Transcript
- 0:00My early stages were way harder than I would guess 99.9% of people.
- 0:04Ryan Veneta began as a professional baseball player with the Oakland A's before pivoting to real estate,
- 0:09where he's invested over $100 million.
- 0:12I was 21 years old when I started business career.
- 0:14My career wasn't an entrepreneur at that time, it was as a baseball player.
- 0:17I couldn't depend on my parents.
- 0:18I had to depend on God for everything, because I had nothing.
- 0:21As the founder of Seven Businesses generating seven to eight figures and a social media powerhouse
- 0:26with over two million followers and one billion views, Ryan inspires others to achieve success
- 0:31through the wealthy way.
- 0:32So, I ask in prayer, what should I do next?
- 0:35I was a substitute teacher making a hundred bucks a day, because that was the only thing I could
- 0:39figure out that I couldn't actually make me money.
- 0:41And I did that. I probably lived off, call it, 20 grand a year, for about three years.
- 0:45I was in a way worse position than anybody that I've ever met.
- 0:48In terms of how much I was making and the things I did.
- 0:51And I had to figure out side hustles and things just to survive to continue the dream.
- 0:55I think budgeting time and money and resource is so important to this.
- 0:59And honestly, if you're doing everything right, it's just now compounding time.
- 1:02Ryan is on a mission to share his story and empower others to build wealth and purpose.
- 1:07This is Ryan Panita, and this is his story.
- 1:09A lot of people go broke on every aspect of their life trying to get rich.
- 1:13It's hard to get a rich person give themselves a prize, because they think they got it all.
- 1:16It's to be really great at something.
- 1:18You got to really focus and go on.
- 1:19Welcome to success story. I'm your host, Scott Clare.
- 1:26The success story podcast is part of the HubSpot podcast network.
- 1:29They have great podcasts, but they also have great tools for entrepreneurs.
- 1:33That's why I've worked with them for over three years now.
- 1:35I want you to picture this for a second.
- 1:36You're at a party and someone asks you what you do as a marketer.
- 1:40And this is a lesson for marketers and even people that don't classify as marketers
- 1:44because at the end of the day, everybody has to figure out how to talk about the product
- 1:47to grow their business, whether or not you're formally trained
- 1:50or you're a solo printer, you have to market.
- 1:53Now marketers have a tough job because it's really hard to describe what a marketer is.
- 1:58Because if you think about what a day in the life of a marketer is,
- 2:01you have to generate leads, you have to score them,
- 2:03you have to contact them, you have to create content, you have to gather data.
- 2:06And tomorrow, you have to do it all over again.
- 2:09And then you have to wonder if it's even working.
- 2:10Marketers are spread way too thin.
- 2:12Anybody that does marketing is spread way too thin.
- 2:15Now, HubSpot has a collection of AI tools called Breeze to help marketers.
- 2:19They have features like content remix where you turn one piece of content
- 2:21into all these different assets.
- 2:23You can also pinpoint the best products with predictive lead scoring.
- 2:27So you can know who's actually going to buy your product or service.
- 2:29You can level up your campaigns with KPIs and analytics.
- 2:33So your day to day as a marketer becomes less busy work and more driving revenue
- 2:38through the roof.
- 2:38So remember, everybody at the end of the day has to be a marketer.
- 2:42And more importantly, you'll have a way easier time describing what you do at parties.
- 2:46If you want help marketing your product or service,
- 2:48if you want to grow your business,

- 3:02How do you make sure that one does not outbalance the other
- 3:05or take over your life more than others?
- 3:07Because you care about business, you care about real estate, you care about faith,
- 3:10you care about family, do you believe in balance?
- 3:13Or do you feel like there's some things that certain seasons in your life
- 3:17have to take precedence over the other?
- 3:18Have you wrestled with it with this kind of thought?
- 3:21This is a really deep question, especially for the first one,
- 3:25because I guess trying to explain my thought philosophy is going to be
- 3:32somewhat hard and off to explain through some stories.
- 3:34But long story short, I believe you can have balance,
- 3:38but I also don't think you should have balance.
- 3:40And the reason is, I wrote a book called The Wealthy Way,
- 3:44and it's kind of about that.
- 3:46Time management and balance for all the areas of your life.
- 3:49At the end of the day, if you're working all the time and you're making great money,
- 3:54but you're losing your health and you have a heart attack or you get divorced
- 3:59or you have no faith and you're spiritually dead.
- 4:03Well, dude, it doesn't even matter.
- 4:04Why'd you even spend all this time working?
- 4:06It literally means nothing, right?
- 4:10No amount of money is going to save you from your health if you're at the end of your day.
- 4:14And I've had many guys who have really worked and ruined their families,
- 4:18and they neglected their family throughout the whole time of building,
- 4:21and it's like, dude, that ain't it.
- 4:23Would you go back in time and do it differently?
- 4:26And they're like, yeah, I mean, it wasn't worth it.
- 4:29So on that end, I think that yes, you should have balance in all these different areas.
- 4:34The question becomes, well, man, how do you prioritize which one in what season?
- 4:40Because that's what we were talking about before.
- 4:42It's like, well, you know, when you're in build season,
- 4:44you know, you kind of put off some other things while you're in build season.
- 4:49And that's the part that I say, no, I mean, that part I disagree with.
- 4:54And to actually just make my philosophy really simple,
- 4:57you know, you mentioned faith as like a big part of what I do.
- 5:00And, you know, you saw us having a meeting.
- 5:01We were actually having a meeting about everything we're going to do
- 5:04on the faith side of things, you know, next year in 2025 with all of our events for a non-profit.
- 5:10And, you know, there's a Bible verse.
- 5:11It's Matthew 6.33.
- 5:12Seek first the kingdom and his righteousness.
- 5:14And all of these things will be added to you as well.
- 5:17So my belief is actually anti-balance in that.
- 5:20If I only focus on the kingdom, if I just focus on pursuing Jesus,
- 5:25the rest will all be added to me.
- 5:28That's what the Bible promises.
- 5:30So I got to really ask myself, do I believe what the Bible says?
- 5:33Or, you know, do I think that I need to like reinvent it?
- 5:37Because that's what a lot of entrepreneurs do who say they're Christian.
- 5:39They try to reinvent it.
- 5:41They say, well, I got this thing over here that I'm doing.
- 5:44And, you know, maybe I'll make some time for God.
- 5:46That is literally the opposite of what the Bible says.
- 5:48The Bible says devote all of your attention, all of your heart, all of your mind,
- 5:54all of your soul on Jesus.
- 5:56And the rest will just happen.
- 5:58I don't need to plan it out, but that's a hard thought to wrestle with
- 6:02when you can barely pay rent next month.
- 6:04So you have to understand that when I want to pull,
- 6:07I want to pull this wisdom because I think it's beautiful.
- 6:09But I also want to understand how this applies to somebody who's in their early stages of building.
- 6:12Because also when you first start out,
- 6:15it's very difficult for you to think of anything outside of even money.
- 6:19Forget it, even like God, Jesus.
- 6:21It doesn't matter what you believe.
- 6:24At the beginning, you believe that you just want to make a lot of money.
- 6:27And you realize that money doesn't mean that much anymore.
- 6:29And then you want like freedom.
- 6:30And then you eventually want to not even have to worry about money or even slightly working.
- 6:37You just want to have complete freedom to choose whatever you want to do.
- 6:40And I think that that's what most people optimize for when they start.
- 6:44And then they go on this journey and then they start to evolve.
- 6:48And then they get to where you are.
- 6:49Where now you can say I can focus on Jesus and all the other things will come
- 6:53after I focus on God and Jesus.
- 6:56But when you're starting, it's very difficult to put that principle into practice
- 7:00because you just want to optimize on work and you want to optimize on hustle
- 7:03and you want to optimize on closing your next client.
- 7:06So what's the lesson for somebody early stage in starting that is like,
- 7:11that's a great idea in theory.
- 7:14But ultimately, I have to make my business work.
- 7:16Yeah.
- 7:17Throw one for my energy towards.
- 7:18Well, let me say this.
- 7:20You know, people have asked me, dude, you know, what about in the early stages,
- 7:23where you work in 80 hour weeks, what were you doing?
- 7:25What was life like?
- 7:26Well, I can tell you my early stages were way harder than I would guess 99.9% of people's.
- 7:32So, you know, I was 21 years old when I started, let's say, my adult business career, you know,
- 7:38had no money.
- 7:39I was a minor league baseball player making 1200 bucks a month.
- 7:43That was only half the year too.
- 7:45So I made literally $7,000 a year.
- 7:48That was my income.
- 7:49And, you know, I was a Christian then.
- 7:52I grew up in church.
- 7:53I understood like God always comes first, not my career.
- 7:57And you know, my career wasn't an entrepreneur at that time.
- 7:59It was as a baseball player, right?
- 8:01And I had no idea how I was going to pay for bills.
- 8:04Because also in 2010, we just came out of the great recession.
- 8:07There were no jobs.
- 8:09They're, you know, my parents lost everything.
- 8:11I couldn't depend on my parents.
- 8:12They lost the home I grew up in.
- 8:15Literally, I had no support or income other than
- 8:18$7,000 a year.
- 8:20And that wasn't even guaranteed.
- 8:21Because guess what?
- 8:21I could get cut tomorrow, right?
- 8:23Like, it's not my business.
- 8:24You know, if I'm not good enough, think you're rid of me.
- 8:27So I had to depend on God for everything.
- 8:30Because I had nothing.
- 8:32And it's like, all right, well, how am I going to make money?
- 8:34Lord, like, what do you want me to do?
- 8:35So that's the first thing that I always do.
- 8:38It's like, I ask in prayer, what should I do next?
- 8:40And that's every step of the way, whether I was broke,
- 8:43whether it's today, and I'm still like, well,
- 8:45okay, look at all these different opportunities.
- 8:47How do I discern what's the best opportunity, right?
- 8:50But long story short, in those early stages,
- 8:54man, I lived on, I became a realtor in 2010 as well,
- 8:59sucked, made like no money doing it.
- 9:02I was a substitute teacher making $100 a day.
- 9:05Because that was the only thing I could figure out
- 9:07that I couldn't actually make me money.
- 9:10And I did that.
- 9:10I probably lived off, call it 20 grand a year
- 9:13for about, man, three years.
- 9:15And I ended up getting married during that time too.
- 9:18So this is another myth.
- 9:19So I have no excuse.
- 9:21I mean, look, you can't hear to hear the truth.
- 9:24But that's one of the things that drives me crazy
- 9:26is when guys wait, especially in their single,
- 9:29they're building their careers, and I'm like, guys,
- 9:32you can never say that you have to do it,
- 9:34because I'm telling you what I did.
- 9:35And I was in a way worse position than anybody that I've ever met today.
- 9:39In terms of how much I was making and the things I did,
- 9:42because I still pursued playing baseball for eight seasons,
- 9:45making $7,000 a year.
- 9:47Eight years from 21 to 27, I was married,
- 9:50I was making that money,
- 9:52and I had to figure out side hustles and things
- 9:54just to survive to continue the dream.
- 9:56And that's what I did.
- 9:57I started flipping couches,
- 9:58which was a revelation from God.
- 10:00I didn't learn that on YouTube.
- 10:01There was no TikTok.
- 10:02It was just this idea that he planted in my head.
- 10:04I'm like, oh, I could probably flip couches and make money.
- 10:07And then, you know, I remember I was praying
- 10:09on our one year anniversary.
- 10:10This was in 2014.
