- 0:07Speaker 1: Boulet Cap Show special guests in here. One of the
- 0:10Speaker 1: greatest rappers of all time. We got a good day
- 0:13Speaker 1: of rappers. Crooked Eye was here this morning. Crookedized one
- 0:17Speaker 1: of them guys. Definitely definitely welcome man, Big Crick, that's good, bro.
- 0:21Speaker 1: You were telling me we just left this Girl Talk
- 0:24Speaker 1: you we're gonna get to your album, but you wiz
- 0:27Speaker 1: smoked this Girl Talk. This album kind of came out
- 0:31Speaker 1: of nowhere. I'm not even gonna lie here. Definitely did it.
- 0:34Speaker 1: I mean, but we worked on it in twenty nineteen
- 0:37Speaker 1: and it's just crazy. The time and the music. It
- 0:40Speaker 1: just makes a lot of sense right now too. I mean,
- 0:42Speaker 1: everybody's back outside. These are all my brothers, and we've
- 0:45Speaker 1: been rocking with each other for years from the jump. Yeah,
- 0:48Speaker 1: and that shit was just so organic, bro, Like it
- 0:50Speaker 1: was we literally one day in the studio, Girl Talk
- 0:53Speaker 1: had all the crazy ass beats to the point where
- 0:55Speaker 1: once we did it, Girl Talk did all the mixing,
- 0:58Speaker 1: you know, arranged everything secrets. And I literally just heard
- 1:02Speaker 1: the album last week. That's crazy, and I was like,
- 1:04Speaker 1: and I trust the homiecause I know he's very meticulous
- 1:07Speaker 1: with music, and so I'm hearing the breakdown of the
- 1:11Speaker 1: song I got on there and I'm like, damn, you
- 1:12Speaker 1: chopped the fuck out of the beat, and I'm listening
- 1:15Speaker 1: to it for the like, oh shit, you got a
- 1:17Speaker 1: different appreciation too as a producer. Yeah, yeah, you guys
- 1:21Speaker 1: dis a whiz in yourself. I feel like all kind
- 1:25Speaker 1: of will be kind of somewhat tied together forever, just
- 1:29Speaker 1: based on and currency obviously, but just based on the
- 1:32Speaker 1: Smokers Club on obviously, the records early on in Christian
- 1:37Speaker 1: Orange Juice, Cushion, Orange Juice and the Glasshouse and all that. Like,
- 1:41Speaker 1: I feel like this is a kind of a nostalgic
- 1:44Speaker 1: project for guys like myself who missed that era of
- 1:46Speaker 1: hip hop what we like to call maybe the early
- 1:48Speaker 1: blog era, early blog era. What Like, I guess for you,
- 1:55Speaker 1: what was your thought process in saying like, yeah, this
- 1:59Speaker 1: is this feels cause you know, Wiz has got to
- 2:01Speaker 1: like going on, You gotta like going on. This is
- 2:03Speaker 1: doing a whole lot of shit. He's doing weed, he's
- 2:05Speaker 1: on podcasts, the albums, everything I heard that you guys
- 2:10Speaker 1: did this in one day, yeah, one session, yeah, and
- 2:13Speaker 1: then everybody else had solo records with Girl Talk before that,
- 2:17Speaker 1: I'm sure, and that gave us the opportunity to have
- 2:19Speaker 1: our own, like individual songs. But I think, man, it
- 2:23Speaker 1: was for me it was a breath of fresh air.
- 2:25Speaker 1: It was the kind of album where not only did
- 2:27Speaker 1: we not expect to do it, and we just fucking
- 2:29Speaker 1: got into like, oh, this is gonna come out crazy,
- 2:31Speaker 1: but not having the pressure of it thinking about it
- 2:34Speaker 1: like it's a label album kind of thing or all
- 2:37Speaker 1: you gotta be very calculated. We was like, fuck it,
- 2:40Speaker 1: we're making jam and ass music and then put it
- 2:43Speaker 1: together and it's out now, you know. And for me,
- 2:47Speaker 1: I needed this opportunity with the homies too, because it
- 2:49Speaker 1: just reminds me of why I even do it and
- 2:51Speaker 1: when I started in the field of that and we
- 2:55Speaker 1: as being the first person I even went on tour with,
- 2:57Speaker 1: you know, back in twenty ten. So it's like, man,
- 2:59Speaker 1: we it's a different kind of you know, family friendship,
- 3:02Speaker 1: especially in this music industry. That Bro, we came together
- 3:05Speaker 1: the mace of jam shit literally just had fun. Bro.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Which tour was the twenty ten tour Chrishion Orangeices that
- 3:10Speaker 1: was the original Cushion Oranges stead Bro. I literally, yeah,
- 3:13Speaker 1: we was out there, you know, you were like like
- 3:17Speaker 1: when you when you hear a record like glass House
- 3:19Speaker 1: and like kind of like when we think back to
- 3:20Speaker 1: like maybe how important that record was and how it
- 3:23Speaker 1: kind of just helped it really kind of I think
- 3:27Speaker 1: it helped everyone out. And it's such a cultural like
- 3:32Speaker 1: I think of one train, right, that's another one of those. Definitely,
- 3:36Speaker 1: I think a glass House is like one of those
- 3:38Speaker 1: as well. It just kind of encapsulated that time period
- 3:42Speaker 1: in south By Southwest, south By Southwest, free mixtapes, bucket Man,
- 3:47Speaker 1: do every show you can standing on you know, not
- 3:50Speaker 1: even on the stage, just freestyle and sit in the street.
- 3:53Speaker 1: How often you go back and listen to that record?
- 3:55Speaker 1: And like what memories is that record given? You bring
- 3:57Speaker 1: a lot of memories people. People won't you know, I mean,
- 4:00Speaker 1: to perform that song, I don't You're the best. You
- 4:02Speaker 1: had the best verse on that rackd I mean, I mean,
- 4:04Speaker 1: thank you, you know, I appreciate that. But for me,
- 4:07Speaker 1: it was just like I think respectfully, they know, I mean, look,
- 4:12Speaker 1: I will say the way that record came about and
- 4:14Speaker 1: then what happened with my career after was because the
- 4:18Speaker 1: Homies was definitely not only crushing it, but Cushion Orange
- 4:21Speaker 1: Juice was I mean, I think it was about to
- 4:23Speaker 1: come out and just the excitement behind everybody and kind
- 4:26Speaker 1: of be a new artists and we were getting our
- 4:28Speaker 1: own separate deals, and the doing that record put me
- 4:32Speaker 1: put my name in front of a lot of people
- 4:33Speaker 1: that wasn't aware of what I was doing, because was
- 4:36Speaker 1: Glasshouse before Creit was here? Yeah, I think Glasshouse we
- 4:39Speaker 1: did that twenty ten March. I think Cruiser came out
- 4:43Speaker 1: in April or May. I was about to say it
- 4:45Speaker 1: felt like it was like a like right before, Yeah,
- 4:47Speaker 1: And so that that put me in a lot of
- 4:49Speaker 1: people cars and me, who is this motherfucker? And then
- 4:52Speaker 1: between the beat because even the kind of track I
- 4:54Speaker 1: don't the homies wouldn't necessarily always rap on that kind
- 4:57Speaker 1: of kind of thing too. And so after that, going
- 5:00Speaker 1: on tour, being able to perform that with Wiz in
- 5:02Speaker 1: the currency just kind of kept putting my name out
- 5:04Speaker 1: there up until we did a two thousand Living Double
- 5:07Speaker 1: x CeAl cover. That's when people really saw who I was,
- 5:09Speaker 1: because I wouldn't even put my face on covers and
- 5:10Speaker 1: ships didn't know what the fuck I looked like. That's real.
- 5:13Speaker 1: You were kind of you were a little key early on. Yeah,
- 5:15Speaker 1: you know, and so you your face wasn't on any
- 5:18Speaker 1: of the artwork, very very just the brand create name.
- 5:22Speaker 1: And I remember going out on the road with Wiz
- 5:26Speaker 1: and then Black and Yellow had took off while he
- 5:28Speaker 1: was on the road and just I was living in Vegas.
- 5:31Speaker 1: I think that ship was so crazy, bro, and the
- 5:34Speaker 1: energy and I know it was still thousands people didn't
- 5:37Speaker 1: know idea who the fuck I was, but it definitely
- 5:40Speaker 1: gave me opportunity a platform to get new fans. Yeah,
- 5:42Speaker 1: that was That was a moment. Black and Yellow was
- 5:44Speaker 1: one of the macas like oh it's got one now,
- 5:47Speaker 1: Like okay, at the one one the ones here because
- 5:51Speaker 1: before that I was like okay, he's up next. But yeah,
- 5:54Speaker 1: but once you catch one of them, that shit took off. Bro. Yeah,
- 5:57Speaker 1: if it put you in a different sphere, for sure.
- 5:59Speaker 1: I what I also appreciate is I actually recently got
- 6:03Speaker 1: to purchase crit was here on vinyl. Hey we thank you.
- 6:06Speaker 1: I was out a MEBA and I was surprised to
- 6:07Speaker 1: see it. Yeah, and I was like, wait a minute, shit,
- 6:11Speaker 1: I don't know if it's a bootlegger. I hope not,
- 6:14Speaker 1: but no, I mean, it was just amazing to be
- 6:16Speaker 1: able to have that out on streaming platforms for people
- 6:19Speaker 1: to listen to it. Now, I was gonna say, like,
- 6:20Speaker 1: I know that was an uphill battle. I mean, because
- 6:23Speaker 1: you wanted. It's not only sample clearances, I mean and
- 6:26Speaker 1: me is also the thought process behind not wanting it
- 6:29Speaker 1: to sound, not wanting to lose clean it up too much,
- 6:33Speaker 1: wanting people still get that same feel. Some records didn't
- 6:36Speaker 1: make it, you know, something that had to change, But
- 6:38Speaker 1: it's still a blessing man, all these years to be
- 6:40Speaker 1: able to put that out and people actually wanted to listen.
- 6:42Speaker 1: I'm just happy that I don't have to go to
- 6:44Speaker 1: that PIF anymore. Yeah ah yeah on YouTube and it
- 6:47Speaker 1: cut off after the YouTube is the worst. Yeah. So
- 6:50Speaker 1: you know, but no, we out here man, and it's
- 6:52Speaker 1: just to have a catalog is a beautiful thing, too,
- 6:54Speaker 1: Broder and you have a catalog, I was like, over
- 6:57Speaker 1: four hundred fucking songs. You have four hundred songs on
- 6:59Speaker 1: DSP to got to do at this point, that makes sense? Yeah,
- 7:03Speaker 1: so how many albums officially? Now that teen ten albums? Wow? Yeah,
- 7:08Speaker 1: I think Mina will stay ten. Yeah. So and in
- 7:13Speaker 1: still having the hunger to do this. That's not even
- 7:16Speaker 1: including the little EPs you dropped like four years ago,
- 7:19Speaker 1: freestyle ships and all that, all the features combined, definitely
- 7:24Speaker 1: got a lot of music out here with features combined
- 7:25Speaker 1: your over four hundred year wild Now. Yeah, here's a
- 7:30Speaker 1: song I recently, uh just came up on my YouTube.
- 7:34Speaker 1: I don't know, I was just listening to music and
- 7:36Speaker 1: it was the fullest ship record you did with Oh
- 7:38Speaker 1: yeah Yellow. Yeah that record is disrespectful. Verse on that
- 7:45Speaker 1: song is so I'm like, bro, if you dropped this
- 7:48Speaker 1: in twenty twenty two, you're getting Yeah, but that ship
- 7:51Speaker 1: was damning for what the time period? But no, we can't. Yeah,
- 7:55Speaker 1: they got that shit, gotta stay back there. The hook
- 7:57Speaker 1: alone is just yes, I guess I'm full. Yeah, Yeah,
- 8:00Speaker 1: that's real. Let's talk about digital roses don't die, sir.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Love the title thank You. I think it fits the
- 8:08Speaker 1: vibe of this project. You've dabbled with some funky shit
- 8:12Speaker 1: in the past, but I feel like with this album
- 8:15Speaker 1: you fully committed to just a different vibe than when
- 8:19Speaker 1: we get in the car and press play on a
- 8:21Speaker 1: Crest album. Yeah, where's your head? Where's your head out?
