- 0:04Welcome to Domer and Sons, a family podcast on Notre Dame football.
- 0:08I'm Matthew Rose, the Domer, and I'm joined by my two sons and co-hosts, William Rose.
- 0:15Hey, William.
- 0:16Hi, Dad.
- 0:18And Calvin Rose.
- 0:19Hey, Cal.
- 0:20Hi, Daddy.
- 0:22This is episode one, and we're looking forward to a great year of Notre Dame football.
- 0:27Some incredibly hot and cold takes, some laughs, and maybe a decent insight every now and then from one of us, or maybe even all of us.
- 0:36We'll be joined later on in this episode from big sis, Elle Rose, who is a sophomore at Fordham University.
- 0:43We'll, get her on the phone so she can discuss Wisconsin with us.
- 0:47Guys, five more sleeps, we're on a plane to Green Bay to go see the home opener.
- 0:55When I say home opener, Shamrock Series is technically a home game for us, but we're gonna see a home opener against University of Wisconsin Badgers.
- 1:04You guys excited?
- 1:05Yes.
- 1:06Yes, sir.
- 1:07Yeah.
- 1:07It's, uh, it's been a really long off-season.
- 1:09I think we're all ready for some Notre Dame football.
- 1:12Yep.
- 1:12Last game was on November 29th, 2025.
- 1:17That is a really, really long- Stanford?
- 1:21Stanford.
- 1:22That's when Linder Moore shut down everybody.
- 1:24Yeah, and they continued to target him, which made zero sense.
- 1:28Yeah.
- 1:28Um, as you guys recall, nothing went for us that game in the sense that,, LSU and Oklahoma were playing.
- 1:36Oklahoma was winning.
- 1:37We needed LSU and BK to do us a solid, knock Oklahoma out.
- 1:42BK couldn't do us a solid'cause it was a beka- big game.
- 1:46Uh, and then Alabama, Auburn, same type deal.
- 1:49We needed Auburn to, to finish off the Tide when they had them on the ropes, and they couldn't do it.
- 1:54And the powers that be in the College Football Playoff committee left us out of the playoff, and now we've got a very hungry, very angry, very determined Notre Dame football team that enters the 2026 season.
- 2:11Team one three-eight of Notre Dame football.
- 2:15Uh, let's do a little bit of math, Cal.
- 2:17How many national championships has Notre Dame won?
- 2:2011 When you look at team 138 and you see those digits, if you add up one plus three plus eight, what do you get?
- 2:2812.
- 2:29Okay.
- 2:30So I think it's only fitting that team 138- Wins us the 1290.
- 2:34Yeah, exactly.
- 2:36Um, early camp talk.
- 2:39Okay.
- 2:40We've, we've come out of camp.
- 2:42School has sort of started at Notre Dame.
- 2:46What have we been hearing and reading about the Notre Dame football team for 2026?
- 2:53Calvin, start with you on offense.
- 2:55Offensively, I think the main concern right now is our wide receivers.
- 3:01We have not a true boundary because Micah Gilbert's only 6'2" and Jordan Faizon's 5'10" and, you know, Jaden Grant has to six feet tall.
- 3:11Behind him is Jerome Bettis Jr., Matt Jeffrey, and Milam Graham.
- 3:15Milam Graham had a great spring and fall camp, so don't be surprised if he makes a, very good push to get a starting job over one of those three guys Tight end-wise, great to have Cooper Flanagan back.
- 3:29Great run blocker, a good pass catcher, and just a good presence.
- 3:35Anias Williams looks good.
- 3:37I think we've seen these sample sizes from him in certain big games, certain small games, but we just know, yeah, if this guy gets an open hole, he's gonna find a way to try to take it to the house.
- 3:48Behind him, Nolan James Jr.
- 3:51probably.
- 3:51Keidron Young, very, very big back, probably gonna be our power back.
- 3:55Behind him, you probably have Jonas Walton, who had an amazing fall camp, and then offensively, Joe Odding and Ashton Craig having a little bit of a position battle over there at the center.
- 4:07Then right guard, Sullivan Absher, and, Styles Prescott is also trying to have a battle there with Sullivan Absher.
