- 0:00Speaker 1: Let's go.
- 0:00Speaker 2: Let's go.
- 0:01Speaker 3: I'll start to you want to present off the bench.
- 0:04Speaker 1: This is what we have been waiting for.
- 0:05Speaker 4: The hype is over.
- 0:06Speaker 3: Off the bench.
- 0:08Speaker 5: I got to come off the fitch.
- 0:09Speaker 3: Now here's Jacob Hesser.
- 0:18Speaker 6: All right, welcome back in SEC spring meetings. Here in Destin, Florida.
- 0:21We have got LSU women's head basketball coach Kim Mulkey
- 0:24here with is coach.
- 0:25Speaker 4: It is always a pleasure. We appreciate the time.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Well, I'm glad to be here.
- 0:29Speaker 7: I wish I didn't have these high heels on and
- 0:31I was in flip flops and on that beach out there.
- 0:34But I'll come back with my family later in the summer.
- 0:36Speaker 6: Oh absolutely, coach. What spring meeting is this for you
- 0:40and your coaching?
- 0:42Speaker 7: Well, I'll tell you I'm much rather be in Destined
- 0:45because that's my vacation of choice. But when I was
- 0:48in the Big twelve all those years we would go
- 0:50to the Broad Morn Colorado springs and places. Well, I'm
- 0:54not a golfer, right, so anything with a beach and
- 0:57uh and water.
- 0:58Speaker 2: I'm more I'm more in to.
- 1:00Speaker 6: And how much have the the you know things on
- 1:03the agenda, the bullet points changed. I guess over the
- 1:07years because it feels like we've been really about four years.
- 1:10It's been so much about NIL and transfer portal, where
- 1:13I'm sure you know you had a lot of the
- 1:15same when you were at Baylor and other places, but
- 1:17now it's it's kind of been just heavy in IL
- 1:20and transfer portal.
- 1:21Speaker 7: It is, and you know, every year you talk about
- 1:23the same stuff and that kind of becomes boring. You
- 1:26talk about referees, you talk about game schedules, you talk
- 1:30about non conference skal, you know, all the same stuff.
- 1:33But what is really transpired now is that we have
- 1:36these meetings and we're really waiting in the unknown. We're
- 1:40waiting for a judge to have a ruling. It's it's
- 1:45kind of like you're building the ship as you're on
- 1:47the water.
- 1:48Speaker 5: You know.
- 1:49Speaker 7: It's it's crazy because it's like things could change and
- 1:53level out next year. But then it's we're talking about
- 1:57things that we think are going to happen, and then
- 1:59what if they don't.
- 2:00Speaker 2: So it's kind of interesting.
- 2:03Speaker 6: Does it give you any peace of mind that it
- 2:06is the SEC? You do have Commissioner Greg Sanky, So
- 2:10no matter what it looks like that the SEC will
- 2:13probably get the best of it.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Well, what's our saying?
- 2:17Speaker 7: It just means more right, And having been in the
- 2:20Big Twelve that I didn't think much of that.
- 2:24Speaker 2: You're focused on your league.
- 2:25Speaker 7: But now being in this league with the addition of
- 2:28OU in Texas, it really does. It's like, Sankie, You're
- 2:36sitting there and he's got to make tough decisions. He's
- 2:38got to address things with each institution to try to
- 2:43have a collective hole that we all follow the same rules.
- 2:47And I think, gosh, she's got to be one smart dude,
- 2:50or he's got a lot of smart people around him
- 2:51because he has to fix a lot of things and
- 2:53he has to make tough decisions. And I just I've
- 2:58enjoyed being in this league. Enjoyed the listening ears, I've
- 3:02enjoyed the competition. I've enjoyed the great coaches. I've enjoyed
- 3:08meeting coaches in football and men's basketball that I've watched
- 3:11from AFAR and now I can say I know them
- 3:15because of SEC.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Meetings every year.
- 3:17Speaker 4: Yeah, no question about it.
- 3:18Speaker 6: What would you say, coach, is maybe the one thing
- 3:21this year that maybe you had the most discussions about
- 3:25in those rooms, Like was there one major topic that
- 3:27y'all continued to come back to.
- 3:29Speaker 1: I thought a.
- 3:30Speaker 7: Very a very heartfelt conversation was revenue share. And I
- 3:38think the message and we just shared it with the
- 3:41athletic directors is.
- 3:44Speaker 2: We keep here in.
- 3:45Speaker 7: Seventy five for football, fifteen for men's basketball, five for
- 3:49women's basketball. And then you realized after meeting these last
- 3:53couple of days, not everybody's getting five percent shared in
- 3:57women's basketball. And so while we're competitors and we only
- 4:01think about ourselves, and let me get what I can
- 4:04get from LSU, and LSU does take tremendous care of
- 4:07my program. I do have a heart for those who
- 4:11how are you going to compete with the LSUS in
- 4:14the South Carolinas and the Texas who have been to
- 4:17final fours and one national championships and probably are getting more.
- 4:21Speaker 2: You do want.
- 4:22Speaker 7: The conference to do good, And I then sympathize with
- 4:25the athletic directors. They're looking at the bottom line, you know,
- 4:30the final results of money, and you can't do that
- 4:34in women's sports. You cannot do that. I've said it
- 4:37many times. So you guys on you and T Bob
- 4:39on the radio, No women's sport makes money none and
- 4:45so you have to see value in them. You have
- 4:49to see those sold out arenas, you have to see
- 4:52those television appearances, those championships, because you can't put a dollar.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Value on that.
- 4:58Speaker 4: It is something coach.
- 4:59Speaker 6: It's a great point that we don't talk about, like you know,
- 5:02the pmacs going to have thousands of fans when your
- 5:05team plays.
- 5:06Speaker 4: That's not just the case everywhere. And so when you're
- 5:08talking about.
- 5:09Speaker 6: Percentages, well, LSU's gonna do whatever they can to keep
- 5:12that going right. They're going to make sure that you're
- 5:14taken care of. But it's something we don't talk about.
- 5:16It's not going to be the case everywhere, and those
- 5:19those teams and those programs are going to have steep challenges.
- 5:22Speaker 7: And as I said, we all are competing against each other.
- 5:26But at the end of the day, there's sixteen good
- 5:29institutions in this conference and we want to always be
- 5:33able to say to the other conferences it does mean
- 5:37more in the SEC. And if we don't have everybody
- 5:41getting to the NCAA tournament and doing good because they
- 5:44can't get their players that require a little bit more
- 5:49money's it hurts all of us in the League. And
- 5:52I mean, look at men's basketball. Didn't we have everybody
- 5:56but two teams this year. I can remember when I
- 5:59got in the league, we weren't that good in men's basketball.
- 6:04So what did we do to help men's basketball get better?
- 6:07Speaker 8: Right?
- 6:08Speaker 7: Well, don't allow women's basketball to lose what they have gone.
