- 0:04Get your BBQ. Ever notice how the sound of
- 0:09sizzling meat and the smell of smoke can silence the noise of
- 0:12the world? Now that's BBQ therapy.
- 0:16If the fire moves you like, subscribe, share and help spread
- 0:20the message because growth, like good BBQ, takes time and
- 0:24patience. Welcome to your therapy session.
- 0:29Welcome back to the BBQ Therapy Podcast.
- 0:31Or if this is your first time here, welcome to the BBQ Therapy
- 0:35Podcast. I'm your host, Tavis Bryant, and
- 0:38today we're doing something a little different.
- 0:40There's no guest, no competition recap, no breakdown of ribs,
- 0:44brisket, or chicken. Today's episode is about the
- 0:47mission, the purpose, the heart behind this podcast and what I
- 0:52truly want from this platform and what I truly want this
- 0:56platform to mean for the BBQ community and beyond.
- 1:00This is an episode that I've wanted to do for a while because
- 1:04if you're going to spend your time listening, following,
- 1:06subscribing, and sharing, you should know exactly what you're
- 1:10part of the why behind BBQ Therapy.
- 1:13Before there was a podcast, there was a feeling.
- 1:16A feeling that BBQ is so much bigger than food, bigger than
- 1:20trophies, bigger than social media posts or highlight reels.
- 1:24Barbecue has always been about people, about connection, about
- 1:29learning from each other, building each other up and
- 1:32understanding the stories behind the pit.
- 1:34I met so many pit masters, cooks, backyard warriors,
- 1:38competitors, and one thing became clear to me.
- 1:41Everyone has a story. Everyone has something they've
- 1:44been through. Everyone has moments that shaped
- 1:47them, broke them, taught them, pushed them, or humble them or
- 1:52help them be successful. Those stories, they matter.
- 1:56And too often we only hear about the winning parts, the polished
- 1:59parts, the parts people are comfortable posting online.
- 2:03But that's not where the real value is.
- 2:05The real value is in the struggle, the mistakes, the
- 2:09doubt, the lessons learned the hard way, and how those lessons
- 2:13help those rise to the top. That's why BBQ Therapy exists.
- 2:18It's a space where people can be real, not perfect, honest, not
- 2:23filtered, human, not invincible. Some people like to tell only
- 2:27part of the story, and it sets other people up for failure or
- 2:31unrealistic expectations. What this podcast is not.
- 2:35Let me make something crystal clear.
- 2:37Now, I don't mind promoting people's products during the
- 2:40episode. I've done that a lot, as you've
- 2:43seen in every episode. But I'm here for the
- 2:46conversation, to learn more about who comes on the show and
- 2:51get them to educate those in their field and looking to get
- 2:54there and motivate them. But BBQ Therapy is not a
- 2:58platform to come on and only promote your products.
- 3:02This isn't a commercial. This isn't a place to push your
- 3:05brand, your merch, or your sauce line.
- 3:08We're not here to make you look like a superhero.
- 3:11This podcast is not for people who think they're above being
- 3:14human. This podcast is not for people
- 3:17who only want to talk about their wins.
- 3:19If you come on this show, we want the full journey.
- 3:23The good, the bad, the ugly, the unexpected, everything that made
- 3:27you who you are. BBQ Therapy is not about ego.
- 3:32It's about experience. It's about connection.
- 3:35It's about helping someone else through your story.
- 3:38So what is BBQ therapy? It's a conversation, a space
- 3:42where pit masters and people in the BBQ world can open up about
- 3:46their journey. Not just food they cook, but the
- 3:49life they've lived. We talk about the failures that
- 3:52became lessons, the mistakes that cost time, money, trophies
- 3:57or confidence. The moments people almost quit,
- 4:00the reason they kept going. The people who believed in them,
- 4:04the memories that hooked them on barbecue in the first place, and
- 4:08the mental side and emotional side are competing, cooking and
- 4:12creating, and the growth that happens on the way to becoming
- 4:16who they are today. This show is for the listener
- 4:19who wants to learn, the competitor who wants to grow,
- 4:24the backyard cook who wants to push themselves, the dreamer who
- 4:27wants to feel seen, the person who needs encouragement through
- 4:30someone else's honesty. This show is for the people who
- 4:34appreciate the craft and the people behind the craft.
- 4:38One thing I love about this show is the mix of guests.
- 4:41You're going to hear conversations with people you
- 4:43already know, big names, champions, educators, legends of
- 4:47the circuit. But you're also going to meet
- 4:49people you never heard of. People who may not get the
- 4:52spotlight, people who don't have a big following, people who
- 4:56haven't made it yet. But their story is powerful,
- 4:59their perspective is different, their journey holds.
- 5:02Lessons you can use. Sometimes the most impactful
- 5:06stories come from the people nobody expects, and that is what
- 5:10BBQ Therapy does. It brings those voices forward.
- 5:13When someone joins me on BBQ Therapy, I ask for one thing.
- 5:18Honesty. I don't need perfection.
- 5:20I don't need polished answers because I'm not a journalist.
- 5:24I don't need to highlight reel. I want the real stuff, the
- 5:28moments that made you question yourself, the moments that
- 5:30humbled you, the moments that taught you something you can
- 5:33still carry today. I want vulnerability, honesty
- 5:37and perspective because that's how we help each other grow.
- 5:41I'm not going to get into your personal business and I'm not
- 5:44going to ask about your recipes. That's your business.
- 5:47But if you want to come on this show just to promote yourself,
- 5:50this isn't your platform. But if you want to come on and
- 5:53share what life has taught you around the pit, you're exactly
- 5:57the kind of guest I want. And now let me talk to you
- 6:00directly, the listener. If this podcast gives you value,
- 6:04if an episode motivates you, teaches you, or gives you a new
- 6:08perspective, I'm asking you to support the mission.
- 6:12Not with money, not with likes or vanity metrics, but by
- 6:16subscribing, rating, sharing, and help us reach the people who
- 6:20need these conversations. Because this is bigger than
- 6:23numbers. This is about impact.
- 6:25This is about the BBQ community. This is about changing the
- 6:29culture of barbecue in a positive way.
- 6:31Every share helps someone hear a story that might change the how
- 6:35they cook or how they compete or how they live.
- 6:38At the end of the day, BBQ therapy is about being human.
- 6:42We're not here to make anyone look perfect.
- 6:44We're here to show that everyone, no matter how
- 6:47successful, has faced challenges, doubts, failures,
- 6:50and turning points. And inside those moments, inside
- 6:54that honesty is where the magic is.
- 6:57That's where people learn. That's where people feel
- 7:00understood, and that's where people realize they're not
- 7:03alone. BBQ therapy isn't just about
- 7:06BBQ. It's about life through the lens
- 7:09of BBQ. It's about growth through smoke,
- 7:12fire, stories, and scars. It's about connection from the
- 7:16pit to the heart. So thank you truly for being
- 7:20here, for listening, supporting, for believing in this vision.
- 7:25I promise to keep bringing you the real conversations, the real
- 7:28stories, and the real people. No filters, no fluff, just truth
- 7:33and a whole lot of BBQ. This is BBQ Therapy, where the
- 7:37fire connects us, the stories shape us, and the journey makes
- 7:41us family. I'm your host, Tavis Bryant and
- 7:45I'll see you in the next episode and remember to like, subscribe
- 7:49and share. We just wrapped up another
- 7:52session of BBQ Therapy. Remember, stay patient, stay
- 7:56passionate and keep that fire burning.
