- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Hey everyone, welcome to the Almost Famous podcast. Today, Ben
- 0:08Speaker 2: and I are just gonna chat with you guys about
- 0:12Speaker 2: Chris Harrison and Lauren Zima's wedding. It was a great weekend.
- 0:17Speaker 2: I just like, oh, I love our little bachelor family reunions.
- 0:21Speaker 2: It really fills my soul.
- 0:23Speaker 3: It's a great weekend, tons of fun, so many details
- 0:27Speaker 3: to talk about.
- 0:28Speaker 4: Let's jump into it now.
- 0:30Speaker 3: Ashley, obviously, you and I seem to be I guess
- 0:34Speaker 3: the Bachelor world. We should say, are really into the
- 0:37Speaker 3: Westerns themed weddings at this.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Yeah, apparently, and it really works for you. And I
- 0:43Speaker 2: am the person who both times has been like, wait,
- 0:46Speaker 2: it's a themed wedding and then you're like, yes, Ashley,
- 0:49Speaker 2: You're supposed to wear like cowboy boots and I'm like, oh, well,
- 0:54Speaker 2: I don't have those right now, and I just I'm
- 0:57Speaker 2: a mess when it comes to this theme. And then
- 0:59Speaker 2: Ben shows up looking so dashing every single time, and
- 1:03Speaker 2: you like carry yourself with a certain confidence when you
- 1:06Speaker 2: have a.
- 1:09Speaker 4: Yes the weddings.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Oh yeah, well, actually, Jessica said, the funniest thing for
- 1:14Speaker 2: me it is definitely one of those not suitable for
- 1:16Speaker 2: work comments. But I so so wish that I could
- 1:19Speaker 2: caption my Instagram tonight, which yes, I am putting out
- 1:23Speaker 2: another Ben Higgins dancing at a wedding Instagram rail because
- 1:26Speaker 2: he serves the content at these weddings, and I'm like, Ben,
- 1:31Speaker 2: we have a few, we have a few more weddings
- 1:32Speaker 2: on the agenda for the next year, and I'm like,
- 1:35Speaker 2: I'm going to make this the fame.
- 1:37Speaker 4: I really like the tradition.
- 1:38Speaker 3: I really enjoy weddings because it feels like a party.
- 1:44Speaker 4: Like I'm not a go outer. I don't like the clubs.
- 1:46Speaker 4: I don't like the bars.
- 1:47Speaker 3: I never really have, and I think the reasoning is
- 1:51Speaker 3: because they, especially at this point in my life, they
- 1:55Speaker 3: feel very pointless, Like I don't know what I'm doing there.
- 1:57Speaker 3: I'm either going to drink way too much, which I
- 2:00Speaker 3: don't enjoy doing.
- 2:02Speaker 2: But you sometimes do it at weddings. I'm not sure
- 2:04Speaker 2: whether you do or not, but like you definitely act
- 2:07Speaker 2: like that on the dance floor. Yeah, when you've got
- 2:09Speaker 2: your like tongue hanging out and your hips thrusting.
- 2:11Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a good explanation of me.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Actually, that was so dirty.
- 2:18Speaker 3: But my point was, yeah, so I don't like to
- 2:20Speaker 3: drink too much. I don't drink too much at weddings.
- 2:22Speaker 3: In fact, Jessica's still to this day would say and
- 2:25Speaker 3: five years a knowing me, she's never seen me intoxicated.
- 2:28Speaker 2: I've not seen Jared. It's so weird.
- 2:30Speaker 3: But so my point was to this being weddings are
- 2:34Speaker 3: different for me though, because there is something to celebrate,
- 2:37Speaker 3: like there's a point to being there, and so I
- 2:40Speaker 3: have a really good time being around people, like having
- 2:43Speaker 3: a drink in hand, dancing, singing, talking, like because there
- 2:48Speaker 3: is a reason for being there. And if I were
- 2:52Speaker 3: to go out to the bars, the really only reasons
- 2:53Speaker 3: to go to the bars are to maybe spend some
- 2:55Speaker 3: time with friends, which is it makes sense, but really
- 2:58Speaker 3: like it's too find a love interest, or to drink
- 3:02Speaker 3: too much or to stay up too late. None of
- 3:04Speaker 3: those three things I enjoy, need or want in my life.
- 3:09Speaker 4: But weddings are different, and they're a big, big party.
- 3:12Speaker 3: So Ashley, I think everybody listening wants to hear some
- 3:17Speaker 3: of the details of this wedding.
- 3:18Speaker 4: They want to hear who was all there.
- 3:19Speaker 3: They can obviously see it now on social media, I'll
- 3:24Speaker 3: kick it off with kind of our agenda for the weekend. Yes,
- 3:26Speaker 3: it was a Western themed wedding because we were in
- 3:30Speaker 3: Austin Friday night.
- 3:33Speaker 4: Chris and Lauren did an incredible thing for us.
- 3:36Speaker 3: We arrived into Austin, everybody kind of got there around
- 3:38Speaker 3: the same time, and then they invited us over to
- 3:40Speaker 3: their house about I would say twenty of us the
- 3:43Speaker 3: bachelor crew for cocktails, incredible wine and or d'Ors for
- 3:51Speaker 3: a few hours just to be together. And I don't
- 3:55Speaker 3: know if you witnessed this, Ashley or thought about it
- 3:57Speaker 3: this way. They didn't need to do that, like that
- 3:59Speaker 3: wasn't something I think they wanted to write.
- 4:01Speaker 4: But then again, they had a lot of friends in town.
