- 0:06Speaker 1: Head Bugs. Welcome into the Irish Leitis podcast, the podcast
- 0:09Speaker 1: for Pittsburgh Steelers fans across the island of Ireland and beyond.
- 0:13Speaker 1: We're coming to you just after Week fourteen, Sunday, after
- 0:17Speaker 1: a really busy weekend of football, and coming to you
- 0:20Speaker 1: after another Steelers wins, Steelers getting the double. You go
- 0:22Speaker 1: into ten and fleet on the season of twenty seven
- 0:25Speaker 1: to fourteen win against the Cleveland Browns and we will
- 0:27Speaker 1: go into that in the week second. But delighted to
- 0:29Speaker 1: be joined with Jimmy with Dave log again going into
- 0:33Speaker 1: week fifteen. Top of that in a bit, Jimmy, good
- 0:35Speaker 1: to see you. I always good to get a win.
- 0:37Speaker 1: How are you doing you good? I'm great, Mack.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Yet always good.
- 0:41Speaker 3: To get a win, especially good to get a win
- 0:43Speaker 3: against an Arc North rival and get that Browns monkey
- 0:47Speaker 3: off our back.
- 0:48Speaker 2: And honestly, I had no idea how yesterday was gonna go.
- 0:52Speaker 2: We got the result. I was out in Dublin City
- 0:55Speaker 2: yesterday evening.
- 0:56Speaker 3: So great to see and connect with some of the
- 0:58Speaker 3: Irish American football community in Ireland as well. It's definitely
- 1:02Speaker 3: it's an area of interest and passion that's growing rapidly
- 1:05Speaker 3: on the island. So it was great to see a
- 1:07Speaker 3: community of fans gathered in Boskers on the ball. Big
- 1:10Speaker 3: shout shout out to Kieran as well for sticking to Steeters.
- 1:13Speaker 3: Game on for me so I could, I could watch
- 1:15Speaker 3: the guys in black and gold. But look, a great
- 1:18Speaker 3: weekend of football around and the weeks are really really
- 1:22Speaker 3: rolling in now. It could be it'd be a Christmas
- 1:24Speaker 3: Day before we know it, and we all know what's
- 1:26Speaker 3: coming down the line at six o'clock Irish time.
- 1:29Speaker 2: So we'll we'll talk about that a little bit more
- 1:31Speaker 2: at a later stage.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Yeah, next Hume Giame, as you said, Christmas Day, lots
- 1:37Speaker 1: of Steelers fans, seen videos of Steelers fans and Dublin
- 1:39Speaker 1: last night. As you said, Jimmy Steeve, the videos Steeters
- 1:42Speaker 1: fans in Goalway, video Steeters fans in Belfoss as well
- 1:44Speaker 1: as getting the run definitely video Steelers fans and Derry Tresk,
- 1:48Speaker 1: Dove Ug Big David Tron yesterday. But an even bigger
- 1:51Speaker 1: day for the Pittsburgh Steelters. How do you feeling after
- 1:54Speaker 1: this wins generally?
- 1:57Speaker 4: And yeah, the big day for for everyone, especially the
- 2:02Speaker 4: Cleveland Browns.
- 2:03Speaker 2: They got hit with storm Dora.
- 2:05Speaker 4: I don't know how they sort of ended up with that,
- 2:07Speaker 4: but no, I'm really really happy with what I've seen
- 2:10Speaker 4: last night. But as Jimmy sort of said, it's an
- 2:12Speaker 4: important victory going into the remaining four games, which arguably
- 2:16Speaker 4: is the most difficult in the remaining schedule in the
- 2:19Speaker 4: whole NFL. I mean, if you look at the space
- 2:21Speaker 4: of ten days, we're in Philly, we're up Baltimore, and
- 2:24Speaker 4: then he hoped the chief some Christmas desk. Jimmy's already
- 2:26Speaker 4: talked about before wrapping up the season at home to
- 2:29Speaker 4: the Bengals, so you don't get much tougher than that.
- 2:32Speaker 4: So in reality, this felt like a must win game,
- 2:34Speaker 4: and to come out with the win in the end
- 2:36Speaker 4: was was was a massive positive. So yeah, it's it's
- 2:40Speaker 4: it's a great place to be. We're now ten and
- 2:41Speaker 4: three SoCon Believe, Sac and Seed in the FC joint
- 2:45Speaker 4: with the Bills off of there lost to the Rams
- 2:48Speaker 4: in that very high scoring game. It was an enjoyable
- 2:51Speaker 4: watch as well, So I'm very much the same. Christmas
- 2:55Speaker 4: isn't that long away, but I'll tell you what I'm
- 2:57Speaker 4: counting down to days because that Christmas present we get
- 3:00Speaker 4: on Christmas Day at home with the Chiefs. I mean,
- 3:03Speaker 4: still doesn't feel right, to be honest, but I'm really
- 3:06Speaker 4: looking forward to that. I'm looking forward to breaking that
- 3:07Speaker 4: one down in a couple of weeks time as well.