- 4:15Styles Prescott these past two fall camps has had multiple first-team reps.
- 4:19He hasn't really, you know, taken care of business and tried to take advantage of those, but hopefully he'll be able to now.
- 4:26But other than that, our offensive line looks great.
- 4:28Offense looks great.
- 4:30C.J.
- 4:30Carr's gonna be hopefully a Heisman contender.
- 4:33Uh, it's pretty exciting.
- 4:34Yeah, I, you know, I'm a little bit concerned about our offensive line, to be honest with you.
- 4:37I think our depth's taken a little bit of hit.
- 4:39Obviously, Charles Jagessar still recovering from that, uh, ATV incident he had in July of'25.
- 4:46Isn't fully healthy.
- 4:48He would make a huge difference, and we wouldn't even be talking about right guard right now.
- 4:52Yeah.
- 4:52And then, you know, a little bit of a surprise, Matty Augustine, broke his foot.
- 4:57He's gonna be out for a while.
- 4:59Really haven't heard a timeline for him coming back.
- 5:02Yeah.
- 5:02So it sounds like it's a major opportunity for Styles Prescott potentially to come in and lead the way at that right guard position.
- 5:10If there anything we know about, our offensive line coach is that he will make changes.
- 5:16He's not afraid to make changes- No and he'll put the best- Sure five out there.
- 5:19And then last thing is, you know, I think that whole Will Black at left tackle, he's never started a meaningful game but I think, I think everybody's just been talking about him.
- 5:32And if you get good press with this Notre Dame team...
- 5:34Our D-line has gotten better this past season, and last season, so I just think if he's getting those good reps and, you know, handling his business against this D-line, then I think we'll be just fine I think that, that makes a lot of sense.
- 5:47Yep.
- 5:47Speaking of defense, William, why don't you take us through all three levels starting with the defensive line that Cal was talking about?
- 5:53All right, so the consistence, the consistence after training camp is that Bryce Young will be the starter.
- 5:59Keon Keeley coming out of Alabama is a very exciting younger edge rusher, but I think that Bryce Young will be great, little bit more fast.
- 6:10He's faster than Keeley.
- 6:12Bigger, bigger frame, and I think he's, he's lost a couple pounds, right?
- 6:15Yeah, he's lost a little bit of weight, so I think that speed that we saw his freshman season should be a little bit more emphasized.
- 6:21For sure.
- 6:22Francis Brew, nose tackle, I think there's, there's no argument there.
- 6:26He's about, had a great camp coming in from Pitt, armel Mukam He, initially entered the portal, was gonna go to Indiana, but he ended up coming back home, and he has had a great training camp, probably top three performances on the defensive side of the ball camp-wise.
- 6:46Obviously a big frame.
- 6:48He's very athletic.
- 6:50Um, back- backup being Jason Onyea, who we know will also do great things.
- 6:55Right end, Bubacar Traore.
- 6:58Great.
- 6:59I don't think there's any complaints there from the Notre Dame fans.
- 7:02We know he's gonna make some splashes.
- 7:05Drake Bowen, linebacker.
- 7:08Fr- I would have him as the number one nine- linebacker in the country or at the Mike position at least.
- 7:16Backing him up, we have Jaden Osberry.
- 7:19I think he has a chance to get some reps in.
- 7:22Him at the Sam position, I think he's a more athletic guy than Drake Bowen, but maybe he can learn to command like Bowen does.
- 7:29KVA, great.
- 7:31Recovering from his injury well.
- 7:33There's a pos- There's a possibility that he'll play against Wisconsin next Saturday, right?
- 7:37Yeah, which, you know, begs to, begs to let you, let our audience know we're, we're recording this on Sunday, August 29th.
- 7:44Yep.
- 7:45Or excuse me, Sunday, August 30th, and- Mm-hmm um, we're only dealing with the most current information that we have.
- 7:52Yeah.
- 7:52I, I don't see a reason for him to play the whole game.
- 7:58I'd like to see him start, play a few snaps, then bring him out.
- 8:01Obviously, we have tougher opponents than Wisconsin.
