- 0:05Welcome to three guys 6 balls NFL podcast.
- 0:08Welcome to episode 35 of three guys 6 balls NFL podcast.
- 0:11I'm your host Joel and joining me as always is my Co host Will
- 0:16Not. Joining us as always is our Co
- 0:18host Avery who is still in Vegas after our Vegas trip this last
- 0:22weekend. We went to the Jaguars and
- 0:25Raiders game and I had a lot of fun.
- 0:27How about you Will? Oh, it was a blast, absolute
- 0:30blast. I mean, it's always going to be
- 0:32when you're in Vegas hanging out with the boys.
- 0:36I'm in the OG boys, right? We've known each other for what,
- 0:3925 years now? I think this is our first big
- 0:41trip together, just the just the three of us.
- 0:44Now I realize Avery was down there with his girlfriend and
- 0:48some of his other friends, but but still we hung out.
- 0:52I mean it was all day Sunday. I mean we picked him up at what
- 0:5510 in the morning and then dropped him off at at like 9:30
- 0:59at night or something like that. At least it felt like it.
- 1:01If not we were hanging all day. Good day to on the strip.
- 1:05Good day with at the game. Good day at the strip again,
- 1:08just fun. Just a fun, fun day.
- 1:11Great time. I first time in Vegas.
- 1:13I absolutely loved it. Want definitely want to go back.
- 1:17Yeah, that was the best trip we've had since Boy Scouts.
- 1:21Oh yeah, can't Merryweather, Right.
- 1:23We were all like, can't Merryweather.
- 1:25Yeah, we were all deep. Cut I I was not there for that.
- 1:29Lost up everybody, Just everybody.
- 1:31Just as if I was there. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:34Everyone thinks I was there because of course I was.
- 1:37I was not. All right, well, well, let's get
- 1:42this show started. So the NFL trade deadline has
- 1:45come and gone. And so today we're going to be
- 1:47grading some of the trades. We're not going to do all of
- 1:49them because there's a lot of smaller ones that nobody really
- 1:51cares about, but we're going to do some of the bigger trades
- 1:54that happened throughout the NFL.
- 1:56But to get us started, we'll go ahead and give us your Week 9
- 2:00recap. Week 9, Week 9 started down in
- 2:05Miami, Ravens at Dolphins. Lamar Pine is showing his first
- 2:09week back down there in Miami, proving the Ravens are going to
- 2:13be a different team for the second-half of this season.
- 2:15And the Dolphins? Not good.
- 2:17I'm shocked they weren't more. They weren't bigger sellers
- 2:20today. Yeah, me too. 49ers at Giants
- 2:23CMC is an absolute animal. It does not matter what team he
- 2:26plays for, he is the team and and every single week, I said
- 2:30last week, I said the week before, every single week, Matt
- 2:33Jones is making this question if they're going to put Brock Purdy
- 2:35back in the lineup. Remember, this is the same
- 2:38coaching staff that put in Brock Purdy over Trey Lance.
- 2:43They traded the farm for Trey Lance.
- 2:45So what you know what, Mr. Mr. Irrelevant last pick in the
- 2:49draft, we're going to go with that guy instead.
- 2:51So they have no problem benching their quote UN quote good
- 2:55players for the best guy available.
- 2:58So Trey Lance was not. Good.
- 3:00No, he wasn't. This may end up being like we're
- 3:03seeing in Arizona right now, a soft benching, they're calling
- 3:06it, where maybe this brought pretty injury.
- 3:09Just kind of keeps lingering and lingering and lingering, and now
- 3:12all of a sudden the season's over and they had to figure out
- 3:14what to do. So we'll see what happens there.
- 3:18We had Chargers at Titans. I did not realize this until
- 3:20this week. Chargers and Titans, same exact
- 3:24team, different luck. The Chargers win another one
- 3:27score game that on paper they should have been absolute
- 3:29blowout. I truly hope these Chargers fans
- 3:32are doing OK because if I was a fan of this team I would not be.
- 3:35This team does not look good, but their record says otherwise
- 3:38was that I am just absolutely torn down the middle.
- 3:42Then we had Vikings at Lyons, J McCarthy was in the Detroit and
- 3:46wins a big one. But before we crown JJA good
- 3:49quarterback. OK, let's come on pause.
- 3:51His receivers did a really good job of getting open.
- 3:54And I mean like high school and college open, not NFL open.
- 3:57And those are different things. Kevin O'Connor did a good job at
- 4:00the game plan for this game and that Vikings defense did an
- 4:04amazing job shutting down the Lions had it not been for a
- 4:08fumble. And he was fairly late in the
- 4:10game. And I've been for that fumble
- 4:12there where the Vikings get the ball inside their own 30.
- 4:15I think this is a different game, but you know, that's the
- 4:16way it goes. Falcons at Pat's, you never know
- 4:19what you're going to get to the Falcons.
- 4:20They get blown out or they they get blown out by 30 to the
- 4:24Panthers and they beat the Bills by 10.
- 4:26You surely never know. I don't fault the Patriots for
- 4:29this is all. The Falcons are better than
- 4:31their record says. Drake London has three ties but
- 4:34three touchdowns. Excuse me, Drake 100 * 3.
- 4:37Drake London has three touchdowns, but it doesn't even
- 4:39matter because you still have to make the extra point after all
- 4:41three of them. Colts at Steelers, Colts turn
- 4:44the ball over six times and still only managed to lose by 1
- 4:48score. Not a great sign for the
- 4:50Steelers, but the winners win. They'll take it and they're
- 4:52going to need it because the second-half of their schedule is
- 4:54not looking great for them. Broncos at Texans Well, let's
- 4:58hit the game winner down in Houston this Broncos.
- 5:02But this is Broncos team really, really good.
- 5:04Or they just playing down to their opponent, CJ Stroud.
- 5:08I got a concussion early in the 2nd and they still had to have a
- 5:11last second field goal to win this game at his Broncos team to
- 5:14kind of feel like a fraud more and more each week.
- 5:17It's kind of the game of the week, which should have been on
- 5:19paper terrible. Bears at Bengals here.
- 5:23I don't know what sales say besides this Bengals, besides
- 5:26what the Bengals offense is saying.
- 5:28Just get one stop. That's all they need to just get
- 5:30one stop. So if I could put him just put
- 5:33them up by by points and they were up by 4, I think 3,
- 5:38whatever it was, they were up by three with like 2 minutes, less
- 5:41than two minutes to go and they still couldn't do it.
- 5:44Joe Flacco is ninth this year in yards and passing yards.
- 5:49He's playing way too good for how old he is and for this
- 5:53defense to be letting them down to where they are.
- 5:55Just just wrap up. I mean, this is, this is like
- 6:004th grade football level stuff. I, I referee 4th graders and
- 6:04their coaches are yelling from the sideline.
- 6:05Just wrap up, quick shoulder tackling.
- 6:08And you see in the last meaningful play of that game,
- 6:11when Colston Loveland just bounces off, the two guys just
- 6:14run into him with his shoulder. Just just put your arms around
- 6:17him and just fall down now, not hip drop, not that, but just
- 6:20just wrap up. And yeah, I don't know.
- 6:22I'm, I'm mad about it. They didn't.
- 6:23Even they didn't even try to like trip him, like they didn't
- 6:27even try to like reach their hand out and.
- 6:29Like, no, they just ran into his midsection with their shoulders
- 6:32and he all of the every single player in the NFL, including
- 6:35alignment, are too good at athletes and have too much
- 6:39athleticism. So if you run into them with
- 6:42your shoulders at the hips or above, they're not just going to
- 6:46fall down unless they don't see the hit coming or they're not
- 6:49braced for it. These guys have too much
- 6:51athleticism just to fall down like that.
- 6:53You have got to do something else anyway.
- 6:57Bears win. Oh, it's all that matters.
- 7:00Panthers at Packers. Packers go excuse me, Panthers
- 7:03go in the Lambo and win the football.
