- 0:36This is the Eat More Carbs podcast.
- 0:38We're Riley Beatty Sports Nutrition, and we're a team of
- 0:40dietitians and we talk every Thursday about sports nutrition
- 0:43for the girlies. I'm Jenna and I'm the host.
- 0:45Of this podcast and I'm Riley, I'm the founder of Riley Beatty
- 0:47Sports Nutrition. We like to call it around here,
- 0:49our BSN. We're super.
- 0:50Excited to talk with y'all today.
- 0:52Before we get into today's episode, we are going to do our
- 0:54high and low. So sharing just a little bit
- 0:56about our week, the good and the parts we wish had gone a little
- 0:58bit differently. Riley, as always, can you kick
- 1:00us off high and low? Yeah.
- 1:01So my high this week is it's officially fall like in North
- 1:05Carolina. If you've ever been to North
- 1:06Carolina or you've lived in North Carolina, fall is the best
- 1:09time of the year. And I feel like we've had a
- 1:12couple of weeks of fall, but once it like hits November and
- 1:15like we're past Halloween and it's like always cool and crisp
- 1:19out and we have Thanksgiving in a couple of weeks, like I feel
- 1:22like it's like really fall. And I don't know, I just really
- 1:25missed fall when I lived in California.
- 1:27Like we loved living in California.
- 1:28Definitely sometimes side that we moved back to the East Coast,
- 1:31but definitely happy that it's fall and it just makes my
- 1:35little. Heart so happy.
- 1:36Do you guys have all like the fall colors right now?
- 1:38Most. Of the leaves, like because
- 1:40we're a little like West and we're closer to the mountains,
- 1:43like most of our leaves are like gone now, but there are some
- 1:47like of the fall colors still left, but I just feel like it's
- 1:50so cozy like it's so cozy. And then as we move into
- 1:54November, like, I feel like we kind of get rid of pumpkin spice
- 1:57things. And like, if you listen to our
- 1:58last episode, you know, I'm not a big pumpkin spice girly.
- 2:01So I'm kind of happy that we're like, out of that phase of,
- 2:04like, beginning fall now. We're like ending fall, if that
- 2:07makes sense. Yeah.
- 2:08I love that it is like a very cozy time of year and I
- 2:10definitely miss seasons now living in a place where we don't
- 2:13get it fall. What's your low?
- 2:14My low. Is for my husband, actually,
- 2:16it's kind of like by proxy because I'm really into running
- 2:20and like even though I just ran recently and I've been training,
- 2:22like I'm ready to train for something else.
- 2:24And I feel bad for him because he was like, you're going to be
- 2:26done. Like, no, we're not.
- 2:28Like, well, yeah, it's done with this one, but not done.
- 2:30Yeah, but Jenna and I planned to get into Chicago.
- 2:32Oh, yeah. Oh, my gosh, so funny.
- 2:34I was like, Nolan was getting ready for bed the other night
- 2:36and I was like, oh, by the way, I signed up for the lottery for
- 2:38Chicago. He was like, what?
- 2:40I was like, yeah, with Riley. Yeah, our fingers crossed that
- 2:43we. Get in, you know, I know all the
- 2:44fingers, all the toes, cross them all.
- 2:46How's your week going? Feel like my theme of my high
- 2:48recently has been clients or past clients.
- 2:51I have a client that I worked with for a good amount of time.
- 2:54She got her period back and then we stopped working together.
- 2:56It was a really hard one for me to say goodbye to because I
- 2:59adore her. She listens to this podcast.
- 3:01She doesn't have social media. Like that's how we kind of stay
- 3:03connected. But every now and then she'll
- 3:05like e-mail me with life updates.
- 3:07And she sent me like 1 of the sweetest emails.
- 3:09And she kind of like shared a big like life event that's
- 3:13happening for her right now. And I just want to tell her that
- 3:15I'm really proud of her and I'm really excited for her in this
- 3:18like next chapter. I know she's gonna hear this so
- 3:20she knows who she is. And I'm super proud of you.
