- 1:22Speaker 2: but what did you expect?
- 1:24Speaker 3: It's a podcast call twenty five Whistles.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Twenty one with the show what the that's my that's
- 1:34Speaker 1: my job man own the whistle. You do it most
- 1:36Speaker 1: times because I'm already thinking about what to do. Oh okay, Yeah,
- 1:40Speaker 1: there's a guy who was shot and killed after a
- 1:41Speaker 1: dispute over a jukebox song.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Which one was it?
- 1:45Speaker 1: Oh? You think it's about the song. I feel like
- 1:47Speaker 1: it's probably about the disrespect more than they're fighting about
- 1:49Speaker 1: a song.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Usually that's what it is.
- 1:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:51Speaker 2: I kind of didn't want to know what song that.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Was, though, well, I can get it into the story.
- 1:54Speaker 1: I didn't even read about the song because I figure
- 1:58Speaker 1: one of them plays a song, it doesn't matter what
- 1:59Speaker 1: it did, but the other one wants a song, it
- 2:01Speaker 1: doesn't matter what it is. Yeah, and it's just a
- 2:03Speaker 1: disrespect issue. But a guy's dead after a dispute over
- 2:06Speaker 1: a jukebox start turned violent at a Mexican restaurant in
- 2:08Speaker 1: Fort Lauderdale. Oh no, the argument.
- 2:11Speaker 2: So they were.
- 2:12Speaker 4: Drunk alcohol, yeah, and then for sure disrespect.
- 2:16Speaker 1: One man insulted another over his song choice on the
- 2:19Speaker 1: music machine. Quote. I heard that there were two guys
- 2:24Speaker 1: and they got into the argument because one of them
- 2:25Speaker 1: played a song and the other guy was pissed off.
- 2:28Speaker 1: The guy got insulted, pulled his weapon and started shooting
- 2:31Speaker 1: the other guy. Dang broh, they don't talk about the songs, margaritas.
- 2:36Speaker 1: The altercation escalated quickly. The man who insulted this song
- 2:40Speaker 1: allegedly drew his weapon first, but the other man near
- 2:43Speaker 1: the jew box firebacks. They both had guns.
- 2:45Speaker 2: This is the wild West.
- 2:46Speaker 1: It sort of feels like like they walked in those
- 2:48Speaker 1: swinging doors by balloon, because that's because again, they both
- 2:52Speaker 1: happened to have guns. Right then they just pulled him
- 2:54Speaker 1: out for a lot of Police confirmed the identity of
- 2:56Speaker 1: the victims, fifty four year old Sikoro Camacho. He's still
- 3:00Speaker 1: investigating in the shooting. No song mentioned here. It wasn't
- 3:03Speaker 1: even about the song.
- 3:04Speaker 4: Well, no, they did. They they got mad about the
- 3:06Speaker 4: song choice, it said.
- 3:07Speaker 1: But it was mostly about the disrespect. I was an
- 3:09Speaker 1: assault of the song, right. I was WSVN dot com
- 3:13Speaker 1: the story.
- 3:14Speaker 4: I was at a bar one time and I played
- 3:15Speaker 4: What did I play? It was like, uh, one of
- 3:18Speaker 4: the Rocky songs?
- 3:19Speaker 2: Because now not Covin had no one is that that one?
- 3:24Speaker 5: No?
- 3:24Speaker 2: No, no coming?
- 3:26Speaker 4: And some guy and there was so upsetts who put
- 3:29Speaker 4: Rocky on?
- 3:29Speaker 6: And I'm like, what did? I did not raise my
- 3:31Speaker 6: hand like I was gonna be like I did. I
- 3:33Speaker 6: didn't think that was so controversial. Rocky everyone loves.
- 3:36Speaker 4: I feel like there was just something going on with him,
- 3:38Speaker 4: and maybe or maybe people play that song all the time,
- 3:40Speaker 4: because I was shocked to see it on the jukebox.
- 3:42Speaker 1: First off, it also could have been done done survivor
- 3:47Speaker 1: the Tiger.
- 3:48Speaker 2: The Tiger. Maybe I don't remember. It was a few
- 3:50Speaker 2: years back.
- 3:51Speaker 6: Few is that James Brown one where Rocky three Rocky?
- 3:58Speaker 2: I don't know, maybe like ten.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Years ago, probably longer. Huh maybe was he here in Tennessee?
- 4:03Speaker 2: Now I was back in Texas, so it had to
- 4:05Speaker 2: be longer. It's years.
- 4:07Speaker 1: It's our thing with our age. Now everything seems three
- 4:09Speaker 1: years ago. I know that's not good, and it wasn't.
- 4:12Speaker 4: Everything seems two thousand, no five.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Everything A couple of things that I want to talk about.
- 4:21Speaker 1: We can do the U and l V thing first,
- 4:23Speaker 1: and I think we've had a couple of days now
- 4:24Speaker 1: for it to happen. But the are you familiar with story?
- 4:27Speaker 1: Quarterback quarterback decides, Hey, I'm gonna go ahead and check out.
- 4:30Speaker 1: I didn't get the money I was promised one hundred
- 4:31Speaker 1: thousand dollars. So and everybody has come out with their
- 4:36Speaker 1: side of it, like the school's like we never promised
- 4:38Speaker 1: him that that's not in writing. The collectives like we didn't,
- 4:42Speaker 1: and he's like no, an assistant coach and the dad.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Everybody has their side, and I don't know that I
- 4:47Speaker 1: see a specific side that's proved one way or the other.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Who's telling the truth. But there are a couple of
- 4:53Speaker 1: things from this. It's the if the dad is this involved,
- 4:58Speaker 1: this is his fault, because unless you have something in writing,
- 5:01Speaker 1: nothing really exists. Unfortunately, Yeah, so as the adult as
- 5:07Speaker 1: the responsible person, because that dad seems like he's involved
- 5:09Speaker 1: in this now he is now, so maybe he was
- 5:12Speaker 1: then I assume he would be the kid. Was he
- 5:14Speaker 1: recruited holy Cross?
- 5:16Speaker 2: What was he recruited or was he a freshman when
- 5:17Speaker 2: he went to UNLA.
- 5:18Speaker 1: No, he came from holy Cross.
- 5:19Speaker 2: He is a transfer.
- 5:21Speaker 1: So I would assume that something, whoever the adult was,
- 5:24Speaker 1: was involved in this screwed up. You can never have
- 5:26Speaker 1: any sort of monetary agreement and expect it to hold
- 5:31Speaker 1: true unless it's in writing. So that's number one. Number two,
- 5:36Speaker 1: this is the greatest thing to ever happened to college
- 5:37Speaker 1: football because I've said forever there needs to be absolute
- 5:41Speaker 1: pandemonium for there to be any rules that are made,
- 5:43Speaker 1: like it has to prove that it is so broken
- 5:46Speaker 1: for anybody to step in and actually form it in
- 5:50Speaker 1: a way that seems to be healthier for the sport.
- 5:53Speaker 1: So speaking of the Wild West, that's what it kind
- 5:57Speaker 1: of feels like right now with NIL, with portal with
- 6:00Speaker 1: because there are no rules and regulations. As a matter
- 6:03Speaker 1: of fact, it keeps getting less and less rules in regulations.
- 6:05Speaker 4: But I can't think that college football or the people
- 6:07Speaker 4: behind all this didn't think that, hey, let's start paying
- 6:11Speaker 4: college players' money and let's not have any real regulations,
- 6:15Speaker 4: and they thought it was just going to be okay, but.
- 6:17Speaker 1: You didn't hear what I just said. It slowly pilled
- 6:19Speaker 1: itself back less and less rules. There was never a
- 6:21Speaker 1: day or they went. All the rules are gone. The
- 6:24Speaker 1: case goes to the Supreme Court. The Obanon case about
- 6:26Speaker 1: a video game. Right that happens now players can't get paid,
- 6:29Speaker 1: which they should have been paid all along. It's so stupid.
- 6:32Speaker 1: What's the difference in paying for a scholarship of a
- 6:34Speaker 1: kid or giving him money. He's getting paid.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Cash money different to the school.
- 6:39Speaker 1: There's no difference. So because other people have to pay
- 6:41Speaker 1: their own cash money.
- 6:42Speaker 2: To get that.
- 6:43Speaker 1: So it's a value, right It'd be like, okay, we
- 6:45Speaker 1: won't give them an I a own money, will give
- 6:46Speaker 1: a gift card. Well that's a thing, but it's not.
- 6:48Speaker 1: It's the same thing. So with the billions of dollars
- 6:52Speaker 1: that these schools are making off of these kids, I
- 6:55Speaker 1: think it is absolutely right that the people who are
- 6:57Speaker 1: creating the income make some of the income. But they
- 7:00Speaker 1: just didn't go one day, everybody can transfer and everybody
- 7:03Speaker 1: gets paid, not at all. The portal happened like five
- 7:06Speaker 1: or six years ago. It was a slow roll. All
- 7:08Speaker 1: of a sudden, the transfer, and people didn't really know
- 7:11Speaker 1: how to use it. The nil happens because the Supreme
- 7:13Speaker 1: Court they then are married to each other, because then
- 7:16Speaker 1: people would get in the portal because of the ability
- 7:18Speaker 1: to be paid. So there was never a moment where
- 7:21Speaker 1: a board sat around and went like, surely this won't
- 7:23Speaker 1: end bad. The onion just kept getting pilled back little
- 7:27Speaker 1: and little by little until because everybody takes advantage of
- 7:31Speaker 1: it rightfully, So we all do. We all take advantage
- 7:33Speaker 1: of everything we're given to the max that we can
- 7:36Speaker 1: take advantage of it, even like at work, like how
- 7:39Speaker 1: much can you get away with actually not working?
- 7:41Speaker 2: Taxes due?
- 7:42Speaker 7: Not me?
- 7:43Speaker 2: No, no, go out of your mind.
- 7:44Speaker 1: I didn't see people, do people?
- 7:48Speaker 2: Hey, look at my stuff. I'm clean.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Here's my point. My point is this, we need absolute
- 7:54Speaker 1: disasters to happen, so rules and regulations that make sense
- 8:00Speaker 1: now are kind of dictating what college athletics is. We
- 8:05Speaker 1: need this, we need this happened ten times, the crazy
- 8:07Speaker 1: things happening now because this story happens. I loved it.
- 8:12Speaker 1: I love to see Mayhem, but.
- 8:14Speaker 8: It sucks for you and LV it really does. And
- 8:15Speaker 8: Coach Otem friend of the show, Coach M's awesome.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Here's a forty percent passer who gets crap. They their
- 8:23Speaker 1: backup quarterback almost just as good. Okay, my point is
- 8:29Speaker 1: we needed this to happen. We need more of this
- 8:31Speaker 1: to happen. The new thing that's happening is if you
- 8:33Speaker 1: play in four games, I believe it is a rule
- 8:34Speaker 1: you no longer can red shirt. So fourth, so you
- 8:36Speaker 1: can play three games, but if you play your fourth
- 8:39Speaker 1: you no longer can red shirt. So some of these
- 8:42Speaker 1: student athletes are going, I'm three games in. I've played
- 8:45Speaker 1: in three games, but I'm not really making much money,
- 8:47Speaker 1: and I don't want to waste a year because I
- 8:50Speaker 1: only have four years of earning potential. So I'm gonna
- 8:53Speaker 1: go ahead and go I'm gonna red shirt.
- 8:56Speaker 5: Now.
- 8:56Speaker 1: They going to do it once, so they can't. It's
- 8:58Speaker 1: not like they can transfer everything. You can only read
- 9:00Speaker 1: shirt once. So the Bear kid from USC is doing this.
- 9:03Speaker 1: They get the kid that he went to Georgia where
- 9:05Speaker 1: is like recruited to Georgia, big recruit. Now he's at USC.
- 9:07Speaker 1: He's like, I played three games, I'm transferring.
- 9:09Speaker 8: Four games up to four games. Yeah, and then Notre
- 9:12Speaker 8: Dame kid did this too. In a corner he did
- 9:14Speaker 8: same thing.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Well, no, this is going to happen all over the place.
- 9:16Speaker 1: It's not surprised, I'm sure since we recorded this because
- 9:19Speaker 1: it's that time of the year. It's about it's the
- 9:21Speaker 1: fifth game, fourth game, whatever it is. That a lot
- 9:24Speaker 1: of kids and it's not a bad decision. It is
- 9:26Speaker 1: within the rules. So why would you not do it?
- 9:29Speaker 1: If you're an athlete that may not go to the
- 9:31Speaker 1: NFL and what nine percent of them do some crazy
- 9:34Speaker 1: stat where it's not that many, why would you not
- 9:37Speaker 1: take advantage of the four to five years where you
- 9:40Speaker 1: actually can make money off of your athletic career while
- 9:43Speaker 1: you're going to school. Like, I'm not going to fault
- 9:45Speaker 1: anybody for doing this because it's within the rules. Where
- 9:49Speaker 1: I would fault somebody as if they were doing it
- 9:51Speaker 1: and it wasn't that like they found a loophole. This
- 9:54Speaker 1: is not a loophole. This is right in the rules.
- 9:56Speaker 1: And I'm never gonna hate on somebody for going to
- 9:58Speaker 1: get their money like people that do that and like
- 10:00Speaker 1: you're just a quitter. I don't know what happened with
- 10:03Speaker 1: that you and you know, yeah that's different because of
- 10:06Speaker 1: I don't even think it's different I don't know what's happened.
- 10:09Speaker 1: I've talked to people on both not really both sides,
- 10:11Speaker 1: but I've talked to people who are in the program,
- 10:13Speaker 1: and I've talked to people who are based I'll just
- 10:16Speaker 1: call him reporters, And everybody kind of has a different story.
- 10:20Speaker 1: And if the kid was promised one hundred thousand dollars
- 10:24Speaker 1: and wasn't paid it, that sucks. And the problem was
- 10:28Speaker 1: it wasn't in writing. Yeah, but let's say it was
- 10:31Speaker 1: and it wasn't. But let's say it was. Anybody's promised
- 10:32Speaker 1: something in writing, they don't get it. I would quit too.
- 10:34Speaker 1: It's a job. So I don't hate somebody for making
- 10:38Speaker 1: a business decision. Ever, Will this decision hurt him in
- 10:40Speaker 1: the future if he ended up making it in a
- 10:42Speaker 1: very sloppy, reckless way, Yes, but that's the risk you
- 10:45Speaker 1: take whenever you make a business decision. This is a
- 10:47Speaker 1: business decision where I can like the college football is
- 10:50Speaker 1: romantic and you just stick with your team, but don't
- 10:52Speaker 1: deal our jobs. If our job sucks, we're not getting
- 10:54Speaker 1: paid what we're promised, you leave or you get fired.
- 10:58Speaker 1: That's so we shouldn't attack hatch a different emotion because
- 11:04Speaker 1: we romanticize college football. This is the only time this
- 11:07Speaker 1: kid is not gonna play in the NFL. This is
- 11:10Speaker 1: the only time he's ever gonna get paid to play football.
