- 2:40Speaker 3: Hello and welcome to Fandemonium.
- 2:42Speaker 2: The pop culture game show that shines a spotlights onto
- 2:45Speaker 2: everyone's favorite fandoms. I'm your games master and Sega Saturn
- 2:49Speaker 2: purist Matt Watson.
- 2:50Speaker 3: How the game is.
- 2:54Speaker 2: But a games master needs games, and games need players,
- 2:57Speaker 2: so please welcome first. He is a fellow games Master, podcaster,
- 3:00Speaker 2: and author who has written a novel called Fane, which
- 3:04Speaker 2: sounds like a great PS one game you would rent
- 3:06Speaker 2: from Blockbuster on a whim.
- 3:07Speaker 3: It's Aaron Randolph. Yeah you know what. I see it
- 3:12Speaker 3: and I want it now. Damnite? Why'd you put that
- 3:15Speaker 3: in my head?
- 3:18Speaker 2: And he is a writer and podcaster who co created
- 3:21Speaker 2: the comic book series Space Oddities, which sounds like a
- 3:24Speaker 2: shit PS one game you would rent from Blockbuster on
- 3:26Speaker 2: a whim.
- 3:27Speaker 3: It's Ben Robinson.
- 3:29Speaker 4: Hey also want that?
- 3:31Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 3:33Speaker 2: Yes, Space Space Udity is the comic amazing Space Audity's.
- 3:38Speaker 2: The game sounds like it would maybe have like a
- 3:40Speaker 2: fifty six score on Metacritic.
- 3:43Speaker 4: I've been working on game development and if I ever
- 3:45Speaker 4: get one out. That's probably exactly what it would get
- 3:47Speaker 4: if it even got a Metacritic score.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Oh hell yes, uh Ben, Aaron, how are you both doing?
- 3:54Speaker 5: I'm doing great well the stressed but I'm doing okay.
- 3:59Speaker 5: You had a real rough time getting into this record,
- 4:02Speaker 5: that's for sure.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Some tech problems on an already time crunched day. So
- 4:06Speaker 2: if you hear the phrase we simply don't have time
- 4:09Speaker 2: a lot on this episode, be prepared my fault. No,
- 4:15Speaker 2: it's it's let's blame the technology. It's it's the era
- 4:17Speaker 2: of blaming tech.
- 4:19Speaker 1: I don't have time for self flagellation. We don't have
- 4:21Speaker 1: time for it.
- 4:23Speaker 3: Just thrilled.
- 4:23Speaker 5: I figured it out and got into it within twenty
- 4:26Speaker 5: minutes time, because dear.
- 4:27Speaker 2: God, absolutely and to get straight into it. Aaron, are
- 4:30Speaker 2: you a fan of the PS one, the Sunny PlayStation?
- 4:34Speaker 3: Holy crap?
- 4:36Speaker 5: At one point my PS one collection was eclipsed two
- 4:40Speaker 5: hundred titles.
- 4:41Speaker 3: Damn yeah.
- 4:43Speaker 5: I had big, like CD albums full of games, and
- 4:48Speaker 5: then I decided to self publish my books and that
- 4:51Speaker 5: was expensive and I sold my collection. Ah, so this
- 4:57Speaker 5: is gonna be a bittersweet episode for me, but it
- 5:00Speaker 5: enabled me to move on to two more interesting things.
- 5:03Speaker 5: But I will never forget the joy the PlayStation gave me,
- 5:06Speaker 5: as I'll explain later.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Okay, okay, I love that.
- 5:10Speaker 2: If we have done Yeah and on that Ben fan
- 5:14Speaker 2: of PlayStation.
- 5:16Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah, I'll be the The PS one was
- 5:20Speaker 4: the high school console for me, like that was the
- 5:23Speaker 4: top of the line technology at the time.
- 5:25Speaker 3: Uh and I was.
- 5:27Speaker 4: I continued into PS two, being a huge PlayStation nerd
- 5:30Speaker 4: for a while until I finally fell off. But no,
- 5:33Speaker 4: I have full some of my favorite games ever on
- 5:36Speaker 4: this bad boy nice.
- 5:37Speaker 2: And a bunch of them will come up today. If
- 5:40Speaker 2: I have designed these games correctly, fantastic, all right, but
- 5:43Speaker 2: you will need some opponents. Get out the multitap. It's
- 5:46Speaker 2: time for four players.
- 5:48Speaker 1: She is a.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Resident panelist, a podcaster and comedian who works in STEM,
- 5:53Speaker 2: which today stands for Square Triangle X Mercle.
- 5:57Speaker 3: It's Audre Stevenson.
- 6:00Speaker 1: I tried so hard.
- 6:03Speaker 2: And they are an actor theater producer, And if they
- 6:06Speaker 2: did the Crash Bandicoot celebration dance at some point during
- 6:09Speaker 2: this episode, I would be the happiest sibling.
- 6:11Speaker 3: In the world. It's aid.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Hello, it's an earlier recording even for you this time.
- 6:18Speaker 2: So maybe if it was more like a eleven pm midnight,
- 6:21Speaker 2: we get that out of you.
- 6:22Speaker 6: But no pressure, I've got I think I've got enough
- 6:25Speaker 6: sugar in me. I can. I can break it out nice.
- 6:28Speaker 6: That's that's all it took. When I was younger, was
- 6:31Speaker 6: like quite a bit of sugar.
- 6:32Speaker 2: So yeah, fair enough. Welcome Audro, Welcome Aiden. I've got
- 6:38Speaker 2: no time to riff on your sugar comment. My instinct
- 6:40Speaker 2: was firing off in some places that we don't have time.
- 6:44Speaker 1: I'm doing well, I've got my iced coffee and I'm
- 6:48Speaker 1: living the dream. I'm so excited to be playing in
- 6:50Speaker 1: this station.
- 6:54Speaker 6: Can I change teams?
- 6:58Speaker 1: God? I respect it.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Okay, Yeah, let's let's find out the knowledge level on
- 7:02Speaker 2: this side. It's we've got some Mega or G fans
- 7:05Speaker 2: in Aaron and Ben Aidan. What about yourself? PS one fan, big.
- 7:09Speaker 6: PS one fan. I don't think I'm as as well
- 7:12Speaker 6: versed as two hundred games in a collection, but it
- 7:14Speaker 6: was my first games console that I owned, besides a
- 7:18Speaker 6: game Boy Coller. I can't remember which one came first,
- 7:20Speaker 6: but it holds a very very special place in my heart,
- 7:24Speaker 6: and I revisit a lot of the catalog on offer
- 7:28Speaker 6: quite regularly or as often as I can on my
- 7:31Speaker 6: trusty PlayStation two, anything that is still compatible with it.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Oh nice, I didn't realize you had the PS two.
- 7:37Speaker 3: That's great.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Yeah, sorry, just because it was a shared PS two
- 7:40Speaker 2: at one point, right.
- 7:42Speaker 6: Yes, no it is. It is the same family. PS
- 7:44Speaker 6: two excellent. It's getting on in years.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Still probably makes less noise than the PS five, the
- 7:50Speaker 2: PS four, Yeah, probably fantastic. And adra you mentioned playing
- 7:56Speaker 2: in a station. Have you ever played in a station?
- 7:58Speaker 2: You're a fan of the PS one your.
- 8:00Speaker 1: I technically have had pretty limited place video game in
- 8:05Speaker 1: general history. But I technically owned a PS one. Nice,
- 8:12Speaker 1: I did, and so it does actually have some nostalgia,
- 8:17Speaker 1: some history for me of just wow, I actually played this,
- 8:21Speaker 1: and that's a rare, a rare treat when looking back
- 8:25Speaker 1: in my youth video game wise.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll see what comes up during this, see if
- 8:29Speaker 2: it's any of the ones. I assume you only played
- 8:31Speaker 2: Bible basedsta oh.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Boy, they tried, But I feel like the PlayStation had
- 8:38Speaker 1: a more limited number of religious themed games. Yeah, and
- 8:43Speaker 1: maybe that's why it wasn't giving it given as much
- 8:45Speaker 1: prevalence in my household.
- 8:47Speaker 3: Could be.
- 8:48Speaker 6: I really wish we had time, because I really want
- 8:50Speaker 6: to figure out if there was a VeggieTales video game.
- 8:53Speaker 1: One, I wish there was a computer game or two.
- 8:56Speaker 3: I think there was. I think there was.
- 9:00Speaker 5: I seem to recall seeing it in the stores when
- 9:03Speaker 5: I would frequently go there, and I'm like, what is this?
- 9:07Speaker 3: Maybe have no idea?
- 9:09Speaker 4: It didn't make the cut in his two hundred game
- 9:10Speaker 4: list though, yeah.
- 9:12Speaker 5: Maybe, no, No, no, absolutely not. I was like, first
- 9:16Speaker 5: of all, vegetables, look at me?
- 9:18Speaker 7: No, no, come on, but Christian vegetables.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Oh okay, teams. It's Christmas morning, nineteen ninety seven. You
- 9:30Speaker 2: see a games console sized gift under the tree, but
- 9:33Speaker 2: you don't want to get your hopes up, not after
- 9:35Speaker 2: last year's stapler debarcle. What's a seven year old going
- 9:39Speaker 2: to do with a stapler?
- 9:40Speaker 3: Dad?
- 9:41Speaker 2: You peel back the wrapping paper, revealing just a corner
- 9:43Speaker 2: of the orange Sony logo. You weep, But before you
- 9:48Speaker 2: can rip it open and play Spiral the Dragon, your
- 9:50Speaker 2: mum insists that you and your sibling come up with
- 9:52Speaker 2: a PlayStation themed team name. Please let's start with Aaron
- 9:56Speaker 2: and Ben.
- 9:56Speaker 3: What have you got?
- 9:57Speaker 5: That's a weird thing to ask mom. But all right then,
- 10:02Speaker 5: I just have one idea, but I think it's magnificent,
- 10:06Speaker 5: okay with it. I think, based on the PlayStation Ones
- 10:11Speaker 5: advertising slogo, our team name should be we W E
- 10:16Speaker 5: the letter R not and then a red letter E
- 10:22Speaker 5: we are not ready are not ready? Nice?
- 10:26Speaker 3: I like that.
- 10:28Speaker 5: It was you are not ready, but it's funnier if
- 10:30Speaker 5: it's we are not ready. We are probably gonna lose
- 10:34Speaker 5: based on my recent.
- 10:37Speaker 2: And I have to stylize it like that in the
- 10:38Speaker 2: title as well if he can.
- 10:41Speaker 3: He can't just like parentheses read.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Yeah, Benny, you happy with that as a team name?
- 10:49Speaker 4: I'm not opposed to it. I like it. I've got
- 10:51Speaker 4: a couple of suggestions just in case nice, you know,
- 10:54Speaker 4: at least for comedic effect.
