- 0:03Speaker 1: Day two of the off season, Big News Day. Did
- 0:07Speaker 1: you guys see the news this morning?
- 0:10Speaker 2: Big big Newsday show?
- 0:12Speaker 3: Dam Minaga we're.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Gonna get to that. It's a big FT News Day.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Oh yeah. The three new shows, not.
- 0:22Speaker 1: One, not two, let me angle it, but three new shows.
- 0:27Speaker 1: We get requests all of the time for us to
- 0:31Speaker 1: pick up other teams, team dedicated shows. Here's three more
- 0:36Speaker 1: to add to the table. Beautiful Graphic, Bucco Territory, Josh
- 0:40Speaker 1: Harrison who's going to join us later on this edition
- 0:43Speaker 1: of FT, Noah Hayles, who is an insider in Pittsburgh,
- 0:46Speaker 1: and Platinum Key, who is an excellent content creator. So
- 0:50Speaker 1: that's your pirate show. And that's an incredible logo. So
- 0:53Speaker 1: is Riverfront Territory of Beauty. Daddy Graves, Red Hall of Famer,
- 0:59Speaker 1: and C Trent Rosecran it's frequent FT guest dialed in
- 1:03Speaker 1: on the reds So that's a Red show. And then
- 1:06Speaker 1: Splash Hit Territory hosted by FP Santangelo and special guest
- 1:10Speaker 1: Susan Sluster.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Will join him frequently. I mean, that's a good list. AJ.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Those are all people that we know pretty well that
- 1:17Speaker 1: we've brought on the show quite frequently, so welcome those three.
- 1:21Speaker 1: And now that gives us do you know how many
- 1:24Speaker 1: do you guys know how many we have for team shows?
- 1:26Speaker 1: Not for the entire FT network? All right, then you
- 1:28Speaker 1: don't give it away, Kratz. Do you have an idea
- 1:31Speaker 1: AJ For team shows we're at fifteen eighteen. Yeah, we
- 1:36Speaker 1: include say, foul Fair may Day. But for team shows
- 1:41Speaker 1: we're at fifteen. That means that we have exactly half
- 1:45Speaker 1: the league.
- 1:46Speaker 2: So half the.
- 1:46Speaker 1: League's fans are now satisfied, and half the fans in
- 1:50Speaker 1: the league are still pissed at us and sending us notes.
- 1:54Speaker 2: And that's fine.
- 1:55Speaker 1: It is a slow burned, methodical process to get these
- 1:59Speaker 1: up and running. Shout out to the team behind the scenes.
- 2:01Speaker 1: But they have episodes out, all three of them. Actually,
- 2:04Speaker 1: one more bit of news. Cardinal Territory has now added
- 2:10Speaker 1: some significant firepower our buddy Lance Lynn, Matt Holliday, Kyle Gibson,
- 2:18Speaker 1: Jim Hayes. They had their own pod running. They are
- 2:21Speaker 1: transitioning over to Cardinal Territory. So all of that has
- 2:25Speaker 1: officially happened as of this morning.
- 2:28Speaker 3: It's a lot of big news.
- 2:30Speaker 4: It is a lot FT finally passed. How many teams
- 2:33Speaker 4: I was a part of. So congratulations.
- 2:35Speaker 3: FT.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Yes, we took down AJ's career list a while ago,
- 2:42Speaker 1: but we have succeeded now.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Miilas is a long time ago.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Yeah what was there? Seven?
- 2:48Speaker 3: Six? Yeah? Nice?
- 2:51Speaker 1: Okay, perfect? Well, congrats to those three shows. We'll give
- 2:54Speaker 1: you more info on those shows, and we're going to
- 2:56Speaker 1: talk to Josh Harrison this week. We'll give you some
- 2:59Speaker 1: clips throughout the week of what to expect in those
- 3:01Speaker 1: shows during some of the breaks that we do on
- 3:04Speaker 1: TV and keep running on YouTube.
- 3:06Speaker 2: But let's charge.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Let's charge about. We had been waiting and we were
- 3:14Speaker 1: expecting to hear the news straight from the source, which
- 3:17Speaker 1: is the team Alexanthopolis keeps it close to the best
- 3:20Speaker 1: running the Atlanta Braves, and his decision is Walt Weiss,
- 3:25Speaker 1: who has been the bench coach with the Braves for
- 3:27Speaker 1: a long time now, since twenty eighteen. As Chipper Jones
- 3:31Speaker 1: immediately yesterday saying, boom, love this dude, Walt Weiss is
- 3:35Speaker 1: the choice.
- 3:36Speaker 2: AJ.
- 3:38Speaker 1: I feel like we have heavily scrutinized the manager choices
- 3:41Speaker 1: so far, and some of them have bothered you because
- 3:45Speaker 1: there's a lack of experience. Walt Weiss managed a bad
- 3:48Speaker 1: Rocky team from what I recall, for four years and
- 3:51Speaker 1: then he's been part of a good Brave staff for
- 3:53Speaker 1: many years.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Do you like this?
- 3:55Speaker 3: I love this.
- 3:56Speaker 5: It keeps the connuity and you know, it keeps the
- 3:58Speaker 5: connuity with the front office, with the players, and this
- 4:01Speaker 5: is kind of what the Braves that wanted to do
- 4:04Speaker 5: right they signed some of their new players. They have
- 4:07Speaker 5: all their players kind of locked up for a long time.
- 4:10Speaker 5: Snitt was there for since twenty sixteen when I was
- 4:12Speaker 5: last there, and Weiss has been there for a long time.
- 4:15Speaker 5: So it just keeps the continuity of they're what they're
- 4:18Speaker 5: telling them, how they're trying to teach him, what they're
- 4:20Speaker 5: trying to do. It'll be a different voice, it'll be
- 4:21Speaker 5: said a different way. But now Alex has someone that
- 4:24Speaker 5: he trusts, that he can talk to and go too
- 4:26Speaker 5: much like Yeah, with Snit, I think this is a
- 4:29Speaker 5: great hire for the Braves.
- 4:32Speaker 3: I agree.
- 4:33Speaker 4: I agree. I don't know that they needed to go
- 4:34Speaker 4: outside the box. I don't know that there was like
- 4:36Speaker 4: a big revamping of the Braves. This team's here, like
- 4:41Speaker 4: Weiss might not even outlast this core of cores of
- 4:44Speaker 4: players that they have but I think he understands. Sometimes
- 4:49Speaker 4: as a bench coach, you see things that you're like, Okay,
- 4:52Speaker 4: you know, I don't think this should be run a
- 4:54Speaker 4: certain way. I think drastic. They're not going to move
- 4:57Speaker 4: Acuoni to left field, or you know, something like crazy.
- 5:01Speaker 4: It's just, hey, maybe we need to do a little
- 5:03Speaker 4: bit more of this. I noticed this was happening because
- 5:06Speaker 4: you're you're not distracted by all the outside media and
- 5:10Speaker 4: your two meetings a day that that Snit has to
- 5:13Speaker 4: be distracted by. And I think it's it's a great
- 5:16Speaker 4: like AJ said, great continuity for the team.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Walt Weiss loves it there too. AJ.
- 5:22Speaker 1: He said during the intro press conference this morning, he
- 5:26Speaker 1: would have stood there as the bench coach for another
- 5:28Speaker 1: decade if Snit kept the job. Brian Snicker is moving on,
- 5:33Speaker 1: calling it a career manager wise. But that's how much
- 5:37Speaker 1: appreciation Walt Whys has for the organization.