- 8:24Speaker 1: When you're making this project and it sounds amazing. I
- 8:26Speaker 1: think you executed it amazingly. Thank you. I mean, for me,
- 8:29Speaker 1: I just didn't want to drop an album coming out
- 8:32Speaker 1: of twenty twenty twenty twenty one that sounded like what
- 8:35Speaker 1: people know me for. I wanted to change and show
- 8:38Speaker 1: the kind of growth not only I've gotten mentally, but
- 8:42Speaker 1: musically and grounded and comfortable like I it's okay for
- 8:46Speaker 1: me to make a funky record or sing on my
- 8:48Speaker 1: entire You sound great singing many bas you sound good.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Not too much? Yeah, who isn't using tunes? Let's be honest,
- 8:56Speaker 1: but a little fucker's using tune on the rapping verses.
- 8:58Speaker 1: But the thing was too bro, It's like you can't.
- 9:00Speaker 1: There's nobody the feature for you in your life. Right,
- 9:03Speaker 1: So been writing this album, it's like if it's a
- 9:05Speaker 1: love album, the only two voices that you hear constantly
- 9:08Speaker 1: is me and this amazing singer named Roland, right, and
- 9:11Speaker 1: it's this back and forth for me and this woman
- 9:13Speaker 1: kind of relationship thing. And so records like Generational way Down,
- 9:17Speaker 1: It's my story, is how I feel. So despite how
- 9:20Speaker 1: many notes I might hit this bed, I have to
- 9:22Speaker 1: sing this because it's how it's I wrote it, and
- 9:25Speaker 1: it's it's my personal experience. And so starting to think
- 9:28Speaker 1: about music like that kind of changed how I even
- 9:31Speaker 1: approach your album at this point, right. And it's amazing
- 9:34Speaker 1: that the Girl Talk album is coming out because I
- 9:36Speaker 1: get to be young spirits, you know, maybe people that
- 9:39Speaker 1: missed that Glass House Country ship for myself, and that's cool,
- 9:43Speaker 1: But that was in my twenties. You know, I'm in
- 9:45Speaker 1: my thirties and I'm supposed to grow, and your fans
- 9:48Speaker 1: are growing, manah, I mean, shit, they got kids, most
- 9:50Speaker 1: of them facts, you know what I'm saying. Or they
- 9:52Speaker 1: then went through the college experience and they're trying to
- 9:55Speaker 1: get they house, you know, and how many I mean,
- 9:57Speaker 1: if you're thinking twenty ten was doing, I mean that's
- 9:59Speaker 1: twelve years. Yeah, but I started. My first part just
- 10:02Speaker 1: came out in two thousand and four. That's crazy, you
- 10:05Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. And so I've been I've done
- 10:07Speaker 1: that and I've been in eighteen years. Yeah bro, Yeah,
- 10:11Speaker 1: first beat ever made was in nineteen ninety nine, so
- 10:13Speaker 1: this is two thousand and one. I dropped my first
- 10:15Speaker 1: mixtape in my city. It Lily was twenty one years ago. Yeah, yep.
- 10:20Speaker 1: So it's like I've been doing it to be able
- 10:22Speaker 1: to be as vulnerable as I was on this album,
- 10:25Speaker 1: to make a record like more than Roses and have
- 10:27Speaker 1: that flu the dude killed it. That was the closest
- 10:30Speaker 1: thing I've ever got to making something really Hutch would
- 10:33Speaker 1: make something, and I just felt that way, you know,
- 10:35Speaker 1: and to me, that's what I do this for, bro,
- 10:38Speaker 1: I gotta challenge myself. It just gave me like a
- 10:41Speaker 1: really like timeless feel like this shit will live in
- 10:46Speaker 1: like ten years. It could have lived in nineteen seventy eight.
- 10:48Speaker 1: It could actually and if you go with it, if
- 10:50Speaker 1: you're in a relationship, it's something in this album that's
- 10:53Speaker 1: for you. Yeah, you might be you might not be
- 10:56Speaker 1: with it now, but you don't worry. You'll go. You're
- 11:00Speaker 1: gonna go through one of these motherfucker tracks, you know. No.
- 11:03Speaker 1: I love the title too, just like because we live
- 11:05Speaker 1: in a world in which everything is digital, and you know,
- 11:09Speaker 1: what was your motivation to that digital? Roses don't die?
- 11:13Speaker 1: There was two different perspectives. The first one was the
- 11:15Speaker 1: fact that we document our relationships in a sense, and
- 11:18Speaker 1: even if you're not with that person, that stuff is
- 11:20Speaker 1: still out there to sea still on the Internet. They
- 11:22Speaker 1: could bring you down or it can encourage you, depending
- 11:25Speaker 1: on how you feel. I didn't think that. But in
- 11:27Speaker 1: the grander scheme, we've been digital way longer than when
- 11:30Speaker 1: we think. My dad showed me a picture of my
- 11:33Speaker 1: sent me a picture of my grandparents when they were
- 11:35Speaker 1: super young together, and then I'm looking at this and
- 11:37Speaker 1: I'm like, this is a digital rose. You know, neither
- 11:39Speaker 1: one of my grandparents are here, but this has been
- 11:41Speaker 1: passed down from generation to generation and now I'm gonna
- 11:43Speaker 1: get to pass it down to my kids as well.
- 11:45Speaker 1: So this is way bigger than it just being the Internet.
- 11:48Speaker 1: This is your own personal experience and journey being documented
- 11:53Speaker 1: and people get to look back at it, and it
- 11:55Speaker 1: goes from not only the people in the picture, but
- 11:57Speaker 1: who took the photo, what was happening during that time,
- 12:00Speaker 1: Iron period. You know, we're seeing pictures of people that
- 12:03Speaker 1: deal with the Spanish fluid and mask. Everybody saw that.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Now we we we got photos like that, we got
- 12:10Speaker 1: we got documented time. We're gonna be like, yeah, we're
- 12:12Speaker 1: living we're living in history right now. We don't even
- 12:14Speaker 1: realize it because we're in it. Like, man, what the
- 12:15Speaker 1: fuck are they wearing from now, we're going to look
- 12:17Speaker 1: back and be like, y'all remember crazy then two years
- 12:20Speaker 1: were crazy, And so for me, it's just about expressing
- 12:23Speaker 1: it and wanting people to really take heed and document
- 12:26Speaker 1: and and give those roses today to each other. Now
- 12:30Speaker 1: it's very important. I'm glad you did this collab project
- 12:33Speaker 1: because we've always been teased with you doing collab projects
- 12:36Speaker 1: as artists and they've never happened. You and Yellow the
- 12:39Speaker 1: Country cousins, and then me and Saw I had a
- 12:42Speaker 1: conversation and you and so Highway did. I don't know
- 12:44Speaker 1: who would out wrap too, but that would have been like, yeah,
- 12:46Speaker 1: and he's a he's a monster. That would have been
- 12:49Speaker 1: like spy versus spy. He's a monster. So it's and
- 12:54Speaker 1: but these this, this, this kind of gave me the
- 12:56Speaker 1: confidence moving forward to like, I listen listen lab more
- 13:01Speaker 1: because it's if for me, it's I have to let
- 13:03Speaker 1: go of the rains a little bit too. Not wanting
- 13:05Speaker 1: to produce. I'm gonna say, because you handle so much
- 13:07Speaker 1: of the creative process for all of your music, I
- 13:10Speaker 1: feel back this time. I mean it was a collective
- 13:12Speaker 1: off fort us being in the studio so we trust
- 13:14Speaker 1: each other's cook writing capabilities. We know who verse will
- 13:18Speaker 1: sound better first or second. You know what I'm saying, Oh,
- 13:21Speaker 1: I don't even need to be on that song. That's
- 13:22Speaker 1: all you broke as you snapping and having that kind
- 13:25Speaker 1: of confidence in your skill. That's what makes the album
- 13:28Speaker 1: jamming because we know we're all gonna snap, you know
- 13:30Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So that's real. Yeah, if you uh,
- 13:34Speaker 1: you're one of the you know, there's some great producers
- 13:36Speaker 1: slash artists. Obviously Kanye J. Cole don't get enough love
- 13:39Speaker 1: for that. Ja Cole was he don't produce as much
- 13:43Speaker 1: as he used to. It's taxing too, though, Bro, when
- 13:46Speaker 1: you sitting there having to make the beat right the hood,
- 13:49Speaker 1: you know, do the verse, it's a challenge. I feel like,
- 13:52Speaker 1: what was it? The last was it? The last album
- 13:55Speaker 1: was the first time you kind of totally were like
- 13:57Speaker 1: it is here. I was like, Yo, you were like
- 13:59Speaker 1: one record now Blue Flame Ballet, which was see but
- 14:03Speaker 1: I was still I was letting people know that was
- 14:05Speaker 1: a great fucking record, like that I'm gonna go this way,
- 14:08Speaker 1: you know, but and that. But even working with them
- 14:11Speaker 1: showed me that it's ways of me trying to work
- 14:14Speaker 1: on music that I don't have to stick with samples
- 14:17Speaker 1: anymore or even the idea of it. So if you're
- 14:19Speaker 1: listening to digital roses don't die. There's no samples. And
- 14:23Speaker 1: I was gonna say, like producing an album like this
- 14:26Speaker 1: where there's live instrumentation, you talked about bringing in a
- 14:29Speaker 1: food player. Yeah, that's got to add a different element
- 14:31Speaker 1: to just your whole process. That's gotta be kind of fun. Oh,
- 14:35Speaker 1: it was fun, But then it's it's also makes it
- 14:37Speaker 1: a little bit more difficult, right, I'm about to say,
- 14:39Speaker 1: but it's scary because you funk off and goes so
- 14:42Speaker 1: like it's like that thousand digitals thing. It's like, oh,
- 14:45Speaker 1: I'm gonna put this in and put this in, spending
- 14:47Speaker 1: months on a record and a little bit more expensive
- 14:49Speaker 1: to then play it for people and they don't get
- 14:51Speaker 1: what the fuck you where you're going with it? Like
- 14:54Speaker 1: I'm gonna take this risk, and that's and then and
- 14:56Speaker 1: I took it. I really took that risks because I
- 14:58Speaker 1: remember even when I did the the record show you, right,
- 15:01Speaker 1: they went through so many versions of that song before.
- 15:03Speaker 1: When I would play it, people would get it. But
- 15:05Speaker 1: in the beginning, it was like, they still don't get it.
- 15:08Speaker 1: I got to holler at the homie Modre so he
- 15:10Speaker 1: can do the talkbox, so I can defunk, so you
- 15:13Speaker 1: can actually feel where I'm going, and these elements can
- 15:15Speaker 1: change the listener's ear quickly. Yeah, it was definitely a risk,
- 15:20Speaker 1: but I think there's a few people who could pull
- 15:22Speaker 1: pull that ship off. I'm not sure you're capable of
- 15:24Speaker 1: doing anything really terrible. If I did, you would never
- 15:27Speaker 1: hear it, yes, cause I know I know I'd have
- 15:30Speaker 1: made some ship, but you'll never hear you know what
- 15:32Speaker 1: I'm saying. But that's a that's a part of the
- 15:34Speaker 1: creative process. Like it normally starts in the morning. I
- 15:38Speaker 1: give me some good piano chords going, and I go
- 15:40Speaker 1: to singing. Then by that time I'm shooting the ideal
- 15:43Speaker 1: over the Dutch, like, bro, what you think about this?
- 15:45Speaker 1: And then through through on just playing it through the
- 15:47Speaker 1: speaker and like that's hard, and then I just keep
- 15:50Speaker 1: building from there. Talk to me about your death jam Era,
- 15:54Speaker 1: because as a fan, it was extremely frustrating because I'd
- 15:58Speaker 1: always I guess when you ended up at death jam
- 16:02Speaker 1: I was like, oh, now this it's it's going down right,
- 16:05Speaker 1: and we at the hip hop Michle what Death Jam
- 16:08Speaker 1: finally's got the machine behind because just cinematic Yeah okay
- 16:12Speaker 1: at the time, and I just felt like, at least
- 16:17Speaker 1: from a fans perspective, they grossly mishandled you or just
- 16:20Speaker 1: just not did not know what to do with big Critic. Well,
- 16:23Speaker 1: the building that signed me, like I think two weeks
- 16:28Speaker 1: a month later was gone. That happens a lot, and
- 16:30Speaker 1: then you you already kind of starting off rocky because
- 16:34Speaker 1: you got working with the people that may have been
- 16:36Speaker 1: people who believed in you, that brought you in. Y're gone.