- 10:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:57Speaker 4: I had the Miserable Little Pile of Secrets because he
- 11:02Speaker 4: is my favorite game of all time. Absolutely the Black
- 11:05Speaker 4: Bottoms because they uh you know, the yeah, the CDs
- 11:12Speaker 4: that had U Yes.
- 11:14Speaker 5: I frequently did my ass in tar Yeah.
- 11:19Speaker 4: And then because I think we're of about the same
- 11:22Speaker 4: age where we were. Were you in high school when this?
- 11:24Speaker 4: Uh was the console Azure?
- 11:26Speaker 3: Uh? Yeah?
- 11:27Speaker 5: It came out late high school for me. I spent
- 11:31Speaker 5: more time with it in college.
- 11:33Speaker 4: But yeah, yeah, but but so as as pubescent young
- 11:36Speaker 4: men with with the PlayStation controller in hand, I thought
- 11:39Speaker 4: we could also be the pube station one.
- 11:45Speaker 3: I'm gonna mix that one.
- 11:51Speaker 4: But no, I'm fully down for we are not ready.
- 11:53Speaker 5: We are not ready. Yeah, let's go, we are not ready.
- 11:56Speaker 5: Just to see Matt try and put a ready in
- 11:59Speaker 5: the titles somehow.
- 12:00Speaker 4: Right, you can format that.
- 12:04Speaker 6: Just figure out how you can do all kinds of.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Get yeah, a, I'll fix it for us, right, It'll
- 12:12Speaker 2: just we ask it and then it'll do it. That's
- 12:13Speaker 2: how this modern world works.
- 12:15Speaker 1: That's what they want us to think it does.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Just comes back with a recipe for spaghetti that includes grenades. Okay,
- 12:25Speaker 2: we are not ready. Let's find out who they'll be facing,
- 12:27Speaker 2: Aidan Audra.
- 12:30Speaker 6: Audrey. You've always you've always come prepared with like a list,
- 12:33Speaker 6: So let's.
- 12:35Speaker 1: I've got three that technically our team names. You're gonna
- 12:40Speaker 1: be visiting the States this year, don't want to dox you.
- 12:44Speaker 1: At some point in time this year, you will be
- 12:46Speaker 1: visiting a nebulous portion of the.
- 12:48Speaker 6: United undisclosed location, United States.
- 12:52Speaker 1: So I was just thinking, like some like some wordplay
- 12:55Speaker 1: with PS one, So maybe PS guy.
- 13:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I was really trying to keep it to.
- 13:13Speaker 1: So PS gun, you believe that if you need to sensitive,
- 13:21Speaker 1: I don't know what they need. I don't know what
- 13:23Speaker 1: the algorithm's about. Or my second bit of masterful wordplay
- 13:29Speaker 1: both members of the LGBTQ community.
- 13:31Speaker 3: Gay Station Gay Station's good.
- 13:35Speaker 6: The better of the two so far.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Then, when I was googling PS one marketing, I don't
- 13:43Speaker 1: know if this was real marketing, but it hit me
- 13:45Speaker 1: very powerfully, very strong. I just saw a PlayStation marketing
- 13:50Speaker 1: campaign that just had a PlayStation. It just said more
- 13:53Speaker 1: powerful than God. So just a team name more power.
- 14:03Speaker 1: Those are my big three.
- 14:05Speaker 2: That's great, Aiden do you have Do you like any
- 14:08Speaker 2: of those? Do you have any ideas of your own?
- 14:10Speaker 6: I mean, if I was going to choose one of them,
- 14:12Speaker 6: it would it would be gay Station. I feel like
- 14:16Speaker 6: if I if I was going to get smoked for
- 14:19Speaker 6: any reason, it would be to claim that I'm more
- 14:22Speaker 6: powerful than God on a recorded podcast.
- 14:26Speaker 4: You just go with gay Station Gun more powerful than God.
- 14:30Speaker 6: Yeah. I was trying to think of a way to
- 14:33Speaker 6: merge all three Gaynation Gun people seeing that show up,
- 14:38Speaker 6: because like the first thing you see or when the
- 14:41Speaker 6: notification is like, oh new Gatelea for his episode is
- 14:43Speaker 6: the two team names. Yeah, and just seeing like gay
- 14:47Speaker 6: station gun more powerful than God versus and like that
- 14:52Speaker 6: has erased the other team's name. I can't remember what
- 14:55Speaker 6: it was now.
- 14:58Speaker 4: It'll probably not get coded right and be you know
- 15:01Speaker 4: we are not and then like a long string of HTML.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Yeah, especially for a vast Ai to do it.
- 15:08Speaker 6: Mine was like going to be really a lot more niche.
- 15:11Speaker 6: But then I realized that given that me and Matt
- 15:13Speaker 6: had a very the same upbringing, essentially there will probably
- 15:18Speaker 6: be a reference to this specific line reading on in
- 15:22Speaker 6: a video game. But it was Trolley Trolley Troubles was
- 15:25Speaker 6: going to be it. There's a lot, there's a line
- 15:28Speaker 6: delivery inspirro to you that is the most infuriating thing
- 15:30Speaker 6: that I've ever heard more than fifty times in one saying,
- 15:33Speaker 6: which is a pelican that says trouble with the trolley
- 15:36Speaker 6: a whenever you suck up a mini game involving a trolley,
- 15:41Speaker 6: And so Trolley Troubles was going to be my one.
- 15:44Speaker 6: That was a long walk to a bad name.
- 15:47Speaker 3: I love the reference.
- 15:48Speaker 1: I really appreciate No it's explained some things that I've
- 15:51Speaker 1: overheard Matt mumbling. I've angrily heard trouble with the trolley
- 15:58Speaker 1: a this day.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Whenever I've like died multiple times on a video game.
- 16:04Speaker 2: It's the mantra I tell myself of like, no, you
- 16:06Speaker 2: can persevere through this and get that, or not enough
- 16:11Speaker 2: to get me through Eldon Ring, though, I'll say that much.
- 16:14Speaker 2: So what are we thinking?
- 16:15Speaker 3: Team?
- 16:15Speaker 1: I'm thinking for the simplicity probable gay.
- 16:19Speaker 6: Station, I think it's more generally thematic mm hmmm hm.
- 16:26Speaker 1: As much as I love gay Station, gun more powerful
- 16:30Speaker 1: than guy ls.
- 16:36Speaker 6: Late contender, dark Horse contender, jewel Chock, jewel Cock is
- 16:41Speaker 6: that jewel cock like jewel shock, but like a phoenix joke?
- 16:48Speaker 2: Two of us I have already written down gay Station,
- 16:51Speaker 2: and we simply don't have time.
- 16:55Speaker 4: They're not entirely dissimilar.
- 16:57Speaker 3: That's true.
- 16:57Speaker 6: That's true. If we ever do a PS two episode,
- 17:01Speaker 6: we can have jewel Cock.
- 17:03Speaker 2: Already happened, so we have we are not read e
- 17:09Speaker 2: versus gay Station. Those are the teams, all right. And
- 17:12Speaker 2: if you're listening to this and thinking, ah, yes, I
- 17:15Speaker 2: remember the PlayStation with its plumbers and pocket monsters and
- 17:18Speaker 2: donkeys that are actually gorillas. Don't worry his order with
- 17:22Speaker 2: a little segment we like to call passing knowledge.
- 17:25Speaker 1: The PlayStation is a video game console released by Sony
- 17:29Speaker 1: in Japan in nineteen ninety four and the USA in
- 17:32Speaker 1: nineteen ninety five. We may not have been the first
- 17:34Speaker 1: of the party, but we were probably the most annoying.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Sony began developing the PlayStation after a failed attempt to
- 17:42Speaker 1: create a CD ROM peripheral with Nintendo for the snaz
- 17:47Speaker 1: Oh that's a lot of words. I'm not even a
- 17:51Speaker 1: fucking joke. Sonny used the pain of that breakup to
- 17:55Speaker 1: make art and also the PlayStation. The initial PlayStation was
- 18:02Speaker 1: retronymically referred to as the PS one, a fact that
- 18:06Speaker 1: I included so I could use the word retronymically. I
- 18:10Speaker 1: really don't know much about the PS one, so I
- 18:12Speaker 1: gotta get some wins in early, and thank you so
- 18:15Speaker 1: much for being here. The PlayStation primarily competed with the
- 18:19Speaker 1: Nintendo sixty four and the Sega Saturn, although most people
- 18:23Speaker 1: are only going to remember the n sixty four, but
- 18:25Speaker 1: most people ask AI how to wipe their own ass,
- 18:28Speaker 1: So fuck then you go, Sega Saturn, You live your dreams. Oh,
- 18:33Speaker 1: the PS one was super popular for having solid games,
- 18:36Speaker 1: reasonable pricing, and some edgy marketing, which makes sense. Nothing
- 18:40Speaker 1: says edgy like Resident Evil, Silent Hill and crash Band Accoot.
- 18:46Speaker 1: PS one more like PS fun. I repeated that joke,
- 18:49Speaker 1: let's play Pandemonia.
- 18:52Speaker 3: The team name.
- 18:53Speaker 2: One of the team name pitches was a joke you'd
- 18:54Speaker 2: already written for the Passing Knowledge.
- 18:56Speaker 3: Fantastic.
- 18:58Speaker 1: I'm trying to be authentic.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Beautifully authentic. Thank you so much, Audra. Just before we
- 19:03Speaker 2: get to today's games, I've asked each player to bring
- 19:05Speaker 2: in a muse, something that inspires them or something they
- 19:08Speaker 2: love from this particular fandom. The PS one is inspiring
- 19:11Speaker 2: to me because of all the fun things they can
- 19:13Speaker 2: do with those polygons. But let's find out what our
- 19:15Speaker 2: panel thinks. Aaron, We'll start with you. What's inspiring you
- 19:18Speaker 2: from the world of PISS one?
- 19:20Speaker 5: Okay, so I may have sold my collection, but I
- 19:24Speaker 5: do still have this bad bit. Oh my is the
- 19:29Speaker 5: PS one with the official Sony screen attachment which allowed
- 19:33Speaker 5: you to take it anywhere.
- 19:34Speaker 3: And this was my best friend for years. I worked
- 19:39Speaker 3: a night.
- 19:40Speaker 5: Shift job at a hotel where they wouldn't let you
- 19:43Speaker 5: bring in a laptop, at least at first, so I
- 19:47Speaker 5: was like, well, I'm gonna be sitting there all night,
- 19:49Speaker 5: is or anything. They're like, you can bring in a
- 19:50Speaker 5: portable DVD player, and I'm like, okay, let does sneak
- 19:54Speaker 5: this little guy.
- 19:55Speaker 3: It sure looks like a portable DVD player.