- 5:40Speaker 2: It's funny when you get a choice like this.
- 5:44Speaker 1: I feel like there was a ton of dissension and
- 5:46Speaker 1: back and forth online between two very opposite sides of
- 5:49Speaker 1: the spectrum.
- 5:50Speaker 2: You have a group that.
- 5:52Speaker 1: I think really follows the braves and knows that continuity
- 5:55Speaker 1: is important for a team that's had a lot of
- 5:57Speaker 1: success and was missing a lot this past season. Then
- 6:00Speaker 1: you have another group that's like, oh, how could they
- 6:02Speaker 1: stay eternal? They should have gone outside the org. Not
- 6:06Speaker 1: going to necessarily name names, but there were some people
- 6:10Speaker 1: that surprisingly went very against this move. And I guarantee
- 6:13Speaker 1: you number one, they don't know Walt Weise. Number two,
- 6:16Speaker 1: they don't know how the organization works. And I'm not
- 6:18Speaker 1: just talking about fans, I'm talking about writers. And number three,
- 6:23Speaker 1: just assuming that somebody else is going to come in
- 6:24Speaker 1: and bring their own philosophies is stupid.
- 6:28Speaker 2: In my mind.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Like Alexanthopolis and the Braves have a really good machine
- 6:32Speaker 1: running right now. AJ So if you bring someone else in,
- 6:35Speaker 1: I mean, you could really.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Disrupt a lot of success that they've had.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Do some players maybe need a kick in the pants
- 6:42Speaker 1: or to get more consistency that are locked up long term?
- 6:44Speaker 2: Okay, but what did their rotation look like last year?
- 6:47Speaker 1: And they were missing ronaldccuna Junior for half the year
- 6:50Speaker 1: and they didn't really do much in the previous offseason.
- 6:52Speaker 1: It sounds like they've got more cash to spend this offseason.
- 6:56Speaker 1: I think it's a great move. I think it's a
- 6:57Speaker 1: great decision. I think some of the teams that have
- 6:59Speaker 1: gotten really out side of the boxer are going to
- 7:01Speaker 1: get burned.
- 7:02Speaker 2: So we'll see.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Omaha Steaks is the official sponsor of tailgating.
- 7:11Speaker 3: Yes, tailgating, and I know about tailgating.
- 7:14Speaker 2: This guy knows you want a good burger. Mm hm
- 7:18Speaker 2: O Maha Steaks.
- 7:20Speaker 5: I've even gone so far as to buy little charcoal
- 7:22Speaker 5: grills that you can take with you that are about
- 7:24Speaker 5: the a big and take my Omaha steaks and put
- 7:26Speaker 5: them on a grill right there and eat them before
- 7:28Speaker 5: game and sometimes even after.
- 7:30Speaker 1: For more than a century, Omaha Steaks has delivered the
- 7:33Speaker 1: world's best steak experience. We all know it's not just
- 7:37Speaker 1: about the steaks. And if you want the ultimate tailgating experience,
- 7:42Speaker 1: you're ordering the steaks, shrimp, cocktail, sign me up. And
- 7:46Speaker 1: the burgers are next level as you would expect.
- 7:49Speaker 5: You can even do the chicken on a grill, the
- 7:51Speaker 5: chicken brass, the chicken right on the grill boom.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Make game day delicious.
- 7:54Speaker 1: With the official sponsor of tailgating, Visit Omaha Steaks dot
- 7:57Speaker 1: com and get thirty five dollars off with promo code
- 7:59Speaker 1: f ul at checkout that's Omaha Steaks dot com and
- 8:02Speaker 1: promo code foul at checkout terms apply sea site for details.
- 8:07Speaker 3: I mean, I love this again. I love this move.
- 8:09Speaker 3: I was my last team was the Brave, so.
- 8:12Speaker 5: I wouldn't have Alexanthopolis, but I had Snitt and I
- 8:14Speaker 5: had and I know Walt Weiss and I've seen Walt
- 8:16Speaker 5: Weiss in action, and i know what he means to
- 8:18Speaker 5: the players. And normally on this show, we come in
- 8:21Speaker 5: here and we say, ah, we know, we want to
- 8:23Speaker 5: see guys go outside the box and we want to
- 8:25Speaker 5: see this and we want to see that. But for
- 8:26Speaker 5: this one, I like this move because they because they
- 8:29Speaker 5: have long term and they've had success with this group
- 8:31Speaker 5: of people, and it just continues the continuity. It was
- 8:35Speaker 5: it was Bobby Cox, and then it was Freddy Gonzalez
- 8:37Speaker 5: and that kind of carried on, and it was Bobby,
- 8:39Speaker 5: then it was Bobby Cox's guy again Snitt and Walt
- 8:41Speaker 5: Weiss has been through all of this and he's been
- 8:43Speaker 5: there for so long. I can't I can't get on
- 8:46Speaker 5: him for not going outside the organization and getting too crazy.
- 8:49Speaker 5: I think this is good for the continuity of this
- 8:51Speaker 5: organization that needs to get back. They just won a
- 8:53Speaker 5: World Series a few years ago with a lot of
- 8:55Speaker 5: the same players. So if they spend a little bit
- 8:57Speaker 5: of money in the right places and they get you know, Schwall,
- 9:00Speaker 5: bog Back, Schrider becomes what he is. You still have
- 9:02Speaker 5: Chris Sale. You make a couple moves in the bullpen.
- 9:04Speaker 5: I think this team can compete with the Phillies and
- 9:06Speaker 5: the Mets with the division title.
- 9:09Speaker 1: I'm scrolling through to try and provide a little more proof.
- 9:13Speaker 1: So let me just bring up an example. I'll go
- 9:17Speaker 1: by name because that's what we do here on our show.
- 9:19Speaker 1: So there is a writer by the name of Chris Klegg.
- 9:24Speaker 1: He writes for Dynasty Dugout. He does Rotoballer a lot
- 9:27Speaker 1: of I think fantasy and also prospect talk, and he's
- 9:30Speaker 1: really a good follow on Twitter. I like him a lot,
- 9:32Speaker 1: and I've never really seen him be opinionated, but like this.
- 9:34Speaker 1: But yesterday he quote tweets the news and says Atlanta
- 9:39Speaker 1: completely botched this hire, and there are plenty of people like, yeah,
- 9:44Speaker 1: you want to explain more. Is the guy that covers
- 9:46Speaker 1: the game pretty closely A lot more in the minor
- 9:48Speaker 1: leagues and he said, you have an incredible core of
- 9:50Speaker 1: players locked up for the foreseeable future and should be
- 9:53Speaker 1: an attractive job to get a young, bright mind in
- 9:57Speaker 1: the game, and instead you get an old failed manager.
- 10:02Speaker 2: I was like, whoa of agism? As if?
- 10:05Speaker 1: As if, like Bruce Bochi didn't win a World Series
- 10:07Speaker 1: title a couple of seasons ago, Doc Roberts is not
- 10:11Speaker 1: thirty years old either, So so now we're in this
- 10:13Speaker 1: mode where you have to be super young and come
- 10:16Speaker 1: from somewhere else and bring these innovative, groundbreaking ideas to
- 10:21Speaker 1: the sport. It just it brought a shock factor to
- 10:23Speaker 1: me where I was like, is this how some people
- 10:25Speaker 1: in the industry that evaluate talent are looking at this hire?
- 10:31Speaker 3: Yes?