- 16:39Speaker 1: And man, I was determined and shout out the shot
- 16:41Speaker 1: money and my team. I was determined to produce my
- 16:43Speaker 1: first album no matter what I was like, Man, there
- 16:46Speaker 1: was a gold and it was something that I needed
- 16:48Speaker 1: to do for myself because it was that idea old
- 16:51Speaker 1: crit sign watched it ship change up, so I just
- 16:54Speaker 1: like fucked that, you know. And then I went right
- 16:56Speaker 1: into doing all the beats and wanting to keep it
- 16:59Speaker 1: the same way I did with the mixtapes and what
- 17:02Speaker 1: with the projects at the time. And so what happened
- 17:04Speaker 1: is the samples of some samples I couldn't clear some
- 17:06Speaker 1: features I couldn't get. Then when you mixing that kind
- 17:09Speaker 1: of stuff and you having to remove things off the whim,
- 17:12Speaker 1: it just changed the narrative of what the album originally
- 17:15Speaker 1: would have felt like because I couldn't get sample clearances,
- 17:18Speaker 1: and we fought for a lot of the records and
- 17:20Speaker 1: I had the change them. Shits like three days before
- 17:23Speaker 1: I had to turn the album me in kind of stuff.
- 17:24Speaker 1: And I've been listening to this live from underground song
- 17:27Speaker 1: a certain kind of way, and I gotta I gotta
- 17:31Speaker 1: change it. I gotta get this piano played, but try
- 17:33Speaker 1: to make it sound old. But you know what it's
- 17:35Speaker 1: like when you sample something then you try to recreate it.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Sometimes it's not quite right. But in that album, we
- 17:41Speaker 1: showed people that just because you're not getting the label
- 17:44Speaker 1: support and they don't know what to do it, it
- 17:46Speaker 1: doesn't mean that people aren't gonna buy it. It was
- 17:48Speaker 1: a great album. Yeah, And and my supporters came through,
- 17:51Speaker 1: and then first we sales. My fuckers looking at us
- 17:53Speaker 1: like how did y'all do that? I was like, mean, y'all,
- 17:56Speaker 1: like I have they my people, they come out, you know.
- 17:59Speaker 1: But even with singles, trying to get the single pushed
- 18:02Speaker 1: and then ship we dropped money on the floor in
- 18:05Speaker 1: twenty eleven September. My album didn't come out till June
- 18:09Speaker 1: twenty twelve, so I had literally trying to promote you
- 18:13Speaker 1: single for damn a year. Okay, So crit was here
- 18:17Speaker 1: came out when in Return to Forever dropped twenty eleven.
- 18:21Speaker 1: It came out March, and Them was the third tape
- 18:23Speaker 1: before the album. The day I dropped to think about
- 18:27Speaker 1: that I had in order to keep the momentum going.
- 18:29Speaker 1: I knew how because Forever the day you already were
- 18:31Speaker 1: on death jam, right, I had to drop something in
- 18:34Speaker 1: order to keep keeping You're like, I mean, between you
- 18:38Speaker 1: and Wiz and I'm probably forgetting, but you guys have
- 18:41Speaker 1: the albums that weren't albums, but they were albums. I mean,
- 18:45Speaker 1: but that was the best way to keep people engaged.
- 18:47Speaker 1: It was free, you know, they weren't mixtapes. They were
- 18:50Speaker 1: like this new thing where people were just giving away
- 18:53Speaker 1: real albums. That was the best. That was your best
- 18:56Speaker 1: calling card at the time, though, Like and then if
- 18:59Speaker 1: you any for me, it was like, man, I want
- 19:01Speaker 1: to make sure that this project competes with these major
- 19:03Speaker 1: label albums, regardless of how I'm doing it in my room.
- 19:07Speaker 1: We drop it randomly, and that's what he did. To
- 19:09Speaker 1: the point people was like, for and Day should have
- 19:11Speaker 1: been your album, you know, And I had to. I
- 19:14Speaker 1: had to. I had to take that with a grain
- 19:15Speaker 1: of salt. But I'm like, I spent a different kind
- 19:17Speaker 1: of energy. It was different. You didn't have to worry
- 19:19Speaker 1: about nobody. Even it was called the Red Tape. I
- 19:21Speaker 1: just popped up and was like, yo, I remember Ford
- 19:24Speaker 1: the Day or uh yeah, the last table for that
- 19:28Speaker 1: did drop out of nowhere? Yeah, because I told her,
- 19:30Speaker 1: I said, we need to do something. It's out here, bro,
- 19:37Speaker 1: we need to drop this. And then then it becomes
- 19:39Speaker 1: this thing where I had so much creative freedom to
- 19:43Speaker 1: do it. So I'm fucking working either the cover, everything
- 19:48Speaker 1: about it just became Oh, that could have been my album?
- 19:51Speaker 1: What is your? My favorite project of yours is returning Forever?
- 19:55Speaker 1: What is you? If you? If you had to, if
- 19:58Speaker 1: you had to, like tell one, like, I don't know,
- 20:00Speaker 1: let's say, fucking aliens came down and they're like, what's
- 20:03Speaker 1: your best album? We're trying to take the shit to Mars.
- 20:05Speaker 1: What's the album you give them? I got I gotta
- 20:07Speaker 1: says it's for, It's for was a mighty long time
- 20:10Speaker 1: in return forether. I think those two pretty much sum
- 20:13Speaker 1: up the growth and what I'm capable of. And Fela's
- 20:16Speaker 1: burning alone time was not only a process, but it
- 20:19Speaker 1: was this beautiful way of me telling people that I
- 20:22Speaker 1: have these do ways of thinking about my career and
- 20:25Speaker 1: then wanting to be this turnent artist. And I love,
- 20:29Speaker 1: you know, performing that, but I got so much more
- 20:32Speaker 1: to say and here, and then sometimes I don't even
- 20:36Speaker 1: know if music, if I'm getting my point across with
- 20:39Speaker 1: the event enough, or if drinking sessions is like I'm
- 20:43Speaker 1: doing this stuff because I feel this way and it's
- 20:44Speaker 1: not just me trying to shock value kind of thing.
- 20:47Speaker 1: And so it was just being able to be that open,
- 20:49Speaker 1: that creative. And I appreciate my team for letting me
- 20:52Speaker 1: do a double album, which nobody was doing that at
- 20:55Speaker 1: the time. It's true, like that's a lot of music.
- 20:57Speaker 1: I was like, bru, that's a lot, and then it's
- 20:59Speaker 1: not even up on iTunes. It's just one of the
- 21:02Speaker 1: long Well that's the thing about nowadays, it's like if
- 21:04Speaker 1: you drop a double album, you just drop a long ass.
- 21:07Speaker 1: This long ass playlist if it's not broken up in pieces.
- 21:10Speaker 1: But fact, even doing the Justin Scott intro is like
- 21:15Speaker 1: I sampled my own intro to create the big Creed intro.
- 21:19Speaker 1: So it's just small things. It's like, Man, I'm always
- 21:22Speaker 1: taking the next step creatively if I can. Hey, we
- 21:25Speaker 1: got to stop the interview real quick. Man. Shout out
- 21:27Speaker 1: to our sponsors at my Bookie. Now, if you're into

- 22:47Speaker 1: I mean, you're part of some of the best ever.
- 22:49Speaker 1: I'm looking at Joey Manna's picture right now. I'm like
- 22:52Speaker 1: that the record we did with Echo Underground Airplane. You
- 22:56Speaker 1: remember that. I remember when clothing brands used to do
- 22:59Speaker 1: SONGTSG mixtape Echo. Yeah, that's what's hard. But it's between
- 23:06Speaker 1: that and one train. I got off on one train.
- 23:08Speaker 1: One train is like I went the fuck off. It's
- 23:11Speaker 1: like it should be in a museum. To me, I'm
- 23:13Speaker 1: gonna tell you this funny story about this shit. The
- 23:16Speaker 1: reason why I was like, I don't give a fuck.
- 23:18Speaker 1: I'm gonna do. I'm gonna do A thirty two. I'm
- 23:20Speaker 1: gonna just keep going. We do the BT Award cipher
- 23:25Speaker 1: BT Tailler's write twelve boss to this instrumental? Cool, we
- 23:30Speaker 1: get to the cipher, everybody kicking fucking forty eights and
- 23:33Speaker 1: sixty four? Is this shit? My verses A twelve, I'm like,
- 23:36Speaker 1: I'll never again get a motherfucking instrumental and not just
- 23:40Speaker 1: go crazy. So once Rocky singing to me, and I
- 23:42Speaker 1: love the way he did it because it was like
- 23:44Speaker 1: nobody hurt. Nobody first say here go to instrumental. Bro
- 23:47Speaker 1: any idea, who's gonna be I know what the fuck
- 23:49Speaker 1: gonna be on the song? Yeah, I'm like all right,
- 23:52Speaker 1: so yeah, wow, like I'm gonna go fucking crazy and
- 23:56Speaker 1: the BB king line r ip the legend. It was
- 23:59Speaker 1: your self, Wolf, Joey, Badass, Danny Brown, h Action was
- 24:07Speaker 1: on it. I'm forgetting I'm like, I'm Rick was on it.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Kendrick was on it. Fuck, that was it. That was
- 24:13Speaker 1: a moment. That's crazy, that was the moment. Yeah, it's
- 24:17Speaker 1: it's so that was bold for that one. That was
- 24:19Speaker 1: that was dope. Well, I just think that, like you
- 24:22Speaker 1: said that you you you view your career through two
- 24:24Speaker 1: different perspectives at times, or at least that on that
- 24:27Speaker 1: album you said that you had kind of communicated that
- 24:32Speaker 1: in the day, I did the same thing. I feel
- 24:34Speaker 1: like when it like like a lot of people have
- 24:39Speaker 1: you in the guards of like being one of the
- 24:41Speaker 1: greatest right of all time, of your generation whatever, actually
- 24:44Speaker 1: put out a I don't you remember when that hundred
- 24:48Speaker 1: Rappers someone put out a Yeah, But I put out
- 24:51Speaker 1: I put out a list, and I think I had you,
- 24:53Speaker 1: like in the top twenty or twenty five, and I
- 24:55Speaker 1: had people in the I had Freddy super high, I
- 24:57Speaker 1: had you super high, push a t with super hot.
- 25:01Speaker 1: I had you a buffer little Wayne for sure. Okay, okay, okay.
- 25:04Speaker 1: People didn't like that. I'm pretty sure they didn't. But
- 25:08Speaker 1: you know, in one regard, you're like in that conversation
- 25:12Speaker 1: amongst the people who know, and then on the other
- 25:16Speaker 1: side of the coin, it's like I still feel like
- 25:18Speaker 1: somehow you haven't met your potential commercially yet, And I'm
- 25:22Speaker 1: not saying that that is not coming. Yeah, I mean
- 25:24Speaker 1: it's it's it's most people will say. Traditionally, I haven't
- 25:27Speaker 1: had a quote unquote hit. Country Ship probably was the
- 25:30Speaker 1: Bigges Supposed to Stay that was the biggest record, and
- 25:32Speaker 1: I think from that it was I tried to play
- 25:36Speaker 1: the Sweetie and Little Wayne song in real in La.
- 25:37Speaker 1: I was fighting to get that bitch on the mixed
- 25:39Speaker 1: show thank You, thank You and that and even that record.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Sometimes I've just been ahead of the curve just a
- 25:44Speaker 1: little yeah, because that was a little pre before Sweetie
- 25:47Speaker 1: really caught, you know what I'm saying. And then even
- 25:49Speaker 1: with having a record with Future right just last week
- 25:53Speaker 1: record with two, I forgot about that song. And so
- 25:56Speaker 1: it's for me, it's always wanting to work with people
- 25:58Speaker 1: and just because I'm fucking what they sound, and then
- 26:01Speaker 1: obviously things take off. But it's it's just been the narrative.