- 4:03Speaker 4: They had a lot of.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Groups, so so nice, and they actually had three events
- 4:07Speaker 2: that night, and I suspected that perhaps they were going
- 4:10Speaker 2: to do that. They had something with her sorority sisters
- 4:13Speaker 2: and then something with her mom and her friends, but
- 4:16Speaker 2: first was the bachelor party at their house, and it
- 4:20Speaker 2: was just so incredibly nice of them to have us
- 4:22Speaker 2: over their house. I was really looking forward to this
- 4:24Speaker 2: element because you know, both you and I are kind
- 4:26Speaker 2: of like introverted extroverts. Or were extroverted introverts, and it's
- 4:31Speaker 2: nice to have like a calm place where we could
- 4:35Speaker 2: be really comfortable with the people that we know. And
- 4:38Speaker 2: it was just that it was so it's just like
- 4:42Speaker 2: the greatest one we all get together, because I just
- 4:44Speaker 2: feel so at home with everyone.
- 4:47Speaker 3: I'm with you, and I was looking forward to this too.
- 4:50Speaker 3: I was a little nervous about it. I think there's
- 4:52Speaker 3: some dynamics.
- 4:54Speaker 2: You thought there was going to be some drama.
- 4:56Speaker 3: It was like, really kept at Bay, there's gonna be
- 4:58Speaker 3: some drama. We're going to talk about the drama, the
- 5:00Speaker 3: potential drama, but let's first talk about who was all there.
- 5:03Speaker 4: Ashley. Let's start.
- 5:04Speaker 3: There was Ashley and Jared, myself and Jessica, Chris and
- 5:08Speaker 3: Lauren Wells and Sarah, Bob Guinea and Canyon his wife.
- 5:13Speaker 3: We also had Ari and Lauren Lyondyke, Taysha and her boyfriend, Luke.
- 5:20Speaker 4: Colton and Jordan were there.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Becca and Hayley were there, Jojo Fletcher, Caitlin Bristow, Jason Tartick,
- 5:27Speaker 3: which we'll talk about later. That dynamic obviously one that
- 5:30Speaker 3: was full of intrigue and interest. For myself, at least,
- 5:34Speaker 3: I don't know for anybody else.
- 5:36Speaker 2: We were all I'm really curious to see what would happened.
- 5:40Speaker 4: Tanner and Jade. Trista Sutter was also there, whom I
- 5:47Speaker 4: forgetting and Sean.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Kathern didn't come to the Friday Night thing.
- 5:50Speaker 3: But Seawan and Catherine at the wedding, but they did
- 5:52Speaker 3: not come to the Friday night thing. Was there anybody
- 5:54Speaker 3: else that I'm missing that was there?
- 5:57Speaker 2: Yeah, Kelly Travis and her husband Hunterry.
- 6:00Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah, great friend.
- 6:02Speaker 2: One Populo season. Okay, so yeah, should we just jump
- 6:06Speaker 2: into the whole Caitlin and Jason interaction.
- 6:09Speaker 4: Yeah, I think so.
- 6:09Speaker 3: I mean, I think this is one there's a lot
- 6:12Speaker 3: of build up, you know, behind the scenes. I can't
- 6:15Speaker 3: say that anybody fully knew the dynamics.
- 6:18Speaker 4: Of their relationship.
- 6:18Speaker 3: We all know though that anytime you see an X,
- 6:23Speaker 3: even if.
- 6:23Speaker 4: The breakup is mutual and amicable and.
- 6:28Speaker 3: Very sweet and nice, the the dynamics can be awkward,
- 6:34Speaker 3: right they are because you've broken up for a reason,
- 6:38Speaker 3: Like you haven't broken up because you still like each
- 6:40Speaker 3: other so much. You've broken up because at some point
- 6:42Speaker 3: you're like, hey, this isn't working, We're not getting along.
- 6:45Speaker 4: We need to end it.
- 6:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I was wondering whether or not they were seeing
- 6:48Speaker 2: each other sharing the dogs in Nashville. But I'll let Caitlyn,
- 6:52Speaker 2: you know, on her podcast explain their situation because I
- 6:55Speaker 2: don't want to overstep, but I will say this, it
- 6:58Speaker 2: had been a while since she's seen him, and she
- 7:01Speaker 2: Jade and Trista and I were planning on getting a
- 7:04Speaker 2: drink before going over to their house on Friday, and
- 7:07Speaker 2: Caitlyn was a little bit late getting down there, so
- 7:09Speaker 2: Jade and I were we were sitting down at like
- 7:11Speaker 2: a little table by the bar, and all of a sudden,
- 7:14Speaker 2: who walks up and grabs a drink at the bar? Jason.
- 7:17Speaker 2: So then we're like, oh my god, what do we do?
- 7:19Speaker 2: What do we do? She's like she literally had just
- 7:20Speaker 2: texted us and she's like on her way down. So
- 7:24Speaker 2: we did our best. We intercepted her, and we walked
- 7:27Speaker 2: her out to like the outdoor sitting area and we
- 7:31Speaker 2: found like a little empty spot in the in the corner.
- 7:34Speaker 2: But Jason had when he made I con back with Jade,
- 7:37Speaker 2: was like you could just tell he was like, Oh gosh,
- 7:40Speaker 2: I got there's somebody got There's definitely she's definitely coming down,
- 7:44Speaker 2: and then we were sitting there in the corner and
- 7:46Speaker 2: she was like, oh my god, this is so awkward.
