- 0:02This is an Unspoiled Network podcast. This is spoil Me, covering One Piece
- 0:12episodes four twenty four and four twenty five break Through, the Crimson Hell,
- 0:18Buggies, Chaos Inducing Plan, and the Strongest Man in Prison. Poison Man
- 0:26Magellan appears in these episodes. I am so glad to be hanging out with
- 0:33Buggy again. I forgot what a goon this dude is, and also the
- 0:38poison Man. I sh the poison Man's a mess y'all. Welcome to spoil
- 0:50Me. Welcome to the show everyone. I am Natasha. Thank you very
- 1:12much to Gabby for commissioning this episode. I just want to remind everybody that
- 1:22next week I begin coverage of the one piece live action. No no no,
- 1:27I said next week, I lie next recording session, which is Thursday.
- 1:36So just so you guys all know that shit is going to be a
- 1:42regular like one piece animated episode recording followed by a live action recording. It
- 1:51is going to be a lot of one Piece for a while until I finished
- 1:57that season, and it is. I'm really fascinated to see what it's like
- 2:04to watch both the animated and the live action and cover both at the same
- 2:10time. Because guys. There are times where I realize how much this show
- 2:19has gotten in my head, like in terms of the way that it'll manifest
- 2:29in like dreams and stuff like that. And when I'm covering something with this
- 2:35level of uniqueness, I guess something that is so extremely I'm trying to think
- 2:46of the word here, distinctive. I think that's what I want. When
- 2:53I'm covering something this distinctive and I go into like a real heavy coverage mode,
- 3:02it can really infiltrate my brain in a way that I don't understand is
- 3:12happening at the time. It's not until later that I'm kind of like wow.
- 3:15And this sort of happened with covering the Haunting of Hill House. I
- 3:21was covering one episode a recording session, but I was also doing live watches
- 3:25on my you know, because I was so spooked by the show. I
- 3:30didn't want to watch by myself. I couldn't handle it. So that show
- 3:38definitely began to sort of like warm its way into my head. So anyway,
- 3:46I really am excited about starting the live action. I have a couple
- 3:51of friends who are either not fans of the animated or sort of lukewarm fans
- 3:59who both said that the live action was great, so I'm excited. Okay,
- 4:09this is what a weird. So first, the chaos inducing plan,
- 4:18which I have to confess, is actually a pretty good idea. What Buggy
- 4:26does initially is he he decides that he's going to let a bunch of prisoners
- 4:34out, and frankly, I'm here for it, like this is not it's
- 4:41not I'm saying it's part of his plan, which it's really giving him some
- 4:46credit for something that is sort of accidental. But I enjoy that he has
- 4:57clearly quickly seen the advantage to getting these guys to be his supporters, and
- 5:04you know, considering that his crew has sort of turned their backs on him,
- 5:10there's a part of me that's just sort of like, well, this
- 5:12might be nice. Then Buggy will have a crew again, because I know
- 5:15he's going to be devastated when he finds out that these dudes did not have
- 5:19his back the way he was sort of expecting. I don't know why I
- 5:24should be rooting for Buggy, but I just can't help myself. He is
- 5:27such a he's such a disaster, you know what I'm saying. Anyway,
- 5:32I really have to back up and start at the beginning. Apologies if my
- 5:36voice sounds weird. Guys, I've been crying because we found Sam a home
- 5:42and it's great news, but I'm also like going to miss him so much
- 5:45and it just keeps coming over me at times that I'm not expecting. So
- 5:50apologies for my uh my, sad, sad voice. All Right, so
- 6:00this starts off. We're still in the midst of the attempt to escape Buggy,
- 6:08and well, Buggy's attempt to escape Lufy's attempt to find ace, and
- 6:16I really love seeing, in comparison to Buggy how much stronger Lufy has become.
- 6:26I keep imagining that his old rivals are going to have leveled up also,
- 6:34and it turns out that in many cases they have not, and so
- 6:41running across them again, I'm thinking that maybe they're a match for Loofy.
- 6:47And while they may be a match simply because Lufy is not being as cautious
- 6:54as he should be due to his open and honest heart, I mean,
- 6:59the the expression when Buggy realizes that Lufy has taken down a bunch of these
- 7:05weird monsters by himself was pretty hilarious. But anyway, I am, I'm
- 7:17trying to like figure out exactly where to start with these two, because there
- 7:23is a couple of different things that are going on simultaneously. So that bracelet
- 7:30on Lufy's arm that has it's a weird looking thing that I had mentioned at
- 7:36one point because I didn't recall that Nami gave it to him out of like
- 7:42the treasure and he put it on his arm, and so I had forgotten
- 7:46about it, and everybody had to explain to me, like remind me what
- 7:50it was. And I should have like realized that something that significant a change
- 7:57to like our main character's costume, when their costumes don't change often or in
- 8:05ways that are that significant, Like our guys will be wearing a different color
- 8:11shirt than last time, especially the guys. The girls have a bigger change
- 8:16in wardrobe that's much more dramatic depending you know, sometimes Nami will be in
- 8:24shorts or a skirt, sometimes a dress, like it really varies more.
- 8:28But like say, let's take Frankie and his signature thing being that he's in
- 8:33a speedo. If all of a sudden he was in shorts, that would
- 8:37be like, wait, oh, that's a pretty big change. You know.