- 3:10Speaker 1: On Christmas Day, I'll have you boys on at eleven.
- 3:12Speaker 1: I'm joking match on Christmas Night. Just on that. Yeah,
- 3:16Speaker 1: we will talk through the schedule a bit, but you're
- 3:18Speaker 1: buying on ten ten days in the row there and
- 3:21Speaker 1: then after this week a Saturday game before Christmas Day
- 3:24Speaker 1: as well, So a lot of stuff televised. We'll talk
- 3:26Speaker 1: about that in the week. Seconds. It's going to be
- 3:29Speaker 1: interesting just over the next few weeks, I guess. I guess.
- 3:31Speaker 1: First off, Jimmy, just to talk about this game, we
- 3:34Speaker 1: see another improved performance from Russell Wilson. Is it fair
- 3:38Speaker 1: of me to say that this was a comfortable win?
- 3:40Speaker 1: I know the score line doesn't give that suggestion to
- 3:43Speaker 1: an extent, but for the vast majority of this game
- 3:46Speaker 1: it was relatively comfortable. Are we correct?
- 3:51Speaker 2: To be honest? Make they had me worried for the
- 3:54Speaker 2: first a quarter and a half.
- 3:55Speaker 3: It was a very slow start on offense. Russell Wilson
- 3:58Speaker 3: didn't seem to be on the same page as his receivers.
- 4:02Speaker 3: A couple of misthrows, you know, it didn't look great,
- 4:06Speaker 3: and then we started to get warmed up a little bit.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Maggie Harrison had a.
- 4:11Speaker 3: Great first couple of quarters with carrying the ball, obviously
- 4:14Speaker 3: got our first rushing rushing touchdown of the game and
- 4:18Speaker 3: our first touchdown overall. And then I don't think the
- 4:22Speaker 3: absence of George Pickens really helped, but it was great
- 4:24Speaker 3: to see some other receivers stepping up. Mike Williams had
- 4:27Speaker 3: a fantastic game that he had a great catch at
- 4:30Speaker 3: one stage where he twisted his body around, reminiscent of
- 4:34Speaker 3: one of Pickens's earlier catches in the season. Scotty Meller
- 4:37Speaker 3: stepped up as well, so big shout out to him.
- 4:39Speaker 3: But it's the same story as it has been all season.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Our defense kept us in this game, and a letter
- 4:44Speaker 3: offense to get going and get warmed up and to
- 4:47Speaker 3: have that slow start.
- 4:48Speaker 4: Look.
- 4:48Speaker 3: Our defense played absolutely lights out in this game. Two interceptions,
- 4:52Speaker 3: three sacks bent and I think that was, honestly, that
- 4:55Speaker 3: was the turning point for us this game. That kind
- 4:57Speaker 3: of gave a little bit of a spark when Bent
- 5:00Speaker 3: picked off Jameis Winson.
- 5:02Speaker 2: I think that might have woken us up a little bit.
- 5:05Speaker 2: But look, I mean just I think that was the
- 5:07Speaker 2: tone of the day as well. In general.
- 5:09Speaker 3: It was those big plays and Landon Roberts absolutely blew
- 5:12Speaker 3: up the Browns center one stage that was hilarious to
- 5:15Speaker 3: watch on repeat. I have to say I did enjoy
- 5:17Speaker 3: watching them multiple times. And then look again, towards the
- 5:21Speaker 3: end of the game, there was two absolutely crucial plays.
- 5:24Speaker 3: The Browns were driving back down the field and James
- 5:26Speaker 3: Pierre had an interception that kind of sealed things for us.
- 5:30Speaker 3: And on the very next possession Sediars possession, we punted
- 5:32Speaker 3: it away and none of the than Ben Scronik made
- 5:36Speaker 3: a massive, massive special teams play recovering the recovering the
- 5:41Speaker 3: fumble on the attempt to punt return. So I think
- 5:44Speaker 3: it was it was definitely a team victory overall. All
- 5:47Speaker 3: three phases played an important part in its victory. But
- 5:51Speaker 3: like I said, it was great to have. Great to
- 5:54Speaker 3: be able to rely on our defense and special teams
- 5:56Speaker 3: to make big plays and give our offense that chance
- 5:59Speaker 3: to develop. I mean, don't get me wrong, I mean
- 6:02Speaker 3: Russell Wilson Stead had a great game, and we did
- 6:04Speaker 3: have some very impressive plays there, and look we got
- 6:06Speaker 3: the w and it was very much a concerted effort
- 6:10Speaker 3: from all from all three groups.