- 7:04Overwatchers the the football College.
- 7:06Everyone recall them are being very consistent this season.
- 7:09If you wear a bad uniform, you will lose.
- 7:11If you pick a good throwback, you will win.
- 7:14That has been consistent all season long.
- 7:17Panthers I I guess they're OK. Who knows, maybe the Packers
- 7:22aren't as good as we all think. Saints at Rams, Staffords throws
- 7:26for four tides, Rams win shut. A really rough draw for his
- 7:30first NFL start, but that's the way it goes sometimes.
- 7:33Raiders at Jags, as mentioned, we were at this game.
- 7:36This would have been the Milktoast game of the week.
- 7:38But then the fourth quarter and overtime happened.
- 7:41Brock Bowers had three, eight touch, three touchdowns, just
- 7:44like Drake Horn did. An NFL record was set.
- 7:46It was the kicking record 68 yard field goal by by Cam Middle
- 7:51which I was all right this time. Pull the curtain back.
- 7:56We were at the game when this record was set.
- 8:00I was at the urinal midstream when this happened.
- 8:04Holding Will's pizza. Now that is not a euphemism.
- 8:08He actually was waiting outside the bathroom holding my pizza
- 8:11for me. We were going to do a whole swap
- 8:13seat. I was standing shoulder to
- 8:15shoulder to Avery. We were both midstream.
- 8:17We hear. We hear over the the speaker in
- 8:20the bathroom. He hits the 68 yard Fugo and I
- 8:23go, oh, well, I guess this would be my memory forever.
- 8:26So that anyway, this game goes into overtime, takes all 10
- 8:30minutes of overtime. I do love the call to go for it
- 8:33with 16 seconds left in overtime, go for two.
- 8:35This is Vegas. We're going to gamble on it.
- 8:37That's just the way it works down there.
- 8:39That's the way it should work everywhere, right?
- 8:40We don't want any more ties. We don't need any more ties in
- 8:43the NFL. Let's just let's just end it.
- 8:46We can we win or we lose. My team is better than your
- 8:49team. We are not equal here.
- 8:51That's that's what's going on and we got Chiefs at Bills,
- 8:54Bills a big win over the Chiefs in the regular season, which
- 8:56people are saying is a bad thing.
- 8:57We of course they win. It's the regular season.
- 8:59OK, but it's better than losing that game.
- 9:02And then also they're wanting to play off.
- 9:03So you should get one win out of it.
- 9:05The Holmes gets hit a lot in this game, like like a good
- 9:10amount. There was a couple heads.
- 9:11I'm like, oh, there's no way that that wasn't a flag.
- 9:13And I haven't gone back through to see if all of them were
- 9:16flagged. But he got hit a lot.
- 9:18Still over 700. The total offense from both
- 9:20teams combined. 1 lone turnover late in the game, late in the
- 9:23fourth. There's a big difference.
- 9:25Mahomes threw 1/3 and 10 deep ball and it being picked and
- 9:27people are calling it an arm punt and Oh yeah, it was third
- 9:30and 10. You just threw it up.
- 9:31You have a third and 10 when you're down by 7.
- 9:34So 1 score game. You had to get your 10 and keep
- 9:36moving because it was it was just over 4 minutes left in the
- 9:38game. That was, it was a big crucial
- 9:40turnover right there. We got Seahawks at Commander Sam
- 9:44Donald put on that clinic in the first half and then in the
- 9:47second-half. Seattle team's looking real good
- 9:49right now. They have a tough schedule to
- 9:51finish it up, but they're built all around it, built pretty well
- 9:54all around to finish it out. And hold on, we'll get here in a
- 10:00second. I'm not not missing Jayden
- 10:02Daniels. We'll get down just a second at
- 10:03Cowboys, at our Cardinals, at Cowboys.
- 10:06I'm not sure if Marvin Harrison junior finally remember how to
- 10:08play football from his college days or the Dallas secondary is
- 10:11just that bad. Jacoby percent looks like an
- 10:14absolute All Star out there. But to be fair, so did that.
- 10:17That looked really good. That defense is just absolutely
- 10:20abysmal. And and truly, I mean, there was
- 10:26a lot of injuries. Joel, Joel and I Monday morning
- 10:29in Vegas were watching the the Pat McAfee Show and they were
- 10:31going over all the injuries that happened this weekend.
- 10:34There was a lot of injuries this weekend and some major injuries
- 10:38and I, I, I feel bad for him. Jane Daniels, Joe Alt, I didn't
- 10:43even remember them all, but there was some key, key injuries
- 10:45to a lot of big teams. And those are going to be huge
- 10:48difference makers when you come down the line like Washington.
- 10:51I'm not saying they're out of it, but when your starting
- 10:53quarterback goes down and now you're left with Marcus Mariela,
- 10:55who's been a perennial backup. He's great overall, but he's not
- 10:59the guy you that took your team to the NFC championship last
- 11:01year. He's not that guy.
- 11:03And then same thing with the Texans.
- 11:06What's his bucket? CJ Strav gets that concussion on
- 11:09a totally legal hit. Mind you, they threw the flag,
- 11:12They picked it up in review. That was a completely legal hit.
- 11:14He slid late. The defender was already in
- 11:16motion, shoulder padded across the chest.
- 11:18I don't want to hear about it. Completely legal hit.
- 11:22His head just hit the turf real hard and he goes out and it's
- 11:25concussion protocol. And so he'll probably be out for
- 11:27next week, if not 2. I mean, he will be out for next
- 11:30week, if not two weeks. Just a lot of big injuries in
- 11:32the NFL this week that contributed to a lot of a lot
- 11:35closer games. If you if you think back to two
- 11:36weeks ago out of blowouts and then this week a lot of close
- 11:39games. So, good week in the NFL overall
- 11:42good, good week. All right, yeah, I agree.
- 11:46And I just got to say, when we're at the Jags and Raiders
- 11:49game, I thought the game was going to be just terrible, not
- 11:53going into it, but like at half time it was 6 to 3.
- 11:56Yeah. And then it ended up being a 29
- 11:59to 30 game. The Raiders go for two and they
- 12:03lose on a pass that just hits the hits the ground.
- 12:07So I it ended up being just a great game in the second-half
- 12:12after the first half just looked like it was just going to be a
- 12:15dud. But it ended up being really
- 12:17good. So I'm glad we went.
- 12:18I had a lot of fun. But yeah, I would also.
- 12:21I'd also like to add real quick before we move on from that,
- 12:24with the Raiders not having the season that maybe they hope this
- 12:26year, I was a little concerned with, hey, how's the environment
- 12:30going to be in the stadium? Are we going to be loud or we're
- 12:32going to be involved? Having no rooting interest in
- 12:36either team? I was like, how?
- 12:37How is the vibe going to be in this stadium?
- 12:40Offense gets announced. So if you don't know, NFLNFL
- 12:44games are sometimes one game. The offense can announced in the
- 12:47defense in the special teams. They don't do the entire
- 12:50starting roster every single week like you see on TV.
- 12:53So they don't do the starting offense.
- 12:54When the offense is out there, there's any events.
- 12:56That's ATV thing. That's not the way the stadium
- 12:58goes. So the offense got announced
- 13:00this week, which would have been cool if the defense did have
- 13:01been great to hear Max Crosby come out.
- 13:03But Gino Smith got announced last and when Gino got announced
- 13:08and he ran out, the whole stadium was booing him.
- 13:11It was loud booing. I even mentioned it to Joe
- 13:15Neighbors. Oh, I wonder if Gino gets booed
- 13:16here. And then lo and behold, he got
- 13:19booed loud. And that's when it started
- 13:21before opening kickoff. And the vibes in that stadium,
- 13:25the fandom that that Las Vegas has was really good.
- 13:30It was a really good place to be.