- 8:41Solofy having this like arm bracelet that he's never had before. You know,
- 8:48I'm willing to take it just as like, oh, this is a
- 8:50symbol of friendship because Namy gave it to me. But there was a part
- 8:54of me that was kind of like not thinking through that likely this was to
- 9:00wind up becoming a thing later. I think that my expectation was going to
- 9:05be that maybe somebody would try and steal it from him, and because it
- 9:09was a gift from Nomy, he would take extra offense to it. But
- 9:11I don't think I would ever have guessed that the bracelet itself was important.
- 9:18So they're in the midst of fighting these I can't remember what they're called.
- 9:24I keep wanting to say bugogie, but that's like a type of it's a
- 9:28type of food. I don't even remember what it is, blue gory.
- 9:33Okay. So we have Buggy raising one of them into the air and spinning
- 9:39him like a top as he collapses down. And I had forgotten that that
- 9:46aspect of his powers, that he could just sort of like lift you extremely
- 9:50high into the air because his hands are not attached to his body, so
- 9:54whether he can levitate does not matter. Now Buggy does this, he feeling
- 10:00very confident about the fact that he has taken this thing down. It raises
- 10:05its head and begins to get up again, and you can see how stunned
- 10:09he is that he didn't take this thing out. He begins to run away
- 10:13from it, but then Buggy turns around and sees Loofy punching it out with
- 10:18a single punch, and he says, you got a lot stronger, didn't
- 10:24you, kid, to which Loufy says, I don't know. These things
- 10:30are pretty tough, what are they? And I wanted to be like pretty
- 10:33tough, my guy. We just saw you literally level one in a single
- 10:41punch. Look, Loofy is not somebody who tends towards humility. I'm not
- 10:50saying he's conceited, but humility requires a type of tact and self consciousness that
- 10:58Lufy just doesn't have. So it was saying, I don't know. I
- 11:03was kind of like, that's weird. You should know. Oh, blue
- 11:09gory for blue gorillas. Okay. So this is when Buggy says, it's
- 11:18no problem, we could take on the rest of them, and then he
- 11:22turns and sees all the other ones that Lufy has laid out and says,
- 11:26well, never mind, I guess you got to them already. Lufy says,
- 11:33well, I really hope that's the last of them, because I don't
- 11:35have time to mess around. And it's a mark of I think how focused
- 11:43Lufy is about getting Ace out of jail that as he goes along, there's
- 11:50no moments of consideration like, oh, should I let all of these prisoners
- 11:54out or not? It's not even entering his mind. I want to say
- 12:03for the record, as much as I am in life an abolished prisons type
- 12:13person, and I say that with an asterisk, that there are times where
- 12:18I feel like jail is the only solution for certain people, but by and
- 12:26large, it isn't the best choice for most criminals that we have in our
- 12:33system currently. A lot of people like to try it out, be like,
- 12:35well, what about rapists whenever there's you know, and the thing would
- 12:41really what it comes down to is rapists don't go to jail like that just
- 12:43doesn't happen often. So you're dealing with like a lot of non violent offenders
- 12:50oftentimes. And I want to just say that and be clear about it.
- 12:54Our justice system is also so deeply corrupt that a lot of the people in
- 12:58jail jail, I gnuinely do not deserve to be there. And all that
- 13:03said, I don't just want Loofy to willy nilly start letting prisoners out,
- 13:11because a lot of these people are truly terrible people, Like mister three is
- 13:18awful. We run into him later, was not expecting to see his ass
- 13:20again. I don't know if I remember the last time we saw him,
- 13:26whether or not it seemed like he was still alive, so I can't like
- 13:33I didn't expect to see him again, But I can't remember a specific thought
- 13:37of, oh, well, he's dead, so we'll never see him again.
- 13:41I don't know if it was that distinct, But yes, I'm sure
- 13:48a lot of these guys are genuinely like bad people. But also we know
- 13:54the world government is so deeply corrupt that I can't help but think, well,
- 14:00there's also that where we know Robin was about to be thrown in here
- 14:03for reasons that were completely unjust. And also they're straight up torturing people for
- 14:11funsies. So to that extent, it's not just a jail, it's it's
- 14:16also you're just handing people over to be tortured until they die, which is
- 14:24its own like ethical mire, you know. Anyway, all that to say,
- 14:31I had thought Lufy would be a little bit more interested in letting everybody
- 14:37out along the way, or like at least thinking about it, like listening
- 14:43to the arguments of people, and he isn't. It's really Buggy is the
- 14:48one that's sort of like weighing the pros and cons of what actually interfering in
- 14:52these other prisoners' lives, what that could do for him. So anyway,
- 15:03once Buggy realizes that Loofy is here to save Ace, he kind of freaks
- 15:11out. And it turns out he actually knows Ace. Ace appeared on the
- 15:18deck of his ship and it was sort of an out of nowhere thing.
- 15:24We get a flashback here of you know, the ship and all of them
- 15:28laughing and joking around. Buggy's wearing this like really distinct green makeup that I
- 15:33hate so much. This green. It's not a look. I do not
- 15:39like this one little bit. But anyway, they are dancing and celebrating on
- 15:48the ship here and we get I can't remember her name. I always forget
- 15:54her name and want to say like Arima, but I know that that is
- 15:58not it or anee A Tira. I always like, lose it, guys.
