- 0:11Speaker 1: Well, here we are.
- 0:12Speaker 2: We have one of the managers in the front end
- 0:15Speaker 2: that was I don't know what you're pointing at, veteran veteran, Yes,
- 0:18Speaker 2: Alex Cora, the manager of the Boston Red Sox and also,
- 0:21Speaker 2: contrary to a sweatshirt, one of the biggest USA fans,
- 0:25Speaker 2: I mean on the planet.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Don't let the sweat your fool you. I mean, we're hey,
- 0:30Speaker 1: com on wealth, We're probably hey. We were presenting the
- 0:32Speaker 1: Americans are nerves.
- 0:37Speaker 3: Hot.
- 0:38Speaker 1: They're hot, they're hot, momentum, good hitters, good pitching. So
- 0:42Speaker 1: let's place out. We got YACHTI man, we got YAI.
- 0:46Speaker 1: If you lose with Yatty, probably he's called the Pistes
- 0:48Speaker 1: from the dugout yachty. Does he have a.
- 0:50Speaker 4: Picture that's the Marlins?
- 0:52Speaker 1: That's not is mar team? Mar Team? Behind the plate?
- 0:57Speaker 1: Is Vaski there too? Fascu much heady head? Did he retire?
- 1:01Speaker 1: He retired, but he's I don't know how it works.
- 1:04Speaker 1: He's playing, so he's like Kurtshaw, Yeah, yeah, but he plays.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Maybe he figured it out too late for that.
- 1:16Speaker 2: What's happening in the Red Sox can Besides the fact
- 1:18Speaker 2: that you are, by the way, you are locked into
- 1:20Speaker 2: the WBC because nothing makes me laugh more. First game,
- 1:23Speaker 2: I'm doing Brazil Usa text from this guy. Brazil's using
- 1:27Speaker 2: real signs? What are they doing?
- 1:30Speaker 1: Hey? The one sign with men at second that that
- 1:32Speaker 1: doesn't work? All right, all right, well we'll get right
- 1:39Speaker 1: into it then.
- 1:40Speaker 4: All right, that's one thing you are incredible at. Do
- 1:44Speaker 4: you feel like that is a lost art that is
- 1:47Speaker 4: going to die with your generation of player in the
- 1:50Speaker 4: sense that you're really good at picking up tells, telling guys, hey, gout.
- 1:55Speaker 4: You know, there's so many videos out there of the
- 1:57Speaker 4: picture coming set seeing you over his shoulder and.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Your and that that one, that one, I mean, obviously
- 2:04Speaker 1: we gotta be careful because I did whether we we
- 2:08Speaker 1: messed up in seventeen and we paid the price. But
- 2:11Speaker 1: the Philly one, the Philly one that I saw the video.
- 2:15Speaker 1: So Roman Anthony is to my left and roams at
- 2:19Speaker 1: the play with the bases loaded, and we have this
- 2:21Speaker 1: running joke in the dug out, like we running we're
- 2:23Speaker 1: gonna run the three room play, you know, like we're
- 2:25Speaker 1: gonna hit a homer, and then that one say we're
- 2:27Speaker 1: gonna run the four four room play. He hits a homer.
- 2:30Speaker 1: And everybody's like, oh, he was tipping his change up
- 2:32Speaker 1: a AC we laid the sign. Whatever, bro, don't give
- 2:36Speaker 1: me so much credit. Man, it's not that easy. I
- 2:40Speaker 1: was telling the guys yesterday we had dinner and we
- 2:42Speaker 1: were talking about you know, tipping and this and that,
- 2:45Speaker 1: and uh, you know how people kind of like they
- 2:49Speaker 1: paranoia is real, right, Okay, click saying, uh, there were
- 2:53Speaker 1: two years there that we finished last and uh, they
- 2:55Speaker 1: were all over us. Oh they got this guy, they
- 2:57Speaker 1: got the bro.
- 2:58Speaker 3: If we have.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Everybody like people claim we did, we'll be in first place. Man,
- 3:02Speaker 1: Like we were in last place for two years. But
- 3:05Speaker 1: going back to the question, isn't art is something that
- 3:09Speaker 1: it benefits a player. We're gonna help him to go
- 3:12Speaker 1: through a process and learn from it. And some guys
- 3:14Speaker 1: are good, some guys are not. And as you guys know,
- 3:18Speaker 1: you guys play with with guys that they live and
- 3:20Speaker 1: die kind of like with tips and tails, right, Like, Hey,
- 3:23Speaker 1: if you give me five pitches, I'm good, right, Sean Green,
- 3:26Speaker 1: you say give me three out of ten, I'll take
- 3:28Speaker 1: advantage of it. But to see the ball hit the ball,
- 3:32Speaker 1: especially now ninety seven ninety eight sing cut right, it's
- 3:37Speaker 1: really it's hard man. So any advantage man we can,
- 3:40Speaker 1: we can give to our hitters, help them in the
- 3:43Speaker 1: vitor room and kind of study guys. We'll do it.
