- 0:00Speaker 1: Lately. Welcome the Late Debate.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Well, thanks for joining us on the Late Debate.
- 0:08Speaker 3: I'm James Macpherson with Liz Storer and Joe Hildebrand coming
- 0:11Speaker 3: up tonight. Not everything went according to planet. Donald Trump's
- 0:16Speaker 3: inauguration will show you what went wrong, plus the African
- 0:19Speaker 3: American preacher who almost stole the show. And then when
- 0:23Speaker 3: we look at what's making news tomorrow, the Queensland LNP
- 0:26Speaker 3: were elected to get tough on crime but already are
- 0:29Speaker 3: being criticized for not being tough enough, and police reveal
- 0:33Speaker 3: they're investigating the possibility that foreign actors have been paying
- 0:37Speaker 3: for anti Semitic attacks here in Australia. We'll get to
- 0:40Speaker 3: all of that a bit later, but of course the
- 0:42Speaker 3: big news today is that Donald Trump is President of
- 0:45Speaker 3: the United States all over again. The forty fifth president
- 0:49Speaker 3: of the United States is now also the forty seventh president,
- 0:53Speaker 3: making him ownly the second person to be president twice,
- 0:56Speaker 3: but with a gap in between presidencies. We'll show you
- 1:00Speaker 3: some of the highlights of his inauguration speech in just
- 1:03Speaker 3: a moment, but before we get into that, listen, Joe,
- 1:06Speaker 3: I want to ask you just your overall impressions of
- 1:09Speaker 3: what transpired today, Liz.
- 1:11Speaker 4: Can I just say massive lack of jubilance with this opener?
- 1:15Speaker 5: Mac, I mean he said it was Oli the greagda was.
- 1:19Speaker 4: I mean, this is the best day. We are saved,
- 1:23Speaker 4: essentially literally, we have a commander in chief, a commander
- 1:28Speaker 4: in chief of the free world who can actually walk
- 1:31Speaker 4: all by himself, and he doesn't trip, and he does stairs,
- 1:35Speaker 4: and he has already thrown out eighty pieces of trash
- 1:40Speaker 4: from the Biden administration. We'll show you clips of that
- 1:43Speaker 4: coming up. This is a turning point in the Western world,
- 1:47Speaker 4: as it was back in twenty sixteen, when, to the
- 1:51Speaker 4: shock and horror of a lot of people, this guy
- 1:54Speaker 4: first darkened the doors of.
- 1:55Speaker 5: The White House.
- 1:56Speaker 4: And this second time is going to be a heck
- 1:58Speaker 4: of a lot more leaf Why because this time the.
- 2:02Speaker 5: Guy knows what he's doing.
- 2:03Speaker 4: He's not rocking up being like how do I fill
- 2:06Speaker 4: ten thousand bums in seats, which you've got to do
- 2:08Speaker 4: when you become president like that, which was what Project
- 2:12Speaker 4: twenty twenty five was all about.
- 2:13Speaker 5: But of course not, No, we had to distance himself
- 2:15Speaker 5: from that.
- 2:16Speaker 4: This is going to be a life changing, game changing
- 2:21Speaker 4: four years now. I'm prepared to be disappointed on a
- 2:24Speaker 4: few accounts.
- 2:25Speaker 5: I talking about government.
- 2:29Speaker 4: I know what I'm in for, but those promises that
- 2:33Speaker 4: were broken last time he was in again. This is
- 2:38Speaker 4: a very different Trump term. He is different as a person.
- 2:43Speaker 4: But secondly, he's ready this time. He's not the new
- 2:46Speaker 4: kid on the block. He's got friends in positions of power,
- 2:49Speaker 4: and he means business. I cannot wait for the next
- 2:53Speaker 4: four years. It is going to be completely and utterly Joe.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Do you share this as exuberance?
- 3:00Speaker 6: To paraphrase Captain America in the Avengers, there's only one
- 3:03Speaker 6: messiah man, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't dress like that.
- 3:06Speaker 1: So I don't think. I don't think Trump is not.
- 3:09Speaker 4: Believe I ever made, and I never would make it.
- 3:12Speaker 1: It's out of a lot like it, out of a
- 3:15Speaker 1: lot like it. I don't think.
- 3:16Speaker 6: I don't think Trump is going to save the world
- 3:19Speaker 6: or fix everything, but I don't think it'll be very interesting.
- 3:21Speaker 6: I do think he has the courage or the cojones
- 3:24Speaker 6: to do things that other administrations have always said can't
- 3:29Speaker 6: or shouldn't be done.
- 3:31Speaker 5: This is what I'm talking about.
- 3:32Speaker 1: I think the reason Let's see, I mean, I'm all,
- 3:36Speaker 1: I'm all you know. I'm waiting. I've got the popcorn.
- 3:38Speaker 1: I'm ready to go.
- 3:39Speaker 6: But I think the Hamas cease fire for better or worse.
- 3:44Speaker 6: I think that was very much a result of Donald
- 3:46Speaker 6: Trump setting that deadline with that sort of sort of damocles.
- 3:49Speaker 1: I'm going to blow you all the kingdom. Come if
- 3:52Speaker 1: you this isn't sorted by mine.
- 3:54Speaker 5: This isn't changing the world according to you.
- 3:56Speaker 1: No, No, I think I think it is. I think
- 3:58Speaker 1: it is good.
- 3:58Speaker 6: But whether or not that ceasefire last, and whether or
- 4:00Speaker 6: not we've just released almost two thousand terrorists for the
- 4:04Speaker 6: sake of thirty three innocent, wonderful, poor, long suffering people.
- 4:09Speaker 6: But again, it's going to be a pretty interesting scenario.
- 4:11Speaker 6: I think the same with Hesbela and Iran. I think
- 4:13Speaker 6: they're both playing nice because they're scared of Trump. It
- 4:15Speaker 6: looks like Zelenski and Putin will probably come to the
- 4:19Speaker 6: table as well. But you know, some of the other stuff,
- 4:23Speaker 6: it'll be interesting to see how it all plays out.
- 4:25Speaker 6: One thing that I that really struck.
- 4:27Speaker 4: You're just talking about foreign policy. I'm talking about America itself.
- 4:32Speaker 4: The calls that he is already made by these executives.
- 4:35Speaker 4: We live a very day that he was sworn in.
- 4:38Speaker 1: But it's American foreign policy.
- 4:40Speaker 4: Saying America sneezes, the rest of the world catches a cold.
- 4:44Speaker 5: And here in Australia, especially when.
- 4:47Speaker 4: That guy is in the White House, people catch the
- 4:50Speaker 4: big dog energy. We saw it even in Morrison to
- 4:54Speaker 4: an extent, and good grief, if any guy can get
- 4:57Speaker 4: a whiff of big dog energy and were a miracle.
- 5:00Speaker 4: I couldn't believe that even Morrison was subjected to this,
- 5:04Speaker 4: and it seemed to have a small effect even on
- 5:07Speaker 4: someone like him.
- 5:08Speaker 5: We saw this in the UK.
- 5:10Speaker 4: There was such an emboldening and this is on the
- 5:14Speaker 4: back of already and emboldening.
- 5:16Speaker 5: That we're seeing across the Western world in.
- 5:18Speaker 4: Europe as these conservative, far more conservative, right leaning governments
- 5:23Speaker 4: come to power.
- 5:24Speaker 5: Now we have the lynchpin of the free world. Look
- 5:30Speaker 5: certainly estimating certain.
- 5:35Speaker 6: Again, he started to sound sort of a bit crazy.
- 5:38Speaker 6: I don't think it's going to be all perfect. I
- 5:40Speaker 6: don't think all the problems will be fixed, Joe, but
- 5:46Speaker 6: I think that there.
- 5:47Speaker 4: Is a momentum and it is this is glorious.
- 5:51Speaker 6: Well, I think what is what is good is obviously
- 5:54Speaker 6: that he is he has you know, that the death
- 5:56Speaker 6: of work is good. That is fantastic. The fact that
- 5:58Speaker 6: identity politics is dead in the water, it is fantastic.
- 6:01Speaker 6: It'll be interesting to see how is there are only
- 6:03Speaker 6: two genders things works, because that is going to create some.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Just technical difficulties. Yeah, sure sure.