- 6:12To me right now, in the history of my coaching
- 6:16and playing, women's basketball is as high rated as.
- 6:20Speaker 2: It can ever be.
- 6:21Speaker 7: So let's don't lose that and we slip and then
- 6:24we look up two or three years down the road
- 6:27and we've lost that.
- 6:29Speaker 4: Right.
- 6:29Speaker 6: Yeah, it's a great point to me right now, your
- 6:32viewership in the arenas, and I've told you this on
- 6:35the radio. I mean, I've got five kids, but I've
- 6:38got four boys, and there's nothing more they enjoy than
- 6:40going to the PMC and watching your team play.
- 6:43Speaker 7: Well, you know, I have one of each too. And
- 6:45my son is like your boys. He grew up watching
- 6:48some of the greatest women's basketball and he can't sit
- 6:52there and go, well, they're just girls. No, he grew
- 6:56up playing against those just girls. And he has a
- 6:59great respect. Having played baseball at LSU, he just has
- 7:03great respect for the highest level of women's basketball, and
- 7:10you just kind of wanted.
- 7:11Speaker 2: To stay there.
- 7:11Speaker 7: And as I said, I'm spoiled at LSU, But I
- 7:14hope spoiled is not the word. I hope the product
- 7:18we have given them in a short period of time
- 7:21is a return on their investments.
- 7:22Speaker 6: Right, new players probably coming in probably literally like right now.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Well they did this past weekend.
- 7:29Speaker 7: So my coaching staff, we moved in freshmen and transfers.
- 7:36And I don't require the whole team to be there
- 7:40for workouts in the summer because some are doing USA
- 7:45Basketball stuff and it's such.
- 7:47Speaker 2: A long season.
- 7:48Speaker 7: So what I do, as I tell them, you can
- 7:51pick the session in summer you want to come, or
- 7:54you can come in the fall. You're here, it's a
- 7:57slower pace in the summer, take a class or two,
- 8:02do individual workouts, and get in that weight room with
- 8:04our strength and conditioning coach. So several of them chose
- 8:08to come on the first session, and then some will
- 8:10be here the second session, and then they'll all be
- 8:12here in the fall.
- 8:13Speaker 6: Yeah, I know you're looking forward to that pretty good
- 8:16group you've got coming in. Coach through freshmen in high
- 8:19school recruiting, which I know is very important to you.
- 8:21We've talked about that many times. But some pretty high
- 8:23profile transfers as well.
- 8:26Speaker 7: Listen, they all look good on paper, right, but the
- 8:29transfers have proven themselves at other institutions, So we know
- 8:32what the transfers are capable of doing. What you don't
- 8:35know is those high school players and their rankings. But
- 8:39we sure are excited about those high school players, but
- 8:41don't put too much pressure on them. Let them find
- 8:44themselves and their role within our program and get them here.
- 8:48And we are excited. When you think about the perimeter
- 8:52play that we have. We think we'll have outstanding perimeter
- 8:56play this year. What we don't know is we have
- 8:59had to replace a lot of post play and so
- 9:01it'll be interesting to see when we're all on the
- 9:03same page how good we can be.
- 9:06Speaker 6: Last one coach, because you know, I got to get
- 9:08a baseball question and with you, LSU Regional, Will you
- 9:12be in the box? Will you be supporting the Tigers
- 9:14because you know baseball as well as anybody that I know.
- 9:18Speaker 2: I plan to be there.
- 9:19Speaker 7: I'm waiting for my grandchildren to come in Saturday for
- 9:23my camp which starts Monday, and I'm babysitting them all
- 9:26week as well, so I.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Do want to take them there.
- 9:29Speaker 7: I'm familiar with Dallas Baptists, having been in Waco, Texas
- 9:33for twenty four years. Even have some friends who have
- 9:35children that play for Dallas Baptists. Not anybody else in
- 9:40the regional that I know of right now, But I
- 9:43do love baseball. I love the playoffs in any sport
- 9:47because I think it's just taking up a whole notch
- 9:51offensively and defensively, like the NBA.
- 9:54Speaker 1: I'll watch it.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Right now, but I wouldn't probably.
- 9:57Speaker 7: Watch it during the season because they play so many games. Yeah,
- 10:00people just tend to take it up a notch when
- 10:03it's playoffs, and I.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Know the box will be full.
- 10:07Speaker 7: I know it'll be exciting, and we gotta do it
- 10:11so that we can get a super regional in Baton
- 10:14Rouge and you know Omaha and Jays.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Jay's just really had a good year.
- 10:19Speaker 4: Coach, you're the best. Truly appreciate time.
- 10:21Speaker 6: I know you've got a lot going on back home,
- 10:22trying to get back home, so I appreciate the sit down.
- 10:25Speaker 2: You're welcome, big guy.
- 10:26Speaker 6: All right, there she is LSU coach Kim Mulkey will
- 10:29step way more coming back to your wait.
- 10:33Speaker 8: Welcome back in off the bench? Is that right?
- 10:35Speaker 9: There was Jacob Hesser with LSU women's basketball coach Kim Maulkey.
- 10:39I got to say the SEC just continues to beat
- 10:42the Big Twelve because the beginning of that interview, Coach
- 10:46Maulkey about you know what's it like being in Destined
- 10:49for the SEC spring meetings and coach said, well, you know,
- 10:51when we were in the Big Twelve, we would usually
- 10:53go somewhere like Colorado Springs. I'm sure Colorado Springs is lovely.
- 10:57My sister in law used to live right outside of
- 10:59Colorado Springs life says it's a great place. But this
- 11:01is spring meetings and there's nothing better than being at
- 11:04Destin on the beach for SEC spring meetings. And that's
- 11:07why the SEC is the best conference in all of
- 11:11collegiate sports. Stay winning SEC. Excellent location for those spring meetings.
- 11:16I was watching Brian Kelly a little bit on his
- 11:19video interview with Paul Finebaum yesterday and Jay got him
- 11:23as an interview as well. We'll play that a little
- 11:24bit later in the show. But like they got the
- 11:26beach in the background, it just looks great. A plus
- 11:29job there on the location for SEC spring meetings. All right,
- 11:32we're going to take a quick time out when we
- 11:34get back. Ross Jackson over at Louisiana Sports dot Net
- 11:37put up an article kind of mentioning, you know, his
- 11:40notes from OTA's his biggest takeaway so far during the
- 11:43media portion availability if you will of practice. Media actually
- 11:48expected to be present again today at OTAs as the
- 11:52Saints are in their second week of offseason workouts. But
- 11:56Ross kind of put out heading into today, put this
- 11:58up yesterday of things he wants. What's to keep an
- 12:00eye one out there at Saints camp. We'll break it
- 12:02all down next here on Off the bench.
- 12:04Speaker 3: Off the Bench.
- 12:06Speaker 4: Are good to pelicanroof dot com.
- 12:08Speaker 6: Pelicanroof dot com is the website and check it out.

