- 0:02Speaker 1: This is a Bramble Jam podcast.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark review podcast taking
- 0:25Speaker 2: a little detour to Netflix. I'm Megan and I'm a
- 0:29Speaker 2: longtime Hallmark fan and I've been a Netflix fan since
- 0:32Speaker 2: the days of the DVDs.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, wow, memory unlocked. Remember you could like
- 0:37Speaker 3: get out like five at a time or whatever. Yes,
- 0:41Speaker 3: and it felt roundbreaking to get them in the mail.
- 0:46Speaker 3: I love those red envelopes. Oh, DVDs. I don't even
- 0:50Speaker 3: have a DVD player anymore, do you not? I don't
- 0:54Speaker 3: think so that I have used. So I'm Wendy. I'm
- 0:59Speaker 3: a former Hallmark cater, a longtime fan of Netflix. Can
- 1:03Speaker 3: I just, as an aside, drop a Netflix news bit
- 1:08Speaker 3: that I just saw? Yeah, Gilmore Girls A Year in
- 1:12Speaker 3: a Life, which was originally made for Netflix, is leaving
- 1:17Speaker 3: the streamer. Oh, like it's contract has run out. Oh
- 1:24Speaker 3: isn't that crazy? That's weird. I don't have a ton
- 1:28Speaker 3: of details. I did read some stuff that there's like
- 1:31Speaker 3: maybe some negotiation happening, because I think like Netflix might
- 1:36Speaker 3: be in some sort of like merger.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Deal or something. Yeah, trying, I don't know the details.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Hbox for a show that does like so well on
- 1:45Speaker 2: the streamer. I'm well, I'm sure it's a little show. Yeah,
- 1:49Speaker 2: but I'm sure it's not that Netflix doesn't want it.
- 1:51Speaker 2: I'm sure it's like we paid whoever X dollars to
- 1:55Speaker 2: have it for ten years Warner Brothers. Yeah, exactly, and
- 1:59Speaker 2: now they're like, if you want to keep it, you
- 2:01Speaker 2: gotta pay up.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Anyway.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Interesting.
- 2:06Speaker 2: On today's episode, we are discussing Rippel episode three, the
- 2:09Speaker 2: twenty which is currently streaming on Netflix. Can I tell
- 2:13Speaker 2: you speaking of DVDs, I was talking about I was
- 2:17Speaker 2: talking about getting screeners of episodes for our Hallmark podcast
- 2:22Speaker 2: with a friend and I said something and she was like, oh,
- 2:24Speaker 2: She's like, I didn't realize it was digital. I was
- 2:27Speaker 2: envisioning them mailing you DVDs until that I say, Karen,
- 2:32Speaker 2: I love you, but it is twenty twenty five.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Wow.
- 2:36Speaker 2: This is a person who it doesn't want to get
- 2:39Speaker 2: a new car because she knows that when she does,
- 2:42Speaker 2: she will no longer have a physical key to put
- 2:44Speaker 2: in the ignition. Oh my, all out of love though,
- 2:49Speaker 2: all out of love. If you're listening to this episode
- 2:54Speaker 2: and you're new to us, hey follow us on Instagram,
- 2:56Speaker 2: where we are Girls Gone Hallmark to keep up with
- 2:59Speaker 2: all the new Apple episodes and shows that we are covering.
- 3:02Speaker 3: Yeah, it's Hallmark heavy over there, but we are dipping
- 3:05Speaker 3: our toe into some Netflix content seeing how that lands
- 3:11Speaker 3: with our audience. And it's landing.
- 3:13Speaker 2: So indeed, And as you mentioned, I don't know if
- 3:17Speaker 2: it was in last week's Ripple review or one of
- 3:19Speaker 2: the other many reviews we've dropped, but we have gotten
- 3:22Speaker 2: several recommendations from listeners of other movies that we should
- 3:26Speaker 2: cover Frusu or some upcoming ones. So Girls on Netflix
- 3:30Speaker 2: isn't going anywhere.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Girls Gone Netflix just a full brand change on.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Hey, let's hear a synopsis of Ripple episode three, A
- 3:42Speaker 2: flyaway dollar Bill.
- 3:44Speaker 3: It was not a dollar, it was a twenty dollar bill.
- 3:47Speaker 3: A flyaway twenty dollar bill leads Chris toward an old
- 3:52Speaker 3: music client. Walter and Tara enjoy an afternoon at needs bar,
- 3:56Speaker 3: and Ariya shares exciting news with John. I mean, can
- 4:00Speaker 3: you get any vaguer with this synopsis here?
- 4:03Speaker 1: I know?