- 3:22Aren't you doing so good? I'm so lucky.
- 3:24We work with the best people, the best people.
- 3:26I know I feel like it was like really hard for me to kind of
- 3:29come up with a low because like I feel just so lucky with
- 3:32everything that's happening. Like especially at RBSN with our
- 3:34clients. And I know it gets like
- 3:36challenging for our clients. Like sometimes, like we always
- 3:38joke like something's in retrograde because everybody
- 3:41seems to be having like body image issues or like is super
- 3:44close to their period and I don't know it yet.
- 3:46And then there's like that one week of the month where like
- 3:48everybody gets their period and it's just like a freaking party
- 3:50over here. Yes, exactly.
- 3:52It's like hard for sure, there are challenges, but the winds,
- 3:55the winds are bigger. Yeah, it is.
- 3:57What's your low this week? OK, this is such a funny story.
- 4:01I've like waiting to share this one.
- 4:03So this actually happened a little while ago, but it just
- 4:05makes the most sense for me to share it today.
- 4:07It was in Target and I was walking down like the deodorant
- 4:10aisle and I was like, something down this aisle smells
- 4:13unbelievable. Like it smelled so good.
- 4:15And I was like, whatever that deodorant is, I am purchasing
- 4:18that because it smells so clean, so fresh.
- 4:20Like not like flowery. I'm not like a flowery smelly
- 4:23type of person. Like I like a spa smell or like,
- 4:26you know, like maybe cedar wood. Maybe that's the smell I'm
- 4:28trying to describe, but like, I'm not a flowery smell.
- 4:30I'm like more of like a fancy I mosquito 1, you know, like,
- 4:33anyway, so anyway, I was like, what is the smell?
- 4:35And this this girl, she's like opening all these deodorants and
- 4:37I was like, Oh my gosh, that smells so good.
- 4:39And she's like, yeah, I just like opened this one.
- 4:40I was like, doesn't matter. I'm buying this.
- 4:42Like this is my new deodorant smell.
- 4:43No problem, buy it. I come home.
- 4:45I'm like, I'm so excited to wear my deodorant.
- 4:47And then I look at it a little bit more closely and it's a
- 4:49natural deodorant. I have no problem with anyone
- 4:52who wants to wear a natural deodorant.
- 4:53I have tried myself in the past to wear a natural deodorant but
- 4:57I am heavily allergic to something that they use in most
- 5:00natural deodorants. I have like very sensitive skin.
- 5:02This is like fun fact about me. No one really cares.
- 5:04But like if I use a natural deodorant, if I use like a any
- 5:08type of like self tanning body lotion, like does not react
- 5:11well. We're not in a good place.
- 5:13I have hives. I don't know what possesses me
- 5:15sometimes where I'm like maybe it's not a problem anymore.
- 5:18And I was so excited and this one smelled so good that I was
- 5:22like maybe it's not a problem anymore.
- 5:23So I used it and I had the itchiest armpits known to man.
- 5:29So I won't come comfortable like sitting there in sessions with
- 5:31clients, like trying to like move and like readjust without
- 5:34like literally scratching in my armpits.
- 5:36And then the worst part about it is my husband comes home from
- 5:39work that day and he's like, I love you but you stink.
- 5:43So I bought a $10 deodorant. I completely wasted money on it.
- 5:46I. Struggle so hard with deodorant.
- 5:50I remember when I was pregnant and for some freaking reason I
- 5:54was like having all these like reactions to them.
- 5:57I don't know if I Remember Me telling you this, but like.
- 5:59I think it was offline, though. I don't know.
- 6:00We share it on the podcast, but I remember, yeah, like
- 6:03something's happening. And it's like my body chemistry
- 6:05is different. Yeah, I don't know what the
- 6:07hormones are crazy obviously like when you're pregnant are
- 6:09crazy. I remember I was like having
- 6:11sweating and so I was like trying all these different types
- 6:13of deodorant. But then like I was so sick,
- 6:16especially my first trimester, I couldn't even stand like certain
- 6:19smells. I couldn't stand the smell
- 6:20myself. And they were like mixing with
- 6:22deodorant And it would be this like flowery like Bo.