- 12:18like financings right there on the website. Remember this right,
- 12:21zero interest for up to twenty one months were qualified applicants.
- 12:25You can find that again on the website. A couple
- 12:28of things they're doing here in May that we definitely
- 12:30want to tell you about. They are growing their Baton
- 12:31Rouge team and are looking to hire ten new sales
- 12:34reps during the month of May, and they're paying up
- 12:37to ten thousand dollars of assigning bonus and applicants can
- 12:40apply at pelicanroof dot com slash careers. But also don't
- 12:46forget they're giving away a free roof to a mother

- 13:02dot com and check out their pen post on Facebook.
- 13:06Speaker 3: Welcome back to off the Bench. I didn't mean it
- 13:26when I said I didn't love it, so I should
- 13:29have hell, I said I never should have let you go.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Didn't nothing.
- 13:33Speaker 3: I was stupid, I was foolish. I was learned to myself.
- 13:39Speaker 2: I could no father that I would ever be with it.
- 13:42Speaker 4: You know, never imagine.
- 13:44Speaker 3: That, said Hubsrsel. Because I didn't know you, because I
- 13:47didn't know me, would gonna know everything.
- 13:49Speaker 6: I never.
- 13:53Speaker 4: I'm a feeling now that I don't hear you because
- 13:58I don't have a child.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Back in.
- 14:03Speaker 9: Number two Thursday edition of off the bench. So we're
- 14:05just vibing there, just vibing there into the ball music.
- 14:08Nice nice vibes here on a Thursday. Okay, guys, I
- 14:12want your honest opinions. Don't have to worry about that
- 14:15with the laundry, Jordan, you might be a little bit
- 14:17too nice.
- 14:17Speaker 8: What do we think?
- 14:18Speaker 2: Shirt?
- 14:19Speaker 8: Is the shirt of yay or what do we what
- 14:20do we think?
- 14:21Speaker 4: I can't really like see, like I need to get
- 14:24up close.
- 14:24Speaker 9: Because I can't what somebody was asking about the designs
- 14:28are so yes, are not comprehending what that is? It
- 14:32almost like so any any like white you see it
- 14:35looks like a sketch drawing of people, whether it's like
- 14:37men women like dressed up you have, Yeah, I don't
- 14:43really And it's got like New Orleans stuff. So on
- 14:45their website it's called men's second line shirt. On the
- 14:51back it says French quarter second line. But it's it's
- 14:54pretty much this pattern all over. It's got like the
- 14:57sparkle here and.
- 14:59Speaker 2: You need to get glasses. I literally could not make.
- 15:01Speaker 8: Out what it's.
- 15:02Speaker 9: It's it's hard especially here like it you know what
- 15:05it looks like right here on this camera.
- 15:06Speaker 8: This one's a little bit brighter than the other one.
- 15:08Speaker 9: It looks like one of those seventies like Saved by
- 15:11the Belt type vibes when you just see like all
- 15:13the bright colors.
- 15:14Speaker 8: That's kind of what it looks like here.
- 15:15Speaker 2: But I don't hate it.
- 15:16Speaker 10: It looks like a comic book. Like it's very like
- 15:19I told you when you came out of the bathroom,
- 15:20was like very tea boy desk.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Like hate it, but you never wear stuff like that,
- 15:25So it.
- 15:25Speaker 10: Looks a little I don't a little outward worldly, but
- 15:29like it's not bad. Honestly. You just got to get
- 15:32the chest hair. You get some chest hair with it,
- 15:34it'll make it.
- 15:35Speaker 8: The buttons you can turn that camera bright.
- 15:40Speaker 4: We don't have.
- 15:42Speaker 1: We don't.
- 15:43Speaker 8: We don't have the t BAF. But we got a
- 15:45little bit on a little bit. Yeah yeah you got blonde.
- 15:49Speaker 10: Yeah how did your face get tam but your chest
- 15:52in it?
- 15:56Speaker 9: Because here here's what happened first day and a half.
- 16:00I mean we were swim trunks and nothing else right,
- 16:02typical beat you tied. Well, I felt myself getting a
- 16:05little red, and I was like, I don't want to burn,
- 16:07so I wore the sleeveless shirt so it got basically
- 16:10here down, which is why the arms look a lot
- 16:12more tan, and.
- 16:13Speaker 8: Then left the face.
- 16:14Speaker 9: So I basically alternated every other day after like the
- 16:17first day and a half. So it's a little bit
- 16:19look whatever, okay, wondering when when the shirts on the
- 16:23tai looks even Hey, that that's all I care about.
- 16:26Speaker 1: I mean, but also it's day one of the shirts.
- 16:29It's gonna take time, its time they won it looked.
- 16:32Speaker 8: It looked better in the dark brown shirt for sure.
- 16:35For sure, no.
- 16:37Speaker 10: Dark brown was ups vibes. Now you're like, now, I
- 16:41ain't gonna lie. It's like it's very t Bob. It's
- 16:43just his T Bob shirt. So it's like so t Bob,
- 16:46Like when I look at that, that's I can see
- 16:48T Bob having a rotation of just shirts just like that. Literally,
- 16:51he literally has a rotation of shirts just like that.
- 16:53Speaker 9: I mean, this was purchased four like he just gave
- 16:56it to me because it didn't fit it like this,
- 16:57this is t Bo.
- 16:58Speaker 1: That's crazy because he lost all out.
- 17:00Speaker 8: Of weight because when he when he told me, ye,
- 17:03T Bob's.
- 17:03Speaker 9: Still like like yeah, like I imagine Bob's still in
- 17:08an XL.
- 17:09Speaker 8: This is a medium.
- 17:12Speaker 3: Put a small T shirt on and it was like.
- 17:14Speaker 9: Yeah, so during break deering break, I'm just sitting here
- 17:18like this, you know, like just hand on the chin
- 17:20and I could feel it like right in here, like
- 17:22the shirt is shirt getting a little tight, like right
- 17:24in here. There's no way this would fit. Absolutely not.
- 17:28But when he texted me two weeks ago, he's like, hey,
- 17:32I have a Queen of Sparkle shirt.
- 17:34Speaker 8: Do you want it?
- 17:35Speaker 9: I was like, yeah, sure, did not know what it
- 17:39looked like, like.
- 17:40Speaker 10: With some give you a shirt, you got to know
- 17:43some type of it ain't just some regular T shirt
- 17:45you finna get.
- 17:46Speaker 9: So the jeans though, like I got the no he
- 17:49didn't give me. She was saying, like, make it work
- 17:51with jeans. I wasn't planning on wearing this today. I
- 17:54would do it with a darker jean since the shirts
- 17:56so bright. I got the lighter jean on today.
- 17:58Speaker 8: But I don't know.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Go to Miami, you gotta get a live.