- 6:11Speaker 1: I think, Yeah, davg going on what Jimmy said there,
- 6:14Speaker 1: you mentioned a couple of guys that you mentioned, Canda, Benson,
- 6:17Speaker 1: Chill and Ward had a great game as well, Davog,
- 6:19Speaker 1: Alex Highsmith, Patrick Queen, Elandon Roberts as well. It feels like,
- 6:25Speaker 1: and I know we've got a number of games coming up,
- 6:26Speaker 1: but it feels like watching those guys last night starting
- 6:29Speaker 1: to click a little bit whenever it needs to at
- 6:30Speaker 1: this time of the year, which is which is always
- 6:32Speaker 1: a great time to see.
- 6:33Speaker 4: I couldn't have said a batter MC. I mean three
- 6:35Speaker 4: phases of the ball. I think Tony Romo mentioned it
- 6:37Speaker 4: in the broadcast yesterday, in order to win a Super Bowl.
- 6:39Speaker 4: I know, what's a man who hasn't won Super Bowl,
- 6:41Speaker 4: but I think he knows a thing or two about
- 6:43Speaker 4: winning teams in the NFL. If you are good on
- 6:46Speaker 4: three phases of the ball, offense, defensive, special teams, you're
- 6:49Speaker 4: put yourself in a really good chance. So I think
- 6:51Speaker 4: we're clicking on all of those and just to sort
- 6:54Speaker 4: of back up on what Jimmy said, you know, we
- 6:55Speaker 4: started off extremely slow, you know, with summarize, I think
- 6:58Speaker 4: we had more punts in the first quarter yesterday than
- 7:01Speaker 4: we did against the Bengals and the first Browns game
- 7:03Speaker 4: and combined. So I think that really tells the story.
- 7:06Speaker 4: And it's almost as if, you know, the George Pickens,
- 7:08Speaker 4: you know, caught Russ off guard. Him not being available,
- 7:11Speaker 4: caught Rouss off guard as well as ourselves because there
- 7:13Speaker 4: was almost no offensive fluidity in the first quarter. You know,
- 7:16Speaker 4: I was a little worried when when Jamis threw that
- 7:19Speaker 4: down to Jerry Judy on the opening touchdown of the game,
- 7:21Speaker 4: and I felt like that feeling of here we go again,
- 7:24Speaker 4: you know, we're playing down the competition again. But thankfully,
- 7:27Speaker 4: there is something in this team that, just as Jimmy
- 7:30Speaker 4: said there about there's a massive splash. When this massive
- 7:33Speaker 4: splash play it happens, there's something that just reignites a
- 7:36Speaker 4: fire in this team on this occasion was the Canu
- 7:38Speaker 4: Batton intersaption. And I do we think we do have
- 7:41Speaker 4: to thank Dustin Hopkins as well, you know, because we
- 7:43Speaker 4: are benefiting a lot from kickers having off days. I
- 7:45Speaker 4: think we've seen Justin Tucker a couple of weeks ago
- 7:47Speaker 4: had a struggle again, struggling game against US. I think
- 7:50Speaker 4: actually only the Chargers on top of Bed the only
- 7:52Speaker 4: two teams that sort of benefit more from miss miss
- 7:55Speaker 4: field goals. So I don't really care at the end
- 7:57Speaker 4: of the day, but overall very happy. These next four
- 8:00Speaker 4: games though, is the main you know, of course, the
- 8:03Speaker 4: mee and goals for each team is to win the
- 8:04Speaker 4: brow and these next four games is really going to
- 8:07Speaker 4: you know, test our steal if you Like I mentioned
- 8:08Speaker 4: in the group chat last night, I feel like winning
- 8:10Speaker 4: two out of those four games should be enough to
- 8:13Speaker 4: win the division. But I feel that what we see
- 8:15Speaker 4: over the course of the next most determines how legitimate
- 8:17Speaker 4: we are superbrulguan tenders. And starting off with a red
- 8:20Speaker 4: hottie you've seen this weekend, I can't wait to sort
- 8:22Speaker 4: of pre preview it because it's again that we all
- 8:24Speaker 4: look forward to, you know, Pennsylvania Derby. If you like,
- 8:27Speaker 4: who wins Pennsylvania will be will be find out this Sunday.
- 8:29Speaker 1: But I'm really looking forward to that one testamental.
- 8:34Speaker 3: I think as well just to add on to what
- 8:36Speaker 3: Dave bog said there, Like you look at the rest
- 8:38Speaker 3: of our schedule, it's Philadelphia and Baltimore on the road.