- 11:14Speaker 1: So why would you not maximize that the best possible. Well,
- 11:16Speaker 1: the reason people get mad and the people who do
- 11:18Speaker 1: get mad or either people who are never gonna make
- 11:20Speaker 1: money play sports or people already have their money, because
- 11:23Speaker 1: if it was you in that situation, or you're a kid,
- 11:25Speaker 1: you're treated completely different. So I'm not gonna villainize the kid.
- 11:28Speaker 1: I'm gonna villainize the adults around him that didn't get
- 11:32Speaker 1: it in writing, because nothing is real unless it's in writing.
- 11:37Speaker 1: You can handshake all day long.
- 11:39Speaker 2: And those are the good old days, man.
- 11:42Speaker 1: But see it's people that say that too. They hate
- 11:44Speaker 1: on college football for all the changes.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Good old days.
- 11:46Speaker 4: You shake someone's hand and be like, all right, man,
- 11:47Speaker 4: I will pay you tomorrow, and they pay you.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Yeah. So I'm not gonna hate on the kid. We
- 11:52Speaker 1: need things to go really wrong for a while before
- 11:54Speaker 1: somebody steps in to fix them, because otherwise they're just
- 11:57Speaker 1: mildly broken. And who cares about something mildly broken? If
- 11:59Speaker 1: your car's making a noise occasionally you ain't taking it
- 12:02Speaker 1: in good even the check engine, Yeah, you ain't taking
- 12:05Speaker 1: it in. Ain't taking it in. If smoke starts to
- 12:08Speaker 1: come out or you break down, you get it fixed.
- 12:12Speaker 1: We need smoke to come out and for it to
- 12:13Speaker 1: break down so that there's a bit of regulation too.
- 12:16Speaker 2: It's happened.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Got to hate rock Bottom, Yeah, that's what I would say.
- 12:19Speaker 1: And so I need we need more of these stories.
- 12:21Speaker 1: If you're gonna see a lot more people red shirting,
- 12:23Speaker 1: and it's if it's your team, you're like, what a loser? Yeah,
- 12:26Speaker 1: but you got to put yourself in that same exact place.
- 12:29Speaker 1: They're making business decisions. They are in a business. They're
- 12:32Speaker 1: a business. Their teams are businesses. The schools are businesses.
- 12:38Speaker 1: So good luck to that kid. It's gonna be tough.
- 12:42Speaker 1: He's like the first one to do that. Also, I
- 12:46Speaker 1: feel like if UNLV really wanted to keep them, they
- 12:48Speaker 1: had just paid them one hundred thousand dollars.
- 12:49Speaker 2: I feel like that's pretty easy for them, right.
- 12:51Speaker 1: I mean, think about what's one slot machine pool, They're
- 12:54Speaker 1: right down the street. I mean, think about though, how
- 12:57Speaker 1: much a Mountain West a shot at the Mountain West
- 13:01Speaker 1: title or a college football playoff appearance was worth millions
- 13:03Speaker 1: and millions of dollars. So if you felt like he
- 13:07Speaker 1: was something that would keep you from it or allow
- 13:10Speaker 1: you to get closer to it, Yeah, just paying one
- 13:12Speaker 1: hundred thousand possibly a playoff, That's what I'm saying. Yeah,
- 13:15Speaker 1: you just pay one hundred thousand bucks. Yeah, so the
- 13:18Speaker 1: investment is well worth it. So unless you don't think
- 13:21Speaker 1: the investment is worth it, which obviously they had decided
- 13:24Speaker 1: it wasn't. I don't know this, but one of the
- 13:30Speaker 1: rumors you pribaly saw online was like an offensive assistant
- 13:33Speaker 1: coach just promised it to him. They didn't want to
- 13:35Speaker 1: put it in writing because if you put it in writing,
- 13:37Speaker 1: such and such rules come into play. If that's the case, well,
- 13:43Speaker 1: the risk you take by not letting those rules come
- 13:45Speaker 1: into play is that it's not in writing. And if
- 13:47Speaker 1: they want to go now we're good, they go now
- 13:49Speaker 1: we're good. But also, if that assistant coach really wanted you,
- 13:56Speaker 1: it was important he'd find the money. So the collective
- 14:01Speaker 1: have the money. They're paying three grand a month, so
- 14:03Speaker 1: he was. He's making thirty six grand a month anyway,
- 14:06Speaker 1: so they need to pay another what sixty four thousand dollars.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Yeah, that's all.
- 14:12Speaker 1: I'm not gonna hate on the kid. That's a business.
- 14:14Speaker 1: It's not elementary school. It is a business. We have
- 14:17Speaker 1: to remember that. If we were there, we do the
- 14:18Speaker 1: same thing.
- 14:20Speaker 8: So who is a kid that wasn't there? A quarterback
- 14:21Speaker 8: that went to Florida, he never started the season, didn't
- 14:24Speaker 8: get his money.
- 14:25Speaker 1: He comps some millions of dollars. Yep, nowver got his money.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Peace out. I'll do the same thing if I'm committing
- 14:31Speaker 1: somewhere because of something you're to If I'm gonna go
- 14:32Speaker 1: work for a place because they're telling me you're gonna
- 14:34Speaker 1: have your own office, We're gonna give you this salary,
- 14:37Speaker 1: you're gonna have your parking spot. And I get there, there
- 14:38Speaker 1: is no parking spot. I don't have an office, and
- 14:40Speaker 1: I'm only making a fraction one. You just lied to me.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Why would I work here? You're out of your mind.
- 14:47Speaker 1: So we should look at that in the same way. Well,
- 14:50Speaker 1: we roll a man in size college football, therefore we don't.
- 14:54Speaker 1: But we shouldn't as much because it's business.
- 14:57Speaker 4: It does suck for you on LV though they're coming.
- 14:59Speaker 4: It's just a distraction. Now for the pretty good season
- 15:02Speaker 4: going to.
- 15:02Speaker 1: A historic season, Yeah, or it galvanizes you see things
- 15:07Speaker 1: that way. Well, I'm just saying it doesn't have to
- 15:10Speaker 1: be a complete distraction. I saw some of the players
- 15:12Speaker 1: now going finally.
- 15:13Speaker 8: Like, yeah, this's had to be going on for Yes,
- 15:17Speaker 8: that's what I was wondering, like week to week, is
- 15:18Speaker 8: he telling himself, all right, you guys got one more week,
- 15:20Speaker 8: one more week.
- 15:21Speaker 1: I'm sure this did not come as a surprise to
- 15:24Speaker 1: anybody that was in the central core of that program,
- 15:28Speaker 1: And the sources that I have were not surprised at all.
- 15:34Speaker 1: And I've heard different slight different versions of the story
- 15:37Speaker 1: from like four different people. So there's no need to
- 15:40Speaker 1: worry about who to trust orho's telling the truth. It exists.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Yeah, people are.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Going to take advantage of the rules as they are
- 15:46Speaker 1: it is allowed. We would all take advantage of any
- 15:49Speaker 1: rule we were allowed to do extra in if it's offered. Yes,
- 15:51Speaker 1: for sure. Let people make their money. Don't hate on
- 15:54Speaker 1: people for making their money. That's it. People love Tell
- 15:58Speaker 1: people how to spend their money, people love it, don't
- 16:01Speaker 1: There's no need. So I just wanted to comment on
- 16:04Speaker 1: that thing's been out for a couple of days. I'm
- 16:05Speaker 1: glad it had. There's been some days to live with
- 16:07Speaker 1: it where it's been in the news, and I've called
- 16:09Speaker 1: some people because my initial thought was, Okay, if they
- 16:14Speaker 1: promised him that money and they didn't give it to him,
- 16:15Speaker 1: it doesn't matter where he works or what he's doing.
- 16:17Speaker 1: I also would have left you lied to me and
- 16:20Speaker 1: said I was getting this if I come to do that,
- 16:22Speaker 1: regardless of what situation. But then he didn't sign anything,
- 16:24Speaker 1: and I'm like, oh, it's a parent's fault unless we
- 16:27Speaker 1: find out he did sign something. But they're saying, okay,
- 16:30Speaker 1: so there's that uh fever did not win, So not
- 16:35Speaker 1: going to the game. They came, they were down ten
- 16:37Speaker 1: or eleven, they got they took the lead. I think
- 16:40Speaker 1: they were up one with like four minutes left. They
- 16:42Speaker 1: came back from eleven down. It was awesome. Can't le clark,
- 16:44Speaker 1: but they were. They had two people on her the
- 16:46Speaker 1: whole night, so low disappointing because I had courtside seats
- 16:50Speaker 1: for Game three?
- 16:51Speaker 2: Can you reserve those for next season?
- 16:53Speaker 1: I don't think it's a reserve thing. I think it's
- 16:54Speaker 1: like the movies where you go on.
- 16:57Speaker 2: You're like, hey man, so we're not gonna make the game.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Avatar two and next week the guy know that's Joey
- 17:05Speaker 1: g the executive was like, dude, we'll do it again. Okay, awesome.
- 17:09Speaker 1: So yeah, that happened. I put a one hundred bucks
- 17:11Speaker 1: in the Bengals won the Super Bowl because the odds
- 17:13Speaker 1: have gotten real good.
- 17:14Speaker 2: When'd you do that?
- 17:16Speaker 1: After they lost the third game because the odds were
- 17:19Speaker 1: like plus twenty four hundred or something, and I was like,
- 17:21Speaker 1: they're I think they'll end up making the play. The
- 17:24Speaker 1: Steelers I win in that division right now. I don't
- 17:26Speaker 1: think they're gonna win that division. So when it's not
- 17:29Speaker 1: a team that you expect to run away with it,
- 17:30Speaker 1: there's a little room there.
- 17:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:32Speaker 1: So they are zero and three. I think if they win.
- 17:34Speaker 1: I think if they go nine to eight, they get
- 17:36Speaker 1: in the playoffs. And I think they're better than a
- 17:39Speaker 1: nine and eight team just generally, so you get in
- 17:42Speaker 1: the playoffs. It all starts over Joe Burrow. That's one
- 17:45Speaker 1: of the quarterbacks I would take in my first four
- 17:47Speaker 1: picks if I were having a new quarterback draft. So
- 17:50Speaker 1: I put one hundred bucks to win, like sixteen hundred
- 17:53Speaker 1: hundred boe nice, and I put it money on any
- 17:56Speaker 1: other one three team, but I feel like the Bengals,
- 17:58Speaker 1: the odds got so bad that it was worth a
- 18:00Speaker 1: hundred dollars investment.
- 18:00Speaker 8: I gotta say, I don't think i've ever heard you
- 18:02Speaker 8: say I put one hundred bucks on it.
- 18:03Speaker 2: No, good job there.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Yeah, that's pretty good, very low.
- 18:07Speaker 2: That's a low amount of money. Wow, totally, that's something
- 18:12Speaker 2: I would do.
- 18:13Speaker 3: Yeah, no, you wouldn't.
- 18:14Speaker 1: You put dogs that's put one hundred dollars on anything.
- 18:17Speaker 1: Super Bowl, super Bowl like flexing for no reason to flex,
- 18:19Speaker 1: you don't put a hundred buck on But also I
- 18:23Speaker 1: wasn't going to bet a thousand on it because they're
- 18:25Speaker 1: owing three. No, I know, but still like one hundreds,
- 18:28Speaker 1: Like all right, are.
- 18:29Speaker 2: You saying he's maturity a little bit?
- 18:30Speaker 1: Well yeah, yeah, sure, No, there's no maturation because I'm
- 18:35Speaker 1: only getting richer. Let's be honest, he's got the money. Yeah,
- 18:39Speaker 1: I'm saying. My business decision was I don't want to
- 18:42Speaker 1: put a bunch of money in own three team because
- 18:44Speaker 1: odds are they're not going to win the Super Bowl
- 18:45Speaker 1: regardless of who it is. But when they do those
- 18:48Speaker 1: stats like only nine percent of teams that start owing
- 18:51Speaker 1: two what they're not factoring in is there are two
- 18:55Speaker 1: new playoff teams now, so that that really dicks with
- 18:58Speaker 1: the percentages. So we're used to be eight, it's now nine, right,
- 19:05Speaker 1: No it' what is it now seven?
- 19:07Speaker 2: It's seven teams.
- 19:07Speaker 1: It was six, it was six, now seven, thank you.
- 19:10Speaker 1: So they're two teams on each side. So and also
- 19:13Speaker 1: that division with Pittsburgh leading the division, I don't think
- 19:15Speaker 1: they're going to win that division. Baltimore struggled, Cleveland is terrible,
- 19:22Speaker 1: and Cincinnatis on three. So with Baltimore not you know,
- 19:25Speaker 1: they fight. Baltimore one beat the Cowboys, right, got their
- 19:27Speaker 1: first win. They're only one game over the Bengals, and
- 19:29Speaker 1: those two teams are still going to be the two teams.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Probably they're fighting for the division because I don't think
- 19:34Speaker 1: Pittsburgh's good enough offensively. So that's why I made that bad.
- 19:37Speaker 1: You guys may put more on it now.
- 19:39Speaker 8: No, I'm not saying no, I think it's a good thing.
- 19:44Speaker 1: I think it's like I'm like, dang, he only bets
- 19:46Speaker 1: on hundred bucks two that's cool.
- 19:47Speaker 5: Nice?
- 19:48Speaker 2: Oh you're like him?
- 19:49Speaker 1: No, I don't ever do one hundred. What is your unit?
- 19:54Speaker 1: Show me your unit?
- 19:55Speaker 2: Whoa, WHOAOA.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Off camera? What is your unit? What do you mean
- 20:02Speaker 1: by that? Like my top?
- 20:04Speaker 2: Like do you bet okay?
- 20:05Speaker 1: Five?
- 20:05Speaker 8: I usually do five bucks? Okay, so on a single bet,
- 20:08Speaker 8: and then if I do, then I think the most
- 20:11Speaker 8: like I really really will push.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Unit would be a normal standard bet. If you're just
- 20:15Speaker 1: bet in one unit would be what it would That's
- 20:17Speaker 1: why people sometimes don't talk about money. They talk about
- 20:19Speaker 1: many units they bet because everybody's money is different. It's
- 20:22Speaker 1: all relative to what they bet. So if I were
- 20:23Speaker 1: to bet five units, that's probably my unit is one
- 20:25Speaker 1: hundred bucks. So if I'm just gonna throw a hundred bucks,
- 20:28Speaker 1: that's just a normal I feel okay about it. But
- 20:30Speaker 1: I'm going to bet it. Okay, I feel pretty good
- 20:31Speaker 1: about it. You do a three, I'll do a ten
- 20:33Speaker 1: unit bet on some that's a thousand bucks, right, okay?
- 20:35Speaker 1: So a unit is like your normal. I'm just gonna
- 20:38Speaker 1: bet it's my standard, and then you measure it by units.