- 16:03But she is over here saying, is this really the time to celebrate
- 16:07when you don't have any idea where they are? Alvida, that's what it
- 16:11is. And he says, don't be such a party pooper. We'll find
- 16:17Lufy when we find him, so just calm down. And then Ace jumps
- 16:22in and says, if you're looking for Lufy, I can tell you where
- 16:25he is. And Buggy, without missing a beat, it's like, see,
- 16:30there you go. This fellow can lead us straight to him at any
- 16:33time. And then all of a sudden stops and he's like, wait a
- 16:37minute, who the hell are you? Doesn't seem to have noticed Ace's presence,
- 16:44and it doesn't. I don't know how long Ace has actually been there,
- 16:47you know, And he says, sorry for crashing your party. The
- 16:51name's Ace, as you might guess, I was drawn here by the delicious
- 16:55aroma of your feast. Thanks for feeding me. Buggy gets all bashful and
- 17:03sort of like sheepish. No need to be polite. We're all friends here.
- 17:07It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance friend. But as he's saying this,
- 17:12Ace has like seated himself and started eating again, which seems to have
- 17:15irritated Buggy, and he says, just because you introduce yourself doesn't mean you
- 17:19get to eat my food, my ship, my banquet, my rules.
- 17:26Everybody else apparently has recognized who Ace is, that he's from Whitebeard's crew,
- 17:32that he's Firefist, that he's a big fucking deal, and are basically like,
- 17:37hey, Buggy, you may want to lay off because this guy is
- 17:41nobody to fuck with. And Ace just starts to say, like, oh
- 17:45yeah, that's uh, you know, that is the person that I work
- 17:51for, and then he like passes out asleep, and that is the end
- 17:56of the flashback, is him just asleep with his mouthful food. It's always
- 18:02so weird how the members of Lufy's family all seem to have that like falling
- 18:07asleep mid sentence thing in common. It's just a very strange trait. So
- 18:17this is when Lufy says, I'm trying to get to level five? Can
- 18:22you show me how to get there? And Bubby says, no way,
- 18:29you can find your own way down. Do you think I'm your friend now?
- 18:33In fact, you can die down there for all I care, and
- 18:41he starts to walk away with by the way, this enormous axe on his
- 18:45back. When I say enormous, that ax is the size of like a
- 18:48twin bed. And he is walking out, and he says something like he
- 18:57starts to sort of realize because Lufy says, there's ten battleships out there,
- 19:06so if you're thinking you're just gonna like stroll on out, that's not gonna
- 19:10happen. And Buggy is like, oh, I bet because they're about to
- 19:17execute Ace. That white Beard has a bunch of ships coming for him and
- 19:22they're probably expecting an attack on him. This is a really bad time to
- 19:26try and bust out. I guess maybe I should just lay low, and
- 19:32Loofy is just like, all right, well, I'll look at talk to
- 19:36these other prisoners and see if there's anybody else who could help me. And
- 19:42then we see Buggy get this real weird look on his face and he zeros
- 19:48in on the arm bracelet. He calls it later an armlet, which to
- 19:56me just sounds like a very tiny arm I'm sure armlet is correct, Like
- 20:03you know, it doesn't sound right to me, but anyway, he zeros
- 20:11in on this. Lufy is about to say, all right, cool,
- 20:15I gotta get moving, and all of a sudden, Buggy jumps on him
- 20:19and is like, wait, never mind, don't go, and he makes
- 20:26a deal. He's telling him that arm bracelet has really loved you. Do
- 20:33you think you could give it to me pretty please? If you give it
- 20:37to me, I'll tell you how to find ace, And Lufy says,
- 20:44all right, you've got a deal. I thought this was surprising though,
- 20:49because Buggy tells him, yeah, just fork it over, kiddo, and
- 20:56Lufy doesn't say not until after you've led me through. He doesn't make that
- 21:03demand. And yet after having just said fork it over, kiddo, Buggy
- 21:14jumps up into the air and like leaves his feet behind and tells Loofy to
- 21:18grab onto his feet. So it's a weird thing where it sounds like he's
- 21:25going to try and rip Loufy off and you know, pretend he'll help,
- 21:30but just take the bracelet and go. And then after trying to do that
- 21:36and there being no perceivable pushback from Lufy at all, he completely abandons that
- 21:41plan and begins to lead Lufy after all. So I was just a little
- 21:47confused why they even have it. In the dialogue that he says to like
- 21:52fork it over, because if you do have that, then you should have
- 21:56Lufy saying not until or else. Just don't have Buggy say it. You
- 22:02know. It was a weird moment where he like makes it seem like it's
- 22:04going to be a thing, and then he lets it go almost immediately.
- 22:11Then we get a moment that I actually really enjoy and sort of wish we
- 22:15had more of in this series. Buggy is telling Lufy to be careful with
- 22:21his feet, don't drop them, and then we get a like still frame
- 22:27as it moves out of the way, and the announcer saying, let's review
- 22:32how Buggy's chop chop powers work, shall we? When he chop chops his
- 22:36body into pieces, he can control each part however he likes, but only
- 22:40within a limited area, and if his feet aren't close to the ground,
- 22:45he becomes unable to levitate the rest of his body, which is news to
- 22:52me. I am extremely curious if this is an established from the start,
- 23:00or if this is being told like thrown into the pot at this point in
- 23:06order to establish some of the things that happen later. And I can't,
- 23:12you know, like anybody who is the chat is completely empty again, which
- 23:18I have to assume that part of this is due to the fact that I
- 23:22have changed the room that I'm recording in due to the movement of crowdcast to
- 23:27version two. But if there is anybody there listening who can tell me whether
- 23:34or not this was canon in the first place or if this is a I
- 23:41hesitate to call it retcon, because that only refers to making something happen.