- 3:46Speaker 1: We'll do it. I thought for sure two things.
- 3:47Speaker 2: First of all, I thought, for sure, you bring Alex
- 3:49Speaker 2: Cintron in here, because when I played with Alex Centron,
- 3:51Speaker 2: he said he had every.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Guy, had everybody, but he hit one eighty.
- 3:54Speaker 2: I'm like, imagine how bad you would have been if
- 3:55Speaker 2: you didn't have everyone's pitches, dude.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Jerry Corus having the Alex Center experience now in Team
- 4:01Speaker 1: Puerto Rico as a coach, Alex is a bench coach.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Joey's the third base coach. Bro I mean like he
- 4:08Speaker 1: is the whole experience play together. I got him, I
- 4:12Speaker 1: got him, I got no we score one run or
- 4:15Speaker 1: two runs against we don't have everybody he uh. And
- 4:19Speaker 1: then the other thing is is Bregman.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Bregman was big because there is good about finding things right,
- 4:25Speaker 2: because he'll and then he tells teammates too.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Like, hey, you know who you know? Alex was good.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Roberto Alomar. I played with him in winter ball and
- 4:36Speaker 1: he was excellent about it. But like you guys know,
- 4:40Speaker 1: sometimes you try like do I see it?
- 4:44Speaker 3: You know?
- 4:44Speaker 1: And no, he's making that up. No, it worked for him.
- 4:47Speaker 1: You know, likes you have your check points, you have
- 4:51Speaker 1: your ideas, and you're convicted about it. But uh not
- 4:54Speaker 1: everybody has everybody man, Like, I'm not telling you.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Centron told me he had every pitch and I'm like, dude,
- 4:59Speaker 2: you hit one a any bro.
- 5:01Speaker 1: It doesn't work nough. But hey man, you gotta pay
- 5:04Speaker 1: attention to the ship too. That's true.
- 5:06Speaker 4: Pictures, Yeah, for sure, for sure we were hit on
- 5:10Speaker 4: Alex Bragman. There just one more. I thought it was
- 5:13Speaker 4: a slam dunk.
- 5:14Speaker 1: What is that?
- 5:15Speaker 4: What is that off season like for you? Because you're
- 5:18Speaker 4: saying you saw firsthand the connections he made with those
- 5:22Speaker 4: young guys. What is that off season like for you
- 5:24Speaker 4: when you're watching? Could he could he sign here? Could
- 5:28Speaker 4: he sign here? Eventually he didn't end up signing an
- 5:30Speaker 4: he went to the Cubs.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I think this time around, Scott did a good
- 5:36Speaker 1: job with Alex coaching him through the process. At one
- 5:41Speaker 1: point the communication was off, and not in a bad way.
- 5:45Speaker 1: I think it was more business right. Alex needed to
- 5:48Speaker 1: do what was best for Scott Boris and for Alex,
- 5:52Speaker 1: you know, and uh, you know, our relationship is great.
- 5:56Speaker 1: We we stay in touch a little bit through the
- 5:59Speaker 1: off season and you know, at one point we didn't
- 6:02Speaker 1: talk because of that. But uh, that Saturday in Boston,
- 6:05Speaker 1: it was a tough one, you know, because we I
- 6:08Speaker 1: thought he was gonna come back. You know, at one
- 6:10Speaker 1: point between Friday and Saturday, I think I was like, Okay,
- 6:14Speaker 1: this is gonna happen. And then we were in a
- 6:17Speaker 1: bowling event, you know, as a team because he was
- 6:19Speaker 1: fan fast, and all of a sudden, everything came out
- 6:23Speaker 1: bro Like, everybody left the building and it was not
- 6:30Speaker 1: hard or tough. It was, you know, okay, what we're
- 6:34Speaker 1: gonna do now? And credit to correct, you know. Three
- 6:37Speaker 1: days later we pivot, you know, run prevention pitching Ranger Suarez,
- 6:42Speaker 1: and then he made the trade right before spring train started,
- 6:47Speaker 1: Caleb Durban. He's he's a good player. He's a good player.
- 6:50Speaker 1: We got Monastereo ironic enough, you know, we have a
- 6:54Speaker 1: better team now than what we had. I don't want
- 6:57Speaker 1: to say last year during spring training because last year
- 7:00Speaker 1: we had Raffie, we had Alex, we had Casas. But
- 7:04Speaker 1: is a good baseball team athletic defensive. We're gonna hit
- 7:08Speaker 1: and I feel very comfortab where we're at.
- 7:12Speaker 3: I want to talk a little bit about that.
- 7:13Speaker 5: I'm trying not to bring up last year, but you
- 7:16Speaker 5: guys got a little bit of a taste back in
- 7:18Speaker 5: the playoffs, ended up losing in a wild card series.
- 7:21Speaker 5: A lot of different guys, a lot of moving parts.
- 7:23Speaker 5: I know you're looking for maybe another upgrade at second base.
