- 0:00Speaker 1: This is Kiss Breakfast.
- 0:02Speaker 2: And here's Amy with a hit of celeb news.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Yeah, so Hollywood actress Ruby Rose.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Aussie girl.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Aussie girl, yep.
- 0:09Speaker 3: She's opened up about a horrific injury that she suffered
- 0:12Speaker 3: on the set of the TV series Batwoman.
- 0:16Speaker 4: And this.
- 0:17Speaker 3: Same injury cost her four years of her life. Now,
- 0:21Speaker 3: I actually have never heard of the show Batwoman.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Neither have I.
- 0:26Speaker 1: She starred as Batwoman in the series from 2019 to 2020.
- 0:29Speaker 1: So it lasted one season. Yeah, over in America as well.
- 0:34Speaker 3: And she's now starring on the American reality TV series.
- 0:38Speaker 3: Military training series called Special Forces, which we've had here.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Where they go and do like proper.
- 0:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Well, it looks quite intense.
- 0:46Speaker 3: They get basically put through brutal military style testing, similar
- 0:50Speaker 3: to real Special Forces training.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:53Speaker 3: But in the latest episode, Ruby was chatting to camera
- 0:57Speaker 3: and admitted to her co-stars.
- 0:58Speaker 1: That she broke her neck not once, but twice. while
- 1:02Speaker 1: filming Batwoman.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Twice.
- 1:04Speaker 1: And she still suffers from it. So have a listen.
- 1:07Speaker 4: I've always done all of my own stunts, but I
- 1:09Speaker 4: had an accident in 2019 on set of Batwoman and
- 1:14Speaker 4: everything just sort of got bad from there.
- 1:16Speaker 1: What happened?
- 1:18Speaker 4: I broke my neck. I've got twice already, so I've
- 1:20Speaker 4: got two replacement discs. There was no bouncing back. There
- 1:25Speaker 4: was no part of me left. It was just the shell. Yeah,
- 1:31Speaker 4: four years of my life gone.
- 1:33Speaker 2: I thought you broke your neck if you... Sorry, died
- 1:36Speaker 2: if you broke your neck.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Yeah, I thought that too. And also twice. How twice?
- 1:40Speaker 3: Like as in she broke it and maybe didn't know
- 1:43Speaker 3: that it was broken and then.
- 1:44Speaker 2: And then broke it again? I don't know. But I'm
- 1:45Speaker 2: glad she's okay because I thought breaking your neck was
- 1:48Speaker 2: the worst thing ever. What about in the NRL, Nathan Cleary?
- 1:51Speaker 1: Yep.
- 1:52Speaker 2: He broke his ankle and then broke his other ankle.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Is that what's happened with him?
- 1:55Speaker 5: Yeah, a bit of a fracture, I think, in his right,
- 1:58Speaker 5: and then he's completely, like, basically snapped his left ankle.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Apparently it was a compound fracture, right?
- 2:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:03Speaker 2: What's that?
- 2:04Speaker 1: It's when the bone comes out.
- 2:06Speaker 4: Oh!
- 2:06Speaker 5: The bone was in his sock, basically.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Oh, actually, my mates were sharing around images on WhatsApp
- 2:11Speaker 2: last night. I thought it might be AI. Should we
- 2:13Speaker 2: have a look?
- 2:13Speaker 1: No, I don't want to see it. I saw it live. Oh, yuck.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Weren't they... Is that right? Is that real? Or am
- 2:20Speaker 2: I made some morons?
- 2:21Speaker 4: Let me have a look.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 2:25Speaker 2: You reckon that's really his, though?
- 2:26Speaker 1: Yeah, probably.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Can you see that, Sean? I can walk up.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Oh, come up to you.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I haven't got my glasses on.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Hang on, here we go.
- 2:33Speaker 3: And Sean's wife is a nurse and she was basically
- 2:35Speaker 3: saying that because he had a fracture in the other ankle,
- 2:39Speaker 3: they put a whole heap of pressure on.
- 2:41Speaker 5: They put more weight on the other ankle and then
- 2:42Speaker 5: just so happened to be that that was the one
- 2:44Speaker 5: that gets twisted and then it snaps. But he's had
- 2:47Speaker 5: surgery and he's all right.
- 2:48Speaker 3: Wait, I want to know, is that like something that
- 2:50Speaker 3: would end his career or he can come back?
- 2:52Speaker 2: You know.
- 2:53Speaker 5: With rugby league players, if they do arm, shoulders, all
- 2:56Speaker 5: that sort of thing, they're usually okay. When it comes
- 2:59Speaker 5: to ankles and legs, you do lose a bit of,
- 3:03Speaker 5: you know, your skills and whatnot.
- 3:05Speaker 2: And he's well known for kicking.
- 3:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Well, he's a good kicker.
- 3:09Speaker 5: He's a fast player. So all of that, you know,
- 3:11Speaker 5: plays in.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Would that be career over for him?
- 3:13Speaker 5: No, I don't think so. I think he'll come back.
- 3:15Speaker 5: It'll take a long time, though. I think he'll miss
- 3:18Speaker 5: the majority of next season.
- 3:19Speaker 4: Yeah. Wow.
- 3:21Speaker 6: And then.
- 3:21Speaker 5: Whether he can build that.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Strength and muscle around it, right?
- 3:26Speaker 3: I think at the end of the day, he's such
- 3:27Speaker 3: a fantastic player and he's so well-liked and loved.
- 3:30Speaker 1: He'll have a job in the industry.
- 3:32Speaker 2: If he decides not to. Oh, yeah, but he wants
- 3:34Speaker 2: to play.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Yeah, he probably does, yeah.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Poor dude. Anyway, let's hope him and Ruby Rose are okay.
- 3:40Speaker 3: Yeah, and at 81 years old, good old Sir Rod
- 3:44Speaker 3: Stewart has announced that he will be retiring from the
- 3:47Speaker 3: stage after... 60 years of performing.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Oh, good on him.
- 3:52Speaker 3: Fans have obviously been concerned for his health over the
- 3:55Speaker 3: past few months. He had heart surgery last month and
- 3:58Speaker 3: he was forced to cut short his one last time
- 4:01Speaker 3: farewell tour across.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Australia earlier this year because of the operation.
- 4:05Speaker 3: So he made the announcement in a video, posted on
- 4:07Speaker 3: his social media accounts overnight.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Have a listen to what he said.
- 4:10Speaker 6: Ladies and gentlemen, after much deliberation and sadness, I have
- 4:14Speaker 6: to announce this year, next year will be my last
- 4:18Speaker 6: tour ever.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Ever, ever.
- 4:20Speaker 6: I'm not retiring, but this will be the last rock
- 4:23Speaker 6: and roll tour. So I want to thank you for
- 4:26Speaker 6: everything you've given me and hopefully I've given you something
- 4:30Speaker 6: in return.
- 4:30Speaker 2: So please come out and see me.
- 4:33Speaker 4: On the tour.
- 4:34Speaker 2: It's going to be great.
- 4:36Speaker 3: Wow.
- 4:38Speaker 2: I mean, he's done all right.
- 4:39Speaker 3: You know, he has sold more than 120 million records worldwide,
- 4:44Speaker 3: which has made him one of the best-selling musical artists
- 4:47Speaker 3: of all time.