- 13:32The vibes were great. The fans were involved, some
- 13:37ignorant, but that's just the way fandom is going to go no
- 13:39matter what stadium you're in. And I just, I hey, shout out Las
- 13:43Vegas. You are a town of transients.
- 13:45People are there and they happen to see a game because they're
- 13:49already there or they're going there just like us, just to see
- 13:51the game. Not a lot of people, our
- 13:53lifelong Vegas residence. And so you're going to have all
- 13:58the in and out fans, but but those that were there, they let
- 14:02everybody know they were there. It was a good time, real good
- 14:05time. It was, it was.
- 14:08And since we're talking about the Jaguars and the Raiders, we
- 14:12might as well just get started with the with the trade that the
- 14:15Jaguars and Raiders made, they must have just, you know, stayed
- 14:18after the game and just been like, look, we want this guy, so
- 14:21let's make it happen. I mean, he for sure gets on the
- 14:24team playing and goes home with him.
- 14:26Yeah, might as. Well.
- 14:29Might as well. But anyways, first one.
- 14:31That was the first one this morning, yeah.
- 14:34I think there was 1 before. That.
- 14:36Well, the first big name I guess.
- 14:37Maybe. Maybe I don't remember the
- 14:40order, but we'll we'll get started with this trade.
- 14:42So the Jaguars and Raiders made a trade.
- 14:45So the Jaguars get wide receiver Jacoby Myers and the Raiders get
- 14:48a fourth and a sixth round pick. So will what would you grade
- 14:53these two teams on this trade? I like this trade for both
- 14:56teams. I witnessed it right.
- 14:59They're not using Jacoby Myers the way that he could be used.
- 15:02I witnessed it in person in that game.
- 15:04Will actually said, oh, no, it was Avery.
- 15:07It was Avery. Avery during that game, he was
- 15:09like, do the Raiders even have any receivers at all?
- 15:11Like they're just throwing through the tight ends.
- 15:13That's it. It was it was two or three
- 15:15different tight ends and action Genti and that was it.
- 15:18That was it, which is pretty, which is pretty on brand for
- 15:21Pete Carroll, which Seahawks fans will come at me for that,
- 15:23But I don't really care. He's a big he's a big running
- 15:25back and and tight end guy. And so I like this trade for
- 15:29Bolton's. Obviously the the Raiders are in
- 15:32rebuilding. I don't think they're scrapping
- 15:34the whole thing because if they were, they did fire be careful
- 15:36already, But I, I think they're in rebuild and so getting draft
- 15:39picks in. I give this one probably AB,
- 15:44maybe AB minus all around. Because it's not you're not if
- 15:48you're the Jaguars, you're not getting anything major right.
- 15:51You're getting a filler piece. Travis Hunter, he went over IR.
- 15:55Brian Thomas apparently has a high ankle sprain or low grade
- 15:58lower ankle sprain. I don't know which way.
- 16:01It's a low grade ankle sprain with a tire low, I don't
- 16:03remember. And so he's going to be hindered
- 16:07if nothing else for a while. And so you bring an extra help.
- 16:10It's a guy who's had at least 700 yards in all of his seasons,
- 16:14at least 700 yards and all, all of his seasons there.
- 16:17So he's a, he's a proven veteran.
- 16:19He's a he's a role player. He's not going to be your your
- 16:22absolute starter, but you should help take some pressure off of
- 16:261. Trevor Lawrence and two, Byron
- 16:28Thomas junior so And maybe this means that they can commit
- 16:32Travis Hunter to the defense a bit more rather than having him
- 16:35play so much offense. So I was actually going to ask
- 16:37you. So I actually have the same
- 16:38thoughts I was going to ask. Like, do you think that the
- 16:41Jaguars trading for Jacoby Myers let's the Jaguars play Travis
- 16:45Hunter on the defensive side more?
- 16:47I do, I think it, I think you add maybe not an equivalent
- 16:51skill wise. I think I think Travis Hunter
- 16:54may be a better athlete than Jacoby Myers, but Jacoby Myers
- 16:58is a more refined wide receiver than Travis Hunter.
- 17:02And so, so I think you had a bit more skill and that was or in
- 17:06that sense. And so I, I think we will see
- 17:09less Travis Hunter because it's already happening.
- 17:12He's all right. He's on IR right now, which
- 17:13means it's at least four weeks. And so if you're getting hurt in
- 17:17your first season and you're playing both sides of the ball,
- 17:20we're going to go ahead and pick because you're getting worn
- 17:22down. Your body is going to get
- 17:23degraded way too soon, deteriorated, degraded as
- 17:27something different. My bad, everybody.
- 17:30Same. Thing body degrading full
- 17:32different topic anyway, but his body's deteriorating already and
- 17:37it's his first year and so let's let's just have him pick a side.
- 17:41We like him better this corner. I like him better as a corner as
- 17:43well. Feel like good corners are
- 17:45harder to come across. If he's going to be good, which
- 17:47I do believe he's been pretty good at in the secondary, then
- 17:50let's go ahead and just move him over there.
- 17:53Right. And I agree, I, I agree.
- 17:55I think the Jaguars seeing that Travis Hunter is has been hurt
- 18:00and the way that they're using him, I think that they're going
- 18:02to use him more specifically on the defensive side of the ball.
- 18:05And I think getting Jacoby Myers allows them to do that.
- 18:08I think they still will use Travis Hunter on offense, but I
- 18:11think it's going to be more for like a more specific role, like
- 18:15very specific plays on offense. And I think it allows him to
- 18:18just play a more specific role in the secondary and on defense
- 18:23and allows him to get better at that that position rather than
- 18:27just, you know, doing 50% of time here and 50% of time there.
- 18:30So I think having Jacoby Myers just gives them a more
- 18:33consistent option that they can use on offense and allow Travis
- 18:37Hunter to specialize in one thing rather than doing both,
- 18:41even though I know he wants to do both.
- 18:43And I think they still will use them at both, but just a little
- 18:46bit less on offense and more on defense.
- 18:49So for this trade, I give both sides ABI think the Jaguars.
- 18:53It's a it's a solid move. It's a solid move.
- 18:55It doesn't do anything to make me think that the Jaguars are
- 18:58going to be contenders. I still don't think they're
- 19:00contenders, but it's a solid move overall.
- 19:03And and really the biggest reason I say it's a solid move
- 19:05is because Jacoby Myers is 1. He's a solid player.
- 19:07And two, what we just talked about with Travis Hunter, it
- 19:10allows him to be in a more specialized position rather than
- 19:14splitting time here and there for the Raiders.
- 19:16I think it's a solid B because Jacoby Myers was not going to be
- 19:20there next season anyway and they just needed to trade him to
- 19:23get something back. And so, you know, he already
- 19:27requested a trade. He's on the last year of his
- 19:29deal. He's not going to be there next
- 19:30season. So you just trade the guy
- 19:32because you're already in a losing situation.
- 19:34You're not going to be in the playoffs, you're not going to
- 19:35win anything. And so you just get something
- 19:37back for him. It it wasn't like a, it wasn't
- 19:41like a lot of compensation, but it's a fourth and a sixth round
- 19:44pick. So you got something for a guy
- 19:48who's not going to be there and who didn't want to be there.
- 19:50So I think it's a solid trade for both sides.
- 19:54Will, I'm going to Will, I'm going to let you go ahead and
- 19:56pick the next trade we talked about here.
- 19:58We'll just kind of swap. We'll just go.
- 19:59I'll pick one, you pick one. Yeah, let's see what the wide
- 20:02receivers Seattle Seahawks obtained from the New Orleans
- 20:05Saints wide receiver Rashid Shaheed for a fourth round pick
- 20:10this year and a fifth round pick this year.
- 20:13Please, Angel. So for the Seahawks, I'm going
- 20:19to give it an A. And the reason I give it an A
- 20:21for the Seahawks is because you already have JSN, who is
- 20:24unguardable. This year.
- 20:26Nobody has been able to guard JSN, and they do have some other
- 20:29really nice weapons. Sam Donald is just balling.