- 4:04Speaker 3: Vaguer is that a word? Can we get any more
- 4:07Speaker 3: more vague?
- 4:08Speaker 1: I don't know if vager is a word.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Scott Smith directed this episode. He has directed a ton
- 4:13Speaker 2: of Hallmark projects like Frozen in Love and Autumn the Vineyard,
- 4:16Speaker 2: as well as episodes of the Sigin Sealed Delivered series.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Can I just stop you there for a second for
- 4:23Speaker 3: listeners who may just be tuning in for Ripple and
- 4:26Speaker 3: not have any like Hallmark context. Yes, So this show
- 4:31Speaker 3: was originally going to air on Hallmark Plus, which is
- 4:35Speaker 3: the Hallmark Channel streamer, And that's why you might hear
- 4:38Speaker 3: us say stuff like, oh, he directed Hallmark projects.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Like X y Z.
- 4:43Speaker 3: There's a lot of crossover between the networks here.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Yeah, And in this case, because this is a Netflix episode,
- 4:50Speaker 2: I would have pulled out other content, but the vast
- 4:54Speaker 2: majority of his work is very Hallmark heavy.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Got It.
- 5:00Speaker 3: Quits wrote this episode of Ripple. Joni has written on
- 5:03Speaker 3: series like Jane the Virgin, New Girl and Chasing Life.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Phoenix Ellis joins the cast as Gabriel Finn's brother. He
- 5:10Speaker 2: has nine acting projects under his belt and has also
- 5:13Speaker 2: appeared in Christmas Ceo on Hallmark.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Eden Brota plays Rebecca. Eden's previous credits include a spot
- 5:20Speaker 3: on Work and Moms and the TV movie Styled with Love.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Christian de la Cortina plays Finn's dad, Davide. Most recently,
- 5:27Speaker 2: he appeared in the TV series Dumas.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Perry Voss plays Finn's mom Rainey. Last year, she appeared
- 5:34Speaker 3: in ten episodes of this series Stories From My Gay Grandparents?
- 5:39Speaker 3: Where did that air?
- 5:40Speaker 2: I Mark, We're going to take a quick break and
- 5:42Speaker 2: we're gonna come right back with our first impression of
- 5:45Speaker 2: episode three of Ripple. Hey, Wendy, what was your first
- 5:56Speaker 2: impression of this episode? The twenty Ripple being in the
- 6:00Speaker 2: top five shows this week on Netflix tells me that
- 6:03Speaker 2: audience will absolutely show up for stories telling and that
- 6:07Speaker 2: doesn't follow a template OOO, although this story has created
- 6:13Speaker 2: its own template for sure. But if you know what
- 6:16Speaker 2: I'm saying, what I'm saying right, my first impression is
- 6:22Speaker 2: I think we may have hit an all time high
- 6:23Speaker 2: with the number of times I said no while watching
- 6:26Speaker 2: a single episode of television. Can I let me tell
- 6:30Speaker 2: you so? I may have mentioned in a previous episode
- 6:34Speaker 2: that I told my husband about this show. I was like, oh,
- 6:36Speaker 2: I have a recommendation for you, and then like then afterwards,
- 6:39Speaker 2: I told him that it was supposed to be a
- 6:41Speaker 2: Hallmark show because he doesn't watch Hallmark with me. We
- 6:45Speaker 2: were chatting, and I was like, oh, are you still
- 6:47Speaker 2: watching Ripple? He's like, yeah, I just got to the
- 6:48Speaker 2: part with dot dot dot and I was like no.
- 6:52Speaker 2: He's like, oh, I'm sorry, you're not there yet. I'm like,
- 6:55Speaker 2: I am not.
- 6:56Speaker 3: It's okay, spoilers, don't like bother me because I'll still
- 7:00Speaker 3: watch whatever anyway. Yes, And then last night I heard
- 7:04Speaker 3: he was watching it. I was upstairs and I came
- 7:06Speaker 3: downstairs and I was like, oh, you so watching Ripple.
- 7:08Speaker 3: He goes, yeah, I just watched the end. And I
- 7:09Speaker 3: was like, huh, okay, don't tell me what happens, but
- 7:13Speaker 3: tell me what happens. And he refused to tell me
- 7:16Speaker 3: what happens. I was like, please tell me, like Nate
- 7:18Speaker 3: is still alive, and he wouldn't say anything. Oh no,
- 7:23Speaker 3: Nate has to survive.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Like we need a season two. We can't have a
- 7:27Speaker 2: season two without Nate.
