- 0:49Speaker 2: by Chris Hmer. Andrew. Great to see it, first of all,
- 0:52Speaker 2: great to be with you. Adam. We're back here. It
- 0:54Speaker 2: is week eighteen. I don't know how it got here,
- 0:56Speaker 2: but it's here, so Andrew and we'll get to the
- 1:02Speaker 2: big game. Obviously, in terms of seating, we'll talk about that,
- 1:04Speaker 2: but everyone's fixated on the offense and what happened in
- 1:07Speaker 2: the second half. We're going to get to that. But
- 1:09Speaker 2: let's take your overview of what happened in Buffalo. Really,
- 1:14Speaker 2: I mean, if you're an Eagles fan, your nails are
- 1:16Speaker 2: probably gone. It was a nail buttter, but somehow they won.
- 1:19Speaker 2: What's your overview? Gives your overview to start the show.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Yeah, so the defense was lights out, you know, to
- 1:24Speaker 3: be able to hold a Buffalo Bill's team that, Yes,
- 1:27Speaker 3: they're devoid of a lot of offensive weapons, but when
- 1:29Speaker 3: you have James Cook and you have Josh Allen, you're
- 1:32Speaker 3: always going to be a threat to score points. And
- 1:33Speaker 3: I thought the Eagles, especially their pass rush, did a
- 1:36Speaker 3: really nice job getting home rattling Josh Allen, who obviously
- 1:39Speaker 3: wasn't as mobile as he ordinarily is with the foot injury.
- 1:42Speaker 3: The offense, I thought Jayalen Hurts early in that game,
- 1:45Speaker 3: made some big time throws into tight windows and had
- 1:48Speaker 3: the offense on schedule. They weren't playing from behind the sticks.
- 1:51Speaker 3: And then in the second half it was a stark contrast.
- 1:54Speaker 3: You didn't see that the same fluidity. They weren't able
- 1:57Speaker 3: to string together any semblance of offense, and they were
- 2:02Speaker 3: fortunate that the Eagles defense was able to hold them off.
- 2:05Speaker 3: But I think the defense proved once again. You can
- 2:09Speaker 3: say it was the Raiders. You could say, you know,
- 2:11Speaker 3: look at different points of the season. But they are
- 2:13Speaker 3: absolutely legitimate and I view that as an.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Elite defense right right now, knowing no defense by every metric,
- 2:19Speaker 2: yards per play, yards per game, scoring, everything you look at.
- 2:25Speaker 2: It's phenomenal. And yes, they've played some creampuff teams right sure,
- 2:29Speaker 2: Washingt two weeks ago, the Raiders, but they also did
- 2:32Speaker 2: very well against the Chargers. Okay, very well against the Church. Yes,
- 2:35Speaker 2: justin Herbert surprisingly was able to beat them by running
- 2:39Speaker 2: the football. You wouldn't think that he hasn't really been
- 2:41Speaker 2: a runner since Argon. But again, this game in Buffalo,
- 2:47Speaker 2: and the interesting thing is, and I Andrew, this surprised me.
- 2:50Speaker 2: I didn't see this coming. I know you can throw
- 2:52Speaker 2: in the rain when it's not windy, but Hurtz dropped
- 2:55Speaker 2: back twenty times like twenty pass attempts did without a
- 2:59Speaker 2: surprise to you.
- 3:00Speaker 4: Yeah, it was.
- 3:01Speaker 3: And actually, to add to your point about the defense
- 3:03Speaker 3: really quickly at him. Also against the Packers and the
- 3:06Speaker 3: Lions they showed up as well. Yes, it was windy
- 3:08Speaker 3: and the conditions probably played a part in it, but
- 3:11Speaker 3: it's not a mirage that this unit is for real.
- 3:13Speaker 3: And I think they're always getting better the more they're
- 3:15Speaker 3: playing with each other and Vic Fangio getting a sense
- 3:18Speaker 3: of his personnel and how to best utilize them. But yes,
- 3:21Speaker 3: I was surprised that the Hurts dropped back twenty times
- 3:25Speaker 3: in that game.
- 3:26Speaker 2: No, they had some success. There's no question they were
- 3:28Speaker 2: able to move the football. The four and outs though,
- 3:31Speaker 2: excuse me, three and outs they're a problem. Saw a
- 3:34Speaker 2: lot of them the second half. It was dreadful Eagles
- 3:37Speaker 2: to the worst. They're the rank thirty second and four
- 3:39Speaker 2: and outs. That's not good. Three and outs. Excuse me.
- 3:42Speaker 2: They get up one two, three point one, two, three
- 3:44Speaker 2: point You don't want that. That's embarrassing. But offensively it's
- 3:48Speaker 2: interesting they but it was like throw the football mix
- 3:51Speaker 2: the run in Barkley had fifty one yards, which is
- 3:53Speaker 2: a good half hurts it over one hundred yards now
- 3:55Speaker 2: one hundred and eleven. But Andrew, let's not forget there
- 3:58Speaker 2: was a drop. There was a penalty that would have
- 4:00Speaker 2: maybe been a touchdown. So I thought I was pretty
- 4:05Speaker 2: because I remember doing a halftime Patreon chat. I'm like, wow,
- 4:07Speaker 2: they look really good offensively. And then Andrew, we're gonna
- 4:12Speaker 2: take it from there and we'll get to the defense.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Because I want to talk a lot more about the day. Yeah, sure,
- 4:15Speaker 2: but we're gonna finish this off here second half. Andrew,
- 4:18Speaker 2: what were your thoughts overall, just as an overview of
- 4:21Speaker 2: their their their philosophy of what they did, how they
- 4:24Speaker 2: did it. What do you think of that ye.
- 4:25Speaker 3: Had too many negative plays, Ma's missed assignments. I didn't
- 4:29Speaker 3: think that was blocked up particularly well up front, and
- 4:32Speaker 3: Saquon Barkley was not able to generate much. I think
- 4:34Speaker 3: he finished the game with three point nine yards on average,
- 4:39Speaker 3: and that's a that's a bottom tier running rush defense
- 4:42Speaker 3: that they were going up against, and they weren't.
- 4:43Speaker 4: Able to capitalize six actually three Wow.
- 4:46Speaker 3: And when you look at that, it just seemed like
- 4:49Speaker 3: they were running into stack boxes and they didn't have
- 4:52Speaker 3: any rhyme or reason. There wasn't like you look at
- 4:55Speaker 3: the sequencing and I think there's a there's a.
- 4:56Speaker 4: Lot of reason to question that.
- 4:58Speaker 3: It didn't seem like the players were being put into
- 5:00Speaker 3: optimal positions to be successful.
- 5:02Speaker 2: The thing that surprised me, Andrew, off of what you said,
- 5:04Speaker 2: was so the first half and they're really good out
- 5:08Speaker 2: of no huddle, particularly empty with five eligibles. Their success
- 5:15Speaker 2: rate is extremely high. Okay, they did well against buff
- 5:18Speaker 2: on the first half. For whatever reason, they stopped doing
- 5:22Speaker 2: it and you talked about it. They would just run
- 5:24Speaker 2: it right up the middle. We know all you're watching this.
- 5:26Speaker 2: They don't block well up the middle. I understand you
- 5:29Speaker 2: can't run every playout set. I get that, but I
- 5:32Speaker 2: always say, when it's not working, to try something else.
- 5:35Speaker 2: And it was like running against a brick wall. I mean,
- 5:37Speaker 2: Hertz had zero the second game of season, hit zero.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Art's passing. How does it happen?
- 5:42Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 5:44Speaker 3: I mean it really is a prevailing theme that we've
- 5:48Speaker 3: seen all year where they're not able to put together
- 5:50Speaker 3: four complete quarters. There are so many inconsistencies, the lack
- 5:54Speaker 3: of sequencing and the innate feel for the game and
- 5:58Speaker 3: then the two that's.
- 5:59Speaker 2: A good point. I like that phrase.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Just the overall executional lapses that you see and their
- 6:05Speaker 3: inability to lean into their philosophical approach of running the football.
- 6:10Speaker 3: I mean, you look at all that, and that sort
- 6:12Speaker 3: of makes up the stew as to why the offense
- 6:14Speaker 3: has not played up to the standard that they set
- 6:16Speaker 3: for themselves or.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Andrew honestly, when it's working again, first half, spreading it
- 6:23Speaker 2: out a little bit too many close formations of the
- 6:25Speaker 2: second half. It look really it's probably the worst half
- 6:29Speaker 2: that I've seen them not only perform, but from a
- 6:32Speaker 2: schematic standpoint in years. Yeah. Now, Now, the shame of
- 6:35Speaker 2: it is since the bye, the passing game maget better
- 6:38Speaker 2: and better and better. Hurts has been better and better
- 6:40Speaker 2: and better effecting me. That throw that he made to
- 6:42Speaker 2: DeVante Smith is I think is the best for his career.
- 6:44Speaker 4: Oh yeah, right in the tight window.
- 6:46Speaker 2: You could see it actually on the egos social because
- 6:48Speaker 2: they I don't know how they got it. It's not ultimately,
- 6:50Speaker 2: it's they got some other because I know that all
- 6:53Speaker 2: teams have their own people who come and film the
- 6:56Speaker 2: game that view. Because I remember watching it on TV.
- 6:59Speaker 2: I'm like, wait a minute, what did he just do?
- 7:01Speaker 2: And then they showed the replay, I'm like, there was
- 7:03Speaker 2: no window. How did he do it?
- 7:04Speaker 4: That was an insane throat really talk about threading the needle.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Yeah, so I like it. See that's the thing about this.
- 7:09Speaker 2: All through this, all Hurts has been better. He's thrown
- 7:14Speaker 2: the ball better. We've talked about it. Pull the pin,
- 7:16Speaker 2: be more aggressive, don't be risk averse. But it's the coordinator,
- 7:19Speaker 2: Kevin Batulo, was risk risk averse after being very aggressive
- 7:22Speaker 2: save two plays in the first half which were they're
- 7:26Speaker 2: called safe plays. The third eight run to Shipley was
- 7:29Speaker 2: was a safe play and then pass out to the flat.