- 6:25And then I would try to do a natural 1 and I would just.
- 6:28Did you ever have a bad reaction to the natural one other than
- 6:30like maybe smell or just like? No it was just like I literally
- 6:33would smell myself and throat like throw up like because like
- 6:37I would get like a whiff of it. I was gonna say at least you
- 6:39smelt nice though but no one called you out.
- 6:42He did. He was like, yeah, doesn't you
- 6:45can't do that. That's should be illegal.
- 6:47Someone needs to give us deodorant.
- 6:48Rex, please help us out. I don't need a flowery one, I
- 6:52need one that smells good and I also need one that doesn't break
- 6:54my armpits out and complete hives.
- 6:56So if you have that. Let me know.
- 6:57It is also not toxic and is not bad for us.
- 7:00Yeah, yeah, if you could find everything.
- 7:01We'll help you with fueling. You can help us with our
- 7:04deodorant selection. Exactly.
- 7:05Yeah. So anyway, natural deodorant
- 7:07drive me bananas and that's perfect because today we are
- 7:09talking about things that we saw online or things that we saw out
- 7:12in in a while that throw us bananas.
- 7:14Freaking do it. Is that?
- 7:16Passion fruit and tangerine. Oh, I thought the bottle looks
- 7:19really pretty and I was like, I don't know that I've had that
- 7:21one. Is it good?
- 7:22It's like Costco. Oh Dang OK interestingly enough
- 7:25we were. I was talking to a client about
- 7:27Costco yesterday and her Costco doesn't have fruit riot and she
- 7:29and her mom are so upset because we talk about it all the time.
- 7:32Well mine stopped. I'm upset.
- 7:34It must be a seasonal thing. I haven't seen it in like 2
- 7:36months. We're out.
- 7:37Every time I go I like look at the same spot.
- 7:40Yeah, come back. Ridiculous.
- 7:41OK, well, on that bright note on the kombucha and frozen grapes
- 7:46that we do or do not have at our Costco, this is a What Drives Us
- 7:48Bananas episode of the Eat More Carbs podcast.
- 7:50Welcome back. We're so excited to have you
- 7:52here. We have Riley, Lily and myself
- 7:54today on this episode talking about the nutrition
- 7:57misinformation or crazy things that we saw online this week
- 8:00that drove us absolutely bananas.
- 8:02I have to go first today, you guys, because I literally just
- 8:05have been thinking about this since I saw it and I need to get
- 8:07it like off my chest. Is that OK?
- 8:10Yeah, OK. Someone needs to Get Me Out of
- 8:12the Facebook running groups. That is where all of my bananas
- 8:15come from. Like so many issues that stem
- 8:18from that that I just need to, I need to do myself a favor.
- 8:20But then I'd be losing out on a ton of content is what I'm
- 8:22telling myself. So my, what drives me bananas is
- 8:25that there was an individual who posted in that that was bragging
- 8:28about running 18 miles on less than like 60 grams of
- 8:31carbohydrate that was not consumed anything beforehand.
- 8:35It was just during. I have so many issues with
- 8:39people that have like turned fueling into a bragging game of
- 8:42like how how little we can do and how efficient we can survive
- 8:46off of so little. And I think about that and I
- 8:49like we've talked about so many times, Riley, about this, you
- 8:52know, offline or online during this podcast is Can you imagine
- 8:55that person's potential if they actually fueled?
- 8:58I don't understand why it's a flex to like not fuel.
- 9:02Like why is it like wow I can be amazing at my sport on minimal
- 9:07energy consumption why is that a good thing?
- 9:10Like why are we bragging about that?