- 20:32He's getting the ball to everybody on that field.
- 20:34He's getting the ball to guys that we've never heard of
- 20:36before, but now you have a legitimate deep threat in that
- 20:41offense, a guy who runs A43 fourty, a guy who is known as a
- 20:44big play guy, and he comes into this offense and it's only going
- 20:48to help Sam Darnold. It's only going to help JSNII.
- 20:53Really, really like this move for the Seahawks.
- 20:55I think they maybe gave up a little bit too much, maybe just
- 21:01a little bit too much, which is why I didn't give it an A plus.
- 21:03I still love the move though, because the Saints got more for
- 21:07Shaheed than the Raiders got for Jacoby Myers.
- 21:10So the Seahawks gave up more. But I feel like with what they
- 21:15already have on their offense and what they needed in that
- 21:18offense, this is a a perfect move for the Seattle Seahawks
- 21:22and for the Saints. I think it's a ABI give it ABI
- 21:26mean the Saints are bad. They're going to be bad.
- 21:29You know, the reason I, I give it a, a solid B is because four
- 21:34years ago when Shahid came into the league, he was undrafted.
- 21:37So just four years ago, the Saints spent literally nothing
- 21:40on this guy as far as draft capital to get him on their
- 21:43team. They developed him and now
- 21:45they're getting picks back for him.
- 21:48So it's four years later, but you're getting compensation that
- 21:51you didn't originally spend on this guy.
- 21:53So I think it's a solid trade. The Saints weren't going
- 21:56anywhere. I, I don't think he didn't want
- 21:58to be there, but I think it's a, you know, you might as well, if
- 22:02somebody's looking for him and you can get something that's
- 22:04going to help you build your team in the future, you might as
- 22:06well do it right. It's not like he's a superstar.
- 22:09He's not a superstar by any means.
- 22:10You didn't trade away a superstar.
- 22:12He's just a solid guy who can be a deep threat.
- 22:15And that's what the Seahawks are getting.
- 22:16They're getting a deep threat who's going to open things up
- 22:19even more for JSN, which is crazy because he's just always
- 22:23open, it seems like. And so I actually, I really love
- 22:26the trade for the Seattle Seahawks.
- 22:27They're looking scary right now. I don't.
- 22:32I don't want to say this because I absolutely hate, I hate this,
- 22:36but the Seahawks could actually be the best team in the NFC
- 22:39right now. Well, top two, number two.
- 22:47The Seahawks are scary, man. They're scary, right?
- 22:49Now, yeah, they're like I said, they're very good.
- 22:52They are. They are very well built.
- 22:54They're very well coached. MacDonald is it?
- 22:58It's not Mike. What is that McDonald?
- 23:00Yeah, OK, this is Mike. Yeah.
- 23:02Their coach has come in and he has proved himself to be his own
- 23:05coach. And so I I think the Seattle
- 23:08Seahawks are, they're well coached all around and they've
- 23:11got a good team. I don't want to say wonderful
- 23:13because I don't like the Seahawks.
- 23:15It's a personal thing, but they're very good.
- 23:19It doesn't honestly, it doesn't really like pain me to say that.
- 23:21Truly. They are like it's it's
- 23:22inarguable. That team is very good.
- 23:25They offensively and defensively.
- 23:27One thing I like about this trade is that so two weeks where
- 23:30they had to buy week and then this week Cooper Cup still out
- 23:33with a lingering heel and hamstring injury.
- 23:36And so you get a person in who, like you said, is I think this
- 23:41is his fourth year in the league, right?
- 23:44Hers is his fourth, Shaheed. Yeah, this is his fourth.
- 23:46Year, this is fourth year he used to come in, he used to
- 23:48learn under Cooper Cup. Cooper Cups got skills that
- 23:52every single wide receiver in the NFL can learn from.
- 23:55And so it's come in and and even though he's not playing, word
- 23:59from Seattle is that he's been more like a coach and mentor to
- 24:02like the rest of the players. And I think that has a huge
- 24:04benefit as to as to what why they're being so successful.
- 24:08And so you bring another piece. And so when Cooper cups healthy,
- 24:11you to put Cooper in the slot, have him be your your short
- 24:15route guy, maybe your mid route guy, have JSM be your short
- 24:18route guy who's going to break things open and you actually
- 24:20heat downfield as your downfield threat.
- 24:22I like your grades a lot. Pretty, pretty milk toast for
- 24:26the for the Saints, right? The same thing as the Raiders.
- 24:29You're looking to to get rid of somebody who you can live
- 24:32without because you're bad. Anyway, The old is that Matt
- 24:37Nagy with the Bears said that, oh, our defense was bad.
- 24:40We called which, which Khalil Mack should be bad without him.
- 24:43One of those kind of things that yeah, but you know, he's a real
- 24:46good player anyway. And so, so you get a couple
- 24:50pieces in 4th and 5th and, and I, I think a big, a big piece of
- 24:54this, and this will come up later when we talk about the,
- 24:56the sauce garden trade, is that you as the Saints are valuing
- 25:02your player, who you got undrafted against, what you're
- 25:06giving up or what you're getting.
- 25:08So we're giving away 1 undrafted guy for a guy who's supposed to
- 25:13be on paper better. He's a fourth or, and a fifth
- 25:16round pick. And so, and so I, I like that.
- 25:20I, I like it a lot for the Saints, but it's pretty milk
- 25:23toast. I think this gets, this gets
- 25:26probably AB plus for the Seahawks for me, and either AC
- 25:30plus or AB minus for the Saints. It's it's this is.
- 25:33It's nothing. All right, so while we're on the
- 25:35topic of the Seahawks, will I got to ask, is Jackson Smith and
- 25:39Jig with the best receiver in the NFL right now?
- 25:44Because Pook has been hurt off and on throughout the season,
- 25:47it's hard to argue with. I, I don't know if I can make
- 25:49that statement with divinity, but that going through all the
- 25:55stats looking up, I mean, it's hard to argue with though.
- 25:58He came out before the student Sergeant said he wanted to be
- 26:00and he's making a real good case for himself.
- 26:05I think JSN is the number one receiver in the NFL right now.
- 26:10He is to me, he is by far the top receiver in the NFL right
- 26:13now. He is crazy good right now.
- 26:16He is unguardable. He's 5th in receptions.
- 26:18He's first in receiving yards. He's averaging 16.3 yards per
- 26:22catch. He's on pace for over 2000
- 26:24yards. If you compare his season to how
- 26:28good Jamar Chase was last season, you know there's some
- 26:32things where Jamar Chase was better, but overall JSN is
- 26:36crushing it right now. So you look at Jamar Chase.
- 26:38So last year he had seven games with eight plus catches and he
- 26:43had five games with 100 plus receiving yards.
- 26:46Jackson Smith and Jiggles worst game this year is 4 catches for
- 26:4979 yards. He's played eight games.
- 26:52He has six of those where he has 100 plus yards.
- 26:55One of those is for 96 yards and he has 8 plus catches in six of
- 26:59those eight games. That is insane.
- 27:02That's very good, yeah. Very good at at worst.
- 27:06At worst, I think JSN is a top three receiver right now.
- 27:09At worst. I, I, I I think it's safe to say
- 27:13he is best right now. Yeah, the the guy's just playing
- 27:17out of his mind. I mean, Sam Donald and JSN right
- 27:20now, they're a scary combination.
- 27:22It's it's scary. But yeah, I think JSN is the
- 27:25best receiver in the NFL right now.
- 27:27All right, so we'll move on to the next trade.
- 27:30So let's go with some Colts and Jets here.
- 27:34This was a good one. So the Colts traded for
- 27:38cornerback Sauce Gardner and The Jets get a 2026 and a 2027 first
- 27:44round pick, plus wide receiver AD Mitchell.
- 27:48So will what grades would you give the Colts and The Jets in
- 27:51this trade? Man, OK, I think for The Jets,
- 27:58I'm giving this either an A minus or AB plus.