- 7:48Speaker 2: What do I do? So actually he ended up texting
- 7:51Speaker 2: her basically was like I saw you, like, do you
- 7:54Speaker 2: want to say do you want to like say hi?
- 7:57Speaker 4: Yeah? And which is great?
- 7:59Speaker 2: Yeah, which is great. And then once they said hi guys.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Not to make you like, sorry to disappoint for those
- 8:06Speaker 2: who want drama, but they were like so totally normal
- 8:09Speaker 2: all weekend long once the initial high was done.
- 8:13Speaker 3: In fact, they were kind of I think, you know,
- 8:15Speaker 3: it'd be it's interesting going to a wedding alone, and
- 8:18Speaker 3: I think when you go to a wedding alone, there's
- 8:20Speaker 3: a lot of couples there and sometimes you.
- 8:22Speaker 4: Wonder how you're going to kind of fit in.
- 8:25Speaker 3: And I would say the two of them were around
- 8:28Speaker 3: each other a lot, got along really good. I was
- 8:31Speaker 3: just really proud of them, like proud in the sense of, hey,
- 8:34Speaker 3: I can learn from them in this moment. I don't
- 8:36Speaker 3: know if I would have had that ability or in
- 8:39Speaker 3: my past with an ex to do that. And I
- 8:42Speaker 3: think I was just like admiring how well they navigated
- 8:46Speaker 3: that everybody there knew they were once together. Everybody knew
- 8:50Speaker 3: they've now broken up, and they didn't let it be
- 8:53Speaker 3: a thing.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Yeah, you could tell there was a really good, just
- 8:57Speaker 2: foundation of friendship there because they did. Chew used to
- 9:00Speaker 2: hang out together at certain points, like even on Friday
- 9:03Speaker 2: night when we went to dinner, they like hung out
- 9:06Speaker 2: the other side of the table. They took ubers with us.
- 9:10Speaker 2: It wasn't as it, It was not like at all anything.
- 9:15Speaker 2: It looked like people who really enjoyed each other's company
- 9:17Speaker 2: for so many years.
- 9:18Speaker 3: Were you at all at any point, Ashley hoping to
- 9:21Speaker 3: witness a rekindling other flame?
- 9:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I think we all did, because they were like
- 9:25Speaker 2: so friendly. They were like, well, if they're so friendly,
- 9:28Speaker 2: then like maybe they should just maybe, you know, maybe
- 9:33Speaker 2: just tonight fun, you know, fun for all of us
- 9:37Speaker 2: at least.
- 9:38Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:39Speaker 3: I couldn't tell if I was in like wanting it
- 9:41Speaker 3: or not. I didn't know what was healthy and what
- 9:44Speaker 3: was not. I don't know enough details to have.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Probably healthy not to and they didn't.
- 9:59Speaker 3: It was really great, really proud of them again. I
- 10:01Speaker 3: learned a lot from them in terms of everybody else.
- 10:05Speaker 3: It was just good to see everybody else. It was
- 10:06Speaker 3: great to see Jojo I.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Love Jojo so much, Like I haven't seen her for
- 10:10Speaker 2: three years, but how is it that when I see her,
- 10:13Speaker 2: I feel like yesterday and I just like want to
- 10:15Speaker 2: hang out with her so much much more. She's such
- 10:16Speaker 2: an addictive personality, Like I'm got a personality that you
- 10:19Speaker 2: want to be around.
- 10:20Speaker 4: She really is.
- 10:21Speaker 3: And I had told Jess because before the weekend kind
- 10:24Speaker 3: of gave her a rundown to everybody, uh, And you know,
- 10:27Speaker 3: she was like, should it be weird between Jojo and I?
- 10:30Speaker 3: Because somebody had asked her one of her clients had
- 10:33Speaker 3: asked her, are you nervous to go to this wedding?
- 10:36Speaker 3: Like is it going to be awkward? And I was
- 10:37Speaker 3: like no, I was like, it's going to be opposite
- 10:41Speaker 3: of awkward. There's nothing awkward to it. We're all in
- 10:44Speaker 3: a really good place. And JoJo's the best, Like she
- 10:47Speaker 3: is incredible. And Jess and Jojo got along so well,
- 10:51Speaker 3: they really did.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Like I looked over and I saw the two of
- 10:54Speaker 2: them hanging out, just chatting the two of them multiple times.
- 10:57Speaker 2: Was really, it's really nice.
- 10:58Speaker 3: It was never even an that was never or even
- 11:00Speaker 3: a thought on my mind that that could be. Obviously,
- 11:03Speaker 3: then she knew a lot of the others from kind
- 11:05Speaker 3: of past weddings or past events, so the group was incredible.
- 11:11Speaker 4: We did a Friday night at Chris and Laurence. It
- 11:13Speaker 4: was just a good catch up.
- 11:14Speaker 3: If anything else, it was mostly just meant to say
- 11:17Speaker 3: hey to everybody, to show who was all there and
- 11:21Speaker 3: got to meet, you know, obviously Tasha's boyfriend Luke for
- 11:25Speaker 3: the first time and that was great. And then Saturday
- 11:29Speaker 3: night or Friday night, I guess, we went to dinner
- 11:31Speaker 3: mostly all together, kind of in two separate groups, the
- 11:34Speaker 3: girls and the guys. I got sid by Jared and
- 11:35Speaker 3: Tanner and talked football the whole night, while the other
- 11:38Speaker 3: side of the table just had a blast. I mean,
- 11:41Speaker 3: the stories coming from that side of the table are
- 11:43Speaker 3: a wild What they were talking about. I don't even
- 11:46Speaker 3: think I could mention on the podcast, but you know,
- 11:48Speaker 3: it was the Bob Guineas, and it was Wells, and
- 11:50Speaker 3: it was Jason, and they are just all really funny
- 11:55Speaker 3: people who can make each other laugh and make anybody
- 11:58Speaker 3: laugh and any given time.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Bachelor Bob is just amazing. And I still refer to
- 12:03Speaker 2: him as Bachelor Bob because that's what I thought of
- 12:06Speaker 2: him as in high school. He is just another person.