- 8:41Speaker 3: I know they are road games, but even you know
- 8:44Speaker 3: that that Eagles game is looming, that Chiefs game is looming.
- 8:48Speaker 3: These are very very beatable teams. And we saw the
- 8:51Speaker 3: Chargers have been winning by this, sorry that the Chiefs
- 8:54Speaker 3: have been winning by the skin of their teeth the
- 8:55Speaker 3: past couple of weeks. You know, they almost lost against
- 8:58Speaker 3: the Chargers last night only for that field go climbing
- 9:00Speaker 3: off the left upright. Andy Reid couldn't even watch his
- 9:03Speaker 3: kicker making that making that attempt, and then in Philadelphia
- 9:07Speaker 3: didn't have a massive game against Carolina. So look, let's
- 9:10Speaker 3: be realistic here. We have a very very good chance
- 9:13Speaker 3: of moving up into second position in the in the
- 9:15Speaker 3: AFC overall, and maybe even here, like we can dare
- 9:19Speaker 3: the dream, we might even end up being the number
- 9:21Speaker 3: one seed in the AFC overall. It is looking very
- 9:24Speaker 3: very likely. So I think we can now start to
- 9:28Speaker 3: have a bit more belief. And I know being saying
- 9:30Speaker 3: a week on week or we're starting to believe, We're
- 9:32Speaker 3: starting to believe, But that belief is coming to fruition now.
- 9:35Speaker 3: And look, we are in a very very good position
- 9:37Speaker 3: in the AFC and going into going into the postseed
- 9:40Speaker 3: postseason as well, considering it's December football, you know, it's
- 9:44Speaker 3: it's the kind of it's that the business end of
- 9:46Speaker 3: the season.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Just before we hear from coach Summlin, Jimmy, I'll just
- 9:51Speaker 1: start with you. I'll go back to that log in
- 9:53Speaker 1: the second again, two elements of this. We see a
- 9:56Speaker 1: number of graphics over a lot and this is just
- 9:57Speaker 1: your opinion. I'm putting you on the spot here. See
- 10:00Speaker 1: all these graphics about like you know, coach of the year,
- 10:03Speaker 1: comeback player of the year, Coach Tomlin has to be
- 10:07Speaker 1: up there for coach of the year, but also like
- 10:09Speaker 1: what Russell Wilson has done over the last five to
- 10:12Speaker 1: six weeks, especially in the Steelers team on average, he
- 10:15Speaker 1: has to be up there as well. Because I know
- 10:16Speaker 1: we talked about it a bit last week. Collectively, this
- 10:19Speaker 1: team has had that sort of reboot, that reset, which
- 10:21Speaker 1: is which is awesome to see, and certainly Tomlin needs
- 10:24Speaker 1: to be up in that discussion. And I know we're
- 10:25Speaker 1: a few weeks off that, but if they keep up
- 10:28Speaker 1: with this ps. I don't see anyone going at him,
- 10:29Speaker 1: especially when Bundle Ruskie Bundle Ruski and the Red is
- 10:32Speaker 1: not getting anywhere near the pecking order at the moment.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't see why not.
- 10:39Speaker 3: I mean, they've both had fantastic seasons Mike tom and
- 10:42Speaker 3: now has the longest active streak in the NFL for
- 10:44Speaker 3: not for for winning seasons for not losing. I saw
- 10:48Speaker 3: a very entertaining graphic on Instagram there a while ago,
- 10:52Speaker 3: and it was in relation to the Chiefs and Steelers
- 10:55Speaker 3: on Christmas Day, and that the caption.
- 10:57Speaker 2: Was the Voodoo Magic Bowl.
- 10:59Speaker 3: And it's think it's very fitting considering what Mike Tomlin
- 11:02Speaker 3: has pulled off this year with the pieces at his disposal.
- 11:05Speaker 3: Not untonmed the players by any by any stretch of
- 11:07Speaker 3: the imagination. But when we were looking at at our
- 11:10Speaker 3: quarterback room at the start of the season with Justin
- 11:12Speaker 3: Fields and Russell Wilson, I don't think anyone thought that
- 11:14Speaker 3: we would be in this position that we are in now,
- 11:16Speaker 3: with the record we are at and Russell Wilson playing
- 11:19Speaker 3: at the level he's playing at and having such a
- 11:22Speaker 3: positive impact on the Steelers offense and looking like he's
- 11:25Speaker 3: been in that offense for years really, but the connection
- 11:27Speaker 3: he has the pickings and his receivers, I'm making those
- 11:30Speaker 3: throws and yeah, I mean, look, if if I had
- 11:34Speaker 3: a vote, make obviously not be not being biased, I
- 11:36Speaker 3: would definitely be casting it for for Mike Tomlin and
- 11:38Speaker 3: Russell Wilson. But just two legends of the game, and
- 11:41Speaker 3: I think we we are with their with their with
- 11:44Speaker 3: their experience.