- 9:12Everybody of course has different needs and different
- 9:14amounts that they can tolerate of carbohydrate, but that
- 9:17doesn't mean that you want to try and get to the lowest amount
- 9:20possible that you can survive off of to accomplish your
- 9:24athletic feet. Like we should want to find what
- 9:27we can tolerate almost the most of in order to do that.
- 9:31Like Riley, we talked just the other day about how you had an
- 9:33818 mile trail race and because you fueled so efficiently, your
- 9:37recovery was incredible. I can't imagine what this
- 9:40person's 18 miles were that they barely had any fuel and then try
- 9:43to recover afterwards. Like there are so many things
- 9:46that I'm like, oof. I think it's so interesting that
- 9:50as athletes, we are always trying to like pressure our
- 9:53potential when it comes to sport, right?
- 9:54So like if somebody gives us, you know, a workout and if a run
- 9:58or maybe it's a lift, right, and you have to do 8 to 12 reps of
- 10:01something, oftentimes athletes are pushing and trying to get to
- 10:04that 12th Rep. But when we see a range for
- 10:06nutrition, we're trying to go as close as possible to that lowest
- 10:10number or even lower than that. I think it's just so interesting
- 10:14how the mind works and how our society works, where we're
- 10:17trying to push the potential in everything, but not with our
- 10:19fueling and our intake. I think it totally goes back to
- 10:23people see growth as doing things that are hard, and
- 10:26sometimes they want to make it even harder on themselves by
- 10:30purposely fasting. They think it's a flex because
- 10:32they did it with no fuel. But realistically, nutrition is
- 10:36a tool that is used to make you better.
- 10:39It's not something that you should take away to make things.
- 10:41Harder. Oh yeah, absolutely.
- 10:44Riley, you definitely hit a big thing there, especially when
- 10:46we're thinking about like our athletes in the period recovery
- 10:48program. A lot of times we'll set goals
- 10:50that are like we're aiming for two to three servings of fat in
- 10:52this meal and then they almost always come back with like 2,
- 10:56like they're picking the smallest amount possible.
- 10:58And yes, of course, sometimes that's because we are making
- 11:01small sustainable changes that feel comfortable.
- 11:03But it's almost always we're shooting for that low range.
- 11:06And then on the opposite side of things, when it is something
- 11:08that is sport related, we're shooting for that high range,
- 11:11like when it is 8:00 to 12:00 reps or when it is 8 to 12
- 11:14miles, you know, we're like always like, oh, can I push it a
- 11:16little bit more? We're not using that same lens
- 11:19to like view our fueling, which is really interesting.
- 11:22Drives me freaking bananas. I had a client say to me the
- 11:26other day that the population that is so afraid of eating more
- 11:30carbohydrates is always the population that needs it the
- 11:33most. And I think that really rings
- 11:35true. And I was like, yes, 100%.
- 11:37And she was like, I know that's me.
- 11:38I know that 100% is me. And I was like kind of fits the
- 11:42same group as like all of these running channels are the ones
- 11:44that are so afraid to eat carbohydrates.
- 11:46So they're looking for, you know, like we've talked about on
- 11:48these bananas episodes, like the carnivore diet or the lion diet
- 11:52or whatever it is that's popular right now.
- 11:53We're not using any fuel when you're running and saying that
- 11:56you fuel felt fantastic because your stomach didn't have any
- 11:58issues. And it's all of those people are
- 12:00the ones that would probably benefit the most.
- 12:02I also think too often times we always associate negative
- 12:07outcomes with nutrition, but when there's a positive outcome,
- 12:10we don't often associate that with nutrition.
- 12:13For example, I was having a conversation with one of our
- 12:16period recovery athletes. She was talking about how on
- 12:20Monday morning she had a lot more energy after a 2 day rest
- 12:24period and a two day. Kind of like I would say
- 12:27positive energy balance because a lot of the time as an athlete
- 12:29you're not in a positive energy balance every single day.
- 12:32She didn't associate her feeling better to like the extra rest
- 12:36and the extra fueling. She just said, oh, I had a
- 12:38really good day. But oftentimes she'll say, oh, I
- 12:41felt bloated and that's why I didn't perform well.