- 28:04OK, I, I, I mean, nobody even had Sash Gardner on the might be
- 28:11traded list to start today. And all of a sudden that news
- 28:14breaks and it's like, Oh my gosh, what?
- 28:17There wasn't even a rumor about it or anything.
- 28:19No, this was very under wraps and then some reports have come
- 28:24out and said that the the Colts and Jets have been working this
- 28:27for a few weeks. So this isn't like a make a
- 28:30phone call today thing. This is a few weeks.
- 28:34Carly Ersay gets on the phone, puts the headset down, says
- 28:36listen, we doing this or not. Now I obviously have no idea
- 28:39which one of the the earth say big three made the deal, but I I
- 28:44like this a lot for both teams. I think I think this is an A
- 28:49probably just a solid a for the for the Colts.
- 28:52They get an extra piece in that in that secondary they are
- 28:55betting on themselves. Chaos is a is a wonderful,
- 28:58wonderful player. He's super, super good.
- 29:01I didn't know the right adjectives to use here.
- 29:04He's great. He's one of the best corners in
- 29:06the game. Like, like he's one of the best
- 29:08corners in the league. And so they are betting that
- 29:11they won't be able to find that quality of player at the end of
- 29:15the first round this year or probably what was most likely to
- 29:18be the end of the first round this year or what they're hoping
- 29:21is the end of the first round next year.
- 29:23Right now they're projecting pick 31 or 32 or something like
- 29:26that with just based on records, I would say it's whoever wins
- 29:29the Super Bowl gets the last pick and runner up and so on and
- 29:31so forth. And so they're thinking that
- 29:33we're going to have pick 30 through 32 right now.
- 29:37And so we're not going to find the guy of this quality and and
- 29:41because we're getting them in here, we're going to be in the
- 29:44same boat next year. We're getting picked 31 or 32.
- 29:47And so I like this pick a lot from the Saints.
- 29:50What the Colts, excuse me, the, The Jets just signed sauce to a
- 29:57four year deal. And so they don't have to worry
- 29:59about that. They just get the whole
- 30:00contract. They're paying them like 700,000
- 30:03for the rest of this year. They're paying them a bag of
- 30:05rocks for the end of this season to come in and go on the Super
- 30:08Bowl run. Now it it will be a financial
- 30:11burden the next couple years. It's like an average of 25.1
- 30:14million over the next three years after this.
- 30:16And so so it's going to be a big hit because you're going to have
- 30:19to pay guys like Daniel Jones needs to get paid.
- 30:22I think John Taylor's contract is up.
- 30:24Like, there's some big pieces they're going to have to get
- 30:26paid in that Colts team. But with what we've seen in the
- 30:28NFL, that just doesn't seem to matter.
- 30:31It seems like there's just money for everyone.
- 30:33Not quite baseball, no salary cap money.
- 30:36But the way these contracts are working out, it's OK.
- 30:38So we're going to pay this guy $7 million this year, but next
- 30:42year he'll get he'll get $30 million.
- 30:44And this other guy, he'll get 30 million this year, but next year
- 30:46he'll get 7. And he's doing this like
- 30:48balancing act where everyone's getting all the money they want
- 30:51and it just seems to be working. I don't know how it works.
- 30:54Obviously I'm not a financial guy.
- 30:56I'm not in the NFL financial world, but it's working for him.
- 31:00I like this pick our earliest trade a lot for for the Saints
- 31:04flip that's twice. I like this pick a lot for the
- 31:08Colts and The Jets. The trade here.
- 31:11I I said pick again, man, I'm doing real good today.
- 31:15I'm just so good at this. I I professional podcast right
- 31:18here, guys. Don't ever forget it.
- 31:20But anyway, what do you think about it?
- 31:22So just going off of the contract thing real quick, I
- 31:26think that I don't think it would be a problem for the Colts
- 31:30moving forward with the contract because I I know that, you know,
- 31:34like Daniel Jones and guys like Jonathan Taylor are going to get
- 31:36paid, But I don't see them. And I could be wrong here, but I
- 31:40don't see them being like, I want to be the highest paid
- 31:43quarterback. I want to be the highest paid
- 31:45running back. Like, I don't see that happening
- 31:47because I feel like they've been losing for so long that when you
- 31:51finally get that taste of success, you want more of it,
- 31:54right? And so if it was me, I would
- 31:57still want to get paid, but I don't think I would go out there
- 32:01and be like, I want to be the highest paid player in my
- 32:03position because I want I want to keep winning.
- 32:07Those players want to keep winning.
- 32:08They don't want to just win for one season.
- 32:10They want to keep winning because none of them have won
- 32:13anywhere. They haven't won anything.
- 32:16It was just a couple years ago that Jonathan Taylor did hold
- 32:18out for the first three or four games of the season for a
- 32:21contract. But but now he's winning.
- 32:25It's different now. It's.
- 32:27Different now and you're only able to do that and this this is
- 32:31a this is a know your work scenario.
- 32:33You're only able to hold out so many times for the whole NFL
- 32:37says we're not touching this guy.
- 32:38Yeah, Jonathan Taylor, very, very good, probably has a maybe
- 32:421-2 more holdouts left in him. But it's not something you want
- 32:45to be consistent about because you get you get like black
- 32:48listeners. Oh, he he's going to get held
- 32:50out or he's going to be a holdout.
- 32:52He's going to fight us for the contract that he wants.
- 32:54And that's not really what these players are trying to do.
- 32:57So anyway, continue. Right.
- 32:59And, and if it was either of those guys, I think it would be
- 33:02Jonathan Taylor, But I, I definitely don't see Daniel
- 33:05Jones being like, I'm going to, I'm going to be the highest rate
- 33:07quarterback in the league. Like I feel like everybody would
- 33:09just be like, no, sorry, we're not doing that.
- 33:11But I don't see him doing that anyway.
- 33:13But I feel like because they're getting a taste of winning and
- 33:15they want more winning. I think that I don't, I don't
- 33:19see that happening. But for the Colts, I give this
- 33:21trade an A+. They knock this out of the park.
- 33:24They are going all in right now. They they're putting all their
- 33:27pieces in this season. This reminds me of when the Rams
- 33:30traded for Jalen Ramsey. And I'm not, I'm not saying the
- 33:33Colts are going to win the Super Bowl, but they're definitely
- 33:35going to have a shot at it, that's for sure.
- 33:37They they're going all in. They're going all in right now.
- 33:39They're trading their picks to get a guy who's going to help
- 33:42them. He's going to be a shutdown
- 33:43corner for that team. And really what I love about
- 33:46this, why I gave it an A+ is because they addressed their
- 33:49biggest need on defense. They're a solid defense overall.
- 33:54They're tied for fourth most sacks.
- 33:55They're 7th in points per game allowed.
- 33:57They're fourth in rushing yards allowed.
- 33:58They're top five in takeaways. They're one weakness.
- 34:01They were 26th in passing yards allowed, 26th and you get a shut
- 34:06down corner now to solve your biggest weakness on defense.
- 34:10So not only are you going all in, but you're going all in by
- 34:13solving a problem for your team. I love this trade for the Colts,
- 34:17absolutely love it for The Jets. I give it AB Plus, their team
- 34:21sucks. They know they're not going
- 34:23anywhere. They just needed to get rid of
- 34:24guys. And if they're going to get rid
- 34:25of guys, get as much as you can back, right?
- 34:29The you know, it's not an A for me because those first rounders
- 34:33are going to be late first round picks.
- 34:36And I just don't, you know, they probably didn't have a whole lot
- 34:38of options because I don't see a team that's, you know, like in
- 34:40the middle tier, like trading for a guy like Sauce Gardner and
- 34:43giving up what they gave up to get him.
- 34:45So they probably didn't have a whole lot of options.
- 34:48But that's the reason why it's not an A.
