- 0:00Speaker 1: An illegal alien from Guatemala charged with raping a child
- 0:03Speaker 1: in Massachusetts. An MS thirteen gang member from Al Salvador
- 0:07Speaker 1: accused of murdering a Texas man of Venezuelan charged with
- 0:11Speaker 1: filming and selling child pornography in Michigan. These are just
- 0:15Speaker 1: some of the heinous migrant criminals caught because of President
- 0:19Speaker 1: Donald J. Trump's leadership. I'm Christy nom the United States
- 0:23Speaker 1: Secretary of Homeland Security. Under President Trump, attempted illegal border
- 0:28Speaker 1: crossings are at the lowest levels ever recorded, and over
- 0:31Speaker 1: one hundred thousand illegal aliens have been arrested. If you
- 0:35Speaker 1: are here illegally, your next you will be fined nearly
- 0:39Speaker 1: one thousand dollars a day, imprisoned, and deported. You will
- 0:43Speaker 1: never return. But if you register using our CBP home
- 0:46Speaker 1: app and leave now, you could be allowed to return legally.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Do what's right. Leave now. Under President Trump, America's laws,
- 0:55Speaker 1: border and families will be protected.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Sponsored by the United States Department of Homeland Security.
- 1:00Speaker 3: I want to ask you about the Chamber for Entrepreneurs.
- 1:04Speaker 3: What is the inboarding process? Like, let's say, okay, I'm
- 1:06Speaker 3: an entreprecause the point of the Chamber of Commerce is
- 1:10Speaker 3: a networking organization, right, Like you get to go to
- 1:13Speaker 3: meetings and you get to meet other people in different areas.
- 1:17Speaker 3: So let's say I'm in banking, right, I get to
- 1:19Speaker 3: meet somebody who's in insurance, I get to meet somebody
- 1:22Speaker 3: who's in investing. I get to meet So now me
- 1:25Speaker 3: as a finance that's how That's why I used to
- 1:27Speaker 3: go because as a financial advisor, you're these chamber they
- 1:32Speaker 3: like had like it was like local chambers, and they
- 1:34Speaker 3: have meetings and they only let like one person in
- 1:39Speaker 3: per industry and at that meeting at like the local
- 1:42Speaker 3: chamber level, so it like one insurance guy, one investing guy,
- 1:45Speaker 3: one CPA, and then you all kind of network with
- 1:48Speaker 3: each other. Okay, I'll give you clients, you give me
- 1:50Speaker 3: clients opportunities and stuff like that. So what's the onboarding
- 1:55Speaker 3: process for entrepreneurs to get into a chamber commerce and
- 2:00Speaker 3: what's best practices for them to get the best results
- 2:03Speaker 3: out of the chamber.
- 2:04Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I mean you're ready a good point.
- 2:07Speaker 5: I mean I think there's a value if you're a
- 2:10Speaker 5: local business to being connected to that local chamber. These
- 2:12Speaker 5: are all three different levels of membership and engagement. Same
- 2:17Speaker 5: with the state chamber. I mean, if you're really trying
- 2:19Speaker 5: to do business statewide in a given state, I would
- 2:21Speaker 5: suggest you really should be involved in the state Chamber of.
- 2:24Speaker 4: Commerce where you live.
- 2:26Speaker 5: But if you really want to do business, you know,
- 2:28Speaker 5: think of US again as the national organization that's engaging
- 2:32Speaker 5: corporations that are that's engaging opportunities.
- 2:35Speaker 4: Are broad across across the world. Then the US Chamber
- 2:38Speaker 4: is a place that you should think about membership.
- 2:40Speaker 5: And you can go to each of these I mean,
- 2:42Speaker 5: go to US Chamber dot com and I think there's
- 2:44Speaker 5: a link there that can direct you to one of
- 2:46Speaker 5: our membership officers, and you know, and it's based on
- 2:51Speaker 5: what your interests are, they'll talk with you, you know,
- 2:54Speaker 5: are you interested in tech, are you interested in exporting?
- 2:57Speaker 4: Are you interested in cyber uh? Uh?
- 3:00Speaker 5: You know, they'll talk with you about your revenue and
- 3:02Speaker 5: your broke strategy and trying to make sure that your
- 3:05Speaker 5: experience as a member is rewarding and beneficial uh for
- 3:09Speaker 5: you as a member company. But again I can't under
- 3:12Speaker 5: I just can't emphasize the value of the ability to
- 3:17Speaker 5: meet individuals, to meet companies, to meet global leaders. You know,
- 3:22Speaker 5: give you an example of a brother whose name you
- 3:25Speaker 5: would recognize, Isaiah Thomas, who's a very different I'm talking
- 3:28Speaker 5: about the old Isaiah.
- 3:30Speaker 4: The younger one or the older one. Okay, man, you
- 3:37Speaker 4: know people don't know about Zeke.
- 3:39Speaker 5: I only uses as an example, but uh uh, you
- 3:43Speaker 5: know he has everything from Sharland Champagne.
- 3:47Speaker 4: He's in real estate, but.