- 20:41Speaker 2: Gotcha?
- 20:42Speaker 1: So yours are probably fives with your description, Yes, Eddie's
- 20:45Speaker 1: is one.
- 20:46Speaker 4: Well one on parlays. I'm a one dollar parlay guy,
- 20:49Speaker 4: so that's not really my unit. I think if I'm
- 20:50Speaker 4: going to bet one game straight up? It's five bucks okay, Oh,
- 20:54Speaker 4: unless I have money in the bank, I'll go ten.
- 20:56Speaker 4: So that's two units though, right, So yes, but I'm
- 21:00Speaker 4: feeling good. I got to put two units on it.
- 21:01Speaker 1: I feel like Casey knows a lot about gambling because
- 21:05Speaker 1: I feel like he's just sitting over there, He's going, yeah.
- 21:07Speaker 4: I feel like he's got you know, Bookie, Well, that's
- 21:10Speaker 4: just kids from New York.
- 21:11Speaker 2: You forget about it.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Did your dad? Did your dad gamble?
- 21:16Speaker 2: He gambled on horses? O t b Hey, for sure.
- 21:23Speaker 1: So did you grow up in a sports gambling house
- 21:26Speaker 1: at all?
- 21:27Speaker 9: Not?
- 21:27Speaker 3: Really?
- 21:28Speaker 1: Did you bet? Because I went to the horse trike
- 21:30Speaker 1: a lot as a kid, sneak in, get adults to
- 21:31Speaker 1: bet the money for you. The two dollars minimal bet.
- 21:34Speaker 1: So I went to the track a lot as munch kid,
- 21:36Speaker 1: a bunch whatever.
- 21:37Speaker 2: Yeah, we used to do that because Belmont bell Mount
- 21:39Speaker 2: Steaks is like right around the block for us a lot. Yeah.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Do you bet now?
- 21:43Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 21:44Speaker 3: I do?
- 21:44Speaker 2: But yeah, I'm like a fight dolar unit thing.
- 21:47Speaker 1: I used to be a five dollars. It's all relative
- 21:49Speaker 1: to where you are.
- 21:51Speaker 2: When were you a five dollar?
- 21:53Speaker 1: Well, they didn't really have sports like my buddy, we.
- 21:57Speaker 10: Don't talk about that, buddy, read what did your unit?
- 22:00Speaker 1: I stop with my units? Man, Yeah, but when I
- 22:02Speaker 1: did have a unit, it was like twenty five, So
- 22:04Speaker 1: that's why I stopped. Just doesn't lose like he loses,
- 22:08Speaker 1: but he doesn't lose over there's no overall loss. Everybody
- 22:11Speaker 1: loses a little bit inside of a series of bets.
- 22:14Speaker 1: But like if Read's around, like good things just happen.
- 22:18Speaker 2: That's because it's a good guy.
- 22:19Speaker 1: I guess patient it's weird. H Okay, why don't we
- 22:23Speaker 1: go and do the tittle Tattle? Let's got his name ever?
- 22:29Speaker 1: The tittle Tattle.
- 22:34Speaker 8: Following our visit the Stone Colds Ranch, if you can
- 22:36Speaker 8: get in the ring with any current or former wrestler,
- 22:39Speaker 8: who would it be?
- 22:39Speaker 1: By the way, shout out Stone Cold see Boston on Monday,
- 22:42Speaker 1: we put out the full hour episode. We put out
- 22:44Speaker 1: the too Much Access, but we do the full hour
- 22:46Speaker 1: interview Monday on the Bobby Cast. My favorite wrestler of
- 22:49Speaker 1: all time is the blonde haired Sting. So I've tried
- 22:53Speaker 1: to meet Sting. No luck, So it'd be Sting because
- 22:56Speaker 1: I've never met him.
- 22:57Speaker 2: That'd be cool.
- 22:57Speaker 1: When I wrote my first book, I wrote inside of
- 23:01Speaker 1: one chapter like people I looked up to when I
- 23:04Speaker 1: was a kid, and in that word Sting the wrestler,
- 23:08Speaker 1: Mark Grace, the baseball player. And I think Sting just
- 23:12Speaker 1: found my book or somebody told him about it and
- 23:16Speaker 1: he just signed the page it was on and mailed
- 23:18Speaker 1: it to me. What Ing, no note, nothing, Hey, maybe
- 23:25Speaker 1: he read it, though probably not. And I think he
- 23:27Speaker 1: just signed over his name and they just sent the book.
- 23:30Speaker 1: And I remember just getting the book in the mail
- 23:31Speaker 1: at the radio station and like, why did somebody just
- 23:33Speaker 1: send me a generic book? And I was flipping through
- 23:36Speaker 1: it and he just said, I don't even know where
- 23:38Speaker 1: that book is. I do have a Sting autograph, but
- 23:42Speaker 1: it's Sting the singer that I bought thinking it.
- 23:44Speaker 2: Was that's funny. I can see how that can happen.
- 23:49Speaker 1: So it would be Sting stone cold. I was in college,
- 23:52Speaker 1: so he was massive and awesome, but I didn't look
- 23:58Speaker 1: up to wrestlers as much then, where it was like
- 24:00Speaker 1: this person's awesome. It was like man sold as legit.
- 24:03Speaker 1: That makes sense. Yeah, as a little older, Yeah.
- 24:05Speaker 2: That takes out.
- 24:05Speaker 1: So yeah, I go Stinging the Blonde not staying the
- 24:09Speaker 1: dark haired Sting. I'm trying to think of sin. What
- 24:12Speaker 1: another difference between Sting the blonde? Well, no, no, same guy.
- 24:16Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, yeah, but but the version was one, yeah,
- 24:19Speaker 4: like dark.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Really colorful pants. I'm thinking of a different state. You
- 24:22Speaker 1: want to face paint. Yeah, that's what I'm thinking of it.
- 24:26Speaker 1: But the blonde Sting had bright colored face paint.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Was one a villain and one a good guy.
- 24:31Speaker 1: They were dark haired. Sting was mostly a good guy.
- 24:36Speaker 1: He'd flip a little bit, but he was based on
- 24:38Speaker 1: the crow. Yeah, this is a thing, Brandon Lee. Yeah,
- 24:42Speaker 1: what are you looking at? This is the Sting I'm
- 24:44Speaker 1: thinking of with the white face paint, and he was
- 24:46Speaker 1: with that the longest, but when he was blonde. But
- 24:48Speaker 1: it's the same stingyame guy.
- 24:51Speaker 8: Yeah, I didn't know he'd been around that long because
- 24:53Speaker 8: I watched that Sting as a kid.
- 24:55Speaker 1: Black hair, black hair, the crow Sting Yes, the crows,
- 24:58Speaker 1: sorry yeah crow, Yeah, no it Beasting's my answer. Okay,
- 25:02Speaker 1: thank you for asking.
- 25:04Speaker 2: All right?
- 25:04Speaker 8: Do you think there's more pressure on Kirby Smart to
- 25:07Speaker 8: win the Big Showdown this weekend now that Saban has
- 25:09Speaker 8: gone from Bama?
- 25:10Speaker 1: I did see that Bama is underdog for the first time,
- 25:12Speaker 1: so it's like the Civil War at home, which is
- 25:15Speaker 1: not really civil war but like the nineties or something.
- 25:17Speaker 2: I know it.
- 25:17Speaker 1: So, I mean, Saban was Kirby's kryptonite, but it was
- 25:21Speaker 1: always like, here are all Saban's coaches, none of them
- 25:24Speaker 1: can beat him. But Kirby did a bit. But Alabama
- 25:28Speaker 1: is the only team to defeat Georgia since twenty twenty,
- 25:30Speaker 1: and that wasn't the SEC championship, So Georgia hasn't beat
- 25:33Speaker 1: in a conference game. That's why that Kentucky game was
- 25:35Speaker 1: so weird. And Georgia is playing Kentucky would have been
- 25:37Speaker 1: the first in season game for them to lose. I
- 25:42Speaker 1: don't think so. Mostly, I think if the College Football
- 25:45Speaker 1: Playoff didn't exist, the answer would be yes. But I
- 25:47Speaker 1: think any pressure is met by you can lose one
- 25:50Speaker 1: or two, and if you're Georgia, you lose one or two,
- 25:52Speaker 1: you get in over another team that lost one or
- 25:54Speaker 1: two because you're Georgia. So I think they can lose
- 25:57Speaker 1: this game and be fine.
- 25:58Speaker 8: Can I second that question? Then that make it less
- 26:00Speaker 8: intriguing to you this game because of that than it
- 26:04Speaker 8: would in years past.
- 26:05Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't think it's less intriguing. I
- 26:07Speaker 1: don't like it. Whenever it is like, you lose, your
- 26:11Speaker 1: season's pretty much over. That sucks.
- 26:13Speaker 10: What if that was what the NFL was like, that
- 26:14Speaker 10: would suck. Oh yeah, I wouldn't be out.
- 26:17Speaker 1: I'd never been on the Bengals one hundred dollars. So no,
- 26:21Speaker 1: I'm interested in the game. I'm super interested in the game.
- 26:23Speaker 1: That's fun. But when people are like it runs how
- 26:28Speaker 1: like how important the game is early in the year,
- 26:30Speaker 1: I kind of hate that it all could revolve around
- 26:32Speaker 1: one game in Week three or four. I think it's
- 26:34Speaker 1: pretty stupid. Actually, So no, I'm into it. I like it.
- 26:38Speaker 1: I don't think the pressure is on them. I think
- 26:42Speaker 1: if it were, though it's met by, It's okay. We
- 26:43Speaker 1: can still get to the college football Playoff with two losses.
- 26:46Speaker 1: I think they can lose this one and lose the
- 26:47Speaker 1: SEC championship game and still get in. Would else?
- 26:50Speaker 3: All?
- 26:50Speaker 1: Right, which NFL coach do you think will get fired first?
- 26:52Speaker 1: I mean it's probably Doug Peterson, right, I mean that's
- 26:54Speaker 1: it's slowly more and more and more and more. I
- 26:58Speaker 1: mean that their owner con was like, it's the greatest
- 27:00Speaker 1: Jaguar team I've ever had. It sucks. I really need
- 27:06Speaker 1: trouble once to play well fantasy. Nah, I got a
- 27:08Speaker 1: bunch of rookie cards. He should just cut his hair though.
- 27:12Speaker 1: His hair is not good. Yeah, and it's bad luck now,
- 27:15Speaker 1: but it's just not good. It's like stringy. It's like
- 27:17Speaker 1: where I come from. That's the kind of hair everybody had.
- 27:20Speaker 2: Is it because he's getting older because he used to
- 27:22Speaker 2: look really good?
- 27:23Speaker 1: I didn't even like it really is. It's not really
- 27:24Speaker 1: good there. He has long hair. It's fine, but it's
- 27:26Speaker 1: just straight, super straight. Yeah, it's it's too straight, like
- 27:28Speaker 1: guys rather have a perm Yeah. Either put some put
- 27:31Speaker 1: some texture into it, or cut it no wave or nothing. Yes,
- 27:34Speaker 1: no way, I agree. Yeah, I've always been like, why
- 27:37Speaker 1: does he cut his hair? It doesn't look good.
- 27:38Speaker 2: You're coming from a fashion point, like I just.
- 27:41Speaker 1: Need a little texture something. Is that too much to ask?
- 27:43Speaker 1: And it's got like a like spaghetti noodles? Yeah? All right.
- 27:49Speaker 1: I think Doug Peterson probably goes in season if they
- 27:54Speaker 1: lose in two more games. Probably in season. You know,
- 27:57Speaker 1: I was reading We're Yeah, I forget which owner it
- 28:01Speaker 1: was was talking about why you don't fire a coach
- 28:03Speaker 1: in season, because when you fire a coach in season,
- 28:06Speaker 1: even if the team is playing horribly, if you fire
- 28:09Speaker 1: them in season and the interim coach does a pretty
- 28:12Speaker 1: good job, everybody screams they want the interim coach to
- 28:14Speaker 1: be the new head coach. But it was just because
- 28:15Speaker 1: a new jolt of energy and the play where then
- 28:18Speaker 1: the owner's kind of like pressured, like Antonio Pierce has
- 28:21Speaker 1: that now with the Raiders, and I don't know if
- 28:22Speaker 1: he's gonna be a good head coach or not, but
- 28:23Speaker 1: that's what happened.
- 28:25Speaker 2: They made he was awesome when he interroomed, when you
- 28:29Speaker 2: filled in.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Yeah, so I The Kevin Stefanski thing is weird because
- 28:34Speaker 1: you know, he's been Coach of the Year. The brown suck,
- 28:37Speaker 1: but he's a really good coach and if he were gone,
- 28:40Speaker 1: somebody would immediately grab him. Yeah yeah, like he's a
- 28:44Speaker 1: great coach. Yeah, so he's the same coach that. I mean,
- 28:49Speaker 1: flat goes are quarterback and they do they need Watson
- 28:53Speaker 1: a goal away.
- 28:55Speaker 2: The whole thing is just crazy bizarre.
- 28:58Speaker 6: It's like, I guess just Watson is just not into
- 29:01Speaker 6: football anymore. I think there's just so much you know,
- 29:04Speaker 6: controversy going on in his life that I just feel
- 29:05Speaker 6: like he's just too distracted to want to play.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Well, I don't know.
- 29:09Speaker 1: He's also aged, he's aged too, but I don't know
- 29:12Speaker 1: that that's all of it. I think you're right. I
- 29:13Speaker 1: think if you had all these charges in settlements and like,
- 29:17Speaker 1: why is he going to stand in the pocket and
- 29:18Speaker 1: get crushed these guys? Like but also it's like, you
- 29:21Speaker 1: only have a couple more years to make your money,
- 29:22Speaker 1: and if you've signed the deal and it's all been guaranteed,
- 29:25Speaker 1: I get it. I'm gonna tell somebody to step away
- 29:28Speaker 1: from one hundred million dollars one hundred and fifty million.
- 29:31Speaker 2: Dollars to cut him. It's like the cap hit is
- 29:32Speaker 2: like I think, yeah, something like that. Yeah insane.
- 29:35Speaker 4: Yeah, But could it be like every money, all the
- 29:37Speaker 4: money I make, just goes to these allegations.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Well, I don't. I think those settlements were not disclosed. Well,
- 29:43Speaker 1: then new ones came out a couple of weeks ago.
- 29:46Speaker 2: So he makes more money. He's like, well it goes
- 29:47Speaker 2: to that.
- 29:47Speaker 1: Well no, but what if he doesn't make any more
- 29:49Speaker 1: money and he's still got to pay You're making that money,
- 29:52Speaker 1: so you can pay these I.
- 29:52Speaker 6: Wonder if there's like a legal loophole for the Browns,
- 29:54Speaker 6: where like, if he gets in trouble for these new accusations,
- 29:57Speaker 6: maybe they can have to pay him.