- 12:10Speaker 2: He like you just want to listen to him talk
- 12:12Speaker 2: and be around him. He's so He's always just in
- 12:15Speaker 2: the most upbeat mood and just like seeing his face
- 12:17Speaker 2: kind of makes me laugh. He's obviously an attractive man,
- 12:20Speaker 2: but like there's something about him just makes me like laugh.
- 12:22Speaker 3: He is one of those people that their personalities make
- 12:27Speaker 3: you want to see them as often as possible. And
- 12:30Speaker 3: I think he likes being called bachelor Bob. I think
- 12:32Speaker 3: he finds it very fun to still be considered bachelor Bob.
- 12:36Speaker 3: I think his wife likes for him to be called
- 12:38Speaker 3: bachelor Bob because she gives him such a hard time
- 12:41Speaker 3: in the most cute and like loving way.
- 12:43Speaker 4: That I think.
- 12:45Speaker 3: Refer to hering is that I think at this point
- 12:47Speaker 3: his life makes him very like smile, really big he is.
- 12:51Speaker 3: I didn't watch his season. I need to go back
- 12:53Speaker 3: and see if I can ever find it. I would
- 12:55Speaker 3: say from the people I'd met, he and Andrew Firestone
- 12:58Speaker 3: would have to be two of the best of There's
- 13:01Speaker 3: many great people who have been the Bachelor and bachelorette,
- 13:04Speaker 3: but like two of the best bachelors of all time,
- 13:06Speaker 3: Like I think we have to say that because they
- 13:08Speaker 3: just are great people.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Well, Chris is really close to Andrew Firestone, and I
- 13:13Speaker 2: think he was at their Napa wedding. He wasn't able
- 13:17Speaker 2: to come to this for some reason.
- 13:18Speaker 3: He had a big family event that he couldn't get
- 13:21Speaker 3: out of, and so he had I had message with
- 13:23Speaker 3: him because he's one of those characters also. So the
- 13:26Speaker 3: girls went and had dinner. Jessica went with the girls,
- 13:28Speaker 3: which I was really excited.
- 13:29Speaker 2: About, me jojo Becca, Haley, Caitlin, Trista, Lauren, and Jade.
- 13:37Speaker 2: And it was yeah, so great, such a girl's thing.
- 13:40Speaker 2: And you know, we were not telling wild stories, but
- 13:43Speaker 2: we're talking about the boys, and we're talking about kids too.
- 13:48Speaker 3: That's gracious talking about kids talking about the boys.
- 13:52Speaker 4: And then we met up, went to bed.
- 13:53Speaker 3: That night, Jessica and I stayed up and had drinks
- 13:55Speaker 3: with Wells and Sarah till about one thirty in the morning,
- 13:57Speaker 3: which has to.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Be a serious chance because the two event. Well, jess
- 14:02Speaker 2: was falling asley with the dinner table.
- 14:05Speaker 3: She is not a late night per person, as I've
- 14:08Speaker 3: fully explained. But we stayed up till one thirty because
- 14:13Speaker 3: Sarah and Wells were telling great stories.
- 14:16Speaker 4: The next day we had the wedding.
- 14:19Speaker 3: The wedding was an event in Austin, Texas at a
- 14:23Speaker 3: place called the Ranch that has like longhorns and donkeys,
- 14:28Speaker 3: and then it's just this beautiful outdoor setting, kind of
- 14:31Speaker 3: this amazing patio. It was, and I said it during
- 14:36Speaker 3: the speech. At one point it hit me Ashley like
- 14:39Speaker 3: it was a very sacred moment because both of these
- 14:42Speaker 3: people have come together through thick and thin already. They've
- 14:46Speaker 3: stayed by each other's side. They found each other in
- 14:50Speaker 3: a fairly unexpected way. There's obviously an age difference that
- 14:55Speaker 3: everybody's aware of, and so nobody would have necessarily like
- 14:58Speaker 3: put those two together. They've been married before, they have
- 15:02Speaker 3: just a history, you know, of relationship in life and
- 15:07Speaker 3: being around them, not just this weekend, but many weekends before.
- 15:13Speaker 3: They are deeply in love with each other, like deeply
- 15:17Speaker 3: in like with each other. They just are an incredible
- 15:21Speaker 3: couple who I believe do bring out the best in
- 15:24Speaker 3: each other.
- 15:25Speaker 2: Yeah, for us, it's cool because we knew both of
- 15:28Speaker 2: them individually before they got together, and it was just
- 15:31Speaker 2: like one of those moments where it's like, oh my god,
- 15:33Speaker 2: you person that I really like are you were gonna
- 15:37Speaker 2: you're dating the person that I really like that it's
- 15:40Speaker 2: just it's a love those moments and they yeah, they're
- 15:43Speaker 2: just so they're like they are so compatible, but they
- 15:51Speaker 2: also have like a totally they have different personalities, Like
- 15:54Speaker 2: it's one of those like opposite track but also the
- 15:56Speaker 2: same at the same time. You know.