- 7:26Speaker 5: There's a lot going on, Like what's the mindset right
- 7:28Speaker 5: now for you as you inch closer, you know, to
- 7:32Speaker 5: starting the season in major leagues here.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I think the most important thing is getting our
- 7:37Speaker 1: guys back. He's been no Roman, no Duran, Noah, Bruce
- 7:44Speaker 1: Duran is back tomorrow. He's back tomorrow. So we got
- 7:47Speaker 1: tackle Tuesday for Mexico. Yeah, now I'll get outside. You know,
- 7:53Speaker 1: our guys back is very important because, as you guys know,
- 7:57Speaker 1: is the chemistry. We get it, I understand. But to
- 8:01Speaker 1: get those guys in the lineup and see how he's
- 8:04Speaker 1: gonna play out, that's very important. And by Wednesday we
- 8:08Speaker 1: get everybody back, we play them. I think that there's
- 8:13Speaker 1: two or three decisions that we have to make roster wise.
- 8:16Speaker 1: The other thing is lineup wise. We talked about it yesterday.
- 8:19Speaker 1: We got Yoshida, Rafaela, A braw Anthony, Am I missing
- 8:24Speaker 1: somebody else? I'm duran right. We got five outfielders for
- 8:28Speaker 1: four spots. Three are gonna play, one is gonna be
- 8:30Speaker 1: the age. How are we gonna manage that whole rotation?
- 8:34Speaker 1: And we will make it work. I tell you that
- 8:36Speaker 1: how we're gonna deploy Yoshida when he doesn't start, or
- 8:39Speaker 1: a bread when he doesn't start. You know, like we're
- 8:41Speaker 1: gonna have good players on the bench, which is not
- 8:43Speaker 1: a problem, it's actually a blessing. But we have to
- 8:46Speaker 1: talk players. This is how we're gonna do it, and
- 8:49Speaker 1: then at Tacks Cincinnati when we get there and hopefully
- 8:52Speaker 1: have a good season.
- 8:53Speaker 4: Rom and Anthony could have been in spring training with
- 8:56Speaker 4: you guys and could have denied going to Team USA.
- 8:59Speaker 4: Do you do you like playing in this international tournament
- 9:03Speaker 4: as AJ calls it, an exhibition, the WBC with all
- 9:07Speaker 4: the superstars, is better for his development? Or would have
- 9:11Speaker 4: been better for him to be in spring training this
- 9:13Speaker 4: year for your team in twenty twenty six?
- 9:16Speaker 1: Yeah, we had that conversation and I was a full
- 9:19Speaker 1: yes go When the Rosa call me. Being around Judge
- 9:24Speaker 1: and Kyle Schwarber is going to be very important that
- 9:26Speaker 1: I told him we have a relationship with Alex. I
- 9:29Speaker 1: get it. You know, he's our guy. We play with
- 9:32Speaker 1: him and we're gonna hang out with Braggy. But talk
- 9:36Speaker 1: to Judge, talk to Schwarve about facing lefties. He's going
- 9:39Speaker 1: to be huge. He's having a great tournament. You see
- 9:42Speaker 1: the pois Man, the bats. Even in that Italy game,
- 9:45Speaker 1: right it seems like people were anxious and there are
- 9:48Speaker 1: bats and all that. He was calm and that's who
- 9:51Speaker 1: he is. And I think this whole experience in the
- 9:55Speaker 1: exhibition tournament is going to be only an exhibition if
- 9:59Speaker 1: the USA.
- 10:00Speaker 2: By the way, just so you know, like when Puerto
- 10:02Speaker 2: Rico loses, you'll say it's an exhibition.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Doesn't mean as much. It means a lot, but you
- 10:10Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. Like for him, he's probably the
- 10:13Speaker 1: only opportunity for him to play with Judge. He will
- 10:15Speaker 1: always play against Judge. He's an opportunity for him to
- 10:18Speaker 1: play with Kyle. Kyle just sign a big contract with
- 10:20Speaker 1: the Phillies, they're not going to play together, So having
- 10:23Speaker 1: that time with them and talk about baseball and hitting
- 10:26Speaker 1: and you know the other aspects of the game is
- 10:28Speaker 1: going to be great for him and for us.
- 10:30Speaker 5: To I want to talk a little about Jaron Duran.
- 10:35Speaker 5: He's been playing for a couple of years now. I
- 10:37Speaker 5: actually had an opportunity and privilege to play with him
- 10:40Speaker 5: in the Olympics or in the pre pre trials.
- 10:43Speaker 3: I mean, absolute study. He can fly.
- 10:45Speaker 5: He was coming into his own little bit, a little immature,
- 10:48Speaker 5: but at the end of the day, he's a beast.
- 10:50Speaker 5: And I want to ask you this question about him.
- 10:53Speaker 5: Are you looking for him kind of to take that
- 10:55Speaker 5: next step being a leader on this team and you know,
- 10:58Speaker 5: moving forward because we've seen a lot of really good
- 11:00Speaker 5: things out of him.
