- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to Dirty Rush, The Truth about Sorority Life with
- 0:04Speaker 1: your hosts me.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Gia Judice, Daisy Kent, and Jennifer Kessler.
- 0:13Speaker 3: Hey guys, and welcome back to another week of Dirty Rush.
- 0:16Speaker 3: I am currently here in Vegas, and I know a
- 0:19Speaker 3: lot of sororities and fraternities come here for fall break,
- 0:23Speaker 3: do formals out here in day parties. This is definitely
- 0:26Speaker 3: the place to have some fun. But sometimes fun comes
- 0:30Speaker 3: with trouble. So I'm excited to be here in Vegas.
- 0:34Speaker 3: The vibes are hi.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Vegas has me thinking about all of the scandals that
- 0:38Speaker 1: come with sorority life. So I'm going to tell you
- 0:41Speaker 1: of my little story. I think it's more risky than scandalous.
- 0:45Speaker 4: I don't know. I didn't do anything that's scandalous in
- 0:47Speaker 4: my life.
- 0:48Speaker 3: And here's some stories from some other people as well.
- 0:52Speaker 5: Hi Jiung Hi, how are you good?
- 0:54Speaker 4: How are you good?
- 0:55Speaker 6: Excited to be in Vegas, but it has me thinking
- 0:59Speaker 6: of a crazy easy story. It's not my story, but
- 1:03Speaker 6: I have permission to tell it from my sister, so
- 1:08Speaker 6: we can just jump in. Let's go okay, So essentially,
- 1:12Speaker 6: my sister took a trip to Vegas with her sorority sisters.
- 1:16Speaker 6: They were all having a grand old time running around
- 1:19Speaker 6: the strip, but they weren't twenty one yet, which clearly
- 1:23Speaker 6: is an issue being down here. So they were definitely
- 1:27Speaker 6: testing their limits with the fake IDs. I'm shocked that
- 1:31Speaker 6: they were able to get in anywhere, or.
- 1:34Speaker 3: Do any I mean, honestly, I've heard recently they of
- 1:38Speaker 3: some people you know that are underage getting in with
- 1:40Speaker 3: the fake IDs.
- 1:41Speaker 5: Yeah, I guess they have a good one.
- 1:43Speaker 4: If you have a dupe.
- 1:44Speaker 3: If you have a good one, like if you literally
- 1:46Speaker 3: have somebody else's old license and that person really looks
- 1:49Speaker 3: like you, it's a little more manageable than buying a
- 1:52Speaker 3: fake idea off the black market. But things have definitely,
- 1:56Speaker 3: I think gotten more lenient.
- 1:57Speaker 4: For sure.
- 1:58Speaker 6: I think so. And I think that ideas just have
- 2:00Speaker 6: gotten better and better. So anyways, they're running around, testing
- 2:04Speaker 6: their limits with the fake IDs, having a fun time,
- 2:07Speaker 6: and they find themselves at the blackjack tables.
- 2:11Speaker 4: Oh my god.
- 2:12Speaker 6: So they start playing and not thinking anything about it,
- 2:17Speaker 6: and my sister's sorority sisters were not doing too well.
- 2:22Speaker 6: They're kind of wanting to opt out, but they're having
- 2:24Speaker 6: fun at the table. They made friends with some people
- 2:26Speaker 6: around there, and all of a sudden, my sister starts
- 2:29Speaker 6: doing really, really well and she has no idea where
- 2:33Speaker 6: this burst of luck came from. But long story short,
- 2:37Speaker 6: she ends up getting up to four thousand dollars of money.
- 2:42Speaker 6: One at the stage hit she hit the jackpot somehow.
- 2:46Speaker 3: And she was four thousand dollars randomly just getting that
- 2:49Speaker 3: on a random day, especially as a college student. Though
- 2:53Speaker 3: as a nineteen year old, that is like, that's that's iconic.
- 2:57Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, this is helping me for the rest of
- 3:01Speaker 4: the semester.
- 3:02Speaker 6: Absolutely, absolutely, So she is on top of the world.
- 3:05Speaker 6: But she gets to a point where she's kind of
- 3:07Speaker 6: scared and she's like, I need to take this money
- 3:09Speaker 6: and like not place my bets any long year. I'm done.