- 10:11I was like, all right,
- 10:12flipping couches has made me like good money,
- 10:14but I'm not going to do this the rest of my life.
- 10:16What should I do?
- 10:18And then I hear real estate.
- 10:19And I'm like, real estate?
- 10:20I already failed at real estate.
- 10:22What do you mean real estate?
- 10:23And then sure enough,
- 10:24it was flipping houses.
- 10:25It was different than being a realtor.
- 10:27And so I maxed out all of our credit cards for 50 grand,
- 10:29flipped our first house,
- 10:30and you know, I made $25,000.
- 10:32It was crazy.
- 10:35But that then led to the next stage,
- 10:37you know, and a flip A making a bunch of money.
- 10:39And then COVID hits,
- 10:40and I'm about to lose it all,
- 10:41because I had 50 house flips going on.
- 10:43And, you know,
- 10:44they're talking about everything crash in during COVID.
- 10:47They're like, oh, well,
- 10:48the economy's going to burn all the stuff.
- 10:50And I'm like, dang,
- 10:50I got like $20 million worth of property right now.
- 10:54And it could all go to zero.
- 10:55And I can lose everything I've ever built.
- 10:57I was like, what do you want me to do, God?
- 10:59And I'm like,
- 11:01all of a sudden, I hear YouTube.
- 11:04I'm like, now ain't the time to be making YouTube videos.
- 11:07Like, I got way bigger problems
- 11:08than making YouTube's and TikTok's.
- 11:11But that was what I heard.
- 11:12And then sure enough,
- 11:13that leads to, you know,
- 11:15all these other things.
- 11:16And then, you know,
- 11:16my point is, every step of the way,
- 11:18I've been seeking God first,
- 11:20and he's always provided even with nothing.
- 11:23And, you know,
- 11:24so I just want to make sure people understand that
- 11:26this is not something to pursue later.
- 11:28I don't think a lot of people think that way, though.
- 11:30I don't think a lot of...
- 11:31No one thinks that way.
- 11:32I don't think a lot of...
- 11:33Like as you're saying,
- 11:34I'm being like super pragmatic.
- 11:36I don't think many entrepreneurs
- 11:38seek inspiration in God before they build a business.
- 11:42And why do 99% of entrepreneurs fail?
- 11:44Because they do what everyone else does.
- 11:46So when you say to somebody,
- 11:49and this is a very interesting topic,
- 11:50because I've actually spoken to a lot of,
- 11:52I've spoken to a lot of rabbis,
- 11:53preachers about Godlessness
- 11:55and society and its implications.
- 11:57But it's never been from the lens
- 12:00of God and business together
- 12:03and helping that creative process
- 12:05to build something new.
- 12:07Yeah.
- 12:07So when you sort of ignore what everyone else does,
- 12:11and you're not looking for product market fit
- 12:13in a traditional way.
- 12:14Yeah.
- 12:15You're not going on Reddit
- 12:16and solving problems that people have.
- 12:18Yeah, and all of a...
- 12:19All of a...
- 12:19What else a huge tam?
- 12:20Yeah, exactly.
- 12:22Exactly.
- 12:22That's what everyone does.
- 12:23So what you have this...
- 12:25You have this belief system.
- 12:27You have this faith system.
- 12:28You have this idea that comes to you.
- 12:31What's your process for making it work?
- 12:33Yeah, great question.
- 12:34So to talk about the first part,
- 12:37you said of like everybody's doing it the same way.
- 12:39Like I said, why would you...
- 12:41Why would you be surprised
- 12:42when everyone has the same results?
- 12:44Most entrepreneurs fail.
- 12:46They have to go get another job.
- 12:4790 plus percent of people are living paycheck to paycheck.
- 12:51So currently, the way that you're told doesn't work.
- 12:53That's clear, right?
- 12:55There are outliers
- 12:56and those outliers force it to work
- 12:59by just doing it to the extreme.
- 13:01Yeah.
- 13:01Right?
- 13:02I'm like, they're ain't...
- 13:04That ain't for me, you know?
- 13:05Like that's literally not what the Bible teaches, right?
- 13:08And here's the other part.
- 13:09Like on the other hand of it too,
- 13:12the Bible doesn't teach anything
- 13:14about all the other myths we're told.
- 13:15Like, hey, we should have this number for retirement.
- 13:19We should know our financial freedoms
- 13:22so we can just chill and do whatever, right?
- 13:25Like every single person in the Bible
- 13:29worked at something until the day they died.
- 13:32Work never stopped.
- 13:33The first thing God did was give Adam a job.
- 13:35He said, you're going to go work.
- 13:37Go tend to the fields.
- 13:38So I love work.
- 13:39You'll never hear me talk about retirement
- 13:41because I'm just like,
- 13:43dude, what are we working on next?
- 13:44I think you're the same too, right?
- 13:45Like we love to work
- 13:46and it's hard for entrepreneurs who love to work
- 13:48to not work, right?
- 13:50We're not like lazy society where they don't want to work.
- 13:53Like we're like, yo,
- 13:54myself, include, I'm like, I could work 80 hours a week.
- 13:56A thousand percent, and I enjoy it.
- 13:58Yeah, and enjoy it, right?
- 14:00But I also understand that God gave me
- 14:02these parameters of how I'm supposed to live my life.
- 14:04Not because he's like, bro,
- 14:06I don't want you to have any fun or anything else.
- 14:08It's like because this is what's going to
- 14:11help you live the best life and live the way I designed it for you, right?
- 14:14You have parameters in your business,
- 14:16but that's why we have KPIs.
- 14:17That's why we have core values.
- 14:18That's why we have SOPs.
- 14:20It's because this is how you should do it the right way.
- 14:22The Bible's just a SOP for life.
- 14:24And so, you know, for me, when I look at a new opportunity,
- 14:29once again, I go through my SOP and I do what it says, right?
- 14:32And so for me, first thing is prayer.
- 14:34Hey, you know, God, what do you think about this opportunity, man?
- 14:37I got this guy Scott here and he's thinking about doing this business with me, right?
- 14:42And I'll see if I hear anything, right?
- 14:44The next thing would be leaning on wise counsel.
- 14:47I mean, we call this mentors in the normal world.
- 14:49But, you know, for me, I don't want just normal mentors,
- 14:52but I want Christian mentors too,
- 14:54because they see the world obviously very different
- 14:56than normal people, right?
- 14:57And so they'll catch things that don't necessarily make sense
- 15:01from a worldly perspective, right?
- 15:03I mean, somebody can look at it and say,
- 15:04dude, that opportunity with Scott is like amazing.
- 15:07You guys are going to be able to do this.
- 15:08The product market fits great.
- 15:10You guys already have all the customers.
- 15:12The upsells, the asset like, dude,
- 15:13everything on paper looks great.
- 15:15And then somebody else can look at and say,
- 15:17hey, honestly, dude,
- 15:19like it sounds great,
- 15:20but I just don't feel right about it in my spirit.
- 15:23And there's nothing else that can be said at that point, right?
- 15:25Because it's just like, at the end of the day,
- 15:28there are things that make perfect sense.
- 15:30That if you go down that path,
- 15:32and I've done it before, where I've rejected my gut,
- 15:34aka the spirit, and I'm like,
- 15:36bro, this is the best opportunity ever.
- 15:37And it's led me to the biggest lawsuits,
- 15:39the biggest headaches, the biggest problems.
- 15:42And it's like, then there's things that I avoided so much trouble.
- 15:45And I just knew I was like, I don't know what it is about that,
- 15:48but I'm not doing that.
- 15:50And then it comes out, you know,
- 15:52you're later, as you're saying this,
- 15:54I'm thinking through, I'm thinking through some ideas that I actually think
- 15:59you pull this wisdom out of the Bible.
- 16:01I think they're very applicable to people that are not religious.
- 16:04Because what I speak about quite often
- 16:06is when you're starting something,
- 16:08you have to build your life and architect your life in a way
- 16:11that you can continue to do that thing and improve and iterate and learn
- 16:15and sometimes pivot or whatever it is.
- 16:16You have to be able to do that thing for an extended period of time to avoid burnout.
- 16:20Exactly.
- 16:21And that means structuring your finances,
- 16:24structuring the hours that you can commit to that thing
- 16:27so that you're not running a relationship with your wife,
- 16:29yet your husband and your kids and all of this different stuff, right?
- 16:33So what I think that you are saying through your interpretation of the Bible
- 16:39is the Bible is setting up this framework
- 16:41so that you can actually be successful in business
- 16:43because you're approaching it through the right lens.
- 16:45Mm-hmm, 100%.
- 16:46You're approaching it with the relationship
- 16:50with your family, with your kids intact.
- 16:53You're not like over indexing on business
- 16:56because, again, through wisdom,
- 16:59thought down by a book that is thousands of years old.
- 17:02Yep.
- 17:03You are understanding that all these other components are important in your life.
- 17:06And when you structure a business in a way that respects all the other things
- 17:11that are important in your life,
- 17:12that's the business that's going to be there in 10 or 20 years.
- 17:16That's the business that you continue to build
- 17:18because you're not destroying everything else around it.
- 17:20100% right?
- 17:21And I think that from just a practical standpoint, right?
- 17:25It comes back to, you know,
- 17:26what are my priorities and core values?
- 17:28Mm-hmm.
- 17:28And a lot of people you would talk to would say,
- 17:30well, yeah, family's a priority to me.
- 17:33And I'd say, okay, let me see your schedule.
- 17:35Just show me your calendar.
- 17:36Let's just literally,
- 17:38this would be the most radical thing.
- 17:40Let's just count the hours you spend with your family.
- 17:42Let's count the hours you spend, you know, on your health.
- 17:45Let's count the hours you spend with God.
- 17:46Let's count the hours you spend in business, right?
- 17:49And let's not even count the hours you waste in business,
- 17:51because we know that a lot of 80 hour guys,
- 17:55I mean, they could be 40 hour guys if they were just more efficient.
- 17:58And so, you know, for me,
- 18:00that's what the wealthy ways all about.
- 18:01It's taking the things that you say are a priority in your life
- 18:04and making those things first and then building business around that.
- 18:08So, for example, you know, like I was saying,
- 18:11I built all of this like with the same framework, right?
- 18:14Like I didn't have money.
- 18:16My time was extremely limited,
- 18:18because I had to play baseball,
- 18:19leave six months out of the year,
- 18:21wall simultaneously building a business
- 18:23and having, you know, a new wife and,
- 18:25you know, all these things.
- 18:27And what I realized was,
- 18:29when I made the main things, the main things,
- 18:31everything else fell into place.
- 18:32Just like the Bible verse said, you know?
- 18:34So like to give practical knowledge to those listening,
- 18:38for the last,
- 18:40man, let's call it 10 years.
- 18:41I've been flipping houses for 10 years.
- 18:44My schedule really hasn't changed.
- 18:46I don't work on the weekends.
- 18:48I didn't want to flip my first house.
- 18:49I still don't today, okay?
- 18:51So it's not something that came I earned.
- 18:54I didn't earn.
- 18:54It was in the plan from the beginning.
- 18:57So I don't work on weekends.
- 18:58I don't work past five o'clock.
- 19:00So every day, this office closes at five.
- 19:03Most of my employees leave.
- 19:04Some might finish up some stuff.
- 19:06But we all leave because I want my employees
- 19:09to have the same mindset I do.
- 19:10Like, I don't want them to get burned out.
- 19:11I don't want them to lose their families.
- 19:13I don't want any of those things.
- 19:15Like I genuinely care about them.