- 7:29Speaker 3: Listen, ask someone who has had stage to cancer. It's
- 7:32Speaker 3: very like survivalferable. Yeah, survivable. So Nate's gonna live. Guys.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Look, I'm putting it out there. I yes. I feel
- 7:42Speaker 2: like we're gonna have some scares with Nate. Like it's
- 7:44Speaker 2: not gonna be just like a straight line trajectory like
- 7:47Speaker 2: chemo surgery. Yay, right, there's gonna be something that's going
- 7:51Speaker 2: to frighten us, But making the choice for it to
- 7:55Speaker 2: be stage two is like just enough for it to
- 7:58Speaker 2: be like, Okay, this is scary to deal with it,
- 8:01Speaker 2: but not like you're definitely not gonna be around in
- 8:05Speaker 2: the next few years scary.
- 8:07Speaker 3: Yeah, because let me tell you, I am currently watching
- 8:11Speaker 3: The Big Sea, which is also streaming on Netflix and
- 8:14Speaker 3: also about cancer, and our main character has stage four
- 8:19Speaker 3: cancer series, and so you can see.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Where that is heading. Yeah, that's not great.
- 8:25Speaker 3: Well, and on top of it, we're reading through our
- 8:30Speaker 3: news and notes here, and our writer of this episode
- 8:33Speaker 3: also wrote on the show Chasing Life, also about cancer. Indeed,
- 8:38Speaker 3: so I gotta tell you, I was like, do I
- 8:41Speaker 3: need to watch that show? And I think if I
- 8:44Speaker 3: was in Megan's head right now, you would be saying, no, Windy,
- 8:47Speaker 3: you don't need to watch it.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:48Speaker 3: I think you might be not doing good things for
- 8:50Speaker 3: yourself right now, overdoing it. Yeah, in cancer content.
- 8:54Speaker 2: It maybe maybe when we're done with this and The
- 8:57Speaker 2: Big Sea and you've taken a nice long break, I
- 9:00Speaker 2: think you might be right.
- 9:02Speaker 3: Hey, let's talk what we liked about this episode. Well,
- 9:06Speaker 3: for me or the central idea of this episode is
- 9:09Speaker 3: about basically like life keeps moving even when everything is
- 9:14Speaker 3: shitty happening around us, right, I mean, I think that
- 9:17Speaker 3: applies to anything, if you have an illness or death
- 9:23Speaker 3: in the family or whatever, Like life does keep moving on.
- 9:30Speaker 3: What I really liked a lot was how they opened
- 9:33Speaker 3: this episode with the voice over of Nate talking about
- 9:37Speaker 3: this kind of thing everyday moments and about life still
- 9:43Speaker 3: continuing but people still show up, And I thought it
- 9:47Speaker 3: was great. Again, if I may, I am watching these
- 9:52Speaker 3: episodes with like very close eyes. I kind of hate it,
- 9:58Speaker 3: to be honest, because I can't just enjoy it, let
- 10:01Speaker 3: it wash over me and enjoy it. I'm like, what's
- 10:04Speaker 3: the deeper meaning here? How can I make the connection?
- 10:07Speaker 3: What is happening? Do you know what I'm talking about?
- 10:10Speaker 1: I do?
- 10:12Speaker 3: So when that twenty dollars bill floated off, I was like, Okay,
- 10:15Speaker 3: here we go. Where what ride are you taking us
- 10:18Speaker 3: on right now? Yeah?
- 10:20Speaker 2: So, okay, I want to talk about a couple of
- 10:21Speaker 2: things you said. First of all, Nate's voiceover. The voiceover
- 10:25Speaker 2: is different. Every episode started with Aria than we had
- 10:28Speaker 2: Walter and now we have Nate. Have you noticed that
- 10:30Speaker 2: the lines that they say in their voiceover make it
- 10:33Speaker 2: into the episode.
- 10:34Speaker 3: I only noticed it in this episode. I noticed it
- 10:39Speaker 3: with Walter last week. I need to go back.
- 10:40Speaker 2: I have to assume they did the same thing with Aria,
- 10:43Speaker 2: because it happened with both Walter and Nate. I love
- 10:46Speaker 2: that because it's not obvious. It's not obvious that we're
- 10:50Speaker 2: hearing a bit of dialogue in that moment. It sounds
- 10:53Speaker 2: like voiceover narration. Also, to your point of the twenty
- 11:00Speaker 2: eat all our bill, we immediately understand our this is
- 11:04Speaker 2: the catalyst of this episode. You talked about this show
- 11:09Speaker 2: not being formulaic, but it has written its own formula,
- 11:12Speaker 2: so viewers immediately know this is this is going to
- 11:15Speaker 2: bring everybody together. This episode and the fact that I
- 11:19Speaker 2: understand we're only three episodes in, but that they did
- 11:21Speaker 2: this I have to assume eight times is pretty incredible storytelling.