- 11:45Speaker 2: They've been in this position god knows how many times.
- 11:48Speaker 3: We are very very fortunate to have them in the
- 11:51Speaker 3: in the Black and Gold at this stage of the season.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Hopefully ap Tone makes that decision when it comes to
- 11:58Speaker 1: the own the season. I think Jimmy summed it up
- 12:01Speaker 1: perfectly there, but I think Tomman's is a shooting right now.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Coach Tom, I feel like I'm not saying the right name.
- 12:07Speaker 1: It's mister Thomand's coach tomland Us. Yeah, until he's on
- 12:09Speaker 1: the podcast anyway.
- 12:11Speaker 4: He can be missed perfect as far as I'm concerned.
- 12:14Speaker 4: Mc Yeah, I can't really say anything that Jimmy hasn't
- 12:17Speaker 4: added there. I think it was it's outstand astounding. Sorry,
- 12:20Speaker 4: but mc commlin has never won Coach of the Year.
- 12:23Speaker 4: I couldn't believe that when I read that earlier on.
- 12:25Speaker 4: And to have as many successful winning seasons as he's
- 12:29Speaker 4: had with the teams that he's had over the years.
- 12:32Speaker 4: Of course, we've been blessed with fabulous talents, both on
- 12:35Speaker 4: offense and defense, but they're still that part where you
- 12:38Speaker 4: have to put it all together, and he manages to
- 12:40Speaker 4: keep it going. As Jimmy's just said, at the start
- 12:41Speaker 4: of the season, none of us and including a lot
- 12:44Speaker 4: of the in the American media, thought we were going
- 12:45Speaker 4: to maybe finish bottom of this division. And and the
- 12:48Speaker 4: fact that he has been able to keep this all
- 12:50Speaker 4: together as long as or as well as making that
- 12:52Speaker 4: decision halfway through the season where we have a winning record,
- 12:56Speaker 4: we have a quarterback that, let's be honest, everybody was
- 12:59Speaker 4: rooting for the whole way, right up until the halftime
- 13:01Speaker 4: in the Jets game, and it just fades like for
- 13:04Speaker 4: us to be able to watch this and the turnaround
- 13:06Speaker 4: he has made, I don't understand, like how you know,
- 13:10Speaker 4: of course, he's been mentioned in that conversation along if
- 13:12Speaker 4: you know the likes of Don Campbell. Of course, Martina
- 13:14Speaker 4: Fairs had a good year with the Packers. Javin O'Connell,
- 13:17Speaker 4: the NFC North. I mean, you could put any of
- 13:18Speaker 4: them forward, but the fact that he hasn't, you know,
- 13:22Speaker 4: sort of got the respect he deserves. It's just a
- 13:24Speaker 4: stand stinding, keep getting that wrong, that we're wrong. But no,
- 13:29Speaker 4: I think he has to be issuing and he has
- 13:31Speaker 4: to he has to win up. There's no other you know,
- 13:33Speaker 4: better candidate in my opinion.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Drop the mic, my friends, we're gonna have a very
- 13:38Speaker 1: very quick look ahead to this Eagles game in a
- 13:41Speaker 1: little second. But first we're going to hear from coach
- 13:42Speaker 1: Thummlin and also here from TJ. What after the victory
- 13:46Speaker 1: over the Cleveland Brians and the AFC North battle in
- 13:48Speaker 1: week fourteen. You're listening to the Irish Series podcast.
- 13:53Speaker 3: No.
- 13:53Speaker 5: First, I just want to say congratulations to the Hall
- 13:56Speaker 5: of Honor honorees Dick Lebow, Willie Parker, Jason Gilden, Casey Hampton,
- 14:03Speaker 5: and I had an opportunity and the blessing to work
- 14:05Speaker 5: with three of those four men. Obviously, I've known Jason
- 14:08Speaker 5: since I've been here, and they're so deserving of the
- 14:11Speaker 5: honor and I'm glad that we were able to do
- 14:13Speaker 5: our part in terms of making this a really good
- 14:16Speaker 5: weekend for them. They're deserving of that, and so just
- 14:19Speaker 5: want to tip the cap to those guys. Appreciative of
- 14:23Speaker 5: the efforts.
- 14:25Speaker 1: End game.
