- 0:05Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett. Hello, Big
- 0:13Speaker 1: Blue Nation. Welcome to Just the Cats. My name is
- 0:17Speaker 1: Michael Bennett on this Monday, September 14th. Hope everybody had
- 0:22Speaker 1: a great weekend as, you know, we get you started
- 0:24Speaker 1: on another week and another ball game coming up this weekend. But, oh, man,
- 0:29Speaker 1: what a great weekend I had. Justin Kalen is with
- 0:34Speaker 1: me this morning. We'll talk about his weekend. And then
- 0:36Speaker 1: you wake up and it's I'm still cold. So if
- 0:41Speaker 1: you want to give us a call, 502-384-1450. If you
- 0:44Speaker 1: want to text us on the Whiskey Thief text line,
- 0:46Speaker 1: you can do that 502-414-1450. Or you can tweet me
- 0:50Speaker 1: at JustTheCatRadio. All right, Justin, good morning. Good morning. You
- 0:54Speaker 1: doing okay today? I'm doing great. I walked outside and
- 0:58Speaker 1: it's like, ooh. A little chill in here. This is cold.
- 1:02Speaker 1: It's not cold, but a little chill in the air.
- 1:05Speaker 1: It is. I am still cold. That's the Florida in you.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Maybe it is, but my hands are freezing right now.
- 1:13Speaker 1: And this is like, okay, I got to figure a
- 1:15Speaker 1: way to get over this. I got some gloves in
- 1:16Speaker 1: my car if you want them. I probably need. You
- 1:19Speaker 1: know what I need is one of those hot hands.
- 1:21Speaker 1: There you go. And we still have a ton of
- 1:23Speaker 1: them from our trip to Norway last February. So, yeah,
- 1:28Speaker 1: I use those like crazy.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Only time I've ever had to use them is when
- 1:31Speaker 2: I was deer hunting.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Oh really? Yeah. Back in the day.
- 1:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:35Speaker 1: That's, that's the only problem with deer, honey. You sit
- 1:38Speaker 1: in a stand and you freeze. Yeah. It's not worth it.
- 1:42Speaker 1: I kind of got to a point. I enjoyed it
- 1:44Speaker 1: for a while, a few years I'd go. And then
- 1:46Speaker 1: I got to a point and it's like, what am
- 1:47Speaker 1: I doing? I don't know. I respect the guys that
- 1:50Speaker 1: do it all the time, but I, I don't know.
- 1:53Speaker 1: It just seems like there's better thing. I just been there,
- 1:56Speaker 1: done that. So I don't want to knock on that, but, uh,
- 2:00Speaker 1: turkey turkey hunting was always my favorite but because there's
- 2:03Speaker 1: strategy to it but uh anyway uh yeah it's a
- 2:06Speaker 1: little crisp in the air it it feels like fall
- 2:10Speaker 1: this morning which i don't like i'm not ready for
- 2:13Speaker 1: fall no i'm not either it's just it's just like
- 2:16Speaker 1: oh man not yet i mean the days i noticed
- 2:19Speaker 1: last night uh the days are getting shorter.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Oh i noticed yesterday morning i woke up and i
- 2:25Speaker 2: was like So the sun was like barely over the horizon.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Right.
- 2:31Speaker 2: And I'm like, why am I waking up naturally at
- 2:33Speaker 2: like 645? And I grabbed my phone and it's five
- 2:37Speaker 2: minutes to eight.
- 2:38Speaker 1: I'm like, wait, what? Oh, no. It's like the sun
- 2:41Speaker 1: should be so much higher in the sky at this point. Yeah.
- 2:44Speaker 1: I know it. I haven't seen if they voted on
- 2:47Speaker 1: whether or not they're keeping the time the same way.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Have you seen anything about that? Because I know I'm
- 2:53Speaker 1: probably in the minority. I want to keep it that way.
- 2:55Speaker 1: So I just, I don't. Just when you have to
- 2:58Speaker 1: go fall back and then it gets dark even earlier,
- 3:01Speaker 1: it's depressing to me. I don't like that kind of stuff.
- 3:04Speaker 1: So anyway, but a fun weekend. Had the big day
- 3:09Speaker 1: on Friday. Yeah, I freaking missed it. Oh, you did?
- 3:13Speaker 1: I did. How'd it go? It went well. I mean,
- 3:16Speaker 1: she had 12 horses. She came in seventh place. It's okay.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Not bad. No. Here's the thing that Dale Romans is
- 3:23Speaker 1: teaching me. Michael, first of all, she broke well. And
- 3:28Speaker 1: she was up there like in third place when they broke.
- 3:31Speaker 1: And she was coming around the turn. Cosmic Creed is
- 3:34Speaker 1: who we're talking about. My horse had had her first
- 3:36Speaker 1: race on Friday, and then she's coming around the turn.
- 3:39Speaker 1: It looked like she was going to come into first place.
- 3:42Speaker 1: And I thought she was going to come finish first, second,
- 3:44Speaker 1: or third. She just tired out. Is there a way
- 3:47Speaker 1: I can rewatch it? Oh, absolutely. I got it on
- 3:51Speaker 1: my phone. Okay. In fact, you know what? I might
- 3:54Speaker 1: tweet it out if it lets me. Okay. And that
- 3:56Speaker 1: way everybody can see it. Yeah, I'd love to watch it.
- 3:59Speaker 1: But for her first race, we were very happy. We're
- 4:03Speaker 1: looking at October 24th at Keeneland. Five and a half furlong,
- 4:08Speaker 1: so a little shorter. Because they think she's a sprinter,
- 4:11Speaker 1: not a two-turn horse. So we'll... It's like, okay, bucket list.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Churchill Downs. Bucket list. Keeneland. It's just getting funner. More fun. Yeah. Oh,
- 4:25Speaker 1: thank you. Yeah. Funner, funner, funnest. It's more fun, more fun,
- 4:30Speaker 1: most fun. Is that right? I guess. Well, you just
- 4:34Speaker 1: corrected me. It's got to be that way. I just
- 4:36Speaker 1: know funner is not a word. Funner. Yeah. More fun.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Then it's got to be most fun. I should know.
- 4:42Speaker 1: I was in English. Wow. Yeah. Shows what you learned.
- 4:48Speaker 1: I learned nothing. So anyway, but it was a fun day.
- 4:53Speaker 1: I will say I was, I didn't get nervous. I
- 4:57Speaker 1: just got anxious. I had a, you know, a lot
- 5:01Speaker 1: of the partners that are in my little partnership were there.
- 5:04Speaker 1: I had a lot of my friends that wanted to go.
- 5:08Speaker 1: So we had probably 25 people there at Churchill. Holy moly. Yeah.
- 5:14Speaker 1: So we had a big, big paddock. and uh and
- 5:18Speaker 1: what's the horse that won a cherie devoe horse so
- 5:21Speaker 1: that's the one i said was gonna win right yeah
- 5:23Speaker 1: that's the one i was saying was gonna win prosecco
- 5:26Speaker 1: oh no that's not the one i said was yeah
- 5:28Speaker 1: yeah i can't remember mine was gold something oh really
- 5:31Speaker 1: no i picked uh prosecco and that's who won so
- 5:34Speaker 1: and good for them but uh Yeah. We had a
- 5:37Speaker 1: big crowd. A lot of my friends were there and
- 5:41Speaker 1: I could not have been happier. So anyway, that's over,
- 5:45Speaker 1: but I, and I can't wait to do it again.
- 5:47Speaker 1: I mean, even if the loss, I was still happy
- 5:51Speaker 1: and having a great time. That's good. It is good.
- 5:54Speaker 1: That's what you're in it for, right? Exactly. And I
- 5:56Speaker 1: think everybody had fun that was associated with me. So
- 5:59Speaker 1: all the connections to cosmic greed. Oh, man. But yeah, we, uh,
- 6:05Speaker 1: we had three tables up there at Churchill downs and
- 6:08Speaker 1: we're just eating, drinking and having a great time. So yeah,
- 6:11Speaker 1: I had, I had a few people come from out
- 6:12Speaker 1: of town. Come on. Yeah. Yeah. So, uh, I was,
- 6:16Speaker 1: I was excited. So, but one of these times you're
- 6:19Speaker 1: going to be able to come, but yeah, we're, we're
- 6:20Speaker 1: looking pointing towards October 24th, which is a Saturday. Are
- 6:24Speaker 1: you ready for this? This is the same Saturday as
- 6:28Speaker 1: UK plays Vanderbilt in Lexington. Oh, you got a decision
- 6:32Speaker 1: to make. So we got to hope for it. No,
- 6:34Speaker 1: there's no decision to make. Sorry, UK football. I'm not coming.
- 6:37Speaker 1: If your game is at noon or three 30, it's
- 6:40Speaker 1: got to be a night game. So I think I
- 6:42Speaker 1: need to call Greg Sankey and say, sorry, sec, my
- 6:47Speaker 1: horse is running October 24th. The Vanderbilt game needs to
- 6:51Speaker 1: be a night game. What are the odds of Not high, right? 0%. Yeah.
- 6:58Speaker 1: If I'm looking at it right now, I'm predicting it's
- 7:00Speaker 1: going to be a noon game. Let's see. They don't
- 7:05Speaker 1: have the time already? No. They don't. No, I doubt it. Look. No,
- 7:09Speaker 1: they don't have it. Yeah, I didn't think so. They
- 7:11Speaker 1: won't have that until a week or two out. So,
- 7:15Speaker 1: but no. I predict, because Vanderbilt is just an okay team,
- 7:19Speaker 1: even though they're 2-0, but they really haven't played anybody. Well,
- 7:22Speaker 1: the good news is... You played Alabama at 3.30. Yes.
- 7:26Speaker 1: You played Texas A & M at 3.30. Right. I mean, 3.30
- 7:30Speaker 1: would allow you to at least go to the second half, right? Yeah, definitely.
- 7:34Speaker 2: I think worse comes to worse, we go for 3.30.
- 7:38Speaker 2: I think it's going to be a noon game. I
- 7:40Speaker 2: hate to tell you, but I wish it was going
- 7:42Speaker 2: to be a 7 o'clock game. Because, you know, that's
- 7:44Speaker 2: the way they scheduled them back in the day. It
- 7:47Speaker 2: was always in October. If UK was on TV, or
- 7:52Speaker 2: it didn't matter if UK was on TV or not,
- 7:55Speaker 2: it was a 7 o'clock game because everybody wanted to
- 7:58Speaker 2: go to Keeneland.
- 8:00Speaker 1: That was the law. There was no qualms about it. October,
- 8:06Speaker 1: 7 o'clock game. Everybody that came into town for the
- 8:12Speaker 1: visiting team, they would go to Keeneland. It's a big weekend.
- 8:15Speaker 1: It's really a shame that SEC didn't really care. And
- 8:19Speaker 1: they're just going to make it whatever time that pleases them. No,
- 8:22Speaker 1: whatever time gets them the most eyeballs on TV. Yeah,
- 8:25Speaker 1: but it's just a shame. It's all about the green. Oh, absolutely.
- 8:29Speaker 1: It's about the green. So it's not about the blue.
- 8:31Speaker 1: It's about the green. That's right. But anyway, it just
- 8:34Speaker 1: kind of sucks. But that's what's going to happen there.
- 8:36Speaker 1: So anyway, I can't wait for it. But I'll be
- 8:39Speaker 1: at the race. I'm hoping it's going to be a doubleheader.
- 8:43Speaker 1: So we'll see. We're going to go there and spend
- 8:45Speaker 1: the entire weekend in Lexington. Okay.
- 8:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Yeah. So it'll be it will be fun. It'll be
- 8:50Speaker 1: a lot of fun. So but we'll just have to
- 8:53Speaker 1: see what happens at that point. But and hopefully Cosmic
- 8:57Speaker 1: Creed runs a better race that day. So, you know,
- 9:00Speaker 1: my other guy, Sovereign Spirit, had a great weekend. He
- 9:03Speaker 1: did a breeze yesterday morning, went in forty seven three
- 9:06Speaker 1: and a half a mile. That's pretty quick. That was quick. Yeah,
- 9:09Speaker 1: he's fast. Just got to get him going through the gate.
- 9:12Speaker 1: That's the only thing. He just has to get his
- 9:14Speaker 1: gate card, and he hasn't done that yet. Come on, buddy.
- 9:17Speaker 1: I know. I dopey just won't do it. So just
- 9:20Speaker 1: to let you know. But anyway. All right. Let's go
- 9:25Speaker 1: ahead and talk about it. Do you want to? Yeah,
- 9:29Speaker 1: I don't mind. Because there are positive things that you
- 9:33Speaker 1: can walk away from that game and be proud of.
- 9:37Speaker 1: I can honestly, because it was clearly the tale of
- 9:40Speaker 1: two halves, right?
- 9:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:43Speaker 1: And the part to me, let's start, we'll start with
- 9:48Speaker 1: the positives. I mean, you got to admit, the fan
- 9:54Speaker 1: base was there in full support. Oh, it was awesome.
- 9:57Speaker 1: They were there early. Mm-hmm. knew the assignment, and that
- 10:02Speaker 1: was be early, take a flask, and wear blue or
- 10:08Speaker 1: white whatever section you're sitting in. It was really cool.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Do we think security checked extra hard for flasks? Nope. Why?