- 11:04Speaker 1: He's important for us. And just reading articles and then
- 11:09Speaker 1: you know, watching interviews and the people talking about him.
- 11:13Speaker 1: This offseason, you know, he was a four win player.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Pretty good. That's pretty good, and that was a bad season, right,
- 11:21Speaker 1: So I mean, if he shows up here and plays
- 11:25Speaker 1: like he did last year, he's gonna help us win games.
- 11:28Speaker 1: The one thing about him he got here in twenty one,
- 11:31Speaker 1: so he's been through everything here. He was a backup
- 11:34Speaker 1: player in twenty one. He was part of the roster
- 11:35Speaker 1: squat or in the wildcard game. So he saw the
- 11:38Speaker 1: good days and then he saw the bad days. And
- 11:41Speaker 1: now that we were able to take that step forward,
- 11:44Speaker 1: we got better. We have high expectations this year and
- 11:46Speaker 1: happy for him because you know how it is man
- 11:49Speaker 1: Losing sucks, you know, and finishing last, especially in this city,
- 11:53Speaker 1: it's hard. He's hard on your family, on the player,
- 11:56Speaker 1: on the coaches, everybody else. So for him to be
- 11:59Speaker 1: able to still be in that clubhouse and let the
- 12:03Speaker 1: kids know how it is is important for me, you know,
- 12:06Speaker 1: as I always said, Yes the manager is important on
- 12:09Speaker 1: the big league level, he's less of Alex in the clubhouse.
- 12:13Speaker 1: It's better, you know, like let the players take care
- 12:15Speaker 1: of the players. I'll do my thing, you know, making
- 12:19Speaker 1: sure they you know, they're in the right spots. I
- 12:23Speaker 1: thought that was Duran. I saw some bad bags, but
- 12:28Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, Like, my job is to
- 12:30Speaker 1: set up the lineup, put him in right spots, make
- 12:33Speaker 1: sure they're good at their jobs. But having Jaron Durant
- 12:37Speaker 1: the clubhouse is used for us.
- 12:38Speaker 2: You mentioned your roster construction a little bit earlier, and
- 12:40Speaker 2: you mentioned Durban.
- 12:41Speaker 1: You traded for Monasterio came over.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Is it true that you're trying to go to Pat
- 12:45Speaker 2: Murphy route and go whole bunch of little guys because.
- 12:48Speaker 1: He won back.
- 12:49Speaker 2: Yes, he went back to back Manager of the Year.
- 12:51Speaker 2: So are you trying to go that route so you
- 12:53Speaker 2: can win the award?
- 12:55Speaker 1: I mean, if I didn't win in twenty eighteen, I'm
- 12:57Speaker 1: never gonna win it.
- 13:02Speaker 2: I mean that's the reality one like what one hundred
- 13:05Speaker 2: and five.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Games, one hundred and eight or something like that. Yeah,
- 13:08Speaker 1: but now, good players athletic versatility is very important at
- 13:13Speaker 1: this level. If you look, people talk about the Jays
- 13:16Speaker 1: last year, but they were versatile. Clement was amazing for them.
- 13:18Speaker 1: He played third, he played short, he played second. And
- 13:21Speaker 1: when you have those type of players, is this here now, IKF?
- 13:24Speaker 1: You know, like we can use him to help Trevor
- 13:27Speaker 1: survive quote unquote the whole season. You have really good
- 13:29Speaker 1: players on the bench, and when you do that, you
- 13:32Speaker 1: know you can maximize the roster. You can win a
- 13:35Speaker 1: lot of games. And going back to the little guys,
- 13:37Speaker 1: man the strike zone will say it plays out. You know,
- 13:41Speaker 1: maybe it's something that our front office they recognize and
- 13:44Speaker 1: they don't take advantage of it. But by the way
- 13:47Speaker 1: you mentioned Ike's here.
- 13:50Speaker 2: Did you talk to Carlos Febles, who used to work
- 13:52Speaker 2: for you here about the base running at third and
- 13:55Speaker 2: how ikf should have had a bigger lead in the
- 13:57Speaker 2: whole deal because he was there was.
- 13:59Speaker 1: Actually I talked to Iksy the other day. We talk
- 14:01Speaker 1: about it. You know.
- 14:04Speaker 3: It is.
- 14:04Speaker 1: I mean, like the thing is like if Rojas doesn't slip,
- 14:08Speaker 1: we're not talking about the play, yeah, Or if we
- 14:10Speaker 1: don't have true media and we can filter our show
- 14:13Speaker 1: against rities with bases loaded and one out, he never
- 14:19Speaker 1: hits the line right to third base. You know what,
- 14:22Speaker 1: I don't have true media in the dugout to kind
- 14:25Speaker 1: of like make decisions based on the filters, you know,
- 14:28Speaker 1: and man, it sucks for for them. It's something that
- 14:34Speaker 1: you know. I know Carlos took it very hard because
- 14:37Speaker 1: the criticism was. I mean, at one point in the
- 14:39Speaker 1: off season I have to call him a few times,
- 14:41Speaker 1: are you okay? Are you okay? And h yeah he was.