- 10:32Speaker 5: Yes, because everybody wants the new shiny toy, and sometimes
- 10:36Speaker 5: it doesn't take the new shiny toy. Sometimes it takes
- 10:38Speaker 5: the right guy in the right place. So yeah, this is.
- 10:41Speaker 3: Just listen now, it is clickbait to me.
- 10:42Speaker 5: Oh yeah, what's he gonna say, Hey, this is a
- 10:45Speaker 5: great hire. If I write that, then nobody's gonna click
- 10:47Speaker 5: on my article. So yeah, I don't think that that
- 10:52Speaker 5: because you see Tony Vatello get a job, because you
- 10:54Speaker 5: see who get a job right, Like, who else get
- 10:58Speaker 5: a joke in Washington for a team that's not going
- 11:02Speaker 5: to try to win. You're trying to win, And what
- 11:04Speaker 5: did Jim Boden say yesterday? If you have a team
- 11:07Speaker 5: that's trying to win, you bring in a veteran guy
- 11:10Speaker 5: to help him try to win. You don't bring in
- 11:12Speaker 5: the young guy. Most of the time. It doesn't work.
- 11:15Speaker 5: Sorry the way you mean too. Yeah, it felt like
- 11:19Speaker 5: he was like it felt like he was like, oh, yeah,
- 11:22Speaker 5: there's there's like a there's like a stable of just
- 11:25Speaker 5: young like up and coming executive people who are gonna
- 11:30Speaker 5: be big league managers. Like No, the reason that those
- 11:34Speaker 5: young guys get hired is because teams can say, come
- 11:39Speaker 5: and be my puppet and then you dance, dance over here,
- 11:43Speaker 5: you'll be our manager for three years. That's why Rachel Balkovec,
- 11:47Speaker 5: when we had her own said, the job now to
- 11:50Speaker 5: have is the general manager. The manager on some of
- 11:54Speaker 5: these teams that are rebuilding, is not the job to have.
- 11:57Speaker 5: People aren't clamoring for that job.
- 12:00Speaker 4: Yes, there's people that are not going to ever turn
- 12:02Speaker 4: it down because there's only thirty of them, But the
- 12:04Speaker 4: young manager teams aren't like, oh, man, we got a
- 12:08Speaker 4: hurry quick so that we can swipe up this guy
- 12:11Speaker 4: that has zero big league experience and he really knows
- 12:15Speaker 4: his numbers. No, they're hiring them to be behind the
- 12:19Speaker 4: scenes guys, to be able to pull the strings of
- 12:22Speaker 4: the young manager that wants to be the manager in
- 12:25Speaker 4: the big leagues.
- 12:27Speaker 1: And what Weiss is clearly on the same page with
- 12:29Speaker 1: Alex Anthropolos Or he wouldn't have that job for a
- 12:31Speaker 1: long period of time. Same goes with Brian Snicker. I
- 12:35Speaker 1: just want to point out that also despite being sixty
- 12:37Speaker 1: one years old, there are different variations that you can
- 12:40Speaker 1: look at with age Walt has been in the game.
- 12:42Speaker 1: It's not like he stepped out of the game for years.
- 12:45Speaker 1: He knows to the current game and.
- 12:47Speaker 2: He will kick your ass. You kick the ass of
- 12:50Speaker 2: almost any whatever year old.
- 12:52Speaker 5: He's like a black belt something jiu jitsu, some jiu jitsu.
- 12:57Speaker 3: I don't know what he is. But if you I
- 12:59Speaker 3: don't know, I saw.
- 13:00Speaker 5: I saw Walt this season out of uniform in San Diego.
- 13:05Speaker 5: I believe, and man, he is still in good shape
- 13:08Speaker 5: for sixty one. He said he's sixty one.
- 13:10Speaker 2: Gosh, sixty one.
- 13:11Speaker 4: Remember I remember when you saw him a j because
- 13:14Speaker 4: you were like, I could definitely take him.
- 13:16Speaker 5: I remember, that's exactly you know what, That's exactly what
- 13:19Speaker 5: I told him too. I said, you know what, you're
- 13:20Speaker 5: lucky your wife is here, because otherwise it'd be on.
- 13:23Speaker 3: And he just laughed. He knew, he knew he would
- 13:27Speaker 3: be Yeah, I went.
- 13:28Speaker 5: Johnny was Johnny Leroy in the Last Dragon when he's
- 13:31Speaker 5: like and I had this in the matrix, the stuff shooting? Yeah,
- 13:39Speaker 5: Last Dragon or not Last Dragon? What's it called before?
- 13:42Speaker 3: It's before Scott's time. He didn't know that. I know
- 13:43Speaker 3: what's what you're talking about. He was huge, like whoa.
- 13:47Speaker 5: He gets like the glow going and he beats the
- 13:50Speaker 5: guy up by the fountain, Johnny Lee Roy.
- 13:55Speaker 1: What about David Rosser, Mark Drossa well, Mark Bowman? The
- 14:00Speaker 1: Braves said they may have done some due diligence, but
- 14:03Speaker 1: neither DeRosa or ross were ever contacted by the Braves.
- 14:08Speaker 1: That was a fan question and a reply from Bowman.
- 14:11Speaker 1: It sounded like Danny Lehman on the Dodgers' coaching staff
- 14:15Speaker 1: and maybe John Gibbons were in the running. Anthopolis and
- 14:18Speaker 1: his presser didn't reveal anything.
- 14:21Speaker 2: Really.
- 14:21Speaker 1: He didn't reveal who else was in the running. He
- 14:23Speaker 1: didn't reveal what details led to the decision. The only
- 14:26Speaker 1: weird thing is that whit Weiss's internal and Thopolss did
- 14:31Speaker 1: say a particular conversation on Saturday led to the Monday
- 14:35Speaker 1: decision being made. Okay, I mean they wanted to really
- 14:40Speaker 1: make sure that they didn't leave any stone unturned or
- 14:43Speaker 1: whatever the phrase is. They said something along those lines. Okay,
- 14:46Speaker 1: still a long period of time to then go back
- 14:48Speaker 1: to your bench. Coach would be like, you're the guy.
- 14:50Speaker 1: But if that's what they felt like they wanted to do, Aja,
- 14:52Speaker 1: the league certainly likes it.
- 14:53Speaker 2: They waited until after the World Series.
- 14:55Speaker 1: We love it so that we could actually talk about
- 14:57Speaker 1: it for a full segment like this.
- 14:59Speaker 5: Yeah, I have no problem with the way they handle this.
- 15:01Speaker 5: Why would be mad about the way they handle this? Listen,
- 15:04Speaker 5: every organization has the opportunity to hire whoever they want,
- 15:06Speaker 5: whenever they want, And this is the guy they thought
- 15:09Speaker 5: was right personally. This is why the liberty media pays
- 15:11Speaker 5: alex antopless the big money. And as long as Terry
- 15:14Speaker 5: McGirk is involved, and you know, okay with this, and
- 15:17Speaker 5: then he's going to be the right hire, so listen.
- 15:19Speaker 3: I don't think that.
- 15:22Speaker 5: And as far as the David Ross and the Mark
- 15:23Speaker 5: de Rosa, I mean, we've we've heard this song and
- 15:25Speaker 5: dance before with those two and it hasn't worked out
- 15:28Speaker 5: there yet. So maybe after Walt Weiss, if they go
- 15:31Speaker 5: through another rebuild, those would be the right guys. But man,
- 15:34Speaker 5: have you guys ever seen anyone Mark de Rosa like
- 15:36Speaker 5: try to get a job more than Mark de Rosa has.