- 10:16Speaker 1: Come on.
- 10:17Speaker 2: I was just curious how many. I was watching that
- 10:19Speaker 2: game on Saturday. I was like, man, I wonder how
- 10:21Speaker 2: many of these people actually was able to get in
- 10:23Speaker 2: a flask.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Right. I bet there was a number of them that did.
- 10:27Speaker 1: They used it as a challenge to go ahead. Okay,
- 10:29Speaker 1: I'm going to see if I can get a flask.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Coach said we could. Exactly. So why can't we? If
- 10:35Speaker 1: Will Stein said we could bring a flask, why can't
- 10:37Speaker 1: I bring a flask? Now, clearly they didn't bring metal ones.
- 10:40Speaker 1: They had to have brought plastic ones. Because, you know,
- 10:43Speaker 1: if you're going through the metal detector, it's going to
- 10:46Speaker 1: all of a sudden buzz like crazy. And it's like, okay, well,
- 10:49Speaker 1: clearly you got something metal in there. Take it out.
- 10:52Speaker 1: I think the one flask that would be great. Because,
- 10:54Speaker 1: you know, there's some really nice flasks out there. If
- 10:58Speaker 1: you made one that looked like an iPhone... You think
- 11:02Speaker 1: they would check that? Probably not. I'm taking an old iPhone,
- 11:06Speaker 1: and I'm going to clear everything out of it and somehow,
- 11:08Speaker 1: someway make it into a flask. I mean, you're not
- 11:11Speaker 1: fitting very much in there. Yeah, but it's better than nothing. Okay,
- 11:14Speaker 1: then I'll have a whole sign of flask, okay? I'll
- 11:17Speaker 1: make my little kids carry flask in, and they won't
- 11:20Speaker 1: know what it is. They'll think it's an iPhone. That
- 11:22Speaker 1: seems illegal. Yeah, son, let me see your iPhone. I
- 11:25Speaker 1: need it for a couple of minutes. And they'll be like,
- 11:27Speaker 1: what the heck are you doing? Anyway. I just, I
- 11:30Speaker 1: don't know. I just think an iPhone would be all right. Well,
- 11:33Speaker 1: but if it's a thicker case though, you can get
- 11:35Speaker 1: a little more in there. Yeah, maybe. And make it
- 11:38Speaker 1: look like it's a thicker case. I mean, you can
- 11:41Speaker 1: definitely get creative with, with putting alcohol on things. Well,
- 11:44Speaker 1: that's what I always enjoyed about the Kentucky Derby for
- 11:47Speaker 1: many years. People, you know, you can never take alcohol
- 11:50Speaker 1: into the infield or Kentucky Derby and how people would
- 11:53Speaker 1: sneak alcohol into the infield wasn't there a time where
- 11:57Speaker 1: they would bring kegs into the infield oh absolutely i
- 12:00Speaker 1: don't know how they did it uh they would uh
- 12:02Speaker 1: they would put hollow out watermelon and then put a
- 12:06Speaker 1: big bottle in there or they would just pour the
- 12:08Speaker 1: entire bottle into the watermelon and then you eat the
- 12:11Speaker 1: watermelon all day uh they would cut out loaves of
- 12:15Speaker 1: bread and put a bottle in there i don't know
- 12:17Speaker 1: some of the sneaky ways people would do stuff was
- 12:20Speaker 1: just awesome my wife always sneaks uh small airline bottles
- 12:25Speaker 1: Into the Yum Center. You said she always does. Like,
- 12:29Speaker 1: it still currently happens. Oh, absolutely it still currently happens. Wow, Patricia, criminal.
- 12:34Speaker 1: So she just puts it in her boots when we're
- 12:36Speaker 1: going to a concert, and she'll sneak it in that way.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Is she a big drinker? Nah, neither of us are.
- 12:43Speaker 1: But you're not sneaking airplane bottles in. No, I don't care. Listen,
- 12:47Speaker 1: I'm going to have a Diet Coke, and I'm happy.
- 12:49Speaker 1: I might have one beer.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Oh, man, speaking of Diet Coke, I was so disappointed
- 12:54Speaker 2: this weekend, Michael. So yesterday I went and had brunch
- 12:57Speaker 2: with my grandparents. And all morning I had to go
- 13:02Speaker 2: to work for a little bit over at the other station.
- 13:04Speaker 2: All morning I'm drinking water and I'm like, man, I
- 13:07Speaker 2: can't wait until brunch. I'm going to have me a Coca-Cola.
- 13:10Speaker 2: It's going to be awesome. So when we get to brunch,
- 13:12Speaker 2: I give me a big old cup and I go
- 13:14Speaker 2: to the fountain and I give me a Coke, get back.
- 13:18Speaker 1: To the table. It is very obviously Diet Coke.
- 13:21Speaker 2: They mixed up the bags on the Coke machine.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Oh my God. I was so disappointed. Really? So I
- 13:28Speaker 1: was drinking Diet Coke yesterday. And you still didn't like it?
- 13:31Speaker 1: I mean, it was okay, but it just wasn't what
- 13:34Speaker 1: I wanted. Yeah. And that's the worst because, you know,
- 13:37Speaker 1: since I've given up sugar for the most part and
- 13:39Speaker 1: I drink a tea... Like yesterday, I went to lunch
- 13:42Speaker 1: at a place, and the guy accidentally brought a sweet tea.
- 13:46Speaker 1: And you take a big old gulp of it, and
- 13:48Speaker 1: you're not expecting it. It's like, oh, my gosh, dude,
- 13:50Speaker 1: I can't drink this. Just like with Diet Coke. When
- 13:53Speaker 1: I first started drinking Diet Coke, it's like, this is
- 13:56Speaker 1: the most disgusting thing ever. I hate it. But then
- 13:59Speaker 1: you get to a point, it's like, ooh, I like this. Well,
- 14:01Speaker 1: I had to hand it to my oppa, because that's
- 14:03Speaker 1: all he drinks is Diet Coke. Oh, really?
- 14:04Speaker 2: And I'm like, hey, can you confirm that this is
- 14:06Speaker 2: Diet Coke? And he takes a drink, and he's like, yeah,
- 14:08Speaker 2: it's Diet Coke.
- 14:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Yeah. I see. I can't go back. I haven't. I
- 14:14Speaker 1: like when we were talking about a big red last week,
- 14:18Speaker 1: I haven't tried diet, big red yet. I don't know. But,
- 14:22Speaker 1: but if I go have a regular big red, it's
- 14:24Speaker 1: way too sweet for me. Try the big red zero.
- 14:27Speaker 1: I'm telling really. Okay. I'll try that. Where can I
- 14:29Speaker 1: go buy that? I don't know where you get gas station. Really?
- 14:33Speaker 1: So the gas station next door has a big red
- 14:35Speaker 1: zero Thornton's. Yep. We don't have to say the name,
- 14:37Speaker 1: but yes. Okay. Well, they sponsor our YouTube. Well, they
- 14:40Speaker 1: sponsor your YouTube stream, not mine. Well, I'm not getting
- 14:44Speaker 1: any paycheck for that. Neither am I. Okay. Well, they
- 14:48Speaker 1: can go. When I get a paycheck, I'll start advertising
- 14:51Speaker 1: for them. But anyway, that's kind of rude, but it's true. Sorry. Well,
- 14:57Speaker 1: not sorry. All right. Let's talk about the game. The
- 15:00Speaker 1: good parts. Fans showed up, fans were early, and fans
- 15:06Speaker 1: wore their outfits. Stripe Out looked awesome. Yeah, it really did,
- 15:09Speaker 1: from the air, look really good. From all the pictures
- 15:13Speaker 1: I saw, I loved it.
- 15:15Speaker 2: I do wish, I said this on my show this morning,
- 15:17Speaker 2: instead of making the whole end zone white, I would
- 15:19Speaker 2: have liked to have seen a blue stripe up it
- 15:22Speaker 2: to kind of separate it a little bit more, but
- 15:24Speaker 2: that's just a very little complaint.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Yeah. I can understand that. I wouldn't disagree with that,
- 15:30Speaker 1: but that'd be hard to do. But the blue white chance.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. Those were so loud. Loudest I've heard
- 15:37Speaker 1: Commonwealth stadium. Just going to tell you right now, that
- 15:39Speaker 1: is the loudest I've heard when, when, when, when the
- 15:42Speaker 1: interception happened right there, it was like, oh my gosh,
- 15:46Speaker 1: this is going to be a fun game. And, uh,
- 15:50Speaker 1: You know, Kentucky's up. Kentucky's, the offense is rolling. The
- 15:54Speaker 1: defense is even better. And then the second half happens.
- 16:01Speaker 1: And you look at this. Here's the problem. Zero points
- 16:06Speaker 1: second half. I mean, I don't understand that. 62 yards
- 16:10Speaker 1: of offense in the second half. Two yards of rushing.
- 16:15Speaker 1: And then UK allowed 32 points in the second half.
- 16:20Speaker 1: They had first downs three, third down conversion zero. I mean,
- 16:25Speaker 1: I really thought, Justin, the offense was going to be good.
- 16:31Speaker 1: After watching the offense play against Youngstown State, it's like,
- 16:35Speaker 1: what happened? It's just like the tale of two games. I,
- 16:39Speaker 1: and I didn't get that, but you know, you look
- 16:42Speaker 1: at Alabama secondary, I can tell you right now, and
- 16:46Speaker 1: I've confirmed it with a couple of other guys, Alabama secondary,
- 16:50Speaker 1: every one of those guys is going to be playing
- 16:53Speaker 1: in the NFL. They're going to be playing Sundays. That
- 16:56Speaker 1: was a problem right there. Uh, uh, the, the, I
- 17:02Speaker 1: just want to stay positive. I'm trying my best to
- 17:04Speaker 1: stay positive. The atmosphere was incredible. I mean, why shouldn't
- 17:07Speaker 1: you stay positive? It's a game going in that I
- 17:11Speaker 1: know that was a trendy upset pick, and there were
- 17:14Speaker 1: people picking Kentucky to beat Alabama.
- 17:16Speaker 2: Kirk Herbstreit picked them to win. But realistically, you couldn't
- 17:20Speaker 2: have been going into that game expecting it.
- 17:22Speaker 1: No, not at all. I didn't, but it was fun.
- 17:25Speaker 1: But I thought when I saw that interception, and UK
- 17:27Speaker 1: played the way they did at the first half, I
- 17:29Speaker 1: was like, okay, I've got hope. Mm-hmm. And I let
- 17:31Speaker 1: my heart get into this game and this team.
- 17:33Speaker 2: But if Kenny doesn't throw that pick six, it could
- 17:38Speaker 2: potentially be a different game.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Absolutely. I just thought, okay, this is not just a
- 17:45Speaker 1: basketball school. This is a school that wants football to succeed.
- 17:50Speaker 1: And I don't know. The walkout was cool. The way
- 17:58Speaker 1: Will Stein, it took him a while, but I don't
- 18:00Speaker 1: know if you saw that on TV or not. That
- 18:03Speaker 1: was pretty cool. I didn't see that. Yeah. Why did
- 18:06Speaker 1: it take him a while? I don't know. It just,
- 18:08Speaker 1: for a long time, they were coming out there. Did
- 18:11Speaker 1: you like the singer, Wynonna Judd, and the drum playing
- 18:18Speaker 1: the national anthem? Yeah, I had no problem. Did you really?
- 18:20Speaker 1: I actually thought it was pretty good, yeah. Did you?
- 18:22Speaker 1: I thought it was... It was unique, okay? Wasn't my style.
- 18:28Speaker 1: I mean, it's not my style either, but I thought
- 18:29Speaker 1: it was good. Yeah. But the secondary for Alabama just
- 18:35Speaker 1: locked up Menchie. I mean, he could not throw the
- 18:37Speaker 1: ball down the field. I mean, those players are just
- 18:41Speaker 1: elite players.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Is it one of those things where there was trepidation
- 18:44Speaker 2: on his side of things because of that pick six?
- 18:47Speaker 1: Maybe so. I don't know, but you got to figure
- 18:50Speaker 1: a way to get over that. I mean, the UK
- 18:52Speaker 1: receivers only had six catches. In 31 passes. And Kenneth
- 18:57Speaker 1: Darby had five of the six.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Everybody was really high on Darby.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Yeah. That kid's going to be awesome. It goes back
- 19:07Speaker 1: to my point that we talked about last week. UK
- 19:09Speaker 1: has to figure a way to keep him.
- 19:12Speaker 3: Because.
- 19:13Speaker 1: There's your future right there. Isn't that sad that that's
- 19:15Speaker 1: what we have to talk about? Yeah. Kid's a freshman,
- 19:18Speaker 1: and we already have to discuss, well, you got to
- 19:20Speaker 1: keep him. Oh, yeah. Back in the day, I mean,
- 19:23Speaker 1: you were going to keep him for at least three years. Exactly.
- 19:26Speaker 1: And now you're not. It's going to be every year
- 19:28Speaker 1: somebody's going to want him. And the better he gets,
- 19:31Speaker 1: the bigger the price gets, too. But, you know, the
- 19:35Speaker 1: second half was just the complete opposite of the first.