- 8:04Their offense didn't look great last year, so maybe there'll be a chance to pull him, let some other guys have some reps.
- 8:11With the secondary, Leonard Moore obviously consists as All-American, my personal favorite.
- 8:17He's gonna do great things.
- 8:18I think he's a generational cornerback.
- 8:22I think He might be better than, um, Cam Hart in the past few years, and, um- Who's Love?
- 8:29Venmo Venmo.
- 8:31I think Love, he could give Love a run for his money in the cornerback position for Notre Dame.
- 8:37D.J.
- 8:37McKinney, blue chip out of Colorado.
- 8:41He's gonna, he's gonna be leaning towards boundary, We don't know much coming from the Big 12, a little shaky conference, probably some tougher opponents, but they're expecting great things out of him.
- 8:53He's had a solid camp it sounds like.
- 8:55And then Dallas Golden with that shoulder injury, sounds like it'll be reoccurring through the season, so Christian Gray is gonna start in the nickel.
- 9:05Hooray.
- 9:08I think- You've got a complicated- Yeah relationship with Christian Gray, William, huh?
- 9:12Yeah.
- 9:12He's got a compli- he's also Christian Gray's got a complicated relationship with the football, too.
- 9:18I don't think he has a complicated relationship with the football.
- 9:20I think that I, I think- I think he knows where the football is.
- 9:23I don't know if he's always there, though.
- 9:25But, um, enough of that.
- 9:26Let's get to free safety.
- 9:28Brente Johnson, awesome.
- 9:30I hope he stays next year.
- 9:31That's If I could choose one guy to keep that's, uh, that's like a, has a good possibility of coming back, it's Tay for sure.
- 9:38He's, he's amazing.
- 9:39Backing him up, probably the biggest splash we've seen, um, Joey O'Brien, 6'5" frame, a little slender, flashbacks to Kyle Hamilton.
- 9:50He's had a- amazing camp.
- 9:53Heard great things about him.
- 9:56Adon Shuler, team captain, strong safety, awesome.
- 10:00Backing him up, Luke Talich, also another one of my boys.
- 10:05That interception against USC, that was magical.
- 10:08That's all I've got from the defense.
- 10:11Not a lotta injuries besides Dallas Golden on the defensive side of the ball.
- 10:15Yeah, knock on wood.
- 10:15Yep These guys came outta camp in pretty good position for a healthy run at Wisconsin, so.
- 10:21Yep.
- 10:21Um, special teams.
- 10:23I'll just wrap up here with special che teams.
- 10:25The kicker position, we've got a transfer from Purdue, Spencer Porath.
- 10:31Um, you know, I think everybody's pretty high on him.
- 10:34He had a great spring.
- 10:36What we heard outta camp the last couple of days of camp was not so great.
- 10:41Uh, apparently he had- Mm-hmm a couple misses- where we needed, you know, we need him to have all the confidence in the world.
- 10:48Mm.
- 10:48I'm hoping with the strength of this offense, we won't need him to do anything exc- except kick some PATs.
- 10:54Yeah.
- 10:54If he can even kick those.
- 10:56And if he can't, then Eric Schmidt is- I, I believe in him.
- 10:58All right?
- 10:59I, I believe.
- 11:00I think that we struggled last year, so it's nothing new.
- 11:03I hope that it'll be If it's somewhat of an improvement, I think we'll be all right.
- 11:08Yeah, I think, uh, it can't get any worse than- Yeah last year when it comes to PATs.
- 11:12For sure.
- 11:13Yep.
- 11:13So I think that will be a, a generational type, uh, nadir, if you will- Yeah in, in how we kicked.
- 11:21And then punter, uh, we got Jasper Skalife or Skafe.
- 11:27How do you pronounce that, Cal?
- 11:28Skafe.
- 11:29Skafe, all right.
- 11:29Skafe.
- 11:31He's an Aussie.
- 11:32Oh, no, look out.
- 11:35Yeah.
- 11:35He's an Aussie, uh, a g- Cannon cannon.
- 11:39Yeah.
- 11:39That's what we've heard is just absolute cannon.
- 11:42So, again, hopefully we don't see him that much on fourth downs this season.