- 14:44Speaker 1: But it's part of coaching it. He stops smiling because
- 14:46Speaker 1: that did smiles more than anyway. I'll tell you why
- 14:48Speaker 1: he's smiling right now. He's coaching the Dominicans.
- 14:52Speaker 2: One more game, one more game, you never know, one
- 14:57Speaker 2: more game then then it will be smiling.
- 14:59Speaker 1: That's true, that's from now. That's how it works. Do
- 15:02Speaker 1: or die? Make sure we got to make sure everyone
- 15:05Speaker 1: knows the rule. It's either an exhibition, exhibition, a tournament
- 15:07Speaker 1: of the work of the world tournament.
- 15:09Speaker 4: Right, you said, you said less Alex in the clubhouse?
- 15:14Speaker 4: Who's that guy? Since you can't be in the clubhouse
- 15:17Speaker 4: and Braggie can't be in the clubhouse, who can Who
- 15:20Speaker 4: do you feel like today on March thirteenth, can be
- 15:23Speaker 4: that guy?
- 15:25Speaker 1: Crochet and Trevor Story, those two. I mean what Trevor
- 15:28Speaker 1: did last year? He played one hundred and fifty four games, right,
- 15:33Speaker 1: So that that that says a lot right the way
- 15:36Speaker 1: he goes about it. He's not a vocal leader, he's
- 15:39Speaker 1: not gonna get on people's faces, but he will show
- 15:41Speaker 1: up and prepare and he's gonna play hard, which is
- 15:43Speaker 1: very important. And then you got Crochet every five days.
- 15:46Speaker 1: You know that that's something that good teams have. Max
- 15:49Speaker 1: Free last year, Derek Cole with the Yankees a few
- 15:53Speaker 1: years ago, right, he's back this year school ball with Detroit.
- 15:56Speaker 1: You know there's other teams in the Al East besides
- 15:57Speaker 1: the Yankees, right, oh yeah, I mean both More is
- 16:00Speaker 1: a good team too, really good Toronto, They're great Tampa.
- 16:04Speaker 1: They're gonna pitch this here again. Back to the Trump
- 16:07Speaker 1: which is painting the butt, you know, But having Cruche
- 16:12Speaker 1: every five days, that's that's a leader right there. It's
- 16:15Speaker 1: like Randy Johnson, Bank of the Day, Kurt Schill and
- 16:17Speaker 1: Pedro Martinez every five days. You know, you're gonna have
- 16:20Speaker 1: that guy that either he's going to extend the winning
- 16:23Speaker 1: streak or stop the losing streak. And that's a luxury
- 16:26Speaker 1: that we have.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Well, you also have Sonny Yes, Stranger, Yes, Mayo Crochet,
- 16:32Speaker 2: Viedo Oviedo, that's that's his favorite guy.
- 16:35Speaker 1: By the way, he loves Oviedo.
- 16:38Speaker 4: That that guy's a hugante man. He's a giant. Like
- 16:42Speaker 4: I think he's very underrated.
- 16:44Speaker 1: So good luck giant. That is throwing strikes now, so
- 16:47Speaker 1: hopefully we can continue to do that. And when he's
- 16:51Speaker 1: in the strike zone, he's up there with the best
- 16:53Speaker 1: of the best. So we just got to throw strikes early.
- 16:58Speaker 1: We have a lot of too many Wilsa is gonna
- 17:00Speaker 1: be loaded.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Why do you navigate the Al East because honestly, I mean,
- 17:09Speaker 2: Yankees are obviously always the rival of the Red Sox,
- 17:12Speaker 2: but the Blue Jays were a few inches from winning
- 17:14Speaker 2: the World Series. The Oriols in Tampa's just kind of Tampa, right,
- 17:18Speaker 2: they figure it out somehow, and they you know, they're
- 17:21Speaker 2: in it.
- 17:21Speaker 1: They will pitch, they're gonna play defense. Last year, I
- 17:25Speaker 1: remember around this time, nobody was talking about Toronto the
- 17:31Speaker 1: previous year. They just had a bad season. Bo was hurt,
- 17:34Speaker 1: Laddy didn't play well. George West banged up. Your star
- 17:38Speaker 1: players played at stars. You know what's gonna happen. You're
- 17:41Speaker 1: gonna make the playoffs. And they have pitching, right, they
- 17:44Speaker 1: will have pitching this year. Again, Baltimore is kind of
- 17:47Speaker 1: like the same. It's basically Toronto last year. And with
- 17:53Speaker 1: young teams you have to be patient, right, Like it
- 17:57Speaker 1: was like Houston in sixteen fifteen they make it, do
- 18:00Speaker 1: plaoffs in fifteen. They don't make it in sixteen because
- 18:03Speaker 1: the league is kind of like, oh, they're good, so
- 18:05Speaker 1: we have to fucking play hard against them, right, same
- 18:07Speaker 1: thing with Baltimore this year. They have talent. Man, they're
- 18:10Speaker 1: gonna be in the hunt. We're gonna be in the hunt.