- 19:37Speaker 1: UK's offense had zero ability to move the ball. And
- 19:41Speaker 1: I don't get it. Will Stein said after the game,
- 19:44Speaker 1: the looks we saw in the second half, we weren't
- 19:48Speaker 1: prepared for it. That kind of. worried me a little bit.
- 19:52Speaker 1: And quite honestly, it really showed that they weren't prepared
- 19:55Speaker 1: for it. Menchie didn't play well, and neither did the receivers.
- 20:00Speaker 1: Offensive line in the second half did not protect. And
- 20:03Speaker 1: a lot of it, I think, is because they were
- 20:05Speaker 1: just exhausted. And that's the other part I want to
- 20:09Speaker 1: talk about when we come back from break. Because clearly
- 20:13Speaker 1: it shows, and this is one thing Will Stein has
- 20:16Speaker 1: said before the season started, not much depth to this team.
- 20:21Speaker 1: And it clearly showed in the second half. So stay
- 20:24Speaker 1: right there. We're going to take a break. 502-384-1450 if
- 20:28Speaker 1: you want to call in. 502-414-1450 on the Whiskey Thief
- 20:32Speaker 1: text line. We'll get to your texts as well. Or
- 20:35Speaker 1: you can tweet me at JustTheCatRadio. We got a lot
- 20:37Speaker 1: more to talk about. Yeah, it's a loss. But, you know,
- 20:41Speaker 1: it was still fun. It was still fun in many ways.
- 20:45Speaker 1: We'll talk about that more. Stay right there, more JustTheCat.
- 20:47Speaker 1: We'll talk about it more. I never knew.
- 21:02Speaker 2: I never knew that everything was falling through.
- 21:07Speaker 3: That everyone I knew was waiting on a cue to
- 21:11Speaker 3: turn and run when.
- 21:13Speaker 1: All I needed was the truth.
- 21:16Speaker 3: That's how it's gotta be. It's coming down to nothing
- 21:21Speaker 3: more than apathy.
- 21:23Speaker 1: I'd rather run the.
- 21:25Speaker 3: Other way than staying safe.
- 21:27Speaker 4: The smoke is too Everyone knows I'm in over my head,
- 21:45Speaker 4: over my head.
- 21:46Speaker 3: 502-384-1450.
- 21:46Speaker 1: You want to call in 502-414-1450. You want to text
- 21:48Speaker 1: in on the Whiskey Thief text line. You can tweet
- 21:50Speaker 1: me at just the cat radio. So we're talking about
- 21:53Speaker 1: the depth. You know, Will Stein had said before the
- 21:56Speaker 1: season started, that was one of his concerns. And honestly, Justin,
- 22:01Speaker 1: It really proved to be true on Saturday. I mean,
- 22:06Speaker 1: the offensive line was exhausted. Yeah, and you could see it.
- 22:10Speaker 2: I mean, there were a lot of hands on hips,
- 22:12Speaker 2: hands on knees. Fatigue definitely felt like it played a
- 22:15Speaker 2: factor in that second half. But here's the thing. It's
- 22:18Speaker 2: the second game of the season.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:21Speaker 2: I don't know that you should have seen fatigue play
- 22:24Speaker 2: a factor in a second game of the season.
- 22:27Speaker 1: That's what worries me. Yeah, guys were getting to the
- 22:29Speaker 1: quarterback with ease. They were putting secondary blitzes in, and
- 22:34Speaker 1: no one was able to stop Alabama's defense. I mean,
- 22:39Speaker 1: UK had no rhythm in the second half. I mean, zero.
- 22:43Speaker 1: What's that? That's fair to say. Once Alabama scored to
- 22:46Speaker 1: go up 23-17, you kind of knew what the outcome
- 22:50Speaker 1: was going to be at that point. I mean, at
- 22:52Speaker 1: least I did. Maybe that's not true for everybody. Did
- 22:55Speaker 1: you like the fake punt decision by Will Stein? A
- 23:00Speaker 1: lot of people have been talking about that. In that spot, no. Oh,
- 23:03Speaker 1: you did not? I did.
- 23:05Speaker 2: I mean, I like the aggressiveness, but in that spot
- 23:09Speaker 2: in the game, no, I didn't like it.
- 23:12Speaker 1: It almost felt like how mummy-esque, because that's what how
- 23:16Speaker 1: mummy would have done. Yeah. And he did it all
- 23:18Speaker 1: the time. I remember a game down in Knoxville. It's
- 23:22Speaker 1: like fourth and 15 or 20 or something on UK's
- 23:30Speaker 1: own 30-yard line and how money went for it. It
- 23:34Speaker 1: is like, this is awesome. No, I like the decision
- 23:37Speaker 1: for Will Stein to go for it there. Because, listen,
- 23:40Speaker 1: his explanation, I'm here to win. That's what I want
- 23:44Speaker 1: this team to do. His team is there to win.
- 23:48Speaker 1: And I like that idea.
- 23:50Speaker 2: I mean, I'm not against that mindset, but to win,
- 23:54Speaker 2: sometimes you got to play the field possession game.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, the lack of depth is absolutely apparent. UK,
- 24:02Speaker 1: they just can't rotate the offensive line like they would
- 24:06Speaker 1: like to. And that was one of the things that
- 24:08Speaker 1: John Schleierman was so famous with. That's how he established
- 24:12Speaker 1: the big blue wall. Because he had enough players that
- 24:16Speaker 1: it didn't matter who was going to start or not.
- 24:18Speaker 1: You knew you were going to play a lot of minutes.
- 24:20Speaker 1: So wasn't that the case coming into this year? You
- 24:22Speaker 1: thought so. But what happened with that? They just don't
- 24:27Speaker 1: have the players. They just don't have the big beef
- 24:30Speaker 1: up front. That we thought, or that they thought. I
- 24:33Speaker 1: don't know. But the five starters on the O-line have
- 24:36Speaker 1: to play the entire game. But they were worn out.
- 24:40Speaker 1: Because anybody else that would come in, they were just okay.
- 24:45Speaker 1: The defense just wore out. I mean, you got the
- 24:48Speaker 1: kicking game. Stein thought we would have an edge in
- 24:55Speaker 1: the kicking game. And we clearly did not. I mean,
- 24:58Speaker 1: the long punt was 46 yards, and then the other
- 25:02Speaker 1: two punts were just a little over 30 yards. Not good.
- 25:07Speaker 1: They didn't flip the field. You've got to be able,
- 25:09Speaker 1: in the punting aspect of it, you've got to be
- 25:11Speaker 1: able to flip the field. That was a problem. I mean,
- 25:16Speaker 1: are we still excited and optimistic about Will Stein? Absolutely.
- 25:22Speaker 1: I hope so. I am. Exactly. Well, you say absolutely. Absolutely. Okay, good.
- 25:28Speaker 2: I would say 98% of Kentucky fans are still very
- 25:32Speaker 2: excited and hopeful of what Will.
- 25:33Speaker 1: Sine can do.
- 25:34Speaker 2: Because a game like this shouldn't change your mindset.
- 25:38Speaker 1: I hope not. I really do. Was it frustrating as
- 25:42Speaker 1: all get out? Sure. But should it change your overall
- 25:45Speaker 1: big picture? No. UK's first string is.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Competitive against Alabama. Our second string, clearly there's a big gap,
- 25:57Speaker 1: and that hurt us on Saturday. Rushing yards has to change.
- 26:02Speaker 1: The Cats averaged two yards of rushing. 32 attempts that
- 26:08Speaker 1: gave the Cats 63 yards. You can't win games that way. Yeah. Anyway,
- 26:18Speaker 1: but that's it. I don't know what else to say
- 26:21Speaker 1: about the game. I mean, it truly was fun that
- 26:24Speaker 1: first half. That's the kind of environment that I want
- 26:29Speaker 1: UK football to have every single game. And I love
- 26:34Speaker 1: that the fans, everything that Will Stein asked for, I
- 26:38Speaker 1: feel like the fans gave. Absolutely. And I feel like
- 26:41Speaker 1: Will Stein was sincere and apologetic after the game. He
- 26:46Speaker 1: just felt bad about this. He felt like he could win.
- 26:50Speaker 1: He brings that, like I was talking to somebody last
- 26:52Speaker 1: night that was just down and out about UK football
- 26:57Speaker 1: because they believed in it. They thought this is going
- 27:01Speaker 1: to be it. It's like, well, it is going to
- 27:03Speaker 1: be it. And I mean, what do you want your
- 27:07Speaker 1: coach to say? Well, we're not very good. We're going
- 27:09Speaker 1: to get out there. I hope we do something good. No,
- 27:12Speaker 1: I want Will Stein out there saying exactly what he's saying.
- 27:16Speaker 1: I really do. And the fact that he said, bring
- 27:19Speaker 1: a flask in, don't leave your seat, all that stuff.
- 27:22Speaker 1: There are a few fans out there that were criticizing
- 27:24Speaker 1: all that. It's like, what do you want him to say?
- 27:27Speaker 1: I mean, I want that positive energy and that positive outlook.
- 27:32Speaker 1: I want my coach to believe he's going to win
- 27:34Speaker 1: every game. I mean, yeah. Why would you not? I mean,
- 27:37Speaker 1: you got that with Indiana Kirk Cignetti. Yeah. I mean,
- 27:41Speaker 1: what if he came to Indiana and says, yeah, I
- 27:43Speaker 1: don't know. I mean, I'm going to try it here
- 27:45Speaker 1: for a little while. Hopefully we're pretty good. No, I mean,
- 27:48Speaker 1: you want, these players are buying into Will Stein and
- 27:52Speaker 1: I think they continue. We'll continue to do that. Now
- 27:56Speaker 1: it's a long season. Doesn't get easier this week. No,
- 28:00Speaker 1: it doesn't get any easier this week, and we'll talk
- 28:02Speaker 1: about that in a little bit. But, I mean, it's
- 28:04Speaker 1: just I want that kind of coach that talks that way. Otherwise,
- 28:12Speaker 1: you won't have any kind of positive outlook. I think
- 28:15Speaker 1: there's still a game out there, Justin, that they're going
- 28:17Speaker 1: to upset somebody. Oh, yeah, no doubt about it. So,
- 28:21Speaker 1: all right. I believe that wholeheartedly. Do you really? So
- 28:23Speaker 1: do I. I mean, I certainly believe it and I
- 28:26Speaker 1: look forward to it. I don't know if it's going
- 28:28Speaker 1: to be a top 10 team per se, but. Probably not.
- 28:31Speaker 1: It'll be a T. It'll be a game there of
- 28:33Speaker 1: the underdog. But, well, there's going to be a lot
- 28:36Speaker 1: of games there of the underdog. So let's just face
- 28:38Speaker 1: that fact right now. And that's not going to change.
- 28:41Speaker 1: All right. Let's go to the Whiskey Thief text line.
- 28:43Speaker 3: 502-414-1450.
- 28:43Speaker 1: John here. Hey, Michael. we will be all right. Kentucky
- 28:49Speaker 1: football does not have a quarterback problem or a coaching problem.
- 28:52Speaker 1: We have a depth and fatigue problem. Coach Stein and
- 28:55Speaker 1: Kenny Minchie can still be great at Kentucky. Also, six
- 28:59Speaker 1: wins or more are still on the table for our
- 29:01Speaker 1: cats this season. Also, my Chiefs will be victorious tonight. Okay,
- 29:07Speaker 1: we'll talk about that in a little bit. But, John, listen,
- 29:11Speaker 1: I really like you, but did I know he was
- 29:15Speaker 1: a Chiefs fan, Justin? Yeah. I mean, I never knew that. Okay, sorry.
- 29:22Speaker 1: It's just a joke, okay? John, please don't get upset
- 29:24Speaker 1: with me.
- 29:26Speaker 2: By the way, so one of the reasons you don't
- 29:28Speaker 2: like the Chiefs is because of Taylor Swift and that
- 29:31Speaker 2: whole thing.
- 29:31Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Get ready for Madison Beer. Justin Herbert's girlfriend
- 29:36Speaker 1: or wife, whatever she is. I have no idea who
- 29:38Speaker 1: that is. They are going to show her a million
- 29:40Speaker 1: times this year. For the Chargers. Why? Just get ready. Really?
- 29:45Speaker 1: Because she's good looking. Oh, really? So we're going to
- 29:48Speaker 1: get Brent Musburger doing some games and getting all creepy? Maybe.
- 29:52Speaker 1: I hope not. Is he still announcing, by the way?
- 29:54Speaker 1: I don't think so. So he's done? Okay. Pretty sure. Yeah, yeah.
- 29:58Speaker 1: I'm not trying to cut on them or anything, but
- 30:02Speaker 1: let's see here. Michael, I'm not taking aside, but a
- 30:05Speaker 1: lot of the protests towards the banks. No, that's from
- 30:08Speaker 1: last week. Sorry about that. Questions and a thought. When
- 30:12Speaker 1: are you guys going to start the MBJK syndicate for listeners? Yeah,
- 30:19Speaker 1: I agree. How would that work? It'd be all listener driven.
- 30:25Speaker 1: How would I be able to, I mean, what do
- 30:28Speaker 1: listeners have to pay? They have to fund it all. Yeah.
- 30:33Speaker 1: I mean, that's an expensive take there. I'd be happy
- 30:36Speaker 1: to go get, because this is the part I like.
- 30:40Speaker 1: With me and my little syndicate, I go by bargain.
