: We did not expect to lay eyes upon thee for weeks yet on born.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_20]: Oh, you two, eh?
- 47:44[SPEAKER_00]: Now that you met.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_20]: This is a sad hour which stuffed me here, my friends.
- 47:48[SPEAKER_20]: Yellowjackets growth once again bursts all control.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_20]: And we who stand by him are helpless.
- 47:53[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, there's real no Thor.
- 47:55[SPEAKER_01]: Whatever the cause, Hank's growth is physical, organic, and that is the province of the Scarlet Witch.
- 48:01[SPEAKER_07]: Impossibly against the bright morning light, a pale crimson limbs her phone for a moment, and then dies away.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_01]: I did what I could.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_01]: The girls could not be stopped through witchcraft, but it's been slow.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_20]: So I saw.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_20]: Beast, has thou accomplished on ends?
- 48:16[SPEAKER_20]: I, so it would seem.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_16]: Be that blood I spy upon your arm?
- 48:19[SPEAKER_16]: Sure, Ma, but don't worry, it's healing up already.
- 48:22[SPEAKER_16]: Anyway, it's just a prelude to what I need from our patient here.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_16]: Well, what reason, Doctor?
- 48:26[SPEAKER_16]: Remember that the man sells what all grown to the same degree as he.
- 48:30[SPEAKER_16]: Oh, man, that's me all over.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_16]: The researcher forgets to be practical.
- 48:34[SPEAKER_16]: Now, what are we going to do?
- 48:36[SPEAKER_16]: I need to research that microbe.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_20]: Then may I suggest Janet didn't, her blood is similarly infected.
- 48:41[SPEAKER_16]: Yeah, of course.
- 48:42[SPEAKER_16]: Why did I think of that?
- 48:43[SPEAKER_16]: Because it's too obvious.
- 48:45[SPEAKER_16]: Of course, that's what we do.
- 48:46[SPEAKER_07]: The, the, the penache takes to call for Ma, wow.
- 48:51[SPEAKER_07]: But Dr. Corrigan has other ideas.
- 48:53[SPEAKER_19]: Not a chance, huh?
- 48:55[SPEAKER_19]: Listen, Yolunis, I got a patient under my care, and she's not going to be disturbed, period.
- 49:00[SPEAKER_19]: But Doctor, now don't you understand English, the woman is critical.
- 49:04[SPEAKER_16]: Doctor, I'm trying to save her husband's life.
- 49:06[SPEAKER_16]: I'm not about to hurt her in the process.
- 49:09[SPEAKER_19]: How do I know that beast?
- 49:10[SPEAKER_19]: For all I know you might be related to that X man beast.
- 49:13[SPEAKER_07]: You sure don't look like any doctor I know.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_07]: But in what's Dr. Donald Blake?
- 49:18[SPEAKER_07]: The secret civilian identity of Thor.
- 49:20[SPEAKER_20]: What about me then, Oregon?
- 49:21[SPEAKER_19]: Don Blake, I haven't seen you in ages.
- 49:24[SPEAKER_20]: I don't get back to New York much anymore, Rich.
- 49:26[SPEAKER_20]: But if you'll grant an old-classmate, a professional courtesy, how about for this science is worth?
- 49:31[SPEAKER_19]: You're involved with these weirdos.
- 49:33[SPEAKER_19]: Next I suppose Walter Cronkite will be rolling bandages for them.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_19]: I give up, I swear, and I do whatever you want.
- 49:38[SPEAKER_07]: And so, as a hastening sun near its noon point,
- 49:41[SPEAKER_20]: Drawing blood may no difference to Jan as I knew.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_20]: Her fate wrestling in her will to live.
- 49:46[SPEAKER_20]: But after this many hours in the coma, she doesn't have much time left to exercise it.
- 49:50[SPEAKER_07]: The beast too feels the grains of time slipping out from under him.
- 49:53[SPEAKER_07]: He had his moments of laughter when he could afford them now.
- 49:56[SPEAKER_07]: He could not.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_07]: Silence falls on the hospital's hastily borrowed lab, a dark silence quite unlike the sunlight outside.
- 50:03[SPEAKER_07]: Our slide into eternity, each one's passing grimly marked, and then, as a distant corridor clock, chimes three, he begins to see.
- 50:11[SPEAKER_16]: Right, the left-hand molecules mingle with the sodium, but cut the chloride.
- 50:15[SPEAKER_07]: Outside underneath this that chiming time piece, the thunder god and the perplexed newlyweds wait.
- 50:20[SPEAKER_07]: From time to time, the vision in the scarlet which try to work out exactly what they've walked into.
- 50:25[SPEAKER_07]: They know they could question Thor, but somehow when they see what frustration can do to a god, they decide not to.
- 50:30[SPEAKER_07]: Meanwhile, half a world away, in the abandoned fortress, once owned by Dr. Doom, Iron Man and the mysterious moon dragon are just leaving.
- 50:44[SPEAKER_21]: And it's true.
- 50:45[SPEAKER_21]: He was lost in time on his trip to the past.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_21]: We'd better get back to the others, and eh?
- 50:50[SPEAKER_12]: What is it?
- 50:51[SPEAKER_12]: What's you?
- 50:52[SPEAKER_12]: Oh, ho!
- 50:53[SPEAKER_12]: The time machine itself has suddenly reappeared.
- 50:56[SPEAKER_12]: And look, that's blood on its deck.
- 50:58[SPEAKER_12]: Now more than ever, we must fear that some harm has befallen your friend, Iron Man, and yet.
- 51:05[SPEAKER_21]: I sense it too, Moon Dragon, even without your expanded mind, there's something about this last little touch that spells track and back at the hospital lab.
- 51:14[SPEAKER_16]: Wow, it'll work.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_16]: I'm sure it'll work.
- 51:16[SPEAKER_16]: I've saved the poor guy.
- 51:18[SPEAKER_16]: That is, unless he's kicked off in the five hours it took me to do it, or Jan has.
- 51:22[SPEAKER_16]: But no, she looks the same as ever.
- 51:24[SPEAKER_16]: Jan remains combatose as nurses look after her.
- 51:27[SPEAKER_14]: There may even be some improvement, Avenger, Dr. Blake.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_14]: Oh.
- 51:32[SPEAKER_14]: restarting.
- 51:33[SPEAKER_14]: I thought that they were doing Dr. Blake if you're nasty, but they weren't.
- 51:36[SPEAKER_14]: Okay, ready?
- 51:38[SPEAKER_14]: Three, two.
- 51:39[SPEAKER_14]: There may even be some improvement venture.
- 51:41[SPEAKER_14]: Dr. Blake checks in every 15 minutes.
- 51:44[SPEAKER_14]: And he says that he's encouraged.
- 51:46[SPEAKER_16]: Then I'm encouraged.
- 51:47[SPEAKER_16]: At least she doesn't look any worse.
- 51:49[SPEAKER_07]: Holy Hannibal Missouri, would you believe your eyes if you
- 51:53[SPEAKER_07]: If you came upon a 150 foot man at a former X man, the beast has seen many outlandish things, but never something is familiar as the human body in such a state of wrongness.
- 52:03[SPEAKER_07]: He doesn't dare take the side of the building down this time.
- 52:05[SPEAKER_07]: For the moment, the beast is just too blown out, which I don't want to see, but like with a hair dryer now.
- 52:11[SPEAKER_16]: This morning, against whirlwind, he was anti-Size.
- 52:14[SPEAKER_16]: He was no bigger than my thumb, and now... That's not the serum in remake.
- 52:18[SPEAKER_16]: Hashtai ever asked Guardian.
- 52:20[SPEAKER_16]: My part's under control.
- 52:21[SPEAKER_16]: All that's left is to get into his bloodstream fast, fast, fast, fast.
- 52:25[SPEAKER_00]: That has been the range to my friend.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_00]: The vision will take you formally into yellow jacket's unmoving form.
- 52:31[SPEAKER_00]: I know it could simply be injected, but not while I can control the density of myself, my costume and all within it.