- 19:16And so, you know, in order for that to happen, though,
- 19:18we got to get super efficient while we are here.
- 19:21You know, they know that.
- 19:22I do not have any tolerance for wasting time.
- 19:26If I see people wandering around not doing anything,
- 19:28like, what are you doing?
- 19:29Go sit in your office and make some calls.
- 19:31Go get some sales.
- 19:32Like, there's something for you to do.
- 19:34Like, there's a price for this lifestyle
- 19:38that we get to have with work, life balance.
- 19:40You know, yeah, you only got to be here
- 19:42from nine to five Monday to Friday.
- 19:43But guess what?
- 19:45You better be working extremely efficient, you know,
- 19:48nine to five.
- 19:49Like, I even told him today I go, look, this week,
- 19:51we got Thanksgiving and, you know,
- 19:53we don't have to come on Friday.
- 19:54We have three days to work.
- 19:56All right.
- 19:57You got to get five days of work in the next three days.
- 20:00Y'all don't need hour lunches.
- 20:02You don't need any of this stuff.
- 20:04Get what you need to get done this week.
- 20:06I'm not asking them to go work till seven or eight tonight.
- 20:08I'm just like, get what needs to get done.
- 20:10Hold yourself accountable.
- 20:12And so, you know, we do that.
- 20:13And then even for me, on my faith,
- 20:16from the beginning, every morning,
- 20:18I read my Bible, I pray, I meditate, I remember I scripture.
- 20:24You know, I didn't learn all this about scripture
- 20:26because, you know, I just watched a YouTube video.
- 20:28I've been doing it for 10 years in a row
- 20:30every morning for an hour every day.
- 20:32And it starts to become more and more clear of what's true
- 20:35and what's not.
- 20:36And then you also have 10 years of hindsight to say,
- 20:38well, I took a path.
- 20:40They took a path.
- 20:41I'm pretty happy where my path is.
- 20:43Yeah.
- 20:44And, um, you know, we have Bible study on Wednesday mornings.
- 20:48We go to church on Sunday.
- 20:49So it's like, it's important to me to do those things.
- 20:52And it's also important for me to get home at five
- 20:54to have dinner with my family.
- 20:55It's also important for me every morning to work out.
- 20:57So I'm still in shape even after I'm done playing.
- 21:00Um, and I'm just efficient, man.
- 21:02It's like, dude, we're going to go film a pod.
- 21:04We're going to film a pod here.
- 21:05I got a couple more meetings.
- 21:07I got to do Monday.
- 21:08And then guess what Friday?
- 21:09I'm golfing.
- 21:10I'm hanging like everything is like, yeah.
- 21:12So why did people?
- 21:14You've built this super efficient machine.
- 21:16It's like, respect.
- 21:18I love it.
- 21:18I think that's the way business should be.
- 21:20I don't generally see super efficient machines.
- 21:25Well, really ever, but I mean,
- 21:27but if you look at the, if you look at the companies
- 21:30where people actually go home at five,
- 21:31yeah, they're enormous companies.
- 21:33Yeah.
- 21:33There are companies that are well over $100 million in revenue.
- 21:36If you are like a sub $10 million company,
- 21:38that founder, owner CEO is expecting people to work nonstop.
- 21:43Yeah.
- 21:43And of course, I don't like the environment of the sub most
- 21:45sub $10 million companies.
- 21:47Obviously, this is not a hard and fast rule.
- 21:49But I mean, it's tough to build a business.
- 21:52Yeah.
- 21:52And owners and owner operated companies.
- 21:54They try and extract as much out of people as
- 21:56possible.
- 21:57And they expect their team to care as much about
- 21:59their company as they do, which why should they?
- 22:01They never will.
- 22:02I don't own it.
- 22:03So exactly.
- 22:04So why do you think, I mean, so now we have the theory.
- 22:08You talk about efficiency and you talk about
- 22:10balance, you talk about things that are important.
- 22:11So you go into building a business,
- 22:13knowing all the things that are important to you.
- 22:15That's great.
- 22:16But why were you able to be successful
- 22:18when so many other companies don't operate the way that you
- 22:20operate that don't operate with those limits on time
- 22:23and time and office and focus on office?
- 22:25Well, I think it's a few things, right?
- 22:27I mean, obviously,
- 22:29when you're talking about spiritual supernatural things,
- 22:32there are things that just happen
- 22:35that other people just don't get to be
- 22:37to have the benefit of.
- 22:38Like, I can't say that every door that's been open
- 22:40in my life has been a direct result
- 22:42of how hard we work to how much we earned it.
- 22:44But it's just simply been a gift.
- 22:46Like, I can't even explain how I know
- 22:49so many big people, like almost everybody
- 22:51in the business space who you see on social media.
- 22:54And it's not because I'm anywhere close to their level.
- 22:56I don't have a hundred million dollar company.
- 22:58Yet, I can text them all.
- 23:00They all come here.
- 23:00They all respect me.
- 23:01They come to meet in my office and we film.
- 23:04It's like, a lot of that is just favor.
- 23:06And it just is what it is.
- 23:08And so I think God gives favor to those who are obedient.
- 23:11Like, that's a promise in the Bible as well.
- 23:12It's not just like, oh, well, Ryan,
- 23:15we'll give him this.
- 23:16And you know, like, no, there's this level of stewardship.
- 23:18You know, the Bible promises that,
- 23:20if I trust you with a little,
- 23:21I can trust you with much.
- 23:23And so if I was good enough to be able to still be obedient,
- 23:26fall in when I was making 1200 a month,
- 23:28how much more could I do if we're making 1.2 million,
- 23:31you know, a thousand times it, right?
- 23:34So that's one level, right?
- 23:36And a lot of people won't understand that.
- 23:38So, you know, what are some other technical things?
- 23:40Well, I think that number one,
- 23:43longevity comes from the things you were actually talking about.
- 23:46Of, dude, like, let's just budget this out.
- 23:49Like, what's actually sustainable, right?
- 23:52What, how much capacity do I have to work?
- 23:54Like, what, how many hours am I willing to do this?
- 23:56Like, at a sustainable level,
- 23:57it's not going to ruin my life.
- 23:59We can keep at this.
- 24:00Number two, you know, how much financially
- 24:02can we devote to this, right?
- 24:04I mean, I don't come from the startup world where,
- 24:06you know, people raised millions of dollars
- 24:08to just burn it and lose money.
- 24:09I have never lost money.
- 24:11That's not a good strategy.
- 24:13I've never raised money to start any business.
- 24:15I've each strapped everything.
- 24:16So it's like, yeah, we better be making money from day one.
- 24:19That's how I operate.
- 24:20So I think budgeting time and money and resource
- 24:24is so important to this.
- 24:25And honestly, the third one is, and you hear this all the time,
- 24:28it's just like, at that point,
- 24:30if you're doing everything right,
- 24:32it's just now compounding time.
- 24:34Like, just do it over and over again.
- 24:36It's going to be boring.
- 24:38Just keep doing it.
- 24:39Make me keep making the videos.
- 24:40Keep calling the sellers.
- 24:41Keep talking to the clients.
- 24:43Keep throwing the events.
- 24:44You do it enough times.
- 24:45You look up five years later, 10 years later,
- 24:47and you're like, wow,
- 24:49look how far ahead we are than everyone.
- 24:51Look how many people dropped off.
- 24:52Like, look how many people were like a flash in the pan.
- 24:54Like, they started out way ahead of us.
- 24:57And then, you know, they went bankrupt.
- 24:58They fell off.
- 24:59This thing happened or they burned out.
- 25:01Like, you see that all the time.
- 25:03One of my favorite quotes you've said is,
- 25:04your why has to be bigger than your fear.
- 25:06So I have to ask you, is God your why
- 25:09or is there a bigger why than even that?
- 25:11No, yeah.
- 25:12It's just simply leading people to Jesus.
- 25:14I mean, at the end of the day,
- 25:16actually, I want to add it.
- 25:17That's something on to that too.
- 25:17Okay.
- 25:18How do you bow?
- 25:19So say, that's a great why.
- 25:20Yep.
- 25:21But how do you balance that why versus providing
- 25:23for your family as a why versus
- 25:26yeah, achieving the highest version of yourself
- 25:28and the most quote unquote successful version of yourself?
- 25:31All right.
- 25:31So this is once again going to be kind of controversial.
- 25:34But I actually do not believe that it's biblical
- 25:38to even have like your own goals.
- 25:41So, you know, when you talk about the Bible, right?
- 25:44One of the things that it says is,
- 25:46you need to die to yourself.
- 25:48You become a slave to Christ.
- 25:50Like your old self dies the moment you become a Christian.
- 25:54What does that mean?
- 25:55Well, it's like your old self dies.
- 25:58There's only the new self.
- 25:59Like when people say, man, I'm trying to follow,
- 26:02you know, God's will, but I have my own will
- 26:04and my own dreams and my own ambitions.
- 26:06How do I like that God's will with my will?
- 26:10The reality is there should be no your will anymore.
- 26:13There should only be God's will.
- 26:15And if you're following what God wants you to do,
- 26:17that's all that matters.
- 26:19And you're going to trust that he's going to provide.
- 26:21He always, I mean, there's, it goes back to how do I balance my family?
- 26:24If I truly believe God's promise, you know, Matthew 6,
- 26:2825 through 26 talks about how, you know,
- 26:30look at the birds in the air, right?
- 26:32The birds in the air, they don't sew or reap or work or store
- 26:35way in barns.
- 26:35And yet your heavenly father feeds them and takes care of them.
- 26:38They don't have to worry about how they're going to eat the next day.
- 26:41They just do.
- 26:43And yet we're always worried about when our next
- 26:45paycheck's going to come.
- 26:46What's our next job?
- 26:47Because we don't believe that he's going to take care of us, right?
- 26:50Now, if you're not a Christian, I get it.
- 26:53You do need to depend on yourself to do all these things.
- 26:56But if you're a Christian and you truly believe the Bible,
- 26:58this should not be a concern.
- 27:00So, you know, once again, we're talking about,
- 27:02the counter argument would be there's lots of poor Christians.
- 27:04There's lots of people that are struggling.
- 27:05There's, there's poor Christians, but they're still in care of, right?
- 27:08Once again, we're not talking about
- 27:11levels of wealth and millions of dollars.
- 27:13We're talking about he's just going to take care of you.
- 27:15And this is where it really comes down to in the end, right?
- 27:18There's lots of poor people in the Bible.
- 27:19There's lots of rich people in the Bible.
- 27:21And you mentioned this too, like what's the main goal with all this?
- 27:26The main goal is to help people start thinking about eternity.
- 27:30Because we spend so much time thinking about,
- 27:35you know, my one year, you know, business plan,
- 27:37my five year business plan.
- 27:38Well, how are we going to exit this company in the next 10 years, right?
- 27:42We spend hours with boardrooms,
- 27:45team, all this stuff, figuring out that.
- 27:48People spend almost no time thinking about eternity.
- 27:52And the crazy part is, if you just think,
- 27:55we're all logical, practical people on this show,
- 27:58we're going to be dead way longer than we're alive, okay?
- 28:02So if we're thinking about retirement
- 28:04and where we're going to actually be for a long time,
- 28:08eternity should actually be the thing we're thinking about most
- 28:11and planning for that.
- 28:12You know, I actually heard a quote the other day.