- 30:44Speaker 1: I don't go buy real expensive. Hopefully one day I
- 30:47Speaker 1: can buy some expensive ones, but I still think there
- 30:49Speaker 1: is a factor out there that you can go buy
- 30:51Speaker 1: horses for a good price. What's the cheapest one you've
- 30:55Speaker 1: ever seen? The cheapest one I've ever seen? What do
- 30:58Speaker 1: you mean? At an auction? Yeah. Oh, $ 1, 000. $ 1, 000? $ 1, 000. Yeah,
- 31:03Speaker 1: I think our listeners can manage that. No, we're not
- 31:05Speaker 1: doing that. Why? Because the problem with that horse is
- 31:10Speaker 1: that it's probably got a lot of injuries. And no pedigree.
- 31:13Speaker 1: So you don't want to buy a horse that already
- 31:15Speaker 1: has pre-existing injuries. I think the least expensive horse that
- 31:19Speaker 1: you should buy that you look at that could possibly
- 31:22Speaker 1: have a shot is around $ 30, 000, $ 40, 000. Yikes. I know,
- 31:24Speaker 1: and that's not much money in horse racing. I don't
- 31:29Speaker 1: know if we could raise that. Oh, we could try.
- 31:31Speaker 1: If you want to do that, Texter, you can just
- 31:36Speaker 1: get on my website. You can reach out to me
- 31:37Speaker 1: through DM, and I'll be happy to figure something out.
- 31:42Speaker 1: I thought after the game is at least the offense
- 31:47Speaker 1: is more creative. There is still just a large talent gap. Yeah,
- 31:52Speaker 1: I agree with you because I think that one of
- 31:55Speaker 1: the great minds right now in offense is definitely Will Steiner.
- 31:59Speaker 1: And I'm sure he's putting his signature on a lot
- 32:03Speaker 1: of this right here. But you've got to get receivers open.
- 32:07Speaker 1: And these receivers just could not get open, with the
- 32:09Speaker 1: exception of Darby. That was the only one. And, again,
- 32:13Speaker 1: we are looking at NFL caliber secondary out there. So
- 32:18Speaker 1: it just made it tough. And I'm like John. I
- 32:22Speaker 1: still believe in this offense. I still believe in this team.
- 32:26Speaker 1: I still believe that we're going to have some fun
- 32:28Speaker 1: with this offense. It's just going to take a little
- 32:31Speaker 1: more time. The sad part about it is that normally
- 32:34Speaker 1: back in the day, you'd have two or three games
- 32:36Speaker 1: to warm up before you had your first SEC. Right
- 32:39Speaker 1: out of the bat, we have one game, and then boom,
- 32:41Speaker 1: we're in the SEC. That makes it tough. It would
- 32:44Speaker 1: have been nice if maybe we'd played Vanderbilt or somebody
- 32:49Speaker 1: else other than Alabama. So anyway, uh, you just had
- 32:54Speaker 1: that tough one, but yeah, I'd be happy to talk
- 32:56Speaker 1: to you about, let's do a syndicate for the listeners. I, I, I,
- 33:00Speaker 1: it'd be tough to do, but I think we could
- 33:02Speaker 1: do it. Um, is that a Glen Oaks shirt, Michael?
- 33:07Speaker 1: They're watching me on YouTube. Okay. Uh, so that's a
- 33:12Speaker 1: great question. Uh, no, it is not. It says harmony landing.
- 33:17Speaker 1: So I'm a member at a big spring harmony landing.
- 33:20Speaker 1: So no, this is a, uh, Harmony landing on my
- 33:23Speaker 1: sleeve right there. So, yeah, that's my other club. UK
- 33:27Speaker 1: looks better than I expected and thinks Stein will unfortunately
- 33:31Speaker 1: do well there. Be crazy if Louisville, UK, IU became
- 33:36Speaker 1: known as the golden triangle of football instead of basketball
- 33:39Speaker 1: like it has been historically. That would be awesome. Would
- 33:42Speaker 1: be awesome. Yeah. I just want UofL to play some
- 33:46Speaker 1: tougher schedules, okay? That's the only thing. I mean, you
- 33:49Speaker 1: and I were talking about it at the break. You
- 33:51Speaker 1: mean Indiana. No, no, no, no. UofL. Oh, Indiana too.
- 33:54Speaker 1: UofL's not playing a tough schedule. Because they're in the ACC. Exactly.
- 33:59Speaker 1: So they got to get some. Granted, I respect them
- 34:02Speaker 1: for playing Ole Miss. But that shows you that they
- 34:05Speaker 1: were competitive against Ole Miss. But play some tougher teams
- 34:09Speaker 1: in the SEC too. Indiana has a fairly light schedule
- 34:15Speaker 1: this year, don't they? They do play Ohio State. Do
- 34:18Speaker 1: they play Michigan? We do play Michigan. Okay.
- 34:21Speaker 2: We play Washington and USC, who are both also top 25.
- 34:25Speaker 1: Okay, there you go. So that's a pretty... But the
- 34:28Speaker 1: non-conference has been a joke. Yeah. Although, North Texas, who
- 34:32Speaker 1: we beat in the first week, 52-16? Yeah. Can't remember
- 34:35Speaker 1: who they came out and beat this week, but they
- 34:37Speaker 1: won 44-6. Holy cow. So I think North Texas might
- 34:41Speaker 1: actually be good. Really?
- 34:42Speaker 3: Okay.
- 34:43Speaker 1: Okay. All right, we're going to take another break. 502-384-1450, 502-414-1450.
- 34:49Speaker 1: Thanks about asking my shirt right here. I don't know.
- 34:52Speaker 1: I don't know what Glen Oaks looks like, their whatever, logo. But, no,
- 34:57Speaker 1: it says Harmony Landing right there. But I like this shirt.
- 35:00Speaker 1: It's a Peter Millar. Can I advertise for them?
- 35:03Speaker 2: Sure.
- 35:03Speaker 1: I mean, I think they make the greatest golf shirts
- 35:07Speaker 1: in the world. They were the most comfortable. Do you
- 35:09Speaker 1: have any Peter Millar shirts? I don't think so. They're expensive,
- 35:12Speaker 1: number one. Now I definitely say I don't. Well, here's
- 35:16Speaker 1: what I do. You know what I do? I go
- 35:18Speaker 1: to the cell rack at the club. Yeah. And I
- 35:22Speaker 1: can sometimes get these things for 30, 40, and 50% off.
- 35:26Speaker 1: There have been times I've bought these things for 50% off.
- 35:30Speaker 1: That's what you do. So, yeah, I don't pay full price,
- 35:34Speaker 1: but I'm too cheap to do that. But anyway, yeah,
- 35:37Speaker 1: thanks for asking me if this is a Glen Oak shirt.
- 35:39Speaker 1: All right, we'll get back to your text as soon
- 35:40Speaker 1: as we get back as well. And I do want
- 35:43Speaker 1: to talk a little bit about Indiana's game as well
- 35:46Speaker 1: as Missouri head coach Eli who? Dorko. Exactly. What did
- 35:52Speaker 1: he do Friday? Dude, just go coach your game. We'll
- 35:55Speaker 1: see you in a minute. This is Jessica.
- 35:56Speaker 4: We'll see you in a minute.
- 36:27Speaker 3: Chances are when said and done, who'll be the lucky
- 36:31Speaker 3: ones who make it all the way? Though you say
- 36:39Speaker 3: I could be your answer, nothing lasts forever, no matter
- 36:45Speaker 3: how it.
- 37:07Speaker 1: All right, so UK's got Texas A & M this Saturday.
- 37:11Speaker 1: Have you seen the spread for this one, speaking of chances? Oh,
- 37:14Speaker 1: I have not. Yeah, 16.5 to 17 point spread right there. Yeesh. Yeah, exactly.
- 37:19Speaker 1: A lot of things got to change, but man, and
- 37:25Speaker 1: Texas A & M looked pretty good this weekend. But anyway,
- 37:28Speaker 1: it's just... man. I mean, to the land of creepy cheerleaders, but, uh,
- 37:35Speaker 1: can I say that? I'm sorry. I did. I know.
- 37:39Speaker 1: Sorry about that. Uh, one person texted and says, you
- 37:41Speaker 1: can't run stoops out for offense and netness and not
- 37:45Speaker 1: see the same thing Saturday. Don't sustain drives and leave
- 37:49Speaker 1: the defense on the field. The majority of the game.
- 37:52Speaker 1: I couldn't agree more. But, you know, that whole regime
- 37:56Speaker 1: is gone now. So you can't blame Jay Blatt for this.
- 38:02Speaker 1: I don't know if I would say the offense on
- 38:03Speaker 1: Saturday was inept. They were the second half.
- 38:07Speaker 2: They were definitely inept.
- 38:10Speaker 1: There was no rushing yards. I can get behind that.
- 38:14Speaker 2: But, I mean, the first half was a lot of fun.
- 38:17Speaker 1: You can't say that. Yeah, I can get behind that. Yeah,
- 38:21Speaker 1: the first half was a lot of fun. I'm not
- 38:23Speaker 1: going to deny that at all. I see glimpses of
- 38:26Speaker 1: greatness for this team. I see glimpses of greatness for
- 38:29Speaker 1: this coaching staff. You just got to extend it. And
- 38:34Speaker 1: Will Stein will readily admit it. I mean, he genuinely,
- 38:37Speaker 1: if you watch the post-game interview after the game, he
- 38:41Speaker 1: genuinely felt bad because he knew he got the fan
- 38:46Speaker 1: base all hyped up for this game. They did everything
- 38:50Speaker 1: he asked. I'm going to repeat myself for the 45th time.
- 38:54Speaker 1: They did. The fan base did everything. And I think
- 38:58Speaker 1: Will Stein legitimately felt bad about this. And I think
- 39:03Speaker 1: I'm pretty confident it'll improve. So I understand, Texter. You're upset.
- 39:08Speaker 1: And you should be. You cannot run a former coach
- 39:11Speaker 1: out of here and see the same type of play.
- 39:16Speaker 1: could not agree more but this is a brand new
- 39:18Speaker 1: team a brand new coaching but at least the offense
- 39:20Speaker 1: has exciting moments where under stoops I don't feel like
- 39:24Speaker 1: you got that all that all you hadn't gotten in
- 39:26Speaker 1: a few years you just had so i mean would
- 39:30Speaker 1: stoops have gone for the fake punt no probably not
- 39:34Speaker 1: because he was so freaking conservative wouldn't have even thought
- 39:36Speaker 1: about no I still like the call. I just do.
- 39:40Speaker 1: I like the call. And I don't want that to change.
- 39:44Speaker 1: And I love the reasoning behind it because I want
- 39:47Speaker 1: my team here to win. I want to put them
- 39:49Speaker 1: in a place to win, and that's what I did.
- 39:52Speaker 1: He stuck behind it. Now, is he an analytical coach,
- 39:57Speaker 1: Will Stein? Somewhat, but then sometimes he doesn't go with analytics.
- 40:02Speaker 1: I like that. You can't rely just on analytics alone.
- 40:05Speaker 2: Agreed.
- 40:07Speaker 1: So, anyway. I'm right there with you. Michelle texted out
- 40:11Speaker 1: and said, Justice, are you losing weight? I've lost probably
- 40:15Speaker 1: 22 pounds, yeah. Are you serious? Yeah. My name's Justin, though.
- 40:20Speaker 1: What did I say? She wrote Justice. Oh, she did
- 40:23Speaker 1: write Justice. Justice Justin. Lost about 22 pounds. Thanks for noticing, Michelle.
- 40:29Speaker 1: Are you now Justice of the Peace? I mean, is
- 40:31Speaker 1: that what it is? I don't want to be that.
- 40:33Speaker 1: Maybe we should just call you Justice. That's your nickname, Justice.
- 40:37Speaker 1: I know a kid named Justice. I don't want to
- 40:39Speaker 1: be called that. Oh, you don't care for your kid?
- 40:41Speaker 1: He's an all right kid. He's a punk? Not really. Oh, okay.
- 40:45Speaker 2: Just don't want to share my name with him. It's
- 40:47Speaker 2: like yesterday. I was talking to my grandparents. I have
- 40:49Speaker 2: a cousin who's supposed to have a baby in the
- 40:52Speaker 2: middle of October. My birthday is October 15th. And I
- 40:55Speaker 2: made the statement that I hope it's not born on
- 40:57Speaker 2: my birthday. And they're like, what? And I'm like, yeah,
- 41:00Speaker 2: I don't want to share my birthday with anybody. My
- 41:02Speaker 2: grandma was like, that's so selfish.
- 41:04Speaker 1: It is selfish. I was like, that's just how I feel.
- 41:06Speaker 1: Why not have a big party? No, I don't want
- 41:09Speaker 1: to share my birthday. Okay. Wow. It's all about justice.
- 41:17Speaker 1: Kalen on October 15th. I mean, that's when you act
- 41:21Speaker 1: like that, you are justice. Okay. Just to let you know, Justy,
- 41:25Speaker 1: but I mean, come on, man. Other kids got to
- 41:28Speaker 1: be born. It's going to be October 15th. Wow. I
- 41:32Speaker 1: just don't want it to be shared with anybody. I know.