- 15:38Speaker 5: I mean, I like Mark de Rosa, but man is
- 15:40Speaker 5: he I feel like he's like every year he's like,
- 15:42Speaker 5: I want a job, pick me, people pick me.
- 15:45Speaker 4: When you're not in a dug euy, you got to
- 15:46Speaker 4: figure out how to be able to connect with everybody.
- 15:49Speaker 4: So sometimes when guys don't get jobs, sometimes it's you know,
- 15:52Speaker 4: how you connect with everybody on the roster. I think
- 15:55Speaker 4: that one name that you said, Danny Lahman, I think
- 15:58Speaker 4: he's got He's got so much chops for a guy
- 16:01Speaker 4: that hasn't been a manager yet. I think he I
- 16:04Speaker 4: feel like with the winning, he knows how to win.
- 16:06Speaker 4: He's been around the Dodgers, Like, I feel like he's
- 16:09Speaker 4: going to be a guy that could step into not
- 16:11Speaker 4: just a well you got to take this type of
- 16:13Speaker 4: role because he's done so much with the Dodgers behind
- 16:16Speaker 4: the scenes and he's seen how they win. You can
- 16:18Speaker 4: bring that over to another organization.

- 17:27Speaker 1: The White Sox are true to their word. They have
- 17:30Speaker 1: picked up the contract for next season on Luis Roberts
- 17:35Speaker 1: deal twenty million dollars. They tried to trade him. They
- 17:41Speaker 1: did not think that they were getting enough. Some people
- 17:45Speaker 1: reported on approximately a tenth ish related prospect top ten
- 17:52Speaker 1: versus the White Sox looking more in the.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Top five range.
- 17:56Speaker 1: And if we're being real, Aja, this is not the
- 17:58Speaker 1: Luise Robert from a couple of years ago. The stock
- 18:01Speaker 1: has fallen, so they're going to overpay him to try
- 18:04Speaker 1: and keep him and see if he finds it again.
- 18:07Speaker 2: The problem for me is that he's.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Maybe the premiere change of scenery necessary guy in the
- 18:15Speaker 1: league and they won't let him go.
- 18:19Speaker 5: How do I say this nicely? They said their payroll
- 18:22Speaker 5: was going up, Scott, and guess what, Their payroll just
- 18:25Speaker 5: went up with one move. All it took was one
- 18:27Speaker 5: move and Luis Robert picking up his option. Their payroll
- 18:31Speaker 5: just went way up. So they weren't lying about the
- 18:34Speaker 5: payroll going up. They were right on. It's an interesting
- 18:39Speaker 5: ass move, is what I'll say. Because now do they
- 18:41Speaker 5: trade him after they've just done this?
- 18:43Speaker 3: Right? Do they? I don't know.
- 18:46Speaker 2: I don't know what's gonna happen. I mean, do they
- 18:49Speaker 2: trade trading this offseason?
- 18:51Speaker 5: You don't think they'll trade them this offseason, because that
- 18:53Speaker 5: was the thing that people said. They pick up his
- 18:54Speaker 5: option and they trade.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Him, team's gonna think he's worth twenty He didn't.
- 19:01Speaker 3: Now you're going to white talks too, and a prospect.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Frequent baseball tweeter Danny Vietti posting some other information about
- 19:14Speaker 1: what you can expect this off season. You said bad
- 19:16Speaker 1: news baseball over good news. Off season could feel very,
- 19:19Speaker 1: very short. That's especially true when you have a long
- 19:22Speaker 1: series like this, and it felt long.
- 19:23Speaker 2: In a good way.
- 19:24Speaker 1: So free agency begins officially on November six. That's when
- 19:28Speaker 1: players can sign. The big boys usually wait a little bit.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Winter Meetings is December seven to ten in Orlando, Hey.
- 19:36Speaker 1: January twentieth Hall of Fame class announcement, and also at
- 19:40Speaker 1: the Winter Meetings, by the way, they'll announce that contemporary
- 19:42Speaker 1: ballot that we went over with Jason Stark that is
- 19:45Speaker 1: posted as its own video and podcast if you want it.
- 19:48Speaker 1: February tenth, pitchers and catchers report, and then aj WBC
- 19:51Speaker 1: is back.
- 19:53Speaker 3: Who's back? Yeah? I know?
- 19:55Speaker 5: And That's what's going to make this offseason feel really sure,
- 19:58Speaker 5: especially for those Dodgers guys that are going to play
- 20:00Speaker 5: on the on the on the teams for the World WBC. Man,
- 20:03Speaker 5: it's going to be a quick turnaround for them boys
- 20:06Speaker 5: to be ready to go. March fifth comes quick. That
- 20:08Speaker 5: means a spring training starts earlier. That means everything starts earlier.
- 20:12Speaker 5: So it's going to be a quick turnaround for those boys.
- 20:13Speaker 3: But I think I think they'll be okay.
- 20:15Speaker 5: They'll take a World Series for a short turnaround.
- 20:18Speaker 1: Yeah, the Team Japan players they're playing, they don't mess around.
- 20:23Speaker 1: I mean the American players too, But krats like Yamamoto, Tani,
- 20:29Speaker 1: Roki Sazaki, they're going to be firing by the beginning
- 20:33Speaker 1: of March.
- 20:34Speaker 3: They're fine, They're fine.
- 20:36Speaker 1: Spreading rumors where will show to Amanaga go? Most of
- 20:41Speaker 1: the opt out news that we've heard over the last
- 20:45Speaker 1: forty eight hours is expected. Alex Bregman, even Robert Suarez,
- 20:51Speaker 1: the list goes on and on.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Pete A.
- 20:52Speaker 1: Lonzo Shoda in Minaga's situation was unique, guys. The Cubs
- 20:58Speaker 1: first of all, could have extended this to a five
- 21:00Speaker 1: year contract from when they signed him, so they would
- 21:02Speaker 1: have had to lock in three more seasons now for
- 21:06Speaker 1: fifty seven point seventy five million dollars.
- 21:10Speaker 2: They said no.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Then he gets a player option that he can exercise
- 21:15Speaker 1: for fifteen point twenty five million dollars. He said no,
- 21:18Speaker 1: he's getting more than one year fifteen on the free
- 21:21Speaker 1: agent market. There is still one more layer that we
- 21:23Speaker 1: don't know about. I don't think a decision is needed
- 21:27Speaker 1: for a minute. The qualifying offer. It's about twenty two
- 21:32Speaker 1: million dollars this year. The Cubs can throw qualifying offer
- 21:36Speaker 1: his way. That would be more than the player option.
- 21:39Speaker 1: He probably again would say no. It does hurt your
- 21:42Speaker 1: free agency a bit. It often hurts one or two
- 21:46Speaker 1: free agents per year, and that's what the qualifying offer
- 21:50Speaker 1: is for, to try and keep prices down for certain players.
- 21:53Speaker 1: That happened to Nick Pavetta last year, and that was
- 21:56Speaker 1: to the benefit of the Padres. So I think the
- 22:00Speaker 1: first question AJ is do you think this was the
- 22:03Speaker 1: right call? We don't know the medical, we don't know
- 22:06Speaker 1: everything else going on, But do you think now you
- 22:09Speaker 1: think he was worth the three years on three or
- 22:12Speaker 1: fifty seven?