- 18:03Speaker 8: I look like I'm at SEC Spring Meetings. Is where
- 18:05it looks like, yeah, this is an SEC. This is
- 18:07an SEC Spring meeting shirt.
- 18:08Speaker 1: Good professional move right there?
- 18:10Speaker 7: For sure, you look like you're about to go enjoy
- 18:11a night at splash.
- 18:13Speaker 10: Well, look and get get nice and lubricated, or like
- 18:18you're going to a drag brunch?
- 18:21Speaker 1: What what? Family? You hate family? You hate it, you can't.
- 18:25Speaker 10: You despise everybody sitting at the table with But you
- 18:27got to keep a nice straight face.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Like, hey guys, what's going on? Love you guys.
- 18:31Speaker 9: But it's a really good impression of me, really good.
- 18:35That is probably the best you try to do the
- 18:38Sometimes you try to do the Taylor impression. Uh when
- 18:41you're when you're doing the intro at hour, that one
- 18:43there just.
- 18:44Speaker 8: You know, just chef's kid. That was perfect.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Shout out with Chef Michael Johnson.
- 18:47Speaker 9: Speaking of Chef Michael Johnson coming on our number three
- 18:50we'll have we'll have chef coming on for our normal
- 18:54munchie segment at nine to fifteen. We will have a
- 18:56big deal, a new big deal at nine am. Right now,
- 18:59the a few minutes before we get to the Brian
- 19:02Kelly interview, which we will do after this upcoming break.
- 19:05Ross Jackson at louisianasports dot Net put out his biggest
- 19:08takeaways for the Saints at OTAs. Whether it's you know
- 19:12the quarterback competition, what the rotation is going to look
- 19:14like on the lines of scrimmage or receivers, everything like that.
- 19:19Want to dive into that a little bit. He has
- 19:21a good write up of it where he goes way
- 19:23into detail up on Louisiana Sports dot Net.
- 19:26Speaker 8: You can see it there.
- 19:27Speaker 9: And he mentioned that when he was out there during
- 19:30the media viewing portion, it was the first media practice,
- 19:34it was easy to call Spencer Ratler the front runner
- 19:36of this quarterback competition. You know, there's no surprise Rattler's
- 19:40been in the NFL for a year. Ratler actually completed
- 19:43all eight of his seven on seven passes. Now, that
- 19:47doesn't mean that Tyler Schuck was bad. He said it
- 19:50was six or seven of the eight passes that Tyler
- 19:52Schuck threw he completed as well. So you like to
- 19:55see that. It's not like, oh, they were both bad,
- 19:57Spencer Ratler just sucked a little bit less. No, they
- 19:59actually both did a really nice job. But look, when
- 20:02it comes to the Saints quarterback situation, we talked about
- 20:05Jay Cayner earlier this week with that oblique injury, and
- 20:08we kind of thought he was the third guy in
- 20:11line for that job. Anyways, Well, with that oblique injury.
- 20:15I mean, watch out for one hundred Deckers. He's the
- 20:17undrafted free agent. He was actually a tryout player. He
- 20:20wasn't even an undrafted free agent that came to camp.
- 20:23They kept him on after that first week with those
- 20:26tryout players. He's from Iowa Western, but he's not a
- 20:30normal Iowa Western quarterback. So he was at Iowa State
- 20:34for three seasons twenty twenty, twenty one, and twenty two.
- 20:38Was one of the highest rated quarterback recruits ever in
- 20:41the history of Iowa State football.
- 20:44Speaker 8: Played sparingly his first two years.
- 20:45Speaker 9: In twenty twenty two, he takes over as the full
- 20:47time starter, and he wasn't bad sixty six percent completion
- 20:51over three thousand yards now, nineteen touchdowns, fourteen interceptions.
- 20:54Speaker 8: But it was his first year as a starter.
- 20:56Speaker 9: If you remember the sports betting scandal that came out
- 21:01with Iowa players and i with State players, it was
- 21:03kind of that whole state Hunter Deckers was one of
- 21:05those guys involved when he was a quarterback at Iowa State.
- 21:09So you know, he leaves the team, he goes to
- 21:12Iowa Western, and if Iowa Western in last season, sixty
- 21:18four percent of his passes three eight hundred yards, thirty
- 21:21two touchdowns, just ten interceptions, and uh, he can run
- 21:25a little bit as well.
- 21:25Speaker 8: He's a big guy. He's about sixty.
- 21:27Speaker 9: Three, He's around two hundred and twenty two hundred and
- 21:30twenty five pounds.
- 21:31Speaker 8: He's a talented guy.
- 21:32Speaker 9: I'm not saying hundred Decker is going to come in
- 21:34and challenge Spencer Rattler and Tyler Shack for a starting position.
- 21:38Speaker 8: That's not going to happen.
- 21:39Speaker 9: They've invested too much into Tyler Shock and Spencer Rattler
- 21:42has been here for a year already. What I am
- 21:44saying is that if that oblique injury turns out to
- 21:47be more than just a few weeks setback for Jay Cayner,
- 21:49one hundred Deckers could make this team. There's a lot
- 21:51of buzz around him right now coming out of training camp.
- 21:55The next position that Nick wanted to or that ross
- 21:58excuse me wanted to highlight was the starting offensive line.
- 22:02So we've talked a lot about Trevor Pinning during the
- 22:05first couple of days of OTA's moving from right tackle,
- 22:07where he played last year, to that left guard spot. Well,
- 22:12it's been Kelvin Banks at left tackle. Most kind of
- 22:15expected that Pinning at left guard, McCoy and Ruiz at
- 22:18center and right guard. Everyone expected that, telling us a Fuaga,
- 22:22who was your starting left tackle a year ago moving
- 22:24to right tackle, which was his dominant position that he
- 22:27played in college. He played a lot more right tackle
- 22:29than left tackle. If you remember when they drafted Fuaga.
- 22:32A big reason why me and a lot of other
- 22:34people wanted that to be the draft pick was because
- 22:37of his versatility. He could play on the left side,
- 22:39he could play on the right side, he could play
- 22:41guard and tackle. They've moved him back over to right
- 22:44where he's apparently more comfortable, even though I thought he
- 22:46was good at left. But Kelvin Bank's that more pure
- 22:49left tackle. So that's kind of your starting OH line.
- 22:52But the Saints have a chance to actually have some
- 22:57decent depth on the offensive line. You brought in Dylan
- 23:01Radunes from the Tennessee Titans, who a lot of people
- 23:03thought was going to be that starter at left of guard.
- 23:06But moving Pinning over there, maybe Raduones is a good
- 23:09rotational piece, a good swing guard. Will Clap is currently
- 23:12on the roster. He could play center guard. Nick Saldeveri
- 23:15can play guard. He's currently still on this roster. Landon
- 23:18Young has played a lot of football for this team,
- 23:20left tackle, right tackle. He's kind of been your plug
- 23:23and play guy. Anytime one of your starting tackles go down.