- 41:35Speaker 1: I want all the limelight. Man, your grandparents are right. Wow. Okay. Uh,
- 41:44Speaker 1: let me get to a couple here. 48 Handley said, uh,
- 41:48Speaker 1: Didn't see the game, but Baker is missing Mike Evans. Yeah,
- 41:51Speaker 1: he is, without a doubt. And it was clearly shown yesterday.
- 41:57Speaker 1: I ran into Musburger down at the men's health clinic.
- 42:00Speaker 1: No way. No way. That'd be awesome if that was
- 42:08Speaker 1: actually true. And he ran into the former Alabama quarterback's
- 42:12Speaker 1: girlfriend there, too.
- 42:13Speaker 2: By the way, 48 Handley was in a horse racing
- 42:16Speaker 2: challenge this weekend.
- 42:17Speaker 1: Yes. With 88 people. Oh, wow. He got sixth place.
- 42:21Speaker 1: Did he really? And didn't get any money. Isn't that
- 42:23Speaker 1: a crime? What? Sixth place and you got no money?
- 42:26Speaker 1: How do you get sixth out of 88 and not
- 42:28Speaker 1: get paid? Yeah. That's ridiculous. Yeah. I couldn't agree more.
- 42:33Speaker 1: Who got paid, the first five people? I'm assuming. You
- 42:36Speaker 1: should get something for that when you're in sixth place.
- 42:39Speaker 1: The top ten of 88 people should get something. Even
- 42:42Speaker 1: if it's just a little bit. Let them have a
- 42:45Speaker 1: little something. By the way, it's being given a little bit.
- 42:48Speaker 1: Did you see where Bill Belichick's girlfriend, Jordan, what's her name? Hudson. Hudson,
- 42:54Speaker 1: getting a lot of criticism because she's on the field
- 42:58Speaker 1: in the middle of the game. Are we getting a
- 43:01Speaker 1: little fatigued by her? No, because we haven't heard anything
- 43:05Speaker 1: about her in months. Really? Actually, that fatigue has died
- 43:09Speaker 1: off a lot. Well, the North Carolina fan base was
- 43:13Speaker 1: really criticizing. Because why is she? I agree with this.
- 43:18Speaker 1: Isn't she on the staff in some capacity? Like a
- 43:21Speaker 1: social media type job or something like that? I can't
- 43:24Speaker 1: remember what. I don't remember. But this is a conflict
- 43:27Speaker 1: of interest. Let's just go ahead and say it. And
- 43:30Speaker 1: it's North Carolina football. Who cares? Well, the Tar Heel
- 43:34Speaker 1: fan base does. So, and basketball's right around the corner.
- 43:38Speaker 1: You dorks. You really dislike North Carolina football. Evidently North
- 43:45Speaker 1: Carolina in general. I'm just, I mean, goodness, who cares?
- 43:49Speaker 1: You get it's football. Y'all aren't ever going to be
- 43:51Speaker 1: any good. It's cool. You really think that? Yeah. Okay.
- 43:57Speaker 1: I hope you're right. But, uh, I don't know. I'm
- 43:59Speaker 1: not convinced of that. One person texted out, Michael needs
- 44:03Speaker 1: a hand pouch like the quarterbacks wear this morning. Enjoy
- 44:07Speaker 1: the weather before the 90s return. That's not a bad idea.
- 44:11Speaker 1: I'd take a hand pouch about now.
- 44:13Speaker 2: It's going to be real hot the rest of the week.
- 44:14Speaker 1: Where's the beef? Why is he asking where's the beef?
- 44:17Speaker 1: Great question.
- 44:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:20Speaker 1: You can buy a horse for $ 1, 000? Yes, you can
- 44:23Speaker 1: at an auction. When no one wants to buy it,
- 44:26Speaker 1: they can't sell it for anything less than $ 1, 000. They
- 44:29Speaker 1: can't sell it for less? Correct. It has to be
- 44:32Speaker 1: at least $ 1, 000. And there are times when people just
- 44:35Speaker 1: don't buy the horse. So clearly something is wrong with it.
- 44:40Speaker 1: And you got to go see what is wrong with it. Sheesh,
- 44:44Speaker 1: you can't buy a popular breed of dog for that nowadays. Well,
- 44:48Speaker 1: I mean, it... when you buy the horse, that's where
- 44:51Speaker 1: the expenses start. Trust me. The expenses are everything after that.
- 44:56Speaker 1: It's not the price of the horse at auction. People think,
- 44:59Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, that's expensive. Well, wait till you start
- 45:02Speaker 1: paying the monthly bills. I mean, I I'm paying probably over, uh,
- 45:12Speaker 1: over 15, $ 16, 000 a month on horses. Yeah. It's, it's expensive.
- 45:16Speaker 1: It's a, it's an, Halfway decent car every single month.
- 45:19Speaker 1: Did you intentionally skip over his booze text? I haven't
- 45:23Speaker 1: gotten to it yet. You skipped it. I did? Oh,
- 45:27Speaker 1: I didn't see that. Okay. Best way to sneak in
- 45:29Speaker 1: booze is getting some pouches and place them inside bras.
- 45:34Speaker 1: Have women walking around looking like dollies. Oh, that's a
- 45:37Speaker 1: great idea. Looking like dolly to be alcohol mules. That's
- 45:42Speaker 1: a fantastic idea. But don't you need a rather... less
- 45:47Speaker 1: chesty type woman i don't know how i feel about
- 45:49Speaker 1: this coming from an officer i love this jamie jamie's
- 45:54Speaker 1: my favorite come on by the way you know the
- 45:56Speaker 1: airport's being changed down in nashville to dolly pardon i
- 46:00Speaker 1: saw that yeah good for them yeah i like that
- 46:02Speaker 1: too so anyway all right 502-414-1450 text me some more
- 46:06Speaker 1: we gotta take a break hour two just the cats
- 46:09Speaker 1: coming right up Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 46:29Speaker 1: All right, hour number two on this Monday. If you
- 46:32Speaker 1: want to call in, you can do it 502-384-1450. You
- 46:34Speaker 1: want to text in on the Whiskey Thief text line.
- 46:37Speaker 1: You can do that at 502-414-1450, and I'll get back
- 46:40Speaker 1: to those in just a few minutes. Or you can
- 46:42Speaker 1: tweet me at justthecatradio. All right, so you and I
- 46:45Speaker 1: have been talking about this. Now, I'm a little disappointed
- 46:48Speaker 1: I let myself get the best of me this morning
- 46:52Speaker 1: and talking about this off the air because I want
- 46:55Speaker 1: to save the good stuff for the air, okay?
- 46:58Speaker 3: Okay.
- 46:59Speaker 1: So I quit watching the Texas Ohio state game. I
- 47:05Speaker 1: am not an Ohio state fan. I went to bed
- 47:08Speaker 1: like a freaking moral. And truthfully, I'm not a Texas fan.
- 47:11Speaker 1: I still don't consider them part of the Southeastern conference yet.
- 47:15Speaker 1: They're in it. But if they're going to, I guess
- 47:18Speaker 1: I reluctantly rooted for Texas, but I watched that game
- 47:23Speaker 1: up until everything changed in the third or fourth quarter.
- 47:27Speaker 1: Cause I thought, Man, this is a terrible Texas team.
- 47:31Speaker 1: I thought Arch Manning looked really bad. I mean, I
- 47:36Speaker 1: tend to think, man, that dude's overrated. You don't credit
- 47:38Speaker 1: Ohio State's defense for that, though? Yeah, I think that's
- 47:43Speaker 1: a great question, and you have to. Yeah, you have to.
- 47:47Speaker 1: But he just looked terrible. I mean, can he look
- 47:50Speaker 1: good at some point in time? But what happened to
- 47:53Speaker 1: the defense in the fourth quarter, though? I mean, that game...
- 47:58Speaker 1: Do you blame Ryan Day altogether? Is that his fault completely?
- 48:03Speaker 2: See, for me, it's really hard to talk about this
- 48:05Speaker 2: game because, like I said, it was a blowout. I
- 48:09Speaker 2: was like, I'm going to bed. I'm not watching any
- 48:11Speaker 2: more of this. And then I woke up yesterday morning,
- 48:13Speaker 2: and I'm like, wait, what? Texas came back? How the
- 48:16Speaker 2: hell did that happen?
- 48:17Speaker 1: So I don't know if it was– Wasn't it like
- 48:20Speaker 1: 23-3 going into the fourth quarter? Yeah.
- 48:23Speaker 2: I mean, I think– I want to say top five
- 48:25Speaker 2: teams that have played I don't remember what the stat was,
- 48:29Speaker 2: but teams were 197-0 when leading by 20 going into
- 48:35Speaker 2: the fourth quarter.
- 48:36Speaker 1: I mean, there's only 50 minutes left of the game.
- 48:39Speaker 1: And they're leading 23-3. He had to have gone conservative.
- 48:44Speaker 1: Who's he? Ryan Day? Yeah. You wonder. And you don't
- 48:48Speaker 1: do that. That's the one thing you don't do. You
- 48:51Speaker 1: don't let the gas off the pedal. Well, especially when
- 48:53Speaker 1: you're on the road in a tough environment like Texas. Exactly. Exactly.
- 48:58Speaker 1: All right. Let's talk about it. I happen to see
- 49:06Speaker 1: the replay Saturday morning. Sunday. Or Sunday morning. Because you
- 49:10Speaker 1: know how I feel about these pregame, halftime, and post
- 49:15Speaker 1: game interviews. I cannot, Michael Bennett will say it right now.
- 49:20Speaker 1: I think they're a waste of time and they're silly.
- 49:22Speaker 1: All right. And there are a couple of these people
- 49:27Speaker 1: I'm just not really a fan of. And one of
- 49:30Speaker 1: them happens to be Holly row and the way Steve
- 49:35Speaker 1: Carseasian is A lot of people say disrespected her. Absolutely.
- 49:42Speaker 1: But you know, at halftime, they were having some technical issues.
- 49:47Speaker 1: And he waited for a while to talk to them
- 49:50Speaker 1: at halftime. And he's like, I got to go. And
- 49:54Speaker 1: then after the game, I love what he did. He
- 49:59Speaker 1: wanted to go celebrate with his team. And this little
- 50:04Speaker 1: silly interview that Holly Roe had to do, I thought
- 50:09Speaker 1: the way she responded was disrespectful. It was all about her.
- 50:14Speaker 1: And that just told me everything I needed to know
- 50:17Speaker 1: about her. The way she rolled her eyes and walked off.
- 50:20Speaker 1: And it's like, no, no, no, honey. I shouldn't say that.
- 50:24Speaker 1: Young lady, ma'am, whatever you want me to say. Just...
- 50:27Speaker 1: Get over yourself. To me, at that point, if your
- 50:32Speaker 1: coach does what he just did, you laugh it off
- 50:35Speaker 1: and celebrate with them. You don't roll your eyes and
- 50:38Speaker 1: make it about you. That's what I did not like.
- 50:42Speaker 1: I mean, I respectfully disagree because she's got a job
- 50:46Speaker 1: to do. I understand.
- 50:49Speaker 2: That probably was really annoying for her that she's sitting
- 50:51Speaker 2: there waiting around in the post game, waiting for him.
- 50:54Speaker 2: And he finally comes over and she doesn't get anything
- 50:56Speaker 2: from him.
- 50:57Speaker 1: She's not waiting around for him. She goes and finds
- 50:59Speaker 1: him directly. She could have went home. If she knew
- 51:02Speaker 1: that that was going to happen, she could have left
- 51:04Speaker 1: it out. He said what he needed to say. He
- 51:07Speaker 1: said what he needed to say, but the response by
- 51:10Speaker 1: her is ridiculous. Him not doing not him, not doing
- 51:15Speaker 1: a post game interviews. Ridiculous. Tough. tough i don't care
- 51:19Speaker 1: he wanted to go celebrate with his fans but that
- 51:21Speaker 1: is part of his job is to do that doesn't
- 51:24Speaker 1: matter doesn't matter i think those are a waste of
- 51:27Speaker 1: time and dumb majority of the fans do not want
- 51:31Speaker 1: and viewers do not want to see those post-game interviews
- 51:35Speaker 1: i would bet you uh 75 percent of the viewers
- 51:39Speaker 1: watching that don't care about it 25 percent of them
- 51:42Speaker 1: do And the way, again, I go back to her
- 51:46Speaker 1: little rolling her eyes and having a, oh, I need
- 51:49Speaker 1: my time on TV. I don't think that's what it
- 51:52Speaker 1: was about. Oh, I do. It was all about her
- 51:54Speaker 1: and not getting her a little TV time. You laugh
- 51:57Speaker 1: it off. You say, listen, I'm in an environment. The
- 52:01Speaker 1: fans are going crazy. The coach is going crazy. You
- 52:04Speaker 1: laugh and say, I don't blame you. Go have fun, coach.
- 52:07Speaker 1: You have fun with it. You don't roll your eyes
- 52:10Speaker 1: and have a little attitude hissy fit. You just don't.
- 52:13Speaker 1: It doesn't matter if that's his obligation or not. He obligated,
- 52:17Speaker 1: came over, did his little bit, and walked off. Good
- 52:20Speaker 1: for him.
- 52:21Speaker 2: We'll never agree on this because I think that's part
- 52:23Speaker 2: of his job and a requirement.
- 52:24Speaker 1: Yeah, but you don't have the little hissy fit either.