- 11:25Speaker 2: If you ask me, same, same, same, same. Let's talk
- 11:31Speaker 2: about Nate and Claire Wolf.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Go ahead.
- 11:36Speaker 2: We start with them having a very uncomfortable exchange in
- 11:41Speaker 2: their home kitchen, and once again we do not have
- 11:46Speaker 2: all of the information here, but Claire is trying so
- 11:50Speaker 2: hard to on one end, maybe just make things a
- 11:55Speaker 2: happy home. On the other end, it seems like she's
- 11:57Speaker 2: trying to end this separation. She wants them to be
- 12:01Speaker 2: a couple, and when he says he's not working, she's like,
- 12:03Speaker 2: I thought you'd like to stay home when you're working,
- 12:05Speaker 2: and he said, I like to do that when this
- 12:07Speaker 2: was home.
- 12:10Speaker 1: Is such a gut punch.
- 12:12Speaker 3: How can you and I take that personally if you
- 12:15Speaker 3: are not Claire well, or if you are Claire indeed,
- 12:19Speaker 3: And then.
- 12:21Speaker 2: She wants to be there for chemo and she says,
- 12:23Speaker 2: don't be a martyr, and he says that would imply
- 12:25Speaker 2: I actually want you there. I mean, Nate is done
- 12:29Speaker 2: with her. He's so mean to her. He is so
- 12:33Speaker 2: mean to her. You're right, we don't have a ton
- 12:35Speaker 2: of context of like how he got to this point, right,
- 12:39Speaker 2: mm hmmm. That makes me feel bad for Claire and agreece. Right,
- 12:45Speaker 2: So we get a little bit of a reveal. We
- 12:46Speaker 2: mentioned that red folder in last episode. We learned that
- 12:49Speaker 2: Nate had found this folder with her MLM paperwork inside
- 12:54Speaker 2: of it, and Claire's gotten herself into a little bit
- 12:56Speaker 2: of a sticky situation. But this opens up more questions
- 13:01Speaker 2: because she says, oh, well, you know, I was just
- 13:03Speaker 2: trying to trying this out as a side hustle to
- 13:06Speaker 2: make a little extra money to get us out of
- 13:08Speaker 2: the financial stress that I caused.
- 13:12Speaker 3: Oh I miss that.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Note.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Yes, I heard the side hustle thing, but I miss
- 13:18Speaker 3: that whatever what other financial stress she had put on them?
- 13:22Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 13:23Speaker 3: Oof oof Okay, So like she's she's trying to be
- 13:29Speaker 3: a team Nate just wants to get away from her,
- 13:31Speaker 3: And you're right, I do feel badly for her, But
- 13:34Speaker 3: I also think it's very clear there's a lot of
- 13:36Speaker 3: information we don't have because everything we know about Nate
- 13:40Speaker 3: outside of his marriage, Nate's a good guy. Mm hmm.
- 13:46Speaker 3: So these are hard for.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Me because I'm like, wait a minute, this isn't a
- 13:49Speaker 2: good guy Nate. Later in the episode, Nate's mom shows up.
- 13:55Speaker 2: I thought Claire was gonna tell her everything. Yeah, to me,
- 14:02Speaker 2: it looked like she was gonna be like, this secret
- 14:04Speaker 2: is too heavy to bear. Instead, she just tells her
- 14:06Speaker 2: that they're separated. But his mom's like, oh, separation push posh.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Like NIC's dad and I separated all the time, we're
- 14:13Speaker 2: still married. And I this gives Claire so much falls hope.
- 14:18Speaker 2: And then I knew in that moment.
- 14:21Speaker 3: I knew that she was gonna be like, oh, it's
- 14:23Speaker 3: up to me to save this marriage, and that she
- 14:25Speaker 3: was gonna go to chemo. I knew.
- 14:27Speaker 2: And then she was going to see them through the window.
- 14:30Speaker 3: Yeah that's rough because like she walks up at the hospital,
- 14:36Speaker 3: sees them through the window. They're like canoodling, right basically,
- 14:41Speaker 3: and Finn, our little young patient, sees the whole thing happen. Yes,
- 14:48Speaker 3: I wonder if that will come into play at some
- 14:52Speaker 3: point or I mean, it can't be just coincidental, like
- 14:55Speaker 3: is Finn gonna say something to Nate about it next
- 14:58Speaker 3: time or who knows? Who knows? But you know, Claire
- 15:05Speaker 3: getting that information that had to be tough.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Yeah I did.
- 15:11Speaker 3: I did feel for her. I did feel for her.