- 6:11Speaker 6: And then the other big thing is Orcus, of course,
- 6:14Speaker 6: so we want to make sure that the US is
- 6:16Speaker 6: still all in on Orcus. Trump has always been a
- 6:19Speaker 6: sort of America first, American exceptionalist kind of guy, and
- 6:22Speaker 6: that is totally fine for Americans and America, but Australia
- 6:26Speaker 6: needs American protection.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Liz is over the moon.
- 6:30Speaker 3: This is the greatest moment in our lifetimes. Joe is
- 6:33Speaker 3: sitting on the fence, wait and see.
- 6:35Speaker 1: I'm excited. I'm sitting in the row waiting for the
- 6:42Speaker 1: show to start.
- 6:43Speaker 4: Play down the fact that this is a jolly significant,
- 6:47Speaker 4: very jubilee.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Let's have a look at some of what Trump said
- 6:51Speaker 3: in his inauguration speech. Of course, Trump's presidency really is
- 6:54Speaker 3: a miracle. It's a miracle he was elected when you
- 6:56Speaker 3: consider where he was just two years ago. It's a
- 7:00Speaker 3: miracle he lived to be elected. When you consider a
- 7:02Speaker 3: bullet came within a millimeter of taking off his head.
- 7:06Speaker 2: To point the Trump reference during his speech.
- 7:08Speaker 7: Today, just a few months ago in a beautiful Pennsylvania
- 7:12Speaker 7: field and assassin's bullet ripped through my ear. But I
- 7:18Speaker 7: felt then, and believe even more so now, that my
- 7:21Speaker 7: life was saved for a reason. I was saved by
- 7:25Speaker 7: God to make America great again?
- 7:30Speaker 1: Okay? Is this?
- 7:32Speaker 2: And you were sneer when he said that, but I
- 7:34Speaker 2: know laughing it.
- 7:36Speaker 6: Is, I promise you Trump is making a gag with No,
- 7:39Speaker 6: he is not.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Trump actually believes that God saved his life. And I
- 7:43Speaker 3: don't know anyone who could believe that the bullet came
- 7:46Speaker 3: within a millimeter of taking off his head and that
- 7:48Speaker 3: wasn't an act of divine protection. Anyone who's religious would
- 7:51Speaker 3: certainly believe that, which brings me to another thought. He
- 7:54Speaker 3: mentioned God a couple of times in his speech today.
- 7:58Speaker 3: It's almost like God is back in fashion when you
- 8:00Speaker 3: consider the Democrats in their twenty twenty four policy platform
- 8:03Speaker 3: did not mention God at all. In twenty nineteen, the
- 8:07Speaker 3: Democrat National Committee said that their largest constituency is people
- 8:11Speaker 3: without any religious affiliation.
- 8:12Speaker 2: And do you remember Joe Biden a couple.
- 8:14Speaker 3: Of years ago, when he talked about how we're all
- 8:16Speaker 3: created equal by the thing, even for himself, the Supreme
- 8:22Speaker 3: Baard in the Declaration of Independence. But Trump references the
- 8:26Speaker 3: fact that not only does he believe he was saved
- 8:29Speaker 3: by God to do what he's called to do, which
- 8:31Speaker 3: means he is a man on a mission and not
- 8:33Speaker 3: mucking around. But later on in the speech, he also
- 8:35Speaker 3: talked about the fact that we will not forget we
- 8:38Speaker 3: are a nation under God. All of a sudden, the
- 8:41Speaker 3: God word is being used in popular culture all over again.
- 8:45Speaker 4: Absolutely, I take Joe's point, which I think this is
- 8:48Speaker 4: your point, that obviously Trump knows his audience as every
- 8:52Speaker 4: politician does, and only the Good Lord himself knows how
- 8:56Speaker 4: sincere Trump's belief in him, Trump's faith in him between.
- 9:00Speaker 5: Him and is God. All I know is Gosh.
- 9:03Speaker 4: It galvanizes the face not included. I can't even vote
- 9:07Speaker 4: for the guy, so obviously I didn't, but that he
- 9:10Speaker 4: certainly carries it beautifully. And this is what the backbone
- 9:15Speaker 4: of America wants to hear. It's not just the Bible Belt,
- 9:19Speaker 4: it's people who have been feel unheard, people who feel
- 9:24Speaker 4: like their country has been trashed over the last four years,
- 9:27Speaker 4: and even those who aren't, you know, incredibly religious, are like,
- 9:33Speaker 4: you know, what, what harm is it gonna do if
- 9:36Speaker 4: we do chuck in a few prayers. And it was
- 9:38Speaker 4: just minutes after Trump said the oath that they had
- 9:42Speaker 4: these kids marching through the foyer singing glory, Glory, hallelu Yeah.
- 9:47Speaker 5: His truth keeps marching.
- 9:48Speaker 4: On like this whole I watched the whole ceremony. It
- 9:53Speaker 4: was extremely livening. If you are a person of faith,
- 9:57Speaker 4: and I take your point, Joe, that was an accident.
- 10:01Speaker 5: I get it.
- 10:02Speaker 4: But when it comes to a politician faking as many
- 10:06Speaker 4: of our pollies do, faking a relationship with Christ, I
- 10:11Speaker 4: always just go, you know what, at the end of
- 10:13Speaker 4: the day, there is one righteous judge and you'll answer
- 10:15Speaker 4: to him.
- 10:16Speaker 6: But it's not faking it. He's saying it's a piece
- 10:20Speaker 6: of performance. He knows he does. The pregium poison goes.
- 10:23Speaker 6: I believe that God saved my life. And after that,
- 10:25Speaker 6: you would normally, if you're real born again Christian, or
- 10:28Speaker 6: if you were someone who was really the Lord, you know,
- 10:30Speaker 6: you would say, you know, to find peace, to find Jesus,
- 10:33Speaker 6: to help my fellow man, and whatever it is, and
- 10:34Speaker 6: then instead he brings out his world famous, world worn
- 10:37Speaker 6: slogan to make America great again.
- 10:40Speaker 1: It would be like Joe Biden.
- 10:41Speaker 4: Saying, I don't think God wants to make like.
- 10:44Speaker 6: Joe Biden saying, I believe that God saved me to
- 10:47Speaker 6: build back better. Okay, so he's saying it as a
- 10:49Speaker 6: piece of performance.
- 10:50Speaker 1: If you want to.
- 10:51Speaker 5: In that case, we would not.
- 10:53Speaker 1: You can go to it.
- 10:54Speaker 2: God doesn't want to.
- 10:55Speaker 6: There's also a whole bunch of really interesting history between
- 10:57Speaker 6: Donald Trump and the evangelical lobby, and of course stay
- 11:00Speaker 6: very much.
- 11:01Speaker 3: When he believes it's a great performance.
- 11:05Speaker 4: At I just believe that it is just performance. This
- 11:09Speaker 4: is the only president who has also done in the famous.
- 11:13Speaker 5: March for Life supporting.
- 11:15Speaker 4: Life in America being anti abortion. I think I.
- 11:21Speaker 5: Cannot How often does he go to church?
- 11:23Speaker 4: Going to church doesn't make you a Christian anymore than
- 11:25Speaker 4: going to a farm, ex.
- 11:27Speaker 5: Cow we're going to.
- 11:30Speaker 6: If that God had actually saved your life to implement
- 11:33Speaker 6: your policies, you'd probably rock up both Sundays.
- 11:36Speaker 4: Well, you don't know that he doesn't, and maybe he
- 11:39Speaker 4: is chosen not to do as the Pharisees do, which
- 11:42Speaker 4: is what God didn't like very much.
- 11:44Speaker 5: He's doing everything in the.
- 11:45Speaker 4: Open, so people could be like, oh, he's so religious.
- 11:47Speaker 5: He's so amazing. Maybe he goes to church in his
- 11:50Speaker 5: own It's.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Great to watch. But again, I don't think coating this
- 11:55Speaker 1: in a messiatic.
- 12:00Speaker 8: God.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Let's keep going.
- 12:01Speaker 3: I don't know if God or not, but he certainly
- 12:04Speaker 3: believes he was saved by God. I'll tell you the
- 12:06Speaker 3: other thing Trump believes in, and that is in cheap
- 12:08Speaker 3: and reliable energy.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Have listened.