- 11:47Yeah.
- 11:47But when we do, uh, he'll be able to provide us a- Knock it Flip of the field.
- 11:53Um, last bit of news that came out on Friday afternoon, captains.
- 11:59Yep.
- 11:59We've got our 2026 captains, and it's four this year, gentlemen.
- 12:02I like that, four.
- 12:03Keep it, keep it short, concise.
- 12:06Yeah.
- 12:07Mm-hmm.
- 12:08You think it's easier to have- Yep two leaders on both sides of the ball?
- 12:09Love that.
- 12:10Not handing it out- Keep it simple C's like candy.
- 12:12Yeah, no C's like candy, huh?
- 12:14Nope.
- 12:15Nope.
- 12:15That's good.
- 12:16Uh- Captains- Yeah offensively, CJ Carr and Jordan Faison.
- 12:21Faison with the little bit of a surprise there.
- 12:23I don't know.
- 12:24He's a good leader.
- 12:25He was a walk-on.
- 12:25Mm-hmm.
- 12:26Now he's the starting wide receiver.
- 12:28I think he's, I think he's kinda earned it.
- 12:30Yeah.
- 12:30I don't know how many years it's been since we haven't had a captain on the offensive line.
- 12:34Probably a while.
- 12:35It's been a minute, I think.
- 12:36Um, yeah, I was surprised that- Emil Wagner was a captain last year.
- 12:40Yeah, he was.
- 12:41But I was surprised- Mm that, uh, um- Nap Nap, yeah, wasn't a captain.
- 12:44Definitely.
- 12:45Yeah.
- 12:45So, but like you said, Cal, only the fifth time in Notre Dame history since 2000 that a walk-on or a former walk-on is now a captain.
- 12:54Yeah.
- 12:55So following in the steps of Jack Kaiser, and we know how great of a leader he was.
- 13:00And I think, when we look back at last year and those first two games, one of the things we were missing on both sides of the ball was, you know, really true defined seasoned leaders.
- 13:10And this year we l- we have those guys on the defensive side of the ball.
- 13:14Yep.
- 13:14We're repeating the captains from last year, or two of the three captains from last year on the defensive side of the ball.
- 13:20Great.
- 13:20Yeah.
- 13:21Drake Bowen and- Don Schuler Don Schuler.
- 13:25All right.
- 13:26Uh, well, it's gonna be a great, great season, I think, guys.
- 13:30I agree.
- 13:30I agree.
- 13:31Uh, let's, let's talk about, uh, who you think are the three most important players on both sides of the ball besides CJ and Leonard Moore.
- 13:42Uh, Cal, let's start with you on offense.
- 13:43All right.
- 13:44Offensively, first three that I'm gonna name, Cooper Flanagan, Jordan Faison And either Joe Otting or Ashton Craig, whoever's gonna be our center.
- 13:56Okay.
- 13:57So you think the center position- Yeah regardless of who it is.
- 14:00It's gonna be very important.
- 14:01I agree.
- 14:01Yeah, I think that's- I don't know how much we're gonna run the ball, but I agree center is important.
- 14:05Yeah.
- 14:05I think that left and right guard are, a big deal, but yeah, center, center's all right, I guess.
- 14:11Yeah.
- 14:12Yeah, we've gotta hold down those defensive tackles.
- 14:14Yeah.
- 14:15You know?
- 14:15Yeah.
- 14:16Uh, William.
- 14:17Yeah.
- 14:18Offensive side of the ball.
- 14:18All right.
- 14:19Three players, most important.
- 14:21These aren't the best players, but the most important players.
- 14:23You know, Notre Dame, they'll run the ball down your throat.
- 14:27We need a good running back.
- 14:29I think Anais Williams is really crucial.
- 14:31Obviously, we know he's a good receiving threat.
- 14:34He didn't get much touches last year, but when they were there, pretty brilliant.
- 14:37Um, Anais Williams, definitely one.
- 14:39I have Jordan Faison, obviously as a captain, that automatically makes him important.
- 14:45Number one receiver last year, super shifty.
- 14:47I think if he has a 1,000-plus yard season, that'd be pretty special since we haven't had that since- Claypool our boy Chase Claypool.