- 15:14Speaker 3: Just a couple of little things.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:17Speaker 3: We have Walter and his physical pain. Right. What I
- 15:23Speaker 3: loved is like he's saying, like I need to see
- 15:26Speaker 3: a chiropractor. Ellis puts him together with her girlfriend, who
- 15:30Speaker 3: is Pete, and then the pet comes over and you know,
- 15:34Speaker 3: I thought it was interesting. The pet was talking about
- 15:38Speaker 3: like your body holding on to your grief is manifesting
- 15:41Speaker 3: into like physical pain. Basically, I thought that was just
- 15:46Speaker 3: an interesting conversation. Yes, but are you worried about Walter?
- 15:51Speaker 3: I'm super worried about Walter until I saw the until
- 15:54Speaker 3: the end of this episode. God, now you just put
- 15:57Speaker 3: that in my head? Is Walt he gonna make it?
- 16:01Speaker 3: Because Walter is probably my favorite character. Walter is the
- 16:05Speaker 3: heart and soul of this show.
- 16:06Speaker 2: For me, I thought that physical therapy scene. I know
- 16:09Speaker 2: you want to talk about the end, but just that
- 16:11Speaker 2: physical therapy scene, Rebecca's asking Walter questions about his pain.
- 16:15Speaker 1: She looks concerned to me, but then she says, stump
- 16:19Speaker 1: on that.
- 16:20Speaker 2: Then she says, you know, your pain can manifest like
- 16:23Speaker 2: your emotional pain can manifest physically, And in my brain
- 16:26Speaker 2: I was like, one of two ways, Please let that
- 16:28Speaker 2: just be it. But they just talk. He talks about
- 16:31Speaker 2: this pain he's in so much, and they show him,
- 16:36Speaker 2: you know, he does the wolf getting off the couch,
- 16:38Speaker 2: which look I do sometimes too, and he's uncomfortable.
- 16:41Speaker 3: So it just does worry me.
- 16:43Speaker 2: But there's there's too many other things going on. I
- 16:45Speaker 2: can't have something else before my sweet Walter.
- 16:49Speaker 3: Yeah, because there's You're right, there's so many other things
- 16:52Speaker 3: like where my brain is drawn to in terms of
- 16:55Speaker 3: the storytelling, that I hadn't given Walter's actual physical much thought.
- 17:00Speaker 3: And I don't know if I can go there. I
- 17:02Speaker 3: don't know if I can go there. Listen Walter. I
- 17:06Speaker 3: love Walter. But when he and Terror are at the
- 17:09Speaker 3: bar and he's asking the questions, so, ellis how does
- 17:14Speaker 3: she identify? And he's he's asking for explanation, and this
- 17:19Speaker 3: scene is done so well. Marcyte House is such perfection
- 17:24Speaker 3: in this scene, the queer newsletter that.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Went out.
- 17:29Speaker 3: Got it right, so good, and Walter goes, oh, not.
- 17:36Speaker 1: Like that makes perfect sense.
- 17:41Speaker 3: I loved this so much, and at its core I
- 17:45Speaker 3: always have to go, oh my god, this was going
- 17:47Speaker 3: to be on Hallmark. This was going to be on Hallmark.
- 17:50Speaker 3: Gosh us it's such a freaking missed opportunity that Hallmark
- 17:55Speaker 3: sold this show. I you know, I have so many
- 17:58Speaker 3: mixed feelings about it because on one hand, it's getting
- 18:01Speaker 3: such bigger exposure on Netflix, number five, number five on Netflix, yes,
- 18:07Speaker 3: and you know, Netflix US, Netflix Canada, Netflix UK. It's
- 18:11Speaker 3: doing well on all of these platforms. It would not
- 18:13Speaker 3: have gotten that exposure on Hallmark Plus. On the other hand,
- 18:18Speaker 3: what a get this would have been for Hallmark to
- 18:22Speaker 3: hopefully things like this. It's what I hope when we
- 18:26Speaker 3: talk about twelve dates of Christmas on Hallmark. I'm like,
- 18:28Speaker 3: let this bring people in. And by bringing people in
- 18:32Speaker 3: and supporting this new content, I just I know this
- 18:35Speaker 3: isn't a Hallmark episode. But my concern about Hallmark is.
- 18:39Speaker 2: The community is small and they need to grow it,
- 18:45Speaker 2: and they're not going to grow it by doing the
- 18:47Speaker 2: exact same thing, Like you're going to keep those people,
- 18:52Speaker 2: but you're not going to get new ones.
- 18:54Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly, exactly, Okay.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Like our podcast exactly.