- 15:59Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I think too.
- 16:03Speaker 3: Actually, something to mention is during Lauren's valves, she made
- 16:08Speaker 3: it a point to talk about how they both kind
- 16:10Speaker 3: of run their own race and yet they come together
- 16:12Speaker 3: to support each other. And I think the two of
- 16:15Speaker 3: them really needed that. They needed to be individuals and
- 16:18Speaker 3: to pursue their own passions and their own dreams. But
- 16:21Speaker 3: you know, it benefits them to have that partner that
- 16:23Speaker 3: stands beside them through those passions and dreams.
- 16:26Speaker 4: I think it would.
- 16:27Speaker 3: You know, it's not always easy in life to find
- 16:29Speaker 3: somebody who is not really codependent on their partner, completely codependent,
- 16:33Speaker 3: and the two of them could not have that.
- 16:35Speaker 4: They did not want that.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Thanks for articulating that way better than I. And she
- 16:40Speaker 2: also said that she never believed in soulmates until.
- 16:44Speaker 3: She gave the greatest explanation for that. On the definition
- 16:47Speaker 3: of soulmates and what that means.
- 16:50Speaker 2: She like loads of the definitions like does it fit that? Ees?
- 16:53Speaker 2: Does it fit that? Ees? It is really cute.
- 16:55Speaker 4: Yeah, you know.
- 16:56Speaker 3: I think when it comes out with Chris's valves, then
- 16:58Speaker 3: the part that meant so much to him and has
- 17:01Speaker 3: always meant so much to him his friends and family,
- 17:03Speaker 3: and I think he groups those into one big group.
- 17:06Speaker 3: But most of his vows focused around the idea that
- 17:09Speaker 3: Lauren has entered into life with Chris and has loved
- 17:13Speaker 3: his friends and his family and his kids as much
- 17:17Speaker 3: as he does. And I think that means so much.
- 17:19Speaker 2: He said that as much as I do, and I.
- 17:22Speaker 3: Think that's really a powerful statement. Chris, I don't think
- 17:26Speaker 3: ever imagine getting married again. I don't think he necessarily
- 17:28Speaker 3: saw the reason to get married again, but I do
- 17:32Speaker 3: think it took somebody, specifically like Lauren, who has been
- 17:40Speaker 3: been there with his kids and stood beside him with
- 17:42Speaker 3: his family and friends for him to say, yes, this
- 17:45Speaker 3: is something I want to do with you his vows.
- 17:50Speaker 3: His vows were obviously beautiful. I got the Chris host
- 17:53Speaker 3: voice back. I haven't heard that voice in the long missed.
- 17:56Speaker 2: The Chris host voice which did appear throughout the night,
- 18:00Speaker 2: so it didn't appear, of course throughout some parts of
- 18:03Speaker 2: the vowels where he did to get choked up, and
- 18:06Speaker 2: so like I knew I wasn't gonna be able to
- 18:08Speaker 2: get through the husson. He like had to take a pause,
- 18:11Speaker 2: get that lump out of his throat. It's really cute.
- 18:15Speaker 3: It's not often you see Chris get rattled. So for
- 18:30Speaker 3: us there, I think it was the purest form of
- 18:35Speaker 3: Chris that a lot of us know and love. But
- 18:38Speaker 3: it was a Chris that was just being there besides somebody.
- 18:42Speaker 3: He was admitting that he loves them and committing the
- 18:47Speaker 3: rest of his life to them. And so then the
- 18:49Speaker 3: party starts, the party that was the wedding. The wedding
- 18:52Speaker 3: was a surprise. Now I want to let everybody know
- 18:54Speaker 3: that the wedding was not expected by anybody going.
- 18:57Speaker 2: The actual ceremony.
- 18:59Speaker 3: Hetty, Yeah, we thought we were just going to a party,
- 19:02Speaker 3: a celebration, a reception, just to celebrate their love. And
- 19:07Speaker 3: yet they gave us all the gift and hopefully themselves
- 19:11Speaker 3: the gift of being able to then do their vows
- 19:14Speaker 3: and finalize their marriage in front of all of us,
- 19:18Speaker 3: which yes, I was so excited about.
- 19:20Speaker 2: I was so excited. I I was like, I don't
- 19:23Speaker 2: know how I'm gonna feel about going to a wedding
- 19:25Speaker 2: brother it's just a party, you know, because like I
- 19:27Speaker 2: love the ceremony. The ceremony is always like my favorite part.
- 19:30Speaker 2: And I got a glimmer or that maybe we're going
- 19:33Speaker 2: to get something when I asked them the day before
- 19:36Speaker 2: if it was official, whether they had signed the paperwork,
- 19:39Speaker 2: and then I think Lauren said no, we're going to
- 19:41Speaker 2: sign the paperwork tomorrow. And I was like, hmm, but
- 19:45Speaker 2: why and okay, and then you show up and they
- 19:48Speaker 2: have the big arch and we're like, oh, okay. And
- 19:51Speaker 2: then we were told to promptly be there at five
- 19:54Speaker 2: point thirty as if there was something we miss if
- 19:56Speaker 2: we showed up a little late. So there are signs,
- 19:58Speaker 2: and I was really excited to hear that they were
- 20:00Speaker 2: actually going to go through the whole thing. I don't
- 20:02Speaker 2: know if you know the answer to this. Did they
- 20:04Speaker 2: exchange like traditional vowels or also personal written vows during
- 20:09Speaker 2: their NAPA ceremony which is about two or few weeks ago.