- 52:28Speaker 1: I might. You don't. Well, sorry, Justin, you shouldn't. You
- 52:31Speaker 1: laugh about it and have fun with it. I'd be
- 52:34Speaker 1: out there celebrating too. I don't blame him wanting to
- 52:36Speaker 1: go off. I loved it. I just loved it. So,
- 52:41Speaker 1: especially to... Whom it happened to. You want to tell
- 52:44Speaker 1: the listeners what you told me off there? No, stop that. No,
- 52:48Speaker 1: I didn't say anything. Don't try and accuse me of
- 52:51Speaker 1: something that's, geez, Justin. Couldn't help it. That's a jerk move,
- 52:59Speaker 1: by the way. I couldn't help it. I don't blame you.
- 53:02Speaker 1: But anyway, yeah, I just, well, I'm not a fan
- 53:04Speaker 1: of hers, okay? So, yeah, you're probably right. It probably
- 53:07Speaker 1: said something I shouldn't have said, but I didn't say
- 53:09Speaker 1: it on air, okay? That's true. Throw me under the
- 53:11Speaker 1: freaking bus. But anyway, I'm just curious what everybody else thinks.
- 53:16Speaker 1: Do you think it was appropriate or not? And I
- 53:19Speaker 1: just think that it was. It was appropriate, and what
- 53:22Speaker 1: she did was not appropriate. All right, let's admit this.
- 53:26Speaker 1: Maybe it was a little inappropriate on both sides. Is
- 53:29Speaker 1: that fair to say? Yep, that I can get behind. Okay, good.
- 53:33Speaker 1: There you go. We finally agreed with something. Are you
- 53:36Speaker 1: surprised Michigan beat Oklahoma?
- 53:38Speaker 3: Very.
- 53:39Speaker 1: Yeah. Talk about a turnaround. Yeah. He scored 13 against...
- 53:44Speaker 1: Western Michigan or seven against Western Michigan, I guess. Yeah, exactly.
- 53:49Speaker 1: And the loss.
- 53:50Speaker 2: Then you come around and you score 17 against this
- 53:52Speaker 2: Oklahoma team that I think is very good.
- 53:55Speaker 1: I don't know. Are they very good? I mean, I'm
- 53:58Speaker 1: doubting that now. Yeah.
- 54:00Speaker 2: But going into that game, I thought they'd kill them.
- 54:04Speaker 1: I did, too. I thought Michigan is way overrated and
- 54:08Speaker 1: shouldn't be where they are. But is it an indication
- 54:11Speaker 1: of which? Is it an indication that Michigan was overlooking
- 54:16Speaker 1: Western Michigan? Or is it an indication that Oklahoma is
- 54:20Speaker 1: not very good?
- 54:22Speaker 2: I think it's more of an indication that maybe Oklahoma
- 54:25Speaker 2: is not what we thought they were.
- 54:27Speaker 1: And so, okay. Okay. I'm probably right there with you.
- 54:32Speaker 1: And guess what? He's even more on the hot seat.
- 54:35Speaker 2: Because I don't think they overlooked Western Michigan.
- 54:38Speaker 1: I just think they didn't play very well. Yeah. They didn't.
- 54:43Speaker 1: But I don't know. That was another game. I thought
- 54:47Speaker 1: that would be a halfway decent game. I really thought
- 54:50Speaker 1: that Oklahoma was going to win that game and make
- 54:56Speaker 1: Michigan 1-1 where they should. Well, it should be. Oh,
- 55:01Speaker 1: and two, if that was the case. But anyway, and
- 55:04Speaker 1: now they're two and oh, and it's still it's going
- 55:06Speaker 1: to bug me all season long that Michigan and I've
- 55:09Speaker 1: never been a Michigan hater. I'm just not. I've always
- 55:12Speaker 1: kind of like Michigan. I mean, I always like Tom Brady.
- 55:14Speaker 1: I always liked the coaches up there. And now I'm
- 55:17Speaker 1: just kind of this year. I'm kind of with you, Justin.
- 55:20Speaker 1: I just hope they lose every game. It does feel
- 55:22Speaker 1: wrong that they're two and oh, it does. And now
- 55:25Speaker 1: back in the top 25. Yeah, that's that's just wrong, too. Uh,
- 55:30Speaker 1: some of the rankings are coming out. A lot of, uh,
- 55:33Speaker 1: people are putting Notre Dame, uh, at either number one,
- 55:37Speaker 1: number two, somewhere around there. Do you like that? I mean,
- 55:42Speaker 1: that's where they're going to be all year, which is sad.
- 55:44Speaker 1: So get used to it. Yeah. And it's hard for
- 55:46Speaker 1: me to get used to. I mean, they don't have
- 55:49Speaker 1: anybody challenging coming up. No, it's the entire season. So
- 55:55Speaker 1: it's almost like they schedule it intentionally to show, okay, well,
- 55:58Speaker 1: if you're not going to let us in the top
- 55:59Speaker 1: 12 for the playoffs, then we're just going to put
- 56:02Speaker 1: the lightest schedule. And I'm to a point now, they
- 56:05Speaker 1: should not allow Notre Dame to be in the playoffs
- 56:08Speaker 1: until they join a conference. They already said they were
- 56:12Speaker 1: going to put them in. Well, and that's sad. And
- 56:16Speaker 1: that is a disjustice to all of college football, Notre Dame.
- 56:22Speaker 1: And I'll say that to my death until they join.
- 56:25Speaker 1: And it doesn't matter if you join the ACC for
- 56:28Speaker 1: everything else but football. It's an easy conference. Just go
- 56:32Speaker 1: join it. You would pass the test in the ACC.
- 56:35Speaker 1: No doubt. I think they would. They might have competition
- 56:38Speaker 1: against Miami, maybe. But that's it. Maybe SMU, but that's not.
- 56:44Speaker 1: Come on. SMU's not that difficult of a team. I mean,
- 56:47Speaker 1: they only beat Florida State by three. Exactly. Exactly. So
- 56:50Speaker 1: that tells me everything I need to know. Missouri head
- 56:53Speaker 1: coach Eli Drinkwitz, of course, I don't know if you
- 56:58Speaker 1: saw the game. They played Friday night, which I can't
- 57:01Speaker 1: stand these Friday night games in college. But Kansas and
- 57:05Speaker 1: Missouri played each other. Well, the Kansas social media posted
- 57:10Speaker 1: a Civil War-themed pregame hype video. Did you see this?
- 57:14Speaker 1: I did. You did? Yeah. Okay, for the border war
- 57:18Speaker 1: match up and it really had me thankful that Eli
- 57:26Speaker 1: Drinkwitz is not a UK football coach. He called it
- 57:29Speaker 1: bizarre and how it was an embarrassment for Kansas because
- 57:33Speaker 1: of Kansas invoking bloodshed and framing a college football game
- 57:37Speaker 1: around good versus evil was uncalled for. And the reason
- 57:45Speaker 1: that he scored more points at the end of the
- 57:47Speaker 1: game was to push the embarrassment back on Kansas. Did
- 57:51Speaker 1: you like the fact that he did this and made
- 57:54Speaker 1: all these comments about a hype video that Kansas put out?
- 57:58Speaker 2: I mean, it felt like it wasn't really necessary. But
- 58:02Speaker 2: in a rivalry, I don't really mind it. Gloves off.
- 58:07Speaker 2: Everything's fair in a rivalry game. That's kind of how
- 58:09Speaker 2: I thought.
- 58:10Speaker 1: But I don't even think Kansas and Missouri is a rival.
- 58:14Speaker 1: They've always been a rival. They have really? Yeah. Honestly,
- 58:17Speaker 1: I did not know this. I thought Kansas, Kansas state, Missouri.
- 58:21Speaker 1: I don't know where they go and who their rival is. Yeah. Missouri, Kansas. Okay.
- 58:25Speaker 1: I apologize. Then I did not know this. So then
- 58:29Speaker 1: if it's a rival, why don't they play that rival
- 58:32Speaker 1: at the end of the season? I mean, I don't
- 58:35Speaker 1: know who they're right. You know, we're stuck with U
- 58:37Speaker 1: of L, even though it's not much of a rival, but.
- 58:40Speaker 1: You don't have to play all your rivalry games. There's
- 58:44Speaker 1: some teams that have more than one rivalry. Well, Alabama does.
- 58:48Speaker 1: I think Alabama's got a rival with everybody. It's either Tennessee,
- 58:52Speaker 1: who I don't think so, Auburn. I mean, everybody. Georgia
- 58:59Speaker 1: Tech is not much of a rivalry. I'm trying to
- 59:01Speaker 1: think who else. They stuck Tennessee with Vanderbilt. To me,
- 59:05Speaker 1: I think Tennessee and Kentucky would have been better. I
- 59:08Speaker 1: would rather finish Here's how I would like to see
- 59:11Speaker 1: the season for football start. I would like to see
- 59:15Speaker 1: UK UofL start the season again. Because then you're talking
- 59:20Speaker 1: about the UK UofL game in June.
- 59:24Speaker 3: Yep.
- 59:25Speaker 1: And then you have a really good matchup. I'm with
- 59:27Speaker 1: Will Stein on this. We, you know, he talked about
- 59:29Speaker 1: it on the show when he first came on with
- 59:31Speaker 1: us and I would like, and then go back to
- 59:34Speaker 1: where you UK finishes with Tennessee. I think that would
- 59:38Speaker 1: be fun, but I don't know. Maybe I wouldn't mind.
- 59:43Speaker 1: You wouldn't mind. Okay.
- 59:44Speaker 2: But you got, so I just looked it up. There's
- 59:46Speaker 2: only 167 miles between those campuses, Kansas and Missouri. So it's,
- 59:53Speaker 2: somewhat similar to Louisville, Kentucky, about double, I guess.
- 59:57Speaker 1: No, it would be, well, it wouldn't be simply, it'd
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: be similar to UK and Tennessee. Yeah. I don't remember
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: how far Knoxville is from Lexington. I don't think it's
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: as far as that. Okay. I just never knew that.
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: I never knew that Kansas and Missouri were a thing.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: And the fact that Eli had to talk about this
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: after the game, I scored more points just to, At
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: the end of the game to embarrass them back. I
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: thought it was rather silly. It's just a hype video.
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: At least he didn't come in and say, it just
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: means more. Well, that's true.
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: So, pretty spot on with your Kentucky to Tennessee take.
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: 171 miles. Oh, it is. Okay, there you go. So,
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: 167 for Kansas, Missouri. 171 for Kentucky, Tennessee. God, I've
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: driven that drive to Missouri. And that is the most
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: boring drive. I've driven between here. And Kansas City. And
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: it's so boring. Yeah, 64 is boring. Yeah. Once you
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: get into Indiana, it's just flat the entire way. That's
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: not true. When you go through the Hoosier National Forest,
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: it's hilly. You get some. Just a little bit for like, what,
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: 10 minutes? And then after that, it's just boring. Then
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: it goes back to flat. Oh, my gosh. Illinois is boring.
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: You get St. Louis. You get to see the arch
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: and Mississippi River. But then it's back to boring again.
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: Flat the entire time. Oh, my gosh. That's a painful job.
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: Podcast Random Thoughts guy texted out, Michael, use your resources
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: to get LSU kicked out of Louisville to take their place.
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: I know Louisville fans would be ecstatic and Braum would
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: be too. Yeah, I'm not doing that. Because clearly Podcast
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: Random Thoughts, is he a UofL fan? He is. Okay.
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: He actually changed his name this morning to Paul Rogers
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: the Goat. Oh, really? Instead of Podcast Random Thoughts. I
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: kind of like that. Do you? Yes. It's not accurate.
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: Why is that? Paul Rogers is not the GOAT. No,
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: he's not. But I like Paul Rogers and I'll always
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: fully support Paul Rogers. But he's not the GOAT. But yeah,
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: that's not a good switch. I'm sorry. Louisville fans do
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: not support their team like LSU does. LSU is not
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: getting kicked out. Of course they're not. And that was
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: all just, uh, um, Bob, uh, just threats that were not, uh,
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: going to really happen. I mean, I don't like, it
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: made me disrespect Greg Sankey, but he got the result.
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: He wanted to get the result credit to him for that,
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: but no offense. Uh, uh, Paul Rogers, the goat, uh,
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: LSU is a little different than UofL. So, uh, and
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: they're going to keep you, uh, LSU and they'll, and
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: this is the sad part. You can think all you want.
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: LSU or UofL will never be a part of the SEC.
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: So you'll just stay in the ACC.
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: Never say never. We've seen some crazy things in college athletics.
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: It won't happen. It just won't. That's why you don't
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: see Florida State joining the SEC because Florida won't let
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: it happen. Same thing. I bet you South Carolina is similar.
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: Even though Texas A & M lost, but you've got
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: to look at Texas, dude. That's a huge fan base
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: just like Texas A & M. One person said, I
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: like Coach Stein, but it looked familiar going for it
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: on your side of the field. Stoops did that. Yeah,
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: he did do that, but not as much. I mentioned
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: it earlier in the show how Mommy was doing it
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: on a regular basis. Like, oh, man, come on, dude.
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: They're not even surprised by the fake punt. I thought
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: Will Stein doing it at that point was a good decision.
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: It just wasn't implemented the correct way for it to work.