- 26:05Speaker 1: But I never chased it. I never was, like I
- 26:07Speaker 1: think pay attention to working with Rico Love also was
- 26:10Speaker 1: the closest thing because I was starting to get some yeah,
- 26:13Speaker 1: and then that was me trying to find and kind
- 26:15Speaker 1: of grow up a little more than what people was
- 26:18Speaker 1: used to. That was a different record for which is
- 26:20Speaker 1: the Wooden Chain, And you know the I forgot about
- 26:23Speaker 1: the Wooden Chain, you know. So it's like I'm growing up,
- 26:29Speaker 1: you know. But going through all those things really showed
- 26:33Speaker 1: me that people I don't have a box that I'm in,
- 26:36Speaker 1: so people that if it's jamming, they cool with what
- 26:39Speaker 1: I present and then just now doing it in the
- 26:42Speaker 1: most authentic way as I possibly can, you know, but
- 26:46Speaker 1: those are great piers. I go back and look at
- 26:48Speaker 1: them videos. I'm like, man, we the quality for what
- 26:51Speaker 1: it for the time time, for not necessarily having the
- 26:54Speaker 1: certain kind of label support that most would be. I
- 26:57Speaker 1: never slacked on the fact that I wanted to give
- 26:59Speaker 1: people the best me right, And I remember what Live
- 27:03Speaker 1: from the Underground kind of went through with the critique
- 27:05Speaker 1: of it, how people felt about it, coming back doing
- 27:08Speaker 1: cattle at good then people going back and being like,
- 27:11Speaker 1: you know what Live for the Underground was jamming? I like,
- 27:15Speaker 1: I mean, listen, I like that one too. Yeah, I mean,
- 27:17Speaker 1: but it was just it was always like and keep
- 27:21Speaker 1: in mind, bro be telling people, it's like, man, I
- 27:22Speaker 1: had to create a whole planet I created a whole
- 27:24Speaker 1: planet wrapped about it, the story of it, and it
- 27:28Speaker 1: was still like, y'all still don't see, like I'm do
- 27:31Speaker 1: you want to know what it is? I think that
- 27:34Speaker 1: when you come out with two projects like krit was
- 27:37Speaker 1: Here and return It Forever, it's kind of like when
- 27:40Speaker 1: NAS came out with Illmatic and it was written do
- 27:43Speaker 1: you remember like NAS could do no right if it wasn't,
- 27:47Speaker 1: Do you remember how long it's like, get it put on?
- 27:50Speaker 1: You were always I just feel like you have some
- 27:52Speaker 1: of the greatest bodies of work that we've heard in
- 27:54Speaker 1: the last twenty years. And so when you have those
- 27:57Speaker 1: bodies of work, even if the other shit is fired,
- 28:00Speaker 1: people are always gonna be like, but but the vent, yeah,
- 28:04Speaker 1: I mean, and and what you're at peace with it.
- 28:06Speaker 1: That's just what it is, what you obviously are just
- 28:08Speaker 1: just keep putting, just keep doing you and running it up.
- 28:11Speaker 1: It is crazy that I remember once QUB was came
- 28:13Speaker 1: out and just what happened next, and then returning Forever
- 28:17Speaker 1: twenty eleven, and just the movement behind the album. And
- 28:22Speaker 1: so for me it's like I get it. It still
- 28:24Speaker 1: was like first introductions too, though this was like, oh man,
- 28:27Speaker 1: it was new for what it was at the time.
- 28:29Speaker 1: I'm from Mississippi and so to be that country and
- 28:32Speaker 1: free and then it was just you know, it was
- 28:34Speaker 1: people first introduction with me. In twenty ten, I think
- 28:37Speaker 1: you won uh DJ's z DJ booth dot Net Album
- 28:42Speaker 1: or Mixtape of the Year, double x. I remember that
- 28:46Speaker 1: year specifically because it was you, it was krit was here,
- 28:49Speaker 1: it was trunk music, and it was I'm thinking of
- 28:52Speaker 1: I'm trying to think of that we've been doing this
- 28:54Speaker 1: for me, but just what a great fuck it like?
- 28:57Speaker 1: Can you do you remember how great it was to
- 28:59Speaker 1: just be like just for no red tape, let's just
- 29:03Speaker 1: drop music. I just as a fan, it's my favorite
- 29:05Speaker 1: era ever because there was just so much ship and
- 29:08Speaker 1: it was so easy to put people on the music
- 29:10Speaker 1: and they was there and they was waiting. Everything was
- 29:12Speaker 1: I don't know, but it was pre streaming still, right,
- 29:16Speaker 1: So there was this aspect people fuck with your music.
- 29:20Speaker 1: They had to go get it, they had to seek
- 29:22Speaker 1: it out, they had to download it, they had the receipt,
- 29:25Speaker 1: they had to get a virus on their laps on
- 29:27Speaker 1: her computer. For sure. Some of those drinks top up
- 29:33Speaker 1: crazy shit, like what the fuck that's funny, man, But yeah,
- 29:37Speaker 1: I've been blessed to be able to see both. Now
- 29:41Speaker 1: it's a transition, you know, trying to see how the
- 29:43Speaker 1: music game works in this era and how this feels
- 29:46Speaker 1: because content is king right. But for me, it's just
- 29:50Speaker 1: once again never losing the fact that I love when
- 29:53Speaker 1: people listen to my music in their car when they
- 29:55Speaker 1: go from point A to point B, and what that
- 29:56Speaker 1: means to them. So I'm never gonna just for the
- 30:00Speaker 1: of what's happening in the music as short, people on
- 30:02Speaker 1: what I bring to the table. This So this Girl
- 30:07Speaker 1: Talk project would be your second project in about a
- 30:09Speaker 1: month and some change. I hear you may or may
- 30:12Speaker 1: not already have something coming soon. Don't worry about okay,
- 30:17Speaker 1: But yeah, I mean come on, I mean, you've been
- 30:18Speaker 1: resting for a couple of years, right, I'm assuming you've
- 30:22Speaker 1: been working. I got a lot, I got a lot
- 30:24Speaker 1: of ship bro and then and then this is this,
- 30:26Speaker 1: This is the step in the right direction of me
- 30:28Speaker 1: staying more out on the front, doing more music because
- 30:31Speaker 1: people know me to do an album and then probably
- 30:33Speaker 1: disappear for a year or two. So now it's like, nah,
- 30:36Speaker 1: I'm gonna constantly drop this time, and I'm excited because
- 30:40Speaker 1: then you know, it's it's that they still get their turn.
- 30:42Speaker 1: Element of me, the growth of me into and branding
- 30:46Speaker 1: multi is very important because I got my label and
- 30:49Speaker 1: now it's like really trying to put artists out that
- 30:51Speaker 1: I that I deem that I want people to really hear.
- 30:53Speaker 1: Of course, some of those artists now I mean, well,
- 30:55Speaker 1: roll in the young lady singing on the album, and
- 30:58Speaker 1: her voice is amazing. Okay, you know what I'm saying.
- 31:01Speaker 1: And at this moment, I think just focusing and wanting
- 31:04Speaker 1: to work with her, and there was a couple of
- 31:07Speaker 1: artists men, but I don't want to you know, I
- 31:09Speaker 1: ain't put it. I ain't put it together yet for you.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Who was that dope ass singer from Atlanta that used
- 31:14Speaker 1: to be on Everyone Ship Sometimes she wouldn't even get featured. Nikia?
- 31:19Speaker 1: Was that her name sounds familiar? Does that sound right? Dutch? Nikia?
- 31:23Speaker 1: She was hard. I just think she was like on
- 31:25Speaker 1: hell she was on hell Ship. That's random tidbit. Let's
- 31:28Speaker 1: talk about team because I do feel like team is
- 31:30Speaker 1: so important in the music industry and I want to
- 31:33Speaker 1: just give some love to your guy. Dutch because has
- 31:35Speaker 1: been your running mate for a very long time. Yeah. Man,
- 31:38Speaker 1: the growth though, because Dutch started off as my tour manager,
- 31:43Speaker 1: so being out there on the road and actually kind
- 31:46Speaker 1: of putting up with how I was as an artist,
- 31:49Speaker 1: and then being able to be very influential with being
- 31:52Speaker 1: in the studio being around for those times, and then
- 31:56Speaker 1: getting to the point where like, yo, bro, manage me right,
- 31:59Speaker 1: and then this he would. And it's great too because
- 32:02Speaker 1: Dutch is his own entity now, right, you know what
- 32:05Speaker 1: I'm saying. It's like he is his own own thing.
- 32:07Speaker 1: So it's just dope to see the growth in me
- 32:09Speaker 1: and him, both not only me as an artist, but
- 32:11Speaker 1: him as a businessman. Has it been like, you know,
- 32:16Speaker 1: are you kind of like coming from two different eras
- 32:19Speaker 1: of music into the streaming era? What are the things
- 32:22Speaker 1: that you've kind of had to like, maybe, yeah, pint
- 32:27Speaker 1: your nose because you know, I think of TikTok. TikTok
- 32:30Speaker 1: is one of those things that we think of. It's like, man,
- 32:33Speaker 1: it's some kiddy ass shit. But I'm just starting to
- 32:35Speaker 1: notice like even the artists you would never think would
- 32:38Speaker 1: be on TikTok, it's kind of like you have to
- 32:41Speaker 1: be on TikTok. I mean it comes with the territory
- 32:43Speaker 1: of what we do. Yes, And it's very quick how
- 32:48Speaker 1: a record can take off on the right. It's become
- 32:50Speaker 1: a radio station within itself. And so you kind of
- 32:55Speaker 1: got a move of where the music is going right
- 32:57Speaker 1: and then to be gone for two years. I can't
- 33:00Speaker 1: be mad at people to pick up another form of
- 33:03Speaker 1: learning and finding out about artists, and it's it's going.
- 33:06Speaker 1: And I remember even a being something that was like
- 33:08Speaker 1: all you take a picture of your food. Oh, this
- 33:10Speaker 1: is what I'm wearing today, you know what I'm saying.
- 33:12Speaker 1: Like with Steals, this is like, man, you could just
- 33:15Speaker 1: be in your bed just talking to you. You know
- 33:17Speaker 1: what I'm saying. It totally removab smoking mirrors. It's crazy.
- 33:22Speaker 1: It's the most transparent. Uh well, fans and artists relationship
- 33:29Speaker 1: or dynamic is the most transparent it's ever been, Which
- 33:31Speaker 1: is why I feel like it's it's a lot harder
- 33:35Speaker 1: to fake the funck now you could buy you know, streams,
- 33:37Speaker 1: and I think the live show will pull the curtain
- 33:40Speaker 1: back on whether or not you got real. But in
- 33:42Speaker 1: terms of just like I think about R and B,
- 33:46Speaker 1: do you remember like us growing up every R and
- 33:48Speaker 1: B singer was a beautiful man with a six pack
- 33:50Speaker 1: and chiseled and had the perfect hair. And now what's
- 33:53Speaker 1: B malone in the weekend? You know what I'm saying,
- 33:56Speaker 1: it's it's and and but the music is so good
- 33:59Speaker 1: and and I think people are like, yo, I I
- 34:02Speaker 1: see through the product, because you know, those guys were products.
- 34:06Speaker 1: I mean, but the understanding that people want to see
- 34:10Speaker 1: and listen to people that look like that they could
- 34:12Speaker 1: relate to. They want to feel like they're yeah, yeah,
- 34:15Speaker 1: I mean, because we're definitely running to the understanding that
- 34:18Speaker 1: that particular individual or however they present themselves might not
- 34:22Speaker 1: be realistic to how you can present us. Yeah, like
- 34:24Speaker 1: Cisco with a leather jack abax jacket opened up with
- 34:27Speaker 1: a twelve pack and bleached hair dancing in the rain.
- 34:31Speaker 1: And I loved Cisco so respected. But I don't think
- 34:34Speaker 1: I wanted to die my heal silver at all. So
- 34:36Speaker 1: a lot of guys did. They did. My older brother did.
- 34:39Speaker 1: Can you imagine? Do you remember because of Cisco, we
- 34:42Speaker 1: all used to wear fitted hats with Chinese letters on them.
- 34:44Speaker 1: I had no idea what they said. You could have
- 34:47Speaker 1: the fitted hat and the Chinese letter and then on
- 34:49Speaker 1: the back it'd be the baseball team, what curly will
- 34:51Speaker 1: you probably do this? But the sideburns that was kind
- 34:54Speaker 1: of like, yeah, the genuine type burns. Yeah they yeah,
- 34:58Speaker 1: didn't do those though into those I feel like I
- 35:01Speaker 1: feel yeah, I do feel like. That's kind of the
- 35:04Speaker 1: positive thing that social media has done is it's kind
- 35:06Speaker 1: of like even the playing field in a sense where
- 35:08Speaker 1: like you don't have to be like you almost would
- 35:10Speaker 1: rather be more relatable and like I want to have
- 35:13Speaker 1: a beer with you and not fuck you. You know
- 35:16Speaker 1: what I'm saying, not me specifically, I'm just what the fuck? Yeah,
- 35:22Speaker 1: I feel what you're saying though. I mean, but it's
- 35:24Speaker 1: again is pulling the curtain bag. I think it's allowing
- 35:27Speaker 1: artists not only to be more transparent, but it's still
- 35:29Speaker 1: it's getting to that it's getting to being able to
- 35:32Speaker 1: show that I and I have anxiety. Oh this frustrates me.