- 12:43Or I ate a carbohydrate and I didn't perform well, or I ate
- 12:46this and I didn't perform well. But we never think about the
- 12:48positive side of fueling our body properly.
- 12:51Or we just, I guess, missed that association oftentimes.
- 12:53Oh. That is such a good point.
- 12:55I saw somebody who's a content creator online was talking about
- 12:59how the way that they felt on their long runs was so heavily
- 13:03impacted by what they did fuel with the day before.
- 13:06And I was like, I wish so many more people would talk about
- 13:08that because it does impact how you feel and how you feel does
- 13:12impact that. More often than not, we're quick
- 13:14to blame any type of issue on fuelling, but we're also quick
- 13:17to ignore any type of success of fuelling, if that makes sense.
- 13:21Well, anyway, I need to stay out of the running groups.
- 13:23I think that's the conclusion of all of this.
- 13:25Lily, what did you see this week that drove you bananas?
- 13:28OK so just like Jenna's running groups on Facebook, I am the
- 13:32TikTok Gurley of RBSN. I am a doom scroller every day.
- 13:37It's it's bad, but I am currently planning a wedding
- 13:40right now. And so I am on wedding TikTok
- 13:44and the newest addition to those things has been how to glow up
- 13:48before you get married. And I saw a TikTok yesterday.
- 13:51I actually saw two but the first one had A at the beginning.
- 13:54She owes this is a food and diet trigger warning.
- 13:58And I was like, Oh no. And so of course I kept watching
- 14:01and this is when she told everyone to go on not a juice
- 14:04cleanse because juice cleanses are all sugar and you should
- 14:07never do that. But it's broth cleanse for five
- 14:11days prior to your wedding so you are not bloated.
- 14:14And I don't even know what to say.
- 14:16Yes. So that's what my Tik Tok's been
- 14:18and it's been driving me bananas.
- 14:20Thank you. For being our TikTok
- 14:21correspondent and taking one for the team.
- 14:23Question. How many likes and comments did
- 14:25this video have? Because I don't even want to
- 14:28know. I'm asking but I don't even want
- 14:29to know it was. Insane like I think it was over
- 14:32100,000 likes on it and so many comments.
- 14:36I of course, ran into the comments right when I saw it and
- 14:39the top comment was like, Oh my gosh, can I get a link to the
- 14:43And I was like, no, stop, what are we doing?
- 14:46The other one I saw, just to add fuel to the fire was a girl with
- 14:51a box of cookies and she was spraying it with Lysol because
- 14:55she said that the food noise was too much and she's five days
- 14:59away from her wedding, that she needs to make sure she doesn't
- 15:03eat them. It's really rough on the tech.
- 15:04Talk right now, guys. Man, I thought that the Facebook
- 15:07groups were bad by spraying down food with Lysol.
- 15:10Oh my. Word, that one.
- 15:13I set the phone down and went on a walk after that one.
- 15:16It's just so sad. Like it's so sad that this is
- 15:19like a very, like joyous occasion that people are
- 15:22planning and they spent months planning and you know, all their
- 15:24family will be there, all their friends will be there.
- 15:26It's such a reason to celebrate. And then people feel like they
- 15:29have to spray their food with Lysol so they don't eat it.
- 15:31Also, what you eat three days before your wedding isn't going
- 15:33to affect what you look like. Exactly.
- 15:35I think it just kind of goes back, though, to this idea that
- 15:38like, there's a fast result for like, nutritional changes,
- 15:41right? Like, oh, you know, just go on
- 15:42this broth cleanse 5 days before your wedding and you're gonna
- 15:45look amazing. Go and Ozempic for two months
- 15:47and you'll lose 20 lbs. Like there's all these quick,
- 15:50fast result promising items out there now and that's can make it
- 15:54just really challenging, I think for people who are on maybe a
- 15:58little bit of a nutritional journey.