- 12:12Speaker 7: The inflation crisis was caused by massive overspending and escalating
- 12:16Speaker 7: energy prices. And that is why today I will also
- 12:20Speaker 7: declare a national energy emergency. We will drill, baby, drill.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Again. It's a punchline, classic punchline. You're going to get
- 12:38Speaker 1: the crowd. Faith. He's a good speech maker. Take the compliment.
- 12:45Speaker 3: But it's not just a punchline. It's economic security, it's
- 12:48Speaker 3: national security. It's more than a punchline. It's a policy.
- 12:51Speaker 1: In his pulses, Drill, Drill, baby, drill again.
- 12:54Speaker 6: This is all you're talking about, the theater of his inauguration.
- 12:57Speaker 6: This is the way he does and he does it
- 12:59Speaker 6: with these really punchy that he knows we'll get people
- 13:02Speaker 6: on their feet. He knows they'll get a laugh, and
- 13:05Speaker 6: again he.
- 13:05Speaker 5: Says politicians were half as good.
- 13:08Speaker 1: This is what he does.
- 13:09Speaker 6: He sends out a really earnest thing, and it's what
- 13:11Speaker 6: every great performer or speechmaker or comedian does. You pretend,
- 13:15Speaker 6: don't pretend, but you set the tone like you're really,
- 13:17Speaker 6: really really serious about something, and then you've just speared
- 13:21Speaker 6: the balloon.
- 13:22Speaker 3: Really big on slogans tonight for politicians. Can you talk
- 13:25Speaker 3: to Elban Easy about his what's his?
- 13:26Speaker 2: I've got your back?
- 13:29Speaker 1: The future made as either are good.
- 13:35Speaker 6: He has got Peter Dunn's back in the latest pole,
- 13:37Speaker 6: so hopefully he turns that around real.
- 13:39Speaker 2: There's one other apart from his speech.
- 13:41Speaker 3: We want to show you that I know Liz is
- 13:43Speaker 3: pretty excited about, and that relates to COVID vaccine mandates
- 13:46Speaker 3: and what happened with people who refuse them.
- 13:50Speaker 7: This week, I will reinstate any service members who were
- 13:53Speaker 7: unjustly expelled from our military for objecting to the COVID
- 13:57Speaker 7: vaccine mandate with full back pain.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Liz, I know you'd be very happy, but oh justice.
- 14:07Speaker 4: Justice has arrived for those military members.
- 14:09Speaker 5: We know that this happened to thousands of them.
- 14:13Speaker 4: And again this is something that every government, I think,
- 14:17Speaker 4: needs to revisit with full back pay. As he said,
- 14:22Speaker 4: then think of all our nurses. Think of the doctors
- 14:24Speaker 4: who were gagged by opera here in Australia, weren't allowed
- 14:28Speaker 4: to speak out, had to act against their consciences. Think
- 14:31Speaker 4: of all the state employed people in education, in the
- 14:35Speaker 4: police force who lost their jobs because they refused to
- 14:39Speaker 4: take a vaccine that was.
- 14:40Speaker 5: Still in trial phases.
- 14:42Speaker 4: All of them were still in trial phases and they
- 14:46Speaker 4: were unemployed. They were made to suffer for it financially.
- 14:51Speaker 4: For me, being unvaccinated was one of the most, if
- 14:54Speaker 4: not the most expensive decision I've ever made in my
- 14:57Speaker 4: entire life.
- 14:58Speaker 5: And I don't regret it one bit.
- 15:00Speaker 4: But the fact that he has recognized this injustice and
- 15:03Speaker 4: he is going to see to it that they are
- 15:06Speaker 4: restored financially, Oh chef's kiss, This is beautiful. It needs
- 15:11Speaker 4: to become a trend. The government does not get to
- 15:14Speaker 4: mandate what you have to have injected into your body
- 15:17Speaker 4: in order to participate in society. I don't care if
- 15:20Speaker 4: we have any bowler outbreak taken from someone with a
- 15:23Speaker 4: master's degree in human rights. You do not this is
- 15:27Speaker 4: the one thing on earth you have complete control over.
- 15:30Speaker 4: And that is why we recognize crimes like rape or
- 15:33Speaker 4: sexual assault, or assault of any kind as being unspeakably bad,
- 15:38Speaker 4: because this is yours. The government will take your money,
- 15:43Speaker 4: it will tax you on everything you ever managed to own,
- 15:46Speaker 4: you will read to do so throughout your entire life.
- 15:50Speaker 4: But when it comes to your physical being, the answer
- 15:54Speaker 4: is no.
- 15:55Speaker 1: All right.
- 15:56Speaker 3: So while it was a day of glory for Donald Trump,
- 15:58Speaker 3: it was another day of infamy for Joe Biden, who
- 16:01Speaker 3: right at the last moment, In fact, it was announced
- 16:04Speaker 3: as he and Jill were on their way to the
- 16:06Speaker 3: inauguration ceremony, issued preemptive pardons for Anthony Fauci and for
- 16:13Speaker 3: his entire family. And these preemptive pardons, some of them
- 16:17Speaker 3: go back for the last ten years now. Joe Biden
- 16:21Speaker 3: said in a statement, quote, I believe in the rule
- 16:23Speaker 3: of law, but these are exceptional circumstances.
- 16:27Speaker 2: Sounds a little self serving.
- 16:29Speaker 3: Donald Trump had this to say about Biden issuing these
- 16:32Speaker 3: preemptive pardons for his family.
- 16:36Speaker 9: I was surprised that President Biden who would go and
- 16:44Speaker 9: pardon his whole family, because that makes him look very
- 16:46Speaker 9: guilty and I could have pardon my family. I could
- 16:49Speaker 9: have pardoned myself my family, and I said, if I
- 16:52Speaker 9: do that, it's going to make me look very guilty.
- 16:54Speaker 9: Are they going to be sitting here?
- 16:55Speaker 3: Frankly, the weird thing about this, Joe, is you pardon
- 16:58Speaker 3: someone for a crime that had been connected tried. But
- 17:01Speaker 3: when you're pardoning people who've been accused of no crime,
- 17:04Speaker 3: that's less a pardon than a shield, isn't it.
- 17:07Speaker 6: Oh, this is this is minority report, this is pre crime,
- 17:11Speaker 6: this is this is part of it.
- 17:12Speaker 1: But it's kind of like the opposite.
- 17:13Speaker 6: Instead of arresting someone for a crime that they haven't
- 17:15Speaker 6: yet committed, you're pardoning them from a crime they hadn't
- 17:18Speaker 6: yet committed.
- 17:18Speaker 1: But again, I just love, Oh, they've committed the crime.
- 17:21Speaker 6: I love the Donald's performance with this, which is that
- 17:24Speaker 6: I know because I think the pardon applies for anything
- 17:26Speaker 6: they may be charged with in the future. But but
- 17:30Speaker 6: the I love the fact that the Donald when he's
- 17:34Speaker 6: when he's saying this again, he doesn't do what the
- 17:37Speaker 6: left did when it was Donald Trump pardoning people and
- 17:40Speaker 6: them not liking saying.
- 17:41Speaker 1: This is outrage. He's violated the.
- 17:43Speaker 6: Sanctity of the office of the prevdor Trump talks instead
- 17:46Speaker 6: of all the hyper bowl the hyperboles. Sorry, how did
- 17:49Speaker 6: the Julia Gillard pronunciation? He he says, Oh, that looks
- 17:54Speaker 6: really dodgy, Like he speaks in a way that absolutely
- 17:57Speaker 6: everyone can understand, but also speaks in a way that
- 18:00Speaker 6: actually goes straight to harvest says, hang on a minute,
- 18:03Speaker 6: you know, like that sort of tough New York street
- 18:05Speaker 6: wise attitude to it.
- 18:06Speaker 1: Say, hang on a minute.
- 18:07Speaker 6: If he's gone around pardoning people, that means they must
- 18:10Speaker 6: have done something. So instead of all the historyonics around,
- 18:15Speaker 6: you know, Joe Biden besmirching the great office of the
- 18:18Speaker 6: President of the United States, or dragging our country into you,
- 18:22Speaker 6: or Joe Biden has actually Hitler, which is all the
- 18:24Speaker 6: things that the Democrats would have said if Trump did it.