- 18:13Speaker 1: I don't know how many teams are gonna make it
- 18:14Speaker 1: out of the Al East because we're gonna be banging heads,
- 18:17Speaker 1: but man, it is I think all around the league
- 18:20Speaker 1: is very competitive. We are in a great I mean
- 18:23Speaker 1: as a sport, we're in a great spot. You know,
- 18:25Speaker 1: like any night, any team can beat you because somebody
- 18:29Speaker 1: in that mound is going to be throwing ninety seven
- 18:31Speaker 1: and if they're throwing strikes that night, they can go
- 18:33Speaker 1: five or six and then the bull bullpens are impossible.
- 18:36Speaker 1: So Bro, we go to Cincinnati right away, Ludolo, I
- 18:40Speaker 1: mean right away, abbot abbot, Yeah, but still the good
- 18:46Speaker 1: it's a good rotation. Then we go to Houston. Then
- 18:49Speaker 1: we got the Padres. I mean it's not easy. I'm
- 18:52Speaker 1: not saying that he used to be easy when we play,
- 18:54Speaker 1: but it's a little bit harder because of the pitching.
- 18:56Speaker 2: So we just got to be ready. Well, Excorra, thank you.
- 18:59Speaker 2: We wish you nothing but the US and go USA.
- 19:03Speaker 1: I'm not gonna go there for sure. If you want
- 19:08Speaker 1: to visit Puerto Rico, guys, you know what, you don't
- 19:10Speaker 1: have to bring your passport, right, So is the reality
- 19:15Speaker 1: of it, do you guys win. We all win. That's
- 19:17Speaker 1: the reality of it. But hey, no, Puerto Rico. When
- 19:21Speaker 1: Joey Korra dies, he's here for his country. You know
- 19:24Speaker 1: there's something special going on. True. Well, thank you, Alix.
- 19:26Speaker 1: We'll be right back.
- 19:28Speaker 3: All right, guys, here we are.
- 19:30Speaker 5: We got Richard Grisham back with his again, the president
- 19:33Speaker 5: of Out of the Park Baseball twenty seven. As we know,
- 19:36Speaker 5: it's the twenty seventh year of Out of the Park Baseball.
- 19:39Speaker 5: As people are understanding, Richard, how's everything going and talk
- 19:43Speaker 5: a little bit about this new upcoming OOTP man.
- 19:47Speaker 6: Well, first of all, I'm just I'm so happy to
- 19:50Speaker 6: be here. I love Foul Territory. We've we've been able
- 19:52Speaker 6: to spend a little time together over the years, so
- 19:54Speaker 6: it's been amazing to watch how Foul Territory has conquered
- 19:59Speaker 6: the world. So congratulations to you, guys. It's been awesome
- 20:02Speaker 6: to watch. I am so yeah. Out of the Park
- 20:05Speaker 6: Baseball it is. It's our twenty seventh straight year of
- 20:09Speaker 6: releasing this game. It is a computer game, and it
- 20:14Speaker 6: is a strategy game. So when a lot of people
- 20:17Speaker 6: think about baseball video games, they think about how quick
- 20:20Speaker 6: they can be with their thumbs on the controllers and stuff.
- 20:23Speaker 6: But out of the park baseball is all about managing
- 20:27Speaker 6: a franchise, managing a game, managing being a general manager
- 20:33Speaker 6: of a real Major League Baseball franchise. So when you
- 20:37Speaker 6: when you take the chair of the general manager and
- 20:39Speaker 6: out of the park baseball, you know you pick your
- 20:41Speaker 6: franchise and you're in complete charge, not just the major
- 20:45Speaker 6: league club, but the minor league club. You know, every
- 20:49Speaker 6: single player in your organization is under your purview. You
- 20:52Speaker 6: make all the trades, you sign, all the free agents
- 20:56Speaker 6: you you know, you can even manage all the games,
- 20:58Speaker 6: you set your lineups, you'reations.
- 21:00Speaker 1: It is.
- 21:02Speaker 6: It's everything about about major League Baseball that you know
- 21:06Speaker 6: that you could possibly have to do. It charges you
- 21:11Speaker 6: to do, and you can do as much of it
- 21:13Speaker 6: as you want to, or you can you know, you
- 21:16Speaker 6: can delegate as much as you want to. But either way,
- 21:18Speaker 6: at the end of the day, if your team wins
- 21:20Speaker 6: the World Series or if your team has the worst
- 21:23Speaker 6: record in baseball, it's all on you and uh and
- 21:26Speaker 6: and you've got the entire world of baseball at your fingertips,
- 21:30Speaker 6: and you can be caught.
- 21:31Speaker 4: If you're the one charge of the game. You can
- 21:33Speaker 4: be caught misspeaking at a interview after a poor decision.
- 21:37Speaker 4: But anyway, No, the one person that's not on the
- 21:40Speaker 4: show today has used it the most and that's Scott.