- 34:49Also, the fact that The Jets, they have all these picks now
- 34:52and they're probably going to fumble it somehow.
- 34:56So that's why I didn't give it an A.
- 34:57It's hard to give The Jets an A at anything because of just,
- 35:01they're The Jets. So I give the solid B Plus,
- 35:05though I think it's a good move for both sides, but the Colts
- 35:08absolutely knocked this trade out of the park.
- 35:10So the Colts also have Kenny Moore.
- 35:13Is that the right guy? I'm thinking of that sounds he's
- 35:15another quarterback. So they've got they've got 2
- 35:18very well paid shutdown corners. I think Kenny Moore has been
- 35:21hurt a little bit this year. And so I I think that that
- 35:24contributes as to why their their past defense has been
- 35:27subpar. But I like this movie a lot for
- 35:30the Colts. It's one of these things that
- 35:31you're going out with and it just kind of needs to pay off
- 35:33before I can fully grade it, right?
- 35:36And these are just. These are just instant
- 35:38reactions. Sure, sure, sure.
- 35:40It's kind of like the draft, like you think that somebody has
- 35:42a good draft, but you have to wait like, you know, three years
- 35:45before you can really know what the what the the grade is.
- 35:49So I will you're next pick. Pick us another trade.
- 35:53Let's stay with The Jets. This is a good one.
- 35:57Yeah, Jets acquire Mozzie Smith. Yeah, that's the end of this
- 36:02deal we want to talk about. Dallas Cowboys acquire Quinn and
- 36:08Williams from the New York Jets for first round draft pick.
- 36:13The highest Dallas pick, which I'm not quite sure what that
- 36:17wording means. Is that either The Jets or
- 36:19either the Packers or Dallas? Trevor one is higher.
- 36:24Is that what that means? I was under the impression that
- 36:27it was Dallas's pick, but it was never very.
- 36:31It was never very specific anywhere that I saw it, so I
- 36:34don't actually know if it's the Packers pick or the Dallas pick.
- 36:38Everything I saw said it was Dallas's pick, but it wasn't
- 36:41very specific so I'm not actually sure.
- 36:44Interesting. Anyway, that's next year's pick.
- 36:46Next year's first round pick and this year's second round pick,
- 36:50as well as Mozzie Smith. So they get Quinn Williams.
- 36:54They trade away a first round pick next year, a second round
- 36:58pick this year and Mozzie Smith to bring in Quinn Williams.
- 37:02Drill initial thoughts and reactions.
- 37:05Let me just let me just get started by saying this.
- 37:07Can we just give a round of applause to Jerry Jones for
- 37:09doing literally anything at the trade deadline?
- 37:12Just as there's a round of applause?
- 37:14Yeah, just literally anything. It has been years.
- 37:18I mean, I'm a bit shocked when he came out and said, well, we
- 37:23got picked now and what's to say we don't trade him right now?
- 37:25And then we went nine weeks and nothing happened.
- 37:28I imagined we were going to go another 10 weeks, season was
- 37:31going to end and nothing was going to happen.
- 37:33Dallas has not often been big buyers.
- 37:38I think that's fair to say at the trade deadline.
- 37:40Often isn't even. Isn't even.
- 37:43Yeah, I'm just, I'm just putting qualifiers on.
- 37:45It's not getting roasted on the Internet.
- 37:48But they're they're often very quiet.
- 37:50That's a trade deadline. And their entire fandom is
- 37:52yelling please do something. We are 8 and eight for the 10th
- 37:56year in a row under Jason Garrett.
- 37:58Please do something. And so obviously that's not the
- 38:02scenario. Now, I understand they have a
- 38:03different coach, different, different everything.
- 38:05Just bear with me. But but here they are making a
- 38:09big move here anyway. Continue.
- 38:12All right, so for the Cowboys, I feel like Cowboys fans are going
- 38:16to really love this trade, but I'm giving this trade AB minus
- 38:19for the Cowboys. And the reason I'm giving this
- 38:21trade AB minus for the Cowboys is because I feel like the
- 38:24Cowboys are just going in circles at this point.
- 38:27You trade away Micah Parsons, who is a generational pass
- 38:30rusher, the best player you have on your team.
- 38:34Some could even say the best defensive player in the league.
- 38:36Some could. You could make that argument.
- 38:38And then you bring in Quinn Williams, who is a very good
- 38:41player. I don't think he's a
- 38:42generational player by any means.
- 38:43He's a very good player. But you originally got in return
- 38:48for Michael Parsons, you got two first round picks.
- 38:51Now you give up a first round pick to get Quinn and Williams.
- 38:55So if you look at it just from a Cowboy's perspective, just
- 38:59without the other teams involved, just from a Cowboy's
- 39:01perspective, here's what Dallas gets and what Dallas loses.
- 39:05Dallas gets Quentin Williams in a 2026 first round pick, and
- 39:09they lose Micah Parsons in a 2026 second round pick and
- 39:14Mozzie Smith. It doesn't feel that great.
- 39:17And a 2027 first round pick? Well.
- 39:21Did I say that round? You.
- 39:23No, you. You just missed a piece.
- 39:25You said they trade, they get a 2026 first round pick.
- 39:29No, no, because they gave that up.
- 39:31Oh, because I see, I see, I see, I see.
- 39:34You're zeroing things out. Right, exactly.
- 39:37So that's why I'm just looking at it strictly from the Cowboys
- 39:39perspective of what they have now and what they lost.
- 39:43And it's right now. I'm sorry I.
- 39:45Didn't follow that. Yeah, so just to review that, So
- 39:48what? After all the trades, after all
- 39:50the trades, and just from a Cowboys perspective, without the
- 39:52Packers or The Jets involved, the Dallas Cowboys now have
- 39:56Quinn and Williams and a 2026 first round pick in addition to
- 39:59their 2026 first round pick. So they have one additional
- 40:02first round pick and they lost Micah Parsons, a generational
- 40:06pass rusher. A 2026 second round pick, which
- 40:10by the way is only going to be about 15 picks worse than the
- 40:152026 first round pick and Mozzie Smith.
- 40:19It doesn't feel like it's that great.
- 40:20Honestly, I would rather have, I would rather have the two first
- 40:26round picks and I know they're going to be, they're not going
- 40:29to be super great picks. They're going to be in the in
- 40:32the 20s, probably late 20s, although who knows what you're
- 40:36getting with the Packers. They're going to be in the 20s
- 40:37somewhere, They're going to be in the 20s somewhere.
- 40:40But I personally would have the two first round picks.
- 40:44That's just me. I feel like it's kind of just
- 40:47going in circles. You get rid of Michael Parsons,
- 40:49you bring in Quinnie Williams, you get a first round pick, you
- 40:51lose a first round pick and you lost the second round pick.
- 40:55Right. I think they need an upgrade.
- 40:56I think they obviously need an upgrade.
- 40:58Different tackle. I, I, I do, this is going to be
- 41:03a bit of ignorance. Does Dallas run a 3 four or a
- 41:05four three? Do you know or do they swap a
- 41:08lot? I stopped caring about Dallas's
- 41:11defense a long time ago. So so they're going to have to
- 41:15start running a four, three, if they don't already, they're
- 41:18going to have to. They've got Kenny Clark and now
- 41:20Quinny Williams. You're not going to leave one of
- 41:23those two guys in the sideline. You're playing both of those
- 41:25guys all game long. I don't know.
- 41:28You're trading. You're trading an edge rusher.
- 41:30When all is said and done, you're trading a good pass
- 41:33rusher to stop the run. That's what you're doing because
- 41:37you're clawed in the middle and you're trying to stop the run.
- 41:39Right. And, and we've talked about this
- 41:41before, Will is what's been the biggest problem for the Cowboys,
- 41:44specifically in the play offs, is stopping the run.
- 41:46They can't stop the run. Now that this move looks good to
- 41:51stop the run, it looks good, but what about everybody else on
- 41:56your defense with Quinn and Williams, you probably have one
- 42:02actually really good player on your defense, right?