- 23:25He's still on that team. That's four guys that can
- 23:28make decent backups for you. Now they're not going to carry.
- 23:31I don't expect all nine of those guys to make
- 23:33the team. But you have options on the offensive line
- 23:36because Pinning can play tackle, will clap center guard, Landon
- 23:40Young as a tackle, Dylan Raduones can play either guard spot.
- 23:44All of a sudden, you have quality depth on the
- 23:47offensive line. If you're starting five that you have put
- 23:49together right now works out.
- 23:51Speaker 8: I actually like.
- 23:52Speaker 9: The pieces there a little bit more than I did,
- 23:53especially this time last year.
- 23:56Speaker 7: Now.
- 23:56Speaker 9: He goes on to mention Brandon Staley's defense is as
- 23:59one of the things to look at, stand up edge rushers,
- 24:02changes in front coverages. We're gonna get more into that
- 24:05as the season gets closer. But sticking with the offense here,
- 24:09he mentioned Chris Olave and Rashid Shahid is two guys
- 24:12to keep an eye on, and it makes a lot
- 24:14of sense right both of them coming back from injuries
- 24:16of that injury plagued receiving corps that you saw in
- 24:19twenty twenty four. A lot of people have asked, oh,
- 24:23did this Where the Saints going to draft a receiver
- 24:25high in the draft.
- 24:26Speaker 8: They did not. Where are they going to sign a
- 24:28big name free agent? They did not.
- 24:30Speaker 9: I don't consider Brandon Cooks a big name free agent,
- 24:32but they did bring in Brandon Cooks. So is a
- 24:35Lave or Rashid a wide receiver one, No, but maybe
- 24:40they don't have to be. They're both quality receivers when
- 24:44they are fully healthy. You also added Brandon Cooks. He
- 24:47is passed thirty. He has a little bit past his prime,
- 24:50but he could still make a little bit happen. Now,
- 24:53his production did drop every year he was in Dallas,
- 24:55but he dealt with some injuries as well. If he
- 24:57can stay healthy, do you have a great receiving cord. No,
- 25:01I'm not trying to say, oh, Tyler Shuke's gonna come
- 25:03in here play in front of a really good.
- 25:04Speaker 8: Starting five on the offensive line. He's got studs on
- 25:07the outside.
- 25:07Speaker 9: No, that offensive line still has question marks because you
- 25:10got a lot of new pieces and your receivers. Let's
- 25:13call it like it is, are below average. You don't
- 25:15have that bona fide wide receiver one, but maybe you
- 25:18can have a decent group with a lave Rashid Shihed
- 25:21and Brandon Cooks. Maybe that's enough to just help out
- 25:25Tyler Schuck a tad. You're not gonna go out there
- 25:28and again give him the best weapons. I think this
- 25:30is actually one of the weaker wide receiver corps in
- 25:33the NFL.
- 25:34Speaker 8: You have Dante Pettis.
- 25:36Speaker 9: He is apparently working pretty high in the receiver rotation
- 25:38at OTAs you signed him in the middle of the
- 25:40year last year. You have Bubb Means, who you drafted
- 25:42a year ago. So you have pieces there, but they
- 25:48all have to stay healthy. Again, you don't have that
- 25:50one dominant guy, so you got to make sure that
- 25:52room's as healthy as possible so each receiver can complement
- 25:55the other. The last thing he gets into is the
- 25:59cornerback spot. You have mckinstree, you have a Lante Taylor.
- 26:02They are both back. You traded Marshaun Lottimore to the
- 26:05Washington Redskins halfway through the year. We know that, and
- 26:08you lost Pulsing a d Boat to the Giants in
- 26:09the offseason. Mckintree, I think can lock down one of
- 26:13those spots. It's uncertain whether or not a Lante Taylor
- 26:16can play that outside corner position just because he's played
- 26:19a lot more nickel in the NFL.
- 26:21Speaker 8: As he has as that boundary.
- 26:23Speaker 9: Corner mckinrey can lock down one side, who could be
- 26:26on the other because my preference would be playing nickel
- 26:28package pretty much all the time. That's kind of a
- 26:30base defense for a lot of people. Anyways, Keep Alonte
- 26:33Taylor right there as a slot corner half kool Aid
- 26:36mcentree on one side. Hopefully one of these younger guys
- 26:39can stop up Vetteran Isaac Eaedam has taking the majority
- 26:42of the first team reps. But Quincy Riley's out there.
- 26:45Quincy Riley's going to battle Isaac Headam for that starting spot.
- 26:48When you look at Quincy Riley, he was a fourth
- 26:50round pick, so the Saints, you know, spent pretty significant
- 26:53draft capital on him.
- 26:55Speaker 8: Three years at Louisville.
- 26:56Speaker 9: Eight interceptions, one of them returned for a touchdown down
- 27:01seventy four total tackles, Like he's got a little bit
- 27:04forced to fumble there as well. His numbers don't jump
- 27:07off the page. But he's a solid receiver corner. He's
- 27:12decent size for a rookie like that's a guy to
- 27:14keep an eye on it. I think the battle between
- 27:16Iatom and Quincy Riley's going to tell you a lot.
- 27:18If one of those guys can step up, you no
- 27:20longer need Alonte Taylor to play out wide. I think
- 27:22if Alante Taylor is an outside corner, it's out of necessity,
- 27:25not because that's what's best for your defense. Because I
- 27:27think what's best for your defense is having a guy
- 27:29like Alonte Taylor roaming in that nickel position because he's
- 27:32been so good there at his time in New Orleans.
- 27:35All Right, that's just a few things to kind of
- 27:38highlight take a look at again. Media is supposed to
- 27:40have availability at OTAs today. I'm sure Ross will have
- 27:43another updated ride up, but he put that out yesterday
- 27:46on Louisiana Sports dot Net. Want to kind of to
- 27:48break it down a little bit, all right, we're going
- 27:51to take a time out when we get back. We
- 27:53got another interview from our guy j Kester out there
- 27:55at SEC spring meetings. He said he had to sit
- 27:58down with Brian Kelly about a six seven minute interview.
- 28:01We'll play that here on the other side, on off
- 28:02the bench.
- 28:04Speaker 4: Off the bench, go to go Tommy's dot Com.
- 28:07Speaker 6: Go tommys dot com is the website Tommy's Windows Doors Insiding.
- 28:13Speaker 1: Gosh, that's a bad picture.
- 28:15Speaker 6: You know that they win the Angies Award every single year,
- 28:18but that's not the only award that they win.
- 28:20Speaker 4: I mean Best of Baton Rouge.
- 28:24Speaker 6: Winner Tommy's Windows Doors Insiding voted best window company in
- 28:30the Advocate Best window Company.
- 28:32Speaker 4: There's a lot.
- 28:33Speaker 6: There's a lot that advertise, you know, throughout this region.
- 28:37Like we get that, there's a lot that you see
- 28:38across town. But you know what best means. It means
- 28:41the top one, the one that nobody else can compare to.