- 15:59I mean, we see this all the time with period.
- 16:00Recovery but like. The fact that, like you haven't
- 16:02had your period for 10 years and you can get it back within two
- 16:05to three months, like, yeah, that's two to three months.
- 16:07And that sounds like a long period of time, but it's
- 16:09actually a pretty short amount of time in the grand scheme of
- 16:12things, yeah. For sure.
- 16:13And I think it's also what's can be super click baby and what
- 16:18people can get an affiliate link to that they can promote for
- 16:22people to do and promise results.
- 16:24When people are relying on these results, it's really just not a
- 16:29great way to be marketing things like that, especially when you
- 16:33have people who are relying on these results because you're
- 16:36promising them. Don't get me wrong, I understand
- 16:39that like a wedding is such an important milestone and
- 16:42everybody wants to to feel good that day and wants to look their
- 16:45best. Like I get that.
- 16:47Like it always makes sense to me why these things like are so
- 16:49popular online because that is such an important time.
- 16:53But it's also like Riley said, it's so sad that we've reached a
- 16:56point that like we want to alter what we look like for this one
- 16:59special day in reality, Like, what are you going to look back
- 17:02and remember, are you going to look back and be like, oh, so
- 17:05glad I did that bone broth cleanse right before I got
- 17:06married? Are you going to look back and
- 17:07be like, I had so much fun with my significant other, my partner
- 17:11for life that day and like we have so many wonderful memories
- 17:13with friends and family? What are we doing?
- 17:15Have we lost the plot? And I bet if people had eaten
- 17:19properly the couple days before they would enjoy the day so much
- 17:22more and not be hangry and exhausted and just all riled up
- 17:26because only drank bra for a couple days before.
- 17:29Weddings are stressful. We don't need to add stress to
- 17:32that because we aren't fueled. What a really.
- 17:34Well, big shout out to you for being the TikTok correspondent
- 17:37because I don't know that I could handle some of that
- 17:39shenannery. That's wild.
- 17:41All right, Riley, what have you got?
- 17:42Which drive giving you bananas? OK.
- 17:44I stumbled upon this thing last night and I wasn't even doing
- 17:47nutrition research. I wasn't even trying to do
- 17:50anything related to work. Have you heard of Ozempic Bulba?
- 17:54I'm sorry, what? How did this pop?
- 17:56Up. OK.
- 17:58OK so I follow like e-news on my private stuff.
- 18:03Do not. Sorry.
- 18:06I have to see what the girlies are saying.
- 18:08Yeah. Anyways, everyone is judging me
- 18:10so hard right now. Like 20 people just turn off the
- 18:12podcast. There's a doctor in Orange
- 18:14County that is very popular. He does like plastic surgery.
- 18:17He's like his wife is like Real Housewives of OC.
- 18:20You've probably see them. He does like Botched I think.
- 18:23Yep, I know exactly who you're talking about.
- 18:24They recently came out on their podcast talking about Ozempic
- 18:27vulva. Basically, they've seen this
- 18:30phenomenon where women who have gone on Ozempic are having
- 18:35chronic dryness because their estrogen is dropping so low from
- 18:42malnutrition. Well, wouldn't you know?
- 18:44Yeah, who would have thought? Riley, can you take a moment and
- 18:47explain why that happens? Well, everybody, when you're not
- 18:50fueling your body crap properly and you don't have enough energy
- 18:54and you are basically starving your body, your hormones are
- 18:57going to drop, right? We have three kind of sex
- 19:00hormones. We have testosterone,
- 19:01progesterone and estrogen. When we see a drop in all three
- 19:05of these specific, specifically estrogen, we're going to see a
- 19:08down regulation of our reproductive system.
- 19:11Therefore, we're going to see a loss of a period.
- 19:14Basically every single thing that we talk about on this
- 19:16podcast. And one of those things is going
- 19:18to be like a decrease in cervical mucus, and that's what
- 19:21they're calling Ozempic vulva. Wow.