- 18:27Speaker 6: He just goes, well, obviously this guy looks guilty then,
- 18:31Speaker 6: and he goes, I'm too smart to do that, because
- 18:32Speaker 6: I know I want to look guilty.
- 18:34Speaker 2: Of course, the other.
- 18:34Speaker 3: Part of this is that Joe Biden had said he
- 18:37Speaker 3: would not do this. Have listened to Democrat Senator Adam
- 18:40Speaker 3: Schiff who some time ago said no, no, this would never happen. Biden,
- 18:43Speaker 3: I have talked, and there'll be no preemptive pardons issued.
- 18:47Speaker 10: The precedent of giving blanket pardons preempted blanket pardons on
- 18:53Speaker 10: the way out of an administration. I think as a precedent,
- 18:55Speaker 10: we don't want to set and.
- 18:56Speaker 5: You've communicated that to the president.
- 18:58Speaker 10: President Baden communicated at publicly and privately to the misteration.
- 19:03Speaker 3: Question I have, Liz, is do you think Trump will
- 19:05Speaker 3: go after people? And with a right to fear that
- 19:09Speaker 3: Trump was going to say, go after Fauci? Or do
- 19:11Speaker 3: you think Trump is going to fresh start. Let's not
- 19:15Speaker 3: abuse the rule of law. Let's just move forward and
- 19:18Speaker 3: not look back.
- 19:18Speaker 4: It would not have been an abuse of the law
- 19:21Speaker 4: to go after Anthony Fauci. I'm like, Anthony Pauci's pardoned
- 19:26Speaker 4: with Satan unavailable, Seriously.
- 19:29Speaker 5: Who else do you want to pardon?
- 19:32Speaker 4: He also pardons the general whose name was Mark Milly,
- 19:36Speaker 4: who outright admitted that behind at the time Presidents Trump's back.
- 19:41Speaker 4: He told China, don't worry, we haven't got any incoming strikes.
- 19:46Speaker 5: And if we did, I would give you guys a
- 19:49Speaker 5: heads up.
- 19:50Speaker 4: The biggest enemy of the United States of America here
- 19:54Speaker 4: was this general, Mark Millie saying, Hey, just so you know, we're.
- 19:58Speaker 5: Mates China and so so.
- 20:00Speaker 4: If anything's coming down the pipeline at my end, I
- 20:03Speaker 4: will let you know that guy's pardoned. This is the
- 20:07Speaker 4: likes of the people that this guy has used his powers.
- 20:10Speaker 5: And let's be clear.
- 20:11Speaker 4: Here, it is totally run of the mill normal for
- 20:14Speaker 4: presidents to pardon everyday Americans who have been convicted of
- 20:19Speaker 4: crimes on their way out the door. This is totally different.
- 20:24Speaker 4: These people haven't been convicted of anything. They haven't even
- 20:27Speaker 4: been investigated. So the purpose of these pardons is to
- 20:32Speaker 4: ensure that they won't be investigated. And the importance of
- 20:37Speaker 4: this cannot be overstated because what he's essentially done is
- 20:42Speaker 4: create a class of people who can get away with
- 20:47Speaker 4: murder thanks to being in the family of the highest
- 20:51Speaker 4: ranking officer in the Western world, who then pardons them.
- 20:57Speaker 5: And waltzes out the door.
- 21:00Speaker 4: Or I'm telling you, if you ever wondered who the
- 21:02Speaker 4: deep state really are, well a chunk of them just
- 21:05Speaker 4: got pardoned. Who the heck has the temerity to pardon?
- 21:10Speaker 5: Here's the list. Here's the list that.
- 21:12Speaker 4: The president put out in the dying minutes of his presidency.
- 21:16Speaker 4: He pardoned his sister, her husband, his two brothers, and
- 21:22Speaker 4: one of his brother's wives. So he's covering off on
- 21:26Speaker 4: the in laws.
- 21:27Speaker 5: I'm surprised there aren't their family pets listed.
- 21:31Speaker 4: I mean after the embarrassment and the rightful media backlash
- 21:36Speaker 4: when he not just preemptively but retrospectively pardoned his son
- 21:42Speaker 4: Hunter Biden.
- 21:43Speaker 5: And we all know the dodginess.
- 21:45Speaker 4: We know that the Biden family pocketed millions from Ukraine
- 21:49Speaker 4: and good chunks of money from China as well. We
- 21:52Speaker 4: know that went on and once again.
- 21:56Speaker 5: He Waltz is free.
- 21:57Speaker 4: Also, this is a crime thing family syndicate that has
- 22:01Speaker 4: made sure that for as long as they live, they're
- 22:05Speaker 4: in the clear.
- 22:06Speaker 3: So does he go after the fifty one intelligence experts
- 22:09Speaker 3: who famously came out and declared that the Hunter Biden
- 22:12Speaker 3: laptop was Russian misinformation propaganda. Trump has suspended their security clearances.
- 22:20Speaker 2: That's a first step.
- 22:22Speaker 3: Does he then go after and prosecute them, because arguably
- 22:25Speaker 3: you could accuse them of election interference. Seventeen percent of
- 22:29Speaker 3: Americans so they would have voted differently had they known
- 22:32Speaker 3: Hunter Biden's laptop was real.
- 22:34Speaker 2: But of course they were.
- 22:35Speaker 3: Told by former members of the American security agencies.
- 22:39Speaker 2: That this was all this information and they knew well
- 22:42Speaker 2: that it wasn't.
- 22:42Speaker 3: Because the security had had the laptop for close to
- 22:47Speaker 3: twelve months before they came out and saw Russian.
- 22:49Speaker 6: How's this for an idea, right, so you go, as
- 22:52Speaker 6: Liz said, The idea, presumably is that Biden says, well,
- 22:55Speaker 6: there's no point investigating any of this because it will
- 22:57Speaker 6: just result in the pardon anyway. But it doesn't mean
- 23:02Speaker 6: you can't still investigate anyway, pursue everything to the nth degree,
- 23:06Speaker 6: take it through the courts, get the conviction.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Now.
- 23:08Speaker 6: Oh, but then you've been pardoned. Imagine how that would
- 23:10Speaker 6: look if you actually and if I'm sure there must
- 23:13Speaker 6: be people in Trump's administration smart enough to see how
- 23:16Speaker 6: brilliant would look if they've just got the most lay
- 23:18Speaker 6: down as their easily prosecutable case of any of this,
- 23:23Speaker 6: presumably the closest you could get to Biden the best.
- 23:25Speaker 4: He's still referring to the spies that lied.
- 23:27Speaker 6: No, No, no, any of them, any of the any
- 23:30Speaker 6: of the people on the list of Hunter Biden, of
- 23:33Speaker 6: Joe Biden's list of pardons, including his own family. Right,
- 23:37Speaker 6: just because he's pardoned them doesn't mean, you can't then
- 23:41Speaker 6: drag you can prosecute them and drag them all through
- 23:44Speaker 6: the legal process, and then presumably I would think I'm
- 23:47Speaker 6: not a constitutional lawyer, but you could have the judge
- 23:49Speaker 6: actually find them guilty, at which point they would be
- 23:52Speaker 6: instantly pardoned and walk scot free.
- 23:55Speaker 1: Imagine a jury or.
- 23:56Speaker 6: A Joby white House finding any of these people guilty
- 24:00Speaker 6: of crimes against the state, heart trees, and whatever you
- 24:03Speaker 6: want to call it, and then just being able to
- 24:05Speaker 6: walk out of the courtroom going sorry, guys already got pardon.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Imagine the theater of that. This I just gave you
- 24:11Speaker 1: a boy, a great idea.
- 24:13Speaker 5: Oh that's follow through.
- 24:15Speaker 4: Although remember that even while Hunter Biden was in the
- 24:20Speaker 4: limelight and getting absolutely roasted for his actions in the past,
- 24:25Speaker 4: we never got proper sentencing. The guy got slapped on
- 24:29Speaker 4: the wrist. We can watch videos of his shenanigans with
- 24:33Speaker 4: crack cocaine. We can't even show you the photos of
- 24:36Speaker 4: him with all the hooks carrying on. All sorts of
- 24:40Speaker 4: stuff was going on with this guy that we actually
- 24:42Speaker 4: can't show you.