- 28:45And that's exactly what you're gonna get with Tommy's Windows,
- 28:48Doors and Siding, truly the best. You can go to the
- 28:50website today to find more information, schedule your appointment.
- 28:53Speaker 4: That is Go Tommy's dot Com.
- 28:55Speaker 3: This is off the bench.
- 29:16Speaker 4: Mom. We'll do an Oklahoma Drill Coach to see which show.
- 29:18Speaker 5: Okay, listen, I gotta do him every Monday, Okay, true penance.
- 29:23Speaker 4: Yeah, uh, we're rolling three two one.
- 29:31Speaker 11: Johnny goes right now in SEC Spring meetings a head
- 29:33coach the l s U Fighting Tigers coach Brian Kelly,
- 29:36alongside Chris dor and Jacob Pastor, I and Peter Burns
- 29:39and BK. You got to be upset because all the guys,
- 29:41all the sponsors here at spring meetings. You're ever ready
- 29:43go play golf right now and you gotta go do
- 29:44fine bomb?
- 29:45Speaker 5: Is that a golf Yeah? I mean that's much more
- 29:47important than golf, right, I.
- 29:49Speaker 4: Mean, yes, I didn't.
- 29:50Speaker 5: I didn't get a laugh from I didn't get a
- 29:52laugh from anybody.
- 29:53Speaker 11: You see interview with him yesterday, Plane just absolutely ripped
- 29:56him and so it was so awkward and.
- 30:01Speaker 5: Laying is he can do funny things. Let's put it
- 30:05that way.
- 30:05Speaker 11: What what the hell did you learn this week?
- 30:08Speaker 4: Anything?
- 30:10Speaker 1: You know?
- 30:10Speaker 4: I did learn a lot.
- 30:11Speaker 5: One is that we think as football coaches that we
- 30:16we live in a vacuum. In other words, whatever we
- 30:19decide in our room is gospel. Then we get into
- 30:23the AD's room and it don't mean nothing because you
- 30:27really have to look at it from two perspectives. Right,
- 30:30the coaches, we're thinking about progress, right, we're thinking about
- 30:34transfer a portal and getting it into the right window.
- 30:37We're thinking about nil and how we can get some
- 30:40clarity and some teeth to that, and then we're thinking
- 30:44about revenue sharing and how we can get eighty five
- 30:48or one hundred and five on our roster. Then we
- 30:50walk in there and they go, hey, look, we need revenue.
- 30:54We're giving you guys twenty million dollars. We need revenue.
- 30:57You need to play more games, you need to do
- 30:59these things. And so it's a perspective, right that you
- 31:03gain that when you're sitting in that room. Those ads
- 31:07have to think about the revenue piece as well. And
- 31:10it's not to try to put you in harm's way,
- 31:13but the reality of it is, we're the third most
- 31:16watched sports in the country. It's number one is the NFL,
- 31:21number two is the NBA, and number three is SEC football.
- 31:25I mean that's major. People want to watch teams from
- 31:29the SEC play and particular play each other. Right, So
- 31:33it starts to put in perspective eight versus nine games, right,
- 31:36it starts to put in perspective, hey, do you play
- 31:39playing games? People want to watch the SEC play. And
- 31:42so then we go back into our room and we go,
- 31:45how about we control what we can control I know
- 31:48that's a long answer to your question, coach, would it
- 31:50help if y'all had more meetings maybe together with the
- 31:53high football coaches and the ads, you just get more done.
- 31:55Speaker 4: It's a great point.
- 31:56Speaker 5: We felt as a group that the New Orleans meetings
- 32:00where it was the ads and the coaches meeting together,
- 32:03it was our most productive time that we've had. And
- 32:06when you're split like this, like there's some important things
- 32:10that are coming up on the window, the transfer portal
- 32:13window that we haven't even got a chance to address
- 32:15with them, and how important it is, it will change everything.
- 32:19If we don't get that portal window in January, it
- 32:21changes everything.
- 32:22Speaker 4: You want one portal window, We.
- 32:23Speaker 5: Would like one. We will live with what we have
- 32:25right now with a second because there's no sec transferring
- 32:29in that second window.
- 32:31Speaker 4: We would live with that.
- 32:32Speaker 5: We would prefer one, and it needs to be in
- 32:35January or the calendar just changes.
- 32:38Speaker 6: So Coach, then you don't know who your team is
- 32:40if you have no idea, We'll think of it this way.
- 32:42Speaker 5: Fiscally, you got guys that want to leave in May
- 32:44to a May portal, you got them on payroll for
- 32:47three months. You might as well just throw it out
- 32:49the window. You're burning through Monday. And so if we
- 32:51want to be fiscally responsible, you know, if we want
- 32:54to think about player safety and listen, any kid that
- 32:57wants to go, he wants to go in January.
- 32:59Speaker 1: He doesn't want to wait around kid.
- 33:02Speaker 8: Exactly.
- 33:03Speaker 5: Well, yeah, well then that's the other side of it,
- 33:06right then you're going to be losing money and you're
- 33:08irresponsible fiscally. So I just again, I think being together
- 33:13with the ads where we can really just say here's
- 33:16our issue, this is what we need, that's what we've learned.
- 33:20I think we're making progress over perfection right now.
- 33:24Speaker 4: But it's real and it's a good thing.
- 33:26Speaker 12: I think the thing that I love the most about
- 33:28being here is seeing the camaraderie between all of you coaches.
- 33:31Everybody watches game days and going at each other, but
- 33:34you guys really do a lot of things together. And
- 33:38do you find it more open now about how different
- 33:42coaches are doing things because of the challenges that you
- 33:45face and because of the uncertainty that you're willing and
- 33:48maybe because there's twelve playoff spots now too, you're not
- 33:51fighting for just one. That your information sharing about things
- 33:54that you probably wouldn't have before.
- 33:55Speaker 4: Yeah, I think all that's right.
- 33:57Speaker 5: I think first of all, there's a respect that we
- 34:01all have tough jobs, and we're all listen, we love
- 34:05our jobs, were paid way.
- 34:06Speaker 4: Too much money. All those things are true.
- 34:09Speaker 5: But I think there's a true respect for each other
- 34:11in the way they do their job and the job
- 34:13that they have.
- 34:14Speaker 4: And then it's a it's a really good group.
- 34:16Speaker 5: There's nobody in there that that hasn't earned their opportunity
- 34:20to be there.
- 34:21Speaker 11: Five eleven those are two numbers that are starting to
- 34:24pop up. Five automatic qualifiers eleven spots or four automatic
- 34:28qualifiers from a certain league.
- 34:30Speaker 4: Where do you feel the coaches stand five to eleven? Five?
- 34:34Speaker 5: Well, I mean pretty obvious, right, I mean more automatics,
- 34:40you know, and the opportunity to maybe even steal another one.