- 35:34Speaker 1: Oh I don't like what's going on in my in
- 35:36Speaker 1: my deal or my career. So it's definitely giving people
- 35:40Speaker 1: more of that platform and not be so scared to
- 35:42Speaker 1: actually express their A lot of that's been happening and
- 35:46Speaker 1: they go in this is right there, Meek Mill NBA
- 35:49Speaker 1: young boy. I mean everyone has been being someone who's
- 35:54Speaker 1: kind of experienced all sides of the game. If there's
- 35:57Speaker 1: an up and cooming artist who's watching this, who might
- 35:59Speaker 1: have a little something going on, and labels always trying
- 36:02Speaker 1: to sign you, there's majors, there's many majors, there's you know,
- 36:06Speaker 1: it's just a distribution company whatever. Right would you suggest
- 36:11Speaker 1: someone go to major label route right now? I mean, well,
- 36:14Speaker 1: this depends on what they want in the beginning. Right
- 36:17Speaker 1: As an artist, I wanted to be played on the radio.
- 36:19Speaker 1: I wanted to be signed to a major because it's
- 36:21Speaker 1: just this grandiose thing about doing music. If they feel
- 36:26Speaker 1: that the deal is structured in a way that they
- 36:28Speaker 1: can still get the joy of being signed and it
- 36:31Speaker 1: be fair, then by all means do it. My personal
- 36:34Speaker 1: experience might not be like someone else's. I know a
- 36:36Speaker 1: lot of artists that are signed and they seem to
- 36:38Speaker 1: get a fair shake in it. They get to check,
- 36:40Speaker 1: they get the support, they do the late night shows,
- 36:42Speaker 1: and it seems to work. It didn't necessarily work for me, right,
- 36:46Speaker 1: and so I can't expect somebody to take my role
- 36:49Speaker 1: with it because this isn't easy, you know, it's definitely
- 36:52Speaker 1: the role. Let's travel you. It's like being it's like
- 36:54Speaker 1: being on a private airport. I talk about all this time.
- 36:56Speaker 1: It's like when you were a label. It's a huge airport,
- 37:00Speaker 1: planes leaving, you know, independent, you're you're at Burbank, you
- 37:04Speaker 1: get to walk right through. Yeah, but when it's when
- 37:07Speaker 1: the when the air is full, you can't take off.
- 37:09Speaker 1: This is true, and it's harder to get to some destinations.
- 37:13Speaker 1: You gotta you gotta connect. Yeah. So and for me
- 37:16Speaker 1: it's like once we figure it out. But it was
- 37:18Speaker 1: so weird. Once we left death Jam and we told
- 37:21Speaker 1: people that I was leaving, it was so many motherfuckers
- 37:23Speaker 1: They're like, bro, you saying dep jail. Yeah. I don't
- 37:26Speaker 1: think a lot of people knew that who were tied
- 37:28Speaker 1: to the sun was like, yeah, was with depth Jam
- 37:31Speaker 1: for six seven years. It was a minute and it's like, oh,
- 37:35Speaker 1: we didn't even know. It's so crazy. And it's it's
- 37:39Speaker 1: crazy too because like I think of like I just
- 37:41Speaker 1: don't know. I don't know. Man. As a fan, I
- 37:43Speaker 1: just was like, what the fuck is death Jam doing?
- 37:45Speaker 1: Like nothing like anything you like feature wise or like
- 37:48Speaker 1: all that ship. It was. There was some still some
- 37:51Speaker 1: great people we met there. And then even with me,
- 37:54Speaker 1: it was the understanding that I'm from the South. I'm
- 37:56Speaker 1: from a place that a lot of people haven't even been, right,
- 37:59Speaker 1: So when you're talking about trying to create a certain
- 38:02Speaker 1: kind of what's the word, I wanted to support in
- 38:05Speaker 1: a building where they seeing their favorite artists come through
- 38:08Speaker 1: all the time, right, And it was a lot of
- 38:10Speaker 1: young people, and yeah, they might fuck with me as
- 38:12Speaker 1: a person, but they weren't might have been into my music,
- 38:15Speaker 1: might not have knew about my music. They want to
- 38:17Speaker 1: promote for their favorite artists, right, And so you know,
- 38:20Speaker 1: you run into that, and then you get the situation
- 38:23Speaker 1: where the album come out, you go in the office
- 38:25Speaker 1: and everybody in the building playing your songs and you like,
- 38:28Speaker 1: I know good and damn well, y'all don't do this
- 38:30Speaker 1: every day, and so I mean, you appreciate them trying.
- 38:34Speaker 1: But we went out and we was We knew that
- 38:37Speaker 1: I had hard ticket sales, that I had support from
- 38:40Speaker 1: people because I was on the ground and we was
- 38:43Speaker 1: doing all the runs, meeting the DJs, and I'm very
- 38:45Speaker 1: hands on with how I interact with people, and so
- 38:48Speaker 1: that helped my career tremendously. Bro that it didn't matter
- 38:51Speaker 1: that we didn't have certain outlets and certain press and
- 38:54Speaker 1: push because we still was selling our shows. Correct me
- 38:58Speaker 1: if I'm wrong, because I don't remember. Remember if you
- 39:00Speaker 1: were on these albums, because I was we were talking
- 39:02Speaker 1: about this album earlier. Did Russ tap in with you
- 39:05Speaker 1: on any of the Chumps? Yeah, I'm up to make
- 39:10Speaker 1: sure I'm not. Yeah, I don't care. Shout out to
- 39:14Speaker 1: the homie for that because he gets busy too. Yeah.
- 39:17Speaker 1: I mean, he pretty much just grabbed like every rapper
- 39:19Speaker 1: that was like incredible in the world that would work
- 39:21Speaker 1: with fun with the fact that he was a total
- 39:23Speaker 1: told thing. It's like, and he's sending you his verse too,
- 39:27Speaker 1: and they take a lot to be like, all right,
- 39:28Speaker 1: this is what I did, and I'm totally comfortable with
- 39:30Speaker 1: you hearing what I did. A lot of people don't
- 39:32Speaker 1: do that, nah, because they want to be able to
- 39:34Speaker 1: be like I got out and I got No. He
- 39:37Speaker 1: was very confident with like, hey, I did what I
- 39:39Speaker 1: did here. Yeah. Shout out to Russ. Yeah, man, he's
- 39:45Speaker 1: he's doing his thing ship independently. Are you Are you
- 39:48Speaker 1: staying independent? Are you? Yeah? Man, a label can only
- 39:52Speaker 1: partner with my label. I'll never feelically signed to a major.
- 39:56Speaker 1: Smart move man. It's like I'm past that point. I
- 40:00Speaker 1: wouldn't even begin to know how to play that game.
- 40:02Speaker 1: How do you pick? Like? Because I mean, do you
- 40:05Speaker 1: do you link up with the distribute distributing partner or
- 40:07Speaker 1: do you do the straight tune core? Now BMG? BMG
- 40:10Speaker 1: is distributing. Yeah, that's dope. And it's one of them
- 40:13Speaker 1: situations where I work on the music, me and my
- 40:15Speaker 1: team feel comfortable with it, and then we dropped the album.
- 40:18Speaker 1: It's not like a go in have to play it
- 40:20Speaker 1: and get none. We think like we passed it. Ain't no,
- 40:24Speaker 1: ain't no performing on tables and ship did you ever
- 40:27Speaker 1: have never? Did? I want to say, did you ever
- 40:29Speaker 1: have never did it? You would have broke the table.
- 40:33Speaker 1: I'm just letting you know. But I wouldn't go to
- 40:35Speaker 1: do this. How Like your live show has always been
- 40:38Speaker 1: one of the more special ones in hip hop because
- 40:40Speaker 1: I feel like, if you're on stage and it's just
- 40:42Speaker 1: you and the DJ and no bullshit going on, you're
- 40:46Speaker 1: killing it. You're gonna turn up. I mean, I learned
- 40:48Speaker 1: from Banner. David Banner David Banner. David Banner. Then yellow
- 40:53Speaker 1: Wolf was go crazy. Yellow Wolf was special. I mean
- 40:56Speaker 1: he still is special, go crazy on stage, and so
- 40:59Speaker 1: it's one of even when it was old, like south
- 41:01Speaker 1: By Southwest, it was climbing up on ship just jumping
- 41:03Speaker 1: off of those early south By shows were like, uh, yeah,
- 41:06Speaker 1: we legends things. The legends are made of animal house Bro.
- 41:09Speaker 1: We was wild and Magnill all of us is crazy
- 41:12Speaker 1: on stage. Bro. Those are the days where you could
- 41:14Speaker 1: actually like you could go to south By and leave
- 41:17Speaker 1: the deal yep, because that's what That's what happened with Wolf. Yeah, yeah,
- 41:19Speaker 1: I mean sh the Wolf. It will I think, I
- 41:23Speaker 1: think Stalley got Kendrick, I think currency everybody we went
- 41:26Speaker 1: down there and then yeah, yeah, I don't know what
- 41:29Speaker 1: it is now. I'm gonna go next week. Unfortunately I'm
- 41:31Speaker 1: gonna go. But oh well, yeah, damn it is next week.
- 41:34Speaker 1: I haven't been in a long time. Don't go, I'm going.
- 41:37Speaker 1: I'm going because I have to go. But you know
- 41:39Speaker 1: what those days are like, Oh yeah, sixteen hours on
- 41:42Speaker 1: your feet walking around hot just nothing like trying to
- 41:45Speaker 1: find a taxi cab at four in the morning from
- 41:47Speaker 1: the Elmore parking because if you rent a car and
- 41:51Speaker 1: you got a hotel rooms, literally what hell was made of?
- 41:55Speaker 1: South By Southwest is the worst ship ever. I so little.
- 42:03Speaker 1: You know, it's cool. I had fun, but I also
- 42:06Speaker 1: know that, like I walked four and a half miles
- 42:09Speaker 1: at three thirty in the morning because I couldn't get
- 42:11Speaker 1: a fucking cab yo. And like you said, sometimes your
- 42:17Speaker 1: hotel room is off in the cut far. So when
- 42:21Speaker 1: you're done doing eleven random, I mean, oh you all
- 42:25Speaker 1: you hearing all the rapping you're going there? It gets
- 42:28Speaker 1: it gets crazy. I remember when Sprite. You remember that
- 42:32Speaker 1: Sprite had first popped off. It was called it was
- 42:34Speaker 1: like Wheezy. Yeah, it was with it. You know how
- 42:37Speaker 1: many people thought it was a new artist because it
- 42:39Speaker 1: was the back of Lil Wayne's here. But it was
- 42:42Speaker 1: like crazy was saying do Weezy? Everywhere? It was like,
- 42:45Speaker 1: but who is this new rapper? That? It took some
- 42:47Speaker 1: myself with bro south By is uh good times. I
- 42:52Speaker 1: hope it it somehow regains it. I was talking to
- 42:55Speaker 1: the homie, Brian Hobbs, who works there, and I was
- 42:58Speaker 1: I was like, I hope that Brian's good guy, and
- 43:02Speaker 1: I hope that the two year break readjusted because it
- 43:07Speaker 1: got to the point where it was super organic and
- 43:09Speaker 1: it truly fell special. And then like this, there was
- 43:13Speaker 1: a Dorido stage with Lady Gaga. Yeah, once he got
- 43:17Speaker 1: to that point, it was I'm like, what the fuck
- 43:19Speaker 1: is Lady gag got doing here? This is not for her.
- 43:22Speaker 1: The labels got a hold of it, that PEPSI got
- 43:25Speaker 1: a hold of it. You couldn't get it. The stage
- 43:29Speaker 1: game changed, and then now everyone's got a stack. Oh
- 43:32Speaker 1: my god, everything bro. I posted on on on ig
- 43:35Speaker 1: the other day that I was going to be at
- 43:37Speaker 1: south By I got at least thirty d ms. Yo,
- 43:40Speaker 1: come to my stage, come to my stage, or YO,
- 43:43Speaker 1: how much to get on your stage? I'm like, dude,
- 43:45Speaker 1: first of all, are up and coming artists. If you're
- 43:48Speaker 1: watching this and someone tries to charge you to get
- 43:50Speaker 1: on their shitty south By Southwest stage, tell them to
- 43:53Speaker 1: go fuck themselves, lord, because it's not gonna do anything
- 43:59Speaker 1: for your fucking career. Nah, you might as well take
- 44:02Speaker 1: all that money in buy YouTube ads for the last
- 44:04Speaker 1: music video area Jesus in the day, because you're gonna
- 44:07Speaker 1: spend that money and you're gonna perform for sixty stinky
- 44:10Speaker 1: ass people who don't even want to be there. They're
- 44:12Speaker 1: just there because it's the only thing they could get
- 44:13Speaker 1: into at the time. You really don't want to go.
- 44:15Speaker 1: I don't wait. What don't you got rookie cards over there?
