- 0:20favorite location for Hollywood productions, but in recent years the filmmakers have
- 0:24returned to the city in droves. Seduced by both the city's picturesque
- 0:28locales and a newly unveiled rebate program, film crews have scattered across
- 0:32the city over the past few weeks, with sightings of everything from
- 0:36classic nineteen thirties cars to A list actor Ted Danson. Although San
- 0:41Francisco scored some screen time during summer standout The Invite and was
- 0:45the principal location for highly anticipated Josephine, the most extensive production in
- 0:50recent years is the forthcoming third season of Netflix's a Man on
- 0:54the Inside. It may have even eclipsed 2021's The Matrix Resurrections, which
- 0:59saw serious stunt work like low flying helicopters and rooftop jumps. To
- 1:04our knowledge, Ted Danson isn't doing any stunts, but he's certainly traversing
- 1:09a good deal of the city in twenty eight days of shooting.
- 1:12Usually we come up here for a week and make it look
- 1:15like where filming in San Francisco Not this year. We are here
- 1:18all the time, all of the streets, Danson said in an Instagram
- 1:22video with Mayor Daniel Lurie. Danson went on to invite his wife
- 1:26and co star Mary Steenbergen on camera, where she revealed that she
- 1:29fell in love with Danson in San Francisco, and she met her
- 1:32previous husband here as well. True to his word, Danson has been
- 1:37all over. Plus the production spent a few days in San Carlos.
- 1:40Film SF provided SF Gate with once twenty nine pages of documents
- 1:44outlining where the production has filmed through october twenty second. The shoot
- 1:48runs until november sixth. Eagle-eyed Redditors noticed a few of the locales,
- 1:53most notably Danson walking up to the Ferry Building, the site of
- 1:56the Lurie video, and City Hall, where they filmed on september twenty
- 2:00eighth. The San Francisco Armory, once known as the headquarters of pornography
- 2:05producer Kink.com, has gotten a new life hosting large-scale events like Netflix's
- 2:10Stranger Things experiences and served as a site for interior scenes. Another
- 2:15major landmark featured will be the Legion of Honor, which Hoestewed a
- 2:19nighttime shoot. Shortly after hosting Dolly Day, Union Square Plaza served as
- 2:24another filming location in late September, and of course any San Francisco
- 2:29production wouldn't be complete without a cable car shot, which the crew
- 2:32pulled off at the intersection of California and Jones. Other notable exteriors
- 2:37were filmed in Chinatown on the six hundred block of Jackson Street,
- 2:41the seven hundred block of Grant Avenue, and Saint Louis Alley. Danson's
- 2:45likely to spend most of his time in the series solving a
- 2:48mystery, but it appears that he's taking some time out to eat
- 2:51and drink as well, visiting several prominent San Francisco businesses. David's Delicatessen,
- 2:57which has been operating on Geary since nineteen fifty two, hosted the
- 3:00crew on october ninth. It appears Danson may have had himself a
- 3:04power lunch, stopping at noted political stomping ground Sam's Grill on october
- 3:09fourteenth. He also made his way into Cathedral Hill to Tommy's Joint,
- 3:13an old stomping ground for Metallica's band members, shout out to the
- 3:17Thursday night Beef Bourguignon special. And Danson and Company also hit Comstock
- 3:22Saloon, a favorite of Anthony Bourdain on his twenty twelve visit to
- 3:26the city. The plot of this season revolves around a grand dame
- 3:29of San Francisco Society, played by Bernadette Peters, so a few locations
- 3:34offer a more sophisticated view of the city. Historic members only Knob
- 3:38Hill Landmark The University Club was featured for both interior and exterior
- 3:42shots earlier this week. The cast also visited the Curran Theater, which
- 3:46opened in nineteen twenty two. And although it's now a music venue
- 3:51hosting everything from punk rockers to EDM DJs, we're guessing that the
- 3:55Regency Ballroom was chosen more for its ornate interiors than its musical
- 3:59bookings. And while it's probably not Danson's spry Charles Neuendick character, it
- 4:04looks like at least one character in the series may have a
- 4:07health scare, as the crew shot both interiors and exteriors at the
- 4:11Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. A release date for season three has
- 4:16not yet been set, but the first two seasons are streaming on
- 4:19Netflix, and if his experiences in the past are any indication, Danson's
- 4:24likely enjoying himself greatly while he's in town. I went to Stanford
- 4:28for two years, didn't accomplish much, Danson told S. F. Gate in
- 4:32twenty twenty four. But I did get to the city a lot.
- 4:35I won't say anything about Carol Doda. But it's just gorgeous, it's
- 4:38beautiful, the food's amazing. I still get a thrill jumping on a
- 4:41cable car.