- 30:00Speaker 2: That's what they're probably hoping.
- 30:01Speaker 1: For, right They from things that I've read, they're looking.
- 30:05Speaker 1: They keep saying they're looking back into the contract, which
- 30:07Speaker 1: means they're trying to find a way. One line, it's
- 30:11Speaker 1: it'll be the biggest dead cap hit ever. He's gone
- 30:14Speaker 1: over the worst contract of all time. Yeah, I mean
- 30:16Speaker 1: Russell Wilson this is the other.
- 30:18Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 30:18Speaker 1: Second, this will be first was an all guaranteed I
- 30:21Speaker 1: guess No, I'm saying Russ's cappit. Yeah, like that's the
- 30:24Speaker 1: that's the leader in the clubhouse right now for biggest ever. Yeah,
- 30:27Speaker 1: it's true.
- 30:27Speaker 8: All right, Next question, All right, last one after an
- 30:29Speaker 8: zero to three start, or your Bengals the most disappointing
- 30:32Speaker 8: teams so far?
- 30:33Speaker 1: Your Bangles, they're surprising. I don't know that they're disappointing
- 30:39Speaker 1: because I I'm doing the Super Bowl somemer right shift
- 30:42Speaker 1: up put on that talking through the games. I think
- 30:46Speaker 1: the Jaguars are probably in my mind if I'm just
- 30:48Speaker 1: going from the most disappointing. It's not going to be
- 30:51Speaker 1: Miami because they lost their quarterback. It's not going to
- 30:53Speaker 1: be San Francisco. I'm disappointed their players aren't playing. But
- 30:56Speaker 1: there's a difference in being disappointed because people are injured
- 30:59Speaker 1: and disappointed because you have your full arsenal and they
- 31:01Speaker 1: still suck. So you have McCaffrey in Germany having to
- 31:06Speaker 1: go to a European Achilles specialist, like that ain't good. So,
- 31:12Speaker 1: I mean, that's real bad if he's having to fly
- 31:14Speaker 1: to another country. We have good doctors here, great doctors exactly.
- 31:18Speaker 1: The Bears are interesting because it looks kind of like
- 31:22Speaker 1: a train wreck over there, especially with everything we heard,
- 31:25Speaker 1: like it's going to be the easiest arrival for a
- 31:28Speaker 1: rookie quarterback. Ever, there are still times where Caleb thinks
- 31:31Speaker 1: he can out run people that he can't, like when
- 31:33Speaker 1: there are these Russians are coming in and Caleb thinks,
- 31:35Speaker 1: from a standstill he can get away from them. It's
- 31:37Speaker 1: a different it's a different different world. Now becauesn't much faster,
- 31:39Speaker 1: but he's gonna learn. What's the Bengals do? Yeah, they
- 31:43Speaker 1: played the Chiefs. Chiefs in that game was Patriots games,
- 31:47Speaker 1: terrible lot go ahead.
- 31:49Speaker 8: Patriots and then they just lost, and then they shouldn't
- 31:51Speaker 8: have lost to Patriots.
- 31:54Speaker 1: The Patriots the Commander's game was weird because nobody ever
- 31:57Speaker 1: punted on both sides. All they did was score all
- 32:00Speaker 1: It's so it's like the Bengals offense is doing what
- 32:02Speaker 1: they need to do. The defense just didn't make a
- 32:03Speaker 1: couple stops. So in the Chiefs game, they were in it. Yeah,
- 32:07Speaker 1: And I'm not making excuses for the future Super Bowl champion,
- 32:10Speaker 1: but that's why I'm not completely distraught about the Bengals.
- 32:14Speaker 2: Division matches yet. So they have all those.
- 32:16Speaker 1: They've been in it. Yeah, so I'm going I'm going
- 32:18Speaker 1: to Jags. If Miami doesn't get a quarterback, what are
- 32:22Speaker 1: they gonna do? Yeah, they have nothing. They lost Tua
- 32:29Speaker 1: now they lost because he's out right this week too, Tua. No? Oh,
- 32:33Speaker 1: Skyler Guyler pretty sure?
- 32:34Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 32:35Speaker 1: So is Boyer the starting quarterback Boyle Boyle whatever.
- 32:39Speaker 2: His name is Boyer and Boyle combined, yes, or because they.
- 32:43Speaker 1: Did end up signing snoop.
- 32:46Speaker 8: Yeah, it says uncertain about Skyler Thompson Boyle or Tyler Huntley.
- 32:51Speaker 1: Yeah, start it's Huntley, right, and Hunty played well when
- 32:57Speaker 1: Lamar was out. That's tillte thank you stupid? His name
- 33:01Speaker 1: ever the tone? All right, want a streak? You guys
- 33:09Speaker 1: want to do the parlay? Yeah, okay, Uh take Arkansas
- 33:13Speaker 1: plus four? Are you getting it out?
- 33:18Speaker 2: Yep?
- 33:20Speaker 1: I would take Arkansas plus four. I would take Oklahoma
- 33:25Speaker 1: money line. I should take Arkansas off this. Why I
- 33:29Speaker 1: just make two?
- 33:30Speaker 2: It's too you hit the last one.
- 33:31Speaker 1: I know it's two. Auburn sucked. That's why Texas A
- 33:35Speaker 1: and M not great. Not a great team, but they're fine.
- 33:38Speaker 1: Pull Arkansas into this. Okay, Oklahoma is going to beat Auburn.
- 33:41Speaker 1: I can't believe Oklahoma is only a two point favorite
- 33:44Speaker 1: even though they're at Auburn because we played at Auburn.
- 33:47Speaker 1: Auburn sucks. Hugh Freeze is a dirt bag too. By
- 33:51Speaker 1: the way his he went on, it was like we
- 33:54Speaker 1: played them nine more times. We beat them nine times.
- 33:57Speaker 1: Who says that after a loss? Even if you feel
- 33:58Speaker 1: that way, that's a loser talk.
- 34:00Speaker 2: You want the money line in Oklahoma.
- 34:02Speaker 1: I take Oklahoma money line. I take Kansas state money
- 34:09Speaker 1: line over Oklahoma State. And I would take Georgia money
- 34:16Speaker 1: line at Bama.
- 34:17Speaker 2: Could just pass that one. We go back Georgia money line.
- 34:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm gonna do all three money lines like it.
- 34:22Speaker 2: Okay, I'm not gonna say anything.
- 34:26Speaker 4: Looking for that Oklahoma game, not the Oklahoma State game.
- 34:30Speaker 1: They're at Kansas State, Oklahoma State at Kansas, Kansas State.

- 37:21Speaker 1: Right now, we're going to talk with head football coach
- 37:23Speaker 1: Eli drink Witz. Eli became the head coach of the
- 37:25Speaker 1: Tigers in twenty twenty. They're ranked eleven in the country.
- 37:28Speaker 1: He was the SEC Coach of the Year last year
- 37:30Speaker 1: and really turned the program around. I'm a big drink fan.
- 37:33Speaker 1: Shouldn't because Missouri and Arkansas rivals. I love him. He's
- 37:36Speaker 1: from Arkansas, like coach at Arkansas Day, went to high
- 37:38Speaker 1: school in Arkansas, like big Arkansas.
- 37:40Speaker 2: Seems like a cool dude.
- 37:41Speaker 1: Yeah, we liked him. Huh yeah, I like him a lot. Yeah,
- 37:43Speaker 1: so here he is coach drink Witz. Let me ask
- 37:46Speaker 1: about bye weeks because I know what why players like
- 37:49Speaker 1: bye weeks? Why do coaches like bye weeks? What will
- 37:51Speaker 1: you do differently?
- 37:52Speaker 3: First off, you get to just take a deep breath.
- 37:55Speaker 7: You don't have this constant churning in your stomach like
- 37:57Speaker 7: you know you got something on Saturday. It's going to
- 37:59Speaker 7: determine the happiness of about six and a half million people,
- 38:03Speaker 7: including yourself, and you get to kind of be normal,
- 38:07Speaker 7: like My daughter had a volleyball game last night, and
- 38:10Speaker 7: so I got to go pick her up from the game.
- 38:12Speaker 3: When the bus got back.
- 38:13Speaker 7: I'll get to go watch my daughter's T ball games
- 38:16Speaker 7: on Thursday night. Saturday, another daughter's got two volleyball games
- 38:21Speaker 7: in the morning, so you got you just kind of
- 38:23Speaker 7: get a sense of normalcy, and it's just a little
- 38:27Speaker 7: bit of a time to take a deep breath. I
- 38:30Speaker 7: think from a football standpoint, you can actually work on things.
- 38:34Speaker 3: You know, it's easy to say.
- 38:36Speaker 7: Hey, we got to get better this week, but when
- 38:38Speaker 7: there's a game coming and you have all this game
- 38:40Speaker 7: planning stuff you have to do, there's not a whole
- 38:42Speaker 7: lot of just moments where you can focus on fundamentals
- 38:45Speaker 7: and improvement because you've got to get the schemes in
- 38:47Speaker 7: for that week.
- 38:48Speaker 3: You've got to get the preparation in.
- 38:51Speaker 7: But in a bye week, again, you don't have an
- 38:52Speaker 7: opponent on Saturday, that opponent yourself, so there's really more
- 38:56Speaker 7: time to focus in on Hey, this twenty minutes of
- 38:58Speaker 7: practice is going to be specific to getting better. Five
- 39:02Speaker 7: minutes on third downs, five minutes on team run, five
- 39:05Speaker 7: minutes on motion adjustments.
- 39:07Speaker 3: So that's probably the best thing about it.
- 39:09Speaker 1: Do you double scout the teams? Like, will you spend
- 39:12Speaker 1: a good two weeks? I know you guys have A
- 39:14Speaker 1: and M coming up, will yeah? Do you like coming
- 39:17Speaker 1: off a bye week because you have put an extra
- 39:19Speaker 1: time or is it just still Are you spending more
- 39:21Speaker 1: time doing fundamentals and you're doing the same amount for
- 39:23Speaker 1: every team?
- 39:24Speaker 7: It's really both. So like today is Tuesday, and so
- 39:28Speaker 7: we will work just on ourselfs. Tomorrow we'll spend some
- 39:32Speaker 7: time on a future opponent that's not named Texas A
- 39:36Speaker 7: and M, who's in this next four week segment. And
- 39:39Speaker 7: then on Thursday we'll turn our full attention to Texas
- 39:42Speaker 7: A and M. So we will get maybe a day
- 39:44Speaker 7: and a half ahead of our opponent, you know, but
- 39:48Speaker 7: we will also get a day ahead on another opponent too.
- 39:52Speaker 7: I don't like to practice too much for one team.
- 39:54Speaker 7: It's like you ever sharpen a pencil too much and
- 39:57Speaker 7: that edge is a little too fine and you push
- 39:59Speaker 7: it on the paper breaks. I think you can get
- 40:01Speaker 7: that way with practice for one opponent. I think you can.
- 40:05Speaker 7: You can overdo it, so to speak, because no matter
- 40:08Speaker 7: how much you're going to practice, they're going to have
- 40:10Speaker 7: a new wrinkle, and so you've got to be prepared
- 40:12Speaker 7: to adjust.
- 40:14Speaker 1: Are you the bell of the ball in Columbia? Can
- 40:15Speaker 1: you grocery shop?
- 40:18Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 40:19Speaker 3: I can grocery shop. You find it funny?
- 40:22Speaker 7: The other day I was I was driving my car
- 40:25Speaker 7: to stop light and there were two college aged students
- 40:28Speaker 7: who had their phone up next to the window taking
- 40:30Speaker 7: a picture. And I just looked at him and was like,
- 40:33Speaker 7: if you'll just tell me, I'll smile for the picture.
- 40:36Speaker 7: I'm always worried that they're going to catch me picking
- 40:38Speaker 7: my nose or something while I'm driving or singing to myself.
- 40:43Speaker 3: In the car.
- 40:44Speaker 7: But I'll say this, I don't let it affect me
- 40:47Speaker 7: one way or the other. I just know I got
- 40:49Speaker 7: to wear a hat when I go to the grocery
- 40:50Speaker 7: store instead of going all wild and free.
- 40:53Speaker 1: Talk about Brady Cook for a second, because he's been on.
- 40:58Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, I don't think there's a you know,
- 41:02Speaker 7: I've been around some really good quarterbacks, have been privileged
- 41:04Speaker 7: to coach several that have gone on to play in
- 41:07Speaker 7: the NFL. But Brady might be my favorite, just from
- 41:11Speaker 7: the standpoint of he's got everything. He's got leadership, he's
- 41:14Speaker 7: got accountability, he's got toughness, he's.
- 41:16Speaker 3: Got playmaking ability.
- 41:19Speaker 7: But there's something about a kid who just works really
- 41:22Speaker 7: hard to be the best that he can be.
- 41:24Speaker 3: And that's really Brady Cook. I mean, he works. Nothing
- 41:27Speaker 3: was given to him.
- 41:29Speaker 7: He's not just the most gifted player. He's really had
- 41:32Speaker 7: to work to become who he is. And I mean,
- 41:36Speaker 7: I hate to say it like this, but he's like
- 41:37Speaker 7: the American dream man. He's like Rocky Balboa to an extent,
- 41:42Speaker 7: where you know, he just keeps betting on himself and
- 41:45Speaker 7: keeps delivering.
- 41:47Speaker 1: I had a caller call the show and they were
- 41:49Speaker 1: doing a paper on grit and she was like, she
- 41:53Speaker 1: got through the phone lines and she said, Hey, would
- 41:54Speaker 1: you talk about what you think grit is? And I
- 41:58Speaker 1: think my career has been more based off perseverance, right,
- 42:01Speaker 1: like not doing a very good job and getting up
- 42:03Speaker 1: again and doing it a little better and a little better,
- 42:05Speaker 1: because I've naturally not been that gifted at anything. How
- 42:09Speaker 1: would you define grit? And who are a couple of
- 42:10Speaker 1: your grittiest players?
- 42:13Speaker 5: Man?
- 42:13Speaker 7: I love that you asked this question. Gritz the stubborn
- 42:15Speaker 7: refusal to quit. I mean, that's all it is. It's
- 42:18Speaker 7: just you refuse to give up, and it's passion plus
- 42:21Speaker 7: perseverance over time, Like what are you willing to endure
- 42:25Speaker 7: to accomplish what you want to accomplish. I think Brady
- 42:29Speaker 7: obviously is a great example of grit. I think Cody
- 42:31Speaker 7: Schrader last year was an extreme example of grid. I
- 42:35Speaker 7: think when you look at this year's running backs, Marcus Carroll,
- 42:37Speaker 7: Naatean Nowell, those two guys are really gritty players who
- 42:40Speaker 7: had to overcome a lot and bet on themselves, refuse
- 42:43Speaker 7: to give in to the outside noise to achieve what
- 42:46Speaker 7: they want to achieve. I think Johnny Walker, defensive end
- 42:50Speaker 7: for me, came in at one hundred and ninety seven pounds,
- 42:53Speaker 7: had four wisdom teeth taken out within the first week
- 42:56Speaker 7: of him being here. Now he weighs two hundred and
- 42:58Speaker 7: fifty six pounds. Was the MVP of the Cotton Bowl.