- 14:26Speaker 5: It didn't start off the way we would like in
- 14:28Speaker 5: terms of fluidity. We weren't converting third downs there early on,
- 14:32Speaker 5: but the guys found their attraction. I appreciate the defense
- 14:35Speaker 5: providing some short fields and some splash and the effort
- 14:38Speaker 5: to kind of get us going. It's a team game
- 14:40Speaker 5: in that way. And then obviously the special teams would
- 14:42Speaker 5: splash play down the stretch to get us out of
- 14:45Speaker 5: the stadium. And that's what teams do. They make plays
- 14:48Speaker 5: in all three phases. They uplift one another. When a
- 14:52Speaker 5: certain component of it didn't roll in the smoothly as
- 14:54Speaker 5: you'd like. Thankful for the win. It's AFC North football
- 14:59Speaker 5: and we'll take it and keep moving. On the injury front, man,
- 15:02Speaker 5: we had a bunch of bumps and bruises associated with play.
- 15:05Speaker 5: I think the only thing that's really worth mentioning at
- 15:08Speaker 5: this point as Larry Ogan Jobi went out with a
- 15:10Speaker 5: growing in the first half or so, maybe second quarter,
- 15:13Speaker 5: and he wasn't able to return. I have an update
- 15:15Speaker 5: on Tuesday for you guys, regarding some of those other ones,
- 15:19Speaker 5: GP was listed as questionable. We didn't feel like he
- 15:24Speaker 5: was going to be able to play the type of
- 15:26Speaker 5: number of snaps that we thought would be worth putting
- 15:29Speaker 5: him in a uniform. To be quite honest with you,
- 15:31Speaker 5: we didn't want a small problem to become a big problem,
- 15:34Speaker 5: and so we put a helmet on Scotty Miller. And
- 15:35Speaker 5: as you can see, most of the time, when you
- 15:38Speaker 5: put the helmets on the healthy guys, man, they take
- 15:40Speaker 5: care of the rest. Scotty made some plays for us,
- 15:43Speaker 5: and thankful for that. That's another example of the team
- 15:46Speaker 5: component of this game. Man. You can waste a lot
- 15:49Speaker 5: of time worried about the guys that are unavailable to you.
- 15:52Speaker 5: We choose to focus our energies on the guys that
- 15:54Speaker 5: are available to us, their preparedness and then ultimately their play.
- 15:58Speaker 5: Tip of the Captain Scottie Miller man stepping up and
- 16:01Speaker 5: making some big plays for us. You know, it's what
- 16:04Speaker 5: we've been kind of discovering or rediscovering throughout every component
- 16:08Speaker 5: of this process. You know, you guys were asking us
- 16:10Speaker 5: about our lack of quote unquote a number two and
- 16:13Speaker 5: team development, and the guys made plays where we throw
- 16:17Speaker 5: the ball to makes plays. The strength of the pack
- 16:20Speaker 5: is the pack. We got a bunch of guys that
- 16:21Speaker 5: want to be the reasons why we're successful, and when
- 16:24Speaker 5: given an opportunity, I think they continually prove that, whether
- 16:26Speaker 5: Scottie or or Mike or Calvin or whoever van we
- 16:32Speaker 5: believe in our group. I know I've said that to
- 16:33Speaker 5: you guys repeatedly. Maybe you'll start believing me.
- 16:36Speaker 6: Well, they could just can constant takeaways from you guys
- 16:38Speaker 6: as a defense see more today, and just know you
- 16:40Speaker 6: guys have been playing all year long.
- 16:41Speaker 7: I mean, Keanu Benmon, what a hell of a play
- 16:43Speaker 7: by him, and then obviously the others as well, but
- 16:45Speaker 7: just an opportunistic group guys that want to want to
- 16:48Speaker 7: make impact plays and do hot to big moments.
- 16:50Speaker 6: So how great was then have Alex back out there
- 16:52Speaker 6: and makes it you impact as well right away?
- 16:53Speaker 5: Huge?
- 16:54Speaker 7: I mean I think it was a third play of
- 16:55Speaker 7: the game. He had a huge sack and he was
- 16:57Speaker 7: a client pressure all day. We know he's great passers
- 17:00Speaker 7: and a run defender when he's out there, and I'm
- 17:02Speaker 7: just glad that he was out there to there this.
- 17:03Speaker 6: For you guys to own this series at home twenty
- 17:05Speaker 6: one Street regular season home wins over these guys.
- 17:07Speaker 2: Is it a mental thing?
- 17:08Speaker 3: You know, both sides for you.
- 17:09Speaker 7: Guys to win and feel confident, maybe them just feel like, man, can.
- 17:11Speaker 1: We do this? I don't know.
- 17:12Speaker 7: I mean, no, no game in the NFL is is easy.