- 28:15It said that,
- 28:16imagine this, the next 24 hours of your life,
- 28:20you know, somebody came to say, hey, Scott,
- 28:21the next 24 hours of your life is going to dictate the next thousand years,
- 28:26you know, so make sure these next 24 hours,
- 28:29you really,
- 28:30I just very thought, dude, you really liked it.
- 28:32The crazy part about that is that's not even close to what the actual truth is.
- 28:37Because that's a finite number in eternity is infinite.
- 28:41So even if we get 100 years here on earth,
- 28:44it's still not a 24 hour to a thousand year ratio.
- 28:47It's not, it's infinite.
- 28:50And yet we never think about it.
- 28:51And the truth in a matter is there's so many different belief systems, right?
- 28:55Like, I understand that, right?
- 28:56You know, you're like, man, maybe I should be Hindu.
- 28:59Maybe I should be Mormon.
- 29:00Maybe I should be Christian.
- 29:01Maybe I should be this.
- 29:02It's like, well, almost all of them say there's like one way.
- 29:06Yeah.
- 29:06You better do your research to know which one's true because if there's a slight chance
- 29:11that one of them's true, you've been focusing on the wrong thing.
- 29:15Oh, it's funny because yeah, there is a there is a through line between all religions.
- 29:18Anyways, it doesn't matter what you actually believe.
- 29:21The difference, I think, the biggest, the biggest differences between people that have zero belief
- 29:27versus people that have like even like a little bit of belief.
- 29:29That is the biggest difference because if you believe nothing, I don't even know
- 29:33how you go through life believing that this is it.
- 29:36Like, this is all the, yeah, it's a very, I mean, that's a more stressful thought
- 29:41that knowing that this is the end, this is the end.
- 29:43That's a very stressful thought.
- 29:45Yeah.
- 29:46I don't think I want to ever sit with that thought to be quite honest.
- 29:48Like, I want to have, forget about the fact that it's good to have like some moral compass
- 29:53and definition of good and something larger than yourself so that you don't
- 29:57think that your ego is the most important thing on this planet.
- 30:00I think that those are all good things but outside of it, it's a very scary thought to think that
- 30:04when you die, that's it.
- 30:05That's horrifying.
- 30:06It's depressing.
- 30:07I actually, I'm curious about your opinion on this because I've thought about this a lot.
- 30:12I do see a rise in secularism in society, a lack of God in society.
- 30:19Obviously, I'm sure you think about it quite often.
- 30:21Yeah.
- 30:21Is Godlessness in society?
- 30:24I live in Vegas.
- 30:25Yeah.
- 30:26I live in Miami.
- 30:27Yeah.
- 30:28We know all about it.
- 30:30What do you think the true implications are?
- 30:33Because I'm sure you're closer to this phenomenon than me because you work with people
- 30:37yet are trying to find God and usually there's like an impetus.
- 30:40There's like a reason why they're seeking.
- 30:42Yeah.
- 30:43People usually have to reach a low point for them to finally seek, right?
- 30:46Because they could have had everything and lost it all or whatever and they're like,
- 30:49dude, okay, it wasn't worth it.
- 30:51Or they reached the end of their life, man.
- 30:52They do the plan that they thought was the plan for 30 years and then they're like,
- 30:57dude, I'm still not fulfilled.
- 30:58Like it didn't, it wasn't what I thought it was.
- 31:01And so then they go to seeking.
- 31:03But yeah, I mean, like the impetus for Godlessness is that there's a lot of people going to hell.
- 31:09And that's the truth and that's the sad, scary part about it and people need to hear it.
- 31:13Because like, you know, I'm talking about eternity, right?
- 31:15Once again,
- 31:16that, you know, most people, even if they're not Christian, believe there's a heaven and a hell.
- 31:20I just want to take a second and thank the house by podcast network for supporting today's episode.
- 31:23Now, if you like success story, they're going to love other shows in the network.
- 31:26One of my favorites is the Hustle Daily Show.
- 31:28It's hosted by Juliet Bennett Ryla, Rob Literist, Ben Berkeley, and Mark Dent.
- 31:32It's brought to you by the Hustlebot podcast network, which is really the audio destination
- 31:37for business professionals.
- 31:38Now, the Hustle Daily Show brings you a healthy dose of this irreverent,
- 31:42offbeat and formative takes on business and tech.
- 31:44I was just listening to an episode to give you an example of what they talk about.
- 31:47So they broke down how this 100 year old organization has created one of the most successful
- 31:53business models in the world.
- 31:54Not only does this organization teach young entrepreneurship, they generate over a billion
- 31:59dollars in annual cookie sales.
- 32:00And what I really love about the show is they take these stories and these businesses that we think
- 32:05we know and then they reveal these surprising angles that we never considered.
- 32:09So I really think that you should go listen to the Hustle Daily Show wherever you get your podcasts.
- 32:13It's one of my favorites.
- 32:14You're not going to regret it.
- 32:15I wasn't even talking after you die.
- 32:17I was talking while you're still on this planet.
- 32:20Yeah, I mean, dude,
- 32:22you live in godlessness once again, it's not like God gave us those rules.
- 32:27Like, hey, don't do these things because I want to prevent you from having fun.
- 32:30That's not like most people who are practicing all this crazy stuff.
- 32:33Think they're like, dude, that doesn't sound like fun.
- 32:35And it's like, bro, you can only sleep with so many women and you start to realize it.
- 32:41You can only get smashed so many times before you realize it.
- 32:44You can only make so much money and then realize, man, like I've made it all and it's still,
- 32:50I still feel the same.
- 32:52Everybody who goes that path comes to that conclusion at some point.
- 32:56And then you have a choice.
- 32:57You either make a change or you keep numbing the pain.
- 33:01When I look at people that have had massive success, like, like,
- 33:04people that are now billionaires or over a hundred million dollars in exit value and whatever.
- 33:11They're always seeking something after that.
- 33:14They're always, you're never satisfied.
- 33:15Well, you can never be fully satisfied because again,
- 33:18I love that. There's only so many women you can sleep with.
- 33:23There's only so many things you can buy.
- 33:25And ultimately, that's not why we're put on this earth anyway.
- 33:29It doesn't matter what you believe.
- 33:30Those are not fulfilling things.
- 33:32Yeah, whenever I meet a person, because I, you know,
- 33:35I'm around a lot of rich people who do different things.
- 33:37Whenever I meet a rich person who really values their stuff,
- 33:43I kind of feel bad for them.
- 33:46And I don't mean it in a way because I like having nice stuff too.
- 33:49You know, I have a nice house and nice cars.
- 33:51You know, but like, I don't go in, you know,
- 33:54like, just to give a prime example, you know,
- 33:56I meet guys who have these massive car collections.
- 33:59And I'm not saying it's a sin to have a massive car collection by any means.
- 34:02But it's where your heart is at.
- 34:04And I can see there are guys who just keep buying car after car after car.
- 34:09You're because it's like, it's the thing that gets them, you know,
- 34:12make some happy and like, they feel really good.
- 34:14And then they buy the car and then, you know, it wears off after two days.
- 34:17Yeah.
- 34:18And they're immediately looking for the next car.
- 34:20And I'm just like, and then, you know, they love to show it like,
- 34:23dude, yeah, look at this car and this car and this car.
- 34:26And I'm like, that's cool, man.
- 34:27I can tell you really like your car is like, yeah, I don't really care.
- 34:32You know, if you want to lend me one, I'll drive it.
- 34:34I mean, I'm not, I'll drive it.
- 34:36I think it's great.
- 34:37But like, I clearly don't like love them the way you do.
- 34:40When you talk about, okay, so when you talk about the wealthy way,
- 34:43yeah, what is your definition of the wealthy way?
- 34:45What is your version, yeah, of wealth?
- 34:48The subtitle of the book is don't go broke trying to get rich.
- 34:51You know, a lot of people go broke on every aspect of their life trying to get rich,
- 34:57making money.
- 34:59And I think that's a good, you know, kind of hook, my go to writer,
- 35:03my ghost writer thought of that.
- 35:04I was like, that's a good, that's a good line.
- 35:06But yeah, I think it's just having, you know, for me, wealth is not just money,
- 35:10right?
- 35:10It's all the areas we've been talking about.
- 35:13Because you truly need them all, right?
- 35:14Like, I mean, tons of, you know, even broke Christians, right?
- 35:19People who don't have a lot of money that are Christians,
- 35:21that are still living a suboptimal life.
- 35:23Yeah, they're saved.
- 35:24But man, like, they're, they're, they just can't figure out how to get out of the paycheck
- 35:29to paycheck life.
- 35:30And I know they can, I know they can get out of it.
- 35:33They just need to learn skills, right?
- 35:35And so money is, I don't want anyone to think I think money is like not important.
- 35:40But the Bible actually talks about money than any other subject.
- 35:43Why is there that negative connotation?
- 35:45Like, I don't understand that.
- 35:46But there was always this, I don't know if it's true or not,
- 35:49but I always felt that with very religious people,
- 35:52there was this almost negative connotation about money.
- 35:54Yeah.
- 35:54And I never got it.
- 35:55I never really understood where that came from.
- 35:57It comes from ignorance.
- 35:58So the Bible does not talk negatively about like rich people.
- 36:04It's not that rich people are bad or anything like that.
- 36:07You know, it's that camel quote.
- 36:10Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's, uh, but it's easier for the camel to go
- 36:14through the eye of the needle than it is for a rich person to enter the kingdom of heaven.
- 36:18And it's true, right?
- 36:19That's kind of a little bit different in that.
- 36:21And this is why my mission has really been to help entrepreneurs.
- 36:24And that's why I left talking about it on shows like this,
- 36:26who a lot of people don't know me.
- 36:27But like, it's hard to get a rich person to, you know, give themselves a
- 36:32Christ because they think they got it all, right?
- 36:34Like everybody's like, bro, you're killing it.
- 36:36What you're doing's awesome.
- 36:37Like, you have all the things you could ever want.
- 36:40And so they don't even realize how much of a problem they have.
- 36:43So that's why that that quote exists.
- 36:45But, you know, in terms of, um,
- 36:48why do we have this poverty minded, this poverty mindset and Christianity?
- 36:54There's definitely like a set of Christians that have that mindset.
- 36:57And, um, I think there's lots of reasons for it.
- 37:02So I can't name all of them.
- 37:04A couple of them are that, you know, uh,
- 37:07misinterpreting Bible verses, right?
- 37:10Like one second Corinthians nine six through seven says like,
- 37:13I don't know, that's, um, I'm talking about giving.
- 37:15But, you know, there's a Bible verse that talks about how,
- 37:17you know, you can't worship both God and money.
- 37:20You know, you can only be a slave to one.
- 37:22And the truth is, if you go back to what I said where it's like,
- 37:25okay, if I worship God and I just trust God for everything,
- 37:29money will come as a byproduct.
- 37:30Now, how much money?
- 37:32I don't know.
- 37:32But I know I'm going to be taken care of it.
- 37:34You know, you might end up a guy like me.
- 37:36You might end up, you know, middle class.
- 37:38You might end up whatever, right?
- 37:39But odds are, you know, you're going to be okay.
- 37:41And then there's what you would have prosperity.
- 37:44You know, my need Christians who think every Christian should be rich.
- 37:47Like, you know, God, but they believe that God blesses those,
- 37:53you know, who are true believers.
- 37:55And if, uh, you're not a true believer,
- 37:58that's why you're broke.
- 37:59Like that's their mindset.
- 38:00And that's also wrong.
- 38:01Um, the truth is God has given us all different skills and talents
- 38:05and abilities.
- 38:05And so, you know, we're called to just play our role.