- 19:04Speaker 3: Okay. I did love at the end though, when we
- 19:07Speaker 3: see Walter with his big bucket of coins and he's
- 19:09Speaker 3: just outfeeding the meter we didn't talk about at the
- 19:14Speaker 3: opening of the episode with the guy running down and
- 19:16Speaker 3: like getting a ticket for not having a paid meter.
- 19:20Speaker 3: But it all comes for full circle and just Walter
- 19:24Speaker 3: is just such a good guy.
- 19:26Speaker 1: You know.
- 19:26Speaker 2: It's funny because in the final scene when that guy's
- 19:29Speaker 2: running to his meter, that's also when Ari is about
- 19:32Speaker 2: to go for a run, and I was like, oh gosh,
- 19:33Speaker 2: there's something going to happen here. It just something about it.
- 19:36Speaker 2: And then he arrives at his meter and it's been paid,
- 19:38Speaker 2: and I was just like, oh, Walter cut to Walter
- 19:43Speaker 2: feeding the meters. Walter experiencing joy is one.
- 19:47Speaker 1: Of my favorite things.
- 19:48Speaker 2: It's the same Frankie Kaison is so good in those moments.
- 19:53Speaker 1: So good.
- 19:54Speaker 3: And I want to say too, there's something with the
- 19:56Speaker 3: set design with him and his apartment. It's so well done.
- 20:02Speaker 3: When he's sitting at like their little like kitchenette and
- 20:04Speaker 3: there's all these like beautiful like family photos behind have
- 20:08Speaker 3: you noticed like on the wall, it just really gives
- 20:12Speaker 3: like that was his happy place with Brenda and Brenda's
- 20:18Speaker 3: not there anymore, and then he has these like memories
- 20:20Speaker 3: of her. I mean, and even like the lighting the
- 20:23Speaker 3: way they shoot the scene, it's a little bit darker
- 20:25Speaker 3: in those apartments, like it feels kind of lonely. That's
- 20:30Speaker 3: why I love watching this relationship with him and Tara unfold.
- 20:33Speaker 3: When she calls and he's like, what do you need
- 20:35Speaker 3: and she goes, why do I need? I don't need
- 20:38Speaker 3: anything to call a friend, and I just was like, man, man, well,
- 20:43Speaker 3: And also when he's like surprised that he's still a
- 20:50Speaker 3: priority for her even after her date, like the joy
- 20:54Speaker 3: when she says, let's have lunch tomorrow and he realizes, oh,
- 20:58Speaker 3: our worlds can expand and to include all of these people. Yes, Walter,
- 21:04Speaker 3: I'd like to talk about Ny and Chris. Yes, I
- 21:10Speaker 3: adore their relationship. Oh do I hear a butt?
- 21:14Speaker 1: No?
- 21:14Speaker 2: No, no, but no, it's not a butt. I adore
- 21:18Speaker 2: their relationship. When he calls her and they make plans
- 21:20Speaker 2: for takeout and she's like, oh, I don't know where
- 21:22Speaker 2: you live. Every exchange they have is like they look
- 21:26Speaker 2: each other in the eye. Sometimes there's a ton of
- 21:30Speaker 2: humor about it because she talks about, well, it's scary
- 21:33Speaker 2: to go out on my own and he goes, yeah,
- 21:35Speaker 2: so's chemo. Like I just like the way they give
- 21:38Speaker 2: it to each other. But then he lets her in.
- 21:42Speaker 2: She's the first person that he really lets in on
- 21:45Speaker 2: what's going on with his health. He has a panic attack.
- 21:49Speaker 2: They have that moment on the floor, which is so great.
- 21:54Speaker 2: She shows up for him at the hospital and I
- 21:57Speaker 2: loved that hospital scene. Chris shows up, Finn's there, Finn's
- 22:04Speaker 2: cracking jokes. Chris connects with Finn in this totally effortless way, Obviously,
- 22:10Speaker 2: chemo is not a fun experience for anyone involved, but
- 22:13Speaker 2: they just you can see even in the background some
- 22:16Speaker 2: of the other patients are laughing.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Along with them. But of course at the end, Chris
- 22:22Speaker 3: is gone, yeah, where'd she go? Because she was just
- 22:26Speaker 3: gonna go outside and wait for him.
- 22:27Speaker 2: So, I mean, it's in my wishes, but I'm like,
- 22:31Speaker 2: I really hope this is just a she's like in
- 22:34Speaker 2: another room and she's gonna pop in, and he's gonna
- 22:36Speaker 2: have that moment of panic of like I let people
- 22:38Speaker 2: in and they abandoned me.
- 22:40Speaker 3: Oh god, Yeah.
