- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30Ooh, so today is the last question for closing out the
- 0:35year and tomorrow, we start on planning, which is New Year's.
- 0:40Even my favorite time to do all this New Year's Eve, New Year's
- 0:43Day are all about planning planning planning for me.
- 0:45But today, we're talking about closing up.
- 0:47So the question of the day is, if you were able to make
- 0:51yourself one promise, if you choose to make yourself a
- 0:54promise for what you're going to take into this year with you,
- 0:59what would it be? What would your On this to
- 1:01yourself be. So sometimes I find that, you
- 1:06know, I've talked about this before, how we basically
- 1:09bullshit ourselves regularly and we do it.
- 1:12Well, we are so good at doing it and apparently Raven concurs
- 1:15with me on this one that it's so important to stop that process
- 1:20and say, hey if I promise something, do I keep my promises
- 1:23do I keep my promises and you're probably going to say of course
- 1:27I keep my promises but I'm going to say well if you do you keep
- 1:30your Isis to yourself is more important than anything like if
- 1:33you keep your promises to yourself, that's a that's a
- 1:36really big deal because then you can keep your promises to other
- 1:39people. But if you don't keep your
- 1:40promises to yourself then we really have an issue.
- 1:43So from my perspective, I look at this and I say I don't make
- 1:47promises to myself unless I'm certain, I'm going to keep them
- 1:50as a commitment as I would to anybody else like making an
- 1:53appointment with any of my clients to show up on time.
- 1:56Or to say, I'm going to speak at an event or anything else.
- 1:58If I say I'm going to do it, I do it.
- 2:00And it's the same thing here. The promise to me, though is a
- 2:04little bit different because it feels a little more sacred.
- 2:06It feels a little bit more like, hey, I am, I making something on
- 2:10On A Soulful level, rather than just a scheduling level.
- 2:15So, if I say, I'm going to promise myself, something, it's
- 2:19really a big thing for me. So I'm asking you this question
- 2:24because I really want you to think about the fact that you
- 2:27could essentially promise yourself anything.
- 2:30And you could have Essentially say, hey, I'm committed to doing
- 2:32this. But you have to be willing to
- 2:35keep the commitment. You have to be willing to keep
- 2:37the commitment. So my promise to myself this
- 2:40year is all about working out. Now, I am excellent because I
- 2:44promised myself years ago that I was going to get in lots and
- 2:49lots and lots of steps. At the time, the promise was
- 2:51made to lose weight because I didn't realize when I moved to
- 2:54the South that the food was so much different than it is up
- 2:58north and I gained weight didn't Is it had to lose the weight?
- 3:02And I started just simply doing it by walking just by walking
- 3:05while I was talking to my clients and it to fold had an
- 3:09effect for me one, I lost all the weight, too.
- 3:13I also was able to think a lot clearer, it, I laughed because I
- 3:16learned that, you know, Einstein did this and he walked
- 3:20everywhere all the time because he said he could think better
- 3:23when he was walking. But in the meantime, I went from
- 3:27doing 10,000 steps a day to an average about 20 Steps a day,
- 3:31which I still do every single day and I actually feel
- 3:35immensely better when I do that, I feel amazingly better when I
- 3:39do that every single day and sometimes I take the weekends
- 3:42off, but I believe this year, I haven't done my numbers yet.
- 3:46I'll Cal look on my Fitbit because I track them like crazy,
- 3:50I'll probably have over five and a half million steps for the
- 3:53year. I know that sounds insane but it
- 3:55was a promise and every year I try to beat my numbers a little
- 3:58bit and do a little bit better. We'll see where I come out this
- 4:01year, but in any event I made that promise and I've never
- 4:05added anything else into it. So this year, my promise is that
- 4:08I am going to get back into doing more exercise like
- 4:13weightlifting workout, kind of stuff, because as you get older,
- 4:17you need to have that. So there's that one and then
- 4:20there's one with balance because I think with balance you have,
- 4:23if you have balance and I don't mean like, oh, can I juggle ten
- 4:26thousand things in a day? I'm talking about physical
- 4:28balance where I could stand on one leg.
- 4:30A pelican or I can squat down and have my heels flat on the
- 4:36ground. Certain things are just
- 4:38important to your body as you get older and I washed my mom
- 4:42not be able to do any of those things.
- 4:45So it's my goal to just be able to do all of those things and
- 4:49it's it's a it's just becoming more and more and more of a
- 4:53passion for myself and that's why it's moved into the promise
- 4:57category for me. Like I promised my body, I'm
- 5:00going To do better for it this year.
- 5:02So with that being said, that's mine.
- 5:05Now you have to figure out what yours is and really understand
- 5:09after the debrief where your downfalls were.
- 5:11So that, you know, that was part of my downfall.
- 5:15I could see it in the year that I know.
- 5:17I have to bring that over, if that makes sense.
- 5:19So I'm going to challenge you to go off and figure out this.
- 5:22What do you promise yourself for this year coming up that you can
- 5:26delineate from this past year that, you know, you need to take
- 5:28care of do. I mean I Don't care what it
- 5:31could be anything could be like, I put all my passions aside, I
- 5:33don't knit, I don't cook. I don't read I don't do the
- 5:36things that I really love to do, so maybe that's it.
- 5:39I promised myself, I'm going to read 20 minutes a day, you know,
- 5:42whatever it might be, pour it on and really think about this
- 5:47really do these questions because in the final analysis
- 5:50just like the Buddha said, the problem is we think we have time
- 5:55one of my most favorite quotes from the Buddha.
- 5:58The problem is we think we have Have time.
- 6:01So we put stuff off, we put stuff off and we put stuff off.
- 6:04And then guess what? We run out of time.
- 6:06So while you have time get your heinie and gear get moving.
- 6:11I hope you have a very blessed day and I will see you all
- 6:14tomorrow for some New Year's Eve planning.
- 6:17I'll talk to you soon, I hope you have a very, very blessed
- 6:20day. Bye.