- 42:06And that's not to say that some of the other guys aren't good.
- 42:08I love Deron Bland. I love Deron Bland as of a
- 42:11former Cowboys fan. He did, he did and and CD Lamb
- 42:16let everybody know about it too. Did you see his face?
- 42:19Did you see his face after that? I did not.
- 42:21Yeah, he was just on the sidelines, like, oh.
- 42:24Dude, I mean roasted. Was that on the touchdown on
- 42:27Marvin Harrison's touchdown? Yeah.
- 42:31Oh man, that was as soon as that happens.
- 42:32He was such. Oh, that was bad.
- 42:35Yeah, CD lambs on the sideline. He's just sitting there and he's
- 42:38like, oh dude, he just got cooked.
- 42:41So I I love to Ron Bland. Like, he's a solid player, but
- 42:44he's not a star. Dallas's defense now has one
- 42:48legitimately good player that you can consider a star.
- 42:51And it was the same thing with with Mike Parsons.
- 42:54It's just a different position. My defense was bad with Micah
- 42:57Parsons. It's still bad.
- 42:58Now it just feels like the Cowboys are just going in
- 43:01circles. That's why I give it AB minus
- 43:04and it probably could be lower aside from the fact that Jerry
- 43:08Jones actually did something. So that's why I gave it a little
- 43:12bit higher over grade. But it just it could be AC
- 43:15honestly, it it just kind of just cancels out.
- 43:17But for The Jets, I think that this is an A and this has kind
- 43:22of has to do with the the other trade that they made because
- 43:25they're just stockpiling picks right now.
- 43:28Right. So The Jets now have two first
- 43:31rounders in 2026 and two second rounders in 2026, and they have
- 43:35three first round picks in 2027. If that's not an AI, don't know
- 43:41what is. I wonder, I mean, just like you
- 43:47said, we don't trust The Jets to make the right picks though.
- 43:50Then then that's The thing is I'm not basing it off of who
- 43:53they pick at all because we just don't know.
- 43:55This is just and this is just pick value, right?
- 43:58This is right now. This is like Madden status, like
- 44:00this is like Madden franchise mode and you just traded all
- 44:03your good players for a bunch of first round picks and hopefully
- 44:06you get something good. Like obviously in Madden you
- 44:09can, you know, you can cheat, you may get really good.
- 44:13Yeah, you can make it happen. But like right now, like the IT
- 44:17feels like The Jets are like on franchise mode and Madden and
- 44:20they just got a whole bunch of first round picks to just get a
- 44:24whole bunch of good players. And that that doesn't have, you
- 44:26know, my grade has nothing to do with who they could pick because
- 44:29we just don't know. They'll fumble it somehow.
- 44:32They'll fumble it just like the Browns do.
- 44:33They're fumble. They'll fumble everything, but
- 44:37this is this is not based off of that at all.
- 44:39This is just the pics that they received.
- 44:41This is to me, this feels like Kevin Costner's coming in draft
- 44:45day status to to Dallas or back to Indianapolis and and they
- 44:52trade, they trade back. Like we'll give you this bag of
- 44:58rocks and you're going to give us our first round pick back
- 45:00kind of thing. Or, or actually, we don't want
- 45:02our first round pick. You're going to give us your
- 45:04first round pick and we're going to give you, I don't know,
- 45:09Dwight Freeney, who's been retired for 10 years, just
- 45:12something like something like that.
- 45:13It's something going to happen with these Jets, which is too
- 45:16bad to say about The Jets, but I mean, they're just not trustable
- 45:21currently. Right, exactly what are your
- 45:23grades for this trade will. For The Jets, I actually think,
- 45:27and this to me is strictly because I don't trust them.
- 45:31I'm not just going off pick value.
- 45:33I think this is this is future facing.
- 45:36I actually give them AB minus for this.
- 45:39Their defense got worse today. You are, if you're playing The
- 45:44Jets the rest of the season, you are salivating.
- 45:47Your offense is solid and you're like, thank goodness we don't
- 45:50have to play against S Gardner or Quinn and Williams anymore is
- 45:55the Bills. I don't even know if the Bills
- 45:57play The Jets again this year. They may have already played
- 45:58them twice. I don't think so.
- 46:01I think they play. I think they play him one more
- 46:03time. Schedule moving forward Oh my
- 46:06gosh, they play the Browns. Could you imagine how much I, I
- 46:11mean, if you were Dylan Gabriel and you are struggling through
- 46:16your first 5 starts or whatever it's been and then three days,
- 46:20what, 5 days, excuse me, Before you play the Browns or before
- 46:23you play The Jets. They get rid of their two best
- 46:25defensive players and you're like, I'm sorry, Now we can run
- 46:28and throw the ball on them. This is going to be great.
- 46:32And then they play, I mean, they've got the Patriots and
- 46:34then the Ravens and the Falcons. The Dolphins, by the way, hey,
- 46:38we might actually get in the win out of this thing.
- 46:40The Saints probably looking for a win here.
- 46:42Now they, they do play the Bills last game in the regular season,
- 46:45but it's not going to matter at that point.
- 46:47I mean the I don't know, I give this I, I give this a bad grade.
- 46:55I see for the for The Jets, I think around the land, because
- 47:00you made your team works today. Your team will not get better
- 47:04until 2027 based off of the moves you made today.
- 47:09You did not, you did not win. You didn't win and it's it's
- 47:17it's not provable that you won for two more years.
- 47:21That means you didn't win. You're making risks today that
- 47:24have a two year payout in a league is all about winning
- 47:28right now. The entire NFL is when did you
- 47:31last win? When was your last Super Bowl?
- 47:33When was your last championship game?
- 47:35When was your last this that and the other players get paid based
- 47:39off of statistics, which is what did you do this year?
- 47:42It's not a what can you do potential gets you cut from the
- 47:46lake stats and right now get you paid.
- 47:50And right now The Jets made their team worse today.
- 47:52They made their team worse. So this gets AC.
- 47:55I'm probably down grading this to AC minus for The Jets.
- 47:59Honestly, the more I talk about, the worse equation to keep
- 48:02getting now for Dallas, kind of like you said, I don't think
- 48:08Dallas's defense is better to well, actually I take that back.
- 48:12I do think Dallas defense is better today than it was 3 weeks
- 48:18ago because you got you got a big upgrade, a big upgrade at
- 48:23defensive tackle. Mozzie Smith, not great.
- 48:26He's not horrible, not great. Corny Williams is great.
- 48:30I'm sure we haven't talked about yet.
- 48:32You got Logan Wilson. They had the worst middle
- 48:35linebacker starting in the league.
- 48:37I mean, you can just, you can watch all the film you want in
- 48:39this guy that yeah, I don't even know what his name is.
- 48:42He is terrible. He doesn't know how to play man
- 48:45coverage. He doesn't know how to play his
- 48:46own coverage. He can't stop the run.
- 48:49That guy was terrible. And so your defense did get
- 48:52better off of this. Right now, I don't think you're
- 48:55doing enough to make your team a contender.
- 48:58I don't think you're doing enough to make your team a
- 48:59playoff team. And so was that.
- 49:01And and this is where I'm going to talk a circle here, giving
- 49:05away your future when you're not good enough to be good.
- 49:09Like with the Colts, they are thinking we have, we have a
- 49:12late, late, late, late 20s, early 30s pick here.
- 49:16So we're going to be good. So we can we can finance our
- 49:20future a little bit to stay good right now.
- 49:22But when you're already not good, you should not be
- 49:25financing your future. Dallas should not be getting rid
- 49:28of their picks for the future for good players right now.
- 49:31I felt like they were buyers when they should have been
- 49:33sellers. Not that they should be selling
- 49:35anyway on that team, but they but they weren't buyers when it
- 49:39needed to be buyers a few years ago.