- 20:12Speaker 3: I know nothing about the NAPA ceremony, so I don't know,
- 20:15Speaker 3: but I do know. They had a ceremony in Napa
- 20:17Speaker 3: with close friends and family, like mostly just their families
- 20:21Speaker 3: were there with him in Napa to kind of celebrate.
- 20:24Speaker 3: I imagine they did exchange more traditional vows there. It would
- 20:28Speaker 3: be really hard to do credit twice, Yeah, tore at
- 20:31Speaker 3: it twice, but they wanted to do that with their
- 20:35Speaker 3: friends and family and Napa, and then I think they
- 20:38Speaker 3: gave their written vows. I would imagine at this ceremony
- 20:42Speaker 3: in Austin with about i'd say two hundred of.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Us there, two and twenty, yeah, I asked.
- 20:47Speaker 3: So it was a good solid group people from all
- 20:51Speaker 3: different walks of life. We saw producers like Alan there
- 20:56Speaker 3: who used to be working on The Bachelor. We saw
- 20:59Speaker 3: direct that used to be on The Bachelor. We saw
- 21:02Speaker 3: Hollywood hosts that were there, to professional athletes, to just
- 21:06Speaker 3: good old friends from Austin like their neighbors. We saw
- 21:10Speaker 3: her sorority sisters there and uh in which I thought
- 21:14Speaker 3: was a really cool moment when she when Laurena announced
- 21:17Speaker 3: each group that was there, because it shows each scope
- 21:21Speaker 3: of their life like family, friends, family, you know, childhood friends,
- 21:25Speaker 3: and then obviously the rest that I just had mentioned.
- 21:28Speaker 3: So there was there was a solid group of people,
- 21:30Speaker 3: a lot of which I had known. I didn't know
- 21:33Speaker 3: necessarily that they were going to be at the wedding,
- 21:36Speaker 3: but it was. It was spectacular. And it was also
- 21:38Speaker 3: spectacular to see Chris's kids who are now in college,
- 21:42Speaker 3: which is wild to me because when I was even
- 21:44Speaker 3: on the show, you know, Taylor was in middle school,
- 21:49Speaker 3: middle school, like just coming out of middle school.
- 21:51Speaker 2: Maybe not maybe maybe elementary school, Jared, Jared.
- 21:55Speaker 4: Maybe element Freudian slip there.
- 21:59Speaker 2: Think about it. She's going she's a sophomore now, and
- 22:03Speaker 2: you were the bats. Okay, so I was middle school.
- 22:05Speaker 4: It was middle school because it was like right on
- 22:07Speaker 4: the border.
- 22:07Speaker 3: Because I remember when her and her friends was so
- 22:09Speaker 3: fun for me because it was kind of the season
- 22:11Speaker 3: where you expect her friends for the first time to
- 22:13Speaker 3: be interested in the show, and so they would all
- 22:15Speaker 3: get so excited and come and it was always really
- 22:17Speaker 3: fun for me to be like around them because they
- 22:20Speaker 3: were just like giddy. But yet also Taylor's dad is
- 22:23Speaker 3: the host and like the leader of this franchise. But
- 22:26Speaker 3: it was really the first time that she could tune
- 22:28Speaker 3: in fully and watch a full season without you know,
- 22:32Speaker 3: having her eyes have to be closed at times, and
- 22:34Speaker 3: so it was.
- 22:36Speaker 4: It was great to see her.
- 22:37Speaker 3: Uh, it's great to see Josh and his girlfriend. So
- 22:41Speaker 3: we've gone through everye's there, We've gone through the ceremony.
- 22:44Speaker 3: They had some great barbecues, some mac and cheese.
- 22:47Speaker 2: This food was really good. And you guys speaking of
- 22:52Speaker 2: like just moments in the past, Taylor being her, his
- 22:56Speaker 2: daughter being in middle school. That reminds me of me
- 23:00Speaker 2: him with his kids in Paradise during that first season.
- 23:02Speaker 2: And I was still so starstruck by Chris, just being like,
- 23:05Speaker 2: oh my god, I can't believe this is Chris Harrison,
- 23:07Speaker 2: Like how how weird is it? That was like the
- 23:09Speaker 2: moment that you realized you were on like the Bachelor,
- 23:11Speaker 2: because like Chris Harrison would disappear every now and then.
- 23:15Speaker 2: And that's what Wells brought up in your joint speech.
- 23:18Speaker 2: How the first night he was like, not the goes, sorry, Jojo,
- 23:22Speaker 2: wasn't stars start to see you, but Chris Harrison, Holy crap.
- 23:27Speaker 2: So we talk about your speech and how you guys
- 23:29Speaker 2: planned it because it complimented each other. You guys went
- 23:32Speaker 2: back and forth and let us know when they asked
- 23:35Speaker 2: you to do that, you were the only people to
- 23:37Speaker 2: give a speech besides his kids. So it's really really special.
- 23:40Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a bit, I mean it was. It was
- 23:42Speaker 3: a big honor, which I would say, knowing that Wells
- 23:45Speaker 3: and I were the two people asked to give a
- 23:47Speaker 3: speech outside of his kids made Wells and I extremely nervous,
- 23:51Speaker 3: like extremely.
- 23:52Speaker 2: Nervous, Like Wells didn't eat before him because and he
- 23:55Speaker 2: was like, you know, I just don't want to eat before.
- 23:56Speaker 2: I was like, are you nervous, You're actually you are nervous,
- 24:00Speaker 2: and He's like, no, no, no, I'm not nervous and just
- 24:01Speaker 2: like don't want to I'm like, oh, okay, you just
- 24:03Speaker 2: don't want to eat, but you're not nervous.