- 22:13Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 22:13Speaker 5: For me, the way he pitched. Are you finding me
- 22:16Speaker 5: another if Louise Robert, you're saying isn't worth twenty million,
- 22:20Speaker 5: Showedoime in August is not worth nineteen million. But the
- 22:22Speaker 5: way he pitched and what he's done, and the excitement
- 22:25Speaker 5: he brings and the marketing that he brings, Let's not
- 22:29Speaker 5: forget there's a big marketing component to this too, is
- 22:31Speaker 5: showdo so. I don't understand this why the Cubs wouldn't
- 22:35Speaker 5: do this. They think they're going to get him on
- 22:36Speaker 5: a cheaper deal, or they're bigger, better fish out there
- 22:39Speaker 5: they can get.
- 22:39Speaker 3: I don't.
- 22:39Speaker 5: I don't understand this at all. I thought I never
- 22:42Speaker 5: even thought this was a possibility. I thought this was like, Okay,
- 22:44Speaker 5: show does there for three more years? A nope, surprise.
- 22:49Speaker 4: The whole qualifying offer throws a wrench in it for me.
- 22:53Speaker 4: I think they want him back. I don't think they
- 22:55Speaker 4: won three more years of him. I think they see
- 22:57Speaker 4: him as somebody that will be already five years old
- 23:01Speaker 4: at the end of that contract, which in my opinion,
- 23:04Speaker 4: is not that old for pitchers. And we can name
- 23:08Speaker 4: the pretty terrible list of pitchers that got paid eighteen
- 23:12Speaker 4: million for two years this offseason this past offseason, and
- 23:17Speaker 4: you could have him for nineteen million for three years
- 23:20Speaker 4: a year. I'm I just I feel like the qualifying
- 23:23Speaker 4: offer sets the Cubs up to be like, look, we
- 23:27Speaker 4: did all that we could and it's really gonna screw
- 23:29Speaker 4: showed to because he's probably not gonna get larger than
- 23:32Speaker 4: the three year deal. And when you're giving up a
- 23:36Speaker 4: when you're giving up a draft pick, teams are just
- 23:38Speaker 4: gonna They're gonna sit there and they're gonna ham and
- 23:41Speaker 4: Hall and then he's gonna have that what is it
- 23:44Speaker 4: twenty one point seven. I think this year is the
- 23:47Speaker 4: qualifying offer. It's gonna have that hanging over his head
- 23:50Speaker 4: and it's gonna hurt him or the Cubs will be like, hey,
- 23:53Speaker 4: look we offered it to him. Hey that's a lot
- 23:55Speaker 4: of money. It's more than you would have made before.
- 23:58Speaker 4: But the reality is it's really undercut his value for
- 24:00Speaker 4: a guy that for the last two years has been
- 24:03Speaker 4: great for this team.
- 24:05Speaker 2: Can I bring up the other side? I love Shanna Naga.
- 24:08Speaker 2: He is one of my favorites to watch another very
- 24:10Speaker 2: much worse year.
- 24:11Speaker 5: AJ What I have a great team for him to
- 24:14Speaker 5: go to. He loves Chicago White Sox.
- 24:18Speaker 1: Baby wait, but his numbers weren't down a lot this year.
- 24:24Speaker 1: Got I'm just bringing up will be good for a
- 24:27Speaker 1: few years, I know, but you know it was thirty
- 24:29Speaker 1: less innings. The ERA plus went from one thirty seven,
- 24:32Speaker 1: which is fantastic, to one oh three the fifth fielding
- 24:37Speaker 1: independent pitching much higher. The XCRA expected ra A, home
- 24:42Speaker 1: run rate was up, walks up, strikeouts down a lot,
- 24:46Speaker 1: strikeouts down from nine per nine innings, so one printing
- 24:51Speaker 1: to seven point three, drake out to walk ratio obviously
- 24:54Speaker 1: going down all that, right, So the numbers did significantly
- 24:57Speaker 1: decline in year two. Do you think there's any concern
- 25:01Speaker 1: that the Cubs feel as if the league figured.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Him out a little bit?
- 25:05Speaker 1: I'm just throwing this out there, because no team knows
- 25:08Speaker 1: the pitcher more than the team that he's coming from.
- 25:11Speaker 5: Even if he has the numbers he had right last year,
- 25:16Speaker 5: is he worth eighteen nineteen million dollars a year on
- 25:18Speaker 5: the free agent market compared to another guy that's going
- 25:21Speaker 5: to possibly get eighteen to nineteen million.
- 25:25Speaker 1: I think if okay, I think if if it works, if.
- 25:31Speaker 5: You're the Cubs, if you're the Cubs, if you're the
- 25:34Speaker 5: Cubs and you have a chance, and you have a
- 25:36Speaker 5: guy that's a known commodity, loves it in Wrigleyville, has
- 25:39Speaker 5: pitched well there, has been to the playoffs, has done
- 25:41Speaker 5: all these things. And you know him, and you're saying
- 25:44Speaker 5: he's not worth nineteen million dollars a year for three
- 25:47Speaker 5: years fifty seven you're the Cubs fifty seven million dollars.
- 25:51Speaker 3: That's not that much.
- 25:54Speaker 1: If it should have been an easy five numbers, If
- 25:56Speaker 1: it's twenty twenty five numbers, if that's all you're guaranteeing me,
- 26:00Speaker 1: then he is not worth that contract, not at the
- 26:02Speaker 1: twenty twenty five numbers.
- 26:04Speaker 2: But he's not what how can you say that?
- 26:08Speaker 4: But this is what this is what organizations are doing this.
- 26:11Speaker 4: Organizations will sit there and they'll go He did his
- 26:15Speaker 4: home run. His home run rate after he came back
- 26:17Speaker 4: from the IL was the worst in baseball. It carried
- 26:21Speaker 4: into the postseason, like, we don't want this. They're convincing
- 26:24Speaker 4: themselves this is not a good option. And that's fine.
- 26:28Speaker 4: You can do that. Your formula can say we don't
- 26:30Speaker 4: want him. Who are the Cubs going to get for
- 26:33Speaker 4: the same price dollar for dollar, pitcher for pitcher? Who
- 26:38Speaker 4: are they going to get? And that's where I think
- 26:40Speaker 4: teams like the Cubs, who are clearly they're a playoff team.
- 26:45Speaker 4: They wanted to make the playoffs, they don't quite want
- 26:49Speaker 4: to go the rest of the way. They trade some
- 26:51Speaker 4: of their guys to be able to get Kyle Tucker
- 26:54Speaker 4: and then at the end of the season he kind
- 26:56Speaker 4: of kind of petered out. So we're not going to
- 26:58Speaker 4: go get and we don't. We had Cody Bellinger, he
- 27:01Speaker 4: had a great year for us and then he had
- 27:03Speaker 4: a down here.
- 27:04Speaker 3: We're fine trading.
- 27:05Speaker 4: Him instead of saying, like the team that we just
- 27:08Speaker 4: talked to Max Muncy about, we're pushing all in. We
- 27:12Speaker 4: got everything we need. We have the core that we need.
- 27:15Speaker 4: We have great pieces in Kate Horton, Justin Steele's gonna
- 27:18Speaker 4: come back. We're going to add another starting picture. We're
- 27:21Speaker 4: gonna keep showda and we're gonna add a mega piece
- 27:25Speaker 4: to our lineup because we are a rich franchise that
- 27:29Speaker 4: takes all the fans away from the White Sox and
- 27:31Speaker 4: we have this entire city of Chicago.