- 7:32Speaker 2: I mean, if you, yeah, if you want to call
- 7:34Speaker 2: out a screen, it did. It may have looked like one,
- 7:36Speaker 2: but it was so poorly formed. This looked really bad.
- 7:39Speaker 2: On another play, I think the coaches call a safe
- 7:42Speaker 2: flag because I've asked this question before. The coaches, No,
- 7:44Speaker 2: they hate give up the They hate that unless it's
- 7:46Speaker 2: like the last play of the half when you're when
- 7:49Speaker 2: when you're just gonna run it up the middle because
- 7:50Speaker 2: you want the coloctor right now. But I totally agree
- 7:52Speaker 2: with you so offensively, Look, they have to get the
- 7:55Speaker 2: mojo back. On your point, if you want to call
- 7:59Speaker 2: a four quarter game, call a four quarter game, do
- 8:02Speaker 2: what you did in the first half. And it's one thing.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Jeff said this on Jeff Buscher said this on a
- 8:06Speaker 2: post game show. You know, it's one thing if you're
- 8:08Speaker 2: up by four touchdowns, but you're up thirteen to nothing
- 8:11Speaker 2: against maybe the best backup, best come from behind quarterback
- 8:14Speaker 2: of the National Football What are you doing That's another
- 8:16Speaker 2: problem I had.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Yeah, and for anyone expecting a magic formula here that
- 8:20Speaker 3: this is going to be their offense, give or take,
- 8:23Speaker 3: it's not going to look probably won't look as bad
- 8:25Speaker 3: as it did in Buffalo.
- 8:27Speaker 4: But we've just seen seventeen weeks of this. This this
- 8:30Speaker 4: is their offense.
- 8:31Speaker 3: And I think it's also important to note that this
- 8:34Speaker 3: is the vision of Nick Sirianni and how he wants
- 8:37Speaker 3: this offense to look. Protect the football. You've seen their
- 8:41Speaker 3: record where it is, you know, when they protect the
- 8:43Speaker 3: football and when they you know, versus when they give
- 8:45Speaker 3: it away and they're leaning too much, too heavily on
- 8:50Speaker 3: their defense to sort of bail them out while they
- 8:53Speaker 3: build up a small lead and then they sort of
- 8:54Speaker 3: preserve it. That's the way that I view it personally,
- 8:58Speaker 3: as i've seen it throughout the season. It's sort of
- 8:59Speaker 3: a a conservative approach once they get once they reach
- 9:02Speaker 3: a certain point too much, so I think it's to
- 9:04Speaker 3: their detriment.
- 9:05Speaker 2: And you're listening and watching the Pro Football Report presented
- 9:08Speaker 2: by BCWSA on fourteen ninety WBCB one of seven three
- 9:13Speaker 2: FM and also seen live with WBCB sports dot Com.
- 9:16Speaker 2: So it's Adam Kaplan and Andrew de Checko from Inside
- 9:19Speaker 2: the Birds. And Andrew the thing about this team, you
- 9:22Speaker 2: just talked about defense, because I could literally talk about
- 9:24Speaker 2: this the whole show. We have to talk about other
- 9:26Speaker 2: things here. It's just remarkable what they're doing here. It's
- 9:31Speaker 2: Jaylex Hunt. I felt it would take him three or
- 9:34Speaker 2: four years to be what he is right now, because
- 9:36Speaker 2: you know it. I mean, the guy played edge two
- 9:38Speaker 2: years in college. He's safety for Katy, had that crazy
- 9:43Speaker 2: growth for at nineteen years old, and you know he
- 9:45Speaker 2: grew three inches. He's somewhere around six three and a
- 9:48Speaker 2: half long, arms, explosive, He's become like he's grown so much.
- 9:54Speaker 2: I mean, Noldsmith in his limited roles doing well, but
- 9:57Speaker 2: right now, how could you go over? How could Noltswi play?
- 10:00Speaker 2: You can't.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Yeah, Jay Oaks has performed better than No one Jay
- 10:04Speaker 3: Oaks Hunt has. He leads the Eagles with quarterback hits.
- 10:08Speaker 3: I think he has twenty three. He has two interceptions
- 10:10Speaker 3: as well. But when you really look at what he's
- 10:12Speaker 3: doing rushing the quarterback, it's not only that it's setting
- 10:15Speaker 3: the edge with violence, and I think you're able to
- 10:19Speaker 3: see from watching his pass rush technique that he.
- 10:21Speaker 4: Has a lot more varied approach this year.
- 10:23Speaker 3: There's a lot more tools in his toolbox and he's
- 10:26Speaker 3: playing with a lot of confidence. He also looks a
- 10:28Speaker 3: lot bigger physically this year than he did compared to
- 10:31Speaker 3: last year, and he's sort of flying around and making
- 10:34Speaker 3: a lot of plays. And we also should highlight Jalen Phillips.
- 10:36Speaker 2: That's the other guy I want to get to fifty. Help,
- 10:38Speaker 2: it's going to get to him.
- 10:39Speaker 4: Yeah, he is.
- 10:40Speaker 2: He's a man. You want to talk about setting the edge,
- 10:42Speaker 2: watch him. Setting the edge means you know, you're playing
- 10:46Speaker 2: your side to force the run inside. It's a force defender.
- 10:50Speaker 2: He's phenomenal because he's so long, good pass rush, relentless
- 10:54Speaker 2: and thankfully that and we'll see if he's leaving listed
- 10:56Speaker 2: on the inter report tomorrow. The practice week is Wednesday, Thursday, Friday,
- 11:00Speaker 2: walk through, Saturday games Sunday afternoon for twenty five. But
- 11:03Speaker 2: because what he got when he when he limped off
- 11:05Speaker 2: and I was like wow, Then they showed him he
- 11:08Speaker 2: was popping his fist with the helmet and a Sanda lug.
- 11:10Speaker 2: He must be fine, But yeah's he doing?
- 11:12Speaker 4: I saw that?
- 11:13Speaker 2: But I mean this trade is he's this trade has
- 11:15Speaker 2: worked out pretty well. He's been way better than expected. Yeah.
- 11:18Speaker 3: Nakobe Dean when initially asked about Jay when Phillips when
- 11:21Speaker 3: he first arrived, he said, I love edges who set
- 11:24Speaker 3: edges and he said, that's what Jayalhen Phillips did and
- 11:28Speaker 3: he continues to do.
- 11:29Speaker 4: You see the length of the.
- 11:30Speaker 3: Athleticism, the physicality, He's really embraced what it means to
- 11:33Speaker 3: be on a winning team amongst you know, a close
- 11:36Speaker 3: knick group of players. He's never won a division before
- 11:39Speaker 3: and he knows what's in front of them, So I
- 11:41Speaker 3: think he's really just embraced this opportunity here. And I
- 11:44Speaker 3: think he's played the most snaps that he has as
- 11:47Speaker 3: an Eagle, just on on Sunday against the Bill.
- 11:50Speaker 4: So he's really responded well to Vic Vangeo's coaching.
- 11:53Speaker 3: Obviously they had prior background together in twenty twenty three,
- 11:56Speaker 3: but I don't know that that too much can be
- 11:59Speaker 3: made off of that trade, and he's made a remarkable impact.
- 12:03Speaker 3: Then his presence has also helped Jay Looks.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Hunt and Nolan Smith, I mean the left that they
- 12:09Speaker 2: have in the athleticism. And then I got a couple
- 12:12Speaker 2: of things here, because we got to stay on the
- 12:13Speaker 2: offensive to the defensive line before we take a first break.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Jordan Davis continues to do it. I mean their job
- 12:18Speaker 2: they did against James Cook. I was stunned. James Cook
- 12:24Speaker 2: is one of the best. He's he's better than his
- 12:25Speaker 2: brother Dalvin. They shut him down. I know he got
- 12:27Speaker 2: some yards late to bump it up to seventy yards.
- 12:30Speaker 2: But Jordan Davis, I don't know what else to say
- 12:33Speaker 2: about this guy because I never saw first years he
- 12:35Speaker 2: was a bust. Okay, late last season it came on.
- 12:38Speaker 2: But right now, Andrew, we're you out with with Jordan Davis.
- 12:41Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 12:41Speaker 3: Well, to put James Cook's afternoon into perspective, he was
- 12:46Speaker 3: averaging one hundred and two yards per game and fire
- 12:49Speaker 3: five point three yards per carry. The Eagles held him
- 12:52Speaker 3: to seventy four yards and three point seven yards per carry.
- 12:56Speaker 3: So great job there. But to your question at him,
- 12:58Speaker 3: Jordan Davis, what can you say about him? He's he
- 13:02Speaker 3: has four and a half sacks this season. I wish
- 13:05Speaker 3: that there was a number to really showcase how many
- 13:08Speaker 3: times he stopped running backs for no game, literally at
- 13:11Speaker 3: the line of scrimmage and just his ability to be
- 13:16Speaker 3: in top condition play. He's he's completely surpassed his snapshare
- 13:21Speaker 3: from last I'm just.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Gonna get to that because and when he's playing for
- 13:25Speaker 2: sixty percent, he paid sixty percent, tells he's playing nickel.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Go ahead, right.
- 13:28Speaker 3: And and then on top of all that, he's grown
- 13:30Speaker 3: into a leader. And when you talk about vibes and
- 13:35Speaker 3: locker room culture, I think a lot of that is
- 13:37Speaker 3: derived from Jordan Davis. You're not gonna have a bad
- 13:40Speaker 3: day if you're around Jordan Davis. He brings the energy
- 13:43Speaker 3: and he keeps everybody around him, you know, upbeat and positive.
- 13:46Speaker 3: So that that's another aspect to his leadership off the field.
- 13:50Speaker 2: All right, everyone, before we take this quick break, when
- 13:54Speaker 2: let everyone know we're here at Chicken Pets on Versabel Boulevard.
- 13:57Speaker 2: It's Adam Kaplan Andrew de Checko from inside the Birds.
- 13:59Speaker 2: And after we come back from our first break here,
- 14:02Speaker 2: we're can go over the entry report a little bit
- 14:04Speaker 2: more on last week's game and what to expect against Washington.