- 3:13Speaker 6: I need to cut it off. So they say goodbye
- 3:15Speaker 6: to everybody at the table. They take her chips to
- 3:18Speaker 6: go cash in, and although her ID worked at the
- 3:21Speaker 6: table to play, her ID was not working when she
- 3:25Speaker 6: was trying to cash out, So this woman behind the
- 3:28Speaker 6: counter is scanning her ID. Her sorority sisters are standing
- 3:32Speaker 6: behind her. They're freaking out. They're so scared, trying to
- 3:35Speaker 6: hold their composure. All of their faces are beat red,
- 3:38Speaker 6: I'm sure, and they are kind of going back and
- 3:43Speaker 6: forth with this woman. She's trying to make calls to
- 3:45Speaker 6: the table to verify that she was at that table,
- 3:48Speaker 6: and she's like, I'm going to get arrested.
- 3:51Speaker 5: She's terrified.
- 3:52Speaker 6: Yeah, And by the grace of God, somehow this man
- 3:57Speaker 6: who was at their table walks over and dap her up,
- 4:00Speaker 6: pots her on the back, is like, congratulations, was amazing
- 4:04Speaker 6: win and he saved the day because he was able
- 4:07Speaker 6: to like verify to this woman and he was at
- 4:10Speaker 6: the table.
- 4:10Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:11Speaker 6: And so this woman, without her idea even scanning, handed
- 4:15Speaker 6: over the four thousand dollars to my sister and she
- 4:18Speaker 6: was freaking Wow.
- 4:20Speaker 4: She had a lucky night.
- 4:21Speaker 5: She had a lucky night.
- 4:22Speaker 3: Sometimes, you know, Vegas can be trouble, but sometimes it
- 4:25Speaker 3: could also be a whole lot of fun.
- 4:28Speaker 6: And absolutely it always I mean, I mean, it always brings.
- 4:33Speaker 3: This place to gandle I mean gamble scanned, I said,
- 4:37Speaker 3: I said scandal and gamble at the same time. I
- 4:40Speaker 3: guess this is the place to gamble. So yeah, she
- 4:43Speaker 3: definitely hit the jackpot, and I she pulled it off.
- 4:46Speaker 6: I know, I feel like it is one of the
- 4:49Speaker 6: more legendary sorority Vegas stories that I've ever heard, So
- 4:53Speaker 6: I wanted to jump into the chair.
- 4:55Speaker 3: Underage, I wouldn't recommend doing this, absolutely.
- 4:58Speaker 4: Wouldn't do this.
- 5:00Speaker 5: It was like one in a million.
- 5:01Speaker 3: When I didn't go anywhere until I was twenty one,
- 5:04Speaker 3: Like I didn't first time I was in Vegas, I
- 5:06Speaker 3: was actually twenty four, So yeah, I didn't, or.
- 5:10Speaker 4: No, I was twenty three.
- 5:11Speaker 3: I was twenty three, but didn't go out into the
- 5:14Speaker 3: bars like until I was twenty one. I was just
- 5:17Speaker 3: always so nervous, especially being in the being a public figure.
- 5:21Speaker 3: I did go to clubs in New York though underage
- 5:23Speaker 3: that was always easy, but like you knew to never
- 5:27Speaker 3: go to like Hoboken or down the shore bars in
- 5:30Speaker 3: Jersey with a fake ID, because it was always risky Vegas,
- 5:34Speaker 3: I would never ever have.
- 5:35Speaker 6: I can't believe she tried. I don't think I would either.
- 5:40Speaker 4: But I mean, good luck to your sister. That's awesome.
- 5:45Speaker 6: I know it was a good one.
- 5:46Speaker 4: Well, thank you so much for telling that story.
- 5:48Speaker 3: Absolutely, and now I have a little, I guess scandalous story.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Maybe I was just like breaking the rules at a
- 5:55Speaker 3: date party. But we had a date party in New York.
- 5:58Speaker 3: Rutgers didn't really do date parties where we traveled or.
- 6:02Speaker 4: Did anything like that.
- 6:03Speaker 3: I know some schools would go to Nashville or New
- 6:05Speaker 3: Orleans or even Vegas and go to really cool places.
- 6:10Speaker 4: We didn't really do that.