- 52:37[SPEAKER_00]: And now while I have yet to fully replay this map for his A to me in years past.
- 52:41[SPEAKER_07]: Like that one time, an Avengers 93, go look it up.
- 52:44[SPEAKER_07]: The vision pours the violin to his own cape and then climbs upon the massive chest of Henry Pim, then phases into the circulatory system of his creator's creator.
- 52:55[SPEAKER_07]: So this is a vision phasing into his grandpa, everybody.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_07]: The initialist and man who entered my normal son's body today the will comes full circle only fair slowly with all the caution He commands the synthesoid slips into the gigantic chest cavity to behold for the first time the living counterpart to his plastic and wires
- 53:15[SPEAKER_00]: There is the heart, but the route to is clogged with fibers.
- 53:18[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks.
- 53:19[SPEAKER_00]: Though, intangible, I must move with care, but I know not how the beast has caused these scents to become as tantasmal as myself, and any miss out may cause Hank Pems instant death.
- 53:29[SPEAKER_00]: Still, I am not meant to make errors in judgment, except if I read the others' reactions to my short and honeymoon in a matter of some D.R.
- 53:36[SPEAKER_07]: His scarlet face twists in an unaccustomed rise smile.
- 53:40[SPEAKER_00]: No, I shall make no errors there.
- 53:42[SPEAKER_00]: So saying he penetrates the critical muscle only to find himself suddenly set up on what in the world now I'm in the bloodstream that must be the microbes dependent territory having taken control in here they're treating me as the invader but within the heart I can increase my density without causing Hank harm so I can sell him back until I set the serum free.
- 54:02[SPEAKER_07]: The beasts' chemical swirls away down an all-consuming artery, hopefully to work their wonders.
- 54:07[SPEAKER_07]: The vision leaves the way he came to reappear moments later, in the world of air and sunlight and anxious faces, but he speaks not a word.
- 54:15[SPEAKER_07]: The set of his shoulders, his stance, everything about him reveals the results of his fantastic voyage.
- 54:21[SPEAKER_18]: He did it!
- 54:22[SPEAKER_18]: Why jays gonna be all right, fuck!
- 54:24[SPEAKER_18]: You can see it if you look hard.
- 54:25[SPEAKER_18]: He's already shrieking.
- 54:27[SPEAKER_07]: Gels of civilian and in less than five minutes yellow jacket is back to normal size.
- 54:31[SPEAKER_01]: All I can say is he's nearly back to normal.
- 54:35[SPEAKER_01]: That was some serum you came up with beast.
- 54:38[SPEAKER_16]: Shhh, any genius could have done the same.
- 54:41[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I, hey, where's he going?
- 54:43[SPEAKER_16]: Love back down the banger.
- 54:44[SPEAKER_00]: You should not attempt to walk, low, long run.
- 54:47[SPEAKER_22]: No way, vision.
- 54:48[SPEAKER_22]: I started out to enter this hospital, and that's the most important thing to me.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_22]: I grant you, I'm not very steady yet, but I have to know.
- 54:56[SPEAKER_19]: How's Jan, Doctor?
- 54:57[SPEAKER_19]: Do you believe in miracles, Dr. Pan?
- 54:59[SPEAKER_19]: Come see for yourself.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_19]: She came out of it just like that, not five minutes ago, right?
- 55:03[SPEAKER_19]: When I did, oh, that's love.
- 55:06[SPEAKER_14]: And I, honey, what's this?
- 55:08[SPEAKER_14]: No flowers.
- 55:10[SPEAKER_19]: Check their out and she appears completely Dr. Penn.
- 55:13[SPEAKER_14]: Hmm.
- 55:14[SPEAKER_07]: But Yellowjacket and Wasp are making out in the hospital as Thor flies off through the window.
- 55:19[SPEAKER_07]: Next, the return of Captain America, the squadron supreme and a brand new artist.
- 55:25[SPEAKER_07]: it's George Perez.
- 55:27[SPEAKER_07]: All that next month, odd Avengers number 141.
- 55:29[SPEAKER_07]: Hurray!
- 55:31[SPEAKER_07]: We got to kind of the culmination, like the first story arc of Anglehard's Beast and Moon Dragon on the Avengers has concluded.
- 55:39[SPEAKER_07]: And the star player in this episode, we got three number one is the Beast who had a lot to say, but also a lot to do.
- 55:47[SPEAKER_07]: Taylor, what was it like to play Henry McCoy in this issue?
- 55:51[SPEAKER_07]: And what was your
- 55:53[SPEAKER_16]: single favorite epithet was probably holy Hannibal Missouri, um, that's a, that hits close to home that's near where I'm from, unfortunately.
- 56:00[SPEAKER_16]: But I think lots of words, very sorry to everyone that had to kind of deal with the, the strong news anchor voice.
- 56:07[SPEAKER_16]: I tried to channel some George Boosa and it just did not happen.
- 56:10[SPEAKER_16]: But chicken pluckers was, I think, a good second.
- 56:14[SPEAKER_16]: There was a lot of just strange inner ramblings from beast in this issue.
- 56:19[SPEAKER_07]: audio-stricken pluckers, I hope you get the part a really, really delightful.
- 56:23[SPEAKER_07]: We also get a really fun full circle moment for the vision, leaning away from the homoerauticism slash kind of weird incest to the story.
- 56:34[SPEAKER_07]: One time Ant-Man went inside the vision and this time the vision went inside the Ant-Man, and uh, StarPlayer, he's the only one that could have done it.
- 56:41[SPEAKER_07]: Dominic, you finally got something to do off the beach, man.
- 56:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 56:44[SPEAKER_00]: Though I missed the beach, it's fun to get back into the heroic things with vision.
- 56:50[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm happy about that.
- 56:51[SPEAKER_07]: I love he tells Wanda like, I've got everything we did on our honeymoon in my brain.
- 56:56[SPEAKER_07]: I can replay it anytime.
- 56:57[SPEAKER_07]: It'll be there for as long as we need it.
- 57:01[SPEAKER_00]: I need a memory like vision one day and you have memory like it.
- 57:06[SPEAKER_07]: I think the other star player this episode oddly was the doctor who's like listen up all you crazy motherfuckers.
- 57:12[SPEAKER_07]: What the hell is wrong with you?
- 57:13[SPEAKER_07]: I'm trying to treat my patient.
- 57:14[SPEAKER_07]: There's a blue furry guy in here and a god with a hammer.
- 57:17[SPEAKER_07]: What the hell are you doing?
- 57:18[SPEAKER_07]: She was just attacked by a supervillain you morons.
- 57:21[SPEAKER_07]: Tom done welcome to the show officially with us.
- 57:23[SPEAKER_07]: There are the character voices.
- 57:25[SPEAKER_07]: The doctor and then the delicious voice of Edwin Jarvis as well.
- 57:29[SPEAKER_19]: I mean, I'm a dad, so reading books, reading voices and funny voices to kids is kind of a jam right now.
- 57:34[SPEAKER_19]: So I'm at that point.
- 57:35[SPEAKER_19]: And I also got the doctor's kind of like WTF the whole time.
- 57:38[SPEAKER_19]: And I find that really funny.
- 57:39[SPEAKER_19]: And so I don't want to have some like common intellectual doctor.
- 57:42[SPEAKER_19]: I want to have a crotchy doctor.
- 57:44[SPEAKER_07]: I like that he's kind of bossy and like in the face of superheroes who could punch him down.
- 57:47[SPEAKER_07]: You know what I mean?
- 57:48[SPEAKER_07]: He's got a bitch too many smart or empty, I guess, but whatever.
- 57:52[SPEAKER_07]: Also old friends with Dr. Donald Blake, which is delightful, the only voice of reason.
- 57:57[SPEAKER_07]: What was it like for you to play Edwin Jarvis here as well, my friend?
- 57:59[SPEAKER_07]: Very common, very, very British.
- 58:01[SPEAKER_07]: Edwin dealing with Patsy Walker, who refuses to come in the house.
- 58:05[SPEAKER_07]: Alison, welcome back as both Patsy and Pinsheter last minute as Wanda, since everything wasn't able to join us tonight.