- 23:45Making something that has already happened makes sense, like, after all, even
- 23:49though it didn't seem to make sense at the time, And that's not really
- 23:53what this is. I'm just wondering if it's like a completely new rule that
- 24:00is being established. Oh, Gus is here, Hi Gus. Gus says,
- 24:04the only thing that was shown in the early episodes is that his feet
- 24:07can't fly like his other parts can. Okay, I accept then that this
- 24:15rule was established from the start, but they felt the need to remind us
- 24:21of it because it's been a while since we have seen him, and also
- 24:25evidently it wasn't explicitly said in the first place, so they wanted to like
- 24:29let us know exactly how that mechanism sort of functions with his power. Okay,
- 24:37for the record, I wouldn't have been mad if they just made up
- 24:40this new rule. I really wouldn't, but I was just curious about it.
- 24:45So Buggy is running along congratulating himself on this great deal that he's got
- 24:51when he is about to get this bracelet from Loofy, and we get another
- 24:56flashback. He was on an island, and the island had like a big
- 25:03mountain that was sort of skull shaped in the center of it, which I
- 25:06enjoyed the aesthetic of a lot. And he's underground, like going through the
- 25:12different tunnels, and he's with Moji, who was saying, are you sure
- 25:17this is the cave where Captain John kept his treasure and the crew he left
- 25:21behind never found it. The whole time, this seems a bit too easy,
- 25:26and Buggy is telling him just to shut up and keep walking. Look
- 25:30alive, boys, The treasure is near, but so is unspeakable danger.
- 25:34If you let your guard down even for a second, death will creep up
- 25:38on you. There's no telling what kind of monsters will appear, or vicious
- 25:42booby traps a wait to kill us all. And then all of a sudden
- 25:49they hear these miners coming up behind them. Another lovely day of carving the
- 25:56tunnels, and they're walking in here a jaunty step and a good attitude as
- 26:03if this place is just you know, their own living room. While these
- 26:07dudes are acting like everything is so they're basically acting like this is completely uncharted
- 26:14territory. Meanwhile, there are all these like electric lights strung up on the
- 26:18walls. They've got their one little lantern. It is a pretty good joke.
- 26:22So for a second the guy says who's in charge of all of the
- 26:29miners, It's like, oh, hey, you must be the new guys,
- 26:32and we get Buggy just chopping up rocks with a pick axe and talking
- 26:38about how this is all a man needs, is you know, a pick
- 26:42axe in his hands, because it's liberating. After all this labor, we
- 26:45ought to head over to the old Bilge barge for it. And then all
- 26:51of a sudden he yells, how dare you make me work like one of
- 26:53your lackeys. And this is I think at least the second, if not
- 27:03the third, time that we have had Buggy somehow get like roped into being
- 27:08a regular worker or helper. And I do really enjoy this recurring joke that
- 27:15actually, if Buggy were to just let himself be a fucking normal person.
- 27:22He could probably be happy with very little, Like there is a streak in
- 27:30him that seems almost to run counter to the rest of his character. That
- 27:36it's like this toxic ego that overrides an instinctive urge to get along with people
- 27:47and actually make friends and do regular work. And then this voice comes in
- 27:52whispering to him that he needs to like put people in their place and be
- 27:56the best and I am. So it's sort of tragic, you know,
- 28:03Like he could probably have a life he's very satisfied with without having to look
- 28:08too far for it. He seems like the kind of guy that if he
- 28:11managed to get over that part of himself, he could be happy almost anywhere.
- 28:15But he keeps ending up in these scrapes and now he's in prison,
- 28:19you know. And apparently he says like we went all over the Grand Line
- 28:26looking for that treasure, As if that wasn't crappy enough. My ill fated
- 28:30treasure hunts brought me straight to a Navy post one day, and the bastards
- 28:33threw me in this dump when they captured me. But maybe it was destiny
- 28:40all along, guiding me to captain John's treasure. So he says, Captain
- 28:45John, you know in the tunnel end here, and I was like,
- 28:48oh, okay, So I was thinking it was gonna be like Goldie Rogers
- 28:52Treasure, but no, it's a whole different thing. And at this point
- 29:00he explains to Loofy, this place is like an upside down tower. We're
- 29:06at level one, but we have to go down through two to five,
- 29:10and the deeper you get, the more infamous the criminals are. It's really
- 29:14funny though. As he's saying this, we get an animation of the upside
- 29:18down tower. Everything is labeled one, two, three, four, five,
- 29:23except for the final layer, which would be six, except it just
- 29:26has a question mark. And I find it really funny that, like it
- 29:30doesn't say six even though it is six. Like everything's just numbered according to
- 29:36where it falls. Do you know what I'm saying? So, I don't
- 29:38know what it means that it's just a question mark. So let's see.