- 24:43Speaker 5: The courts knew all of that, and the guy just again.
- 24:46Speaker 4: Even before he had this massive pardon from his father.
- 24:50Speaker 4: They didn't get justice in the courts. But what Trump's
- 24:53Speaker 4: done here with these spies that lied, there's.
- 24:56Speaker 5: Over fifty of them, is so important.
- 24:58Speaker 4: Because we are supposed to believe that despite the CIA
- 25:02Speaker 4: interfering foreign interference to the back teeth in elections and
- 25:08Speaker 4: toppling governments all over the world, we've known about it
- 25:12Speaker 4: since the forties, most recently Siria.
- 25:14Speaker 5: That was Operation Timber Sycamore. Look it up.
- 25:18Speaker 4: Obama ordered the CIA to get rid of the Assad government,
- 25:23Speaker 4: and yes, they do plan these things that far out
- 25:26Speaker 4: in advance. So him going after the CIA, who then
- 25:30Speaker 4: tried to convince us that, oh, you know, we weren't
- 25:34Speaker 4: involved in election interference. Yes, you were right at home, baby,
- 25:39Speaker 4: because you guys held onto this laptop you insisted it
- 25:43Speaker 4: was Russian disinformation. Like you say, seventeen percent of Americans
- 25:46Speaker 4: would have voted differently, We'll never know what the outcome
- 25:50Speaker 4: of the twenty twenty election would have been. Now, So
- 25:54Speaker 4: the more he digs out these absolute evil siccos as
- 25:58Speaker 4: far as I'm concerned, if you know any thing about
- 26:00Speaker 4: the history of the CIA and their dealings, the more
- 26:03Speaker 4: he digs out the bad eggs, the better because these
- 26:07Speaker 4: guys never retire. They hang around Washington, DC, they go
- 26:11Speaker 4: on CNN and MSNBC, Former CIA, this former CIA, that
- 26:16Speaker 4: they massage the public psyche, They manipulate understandings regarding massively
- 26:23Speaker 4: important world events. And the fact that he's just like
- 26:28Speaker 4: picking out over fifty of them in this one swathe,
- 26:31Speaker 4: going I'm coming after you and for now your clearance
- 26:35Speaker 4: is just like they're the.
- 26:36Speaker 3: Very definition of what Trump refers to as the deep state.
- 26:39Speaker 3: It was only Trump's day, but I liked how he
- 26:42Speaker 3: made it the people's day. When he finished his inauguration,
- 26:45Speaker 3: he started signing many, many, dozens and dozens, almost two
- 26:50Speaker 3: hundred executive orders, but rather than doing it all from
- 26:53Speaker 3: the Oval office, he did it at the Capital One
- 26:56Speaker 3: Arena in front of thousands of people so they could
- 26:59Speaker 3: enjoy the moment.
- 27:00Speaker 2: Have look at this.
- 27:01Speaker 3: This is Trump signing an executive order to abandon the
- 27:04Speaker 3: Paris Climate Agreement.
- 27:06Speaker 8: The next item here is the withdrawal from the Paris
- 27:09Speaker 8: Climate Treaty. We're going to save over a trillion dollars
- 27:18Speaker 8: by withdrawing from that treaty.
- 27:25Speaker 3: Of course, Anthony Albanese was immediately asked, what does this
- 27:28Speaker 3: mean for Australia, and Anthony Albanesi replied, where a sovereign nation.
- 27:34Speaker 2: Can fool me on that?
- 27:35Speaker 3: With all of our treaties that we've signed up to,
- 27:37Speaker 3: he says, we'll continue to take action on climate change,
- 27:39Speaker 3: not just because we have an interest in meeting the challenge.
- 27:42Speaker 3: We know Australia has been adversely affected by extreme weather events,
- 27:45Speaker 3: so of course that's going to change the weather here
- 27:48Speaker 3: in Australia.
- 27:48Speaker 2: But he goes on to say, even if.
- 27:51Speaker 3: You don't accept the science of climate change, Joe, economic
- 27:54Speaker 3: opportunity to grow the economy is too good to miss
- 27:57Speaker 3: out on.
- 27:58Speaker 2: Is he joking?
- 27:59Speaker 1: No? If he gets absolutely.
- 28:01Speaker 3: Tanking because of energy prices, if Trump has just saved
- 28:04Speaker 3: the US a trillion dollars with the stroke of his
- 28:06Speaker 3: pen getting out of this thing, and Albaniez he says,
- 28:08Speaker 3: oh no, no, this is the future for our economy.
- 28:10Speaker 1: If you get it right. And obviously it is to
- 28:12Speaker 1: get it right.
- 28:14Speaker 6: Neatly that qualified is doing a lot of heavy lifting.
- 28:17Speaker 6: But again, so a really good example is gas. Right,
- 28:20Speaker 6: So Australia has completely screwed the perch with gas because
- 28:25Speaker 6: we listened too long and too much to the crazy
- 28:29Speaker 6: climate extremists who said, no, we can't have any gas
- 28:32Speaker 6: in the system at all, it has to be all
- 28:34Speaker 6: green electricity, and we basically shot ourselves in the foot.
- 28:38Speaker 6: And you can see Madeline King, the Resources Minister, trying
- 28:40Speaker 6: to do a reverse ferret on that and reopening gas supplies,
- 28:44Speaker 6: reopening gas fields in Victoria and New South Wales where
- 28:47Speaker 6: there were stupid moratoriums that made no sense whatsoever. The
- 28:50Speaker 6: Victorian premier is into Alan is now begging for more gas,
- 28:53Speaker 6: having banned it from use in all households, and again
- 28:57Speaker 6: by opening the gas fields in Narrabrai which have been
- 29:00Speaker 6: laid for what happening.
- 29:00Speaker 2: It isn't the point. Trump has gotten rid of ideology, elevantage.
- 29:04Speaker 2: It's just cheap, reliable.
- 29:07Speaker 1: So he's doing that is great.
- 29:09Speaker 6: But what Albanz is saying is there are opportunities to
- 29:13Speaker 6: for example, you know hydrogen. Japan is desperate for hydrogen
- 29:18Speaker 6: imports from Australia, so our hy exports to them. If
- 29:21Speaker 6: we can get that right, that is a multi, multi,
- 29:23Speaker 6: multi billion dollar industry. And again we've got heaps of
- 29:26Speaker 6: gas which is better than coal and better to burn
- 29:28Speaker 6: than coal. If we exploit that instead of suppressing it
- 29:31Speaker 6: because it's not perfect, which is what the greenies want
- 29:33Speaker 6: to do, then that is a huge opportunity. In fact,
- 29:36Speaker 6: the reason why we have gas shortages in Australia is
- 29:38Speaker 6: because the gas producers can sell it for so much
- 29:40Speaker 6: more overseas. So again, you can get it right if
- 29:44Speaker 6: you're sensible and pragmatic about it, but not when you
- 29:48Speaker 6: are sort of one eyed about it.
- 29:49Speaker 1: And that was what I think.
- 29:51Speaker 4: When you're signed up to the Paris Agreement, the most
- 29:54Speaker 4: expensive piece of paper on the face of planet Earth,
- 29:58Speaker 4: why can't you say, yes, we'll take action on climate change,
- 30:02Speaker 4: not by signing up to some stupid United Nations World
- 30:05Speaker 4: Economic Forum trash. We are going to do our own
- 30:09Speaker 4: thing regarding our piddly one point three percent of global admissions,
- 30:13Speaker 4: do me a flip and favor. And surely with a
- 30:16Speaker 4: behemoth like the United States pulling out, what the heck
- 30:19Speaker 4: are we doing in it with our piddley one point
- 30:22Speaker 4: three We just want the clap on the back, don't we.
- 30:25Speaker 5: An actual will?
- 30:27Speaker 2: Because what Trump's.