- 58:12[SPEAKER_07]: Welcome back, my friend.
- 58:13[SPEAKER_01]: No problem, thank you for having me again.
- 58:15[SPEAKER_01]: I think she's becoming more New York every time I do her.
- 58:18[SPEAKER_01]: Patsy is.
- 58:19[SPEAKER_01]: But it was really fun to do Scarlett with it, so I like to do that.
- 58:22[SPEAKER_07]: Really, really fun moment for the Wasp finally coming out of her coma.
- 58:26[SPEAKER_07]: Generally, we've waited so long for your return, and you got to say, where's my flowers?
- 58:31[SPEAKER_07]: And, mmmm.
- 58:33[SPEAKER_14]: I had two lines, and I was like, the one that I'm gonna dedicate to is that.
- 58:40[SPEAKER_07]: They could out with her boyfriend who just was 150 feet tall right outside, you know.
- 58:45[SPEAKER_14]: He's sometimes you need that, you know.
- 58:47[SPEAKER_07]: You need to speed up our starters.
- 58:49[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, yeah, that's true.
- 58:51[SPEAKER_07]: He did beat up Charles who tried to, or were a one who tried to kidnap you as well.
- 58:55[SPEAKER_07]: That was last issue.
- 58:56[SPEAKER_07]: So you've been through it, my friend.
- 58:58[SPEAKER_07]: I'm glad you're doing okay.
- 58:59[SPEAKER_07]: Me too.
- 59:00[SPEAKER_07]: Me too.
- 59:01[SPEAKER_07]: No flowers.
- 59:02[SPEAKER_07]: It's her first words.
- 59:03[SPEAKER_07]: I love a good characterization of it.
- 59:05[SPEAKER_07]: And Yellowjacket finally, I don't know what goes up must come down if you will, and if you keep growing larger after four hours, you should definitely call a doctor who's in panic episode is finally over, I think.
- 59:17[SPEAKER_22]: I don't know.
- 59:18[SPEAKER_22]: I feel like Hank's life is a constant panic episode if we're being honest.
- 59:22[SPEAKER_07]: That's, that's a job.
- 59:24[SPEAKER_07]: He really kind of went through it, but not as much to say this time.
- 59:26[SPEAKER_22]: No, only a few lines.
- 59:28[SPEAKER_22]: That's okay.
- 59:29[SPEAKER_22]: I think like he still was a star of the show and he's happy to be that way.
- 59:32[SPEAKER_07]: We have Derek back as Thor, who had a lot of Asgardian tongue twisters this episode.
- 59:36[SPEAKER_20]: Without my normal scene partner of Iron Man and the the masculine energy between the two, he reverted back to like Asgardian lingo and man does my tongue hurt.
- 59:47[SPEAKER_07]: So is your tongue
- 59:53[SPEAKER_07]: That's all for us.
- 59:56[SPEAKER_14]: I was going to ask if you did your hair blonde to get into character.
- 59:59[SPEAKER_20]: Yeah.
- 1:00:00[SPEAKER_20]: It's only that helped with the accent, though.
- 1:00:03[SPEAKER_07]: And then in our 17th scene change, we also have Ironman and Moon Dragon finally locating the bloody time platform and we're going to get that Hawkeye pay off soon, I promise it's been building for like six months, welcome back to Matt and demand a stepping in for Sarah last minute Sarah was ill today as Moon Dragon.
- 1:00:20[SPEAKER_21]: I love a aside that has nothing to do with the main plot of a comic.
- 1:00:24[SPEAKER_12]: I have not listened to the reading that you guys did of the one before I'm going to be listening to it tomorrow.
- 1:00:30[SPEAKER_12]: I do because I didn't know that I would be here.
- 1:00:33[SPEAKER_12]: So I have zero context to what's going on.
- 1:00:35[SPEAKER_12]: All I know is that moon dragon is a content so just be as come to you as possible.
- 1:00:40[SPEAKER_12]: You nailed it, baby.
- 1:00:41[SPEAKER_12]: You nailed it.
- 1:00:42[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 1:00:42[SPEAKER_07]: You're going to hear it in the previous episode.
- 1:00:44[SPEAKER_07]: Iron man's like really flirting hard with her and she's like, Oh, what do you want me to do?
- 1:00:48[SPEAKER_07]: Press my cold yielding lips to the metal face plate on your uniform?
- 1:00:54[SPEAKER_07]: fuck you and fuck all men right afterwards.
- 1:00:56[SPEAKER_07]: It's really great actually.
- 1:00:58[SPEAKER_12]: So for those who don't know, Chad has been building up to like a whole moon dragon thing for a long time.
- 1:01:04[SPEAKER_07]: Let's do it on.
- 1:01:05[SPEAKER_07]: So yes.
- 1:01:06[SPEAKER_12]: Yeah, and has not it has for the longest time said.
- 1:01:10[SPEAKER_12]: a picture of Moon Dragon to me and like our little group chat forever.
- 1:01:14[SPEAKER_12]: So I have grown very fond of her, and I just I think she's great.
- 1:01:20[SPEAKER_12]: She's she's done no wrong except maybe try to kill some people, maybe bring watch to couple people a couple of times, maybe did some other horrible things, but we love her.
- 1:01:29[SPEAKER_21]: So let's do that trial.
- 1:01:30[SPEAKER_21]: She did many things wrong.
- 1:01:33[SPEAKER_07]: She's she is perfect and I love her so yeah that story is finally building and we get a bunch of time travel crazy in the next several episodes which is a lot of fun.
- 1:01:43[SPEAKER_12]: So I just want to say uh number one patty walker yes absolutely so I have again only gotten to read some some of her stuff.
- 1:01:52[SPEAKER_12]: But I've read some of her stuff in the defenders on a Darrell show.
- 1:01:57[SPEAKER_12]: And I think Allison, you like Nailed it on the head with her.
- 1:02:00[SPEAKER_12]: That she is just a no nonsense woman.
- 1:02:02[SPEAKER_12]: She's like, no, I will not be going anywhere.
- 1:02:04[SPEAKER_12]: And no, I will not be following any of your directions.
- 1:02:06[SPEAKER_12]: Now we're doing exactly what I want to do.
- 1:02:08[SPEAKER_12]: Thank you so much.
- 1:02:10[SPEAKER_12]: So I think you nailed that perfectly.
- 1:02:11[SPEAKER_12]: And then, of course, like, the start of the show is Taylor.
- 1:02:14[SPEAKER_12]: I mean, the beast is absolutely ridiculous in this.
- 1:02:18[SPEAKER_12]: And it's obviously, I guess, Engelhardt's way of being like, hey, Avengers people, you guys kind of remember the beast.
- 1:02:25[SPEAKER_12]: Isn't he fun?
- 1:02:26[SPEAKER_12]: Don't you want him on this team?
- 1:02:27[SPEAKER_14]: Tom, I have not met you, but you have stunned me.
- 1:02:31[SPEAKER_14]: Every time you open your mouth, I was like, oh, my gosh.
- 1:02:34[SPEAKER_14]: It's a performer, a performer.
- 1:02:36[SPEAKER_14]: I.
- 1:02:37[SPEAKER_22]: really loved Alice in pitch again for Scarlett Witch.
- 1:02:41[SPEAKER_22]: I thought that was really excellent.
- 1:02:42[SPEAKER_16]: Yeah, I think shout out to Derek, you know, we had so many lines back and forth.
- 1:02:46[SPEAKER_16]: I was reading yours and I was like, oh, I'm glad that's not mine.
- 1:02:50[SPEAKER_16]: Just because it was very, very Thor, very asked Cardian.
- 1:02:54[SPEAKER_16]: And then shout out to Amanda.
- 1:02:56[SPEAKER_16]: I think you had a very like a theory sort of presence in your moon dragon.
- 1:03:01[SPEAKER_16]: And so that was nice.
- 1:03:02[SPEAKER_19]: I want to kind of echo what Amanda said about Allison's amazing patchy walker performance because I think I was very, I was very psyched up to get my Edvin Jarvis thing to get first me and Chad were like, I was like, I can just do a really obnoxious thing with me, but she acts that.