- 44:20Speaker 1: What do we do it? Oh? That's his ship. You
- 44:22Speaker 1: got basketball cards? Yeah? What do we got? We got
- 44:25Speaker 1: some drama rants over there? He won't he looking for?
- 44:30Speaker 1: Is do you collect basketball cards? Nah? That's that. That
- 44:34Speaker 1: would be a very expensive habit for me. Also, if
- 44:37Speaker 1: you would have started, like at the beginning of the pandemic,
- 44:39Speaker 1: a pretty fruitful habit. Yeah. But I mean, and I'm like,
- 44:42Speaker 1: I'm a gamer to some degree. What do you play? Man?
- 44:45Speaker 1: I play NBA two k MLB to show been my
- 44:48Speaker 1: ship for the past year and some change. I've been
- 44:50Speaker 1: playing the fuck out that game because it's I'm a
- 44:53Speaker 1: baseball player at hard and then I'm playing this ship
- 44:55Speaker 1: called Elden Ring right now. My son just told me
- 44:57Speaker 1: today is ridiculous. He said it was what's the name
- 45:02Speaker 1: Elder Scrolls? Was that the name of that one? Bro?
- 45:04Speaker 1: He says, it's like the new version of that bro.
- 45:06Speaker 1: I've never played a game like this before. But that
- 45:08Speaker 1: ship is so inner like it was like some medieval
- 45:11Speaker 1: time dragon. I don't know how to fuck they came
- 45:14Speaker 1: up with the idea to create something like this, Bro,
- 45:17Speaker 1: it's just so will fire as fire as fuck. Bro,
- 45:20Speaker 1: it's taking up too much of my time, right, you're
- 45:22Speaker 1: gonna get on Twitch. I tried to, but it's something
- 45:25Speaker 1: I'm so competitive, so they potly be like, hey, bro,
- 45:28Speaker 1: you don't have to win on Twitch. You just also
- 45:30Speaker 1: could just talk shit. I mean see, I'm like fucking
- 45:33Speaker 1: If I fuck up, I'm like pissed, and then I'm
- 45:35Speaker 1: trying to be like nice at shit. You don't want
- 45:37Speaker 1: to get you don't want to get canceled like that
- 45:38Speaker 1: dude on the Heat. Bro, do you remember the guy
- 45:40Speaker 1: in the Heat who got smoked and he said, he
- 45:43Speaker 1: said some crazy Jewish ship and see Myers Leonard And
- 45:48Speaker 1: they released him and he's still not in the league
- 45:51Speaker 1: and he's the seventh. He's like a six foot ten
- 45:53Speaker 1: white guy who can hit threes. He's done oh ye
- 45:55Speaker 1: off of Twitch. And in the moments you get pissed
- 45:58Speaker 1: off and just say, did you see Snoop rage quit
- 46:01Speaker 1: a man? Yeah, I've seen him, but it's it's real though,
- 46:05Speaker 1: and I mean for I also don't want if some
- 46:07Speaker 1: stuff I do with my free time is just for me,
- 46:10Speaker 1: it's for you. But that being said, T Pains making
- 46:12Speaker 1: an extremely amount of money. He's crushing, but he's crushing
- 46:16Speaker 1: and it works though. But T Pain is very He
- 46:19Speaker 1: don't give a He's kind of made for twitch. Yeah,

- 46:27Speaker 1: but I'm supposed to. It's a good I didn't need
- 46:29Speaker 1: to hit the home. Yeah, Pain's a good guy. Yeah, yo,

- 47:20Speaker 1: is all listen, man, put the odd socks on your
- 47:23Speaker 1: ass cheeks and think me later. One thing I like
- 47:25Speaker 1: about t Pain is like he's kind of like unapologetically
- 47:29Speaker 1: himself whether or not. It's like he goes against whatever
- 47:35Speaker 1: popular like popular belief, Like he's just just like, yoah,
- 47:37Speaker 1: this is how I feel. And another cool thing about
- 47:39Speaker 1: paying is like you're like, no matter what, you're just
- 47:43Speaker 1: one record away again always. I mean, but this is
- 47:46Speaker 1: the thing he sees wrote so many he records just
- 47:50Speaker 1: I mean, he's one of the greatest hit makers ever,
- 47:53Speaker 1: and so it's kind of like, you know, to see
- 47:55Speaker 1: him also, to see a lot of these artists transform
- 47:58Speaker 1: out of just making music and actually find in a
- 48:00Speaker 1: place where they the personality starts to shine, I think
- 48:04Speaker 1: is kind of a great step moving forward for a
- 48:07Speaker 1: lot of artists because it's the thing rap. We've yet
- 48:09Speaker 1: to see a rapper retire except Joe Budden apparently, I mean,
- 48:14Speaker 1: but just to be like all I'm done. Yeah, because
- 48:18Speaker 1: jay Z retired and then came out with Kingdom Coming.
- 48:20Speaker 1: We're like lifetime achievement award kind of the game, right,
- 48:24Speaker 1: So we what is the transition for artists? I think
- 48:26Speaker 1: all of us do have a voice beyond it just
- 48:28Speaker 1: being on beat, and so I think looking at people
- 48:32Speaker 1: like Joe Budden on looking at a tea pain even
- 48:34Speaker 1: with Keller Mike's diend a good job smoke, this is
- 48:37Speaker 1: doing right now, It's like, okay, you know, get to
- 48:40Speaker 1: a point where were really talking versus being an instrumental behind. Yeah,
- 48:44Speaker 1: like Action Bronson I think was early too. That's delicious.
- 48:48Speaker 1: Shout out to him too. That guy. Yeah, yeah, he
- 48:51Speaker 1: looks like one of those guys. Do you remember back
- 48:53Speaker 1: in the day on the Religious Channel they used to
- 48:56Speaker 1: tear phone books. He looks like one of those little
- 49:00Speaker 1: of those guys used to like tear books and Jesus
- 49:02Speaker 1: go to your school and they came in school, they
- 49:05Speaker 1: would tear a deck of cards and it'd be like
- 49:08Speaker 1: the power of the Lord. Yeah. Yeah, Action Bronson is
- 49:12Speaker 1: that motherfucker. I feel like he could tear a phone book.
- 49:14Speaker 1: I definitely peeped his his trajectory. Man, I'm proud of
- 49:17Speaker 1: the Homi And I think that's another thing too, that
- 49:19Speaker 1: if nothing else, if music can't give us the opportunity
- 49:21Speaker 1: to completely change our lifestyles in the healthy is ways possible,
- 49:24Speaker 1: and a lot of us between the partying and the
- 49:27Speaker 1: fucking it off on tour years and years. At some
- 49:30Speaker 1: point it can't sup to you, right, You've been in
- 49:33Speaker 1: the game long enough to have peers that have come
- 49:36Speaker 1: and gone as far as musically, yeah uh, and unfortunately
- 49:41Speaker 1: in actually being here in physical form, you know, I
- 49:46Speaker 1: think of just like some of the artists that came
- 49:48Speaker 1: along the way with you that aren't rapping anymore, we
- 49:52Speaker 1: don't here from in your opinion, who's like maybe the
- 49:56Speaker 1: biggest what if of all time or maybe the biggest
- 49:58Speaker 1: artists where you were like, you know, maybe that you
- 50:01Speaker 1: don't think they got the chance or or just things
- 50:03Speaker 1: didn't necessarily work out how you had hoped for them.
- 50:07Speaker 1: I'll give you mine first to break the ice. I'm
- 50:09Speaker 1: gonna say, peel peel, definitely p I double l Man Peel. Yeah,
- 50:14Speaker 1: Pink City. Damn this what's the homie name from Mississippi?
- 50:19Speaker 1: Broh the homie that went on tour with us. I
- 50:22Speaker 1: can't think of the name my brain just uh Tito.
- 50:26Speaker 1: Tito Lopez was so fire jamming, bro and he was
- 50:31Speaker 1: like was in he an aftermath? Yeah, I think he
- 50:34Speaker 1: was riding over there. And Tito Lopez did a freestyle
- 50:36Speaker 1: for my mixtape and at that we lived in the
- 50:39Speaker 1: same neighborhood in Las Vegas for a little bit. Yeah,
- 50:42Speaker 1: and the homie I don't think got a fish shape,
- 50:44Speaker 1: you know, Tito Lopez was so cold. Hey x V
- 50:48Speaker 1: was hm hmm. Zero heroes hmm. He went to Warner
- 50:56Speaker 1: Brothers and man, I don't know what they do. It
- 50:59Speaker 1: just it's just one of them things, man, when you
- 51:02Speaker 1: they the excitement of something. Charles Hamilton, Ah, yeah, fuck man. Yeah.
- 51:08Speaker 1: Those Green Lanterns, the Green Lantern mixtapes are crazy. It's
- 51:12Speaker 1: just going to the label sometimes that's that's like weighing them.
- 51:15Speaker 1: Sometimes that's when the hard work really starts. That's when
- 51:18Speaker 1: it starts, not the when you independent, because you it's
- 51:21Speaker 1: like when you move into promotion your music and it's
- 51:24Speaker 1: and you independent, you don't even think about it as
- 51:27Speaker 1: much as like, oh, it's just here. My CD is
- 51:29Speaker 1: just excitement. Listen, boo boom boom. Once you got the
- 51:32Speaker 1: ear and the support, that's when the pressure kind of
- 51:36Speaker 1: takes a different kind of hole, because every song you're
- 51:39Speaker 1: trying to make sure, every song is just the ship,
- 51:42Speaker 1: and it could take you totally out of your creative space.
- 51:44Speaker 1: I think to like, not everyone maybe understands how hard
- 51:49Speaker 1: it is to be an artist, that your entire livelihood
- 51:54Speaker 1: is based on a subjective thing. And sometimes the subjected
- 51:59Speaker 1: that that's a objective thing is not. It's not the
- 52:02Speaker 1: gatekeeper of whether or not it's good enough. Isn't the
- 52:05Speaker 1: people as much as it's whoever the fuck is in
- 52:07Speaker 1: the boardroom. You know what I'm saying, Like, I think
- 52:10Speaker 1: it's like a side to actually give you the support necessary.
- 52:13Speaker 1: We're talking about literal art, you know what I'm saying. Like,
- 52:16Speaker 1: and yeah, I think of like someone like XV and
- 52:18Speaker 1: like I'm like, yo, this dude drop classic music and
- 52:21Speaker 1: for whatever reason, just Warner Brothers, just man, I can't
- 52:25Speaker 1: like so. And even in the process of putting the
- 52:28Speaker 1: music out and going through that, when you're done with
- 52:30Speaker 1: the album and what that means, and it's like you
- 52:33Speaker 1: become the album and a certain like you live it,
- 52:36Speaker 1: you know, even with the tapes, it's like you could
- 52:38Speaker 1: do that and breathe and then you're working on something else.
- 52:40Speaker 1: When you do your album, you got to that's what
- 52:42Speaker 1: you put out. You gotta own that forever for having
- 52:45Speaker 1: some change. You tour, everything is surrounded around this one
- 52:48Speaker 1: creative project and it could take you a year and
- 52:51Speaker 1: a half to make it, and it takes people forty
- 52:53Speaker 1: five minutes to listen to have an opinion and be
- 52:55Speaker 1: like I don't like it. That's you, Like I just
- 52:59Speaker 1: spent that should just happened with Roddy rich Trotti. Rich
- 53:01Speaker 1: took two years to put his out and people just
- 53:03Speaker 1: hated it. And it's like he deleted his Instagram. It's
- 53:06Speaker 1: like what do you create? It's like what do you
- 53:08Speaker 1: do it? Like? How do you how? It's hard to
- 53:10Speaker 1: move forward because did you gotta live it? You in
- 53:12Speaker 1: it though, You're just out now and you just gotta
- 53:16Speaker 1: wait till you can't unrelease it. You can't you can't
- 53:18Speaker 1: unrelease it. Bro. Yeah, was there a point in time
- 53:21Speaker 1: where you felt like you were getting maybe I wouldn't
- 53:24Speaker 1: say depressed, but maybe you were just down and out
- 53:27Speaker 1: when it came to just everything, man, that that that
- 53:30Speaker 1: that could, that could be yesterday. You know. It's one
- 53:33Speaker 1: of those things where I've been doing this also for
- 53:35Speaker 1: so long, and that sometimes I have to be like
- 53:38Speaker 1: what else in my life? Like what's next for me?