- 6:11Speaker 3: We stayed in the New Jersey or New York area
- 6:14Speaker 3: was the furthest we went. But we had a date
- 6:16Speaker 3: party in New York City and I wanted to go
- 6:19Speaker 3: out after so a couple of my friends and I
- 6:23Speaker 3: decided to ditch the party bus on the way home
- 6:26Speaker 3: back to Rutgers, and that wasn't allowed. But no one
- 6:30Speaker 3: ever snitched on me, so I never got in trouble.
- 6:32Speaker 3: We partied at the club till like four am and
- 6:36Speaker 3: went back to Rutgers, but I never got in trouble
- 6:38Speaker 3: for it.
- 6:39Speaker 4: But usually you are.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Not allowed to do that because they obviously are accountable
- 6:43Speaker 3: for you and it's a liability issue and stuff like that.
- 6:47Speaker 3: But I ended up finessing. No one snitched, Thank you
- 6:50Speaker 3: Zada sisters, And yeah, that was my scandalous story. Though
- 6:55Speaker 3: I guess I was just being a little risky that night.
- 6:57Speaker 3: I just I never really did anything that bad. It
- 7:00Speaker 3: was never really liked bad kid.
- 7:03Speaker 1: You had Vegas energy that night. Yeah, I had Vegas
- 7:06Speaker 1: energy that night. I had Vegas energy for sure. So
- 7:10Speaker 1: just wanted to be out all night. And yeah that
- 7:14Speaker 1: was fun. And now we're on with Stacy. She has
- 7:32Speaker 1: a scandalous story from sorority college life.
- 7:37Speaker 7: Hi Jia, Hi.
- 7:38Speaker 4: Stacy, how are you good? How are you good?
- 7:42Speaker 8: Oh?
- 7:42Speaker 3: I'm in Vegas right now, so I think your story
- 7:45Speaker 3: pertains to Vegas.
- 7:47Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 7:47Speaker 8: I could see a lot of people in Vegas acting
- 7:51Speaker 8: the way this fraternity boy did in my incident.
- 7:54Speaker 4: Oh wow, okay, I'm excited to hear it. Yeah.
- 7:58Speaker 8: It's been like, oh gosh, how many years is like
- 8:00Speaker 8: seven years or so since I graduated college and I
- 8:04Speaker 8: was really involved in my sorority.
- 8:06Speaker 7: I was social chair. And I don't know about where you.
- 8:09Speaker 8: Went to school, but social chair usually like plans all
- 8:11Speaker 8: the formals and date dashes.
- 8:13Speaker 4: Yeah I did. I was special chair of events.
- 8:15Speaker 3: So oh yeah, so some of like certain things, yeah exactly.
- 8:19Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 8:20Speaker 8: So we had a formal like in December before we
- 8:23Speaker 8: went on a winter break, and I'm checking people in
- 8:27Speaker 8: and if people were too drunk their date or themselves,
- 8:30Speaker 8: like my sorority sisters the security guard would tell me,
- 8:33Speaker 8: and I was supposed to be the one to say, like, sorry.
- 8:35Speaker 7: You can't come to the form right. Was that the
- 8:39Speaker 7: same for you.
- 8:39Speaker 3: Too, basically, like if you were like blacked out, like
- 8:43Speaker 3: you couldn't write right.
- 8:45Speaker 7: So I was checking everyone in and one of my.
- 8:48Speaker 8: Sorority sisters, who I was actually really friendly with, had
- 8:51Speaker 8: her crazy boyfriend who was in another fraternity on campus,
- 8:56Speaker 8: and the security guard and I fully look at each
- 8:58Speaker 8: other because.
- 8:59Speaker 2: He was very drunk.
- 9:01Speaker 8: So it was very clear that it would be a
- 9:03Speaker 8: liability if he went to the formal, so I had
- 9:06Speaker 8: to be the one to tell him, I'm sorry, you
- 9:07Speaker 8: guys can't come, and they obviously freaked out but walked away.
- 9:11Speaker 7: So I thought that's the end of it. So we
- 9:15Speaker 7: go on the party bus.
- 9:17Speaker 8: Everything was perfect, and then I get back to the
- 9:21Speaker 8: sorority and get off.
- 9:22Speaker 7: The party bus and the house.
- 9:25Speaker 8: Mom of my sorority and the president were like, Hi, Stacy,
- 9:28Speaker 8: we need to show you something, and I was like,
- 9:30Speaker 8: oh gosh, what happened? And I walk over to my
- 9:33Speaker 8: car in the parking lot because I drove to the sorority.