- 30:28Speaker 4: Doing by pulling out is saying I'm doing what's best
- 30:31Speaker 4: for my country is America first, and my goodness, I
- 30:35Speaker 4: would trade my two front teeth and a limb of
- 30:39Speaker 4: your choosing to hear Australia first out of the mouth
- 30:43Speaker 4: of an Australian prime minister.
- 30:46Speaker 5: It's really not.
- 30:47Speaker 1: That hard Australia.
- 30:49Speaker 4: That's such a massive lie.
- 30:54Speaker 5: What an absolute joke.
- 30:56Speaker 4: Trump is also withdrawn from the World Heth Health Organization, much.
- 31:01Speaker 5: To my absolute gly This guy hates the UN.
- 31:05Speaker 4: He calls them out for the absolute pathetic shills that
- 31:09Speaker 4: we call them out for all the time.
- 31:12Speaker 5: He knows what they are.
- 31:14Speaker 4: They are a bloated bureaucracy elected by absolutely nobody and
- 31:20Speaker 4: completely meaningless. These guys get the likes of Iran and
- 31:24Speaker 4: China to head up their human rights counsels and all
- 31:27Speaker 4: sorts of nonsense. We know that they mean nothing, and
- 31:31Speaker 4: yet we so willingly participate in all their ridiculous little projects.
- 31:37Speaker 5: One of the first things.
- 31:38Speaker 4: I learned when I was studying my master's degree of
- 31:40Speaker 4: Human rights is that this is a completely toothless organization.
- 31:45Speaker 4: All the treaties, all the conventions, they actually mean nothing.
- 31:51Speaker 5: We get applauded.
- 31:52Speaker 4: Even Iran and the likes of China, who are so
- 31:56Speaker 4: responsible for all these human rights abuses that are.
- 32:00Speaker 5: Famous the world over. They get as much applause as
- 32:03Speaker 5: we do for.
- 32:04Speaker 4: Being signees to these treaties and these it is nonsense.
- 32:10Speaker 1: And Trump Caliban, they are very tough on climate.
- 32:13Speaker 5: Change as bs. I'm not even playing along. I'm out.
- 32:17Speaker 3: And he pointed out that China have a population three
- 32:19Speaker 3: hundred percent larger than the US and yet pay ninety
- 32:24Speaker 3: percent less to the World Health Organization than the US. Well,
- 32:28Speaker 3: Trump will probably change America is convinced. He absolutely will
- 32:32Speaker 3: change the entire universe to Mars as well.
- 32:35Speaker 1: But the entire world.
- 32:38Speaker 3: I'll tell you what won't change, and that is the
- 32:40Speaker 3: progressive left wing media. They are still doing their same
- 32:44Speaker 3: old tricks. The laugh is that they think anyone's going
- 32:48Speaker 3: to believe it. Have a look at what they did
- 32:49Speaker 3: to Elon Musk today. I'll show you first a little
- 32:52Speaker 3: part of a speech that Elon Musk gave. Musk was
- 32:55Speaker 3: very excited about the inauguration today, and he expressed that
- 32:59Speaker 3: excite meant to have a look.
- 33:02Speaker 1: I just want to say, thank you for making it happen.
- 33:05Speaker 1: Thank you. My heart goes out to you.
- 33:15Speaker 2: So his heart went out to all the people there.
- 33:18Speaker 3: His heart was going out to have a look at
- 33:19Speaker 3: how CNN reported his heart going out.
- 33:24Speaker 11: I just want to look at that salute that he
- 33:26Speaker 11: gave again.
- 33:27Speaker 1: Just if anybody missed it.
- 33:29Speaker 5: We'll just show it again. He's just wrapped up here.
- 33:31Speaker 5: You can hear the all right, So we just showed that.
- 33:35Speaker 5: We just showed that, right, it's worth salute. It was quick.
- 33:40Speaker 5: I think our viewers are smart and they can take
- 33:43Speaker 5: a look at that. But it certainly was It's not.
- 33:45Speaker 1: Something that you typically see in American political rallies.
- 33:47Speaker 7: Put it that way.
- 33:48Speaker 5: No, No, it was not something that you usually would see.
- 33:53Speaker 2: They just showed that.
- 33:54Speaker 3: They just showed that our viewers are smart enough to realize.
- 33:57Speaker 2: What we're continue insinuating. Here are they insinuated?
- 34:01Speaker 4: What I thought was hilarious about watching this clip. I
- 34:04Speaker 4: genuinely think both of them are too dumb to know
- 34:08Speaker 4: it's called the seguile, that's.
- 34:09Speaker 5: What you're trying to refer to.
- 34:11Speaker 4: But it was like she just refers to it as
- 34:13Speaker 4: a salute because she's like, what's it called the hitless salute?
- 34:17Speaker 4: Why wouldn't you just say, gosh, that looks a lot
- 34:20Speaker 4: like seghile. Let's just say what I'm trying to say. No,
- 34:24Speaker 4: I genuinely think that both those ladies did not know
- 34:28Speaker 4: what to call it, so we're trying to say it,
- 34:31Speaker 4: but literally couldn't.
- 34:32Speaker 3: And yet they were accusing Elon Musk of doing Joe
- 34:35Speaker 3: a Nazi salute. And while they hinted at it, other
- 34:38Speaker 3: news organizations just came out and said it. PBS tweeted
- 34:41Speaker 3: billionaire Elon Musk gave what appeared to be a fascist
- 34:44Speaker 3: salute Monday while making a speech at the post inauguration celebration.
- 34:48Speaker 3: Politico they tweeted Elon Musk's salute to Trump supporters is
- 34:51Speaker 3: going viral, as critics on social media compare it to
- 34:54Speaker 3: a victory salute used to excite crowds in Nazi Germany.
- 34:59Speaker 3: Have the media learned nothing? This is part of the
- 35:02Speaker 3: reason Trump won because the Democrats and their siffroicants in
- 35:05Speaker 3: the media kept saying he was a dictator.
- 35:07Speaker 2: He was literally hit literally still.
- 35:10Speaker 1: Got right, like that's right.
- 35:11Speaker 6: And then of course every single person is thinking of
- 35:14Speaker 6: voting for Donald Trump or already voting for Donald Trump
- 35:16Speaker 6: planning to so calling me a Nazi, well, I know
- 35:19Speaker 6: I'm not a Nazi. So if you're saying about him,
- 35:21Speaker 6: you must be lying about him too. That means that
- 35:23Speaker 6: you're a liar, and therefore I'm definitely going to vote him. Insane,
- 35:27Speaker 6: so stupid. But speaking of how stupid it is, right,
- 35:30Speaker 6: let's just okay, so let's just say that they genuinely
- 35:33Speaker 6: believe that Elon Musk decided to go to a rally
- 35:37Speaker 6: and throw a couple of Hyle Hitler's to the crowd. Right,
- 35:42Speaker 6: let's just pretending going to what did they think was
- 35:44Speaker 6: the point of that? Did they think that, oh, look, guys, hey,
- 35:48Speaker 6: we're all neo Nazis, but we just got home in
- 35:50Speaker 6: the election at once, and now I'm coming out strokes
- 35:55Speaker 6: on them because they're all really Nazis. I'll give it
- 35:57Speaker 6: just a little, a little clue, little hint to all
- 36:01Speaker 6: the sort of woke conspiratorialists who think that there is
- 36:04Speaker 6: this sinister evil which is a bit like the crazy
- 36:06Speaker 6: right wingers as well, but that all these people who
- 36:08Speaker 6: think that there is this evil neo Nazi presence in
- 36:12Speaker 6: you know, in Donald Trump or anyone who voted for them,
- 36:15Speaker 6: if there is a secret neo Nazi presence in your organization,
- 36:20Speaker 6: you tend not to announce it to a giant stadium
- 36:23Speaker 6: full of people.
- 36:24Speaker 5: Well, the wo.
- 36:26Speaker 6: The whole point by your secret Nazis' secret.
- 36:30Speaker 5: You don't go off doing.
- 36:31Speaker 4: Your wellies because this would happened to be the most
- 36:36Speaker 4: secretive Nazi of all time. Though, because anyone who knows
- 36:39Speaker 4: anything about Elon he has been so staunchly pro Israel.
- 36:44Speaker 4: He has gone there, he has visited the sites of
- 36:47Speaker 4: the different massacres that occurred on October seventh.