- 3:48Speaker 5: He's also doing business, a lot of business in the
- 3:51Speaker 5: country of Colombia.
- 3:53Speaker 4: And so I brought him in.
- 3:54Speaker 5: He's a member of the Chamber, he's a member of
- 3:56Speaker 5: the International Division. He's now had a pleasure to meet
- 3:59Speaker 5: with the President of Columbia and get to know all
- 4:01Speaker 5: of those government officials and other private sector partners who
- 4:05Speaker 5: are good for his business in Columbia. And so my
- 4:08Speaker 5: point in saying that, and there are others, but I
- 4:10Speaker 5: only use use him as an example, is you know,
- 4:14Speaker 5: you have to think about what you.
- 4:16Speaker 4: Want from these organizations.
- 4:18Speaker 5: And they're more organizations that you can be member have
- 4:21Speaker 5: a membership in, but I think you need to think
- 4:25Speaker 5: about what you want in return and the value of
- 4:27Speaker 5: a membership and being in the Chamber to help you
- 4:30Speaker 5: reach your business goals.
- 4:32Speaker 3: And I just want to just real quick because I
- 4:34Speaker 3: just want to hammle this point down because so as
- 4:36Speaker 3: a business owner, you're up against a lot to be successful.
- 4:40Speaker 3: As a black business owner, you're up against even more
- 4:42Speaker 3: to be successful.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Right.
- 4:44Speaker 3: So we talk about networking and relationships and stuff like
- 4:47Speaker 3: that a lot, but people don't like, how do I
- 4:50Speaker 3: what does that mean? How do I build relationships? How
- 4:52Speaker 3: do I get in front of the right people? So
- 4:54Speaker 3: this is something that you know. This is like you said,
- 4:56Speaker 3: there's other organizations, but the Chain of Commerce is one
- 5:00Speaker 3: organization as a business owner that you can actually join
- 5:04Speaker 3: and now you can actually go to different events and
- 5:07Speaker 3: like you said, you get what you put into it, right.
- 5:10Speaker 3: So if you join and you're just a ghost member
- 5:12Speaker 3: you never do anything, then you're not gonna get anything
- 5:14Speaker 3: out of it. But if you're active and maybe you
- 5:16Speaker 3: work your way up the ranks, right and you meet
- 5:18Speaker 3: this person, meet that person, you have to put yourself
- 5:21Speaker 3: in positions to win. So this is something that's extremely
- 5:24Speaker 3: beneficial for entrepreneurs to build their network and to meet
- 5:29Speaker 3: people and to cultivate relationships because ultimately that's gonna get
- 5:34Speaker 3: you into the next door. So I just wanted to
- 5:36Speaker 3: kind of handle that point home for people that might
- 5:38Speaker 3: not fully understand the importance of it. That's that's the
- 5:41Speaker 3: reason why an organization like the chain of commerce is important,
- 5:47Speaker 3: and why you, as a business owner, should be looking
- 5:50Speaker 3: at any type of organization that you can to be
- 5:54Speaker 3: active to add value, to meet people, to you know,
- 5:58Speaker 3: be a treasurer or whatever you can be to kind
- 6:01Speaker 3: of move up the ranks, because ultimately that's only gonna
- 6:05Speaker 3: end up helping you.

- 8:57Speaker 2: Sponsored by the United States Department of Homeland Security.
- 9:00Speaker 4: Really quick.
- 9:02Speaker 7: I know we talk all the time about even valuable
- 9:04Speaker 7: for all of you, like if they were to join
- 9:07Speaker 7: Chamber of Commerce this month, Like what are some things
- 9:09Speaker 7: that can do to actually be valuable to the members
- 9:12Speaker 7: and the organization there? Because I think we hear it
- 9:15Speaker 7: as a buzz phrase, but I don't know if many
- 9:16Speaker 7: people have a framework to actually be helpful valuable. What
- 9:20Speaker 7: would you do if you're starting a new business and
- 9:22Speaker 7: you joined, what would be like the first three things
- 9:24Speaker 7: you would try to do to give the most value
- 9:26Speaker 7: to the members members there.
- 9:29Speaker 5: You mean to give a value to the business the
- 9:32Speaker 5: new member who's joining the chamber, or for them to
- 9:34Speaker 5: give value to the you chamber.
- 9:36Speaker 4: Because those are two different questions.
- 9:37Speaker 7: Nod to give value to the Chamber, because I think
- 9:39Speaker 7: you have to give first in order to be able
- 9:41Speaker 7: to receive.
- 9:42Speaker 4: That's right, Listen, brother.