- 19:24But it's like a thing. It's like a phenomenon.
- 19:26Why are we not? Doesn't even seem like a
- 19:28phenomenon. It seems like common sense would
- 19:30tell you that drastic weight loss of that measure would
- 19:33definitely shut down the reproductive system because of
- 19:36all the things that we talked about on this podcast, like
- 19:38that's exactly what's happening. We can have body comp changes in
- 19:42a Safeway that don't cause loss of a period, but it's usually
- 19:46something that takes place over a long period of time.
- 19:49Like those changes do not happen overnight.
- 19:51And when we do see drastic weight loss changes, those are
- 19:54the people who are applying to the program to help get their
- 19:56period back because they've completely changed or reduced
- 19:59their fueling to the point that their body cannot keep up with
- 20:01the demands of everyday life, the demands of training and the
- 20:04demands of the bodies. Quote, UN quote.
- 20:06Non essential functions like reproduction, yes.
- 20:08Wow, instead of addressing nutritional challenge and stuff,
- 20:11they're like, well, we should like provide exogenous estrogen.
- 20:14Like that's not the issue here, right?
- 20:15Like this is a feeling we have to get to the root of the
- 20:18problem. I think it just shows too, how
- 20:20little education is given prior to people starting because the
- 20:24fact that this is a phenomenon which to us, when we talk about
- 20:28period recovery every day, we're like, well, duh, that's gonna
- 20:30happen. You're cutting down your body
- 20:33and starving it in a sense that of course you're going to have a
- 20:37decrease in these hormones. I think there's so many things
- 20:40with these weight loss medications that people just
- 20:43don't know and are chasing the result like we talked about, and
- 20:48that's all they're focused. On I'm not saying anything
- 20:50against like the GOP's right, like I do think that they're
- 20:53appropriate for certain individuals and a lot of people
- 20:56have seen great health benefits from those.
- 20:59It's just it's not a one-size-fits-all.
- 21:01There's a lot of improper education and ways that people
- 21:05are going about this. Again, like you have to think
- 21:07about the why behind a lot of the actions that you're doing.
- 21:10It's even with like a medication like this.
- 21:12The why? Behind it is so important.
- 21:14We've talked about that so many times, but I think especially in
- 21:17this case, it's really interesting to kind of think
- 21:20about the why behind it, see the result, but then also see the
- 21:23side effects that maybe we didn't even anticipate.
- 21:26And I think, Lily, that goes back to exactly what you said
- 21:28with there's not a lot of education around like what are
- 21:31the side effects beyond just the ones that we think of as like
- 21:33the favorable quote UN quote outcome?
- 21:36Yeah. And I mean, I think about it
- 21:37too, and I'm sure you guys both do as well.
- 21:40We're like, I'm thinking like, OK, if estrogen's dropping, that
- 21:42means we're losing muscle mass. Like that means that we're
- 21:45losing bone density that shows up on the scale as a positive
- 21:49thing with Air Croats, right, Because of the scale is going
- 21:51down. But this is metabolic and very,
- 21:54very important tissue that you're losing.
- 21:56Especially as females, like we want to keep our bone health,
- 21:59like bone health is so important as we age.
- 22:02It's like, I don't know about you guys, but like, I want to
- 22:04continue to stay active years into my adult and later adult
- 22:08life. And a lot of that has to do
- 22:10with, like, our ability to protect and maintain our bone
- 22:12health. Yeah.
- 22:13So that's what was driving me bananas.
- 22:15Sorry, neither of you were expecting that one, but I just
- 22:18had to share because I actually did see it last night and I was
- 22:21like freaking driving me bananas.
- 22:23Well, that's a. Fun episode.
- 22:27I feel like we were so upset today.
- 22:28We were like, usually we're like angry and like.
- 22:31Excited and we were just. We're a little depressed over
- 22:33here today. The world's a hard place right
- 22:36now. It is well, we want to know from
- 22:38you. What did you hear from this week
- 22:40that drove you absolutely bananas?