- 27:36Speaker 1: You guys are acting as if there's nobody else on
- 27:38Speaker 1: the free agent market there.
- 27:39Speaker 3: Are they gonna get.
- 27:41Speaker 1: Okay, okay, just I'm just presenting the other side, because
- 27:44Speaker 1: if you do truly believe that he's the free five version,
- 27:48Speaker 1: that's the decision.
- 27:50Speaker 2: That's the free Agentarez, Mike.
- 27:54Speaker 5: He's gonna make less than nineteen million or more than nineteen.
- 27:56Speaker 2: Million, Rmber. It's not about that now.
- 27:58Speaker 1: If okay, he was about it's all about that we
- 28:02Speaker 1: go through.
- 28:04Speaker 3: It's all about that.
- 28:05Speaker 1: If they go through the off season and they don't
- 28:08Speaker 1: pick up somebody to replace him in the rotation, I
- 28:11Speaker 1: think you can make a case. But if they say, hey,
- 28:13Speaker 1: we're going to save that nineteen and we're going to
- 28:15Speaker 1: do thirty year on King or c fromber Ranger, Suarez,
- 28:19Speaker 1: guys like that, then I think you can make a
- 28:21Speaker 1: case that Cubs fans will be okay, just throwing that.
- 28:25Speaker 2: Out there, that's all. It's a good debate.
- 28:27Speaker 1: We can continue this. Maybe we should bring on someone
- 28:29Speaker 1: that watched, you know, all of his starts and can
- 28:31Speaker 1: give us the perspective on the Cub side and say, hey,
- 28:33Speaker 1: here's why the Cubs really didn't like him for three years.
- 28:37Speaker 2: I know that everyone's really angry right now. That's good.
- 28:39Speaker 2: That's good, ft fam.

- 29:41Speaker 1: With Superpower, We're going in the weeds. News emerged from
- 29:45Speaker 1: Tim Healy, who writes for The Boston Globe, that.
- 29:49Speaker 2: Reliever at I'm on a v No could be in.
- 29:54Speaker 1: The mix for the Rockies open position whatever they're calling
- 29:58Speaker 1: a GM or President Base Operations. Yes, Adam out of Vino,
- 30:03Speaker 1: and you might be like, wait, did Adam out of
- 30:05Speaker 1: Vino even retire? He made a few appearances last year
- 30:09Speaker 1: for the Yankees. He didn't officially retire, but I think
- 30:12Speaker 1: this would certainly tilt you towards that direction. It is
- 30:16Speaker 1: very clear Aj that he wants to be either a
- 30:20Speaker 1: front office leader or a manager in the near future.
- 30:23Speaker 1: He pitched for the Rockies for a good chunk of time,
- 30:27Speaker 1: I think twenty twelve to twenty eighteen, and he apparently
- 30:30Speaker 1: had conversations directly with the owner owner, not the owner's son,
- 30:34Speaker 1: the owner, Dick Monfort, and those conversations have continued.
- 30:37Speaker 2: It doesn't mean that he's going to get the position.
- 30:39Speaker 1: But we did learn in the last twenty four hours
- 30:41Speaker 1: that the two candidates everyone thought were in the mix,
- 30:43Speaker 1: Amiel Sarde assistant JAM for the Diamondbacks and Matt Foreman
- 30:46Speaker 1: assistant JAM for the Guardians, are out. One of them
- 30:49Speaker 1: declined an offer, so it sounded like he had a
- 30:52Speaker 1: shot of getting it, and the other one, I think
- 30:54Speaker 1: just took himself out of the mix, maybe after meeting
- 30:57Speaker 1: with the team. So your thought on a player jumping
- 31:01Speaker 1: right from the big leagues to leading a front office.
- 31:05Speaker 5: I can't cuss on the show, but it would be
- 31:07Speaker 5: f Yeah, let's see how this goes, because this would be.
- 31:10Speaker 2: Up an unbelievable krats are you kidding me?
- 31:12Speaker 3: Right? From the player right?
- 31:14Speaker 5: Like now I control all this?
- 31:16Speaker 3: Are you kiddy me? Guessed?
- 31:17Speaker 5: And can we also get cameras to follow him around
- 31:20Speaker 5: every day? This would be the most Rockies thing of
- 31:22Speaker 5: all time if this actually happened, This would be unbelievably
- 31:26Speaker 5: Rockies right now, because one they probably could get it
- 31:29Speaker 5: for cheap. Two they did Momford could just be like, yeah.
- 31:31Speaker 3: Do those do those blah blah blah. I don't.
- 31:33Speaker 5: Oh, you don't have any money, spend too bad?
- 31:35Speaker 3: Figure it out.
- 31:35Speaker 5: I hired you right off the field, like yes, please,
- 31:39Speaker 5: And we need a documentary on this. We need someone
- 31:41Speaker 5: foul Territory will make Michael Beer and producer Lady follow
- 31:44Speaker 5: at a Monavino around day to day and do a
- 31:47Speaker 5: show on this, because this would be must watch TV
- 31:50Speaker 5: for a guy that has absolutely no experience in anything
- 31:53Speaker 5: other than playing. So if he once gets a job,
- 31:56Speaker 5: then Kratz can get a job too, So yes, let's go.
- 32:01Speaker 5: Am I am I looking for a job. I don't know.
- 32:05Speaker 5: You get a job. Everyone gets getting am I getting fired?
- 32:09Speaker 5: You know what I want to see? I want to
- 32:12Speaker 5: see it. Like AJ said, it's must see TV, but
- 32:15Speaker 5: I want to see it.
- 32:16Speaker 4: I want to see honestly, this is this is less
- 32:18Speaker 4: joking and more serious. I want to see if Adam
- 32:22Speaker 4: Anavino institutes the things that he told me when he
- 32:26Speaker 4: came when he came over to the Yankees from the
- 32:29Speaker 4: Rockies playing against some of the Rockies then I played
- 32:32Speaker 4: with them with the Yankees, and.
- 32:34Speaker 3: He had this booklet.
- 32:36Speaker 4: He had the iPad of everything and going through all
- 32:40Speaker 4: the numbers and everything, and he was just like, Rockies
- 32:44Speaker 4: didn't have any of this. Rockies are so behind the times.
- 32:48Speaker 4: And DJ le Mayhew would never say a word. And
- 32:50Speaker 4: DJ was over on the other side of the locker room.
- 32:52Speaker 4: He's like, yep, nothing, they had nothing. They had nothing.
- 32:56Speaker 4: So you know what if Otto steps in to this
- 32:59Speaker 4: role and people listen to him because he's there, maybe he's.
- 33:03Speaker 3: The perfect person.
- 33:05Speaker 4: Maybe he's the perfect person because he's come from other
- 33:07Speaker 4: organizations and they they're not afraid of.
- 33:11Speaker 3: Listening to him. I think too many people come into.
- 33:13Speaker 4: The Rockies organization and the insular like unit of people
- 33:18Speaker 4: that are there, like nobody from the outside. No, how
- 33:22Speaker 4: do you not how do you not just fall in
- 33:24Speaker 4: step with Dick Montfort, Like, how do you not just
- 33:26Speaker 4: fall in step with everything we've done for the last
- 33:29Speaker 4: twenty five years? Don't change a thing. We got a
- 33:32Speaker 4: lot of fans and maybe they look at Auto and
- 33:34Speaker 4: they're like, you know what, it's a good picture, you
- 33:38Speaker 4: know what. We think he's smart. What does he have
- 33:40Speaker 4: to say? Maybe we'll listen, And maybe that's just a
- 33:43Speaker 4: small step in the right direction, because they need somebody
- 33:47Speaker 4: who knows pitching and knows how balls work at coursefield
- 33:52Speaker 4: because it has not worked. And maybe he's like, hey,
- 33:55Speaker 4: you know what, this is exactly how it can be implemented.