- 19:57Speaker 5: Yeah, And the little old lady who was my and
- 20:00Speaker 5: office manager didn't know the difference. And I spent I
- 20:03Speaker 5: think years. I was at that job for five years,
- 20:06Speaker 5: and I think like two of those years, every night
- 20:09Speaker 5: PS one going through my library, I would make trips
- 20:14Speaker 5: out to like GameStop and Babbages to pick up more games,
- 20:16Speaker 5: because at that time the PS two was out, PS
- 20:20Speaker 5: three was on its way. So PS one games are
- 20:23Speaker 5: pretty darn cheap, so that's how I blew up my collection.
- 20:26Speaker 5: I got like most of them for like five or
- 20:28Speaker 5: ten dollars. Nice, and I explored a lot of games
- 20:31Speaker 5: that I probably wouldn't have given a bunch of time
- 20:33Speaker 5: to otherwise. One of my favorite things about the PS
- 20:36Speaker 5: one is like just how experimental and like crazy some
- 20:41Speaker 5: of these games are, like things and ideas.
- 20:44Speaker 3: That they you just wouldn't.
- 20:46Speaker 5: See greenlit by a triple a publisher anymore, like games
- 20:51Speaker 5: like Kudelka, which is which is a survival horror tactical
- 20:58Speaker 5: RPGA with cut scenes played out like an actual stage play.
- 21:07Speaker 5: Like I'm pretty sure they had the actors in mo
- 21:10Speaker 5: cap suits doing the voice lines at the same time, damn.
- 21:15Speaker 5: So the scenes literally are like a static camera and
- 21:18Speaker 5: you see these characters delivering these lines back and forth,
- 21:21Speaker 5: and it feels like you're watching like an actual stage play,
- 21:25Speaker 5: and it's just really really good, and it's really live,
- 21:28Speaker 5: and it's kind of intimate, and it's in the moment,
- 21:30Speaker 5: and the actors are good, like they're doing a really
- 21:33Speaker 5: good job. So that's just one of like so many
- 21:38Speaker 5: experiences I had at least two hundred.
- 21:40Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, so I imagine that if that was playing
- 21:45Speaker 2: when the sweet old lady at the front desk, it
- 21:48Speaker 2: would have been more evidence that you were just watching DVDs. So, yes,
- 21:52Speaker 2: this is like a movie. Oh yeah, absolutely, that's that's awesome.
- 21:56Speaker 2: That's an awesome piece of kit that I didn't know existed. Genuinely,
- 22:00Speaker 2: I didn't know there was a ople version of the
- 22:01Speaker 2: PS one like that, and that is cool and I
- 22:04Speaker 2: wish I had that now. So that's an excellent meus.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Thank you so much, Aaron. But let's find out what
- 22:11Speaker 2: the other half of we are not read e. I
- 22:15Speaker 2: don't know at what point I'll just start saying we
- 22:16Speaker 2: are not ready. What's inspiring you from the world of
- 22:20Speaker 2: the PS one.
- 22:22Speaker 4: Well, so I'm glad I came with the backup because
- 22:24Speaker 4: I do not have your problem, Matt, because my muse
- 22:27Speaker 4: was going to be this portable PS one, But since
- 22:37Speaker 4: Aaron already covered that, I'm gonna I'm just gonna go
- 22:40Speaker 4: with Symphony of the Night. I play it at least
- 22:41Speaker 4: once and every other year. It's my one of my
- 22:43Speaker 4: favorite games of all time. It's cemented the Vanua into
- 22:47Speaker 4: the Metroid Vanua genre because otherwise, I mean, it's essentially
- 22:52Speaker 4: Castlevania but Metroid, so it should just be the Metroid genre.
- 22:56Speaker 4: But I love that game, so it was good enough
- 22:58Speaker 4: to weezele its way into that classification. Uh and uh, yeah,
- 23:03Speaker 4: it's fantastic. I was playing a little PS one last night.
- 23:05Speaker 4: I played some Symphony of the Night again and it
- 23:08Speaker 4: was beautiful. I played some Crash Bandicoot and I don't
- 23:10Speaker 4: know how that was their flagship franchise. It is not good.
- 23:14Speaker 3: Whoa whoah it is it is.
- 23:19Speaker 4: Not it was not impressed, but misspect for Castlevania though. Yeah,
- 23:24Speaker 4: Symphony the night masterpiece of.
- 23:28Speaker 3: Gaming.
- 23:29Speaker 2: So all right, well despite the Crash Bandicoot diss, I
- 23:33Speaker 2: will say that is inspiring and it's amazing that you
- 23:35Speaker 2: also have the portable PS one.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Yeah, you can go wrong and inspiring at the same time.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Then contains multitudes.
- 23:41Speaker 2: But I love that we are probably going to have
- 23:43Speaker 2: the team that were more like like late teens going
- 23:47Speaker 2: into adulthood, and so therefore the get the games like
- 23:49Speaker 2: Castlevania are going to be more the games, and then
- 23:51Speaker 2: the other side where it's more the world of Crash
- 23:54Speaker 2: and Spiral and the games for kids that still hold
- 23:58Speaker 2: up to this day. Damn it.
- 24:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I like Crash.
- 24:04Speaker 2: But let's move on over to gay station and Aidan,
- 24:07Speaker 2: what's inspiring you from the world of the PlayStation.
- 24:10Speaker 6: Well, I have this portable PlayStation one. I really also
- 24:16Speaker 6: wish I had a portable PlayStation one. My muse is
- 24:21Speaker 6: the idea that there were so many games for the
- 24:25Speaker 6: PS one that everyone I know who owned a PlayStation
- 24:29Speaker 6: one has like one game where they are the only
- 24:33Speaker 6: person in their like immediate circle who ever played that.
- 24:37Speaker 6: Like I try and talk to people about forty Winks
- 24:40Speaker 6: for the PlayStation one, no one has a clue what
- 24:43Speaker 6: I'm talking about. I don't think that was like a
- 24:45Speaker 6: mega niche game, but the just the sheer volume of
- 24:50Speaker 6: releases for that console means that, like everyone has one.
- 24:54Speaker 6: That's like, that's your game that you owned, and no
- 24:56Speaker 6: one else you knew own that. And I just love
- 25:00Speaker 6: that there was a time in gaming where that existed.
- 25:03Speaker 2: Yeah, instead of the five games a year for each
- 25:06Speaker 2: console that we get now, it was like hundreds of games.
- 25:09Speaker 4: But yeah, and they weren't a high volume of shit
- 25:13Speaker 4: like back in like the Atari days, Like there there
- 25:15Speaker 4: was a lot of games no one played, but they
- 25:17Speaker 4: were all also trash. Yeah, my station had like a
- 25:21Speaker 4: big library of some damn good games.
- 25:25Speaker 5: Yeah, and if not damn good, at least decent. There
- 25:29Speaker 5: are a few games on the PS one that I
- 25:30Speaker 5: can legitimately call trash.
- 25:32Speaker 4: Oh yeah, there.
- 25:34Speaker 3: And a far lower percentage than most other systems.
- 25:37Speaker 1: I think.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Well, let's test Aiden's muse out. Now, who has heard
- 25:40Speaker 2: of forty Winks? Who has played forty Winks?
- 25:43Speaker 3: I've heard of it, I have not played it.
- 25:45Speaker 4: I mean, I just heard of it.
- 25:48Speaker 1: I've heard of it within the past. Yeah, within the
- 25:50Speaker 1: past ten minutes.
- 25:51Speaker 2: Like Ben forty winks could have been a team then.
- 25:56Speaker 1: It's honestly a good thing. I didn't hear about it before.
- 26:00Speaker 2: That would be our lost Oh yeah, I love the
- 26:04Speaker 2: idea aiden that it was just an era of There
- 26:07Speaker 2: were just so many more games than people will just
- 26:09Speaker 2: be like, yeah, did you play Alfred Chicken?
- 26:11Speaker 8: Like?
- 26:13Speaker 6: Cool? Sorry did I just did? I just just like
- 26:16Speaker 6: it was foraging activation.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Yeah, that's your code phrase to assassment the Prime.
- 26:22Speaker 6: Minister, Alfred Chicken forty winks.
- 26:28Speaker 2: It does need to happen. Someone needs to succeed. Okay, Finally, last,
- 26:34Speaker 2: but not least, Oudra, what's inspiring you from the world
- 26:36Speaker 2: of the PlayStation.
- 26:37Speaker 1: I think a lot of people will have like specific
- 26:41Speaker 1: stories about a time when they like questioned some things
- 26:46Speaker 1: in their youth. For some people, it was For a
- 26:50Speaker 1: lot of people it was the Mummy of Rachel Weiss,
- 26:54Speaker 1: like why am I so interested in Rachel Weiss? For me,
- 26:58Speaker 1: it was the memory card that we got with our
- 27:01Speaker 1: PS one that was just the top half of Lara
- 27:04Speaker 1: Croft and you had to, like in order to put
- 27:12Speaker 1: this memory card in you basically had to grabber by
- 27:16Speaker 1: the ticks.
- 27:19Speaker 7: I got a Google I've never heard Yeah, this is incredible,
- 27:23Speaker 7: but I've never owned it.
- 27:25Speaker 3: Yep.
- 27:26Speaker 1: That was the thing in my youth throw I was like,
- 27:28Speaker 1: why why is this the only memory card in my
- 27:32Speaker 1: life that I.
- 27:32Speaker 4: Will watch all this stuff? They bought you a titty
- 27:38Speaker 4: memory card.
- 27:39Speaker 9: It was it was a gift from or like someone
- 27:45Speaker 9: in our church was getting a PS two and they're like,
- 27:49Speaker 9: I don't know why they didn't just keep it, why
- 27:51Speaker 9: they gave it to us?
- 27:53Speaker 1: But I got this titty memory card and had to
- 27:58Speaker 1: ask some questions myself that I then repressed for many years.
- 28:03Speaker 2: Her face is in so much pain, like her likes
- 28:05Speaker 2: of genuinely turned into a cube of plastics.
- 28:10Speaker 7: One.
- 28:12Speaker 4: I'm looking at images of this thing online right now,
- 28:15Speaker 4: and in multiple images that are very clearly different memory cards.
- 28:20Speaker 4: There is a where mark over the right boob.
- 28:26Speaker 1: I will say it was inconvenient to remove it via
- 28:30Speaker 1: any other method. That was the main leverage shot.
- 28:33Speaker 6: That was like the pinch. The pinch point was like
- 28:36Speaker 6: just square on the front of the bube, so you could.
- 28:39Speaker 1: Grab her by the head and yank, but you're not
- 28:42Speaker 1: going to get the proper leverage. It's innocent, but also
- 28:45Speaker 1: not it's really pervy.
- 28:49Speaker 4: Apparently they also had Duke Nukem and Goldberg.
- 28:56Speaker 1: Also Goldberg by the tits, so that makes it fie.
- 29:01Speaker 2: Oh fantastic, very inspiring stuff. I've got to say that
- 29:04Speaker 2: because that's this format point.