- 38:08One of my favorite ideas, um, this is not my idea.
- 38:11I can't remember who I originally said this.
- 38:13But if you do not have God in your life,
- 38:15something else will replace God for you.
- 38:18Yeah, and it'll be advice.
- 38:19It'll be, it will kill those idols.
- 38:21Yeah, exactly.
- 38:22And I don't think that's healthy either.
- 38:24I think it's not readily.
- 38:25Well, and I'll say this too.
- 38:27And I, I'll say like I'm acting like I'm the most wholesome guy ever.
- 38:30I am not okay.
- 38:31So, you know, I've had many failures in my life.
- 38:34Man, I've been sued that people lose money.
- 38:38I've done everything you can imagine, man.
- 38:40I like, I don't do so.
- 38:41By the way, that is the right of business.
- 38:42I mean, if you build a big enough business,
- 38:44all this shit happens.
- 38:45Yeah, yeah.
- 38:45You're not going to, you know, bad a thousand, right?
- 38:48But, um, with that,
- 38:51you know, I've just kind of realized that,
- 38:54you know, I'm so thankful that
- 38:59I don't have to like live in that guilt.
- 39:02And I'm also thankful that my career is not my identity.
- 39:06Because, you know, there are times where
- 39:09man in business, I'd be killing it.
- 39:11Man, it's like, you know, everybody's like,
- 39:13bro, you know, how much did you guys do?
- 39:15You guys did so many deals.
- 39:16Look at how many views you're getting.
- 39:18You know, let's interview you about this thing, right?
- 39:21And then all of a sudden, next year,
- 39:22boom, doubles interest rates recession.
- 39:25I was like, dude, I'm losing money.
- 39:27What's going on here, right?
- 39:28And throughout it all, it's like,
- 39:31I just don't let my business career,
- 39:34you know, become my idol.
- 39:36Because that's what a lot of people do.
- 39:37And I struggled with that early on.
- 39:39And God kind of brought me through it with my baseball career.
- 39:42Because I was that way in baseball.
- 39:44Every day, you know, in baseball, you, you know,
- 39:46baseball is a lot different than in business.
- 39:48Because in baseball, you play every day.
- 39:50And your stats are public.
- 39:52Imagine if your bank account, your P&L was public.
- 39:54In every business, every day.
- 39:56They got updated.
- 39:57They're like, oh, Ryan.
- 39:58Dang, Ryan.
- 39:59They didn't make any money.
- 40:00They actually lost money on a deal.
- 40:02And everyone could see it.
- 40:04That's how sports is.
- 40:06It's all transparent.
- 40:07And, you know, that was hard for me as a 21-year-old, you know,
- 40:12trying to deal with.
- 40:13And then you get released.
- 40:15You get fired.
- 40:17And you get to deal with that.
- 40:19I think it's all public.
- 40:20It's all public.
- 40:21Everyone knows.
- 40:22And I did that for eight seasons, man.
- 40:24I had battling identity.
- 40:25And it wasn't until the end when I really
- 40:27started to understand like, man, this doesn't matter.
- 40:30Like, at the end of the day,
- 40:32I can't have my happiness and my peace be defined
- 40:35if I had a good game yesterday.
- 40:37Or if I had a good week.
- 40:39That was a good lesson for business, too.
- 40:41Yeah.
- 40:41And that's why when I came into business later,
- 40:44I had kind of learned all those lessons in my 20s.
- 40:47And I'm like, bro, I don't care if we have a bad week.
- 40:50I don't care if somebody's talking crap online.
- 40:52Yeah.
- 40:53Like, this is nothing.
- 40:54Was there an experience that sort of
- 40:57reshaped your definition of wealth from pure finance
- 41:02to like more of a holistic definition of wealth?
- 41:05Yeah.
- 41:06It was actually the birth of my son.
- 41:08So my son was born in January of 2019.
- 41:14He was born prematurely.
- 41:16So he's two months premature.
- 41:18And you know, I didn't like, it was crazy.
- 41:22You know, she's having contractions.
- 41:23We didn't know like, as her first child,
- 41:25we didn't know what was going on.
- 41:27Like, hey, the baby's coming like right now.
- 41:28And I'm like, dude, he's supposed to come in like two months.
- 41:31What do you mean right now?
- 41:32So stressful.
- 41:33And they're like, well, he's coming right now.
- 41:35And I'm like, is he going to make it?
- 41:38Like, this is pretty early.
- 41:40And they're like, well, we can't say.
- 41:42But, you know, just we're getting prepared.
- 41:45So, you know, I'm praying.
- 41:46Once again, seek God in every situation.
- 41:49And he's born.
- 41:51They say he's going to have a lot of complications and issues.
- 41:55He ends up having to stay in the NICU for two months.
- 41:58So, every day for two months, I had to go,
- 42:02you know, to the hospital in the morning to go see him,
- 42:04go see him with my wife at night.
- 42:06And it was a super stressful time, especially for my wife.
- 42:09You know, she's a brand new mom and she can't even be with her baby.
- 42:13And he can't breathe.
- 42:14He can't eat.
- 42:15He can't do anything.
- 42:16Like, he's got all these problems.
- 42:19You know, finally, we get to take him home.
- 42:22And dude, we're scared because he can't breathe.
- 42:25Like, I'm like, what if he stops breathing while he's at home?
- 42:29Yeah, you know, like, it's just stressful.
- 42:31And, you know, throughout that time too,
- 42:34you know, like, there's a very high chance he's going to have special needs.
- 42:38You know, you're going to have to start getting him in therapies
- 42:40and all these things every week.
- 42:41And so, you know, my wife's learning how to navigate that process of everything.
- 42:46And, you know, that first year was so extremely stressful and hard
- 42:51because it was just all new and all unknown.
- 42:54And also to during that year was like one of the times in business
- 42:57where like, we really had to do a big pivot.
- 42:59And like, it was very stressful as well.
- 43:02And so, I made the choice that year
- 43:05because my wife was really struggling with.
- 43:06And I said, you know what?
- 43:09I was already on the schedule of, you know,
- 43:11Monday through Friday, nine to five.
- 43:13Like, so, you know, for a lot of guys, it might be like, well, dude,
- 43:16I'm like, I'm home a lot.
- 43:18But I could tell that she needed more.
- 43:20And so, I said, you know what?
- 43:22I'm just not going to go and work on Wednesdays either.
- 43:24You know, I'm going to spend Wednesdays with just her
- 43:28and try to give her a break, kind of like be there for her right now
- 43:31in this really hard time.
- 43:33And I did that for most of the year.
- 43:38And that really like was what she needed at that time.
- 43:41And at the end of the year, this was about a week before Christmas.
- 43:47He fell and hit his head.
- 43:48And he had this big old knot on his head.
- 43:50So, we took him to the hospital.
- 43:52And, you know, we're like, is he okay?
- 43:54Like, what's the deal?
- 43:55And they're like, oh, he's fine.
- 43:56Don't worry about it.
- 43:57So, we took him home about two days later or a day later.
- 44:00I can't even remember.
- 44:02I'm looking at him.
- 44:03And we're like, he's not fine.
- 44:04Like, he's, like, he's just out of it.
- 44:06There's no way he's okay.
- 44:08So, we take him to a different hospital.
- 44:10They say, dude, we got to get him an MRI.
- 44:12Like, they didn't even
- 44:13MRI him or X-ray or anything.
- 44:15We're like, no, they said he was fine.
- 44:17So, get him an MRI.
- 44:18And they're like, his brain is bleeding.
- 44:21We need to like do surgery right now.
- 44:25And I was like, oh my gosh.
- 44:27And so, they prepare him for emergency surgery.
- 44:32I'm praying again.
- 44:34And I'm like, God, look,
- 44:36I give up everything to make sure
- 44:40that this surgery is successful.
- 44:42You could take the business.
- 44:43You could take the money.
- 44:45You could take literally everything.
- 44:48Just make sure he's successful.
- 44:50And I was like pleading.
- 44:53I'm like, I will devote everything to you
- 44:56to see him through.
- 44:58You know, you could have it all if you want it.
- 44:59But I'm going to devote everything to you
- 45:02if you can pull him through.
- 45:04And, you know, sure enough, he went for surgery overnight.
- 45:09You know, this is obviously super stressful.
- 45:11Just waiting for that.
- 45:12Like, we had no idea.
- 45:13He's not even a year old yet.
- 45:15And he makes it through.
- 45:18And also during that time too,
- 45:20my wife was pregnant and no one knew.
- 45:23So, we had so much going on that first year as parents.
- 45:28And, you know, he makes it through.
- 45:30We actually got to take him home on Christmas day.
- 45:32So, that was the present.
- 45:34Yeah.
- 45:35And I just learned from that year that,
- 45:40yeah, like I looked at death in the face
- 45:44with my kid, my first born.
- 45:46And I'm like, this ain't worth it.
- 45:48Like, it's not worth it to miss
- 45:50moments of his life being young.
- 45:52No amount of money is worth it.
- 45:54And I just was like, and I have enough money right now.
- 45:56Like, every step of the way,
- 45:58I felt like I've had enough money, you know?
- 46:00Like, whether I was making
- 46:01you know, 70 grand a month flipping couches
- 46:04or 100 grand a month, you know?
- 46:06We've had a million dollar a month.
- 46:07And like, I have not felt any different
- 46:09as far as the money goes.
- 46:11I've just always like, from that moment forward,
- 46:13I realized, man, it doesn't matter.
- 46:17Like, this is what matters.
- 46:19So, you'd never want to wish
- 46:20that experience on anyone else because that's horrible.
- 46:23Yeah.
- 46:24And I think what I want to sort of ask you and pull out of you is
- 46:28for somebody who's not gone through that experience,
- 46:33what is your words of wisdom for them
- 46:36so that they can understand
- 46:38why they can conceptualize how
- 46:41something can be more important
- 46:43than the business or building
- 46:44or the money they're making.
- 46:45Because I agree when you go through rock bottom,
- 46:47it gets very clear.
- 46:48But what I'm trying to figure out is
- 46:50how do you teach that over to somebody
- 46:52before they've gone through this rock bottom moment?
- 46:55Unfortunately, most people have the experience
- 46:58things for themselves.
- 47:01And I've been that way on many lessons.
- 47:03You know, I've had so many mentors
- 47:04and people come through these doors like Ryan,
- 47:07this is what you should be doing.
- 47:08This is what you should be doing.
- 47:09And I'm like, yeah, I'm going to keep doing with this.
- 47:12And sure enough, they're right.
- 47:14You know, years later, I'm like,
- 47:15bro, I should've listened to you,
- 47:16but sometimes you just got to take the punches to realize it.
- 47:21So, I mean, like, if you're in the minority
- 47:23and you're able to take it a story like that
- 47:25and truly feel the pain and like,
- 47:28just apply it to your life and kudos.
- 47:32But most people are...
- 47:33You've mentioned a few times.
- 47:34You spend time before major decisions, life events,
- 47:38praying, talking to God.
- 47:41This may sound like a little bit of a strange question,
- 47:43but I actually think it's useful for some people
- 47:45that actually do take that time before big decisions.
- 47:49When you talk to God,
- 47:50do you ask him to just support you
- 47:54or are you trying to map out like a playbook with his help?
- 47:57I don't know if that makes sense.
- 47:58Are you looking for strategy forward?
- 48:00Are you looking for solace?
- 48:02I think there's...
- 48:04It just kind of depends where you're at in the process.
- 48:06So, here's the interesting thing.