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: So 48 Handlers said, the Kansas-Missouri rivalry is rooted on
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: pre-Civil War. That's where Jayhawkers came in. Oh, I didn't
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: know that. I didn't know Kansas was a part, or Missouri,
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: a part of the Civil War. Did you? I don't
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: know as much about that. That's what that video was
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: all about.
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I knew it was Civil War, but I'm just
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: saying I didn't know that was anything back in the
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: Civil War days. Random rant. Oh, well, hold on. Let
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: me get to the first one. Scoots driving that Tark
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: right through Michael's studio this morning.
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: That's right.
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: There was a really bright truck coming here a couple
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: of minutes ago, and he left his lights on for
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: like 10 minutes. Oh, is that what he's talking about?
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: I think so. Yeah, it was crazy. It was really,
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: you know, the lights on cars today and trucks, what
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: kind of lights are they today? They're the brightest things.
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: And sometimes you think they have their brights on when
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: they really, in fact, don't have their brights on. Oh,
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: it's brutal. It really is. And motorcycles are the worst
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: because they leave their brights on. It's like, okay, guy,
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: I see you. Do you need your brights on? I
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: don't know. Those... What kind of lights are they today
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: on the cars? I couldn't tell you. I'm not a
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: car guy. I'm not either. So, random rant. How come
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: I'm getting political ads for Alaska on the stream?
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: What?
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: Is this right? I guess. Wow. He's saying it. I've
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: never heard of it. Well, do you live in Alaska?
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: I don't think he does. Yeah. I mean, I get
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: Florida ones, but I live in Florida part of the year.
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: I don't get the Kentucky ones, which is kind of nice.
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: It's like I was worried when we started getting these
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: spam things for elections. I'm like, oh, man, they're going
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: to get me for Florida and Kentucky. But thank goodness
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: I'm only getting Florida. Are you getting them for Indiana? No. Really?
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: You haven't gotten any spam ones? No. Okay. By the way,
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: did you see where Apple is going to be releasing
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: their Fold? They're calling it iPhone Fold, the folding phone. Yeah,
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: we talked about it last week. Okay. Yeah. That's right.
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: We did talk about that. You pumped about that? I
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: don't really care. I'm not going to get one. I'm
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: getting one. Are you? Oh, yeah. I'm getting one. They're
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: way too expensive. But my eyes need it. Dorkwitz just
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: needs to be thankful Missouri or Mizzou is still in
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: the SEC. I agree with that. Of all the teams,
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: was it you that asked the question or somebody else?
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: Was it Corey, maybe? Which team, you're surprised, is still
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: in the SEC? I would say Leafs. Was that you?
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: In Missouri was the easy answer. It was the easy answer. Yeah.
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: I've enjoyed that answer. And, yeah, that's the team I wish,
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: between them and South Carolina, I wish were gone. Because
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: I've just gotten to a point where I don't like
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: Shane Beamer and I don't like Eli Drinkowitz. I just
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: think they're goofy. And the way that Drinkowitz handled that
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: whole situation, it's like you're going overboard on something that's
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: really not that big of a deal. It's a hype video,
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: for goodness sake. All right, we got to take another break.
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: When we come back, I got to talk a little
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: bit about some volleyball. And then I do want to
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: talk about some NFL. And then you brought up a
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: great subject matter, IU and their game versus Howard. Let's
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: talk about that too. Stay right there. More of Just
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: the Cats. It's coming right up after this.
- 1:07:39Speaker 3: Could you whisper in my ear the things you want
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: to feel? Did you do that.
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: On purpose, Michael Bennett? What'd I do? Let me go
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: to dead air. Ha ha ha ha ha ha! You
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: know the answer. Nah. Where are you going? I'm not
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: done talking to you. Exactly. Well, you come over here
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: and talk to me and we start chit-chatting. I'm not
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: even thinking. We'll see how long we can be dead air. No.
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: You look like a complete moron. No, no, no, no, no, no. Honestly,
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: I kind of let time slip by there. I wasn't
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: even thinking. But anyway. All right, let's talk about some
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: IU football. Because I think you brought up something that
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: is definitely worth discussing. Yeah. IU played Howard over the weekend.
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: Boring game. If you're a Howard fan, yeah. Well, come on.
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: If you're a diehard football fan, you want to see
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: some good football. That's a game I watch for the
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: better part of 30 seconds.
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: If I'm watching my team, I want to see touchdown
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: after touchdown after touchdown.
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: And that's what we got. Yeah. uh but the casual
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: fan is not going to watch that game so nor
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: do they need to yeah i mean why would you
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: when you got all the other good games Yeah, you don't.
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: But you brought up something worthwhile, which I didn't realize
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: this until you told me. But come, what was it,
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: third or fourth quarter, they said, hey, guys, we're just
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: going to continue to have a running clock. And then
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: they got rid of how many minutes in the ballgame?
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: So they took the clock down from 15 to 10.
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: And why this is pertinent. It's because Indiana was a 56.5
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: point favorite.
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: And the game ended with what final score? 55 to nothing.
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: And see, that's a problem. That is a problem. So
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: if I'm a gambling man, I'm thinking, dude, I want
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: my money back. That's not fair to me.
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: You can't shorten the game if you're going to allow
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: gambling odds. If you are going to, if there's ever
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: an inkling that maybe this is a game that can
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: be shortened, which by all accounts, it had been discussed
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: earlier in the week, then you can't offer a line
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: on it.
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: Yeah. You just can't. No, absolutely not. And if that
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: does happen, then they need to change it to where
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: you get your money back. Just like with gambling and
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: horse racing. If my horse scratches, I get my money back.
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: And that's essentially what happened here. It's like you're taping
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: time away from the game that would allow my team
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: to score more points. And that's the way I bet
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: this game. That is not fair, Justin, and I would
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: be up in arms about this. And who do you blame?
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: Do you blame IU for this? Do you blame the
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: conference for this? Who do you blame for this? That's
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: the thing is I don't really know. I mean, I'm
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: struggling to figure that out because if it was discussed
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: earlier in the week, which I've heard it was, that, hey,
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: come fourth quarter, if this thing's real ugly– But we'll
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: agree to shorten the clock. Then that should be discussed
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: to the public as well. And all the gambling outlets.
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: There is a chance this could happen. And does that
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: reflect how you're going to gamble on this game? Because
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: at that point, I would probably say, I'm not gambling
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: on this game. Because I don't know where the game
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: is going to end, how it's going to end, and
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: how much time is going to be on the clock.
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: That's not fair to the common gambler out there that
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: may or may not I put a bunch of money
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: on that game. Did you bet on that game, by
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: the way? I did not. I stayed away from it.
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: Thank goodness you did.
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: And, yeah, I mean, had I done it, I would
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: have been ticked off.
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: Yes. So I'm surprised there's not more people complaining about
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: this because that clearly is not fair because that's the
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: emphasis that a lot of sports guys are putting on
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: now is the gambling side of sports because you're now
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: able to gamble everything and everything's right there at the
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: fingertips of your hands. Yeah.
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: And what you don't want it to become is shady.
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: And this whole situation feels kind of shady.
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. So, and I'm sorry for that. I wonder
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: what the handle ended up being on that game. Ooh,
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: that's a great question. How much Vegas won or lost
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: because of that decision? Yeah. I don't know. But, hmm.
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: I think it's a fair question. And I think it
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: should be brought up, guys. At the Big Ten, you
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: need to be able to be communicating to the fan
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: bases that love to gamble because that wasn't fair. No.
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: But anyway, did you see the hit? I didn't see
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: it live, but I saw it replay between the BYU
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: player and San Jose State. No. At the kickoff, announcer
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: made the comment, Echelberry with the hit of the year.
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: You could hear it. I mean, it hurt me watching
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: that play. Go look it up. It was BYU and who?
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: BYU and San Jose State. And El Bakary, I think
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: is his name. El Bakary. And, uh, oh my gosh.
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: Just look up BYU San Jose state hit and it'll
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: come up. Cause that was clearly the hit of the year.
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: And I hope that young man's okay. Okay. He stayed down.
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: I didn't go back to look and see if he
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: was okay or anything. Oh yeah. Play that, play that. Uh,
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: can you play it on the, uh, radio? Yeah. All right,
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: play that for me. I found it on my phone.
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: Let me search. That's okay. That's okay. So take a second.
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: But if you haven't seen it, this is the BYU
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: player that's hitting a San Jose State player. And it's
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: a kickoff. And I mean, it was a clean hit.
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: Nothing was dirty about it. But I mean, it was
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: a hard, hard hit where. I worry about that young man.
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: I hope he's okay. All right, let's see how this
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: comes across. Okay, good. Goal line. Off and running. Oh,
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: he is nailed, and the ball's out. And BYU's got it.
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: You heard that, didn't you? El Bakri. Running. Oh, he
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: is nailed. You see, you hear it. That little click
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: right there. I mean, that's insane. El Bakri. El Bakri
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: with the hit of the year. It's like, oh, my gosh.
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: That is not pretty at all. But anyway, that's one
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: of those things like, okay, I don't even know if
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: you see the hit coming if you can prepare for
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: something like that. No. And because I don't know what's
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: worse is the actual hit or the actual body slamming
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: on the ground. I mean, he saw it coming.
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: You could hesitate a little bit like he slows down
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: that he knows that he's going to get it.
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: Yeah. But there's nothing he could do. No, not at all.
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: And I just I did. I worried about that young man.
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: So I hope he's OK. So UK volleyball lost. excuse me,
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: to number eight SMU in the Bahamas for their first
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: game in the Bahamas over the weekend, three to one.
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: And then they turn around and won the game yesterday,
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: which was good against Houston. So now UK is seven
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: and two in the season. And both of the losses
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: that they have in those two losses are coming from
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: top 10 teams. I mean, you can't criticize them at
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: all because they're the teams are losing to are really good.
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: And you just hope it prepares them when post-season comes
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: because they're going to see these teams again and hopefully
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: they win that. But yeah, yesterday they won against Houston,
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: swept them again, swept another team again, three to nothing
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: to finish their time down in the Bahamas. Good for
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: them for having a good time down there. I mean,
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: This is a team that has gone from one weekend
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: before they were in Chicago playing on Wrigley Field, and
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: then the next weekend they're in the Bahamas. They're definitely
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: getting to do some cool stuff. Yeah, they really are.
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: I mean, credit to Craig Skinner for doing all this. Now,
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: next game, big one. Next game is this coming Sunday
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: at Historic Memorial Coliseum, 3 o'clock on ABC. Are you ready?
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: Versus UofL. I can't either. So that's going to be
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: some must-watch TV next Sunday at 3 o'clock. So, I mean,
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: my NFL viewing might have to be interrupted for a
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: little UK volleyball. Break out the multiple TV setup. Oh,
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: that too? Yeah. That or, you know, if you get YouTube,
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: you can just put on whatever games you want to.
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: That's a good point. Yeah, which I really like doing.
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: Also, was it Peacock I saw this weekend? Or maybe
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: it was the ESPN app. One of those started doing multi-view.
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: Oh, really? Yeah. I think it was ESPN. I like it.
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: And I just wish they had more options for it.
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: You can choose which ones you can do, can't you? Yeah.
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: I thought so. Yeah, you can build your own. Four
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: is too many for me. For my ADHD, OCD, everything.
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: It's a lot going on. It's too much. Yeah. And
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: then it would be worse if every one of them
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: was playing at the same time with the volume, too.
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: You got competing announcers. Oh, yeah, I couldn't do that, but.
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: If Gus Johnson's one of them, you won't hear anybody else. Why?
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: Because he's so loud. Oh, is he really? You know
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: Gus Johnson. No, I don't. Remind me who he is. Oh,
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: my gosh. He's the just real over-the-top excited one. You're
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: Indiana Hoosier. Oh, him. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm sorry. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: Of course I do. Yeah. Now, that was a hit. Oh,
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: my gosh, man. It sounds like the guy needs another
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: cigarette when he's announcing, so. I don't think Gus is
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: a smoker. He's not a smoker? I don't think so.
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: He's got that kind of raspy voice like John Mellencamp. Yeah.
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: Because John Mellencamp got his voice from smoking. I mean,
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: that's why he sings the way he does, because of smoking.
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: I believe that. Yeah. I don't know if that's good
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: or not, but anyway. At this point, do you quit
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: smoking when he's been smoking as long as he has?
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: What's the point? Well, I'm right there with you. I mean,
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: what is the point at this point? I mean, well, anyway.
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: All right. We got to take our last break. When
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: we come back, I want to talk about some NFL
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: because there were some things going on this weekend, especially
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: with one bingo player. A defensive lineman did something before
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: the game, which I thought was awesome. I don't know
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: if you saw this or not, Justin. Do you know
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: what I'm talking about?
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: I don't.
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: Good. I'm going to surprise you when we get back. Plus,
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: they made a mistake on the Bengals game, too, which
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: I thought was hilarious. So we'll talk about that, too.
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: Stay right there. One more segment of Just the Cats
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: coming up.
- 1:18:45Speaker 3: I won't say anything at all.
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: 502-384-1450.
- 1:19:32Speaker 3: You want to call 502-414-1450.
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: You want to text in on the Whiskey Thief text line.