- 29:47David says, Also, Captain Bill is mentioned again. I don't remember when
- 29:52he's mentioned. Sorry, David Gus says, Captain John's corpse was one of
- 29:56the general zombies on thriller Bar so that's where the armbank came from. Oh
- 30:03that's fun, okay, So yeah, he says, I haven't gone to
- 30:11level five. Everything I know about it is just what I've heard from other
- 30:15people. But that's where they put all the highest level prisoners, and with
- 30:19a bounty as big as your brothers was. That's I'm sure that's where he
- 30:23was put. He says, I've heard some rumors about five, but the
- 30:29theory is the criminals they send down there are so dangerous they've been completely wiped
- 30:33from history. There's a good chance that's where they took your brother. But
- 30:37the furthest I can take you is level four, so you're on your own
- 30:41after that. And Lufi says, thanks, Buggy, I thought you were
- 30:47a real jerk, but I guess I was wrong. And Buggy says,
- 30:53well, if that armlet leads me to Captain John's treasure, I'm getting a
- 30:57real bargain, kid, and then claps his hands over his mouth as he
- 31:03realizes what he just said. Loofy continues to converse as if he didn't say
- 31:08this. So for a second, Buggy is like, oh cool, he
- 31:11wasn't even fucking listening to me. I can't believe I just blurted that out,
- 31:15but it seems like it's fine. I'm glad he's so dumb. But
- 31:21then Lufy is like, wow, so a treasure map on this armband?
- 31:25Huh? I had no idea. I guess that'll be really fun. And
- 31:30then we see Buggy's face get really like manic for a second, and he's
- 31:38like, well, sorry, kid, if you know the truth, I'll
- 31:42have to kill you, and he pulls his axe out and he turns around
- 31:48ready to attack Loofy fully like prepared to do it. And when he comes
- 31:55face to face with Loofy, Lufy's got his hand out with the armband in
- 32:00his hand, saying you better take this now in case I forget later,
- 32:06and Bucky is like, what the fuck, dude, I just told you
- 32:09there's a treasure map in it, and you're just gonna fucking hand it over,
- 32:15to which Loofy says, Treasure's cool and all, but ace is way
- 32:20more important, and Buggy says, but if you give it to me now,
- 32:24what's to stop me from running off with it and leaving you here to
- 32:28die? And Lufy says nothing, I guess, but you gave your word
- 32:34you would help me, and that's good enough for me, and we get
- 32:40after that moment a sequence of it's like a monologue. This shit had me
- 32:49laughing so hard, you guys, I was cracking up. There are just
- 32:54there are some things in this show that I could say are objectively funnier than
- 33:00things, and then there are things like this where I'm like, I feel
- 33:02like this isn't as funny as it seemed to me at the time. I
- 33:08do not know what got me so hard about that. So first of all,
- 33:19the image is a buggy crying and snotting, but also with like sparkles
- 33:24floating around him to indicate like he's crying, but in a good way,
- 33:30like a touched and happy way, those trusting eyes boring into my soul.
- 33:37I'm a scoundrel, straw hat, can't you see, don't do it.
- 33:42You deserve better than this. I'm no good for you. And there's something
- 33:47about this that felt so like fuck boy telling a girl to stay away from
- 33:53him that I it just really got to be like almost had Edward Cullen vibes
- 34:02a little bit. I just cackled so hard. That got me, It
- 34:08really did. So he does take it, and he has a moment here
- 34:17of like all right, Well, I appreciate that he thinks like you know
- 34:22that he's so sweet and thinks so well, But immediately after getting it in
- 34:28his hand, it's just like, all right, how do I ditch you
- 34:31and get the hell out of here? And I just wanted to be like,
- 34:37Bucky, you just found out that there are a bunch of battleships out
- 34:45there and you can't leave. What else have you got to do? You're
- 34:49talking about trying to lay low get out of here, like stick with straw
- 34:53hat. Your best bet, honestly is to stick with him, because you
- 35:00can't even fight off the blue gorillas, So you know, just maybe like,
- 35:07don't give into your instinct immediately to do your own thing, because it's
- 35:12actually a bad idea right now. So as he's thinking about that, he
- 35:16bashes into a wall like by accident, and Loofy thinks he's trying to take
- 35:22a short cut through the wall, and he's like, oh, I can
- 35:25do that, and punches right through it and they bust right into the midst
- 35:31of a bunch of navy guys. And it's a real moment. I enjoy
- 35:38Buggy just yelling at him like what the hell is wrong with you just anytime
- 35:46that Buggy is the one that seems to be acting the most reasonably, it's
- 35:51always a real sign, you know. So this is when we cut over
- 35:58to Boa Hancock, who is still being led on this weird tour, and
- 36:06this also got me laughing pretty hard. So she's thinking to herself about how
- 36:10she hopes Lufy is safe, that she told him to stay out of trouble,
- 36:14but you know, he's gonna do what he's gonna do, and probably
- 36:16that was words that just fell on deaf ears and he's thinking about she's thinking
- 36:22about like all of the things that could happen to him if he were caught.