- 14:56And the third, I'll go Anthony Knapp Always big fan of having a guy on the, the line.
- 15:04Right.
- 15:04Uh, I can't disagree with you guys.
- 15:06Um, I think for me, I'll just name one that you guys have not named, but I think Will Black- Yeah in that left tackle position protecting C.J.
- 15:17Carr's blind side is gonna be absolutely imperative.
- 15:21Like I said earlier in the show, we, uh, we're starting a left tackle who's never had a really meaningful start.
- 15:27So he's gonna be critical for how this offense runs.
- 15:30Red, red shirt freshman, correct?
- 15:33Yeah.
- 15:33Yeah.
- 15:34Yeah.
- 15:34Um, and I think obviously the, the upside, the ceiling of this team is gonna be contingent on C.J.
- 15:41Carr's health.
- 15:41Yeah.
- 15:42So if I have any words of wisdom to the offensive line is protect 13.
- 15:47Agreed.
- 15:48Uh, defense.
- 15:50William.
- 15:51All right.
- 15:52So I have Drake Bowen, obviously great.
- 15:56He's gonna command the defense.
- 15:57That's what we need out of him.
- 15:59Another, I've got, Francis Brew.
- 16:02Haven't had a lot of good D tackles over the years in Notre Dame.
- 16:06I think that we've had like flashes, but we haven't had a really strong case on the middle of the line.
- 16:14Uh, Howard Cross and, uh, Riley Mills were two years ago.
- 16:19Oh, come on.
- 16:21That's, that's champion Riley Mills.
- 16:22All right, cut that.
- 16:23Cut that.
- 16:25No, that's, that's staying in.
- 16:27Uh, Don Shuler.
- 16:29Don Shuler, definitely captain returning.
- 16:31He's, um, he's pretty-- I don't think he's as talented as Tay, but he makes up for it in grit.
- 16:38You know, one of my favorite plays last year was the play against Pitt when he lit up some dude on a hospital pass.
- 16:45Boom.
- 16:46Yeah.
- 16:46Yeah, laid, laid the boom.
- 16:47I like that a lot.
- 16:49Um, those are my three.
- 16:51Yeah, I think that's great.
- 16:53Uh, I think you did a excellent job deflecting off of Riley Mills and Howard Cross.
- 16:58I don't know if you recall, Riley Mills may have gotten a sack in the Super Bowl.
- 17:02No, c- all right.
- 17:03Riley Mills also wa- weren't there for the Natty.
- 17:06No, he was hurt.
- 17:07Wasn't, wasn't there for Penn State.
- 17:09He was hurt.
- 17:10Wasn't there for Georgia.
- 17:12He was hurt.
- 17:14It's like I said.
- 17:15All right.
- 17:15Um, my three- some people hate him, some people like him, some people love him.
- 17:22Christian Gray's my first guy.
- 17:24Wah, blah, wah.
- 17:25He is gonna be so valuable.
- 17:26He's gonna be guarding the slot receiver.
- 17:28He's gonna be guarding the fastest and the shiftiest guys.
- 17:30So I, I just think that's gonna be important.
- 17:33Second one, Kingsly Onwuhare, probably one of the best linebackers in the country.
- 17:38He was the second-best linebacker in terms of run defense last year.
- 17:43He was only behind Jacob Rodriguez, who we know- was very, very, very good.
- 17:49And then lastly, I have Bryce Young.
- 17:50Bryce Young I think will also have a breakout season, so hopefully we just get a great version of Bryce Young.
- 17:57What do you think about, Keon Keeley?
- 17:59Do you think he can overtake Bryce Young in that starting job?
- 18:01I don't know.
- 18:02I just I think if he was gonna do it, he would've done it by now.
- 18:06Keon Keeley hasn't really lived up to the hype of being this second-best player in the nation that we saw in high school.
- 18:13Bryce Young definitely has.
- 18:15Bryce Young has lived up to the hype that we've seen.
- 18:17Last season was a little underwhelming.
- 18:18We were expecting him to have a breakout year.
- 18:21Bubacar had that breakout year.
- 18:22Perfectly fine.