- 24:05Speaker 4: Yeah, if we were nervous, trust me.
- 24:08Speaker 3: So Lauren and Chris had reached out to us probably
- 24:13Speaker 3: a month ago and had asked if we'd be okay
- 24:17Speaker 3: giving a toast at their wedding, and at that point
- 24:22Speaker 3: we didn't know, you know, who all was giving toasts.
- 24:24Speaker 3: We later found out that it was just Wells and
- 24:26Speaker 3: I and then his kids, So Wells and I started
- 24:29Speaker 3: to kind of talk about it has been really a
- 24:31Speaker 3: fun experience because we we did put what I would say,
- 24:34Speaker 3: a lot of work into it. I'm not going to
- 24:36Speaker 3: say like we sweat over this. It wasn't like a
- 24:38Speaker 3: stressful thing for us. But we talked to each other
- 24:40Speaker 3: quite a bit about this speech. And the fun part actually,
- 24:43Speaker 3: which I think would be really fun for you, is
- 24:45Speaker 3: going back through all of our memories of Chris and
- 24:48Speaker 3: Lauren and pulling back like, these are the interactions that
- 24:51Speaker 3: have meant something to me, these are the funny interactions
- 24:53Speaker 3: that we've had, these are the memories that we have together.
- 24:56Speaker 3: Here's the memories that other people have of them, Here's
- 24:58Speaker 3: what other people say about them. And I think for
- 25:01Speaker 3: us it was just a very it was a very
- 25:04Speaker 3: exciting experience because I think it just continued to remind
- 25:08Speaker 3: me how much both of these two people have met
- 25:10Speaker 3: through you know, my my personal journey over the last
- 25:14Speaker 3: six years, and how many how much they've meant to
- 25:17Speaker 3: so many others personal journeys over the last you know,
- 25:20Speaker 3: sometimes you know twenty years for Chris and then you
- 25:23Speaker 3: know another seven or eight for Lauren as she's been
- 25:25Speaker 3: a part of the franchise. And so we did go
- 25:29Speaker 3: back and forth that we did plan it out. We
- 25:31Speaker 3: had a couple of key points we wanted to really emphasize,
- 25:35Speaker 3: which is obviously how great they are. But then some
- 25:37Speaker 3: really funny stories about you know, when I first met
- 25:40Speaker 3: Lauren Zema, it was in a bathroom because.
- 25:44Speaker 2: I such a good story.
- 25:46Speaker 4: Yeah, I my.
- 25:46Speaker 3: Pants were too tight, so I had to drop my
- 25:48Speaker 3: pants down to my ankle to go to the bathroom.
- 25:50Speaker 3: And I was going to the bathroom on my very
- 25:52Speaker 3: first day of being the Bachelor during a studio shoot,
- 25:55Speaker 3: and I forgot to lock the door, and she comes
- 25:58Speaker 3: into the bathroom and there I am stand staring at her,
- 26:00Speaker 3: you know, full frontal. And that was the first day
- 26:03Speaker 3: I've ever met Lauren Zima. And it, you know, to
- 26:06Speaker 3: think now that I'm standing on stage at her wedding
- 26:08Speaker 3: as a very funny idea. And then with Chris, there's
- 26:14Speaker 3: a thousand you know, Chris stories that we could go through. So, yes,
- 26:18Speaker 3: it meant a lot to us. We were very nervous,
- 26:20Speaker 3: both of us.
- 26:21Speaker 2: Yeah, but you guys are just pros at public speaking,
- 26:24Speaker 2: like there are not besides Jared, there are not two
- 26:28Speaker 2: older people in the world that I can think like, oh,
- 26:30Speaker 2: they can get up there and rocket with even out
- 26:33Speaker 2: without planning.
- 26:34Speaker 4: Well, thank you.
- 26:35Speaker 2: In storytelling too, like not just public speaking, and like
- 26:39Speaker 2: in the way that you have to deal with generous.
- 26:41Speaker 3: I think actually, to summarize the speech topic, we were
- 26:46Speaker 3: very nervous for one reason because when you are asked
- 26:49Speaker 3: to do anything at somebody's wedding, you know this is
- 26:53Speaker 3: going to be, you know, one of the biggest days
- 26:55Speaker 3: of their life, and you don't want to be remembered
- 26:58Speaker 3: as the person that really screwed up. Like after we
- 27:01Speaker 3: gave the speech, people were coming up to me and
- 27:03Speaker 3: being like, hey, you know, good job, or hey waited
- 27:07Speaker 3: to go whatever, And then they'd be like, I remember
- 27:09Speaker 3: at my wedding, my best man flopped.
- 27:11Speaker 4: He said this and this and this. It was so awkward,
- 27:14Speaker 4: it was so weird.
- 27:16Speaker 3: So I do think there's the ability to really screw
- 27:18Speaker 3: it up and be remembered as a friend that really
- 27:20Speaker 3: screwed up your that wedding, not the whole wedding.
- 27:22Speaker 2: Only been to one wedding where I remember somebody just
- 27:26Speaker 2: being like, oh my, but you remember, I don't believe
- 27:29Speaker 2: he's saying this, Yes, of course, yeah, I remember. It.