- 34:43So I think that that's that's probably you know where
- 34:47all of our coaches are.
- 34:47Speaker 12: Are you afraid that the committee would limit that? Be
- 34:50like say, all right, you're getting the five, we're not
- 34:53going to go above that.
- 34:55Speaker 5: No. Our concerns with the committee is in terms of
- 34:59waiting your schedule. They look at just the right hand column,
- 35:02and what that looks like a loss is a lot.
- 35:05Not all losses the same, and I know nobody wants
- 35:07to talk about losses, but the truth of the matter
- 35:10is losses are different, and I think we would rather
- 35:13see a cleaner understanding of the process. Look, when I
- 35:19went was that Notre Dame we played for the national
- 35:21championship against Alabama in twenty twelve. That was the computer.
- 35:25It was all computer. Now we've moved very subjective. We're
- 35:29over here. We need to move it back into the
- 35:31add some ratings. Bill Connley's got one the Massy Report.
- 35:35I mean, I know we can't do an RPI, but
- 35:38if we can do something that brings the selection process
- 35:41into a finer line.
- 35:42Speaker 4: We'd be in good shape.
- 35:43Speaker 6: Yeah, Kaush, there has to be something because in basketball
- 35:45we talk about quad one victories.
- 35:46Speaker 13: In baseball we do talk about RPI. Softball RPI, that's
- 35:50a metric that we use and we have that. There
- 35:52has to be something that you can say, hey, I
- 35:54know this team lost, but they lost on the road
- 35:56to this number ten team. They lost on the road
- 35:58to number four, and then at number you know, at
- 36:00home at number three is a tough loss.
- 36:02Speaker 5: Just look at the Indiana and the excuse me, the
- 36:05Indiana and Alabama. Analogy right, Alabama had eight wins against
- 36:10six plus win teams. Indiana had four and they lost
- 36:14to one that didn't you know what I mean of.
- 36:16Speaker 4: Less than six. So you got to balance it.
- 36:19Speaker 5: You got to look at all losses are not the
- 36:21same and so there's got to be some kind of
- 36:23index in there. I know, what's hard to do, an
- 36:25RPI because you know, our our number of games is
- 36:28not big enough for you to get that index.
- 36:31Speaker 4: But we can do something. Yeah, it's fascinating.
- 36:33Speaker 11: Continues a role in these conversations are being had and
- 36:36hopefully you guys and the athletic directors and the head
- 36:38coaches hang out a little bit more to kind of
- 36:40solve that stuff. I know you got to run.
- 36:41Speaker 4: Yeah, thanks guys, I appreciate it. You thanks for having coach.
- 36:44Speaker 11: Brian Kelly, coach LSU Tigers joining us SEC spring meetings.
- 36:49Speaker 9: There was Jacob Ester right there at SEC Spring meetings
- 36:52with LSU had football coach Brian Kelly. They talked a
- 36:56lot about, you know, the college Football Playoff Committee, the
- 36:59move to say sixteen team playoff. That has just been
- 37:02a topic that everyone has discussed. We'll kind of gonna
- 37:06give you my my thoughts on that BK press conference
- 37:09coming back on the other side of the break, But
- 37:10the SEC coaches kind of seem to all be in
- 37:12locksed up.
- 37:13Speaker 8: You know.
- 37:13Speaker 9: I kind of broke down Sinky's comments yesterday about oh,
- 37:17our three teams got left out and two of them
- 37:20beat Georgia and you gotta have quality losses.
- 37:22Speaker 5: You kind of.
- 37:23Speaker 9: Echoed that, Cinnamon, and look, I mean, I can get
- 37:26behind it. You have to do it's best for your conference,
- 37:27but I still just don't quite know where they're getting this.
- 37:31We'll kind of break that down next coming up here
- 37:33on off the bench.
- 37:34Speaker 3: Off the bench, we're.

- 39:13you your first kiss.
- 39:15Speaker 4: Because I remember, girl, I was the one who.
- 39:18Speaker 2: Said, put your lips like this.
- 39:21Speaker 14: Even me, all the feeming people screaming your name, your
- 39:27love with can you wm up dab It's.
- 39:32Speaker 9: Not welcome back in Welcome back in final segment, hour
- 39:37number two. Here on a Thursday edition of Off the Bench,
- 39:42guys want to welcome a new member to the YouTube chat,
- 39:45Island Taylor, who is taking a screenshot of me in
- 39:50the shirt and made it their profile picture. So shout
- 39:54out Island Taylor. Good to have you in. Tell what
- 39:58I'm gonna miss we're talking about this, Jordan. When T
- 40:01bubb was leaving, like T bups chess there and T
- 40:03Bub's knee like they got to follow him to barstool.
- 40:06That's that's the only that's the only logical answer. But
- 40:09I'm gonna miss T bumps chess there in the chest.
- 40:12Speaker 10: No man, shout out T Bob Chess there. Shout out
- 40:14T Bob legg and I think it was like an elbow. Yeah,
- 40:18shout out T Bob's knee. If they're still around, they rebranded.
- 40:21Speaker 8: Yeah, I I don't know where they're at.
- 40:24Speaker 9: Okay, you just heard Jacob Pesser's interview with Brian Kelly
- 40:28there at u SEC spring meetings. Now, obviously it's centered
- 40:31around the college football playoff, you know, moving to the
- 40:33sixteen team playoff, the selection committee all that's kind of
- 40:36been the big topic of conversation over there at SEC
- 40:39Media Days Now. Yesterday I played an audio clip from
- 40:42SEC Commissioner Greg Sanki of him talking about, you know,
- 40:45it's almost more important to not lose now than to win.
- 40:48Speaker 8: Two of the three.
- 40:49Speaker 9: Teams they got left out of the College Football Playoff
- 40:52in the SEC beat the University of Georgia and they
- 40:56got penalized for playing a tough schedule.
- 40:58Speaker 8: Cally's kind of echoed that sentiment, and.
- 41:00Speaker 9: Really a lot of coaches like, it's not just Kelly,
- 41:02it's not just sank Like they're all kind of in
- 41:04lockstep about the College Football Playoffs selection committee and BK
- 41:08when when asked about the selection committee, he brought up
- 41:11Alabama and he said, look, the University of Alabama had
- 41:13eight wins against teams with six wins or more. Indiana
- 41:18only had four wins over teams with six wins or
- 41:21more and lost one of them. He went on to say,
- 41:24not all losses are the same, some are worse than others.