- 36:27And as she's daydreaming here, I love this so much, she's like
- 36:32thinking like, uh, you know, I want you to take care of
- 36:37yourself and imagines Lufy taking her hand, and then her thoughts get interrupted by
- 36:45somebody trying to get her attention, and it's Hannibal, and we hear like
- 36:52the screaming of a prisoner, and Hannibal says, Whoo, that was a
- 36:58good one, wasn't it. You guys. The whole vibe of Hannibal treating
- 37:13everybody's like pain and horror, like he's bringing them to a circus. You
- 37:20know, this is like some kind of entertainment event is so hilarious, Like
- 37:25it's really I think it's the voice actor that's really taking it to the next
- 37:30level for me. But yeah, saying like, oh, that was a
- 37:34good one, wasn't it, And then do you hear that empress Well,
- 37:39not to worry, my lady, there are plenty more blood curdling screams where
- 37:43those came from. If you don't have a taste for sadism yet, we'll
- 37:46do our darndest to change your mind before this little visit has come to an
- 37:51end. And that really really is such a funny line if you don't have
- 37:58a taste for sadism yet. So then she says, silence you a cursed
- 38:06fool, and like kicks him on the ground and is stepping on him,
- 38:09and of course my instinctive like response here is the thing that, you know,
- 38:21the thing the kids say these days when somebody hot, especially a an
- 38:25older like often taller, more imposing woman, when she is like hot and
- 38:35really getting to people with her vibe, the kids say, step on me,
- 38:40you know, oftentimes step on me, mommy, step on me mother,
- 38:44or whatever. So as soon as she steps on him, I'm just
- 38:47like this, this feels very kinky, but I didn't think they'd address it.
- 38:52And then almost immediately Hannibal is just like, huh, actually this is
- 38:59kind of hot. And later on when we meet the poison Man, he
- 39:06has the exact same response, and I was like, oh, I thought
- 39:08that was going to remain subtexts. Not so it is text. It is
- 39:14just the text. So anyway, that's what's going on with Boa Hancock.
- 39:20We go back to Loofy and Buggy as Buggy is like busting through the wall
- 39:24to the surprise of all of these dudes around them. And at this point
- 39:31Buggy is like just being carried by Loofy, who's sort of using him as
- 39:37a human shield, and they wind up in this weird place that's like a
- 39:42forest, and as they're falling, Buggy is describing that everything here is like
- 39:51red. He says, this forest is a torture chamber. Every leaf is
- 39:57as sharp as a razor. That's why they all them blade trees. And
- 40:01the grass is made of spikes that pricky like needles. It's called spike needle
- 40:06grass. Original I know. The jailers release venomous spiders and chase the prisoners
- 40:12up and down the forest all day long, deadly pitchforks behind them, piercing
- 40:16needles beneath them, and cutting razors everywhere else. They run until they're drenched
- 40:22in their own blood, suffering agonies they never thought possible. This is Level
- 40:29one, otherwise known as the Crimson Hell. That is too creative. We
- 40:37don't need to be doing this. That's too much. That's too much.
- 40:44So anyway, Lufy is like, aren't we gonna get cut if we land
- 40:51like that? And Buggy says, watch this, listen up, take my
- 40:55feet and throw them down on the ground right below us. And he's like,
- 41:00okay, and he lets go of Buggy's feet, who are wearing He's
- 41:05wearing these like little white flats that are very funny to me. Anyway,
- 41:09his feet land and begin to walk by some prisoners who take a moment from
- 41:15being tortured to be like wow, that's really weird. And then his feet
- 41:20just run underneath them, and he himself can float above all of it,
- 41:25so none of the blades or spikes or anything touches them. So Lufy's basically
- 41:34riding on his back like he's a little hovercraft is kind of what it feels
- 41:39like. At the center of all of this is a huge opening that looks
- 41:46like a well, except there is no bottom to it that we can see.
- 41:52And Buggy says, if there is a way out of here, but
- 41:55nobody wants to take it, not because it's dark and skin but because this
- 42:00hole is a one way trip to level two. And if you think things
- 42:04are bad here, you ain't seen nothing yet. When people get sent to
- 42:08hell, you better believe they'll try to claw their way out. But no
- 42:12one in their right mind would dream of diving further into the abyss. And
- 42:17uh, Lufy's like, all right, cool, so this is I just
- 42:22jump in, and Buggy starts to say be careful because and before Buggy can
- 42:27finish the sentence, Lufy has jumped. He disappears into the darkness. At
- 42:31first, Buggy is sort of like, damn kid, like I can't decide
- 42:36if you're really smart or really stupid, And then he says, oh,
- 42:40actually, this is perfect. I was trying to find a way to ditch
- 42:43him. Now he's out of here. I got the bracelet. This is
- 42:45perfect. Now I can just fucking leave. So he starts to cackle to
- 42:50himself. It's a real prolonged cackle before all of a sudden, this was
- 42:58so funny this episode. Really, this is some good shit. He gets
- 43:05hit by an axe and he turns around to see one of those blue what
- 43:13are they blue gorillas? Uh, He's like, I have a chop chop
- 43:20fruit, Like, there's no point in using an axe on me. I
- 43:28chop myself up. You know, that doesn't do anything right. But then
- 43:35he turns and looks and sees that his feet have gone over the edge with
- 43:40the rest of his body, and that there is now no choice remaining to
- 43:46him at all except to follow Loofy down, and it's just his head like
- 43:53disembodied. He starts to try and like float away, just his head,
- 44:00but eventually gets yanked down because of the way you know, his power works,
- 44:05and it pulls his body down. So yeah, that is that's really
- 44:10something. What is going on down at the bottom of this it turns out
- 44:20is it says the floor of wild beasts from Hell, And it turns out
- 44:27a lot of these prisoners get fed to the monsters down here. This is
- 44:35where mister three turns up and he's just like, I'm too tired to be
- 44:39afraid anymore. I'm gonna be their dinner, sooner or later, they may
- 44:44as well feed me to one of these things today. I guess it's fine.