- 29:06Speaker 3: I don't believe that actually is true.
- 29:07Speaker 1: But I'm gonna do it for Laro.
- 29:11Speaker 3: Teams.
- 29:11Speaker 2: I'm feeling so inspired by your muses. Are we ready
- 29:14Speaker 2: for some games?
- 29:15Speaker 3: Yes?
- 29:15Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, teams, Let's into round one. Round one is
- 29:31Speaker 2: our first person shooter game of lists that we call
- 29:34Speaker 2: Scattergun Gorries, which as a title everyone agrees works. In
- 29:40Speaker 2: this game, I will name a PlayStation themed category. One
- 29:44Speaker 2: player will start and name something from that category. They
- 29:47Speaker 2: will then shoot a player on the opposite team by
- 29:50Speaker 2: saying their name, who must then name another correct item
- 29:54Speaker 2: from that category before shooting back at another player on
- 29:57Speaker 2: the opposite team. We continue until one team has both
- 30:01Speaker 2: or one player left standing, with the winning team scoring
- 30:04Speaker 2: either one or two points, depending on if they have
- 30:07Speaker 2: one or two players left standing. And each category also
- 30:11Speaker 2: has a golden answer, and the player will score a
- 30:14Speaker 2: bonus point if they say the golden answer.
- 30:16Speaker 3: Do we all understand this game? Yes?
- 30:19Speaker 1: I do want to say alternate title PS gun.
- 30:25Speaker 3: This episode.
- 30:26Speaker 1: Absolutely, I'll need this gun.
- 30:28Speaker 3: It's called PS gun this time.
- 30:31Speaker 2: And we're going to start with a pretty broad category
- 30:34Speaker 2: and then we're going to get more and more narrow,
- 30:36Speaker 2: with fewer and fewer correct answers as we go. So
- 30:39Speaker 2: we're going to start with the broadest possible category, and
- 30:42Speaker 2: that is horror games released on PS one. There are
- 30:46Speaker 2: almost unlimited answers to this, and I might need to
- 30:50Speaker 2: look some things up, but if you confidently say something
- 30:52Speaker 2: and then shoot someone, I might just believe that it
- 30:55Speaker 2: was a game. And lots of things can be described
- 30:58Speaker 2: as horror as well. We're very much playing improv rules,
- 31:02Speaker 2: so I'm gonna have Aaron start this one. So whenever
- 31:06Speaker 2: you're ready, Aaron names something from this category and then
- 31:09Speaker 2: shoot a member of the opposite team by saying their name.
- 31:12Speaker 5: All right, I'll start with the one I accidentally gave
- 31:14Speaker 5: away Koudelka.
- 31:16Speaker 1: Adra, Silent Hill, Ben.
- 31:23Speaker 4: Silent Hill two, Aiden.
- 31:26Speaker 6: Darn Uh, Resident Evil, Aaron, Resident Evil two.
- 31:36Speaker 1: Resident Evil three. Oh yeah, ben.
- 31:46Speaker 4: Uh, Crash Bandicoot. It's a horrible game.
- 31:50Speaker 3: I'm going to allow it for this first round.
- 31:54Speaker 4: Ah, and then just to mix things up.
- 31:57Speaker 1: Okay, silent Hill three.
- 32:02Speaker 2: Oh, I don't think that's a correct answer. Audre is
- 32:06Speaker 2: out of this pass. It is going to be on
- 32:09Speaker 2: the previous person who said something, which is Ben. So
- 32:13Speaker 2: I go again, Yes, you go again.
- 32:15Speaker 4: Shit, twisted metal, sweet tooth, kind of spooky.
- 32:22Speaker 2: I gave you, I gave you, crash bandicoot. You're out.
- 32:27Speaker 2: It's just Aaron versus Aidan. And I think it was
- 32:32Speaker 2: Aiden nor Aaron. I I'll make it Aiden because I
- 32:35Speaker 2: made it Ben last time.
- 32:35Speaker 3: Aiden, it's your go.
- 32:37Speaker 6: Uh. This is a shot in the dark fatal frame.
- 32:42Speaker 6: Was that on PS one?
- 32:44Speaker 3: Let me look it up.
- 32:45Speaker 1: I know that's a game because I can't remember if.
- 32:48Speaker 6: It was PS two one?
- 32:53Speaker 2: It was PS two. I'm afraid, which means fault. Aaron
- 32:57Speaker 2: is left standing.
- 32:58Speaker 5: I had at least four or five, have more in
- 33:00Speaker 5: the chamber, and I believe.
- 33:03Speaker 3: You Resent Survivor virus it is aware. The European one.
- 33:13Speaker 5: I had more than that, but the gold dust forget that.
- 33:19Speaker 2: Yes, the gold Manser I had for that one was
- 33:21Speaker 2: Dino Crisis.
- 33:23Speaker 3: Oh yeah, that horror game. It was on a list
- 33:27Speaker 3: of it's a horror game. Yeah, like par Parasite two.
- 33:34Speaker 2: Okay, let's have a new category, and this time it's
- 33:37Speaker 2: going to be technically horror.
- 33:41Speaker 4: Yeah. My my classification for horror game was a little
- 33:45Speaker 4: too narrow and too broad at the same time.
- 33:51Speaker 2: The next category is going to be Ultra going first.
- 33:54Speaker 2: And this is a w w F SmackDown playable wrestlers,
- 33:58Speaker 2: So playable wrestler from w w F SmackDown, and it
- 34:02Speaker 2: is Ordra to go first whenever you're ready.
- 34:06Speaker 1: My timelines are so nonsense.
- 34:09Speaker 2: Okay, so that everyone has a fair shot at this,
- 34:12Speaker 2: I'll say attitude Era. Let that be a thing that
- 34:16Speaker 2: might help non wrestling fans as well.
- 34:21Speaker 6: Stone Cold to you erin the rock Iniden, Mick Foley,
- 34:31Speaker 6: Ben Goldberg. Was he in w c W at the time.
- 34:42Speaker 2: Yeah, he was in w c W at the time,
- 34:44Speaker 2: so he was not available in WWF SmackDown. I'm so sorry.
- 34:49Speaker 2: We are going to go back to Aiden.
- 34:53Speaker 6: Oh God, Jeff Hardy.
- 34:58Speaker 3: Yes, Aaron, Matt Hardy, Odra, let's go Rick.
- 35:04Speaker 1: Flair w c W. I heard it when I said it.
- 35:10Speaker 3: Yeah, Okay, we're gonna go back off the Aaron Triple
- 35:14Speaker 3: h Aiden.
- 35:18Speaker 6: Edge.
- 35:18Speaker 3: Aaron Christian Aiden.
- 35:23Speaker 6: Uh Lita.
- 35:28Speaker 2: She was in the game though, right like she was
- 35:31Speaker 2: a playable wrestler. There were only I believe it was
- 35:34Speaker 2: only China and Tory Wilson were the only two playable women.
- 35:39Speaker 1: And I should have gone with that because as soon
- 35:42Speaker 1: as you were like, the only two playable women, and
- 35:44Speaker 1: I was.
- 35:44Speaker 3: Like, toy is gonna be there?
- 35:45Speaker 5: Okay, good because I only had one left and I
- 35:47Speaker 5: wasn't sure about it was El Snow on that list.
- 35:50Speaker 3: Al Snow was on that list.
- 35:52Speaker 6: Yeah, mine was going to be fucking Disco Inferno, who
- 35:57Speaker 6: I think also would have put me in the w
- 35:59Speaker 6: C you trap.
- 36:01Speaker 1: Absolutely Ultimate Warning or what was he doing?
- 36:06Speaker 2: Ultimate Warrior was long gone?
- 36:07Speaker 3: Damn. I mean he was still withers.
- 36:08Speaker 6: Ta he hadn't he hadn't had his his farewell tour
- 36:13Speaker 6: and then immediate death. Yet on the list. That was
- 36:17Speaker 6: the other one I was thinking about it, Undertaker.
- 36:20Speaker 4: I dot Goldberg was a shoeing because he had a
- 36:22Speaker 4: memory card.
- 36:23Speaker 2: You'd think, yeah, just different companies. Yeah, it was Lara Croft,
- 36:27Speaker 2: who was with WW at the time. Yeah, okay, the
- 36:31Speaker 2: golden answer there was Gangrel. If anyone had pulled Gangrel.
- 36:35Speaker 6: Oh you got yeah.
- 36:38Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, but there is another category. The shots are
- 36:42Speaker 2: continuing to be fired. There are only twenty four correct answers.
- 36:45Speaker 2: This time, we're narrowing it down even further. The category
- 36:49Speaker 2: that Ben will be going first on is Teken to
- 36:52Speaker 2: playable characters. Playable characters in Teken to Ben, whenever you're ready, King, Yes,
- 37:00Speaker 2: i'll give you that. I'm a king, is what I
- 37:02Speaker 2: have here? Okay, I'll give you.
- 37:04Speaker 4: Uhdra.
- 37:08Speaker 1: I don't think I've ever even seen tech and be played.
- 37:13Speaker 1: So let's say Cobra.
- 37:21Speaker 6: A name.
- 37:23Speaker 3: It sounds like I was expecting you to say queen
- 37:26Speaker 3: after he said king.
- 37:29Speaker 1: No, these games are sexist, they're not. They're two females.
- 37:33Speaker 5: I mean there was an explosion of female playable protagonists
- 37:37Speaker 5: on the PS one, but most of them had giant breasts.
- 37:40Speaker 2: So yeah, the Laura Croft effect. We'll throw myself into Aaron.
- 37:48Speaker 3: Laywou long nice? Yes, Aiden, obviously.
- 37:54Speaker 6: Fault Uh Volo is that is it? Voldo?
- 38:05Speaker 3: It's not close enough. He's from Soul Caliber.
- 38:08Speaker 6: Oh God, damn it. I was like rattling through all
- 38:11Speaker 6: the fighting games in my head. I got I think
- 38:15Speaker 6: Tecan is the one that I know the least of.
- 38:16Speaker 4: The roster of Yeah, I think I played one. I
- 38:19Speaker 4: had one Tecan game.
- 38:21Speaker 1: Tech and the one with a bear.
- 38:23Speaker 3: Yes, oh my.
- 38:24Speaker 6: God, is there one that's just called Panda and it's
- 38:27Speaker 6: just a panda.
- 38:28Speaker 3: Yes, but he doesn't show up until Tech and three don't.
- 38:31Speaker 2: Yeah, Kuma was in this one, the bear and the
- 38:34Speaker 2: golden answer for this one was Roger, just because I
- 38:37Speaker 2: Roger I think was Kangaroo.
- 38:39Speaker 6: I was gonna say, I knew there was a kangaroo,
- 38:41Speaker 6: but I.
- 38:41Speaker 4: Couldn't remember his name was like Roger. There's like the
- 38:44Speaker 4: drunken old guy with like the bald dude.