- 22:41Speaker 2: And she's gonna come back and he's gonna realize, like,
- 22:43Speaker 2: no people do show up. But my other concern is
- 22:46Speaker 2: was it too much? Did she have this moment.
- 22:49Speaker 1: Where they were like family?
- 22:51Speaker 3: Yeah, she's like this is too too too much for me?
- 22:54Speaker 1: Yeah, too much, too soon.
- 22:55Speaker 3: I don't know, but I hope not. I hope not.
- 22:58Speaker 3: I don't feel like Chris is like that, but I
- 23:01Speaker 3: don't either.
- 23:01Speaker 1: But where do I don't know? Yeah, I don't know.
- 23:04Speaker 3: How do you feel about John telling DESI like we've
- 23:07Speaker 3: gone too far? Basically, and then she sends the bracelet back.
- 23:12Speaker 2: I love the way DESSI just throws his words back
- 23:14Speaker 2: in his face when she says, Oh, you want to
- 23:16Speaker 2: talk about boundaries now after you used me to unload
- 23:18Speaker 2: all of your marital issues. Yea, And she sends the
- 23:22Speaker 2: bracelet back with a comment of wouldn't want to cross,
- 23:25Speaker 2: you know, a boundary. I have a lot of concerns
- 23:28Speaker 2: about what's happening.
- 23:29Speaker 1: There, and the many many near.
- 23:33Speaker 2: Misses with her seeing messages from DESI and her seeing
- 23:38Speaker 2: the envelope from DESI just make it feel like disaster
- 23:41Speaker 2: is looming. Everything's going well for her in her life.
- 23:45Speaker 2: She Chris wants to represent her. She's feeling really good
- 23:50Speaker 2: about her relationship with John. They're in this like fun
- 23:52Speaker 2: flirty space.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Obviously stuff's going on with him, but.
- 23:55Speaker 2: She's feeling good about it. She's even like, I'm gonna
- 23:57Speaker 2: take their advice and go for a run. I'm going
- 23:59Speaker 2: to shake off stress. But all of these things are
- 24:01Speaker 2: looming and I'm concerned. Yeah, and she thinks she might
- 24:06Speaker 2: be pregnant and I have to assume.
- 24:09Speaker 3: That she's not, and that's going to cause something is
- 24:12Speaker 3: going to cause an emotional come.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Down for Aria.
- 24:15Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I did love Nate, revealing to Ellis
- 24:20Speaker 3: what's going on. Oh, it's in my digit see that.
- 24:23Speaker 3: I'm sorry, No, it's fine. I love that, Like he
- 24:27Speaker 3: has to, right, obviously he needs to in my digit
- 24:31Speaker 3: See that is I like the way that they did
- 24:33Speaker 3: that scene he tells her or actually he goes, I
- 24:36Speaker 3: have something to tell you, basically, and then the next
- 24:39Speaker 3: scene is her just like uppa scene. I just like
- 24:42Speaker 3: that they cut the part where he actually tells her again,
- 24:46Speaker 3: like we don't need to. I mean we got it earlier.
- 24:49Speaker 3: He told Chris earlier, right, I just thought it was
- 24:51Speaker 3: so well done. How they did that, Yes, how they
- 24:54Speaker 3: went from one scene to the next. Yeah, well, let's
- 24:57Speaker 3: talk about some wishes. I only have one h and
- 25:01Speaker 3: it has to do with Claire. Is mostly like we're
- 25:05Speaker 3: only getting like this one dimensional kind of perspective of
- 25:09Speaker 3: like Nate and we talked about it a little bit,
- 25:11Speaker 3: but Nate is mad at Claire. I need more more
- 25:16Speaker 3: from that, Like I need a better understanding. I need
- 25:20Speaker 3: Claire's perspective of the situation also. And I don't know
- 25:24Speaker 3: if you caught it, but there was a moment between
- 25:27Speaker 3: Nate's mom and Claire where Nate's mom says something like
- 25:31Speaker 3: she gives her Aria's ring, like I didn't talk about,
- 25:34Speaker 3: but Aria loses her ring. It comes into the jewelry store.
- 25:38Speaker 3: I'm guessing her mom owns a jewelry store. Is that
- 25:41Speaker 3: what you were picking up? I wasn't necessarily picking that up,
- 25:44Speaker 3: or that she had just gone into a store and
- 25:46Speaker 3: it just so happened that it had been sold to
- 25:49Speaker 3: the store. She was able to purchase it. Yes, yes, yes, yes, anyway,
- 25:52Speaker 3: but she gives it to Claire and she's like, oh,
- 25:54Speaker 3: we had kind of a rocky start, and I'm like, yeah,
- 25:57Speaker 3: I need more information there. So I mean, I think
- 26:00Speaker 3: we'll get to it eventually. Maybe there's only so much
- 26:03Speaker 3: you can put in a forty five minute episode.