- 53:41Speaker 1: You know, I've spent you know, my teenage years up
- 53:44Speaker 1: until this point with the one focal idea of I
- 53:47Speaker 1: do music, and I love this art form, but I
- 53:50Speaker 1: think I started to give it a certain kind of
- 53:52Speaker 1: power over my life and how I feel about myself
- 53:57Speaker 1: and anxiety and if I'm not doing music and I'm
- 54:00Speaker 1: not doing anything and that's not true, it's true. And
- 54:04Speaker 1: so the two years to take off, not drop an album,
- 54:07Speaker 1: Drop an album, and you go right back into that
- 54:09Speaker 1: with what y'all think about it, and then that can
- 54:13Speaker 1: just dial you all the way down into a depression
- 54:15Speaker 1: anxiety because if people don't like it, you gotta live
- 54:19Speaker 1: with that. I mean, look, I think at the end
- 54:21Speaker 1: of the day, man, you gotta know if you're gonna
- 54:25Speaker 1: put something out that you're you're just okay with whatever
- 54:28Speaker 1: comes with it. That takes time. Most artists. We never
- 54:31Speaker 1: find that comfort because for you to come out two
- 54:34Speaker 1: years and drop a project like this one, that's a risk.
- 54:38Speaker 1: But it's also like, you gotta know this is some
- 54:40Speaker 1: good this is good like and that's but see you
- 54:43Speaker 1: just said it, but it's subjective. I know it's jamming.
- 54:46Speaker 1: I fucking know. I'm like, man, I put a lot,
- 54:48Speaker 1: and I know this because I wouldn't want to listen
- 54:50Speaker 1: to it if it wasn't. But that don't take away
- 54:52Speaker 1: from what somebody else might want or hear wont from me? Right?
- 54:55Speaker 1: And then most where's my sub part eleven? Yeah? Right?
- 54:59Speaker 1: But most of it is a part of whatever point
- 55:03Speaker 1: in their life they because that's the kind of music
- 55:06Speaker 1: I really got to start making. It wasn't about Oh
- 55:09Speaker 1: this the kind of kick drauma snary everybody using. I'm
- 55:11Speaker 1: using that. This is kind of how I had. Oh
- 55:13Speaker 1: this the flow, this the tempo, I'm gonna do that.
- 55:16Speaker 1: I don't do that with my music. I'm like, oh,
- 55:17Speaker 1: I'm gonna make a song about a breakup, and in
- 55:21Speaker 1: a kind of way where I'm trying to forgive myself
- 55:24Speaker 1: for doing wrong because that's what I go through. That's
- 55:26Speaker 1: why I've experienced that in life and it needs to
- 55:28Speaker 1: be heard, you know, and despite what people may feel
- 55:31Speaker 1: about it in the moment, if they go through a breakup,
- 55:33Speaker 1: at least they know they can relate to me. Yeah.
- 55:36Speaker 1: I think the red I think everyone's gone. I mean,
- 55:37Speaker 1: for the most part, everyone's gone through something like that,
- 55:39Speaker 1: and the relatability of that is you know, a lot
- 55:42Speaker 1: more like timeless. Yeah, that'll be there forever. Yeah. So
- 55:47Speaker 1: did this album? Was there a specific relationship that happened
- 55:51Speaker 1: that all? Or was it just an accumulation of having
- 55:55Speaker 1: to go back and look at whatever patterns I have
- 55:57Speaker 1: and the excitement when you first get with some body,
- 56:00Speaker 1: then when you get comfortable and then you start questioning
- 56:03Speaker 1: how far this relationship is going to go? And then
- 56:06Speaker 1: that happened. I feel like, you know, there's always that
- 56:08Speaker 1: process in a relationship. You pretty much just kind of
- 56:11Speaker 1: nailed it. And the thing is is, once you get
- 56:13Speaker 1: to that weird space of like past the comfortable, if
- 56:18Speaker 1: you can make it through that, then you got something.
- 56:20Speaker 1: Then you got something, yeah, and you and the album
- 56:23Speaker 1: is literally that. But being comfortable with the experience, whether
- 56:29Speaker 1: it was good or bad, learning from the experience. That's
- 56:31Speaker 1: why the record all the time I spent the idea
- 56:34Speaker 1: of I spent so much time gaining material things and
- 56:37Speaker 1: wanting this, and it didn't really change the narrative of
- 56:41Speaker 1: what love is and how we could blossom or I
- 56:44Speaker 1: could it could die, but growing from that and like, well,
- 56:47Speaker 1: at least I loved it all and tying it all
- 56:51Speaker 1: back in with more than roses at the end, which
- 56:53Speaker 1: is despite what we deal with in life, we interact
- 56:55Speaker 1: with each other, We build and communicate and we need
- 56:58Speaker 1: to we need community. So there it is the rest
- 57:02Speaker 1: of you. I mean, obviously, tours happened in April twenty second. Man,
- 57:05Speaker 1: I'm getting you excited to go together for that now, yeah,
- 57:08Speaker 1: you very excited and terrified to be in front of
- 57:10Speaker 1: all those people. No one's even wearing masks. That fucking
- 57:14Speaker 1: Amicron is gonna be lurking. Boy. Hey, well, you know
- 57:16Speaker 1: what's crazy is I haven't heard anybody in the last
- 57:18Speaker 1: couple of weeks get COVID. Hey, but look, you know,
- 57:21Speaker 1: I'm just a couple of weeks ago, everyone everyone and
- 57:24Speaker 1: their mom had the ship, and I feel like the
- 57:25Speaker 1: last week and a half or two, I haven't heard
- 57:27Speaker 1: I haven't seen a lot of people saying I'm hot in.
- 57:29Speaker 1: I caught this ship Thanksgiving of last year. Bro. That
- 57:33Speaker 1: ain't nothing. Nobody want Amicron or Delta or whatever kind
- 57:37Speaker 1: just covid. I caught that ship and it didn't It wasn't.
- 57:40Speaker 1: It wasn't. Well, I had a light whatever. Did you've
- 57:42Speaker 1: axx that thing up? Huh? Did you ax that thing up?
- 57:45Speaker 1: As juvenile said, huh did you see the juvenile video? Huh? Yeah,
- 57:50Speaker 1: I saw the video. I know. You know I'm with
- 57:53Speaker 1: Rogers Roger in United, Yeah, uh yeah, I'm you know.
- 58:01Speaker 1: That was not fucking with Aaron Rodgers. I mean, come on, man,
- 58:04Speaker 1: he I mean, I'm not gonna He pumped fake, He
- 58:07Speaker 1: pumped fake the fuck out of he said, yeah, I'm
- 58:09Speaker 1: mim United. It was like that up on the spot
- 58:13Speaker 1: thoughts on the fucking spot. But actually he got over
- 58:17Speaker 1: it quick. They still talk about my homie Kyrie Irving like,
- 58:20Speaker 1: I mean, Kyrie to me was like, I'm not doing it.
- 58:23Speaker 1: He just was like, hey, but that shows me that
- 58:27Speaker 1: when you time and you do it, you great at
- 58:29Speaker 1: what you do, that they'll they'll have just the situation,
- 58:32Speaker 1: of course they will. And the asinine part of it
- 58:35Speaker 1: is that if you play for a different team and
- 58:38Speaker 1: you go to the Nets stadium, you can play. But
- 58:41Speaker 1: if you play for the Net and you're not vaccinated.
- 58:43Speaker 1: But if you if you aren't vaccinated and you play
- 58:45Speaker 1: for the Nets, you can't play. I'm like, but you
- 58:48Speaker 1: still basically still playing around everybody anyway, he's practicing with it.
- 58:52Speaker 1: I don't understand any of it. The Kyrie thing. He
- 58:55Speaker 1: just put fifty up against the Hornets last night, got
- 58:57Speaker 1: to wait the ball. He was out here, like, the
- 59:00Speaker 1: only thing they're gonna hit a snag is if they
- 59:03Speaker 1: they end up running into the Raptors in that playing game,
- 59:05Speaker 1: because and the Raptors play if they play in Toronto,
- 59:09Speaker 1: Kyrie can't play there. Oh ship Canada. So that because
- 59:14Speaker 1: right now they're the eight seed, like the worst the
- 59:17Speaker 1: second they've lost because vin they've been terrible. So you're
- 59:25Speaker 1: a basketball fan, Yeah, I haven't gave an opportunity to
- 59:27Speaker 1: dive into it this much. I know that you don't
- 59:31Speaker 1: have basketball You don't have stacks of basketball cards. No,
- 59:33Speaker 1: I don't. But see, I also just on deck if
- 59:35Speaker 1: I'm a fan of players, So Lebron is definitely you
- 59:38Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, Lebron your favorite player? Yes, right now,
- 59:40Speaker 1: I will say that definitely. Yeah, he's my favorite player ever.
- 59:44Speaker 1: And to see the work he puts in every night,
- 59:47Speaker 1: just to he put a fifty six the other night. Bro,
- 59:49Speaker 1: and its year nineteen, That's what I'm saying, Bro. And
- 59:52Speaker 1: the and to still being a situation where you, hey,
- 59:55Speaker 1: what team was that against? No, what team was it against? Oh?
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: The Warriors? It was against the Warriors. That's crazy. But
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: did they you see his hat? Okay? Okay? Did the
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: Lakers win though? Because they won? Oh? They won? Okay? Yeah,
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: all they won. I'll tell you hasn't been winning a
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: lot of lately. Fucking Warriors. They fell out of that
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: three seed. Oh yeah, the Grizzlies are the two seed
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: right now? You think it's Cuzy was the one seed?
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: The Phoenix fucking Suns. Yeah, they going crazy. Charles Barkley's
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: behind you. He's proud. Okay, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: How do you feel about Devin Booker from Mississippi? So
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: is he from Mississippi? Mississippi? He's from Race Rammers from
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: Devin Booker. I thought he was from Michigan. He played
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: high school in Michigan. You know, Mississippi. You mean tell me.
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: The same city in Mississippi produced Race Rammer and Devin Booker. Yeah,
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: this is amazing. This might be the greatest in the
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: country because that's arguably the best rap duo since Mob
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: Deep and Devin Booger's. I mean, he's crushing it. He's
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: just an angel sent from God to say, Phoenix Suns basketball.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: So I forgot this spot. It's crazy you ain't even
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: there no more. Yeah, I mean I'm there once. I'm
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: there once a month. I'm there one month you'd be
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: turning up and yeah, I'm still waiting on Mississippi to
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: get a basketball team. I don't know if that's ever
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: gonna That ship should happen, though, Bro, I don't know.
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: You know, there's this stick, you know, grown up to
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: talk about. You know what it is grown up? As
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: a little kid, I rented Burning Mississippi from the library,
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: and ever since then, I just thought mississippis No. I mean, well,
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: that's that's everywhere. That was with Matthew McConaughey and Samuel Jackson.
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: Do you remember that movie Time to Kill or No
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: Time to Kill? Wasn't that in Mississippi? I don't know
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: it was in Mississippi, right, stop. Look, it's all good.
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: That had got Mississippi Massala. That was a good movie.
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: I don't know what the fuck is Denzel Washington. See'll
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: have to find there was a burning Mississippi. Ain't worried
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: about that. And then there was time. I think a
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: time see, And that's the problem is not what people
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: think it that's all I think. I'm like you. So
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: when I lived in Tampa, because I lived in Tampa,
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: I mean I saw you a bunch when I was
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: in Tampa, and I remember we drove me and my boys.
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: They helped me move to Tampa. And you know, all
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: my friends are people of color. So we're driving through
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: uh and and we stop in Houston and they tell us.
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: They're like, hey, there's this area of East Texas. You
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: do not stop for anything. It is I think we
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: know they're like yo, they're openly racist. There's billboards. It
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: is like the clan like head viter it starts with
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: a V. Yeah. See it's everywhere. And I googled this
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: ship and it's literally they're they're they're telling you keep
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: driving on boards like it's fucking crazy. I wonder who
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: won Vita in the twenty twenty election. Who do you
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: think who do you think took it? You think too,
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: I'm just curious, who do you think took East Texas?
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: Lord geez, who in that district? Lord Joe Byron? I know, no, man,
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: but Mississippi is not what people think, at least I mean,
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: and if people don't like you, you know it. And
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: it ain't no ain't no pump, ain't no pump. Fake.
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: With that, it was having to get used to people
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: not liking me but pretending they did when I went
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: everywhere else. It's Deon Sanders, the best thing to happen
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: to Mississippi since Big crit When it comes to Jackson
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: State football team, I would say, so he is crushing it.
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: He's a couple of toes short right now. He had
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: a couple of toes amputated yesterday. Yeah, you know, he's
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: been riding around that scooter because of it's late. So
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: I guess there was a complication with the surgeries and
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: that amputated two of his toes. God damn. The fact
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: he's able to recruit the players he's recruiting to Jackson.