- 48:09Because a lot of times, right?
- 48:10People are like, well, how do I hear from God
- 48:13or know he's talking to me?
- 48:14Right? Because it's one thing for me to be like,
- 48:16hey, God, here's the situation.
- 48:18This is a really big problem or a really big decision.
- 48:21What should I do?
- 48:22That part's easy.
- 48:23We can all just go pray and ask right now.
- 48:26The hard part is hearing from God, you know?
- 48:31The question is like, how do you hear from God?
- 48:33You know, is it like some audible voice
- 48:35and God's just like, do this, right?
- 48:38And this is where you go into the very supernatural side
- 48:41of Christianity because we are spiritual beings.
- 48:44I mean, like, I think most people would agree,
- 48:47you know, we have a spirit.
- 48:49And if you look at the Bible,
- 48:52I always just say when you look at the Bible.
- 48:53So I want everyone to know what I say.
- 48:54It's because it's like, this is not my opinion.
- 48:56This is just what has happened, right?
- 48:59Based on the SOP of life that I believe.
- 49:02So throughout the Bible, God speaks to people in so many ways, okay?
- 49:08On a practical side, he's audibly spoke to people.
- 49:13He sent his son, you know, to come speak and teach people while he was here.
- 49:19He sent prophets who spoke on his behalf, you know?
- 49:22He gave them vision.
- 49:23He speaks to people in dreams.
- 49:26He speaks to people through the scriptures, you know,
- 49:29which would be the Bible today.
- 49:30But even when they didn't have the Bible,
- 49:32they still spoke through the Old Testament scriptures
- 49:34to all of those people.
- 49:36Dude, he's even spoken through a burning bush,
- 49:38through a donkey's mouth.
- 49:40Like he will speak through the sky.
- 49:43He is spoken to people anyway and every way you can imagine.
- 49:47So for me, when I'm seeking an answer from God,
- 49:51the first thing has to be, man,
- 49:53number one, do I even have a deep enough relationship with God
- 49:57to know when he's speaking to me?
- 49:59Because I actually think God is speaking to a lot of people.
- 50:01Right now, I think that God is speaking through me
- 50:03to many people listening to this.
- 50:05But can you even recognize when he's trying to tell you something?
- 50:08Because he can tell you something through me.
- 50:10He can tell you something through a donkey.
- 50:12He can tell you something through a dream.
- 50:13He can speak in many different ways.
- 50:15But you would not be able to recognize it
- 50:17unless you actually have intimacy and a relationship with him,
- 50:20you know?
- 50:20It's like, you have no idea what my wife sounds like
- 50:23because you haven't met her.
- 50:25So like if she called you,
- 50:26you wouldn't really know it's my wife,
- 50:28but I would,
- 50:30because I have a deep intimate relationship.
- 50:32I know when she's calling me.
- 50:33I would know if she wrote something on the wall,
- 50:36even if she didn't address it.
- 50:38Because I know where handwriting looks like.
- 50:40I know how she does things.
- 50:41And that's how it is with God.
- 50:43You would have to know, man,
- 50:44is God speaking through somebody else right now?
- 50:46You know, how is he helping you through his decision?
- 50:48And so my point is,
- 50:50I've had him speak many ways on tough things,
- 50:53you know, to give an example with the YouTube thing.
- 50:55You know, I'm sitting there during COVID,
- 50:5750 properties.
- 50:58I'm not sure if I'm going to go under.
- 51:00I can't go outside,
- 51:01just the government locked us up.
- 51:03And I'm just like,
- 51:05all right, God, what do you want me to do?
- 51:08I literally can't do anything.
- 51:10And I'm kind of scared that this could all just tumble down.
- 51:15And I didn't hear anything right then and there.
- 51:19So I go about my day.
- 51:20Like, I don't, you know,
- 51:21I'm like, I need to hear an audible answer right now.
- 51:23And then I go about my day.
- 51:25So then, you know, there's,
- 51:26now, now here's to be clear too.
- 51:28I've had ideas about different things I want to do.
- 51:31Like I had thought about doing YouTube before.
- 51:34Everyone has a lot of ideas.
- 51:35Like it was never a conviction,
- 51:36but it was like, yeah,
- 51:37I think YouTube and being an influencer and stuff would be good.
- 51:40But like,
- 51:41clearly, I wasn't convicted to like pursue it, right?
- 51:44So I already had multiple ideas and things
- 51:46at the forefront that I thought.
- 51:47So I think that that's important to part of your question.
- 51:50So then I end up,
- 51:53later that day,
- 51:54I get a DM from a guy on Instagram.
- 51:56He goes, Ryan, have you ever thought about doing YouTube?
- 51:58And I was like,
- 52:00well, yeah, actually I have.
- 52:01I go, who do you, like,
- 52:03who do you like watching on YouTube?
- 52:04Like, oh, I like, um,
- 52:06you know, this guy Graham Stefan,
- 52:08and this guy meet Kevin.
- 52:09And dude, honestly, I watched zero YouTube.
- 52:11I didn't know any of them.
- 52:13I'm like, okay, whatever.
- 52:16Like an hour later,
- 52:17another guy DMs me.
- 52:18Ryan, I really think you should start a YouTube channel.
- 52:21And I'm like, huh?
- 52:23Okay.
- 52:25Then another like,
- 52:28I don't even know later in the day,
- 52:30my friend Kong,
- 52:32he's a big real estate guy like on TikTok and stuff now too.
- 52:34At that time, he was like doing TikTok.
- 52:36And nobody was doing TikTok yet.
- 52:38And he had told me a month before he's like,
- 52:39Ryan, you got to do TikTok.
- 52:41It's the big thing.
- 52:42It's going to be the next big thing.
- 52:44I'm like, Kong, I ain't trying to go be
- 52:46freaking some guy dancing around like you
- 52:49doing the stupid TikTok.
- 52:50He attacks me that day.
- 52:51He goes, Ryan,
- 52:53did you start TikTok?
- 52:54Did you,
- 52:54you committed that you were at least going to start a prop?
- 52:56Did you do it?
- 52:58I was like, all right, God.
- 53:00I see this, this is clear.
- 53:02So I'm like, I guess I'm going to do YouTube and TikTok.
- 53:06And that's what I did during COVID.
- 53:07I did it for like three months.
- 53:09And within three months,
- 53:10I had a hundred thousand followers on TikTok.
- 53:12I had a, I don't even know,
- 53:15like maybe 10,000 subscribers on YouTube or something.
- 53:18You know, I got monetized by the end of the year.
- 53:20I had 75,000 subscribers,
- 53:23like 400,000 TikTok followers.
- 53:25And it was all because I had prayed and asked.
- 53:27But I also was aware enough to see that God was speaking through me
- 53:32or through other people to confirm it.
- 53:34I'm going to, I'm going to add on one thing that I think
- 53:37happened that allowed you to do this.
- 53:39I think that because,
- 53:41again, you focus on like ancient wisdom,
- 53:43biblical principles,
- 53:44you have this balance in your life.
- 53:47When you have that balance,
- 53:48you have time to think.
- 53:49Oh, yeah, I'm for creative.
- 53:51Oh, yeah.
- 53:51That's a big one of ideas.
- 53:52Because when you don't have that balance in your life,
- 53:55if you think that working 100 hours a week is a good thing to do
- 53:58and you don't respect your family and your wife
- 54:00and your time to sit down for dinner with them,
- 54:04then you don't, you don't even realize
- 54:06when these ideas come to you that you should action on them
- 54:08or you're not paying attention to the DM you're getting
- 54:10or your friend telling you to start a TikTok.
- 54:12I love that you brought that up.
- 54:15We would call that margin.
- 54:16You had to have enough margin in your life
- 54:18to allow things to happen, right?
- 54:21Because if you're just literally booked out.
- 54:23So like, you know,
- 54:24the reason why you have margin in your life
- 54:26is because again, you follow.
- 54:28Yeah, and I plan for margin.
- 54:29Yeah.
- 54:30Like, I don't think I have to fill my schedule
- 54:32for 12 hours a day with stuff.
- 54:34It's like, no, I got nine to five stuff.
- 54:36And then all the other time is margin.
- 54:38Yeah.
- 54:39And even during the work day,
- 54:41I have a lot of margin.
- 54:42Like today, I didn't...
- 54:44Like, I'll have to do this film with you.
- 54:46But then I just, you know,
- 54:47I find things to do that I think are the best use.
- 54:49But my team will tell you,
- 54:52in the morning is when I pray and,
- 54:55you know, it's always around like five,
- 54:5730 to six, 30.
- 54:59So I pray and do my morning routine.
- 55:02And I text them when I pray
- 55:04because I don't want to forget.
- 55:05You know, I'll be in prayer.
- 55:06I'll be reading the Bible.
- 55:08And then like, I'll just get a thought.
- 55:10And I'll be like, hey guys, we need to do this.
- 55:12Nobody responds.
- 55:16And then I just keep doing, you know,
- 55:17I just keep on my day.
- 55:18Keep praying and doing my thing.
- 55:19Like, oh yeah, let's do this.
- 55:22Okay, we're going to get this person at the event.
- 55:23Yeah.
- 55:24And like, it's because
- 55:26it's not even that I'm thinking about that thing.
- 55:28I'm not like, man, who's supposed to be at the event?
- 55:32Like, what's the next great ad idea?
- 55:34What's the marketing strategy?
- 55:36It just comes to me.
- 55:38And I believe that that is, you know, divine.
- 55:41I'm actually curious if you got pushed back
- 55:44from an entrepreneurial community
- 55:46when you started including faith in more of your content.
- 55:48Oh, for sure.
- 55:49Yeah.
- 55:50I mean, the Bible says that's going to happen.
- 55:53Persecution will come.
- 55:54So talk to me about, you have this beautiful room
- 55:57where you do events.
- 55:58I think that there's there's
- 56:00God, faith, Jesus Bible, including these events.
- 56:03I was listening to one another podcast
- 56:04and you said that you just started to like just embed it.
- 56:07Yeah, like, it's like, yeah,
- 56:08casually, like, if you're doing an event,
- 56:09we're going to throw a little bit of God into this event now.
- 56:11Yep.
- 56:12Is that been a net positive for the business?
- 56:14Um, probably not.
- 56:16But to be honest,
- 56:17yeah, you know what, here he is.
- 56:18Well, you know, I think I got more, um,
- 56:21bold, let's say the last two years and, uh,
- 56:25yeah, speaking of like one of our events, right, um,
- 56:27you know, we used to hold an event every quarter
- 56:29called WealthCon.
- 56:30Now we're going to do it just once a year.
- 56:31But, you know, we did this literally every quarter for five years
- 56:35and it just kept growing every quarter.
- 56:36It was like 10 people, then 50 people,
- 56:39then 100, then a thousand plus every quarter.
- 56:42And so, you know, we got really good thrown events
- 56:45just doing them so frequently.
- 56:46But, you know, during WealthCon,
- 56:48I mean, people have always known on my Christian,
- 56:49it just started to get way more extreme.
- 56:52And I just became way more convicted the last couple of years.
- 56:56Why?
- 56:57Yeah.
- 56:58Um, I had something happen.
- 57:03This is where now we're going to go into like some theological things.
- 57:06But in the Christian faith and some denominations,
- 57:10there's something called the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
- 57:13And so without getting too in depth about it,
- 57:16it's essentially like this supernatural rebirth,
- 57:20where now God is just like essentially like lighting you on fire to like
- 57:26just at this whole new level of faith.