- 14:07Speaker 2: You're listened to the Pro Football Report presented by BCWSA

- 16:46Speaker 1: Once again, here are your hosts from Inside the Birds,
- 16:50Speaker 1: Adam Kaplan and Andrew didcheck O.
- 16:53Speaker 2: All right, everyone, I'll come back to the Pro Football
- 16:56Speaker 2: Report presented by BCWSA. It's Adam Kaplan and Andrew Chucko
- 17:03Speaker 2: from Inside the Birds were also on fourteen ninety WBCB
- 17:05Speaker 2: and one of seven three FM, and also seen live
- 17:07Speaker 2: at wbcbsports dot com. We're here till seven. Andrew, it's
- 17:12Speaker 2: time now for this week's injury review, brought to you
- 17:15Speaker 2: by the attorneys at Begley, Carlin and Mandio. Contact them
- 17:19Speaker 2: today for free consultation at two one five AO six
- 17:22Speaker 2: three six eight nine. That's two one five at six
- 17:25Speaker 2: three six eight nine. All right, The big one is
- 17:29Speaker 2: Andrew Lane Johnson with the list franc spraying. See this
- 17:33Speaker 2: doesn't come down to this. We know the Eagles if
- 17:36Speaker 2: they win in Chicago loses the second seed. Like two
- 17:39Speaker 2: weeks ago, no one was talking about this because the
- 17:41Speaker 2: scenarios were ridiculously tough. I know, I know that they
- 17:46Speaker 2: want to be careful with Laye here. I'd be shocked
- 17:49Speaker 2: if he played.
- 17:50Speaker 4: Yeah, I would be floored if you play that he's not.
- 17:53Speaker 3: I think it's it's a pretty safe assumption that he wouldn't,
- 17:58Speaker 3: just given the nature of the injury, and you want
- 18:01Speaker 3: to make sure he's as close to one hundred percent
- 18:04Speaker 3: as possible. Now, it's an interesting conundrum here for the Eagles.
- 18:08Speaker 3: Do you play your starters?
- 18:10Speaker 4: Do you not? For if it were me, I mean,
- 18:13Speaker 4: first of all, this isn't it.
- 18:14Speaker 3: You don't have a ninety man training camp cross some
- 18:17Speaker 3: starters are gonna have to play. It would make sense
- 18:19Speaker 3: for those like Tyler Steen and Fred Johnson. But if
- 18:22Speaker 3: you're talking about Saquon, Jalen Hurts, AJ Brown, Devonte Smith,
- 18:26Speaker 3: Zach Bond, Jay when Carter, I'm not playing any of
- 18:28Speaker 3: those players.
- 18:29Speaker 2: So correctly, if I'm wrong. Did Aj Brown not get
- 18:32Speaker 2: hurt in that Giant game two years ago?
- 18:34Speaker 3: He did get hurt and they and you saw how
- 18:36Speaker 3: well they pulled everybody.
- 18:37Speaker 2: Yeah, and you saw how bad it was against the
- 18:39Speaker 2: Bucks in the playoffs. Yeah, you don't want that again,
- 18:41Speaker 2: so I I know that they Basically the way it
- 18:45Speaker 2: works is this is the day they decided it should
- 18:48Speaker 2: be today, and then they tell the players typically what's
- 18:51Speaker 2: going to happen as a week progresses and they come
- 18:53Speaker 2: to work tomorrow. So the other entries, now Britain Covey,
- 18:57Speaker 2: see I slow that thing down. You know, I'm watching
- 18:59Speaker 2: the game. I'm like, oh no, I hope it's not.
- 19:01Speaker 2: It looked terrible.
- 19:01Speaker 4: That's what I said.
- 19:02Speaker 2: As soon as it happened. I said, oh no, and
- 19:03Speaker 2: then I slowed it down. I'm like, you know what,
- 19:05Speaker 2: I think it's this quad or his thigh. We'll see
- 19:06Speaker 2: if he's even listed. But you know, he was fine.
- 19:09Speaker 2: So the the good return that he had he was
- 19:12Speaker 2: he was like, yeah, I'm like, he's fine, he's fine
- 19:14Speaker 2: because he wouldn't first, we wouldn't be able to come
- 19:16Speaker 2: back and play. It's just kind of funny because it
- 19:19Speaker 2: first half, a couple of guys went down. Then the
- 19:21Speaker 2: big one to me it was worrisome was Jalen Phillips.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Since it's left foot or ankle. Now you saw him
- 19:27Speaker 2: on the sideline for a little bit. Then it came
- 19:29Speaker 2: back and never took came out again. Yeah, we'll even
- 19:31Speaker 2: see if he's listed, But you know, that's terf ball.
- 19:35Speaker 3: He's another guy that I would not play with this week.
- 19:38Speaker 3: And by the way, he's never he hasn't had a bye.
- 19:41Speaker 4: Week yet this season.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Was that right?
- 19:43Speaker 4: Yes, because he came over at the trade.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Yeah, good nugget there.
- 19:45Speaker 3: I do not know that that's somebody that I definitely
- 19:48Speaker 3: wouldn't play in this one either. And we should also
- 19:50Speaker 3: mention that Cameron Latsu, who had this stinger going into
- 19:53Speaker 3: this game. He didn't play last week, but if he noticed,
- 19:55Speaker 3: he was wearing a cowboy cow for his.
- 19:58Speaker 2: He played this well. He played he he played this
- 20:01Speaker 2: past gaming, but he had he had some point hitting
- 20:04Speaker 2: that color on. Yeah, I'll tell you what, Bradon Man,
- 20:07Speaker 2: that that punt was. He was just he's he's elite
- 20:12Speaker 2: and that and lot to look. I know, he's been great.
- 20:15Speaker 2: You gotta be careful. You got to know where you
- 20:16Speaker 2: are because that that point would have put him on
- 20:18Speaker 2: the one inch Locke.
- 20:19Speaker 4: Yeah, that's that's tough. One's great and.
- 20:21Speaker 2: What are you gonna do there? Their special teams are
- 20:23Speaker 2: getting better now, Washington. It's it's really funny. Andrew. They
- 20:28Speaker 2: played them two weeks ago. The same guys are out, okay.
- 20:31Speaker 2: Jane Daniels will practice but will not play. He goes
- 20:33Speaker 2: out for the season. Torn Achilles Luke McCaffrey broke his
- 20:36Speaker 2: collar bone. He won't be back. Zach Art's our buddy
- 20:39Speaker 2: towards right a cl He's out now. This was new
- 20:42Speaker 2: from last week in terms of not playing. Laramie Tunseel,
- 20:45Speaker 2: their left tackle has an oblique strain. Those side injuries
- 20:48Speaker 2: are tough to baseball pitchers in baseball out six eight
- 20:51Speaker 2: weeks with this injury. It's hard to play with Brandon Coleman,
- 20:54Speaker 2: who started last year. The Commanders learned Andrew He's not
- 20:57Speaker 2: a left tackle. He's too short. He's a better right
- 21:00Speaker 2: tackle guard. He's filling in. Their two ends are out
- 21:03Speaker 2: for the season. Dietrich Wise right quadriceps tear. That that's
- 21:06Speaker 2: a nine month rehab, and George Armstrong the other one
- 21:11Speaker 2: towards a c L. That's why I mean we talk
- 21:13Speaker 2: about Jacob Martin. You were in two weeks ago. We're
- 21:14Speaker 2: talk abou Jacob Martin. Yeah, he has to start. He
- 21:17Speaker 2: was really good like eight years ago. Uh Marshawn Lattimore's
- 21:21Speaker 2: out a C. L. Tree amos. I know you talked
- 21:23Speaker 2: about him for the draft, broke an ankle. They're so
- 21:26Speaker 2: beat up. Now, here's one thing. And I know I
- 21:29Speaker 2: know that Vic Fangio was and you will talk about
- 21:32Speaker 2: the press conferences later, but Vic was asked about it.
- 21:35Speaker 2: You know, dan Quinn was asked about, you know, the
- 21:37Speaker 2: Eagles going for for for two points right two weeks ago,
- 21:42Speaker 2: and he's like, well, we'll see them in two weeks. Now.
- 21:45Speaker 2: You could read that a bunch of ways. What you're
- 21:47Speaker 2: gonna do, tru dan Quinn is not a guy who
- 21:50Speaker 2: does something dirty. He's just he wouldn't do that. Well,
- 21:52Speaker 2: he wouldn't, but you can you kid the players right,
- 21:54Speaker 2: he wouldn't tell him to do anything. But that that not
- 21:58Speaker 2: that that should be determinant of whether you rest your
- 22:01Speaker 2: players or not, but it just puts another thing on
- 22:04Speaker 2: the stack of rest versus playing.
- 22:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean that that's another factor. Washington Philadelphia games.
- 22:12Speaker 4: Have historically been pretty chick frank thank you.
- 22:15Speaker 3: Yeah, you have Frankie Louvo and you have a lot
- 22:18Speaker 3: of younger players who imagine gonna be playing in that
- 22:20Speaker 3: game for Washington that are trying to make their mark,
- 22:22Speaker 3: and yeah, I mean, I just don't think that there's
- 22:25Speaker 3: a whole lot to gain out of it. Plus, I
- 22:28Speaker 3: mean I believe that the Eagles second and third teamers
- 22:32Speaker 3: could play with Washington and beat them.
- 22:34Speaker 4: They're going against Josh Johnson.
- 22:36Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I think all that, you take all
- 22:38Speaker 3: that into consideration. It's not an easy decision, but it
- 22:41Speaker 3: should be when it comes to resting players like Jordan
- 22:43Speaker 3: Malatta and some of those guys that have been banged
- 22:46Speaker 3: up throughout the season.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Yeah, Jenkins is how many? How many is the use
- 22:50Speaker 2: of his three elevations? You know? Two two okay?
- 22:52Speaker 4: And three for Andre Sam, two for Brandon Johnson.
- 22:55Speaker 2: I know Sam was done. I know that. And Brandon
- 22:57Speaker 2: Johnson is a guy that is it. Don Jeftter free
- 22:59Speaker 2: agent out of our to the crustrant of training camp.