- 38:47Speaker 1: I was thinking one of them might just have a
- 38:49Speaker 1: normal guy name, and so I was, I.
- 38:55Speaker 6: Mean, Roger is also a normal guy, a normal guy.
- 38:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 39:00Speaker 2: I think Nina Williams also feels pretty like first name,
- 39:03Speaker 2: last name, pretty normal, because especially when you've got like
- 39:07Speaker 2: martial Law.
- 39:09Speaker 3: It's like a pun name.
- 39:11Speaker 2: He'll go home, Okay, that'll be That'll be two points.
- 39:15Speaker 2: But we are not ready there for having both players
- 39:17Speaker 2: still still standing. There is one more category. Let's see
- 39:21Speaker 2: if it's a little better for the kids over on
- 39:23Speaker 2: the gay station side. This is named characters from the
- 39:26Speaker 2: original Crash Bandicoot trilogy. So named characters from the original
- 39:31Speaker 2: Crash Bandicoot trilogy, and Aiden is starting off this category.
- 39:35Speaker 6: Uh crash Bandicoot. Then a.
- 39:42Speaker 4: Papoo, papoo nice? Oh Odra Coco, Yeah, I'll.
- 39:49Speaker 3: Give you Coco.
- 39:50Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 39:51Speaker 7: Oh Aaron, doctor Cortex Yeah, doctor Cortex.
- 39:57Speaker 6: Aiden h doctor Embryo.
- 40:03Speaker 3: Then bye, God, take a guess, Uh.
- 40:12Speaker 2: Monkey, there's there's like, Okay, we will put it back
- 40:24Speaker 2: to Aiden for this.
- 40:26Speaker 6: Uh dingo dial Yeah, m.
- 40:35Speaker 5: Accident marsupial Okay, that is what I get to throwing ship.
- 40:44Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a whole Crash Bandicoot category.
- 40:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 40:47Speaker 2: Two left standing over on gay station two points.
- 40:51Speaker 6: Koala Kong, entropy engine, polar Pura.
- 40:56Speaker 2: Uh he's still not gold answer.
- 40:59Speaker 6: Oh yeah, I was trying to like I was seeing
- 41:01Speaker 6: if any of them were. I should have said that
- 41:03Speaker 6: before I just started like.
- 41:08Speaker 3: It's fine.
- 41:09Speaker 6: I would lose a little bit that. But it was
- 41:10Speaker 6: also when one of these has to be the gold
- 41:12Speaker 6: manser tiny the tiger.
- 41:18Speaker 2: I went with pinstripe. The pinstripe. If that's how you
- 41:25Speaker 2: pronounce that animal, we'll find out we won't because that's
- 41:28Speaker 2: the end of round one. Let's ask Cocoa bandicoot to
- 41:31Speaker 2: calculate the latest scores. She's got a laptop. Oh damn it,
- 41:35Speaker 2: I think Golder said Coco.
- 41:37Speaker 3: Oh did she? Okay?
- 41:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I bet that laptop's got a calculator. I bet
- 41:41Speaker 2: it's got It doesn't have much else because it was
- 41:45Speaker 2: the nineties. Okay, we are not ready or on four
- 41:48Speaker 2: points and gay Station are on two points. Up next
- 41:54Speaker 2: is round two. If you're listening on a public feed,
- 41:56Speaker 2: it'll be after these ads. But if you head to
- 41:58Speaker 2: patreon dot com slash Gate Leapers, you can listen ad
- 42:02Speaker 2: free for free. So why the bloody hell don't you do? That?
- 42:06Speaker 2: Is what I've written here. We'll be back after these hats.
- 42:15Speaker 2: Round two is called Rotten. You say tomatoes, I say tomatoes,
- 42:19Speaker 2: except this time Aiden also says tomatoes.
- 42:23Speaker 3: It's long title.
- 42:24Speaker 2: It's our review composition game, where teams will take turns
- 42:28Speaker 2: giving a critical review of a PS one game, matching
- 42:31Speaker 2: the percentage score rolled on a D one hundred. It's
- 42:34Speaker 2: not one of those exciting like one hundred sided ones.
- 42:36Speaker 6: It's just I was really expecting like a full like
- 42:40Speaker 6: orb one of these days to budgets. Yeah, just too
- 42:44Speaker 6: de tense. This is Phandomonium though, so there are a
- 42:48Speaker 6: couple more hats to be worn for this game. The
- 42:50Speaker 6: first hat that review will be for a publication decided
- 42:55Speaker 6: by a spin of this wheel.
- 42:58Speaker 1: It is prop heavy. You weren't not run so.
- 43:01Speaker 2: Prop heavy, and I will also decide the game with
- 43:04Speaker 2: the spin of this wheel as well. And then the
- 43:06Speaker 2: second hat is that review will be delivered one word
- 43:09Speaker 2: at a time, back and forth between teammates, and you
- 43:13Speaker 2: keep going until I cut you off, probably with this sound,
- 43:17Speaker 2: because that's just then. Sorry if you hate that sound.
- 43:22Speaker 3: I've not gotten enough of it yet. Do we all
- 43:28Speaker 3: understand the game? Yeah?
- 43:30Speaker 6: I think so?
- 43:31Speaker 2: Yeah, Okay, so I am going to have gay Station
- 43:34Speaker 2: go first on this one. I think so first, with
- 43:37Speaker 2: the spin of the wheel, going to decide your game
- 43:39Speaker 2: that you will be reviewing. That looks like the Lime
- 43:43Speaker 2: Green to me, which is Tony Hawk's pro Skater, is
- 43:46Speaker 2: going to be the game that you'll be reviewing. Let's
- 43:49Speaker 2: find out which publication it will be before number seven
- 43:57Speaker 2: for the Kaye Do Cinema. Okay, it's it's French who
- 44:02Speaker 2: that is. Play to the height of your knowledge on
- 44:05Speaker 2: what you think the kaya Do Cinema is and the
- 44:09Speaker 2: percentage score. The tone of your review will be an
- 44:16Speaker 2: eighty seven percent. An eighty seven percent review of Tony
- 44:20Speaker 2: Hawk's pro Skater for the Kaya Do Cinema. Whenever you're ready,
- 44:24Speaker 2: one word at a time, take it away, Ordre.
- 44:28Speaker 10: Towny knowledge Kaya Cinema.
- 44:39Speaker 6: I was trying to think of a way to say
- 44:40Speaker 6: Hawk in a French accent, but it's really difficult. Ok
- 44:47Speaker 6: was an amazing skid the Bodell.
- 44:54Speaker 1: And this game is in.
- 45:02Speaker 6: Kickflip was phenomenon. I love two Kickflip.
- 45:24Speaker 2: An excellent review of Tony Hawk's cinema.
- 45:27Speaker 3: There.
- 45:28Speaker 2: I loved the French accents. I loved getting skateboarding terms
- 45:32Speaker 2: in in those French accents.
- 45:34Speaker 6: I loved cackflip.
- 45:39Speaker 2: I could have I could have used like a bit
- 45:41Speaker 2: of the kind of like paisiness that the Kaya Discinema
- 45:44Speaker 2: are known for with their like two thousand word essays
- 45:46Speaker 2: or whatever. But my goodness, I'm going to give you
- 45:49Speaker 2: four out of five points for that because I very
- 45:51Speaker 2: much enjoyed those accents. Cribbler fantastic. Okay, let's move on
- 45:59Speaker 2: off so we are not ready to have a review. First,
- 46:03Speaker 2: Let's find out your game Metal Gear Solid is your
- 46:07Speaker 2: game that you will be reviewing. But for which publication
- 46:11Speaker 2: have you been hired to write this review? That's also seven.
- 46:14Speaker 2: We can't do the kaya dicinema again, simply eight common
- 46:19Speaker 2: sense media. If you're common sense media, I'm played at
- 46:23Speaker 2: the height of your knowledge. I'm not going to give
- 46:24Speaker 2: you any clues.
- 46:27Speaker 4: Are those like the was that the one that was
- 46:29Speaker 4: all like the super against like violence and video games?
- 46:32Speaker 2: That It's got a bunch of that going. It's got
- 46:34Speaker 2: a bunch of that happening, you know, you know what
- 46:36Speaker 2: we're talking about?
- 46:37Speaker 4: How we get a high score out of this one?
- 46:39Speaker 3: I like, well, to help you roll high. It's ninety eight.
- 46:52Speaker 2: So this is a ninety eight review of Metal Gear
- 46:56Speaker 2: Solid for common sense Media.
- 46:58Speaker 3: Whenever you're ready, take it away bare.
- 47:01Speaker 5: This American game features many acts of violence, but I
- 47:19Speaker 5: didn't hate playing at much stealth period. Yeah, you can
- 47:31Speaker 5: say that entering Alaska while hiding in plane sight was thrilling,
- 47:49Speaker 5: and I orgasmed whilst shooting jerks.
- 48:01Speaker 3: There we go.
- 48:04Speaker 2: I was so worried you weren't going to get up
- 48:06Speaker 2: to the highs of ninety eight percent with that review,
- 48:09Speaker 2: and then you said you orgasmed while shooting jokes.
- 48:12Speaker 6: Like you kind of You've got no choice at that
- 48:14Speaker 6: point but to go above ninety five.
- 48:17Speaker 2: Yeah, oh my goodness. Look, it could have maybe used
- 48:21Speaker 2: some more warnings about how it's uh, you know, affecting
- 48:26Speaker 2: the youth of today.
- 48:29Speaker 4: The game converted us.
- 48:33Speaker 5: Yes, yeah, the game was so good it literally converted
- 48:36Speaker 5: these Yeah.
- 48:37Speaker 4: We were actually fired from Commonsoles media directly after.
- 48:42Speaker 2: Well, because of that firing, i'll have to I'll have
- 48:45Speaker 2: to dock one point, and I'll also dock a point
- 48:47Speaker 2: for I think you said it was an American game,
- 48:49Speaker 2: but I don't necessarily think it is.
- 48:52Speaker 3: Come on, it's very American.
- 48:55Speaker 4: The theme of the game is very American.
- 48:57Speaker 6: It's crazy, and also the common sense media writers probably
- 48:59Speaker 6: would make the mistake if they ring.
- 49:01Speaker 3: It, Yeah, the American game.
- 49:04Speaker 2: Okay, your your opponent has talked it back up to
- 49:07Speaker 2: being four points instead of.
- 49:08Speaker 6: No, I take it back.
- 49:11Speaker 3: I was really don't understand the meeting. I'll try and
- 49:13Speaker 3: earn you guys a point.
- 49:16Speaker 4: I was trying to angle for a hiding in a
- 49:17Speaker 4: box reference, but just but it's hard time.
- 49:22Speaker 1: I was trying to work in a cigarette. I don't
- 49:24Speaker 1: know how I was going to get there.