- 1:03:15[SPEAKER_19]: I'm really good at making fun of Brits.
- 1:03:17[SPEAKER_19]: And so I was like, ready in like in my zone for Jarvis and then patchy was like, no, screw you man, I'm stepping in and I was like, oh, I'm, I'm actually kind of disarmed right now.
- 1:03:28[SPEAKER_19]: And I also want to shout out to Derek, like Taylor had all like the ridiculous words, that was great, but like, it was like trying to read along with Derek's words, like my eyes couldn't make sense, somebody.
- 1:03:42[SPEAKER_07]: Jericho.
- 1:03:43[SPEAKER_19]: Thank you.
- 1:03:43[SPEAKER_20]: Was it like a new writer on this issue because it, like I said, the Thor was throwing hard this time.
- 1:03:48[SPEAKER_07]: So still Steve Engelhardt.
- 1:03:50[SPEAKER_07]: I feel like it's like a, like year one end, right?
- 1:03:54[SPEAKER_07]: Like he just finished his first big arc, which was pretty fun.
- 1:03:57[SPEAKER_07]: And now we go into the time travel crazy.
- 1:03:58[SPEAKER_20]: Well, I just want to also get props just for Tom and Allison on that.
- 1:04:01[SPEAKER_20]: Just that scene.
- 1:04:02[SPEAKER_20]: Like I could have listened to that for like 10 more minutes.
- 1:04:04[SPEAKER_20]: Like that exchange between the two.
- 1:04:06[SPEAKER_20]: It was really, it felt really authentic and natural.
- 1:04:08[SPEAKER_12]: I don't know just amazing.
- 1:04:10[SPEAKER_12]: One of the reasons what so when Chad text me and he's like, hey, are you afraid?
- 1:04:13[SPEAKER_12]: And now I'm using like, oh, what script is this?
- 1:04:15[SPEAKER_12]: Because these are always so much fun.
- 1:04:16[SPEAKER_12]: Um, I get I've been doing these with Chad for a long time.
- 1:04:18[SPEAKER_12]: And so it's always so much fun to like be a part of a new case.
- 1:04:21[SPEAKER_12]: Because I don't think I've done a reading with, I think I did one with like Taylor a long time ago, but I don't think I've done a reading with any of you before.
- 1:04:28[SPEAKER_16]: So the last thing, the last thing we did together.
- 1:04:31[SPEAKER_16]: And I'm only interrupting you because it's fucking iconic as count nefaria.
- 1:04:36[SPEAKER_16]: Oh, yes, just the the introduction like it lives rent free in my brain.
- 1:04:43[SPEAKER_12]: Hopefully, obviously Sarah gets better, but again, if you ever need a moon dragon again, I'll be happy to step in.
- 1:04:48[SPEAKER_21]: Daniel, I really love how much paythos you give.
- 1:04:51[SPEAKER_21]: Hank, I'm at the end there.
- 1:04:53[SPEAKER_21]: You guys do really like manic, Hank last read through and I, but I just like, I kind of like, sweet.
- 1:04:59[SPEAKER_21]: That is at the end there.
- 1:05:00[SPEAKER_22]: Thanks.
- 1:05:00[SPEAKER_22]: Thanks.
- 1:05:01[SPEAKER_22]: Yeah, it's interesting to play in a sort of a different context where you just, he's just like feeling a little bit more vulnerable, but also single-minded.
- 1:05:08[SPEAKER_07]: So we began this arc with a new recruitment drive because a lot of people had left the team.
- 1:05:14[SPEAKER_07]: Wasp pulled a Hank against his will, quote-unquote and this is how he would phrase it back to the Avengers and then the Toad Stranger thing happened.
- 1:05:22[SPEAKER_07]: They held a recruitment drive in a ballpark and Beast and Moon Dragon showed up.
- 1:05:26[SPEAKER_07]: Hawkeye stormed out and took a time platform.
- 1:05:29[SPEAKER_07]: So, the characters have just been all over the place, and we kind of now see Beast and Moon Dragon move from kind of trainee status into full members of the team, but we're getting ready to add Patsy Walker as Hellcat to that group as well, although it still takes a couple of issues.
- 1:05:43[SPEAKER_07]: The next episode, we move into kind of the next arc for these characters.
- 1:05:47[SPEAKER_07]: This is not the X-Men.
- 1:05:48[SPEAKER_07]: These people are poorly behaved, very white, just kind of awful, terrible,
- 1:05:55[SPEAKER_07]: engaging in so much property damage and like it'll thought out to plans.
- 1:05:59[SPEAKER_07]: We need Captain America back on the team for sure to whip them into shape and he's back next episode.
- 1:06:05[SPEAKER_07]: We also we don't get hawk I just yet but we get the time travel stuff, we get a mortise, we get Kang the Conqueror, we get Buzz Baxter, we get the Squadron Supreme and we get Robson Corporation who's president
- 1:06:21[SPEAKER_07]: In other words, huge owns, it's a pun, it's a pun on a billionaire, there are 20 speaking lines in the next script, which is crazy, but it's the same length, so we'll get there as we get there.
- 1:06:33[SPEAKER_07]: I keep my own social media private because I got kiddos, you guys are welcome to follow me in this group, just ask, but you can follow this show, a gremlin underscore lane on Instagram,
- 1:06:40[SPEAKER_19]: Because Vimey, all over the internet, all of my social media is private these days.
- 1:06:45[SPEAKER_19]: I think by October, I think my band the wrong time life will have a new version of our Hawkeye song out.
- 1:06:50[SPEAKER_19]: Just call my life as a weapon.
- 1:06:51[SPEAKER_19]: So, it's not that a remastered song about Hawkeye.
- 1:06:53[SPEAKER_19]: So, you can find that on Spotify, Apple Music, preferably Bandcamp, but you know, the streaming things that pay up any is fine as well.
- 1:07:01[SPEAKER_19]: Excellent.
- 1:07:01[SPEAKER_19]: Tom, it's great to meet you.
- 1:07:02[SPEAKER_07]: I'm so happy to hang out again sometime.
- 1:07:03[SPEAKER_07]: Thank you for having me.
- 1:07:04[SPEAKER_07]: You guys made a Tom from the band, she episode of Three Grow.
- 1:07:07[SPEAKER_07]: Also,
- 1:07:10[SPEAKER_19]: That's called the Rolling High Life.
- 1:07:12[SPEAKER_14]: Um, I don't know.
- 1:07:13[SPEAKER_14]: My fellow thoughts are that this is always fun and it always brings me joy.
- 1:07:17[SPEAKER_14]: Even though today was hectic, I was still looking forward to seeing everyone.
- 1:07:20[SPEAKER_14]: I didn't know who was going to be here, but it was always a great time.
- 1:07:23[SPEAKER_14]: I always feel laughter and I love that.
- 1:07:25[SPEAKER_14]: I am going to New York Comic Con.

- 1:07:32[SPEAKER_14]: My one goal is to meet Tina Howard.
- 1:07:34[SPEAKER_14]: I love her, but I'm on Instagram of Curl's Comics, Curls with the Z, because I'm hit.
- 1:07:40[SPEAKER_22]: Yeah, I think that my favorite part about this is just seeing all of your faces and hearing these wonderful voices and getting to talk about something that is really meaningful to me, which is comic books.
- 1:07:50[SPEAKER_22]: I talk about comic books on Instagram at Comic Extracts.
- 1:07:56[SPEAKER_22]: You can find me there.

- 1:08:58[SPEAKER_20]: Again, like after doing what three or four of these readings with you all, it's great.
- 1:09:01[SPEAKER_20]: So like get be familiar with you all and as I screw Continuously with the Asgardian accent, maybe I'll be patient with me.
- 1:09:08[SPEAKER_20]: I will say any of the listeners Need to check out the actual comic book too because I was reading through it.