- 43:01Speaker 7: It took him four years to really earn significant playing time.
- 43:05Speaker 7: But instead of pouting, instead of trying to go into
- 43:09Speaker 7: a different situation, he just said, I'm going to sustain
- 43:12Speaker 7: excellence every day and that's.
- 43:15Speaker 3: Really what you have to do.
- 43:17Speaker 7: You know, we have We had a group of Navy
- 43:19Speaker 7: seals come in and they said, winning is reserved for
- 43:22Speaker 7: those who are willing to pay the price. And that's
- 43:25Speaker 7: kind of our thought process this year, like what price
- 43:27Speaker 7: are we willing to pay to win? And you've got
- 43:31Speaker 7: to be willing to outlast people. You've got to be
- 43:33Speaker 7: willing to to sustain it even when it's not going
- 43:37Speaker 7: your way.
- 43:38Speaker 4: Coach, at the end of the game, you know, I
- 43:39Speaker 4: see the two coaches go and they meet each other.
- 43:42Speaker 4: What can you possibly tell each other, especially if you've
- 43:45Speaker 4: lost the game?
- 43:46Speaker 2: Like what's that conversation like? Or do you are you thinking?
- 43:49Speaker 2: Like what am I going to tell him? As I
- 43:50Speaker 2: walk up there.
- 43:52Speaker 7: You know, I've had some awkward conversations with the head
- 43:54Speaker 7: coaches across the deal. Honestly, you know, when you're the
- 44:02Speaker 7: winning coach and you're going across the field to the
- 44:04Speaker 7: guy who's lost, you realize and know how much pain
- 44:08Speaker 7: they're in right then, And really, all I'm trying to
- 44:11Speaker 7: do is give them some some sort of like comfort
- 44:14Speaker 7: or something, because man, the hardest thing to do is
- 44:18Speaker 7: to swallow all your emotions and then go in there
- 44:21Speaker 7: and address your team.
- 44:24Speaker 3: So that's really what I'm doing.
- 44:25Speaker 7: When whenever they're they're saying something to me after they're
- 44:29Speaker 7: whipping my butt. It's usually as quick as I can
- 44:32Speaker 7: just shake their hand and try to gather my thoughts
- 44:34Speaker 7: and emotions before I address the team. But you know,
- 44:37Speaker 7: I have such a tremendous amount of respect for the
- 44:39Speaker 7: head coaches in this league. You know, it's a it's
- 44:43Speaker 7: a fraternity of really good men, and you know, we
- 44:47Speaker 7: don't always get along, we don't always agree with each other,
- 44:49Speaker 7: but there is a level of respect there. And so
- 44:52Speaker 7: you know, when you get a chance to visit with
- 44:54Speaker 7: another SEC head coach, you always treat it with a
- 44:57Speaker 7: little bit of respect.
- 44:58Speaker 1: I think a bit. The pre game would be awkward
- 45:01Speaker 1: if you're expected to talk and you don't really like
- 45:03Speaker 1: them or know them. Like we have guests in studio
- 45:05Speaker 1: and there are you know, celebrities that either I don't
- 45:08Speaker 1: like or I don't know them. We have to like
- 45:09Speaker 1: do small talk for like six minutes before this, and
- 45:13Speaker 1: that's torture for me. And I got to imagine just
- 45:16Speaker 1: the human nature of it there. That's probably the same situation.
- 45:19Speaker 1: So the pre more than the post. The post you
- 45:21Speaker 1: can get out over, but do you have to go
- 45:23Speaker 1: talk to the other head coach before the game.
- 45:25Speaker 3: Well, apparently you don't have to edit.
- 45:27Speaker 7: Ordron didn't come shake my hand before the first time
- 45:29Speaker 7: we played them, and that was really the first time
- 45:31Speaker 7: and only time I've ever had that happen.
- 45:33Speaker 1: So I guess you don't have to, but you're supposed
- 45:35Speaker 1: like that's the thing you're supposed to like, yeah, I.
- 45:36Speaker 7: Mean it's kind of a you know, it's kind of
- 45:38Speaker 7: a sportsmanship deal. I tell you when I come into
- 45:42Speaker 7: that the most is when you have to do the
- 45:44Speaker 7: Friday pre game media because there are some media that
- 45:47Speaker 7: you know have been taking shots at you or you know,
- 45:51Speaker 7: shots at your team, and then you got to go
- 45:53Speaker 7: sit there and act like you're going to be buddy
- 45:55Speaker 7: buddy and give them all the information that they want
- 45:57Speaker 7: to ask. So that one's always the one that you're.
- 46:00Speaker 1: Like, yeah, yeah, what if it's like, uh, I'll use
- 46:05Speaker 1: me for an example I've had, and I make no
- 46:09Speaker 1: everybody knows I'm a massive Arkansas supporter and booster and
- 46:12Speaker 1: involved in everyone, and so I've been a little underwhelmed
- 46:16Speaker 1: at our coaching decision, especially the Oclhoma State game, the
- 46:20Speaker 1: u AB game, and I've been the Sunshine pumper for years.
- 46:22Speaker 1: I believe I believe. And this is the first year
- 46:24Speaker 1: that I've publicly been like, man like, I don't feel
- 46:27Speaker 1: like our coaching really got us to a good place
- 46:29Speaker 1: to win. And I've said that, but I've been like loyal, loyal, oil.
- 46:34Speaker 1: If you were to see somebody like me that said that, like,
- 46:37Speaker 1: would you know? Would you do? You think Piman knows
- 46:40Speaker 1: that I've said such things.
- 46:42Speaker 7: He's probably cognizantly aware because of the influence that you
- 46:46Speaker 7: have over the state of Arkansas and the fans. And
- 46:49Speaker 7: I would just say this, man, Bobby, Look, it's natural
- 46:52Speaker 7: to say, yeah, there's like for me, I screwed up
- 46:56Speaker 7: right before half. I went forward on fourth down. Should
- 46:58Speaker 7: have never done and that end up call three points.
- 47:01Speaker 7: I think if the coaches make the attempt to acknowledge
- 47:05Speaker 7: the accountability, like hey, I screwed it up, I think
- 47:08Speaker 7: that should with the fans make sure that they understand, like.
- 47:10Speaker 3: Okay, he gets it now.
- 47:11Speaker 7: If they don't get it, if they're being stubborn about it,
- 47:14Speaker 7: if they're saying like they got their head in the sky,
- 47:17Speaker 7: then obviously people can say what they want. But I
- 47:19Speaker 7: think coach Pipman's doing a really good job in a
- 47:21Speaker 7: very difficult circumstance. And I think obviously the Travis Williams
- 47:25Speaker 7: at defensive coordinator.
- 47:27Speaker 3: I was a GA with him at Auburn. I think
- 47:29Speaker 3: he's a tremendous coach.
- 47:30Speaker 7: Obviously, coach Patreno's a really good football coach, and they
- 47:32Speaker 7: did an excellent job in the portal, So they're going
- 47:34Speaker 7: to be a really good football team this year.
- 47:36Speaker 3: I'll just say this.
- 47:38Speaker 7: As fans, it's easy to criticize and critique, but everybody's
- 47:43Speaker 7: growing into being the best version of themselves as a team.
- 47:46Speaker 7: I think you got to give them grace and positive
- 47:49Speaker 7: momentum as long as possible.
- 47:51Speaker 3: And when it comes to the point that you can't,
- 47:53Speaker 3: you can't.
- 47:54Speaker 7: Everybody individually has to make that own decision. But whatever
- 47:58Speaker 7: happened last year or the previous year, the previous momentum,
- 48:02Speaker 7: and that's totally different. It's about this year's team and
- 48:04Speaker 7: this year's journey and the opportunity for them to develop
- 48:08Speaker 7: their own identity. And you know, I saw that Oklahoma
- 48:11Speaker 7: State game. There obviously were some things that people could
- 48:15Speaker 7: be critical of, but the thing that I saw was
- 48:17Speaker 7: a team that kept competing, the team that made mistakes
- 48:20Speaker 7: but found a way to be in the game for
- 48:22Speaker 7: all the way up until, you know, until the last play,
- 48:26Speaker 7: and that's the sign of a team that's getting better.
- 48:28Speaker 7: So I would just encourage you. Man, they ain't that
- 48:32Speaker 7: far off. They're They're a tough, gritty team, which is
- 48:34Speaker 7: why they were able to beat Auburn.
- 48:36Speaker 3: You know, I don't know if they'd do it nine
- 48:37Speaker 3: out of nine times or anything. I don't have an.
- 48:39Speaker 7: Opinion on that, but I thought they were a really
- 48:43Speaker 7: good football team in that game.
- 48:44Speaker 3: I watched that game yesterday.
- 48:45Speaker 1: Actually, I'm being guilted now. I've just been guilty. I've
- 48:48Speaker 1: been guilty. That's okay. What's that like, not being under
- 48:52Speaker 1: the radar, Because now you guys have an expectation to
- 48:55Speaker 1: win if you have that big number by your name
- 48:56Speaker 1: and people are watching.
- 48:59Speaker 7: I think it's been a justing for us. I think
- 49:01Speaker 7: obviously that's something that we needed to address. Specifically after
- 49:05Speaker 7: the game Saturday, I just felt like there was hesitation
- 49:08Speaker 7: both within the coaches and the players playing afraid, afraid
- 49:12Speaker 7: to fail, afraid to lose. And you're never going to
- 49:14Speaker 7: be the best version of yourself being afraid to fail.
- 49:17Speaker 7: You got to go for it, you got to cut
- 49:18Speaker 7: it loose, and whatever happens happens. You got to believe
- 49:21Speaker 7: in yourself that you're tough enough to handle whatever adversity
- 49:24Speaker 7: or success is going to come your way. But you
- 49:26Speaker 7: can't try to guide the ball into the strike zone.
- 49:29Speaker 7: You can't try to guide the ball into a player.
- 49:31Speaker 7: You got to just go cut it loose. And so,
- 49:33Speaker 7: whether it's me, whether it's coaches, whether it's players, we
- 49:37Speaker 7: got to not worry about the rankings.
- 49:39Speaker 3: They are what they are. We got to just go
- 49:41Speaker 3: out there and do the very best that we can.
- 49:43Speaker 1: Final three questions, are you superstitious? If so, what do
- 49:46Speaker 1: you do? What are they?
- 49:49Speaker 7: I like the answer. I'm not superstitious, but I'm a
- 49:52Speaker 7: little stitious. So I absolutely keep the same pregame meal routine.
- 49:59Speaker 7: I absolutely keep the same Friday clothing routine. We have
- 50:04Speaker 7: a thing called Boots Thursday where we wear boots and
- 50:07Speaker 7: jeans on Thursdays. Very much adamant that I got to
- 50:10Speaker 7: do that.
- 50:11Speaker 3: So I'm not, like I said, not super but there's
- 50:16Speaker 3: a little bit of the right. It goes along the way.
- 50:19Speaker 4: Coach, you said that you watched the Arkansas game two
- 50:21Speaker 4: days after you guys played. What is your routine like,
- 50:25Speaker 4: are there like five games that you would have watched
- 50:27Speaker 4: on Saturday, but you were playing and then you'll watch
- 50:29Speaker 4: them later.
- 50:29Speaker 2: Is that what you do?
- 50:31Speaker 7: Yeah, I like to watch future opponents. I like to
- 50:35Speaker 7: watch high output offenses. I like to watch defenses. I
- 50:39Speaker 7: get a cut up of all the explosive passes from
- 50:42Speaker 7: the week.
- 50:42Speaker 3: Before in college football.
- 50:45Speaker 7: So you just try to stay on top of trends,
- 50:49Speaker 7: or you try to stay on top of issues, you know,
- 50:53Speaker 7: just listening to all the stuff.
- 50:55Speaker 3: You know, Auburn talked about their ability to really move
- 50:58Speaker 3: the ball but had a lot of turno. So I
- 51:00Speaker 3: wanted just to see if that was my.
- 51:03Speaker 7: Sense of it from watching it, And wanted to see
- 51:05Speaker 7: what t Will was doing defensively because we're going to
- 51:08Speaker 7: play him later. But then I wanted to see, you know,
- 51:11Speaker 7: I think coach Matrino is one of the best offensive
- 51:13Speaker 7: mines in college football. To just see what he's doing
- 51:15Speaker 7: and have seen the way he's developing a game plan
- 51:18Speaker 7: around his quarterback, to see if there's just anything that
- 51:21Speaker 7: we could borrow. You know, football is a game of
- 51:25Speaker 7: borrowing other people's ideas to see if they can apply
- 51:28Speaker 7: to what you do. And so, you know, I do
- 51:30Speaker 7: that with a lot of different people, but it gives
- 51:33Speaker 7: you kind of a trend of what's going on in
- 51:35Speaker 7: the game.
- 51:35Speaker 1: Final question, coach, if you're struggling emotionally mentally, who professionally
- 51:40Speaker 1: can you call? Who's your mentor.
- 51:44Speaker 7: Well, you know, there's there's a couple of different people
- 51:46Speaker 7: that I can reach out to.
- 51:48Speaker 3: From a spiritual standpoint.
- 51:49Speaker 7: There's a guy in Boone, North Carolina named doctor Dick
- 51:52Speaker 7: Furman who's been a really a person of great character
- 51:57Speaker 7: and integrity for me for the last six years, and
- 52:02Speaker 7: the highest of highs I can expect to get a
- 52:03Speaker 7: text from him that says t y L which stands
- 52:05Speaker 7: for thank you Lord or the lowest to lows I
- 52:08Speaker 7: can get a text from that. It's going to say
- 52:09Speaker 7: thank you Lord, because you just realize that you're blessed
- 52:12Speaker 7: to get the opportunity to do this and you realize
- 52:14Speaker 7: that your future is in his hands and not to
- 52:17Speaker 7: get caught up in the anxiety of it. From a
- 52:19Speaker 7: coaching standpoint, you know, Coach Malson's obviously a guy that
- 52:23Speaker 7: I can reach out to that we exchange ideas back
- 52:26Speaker 7: and forth from.
- 52:28Speaker 3: So there's just different people like that.
- 52:30Speaker 7: But in the but in those two situations, those would
- 52:34Speaker 7: probably be the first two phone calls. You know, sometimes
- 52:37Speaker 7: I'm not quite as quick to call Gus because you know,
- 52:40Speaker 7: he's still the guy that I ga for it, so
- 52:43Speaker 7: he'll tell me that that's pretty dumb.
- 52:44Speaker 3: You know, that's pretty what is your problem here?
- 52:47Speaker 5: Man?