- 49:41And so for for Dallas, I give this trade ABB plus maybe right
- 49:47in between B&B plus because you did get better, but the cost may
- 49:52have been too high. Yep, I agree.
- 49:57But one more time, let's just applaud Jerry for just doing.
- 49:59Really. And just real quick here,
- 50:01Dallas, Dallas also acquired from the Cincinnati Bengals
- 50:05Logan Wilson and middle linebacker, the linebacker from
- 50:09the Bengals for a seventh round pick.
- 50:11I give this an A for Dallas and I give this an F for the
- 50:15Bengals. You got a seventh round pick on
- 50:18a defense that is abysmal. And if you were, as the Bengals
- 50:21were going to go on a fire sale, sell them.
- 50:25Don't get rid of one of your better players.
- 50:27Get basically nothing back in return.
- 50:30I mean I was expecting more moves from the Bengals today and
- 50:33it did not happen. And this is a good pick up for
- 50:36that. Was a bad pick up, bad loss for
- 50:38the Bengals. Yep.
- 50:42All right. So let's see.
- 50:44Probably got time for one. There's a lot of other trades
- 50:47out there, but probably got time for one more trade.
- 50:50And this one's kind of a collection because it's with the
- 50:53Philadelphia Eagles and the Philadelphia Eagles made several
- 50:56trades, just to name a few. So the Eagles get edge rusher
- 51:00Jalen Phillips from the Dolphins for a third round pick.
- 51:03So they gave up a third round pick to get him.
- 51:05They traded for cornerback Gyre Alexander and a 2027 seventh
- 51:11round pick. And they gave up a twenty 26th
- 51:136th round pick. They traded for corner Michael
- 51:16Carter and a 2027 seventh round pick and gave up wide receiver
- 51:21John Mechi and a 2027 sixth round pick.
- 51:27So the Eagles made a few trades. We're kind of going to grade
- 51:29this as a collective here now from the Eagles.
- 51:33Just we're not going to grade the other teams on this one just
- 51:36because there's we're doing just the Eagles as a whole.
- 51:38But I think the Eagles get an. AI can.
- 51:40Get an A. Yeah.
- 51:42And here's what I don't understand.
- 51:47If you're if you're a team in the NFL, why would you trade?
- 51:51Why would you trade a player? I'm just trying to sorry, I
- 51:55can't. I can't.
- 51:56I can't even say this. If you're a team in the NFL, why
- 51:59would you trade a good player that makes the Super Bowl
- 52:03champions better? Why would you trade a good
- 52:05player to the reigning Super Bowl champions to make them
- 52:08better? It doesn't make any sense to me.
- 52:11You got a third round pick for Jalen Phillips.
- 52:14Could you not have got a third round pick from any of the other
- 52:1630 teams in the league? Why would you trade a good
- 52:20player? He's not a great player, he's
- 52:21not a superstar. He's a solid player that makes
- 52:24the Eagles better. Why would you trade a solid
- 52:27player that helps the Eagles to the reigning Super Bowl
- 52:30champions? And it's not even about the
- 52:33Eagles. It's any team that's the
- 52:35reigning Super Bowl champions. If the Rams win the Super Bowl,
- 52:38the Bucks win the Super Bowl, the Eagles win the Super Bowl,
- 52:41the Chiefs win the Super Bowl, why would you trade a good
- 52:45player to the reigning Super Bowl champions that makes them
- 52:50better? It makes zero sense to me and
- 52:52will. I don't know if you have any
- 52:54opinion on this at all, but it makes literally no sense to me
- 52:57to do this. I I don't understand it at all.
- 53:00I mean, this makes sense from the Eagles, right?
- 53:03Eagles. Have been I think even buyers
- 53:05100%. I think the Eagles are buyers
- 53:07almost every year, aren't they? At the trade deadline, Yeah.
- 53:10I don't think the Eagles give a single crap about their draft
- 53:13picks. They just keep bringing more and
- 53:16more veterans. They buy every year.
- 53:18Like, yeah, let's just keep stacking it.
- 53:20That's why I don't understand. We'll take them.
- 53:23That's why I don't understand it, because why do teams just
- 53:25keep giving the Eagles these guys that just keep being
- 53:28successful with the Eagles? Don't trade with the Eagles.
- 53:32And again, it's not even about the Eagles don't trade with the
- 53:35reigning Super Bowl champions. Why would you make the reigning
- 53:39Super Bowl champions better? It makes no sense, Yeah.
- 53:43I don't, I don't have an answer there.
- 53:46I don't know if anybody does besides maybe it was the only
- 53:49offer they were actually getting.
- 53:51Maybe maybe it was, hey, we'll try to take away from their
- 53:55future if they give us a draft pick and they don't get it in
- 53:59the future. And but really round three, pick
- 54:0232, pick 30, pick 28. I mean, you're not, you're going
- 54:08to get a guy. You have to develop still.
- 54:10The Eagles also have The Jets third round pick and they're
- 54:13going to get another third round pick from a compensatory pick.
- 54:16The the Eagles literally gave up nothing.
- 54:19Yeah, it's like they literally gave up nothing.
- 54:22Which. Is why they're doing it.
- 54:23That's that's why they're doing that deal, which is.
- 54:26Exactly why it makes no sense for anybody to trade to the
- 54:29Eagles. But good job by the Eagles, not
- 54:32Hugh Laurie. That's Doctor House, Hugh.
- 54:36How we long? Yeah.
- 54:37Howie Roseman. There it is.
- 54:39Good golly how we go. It's a rough day for me.
- 54:42Every week we worked. Bear with me.
- 54:44We worked. Always bear with me.
- 54:46I listen. Same time zone.
- 54:49Absolute jet lag. I did not even leave the time
- 54:52zone. The amount of time I spent in
- 54:56airports over the last what? Saturday, Sunday.
- 54:59Monday, Sunday, zero hours between Saturday and Monday I
- 55:05spent probably 12 if not more hours in an airport or on an
- 55:10airplane to go 2 hours away. It was too much.
- 55:15I'm I'm mentally beat. Sorry everyone, not my best
- 55:19performance. Yeah, overall, I think the
- 55:24Eagles knocked their trades out of the park as they usually do
- 55:28so. Overall, not a bad day for the
- 55:30NFC West E good flipping golly, I need to go away now.
- 55:35We need to we need to close this one out.
- 55:37All right, Well, that's all we got for this episode.
- 55:39Yeah. Thank you.
- 55:42All right. Well, yeah, it was a, it was a
- 55:45really good trade deadline. I think there was a lot of
- 55:47really good trades, a really a lot of really interesting
- 55:49trades. Yeah, it was very exciting.
- 55:51It was kind of hard to keep up with, honestly.
- 55:53Like I was like scrambling to like try and put all the pieces
- 55:56together. I can't imagine how Adam Shifter
- 55:59and those guys do that. That is insane.
- 56:03If you want entertainment to see somebody who's more stressed out
- 56:07than you, go back and watch the Pat McAfee Show today.
- 56:11He calls, he FaceTime calls Adam Schefter 3 or 4 different times.
- 56:16One time Adam Schefter answers the FaceTime while on his other
- 56:20phone and says hey guys, I I can't.
- 56:22He looks so disheveled all day so just shipped through until
- 56:26you see Adam Schefter's face. It is worth a laugh at somebody
- 56:30who's more stressed out than you.
- 56:32Yeah, I don't know how those guys do that.
- 56:34That is absolutely insane. But yeah, so yeah, it'll be
- 56:39interesting to see how these teams do moving forward.
- 56:41But I think there was a lot of really good trades and some
- 56:44teams set themselves up for the future really well.
- 56:46So that's all we got time for on today's episode, guys.
- 56:49Next week, we'll have Avery back with us.
- 56:51And as always, guys, don't forget to keep your balls played
- 56:54with. We'll see you next time.
- 56:56I know. Y'all Also Mark Davis's haircut
- 56:58still sucks.