- 57:28So it's very different than, you know,
- 57:30when you first get saved for a lot of people where, um,
- 57:33you know, I grew up in the church, like I said,
- 57:35like I've been saved a long time.
- 57:36Um, but it was kind of like this second awakening, I should say.
- 57:40And this, this, this is biblical.
- 57:42It happened in Acts, you know,
- 57:44there's people getting saved all the time.
- 57:45And then Paul's like, dude, you guys are, um,
- 57:48you know, the disciples keep going to these people are like,
- 57:50you don't have the Holy Spirit yet.
- 57:51Let me bless you with the Holy Spirit.
- 57:53And so, you know, the Holy Spirit comes on them.
- 57:56And they start performing supernatural things.
- 57:58You know, they start healing people.
- 57:59They start speaking in tongues and all these other things.
- 58:02So that's literally what happened to me.
- 58:04Like I started speaking in tongues and performing supernatural things.
- 58:08And I was like, this is crazy.

- 59:45What do you mean performing super natural things?
- 59:47Like seeing people healed,
- 59:50speaking in tongues is like an unknown language.
- 59:55You know, other things with just like visions and dreams
- 59:59and like, this is what's happening to you.
- 1:00:00Two years ago, yeah.
- 1:00:01There was no reason why it happened.
- 1:00:03But it happened because I was at an event.
- 1:00:06I was actually at a Christian event.
- 1:00:08And I was actually unfamiliar with this belief
- 1:00:11because I didn't grow up in a church
- 1:00:12that really kind of talked about that.
- 1:00:14They're just like, you don't get say.
- 1:00:17Yeah, exactly.
- 1:00:17Like I grew up in a very conservative denomination
- 1:00:19where you'll see people like just getting healed at church
- 1:00:22and like people prophesying over other people
- 1:00:25talking about things that,
- 1:00:27you know, a lot of it is the stuff you would see on YouTube
- 1:00:30that looks all weird
- 1:00:32and everything else in your life,
- 1:00:33dude, that looks like fake.
- 1:00:34That's how I thought about it the whole time, right?
- 1:00:36And there's definitely some of that,
- 1:00:38like everything on YouTube.
- 1:00:39Everything, who knows what's fake?
- 1:00:41Who knows what's right?
- 1:00:41Right, like I feel like the don't believe everything
- 1:00:44you read on the internet is not.
- 1:00:45Yeah, exactly, right?
- 1:00:46So I was always skeptical until I started seeing it
- 1:00:50literally firsthand and it was undeniable.
- 1:00:52And you know, I had someone lay hands on me.
- 1:00:55He was like, you know,
- 1:00:57do you, you know, like wanted to,
- 1:01:01do you want to basically that kind of power?
- 1:01:02Do you want to accept it in your life?
- 1:01:04And I'm like, I don't even know what this is,
- 1:01:06but sure, it was like lightning shot through me.
- 1:01:10And the best way to like explain it was,
- 1:01:14I just didn't even, I even went to my wife.
- 1:01:16I mean, we've been believers our whole lives
- 1:01:17and I was like, they, I really don't even know
- 1:01:19what just happened to me.
- 1:01:21And I explained it to her the way I'm explained to you now.
- 1:01:23I was like, I started speaking in some language.
- 1:01:25I don't even know, like this is weird.
- 1:01:27Gladden.
- 1:01:29Tongues are like in the Bible, it describes it
- 1:01:31as a heavenly language.
- 1:01:32So it's not a language of their
- 1:01:34Mac. No, not even.
- 1:01:36No, I mean, if you, if you just go on YouTube
- 1:01:38and you search speaking in tongues,
- 1:01:39you'll see like, I've never gone down this rabbit hole.
- 1:01:41This is going to really change my explore page.
- 1:01:43Yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:43So go down this rabbit hole about baptism of the Holy Spirit.
- 1:01:47Like I said, there's a lot of denominations
- 1:01:49who don't necessarily believe in it.
- 1:01:50And I was one of those people.
- 1:01:51And then I experienced it and I'm like, this is crazy.
- 1:01:55So, you know, like, and I'll give an example too, like,
- 1:01:59just literally three months ago,
- 1:02:00or no, two months ago, my business coach, his name's Gary,
- 1:02:03he called me and he had a, he was crying.
- 1:02:06It was like 630 in the morning.
- 1:02:08And I was like, why is my business coach called me?
- 1:02:10It's 630 in the morning crying.
- 1:02:11He goes, dude, I just found out I have a tumor on my kidney.
- 1:02:15It's a size of a grapefruit.
- 1:02:17And I was like, well, let's pray, you know?
- 1:02:20Like, let's pray for healing right now.
- 1:02:22And so we pray over the phone.
- 1:02:25You know, I can feel something happening.
- 1:02:27And he's like, okay, well, you know, I have to go get checked up.
- 1:02:32They're going to check if it's cancer
- 1:02:33and everything else six hours from now.
- 1:02:35He, by the way, he's already had Lyme disease and other things.
- 1:02:38Like, you know, he's not in the best shape.
- 1:02:41He's had a lot of different physical things over his life.
- 1:02:44And so, but, you know, we pray.
- 1:02:46And he's like, dude, I like feel like a lot of peace and like warm,
- 1:02:50like my body feels really warm right now.
- 1:02:52Am I okay?
- 1:02:54Six hours later, he calls me.
- 1:02:56He's like, dude, you'll never believe this.
- 1:02:58I got a bet you I will.
- 1:02:59And he says, they said the tumor has liquefied.
- 1:03:06It's actually just now full of fluid.
- 1:03:08They're only in half the do surgery.
- 1:03:10All they have to do is just put a pin in it and drain it.
- 1:03:13And it's gone.
- 1:03:14Okay.
- 1:03:15Yeah, that's wild.
- 1:03:16That was like two months ago.
- 1:03:18So, I have literally not only witnessed,
- 1:03:22but been a part, I mean, if that happens,
- 1:03:24you I can understand why you eviction.
- 1:03:26Well, that's why I'm like, people just need to know.
- 1:03:28Like, none of the stuff matters because I've just seen it now first hand.
- 1:03:31And I've seen people, you know, do prophetic things.
- 1:03:34Prophecy, meaning like talk about things to come that have happened in my life.
- 1:03:38Mm-hmm.
- 1:03:38So, of course, I have a follow up with this.
- 1:03:40Because I understand why you have conviction.
- 1:03:42Yep.
- 1:03:43I understand why I included in your messaging.
- 1:03:45And on YouTube and with the events you hold.
- 1:03:48But you also have to understand that this would turn people off from it.
- 1:03:51Oh, for sure.
- 1:03:52Yeah, people what's listening to this right now don't believe me.
- 1:03:54But if your goal is to help as many people as possible,
- 1:03:56you have to find a way to
- 1:03:59sit with your convictions.
- 1:04:01It still reaches wide an audience as possible.
- 1:04:03Yeah, and I agree.
- 1:04:04So, on number one, the way you help people is by giving them the truth, right?
- 1:04:09You know, so I think it's first and foremost always delivering the truth.
- 1:04:12Whether they like it or not, that's on them.
- 1:04:14Now, do I got to just make everything about faith?
- 1:04:18I'm just going to do what?
- 1:04:20Well, however we didn't know we were going to talk about this, right?
- 1:04:22Like, it's just, hey, this is what we're talking about.
- 1:04:25But, like, at my events, right?
- 1:04:27Like, I have secular events for profit.
- 1:04:30You know, we're going to teach you how to make money,
- 1:04:32do real estate, all that stuff.
- 1:04:34So, I don't stop doing all the normal things that anyone can be a part of.
- 1:04:39But, like, what ended up happening in my event?
- 1:04:40How this whole conversation started?
- 1:04:42So, two years ago, that happened to me, right?
- 1:04:44So, I'm starting to talk about faith more at events, like, you know, whatever.
- 1:04:48So, then somebody says, dude, we should do, like, a prayer meeting at the next event.
- 1:04:53I was like, all right, let's do a prayer meeting.
- 1:04:55Like, we'll do it like 7.30 before the event that starts at 9.
- 1:04:59And, you know, we'll just pray over everybody.
- 1:05:01It's going to be beautiful.
- 1:05:02Mind you, you know, there's a thousand people at the event.
- 1:05:05Well, I do a prayer meeting.
- 1:05:06I'm thinking maybe like 50 people show up 100.
- 1:05:09Like, you know, it's early.
- 1:05:10We just were out late the night before.
- 1:05:12400 people showed up.
- 1:05:14And I was like, oh, this is the thing.
- 1:05:17All right.
- 1:05:18Well, I'm like, well, I can't like pray.
- 1:05:21Like, we're going to have to give a sermon.
- 1:05:23So, I basically just give an impromptu sermon.
- 1:05:26And so, then, you know, everybody loves it.
- 1:05:29And they're like, dude, next time we should bring, you know,
- 1:05:32somebody to do worship music.
- 1:05:34Like, let's bring a guitar and like a little thing.
- 1:05:37And we'll do worship and stuff.
- 1:05:38And I go, if we're going to go through all that,
- 1:05:40we might as well just rock out on the stage
- 1:05:43and just do it all out there.
- 1:05:44Why are we going to like do it like half effort?
- 1:05:47And so, the next wealth, I go, all right, here's the thing.
- 1:05:49You know, we're going to do a worship service.
- 1:05:52It's going to be part of the event 9 a.m.
- 1:05:54on day two, right in the middle.
- 1:05:56And it's going to be like an hour and a half.
- 1:05:58You know, it's going to be a big part of it.
- 1:06:01We're going to sing.
- 1:06:02We're going to pray for people.
- 1:06:03We're going to see people get saved.
- 1:06:04I'm going to bring in a famous pastor to give a message.
- 1:06:07And we did that and people loved it.
- 1:06:11You know, some people, well, a lot of people loved it.
- 1:06:13But you know, some people are like, I ain't going to that.
- 1:06:15You know, because I put it on the schedule.
- 1:06:16I was like, hey, it's optional if you guys want to come.
- 1:06:19If not, come at like 10 30.
- 1:06:20Yeah.
- 1:06:21But we always went long.
- 1:06:23So they were there anyways.
- 1:06:25So we ended up in it anyways.
- 1:06:26So then after that,
- 1:06:28each time they're after I was just like,
- 1:06:29I'm not even putting it in the event.
- 1:06:31Like just show up 9 to 5.
- 1:06:34And you know, day two, you're going to walk into
- 1:06:36something you weren't expecting.
- 1:06:37I think the people, I think it hits with so many people.
- 1:06:40I mean, it's going to turn some people off.
- 1:06:42You bring this into your message.
- 1:06:43But it's you.
- 1:06:44So I think that you should bring it in.
- 1:06:45I mean, yeah, it is part of.
- 1:06:46Yeah.
- 1:06:46And they know what I believe.
- 1:06:48Exactly.
- 1:06:48And I think that's, I think,
- 1:06:49and I think that you attract the people that
- 1:06:52are meant to hear what you have to say.
- 1:06:53That's really important.
- 1:06:54But I also think that a lot of people right now
- 1:06:55in like, you know,
- 1:06:56try and keep this evergreen as possible.
- 1:06:59And the 2024.
- 1:07:00So you know, we recorded this.
- 1:07:01But I think a lot of people feel lost and stressed
- 1:07:06I think that again, there is godlessness.
- 1:07:09And people that know to replace it with.
- 1:07:11Now life is just stressful and anxiety inducing.
- 1:07:15And they want, and they need people.
- 1:07:16People need something.
- 1:07:18People are hungry, dude.