- 21:44Speaker 4: He started using it before we ever made this connection,
- 21:47Speaker 4: and he has used it so much. But you've you've
- 21:50Speaker 4: seen the maturation of this product. Oh oh otp. Twenty seven.
- 21:56Speaker 4: What is the best? What is what is your most
- 21:58Speaker 4: exciting thing about the twenty seventh version compared to some
- 22:02Speaker 4: of the earlier versions.
- 22:04Speaker 6: So it's a great question. So a couple of things.
- 22:07Speaker 6: I mean, number one, what's awesome right now is today
- 22:11Speaker 6: the game comes out today worldwide and we have the
- 22:14Speaker 6: Real World Baseball Classic in it, and this is the
- 22:17Speaker 6: first time we've ever had the real World Baseball Class
- 22:20Speaker 6: Again it when I say the real meaning it's license.
- 22:23Speaker 6: Like we've worked with Major League Baseball in the World
- 22:25Speaker 6: Baseball Classic to have the real federations and the real players,
- 22:29Speaker 6: and that was unthinkable not that long ago, just because
- 22:33Speaker 6: we didn't have the resources available to us to do
- 22:37Speaker 6: something incredible like this. So that that's something to me
- 22:40Speaker 6: that you know, I know, you know, five ten, fifteen
- 22:44Speaker 6: years ago, just that wouldn't have been able to happen it,
- 22:46Speaker 6: but it did now, you know. And another thing that
- 22:50Speaker 6: is pretty amazing when you look at the twenty seven
- 22:52Speaker 6: years that this game has been made, you know, and
- 22:56Speaker 6: you guys have seen it in action, right Like if
- 22:57Speaker 6: you're managing a game in real time, you're you're playing
- 23:02Speaker 6: it and it's being played in a beautiful three D stadium,
- 23:05Speaker 6: you know, with with dynamic crowds and players running and
- 23:09Speaker 6: jumping and swinging, and it looks like real baseball. It
- 23:13Speaker 6: wasn't that long ago, five, six, seven, eight years ago
- 23:16Speaker 6: that when you would manage a game in real time
- 23:18Speaker 6: you would just see a flat screen and little tiny
- 23:21Speaker 6: chest pawns sort of you know, walking around the screen.
- 23:24Speaker 6: Like it's not only has it become really just beautiful
- 23:30Speaker 6: to watch in action, uh, but also now that we
- 23:34Speaker 6: have all of the different three D animations and the
- 23:37Speaker 6: stadiums and stuff, it really it's a compelling experience. Whether
- 23:41Speaker 6: you're you know, you're you're looking at all the different
- 23:44Speaker 6: statistics of your guys, or whether you're managing the game.
- 23:47Speaker 6: It's sort of like no matter where you go, it
- 23:49Speaker 6: really just it's really just looks looks so nice, especially
- 23:54Speaker 6: compared to what it did three, five, seven years ago.
- 23:57Speaker 6: It's it's it's amazing the progress that it's made.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Richard.
- 24:00Speaker 2: I know you guys run simulations on this, and you
- 24:03Speaker 2: mentioned the World Baseball Classic.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Who wins?
- 24:05Speaker 2: Who wins on the simulation what country wins this year's
- 24:08Speaker 2: World Baseball Classic? So that way I know what I'm
- 24:11Speaker 2: looking forward to.
- 24:12Speaker 6: Well, I will tell you this. We've been running some
- 24:15Speaker 6: sims the last few days based upon the current situation,
- 24:19Speaker 6: and I'll tell you this, I don't think it's gonna
- 24:21Speaker 6: be a big surprise.
- 24:23Speaker 3: Man.
- 24:23Speaker 6: The Dominican Republic team looks really, really good. We run
- 24:29Speaker 6: a lot of sims, and I'm telling you right now
- 24:31Speaker 6: these days, the Dominican Republic wins the most out of
- 24:34Speaker 6: all of them. But I will tell you so, you know,
- 24:37Speaker 6: we run a lot of simulations for the Major League
- 24:41Speaker 6: Baseball season, and there's not a tremendous amount of discrepancy
- 24:47Speaker 6: at the top, but there's you know, there's usually some
- 24:50Speaker 6: material difference between Okay, well, we think, you know this
- 24:53Speaker 6: team is going to win. This team with a World
- 24:55Speaker 6: Baseball Classic, the margins are very thin. So the Dominican
- 24:58Speaker 6: Republic is coming out on top of the most but
- 25:01Speaker 6: it is razor razor thin margins between them and the
- 25:06Speaker 6: United States and Japan, Like, those are the three teams
- 25:09Speaker 6: that are when when we run those seams, one of
- 25:12Speaker 6: those three teams is winning almost all the time. Dominican
- 25:14Speaker 6: Republic as a slight as but boy, it's close.
- 25:18Speaker 5: I want to ask you, know, you said you can
- 25:21Speaker 5: manage a team you pick and choose. Are there any
- 25:23Speaker 5: other different ways that you could play this game? Or
- 25:26Speaker 5: is it all just about managing your way through the
- 25:29Speaker 5: whole process of out of the park baseball?