- 26:05Speaker 2: I guess, well, yeah, and they have to keep you
- 26:07Speaker 2: coming back and they want you to have complicated feelings
- 26:09Speaker 2: about that. There are many many unanswered questions, of course,
- 26:13Speaker 2: three episodes into a season, but that is my biggest one,
- 26:17Speaker 2: and where I feel like I don't have solid footing
- 26:19Speaker 2: is the backstory with Claire, and I don't want to
- 26:23Speaker 2: root against her, but I do feel like we are
- 26:27Speaker 2: going to get some explanation for the reason Nate feels So,
- 26:32Speaker 2: what's the word?
- 26:34Speaker 3: How do you just resentful.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Yes, I mean he's just angry.
- 26:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:39Speaker 2: I want to say, like he's not even really trying
- 26:42Speaker 2: to live civilly. He can't help but be mean. But
- 26:45Speaker 2: if you are in a constant state of frustration with someone,
- 26:49Speaker 2: perhaps that's just the way it is. And if we
- 26:51Speaker 2: knew more, I mean, what has she done? Obviously there
- 26:55Speaker 2: he's worried about the financial state of his bar. She's
- 27:01Speaker 2: caused them some financial stress.
- 27:03Speaker 3: What's going on? That's what I want to know.
- 27:05Speaker 1: What's going on?
- 27:06Speaker 2: Yeah, And then I would like to know is she
- 27:09Speaker 2: gonna confront ate about Chris? Is she gonna hold that
- 27:11Speaker 2: in her back pocket for a weak moment? Is she
- 27:14Speaker 2: going to hold that against him in spite of the
- 27:16Speaker 2: fact that they're separated. Is she gonna throw it in
- 27:18Speaker 2: his face like he's cheating? I thought it was really
- 27:21Speaker 2: great when the nurse that chemo was like, this is
- 27:24Speaker 2: your wife, and Chris goes, you're married? Really funny, that's
- 27:28Speaker 2: so funny. Yeah, so so funny. I know we talk
- 27:31Speaker 2: some of our digitsy that moments, but do you have
- 27:32Speaker 2: any more? I do a couple quick little things. Chris
- 27:37Speaker 2: casually saying the word ass oh, which netflix not a problem, right,
- 27:44Speaker 2: but again was originally for Hallmark Plus. Kind of interesting. Yeah,
- 27:49Speaker 2: they don't get that kind of language even on Hallmark Plus.
- 27:53Speaker 2: The next one was when Aria and John are out
- 27:56Speaker 2: eating pizza there out in front of a place called
- 27:58Speaker 2: Carrot Common, which I was like, is this place at
- 28:01Speaker 2: it is in Toronto?
- 28:02Speaker 3: Which we knew this was where it's a grocer. I
- 28:06Speaker 3: just thought it was cute. I was like, what's Carrot Common? Yeah,
- 28:09Speaker 3: And finally Walter calling in the bar my cheers, Oh yeah,
- 28:14Speaker 3: that's going too. Loved it well.
- 28:17Speaker 2: The quiet devastation of Finn and her family and her
- 28:22Speaker 2: brother whose name is Gabriel, when he and his mom
- 28:27Speaker 2: were walking in the possible We have no idea who
- 28:28Speaker 2: they are at that moment, and they're just how was
- 28:30Speaker 2: your day, and oh, let's have talkhost for dinner. That
- 28:32Speaker 2: sounds great. He's the boy at the beginning of the
- 28:35Speaker 2: episode who his money flew away and he couldn't buy
- 28:38Speaker 2: the pretzel and I was like, just give him the
- 28:40Speaker 2: pretzel anyway.
- 28:42Speaker 3: Oh that's funny that that that was your takeaway from it.
- 28:46Speaker 3: I mean, he seemed to be having a bad day.
- 28:48Speaker 3: That was the image. He looked kind of forlorn in
- 28:51Speaker 3: that moment, I'm I'm projecting. But then they arrive at
- 28:55Speaker 3: Thinn's room and she's like, oh, I'm starving, and the
- 28:58Speaker 3: parents are so glad that she finally has an appetite,
- 29:00Speaker 3: and she's like, let's have spaghetti. And Gabriel has completely
- 29:04Speaker 3: forgotten the quiet devastation of you know, he is collateral
- 29:08Speaker 3: damage in her cancer journey as well. Yeah, that sucks.
- 29:12Speaker 1: It's hard to see.