- 52:48Speaker 3: But that's good to keep me humble.
- 52:50Speaker 1: Coach, congratulations on on and whatever happens to year, happens
- 52:53Speaker 1: this year, but really fundamentally turning the image of a
- 52:57Speaker 1: program around. You've done a fantastic job, fan, and good
- 53:01Speaker 1: luck the rest of the year, except for one game.
- 53:03Speaker 1: I'm really rooting for you.
- 53:04Speaker 3: Yeah, hey, I appreciate it.
- 53:06Speaker 7: I appreciate all the opportunity to be on this show
- 53:09Speaker 7: because I'm being from the state of Arkansas and watching
- 53:12Speaker 7: your success has been really awesome, and so to have
- 53:14Speaker 7: an opportunity to be on the show, you know, and
- 53:16Speaker 7: if y'all could ever figure out that fifty to fifty
- 53:19Speaker 7: raffle deal on t.
- 53:20Speaker 1: Start his coach, don't even get it going went another
- 53:23Speaker 1: half hour, Coach, All right, well let him go, Coach,
- 53:25Speaker 1: good to see you. This is much out with Texas
- 53:30Speaker 1: A and m head coach Mike Elko coach in his
- 53:33Speaker 1: first year as head coach of the Aggie, spent two
- 53:34Speaker 1: years at Duke, turned that program around. Aggi's are three
- 53:37Speaker 1: on one in the season. They face off against my
- 53:39Speaker 1: Arkansas team this week. But uh really happy coach all
- 53:42Speaker 1: co desided to come on here. He is coach Mike
- 53:45Speaker 1: Elko from Texas A and M Hey, coach, Hey, how
- 53:48Speaker 1: are you pretty good? Hey? Do you often wear like
- 53:50Speaker 1: a jersey because that's how I coach. He's got like
- 53:52Speaker 1: a jersey show. Yeah, it was like a jersey shirt
- 53:54Speaker 1: with a hood, like, Yeah.
- 53:57Speaker 5: That's that's my That's kind of what I go with
- 53:59Speaker 5: most of the days.
- 54:00Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 54:00Speaker 1: I have a question about when you went back to
- 54:03Speaker 1: A and M like, did you already know what part
- 54:04Speaker 1: of town you wanted to live? Because we live in
- 54:06Speaker 1: a like an industry sports and also like media where
- 54:10Speaker 1: there's a bit of moving, and I think there was
- 54:12Speaker 1: an advantage to having lived in a college station before.
- 54:15Speaker 1: Did you know the part of town you wanted to
- 54:16Speaker 1: go back to?
- 54:17Speaker 9: Yeah, it certainly made it a lot easier. It was
- 54:19Speaker 9: also nice the first day I came to the office
- 54:21Speaker 9: because I actually knew where I was going.
- 54:22Speaker 5: That's the first time I've been doing that in my
- 54:24Speaker 5: life too.
- 54:25Speaker 1: Did you have a bunch of A and M stuff
- 54:26Speaker 1: that you had it unloaded yet as far as that close.
- 54:29Speaker 5: No, you know, so I've never doubled back before.
- 54:31Speaker 9: So we've always had this method of taking everything we
- 54:34Speaker 9: have and giving it away on our way out of town.
- 54:37Speaker 9: And so I kind of maybe regret a little bit
- 54:38Speaker 9: of some of the stuff I gave away. I had
- 54:40Speaker 9: some good stuff I wish I.
- 54:41Speaker 1: Had back whenever you're making that decision, because you took
- 54:44Speaker 1: that Duke program and turned it into a real player,
- 54:47Speaker 1: and that'd something to be proud of. I mean, I
- 54:49Speaker 1: think a Duke is a basketball school, but I didn't
- 54:51Speaker 1: think of them just as a basketball school. You know,
- 54:53Speaker 1: in your years there, How hard was that decision to
- 54:56Speaker 1: leave a program that you had built in a power
- 54:58Speaker 1: for Power five conferen the time and go back to
- 55:01Speaker 1: A and M.
- 55:02Speaker 9: Yeah, I think it's really difficult, And I think when
- 55:04Speaker 9: you get to the top of it all, it's even
- 55:07Speaker 9: harder because your your decision affects the lives of so
- 55:10Speaker 9: many people. And so, you know, you got your own family,
- 55:13Speaker 9: which obviously matters a lot, but then you've got the
- 55:15Speaker 9: families of everybody who came to the Duke to work
- 55:17Speaker 9: with you and for you. You got the players, and
- 55:19Speaker 9: so it's not just you know, surface level, Hey, do
- 55:23Speaker 9: I want to be the coach at A and M
- 55:24Speaker 9: Or do I want to be the coach at Duke?
- 55:26Speaker 5: There's a lot more that goes into it, for sure.
- 55:28Speaker 1: Whenever you left, was it you know, possibly I like
- 55:31Speaker 1: to come back here one day? Or do you not
- 55:33Speaker 1: think about that because who knows how anybody's contract is
- 55:36Speaker 1: going to shake out anywhere?
- 55:37Speaker 9: Yeah, you don't really think about it from that perspective.
- 55:40Speaker 9: You know, you just honestly, anything I've ever done in my.
- 55:43Speaker 5: Whole career, you just you kind of go to work.
- 55:44Speaker 5: You do the best job you can.
- 55:46Speaker 9: You don't really think about what's coming next, And as
- 55:49Speaker 9: opportunities come along and present themselves, you just kind of
- 55:51Speaker 9: go through it and figure out what you think is
- 55:53Speaker 9: right for you and your family, and you know, try
- 55:56Speaker 9: to stay true to that as best you can. In
- 55:57Speaker 9: this wild profession that we're in.
- 55:59Speaker 1: Who's been the craziest freak athlete that you've coached? Where
- 56:03Speaker 1: I know you're looking at me now and you're like,
- 56:04Speaker 1: you're a freak athlete. Bobby because'm about to go work out,
- 56:06Speaker 1: Im about to get in the gym, coach right now,
- 56:07Speaker 1: and so who has it been that you have had
- 56:09Speaker 1: where you've been like, Man, this guy is a monster.
- 56:13Speaker 9: I think if you go back in the past, it's
- 56:15Speaker 9: probably the Marvin Leal who plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers
- 56:18Speaker 9: right now.
- 56:19Speaker 5: We signed him here. When I was a defensive.
- 56:21Speaker 9: Coordinator, he was the number three ranked player in the country,
- 56:23Speaker 9: and he had some crazy things he could do, you know,
- 56:27Speaker 9: high jumping and flipping up off the ground, and he
- 56:30Speaker 9: was a six ' five, two hundred and ninety five
- 56:33Speaker 9: pound kid, and so he was freaky athletic. Our defensive
- 56:36Speaker 9: end right now, Shamar Stewart is pretty freaky athletic when
- 56:39Speaker 9: it comes to those types of things too. He's a
- 56:42Speaker 9: good first off the bus guy and he plays like it.
- 56:44Speaker 1: My high school coach, because I was only a moderate
- 56:47Speaker 1: to average mid level high school athlete, he would say, man,
- 56:51Speaker 1: you get the most out of athletic ability, And in
- 56:52Speaker 1: a way that was a bit of an insult, meaning
- 56:54Speaker 1: I wasn't that athletic, but I was a pretty smart player.
- 56:56Speaker 1: But he'd like, you really get the most out of that?
- 56:58Speaker 1: What player did you have where that was like they
- 57:01Speaker 1: were a good athlete, but they really utilized every part
- 57:04Speaker 1: of their brain and studying and doing everything right and
- 57:07Speaker 1: got the most out of it.
- 57:08Speaker 9: Yeah, you know, I had a safety when I was
- 57:10Speaker 9: the defensive coordinator at wait far As, the kid named
- 57:12Speaker 9: Ryan Janvion, and he wound up starting probably forty six
- 57:17Speaker 9: forty seven games in the ACC, started all four years
- 57:20Speaker 9: as an ACC safety and never really got a chance
- 57:24Speaker 9: to go on to the next level because I think
- 57:26Speaker 9: he maybe didn't have that height, weight speed.
- 57:28Speaker 5: That the NFL requires or was looking for.
- 57:31Speaker 9: But he had a phenomenal college career at a really
- 57:33Speaker 9: high level, maximizing I think everything he could possibly do.
- 57:37Speaker 1: How do you feel about Texas being in the same
- 57:39Speaker 1: conference with you again, coach?
- 57:40Speaker 5: I think it's great. I think you have this huge
- 57:43Speaker 5: rivalry in state.
- 57:44Speaker 9: I think you've got two schools that are so close
- 57:47Speaker 9: and are obviously the huge programs in the best football
- 57:50Speaker 9: state in the country. I think bringing them in and
- 57:52Speaker 9: playing them again at the end of the year and
- 57:54Speaker 9: having it mean an awful lot. I think those things
- 57:57Speaker 9: are really good. I think that's what we got to
- 57:59Speaker 9: make sure we don't lose that part of college football,
- 58:01Speaker 9: I think you have. In this day and age of
- 58:03Speaker 9: conference realignment and people shifting all over the place, there's
- 58:06Speaker 9: there's still something really cool about two teams that really
- 58:09Speaker 9: don't like each other playing a meaningful game at the
- 58:11Speaker 9: end of the season.
- 58:12Speaker 1: Coach, I hate Texas and I'm I'm gonna tell you,
- 58:15Speaker 1: I hate their guts. I hate everything about it. I
- 58:18Speaker 1: hate their color. Hate And I lived in Austin for
- 58:20Speaker 1: twelve years and love individual people from Austin and that
- 58:25Speaker 1: work at the University of Texas. But I'm from Arkansas
- 58:27Speaker 1: and I hate the University of Texas.
- 58:29Speaker 9: It kind of comes with the territory when you're in Arkansas. Yes, sir,
- 58:32Speaker 9: you don't have a tremendous, you know, affinity for Texas,
- 58:35Speaker 9: Oklahoma and to some degree, Texas A and M too.
- 58:37Speaker 1: I would imagine we don't mind Texas A and M.
- 58:40Speaker 1: I mean, we hate Texas. And my wife's from Oklahoma
- 58:43Speaker 1: and we've I've become very close with to Oklahoma's But
- 58:46Speaker 1: it's like, and I say it when we're on the
- 58:48Speaker 1: air all over Texas, including in Austin, where a show
- 58:51Speaker 1: does very well and that orange just makes me vomit. Now,
- 58:55Speaker 1: do you hate it more once you come into Texas
- 58:57Speaker 1: A and M or did you already go that's a
- 58:59Speaker 1: pretty ugly.
- 59:00Speaker 5: So it's really interesting.
- 59:01Speaker 9: So I was at Bowling Green for five years in
- 59:04Speaker 9: my life, and when I was there, their colors are
- 59:06Speaker 9: orange and brown, and our head coach was adamant that
- 59:10Speaker 9: any time we went out to clinics or meet people
- 59:13Speaker 9: or anything, that we should wear orange because it would
- 59:15Speaker 9: make us stand out. I think we loved and hated
- 59:18Speaker 9: the orange all at the same time when we were
- 59:21Speaker 9: together at Bowling Green, and so I have that in
- 59:23Speaker 9: my past, and then obviously you come here and yeah,
- 59:27Speaker 9: orange just doesn't exist in college station Texas, and so
- 59:30Speaker 9: it kind of turns up the heat on it a
- 59:32Speaker 9: little bit.
- 59:33Speaker 1: What's a rivalry game feel like in the locker room?
- 59:35Speaker 1: Because a lot of these kids, maybe they didn't grow
- 59:37Speaker 1: up with as an A and M super fan their
- 59:40Speaker 1: whole life hating Texas. But is it palpable, Like is
- 59:42Speaker 1: there an understanding once they get there they're supposed to
- 59:45Speaker 1: not like Texas or not like Oklahoma.
- 59:47Speaker 9: Yeah, you know, I really experienced it for the first
- 59:50Speaker 9: time in the last two years at Duke with the
- 59:51Speaker 9: Duke North Carolina game and before that, I probably would
- 59:55Speaker 9: have told you, you know, I don't know how different
- 59:57Speaker 9: they really are games or games, but through that Duke
- 1:00:01Speaker 9: North Carolina like it was different, Like that week was different.
- 1:00:05Speaker 9: The way that players responded acted, the feel in pregame
- 1:00:08Speaker 9: meetings meals all of that stuff. There's just a different
- 1:00:12Speaker 9: energy about the room. And then you know, you watch
- 1:00:15Speaker 9: the game unfold and everyone plays their best, you know,
- 1:00:19Speaker 9: across the board, and you just see a whole bunch
- 1:00:21Speaker 9: of kids making a whole bunch of plays, right, And.
- 1:00:24Speaker 5: Obviously that that rivalry centered.
- 1:00:26Speaker 9: Around basketball, but certainly kind of expands to every other
- 1:00:29Speaker 9: sport that gets played. And now you're going to take
- 1:00:31Speaker 9: that same type of hatred between schools in a rivalry
- 1:00:36Speaker 9: that's centered around football that hasn't been played in you know,
- 1:00:39Speaker 9: twelve thirteen years, bring it back Thanksgiving weekend, and then
- 1:00:44Speaker 9: you know, hopefully have two really highly ranked teams playing
- 1:00:46Speaker 9: each other.
- 1:00:46Speaker 5: And it'll be weird. It'll be something different, that's for sure.
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: Do you guys have MRI machines there on campus.
- 1:00:52Speaker 5: Yeah, we do.
- 1:00:53Speaker 9: We're actually fortunate in our university has them, and so
- 1:00:56Speaker 9: we're able to utilize what we have at the university
- 1:00:58Speaker 9: and you get our kids in on a drop of
- 1:01:01Speaker 9: a dime whenever we need to.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I got to get one tomorrow, but it took
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: like a week to get in. That's wonder if I
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: was going to school there. I got an ankle. As
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: your coach, you know, athlete, you know what it's like.
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: And so I get this ankle.
- 1:01:10Speaker 9: I'll tell you what after, you can put me on
- 1:01:12Speaker 9: your radio show like this. We'll as you come, use
- 1:01:15Speaker 9: ours whenever you need it.
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: The way there you go, and that's a long trip.
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: Coach Eddie has a question for.
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: You, Hey, coach, what do you know about the twelfth Man?
- 1:01:22Speaker 4: Because I went to school at Samuston State, right down
- 1:01:24Speaker 4: the road from it from College Station. And I was
- 1:01:26Speaker 4: there at College Station one night and a drunk guy
- 1:01:29Speaker 4: was telling me the story the legend of the twelfth Man.
- 1:01:32Speaker 4: Where back in the day this you know, the team
- 1:01:35Speaker 4: didn't have enough players to play, so they pulled a
- 1:01:37Speaker 4: guy out of the crowds and I'll.
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: Play and they played. They won the game. Is that
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: even true?
- 1:01:41Speaker 5: Yeah, no, that's that's the real story. Yeah it was.