- 23:01Speaker 2: But I remember seeing it. It's like, oh wow, he's
- 23:03Speaker 2: a line of it's safety. It's interesting, and they like
- 23:05Speaker 2: that he's built like a nickel. Yeah, he's built like
- 23:06Speaker 2: a nickel. So so it's going to be interesting to
- 23:09Speaker 2: see what they do because, as we just talked about,
- 23:12Speaker 2: you got to have your start for the playoffs. Any
- 23:14Speaker 2: chance they have to make another run. And I'm going
- 23:16Speaker 2: to say it again. We could talk all we want about. Okay,
- 23:19Speaker 2: the offense, they cannot play a full game. That's fine,
- 23:21Speaker 2: it's the truth. But there are no dominant teams in
- 23:24Speaker 2: National FOOTBA League this year because they are absolutely capable
- 23:28Speaker 2: of make another run. We're not fans here. We call
- 23:31Speaker 2: it down the middle, sure, but no one is much
- 23:33Speaker 2: better than anyone this season in the National FOOTBA League.
- 23:35Speaker 2: That's the way it is.
- 23:36Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:37Speaker 3: I mean, I think even if you zoom out and
- 23:39Speaker 3: look just at the NFC, all those teams have imperfections.
- 23:42Speaker 3: And we're not sitting here saying the Egles don't, because
- 23:45Speaker 3: they certainly do. But I think all things being equal,
- 23:47Speaker 3: at them, you show a little deference to a team
- 23:50Speaker 3: that has demonstrated performance in the postseason, that know what
- 23:53Speaker 3: to expect and you know they're not going to enter
- 23:55Speaker 3: it wide eyed versus someone like a Sam Darnold or
- 23:59Speaker 3: Matt Lafleur, who the Eagles have fared well against the
- 24:01Speaker 3: word Caleb Williams and a young Chicago Bears team. I
- 24:04Speaker 3: think you feel fairly well about the Eagles heading into
- 24:08Speaker 3: the postseason.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Because if you look at who the Eagles had inactive
- 24:11Speaker 2: last week. Okay, oh, we got to talk about Nikobe
- 24:12Speaker 2: Dan that's the next injury. So he's got a hamsterring strain.
- 24:16Speaker 2: Obviously he's not playing this week. No, those things you got,
- 24:21Speaker 2: you got to make sure that this thing is totally healed,
- 24:24Speaker 2: because what happens is the fluid builds up and they
- 24:26Speaker 2: higher it up. The higher up it is in your hamstring,
- 24:28Speaker 2: the worse it is. The lower it is, the less
- 24:31Speaker 2: you'll be away. So they got to get that ready.
- 24:34Speaker 2: And I know you've talked to josh ushe so he's
- 24:37Speaker 2: a guy this week now. He he played very well
- 24:40Speaker 2: before he's been weekly inactive. So when you when you're
- 24:42Speaker 2: in the locker room with him, I mean, what's this mindset? Yeah?
- 24:45Speaker 3: I love josh ushas he has a positive mindset. We
- 24:48Speaker 3: and him talked a lot about him working on his
- 24:50Speaker 3: power rush. And it was funny the week that we
- 24:53Speaker 3: were talking about the power rush, it was against the
- 24:55Speaker 3: Minnesota Vikings and he won and got his first sack
- 24:59Speaker 3: as an Eagle off of a power rush. So he's
- 25:01Speaker 3: kept a positive mindset and just kind of doing whatever
- 25:06Speaker 3: the team needs of him, going hard in practice and
- 25:08Speaker 3: waiting for his opportunity. Now he was on the kickoff team,
- 25:12Speaker 3: but he sort of gave way for other players and now,
- 25:16Speaker 3: and I mentioned this to someone when he was inactive.
- 25:19Speaker 3: I said, don't be surprised, Josh Usa is going to
- 25:21Speaker 3: get another sack before the season's over. But I was
- 25:23Speaker 3: looking at that week eighteen, I said, if nothing else.
- 25:27Speaker 2: That's probably what It's a good reason why no. Mac
- 25:30Speaker 2: McWilliams was active last week, did not play. It wouldn't
- 25:32Speaker 2: make sense for him to be the nickel this week.
- 25:34Speaker 2: If the starter's rest, let him be the nickel. Drew Kennell,
- 25:37Speaker 2: let him start at center or guard. He could play both,
- 25:39Speaker 2: but he's really built to play center.
- 25:41Speaker 4: They also have Michael Carter right who can do it.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Who was the way for a personal issue last week,
- 25:45Speaker 2: personal reasons, who was not with the team last week.
- 25:49Speaker 2: And then what you do is you could start Tanner McKee,
- 25:52Speaker 2: who was active obviously did not play. Hurts is taking
- 25:55Speaker 2: all the red, all the all the playing time. And
- 25:58Speaker 2: then Sam Howe is also a former commander. It is
- 26:02Speaker 2: funny that he's on this team. It's I still believe
- 26:05Speaker 2: that when McKee broke the finger, that's why they made
- 26:07Speaker 2: the trade. They didn't know he'd be back so soon,
- 26:09Speaker 2: because it was just kind of like, why are you're
- 26:11Speaker 2: adding a third string quarterback that had something to do
- 26:13Speaker 2: with it?
- 26:13Speaker 4: Maybe they're maybe they're looking down the line.
- 26:17Speaker 2: Uh well yeah, well uh, house on the last year
- 26:20Speaker 2: was rockid deal. I'm pretty certain of that is he
- 26:22Speaker 2: But but though if they if they liked him and
- 26:25Speaker 2: they traded McKee, it's a different reason.
- 26:27Speaker 4: So I mean maybe they're looking at sure with the
- 26:29Speaker 4: future now.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Aj Dillon healthy inactive last week. He's been a healthy
- 26:33Speaker 2: inactive pretty much the entire season.
- 26:36Speaker 4: Since October since he fumbled, uh in.
- 26:38Speaker 2: The license then, yeah, which is interesting. Look, you can't
- 26:40Speaker 2: afford backs active, so he could have a big role
- 26:43Speaker 2: on Sunday. Uh, other guys who could who could play
- 26:47Speaker 2: a lot? Now you know it's this is interesting when
- 26:48Speaker 2: we're talking about injuries and playing time because this week
- 26:50Speaker 2: gets kind of tied together. How much you think BG
- 26:53Speaker 2: would play on Sunday?
- 26:54Speaker 4: I think he would play a lot.
- 26:56Speaker 2: How many STAPs do you think? Take a guess or percentage?
- 26:58Speaker 4: Just give me percentage, say twenty to twenty to twenty.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Three, Okay, okay, Daris Cooper might start.
- 27:05Speaker 4: I think Darius Cooper would have it.
- 27:07Speaker 3: I think I think he would have He'd be a
- 27:09Speaker 3: player to watch if you're looking for someone on the
- 27:11Speaker 3: offensive side.
- 27:12Speaker 2: The guys who would probably play a lot would be
- 27:16Speaker 2: Sidney Brown, Jakorin Bennett. What a good opportunity to let
- 27:19Speaker 2: him start.
- 27:20Speaker 4: Get some good tape out there.
- 27:21Speaker 2: Exactly, Kamla our guy, Kim Latto a smile. Monding could
- 27:25Speaker 2: start because they start two inside backers. Brandon Johnson could
- 27:29Speaker 2: play nickel.
- 27:29Speaker 4: Or safety if they elevate him.
- 27:31Speaker 2: Yep, Brett Toath would start. He would absolutely start. Boring
- 27:35Speaker 2: Young would start. Kylon grantson Jenkins, As you said, is
- 27:40Speaker 2: one more elevation left, so they could make a decision
- 27:42Speaker 2: what who wants.
- 27:42Speaker 4: But they also have Calkatara.
- 27:44Speaker 2: But here's the thing. How much it also comes down
- 27:47Speaker 2: to how much twelve you're gonna play. Yeah, you gotta
- 27:49Speaker 2: have three. You gotta have at least two tight ends
- 27:51Speaker 2: up Calcutar somehow still the two over lat two.
- 27:54Speaker 4: It's beyond But but here's the issue.
- 27:55Speaker 3: Because they also have to elevate Charlie Hewett from the
- 27:58Speaker 3: practice squads.
- 27:58Speaker 4: They need a lot.
- 27:59Speaker 2: We shouldn't need to mention that he resigned that he
- 28:00Speaker 2: cleared waivers and resigned to the practice squat go ahead, yep.
- 28:03Speaker 3: So you start to look at it. They have Jake
- 28:05Speaker 3: Major's on the practice squad. Who's the center slash guard?
- 28:07Speaker 3: You have to elevate Charlie Hewlett. You might need another safety,
- 28:11Speaker 3: which Andre Sam's out of elevations. Brandon Johnson has one
- 28:15Speaker 3: more left. If you need another corner who can also
- 28:17Speaker 3: play safety.
- 28:18Speaker 4: It's really interesting.
- 28:20Speaker 2: So I came up with this on Inside the Birds.
- 28:23Speaker 2: We've come up with a lot of phrases. Jeff's just
- 28:26Speaker 2: the big one I love is two things can actually
- 28:28Speaker 2: be true because people think you came out it has
- 28:30Speaker 2: to be this or that. Yeah, there's no context. And
- 28:33Speaker 2: I came up with the roster tango twenty eighteen, twenty nineteen,
- 28:37Speaker 2: and then we did it like crazy with the COVID rules.
- 28:40Speaker 2: When they created this, there was no elevations. There was
- 28:43Speaker 2: no such thing, you know, like that they have now.
- 28:46Speaker 2: So they came up with all sorts of ways you
- 28:48Speaker 2: could bring a guy up so you don't have to
- 28:50Speaker 2: put him for waivers. So it's funny. And I've never
- 28:54Speaker 2: seen Howie be so aggressive with the practice squad that
- 28:58Speaker 2: God could be cut on money. He's back on Tuesday.
- 28:59Speaker 2: But why are you doing it like you could? Sometimes
- 29:01Speaker 2: you can't figure it out why he's doing it free? Hot?