- 33:58Speaker 4: So maybe it will be something totally outside the box
- 34:02Speaker 4: like this and it would maybe work.
- 34:06Speaker 3: But I am definitely here to see it.
- 34:10Speaker 2: This part's important.
- 34:12Speaker 1: We remind people all the time that the team is
- 34:16Speaker 1: run ultimately by the owner. Will it help to have
- 34:21Speaker 1: Ottamavino telling them on forts what they should be doing? Yes, example,
- 34:27Speaker 1: a Buster Posey ajay. Even if Buster Posey, would it
- 34:33Speaker 1: wasn't great at his job, which I think he'll do
- 34:35Speaker 1: a great job. He has the ear of ownership in
- 34:38Speaker 1: a way that is different. It's true you have to
- 34:42Speaker 1: be able to talk your decision makers into doing things,
- 34:47Speaker 1: and I think otta Vino would help an He's super smart.
- 34:49Speaker 2: I think he would be successful.
- 34:50Speaker 1: I like this is a little while to bring someone
- 34:53Speaker 1: right from an organization playing into running an organization. It
- 34:58Speaker 1: might be quote outside the box, but I don't think
- 35:01Speaker 1: it's off. There are some I think it's way more
- 35:04Speaker 1: crazy to bring in somebody who's barely touched the big
- 35:08Speaker 1: leagues as a coach and then have them be a manager.
- 35:11Speaker 1: You know, I think the Nats situation's way more wild
- 35:13Speaker 1: than what this would be for the Rocky. So I'm
- 35:15Speaker 1: totally with you guys. You know, I think some people
- 35:17Speaker 1: probably look at this as like, oh, they're gonna have
- 35:20Speaker 1: a player right off the field.
- 35:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:21Speaker 1: I mean the Giants essentially did that. Posey didn't spend
- 35:24Speaker 1: that much.
- 35:24Speaker 5: Buster was around though Buster was around in the front
- 35:27Speaker 5: office doing stuff. That's to me the crazy part. Like
- 35:30Speaker 5: Chris Katz is a former player, right, he was in
- 35:32Speaker 5: player development and doing this and that. Right, there's there's
- 35:35Speaker 5: a bunch of them. Brandon Gomes is a former player,
- 35:37Speaker 5: Craig Breslow, these guys had jobs that they kind of
- 35:40Speaker 5: get the lay of the land to just take a
- 35:42Speaker 5: player that literally pitched this year and throw them in
- 35:45Speaker 5: that job and say, hey, go make trades, go go
- 35:48Speaker 5: figure out the minor leagues and this and that. I mean,
- 35:51Speaker 5: it's it's way outside the box, Scott, and that's why
- 35:54Speaker 5: I'm here for let's try it.
- 35:55Speaker 3: I sat in.
- 35:56Speaker 4: I sat in when I worked for the Red Sox
- 35:58Speaker 4: and a you know, front office type of role. I
- 36:01Speaker 4: sat in on all these meetings, had to make zero decisions,
- 36:05Speaker 4: just more evaluating. Dude, Auto is not ready for six
- 36:11Speaker 4: zoom calls a day, nine you know, group meetings with scouts,
- 36:18Speaker 4: with all this stuff. I don't know how you can
- 36:20Speaker 4: be ready right away after playing, Like, go sit in
- 36:25Speaker 4: in on it for two years minimum minimum. You're having
- 36:29Speaker 4: so many freaking meetings. And then on top of that,
- 36:32Speaker 4: he's got to be he's got to be one making
- 36:35Speaker 4: decisions and making changes and going in there and going like, hey,
- 36:38Speaker 4: you know what, I came up through the minor leagues
- 36:40Speaker 4: and you were my coach. But I remember how much
- 36:45Speaker 4: you did nothing. I'm gonna have to fire you. If
- 36:47Speaker 4: he's going to run the organization the correct way.
- 36:52Speaker 1: That Rockies position might not be open in two years.
- 36:55Speaker 1: Maybe they give him an assistant gam role and they
- 36:57Speaker 1: bring someone in with him, but even still then he
- 36:59Speaker 1: doesn't have to pathway if that person does well. Whatever, anyway,
- 37:02Speaker 1: we're all over this story. There was a trade while
- 37:05Speaker 1: we've been on the show, and it's somebody who can
- 37:08Speaker 1: be quite helpful in a bullpen. The Cubs traded Andrew
- 37:11Speaker 1: Kittridge back to the Orioles for cash considerations per both teams.
- 37:16Speaker 1: Kittridge had an option that I'm assuming the Orioles are
- 37:19Speaker 1: going to pick up. They initially signed him. He had
- 37:23Speaker 1: a nine million dollar club option for twenty twenty six.
- 37:27Speaker 1: Cubs say no, they traded for him around the deadline.
- 37:30Speaker 1: Orioles say yes and get him back. You're not I
- 37:34Speaker 1: don't think legally allowed to do one of those, trading
- 37:36Speaker 1: him to you, but we want him back at the
- 37:38Speaker 1: end of the year.
- 37:39Speaker 2: It appears like that's what happened.
- 37:42Speaker 5: Exactly what happened for cast considerations, whether it's give him
- 37:46Speaker 5: a million bucks or something and it only cost him
- 37:48Speaker 5: eight million whatever, Good for you, Andrew Kittridge. I hope
- 37:55Speaker 5: you like Baltimore because you're back for in f they
- 37:57Speaker 5: suck again. Guess what you're gonna get traded again. Yeah,
- 38:02Speaker 5: good for them. We don't hear you, Scott, Scott, we
- 38:09Speaker 5: don't want.
- 38:10Speaker 3: To hear you.
- 38:11Speaker 1: It's good for Baltimore. Baltimore needs to build back up
- 38:14Speaker 1: their bullpen. Felix Bautista is not going to pitch this
- 38:16Speaker 1: coming season. There were a lot of tryouts going on
- 38:20Speaker 1: in the last couple of months for them. Pitching wise,
- 38:22Speaker 1: this is a solid veteran who's had a lot of success,
- 38:26Speaker 1: including this past season.
- 38:27Speaker 2: Not nearly as nasty as twenty twenty four.
- 38:29Speaker 1: He was off the charts good, but he was still
- 38:31Speaker 1: an above average reliever this past season for multiple ball clubs.
- 38:35Speaker 3: He was hurt at the beginning.
- 38:39Speaker 1: Yeah, at the beginning, right, but I mean he ended
- 38:41Speaker 1: up going how many appearances.
- 38:42Speaker 2: I think he's still racked up like fifty something.
- 38:44Speaker 3: Started a bunch of games.
- 38:45Speaker 5: Did didn't he start playoff games for him?
- 38:48Speaker 3: Yeah? He was starting closing.
- 38:51Speaker 4: My favorite is all the gifts is like comes into
- 38:55Speaker 4: your comes into your picnic whiffle ball game, and you
- 38:59Speaker 4: know he's just standing there like this how he pitches
- 39:02Speaker 4: and then he rows one and they're like, this is
- 39:05Speaker 4: the best whiffle ball picnic player of all time.