- 49:25Speaker 3: But I couldn't think of the name of the base.
- 49:27Speaker 3: I just knew it was in Alaska.
- 49:29Speaker 2: But it's just well, look, if I if I cut
- 49:31Speaker 2: Arron off right now, we've still got time to do
- 49:33Speaker 2: one of the review each, so yes, quick spin of
- 49:37Speaker 2: the wheel here. The game that Gay Station will be
- 49:40Speaker 2: reviewing is Spiral the Dragon, and it will be four.
- 49:45Speaker 2: We've done those two already, so I'll move it here
- 49:48Speaker 2: the BBC. So it's a review of Spiral the Dragon.
- 49:52Speaker 2: You guys are getting the BC. Oh yeah, the BBC.
- 50:00Speaker 2: You do not like Spiral the Dragons.
- 50:01Speaker 6: I was really hoping for this twelve Spiral.
- 50:06Speaker 2: The Dragon for the BBC Aiden. Whenever you're ready, take
- 50:10Speaker 2: it away.
- 50:11Speaker 6: This game bloody sucks. Never have I ever.
- 50:22Speaker 1: Ever ever.
- 50:27Speaker 6: Played a disgraceful game as this shitty little dragon. Not
- 50:44Speaker 6: only does he look homosexual, he also looks.
- 51:00Speaker 1: Say it. You don't have to. But something came to.
- 51:05Speaker 6: My mind, Irish, I was trying to think things that
- 51:18Speaker 6: a British journalist would hate in the nineties.
- 51:21Speaker 2: Yep, I'm loving scoring you the full five points because
- 51:24Speaker 2: that was very accurate to the BBC in the nineties.
- 51:27Speaker 3: Wow.
- 51:28Speaker 1: God, the thing I was thinking he looks homosexual, but
- 51:32Speaker 1: he also looks gay Irish for the BBC in the nineties.
- 51:40Speaker 2: So yeah, oh that was fantastic, brilliantly done. That's exactly
- 51:47Speaker 2: what the BBC sounded like in the nineties. It's what
- 51:49Speaker 2: the BBC kind of sounds like now.
- 51:51Speaker 1: An accent. You already can't do one word at a time.
- 51:55Speaker 6: I don't know why I pull on a.
- 52:00Speaker 1: God inclusion. I respect you trying to make me feel
- 52:04Speaker 1: like a part of it.
- 52:05Speaker 2: Okay, we have one more review left to hear from.
- 52:09Speaker 2: We are not ready, and the game is going to
- 52:12Speaker 2: be Resident Evil too, and the publication is going to
- 52:18Speaker 2: be It's just all been landing in the same place.
- 52:21Speaker 2: I wonder if this is a weighted thing. It's going
- 52:22Speaker 2: to be The Boston Globe. Probably an accent based one.
- 52:26Speaker 3: I reckon.
- 52:29Speaker 4: The Globe sounds like otherwise.
- 52:33Speaker 2: Interesting. Okay, it is a fifty five percent review. It's
- 52:37Speaker 2: always fun to play right down the middle. A fifty
- 52:40Speaker 2: five percent review of Resident Evil two for the Boston Globe.
- 52:45Speaker 3: Take it away, Aaron.
- 52:47Speaker 11: These fucking zambiast what so fucking wicked slow and yeah,
- 53:02Speaker 11: AND's a word.
- 53:07Speaker 7: Leaving all that in, don't change the game, it's two
- 53:19Speaker 7: mediocre like now Yorkers.
- 53:30Speaker 2: I mean, look, your accents were incredible from the start,
- 53:33Speaker 2: and the number of Boston references that you managed to
- 53:36Speaker 2: get in there just brilliant stuff. I gotta give you
- 53:39Speaker 2: the full five out of five points as well. Fantastic review. Awesome,
- 53:43Speaker 2: and working with fifty five is tough as well. With
- 53:45Speaker 2: it's much easier to work with the extremes of opinion. Absolutely,
- 53:49Speaker 2: Oh thank you critics.
- 53:51Speaker 3: That's the end of the round.
- 53:53Speaker 2: Let's ask the intelligent revolver os alot to calculate the
- 53:57Speaker 2: later scores. Who I assume is one of the crash
- 54:00Speaker 2: bandicoot characters, like a mammal.
- 54:02Speaker 4: With a gun.
- 54:03Speaker 7: Nope, metal gear solid, metal gear solid, that's it, Okay,
- 54:08Speaker 7: but he is but he is an oss No, we
- 54:14Speaker 7: are not ready.
- 54:15Speaker 2: Are on thirteen points, Gay Station, are on it eleven points?
- 54:20Speaker 1: Still close?
- 54:21Speaker 2: Round three next, Indeed, it can all change. Well, I
- 54:26Speaker 2: was gonna say in the quick fire round, but it's
- 54:28Speaker 2: actually round three first, which is after these ads for
- 54:31Speaker 2: Junco Jeans, Blockbuster Video and GHAK. Round three is called
- 54:42Speaker 2: the hear Me Out Cake. That's right, it's an eighteen
- 54:45Speaker 2: month social media trend. Eighteen month old social media trend
- 54:49Speaker 2: that we're still doing as a game. I have a
- 54:52Speaker 2: cake here or because of budget constraints, it's a muffin.
- 54:58Speaker 1: Incredible, incredible, Okay, I'm going to try not to.
- 55:04Speaker 2: So this cake contains silhouettes of four different iconic PS
- 55:08Speaker 2: one characters. In Turns, players will pick characters from this cake,
- 55:13Speaker 2: and they will each have sixty seconds to justify their relationship, sexual,
- 55:18Speaker 2: or otherwise to the character they selected. So we all
- 55:22Speaker 2: familiar with the concept of hear.
- 55:23Speaker 3: Me out loosely.
- 55:24Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I'm probably gonna make Audra go first as
- 55:28Speaker 2: an example. So so no matter how you feel about
- 55:31Speaker 2: the character you select, you've got to absolutely go to
- 55:35Speaker 2: bat for them. Justifications will be ranked and points awarded
- 55:38Speaker 2: five four, three, two one. After we've heard all four players,
- 55:42Speaker 2: and I think, yeah, Audra, you're gonna go first. You're
- 55:45Speaker 2: the only person who has the privilege of like selecting
- 55:47Speaker 2: in person if you would like to remove which of
- 55:51Speaker 2: ever of these silhouettes looks good to you.
- 55:53Speaker 1: Yes, I think I've got an idea of who one
- 55:55Speaker 1: of them might be, and so I'm gonna just pick it.
- 55:57Speaker 1: I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna do it, my god,
- 55:59Speaker 1: for this guy.
- 56:01Speaker 8: Nice?
- 56:02Speaker 2: You want to show it to the camera. Is it
- 56:05Speaker 2: who you thought it is?
- 56:07Speaker 3: Yes?
- 56:08Speaker 2: Nice, Okay, I'll you get the timer. Another problem and.
- 56:13Speaker 1: Hold this up so that people can see him.
- 56:17Speaker 2: Okay, oldra, your minute of hear me out for whoever
- 56:21Speaker 2: that is begins now.
- 56:23Speaker 1: Okay, hear me out. Here's why I would fuck Link.
- 56:32Speaker 1: He's so dedicated to Zelda, he'd go.
- 56:35Speaker 3: He's going all of high rule.
- 56:39Speaker 1: He's climbing, He's climbing a lot. That's good hand strength awesome.
- 56:45Speaker 1: I mean you can't really see it here because they've
- 56:48Speaker 1: rendered him with special hands. This is definitely my boy Link,
- 56:52Speaker 1: and I definitely fuck him. Like he's got that great
- 56:57Speaker 1: yellow blonde hair, the very very stylish, especially in the
- 57:02Speaker 1: mid nineties. He's got great style. You can tell from here.
- 57:08Speaker 1: The fact that like he's not wearing his traditional green,
- 57:10Speaker 1: which means that he does have a full wardrobe. It
- 57:12Speaker 1: doesn't just have to be that. And so you know
- 57:15Speaker 1: he's out there making choices and so I that's why
- 57:18Speaker 1: I think that he that Link, my boy would be
- 57:21Speaker 1: an incredible lover.
- 57:23Speaker 3: That's your time. I mean, oh my god.
- 57:27Speaker 6: I need the promotional clip for this episode to just
- 57:31Speaker 6: be nothing else. Oh my god, or you're holding up
- 57:35Speaker 6: what I think is cloud strife, yes and saying his
- 57:39Speaker 6: white fuggling that is fantastic.
- 57:45Speaker 3: God.
- 57:47Speaker 2: Okay, well, look, I feel like you've been like softly,
- 57:51Speaker 2: I actually by your teammate in the most polite way.
- 57:54Speaker 1: I don't know what we're talking about.
- 57:57Speaker 3: I almost don't care that you didn't know that that
- 57:58Speaker 3: was trifle.
- 58:01Speaker 5: I think it was way better than if she just
- 58:04Speaker 5: shut straightforward. Honestly, crowds cloud strife is too easy. So
- 58:09Speaker 5: she she took a more difficult route, and I think
- 58:12Speaker 5: she should be rewarded for that.
- 58:14Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 58:15Speaker 3: Okay, I plan to be very good.
- 58:18Speaker 2: I cannot make the judgment yet, though, I need to
- 58:20Speaker 2: hear more hit me outs before I possibly can decide.
- 58:23Speaker 2: Aaron Europe next, which of these three silhouettes would you like?
- 58:29Speaker 5: Can I go for this? Yeah, he's he looks more
- 58:32Speaker 5: in my type. We could go with the dude.
- 58:34Speaker 3: In the back.
- 58:35Speaker 2: The dude in the back, yeah absolutely. So Odra is
- 58:38Speaker 2: going to like reveal to you the right across the
- 58:41Speaker 2: camera so you can see who it is.
- 58:42Speaker 3: Okay, go ahead, so that I can be a little closer. Oh,
- 58:47Speaker 3: I know who it is.
- 58:48Speaker 2: Okay, that's your that's your PS one character there, So, Aaron,
- 58:53Speaker 2: are you ready to justify absolute your attraction to this character?
- 58:58Speaker 3: Time starts now. Now.
- 59:00Speaker 5: I don't know about you, but I've wanted to fuck
- 59:02Speaker 5: a clown since I came of age, and honestly, honestly,
- 59:07Speaker 5: what better choice than sweet tooth? I mean, honestly, the man.
- 59:11Speaker 5: The man has muscles. First thing number two? Uh, he
- 59:16Speaker 5: drives an ice cream truck. Man, I love ice cream.
- 59:19Speaker 5: That's awesome. Not to mention he gets into a violent,
- 59:23Speaker 5: you know, murder spree, you know, with other vehicle combat drivers.