- 1:01:43Speaker 9: It was back in the nineteen thirties and the team
- 1:01:46Speaker 9: had gotten riddled with injuries, and you know, someone from
- 1:01:49Speaker 9: the student body stepped up to volunteer and be ready,
- 1:01:52Speaker 9: and ever since that they stand for the entire game
- 1:01:56Speaker 9: at every football game, the entire student section, and it's
- 1:01:59Speaker 9: it's kind of homage to that man.
- 1:02:01Speaker 5: Being ready at all times.
- 1:02:03Speaker 9: And so now you know, the idea is that the
- 1:02:06Speaker 9: student section is the twelfth man for our football team
- 1:02:09Speaker 9: and they stand ready at all times to help in
- 1:02:11Speaker 9: whatever way they can. Now, in modern football, we have
- 1:02:14Speaker 9: one hundred and forty players on our roster, needing one
- 1:02:18Speaker 9: of the students to hop down out of the stand
- 1:02:20Speaker 9: for us. But now it's it's a really cool thing.
- 1:02:23Speaker 9: It's a huge piece of Texas A and M. It's
- 1:02:24Speaker 9: a huge piece of art history and what we stand for.
- 1:02:27Speaker 9: And if you haven't been to a game in Kyle
- 1:02:30Speaker 9: Field or got to see it firsthand, it really is unique.
- 1:02:33Speaker 5: It's really special.
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: Coach, we got to talk about this Arkansas series in Dallas.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: I don't like it. It does not feel I like
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: Jerry Jones liked the Cowboys. The stadiums, it's pretty, but
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: it does not feel unique or college football. Lee like,
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: what are we going to do to change this?
- 1:02:51Speaker 9: I think this is the last year, So I think
- 1:02:53Speaker 9: maybe you just saying it right there, we can say
- 1:02:55Speaker 9: that's the reason why it's changed.
- 1:02:56Speaker 5: I think this is.
- 1:02:57Speaker 9: I think we're in Fayetteville next year, and I think
- 1:02:59Speaker 9: we're back to playing on home campuses. And I was
- 1:03:03Speaker 9: actually during the COVID year, we weren't able to play
- 1:03:06Speaker 9: in in Cowboys Stadium and so they actually came to
- 1:03:08Speaker 9: Kyle Field that year, so.
- 1:03:10Speaker 5: I was part of one of those games. But now
- 1:03:12Speaker 5: I think it's interesting.
- 1:03:13Speaker 9: I think we've always we've always kind of joked as coaches,
- 1:03:16Speaker 9: like the reason why we're playing this game is because
- 1:03:18Speaker 9: no one could figure out who's going to tell Jerry
- 1:03:20Speaker 9: we're not playing there and kind of keep doing it
- 1:03:23Speaker 9: because that's just kind of how things go. But but no,
- 1:03:26Speaker 9: I think I think it's both ways. I think obviously
- 1:03:29Speaker 9: there's something about playing a college game on a college
- 1:03:31Speaker 9: campus in a college stadium.
- 1:03:33Speaker 5: Those environments are really.
- 1:03:34Speaker 9: Special for your whole community, not just for the football
- 1:03:37Speaker 9: team but just everybody who comes out to a college
- 1:03:40Speaker 9: town for a Saturday in the fall. But at the
- 1:03:43Speaker 9: same time, there's so many Texas kids involved in this game,
- 1:03:48Speaker 9: and so many of them either grew up loving or
- 1:03:50Speaker 9: hating the Cowboys because you have to do one or
- 1:03:52Speaker 9: the other.
- 1:03:52Speaker 5: You can't.
- 1:03:53Speaker 9: You can't just kind of be neutral in the Cowboys.
- 1:03:55Speaker 9: And so, you know, I do think there was always
- 1:03:57Speaker 9: it was a cool idea. There's a lot of excitement
- 1:03:59Speaker 9: when you play game in Cowboys Stadium. It's a great field,
- 1:04:02Speaker 9: it's a great venue, and it is it is a
- 1:04:04Speaker 9: little bit unique. It feels almost like one of those
- 1:04:07Speaker 9: conference championship games where you have the split stands and
- 1:04:11Speaker 9: every time there's a good play made, no matter who
- 1:04:13Speaker 9: makes it, you know, the crowd kind of erupts, and
- 1:04:15Speaker 9: so there is a little bit of unique cool part
- 1:04:17Speaker 9: of it. But getting back on college CAMPUSS soon, I
- 1:04:20Speaker 9: think we'll be good.
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: To Yeah, I just want to voice I don't want
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: to renew it. I don't want to renew it for
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: any reason whatsoever. Also, because you guys have just been
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: whooping Arkansas, I don't know it's a bad or it's
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: been a bad run.
- 1:04:29Speaker 5: So so when it comes up again, I'll put Jerry
- 1:04:33Speaker 5: in touch with you. Yeah, both guys.
- 1:04:35Speaker 9: You guys are both Arkansas guys, you're both big time people.
- 1:04:38Speaker 9: Will let you guys kind of get together and you
- 1:04:40Speaker 9: guys can figure out what the right thing to do is.
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: Don't need to figure it already, got it, already, got it.
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: I hate it. It's the worst. I was thinking, Coach,
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: you said, you made a little comment that a little bit,
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: I'm not supposed to like Texas A and M. And
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: I'm just thinking I have no issue with Texas A
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: and M. And maybe because I appreciate that.
- 1:04:55Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: Actually, and I was thinking about this. I think I
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: like Texas AM now because they hate Texas is how
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: it's your Yeah, it's your enemy's enemy is your friend.
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: And I think that's why I just had a therapy
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: breakthrough right now as to why I've always had like
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: this positive feeling about Texas A and M. And it's
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: because you guys also want to beat the crap out
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: of Texas. So it took you to get me there today.
- 1:05:16Speaker 5: Coach, there you go. I appreciate it. So we've closed
- 1:05:19Speaker 5: the loop.
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: In your life for a while.
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: We have fun.
- 1:05:22Speaker 5: It's a good therapy session.
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: Final three questions. Now, do you script any offensive plays
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: going into any game?
- 1:05:30Speaker 5: Do I personally know our offensive coordinator? Does?
- 1:05:34Speaker 9: I probably get if he scripts fifteen to twenty, I
- 1:05:37Speaker 9: probably get one to two. That are kind of my
- 1:05:39Speaker 9: preferenceer liking, and I get to review it. That's probably
- 1:05:42Speaker 9: the role that I play. But yeah, I think going
- 1:05:45Speaker 9: into games, you want to have a plan of how.
- 1:05:48Speaker 5: You wanted to go.
- 1:05:49Speaker 9: You want your kids to feel real comfortable with what
- 1:05:52Speaker 9: you know. The first part of the game is going
- 1:05:53Speaker 9: to go. Like, there's so many emotions that go into
- 1:05:56Speaker 9: the beginning of a college football game that the more
- 1:05:59Speaker 9: comfortable they are with what's going to happen, I think
- 1:06:01Speaker 9: the better they perform.
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: So what do we think the first few players will be?
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: Itsmara that Saturday.
- 1:06:08Speaker 5: Okay, here's what we're going to do. The first one
- 1:06:10Speaker 5: is going to be a double reverse flee flicker pass.
- 1:06:12Speaker 9: Let me text this radio running down the sideline, So
- 1:06:15Speaker 9: make sure you call Sam double let him know the
- 1:06:18Speaker 9: secret scoop that's played one in the game Saturday.
- 1:06:21Speaker 7: All right?
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: Got that? What about defensively? Like, and again this is
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: about any game specific, but there's no way to script
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: defensive plays because you don't know what the offense is
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: going to come out with. How do you get your
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: defensive players ready for what they're probably about to see
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: when you don't really know?
- 1:06:36Speaker 5: Yeah, probably a little bit more of a challenge.
- 1:06:38Speaker 9: I think, you know, the best thing you can do
- 1:06:41Speaker 9: is try to be a predictor of how an offense
- 1:06:44Speaker 9: is going to try to attack you or what they're
- 1:06:46Speaker 9: going to try to do. And you know, over my
- 1:06:48Speaker 9: I think I spent sixteen years as a defensive coordinator,
- 1:06:51Speaker 9: and you try.
- 1:06:53Speaker 5: To get it right more than you get it wrong.
- 1:06:54Speaker 9: But it's it's it's not easy to try to be,
- 1:06:57Speaker 9: you know, guessing what someone's going to do against you.
- 1:07:00Speaker 9: So you do the best you can. Get your kids
- 1:07:01Speaker 9: ready for everything, and then it's similar. You're just trying
- 1:07:03Speaker 9: to get them into comfortable, comfortable situations that they know
- 1:07:07Speaker 9: how to manage until you get a better feel or
- 1:07:10Speaker 9: beat on what exactly is going to happen as the
- 1:07:12Speaker 9: game plays out.
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: Coach, did you go to the George Strait concert?
- 1:07:16Speaker 5: I did.
- 1:07:17Speaker 9: I did my life and I went. We got a
- 1:07:18Speaker 9: we got a box. It was, uh, you know, my
- 1:07:21Speaker 9: daughter was with us. So my daughter was there for
- 1:07:23Speaker 9: Parker McCollum because he's a huge Parker McCollum fan, so
- 1:07:27Speaker 9: that was an added plus. And then we got to
- 1:07:29Speaker 9: see George that night, and what a scene that was
- 1:07:31Speaker 9: in Kyle.
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: Coach, if you ever any tickets anything. I'm your boy now,
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: like we're we're bros. Just let me know you.
- 1:07:37Speaker 4: Think coaches, you think coach has a hard time getting tickets.
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: No, but you never know if it's like his daughter
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: needs tickets to go to something and he's like, I
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: don't want to make the car. Like I'm here as
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: a resource to you. Coach, you're my second favorite team
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: playing this weekend.
- 1:07:50Speaker 9: Well, so I will take that, and I will certainly
- 1:07:52Speaker 9: take you up on that too, because you never you
- 1:07:54Speaker 9: can never have too many people willing to help you
- 1:07:56Speaker 9: get tickets to a venue. And so I'll flip it
- 1:07:59Speaker 9: around and say, you guys ever want to come down
- 1:08:01Speaker 9: to College Station for a game, I'm your guy. I
- 1:08:03Speaker 9: can't help you many other places, but I good help
- 1:08:05Speaker 9: with that here.
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: I appreciate that.
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: Coach.
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: Last question, as far as this season goes, what do
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: you tell your guys? The goal is obviously it's to
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: win the conference. But do you talk college football playoff?
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: Do you talk se championship, do you talk national championship?
- 1:08:18Speaker 5: No?
- 1:08:18Speaker 9: I honestly this is going to sound like such coach speak,
- 1:08:21Speaker 9: and I hate that I'm even saying this, but it's
- 1:08:22Speaker 9: really the truth, like you just talk about the process
- 1:08:25Speaker 9: of getting better every day, and it really is. And
- 1:08:28Speaker 9: you know, kids nowadays, between social media and fans and
- 1:08:32Speaker 9: message boards and all of the white noise that's really
- 1:08:35Speaker 9: out there, they can get focused on so many things
- 1:08:39Speaker 9: that aren't real and can drive them up and down
- 1:08:42Speaker 9: and every which way but sideways, and so you really
- 1:08:46Speaker 9: just try to give them something really palpable that they
- 1:08:48Speaker 9: can focus on.
- 1:08:49Speaker 3: Every day.
- 1:08:50Speaker 9: We talk about things we need to improve on daily.
- 1:08:52Speaker 9: We kind of make individual goals, team goals, and just
- 1:08:56Speaker 9: try to keep it really really narrow and try to
- 1:08:59Speaker 9: stay focused on it's right in front of your face,
- 1:09:01Speaker 9: because in this day and age, you start picking your
- 1:09:03Speaker 9: head up looking around and reading things or trying to
- 1:09:06Speaker 9: talk about big picture things like that, and you can
- 1:09:09Speaker 9: drive yourself crazy.
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: So I'm not going to ask this question. There's no
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: need to answer it. But what I'm not going to
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: ask as a favor is anything in IIL related look
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: at me gifting coach a non question. He thanks you, yeah,
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: because I know coach is the last thing you want
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: to talk about today with all that crap going on.
- 1:09:22Speaker 5: Oh my gosh.
- 1:09:23Speaker 9: Now I will say this though, because I do I
- 1:09:26Speaker 9: do want to get my feelings on the record on
- 1:09:28Speaker 9: this because I truly believe this and I was a
- 1:09:30Speaker 9: good thing for the players.
- 1:09:31Speaker 5: It really is.
- 1:09:32Speaker 9: I think when you talk about how much money and
- 1:09:35Speaker 9: how much revenue there is in major college football nowadays,
- 1:09:38Speaker 9: it certainly is right that the players are getting a
- 1:09:41Speaker 9: piece of it. Like a lot of my colleagues, it's
- 1:09:45Speaker 9: just the system, Like it's just the fact that there
- 1:09:47Speaker 9: isn't the system in place to manage it with any
- 1:09:51Speaker 9: type of ability whatsoever for the players or for the coaches.
- 1:09:56Speaker 9: It's just crazy, and that part of it is what
- 1:09:58Speaker 9: needs fixed as fast as humanly possible.
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: And even asked the question that's perfect a perfect answer.
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: As we conclude this interview, I like say, thanks for
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: your time. And we had drink on a little bit
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: ago from Missouri, and when they finished their interviews they go,
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: M I Z. And it scared me because I didn't
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: know what he was doing. And Sam coach Patman will go,
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: you know whoopig or everyone has what do you say
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: gig them at the end of every interview or do
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: you do one of those at all?
- 1:10:19Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:10:19Speaker 9: Yeah, So so I try not to be as corny
- 1:10:21Speaker 9: as coach fringlew. You do go who's a good who's
- 1:10:26Speaker 9: a really good friend of mine to So I hope
- 1:10:27Speaker 9: that gets on air in the years. Yeah, well but
- 1:10:30Speaker 9: but no, we're we're a thanks and give them, gig
- 1:10:32Speaker 9: them crowd. But I try not to overdo. I try
- 1:10:35Speaker 9: not to overdo those types of things. I think when
- 1:10:37Speaker 9: they're natural, to throw them out there, and when they're unnatural,
- 1:10:41Speaker 9: you know, you just kind of let them go.
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: Then I'll say, uh, this is how it'll play out.
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: I'll say, coach, love having you, good luck every rest
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: of the game except this weekend, and then you say
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: your thing, and let's see how it feels. All right,
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: here we go, coach. Yeah, I really appreciate the time.
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: I like A and M good luck every game except
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: this weekend.
- 1:10:56Speaker 5: Thanks and gig them.
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: Yeah so good good.
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: That was not good of coach.
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: All right, coach, I have to help everybody's healthy. Have
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: a great weekend, and hopefully I'll see you again soon.
- 1:11:05Speaker 5: Yeah, for sure, thanks for having me on.