- 29:04Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, maybe so you're trying to get some
- 29:06Speaker 3: guys paid for the week and things like that. But
- 29:10Speaker 3: I think it's it's interesting they have a a sort
- 29:13Speaker 3: of a network of players that they want to keep
- 29:15Speaker 3: within that practice squad that they like in value and
- 29:18Speaker 3: they want to continue to develop.
- 29:20Speaker 2: All right, That was our injury review brought to you

- 30:39Speaker 5: one and up.
- 30:41Speaker 1: Once again, here are your hosts from Inside the Birds,
- 30:45Speaker 1: Adam Kaplan and Andrew ditcheck O.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Alrighty, alrighty, everybody, you're listening to the Profilbubber Report, presented
- 30:52Speaker 2: by BCWSA on fourteen ninety WBCB and one O seven
- 30:57Speaker 2: three FM and also seen live at WBCB sports dot Com.
- 31:01Speaker 2: It's Adam Kaplan and Andrew de Checo from Inside the Birds.
- 31:04Speaker 2: It's time now for this week's Penworth Financial Keys of
- 31:07Speaker 2: the Game. The key to your financial future is Penworth
- 31:10Speaker 2: Financial call them today at two sixty seven nine ninety
- 31:13Speaker 2: seven four five oh three, or visit them at Penworth
- 31:16Speaker 2: dot com. All right, Andrew, So to me, no matter
- 31:19Speaker 2: who the quarterback is, and this game will be at
- 31:23Speaker 2: the link at four twenty five. I haven't look at
- 31:25Speaker 2: the weather yet, which is rare for me. I mean,
- 31:27Speaker 2: so what's the weather? I know I will look at
- 31:29Speaker 2: that in a second. But stay aggressive, Patullo, not for
- 31:33Speaker 2: quarter or two quarters, for the entire game. Don't take
- 31:36Speaker 2: the foot off the pedal. And to Syriani's credit, Andrew,
- 31:40Speaker 2: he didn't deny this was an issue, okay, because we
- 31:43Speaker 2: all saw it and the numbers bear it out. Was
- 31:45Speaker 2: terrible in the second half.
- 31:46Speaker 4: Oh yeah, and.
- 31:48Speaker 2: This is what I said earlier. The communication between he
- 31:49Speaker 2: and Patoo's got to be better during the game. But
- 31:51Speaker 2: to me, Andrew's stay aggressive.
- 31:53Speaker 4: Yeah, they have they have to stay aggressive. And I
- 31:55Speaker 4: think you want to see some of the younger players.
- 31:58Speaker 3: And where they are in terms of their development, and
- 32:00Speaker 3: that would be Tanner McKee, will Shipley, who we've had
- 32:03Speaker 3: on this show, Cameron Lotsu, Mac McWilliams, who's my rookie
- 32:07Speaker 3: diary subject this season, there's a lot of players that
- 32:10Speaker 3: I'm really looking forward to seeing play in this game
- 32:12Speaker 3: that have been putting in a lot of hard work
- 32:14Speaker 3: behind the scenes. But yes, Kevin Patula, stay aggressive, try
- 32:18Speaker 3: to I mean try to learn from some of the
- 32:21Speaker 3: shortcomings that have surfaced throughout the season and try to
- 32:24Speaker 3: get that rectify going into the postseason.
- 32:26Speaker 2: And what I want to see from from whoever's a quarterback,
- 32:28Speaker 2: if it hurts, what should be a surprise, you know what, man,
- 32:33Speaker 2: Let's put it this way. If the way a lot
- 32:35Speaker 2: of teams do it for they call it it's like
- 32:37Speaker 2: a it's like a preseason tune up. You get him in,
- 32:40Speaker 2: you get him out for a quarter, like if you're
- 32:41Speaker 2: going to play him, you don't play for more in
- 32:42Speaker 2: a quarter. But be aggressive whoever the quarterback is. If
- 32:46Speaker 2: it's m ckey, you know he's an aggressive thrower. But
- 32:49Speaker 2: Pattilla's got a call the playoff game, no matter who
- 32:52Speaker 2: he's got. Yeah, stay aggressive. The path protection it's mostly
- 32:57Speaker 2: been good this season. Know, the run blocking has been
- 33:00Speaker 2: downhill thumbs down, not very good. They got blown up
- 33:04Speaker 2: in the second half last week Andrew. Now, if it's
- 33:07Speaker 2: the backups who are playing even so, they've got to
- 33:11Speaker 2: be better like this. I'm still kind of an all
- 33:14Speaker 2: in a bad way. How bad this offensive line isn't
- 33:16Speaker 2: run blocking, It's just hard to believe.
- 33:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean this is as big of a game
- 33:20Speaker 3: for Kevin Pittulo as it is for those playing in
- 33:22Speaker 3: this one because you're able to kind of work on
- 33:25Speaker 3: your comfortability. You're sequencing without a ton of pressure. I
- 33:28Speaker 3: mean there's always pressure each and every week. I'm not
- 33:30Speaker 3: trying to dismiss that, but you're able to kind of
- 33:32Speaker 3: fine tune things from his perspective going into the postseason.
- 33:36Speaker 3: I mean that's the way that I'm doing it.
- 33:38Speaker 2: All right. Let's get to the defense. So if the
- 33:41Speaker 2: starters rest, who do you think who would this game
- 33:47Speaker 2: be big for? What would you look for to these
- 33:50Speaker 2: backups play? Who would you have your eye on? Because
- 33:52Speaker 2: there are a lot of them.
- 33:52Speaker 3: Yeah, so I'll give you some on both sides of
- 33:54Speaker 3: the ball. Tanner McKee, Will Shipley. I would say a
- 34:00Speaker 3: toath at center because I think he's done a really
- 34:02Speaker 3: nice job when his number has been called this season.
- 34:04Speaker 3: Drew Kendall for those who want to see a young
- 34:07Speaker 3: offensive lineman play, I know I've gotten a lot of
- 34:09Speaker 3: questions about him and why he hasn't gotten some opportunities,
- 34:12Speaker 3: So he would be a player to keep an eye
- 34:14Speaker 3: on there. Darius Cooper, the wide receiver, is someone who
- 34:17Speaker 3: I've had conversations with this season.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Rady.
- 34:19Speaker 4: I wrote a story about him.
- 34:20Speaker 3: On Inside the Birds dot Com about how he's really
- 34:23Speaker 3: taken to the blocking aspect of his job.
- 34:25Speaker 4: Then on the defensive side, I would say.
- 34:26Speaker 3: Mac McWilliams, the rookie corner who I've taught, I talk
- 34:29Speaker 3: with every week on Inside the Birds for my Rookie Diary.
- 34:34Speaker 4: I would I would also look at Smile.
- 34:35Speaker 3: Mondon and Jeremiah Trotter Junior as two players that I
- 34:38Speaker 3: think could have a pretty big week there at linebacker.
- 34:42Speaker 2: The guys that I'm looking for Istra Corn Bennett. Okay,
- 34:44Speaker 2: this is an opportunity to get him to start. I
- 34:47Speaker 2: know it's been a rough go for him. He had
- 34:49Speaker 2: the injury earlier this season, he had both shoulder problems
- 34:52Speaker 2: with the Raiders. It hasn't worked out at all like
- 34:55Speaker 2: they thought when they made the truth. Did you give
- 34:56Speaker 2: two draft picks for him or one?
- 34:57Speaker 4: I think it was just a one. I thought Thomas Hooker,
- 35:00Speaker 4: I thought it was just Thomas.
- 35:01Speaker 2: Just okay, I don't remember, but bottom line is they
- 35:04Speaker 2: gave Thomas Brooker.
- 35:05Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it was just a player for It's
- 35:07Speaker 4: funny because.
- 35:07Speaker 2: Earlier in the season, when Biroan Young wasn't playing, people
- 35:10Speaker 2: were like, man, I can't believe they gave a book
- 35:12Speaker 2: or he's starting for the Raiders, which is true. But
- 35:14Speaker 2: now nobody's talking about because Byron Young has been a start.
- 35:16Speaker 2: It's been a really good player.
- 35:17Speaker 4: Buhi has been a nice player.
- 35:19Speaker 3: And I think when we look back on this season,
- 35:21Speaker 3: those three games where Jayaln Carter wasn't there, Byron Young
- 35:24Speaker 3: had two and a half sacks, He played seventy four snaps,
- 35:27Speaker 3: he had three quarterback hits.
- 35:28Speaker 4: So I think he's been a nice piece of that
- 35:30Speaker 4: rotation and kind of.
- 35:31Speaker 3: Helped them ably navigate that time where they didn't have
- 35:34Speaker 3: Jalen Carter.
- 35:34Speaker 2: So I honest to see Mac mcwahams is really built
- 35:36Speaker 2: like a nickel who's an aggressive player. I'm interested to
- 35:41Speaker 2: see what he can do because he's another guy down
- 35:43Speaker 2: the road. Michael Carter's got an enormous contract for next year.
- 35:46Speaker 2: He would have to take a major paycock to come back.
- 35:48Speaker 2: I mean just barely's played. Yeah, they cross training at
- 35:52Speaker 2: safety and nickel, but I would like to I would
- 35:55Speaker 2: like to say, well, also Michael Carter for this game.
- 35:57Speaker 2: But I want to see mac mcgoys because you and
- 35:59Speaker 2: I saw this in training.
- 36:00Speaker 4: I'm excited. I'm excited he's had a.
- 36:01Speaker 2: Good training camp and whatever. We're not there a practice
- 36:04Speaker 2: in the regular season, So you don't play if they're
- 36:06Speaker 2: not happy with you where you look in practice, because
- 36:08Speaker 2: they watch the tape and if they're not happy, you
- 36:10Speaker 2: don't play.
- 36:10Speaker 4: Yeah, I think a lot of that has to do
- 36:12Speaker 4: with special teams.
- 36:13Speaker 3: He had an opportunity to be a gunner against the
- 36:16Speaker 3: Buccaneers that he didn't fare particularly well in that area,
- 36:19Speaker 3: and he has.
- 36:19Speaker 4: A slighter build. We've seen that in the past.