- 1:09:13[SPEAKER_20]: They scenes were like thorsed like sneaking off to become Dr. Donald Blake and then like his frustration with not being able to find a cure like the ways portrayed is very like sick on sick Conical so it's it was a fun read
- 1:09:26[SPEAKER_20]: So you can follow me at Derek J. Nichols on Instagram and TikTok and then I also have been reviewing Captain Planet episodes and then modernizing it, bring it to 2025 because we'll just apparently continuously dumpster fire.
- 1:09:40[SPEAKER_20]: Yes, so you can follow me at Planetary or Derek on TikTok.
- 1:09:43[SPEAKER_07]: You're ex also been posting a lot of memes that say Wealer had it right, did not.
- 1:09:50[SPEAKER_21]: I, I just have so much fun doing these.
- 1:09:52[SPEAKER_21]: We're both theater folk and so these these performances are really fun and you guys are also great.
- 1:09:57[SPEAKER_21]: And you know, I'm not, I'm not always familiar with these Avengers comics especially and they're really fun to sort of experience for the first time.
- 1:10:04[SPEAKER_21]: We are escape the mojo verse.
- 1:10:07[SPEAKER_01]: And then at the end of this week, I have an interview with Kelly Thompson over her first year at doing absolutely Wonder Woman.
- 1:10:14[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm very excited about that.
- 1:10:16[SPEAKER_07]: That's a huge score.
- 1:10:17[SPEAKER_07]: Congratulations.

- 1:10:35[SPEAKER_00]: but you guys can find me pretty much anywhere on the internet.
- 1:10:40[SPEAKER_00]: Instagram, Dominic Jamil, M. TikTok, DJ Millerton 4, and let's see Twitch, Don, I don't want underscore, I'm also a streamer as well.

- 1:11:01[SPEAKER_00]: My do one new

- 1:11:21[SPEAKER_16]: There's some archived episodes of that.
- 1:11:24[SPEAKER_16]: So hopefully I can bring that back sometime this year.
- 1:11:26[SPEAKER_07]: I remain inspired and delighted to be friends with just nerdy, talented, educated people.
- 1:11:31[SPEAKER_07]: This is such a smart and talented group of individuals.
- 1:11:34[SPEAKER_07]: I'm so pleased to be part of you all.
- 1:11:35[SPEAKER_07]: Thank you for always coming back to celebrate these fun little community moments.
- 1:11:40[SPEAKER_07]: It makes me super happy every time.
- 1:11:42[SPEAKER_07]: Alright everybody, we'll be releasing this on October 7th.
- 1:11:44[SPEAKER_07]: I'll tag you all when we get there.
- 1:11:46[SPEAKER_07]: Thanks everyone for listening.
- 1:11:47[SPEAKER_07]: Adios, chicken pluckers, we'll see you back here next time on a great Malkin Lane.
- 1:11:51[SPEAKER_07]: And now stay tuned for some thoughts on fascism as a special guest tonight talked about a red skull story and its modern applications.
- 1:12:01[SPEAKER_07]: Early listeners of my show will remember Chris Claremont based his interpretations of Charles Xavier and Magneto off of real world figures David Ben Gurion and Minochembegin.
- 1:12:13[SPEAKER_07]: We're going to talk a little bit about Minochembegin today, but if you go back and listen to the early trial of prehistory Magneto on my show,
- 1:12:21[SPEAKER_07]: Menalkenbegin was born in 1913, Brest Littofsk, a city then in the Russian Empire, now known as Belarus.
- 1:12:29[SPEAKER_07]: From an early age, he was steeped in Zionist ideology, particularly the revisionist branch founded by Ziav, I should have predicted, by pronunciation.
- 1:12:39[SPEAKER_07]: Zeya of Jabatinsky, which advocated for a Jewish state on both banks of the Jordan River and emphasized Jewish self-defense.
- 1:12:46[SPEAKER_07]: A bigans' early life was marked by displacement and persecution during World War II, while studying law in Poland, he was arrested by the Soviet NKVD and spent time in a labor camp of Siberia.
- 1:12:58[SPEAKER_07]: When he was finally released, he discovered that his parents and many members of his family had been murdered by the Nazis during the Holocaust.
- 1:13:05[SPEAKER_07]: This loss would define his entire life.
- 1:13:07[SPEAKER_07]: After the war, Began immigrated to mandatory Palestine, and took up leadership of the Ergun, a militaristic Zionist group that had split off from the Hoganah.
- 1:13:17[SPEAKER_07]: The Ergun considered the British colonial presence in Palestine illegitimate and used armed resistance to oppose it.
- 1:13:23[SPEAKER_07]: Began directed operations such as the bombing of the King David Hotel in 1946,
- 1:13:28[SPEAKER_07]: a controversial act that killed both British and civilian personnel.
- 1:13:32[SPEAKER_07]: Though this act of violence remains debated, it was a part of a broader philosophy that beggin held, that Jewish lives and Jewish self-determination must be defended without apology in a world that had failed to protect them.
- 1:13:45[SPEAKER_07]: Beggin's weariness of global powers, British, Russian, or German, paralleled Magneto's distrust of human institutions and authorities that repeatedly betrayed mutant kind in the comics.
- 1:13:56[SPEAKER_07]: Both Magneto and Beggin were formed in the crucible of genocide, if you will.
- 1:14:00[SPEAKER_07]: And neither ever forgot what the world did to their people.
- 1:14:03[SPEAKER_07]: Like Magneto, Beggin developed a sometimes ruthless, protective instinct.
- 1:14:07[SPEAKER_07]: While David Benkeurian is rarely, or Israel's first prime minister, often compromised for political expediency, including the controversial reparations agreement with West Germany in 1952, which was israel basically agreeing to work with the German state for reparations.
- 1:14:25[SPEAKER_07]: Menak and Began saw these deals as a betrayal of the 6 million Jews who had been slaughtered.
- 1:14:30[SPEAKER_07]: His opposition was not just political, it was personal and moral,
- 1:14:34[SPEAKER_07]: After the acceptance of German reparations to rebuild the notion is really economy, big and lead mass protests declaring things like, money from the Nazis is blood money.
- 1:14:44[SPEAKER_07]: It will destroy the soul of our people.
- 1:14:46[SPEAKER_07]: This mirrors, again, Magnos, recurring distrust as mutants like Charles Xavier, who seek peaceful coexistence with the very systems that once hunted them.
- 1:14:55[SPEAKER_07]: Big and in Magneto both carry the trauma of genocide with them into every room, every negotiation.
- 1:15:00[SPEAKER_07]: It's not ancient history to them.
- 1:15:01[SPEAKER_07]: It's always now.
- 1:15:03[SPEAKER_07]: Even as Prime Minister, when he took over as Prime Minister, Israel himself, Reagan maintained his moral red lines.
- 1:15:09[SPEAKER_07]: In 1981, he authorized the bombing of Iraq's Ocerok nuclear reactor, defying global condemnation to neutralize the threat to Israel's survival.
- 1:15:19[SPEAKER_07]: It was another example of preemptive even radical defense.
- 1:15:22[SPEAKER_07]: Critics called him a warmonger, supporters called him a protector, and Magneto 2 has long straddle that line, terrorist to some,
- 1:15:31[SPEAKER_07]: always acting with the memory of Auschwitz burned into his psyche.
- 1:15:34[SPEAKER_07]: But Bacon was not just a man at war, as Prime Minister, he also signed a peace treaty with Egypt, the first between Israel and an Arab state.
- 1:15:42[SPEAKER_07]: The echoes that Thiem and Magdios arc the warrior who sometimes chooses peace, but only when it can be entered into without compromising justice for his people.
- 1:15:49[SPEAKER_07]: Both Began and Magneto are defined by duality, the need for peace and the readiness for war shaped by personal loss and historical betrayal.
- 1:15:57[SPEAKER_07]: Their moral clarity does not always make them easy men, but it does make them necessary once, figures who refuse to forget, and who demand the world reckoned with what it has done.
- 1:16:07[SPEAKER_07]: To them, we are not just survivors of atrocity, but men who insist that survival must come with dignity, strength and never again at the mercy of others.