- 44:47He's got a very fatalist attitude, which you would after living in a
- 44:51fucking place like this. So let's jump to stroke youngest man in the prison
- 45:00next episode. I'm like running short on time here, but I really wanted
- 45:05to talk about all of those moments earlier on. So Buggy is trying to
- 45:13work with Loofy because they are down here with these monsters, and I think
- 45:17he realizes like he's not going to be able to handle them on his own.
- 45:21They have to just sort of like make it work until he can find
- 45:23another way to ditch Loofy. So there is this like growling coming out of
- 45:30the darkness, and it takes a minute, but all of a sudden,
- 45:34this little hippo with these tiny little ears appears, and you, guys,
- 45:39I don't know who like may not know this about me other than raccoons,
- 45:46Hippos are pretty much like my favorite animal. Hippos are deceptively strong. Their
- 45:53bodies are so little fat and so heavily muscled that they sink in water which
- 46:01like almost no mammals do. And they will sprint on the floor of a
- 46:09river or lake and sneak up on prey from underneath like a fucking shark.
- 46:15They are responsible for more deaths in Africa than any other animal, even lions,
- 46:22which is truly insane to me, Like they are aggressive for no lions
- 46:28eat people. Hippos are vegetarians. They don't eat meat, and they attack
- 46:34people just because fuck them, which is an energy I just feel so deeply
- 46:40in my soul. I love that. So anyway, I love a hippo.
- 46:47But then this is like a baby hippo, which is adorable and so
- 46:52makes it even better. And of course they're both kind of taken off guard
- 46:55by how small it is because they don't think that it could possibly be that
- 47:00much of a danger. And then as Buggy approaches it, this hippo just
- 47:07goes fucking ape shit. And it turns out he can run super fast and
- 47:14we'll just take a fucking bite out of you, no problem. At one
- 47:17point, this hippo like falls from a height and the impact he leaves on
- 47:22the floor is a lot bigger than his body is, Like it's like he
- 47:28can make himself bigger or larger depending on you know. It's a weird thing.
- 47:36But anyway, there is a moment here where he actually eats part of
- 47:42Buggy. He like eats what a leg and torso, I can't even remember
- 47:46what part he eats, but uh, he says, like to loofy,
- 47:53I'll just show you what you know, the chop chop fruit can do.
- 47:58And we get to see inside the hippo for a second where Buggy like grabs
- 48:04his uh I can't remember what it's called, a little part of your the
- 48:08back of your throat that hangs down and like grabs it and yanks on it.
- 48:14So the thing stops and sort of spits him out. So that seems
- 48:21to take the hippo out of the running for the moment. But throughout all
- 48:24of this we've got transponder snails that are watching them. So the rest of
- 48:30the security team is beginning to figure out who's all escaped and where they are,
- 48:37and uh, this is when things begin to go a little bit left.
- 48:42So they run into a group like a bunch of cells with all of
- 48:50these dudes yelling and telling them like, oh, you like you must be
- 48:55angels to be down here, and it's, you know, very clear that
- 49:04our friends were going to have no Oh my god, you guys. I
- 49:07forgot about the praying mantis who gets stuck. He has like blades on his
- 49:12arms, but they get stuck in the ground. I swear to God that
- 49:15shit was so funny. But anyway, they went, these these dudes,
- 49:22Like it seemed pretty obvious to me that our friends were not going to be
- 49:25saving these guys, like that was not the priority. And then all of
- 49:30a sudden, Buggy stops and is kind of like, wait a second,
- 49:35actually, maybe I should do this. So he lets all of them out,
- 49:43and he like drops the key so they can unlock their manacles and everything,
- 49:47and these guys he's like, oh good, they're all gonna owe me.
- 49:52You know, I got them out of here, and I think he's
- 49:57thinking they'll be part of his overall escape plan. But then later on these
- 50:01dudes come running back, and it turns out like they realize, oh,
- 50:06there's no way to escape this place. We forgot like it's safer, if
- 50:10anything, for us to just stay here that it is to go out and
- 50:15like attempt to escape and maybe die. And I love that Buggy had been
- 50:22about to try and ditch Loofy. They have a whole like screaming match about
- 50:27it. But the second that he realizes none of his backup is actually going
- 50:31to have his back and they don't feel any debt to him anymore, he
- 50:37just does take back siaes and it's like, uh uh, never mind,
- 50:39how about we stick together after all. So we go back to Boa and
- 50:46I love this guys. She's you know this, this blonde officer. She's
- 50:53talking to Boa and she's like, I forgot to mention it before. But
- 50:58the warden ate, the venom venom. So he's a poisoned man. And
- 51:01Boa says poison man, and this woman just says, yes, please be
- 51:08careful, and I'm like, girl, I'm gonna need you to give me
- 51:13a little bit more than oh, heads up, he's a poison man.
- 51:19I do not know what that means, and you're gonna have to be a
- 51:22lot more specific. She just says this shit like Boa should know, and
- 51:27the way Boa responds, it's clear she does not know. So go ahead
- 51:31and give her some info, lady, you know, But she doesn't.