- 36:50Speaker 5: Like, there is no shade to cast on this guy.
- 36:55Speaker 4: It is the stupidest attempt to frame anyone in this
- 36:59Speaker 4: light that I've seen today.
- 37:00Speaker 2: The joke is not the lie.
- 37:01Speaker 3: The joke is that the media think that anyone would
- 37:04Speaker 3: believe them. Before we go to a break, have a
- 37:06Speaker 3: look at this clip of Elon Musk and Donald Trump's
- 37:10Speaker 3: son Baron having a great time at the inauguration, or
- 37:12Speaker 3: at least Musk war was Baron looked pretty serious.
- 37:28Speaker 2: We're going to go to a break.
- 37:29Speaker 6: Every teenager who has dragged along to one of his
- 37:32Speaker 6: dad's work events.
- 37:35Speaker 2: The next four years is going a lot of fun.
- 37:38Speaker 2: We're going to go to a break.
- 37:38Speaker 3: When we come back local news, as we've got what's
- 37:41Speaker 3: making headlines in tomorrow's papers.
- 37:43Speaker 1: That's a.
- 37:47Speaker 3: Welcome back to late debate. Let's take a look at
- 37:49Speaker 3: what's making news in tomorrow's papers. We'll start with my
- 37:52Speaker 3: old stomping ground, Townsville, where the bulletin reports Fight for
- 37:56Speaker 3: the Forgotten Premiere, how can you let car thieves spend
- 38:00Speaker 3: more time behind bars than teen rapists? The article reads,
- 38:04Speaker 3: serial juvenile car thieves could spend more time in prison
- 38:07Speaker 3: than teenagers found guilty of rape after it was left
- 38:10Speaker 3: out of the new government's law reforms. The paper is
- 38:14Speaker 3: calling on Premier David Christofuley's government to make a promise
- 38:16Speaker 3: to Queensland survivors like Townsll's Eb Clayton, who's featured on
- 38:20Speaker 3: the front page, that rape will be treated just as
- 38:23Speaker 3: seriously as car theft under his government's adult crime Adult
- 38:27Speaker 3: Time laws. Now, this is not the first anomaly that's
- 38:30Speaker 3: been pointed out since the LNP came to power boasting
- 38:33Speaker 3: about adult crime Adult time laws that they would institute.
- 38:38Speaker 3: There was a recent example of a teenager who is
- 38:43Speaker 3: alleged to have stabbed a coals worker in the back,
- 38:47Speaker 3: almost killing her, but attempted murder is not covered under
- 38:52Speaker 3: the adult crime Adult Time laws. So there's all of
- 38:55Speaker 3: these anomalies which Joe, I suppose, you know, when you're
- 38:59Speaker 3: leedslating you you can make some mistakes.
- 39:02Speaker 6: Legislating based on where the media cycle and news headlines.
- 39:07Speaker 3: Right, this is the big thing the LNP sold the Queensland.
- 39:11Speaker 3: It's pretty disappointing that they've got anomalies as obvious and
- 39:14Speaker 3: as stupid as this.
- 39:16Speaker 1: We look.
- 39:16Speaker 6: I think clearly they were responding though to public concerns
- 39:19Speaker 6: and they obviously would have been looking at right, what
- 39:21Speaker 6: is the public almost worried about? What we're are the
- 39:24Speaker 6: crimes spiking the most? These are the ones will go
- 39:27Speaker 6: after and then these kind of anomalies have got I'm
- 39:30Speaker 6: sure they'll have no you know, they waste no time
- 39:33Speaker 6: throwing these things into it. I'm pretty sure the message
- 39:35Speaker 6: here is we want less jail time for car thieves.
- 39:38Speaker 6: It is about incorporating all these other crimes into that omnibus.
- 39:43Speaker 4: But the whole thing of adult time, I mean, it's
- 39:46Speaker 4: got a great ring to it, and you wanted to
- 39:47Speaker 4: win an election, I get it. But the overwhelming stats
- 39:52Speaker 4: in the data from Queensland is that magistrates we're not
- 39:55Speaker 4: using the maximum afforded to them by.
- 39:58Speaker 5: The prior set rules.
- 40:01Speaker 4: So if they weren't using anywhere near the maximum that
- 40:05Speaker 4: used to be much much less for the same crimes
- 40:09Speaker 4: as if they're going to be using the maximum time
- 40:12Speaker 4: for adult crime or whatever. Say, it's very very catchy
- 40:19Speaker 4: and they wanted to be seen to do something to
- 40:22Speaker 4: saty eate the obviously and rightful anger of the public
- 40:28Speaker 4: during this.
- 40:28Speaker 2: Youth Why were you arguing for mandatory sentencings.
- 40:31Speaker 5: No, not at all.
- 40:33Speaker 4: I'm simply saying this was a ploy and it's it's
- 40:37Speaker 4: already working out to be well. They're calling out problems
- 40:40Speaker 4: with it, but the main problem with it is that
- 40:43Speaker 4: just because you've set a higher maximum for a crime
- 40:48Speaker 4: that used to have a much lower maximum, if the
- 40:51Speaker 4: magistrates weren't using.
- 40:54Speaker 5: The lower maximum, they're not going to touch the higher.
- 40:58Speaker 4: Maximum that you've made available to them. And I believe
- 41:00Speaker 4: it was the Australian who wrote a brilliant article about that,
- 41:04Speaker 4: with all the statistics in it from Queensland's and the
- 41:07Speaker 4: rulings of the judges, and none of them got anywhere
- 41:11Speaker 4: near the maximums that they.
- 41:13Speaker 5: Were already afforded. So this was always a ploy to
- 41:16Speaker 5: get them into government.
- 41:18Speaker 4: It worked very powerfully, I'm sure, but like a lot
- 41:21Speaker 4: of policies, like a lot of legislation.
- 41:24Speaker 5: People, it is not as it appears.
- 41:27Speaker 6: Also a little trick they actually picked up from a
- 41:29Speaker 6: former New South Wales many many years ago, a former
- 41:32Speaker 6: New South Wales labor government that used to every time
- 41:34Speaker 6: the opposition called for higher minimum sentences, they'd say, oh,
- 41:38Speaker 6: even higher maximum sentences. But speaking of adult time, I
- 41:42Speaker 6: do just have to pay tribute to my favorite adult
- 41:46Speaker 6: who just time and time and time again, he just
- 41:50Speaker 6: will not go away. This man is a stayer. It is,
- 41:53Speaker 6: of course the former mayor. I can't even tell whether
- 41:58Speaker 6: he's the mayor or not.
- 41:59Speaker 1: He's that's right.
- 42:03Speaker 4: I cannot time before old mate was not suspended on
- 42:08Speaker 4: full pay.
- 42:08Speaker 6: Could I just say you get more time for being
- 42:12Speaker 6: a juvenile car thief than his former man gets being
- 42:17Speaker 6: suspended on full pack. I'm just going to read it
- 42:19Speaker 6: out because I can't. I can't get my head out up,
- 42:21Speaker 6: but I just love it. Suspended mayor is still damaging city,
- 42:25Speaker 6: reads the headline. The chief executive Townsville City Council has
- 42:28Speaker 6: labeled endless social media rants from suspended Mayor Troy Thompson
- 42:35Speaker 6: as damaging, quote unquote, saying staff's well.
- 42:38Speaker 1: Being is at risk, so he's on the tweets. He's
- 42:41Speaker 1: gotten on. He's got all this hand so what is
- 42:43Speaker 1: he doing. He's on the tweets, he's on the facebooks.
- 42:47Speaker 3: He's been running online polls about whether or not the
- 42:49Speaker 3: council should be disbanded in his absence, whether or not
- 42:52Speaker 3: the towns Will bulletin should be ordered to stop printing
- 42:54Speaker 3: because they keep featuring him on the front page.
- 42:59Speaker 2: You love it.
- 43:00Speaker 1: It's like the Townshire Building and I just love them.
- 43:02Speaker 1: Good on.
- 43:02Speaker 6: You do not change a thing, but as the Towns
- 43:04Speaker 6: of Building just has this guy's face on their blank
- 43:08Speaker 6: template of every front page.
- 43:10Speaker 1: All right, guys, obviously obviously the former mayor's.