- 59:28Speaker 5: But but the fact of the matter is he keeps
- 59:30Speaker 5: coming back, so he must constantly be winning. And think
- 59:33Speaker 5: of that bread. Honestly, just just I want him to
- 59:39Speaker 5: twist my metal. I want him to to homing missile
- 59:43Speaker 5: me in in in my uh, in my exhaust port
- 59:47Speaker 5: and just go to town.
- 59:50Speaker 3: I will squeeze his nose.
- 59:52Speaker 5: He can rub my hips and uh and give me
- 59:55Speaker 5: a gentle massage as he spoon feeds ice cream treats
- 59:58Speaker 5: into my mouth.
- 59:59Speaker 2: Oh are a nice, nice sweet end to that After
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: the reference to the exhausts, Yeah, I mean, good job
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: recognizing the character there as well a lot of good
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: references to twisted metal in there, including a twisted of
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: the twisting of the metal that you would like to happen.
- 1:00:21Speaker 7: I couldn't figure out how to work Calypso in there,
- 1:00:23Speaker 7: but I was trying.
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: Oh brilliant.
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: Okay again, I'll hold off my judgment until I hear
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: all of them because this is so important. This is
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: crucial cultural work we're doing.
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: Fox.
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: Aiden, you are the last player who has a choice here,
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: would you like to.
- 1:00:43Speaker 6: I'm gonna I'm gonna go for that. The sultry lounger
- 1:00:47Speaker 6: on the st lounger.
- 1:00:48Speaker 4: Okay, Jeff goldbl.
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: It's really giving Jeff gold No, I think I.
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: Know who that is.
- 1:00:56Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm pretty sure. If it's not who I think
- 1:00:58Speaker 6: it is, then I'm screwed.
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: It's gotta be Okay, here's the reveal.
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, okay, Aiden, your justification begins.
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: Now.
- 1:01:10Speaker 6: I want Abe to take me on an odyssey because
- 1:01:15Speaker 6: hear me out. Okay, he's got access to delicious soda
- 1:01:19Speaker 6: drinks for snacks. He he's built weird, so you know,
- 1:01:26Speaker 6: he's a freaking the sheets. He's got like the like power,
- 1:01:31Speaker 6: he's in a he's a platformer, so like you know,
- 1:01:34Speaker 6: he's got like serious power in those thighs. He's a revolutionary.
- 1:01:40Speaker 6: He starts and I think ends a worker's movement. So
- 1:01:46Speaker 6: he's he's woke. He's got that social consciousness. And I honestly,
- 1:01:52Speaker 6: and this is they hear me out part. I think
- 1:01:54Speaker 6: his voice is sexy as fuck. I want him to
- 1:01:57Speaker 6: get in my ear and just go, oh mummy. And
- 1:02:05Speaker 6: if you don't want to hear me out about that,
- 1:02:07Speaker 6: then I don't want to hear it. And I'm going
- 1:02:09Speaker 6: to turn you into soda over it.
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: Nice good stuff like how aggressive you got towards the
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: potential audience.
- 1:02:16Speaker 3: The sorry, not potential audience. We have an audience. But
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: that's just such a sweet little guy.
- 1:02:27Speaker 6: I haven't played any of those games in like a decade.
- 1:02:30Speaker 6: I really hope that I got the voice somewhat close
- 1:02:32Speaker 6: to what I remember it being, like, I don't think
- 1:02:35Speaker 6: he says.
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: Yeah, mummy, okay. Ben.
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: As the last player, you do not have a choice.
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: I'm afraid you are left with the only character. Do
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: you think you might have an idea from the silhouette?
- 1:02:52Speaker 4: I think so, but I'm not sure. If I don't
- 1:02:55Speaker 4: remember that being PS one. I know it was PS two,
- 1:02:58Speaker 4: but it's okay.
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: We completely get a little reveal here, horny.
- 1:03:14Speaker 4: So much better than what I thought it was.
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: Well, after your minute, we'll find out who you thought
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: it was. But for now, let's hear your hand me
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: out on this character. Your time starts now.
- 1:03:25Speaker 4: Kick punch. It's all in my pants, beautiful wrapping dojo
- 1:03:35Speaker 4: mass masters. I don't remember his name, but that does
- 1:03:37Speaker 4: not stop me from wanting to peel him like the
- 1:03:41Speaker 4: onion he is, and uh and cry all night long
- 1:03:46Speaker 4: as he makes sweet love to me. I mean he's
- 1:03:52Speaker 4: got everything. He's got the moves, he's got that mustache.
- 1:03:55Speaker 4: I love a man with a mustache. He's uh, he's
- 1:04:00Speaker 4: you know, two dimensional, which is cool, Like I don't
- 1:04:03Speaker 4: I don't like them that thick, So you don't get
- 1:04:05Speaker 4: any thinner than paper. That is that? That is the
- 1:04:10Speaker 4: way I like to do it. And uh, yeah, I
- 1:04:14Speaker 4: don't know. I just he's look look at him, he's
- 1:04:17Speaker 4: got that belt and his toes are out like, let's
- 1:04:22Speaker 4: fuck bro.
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: Fantastic. I think is his name either Master Onion or
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: sense a Onion. It's just something onion. Yeah, yeah, rapper
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: though that's fucking yeah.
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: Great game.
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: Oh that was fantastic. Thank you all for sharing your
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: true feelings. Uh broadcast on the internet. I now have
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: a very difficult decision to make to rank these and
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: I don't think I can give anyone two points, like
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: none of none of those hear me outs felt like
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: two points at all. But I'm going to go three
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: points joined. I think for Ben and Audra, just for
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: not quite having the name, maybe there was wasn't as
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: much familiarity with the with the characters.
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: You don't know him like I do.
- 1:05:16Speaker 4: It probably is master on you or something. It's something
- 1:05:18Speaker 4: very generic.
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: I don't know. I think Cloud would be down to
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: be called.
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: So uh and I think I'm gonna split Aaron and Aiden.
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: I'm gonna go Aaron four points, Aiden five points because
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: we got we got voice, we got an impression of Abe,
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: so that was great.
- 1:05:41Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: Yeah, Aiden's was superior to mine. No, no, no contests,
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: we're even now.
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: Point incredible guys.
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: Who stick no.
- 1:06:00Speaker 8: Actually, end of round three. Laura Croft to calculate lay
- 1:06:05Speaker 8: for scores. An intelligent woman. She has two degrees.
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: All my friends call it getting double d's. Okay, those
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: goes are we are not ready. Sorry, this is disgusting
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: for listeners are on twenty points. Gay station are on
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: nineteen points.
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: Oh so close.
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: We can all change in the crucial quick fire around.
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: But before we get there, let's talk prizes. This episode.
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: Star Prize is the concept of play and as the
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: PlayStation introduced duel shock controllers, make sure that play involves vibrations.
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: But our winning team will also receive the rest of
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: this muffin.
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: Up.
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: Next is our crucial quick fire around. After this last
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: set of ads, unless you're listening on Patreon and then.
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: Lucky you back soon.
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: Our final quick fire round will test your broader pop
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: culture knowledge and it's called the tie in buy in
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: Part two.
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: But about one.
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: So in our PS two episodes that we yeah, it's
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: it's so forced and require so much law. We did
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: a PS two episode a couple of years ago where
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: the quick fire answers were all films that had games
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: released for the PS two, So we're doing the exact
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: same thing but for the PS one. Some movies that
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: had tie in games for the PS one. Some of
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: them are a little earlier than the PS one era,
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: but most of them were thinking nineties. So in this game,
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: I'll give our players clues to a movie that had
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: a PS one tie in game, and those clues will
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: be in the style of an Inner World trailer.
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: So that's how the clues will go.
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: And there's of course a classic gate Leapers twist which
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: I have not actually written, so we get the fun
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: thing of coming up what the twist is.
- 1:08:09Speaker 5: Here's after you say the title go coming soon.
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: Oh I like that. That plays on the Inner World. Well,
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: so you've got to say coming soon after you say
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: your answer, otherwise I cannot give you the point. So
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: it's quick fire buzz in by yelling out your team name.
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: Let's practice that. Now, Rady Station, Gay Station, it's Gay
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: station versus Ready. So I'll give an example. If I said,
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: in a world where one spaceman must stand up to
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: a man in a chicken suit, Star Command is standing
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: by so this ranger can save his cowboy.
- 1:08:46Speaker 6: Ready a station.
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: Ben toy story is coming. Uh yeah, I'd like to
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: hear more of the coming soon.
- 1:08:56Speaker 4: I think it's coming soon.
- 1:08:59Speaker 3: Toy story coming, coming, coming.
- 1:09:05Speaker 4: Coming soon.
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: Nice.
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I did have toy story too, but you know what,
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: I'll accept toy story. We'll go with. We'll go with franchise.
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: Interrupt me at any point, are we already?
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: Yeah, Okay, here we go. In a world where one
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: cop just wants to attend the office Christmas party legally.
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: I think I think I was Aaron first.
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: I think so.
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: Die Hard Coming soon? Nice, excellent stuff from Dired trilogy.
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: From the Diehard Trilogy. Absolutely, In a world where a
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: billionaire has to solve riddles the Dark Night teams with
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: Yes Aiden Batman. Yeah, I said yes, I heard coming soon.
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: I interrupted you before you even had chance to say it.
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: This is Batman forever. But I will take Batman because
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: we're doing franchises. I'm adding so many caveat rules to
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: this that this is no longer funny. This is just
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: like a pub quiz in a world where everyone makes
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: bad decisions. Apart from Sigourney Weaver, one woman, Yes, Aaron
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: Alien coming soon?
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: It is indeed Alien from.
- 1:10:13Speaker 5: Alien Trilogy, Alien Trilogy or Alien Resurrection. Oh nice, both
- 1:10:19Speaker 5: In a world where wizards avoid the bathroom gender issue
- 1:10:23Speaker 5: by shitting on the floor.
- 1:10:29Speaker 6: Harry Potter.
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: Unfortunately, in a world where one redneck must fly into
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: the heart of a spaceship and ready, Yes, Aaron Independence
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: Day Coming soon is independence.
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: Think. Yeah, I d four as it was in a world.
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: Where trade blockades and failed negot Ready, let's take Ben.
- 1:11:01Speaker 4: You know, Star Wars The Phantom Menace coming soon?
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: Nice good stuff. I would have just taken Star Wars
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: based on the previous ruling. So yeah, good job saying
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: Phantom Menace. In a world where toys come to life,
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: but not in a Pixel Pixar sort of way, Suburbia
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: must defend itself.
- 1:11:18Speaker 6: Yes, Aiden, Small Soldiers coming soon?
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: It is indeed nice.
- 1:11:23Speaker 6: Yes, what a film?
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: What a film in a world where aliens walk amongst us,
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: only one agency is up to the task. Yes, Aaron
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: men in Black coming soon? Nice good stuff in a
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: world that was a big exile.
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I get them, like half a second too late.
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: I'm really feeling not being able to watch any media
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: in the nineties.