- 1:07:19Yeah.
- 1:07:20I've seen people more hungry than ever
- 1:07:22to at least hear about faith because, yeah.
- 1:07:25You know, I think we went through from 2016 to 2022, 2023.
- 1:07:30Whereas like everybody's wanted to be woke.
- 1:07:33And it's counter-cultural to do this.
- 1:07:35Like if you like Trump,
- 1:07:36freaking everyone wants to start
- 1:07:38thinks you're a bigot.
- 1:07:39Yeah.
- 1:07:40You know, they're doing all this weird stuff
- 1:07:43and holly was scared people away from traditional values.
- 1:07:46Yeah.
- 1:07:46Like, dude, for you saying,
- 1:07:47oh, I don't believe in gay marriage is like,
- 1:07:50oh, bro, you're a bigot.
- 1:07:51It's like, no, this is literally.
- 1:07:55This is what I believe.
- 1:07:56It's not on my bigot.
- 1:07:57It's like, you know, whatever, right?
- 1:08:00That's the whole thing.
- 1:08:01Now, people are finally kind of, I would say,
- 1:08:04back to center where it's like, you know, yeah, no.
- 1:08:07Nobody thinks it's cool to be woke anymore.
- 1:08:09You know, you got idiots who do.
- 1:08:11But, you know, I think majority of America,
- 1:08:13I mean, they just spoke through the election, right?
- 1:08:15Majority of America is like,
- 1:08:16nah, we don't even want to be close to what those people
- 1:08:19that were even like liberal.
- 1:08:22We're now getting ostracized by their own people.
- 1:08:25Yeah, so yeah, it's just ridiculous, right?
- 1:08:28And so it became this narrative of like hyper liberalism
- 1:08:31was like, supposedly the norm.
- 1:08:33It's like, no, dude, it's not, okay?
- 1:08:35So I think like, the world is now more center.
- 1:08:38And yeah, I mean, they're more open to receiving now.
- 1:08:43Yeah, I mean, it's okay to have a family.
- 1:08:44It's okay to have kids.
- 1:08:46Weird, yeah.
- 1:08:47Okay, that I have faith.
- 1:08:48Like, I don't these are bad things.
- 1:08:51They were.
- 1:08:52They were definitely, uh, they were.
- 1:08:55They were not looked highly of the past couple of years.
- 1:08:58They've been just nuts.
- 1:08:58I mean, you have a human corpse as the president for four years.
- 1:09:02People are like, bro, like, okay, everyone said he was a corpse.
- 1:09:07And we tried to, okay, we don't really believe anything.
- 1:09:10I think I think everything's healing now.
- 1:09:11Yeah, everything's healing.
- 1:09:13What are you working on now?
- 1:09:14You have a nonprofit?
- 1:09:15Yeah, yeah, we have a nonprofit called wealthy kingdom.
- 1:09:17You go to wealthy kingdom.com.
- 1:09:19So anyone who's like listening to what I'm saying is like,
- 1:09:21dude, I love it.
- 1:09:22Just go there and get plugged in.
- 1:09:24You know, we have a free community.
- 1:09:26We do free Zoom calls every month or every week based on what the,
- 1:09:29like, what is it?
- 1:09:30Oh, so, okay, great point.
- 1:09:31So, um, the mission of wealthy kingdom is to bring the kingdom,
- 1:09:35the Christian kingdom.
- 1:09:36So we believe to the marketplace.
- 1:09:38And so, you know, I believe that Bible verse actually reference
- 1:09:42that it's harder for a rich person to get in heaven
- 1:09:44than it is for a camel to go through the eye of the needle.
- 1:09:46And, um, I'm trying to help business people see,
- 1:09:50you know, what it's like, you know,
- 1:09:51because I don't expect them to just walk through church on a Sunday.
- 1:09:54I don't expect them to understand these things.
- 1:09:56But, you know, if you get around other, like you and I right now,
- 1:09:59we're having a conversation.
- 1:10:00It's like, because we're business people,
- 1:10:01because we have similar problems and, you know, similar interests.
- 1:10:05Like, we can have a conversation about this versus
- 1:10:08you might not be just hanging out with the pastor,
- 1:10:10you know, like having these conversations.
- 1:10:13And so, I think that it's good for other business people
- 1:10:15to get around other business people,
- 1:10:17whether you're a believer or non-believer.
- 1:10:18And so, we do that.
- 1:10:20We also have small groups all across the world.
- 1:10:23So, we have, I think, 80 of them right now going on.
- 1:10:26That's, that's good.
- 1:10:27Yeah, that's very good.
- 1:10:28So, they're in offices, they're in homes,
- 1:10:31you know, mines every Wednesday.
- 1:10:33Um, we, we have them literally all over the world.
- 1:10:35And some virtual, but most of them are local.
- 1:10:38So, like, we could plug you into a local ones, all free.
- 1:10:41Um, then we're doing free events, uh,
- 1:10:44called Kingdom Nights.
- 1:10:45And so, we got a couple of those already planned for the next couple of months.
- 1:10:48Uh, those are going to be amazing.
- 1:10:51And I think that my goal with those is to do two things.
- 1:10:54So, it's like, it's, it's two nights.
- 1:10:55Well, two days I should say one night
- 1:10:57and then the next morning.
- 1:10:59But the, the first night is what I would call the spiritual side of faith.
- 1:11:02So, all things we're talking about.
- 1:11:03Like, I believe that there's going to be people who get healed.
- 1:11:06There's people who are going to have anxiety and depression
- 1:11:09and things just freed from their life.
- 1:11:11I've seen it so many times now at this point.
- 1:11:14Um, and so, we're going to be praying for people
- 1:11:17and really showing that side.
- 1:11:19And then day two is for the logical guys like you and me
- 1:11:22who, um, really need some tactical things
- 1:11:25on how to grow closer with God,
- 1:11:27how to apply this into their life.
- 1:11:29And so, um, I'll be teacher for like three hours straight about tactically.
- 1:11:33You know, here's how we incorporate God into our family.
- 1:11:36Here's how we do it in business.
- 1:11:37Here's how we do it.
- 1:11:38Just one-on-one.
- 1:11:40So, I'm excited about those.
- 1:11:41And then, you know, we'll have one massive event
- 1:11:43called the Kingdom Summit in April.
- 1:11:45Amazing.
- 1:11:45Yeah.
- 1:11:47What would be a last, last piece of advice,
- 1:11:51you know, words of wisdom, insight,
- 1:11:53even something that I should have asked you
- 1:11:54that I didn't you want to leave the audience with?
- 1:11:56Yeah.
- 1:11:56I think, uh, obviously I've talked about like what I believe
- 1:11:59is the most important thing.
- 1:12:01I think on maybe a, um, lesser level,
- 1:12:06but obviously very important is,
- 1:12:09this is just what I tell all the business people and entrepreneurs.
- 1:12:12Like, I was a guy who pursued many things
- 1:12:14and I was successful at quite a few things.
- 1:12:17You know, I've had six seven-figure businesses at one time,
- 1:12:21you know, that I found it, that I've been the CEO of
- 1:12:23and like, you know, running them in all different ways.
- 1:12:26I have since simplified very, very streamlined.
- 1:12:30I still got, you know, multiple businesses,
- 1:12:31but they're all like, I would say I'm vertically integrated.
- 1:12:34They all complement one another.
- 1:12:35So, it's not even like, in my mind, they're that separated.
- 1:12:40But yeah, I would say, man, to be really great at something,
- 1:12:43you got to really focus and go all in.
- 1:12:47I've just been so guilty of trying to be a master of lots of things at once.
- 1:12:51And I think you can master a lot of skills.
- 1:12:53Like I, I have a lot of skills now,
- 1:12:56but it's because I only focused on those skills
- 1:12:59for a long period of time, you know.
- 1:13:01I was good at baseball because that's all I did for a long, long time.
- 1:13:04Then I did flipping houses for, you know, five, eight years.
- 1:13:08That's all I did before I then got on social media.
- 1:13:10Then I focused on social media for five years.
- 1:13:12That's all I did.
- 1:13:13Now I'm focused on the non-profit.
- 1:13:14It's like, that's a whole new world.
- 1:13:16If I want to have a great non-profit,
- 1:13:18I mean, like, I got to really focus on it.
- 1:13:20Where can people connect with you?
- 1:13:22I mean, you dropped one website,
- 1:13:24but all the other socials.
- 1:13:25Yeah, I think just follow me around Panada everywhere on social media.
- 1:13:29You know, obviously I have other,
- 1:13:30I have actual real businesses too.
- 1:13:32You know, like, people can learn to invest in real estate
- 1:13:36by going to wealthyinvestor.com.
- 1:13:38We teach people how to do that.
- 1:13:39I'll put everything in.
- 1:13:40Yeah, Joe notes too.
- 1:13:40So all the links everywhere.
- 1:13:41We'll put them in the show notes.
- 1:13:43So last question I like to ask.
- 1:13:45What would be one lesson that you want to leave your kids with?
- 1:13:48Okay, so besides follow Jesus,
- 1:13:51because that's definitely for me all I care about.
- 1:13:53But like, people have asked me too.
- 1:13:54They're like, do you want your kids to play baseball?
- 1:13:56Do you want them to do real estate?
- 1:13:58I'm super into golf now.
- 1:13:59Like, do you think they're going to play golf?
- 1:14:01And I'm like, honestly,
- 1:14:02I do not care what they want to do for a profession or a career.
- 1:14:05All I care about is that they follow Jesus.
- 1:14:08If they do that, they could do whatever.
- 1:14:10I'll support them if they want to start a bakery,
- 1:14:12you know, whatever.
- 1:14:13So that's for sure the main lesson.
- 1:14:16The second thing I would say is for them,
- 1:14:22man, I just got to teach them work ethic.
- 1:14:24And that's something that I have because I was forced to have it.
- 1:14:29You know, my parents lost everything in the great recession.
- 1:14:32I had to provide for myself while pursuing a career.
- 1:14:35While being married young, while figuring out like, you know,
- 1:14:39no mentors or anything like social media wasn't what it is today.
- 1:14:43And so I was able to work really hard.
- 1:14:46And I think that I just really want my kids to work hard.
- 1:14:50I don't want them to be lazy.
- 1:14:52They're going to grow up in a very different way than I did.
- 1:14:55You know, they're going to grow up around wealth
- 1:14:57and like all these resources.
- 1:14:59And like, it's going to be normal for them to be with like,
- 1:15:02celebrities and, you know, vacations and all these things.
- 1:15:06So it's like, I'm really trying to figure out,
- 1:15:08man, how can I make sure they also are made tough and go through hard things?
- 1:15:14Because it's important, you know, how?
- 1:15:16Did, you know, that's one of the biggest issues that you, you know, like,
- 1:15:19yeah, making sure once you've achieved success,
- 1:15:22that your kids don't turn into like entitled assholes.
- 1:15:24Exactly.
- 1:15:25No, and that's what I'm like really now that I'm, you know,
- 1:15:27I'm not there yet where it's, you know, my oldest is five.
- 1:15:31So I'm not there yet where it's, it's, you know, a problem quite yet.
- 1:15:37But, you know, I think this is actually good lesson.
- 1:15:39I don't think it's important to have all the answers right now.
- 1:15:41You know, I think for me, I got eight million other problems.
- 1:15:45That one is obviously a upcoming problem as time goes on.
- 1:15:49But I don't think that it needs to get solved right this moment.
- 1:15:52And I think that people need to realize that's okay.