- 1:16:15[SPEAKER_07]: and certainly not by negotiating with tyrants, although there's seed as tyrant sometimes.
- 1:16:20[SPEAKER_07]: Now, I'm entering all of this in from 2025, where the conversation around Israel is a completely different thing.
- 1:16:25[SPEAKER_07]: We're focusing on a post-World War II example, and we're going to let that be present for today's conversation.
- 1:16:30[SPEAKER_07]: Our red school story.
- 1:16:30[SPEAKER_07]: for today is one that every X-Men fan should read and I don't think most X-Men fans know about.
- 1:16:35[SPEAKER_07]: It's a crazy bag needle versus red skull story that weaves between Captain America 365, Avengers 312 and then goes back to Captain America for its conclusion in 366.
- 1:16:46[SPEAKER_07]: Both men have been drafted by Loki to serve in the acts of vengeance crossover.
- 1:16:50[SPEAKER_07]: Loki is in disguise in a suit and he's making all the supervillains do crazy shit around the world, which puts these two men in the same room at the same time
- 1:17:00[SPEAKER_07]: Redskull takes more of a backseat approach in Captain America 365.
- 1:17:04[SPEAKER_07]: He's almost operating almost more like the kingpin in this era.
- 1:17:07[SPEAKER_07]: He's employing operatives in various schemes, and his primary and most trusted operatives, cross bones.
- 1:17:13[SPEAKER_07]: We'll talk more about that another time.
- 1:17:15[SPEAKER_07]: In these issues, we see the controller going after Captain America and then the acts of engines beginning.
- 1:17:20[SPEAKER_07]: The major players from Ex-Adventures assemble, the kingpin, Dr. Doom, Mandarin, the wizard, and off to the side, Magneto is staring daggers at the red skull.
- 1:17:28[SPEAKER_07]: He says, a man who styles himself after one of Hitler's welps is fortunate to be allowed to breed the same, but he gets interrupted.
- 1:17:35[SPEAKER_07]: Shortly after, Magneto has nothing he holds in common with mere humans, unless it is at a biting hatred for all this scarlet-headed creature represents.
- 1:17:44[SPEAKER_07]: all that is vile and lode some in the world.
- 1:17:46[SPEAKER_07]: And the Red Skull replies, you dare mutant, mongrel, there was a time when you're kind, what have been boiled into scrap, and Magneto yells, there was a time you're kind to try to not see, you and your foul misbegotten race, but the man and white Loki silences the fight.
- 1:18:02[SPEAKER_07]: Jump back over to Cap 3606.
- 1:18:04[SPEAKER_07]: Red Skull begins gathering more allies around and including the voice of doom and the controller, but he finds himself unable to turn on the mysterious man Loki.
- 1:18:12[SPEAKER_07]: In 3607, Magneto bursts into the Red Skull's home.
- 1:18:15[SPEAKER_07]: Needing to confirm is this an imposter or is this the actual fucking war criminal that worked with the Red Skull?
- 1:18:22[SPEAKER_07]: And he learns it is.
- 1:18:23[SPEAKER_07]: Red Skull has been cloned into Captain America's body.
- 1:18:26[SPEAKER_07]: this point?
- 1:18:27[SPEAKER_07]: Yes, though I am on my second spotty, he says, Magneto replies, my family and I were victims of Nazi oppression of concentration camps of brutality.
- 1:18:35[SPEAKER_07]: I swore to avenge them.
- 1:18:36[SPEAKER_07]: Though as far as I can determine, you personally had nothing to do with their deaths.
- 1:18:40[SPEAKER_07]: You willingly served the most barbaric despot of this century and committed countless atrocities to advance your twisted regime.
- 1:18:46[SPEAKER_07]: How do you plead?
- 1:18:48[SPEAKER_07]: And as he speaks, Magneto knocks a group of armed guards away.
- 1:18:50[SPEAKER_07]: Now it's important to remember Magneto has years as a Nazi hunter in the interim years before X-Men No.
- 1:18:55[SPEAKER_07]: 1 as well.
- 1:18:56[SPEAKER_07]: Red Skull replies, you are much alike, you and I, Magneto, both of us wish to see our master race and hair at the earth.
- 1:19:03[SPEAKER_07]: You call my fury barbaric.
- 1:19:05[SPEAKER_07]: Am I mistaken or did you yourself not kill hundreds of men by sinking a submarine a few years back?
- 1:19:09[SPEAKER_07]: To help realize your minority group's destiny, would you bulk at the imprisonment of inferiorious, the extermination of the unfit, calm, calm magneto, do not expect me to be impressed by your sanctimonious posturings of moral superiority.
- 1:19:24[SPEAKER_07]: Redskell tries killing magneto with his dust of death, but you know, magneto gets a force field.
- 1:19:29[SPEAKER_07]: He calls Redskell Nazi scum, Redskell tries trapping magneto, and then he gives a Nazi salute while trying to escape on an elevator.
- 1:19:36[SPEAKER_07]: But again, Magneto controls metal, so elevators are going to do much.
- 1:19:39[SPEAKER_07]: Magneto fights his way past a sleeper robot, an army of red skull, life model decoys, and then he stops the red skulls little underground escape car, captures the Nazi, and buries him in an isolated fallout shelter, with 10 gallons of water and no way to escape.
- 1:19:54[SPEAKER_07]: Down here, there is no light, no food, no amenities, no companionship, just water and air.
- 1:20:01[SPEAKER_07]: I want you to sit down here and think of the horrors you have perpetrated.
- 1:20:04[SPEAKER_07]: I want you to suffer as you've made other suffer.
- 1:20:07[SPEAKER_07]: I want you to wish I had killed you.
- 1:20:10[SPEAKER_07]: Now, we'll pick this story up next time, where the Red Skull's left in solitary confined bed.
- 1:20:14[SPEAKER_07]: But, as we're talking about this crazy conversation, let me welcome one of my dearest friends in real life and on the show, the incredible artist Philip Cv, Phil High, it's so good to have you on.
- 1:20:27[SPEAKER_07]: We've been talking about this for a while.
- 1:20:28[SPEAKER_07]: Are you a Red Skull fan, my friend?
- 1:20:30[SPEAKER_02]: I am less of a red skull fan after reading this than I had been before.
- 1:20:34[SPEAKER_07]: It's probably never not what you've been before.
- 1:20:37[SPEAKER_07]: I'm guessing this is a story you'd never read.
- 1:20:38[SPEAKER_02]: I had no, I actually had to look up like I was aware of acts of engines, but at the same time I was like this was right before I started reading comics, so I've never actually tracked what was going on.
- 1:20:48[SPEAKER_07]: So what was it like for you as a reader jumping into a magnet versus red skull story?
- 1:20:54[SPEAKER_02]: You know, so I started out with the Avengers issue which John Burn had written and like
- 1:20:58[SPEAKER_02]: Redskill says some like truly file things in that issue like to the point where no one could save these things today in a comic and I don't quite know how John Burn got away with it in 19 or that was 89 and so yeah, I think we were texting but getting to the Redskill versus Magneto part is really really fun because yeah The barbs the two them throw at each other is is it's real real rough like it is brutal
- 1:21:23[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's a fun catharsis when Magneto, you know, in prisons skull in the chamber at the very end of it, but as far as the rest of it goes, no, it was just kind of I was curious to see how it shook out.
- 1:21:36[SPEAKER_07]: Super hero antics, do you want to sit in the room with all these men, the kingpin, the mandarin, the with somehow the wizard is here.
- 1:21:42[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what the wizard was doing there.
- 1:21:44[SPEAKER_02]: It was just generally the biggest group of like insecure man babies I've ever seen.
- 1:21:48[SPEAKER_02]: It's got to be what it's like to sit inside like the White House right now.
- 1:21:51[SPEAKER_02]: Or it's just the most pathetic group of humans ever assembled.
- 1:21:56[SPEAKER_02]: Just talking about how great they think they are and how insecure they truly are.
- 1:22:00[SPEAKER_02]: it was kind of embarrassing in that.
- 1:22:02[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, oh, these super villains are all really pathetic.