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: Or you can tweet me at JustCatRadio. So yesterday, yeah,
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: you talked about it and you asked me about it
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: on Sunrise with Scoots about if I watched the Bengals-Bucks
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: game yesterday, which I did. I knew you watched it.
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: I asked how you felt about it. It's just crazy.
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: I mean, it's like, please don't let them play a lot.
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: I don't want them to play a lot. Because, you know,
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: I mentioned on your show, one minute I'm rooting for
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: the Bengals. Like, no, I'm rooting for the Bucks. No,
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: I'm rooting for the Bengals. It was just way too
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: confusing for me. But the one thing I definitely want
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: to mention, and his name is Landon Robinson, the defensive lineman.
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: Did you see him dressed up walking into the stadium
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: in Cincinnati yesterday before the game? No, missed that. Okay,
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: you know he played football at Navy. He came in
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: his full service dress. Oh, really? Which I thought was
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: the most awesome thing I've ever seen in my life. Yeah,
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: so he came, and you know what I'm talking about,
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: his formal uniform. Oh, that's incredible. And so you got
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: to go look that up. Landon Robinson, and look at
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: what he's walking in. He's got the hat on, the
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: full uniform, walking into the Bengals locker room. And I thought, oh,
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: to me, that deserves all the credit in the world.
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: And thank you for your service. Now, does he do
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: this for every game? I don't know yet. That's his
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: first game. And of course, he's a rookie. So that
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: was his first time ever walking into an NFL stadium
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: on opening day as a player. And he did it
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: in full uniform. I was just like, that's awesome. loved
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: it I.
- 1:21:38Speaker 2: Wonder if Eli Heidenreich did the same I don't know
- 1:21:41Speaker 2: he plays for the Steelers.
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: Right that would that would be a fair question to
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: ask too I think listen if you play at one
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: of those schools and now you play in the NFL
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: you got every right to do this I thought it
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: was great but uh anyway uh the other thought the
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: other part I thought was hilarious I don't know if
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: you saw this or not but they made a mistake
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: in the very beginning the first quarter of the game
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: They were showing the offensive coordinator. I forget what his
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: name is for the Bengals. And the graphic on the
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: TV screen said, of course, the score. And then it
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: has the Bengals offensive coordinator. Then it says first name,
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: last name. Oh, my God. Oh, exactly. The graphic had
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: not been filled in. Shout out the first name, last name,
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: offensive coordinator for the Bengals. I thought that was hilarious.
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: Dan Pitcher. There you go. So poor Dan Pitcher didn't
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: get any credit for being the offensive coordinator for the Bengals.
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: I've never even heard of Dan Pitcher. I haven't either.
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: I don't know who he is. But I think the
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: rest of the season, he should be known as first name,
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: last name. I mean. What a name.
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: Based on the way the offense looked yesterday, I wouldn't
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: be opposed to that.
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: Oh, come on, man. They won the game. Yeah, but
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: it wasn't like, so the Bengals are my Super Bowl pick.
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: Are they really?
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: I did not watch that game thinking. You're a Steelers fan. No,
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: I know, but I think the Bengals finally punched through
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: this year.
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: Oh, boy. But based on what I saw yesterday, I
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: don't know that that will be the case. I see.
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: I disagree. I disagree. I think, I don't think they're
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: going to be a Superbowl team, but I think they're
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: going to be a strong team. And I think Burrow
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: had a really good game. I think, uh, it was
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: really bad on the other side that, you know, you
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: sign a quarterback, a brand new contract that was holding out,
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: but I'm still going to show up to work out,
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: but I want my money. And then you have four turnovers,
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: three of them. He fumbled. Come on, man. That's that's
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: I'm just not a fan of Baker Mayfield. I'm not
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: a fan of, uh, Todd Bowles either. I'm still surprised
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: he's there. I mean, you get rid of Gruden, and
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: you fire him, and that's a guy that won a
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: Super Bowl for you, but you give another season to
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: a head coach that's really done nothing for you? I
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: don't know. I'm kind of down on the Buccaneers right now.
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: Do you think Baker Mayfield is a really good player?
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: Really good?
- 1:24:09Speaker 2: No, but, I mean, should he be a starting quarterback
- 1:24:11Speaker 2: in the NFL? I think he's proved at this point, yes.
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: Really?
- 1:24:14Speaker 3: Really?
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: I'd probably take Will Levis over him at this point.
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: Stop it.
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: That's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen.
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: That's why you whispered it. Because you knew it was ridiculous. Oh,
- 1:24:25Speaker 2: come on, man. Breaking news.
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: Florida State has fired athletic director Michael Alford. Wow. Yeah.
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: What do you think of that? Because you know who's next,
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: don't you? I thought Norvell would have been first. Exactly.
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: I did, too. Interesting. Yeah. That's exactly what I thought.
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: But anyway, that just literally came out. Within the last
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: 30 minutes. That might help Norville. No, I think that's
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: an indication that you are gone, too. Why would you
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: keep Norville? Why?
- 1:24:57Speaker 2: I mean, at least it may get him until the
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: end of the season. I don't know that you're going
- 1:25:01Speaker 2: to have an interim AD come in and be like, oh,
- 1:25:03Speaker 2: you're fired.
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: No, you're not going to do that. But when you
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: have a new athletic director coming in and you haven't
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: done well as a football coach, and that's supposed to
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: be your sport at that school, Yeah, your days are numbered.
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: So Mike Norville just needs to start looking for a
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: job now because I agree with you. They're not going
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: to fire him in the middle of the season. If
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: they do, I'll be surprised. But part of me would
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: not be surprised. But I think they wait until the
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: end of the season and say, thank you, you're out
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: of here. Yeah, I think his days are now numbered
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: as far as that goes. Here's one crazy stat. I
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: don't know if you've seen it or not. But the
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: Atlantic hurricane season for this year, and we are supposed
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: to be at the height of it right now. Yeah.
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: For 2026 sets a new record and has not seen
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: a single hurricane this year as of yet. Yeah. The
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: only other time that it got this close was back
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: in 2002 and 2014. And man, they haven't seen anything.
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: And did I just jinx it by the way, by
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: saying this? Probably so. I'm not going to. I would
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: appreciate that. Yeah. But that is crazy. You know, we just, they're,
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: they're saying it's because of El Nino. Yeah. I am El.
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: You've not seen that video with Chris Farley where he's
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: acting like he's El Nino. No. Dressed up as a wrestler. Yeah.
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: And he's talking, I am El Nino. I mean, the
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: Pacific's been crazy. Oh, yeah. We have a great friend.
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: They're already on each other. A good friend of ours
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: lost their home in Hawaii because of the hurricane that happened, what,
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: last week? They said it was really strong. So, you know,
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: shout out to them. Sorry about that. But, yeah. It's
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: just crazy that here we had these hurricanes in Florida
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: last few years and now just zero, and I'm so
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: thankful for that. Hopefully it continues to stay that way.
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: Has there ever been a year where there wasn't one?
- 1:26:55Speaker 3: Hmm.
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: I'm sure there has, but they said they've only been
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: recording them, what, since the 30s or 40s? I don't know.
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: I can't answer that question. Wow. Wow.
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: Yeah, zero hurricanes in the Atlantic Basin in 1907 and 1914.
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: There you go. Oh, it has happened before. So they've
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: been watching them way before then. I was wrong on
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: the dates right there. That's pretty crazy. Yeah, yeah. Also,
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: they have officially announced that the cyclospora outbreak has been
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: declared over and we are victorious. I don't know what
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: that is. That's the whole salad thing. oh yeah i
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: can go back to taco bell you can go back
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: to taco bell yeah you can go back to all
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: these places they blame lettuce and blueberries and they they
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: never stopped who they were blaming they were blaming everybody
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: and i don't know if they really found out where
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: it came from didn't they I have no idea. Wasn't
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: it that farm in Mexico? Well, they were saying that.
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: They were saying a poor company that basically lost all
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: their business. All these lettuce companies were losing all their business,
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: and they had nothing to do with it. And yet
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: they were losing business because they had lettuce. My wife
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: wouldn't eat lettuce for like the better part of two
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: months since this came out. Yeah, I haven't eaten it
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: in forever. Yeah. Oh, have you not really?
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: No.
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: I have. I don't care. If I get it, I
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: might boost my diet a little more.
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: Now, I have gone to Taco Bell a couple times
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: in the time, but I won't get a.
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: Taco and lettuce on it. Really? You're that paranoid about it?
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: I mean, from the things I heard, it doesn't sound
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: all that pleasant. So, yeah, I might as well be. Okay.
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: It just doesn't bother me at all. I don't know.
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: I just, whatever. Now, do you get COVID shots? No.
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: Neither do I. Never did. Oh, seriously? Nope. You never
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: got a COVID shot? Nope. Wow.
- 1:29:02Speaker 2: Not once.
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: Good for you. I refused. I would have literally quit
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: my job. Yeah. Had they made me. Really? Huh.
- 1:29:10Speaker 2: My roommate felt the same. He just didn't want to
- 1:29:12Speaker 2: quit his job, so he did it. And now he
- 1:29:15Speaker 2: wishes that he didn't.
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: I did enjoy where somebody tweeted out, Mike McDaniel looks
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: like he sells CBD suckers out of a backpack and
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: scooters around. Town with his dog. That's so true. It is.
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: I like Mike McDaniel. He's at San Diego now. Working
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: for Harbaugh. I hope he does well. But he needed
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: to go from the Dolphins. Yeah, I mean, dude's just
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: not cut out to be a coach. Well, I don't know.
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: Not a head coach. Well, we'll see. Are you going
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: to watch the Broncos play that other team? Absolutely. I
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: hope it shows Taylor Swift 43 times. Oh, geez. Are
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: you kidding me? Please don't. I somehow have to prepare
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: for that. And I think if they do that, I
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: will stop watching the game. I don't know. Is this
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: a good matchup? 8-15 tonight. It's an incredible matchup. Are
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: the Broncos? I don't know anything about the Broncos. I
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: haven't kept up with them. Clearly, the Chiefs are always good. Yeah. But,
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: I mean, you know, a lot of people are getting
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: fatigued about the Chiefs. And it's not because of the
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: whole Taylor Swift thing. It's just because they continue to
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: win every year. Yeah, I mean, people turn on winners.
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: They do. Yeah. They get tired of it. I mean,
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: I think the team that most people got the most
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: tired of are two teams. Number one, in baseball, it's
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: the Yankees. In football, in the NFL, I think it
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: was the Cowboys. Was, not anymore. Exactly. It hadn't been
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: the Cowboys in many years, and I think people still
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: enjoy that. I think it's, well, I'm just going from guessing.
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: I have no knowledge of this at all. But do
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: you think the most hated team in the NFL is
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: the Cowboys? Probably so. Yeah. I would think so. And
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: I think that the Chiefs are probably right there behind them.
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: Because they continue to... I think for a while it
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: was the Patriots. They got sick of Tom Brady and Belichick.
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: I was going to say it might still be them,
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: but yeah. You think so? No, with everybody gone, probably not.
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: I don't think it is anymore. Yeah, with everybody gone,
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: Belichick's gone, Tom Brady's gone, Gronkowski. I mean, the whole
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: list goes down. I think they're kind of okay with
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: the Patriots. Now, I still think it's very much the
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: Chiefs are right there. I mean, Mahomes is okay, but...
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: Why does his helmet sit so high on his head?
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: Because he has a lot of hair. Is that what
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: it is? I mean, it's abnormally high on his head.
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: It does look goofy. I'll give you that. It does
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: kind of dry. So I'll watch that tonight. That should be,
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: I hope, a good game. You said the Broncos are
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: supposed to be good. Yeah. But it's at the Chiefs Stadium,
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: and there they claim to be one of the louder places,
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: kind of like Seattle. It'll be competitive. There's been a
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: lot of fights at the NFL games this year. That
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: doesn't surprise me. Is it because of the beer? I mean,
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: people get hammered. Yeah. Yeah. I just don't get that.
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: But anyway, what did you think of J.J. Watt's first
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: official game with Jim Nance? Did you like it or
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: did you listen? They were on CBS. I don't remember
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: which game it was. I think it was the Packers-Vikings game.
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: That's what it was. I didn't watch much of that. Oh,
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: you didn't? Yeah. But I'm sure he did a fine job. Yeah,
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: I like J.J. Watt. His brother got his 10th career
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: interception yesterday. Oh, did he really?
- 1:32:37Speaker 2: Which makes him the only player in NFL history besides
- 1:32:41Speaker 2: Julius Peppers with 100 sacks and 10 interceptions.
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: Wow. Good for him. Pretty impressive. So, yeah. All right, then.
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: How much time we have? About a minute. Okay, about
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: a minute. All right, so this week we're going to
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: talk about, obviously, Texas A & M as UK gets
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: prepared for that. And don't forget now, volleyball's got a
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: big game Sunday, too. against UofL. So hopefully a lot
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: of people can go head for that game. But this
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: is going to be the first road test for Kenny Minchie,
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: Will Stein, and we'll see how that goes. But we'll
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: talk more about that this week and get you prepared
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: for that game. But that is a fun place to go.
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: I will tell you, College Station, that's a fun place,
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: even though they're truly just a little on the goofy side.
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: But that's okay. We'll get over that. All right, appreciate
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: you listening. We'll see you tomorrow on Just a Cat.
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: I'll be a never-worrying woman. We'll be right back.