- 27:32Speaker 2: It wasn't even somebody I was really close to. It
- 27:35Speaker 2: was more of like a friend of a friend's wedding,
- 27:36Speaker 2: but she was having such a gigantic wedding. She's like, yeah,
- 27:39Speaker 2: you and Jered should come, and like, yes, I do
- 27:40Speaker 2: really enjoy being around her, but like I couldn't believe
- 27:45Speaker 2: the stories this man was saying, and just the roasting
- 27:47Speaker 2: that was happening. A little roast here or there is fun.
- 27:50Speaker 3: Yeah, you remember it and it stands out to you.
- 27:53Speaker 3: So you don't want to be those guys. You don't
- 27:55Speaker 3: want to be that. But we did it. I hope
- 27:58Speaker 3: that everybody got out of it, you know. I hope
- 28:02Speaker 3: what everybody got out of it was that.
- 28:03Speaker 4: They really.
- 28:05Speaker 3: Know and understand just how incredible Chris and Lorenard to
- 28:08Speaker 3: so many of us, and how they should be known
- 28:11Speaker 3: and seen as two people who have given up big
- 28:14Speaker 3: pieces of their lives to cater and care for and
- 28:17Speaker 3: also guide and direct, but also just make ridiculous TV
- 28:22Speaker 3: for many years, and this should be a celebration of
- 28:25Speaker 3: two of them.
- 28:26Speaker 2: It was just great, Like everything was great. Your speech
- 28:28Speaker 2: was wonderful. It was heartfelt and hilarious, and then so
- 28:31Speaker 2: were the vows and that's exactly what you want. You want,
- 28:35Speaker 2: like to break up the tears with a couple laughs.
- 28:39Speaker 2: Did you cry at all.
- 28:40Speaker 4: I did cry.
- 28:41Speaker 2: I did, I cried, got welld up and I got welly.
- 28:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I cried when I, like I said, the moment
- 28:48Speaker 3: hit me. I was like, this is a very sacred night.
- 28:50Speaker 3: We're outside at a wedding. Everybody's looking so good. There's
- 28:54Speaker 3: so I mean, I always get emotional when my wife
- 28:57Speaker 3: is with me at these bachelor events because I'm just like,
- 29:01Speaker 3: I don't and then she's like getting along with people
- 29:03Speaker 3: and talking to people because I'm just like, how how
- 29:06Speaker 3: have I been so lucky? Like how do I get
- 29:08Speaker 3: to a place where these two worlds can collide and
- 29:10Speaker 3: they can collide in a way that I'm not threatened
- 29:13Speaker 3: by or nervous about, but I can see as but
- 29:15Speaker 3: that are fun for me and beautiful to me. I
- 29:18Speaker 3: get very emotional at the people that were a part
- 29:20Speaker 3: of the Bachelor you included, who kind of like have
- 29:23Speaker 3: helped her enter in and like be when she goes
- 29:27Speaker 3: to these she's excited because she believes and knows that
- 29:29Speaker 3: she has friends there. So I get emotional over that.
- 29:32Speaker 3: And then so then you look around the room and
- 29:34Speaker 3: you're like, you know, there's Colton, who obviously has has
- 29:37Speaker 3: been through it, from the show, and yeah, he's still here.
- 29:40Speaker 3: And there's there's Ari who has been through it from
- 29:42Speaker 3: the show, yet he's still here. There's Jojo who has
- 29:45Speaker 3: been through it, you know, as she mentioned with Jordan,
- 29:47Speaker 3: but then they get married. Like there's Kaitlin and Jason
- 29:50Speaker 3: standing next to each other, Like, it's just cool, I
- 29:53Speaker 3: think to see this in person and be reminded that
- 29:57Speaker 3: there are really cool, really heartfelt people that come from
- 30:02Speaker 3: this franchise. They're just doing their best after getting thrown
- 30:04Speaker 3: into this crazy world.
- 30:06Speaker 2: Yeah, and I'm just so grateful for this crew, and
- 30:10Speaker 2: I'm so grateful for the show. And I just have
- 30:13Speaker 2: these moments during moments of like watching them exchange their vows,
- 30:17Speaker 2: being like, how am I here? How am I here?
- 30:21Speaker 2: And it's the coolest And I never go a day
- 30:25Speaker 2: without appreciating what the show has brought into my life.
- 30:29Speaker 4: That's right.
- 30:29Speaker 3: Well, that's kind of the summary of the wedding. After
- 30:32Speaker 3: the wedding, everybody went home because we were exhausted. I
- 30:36Speaker 3: was exhausted at an early flight the next day. And
- 30:40Speaker 3: it was a massive success from all accounts, right, no drama,
- 30:46Speaker 3: no awkwardness, a ton of love being shared, a ton
- 30:48Speaker 3: of love being given great times, catching up with friends
- 30:52Speaker 3: that maybe you don't see as often as you would like,
- 30:54Speaker 3: or friends that you haven't seen in years, or maybe
- 30:56Speaker 3: friends that you see all the time.
- 30:58Speaker 4: But just you get to enjoyed this together. It was
- 31:02Speaker 4: a beautiful wedding.
- 31:03Speaker 3: Wishing Chris and Lauren then absolute dream. You can listen
- 31:07Speaker 3: to probably more details of the planning and of the
- 31:11Speaker 3: whole evening and why they did the things they did
- 31:14Speaker 3: on the most dramatic pod ever. It is a Chris
- 31:19Speaker 3: Harrison and Laurenzima special. They have obviously talked about it
- 31:22Speaker 3: and you should go over and listen to that as well.
- 31:24Speaker 3: But until next time, Ashley, until the next wedding, until
- 31:27Speaker 3: the next show airs, I haven't been.
- 31:30Speaker 2: I've been Ashley, See you guys.
