- Najah: Being offended isn't the same thing as being harmed. Someone disagreeing with you? Challenging your opinion. Or saying something you don't like. Doesn't automatically mean they harmed you. It doesn't even automatically mean they disrespected you. Sometimes It just means they see the world differently than you do. We've wandered into a place where disagreement feels like disrespect. And discomfort feels like danger. I also think we've become so obsessed with being right. That anyone who disagrees with us has to be wrong. Sometimes. You're not arguing over facts. You're arguing over experiences. Now don't get me wrong. Real harm exists. Abuse is harm. Manipulation is harm. Violence is harm. But somebody saying something that offends you? Isn't automatically one of those things. I think we've become so afraid of feeling uncomfortable. That we've started calling every uncomfortable feeling harm. And if we do that We erase the difference between someone hurting us. and someone's simply seeing things differently. It's okay to be offended. Without acting like you've been harmed. Because sometimes... The only thing that got hurt was your feelings.