- 1:22:04[SPEAKER_02]: Like, especially when you put them in the same room of each other, they're nowhere as scary or as dominant.
- 1:22:11[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, they cause all sorts of death and destruction, but listening to them, bar batty, each other all from their ivory towers.
- 1:22:17[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, oh man, these guys are all losers.
- 1:22:19[SPEAKER_02]: It was almost fun to be reminded of how pathetic they truly are.
- 1:22:23[SPEAKER_07]: Magnetos invited to the table with all these super villains and there's a moment where he considers working with all of them, right?
- 1:22:28[SPEAKER_07]: King and Mandarin.
- 1:22:29[SPEAKER_07]: Okay, let's see what's going on here and then he sees the red skull.
- 1:22:32[SPEAKER_07]: There's an initial assumption.
- 1:22:34[SPEAKER_07]: It's an imposter and then he realizes who the fuck this is.
- 1:22:37[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think it's
- 1:22:38[SPEAKER_02]: right from the top, they set up the obvious conflict between having Magneto and Red Skull on a team together, and you know, not having, I don't know how many stories I've read where they're in this room at the same time, and it was like, oh yeah, no, this is a big trouble.
- 1:22:54[SPEAKER_07]: And so until the Red Skull gets Charles Xavier's brain later, that's right, we don't speak of that.
- 1:23:00[SPEAKER_07]: Well, we will, we'll get there on the show.
- 1:23:02[SPEAKER_02]: No, you will.
- 1:23:03[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just turning friends.
- 1:23:05[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, God.
- 1:23:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, no, no.
- 1:23:06[SPEAKER_02]: I setting it up that way was really fascinating and obviously right for all sorts of fun juicy conflict like we got in this this story here and it for years there's been the conversation of his hydrognancies are they not at it.
- 1:23:22[SPEAKER_02]: I think I've gone either way thinking about it like, oh, they weren't directly Nazis, but they worked for the Nazis and I think really apparently I was reminded like, oh, yeah, no, they were Nazis whether you, whether you are leading the Nazis or whether you are a test or you are working with them, you are a Nazi if you're not fighting against it, you are one, sorry.
- 1:23:40[SPEAKER_07]: There's two versions of the word Nazi, I think.
- 1:23:42[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, it means a lot of things cloakfully, but like there's the Nazi party, and then who is scribed to the Nazi party, and then there are people who are scribed themselves to Nazi ideals, right?
- 1:23:53[SPEAKER_07]: White supremacists aren't necessarily Nazis, but also their Nazis, right?
- 1:23:57[SPEAKER_07]: Like it's the same types of ideals.
- 1:23:59[SPEAKER_07]: If you are emulating Hitler and his ideals in your house, there's a certain level of Nazi that we're not gonna really care about very much, because it's horrible.
- 1:24:07[SPEAKER_07]: The lines between, you know, the red skull calls him mutant, mongrel, there's a kind when a time when you're kind would have been boiled into scrap and Magneto yelling back, there's a time you're kind of tried.
- 1:24:16[SPEAKER_07]: And then we have this odd comparison.
- 1:24:18[SPEAKER_07]: We often will have the conversation about like, is Magneto Hitler.
- 1:24:22[SPEAKER_07]: And he's not because there's some key differences, right?
- 1:24:25[SPEAKER_07]: Now, open the conversation with Monocke and Bagan, who is performing acts of terrorism.
- 1:24:30[SPEAKER_07]: even that it results in civilian death.
- 1:24:33[SPEAKER_07]: There's a difference between that and Nazis killing civilians, though.
- 1:24:37[SPEAKER_07]: Do you want to talk about that a little bit?
- 1:24:38[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, shit.
- 1:24:39[SPEAKER_02]: Hi, I feel like we should have Spencer on the show, since our acronym to talk about that one specifically.
- 1:24:45[SPEAKER_02]: No, I think there's a difference in the acts of extermination versus acts of either protection or retribution.
- 1:24:53[SPEAKER_02]: I could maybe ascribe to the difference in philosophy that they're talking about here.
- 1:24:58[SPEAKER_02]: Magneto is doing things both out of retribution and protection for his people, whereas the red skull on the side,
- 1:25:05[SPEAKER_02]: The Nazis were doing things just for pure extermination based on incredibly racist ideologies and prosthetic insecurities of not being the most special boy around, you know, like you pointed out in context of what's happening today where people are perpetuating genocide and like at some point is that really the same.
- 1:25:25[SPEAKER_02]: Well, what point do those lines start to cross?
- 1:25:26[SPEAKER_02]: Genocide's genocide.
- 1:25:28[SPEAKER_07]: I represent my people who have been hurt is different than I see myself as superior to other people.
- 1:25:35[SPEAKER_07]: I want to place at the table and I have to fight for it is different than I see myself as superior and everyone else should be exterminated to give me profit.
- 1:25:44[SPEAKER_07]: Magneto's a character who experiences remorse has he done horrible things?
- 1:25:48[SPEAKER_07]: Yes.
- 1:25:48[SPEAKER_07]: All you did that like Magneto on trial in the afterlife issue with Lucy on a vacchio a few years ago where he's like really
- 1:25:55[SPEAKER_07]: weighing like the consequence of his actions over time, but that's not the red skull.
- 1:26:00[SPEAKER_07]: It's not something and you can't draw that comparison.
- 1:26:04[SPEAKER_07]: And then I opened with this conversation about compromise when we have world leaders making decisions to compromise.
- 1:26:11[SPEAKER_07]: Sometimes you see good in it or as a result of it, you know, we want peace, but there's certain people you just can't work with, that's a certain point too.
- 1:26:19[SPEAKER_07]: And that's something we're living in today's day and age.
- 1:26:22[SPEAKER_07]: If we're drawing the modern comparison, the queer community, the immigrant community, the disabled community, places that are people that are feeling disenfranchised, we never sought to conquer or to be the top.
- 1:26:35[SPEAKER_07]: We seek to belong at the table.
- 1:26:37[SPEAKER_07]: It's people who say, like, in order to stay on top, I have to take your rights.
- 1:26:41[SPEAKER_07]: I have to push you in this direction that there's a difference between those two things.
- 1:26:46[SPEAKER_07]: When we fight for our survival for our quote-unquote people, I don't see myself as superior to straight people, truly.
- 1:26:53[SPEAKER_07]: But I do see myself superior to people who are superior as a strong word to use, but I think it's fair to people who are bigots.
- 1:27:00[SPEAKER_07]: Meaning eating, I'm basically the table is not bigotry.
- 1:27:02[SPEAKER_07]: It's not hatred.
- 1:27:04[SPEAKER_07]: It's a need to be included.
- 1:27:06[SPEAKER_07]: And when you're trying to cut me out, I'm going to fucking fight back.
- 1:27:08[SPEAKER_07]: You know what I mean?
- 1:27:09[SPEAKER_07]: These acts of fighting back, these acts of protest.
- 1:27:12[SPEAKER_07]: We wish they could be peaceful, but sometimes they can't be sometimes.
- 1:27:16[SPEAKER_07]: they have to be loud.
- 1:27:17[SPEAKER_07]: We're living in an era where the whole Luigi Mangeoni conversation is relative to modern day, but acts of protest as I've been reviewing these stories from Germany in the forties and comparing them to these stories.
- 1:27:30[SPEAKER_07]: Acts of protest are often remembered really bravely, but acts of atrocity are not the same thing.
- 1:27:36[SPEAKER_07]: Do you wish Magneto had killed Red
- 1:27:39[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah, no, I don't understand.
- 1:27:40[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he's a Nazi hunter.
- 1:27:41[SPEAKER_02]: He has killed a bunch of Nazis.
- 1:27:43[SPEAKER_02]: The fact that he's like, I will spare you.
- 1:27:44[SPEAKER_02]: I've felt like a moment of convenience as opposed to a moment of character for a second.
- 1:27:51[SPEAKER_07]: We brought more than two cloned bodies though, through Artem Zola.
- 1:27:54[SPEAKER_07]: So we're streaming this way and keeping him alive.