- 18:24But, uh, yeah.
- 18:25He's been re- Bryce Young's been relatively clean with his injuries, right?
- 18:29Yeah.
- 18:29Knock on wood, he has.
- 18:30Yeah.
- 18:31No.
- 18:31So yeah, I Look, guys, I think all those guys are absolutely critical and I like those choices.
- 18:38I really like, I like your Gray cho your Gray shout-out.
- 18:43All right.
- 18:45Final regular season record, guys.
- 18:4812 and 0.
- 18:4812 and 0.
- 18:51I got 12 and 0 too Undefeated.
- 18:55Yes.
- 18:56And then how far into the college football playoff will we go?
- 19:00To the Natty, baby.
- 19:02Woo! Vegas.
- 19:03Vegas.
- 19:04All right.
- 19:05Uh, college football playoff, going to the Natty.
- 19:09Who we playing and w- do we win or not?
- 19:12We're winning.
- 19:13We're going 16 and 0.
- 19:14I don't care what anybody says.
- 19:16My personal opinion, I would love to play USC'cause those guys chickened out of the series.
- 19:22Dude, USC, okay, so we're recording this on Sunday.
- 19:24USC played yesterday.
- 19:25They conceded 26 points to the Spartans, right?
- 19:29To San Diego State.
- 19:31San Diego State Spartans.
- 19:31Uh, uh, uh- That, embarrassing correct you guys, San Jose San Jose.
- 19:34Yeah.
- 19:35State.
- 19:35Same thing.
- 19:35I'm, I'm just saying.
- 19:36They both suck, okay?
- 19:37Yeah, okay.
- 19:38No, embarrassing, terrible performance out of the defense.
- 19:41I've seen all this glaze about their young edge rusher off the left, the big number 99, number one D end out of, high school.
- 19:50Boy.
- 19:5026 points.
- 19:51That's unacceptable.
- 19:52Uh- Unacceptable I don't think they're making the playoffs.
- 19:55Yeah, they, they stink.
- 19:55No.
- 19:56If- I want, I want Ohio State in the...
- 19:58That's who I want.
- 19:59That's who I want Ohio State or Oregon.
- 20:01That's my personal pick.
- 20:01Oh, w- we don't have enough...
- 20:03It's not personal enough, you know?
- 20:05I'll take Ohio State, Georgia, or Alabama.
- 20:08Preferably Ohio State or Georgia if we play Alabama, I'm saying this right now, they will not score more than 20 points on us.
- 20:16They will not.
- 20:17Yeah.
- 20:17I don't, um, again, I don't disagree with any of these takes.
- 20:21Well done.
- 20:22And yeah, I think we're, uh, going, not only going to Vegas, I think we're gonna win the whole thing.
- 20:26I, and I have a feeling we're gonna play Texas, uh, which will be a great matchup.
- 20:31That'd be great.
- 20:32Yeah, yeah.
- 20:32Nothing, nothing wrong about Texas.
- 20:34Not at all.
- 20:35Not at all.
- 20:35Maybe a little nepo baby out of Arch Manning, but nothing else.
- 20:38Last time we played Texas, we lost 50 to 47 in overtime.
- 20:42Yeah, that was one of, that wasn't one of BK's finest coaching performances.
- 20:46No, but BK doesn't have a lot of them.
- 20:49Next segment, All right.
- 20:51Breakout player for me?
- 20:52Yeah.
- 20:55Give me Anais Williams.
- 20:57It's Aeneas, just so you know.
- 20:59Anais, uh, Aeneas or Will Black.
- 21:01I think Will Black- Yeah has a chance to shine, you know, starting early as a red shirt freshman.
- 21:07I like that.
- 21:08Yeah.
- 21:08I like that.
- 21:09All right.
- 21:10Normally I would say Oz Berry or Sneed.
- 21:13Looking at this too d- deep right now, I'm gonna go for a guy who's also on the bench, Rodney Dunham, true freshman- edge rusher out of North Carolina.
- 21:22Oh.
- 21:23We've heard a lot of good things about him.
- 21:24He's like- He had a, he had- he's huge, isn't he?