- 17:16Speaker 7: It was a tough challenge today and happy to get
- 17:18Speaker 7: to win.
- 17:21Speaker 6: DJ I'm sorry. Peter asked us, did you feel like
- 17:25Speaker 6: for the defense, your your tackle on the first out
- 17:27Speaker 6: on the first play of their game and kind of
- 17:29Speaker 6: set the tone for how you guys were gonna play
- 17:30Speaker 6: it today?
- 17:31Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 17:31Speaker 7: I mean, I just want to come out and get
- 17:34Speaker 7: involved as early as possible, as I try to do
- 17:36Speaker 7: each and every week, and we just came out energized
- 17:38Speaker 7: as a group from the start.
- 17:40Speaker 6: Was that kind of a layover? I mean, I think
- 17:42Speaker 6: up there, you guys have one tackle for a loss
- 17:45Speaker 6: you got rid of Okay, we got to we already
- 17:46Speaker 6: have a tackle for a loss right out of the gate.
- 17:48Speaker 6: We think, I mean, played on that side of wine
- 17:50Speaker 6: of the scrimmage.
- 17:51Speaker 7: We just want to be aggressive each and every week.
- 17:53Speaker 7: You know, we know it wasn't acceptable when we were
- 17:55Speaker 7: up there and we wanted to write it and we
- 17:57Speaker 7: want to show that we were a better defense. We
- 18:00Speaker 7: showed that day. Overall, obviously we came out with the
- 18:03Speaker 7: winning It was much better.
- 18:05Speaker 1: Great to hear from both coach Son and TJ on
- 18:08Speaker 1: the Irish Eeris Podcast. The next game that we have
- 18:11Speaker 1: coming up this weekend in Week fifteen is an absolute doozy.
- 18:15Speaker 1: It's against the Eagles. It's at nine to twenty five
- 18:18Speaker 1: our time in Philadelphia on Sunday. It's on NFL Game
- 18:23Speaker 1: Pass on the Zone. I'm looking forward to it. It's
- 18:27Speaker 1: a massive game. We know how important is at this point, Jimmy,
- 18:30Speaker 1: I guess just first like and we'll go into the
- 18:32Speaker 1: more discussion on this maybe during the week or liter
- 18:33Speaker 1: later on this week.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Eagle has been.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Playing some great football on both sides of the ball.
- 18:37Speaker 1: We know that they've struggled a little bit in terms
- 18:40Speaker 1: of keeping or getting the way from the Carlina Panthers
- 18:42Speaker 1: in Week fourteen, but the reality is good teams, grinders outside.
- 18:46Speaker 1: They've been really effective both sides of the ball, as
- 18:48Speaker 1: I said, and Siriali has really went the opposite of
- 18:50Speaker 1: the last year. They'll be looking at this game and
- 18:53Speaker 1: against Pittsburgh at home, going we can take this team.
- 18:55Speaker 1: It seems like a really good opportunity, not just to
- 18:59Speaker 1: show people, but the put the legal notice, especially when
- 19:01Speaker 1: you put the bills on Lions playing in the same
- 19:04Speaker 1: window at the same time. Let's put the legal notice
- 19:07Speaker 1: and get a big win away from home. What's your
- 19:09Speaker 1: initial thoughts just early in the week.
- 19:12Speaker 2: Yeah, the bottom of Pennsylvania make It's always.
- 19:14Speaker 3: A great game when these two sides meet, fierce rivalry
- 19:18Speaker 3: that the just know for a fact, having lived in
- 19:20Speaker 3: in Philadelphia many years ago that Eagles fans hate the
- 19:24Speaker 3: Steelers and vice versa. It's gonna be. It's gonna be
- 19:28Speaker 3: fantastic matchup. I mean, both sides of so many talented players.
- 19:32Speaker 3: Of course, Segone Barkley playing having maybe the potentially the
- 19:35Speaker 3: best year of his best season of his career, setting records,
- 19:40Speaker 3: left Rondon centered. Playing the way he's playing. We've all
- 19:42Speaker 3: seen the highlights, and that's gonna be. That's the number
- 19:45Speaker 3: one key is shut down the run and you shut
- 19:47Speaker 3: down everything else. And I think we have the capability
- 19:49Speaker 3: with our defense and the way our linebackers have been playing.
- 19:53Speaker 3: I mean, look, we we stifled Derrick Henry a couple
- 19:55Speaker 3: of weeks ago against the Ravens. Shouldn't have anybody doing
- 19:58Speaker 3: the same thing against against Lakwan Barkley. So I think
- 20:02Speaker 3: that's gonna be the key element for the key element
- 20:04Speaker 3: for that, and then offensively.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Just have a faster start.