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: Guys, we think Travis Kelsey sucks because he party with
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: Taylor Swift all year.
- 1:11:15Speaker 4: Yes, yes, it's got to be. What else he's getting older?
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: Yeah, to shape that age yeah, he isn't getting older, but.
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: I mean the distractions, man, the distract I.
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: Hate to jump on the bandwagon. It'd be like, I agree,
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: but I think about me. If I'm distracted doing eight things,
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: there's no way I can pour in the normal effort
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: into the main thing if I'm doing all the eight things.
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: And don't underestimate the power of love.
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: I will not.
- 1:11:42Speaker 4: When you're in love, man, like you don't even know
- 1:11:44Speaker 4: what's going around going on around you.
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: Travis Kelsey has face criticism for a slow start this
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: football season. Is the Kansas City Chiefs although they are
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: three and oh.
- 1:11:51Speaker 6: I gotta say they're three and oh, and he's probably
- 1:11:53Speaker 6: just saving himself for the postseason.
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: Oh that's it. I hear you, And I think when
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: you get older you do that. But I do think
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: you can travel all around Europe all off season and
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: you drink and your girlfriends, Taylor Swift, things are probably
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: treated differently.
- 1:12:08Speaker 4: He's been drinking for a while though, Yeah, but not
- 1:12:10Speaker 4: like this traveling and drinking.
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: I mean, you're not working out as hard.
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: Well, you know what.
- 1:12:14Speaker 4: We don't know what he's been doing before, Taylor, Like
- 1:12:16Speaker 4: we didn't there weren't cameras, but.
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: He wasn't all over Europe. He's got one hundred million
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: dollar podcasts. Now NFL analyst Rodney Harrison said Kelsey's performance
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: is affected by distractions from his off field commitments like
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: acting and podcasting. Chiefs colledback. Patrick Mahomes defended Kelsey. What
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: you should have think it's focused on winning.
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: Is he acting?
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: Yeah, he's in the Adam Sandler I think.
- 1:12:37Speaker 10: Commercials, Happy Go More too, commercials, commercials.
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: I think he's in another movie too that let's say
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: a serious I think you he's a host of a
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: game show. Oh wow, you date Taylor Swift, you get
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: a bunch of opportunities you don't get unless you date
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: Taylor Swift. I'm sure it's a great thing to ever
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: happen to him. Aside from the love like that, Travis
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: Kelsey wants to be famous, like he's extremely thirsty for fame.
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: But take that from somebody who also is. But I'm
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: not saying that Taylor Swift thing isn't love. It probably is.
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: I don't believe it's fake, but I'm saying that's the
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: reward you get for that, and that's what he is
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: reaping it because nobody really cared. What they cared about
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: is Patrick Mahomes' tight end, Travis Kelsey, who also is
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: really good, but it wasn't like he's at now he's
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: Taylor Sw's boyfriend, so they got a lot of opportunities
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: they canna get married probably. Wow, it's crazy. Out of
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: all the dudes she's dated, she's like the one that
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: you would never share.
- 1:13:28Speaker 5: I know.
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: Good for them though, but I do feel like if
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: something's different that has been consistent over the past amount
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: of years, which he's not hurt, which last year he
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: was hurt the Lions game Game one, he didn't even play,
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: but he's not hurt. But if something's different, that means
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: something's different. So what's been different. Well, he's dating Taylor Swift,
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: the most famous person in the world, and he's been
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: all over Europe on tour.
- 1:13:55Speaker 4: Good for him and the work, like, I mean, yeah,
- 1:13:56Speaker 4: let's not free. Oh that's a lot of work TV
- 1:13:59Speaker 4: shows hosting.
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: Yeah, Todd mcshade thinks Travis Kelsey is having a rough
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: off season because he's party with Taylor Swift at it
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: too on Riscilla. Yeah, yeah, it's so good. Yeah, it's funny, funny, Okay,
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: let's look to a couple of big games. Real quick
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: n CUAA preview Miami almost a twenty point favorite of
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: Vision Attack. They're gonna kill Himo, cares Ole miss gonna
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: kill Kentucky.
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: Who cares Old miss undefeated? Right, they're really goody killing people.
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: They really played anybody though.
- 1:14:25Speaker 4: Yeah, but so has a lot of other teams. But
- 1:14:27Speaker 4: they're not killing like I mean, they're covering every spread.
- 1:14:30Speaker 4: That's the only reason I know. Yeah, yeah, Old Missus
- 1:14:33Speaker 4: maybe some killing.
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: They're killing people, but they haven't played anybody yet.
- 1:14:37Speaker 4: Like when I look at the parlay of the weekend,
- 1:14:40Speaker 4: I always hit Old miss on there, I put Ole
- 1:14:43Speaker 4: miss on there, and they like just they cover this
- 1:14:45Speaker 4: man by so much.
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: That's a famous lost words. Everybody, do not bet on
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: All miss You just heard them saying since Kansas State,
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: Okloma State, Notre Dame in Louisville. That's I can't believe
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: Loibal is fifteen. Yeah, quietly huh uh huh. If you
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: would have asked, just asked, hey, is Louisbell ranked, I don't.
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: I don't think so. Texas a forty point favorite of
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: Misissippi State. That's wild and that's his forty point favorite.
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: I did watch Missippi State who they.
- 1:15:08Speaker 5: Played this week?
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: The quarterbacks out now, Yeah they're terrible. Ohio State is
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: a twenty four point favorite at Michigan State, Georgia and
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: Alabama Georgia two point favorite. Penn State nineteen point favorite
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: over Illinois. The hilarious thing is Coach Bilama.
- 1:15:21Speaker 10: He was like, white out what like like he didn't know, no,
- 1:15:26Speaker 10: like they're doing a whiteout.
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: He's like, I don't know, I don't care, I don't care.
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: What what does that do for me?
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:15:32Speaker 6: Exactly.
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: He was going to come on this week. I had
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: to cancel the I had a dog issue, but Uh,
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: coach Bilom was gonna come on. Sucks. I couldn't get
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: him on Utah eleven point favorite over Arizona. A Utah
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: is that Zach Wilson's little brother. I don't know who's
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: playing quarterback after uh Cam Cam Rising went down?
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: No clue?
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: Yeah Isaac Wilson. Yeah, I thought so played really well.
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: Zack Wilson's brother Zach will now with the Broncos, but
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: most famous from the Jets. Yes, I have a Zach
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: Wilson signed Jets helmet behind me.
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: Look at that He's.
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: Like, I don't you could sell that for help much?
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: And then Oregon is almost a twenty five point favorite
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: at U C l A. So do we believe in
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: Oregon again?
- 1:16:16Speaker 3: Yep?
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: I had a couple, had a couple little hiccups, but
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: didn't lose twenty five units on it? You have twenty
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: five or five units on it? Twenty five?
- 1:16:25Speaker 5: Ye?
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: Sorry, I got five units on it. Twenty five dollars, yeah,
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: getting unit dollars.
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: The units are confusing, man.
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: Yeah, let's look at the NFL Real Quick Falcons and Saints.
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: That's an interesting game.
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: That's a good game. I would have never thought that
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: would be a good game.
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: I never thought I would even care about it. That's
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: an interesting game. Who are you picking in that one?
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: I'm gonna go at the Saints.
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: I think the Saints are rolling, dude.
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: And even when they lost to the Eagles last week,
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: like the Eagles had to like pull one out of
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: their butthole for that one. Rams at Bears? The Rams
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: are they have a partial team?
- 1:16:57Speaker 5: Right?
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: They don't they have receivers?
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: They have a partial team. No, they don't have their
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: one or two and the I don't know, are the
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: Bears getting better.
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't either.
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: It's hard to watch. They're in Chicago, so they're two
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: and a half point favorite. Vikings of Packers. Packers. Is
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: Jordan Love coming back this week?
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: I think he's hopeful to Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: I didn't heard the latest.
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: Not sure, but it's trending.
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: Packers are two and a half point favorite over the
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: three and o Vikings. They are in Green Bay. That
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: tells me he loves playing. It tells me they think
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: Love is probably playing. Yeah, because they're not going to
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: do that with milk willis no Steelers. Two point favorites
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: are the Colts, Jets, and Broncos. The Jets over a
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: touchdown favorite.
- 1:17:35Speaker 3: It's good.
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: Oh, it sounds like a good game. Casey, let's go.
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: I'm ready.
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: Eagles and Bucks. Eagles favorite, Bengals at Panthers. I don't know.
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: Dalton coming back?
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: And don't I want the Bengals women and yeah, man,
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: Jags of Texans. Texas need that win. Jags need that win.
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: If the Jags lose, it's it's not quick match.
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: On four, they're done. Peterson may get fired. Yeah, Oh
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: that's tough. Commanders of Cardinals Patriots at forty nine Ers.
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: The Niners are still a ten point.
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: Favorite, even though they have no one.
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: They're playing seven man football.
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: Is Kittle still out?
- 1:18:12Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: I think so.
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: Browns and Raiders the game that nobody cares about. The
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: Raiders are point a half favorite. Chiefs at Chargers. Chargers
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: don't have a quarterback, right, don't know he's safety?
- 1:18:24Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: Oh yeah, he suspended a game for like being an idiot,
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: They breaking the rules.
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: What do you do?
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: He got suspended for like constant neglect of safety rules
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: or whatever. It was something like that. Art hits and yeah.
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: And then Bills at Ravens. I think that's a Monday
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: night game. That would be a good one.
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: That's good.
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: Yeah, that are good. Ravens kind of need that though,
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: still so they don't go one in three, But the
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: Bills probably.
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: You think the Bills are the best team in football
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: right now.
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: I'd still take the Chiefs because they're the Chiefs. But
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: if it were just if I didn't know anything about
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: the histories of any team, I'd probably picked the Bills.
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: Even that Bill's Cardinals game that was Week one, and
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: you're like, dang, the Cardinals are but the Bills were
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: just scoring now realized the Cardinals actually aren't that bad.
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: They're sneaky good.
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: Yeah, so that that's like an addition to the strength
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: to schedule for the Bills now where it was do
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: the Bills suck because the Cardinals are scoring so much?
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: But now Kyler's back and Harrison's actually really good and
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: all right cool. I think that's it. Thank you everybody,
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: Thanks to the coaches for coming on today. Any eddie.
- 1:19:19Speaker 4: I got a buddy of mine asked me like, hey,
- 1:19:21Speaker 4: do you grill out when the Cowboys play?
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: And I said no because I don't.
- 1:19:24Speaker 4: I don't want to be doing so, like what if
- 1:19:26Speaker 4: like the meat still needs to be done and the
- 1:19:27Speaker 4: games starting out like that?
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: So we just ordered pizza.
- 1:19:30Speaker 4: So I wanted to ask you guys, like, what do
- 1:19:31Speaker 4: you what's your ideal game day to watch your team?
- 1:19:33Speaker 2: Like no one at the house?
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: Oh, I hate silence. I don't want anybody around me.
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: I don't want to be text me. No, I don't
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: want to be around me. I pace. I do push
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: ups during commercials?
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: Oh is that just for fitness or because.
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: I'm going to have to do something to remove the
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: nervous energy. So what I will do is add fitness
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: to that and I'll do push ups. I'm cool. I
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: used to keep weights and do curls and shoulder lifts. Dang, dude, dude,
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: I just have it. It's a nightmare.
- 1:19:59Speaker 2: By the end of the game, it was jacked.
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: There's a good pump. Yeah, there's a good pump. That's
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: what I do. And I usually eat before unless it's
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: a ten o'clock game, and then I'll probably wait till after.
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: That's my day. No one, nobody. I want anybody around.
- 1:20:15Speaker 4: No, I don't want anyone. I was like, hey, do
- 1:20:16Speaker 4: you want somebody to come over for the Cowboys? We
- 1:20:17Speaker 4: can invite something.
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: No, my wife will win in the room. No, I'm
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: by myself.
- 1:20:20Speaker 2: She doesn't watch the games with you.
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: She knows better. What about Oklahoma? You watch games with
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: there sometimes, but she knows better that it will wreck
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: my mood and I will not be good. So she
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: just knows better for her, Like, why does she want
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: to be around me? If I'm a nightmare and she
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: knows it for winning that, I'm still like, I bet
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: we're gonna blow this. So it's never positive because when
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: it's good, I'm still like, I bet it's gonna be bad.
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: And what's bad. It's just bad. That's the history of
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: being a Razorback fan. I feel like a Jets fans
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: what that feels like. I just always the next play
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: is the next play is like the stick. That's like
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: the stick when you that Marble's game where they all fall. Yeah,
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: sticks out the next the next stick that's pulled. Yeah,
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: that's my day. Kevin, What what were you saying? Yeah,
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: I'm just excited for the Alabama Georgia game.
- 1:21:03Speaker 8: I feel like it's given a little bit of a
- 1:21:04Speaker 8: dud this year in USC in Michigan was pretty good
- 1:21:07Speaker 8: last weekend. But I'm excited that an early game like that,
- 1:21:09Speaker 8: early in the season that is gonna be good.
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: It's weird that Saban's not involved in it because that's
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: such a Saban Kirby Smart type situation. And de Boz
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: really hasn't done anything yet. He hasn't really had He's
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: only had three games, so it's not like he's had
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: the ability to have a signature win of any kind yet.
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: But this could be that for him, right for sure?
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: You mean coach Debor Yeah, I'm thinking a mite, Yes,
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: thank you. I have a little bit of brain free
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: brain brain fog this morning.
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: What what's his first name?
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: You tell me.
- 1:21:41Speaker 2: Think? Oh Kaylin Kaylen, Klen DeVore, hell of a coach.
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I call him a bo's vois h read.
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: I'm catching up with my fantasy here.
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: So I got two guys that are questionable, so I'm
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: gonna make sure that take them out.
- 1:21:56Speaker 2: There you go.
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: Oh my god, So Reid is up scoring a bunch
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: of points in law to me, like by nine points
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: last week. But he had a player that was out
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: and I went and looked at his bench to see
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: if he would have put anybody and he still want
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: to have lost.
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: Oh okay, but still I got to keep it.
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: Yeah, bad move. Come on, man, it's just a bad
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: fantasy player. Bad fantasy player.
- 1:22:13Speaker 6: Yes, so yeah, uh yeah, I gotta win this game
- 1:22:16Speaker 6: this weekend against the Broncos. So we go play Sam
- 1:22:19Speaker 6: Darnold in London next week three and one, three in
- 1:22:23Speaker 6: a row, and uh yeah, playoff baseball around the corner.
- 1:22:26Speaker 6: Got my Yankee Jersey on number one seed as of
- 1:22:29Speaker 6: this recording. Let's go, this is our gotta keep on soda. Yeah,
- 1:22:33Speaker 6: but we don't want a game against the Orioles.
- 1:22:35Speaker 2: Uh not yet, not this series. But I still wrap,
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: I still wrap. I see how it is that.
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: Guys next week have fun about that parlay. I feel
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: pretty good about it.