- 9:36Speaker 7: I didn't live in a sorty, but I had to
- 9:37Speaker 7: like unload things for.
- 9:38Speaker 8: The party and whatnot, and the fraternity boy basically took
- 9:44Speaker 8: a soroc bottle to my entire windshield and glass from
- 9:49Speaker 8: the front of my car and stomped on my car
- 9:51Speaker 8: and just completely keyed the side of it, just totally
- 9:55Speaker 8: ruined it.
- 9:57Speaker 7: Because I didn't let him in, yes, and.
- 10:00Speaker 8: I didn't know who it was right away, so I
- 10:02Speaker 8: was like bowing crying.
- 10:03Speaker 7: I'm like, are you kidding me? That they knew? It
- 10:06Speaker 7: was like someone on campus?
- 10:08Speaker 3: Okay, that's just like so od And it wasn't even
- 10:11Speaker 3: his date party, like it was your sororities Like I
- 10:14Speaker 3: would get it. I understand if he was maybe so
- 10:17Speaker 3: mad that he couldn't get into his own date party,
- 10:19Speaker 3: but the fact that he did it to you and it.
- 10:22Speaker 4: Was like it was your sorority date party, like they.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Could have gone out afterwards to like a bar at
- 10:27Speaker 3: school or like done something else, and especially if they
- 10:30Speaker 3: were dating, like just enjoy your night with your girlfriend
- 10:33Speaker 3: then at that point, or just like go to bed.
- 10:35Speaker 3: The fact that he did that afterwards is insane. Like
- 10:38Speaker 3: I think like mental asylum, Like I don't even think
- 10:41Speaker 3: that that's normal, right, Like you have issues.
- 10:45Speaker 8: And she ended up getting dropped from a sorority and
- 10:47Speaker 8: he got a dropped from his fraternity because Panaltik found out.
- 10:50Speaker 3: And it was just like that worth No, I mean,
- 10:53Speaker 3: you completely vandalized and ruined someone's car, like definitely, like.
- 10:59Speaker 4: Meant institute vibes exactly. He's admitted. I wonder where he's
- 11:05Speaker 4: at now.
- 11:06Speaker 7: I don't know. He had to pay me back. I'm like,
- 11:08Speaker 7: are you kidding me?
- 11:09Speaker 4: Like, oh my god, he had to pay you back. Yeah,
- 11:12Speaker 4: I mean I.
- 11:12Speaker 7: Had to get my car fixed. I wasn't even drivable.
- 11:15Speaker 4: Oh my god.
- 11:16Speaker 9: Wow.
- 11:17Speaker 4: So I'm sure that was a pretty penny too.
- 11:20Speaker 8: Yeah, And you know, I was starred after that. I
- 11:22Speaker 8: didn't want to be social show anymore. I didn't think
- 11:25Speaker 8: people would act like that.
- 11:27Speaker 3: I mean, of course, I mean that's just not that's
- 11:29Speaker 3: just not a normal way to act.
- 11:30Speaker 4: But it's you.
- 11:31Speaker 3: Know, it's I feel like, especially with guys, they get
- 11:35Speaker 3: a little carried away sometimes when they're drinking and they
- 11:37Speaker 3: get that like macho masculine vibe and just want to
- 11:41Speaker 3: you know, dominate and show their dominance.
- 11:44Speaker 4: And that was his way of doing it.
- 11:46Speaker 3: I mean, I thought you were going to go with
- 11:47Speaker 3: this story telling me that they ended up ubering to
- 11:50Speaker 3: the venue of the day party and tried to like
- 11:52Speaker 3: sneak in, but then it really.
- 11:54Speaker 7: Took a turn that would be better.
- 11:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I thought they were just going to
- 11:58Speaker 3: like really try to make their way into the state party.
- 12:02Speaker 4: Wow, that's crazy. I'm so sorry about that.
- 12:05Speaker 3: But I'm happy, Like I'm happier okay now, And I'm
- 12:10Speaker 3: happy he paid for your car and got kicked out
- 12:13Speaker 3: of his fraternity well deserved.
- 12:15Speaker 8: Yeah, well deserved. And everyone just completely blacklisted them. So
- 12:19Speaker 8: they did it for themselves. But I will never forget that.