- 1:27:56[SPEAKER_07]: It's a way to punish him without letting him just regenerate in a new form.
- 1:28:01[SPEAKER_07]: But that's not quite stated on the page.
- 1:28:03[SPEAKER_02]: Right, yeah, if he had stated it that way, I'd be like, oh, that's a smart move.
- 1:28:05[SPEAKER_02]: The state it on the page feels again like a moment of convenience as opposed to a moment of character and that in writing drives me a little crazy, but also at the same time, like I get it, right, you know, it's an 1889, I don't know, you can have magneto just killing red skull on the page.
- 1:28:20[SPEAKER_02]: I came back around to the thought I was having earlier and as I was looking at.
- 1:28:24[SPEAKER_02]: kind of this this table full of villains that Loki had assembled to act out kind of whatever higher goal they want to accomplish.
- 1:28:32[SPEAKER_02]: It did remind me of kind of the weird handshakes you start to see between hateful and authoritarian ideologies like you look today at kind of the modern GOP and their embrace of right-wing extremism, of nationalism, of Naziism, of white supremacy,
- 1:28:50[SPEAKER_02]: And then at the same time, they are the people who are touting their defense of Jewish people.
- 1:28:55[SPEAKER_02]: And it's like, how can those ideologies do not mix?
- 1:28:59[SPEAKER_02]: You can't be the Nazis number one party and also claim to be the party that protects Jewish people.
- 1:29:05[SPEAKER_02]: And yet, like this table assembled where you've got Magneto and you've got Red Skull.
- 1:29:10[SPEAKER_02]: and the kingpin, and Dr. Duman, all these varying ideologies, almost in that conversation, they're trying to convince themselves why all working together is in line with their plan and win in reality.
- 1:29:21[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, at the core, if they are being truthful, they are in opposition to each other.
- 1:29:25[SPEAKER_02]: And I appreciate that Magnita was like, no, at my core, this is who I am and what I stand for.
- 1:29:30[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going to cross streams with all of these other things that I am directly opposed to just because it gives me that power
- 1:29:39[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, you know, Loki is assembling a group of people that American superheroes would see as supervillains.
- 1:29:44[SPEAKER_07]: The costume, the variety, of course, right?
- 1:29:47[SPEAKER_07]: And the reds both the table just doesn't quite fit.
- 1:29:50[SPEAKER_07]: Kingpins, bad dude, mandarin's a bad dude, but this is a different kind of bad dude.
- 1:29:54[SPEAKER_07]: You know, I think it would have been so easy for editors to not have the Magneto Reds skull conversation at all.
- 1:30:00[SPEAKER_07]: But the fact that Marguerino will pick that up in his book is beautiful because he's treating a reds skull as a like a playable character through a long run on his arc on the book.
- 1:30:08[SPEAKER_07]: Now we're going to follow a story into the next couple of arcs.
- 1:30:10[SPEAKER_07]: This conversation is resonant, but it kind of feels good.
- 1:30:14[SPEAKER_07]: Some of these conversations feel a little bit exhausting or devastating.
- 1:30:17[SPEAKER_07]: This one feels like, oh, I want to go, I want to go fight back a little bit, right?
- 1:30:20[SPEAKER_07]: Like there's a certain level of understanding the way history remembers things.
- 1:30:26[SPEAKER_07]: As we're going through all this in 2025, my friend, how are you doing?
- 1:30:30[SPEAKER_07]: And do you have any advice for people who might be feeling a little weighed down by the world?
- 1:30:34[SPEAKER_02]: No, man.
- 1:30:36[SPEAKER_02]: I wish that I did.
- 1:30:37[SPEAKER_02]: I think obviously there is power in story and the way in which story allows us to experience catharsis and to experience anxieties and trauma and things in a safe way.
- 1:30:49[SPEAKER_02]: But at the same time, like I don't know if there's anything that is particularly or universally helpful right now.
- 1:30:55[SPEAKER_02]: It is I think all we can do every day to just kind of
- 1:30:58[SPEAKER_02]: navigate through and figure out what it is that we can do both in terms of quiet resistance and louder acts against kind of the violence systems that are pressing everyone and I wish I had a great answer and I wish we had something we could do but it just feels entirely powerless.
- 1:31:15[SPEAKER_07]: you know we're not powerless though and i think that's the key is things have really tipped over but we still have the ability to make determinations to a certain degree like this is the cautionary tale of today's day and age as we record this in August 20 25 a few months before it comes out but who knows what's fucking happened in the world?
- 1:31:32[SPEAKER_07]: But, you know, this is like things to fall in this far, how do we stop them from falling farther?
- 1:31:37[SPEAKER_07]: I don't think we expect decency anymore, but we do fucking expect survival.
- 1:31:41[SPEAKER_07]: I'm gonna fight, if I have to fight.
- 1:31:43[SPEAKER_07]: And whatever that, whatever form that takes, interesting conversations to be had.
- 1:31:48[SPEAKER_07]: So, thank you for Chris Claremont's interpretation of Anakin Big and his Macbeth.
- 1:31:53[SPEAKER_07]: I think it's interesting, and thank you for those that fight back in any capacity.
- 1:31:56[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I'm not telling you to go kill some Nazis or to bury him.
- 1:31:59[SPEAKER_07]: in chambers anywhere, but like don't get red skull, see to the table, that's for fucking sure.
- 1:32:05[SPEAKER_02]: No, I didn't kind of relate back to stuff happening now, and this isn't necessarily helpful, helpful, it's just the thing that I constantly go back to is the people that I have to interact with on a regular basis who've aligned to themselves with the authoritarian and fashion fascist ideologies, and yet claim to be like, you know, people of faith and people of
- 1:32:25[SPEAKER_07]: I feel like I come from the Mormon cloth and a lot of them.
- 1:32:27[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I was directly voted for Trump and don't some 100%.
- 1:32:30[SPEAKER_07]: But I just to be very clear about what we're saying here.
- 1:32:32[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, and the question I constantly want to ask people and I realize it's fruitless right, you cannot reason with people who do not have an ability to reasonably think.
- 1:32:41[SPEAKER_02]: is like, okay, of all the, the, the creeds and parties and people to a lie or self was, why did you choose to a lie or self with the same people and parties that the Nazis think are good?
- 1:32:53[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't know, like, there's a million, quote unquote, you know, both sides are great area arguments that people can make, which are bullshit.
- 1:33:02[SPEAKER_02]: But at the same time, like, I don't know how you argue, like,
- 1:33:05[SPEAKER_02]: If you say the Nazis have some good ideas, then you just set that out loud.
- 1:33:09[SPEAKER_02]: There's no way to be like, the people that Nazi support, I think, is a good person.
- 1:33:14[SPEAKER_02]: Because again, you're lying yourself with the Nazis.
- 1:33:16[SPEAKER_02]: So you'll back to Magneto, even Magneto is like, no, fuck that Nazi.
- 1:33:20[SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna lock him in a hole.
- 1:33:22[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, and there's a significant division between the people who voted for Trump, who thought there were like well-meaning ideals or that there was a certain amount of decency They can be sacrificed in the game in the in the name of game, but the people who continue to totalign knowing exactly what's happening and They're excusing the shit the tapping they're excusing the internment camps and the recidivism of the rights That's shitty, but so is the people ignoring that it's happening.
- 1:33:44[SPEAKER_07]: That's also shitty.
- 1:33:45[SPEAKER_07]: It's it's its own kind of
- 1:33:47[SPEAKER_07]: These conversations are healing in an odd way just because we're speaking truth even though it takes away our ability to disassociate a little bit or like right Rigging it to the surface as we examine an old Reganera comics, but here we go Next, we'll be going by Colby Melvin.
- 1:34:02[SPEAKER_07]: We're going to talk about the red skull in a solitary confinement and that's where we pick up the story again Phil Cd, one of my dearest friends in real life, and I just love you very much.
- 1:34:11[SPEAKER_07]: Thanks for your time this morning, Levin Wow, thanks for having me on And it's called you my bud Ooh, we'll take that out