- 41:28I get that, and I get Sankie and Kelly and
- 41:31whichever other coach you want to bring up. They they
- 41:33kind of all have the same opinion on this, wanting
- 41:35to boost your conference, wanting to do what you think
- 41:37is best for the SEC. But I don't really know
- 41:42why they're only looking at this one way. I mean,
- 41:44I do know why they're looking at this one way,
- 41:45but I don't know how you can do that. Okay,
- 41:48let's go back to Alabama's losses. Kelly says not all
- 41:51losses are created equal. I agree with that. Alabama, two
- 41:55of their three losses are to Oklahoma and Vanderbilt. Combined,
- 41:59Oklahoma and Vanderbilt had five SEC wins this year. Vanderbilt
- 42:03finished seven and six, Oklahoma finished six and seven, so
- 42:07that's a thirteen and thirteen combined record. Overall, Alabama lost
- 42:10to two teams with a combined record of five hundred,
- 42:13both of them losing records by multiple games in SEC play,
- 42:17those are bad losses. The same thing with Ole Miss
- 42:20Ole Miss is two of their SEC losses were Florida
- 42:24in Kentucky. Kentucky went one in seven in the SEC.
- 42:28Their only SEC win was against the Ole Miss Rebels,
- 42:32and Florida went four and four, So that's five combined
- 42:36SEC wins between Florida and Kentucky.
- 42:39Speaker 8: I get it.
- 42:40Speaker 9: Indiana's schedule was not tough they lost a bad game.
- 42:44But we can't sit here and pretend that Alabama and
- 42:46Ole Miss did not lose bad games.
- 42:48Speaker 8: They did.
- 42:50Speaker 9: Ole Miss had a good loss to LSU on the
- 42:52road in overtime. That's not a bad loss. You lose
- 42:56to Kentucky, Granted it was early in the season, but
- 42:59Kentucky's only SEC win. You lose to Florida. Now, Florida
- 43:02was kind of hot when you played them. I get that,
- 43:04But you can't lose games like that and make it
- 43:07to the College Football Playoff.
- 43:08Speaker 8: You cannot give up.
- 43:09Speaker 9: If you're Alabama, you cannot give up forty points to
- 43:11a Vanderbilt and expect to get into the postseason. You
- 43:15cannot get beat twenty four to three to Oklahoma. I mean,
- 43:20at least when they allowed Vanderbilt to put up forty
- 43:22on him. It was forty to thirty five. The game
- 43:25somewhat came down to the wire. You got steamrolled by
- 43:28a bad Oklahoma football team that finished with a losing record.
- 43:32Now it was on the road, but twenty four to
- 43:34three didn't even score an offensive touchdown. Everyone tried to
- 43:38hype up Jayala Millroe for two years. I never bought
- 43:40him too. The hype, but people tried to hype up
- 43:42Jayala Molrow for two years. You had Ryan Williams, who
- 43:44was one of the best receivers in the country last year,
- 43:46and you couldn't score an offensive touchdown. You cannot make
- 43:50the College Football Playoff with losses like that. I get
- 43:53what Kelly's trying to do, I get what Greg Sankee's
- 43:55trying to do. I just can't get on board with
- 43:56it because you can mention the bad loss for Indiana,
- 43:59you can mention you kind of snuck in. They lost
- 44:01the conference championship the Clemson. They didn't deserve it either.
- 44:05Did Alabama and Olt Miss really deserve to get into
- 44:09that College Roble playoff? Sure they both beat Georgia. Congratulations
- 44:12Georgia didn't make it to the national championship. Everyone talked
- 44:18all season long and continuing into the offseason about how
- 44:21bad Georgia's offensive weapons were, and then when they got
- 44:26in the College Bable Playoff, you had Gunner Stockton Carson
- 44:28Beck turned the ball over a lot last year. Like
- 44:30Georgia in twenty twenty four, was not the Georgia we
- 44:32had seen in the past five years. Like, no doubt
- 44:35about it. On paper, that's a good win. But is
- 44:37that win alone enough to get you in the College
- 44:39Fotball Playoff? I don't think so. Alabama beats LSU. LSU
- 44:44goes nine to four, but that was during LSU's three
- 44:46game skit. I mean they were as cold as anybody
- 44:48in the country during that game. No, I'm not saying
- 44:50if they would have played at a different point in
- 44:52the season, would the result have been any different. No,
- 44:54maybe it wouldn't have been quite as lopsided. But I mean,
- 44:57you gotta win over Georgia. You gotta win over LSU.
- 45:03Speaker 8: He beat.
- 45:05Speaker 9: What what else does Alabama have? There's not a ton
- 45:08of top fight wins there as well. Same with Little Miss.
- 45:12You beat Georgia. Okay, cool a South Carolina. South Carolina
- 45:17didn't have a bad loss. Your losses were to LSU
- 45:20at home by two points in a game or three
- 45:24points in a game that you should have won. I
- 45:25thought South Carolina should have won that game. They let
- 45:27that one slip away.
- 45:29Speaker 8: Ols.
- 45:29Speaker 9: You got lucky to come out of Columbia with a
- 45:32win that day and you lose. So you could say, okay,
- 45:35well they should have got in and they didn't have
- 45:36a bad loss, but you lost to Alabama and Ole Miss,
- 45:40the other two teams that were in consideration. While South
- 45:43Carolina may have not had the bad losses, why I
- 45:45actually thought, out of those three teams, at the end
- 45:47of the year, South Carolina was playing the best out
- 45:49of the three. How could you justify putting in South
- 45:51Carolina overall Miss in Alabama that both have a head
- 45:54to head over South Carolina. There is a lot wrong
- 45:58with the College Football Playoff Comittee. We could sit here
- 45:59and hairs and talk about all the different reasons why
- 46:02people don't like it. Why you know, everybody hated the
- 46:05BCS and you went to the four team playoff, Well,
- 46:07four teams not enough. You got to go to twelve.
- 46:09Now people hate the twelve team playoffs. I get there's
- 46:11always going to be holes you can poke in things
- 46:13and complaints that you can bring up about a selection
- 46:16committee because at the end of the day, there are
- 46:17people in their bias and if the SEC wants to mention, hey,
- 46:21we think we should have got more teams in, that's great,
- 46:23But don't mention oh, well, you know, our teams beat Georgia.
- 46:26Our teams didn't suffer bad losses. Yeah they did. Alabama
- 46:29had two bad losses. Oh Miss had two even worse losses.
- 46:34I'm not saying that the College FOOTBA Playoff comittee is perfect.
- 46:37They're not a lot of people complaining when Florida State
- 46:39didn't get in two years ago. But not putting in
- 46:42a ole Miss, Alabama or South Carolina, in my opinion,
- 46:44is not one of the missteps by the College FOOTBA
- 46:46Playoff committee.
- 46:47Speaker 8: All right, that'll do it for hour number two.
- 46:49Speaker 9: We got one more hour left here on this Thursday,
- 46:52coming up at nine am. Just like we do every Thursday,
- 46:55We're gonna do big deal or no big deal at
- 46:58nine to fifteen, our munchie said, with chef Michael Johnson,
- 47:01and then some Melosie baseball to wrap it up.
- 47:04Speaker 3: Off the bench.
- 47:06Speaker 4: All right, go to Boudroselectrical dot com.

- 47:37is going to be something that is going to make