- 43:14Speaker 5: Day every day.
- 43:17Speaker 1: What's the next story anyway?
- 43:18Speaker 4: Okay, enough of Troy Thompson. Moving on now to the
- 43:21Speaker 4: Australian Boulder.
- 43:25Speaker 5: That's the wrong headline.
- 43:27Speaker 4: Alps work around to cope with a new political climate.
- 43:31Speaker 5: Get this.
- 43:32Speaker 4: They can't hack Trump being in office. It appears they're like, no,
- 43:36Speaker 4: it can't work with that guy, So this is their plan.
- 43:39Speaker 4: The Albanese government has raised the prospect of working directly
- 43:43Speaker 4: with Democrat controlled states in the US on climate change
- 43:48Speaker 4: initiatives after Donald Trump signed an executive order to pull
- 43:52Speaker 4: out of the Paris Agreement while vowing to unwine.
- 43:55Speaker 5: Support for low carbon industries. So these fly to have gone, well,
- 44:02Speaker 5: we'll just work with our friends. Then the Blue team,
- 44:06Speaker 5: the Democrats, we are just what are you going to do?
- 44:09Speaker 5: Get on the line to the governors and be like, hey,
- 44:12Speaker 5: we're stoolmates. Yeah, you guys are.
- 44:14Speaker 1: Still on board. Are you a safe city?
- 44:17Speaker 5: Are you a sanctuary city? Are you over run by
- 44:20Speaker 5: illegal aliens?
- 44:22Speaker 2: I don't understand.
- 44:23Speaker 3: Government are pains to say we're going to have a
- 44:26Speaker 3: wonderful relationship with the Trump administration. We're going to get
- 44:29Speaker 3: on famously. And now they're publicizing that. What we're actually
- 44:32Speaker 3: going to do is go around Donald Trump.
- 44:34Speaker 6: To like me saying to my wife, We're going to
- 44:36Speaker 6: have a great relationship.
- 44:37Speaker 1: I'm just going to shag this other chick behind your back.
- 44:40Speaker 1: Is that okay? But we can see we're still going
- 44:41Speaker 1: to have We're going to be perfect, it's going to
- 44:43Speaker 1: be great. Look you know, okay, we're still trying to
- 44:50Speaker 1: get Congressman was asked.
- 44:55Speaker 6: If he'd been telling Joe Biden, you know what to do,
- 44:58Speaker 6: and you know that he would be pardoning anyone and
- 45:01Speaker 6: blah blah, Yeah, and so it says, Look, I publicly
- 45:04Speaker 6: and privately try to say all these things, and you know,
- 45:09Speaker 6: but yeah, I'm not sure if that's the best message
- 45:11Speaker 6: to be sending, right about it.
- 45:13Speaker 2: I'll tell you what, how much do you reckon?
- 45:14Speaker 3: Pennywong and Kevin Rudd would have enjoyed the inauguration today.
- 45:18Speaker 3: Sitting there Biden, Clinton, Harris looked incredibly uncomfortable. Sadly the
- 45:23Speaker 3: camera never panned around too, because they're probably up the back,
- 45:26Speaker 3: Pennywong and.
- 45:28Speaker 2: True Kevin Rudd. But I would have loved to have
- 45:30Speaker 2: seen the looks on their face.
- 45:31Speaker 5: They were not given seats of honor, and no ousta.
- 45:34Speaker 2: All of his policies. We're going to go to a
- 45:35Speaker 2: break when we come back.
- 45:36Speaker 3: Not everything when according to Plant at the inauguration will
- 45:39Speaker 3: show you one thing that did not. And of course
- 45:41Speaker 3: there was the African American preacher who almost stole the show.
- 45:44Speaker 3: That's coming up from sim Well, we thought we'd finish
- 45:49Speaker 3: the program by highlighting some of our favorite moments from
- 45:52Speaker 3: the inauguration.
- 45:53Speaker 2: Liz will let you kick it off. What did you like,
- 45:55Speaker 2: Oh my.
- 45:55Speaker 4: Gosh, Millennia Trump's outfit. Okay, can we have a minute
- 46:00Speaker 4: for this get up. She is the this is iconic,
- 46:05Speaker 4: ladies and gentlemen. I'm like Jackie Kennedy, who this Eastern
- 46:11Speaker 4: European woman, Millennia Trump just blasted every first lady out
- 46:15Speaker 4: of the water in terms of style and grace.
- 46:19Speaker 5: I just I want to be her best friend so bad.
- 46:23Speaker 4: I entertained myself the entire inauguration ceremony just thinking through
- 46:28Speaker 4: what her commentary would be as an Eastern European because
- 46:32Speaker 4: she is based. Every time she opens her mouth, You're like,
- 46:36Speaker 4: I see where Trump gets it from.
- 46:38Speaker 6: And do you see how you see how he kissed
- 46:41Speaker 6: her so carefully. That hat, it looks like the hat
- 46:43Speaker 6: that the.
- 46:46Speaker 1: Would throw and it would lop someone's head off. What
- 46:52Speaker 1: did you like, Joe?
- 46:53Speaker 2: What was your favor?
- 46:54Speaker 1: I like, look, I like I love a.
- 46:55Speaker 6: Bit of a cappella and I'm a very musical. You
- 46:57Speaker 6: would have heard me singing backstage break during break so
- 47:01Speaker 6: I loved Carry Underwood's impromptu a cappella rendition of the
- 47:06Speaker 6: Star Spangled Banner.
- 47:07Speaker 1: And anyone who's in any doubt that there is a.
- 47:10Speaker 6: Deep state conspiracy within Washington trying to sabotage the Trump
- 47:14Speaker 6: presidency can be absolutely assured that they did, and they
- 47:18Speaker 6: started on Inauguration Day when they cut the wires to
- 47:21Speaker 6: the karaoke machine.
- 47:22Speaker 1: Have a listen.
- 47:30Speaker 11: If you know the words help me out you.
- 47:33Speaker 8: Oh force space scyes for a Booieve.
- 47:47Speaker 1: Look, the Skies line didn't land quite right.
- 47:50Speaker 6: I've got to say a little bit flat. But I
- 47:52Speaker 6: pulled it together after that, so you know, I'd give
- 47:54Speaker 6: her a eight point five.
- 47:57Speaker 3: Wowel, this is her big moment, right the entire world
- 48:02Speaker 3: is watching. Every singer's nightmare is the music track doesn't work,
- 48:06Speaker 3: and yet she kept her showbiz smile and just carried
- 48:09Speaker 3: on better than Meatlafe, very well done, a lot better
- 48:12Speaker 3: than Meatlafe. At the AFL Grand Final, my favorite mode
- 48:15Speaker 3: was when the three ministers or religious figures got up
- 48:18Speaker 3: to give their prayer. There was a Jewish rabbi, there
- 48:21Speaker 3: was a sort of a mainline more traditional preacher. But
- 48:24Speaker 3: the guy who stole the show. If you've ever been
- 48:26Speaker 3: to an African American church, you knew this.
- 48:28Speaker 2: Was going to happen.
- 48:29Speaker 3: Reverend Lorenzo Saul from the one eighty Church in Detroit.
- 48:33Speaker 3: He absolutely went wild with his prayer.
- 48:37Speaker 11: Have a look, America is called to be a great nation.
- 48:43Speaker 11: We believe that you will make this come true. So
- 48:46Speaker 11: let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire.
- 48:52Speaker 11: Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York.
- 48:58Speaker 5: Let freedom ring.
- 49:00Speaker 3: I just love a preacher who manages to get a
- 49:02Speaker 3: flex in the middle of his praying to God.
- 49:05Speaker 2: But look at my guns.
- 49:06Speaker 4: This guy was I think one of six people who
- 49:10Speaker 4: got up and prayed for me.
- 49:11Speaker 1: He was the least.
- 49:12Speaker 5: Inspiring because he was just so animated.
- 49:20Speaker 4: I didn't believe They pulled out Franklin Graham and I
- 49:24Speaker 4: was like, he's still alive.
- 49:26Speaker 3: You've gotta go then, So we've got time for stick around.
- 49:29Speaker 3: Coming up is the Rena Penny Show.
- 49:30Speaker 2: Good Night,