- 21:26He's pretty big.
- 21:27Yeah.
- 21:27He had a great, blue and gold game.
- 21:29I think we saw it.
- 21:30He was helping stopping the run, getting at the quarterback a little.
- 21:33So hopefully, you know, we get it going.
- 21:36Oh, yeah.
- 21:36Yeah.
- 21:37And, I'm gonna go with Armel Mukham.
- 21:40Uh, he- Mm he came back, and, I think we've heard really good things about him from camp.
- 21:47And, and being a, uh, a, a vet, I think he's got a lot to contribute, and he'll be hungry to do that.
- 21:54All right.
- 21:55Moving on.
- 21:56Next segment, Wisconsin preview.
- 21:59Cal.
- 22:00Yep.
- 22:01Before we get your sister on the phone to give us her score pick tell us a little bit about the Badgers- All right from Madison, Wisconsin.
- 22:11They have a great dual threat quarterback, all right?
- 22:14He's very good.
- 22:15He transferred in from Old Dominion.
- 22:17They don't have a clear wide receiver one.
- 22:20Not saying that Notre Dame does either, but they just don't.
- 22:22They, and, they had a big NIL donor, but I don't know if that's really gonna help them.
- 22:27Their right side of the line, their two starters are gone.
- 22:31They're gone.
- 22:32They're injured.
- 22:32So Bubacar, Pres Young, Amamuko.
- 22:35In a reimagined line too.
- 22:37I think they, they've got 34 incoming transfers- and I think four of the five people on the line are transfers.
- 22:46Yeah.
- 22:47So- It's, it's not gonna be good.
- 22:49All right?
- 22:49I'm just gonna say that.
- 22:50All right?
- 22:51And just to say this, the key to contain Colston Joseph, do not let him,, step up in the pocket.
- 23:00He steps up, he's gonna rush up.
- 23:01You know, I'm not really worried about Colston Joseph.
- 23:03Obviously out of Old Dominion, shout out C.J.
- 23:05Harper, Lori is king no, he's, he's not ready for the competition.
- 23:09I think the OC on the Wisconsin side might have to change a couple of diapers.
- 23:14You know, I think that the N- the Notre Dame defense is gonna wallop them.
- 23:20I've...
- 23:21You'll hear my score prediction in a second, but I don't think it'll be a big deal at all.
- 23:25One more thing, they had two really good true freshman linebackers last year, so just watch out for that in the run game and even sometimes in the pass.
- 23:33Yeah, I think it's fortunate we're playing these guys in week one.
- 23:36They will be a better team six games into the season, but trying to integrate those new transfers, the injuries on that right side of the line, ooh boy.
- 23:45Uh- Yeah you guys are right, I wouldn't want to be, the offensive line coach this week trying to prep for Notre Dame's D line- Yeah and the number of bodies and good bodies that we can throw at that, hurt, that struggling offensive line- Yeah in game one.
- 24:01Uh, all right, let's get your sister on the phone in New York.
- 24:06All right?
- 24:08Go Rose.
- 24:09Hey, El Rose.
- 24:11Let's, let's get you on the phone.
- 24:11All right.
- 24:12Let's get your sister on the phone.

- 24:26Hello.
- 24:28Hey, El.
- 24:28Hello.

- 24:40Good.
- 24:40Yeah.
- 24:41Nice.
- 24:41How's it going?
- 24:43Uh, I think it's going pretty well.
- 24:44Yeah.
- 24:44Yeah, episode one.
- 24:45Nice.
- 24:45Episode one.
- 24:46You know?

- 24:49Yo.
- 24:50Hey.
- 24:50Hi.
- 24:51Hey, what's up, gents?
- 24:53Hello.
- 24:55Awesome.
- 24:55All right.
- 24:56So El Rose, we don't wanna keep you long'cause I know you're having a nice walk through the park here.
- 25:01Um- Yeah, she is Wisconsin score, what you got?
- 25:06All right.
- 25:06I've been doing a lot of thinking about this.
- 25:08I've been- really digging deep.
- 25:10I'm gonna go with 34 to 14 us.
- 25:15Oh.
- 25:1534, 14 us.