- 36:21Speaker 3: Eli Rix was a corner who didn't really factor in
- 36:24Speaker 3: on game day last season because he wasn't a factor
- 36:26Speaker 3: on special teams. And if you're a depth corner and
- 36:29Speaker 3: you're not helping them defensively, you have to be able
- 36:31Speaker 3: to help in the third phase.
- 36:32Speaker 2: Here's another guy, and this is a guy everyone their
- 36:35Speaker 2: mother was excited about in the spring when they draft
- 36:37Speaker 2: him to the fourth round out of Nebraska. It's Ty Robinson. Yeah, yeah,
- 36:41Speaker 2: he's had some good snaps, he's flashed a little bit,
- 36:43Speaker 2: but he barely plays. This is just a wonderful opportunity.
- 36:47Speaker 2: And they're gonna go against Washington starters if it goes
- 36:49Speaker 2: like we think it's going to go, and mostly backups
- 36:52Speaker 2: or the backups play the majority of the game. This
- 36:55Speaker 2: is a great opportunity for a guy like ty Robinson
- 36:57Speaker 2: who needs the reps. Who is you wouldn't call him
- 37:00Speaker 2: a project, but he was far behind. Greg O Selt
- 37:03Speaker 2: told us because he had asked us, Andrew, what did
- 37:06Speaker 2: we know about Ty Robinson? We said, you know, flashes,
- 37:09Speaker 2: but needs more workys, he needs way Because his preseason tape,
- 37:12Speaker 2: Greg said he's really far behind being ready to go.
- 37:15Speaker 2: And Greg liked his tape as well at college at Nebraska.
- 37:18Speaker 2: So this is a good opportunity here, Andrew for guys
- 37:22Speaker 2: to get out there. You call it, I mean, we
- 37:25Speaker 2: could call keys of the game because it is the
- 37:27Speaker 2: keys of the game. Is these guys that get playing.
- 37:28Speaker 4: Oh, and absolutely he is a key to the game.
- 37:30Speaker 3: Adham, You hit the nail on the head because they're
- 37:32Speaker 3: gonna need these guys at some point. And you want
- 37:35Speaker 3: to see what they're able to do beyond preseason going
- 37:37Speaker 3: up against NFL caliber players, starters, you know, in some
- 37:42Speaker 3: regards there for Washington, Ty Robinson's a player that I
- 37:45Speaker 3: really want to see and we talked about him earlier.
- 37:47Speaker 3: Josh Usha is another player you should be highlighting in
- 37:50Speaker 3: this game because he's had some bright moments. He's been
- 37:53Speaker 3: the fourth or fifth ed rusher, had a sack, had
- 37:56Speaker 3: another one against the Giants that was taken away off
- 37:59Speaker 3: the board there where he wards to fumble. He's hungry,
- 38:02Speaker 3: he's gonna want to put some good tape out there. Said,
- 38:04Speaker 3: that's somebody that you should be keeping an eye on.
- 38:06Speaker 2: And I'm going to get back to Tanner mckal I'll
- 38:08Speaker 2: tell you another reason why it's important. So twenty six
- 38:10Speaker 2: is the last year was contract, right, I felt all
- 38:13Speaker 2: along will not they will not trade unless to get
- 38:15Speaker 2: it first. There's there. They're gonna bet least a half
- 38:17Speaker 2: a dozen teams that need to start in quarterback. Okay,
- 38:20Speaker 2: this kid, you know it. I mean I remember when
- 38:23Speaker 2: Will Shipley was sitting in the seat you're in Okay,
- 38:25Speaker 2: when we interviewed him Eric right here at the Chickens
- 38:27Speaker 2: and Boulevard. I said tell us about Tanner. McKinney smiled.
- 38:31Speaker 2: He goes, you got to train a gip. You see
- 38:32Speaker 2: it to what we see in practice. And I know
- 38:34Speaker 2: what that meant, because the Mormon missile as Jordan. Yeah,
- 38:39Speaker 2: so get great tape, the Giants Tape's gonna get more
- 38:42Speaker 2: recent tape. Get good tape. He's not gonna play Bailey.
- 38:46Speaker 2: He's a quick processor, He's got a great arm. His
- 38:50Speaker 2: mobility Andrew is two years ago. I'm like, I thought
- 38:53Speaker 2: he was a statue. He moves better than you think.
- 38:56Speaker 4: Yeah, he moves a little bit better than I think
- 38:58Speaker 4: we all thought.
- 38:59Speaker 3: But he's far from Jaywen Hurts in that regard. But yes,
- 39:03Speaker 3: he has a quick trigger. He processes quickly. I would
- 39:05Speaker 3: expect the passing game to have a little bit of life,
- 39:08Speaker 3: depending on what the weather situation looks like. We don't
- 39:10Speaker 3: know yet, but I'm really interested to see what he's
- 39:13Speaker 3: able to do with his expanded opportunity.
- 39:15Speaker 2: Tell us about that Darvis Cooper piece that you did
- 39:17Speaker 2: for Inside the Birds dot Com.
- 39:18Speaker 4: Yeah, so with Darius.
- 39:19Speaker 3: One thing that I liked, I pride myself on is
- 39:22Speaker 3: taking stock of different things in the locker room. I
- 39:25Speaker 3: wrote a little thing in my notebook about Cameron Lattu
- 39:28Speaker 3: having different personalized handshakes with different teammates, whether it was
- 39:32Speaker 3: Jaywen Hurts, Grant Calcata, Keeley Ringo, and I asked different
- 39:36Speaker 3: players about the origins of that. So with Darius Cooper,
- 39:39Speaker 3: I noticed his blocking prowess, especially against the long run
- 39:43Speaker 3: that Saquon had in the Chargers game, and different things
- 39:45Speaker 3: like that being in on the push play where he
- 39:47Speaker 3: protects the edge. And this is a player who never
- 39:50Speaker 3: had to block anybody at Tarleton State because he was
- 39:52Speaker 3: their offense. So it's a whole different ballgame now when
- 39:56Speaker 3: you're asked to do that at the NFL level.
- 39:57Speaker 4: And I think he's responded well.
- 39:59Speaker 3: He credited pat Rick McDowell, who does some good things
- 40:02Speaker 3: behind the scenes in terms of player development.
- 40:04Speaker 4: He was a former scout Byron Young. Also, that's not
- 40:08Speaker 4: how much he helps them.
- 40:09Speaker 3: And if you watch Hard Knocks, if you pay attention
- 40:11Speaker 3: to the meeting rooms, the defensive line meeting rooms, he's
- 40:13Speaker 3: sitting in the front row. He credited him for helping
- 40:16Speaker 3: him with his development before and after practice, and then
- 40:19Speaker 3: now he says he doesn't have to do that as
- 40:20Speaker 3: much because he sort of has you know the base
- 40:22Speaker 3: level understanding.
- 40:23Speaker 2: Let's are Andrew de Checko from inside the Birds, Andrew Kip,
- 40:27Speaker 2: the people, what is your your's aide to CHECKO on
- 40:29Speaker 2: on on X Andrew and can't remember? Yeah, okay, I
- 40:34Speaker 2: used the whole name.
- 40:34Speaker 4: Do you really did? There's all we won.
- 40:37Speaker 3: I guess that's fun now because eventually that at one
- 40:39Speaker 3: time they had that handle already taken. And I guess
- 40:42Speaker 3: that the guy it was idle for so long and
- 40:44Speaker 3: then eventually he was available one day when I look
- 40:46Speaker 3: forward and now that I have.
- 40:46Speaker 2: It, who knew? Who knew?
- 40:48Speaker 7: You?
- 40:49Speaker 2: Listen to the Pro Football Report presented by BCW s A.
- 40:51Speaker 2: It's Adam Kaplan and Andrew check from inside the Birds
- 40:54Speaker 2: were at Chicky and Pete's on Roosevelt Boulevard. Were here
- 40:57Speaker 2: till seven and Andrew and we'll talk about this, uh
- 41:01Speaker 2: right after the break, because I want to get into that.
- 41:03Speaker 2: It's the pre we have the coordinators press conferences, which
- 41:06Speaker 2: is which is interesting because you know Patilo is going
- 41:08Speaker 2: to have to dress it. We'll talk about what he
- 41:10Speaker 2: talked about after this break. And Michael Clay, who's a
- 41:14Speaker 2: special teams coordinator, has done a really good job and
- 41:16Speaker 2: Vic Fangio, who One of the things I love about
- 41:18Speaker 2: Vick is most coaches rarely tell the truth like or
- 41:23Speaker 2: they give you a partial truth. Vic is the man.
- 41:27Speaker 4: He's a truth teller man.
- 41:28Speaker 2: You and I wonder that that not that they're not
- 41:31Speaker 2: that Howie or Jeffy could to tell them what to do,
- 41:33Speaker 2: but or anyone or or or of course Sirianni who
- 41:36Speaker 2: technically works for but you asked him a question, he answered,
- 41:40Speaker 2: you have you have you got any on with this year?
- 41:42Speaker 2: Do you? Asked? Is there anyone you ask more to
- 41:44Speaker 2: of the of the of the coaches.
- 41:46Speaker 3: Uh, Vic and Michael Clay okay, okay, yeah, especially in
- 41:50Speaker 3: training camp. You know, you always get a lot of
- 41:52Speaker 3: really good stuff about younger players, how they're coming along
- 41:55Speaker 3: and things like that.
- 41:56Speaker 4: But Vic's always very candid. You can get a lot
- 41:58Speaker 4: of questions.
- 41:59Speaker 3: I know a Vic Vanjaio press conference because he he
- 42:01Speaker 3: answers so succinctly and you're able to kind of move on.
- 42:04Speaker 2: Well, he does go quick, but sometimes he gives a
- 42:07Speaker 2: better detail. So, by the way, what is your process
- 42:10Speaker 2: this week? Because this is week eighteen, the last week
- 42:12Speaker 2: of the regular season, Eagles don't have a buye then
- 42:14Speaker 2: they'll be hosting a home game in the wildcard round.
- 42:17Speaker 2: What's your process? What do you got going on this week?