- 1:11:51Speaker 3: It just means you're not as old as Ben and.
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: I and religiously sheltered.
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: In a world where one demi god goes from hero
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: to zero. A gay station, I'm so sorry.
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: I know. I know you did. I know you did.
- 1:12:11Speaker 4: I think it might be too late, though, Uh, Percy
- 1:12:15Speaker 4: Jackson coming suit.
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: Oh that's not right, gay station. Yes, I know what
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: it is God, damn it Hercules coming suit.
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: It is Hercules.
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: I got to watch that in college.
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: In a world where dinosaurs are somehow back von oh Aaron, I.
- 1:12:39Speaker 5: Think, yeah, uh, Jurassic Park coming soon.
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll take it. Jurassic Park. The Lost World was
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: the game.
- 1:12:48Speaker 5: Did not know there was a Jurassic Park PS one game.
- 1:12:51Speaker 5: Somehow that one slipped by me.
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: In a world where there's also a dinosaur, a group
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: of babies find themselves in France.
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: Gay Station, Yes, Aiden.
- 1:13:02Speaker 6: Rug Rats in Paris coming.
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: Stuff and quick before the Buzzer. In a world where
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: a ruling class of robber barons terrorize and intimidate the proletariat,
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: one worker must team up with the creative arts world
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: in order to show the working class who exactly ben.
- 1:13:28Speaker 4: No, I don't have it.
- 1:13:30Speaker 6: A station, Yes, robots coming soon.
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: It's not who exactly controls society. Oh and they're all insects.
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: Gay Station, Yes, Uldra.
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: A Bugs Life coming series.
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: A Bug's Life And that's the Buzzer.
- 1:13:49Speaker 6: I love that there. There's there's two distinct like socialist
- 1:13:53Speaker 6: films that are animated from like the same kind of
- 1:13:56Speaker 6: like decade like.
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: When Yeah, and that's before we talk about Monsters, inc.
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: And the America is fueled on the screams of children. Okay,
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: before we get to the final scores, i'd like to
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: thank our players. You've all been brilliant and I shouldn't
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: have underestimated your power.
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: More powerful than God.
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: Oh my goodness. Yes, we definitely still have time for
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: plugs and promos. Aaron, b FYITW. You've just started doing
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: monthly Blood on the clock Tower episodes.
- 1:14:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:14:35Speaker 5: Yeah, we had to reschedule the second month's episode, but
- 1:14:39Speaker 5: the first one is up and out so and I'm
- 1:14:42Speaker 5: hoping to return to making that a monthly thing because
- 1:14:47Speaker 5: we did genuinely have a lot of fun and it's
- 1:14:50Speaker 5: it's I'm looking forward to getting people back together to
- 1:14:53Speaker 5: do that. But yeah, that's that's one of the exciting
- 1:14:55Speaker 5: things we're doing at BFYW right now.
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: Yeah, it was so much fun to participate in that.
- 1:15:01Speaker 2: I won't give any spoilers because I would love folks
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: to listen to it, but I had a blast.
- 1:15:06Speaker 5: Yeah, absolutely, and I can't wait to do it again.
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: Yes, heck yeah.
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: And of course you can buy Aaron's novels Thame Raker
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: in the Inevitability of Life.
- 1:15:18Speaker 5: Yes, both available anywhere you can find a fine books
- 1:15:23Speaker 5: such as Oh yes, you can get physical copies as well.
- 1:15:26Speaker 5: The ebooks are no longer on sale. I'm afraid that's
- 1:15:29Speaker 5: the thing to say, right, they're not in sale anymore.
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: Sorry, but hey, physical copies, that's always copies.
- 1:15:36Speaker 3: That's how you wear in now.
- 1:15:38Speaker 5: I might just do a physical copy sale in June
- 1:15:41Speaker 5: because that's my birthday month.
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: So nice, happy birthday month coming up.
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: Yay, absolutely, Ben, I think Geek Exploration you just put
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: out your one hundredth episode.
- 1:15:54Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, we made another one, very nice. Yeah, it
- 1:15:57Speaker 4: was fun. I think we're probably we're going to do
- 1:15:59Speaker 4: some more at some point. I don't know, I mean
- 1:16:01Speaker 4: like it kind of. It's when it hits us at
- 1:16:03Speaker 4: this point, as opposed to, yeah, having to like have
- 1:16:05Speaker 4: a schedule and fucking care about media all the time,
- 1:16:09Speaker 4: because I don't.
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: It's so hard to care about media. That's why we
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: play games instead.
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: Exhaust brought it lightheartedly.
- 1:16:20Speaker 4: And space oddities for is coming along. I'm hoping that
- 1:16:23Speaker 4: we'll be having a kickstarter later this year, but we'll
- 1:16:28Speaker 4: just see how everything pans out. But that's the plan
- 1:16:30Speaker 4: is maybe for the fall or winter we'll shoot for something,
- 1:16:34Speaker 4: but no guarantees. We'll see how life goes.
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: Yeah, see what happens. I'm looking forward to space Auditis
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: for whenever it happens, but a kickstart at.
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: The end of the year would be nice.
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: Yeah, fantastic And aiden Rickety Fidgets, where can folks follow
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: you and check out stuff that's happening there? Anything else
- 1:16:53Speaker 2: you want to shout out at this moment in time.
- 1:16:56Speaker 6: I mean, I really want to see what the physical
- 1:16:58Speaker 6: prop you have for my theater company, because you've got it,
- 1:17:01Speaker 6: you've got on for everyone else. Yeah, digits, We're at
- 1:17:15Speaker 6: Ricky Fidgets on Instagram. We've kind of like gone into
- 1:17:19Speaker 6: hibernation mode a little bit. We are working behind the
- 1:17:24Speaker 6: scenes on getting the means to make more stuff. I
- 1:17:28Speaker 6: don't want to like call our shot just in case
- 1:17:30Speaker 6: something doesn't come of it, but like we're working on
- 1:17:33Speaker 6: new things, and we will make new things regardless. It's
- 1:17:36Speaker 6: just a matter of when we're going to look at
- 1:17:39Speaker 6: doing some more like spontaneous show or more spontaneous shows.
- 1:17:44Speaker 6: They will still be planned, but like the chabbarets that
- 1:17:46Speaker 6: we've done before, where we do local cabaret and have
- 1:17:50Speaker 6: like a bunch of drag, poetry, music, et cetera. We're
- 1:17:53Speaker 6: gonna try and do one of those again this year.
- 1:17:57Speaker 6: But if you want to give us a follow, and
- 1:17:59Speaker 6: you live in Britain or visit Britain regularly, then we
- 1:18:04Speaker 6: will be doing some stuff at some point.
- 1:18:09Speaker 3: Nice.
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: Hey, it's always good to just brack up those followers
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: for when things do happen, like a mailing list kind.
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: Of thing, and then people know when things are happening.
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: So absolutely give them a follow, because then you'll know
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: when stuff's going on.
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: Yes, follow support by even by physical media Fox. It's
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: a really enjoyable thing to do at the moment, and
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: so pick up Baron's bugs, pick up space oddityas do it. Okay,
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: shall we get to those final scores?
- 1:18:38Speaker 5: Hell yeah, I think we actually are ready.
- 1:18:43Speaker 6: Are a gay Station.
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: The final scores still have that one point difference, so
- 1:18:54Speaker 2: it's very close right up until the end. Gay Station
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: finish on twenty five points, but maybe they were ready.
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: We are not ready finish on twenty six points. Yeah.
- 1:19:06Speaker 3: Wow, what a game.
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: Dang God, I'm glad that we didn't go with the
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: tagline of more powerful than God. Oh boy, Well.
- 1:19:15Speaker 5: How many ps one RPGs had an antagonist say that
- 1:19:20Speaker 5: you'd always take them down in the end.
- 1:19:22Speaker 4: Huh, I've always wanted to take God down a peg so.
- 1:19:27Speaker 6: And I've always wanted to peg God.

- 1:19:35Speaker 2: We've got game shows about the PS two, the Nez,
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: and a bunch of fandoms where you touch grass. Please
- 1:19:41Speaker 2: leave us a five star review if you had a
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: good time, and ignore this sentence. If you didn't, please
- 1:19:46Speaker 2: share this episode with a friend, a PS one fan,
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: a geriatric millennial. And I leave you with this quote
- 1:19:52Speaker 2: that's mistakenly attributed to Final Fantasy Tactics. If the penalty
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: for a crime is a fine, then that law only
- 1:20:00Speaker 2: exists for the lower class. It's actually not from a
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: PS one game. It's a Mandela effect thing, but it
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: absolutely should be, and it's worth repeating.
- 1:20:07Speaker 3: Goodbye.
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: If there's ever a line to end on, always play
- 1:20:22Speaker 2: the music after someone says they want to peg a deity.
- 1:20:25Speaker 2: That's just some comedy advice for you. Thank you so
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: much for listening to this wild PS one episode. It's
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: not lost on me that I have the best job
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: in the world and I couldn't do this without the
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: support of our wonderful executive producers. So here's a unique
- 1:20:42Speaker 2: PS one themed shout out to each and every one
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: of you. Ash and Adam, I'm giving you a medal
- 1:20:47Speaker 2: of honor for being our first ever executive producers. Thank
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: you so much. DoD Boog memory card, DoD Boog memory card.
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: Thank you, Justin, Derek and Taylor. What a pair of
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: crash band acuties that works. That's a pun. Look the
- 1:21:04Speaker 2: man himself. I know he's up twisting his metal. It's
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: Aaron Randolph. He killed it on this episode. Aaron, And
- 1:21:11Speaker 2: do I spy a Row?
- 1:21:13Speaker 3: No?
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: I don't spy a Row. I spire Kristin Farley, Thank
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: you so much for supporting us.
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: Kristin.
- 1:21:18Speaker 2: Thank you to Troy Davidson who protects us from Resident Evil.
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: That's the state sanctioned domestic terrorists. Oh man, there's no
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: joke here, but remember Spider Man for the PS one.
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: That was a kick ass superhero game, just like the
- 1:21:33Speaker 2: maker of Team Up, Johnny Wilson, is also kick ass.
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: Gorbin Stein, I have heard you do Transylvania like voices,
- 1:21:41Speaker 2: so maybe you could go to Castlevania. Thank you, Gorbin,
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: and thank you to Ivan Krono Crossman. I've just read
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: that Chrono cross game for the first time and thought
- 1:21:52Speaker 2: I could make it work as a pun with your name,
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: and it barely does. And Matt Smith, it's always nice, Tomba,
- 1:21:59Speaker 2: too tummy to meet you. It's nice to meet you, Tombatoo.
- 1:22:03Speaker 2: I'm very tired while I'm recording this. Thank you all
- 1:22:07Speaker 2: so much. Executive producers. If you would like to sign

- 1:22:45Speaker 3: Bye.
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: This has been a Lilypad production.