- 25:32Speaker 6: There are so many ways to play perfect to play
- 25:35Speaker 6: out of the park baseball, including perfect team and also
- 25:41Speaker 6: drive for the pennant. So those are just a couple
- 25:43Speaker 6: of different ways. So one of the reasons out of
- 25:46Speaker 6: the park baseball is so popular is because it is
- 25:49Speaker 6: so big, right, and you literally can manage every aspect
- 25:53Speaker 6: of a major league team, not just the rosters, but
- 25:55Speaker 6: the finances and the scouting and and everything. But to
- 25:59Speaker 6: some people that can and be kind of overwhelming because
- 26:01Speaker 6: running a major League baseball franchise is a big job
- 26:05Speaker 6: and it's very complex. So there's other ways, Like if
- 26:08Speaker 6: you're just a regular baseball fan, right, but you're not
- 26:11Speaker 6: necessarily looking to make sure you know how much your
- 26:14Speaker 6: backup shortstops fourth year salary option guarantee is you just
- 26:19Speaker 6: want to experience the entire history of baseball. You know,
- 26:23Speaker 6: you can jump into a mode called Drive for the
- 26:26Speaker 6: Pennant that allows you to say, well, I want to
- 26:28Speaker 6: go back to you know, nineteen seventy five and play
- 26:31Speaker 6: the Red Sox and it'll just guide you on a
- 26:34Speaker 6: path and various points during the season, it'll give you
- 26:37Speaker 6: a decision, Oh, do you want to make this trade?
- 26:39Speaker 6: Or oh, it's the seventh inning of a of a
- 26:42Speaker 6: tie game, so now it's your opportunity to decide what
- 26:45Speaker 6: to do. Or oh, you know this this injury just happened,
- 26:50Speaker 6: so do you want to bring up, you know, one
- 26:52Speaker 6: of your your your young guys, or do you want
- 26:54Speaker 6: to go try to sign a veteran presence or something
- 26:58Speaker 6: like that. So there's a mode it'll just sort of
- 27:01Speaker 6: guide you on the rails of the course of a
- 27:03Speaker 6: few hours over a season and you get to make decisions.
- 27:06Speaker 6: That's a really fun way to play the game without
- 27:09Speaker 6: having to feel like you need to manage everything. And
- 27:12Speaker 6: then we also have an online competitive mode called Perfect
- 27:15Speaker 6: Team where you can open digital baseball card packs and
- 27:20Speaker 6: you can get current players and historical players, and you
- 27:23Speaker 6: can just set a lineup in a rotation and you
- 27:26Speaker 6: can send that team out to play against your friends
- 27:29Speaker 6: or against a deep pool of players. And there's tournaments
- 27:35Speaker 6: and there's drafts, and there's all sorts of different ways
- 27:37Speaker 6: to just have fun building your team that way. So
- 27:40Speaker 6: there's a bunch of different ways. And the best thing
- 27:44Speaker 6: is you can you can just dip your toe in
- 27:46Speaker 6: the water and have a little fun, or you can
- 27:48Speaker 6: go all in and take over everything and anything in between.
- 27:53Speaker 1: Richard, I just want to know.
- 27:54Speaker 2: For twenty seven, Todd wants to know, did you fix
- 27:56Speaker 2: the thing where the five white Sox beat the twenty
- 27:59Speaker 2: twelve Reds. Still every time he swears that you rigged
- 28:02Speaker 2: at game when we simulated the game against each other.
- 28:05Speaker 2: So I just want to make sure that you fix
- 28:06Speaker 2: that so if we do it again, Todd can win
- 28:09Speaker 2: so I don't have to hear about it anymore.
- 28:10Speaker 6: Listen, there's absolutely no rigging of anything out of the
- 28:13Speaker 6: bark baseball. Even if I could, I wouldn't know how
- 28:16Speaker 6: to do it. But there's just no way to do it.
- 28:19Speaker 6: But that's I mean, you guys know this better than everybody.
- 28:21Speaker 6: That's one of the greatest things about baseball is what
- 28:25Speaker 6: At the end of the day, anything can happen. Anything
- 28:27Speaker 6: can happen, And just when you think you've seen it all, nope,
- 28:31Speaker 6: you have not. There's still something more that this incredible
- 28:34Speaker 6: sport will unveil to you.
- 28:36Speaker 5: Yeah, I think you need one of those umpires made
- 28:38Speaker 5: a bad call. When you talk to him next, let
- 28:41Speaker 5: him know I'm still mad. No, all jokes aside, Richard,
- 28:45Speaker 5: We appreciate you coming on here again.
- 28:47Speaker 3: Guys.
- 28:47Speaker 5: Out of the park Baseball twenty seven. It's coming out today.
- 28:51Speaker 5: Like Richard said, get your hands on one. It's absolutely incredible.
- 28:55Speaker 5: Use your mind to play this wonderful game of baseball.