- 42:18Speaker 4: It's a great question.
- 42:19Speaker 3: So tomorrow the Eagles have a walk through, so that
- 42:23Speaker 3: won't be open to the media. Nick Sirianni speaks at
- 42:25Speaker 3: eleven twenty. But this is a week where you want
- 42:29Speaker 3: to try to you want to balance your coverage in
- 42:32Speaker 3: which you talk to some players who you believe are
- 42:35Speaker 3: going to be playing in this game, so you can
- 42:37Speaker 3: get you can talk to them a little bit more
- 42:39Speaker 3: and kind of peeled back layers of the onion for
- 42:41Speaker 3: what they've been doing with behind the scenes and how
- 42:43Speaker 3: they're approaching this week. And then you also want to
- 42:45Speaker 3: try to get a sense of looking ahead about some
- 42:49Speaker 3: of those some of those starters and how they're approaching
- 42:52Speaker 3: that postseason run. So that'll be Wednesday, Thursday, Friday when
- 42:56Speaker 3: they have open locker room.
- 42:57Speaker 2: And then of course, oh it's three days they've opened
- 42:58Speaker 2: locker room. Okay, okay, how long do you get in there?
- 43:00Speaker 4: For? Forty five minutes?
- 43:02Speaker 2: And it's is it fifteen it's about twenty minutes or
- 43:05Speaker 2: half an hour after practice is done or whatever they
- 43:07Speaker 2: do that, Yeah, yeah, you're.
- 43:09Speaker 4: Right, it's probably about fifteen twenty minutes after.
- 43:11Speaker 2: So the way it would work was when when Andy
- 43:14Speaker 2: Reid was here, when I was like the only one
- 43:16Speaker 2: who went to the Friday practice. See Andy for one
- 43:19Speaker 2: of the local reporters got to shut down because he
- 43:21Speaker 2: asked a player in the locker room about something he
- 43:24Speaker 2: saw in practice. But you're not allowed to do and
- 43:25Speaker 2: he said, you can go to the full practice, but
- 43:28Speaker 2: you can't report on anything you see. I was fine
- 43:30Speaker 2: with it, man. I love going to practice as you do.
- 43:32Speaker 4: Oh, I love it.
- 43:33Speaker 2: So they made an offensive line change. He goes and
- 43:37Speaker 2: I'm not going to say who it was. It's the
- 43:38Speaker 2: guy still covering the team maybe, but I just remember
- 43:43Speaker 2: when and when I guess dark boyko that the NPR
- 43:46Speaker 2: director told us we're done. You're done. You guys aren't
- 43:49Speaker 2: coming back in. You're not going to practice anymore other
- 43:51Speaker 2: then other than they only give back. Then it was
- 43:53Speaker 2: twenty minutes. It's the fifteen.
- 43:55Speaker 3: Now you get to watch, Well, it's about twenty five
- 43:57Speaker 3: on Thursday Wednesday, if it's a if it's a regular practice,
- 44:00Speaker 3: it's about five to seven minutes, or if it's a
- 44:03Speaker 3: walk through, none and then Friday's about five minutes, so.
- 44:06Speaker 2: Then we got cut down to twenty and I was
- 44:08Speaker 2: just heartbroken because I learned so much by going to practice.
- 44:11Speaker 2: Because yes, I had a running joke when McNabb would
- 44:16Speaker 2: struggle on the Friday practice, almost like clockwork, he would
- 44:19Speaker 2: struggle in the game. I don't know why on the
- 44:22Speaker 2: on the show that I do with John Hanson we
- 44:24Speaker 2: did for twenty years on Serio SIXEM because he would, Okay,
- 44:26Speaker 2: give me the McNabb barometer, and I couldn't talk about
- 44:30Speaker 2: what I saw now, Oh, but I could talk about
- 44:32Speaker 2: what it just I don't think he looked great. I
- 44:35Speaker 2: don't think he was acting. I was always It wasn't
- 44:37Speaker 2: always like that, but more often not if he had
- 44:39Speaker 2: a bad Friday practice, which is the last of the
- 44:41Speaker 2: week for a Friday game. And as you know, the
- 44:43Speaker 2: Friday practice is the shortest YEP Wednesday or Thursday. Every
- 44:48Speaker 2: team looks at it differently, but there's the install day
- 44:50Speaker 2: is Wednesday Thursday. Then you find you go over what
- 44:53Speaker 2: you just installed. Then Friday is the final tune, and
- 44:56Speaker 2: then you've got the Saturday walkthrough.
- 44:57Speaker 3: So I love practice. Man, if you really we pay attention,
- 45:00Speaker 3: you can get a lot of value. You can get
- 45:02Speaker 3: a lot of value even out of those ten to
- 45:04Speaker 3: fifteen minutes if you really pay attention to certain details
- 45:07Speaker 3: and what details would those be. Taking stock of who's
- 45:10Speaker 3: out there, if you see you know, whether it's a
- 45:13Speaker 3: player who's working off to the side with the trainer,
- 45:16Speaker 3: who is in line to potentially be coming back, if
- 45:19Speaker 3: there's player like I look at Thursday practice, right and
- 45:23Speaker 3: every Thursday practice you see Christian Parker working with Quinya
- 45:28Speaker 3: Mitchell and Adory Jackson, and then one week Brandon Johnson
- 45:31Speaker 3: was with them. Now it didn't end up that he
- 45:33Speaker 3: was elevated, but it was interesting to note.

- 46:49Speaker 2: Boulevard next week? We're in Are we in Warrington next week?
- 46:52Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 46:53Speaker 2: It will be you, We know for sure it'll be yeah.
- 46:55Speaker 2: Se who else is gonna be hosting with you?
- 46:56Speaker 4: We're working out the details.
- 46:57Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, So all right, Andrew, let's talk about it.
- 47:03Speaker 2: It's funny do they two corners just through zoom?
- 47:06Speaker 4: Now?
- 47:06Speaker 2: Is out? How they do it? Or do they do
- 47:07Speaker 2: it in the auditorium.
- 47:09Speaker 3: The Monday day after game is video conference, and then
- 47:13Speaker 3: every Tuesday is coordinators are in the auditorium.
- 47:16Speaker 2: Okay, okay, but that's all you get and then you go.
- 47:19Speaker 2: I mean you just write about you go home after that.
- 47:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean the in these truncated schedules that we've
- 47:24Speaker 3: been having on the shortened weeks, they they'll have you know,
- 47:26Speaker 3: practice and then.
- 47:29Speaker 4: Locker room later. But other than that, Yeah, that's about it.
- 47:33Speaker 4: All right.
- 47:33Speaker 2: Let's get to Kevin Petula. So he knew he's going
- 47:35Speaker 2: to be asked right off within the first two questions
- 47:38Speaker 2: what happened the second half? He's answered like he he
- 47:41Speaker 2: doesn't more oft than not, like Fander will answer the
- 47:45Speaker 2: question directly. He never shies away. He never sugarcoats anything.
- 47:50Speaker 2: I think too often Petula talks in circles. No. I
- 47:55Speaker 2: did find interesting though he didn't Mike Andrew that he
- 47:57Speaker 2: that they're still going through that, which typically on Tuesday
- 48:01Speaker 2: the players don't come into Wednesday. I understand that, but
- 48:03Speaker 2: they're still trying to figure out what's going on. What
- 48:05Speaker 2: happened in the second halfter that that is approximate, he
- 48:07Speaker 2: said that.
- 48:08Speaker 3: Yeah, but I mean it's also fair to be concerned
- 48:11Speaker 3: that you were now at week eighteen and you're still
- 48:14Speaker 3: you're still trying to figure fair.
- 48:15Speaker 4: I think it's scary you're still trying.
- 48:17Speaker 3: That you're still trying to figure out where they had
- 48:19Speaker 3: to overcome these sticking points. So I mean, you like
- 48:23Speaker 3: the transparency there, but it's it's time to find answers
- 48:26Speaker 3: because look, I mean, the lights get a little bit
- 48:29Speaker 3: brighter in a couple of weeks here.
- 48:31Speaker 2: This offensive line. Andrew, we got to talk about it.
- 48:36Speaker 2: I have to. I'd probably asked you this before. We
- 48:39Speaker 2: have to bring it up again. What did you see
- 48:41Speaker 2: in training camp for this offensive line?
- 48:44Speaker 4: I mean, I mean I I didn't.
- 48:47Speaker 3: I couldn't have foreseen what we saw right now, to
- 48:51Speaker 3: put it that way, I mean I thought.
- 48:53Speaker 2: That I thought you would. I wasn't sure if you
- 48:54Speaker 2: said that.
- 48:54Speaker 4: Thought I thought my lot. I had a good camp.
- 48:56Speaker 3: Tyler Steen was a player that was widely lauded from
- 48:59Speaker 3: all the off lineman from Jeff Stotland, Cam Jurgens didn't
- 49:03Speaker 3: work as much because he was coming off the back surgery.
- 49:06Speaker 2: Just heard him.
- 49:07Speaker 3: Landon had a good camp when he was out there.
- 49:09Speaker 3: So yeah, I mean it's kind of hard to envision
- 49:13Speaker 3: how that's going to Translatet. You get on the playing
- 49:16Speaker 3: field and the games are are going on, but they
- 49:20Speaker 3: haven't played the standard and I think a lot of
- 49:22Speaker 3: that has to do with being banged up. Look, they
- 49:24Speaker 3: played twenty one games last season. They played into February.
- 49:27Speaker 3: You have OTAs you're right back at it for someone
- 49:30Speaker 3: like Landon Dickerson and Cam Jurgens. They had offseason procedures
- 49:33Speaker 3: were they weren't So yeah, I mean, and you look
- 49:36Speaker 3: at the grueling nature of the way that the Eagles
- 49:38Speaker 3: played offense last year. That was a lot that was
- 49:41Speaker 3: placed on the shoulders of those offensive linemen and not
- 49:43Speaker 3: a lot of recovery times. So I think we probably
- 49:46Speaker 3: should have We probably should have looked a little bit
- 49:49Speaker 3: deeper into that as a collective. As a collective going
- 49:52Speaker 3: into it, it maybe not looked at Saquan and how
- 49:54Speaker 3: he was going to respond as much as we all did.
