- Sue: Given that we're in the day and age of having always on internet that we can access and connect with people that we might ever meet in person, such as this. You're consuming my content and I'm grateful for that, thank you. But are we likely to have known each other in person or will we likely be known to one another? Likely not. That's all right, right? We're still nonetheless connected in this way. And so it happened that as I had further thoughts on my question asking of Maya Angelou on the Buck Matthews Show in nineteen seventy six post. I think I simply titled it Buck Maya and me, if you're interested, it's on my website and YouTube channel, of course. And my comment that each of us in that room that morning are starting to perhaps recognize it for being the singular moment that I might, for my personal reasons and Buck Matthews did, and Some will not have given it any other bit of their energy to think about it, perhaps, unless prompted to do so, and that's fine too. That's not the point of what I'm trying to get at. Regardless of your age, there's a point in your life where you have a moment that sort of crystallizes its memory into your brain, and you might not reference it for quite some time or you might extract enough of it for your own use to recognize those are good words. I should remember those words. Yeah. Could be something as plain Jane as yeah, a hot stove burns my finger. I won't do that again, you know, or marry your best friend. Whatever. You know, it's that kind of moment that ⁓ dears, doe and fawn. Beautiful creatures. Confirmation. It's that spontaneous moment where you find yourself in amongst something that is collectively understood to be extremely special. At the very least. Whatever you consider it for the rest of your days is your personal choice. Mine, it turned out that my asking and being allowed to ask, the question of a writer, of a creative person to another creative person, what do you want us to take away from your work creatively? That you've made. And to get an answer as straightforward as we can all relate to in living life about the importance of appreciating and first experiencing, then appreciating joy. And that by keeping that as part of your hope, your faith in yourself, you will engage with others that are also seeking joy. And that's, as it happens, a really good thing. May not be for everyone. A singular moment for me. Of the response that Maya Angelou gave to the question I asked of her. I made my mantra, basically, to experience joy in life. You know, she had already lived a pretty full life by I think what a lot of humans would consider in her experience in time of nineteen seventy six and was well regarded publicly and to that end a role model. So it seemed a pretty reliable mantra to adopt. There was my small interaction had a ripple effect on my life because I had a life and have a life filled with joy doing things in my career as a music publisher and a very short term as a public media broadcast employee. Was it because of that day? No. But it certainly modelled what my approach was with my interactions of everyone in my life from that point on. It's a simple thing, because it's Maybe on a scale of emotions, in order to be able to experience joy with yourself and others you also have to recognize that you've mutually agreed to be kind to one another. Is there such a scale for engagements? But it spoke more to the power of what we all mutually understand, words, spoken or unspoken, with your added energy are powerful. Looking back nearly fifty years to the day that I started to refer to the last couple of blog posts. nineteen seventy six that I'd be able to communicate with whomever online happens to listen to this content in a way that says I was part of a moment that that day helped further define me as a and at that point I'm sure as I thought I was going to be an entirely creative person in the music as a musician. I mean this was before I even went to the college prep school. And it helped. me understand the path that I needed to go to be where I am here fifty years later. Interestingly, having a very short period of time working in public media, as did the longtime employee that was the host of the show from an area where I consider to be a home. And there are probably other similarities. There's probably favorite places that we share. Who knows? Doesn't matter. The issue here is that You have this opportunity now and no way then existed without already having a broadcast studio and cameras and equipment to make it so for the for a a local area of viewers to see. And thankfully it was archived and preserved and is available to watch like so much other content online. And it speaks to the time that I'm living in where I'm at the edge of the important things in my life were captured. with media and memorialized in such a way I can refer back to them physically, which then engages with you should you wish to do so. And because this particular moment was a meaningful one in my life that helped clarify who I am as a person, and I think it just helps everyone if they want to embrace it. Live a joyful life. Embrace the joy that is in your life. Make joy. Confirmation with the Jeff however you wish to do it. And it makes you a better person when things go tits up, as they did in my case at one point. Probably will again for that matter. It's all part of it, I think. And maybe some of you have never experienced horrible things in your life, and that's great. I think I'm in a larger group of people that are listening to this, the few of you that there are confirmation with that blue jay, to say that we've all had experiences in our life. So far, no matter what age you are, you've you've had a reaction to that might not have been positive. And that When you bring joy into your life, when you remain positive, it'll help break up that anxiety that you have. It gives you a better sense of who you need to call in for help, maybe. Maybe you don't. It's up to you. But it's when I look at that content now, I recognize how important words and energy combined are. Don't mess with them in a negative way. Because words and energy together are power. And when you create it, that's your power. No one has right to that except you. Don't give it away. Thanks for listening. I appreciate you.