- 12:24Speaker 4: I would not either.
- 12:26Speaker 3: That is crazy. Oh, Stacy, Well, I'm so sorry. That
- 12:30Speaker 3: would definitely scar me too. But that is a crazy story.
- 12:35Speaker 3: I wish I had a story like that that I
- 12:37Speaker 3: could tell, but I I don't. But I'm so sorry
- 12:41Speaker 3: that happened to you, Sdacy.
- 12:43Speaker 8: I'm sure you experienced crazy fraternity boys.
- 12:46Speaker 3: Yeah, definitely experienced crazy fraternity boys. I mean yeah, I
- 12:52Speaker 3: mean this one guy was dating my best friend and
- 12:58Speaker 3: he was definitely aggressive with her, not the best boyfriend,
- 13:04Speaker 3: And it happened at the frat house.
- 13:08Speaker 4: And I literally saw red because.
- 13:12Speaker 3: I kind of went through something similar through one instinct,
- 13:16Speaker 3: like in one time of my life.
- 13:18Speaker 4: So I literally saw red.
- 13:21Speaker 3: And I ran up to my friend's ex boyfriend and
- 13:25Speaker 3: literally like punched him in the face.
- 13:26Speaker 4: And like all of my all of my friends, like all.
- 13:29Speaker 3: My guy friends in the fraternity were like she had
- 13:33Speaker 3: Like they were like hold.
- 13:34Speaker 4: And I was like, guys, I'm fine.
- 13:36Speaker 3: I feel good now, like I did that, like he
- 13:38Speaker 3: can leave, like and then we obviously had to like
- 13:41Speaker 3: call the cops and my friend never spoke to this
- 13:45Speaker 3: man again because I'm like, dude, I literally punched someone.
- 13:48Speaker 4: For you, Like, You're never speaking to this guy again.
- 13:51Speaker 7: Your friend wasn't mad at you.
- 13:53Speaker 4: No, oh my god, no, like she no, she knew
- 13:57Speaker 4: that I did. And they were like on the like
- 13:59Speaker 4: on the cusp of like breaking up, like it was right.
- 14:02Speaker 3: It was very bad, but but yeah, this was like
- 14:06Speaker 3: the icing on the cake. And that was the worst
- 14:08Speaker 3: encounter I've ever had with a FRAP brother. But like
- 14:11Speaker 3: all of my guy friends in the fraternity were.
- 14:13Speaker 4: Like, gee, yah, are you are you crazy?
- 14:17Speaker 3: And I was like, no, I'm not crazy, Like he
- 14:20Speaker 3: just like put his hands on my friend.
- 14:22Speaker 4: I'm not crazy at all.
- 14:24Speaker 7: But I'm glad you did that. You have to stand
- 14:26Speaker 7: up for your friends.
- 14:27Speaker 3: No, yeah, but they were you know, I think no
- 14:31Speaker 3: frap boy would ever mess with me again, No, or
- 14:33Speaker 3: my friends for that matter.
- 14:35Speaker 7: But whoever listens to this no is not the mess
- 14:37Speaker 7: with you. Oh my gosh. Yeah.
- 14:41Speaker 8: Well, anyone out there who's a social chair, just be
- 14:44Speaker 8: careful because you never know.
- 14:45Speaker 4: Yeah, definitely be careful.
- 14:47Speaker 3: That's crazy, you crazy, You deal with some crazy people, exactly.
- 14:52Speaker 7: Yeah, drinking doesn't help.
- 14:54Speaker 3: No, drinking doesn't help. And for some odd reason, I
- 14:56Speaker 3: think it just really esque. It's men's testosterones to another level.
- 15:03Speaker 8: So right, they have to just act cool in front
- 15:06Speaker 8: of their fraternity brothers and then now.
- 15:08Speaker 3: And for whatever reason, like violence is always the answer,
- 15:13Speaker 3: whether it's like getting into a fight outside the bar
- 15:17Speaker 3: or like doing something completely out of line and inappropriate.
- 15:22Speaker 4: Like boys always result.
- 15:24Speaker 3: To violence when they're drinking. Yeah, most most boys, I
- 15:29Speaker 3: should not say all boys, but most right.
- 15:33Speaker 8: Right, Yeah, No, people would always head butt in my college,
- 15:35Speaker 8: like like get in fights, like things were just weird.