- 20:08Speaker 3: I don't think we can afford to have as slow
- 20:09Speaker 3: as start as we did a quarter and a half
- 20:12Speaker 3: with out of touchdown. I think it was eleven minutes
- 20:15Speaker 3: at the eleven minute market against the Browns.
- 20:17Speaker 2: When Nagi scored his rushing touchdown, So faster out of
- 20:20Speaker 2: the blocks.
- 20:22Speaker 3: Look, the thing is, we have Boswell there if we
- 20:24Speaker 3: need him, mister Boso Maddick, best kicker in the league.
- 20:27Speaker 3: So I think it's gonna be very tight, but I
- 20:30Speaker 3: think we can. We can definitely, we can definitely do it.
- 20:32Speaker 3: And I think both sides are going to be very
- 20:34Speaker 3: very very very much up for this one as well.
- 20:38Speaker 1: It's early in the week, dovel, but have you watched
- 20:40Speaker 1: much of the Eagles this season? Have you been able
- 20:42Speaker 1: to watch their catch as much of the games?
- 20:44Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 20:45Speaker 4: I watched the game against the Ravens a couple of
- 20:47Speaker 4: weeks ago, which was a good insight to really what
- 20:49Speaker 4: they're going to set up like because as I've mentioned before,
- 20:52Speaker 4: they really I feel like they're sort of stole our
- 20:54Speaker 4: blueprint and how to handle Lamar Jackson, and so yeah,
- 20:58Speaker 4: I was I was sort of paid it answer to
- 21:00Speaker 4: that one. Obviously, I couldn't really pay attention yesterday for
- 21:03Speaker 4: obvious reasons. We were at the same time. And but
- 21:06Speaker 4: it's just obviously interesting as well. Un Like you know,
- 21:07Speaker 4: they're three and zero against the rest of the FC North,
- 21:10Speaker 4: so we've we've got a massive job on our house,
- 21:12Speaker 4: not only to see of our own face, but obviously
- 21:14Speaker 4: to see the dignity of the division. Thanks for the
- 21:16Speaker 4: rest of them, But they weren't massively impressive, just as
- 21:19Speaker 4: Jimmy said, they were not massively impressive against Carlin at
- 21:21Speaker 4: the weekend, and Gileen Hurts, I think just on the
- 21:24Speaker 4: start line one hundred and eight yards through through the
- 21:26Speaker 4: air and EDJ. Brown I think even came out off
- 21:29Speaker 4: of the game and and sort of seemingly took a
- 21:31Speaker 4: shot at him, which is you know, that's not great
- 21:34Speaker 4: when you see from your receiver. But it will be
- 21:36Speaker 4: interesting to see how we match up against him, you know,
- 21:38Speaker 4: the clean, mean threat, as Jimmy said, Sae Quon Barclay.
- 21:41Speaker 4: He's having an MVP caliber season. Of course, they've still
- 21:43Speaker 4: got some good other weapons likes of Brown, Devonte Smith,
- 21:47Speaker 4: Dallas Goddard, and they also have a very good young
- 21:50Speaker 4: and upcoming defense. I think Jileen Carter is probably one
- 21:53Speaker 4: of the best inside tackle or inside defensive tackles in
- 21:57Speaker 4: the league. So we'll have to break it down better
- 21:59Speaker 4: and as the week or later on the week perhaps,
- 22:02Speaker 4: but hopefully the caroline of Father's game just wasn't a
- 22:04Speaker 4: blip and it's something that we can certainly take advantage
- 22:06Speaker 4: of because I think they are on is it a
- 22:08Speaker 4: ten game, a leven game win strike eventually that has
- 22:11Speaker 4: to run out of stament. Hopefully we're just guessing them
- 22:13Speaker 4: at the right right time.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Yeah, they're they're laughing at the minute. It's it's up
- 22:17Speaker 1: to us now. I think go off over the next
- 22:19Speaker 1: few days and watch a little bit of Eagles team
- 22:22Speaker 1: offense and defense and special team. So I'll go offense,
- 22:24Speaker 1: Jimmy Eagle, defense, the special teams. I'm joking. We've actually
- 22:28Speaker 1: on the week to preview this game, massive one coming up.
- 22:30Speaker 1: But in the meantime, folks, enjoy it, win, enjoy where
- 22:32Speaker 1: this team is enjoy that this team is sitting at
- 22:34Speaker 1: top of the AFC North and we will chat to
- 22:37Speaker 1: you soon. Do look out for the Steeers Ireland social
- 22:40Speaker 1: channels on x, Instagram and TikTok and use the hashtags
- 22:44Speaker 1: Steiers Ireland to interact with this podcast and we will
- 22:46Speaker 1: chat to you soon. Have a great week. Here we go.