- 39:10Speaker 1: Well he's worth nine million dollars orioles get him back.
- 39:14Speaker 1: Bet MGM tweet on Andy Pai is saving the Dodges
- 39:18Speaker 1: season Krats, Would you like to explain what we're looking
- 39:22Speaker 1: at here?
- 39:24Speaker 4: I mean, you'll get off the track when the train's
- 39:26Speaker 4: coming through. Pie is just and Max Munsey's Max Munsey's
- 39:32Speaker 4: evaluation or not evaluation of it. But what he said
- 39:34Speaker 4: key K's reaction was key K said he said he
- 39:37Speaker 4: was sulking on the ground because he just lost the
- 39:39Speaker 4: World Series because he screwed up a fly ball to
- 39:42Speaker 4: the left center.
- 39:43Speaker 3: And then he's like, oh yeah, we called it. Nice job.
- 39:48Speaker 4: So he's fine being the being the school bus on
- 39:51Speaker 4: the on the train tracks.
- 39:54Speaker 3: Ah.
- 39:54Speaker 1: I heard key K after that game said that he
- 39:58Speaker 1: was trying to do his best really maze impression.
- 40:03Speaker 2: Because they were like, what are you doing?
- 40:04Speaker 1: Because he's like, he's looking at it the over shoulder
- 40:07Speaker 1: action and then all of a sudden he just got
- 40:09Speaker 1: the truck sticked by a dude way bigger than him.
- 40:13Speaker 5: Yeah, but it was funny. That's what made it so funny.
- 40:14Speaker 5: And then he just laid there first second, which was great.
- 40:16Speaker 5: Max's explanation was awesome. But I mean, I thought k
- 40:20Speaker 5: was gonna catch that ball, even though he said he
- 40:22Speaker 5: swears he wasn't. I thought from from what I saw,
- 40:24Speaker 5: it looked like I was like, oh, Kik's got that ball.
- 40:26Speaker 5: But then all of a sudden, Pa, He's like, no,
- 40:28Speaker 5: I got this ball. And that's what you want centerfielders
- 40:31Speaker 5: to take over. Centerfielders to take over and take charge.
- 40:34Speaker 2: That ball was carrying too.
- 40:37Speaker 3: Yes, yes it was, but it was caught.
- 40:41Speaker 1: It was caught, doesn't matter, it was caught. Great meme
- 40:44Speaker 1: from bet MGM. You can follow them for more laughs
- 40:47Speaker 1: and bet MGM players getting any sport parlay Boost token
- 40:51Speaker 1: to use it at a parlay wager made up of
- 40:53Speaker 1: entirely any sport wagers to your betslip activate the token.
- 40:57Speaker 1: If you win that wager with the token, you get
- 41:00Speaker 1: extra winnings. That's how the token works. Gambling problem or
- 41:04Speaker 1: concern called one eight hundred gambler. Hey, can we rack
- 41:08Speaker 1: these three tweets in a row as we go? I
- 41:10Speaker 1: want to get them all in during this break here
- 41:12Speaker 1: world Series Game seven most watched Rogers broadcast ever, So
- 41:15Speaker 1: that's up in Canada. Average audience ten point nine million viewers.
- 41:20Speaker 1: It's the most watched English language broadcast on record in
- 41:24Speaker 1: Canada outside of the twenty ten Winter Olympics. So that's one.
- 41:29Speaker 1: Number two. This from Mike VORKANEUV. I'm probably butchering the name,
- 41:35Speaker 1: but he's talking ratings. NBA MLB both out at Game
- 41:38Speaker 1: seven for their championships this year. Both dramatic average viewership
- 41:43Speaker 1: numbers were not close. NBA Finals sixteen point sixty one million.
- 41:48Speaker 1: World Series averaged about twenty six million watching that Game
- 41:53Speaker 1: seven into us, by the way, and then Chaidavidi with
- 41:56Speaker 1: the power of the Blue Jays reach, he said, eighteen
- 41:58Speaker 1: and a half million Canadian viewers four twenty five percent
- 42:00Speaker 1: of Canada's population watched summer all of Game seven. It
- 42:05Speaker 1: peaked at fourteen million in that Game seven.
- 42:10Speaker 2: That's crazy.
- 42:11Speaker 5: Wow, Baseball's dying. Where's the Japan numbers?
- 42:17Speaker 3: Dead? Though?
- 42:17Speaker 5: Basketball is thriving because the salary cap, and baseball's dying
- 42:20Speaker 5: because they don't have a salary cap.
- 42:23Speaker 1: I will say this to me, that has a lot
- 42:26Speaker 1: to do with how both leagues are being run Baseball
- 42:31Speaker 1: looks like the more popular sport. Yet NBA players have
- 42:36Speaker 1: way more followers and videos that could put out online
- 42:39Speaker 1: have way more views. NBA wise that part they have
- 42:42Speaker 1: us speed. I'm just saying that has to do with
- 42:45Speaker 1: something that our show is all about, right, Like MLB
- 42:48Speaker 1: is the most restrictive league by far in terms of
- 42:50Speaker 1: video rights and usage and all of that. Those are
- 42:53Speaker 1: the things that hold it back from being even bigger
- 42:55Speaker 1: in world's ahead of the NBA. It's true nfls is
- 42:59Speaker 1: in its own categor but MLB could be a very
- 43:01Speaker 1: firm number two, which it was for a long period
- 43:03Speaker 1: of time. It was number one, then it was number two.
- 43:06Speaker 1: Now people make a case for NBA versus MLB, but
- 43:09Speaker 1: those are the kind of things that hold it back.
- 43:12Speaker 1: Promoting their players, right, who promote their players better?
- 43:15Speaker 2: NBA or MLB?
- 43:17Speaker 4: Do your own, do your own math. It's super easy.
- 43:21Speaker 4: NBA commissioners all about promoting players, going on players podcasts.
- 43:26Speaker 4: The commissioner, I.
- 43:29Speaker 3: Think i'll call him number two.
- 43:35Speaker 5: You show that Turner's boss, Scott.
- 43:51Speaker 1: Okay, Bartolo Cologne having fun on social media, staying active,
- 43:57Speaker 1: staying relevant. He tweeted, such an honor to be named
- 43:59Speaker 1: Pulls twenty twenty five Sexiest Man Alive.
- 44:02Speaker 2: Thanks for keeping my seat warm. John Krasinski.
- 44:05Speaker 1: I'm guessing that John one, but he has been replaced
- 44:09Speaker 1: via photo shop by bart Aka.

- 44:15Speaker 1: FT's Sexiest Man Alive four November fourth is Eric Kratz

- 44:33Speaker 3: I'd like to thank them.
- 44:35Speaker 4: And this is an honor that I've known for minutes
- 44:39Speaker 4: now for minutes. So I'm going to celebrate this after
- 44:43Speaker 4: the show, like the Dodgers celebrated their World series.
- 44:47Speaker 1: You just thanked the people that watched. You have to
- 44:49Speaker 1: be in a cup to prove your innocitizence.
- 44:53Speaker 2: Those are the people you want to show your hat.
- 44:56Speaker 2: We got thirty seconds.
- 44:59Speaker 4: Panic Panic in Chicago showed is gone. They know their

- 45:13Speaker 5: Breaking my heart, cratch, breaking my oh Man cup fans
- 45:17Speaker 5: full panic mode just break crushes me deep down my hand.
- 45:22Speaker 2: Not criteria, Go do something.