- 25:18Oh my gosh.
- 25:18That's kind of a low scoring- That's, that's a stinker of a pick, El I like that though.
- 25:20Not a good day for you.
- 25:21Okay, sorry.
- 25:23No, I think 34, 14 is a good pick Oh my gosh, I thought it was like a free space to share my idea.
- 25:27Then I realized- tough crowd, dude.
- 25:30W- wow.
- 25:31Yeah, no, I think that's good.
- 25:33That's good.
- 25:33Well- What were y'all's?
- 25:35All right, well, you're about to find out.
- 25:37Oh, all right.
- 25:3859 to 10.
- 25:40Williams- 59 to 10.
- 25:4359-10, Williams.
- 25:43Yeah, El, you know that Wisconsin had the second worst offense in the country last year.
- 25:47You didn't do your research, did you?
- 25:49Yeah, El.
- 25:50Surprise.
- 25:52Um, my score prediction is- I thought it was low stakes.
- 25:55Dad said low stakes It is low stakes.
- 25:57It doesn't mean you're not gonna get a little bit of grief.
- 26:01All right, whatever, y'all.
- 26:02For me, I'm gonna go 70-0.
- 26:05No, I'm just kidding.
- 26:05I'm gonna go 49 to 7.
- 26:0749-7.
- 26:09They'll get one touchdown on us.
- 26:10Yeah.
- 26:10A little freebie at the very end.
- 26:12Yeah.
- 26:12Some Narduzzi stuff.
- 26:13And I'm gonna go 42 to 14 Irish.
- 26:18So- Ours aren't that much different.
- 26:19Yeah, they're not that much different.
- 26:20I don't like that so much.
- 26:20I don't like that.
- 26:23So El, we're gonna see you on Friday, right?
- 26:25Yes, I'm very excited.
- 26:27Going to the game.
- 26:29Going to the game.

- 26:53Little game.
- 26:54All right Next The next segment is a game we're calling Starting 11.
- 27:00Yep.
- 27:01It's a riff off of- Ooh 20 Questions.
- 27:0321 Questions.
- 27:0521 Questions.
- 27:07Is it really 21 Questions?
- 27:08It's 21 Questions.
- 27:09It's 20 Questions.
- 27:10He's messing with you.

- 27:33All right?
- 27:33We've, we've discussed it and we have it.
- 27:36It's Cal's got 11 questions to figure out who that player is.
- 27:41And what we're gonna do, w- this is gonna be a recurring segment on the show over the course of the season.
- 27:46Mm-hmm.
- 27:47And we'll take turns choosing each week.
- 27:51Yep.
- 27:51Uh, and so by the end of the season, each of us will have chosen four times.
- 27:57Yep.
- 27:57Yep.
- 27:57Right?
- 27:58Yeah.
- 27:58And who has the least amount of questions with the most right answers is the winner.
- 28:05All right.
- 28:05I like that.
- 28:05Yeah.
- 28:06Yeah.
- 28:07Great.
- 28:07All right.
- 28:07All right.
- 28:07So Cal, why don't you, uh, start us off here?
- 28:10Okay.
- 28:11Is this player on defense?
- 28:15No.
- 28:15No.
- 28:16Is this player a skill position?
- 28:19Yes.
- 28:23All right.
- 28:24Does this player normally receive the ball?
- 28:28Uh, yeah.
- 28:30I'd say so, yeah.
- 28:30Yeah.
- 28:31Yeah.
- 28:31Yeah.
- 28:31Is this Cooper Flanagan?
- 28:33No.
- 28:35That's four questions.
- 28:39Is this Aeneas Williams?
- 28:42No.
- 28:43LeBron James?
- 28:44No.
- 28:45At six.
- 28:46You're not helping yourself out here, pal.

- 30:03I said yes.
- 30:04I said yes.
- 30:04Yeah.
- 30:04Right, yes.
- 30:04Just like how Notre Dame hasn't had a good D-line in a couple years.
- 30:08A good D-tackle.
- 30:08I said D-tackle, and no we haven't.
- 30:11All right.
- 30:12Uh, sorry Cal.
- 30:14Yeah.