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: It's gonna change. It's crazy and it should be. I mean,
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: but these not only our houses, but It's just good
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: to see these schools start get some kind of recognition.
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: I just hope he has like another five years there,
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: because anybody is gonna come along one of these major
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: schools Florida State, uh or if the right NFL drop.
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: Imagine if the Cowboys fire Mike McCarthy, They're gonna offer
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: Deon Sanders a coaching position. Amazing. So it's just whether
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: or not he's like, nah, I need to build a
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: legacy here first, because if he leaves it, there's you know,
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: he brought. He's bringing a lot to that situation. It is.
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: I mean, but I would wonder if he would even
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: want to do that, That's what I'm saying. And he's primetime,
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: he's rich already. Yeah, so I think he's got rap albums. Yeah,
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: I'd be surprised. I mean, it seems like just a
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: whole nother rejuvenation for him being around the college kids
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: and working on the campus. I can't imagine the pressure
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: of being an NFL coach versus when you at the
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: college and the band. It's just a whole nother Are
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: you a football guy, ah, kind of more of a
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: baseball guy. A baseball guy, would you say baseball is
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: your favorite sport. That's what I played, So you like
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: because baseball is a terrible thing to watch them? But
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: do you watch baseball? How about that? Every so often?
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: I feel like it's a good thing to just have
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: on in the background. You throw it on and then watch. Lately,
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: I've been watching just the MLB network, Bro, And then
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: you watch them because they played the old game? Did
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: they pay you no watching? I mean like they have
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: games with Ernie Banks and like that, and you can
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: watch like Joe Morgan and this shit looks crazy. I
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: remember seeing me so get Yeah, yeah, they documented was crazy.
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: I hope they bring that ship was fire. I hope
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: they bring steroids back. Bro. They hitting home runs again.
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: They need roids, Bro, They but they hit these pictures.
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: Too many strikeouts happening in baseball. I mean, but but
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: they like, Bro, they hitting home and there's a what's
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: it a lockout? What is it called? Yeah? They ain't started. Yeah,
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: but I still got the video games. Have you ever
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: gone to spring training? No? I wanted to try out though,
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: for baseball. I wanted to try out for the Braids.
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: I want to be on some rudy ship, you know.
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: Will Ferrell did it, Oh for real? He got onto
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: a spring training team. They let him play for like
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: a week. Yeah, they fooled me because I didn't know
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: that was fake. I was like ships there. I literally
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: wanted to try out and then play one game and
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: then retire. On some you just want to be able
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: to say I got my own jersey. But it's kind
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: of like with cold you want to walk out and play. Though.
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: Yeah you want to, you want to go, but just
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: the thing, bro, they throw and they like, we actually
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: went to one of the games, bro, and they throwing
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: that ball so fucking hard. Bro, What's what's your position
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: when you play? I was a catcher, short stop, then
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: I was in left field. I got so you just
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: played everything. I was a picture too though. I through
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: three quarters. Yeah, what was the fastest ball you ever threw?
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: That's pretty fucking fast. Yeah. So but I I stopped
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: and once I once I made my first five hundred dollars,
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: all beats, I was like, I don't know baseball because
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: for me, I wasn't gonna go straight pro. It's gonna
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: be the college. It's gonna be single double A. It's
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: a struggle. I mean, you could I could have been
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: doing I could have been in Single A or Double
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: A right now, still still trying to get called up.
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: You see that ship all the time. You'll be watching
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: a baseball game and they'll be like, eleven year triple
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: A veteran, first time in the major leagues. I got
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: an ICE's knees and all this. Fuck yeah, and then
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: you've been and then you know, that's a different kind
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: of grind chick playing in montor League. Yeah. Different check.
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: It's like being a w NBA player. Yeah, man, my god,
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: no bro, what's that? That's first pay? But they just
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: first pages. Try to fix that now because I sure hope. Yeah,
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: they deserve way more because the wm A players getting
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: fun and they go hard. Though. I feel so bad
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: for them because it's like I just saw something that
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: somebody's signing bonus was more than the entire w NBA's
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: salaries combined, every employee. That don't make no sense. It's
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: wild because you in order. Brittany Griner, she was on
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: her way to Russia because that's where she has to
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: go to play to make money. They were paying her
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: a million dollars to play in the Russian league, so
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: in the off season she gets paid a million bucks
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: for the for the season in Russia. Yeah, it's definitely
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: unfair though, Bro, I'm like, how does Diana Tarassi? How
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: do I make more money than Diana Tarassi? How is
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: that even possible? It's Diana Rock She's the greatest female
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: basketb player of all time, She's the female Lebron. They
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: they better. Yeah, it's been a yeah because again that
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: the women's soccer team didn't cash out there? Got them right?
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: Are you a big enough Lebron fan to purchase his shoes? Yes,
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: because I have so many pairs of Lebron Yeah, I
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: could definitely do that. I got those, the Miami ones,
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: the devices, Yeah, was hard. They've been so I know
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: how old I am now because all the Lebron's I
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: used to buy are now on their ten year anniversary,
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: so they're re releasing them. So I'm like, I'm living
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: through the anniversary where they're retro and Lebron. Gee. It's
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: some ship that people say is vintage that. I'm like, bro,
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: that it's not vantage. Oh yeah, this is all I'm watching.
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: Teams got this vintage ten deep shirt, vintage bitch, what
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: you mean? Rock Star all that shit? Yeah, A forgot
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: crooks and costles and looks and cat they're back now.
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: Larg's back. Word. Yeah. I used to shout out to
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: my guy keV. LRG sponsors are Freestyle Series and Drake
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: just randomly three nights ago he went on an LRG
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: posting spree and he posted like seven LRG ads from
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: like the early two thousands on his story for no reason,
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: just they're gonna be up now. So I had to
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: call my boys. I hate is Drake on LRG know
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: He's like, I don't think so, but we're fucking happy.
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: Those brands definitely show love. In the beginning of the South,
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: LRG had all the fucking ill motherfuckers doing their ads.
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: Diamond was right there with them Niked Diamonds. He's out
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: there wearing Yeah, remember the fucking scouting hoodies. Did you
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: go all the way LRG joint Kanye wore that ship
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: good times, man. They still are the ship. LRG still
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: is the ship. If you love l RG, go to
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: l r G l hyphen r hyphen g dot com

- 1:10:45Speaker 1: fucking go to anymore? You're like, I can't say, just tell.
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: I mean, it's Cleveland. No, it ain't clean. Turn up
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: in Cleveland, we go to Clean. We're just curious because
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: I know, I mean with sometimes it's not even the city.
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: It might be the venue. It might be the speakers,
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: the sound system or something like that. I'm not fucking
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: with you know, but the people is always. Love is
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: just I want them to experience the music. Okay, you've
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: been all over the country. What's your least favorite city
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: you've been to, not even touring wise, just experience wise.
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: I can't say that. I'll give you mine first. Oh
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: my god, bro, it's either between Mobile, Alabama, m that
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: was god awful or Twin Falls, Idaho terrible place. I
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: lived in Boise for twelve months. Mobile was turned, the
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: people was turned. You're looking at it as your live shows.
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: I just mean your visiting experience. Oh I don't know, man, No,
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: it's just always the show. You just visiting and I
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: don't know, you're passing through and you're like, God, this
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: place fucking sucks. Oh, I don't want to be. I don't.
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: I who lives here? I can't say blythe California terrible place.
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: I can't. I don't. I don't, I don't. I don't
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: find myself in those kinds of like taking a vacation
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: you regret it. Wow, Yes, I've done that before. Where
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: was it at? And it might not even it has
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: nothing to do with this place. It might just be
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: the experience. The hotel fucking sucked. Me and my wife
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: just went to the dr pictures looked amazing. Hotel was
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: it was nice, it was inclusive, but the food was
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: it was it was like jail food. Yeah, hmm, I
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: can't really, I don't know, man. I think I went
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: to New York thinking I was finna just with last
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: go see some art stuff like in New York, and
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: it just was one of the moments. It was one
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: of the experiences with like the hotels small. I didn't
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: really give small hotels out of the experience. The hotels
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: in New York. People don't know this, but if you go,
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: I mean if the people who know no, but you
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: go to New York, the hotels are size of a closet.
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: It was it was tiny, and then it was like,
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: I don't know it was it was. It was like
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: supposed to be one of these kind of like upscale
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: when you walk in, of course it's fact like the
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: lobby's super nice. It just then you get to the
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: close it wasn't. And then I was there for like
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: two days. And you know, I'm good when I go
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: to New York. I enjoy however long i'm there. But
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: the entire time I'm there, I'm like, how do these
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: fucking people do this? I just feel like I gotta
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: work a lot. When I get up there, it's like
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: you gotta go. It's not moving so hectic every part
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: of your day, parking your car, the cab, the cab thing,
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: and just every little thing is like you're dealing with people.
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: You're It's just like it took me a long time
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: to get comfortable going there and not feeling like like
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: I was in a hurry or something like, Yeah, I
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: respect New Yorker is so much because I don't know
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: how they I could. I just couldn't. I had to
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: start hanging out with smoke thiszzle and like be going
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: around moving around seeing stuff. I end up going to
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: this amazing museum with my homie Steve O. And then
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: it was like, oh, okay, there's aspects of this why
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: I don't feel like, oh I need to be I
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: gotta do it, and I'm doing mad interviews. I'm running
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: back and forth and so it's it's just fun like
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: small places. What about country wise, what's your favorite non
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: United States? This country? Oh? Man, I love Australia. Australia,
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: I love it. I have heard that if you are
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: of a certain tone that might be yours, that the
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: women in Australia are up for grabs. It's awesome. Man,
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: Perth is like, Perth reminded me every chickle Heggy is, Ah, no,
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: it's it's it's a it's a plethora of going on.
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: It's it's very it's it's amazing. Okay what you were saying,
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: Perth reminded you of my hometown. But it was so
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: the weather and then it's like this the house. It
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: was crazy. I was like, man, I could live here
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: aside from the big as spiders and the birds are
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: to kill you. The birds will kill you. There's some
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: birds over there to get at that ass. So but
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: other than that, bro, we it's food. I eat like
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: over there, Bro, what is the food? Is it like
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: a blooming onion? In fact, it's food. It's like, you know,
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: they had this bombing stuff right with this hotel and
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: I was like, Bro, this shit tastes so fresh. Is
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: it kind of like the US over there? I've heard
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: it's like it's just like the US, but fire, it's
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: people's sleep on it. It was in Melbourne and it
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: was like it felt like New York but you had
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: shows over there. Yeah, we had a full head of
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: the whole tour over there. That's big super Love And
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: it was crazy. I'm fucking doing country Ship Austra in
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: Australia and they and it's crazy because we on stage
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: and I'm telling well before the shows up like this
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: is I don't even know. We don't know what to expect,
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: don't know what the fuck expect. As soon as we
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: eighty six, they going fucking crazy, you know, and I'm like, Wow,
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: more comfortable and came along, motherfucking way, ain't hey man
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: and the tour get your tickets? Seth album? Uh? The
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: Girl Talk Project. What's the name of the actual project?
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: Full Court PRIs Full Court Press that yourself. The currency
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: is on it, but he's not a part of the
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: actual collab. I mean, but just about the fault, the
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: home might have fault. Smoked a whiz shout out to Wiz, Yes,
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: how's your relationship with Wiz mainstays because he's like one
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: of the few people in the music industry who, in
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: my opinion, I've been really close with him and will
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: for over a decade now, and I kind of feel
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: like he's always kind of been the same guy. The home,
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: he ain't forgot where you come from. It's like all
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: the success, he's still he's still him. Still the we
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: on the tour bus talking ship having fun, and it's
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: it's again. It's like that family reunion kind of vibe
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: and feel. And when we were in the studio, Bro,
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: it's not even it ain't no ego driven ship. It's like,
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: Bro were talking about how things was like this south
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: by Southwest, but it was like being on tour and
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: even the college show with they got locked the seeing
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: it's all this ship. It's like, Bro, we'd have been
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: through some ship and we're still making jam ass music
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: and can laugh about it. So and it's just good
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: to be around it. Like though even the amount of
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: success we gained, it don't change how we are as people.
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: Side note, how many actual songs did Juni Yellow ever complete?
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: For country cousins? Did it even happen or was it
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: just talking to happen? We did that one record, the
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: hip hop record, and then I think then we did
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: the the full of Shit record, but I think that
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: was really it. Bro, that's crazy. And now he's making
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: rock music. Yeah, shot, big Chris. Uh. The album is out,