- 9:43Speaker 5: One of the things that in ternally giving value to
- 9:46Speaker 5: the Chamber that we have to be smart and do
- 9:48Speaker 5: more of is show up in these policy commercations. I mean,
- 9:52Speaker 5: I tested found capital here all the time, and in
- 9:55Speaker 5: fact them there this week meeting with the Congression Black Caucus,
- 9:59Speaker 5: and we don't have enough of us who's showing up
- 10:02Speaker 5: on the policy side of this work again, And I
- 10:06Speaker 5: would argue because you know, oftentimes, you know, I'm looking
- 10:10Speaker 5: for us to show up, and Johnny beg folks to
- 10:12Speaker 5: come in and meet with the White House on some
- 10:16Speaker 5: of these regulatory policies, on tax issues and things that
- 10:20Speaker 5: shape how successful we are or not. On international trade, agreements. Again,
- 10:25Speaker 5: I don't know that we've been exposed to that, but
- 10:28Speaker 5: we need more of us to show up in these
- 10:31Speaker 5: rooms that literally I watch it.
- 10:35Speaker 4: I mean I've done a lot. This has been my career.
- 10:38Speaker 5: These rooms, whether it's in on Capitol Hill or in
- 10:41Speaker 5: your state legislatures and committees, this is where you can
- 10:46Speaker 5: be made or you can be broken because this is
- 10:50Speaker 5: where the policy is made, the regulations are advanced and
- 10:54Speaker 5: promulgated that shape business success in America, and so we
- 10:59Speaker 5: need more people to sh show up. That's how you
- 11:01Speaker 5: can contribute in helping the chamber. And certainly the work
- 11:04Speaker 5: that I do is being a part of that dialogue,
- 11:07Speaker 5: taking time to understand the issues that affect your company
- 11:12Speaker 5: on the political the policy side, and also how that
- 11:17Speaker 5: extends into the politics, because our vote matters when we
- 11:23Speaker 5: can align our vote with our economic challenges and our
- 11:26Speaker 5: economic opportunities. I don't know that we actually are candidates
- 11:30Speaker 5: and elected officials the right questions and so even on
- 11:34Speaker 5: the political side, which you know, again I come from
- 11:37Speaker 5: as well, you know, we got to really advance an
- 11:40Speaker 5: agenda and be a part of the agenda that supports
- 11:43Speaker 5: the growth of black businesses and our economic opportunity and
- 11:46Speaker 5: closing as wealth gap.
- 11:47Speaker 4: So we got to show up.
- 11:49Speaker 6: So I just want to stay right there for the
- 11:51Speaker 6: regulation and policies because I mean being part of the commerce.
- 11:55Speaker 6: The future of work is changing, right, and so if
- 11:57Speaker 6: we look at the landscape, I wonder how you guys
- 11:59Speaker 6: view it or how you're addressing the changes that are
- 12:02Speaker 6: coming from technology. Are you viewing as an opportunity or
- 12:06Speaker 6: is it more of a detriment to say, like we
- 12:08Speaker 6: need to be careful and need to have security around
- 12:10Speaker 6: the future of work in regards to AI generitor of
- 12:12Speaker 6: AI automation, how is the commerce see in.
- 12:15Speaker 5: This Well, I mean, obviously I mean AI and technology,
- 12:20Speaker 5: and in terms of the future work is an extremely
- 12:23Speaker 5: important issue the private sector generally, and it's viewed more
- 12:27Speaker 5: of an asset than a liability. But I think for
- 12:30Speaker 5: for African Americans in particular, and the research has proven
- 12:34Speaker 5: we have to be really concerned about the impact of
- 12:38Speaker 5: AI and technology in displacing workers.
- 12:42Speaker 4: What does that mean?
- 12:43Speaker 5: That means we got to think about do we have
- 12:45Speaker 5: the skills to compete for these technology driven jobs of
- 12:48Speaker 5: the future, And that means rethinking even the curriculums from
- 12:54Speaker 5: K through twelve to HBCUs and preparing our young workforce
- 13:00Speaker 5: for these jobs that are going to be at a
- 13:02Speaker 5: minimum automated or technology types of jobs. I don't know
- 13:06Speaker 5: what won't be driven by technology. And one of the
- 13:09Speaker 5: areas that I'm focused on that as you think about this,
- 13:14Speaker 5: you know the millions of people without jobs and millions
- 13:18Speaker 5: of jobs without people.
- 13:19Speaker 4: It's second chance hiring. I'm doing a lot around that.
- 13:23Speaker 5: How do we get those who've been formally concrated back
- 13:26Speaker 5: into our workforce. So that's a big priority within my
- 13:30Speaker 5: department at the Chamber, whether it's the policies or or
- 13:34Speaker 5: getting more companies to make commitments to give people a
- 13:37Speaker 5: second or a third or fourth chance. In this case,
- 13:40Speaker 5: I mean, just because you had a A A A
- 13:43Speaker 5: A A A conviction and a mine of crime ought
- 13:48Speaker 5: not prevent you from getting the job, especially in the
- 13:51Speaker 5: time when again there are millions of jobs without people
- 13:54Speaker 5: and millions of people without jobs. So workforce is a
- 13:57Speaker 5: big issue, but the technology pieces front and we have
- 14:02Speaker 5: to be a part of that in terms of making
- 14:04Speaker 5: you have the skills to be compete for those jobs.
- 14:06Speaker 1: An illegal alien from Guatemala charged with raping a child
- 14:10Speaker 1: in Massachusetts. An MS thirteen gang member from Al Salvador