- 49:56Speaker 2: How much do you think Saquon because he's been good
- 50:01Speaker 2: the last like five weeks, But do you think he
- 50:03Speaker 2: tried was trying too hard earlier this season when it
- 50:05Speaker 2: was really bad.
- 50:06Speaker 3: I do, And I think the as evidenced by his
- 50:09Speaker 3: answers in recent weeks talking about dirty yards and angry
- 50:13Speaker 3: runs and if it's blocked for three, get three, if
- 50:16Speaker 3: it's block for four, get four, don't try to hit
- 50:18Speaker 3: that home run. And you may remember this Adam coming
- 50:21Speaker 3: into the draft, he acknowledged that the one of the
- 50:23Speaker 3: you know the mo, his MO was that he was
- 50:26Speaker 3: too home run reliant, and he kind of bristled at
- 50:28Speaker 3: that notion.
- 50:29Speaker 4: But I mean, you see it sometimes.
- 50:31Speaker 3: But when you're so accustomed to running through these truck
- 50:34Speaker 3: size holes last season and they're not there, and you
- 50:37Speaker 3: want to make an impact and you're trying to hit
- 50:39Speaker 3: the home run, sometimes you're pressing. You're doing a little
- 50:41Speaker 3: bit too much.
- 50:42Speaker 2: What I'd like to see in this game is whether
- 50:44Speaker 2: the starters play or not. If Barkley's playing a cameo
- 50:49Speaker 2: role for a quarter again, I'd be very suppresed to
- 50:51Speaker 2: be played. But I want to see Tank Bigsby. We
- 50:54Speaker 2: see this every week. Can he get more touches? Can
- 50:56Speaker 2: he get more carries? Like last week with the perfect opportunity,
- 51:00Speaker 2: like you can't run. It was like running into a wall.
- 51:02Speaker 2: They could not do anything well at all in the
- 51:05Speaker 2: second half. Bigsby are two carries? Why did you try
- 51:08Speaker 2: something else. I just that's the part about coaching it,
- 51:11Speaker 2: not just this group and any read used to frustrate me,
- 51:15Speaker 2: like and I understood analytically why you throw the ball
- 51:19Speaker 2: early and run when Joe Banner told me that when
- 51:20Speaker 2: we worked together at ESPN, because he showed me the charts,
- 51:23Speaker 2: I was like, Wow, if you go back to the sixties,
- 51:25Speaker 2: if you throw it more than you run it, you're
- 51:28Speaker 2: gonna win, like over sixty percent of the time. It's
- 51:30Speaker 2: just it can't really be challenged. It's a fact. But
- 51:34Speaker 2: when the quarterbacks struggling or you can't move the football,
- 51:37Speaker 2: try something else. Well, here's something else here. You're running
- 51:40Speaker 2: to a wall. You talked about it early in the
- 51:42Speaker 2: show when I asked you about it. Try somebody else.
- 51:44Speaker 2: Because Bigsby, by the way, he tries to break everything
- 51:46Speaker 2: outside every usually right everything.
- 51:49Speaker 3: Yeah, and then they do the occasional draw play on
- 51:52Speaker 3: third and long to Shipley. But yeah, you gotta find
- 51:55Speaker 3: you gotta mix it up. And I am curious to
- 51:58Speaker 3: see whether it's you know, AJ Dillon will Shipley. I
- 52:01Speaker 3: thyre able to kind of generate something from an offensive
- 52:04Speaker 3: standpoint in terms of the running game, because that's something
- 52:07Speaker 3: that we haven't seen with consistency at any point this season,
- 52:10Speaker 3: and there's gonna be different players and they're blocking for them.
- 52:12Speaker 3: I understand that, but I am curious to see if
- 52:15Speaker 3: they're able to kind of build off of anything.
- 52:18Speaker 2: Let's get to Victor Fangio from nearby what town was
- 52:22Speaker 2: it again? Edge, K.
- 52:26Speaker 4: That's gonna bother me. He went to East Strousburg and
- 52:30Speaker 4: coach for the Stars in nineteen eighty five.
- 52:32Speaker 3: Yeah, that's gonna bother me because I thought I knew
- 52:35Speaker 3: everything about but.
- 52:36Speaker 2: He's near Wilfsburg. But anyway, so Fangio today, your thoughts,
- 52:42Speaker 2: let's talk about that.
- 52:44Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, Vic Fangio is.
- 52:48Speaker 3: Always very candid, and I think talking about Jahat Campbell
- 52:51Speaker 3: for example, and how he performed, he mentioned that he
- 52:55Speaker 3: thought he did pretty well and that they're gonna that
- 52:57Speaker 3: they may need jah Hot Campbell right at some point
- 53:00Speaker 3: down down the line.
- 53:02Speaker 4: Here, and.
- 53:04Speaker 3: He mentioned what else was he Jalen Carter. Jalen Carter
- 53:09Speaker 3: looked well. I mean, look at the snaps that he played.
- 53:11Speaker 3: I think he played seventy six percent of the snaps.
- 53:13Speaker 3: First game back after three games, and he mentioned the
- 53:16Speaker 3: impact that he had. I just really appreciate and the tackling, yeah,
- 53:19Speaker 3: keep going.
- 53:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 53:20Speaker 3: He also talked about how how this team tackles and
- 53:24Speaker 3: plays football, and he kind of equated it in a
- 53:26Speaker 3: different way to the Eagles defensive last season, because if
- 53:29Speaker 3: you remember, going into this year, he said, oh, look,
- 53:32Speaker 3: we're going to be asking a lot of a lot
- 53:33Speaker 3: of different players, and he went down the list and
- 53:36Speaker 3: it had yet to be determined, and he said, yeah,
- 53:38Speaker 3: this year was the same thing. We needed other players
- 53:40Speaker 3: to step up and they did so. I think he
- 53:43Speaker 3: kind of drew a parallel to that.
- 53:44Speaker 2: Yeah, he discussed how well they've tackled this season, and
- 53:50Speaker 2: you have to remember he's from Dunmore Pencil denmar Denmoark Thanky. Yes, yes,
- 53:54Speaker 2: but the tackling andrew for this team other than the
- 53:58Speaker 2: Chicago which was in as obviously they gave up. They
- 54:02Speaker 2: gave up two hundred yard rushers in the first half
- 54:04Speaker 2: against the Bears, but overall their tackling is really good.
- 54:07Speaker 2: And that that was less about tackling. That was not
- 54:09Speaker 2: even being in the gaps. That was just bad gap control.
- 54:12Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, but you've got Bobby King, the linebacker's coach.
- 54:15Speaker 2: I know you you've written about him before, Who's fantastic
- 54:18Speaker 2: block destruction?
- 54:19Speaker 4: You that's what he talks about, a lot.
- 54:20Speaker 2: Block destruction, which is really good. And then Clint Hurt.
- 54:23Speaker 2: But I remember Jeff and I talked about when they
- 54:26Speaker 2: hired him, because we did, we did a background check,
- 54:29Speaker 2: we talked to people work with him, and you see
- 54:31Speaker 2: it on Hard Knocks by the way. He coaches hard.
- 54:33Speaker 2: Oh yeah, really hard. Yeah. And when you I mean
- 54:37Speaker 2: you got to coach. I think it takes after his boss, Vick,
- 54:41Speaker 2: because there are no nonsense.
- 54:43Speaker 4: All of those guys are no nonsense. You look at
- 54:45Speaker 4: Christian Parker, Bobby King, Clint Hurt.
- 54:48Speaker 3: I can't say enough good things about the assistant coaches
- 54:51Speaker 3: that Vic has filled out his coaching staff with and
- 54:54Speaker 3: the Eagles have because they they are rooted in teaching
- 54:57Speaker 3: the fundamentals, the whys behind, the why behind. They ask
- 55:00Speaker 3: him to do certain things and I think you can
- 55:02Speaker 3: see the development across the board.
- 55:04Speaker 2: What does this team do, Andrew, as we get ready
- 55:06Speaker 2: to close the show, what do they have to do
- 55:07Speaker 2: to get back to the Super Bowl.
- 55:10Speaker 4: I think they need to re establish the running game.
- 55:13Speaker 3: I think and I understand that this late in the game,
- 55:16Speaker 3: it's not likely that they're going to, but they have
- 55:18Speaker 3: to be able to. I mean, Saquon should be able
- 55:20Speaker 3: to get eighty yards a game, eighty five yards a game.
- 55:23Speaker 3: For the Eagles to be efficient offensively, they have to
- 55:26Speaker 3: be able to type into that running game, whether that's
- 55:28Speaker 3: implementing Tank bigsby a little bit more or the offensive
- 55:31Speaker 3: line maybe optimizing this week if they don't have to
- 55:33Speaker 3: play as much. But that's going to be the key,
- 55:35Speaker 3: as well as protecting the football and avoiding costly turnovers.
- 55:39Speaker 2: To me, it's the offensive coordinator being aggressive. Don't pull
- 55:45Speaker 2: your foot off the gas pedal. He clearly did, Okay,
- 55:49Speaker 2: Sirianni admitted it without he didn't have to say it.
- 55:52Speaker 2: He talked about it in his own way after the
- 55:54Speaker 2: Buffalo game. The offensive line, somehow, somehow they got to
- 55:58Speaker 2: get their energy back. I'd have no idea what's going
- 56:00Speaker 2: on here in the run game. I agree with you,
- 56:02Speaker 2: I couldn't tell. And try it's hard to tell. They
- 56:04Speaker 2: look fine, they look and plus And you made a
- 56:07Speaker 2: good point. Jurgens Reh having missed the entire offseason, Dickerson
- 56:11Speaker 2: missing the offseason, they clearly don't look right, and that's
- 56:15Speaker 2: something to look at. So hopefully they're going to get
- 56:16Speaker 2: the rest and close out games. Yes, yeah, that's another
- 56:20Speaker 2: thing we could put. Next week, we'll do our top ten.
- 56:22Speaker 2: So that was Andrew de Checo. I'm Adam Kaplan. You're