- 51:37So then we get our introduction to this poison man, who it turns out
- 51:43eats poison and gets the shits. His name is Magellan, and I cannot
- 51:52with all of the like potty humor with this guy. He's got these huge
- 51:58horns as well, which it's an interesting thing that like he's got horns,
- 52:06he's got bat wings, And I'm like, what exactly is it that we're
- 52:09trying to say with this particular outfit, Because with Moria it felt like a
- 52:15little bit of a Tim Burton character design, which made sense because he was
- 52:20on what felt like just a straight up Halloween themed island. But this dude,
- 52:24I don't know what it is I'm supposed to be getting, Like it's
- 52:30almost a little bit like Satan, but it it's like not quite at that
- 52:38level. I don't know. I don't know, but this uh, overall
- 52:44design actually goes well together in a way a lot of the others don't.
- 52:50I like the way this dude is designed. I love when he says,
- 52:58like, my dinner ups at my stomach. Hannibal says, probably because it
- 53:04was poison. And then in the best this voice actor who's doing magellant,
- 53:12Oh, come on, I'm a poison man. I love poison. I
- 53:31have like this saysn't the kind of thing that like your six year old would
- 53:36say, you know what I mean, like, oh my god, this
- 53:40is so funny. Oh I love it so much. I'm a poison man.
- 53:47I love poison. Oh god, that's good. Let's see. Oh
- 53:58sorry, David says, what literary friends with Satan? Does this island serve
- 54:01up? Yeah? I guess it could be like the levels of Hell,
- 54:05and you know, like Dante and we do have like the Crimson Hell.
- 54:08So maybe he is just meant to be designed straight up after Satan. He's
- 54:13got a pitchfork. It looks like here too, which I didn't notice.
- 54:16So yeah, maybe it's just that that's pretty funny. Though he says,
- 54:22how's that old saying go poison kills poison? Yeah, yeah, you guys
- 54:25know what that's saying. This character, I don't know. I kind of
- 54:30like him. But anyway, this dude Hannibal is like, well, can
- 54:42you show them to firefist, And Hannibal is like, come on, man,
- 54:49I'm not supposed to do that. But then of course we have a
- 54:52whole thing with him exhaling and his poison gas breath that can like hurt people.
- 54:59But Hancock jumps on him, steps on him, and you dare try
- 55:06to breathe their poison gas on me and he says she's stepping on me and
- 55:09I think I like it, which Hannibal says lucky punk. But of course
- 55:15then Boa does the whole hey, well, could you bring me to see
- 55:22firefist ace like right away? And immediately he's like, sure, no problem.
- 55:32This is when the news comes down that there are some prisoners that have
- 55:37escaped as well, so she's just saying this to sort of distract him from
- 55:42the whole thing. We kind of need you to deal with this, Warden,
- 55:49wake up. He will not wake up. Warden is busy thirsting,
- 55:57So all of these do who are insecurity are running around trying to find their
- 56:02guy. We go back to Buggy and Loofy and Lufy has been busted on
- 56:10some monsters using third gear, so he is very very small, and Buggy
- 56:16had not seen this ability yet and is really kind of like what the fuck
- 56:21is going on when he sees him turn large again. This is when we
- 56:24get the whole sequence with all of the prisoners, which was really funny,
- 56:30And then we have Mister three who comes out and is just like, ah,
- 56:35I'm a man who always pays his debts and I love that. Lufy
- 56:39then says, do I know you? And mister three is so bummed because
- 56:45Lufy doesn't remember him and he has to hold his hair up, and then
- 56:52Lufy's like, oh, it's the three hair and it's a three and it's
- 57:00on fire, and we get a flashback of the wax power that he had
- 57:07and he's like, oh, yeah, candlelock, this should be perfect and
- 57:10turns himself into that giant swinging mallet. And I had forgotten about the whole
- 57:19thing of like being able to make copies of himself because he can make figures
- 57:24out of wax basically in what seems to be almost no time. And you
- 57:32know, the whole way that all of this goes is I was glad to
- 57:39get a refresh because I had forgotten that none of them move evidently, so
- 57:45him being like, how did you know which one was me? And it's
- 57:49just like, well, you know, the one that moves and talks is
- 57:53probably the one. So anyway, there's like that's the end of Loofy,
- 58:01And then we have a small moment where Sengoku is getting the report about Loofy
- 58:09busting into the jail and this security guy is like, I don't know why
- 58:16a pirate would sneak in sneak into impel Down. Do you have any clue
- 58:21what he might be planning? And Sengoku says, well, I don't care
- 58:25what he's planning. This is it for him. He is not getting out
- 58:30of it, and we get to see, like from underwater, the way
- 58:37impel Down is built. It's weird because it has like balconies and stuff,
- 58:42which I'm like, what is the purpose? But he says that their defenses
- 58:45are legendary and they're prepared for almost any situation. It was the guard's incompetence
- 58:52that allowed him to enter. But either way, straw Hat will never leave
- 58:55that place alive. Only one man has, and he says it was twenty
- 59:04years ago the first and only person in the history of impel Down to escape
- 59:09a pirate named Shiki the Golden Lion, and that is how the episode ends.
- 59:17And I'm extremely interested in seeing Shiki the Golden Lion because there is a
- 59:23lion man character in Cradle and I'm really wondering how much of this character was
- 59:30inspiration for that, but you know, it may be very little, but
- 59:34I'm just interested. So all right, I'm going to wrap this up.
- 59:39Thank you guys so much for hanging out with me. This show is such
- 59:44a ride. I cannot wait to start the live action next Thursday. This
- 59:49coming Thursday, my Bad, and I hope that you all will join me
- 59:52for that as well. Until then, to Ulu, motherfuckers. That was
- 1:00:28an unspoiled network. Pat