- 15:39Speaker 8: Not my not my cup, no, not my cup a.
- 15:41Speaker 4: D No, definitely not.
- 15:43Speaker 3: Well, Stacey, I'm glad you're okay now, thank you for
- 15:46Speaker 3: sharing your story. And yeah, social chairs. Definitely be careful.
- 15:50Speaker 3: Maybe you have maybe you have security on backup.
- 15:53Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, for sure. Well, thank you, Gia, thank you.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Hi guys, it's Daisy and I have one of my
- 16:15Speaker 2: producers here with me.
- 16:16Speaker 5: Hi, guys.
- 16:17Speaker 2: We're so excited and being in Vegas. It kind of
- 16:20Speaker 2: got me thinking back to my first time I came
- 16:23Speaker 2: to Vegas. It was actually for a frat formal with Pike,
- 16:29Speaker 2: and that was the first time I had been there.
- 16:31Speaker 6: That is crazy.
- 16:32Speaker 5: How old were you?
- 16:33Speaker 2: I was nineteen. It was my freshman year, so I
- 16:36Speaker 2: feel like you're still figuring out college. I mean, you
- 16:38Speaker 2: can't even age.
- 16:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Yeah, but we were like doing the college thing, so yeah,
- 16:44Speaker 2: we were finding ways to everyone have fake IDs. But
- 16:51Speaker 2: my first time in Vegas, so one of my best
- 16:54Speaker 2: friend Christy, who I talk about pretty often, but we
- 16:56Speaker 2: were freshman roommates. We weren't best friends until moved in,
- 17:00Speaker 2: but anyway, we had a really good friend Joseph, and
- 17:05Speaker 2: like a week before they did their formal, his date
- 17:09Speaker 2: like ditched him, so he didn't have a date and
- 17:11Speaker 2: he was like venting to us about it. Me and
- 17:13Speaker 2: Chrissy were like, well, we'll go with you, but you
- 17:15Speaker 2: have to bring both of us. He was like, I
- 17:17Speaker 2: don't know if I can do that, and so he
- 17:19Speaker 2: reached out to his like fraternity whatever. He was also
- 17:23Speaker 2: a freshman, and they were like, sure, you can bring
- 17:25Speaker 2: them both. So we both went to Vegas and that
- 17:29Speaker 2: was my first time coming here, and we did like
- 17:32Speaker 2: all the things. Where was that movie filmed? What's that casino?
- 17:37Speaker 2: Or not the casino? It's like a hotel they filmed
- 17:39Speaker 2: a movie in. Is it The Hangover?
- 17:42Speaker 9: Oh?
- 17:42Speaker 6: Is it The Hangover? Caesar's Palace?
- 17:45Speaker 2: Yes, okay palace?
- 17:47Speaker 5: Yeah? And stay the Break That is a crazy place.
- 17:52Speaker 2: And so Pike like rented out that like area or whatever,
- 17:58Speaker 2: and so we were all in there like hanging out
- 18:00Speaker 2: a lot of people like weren't twenty one, and if
- 18:02Speaker 2: you're twenty one, using in fake in Vegas like it
- 18:04Speaker 2: doesn't really work. So we were just kind of doing
- 18:06Speaker 2: what we could, you know. Yeah. But then one night
- 18:09Speaker 2: we were walking back on the strip and I mean,
- 18:12Speaker 2: you see all this like craziness on the strip, and
- 18:15Speaker 2: this guy comes up to us and he's like, do
- 18:16Speaker 2: you guys want to get in a limo? He's like
- 18:19Speaker 2: a promoter, He says, do you want to get in
- 18:21Speaker 2: this limo to go to this club. Everything is free,
- 18:24Speaker 2: and we were like nineteen, We're like, okay, yeah, let's
- 18:28Speaker 2: do it.
- 18:28Speaker 5: It's terrifying. You were just no hesitation gone in the car.
- 18:32Speaker 2: I don't know, that's what I'm saying, Like nineteen year
- 18:33Speaker 2: old me, she was crazy. But so we were with
- 18:38Speaker 2: me and Chrissy, were with Joseph and a couple other
- 18:41Speaker 2: of like the guys, and so we got in this
- 18:43Speaker 2: limo and we're like, okay, this is awesome. There's alcohol
- 18:47Speaker 2: in the limo. The driver's like in a suit. Never
- 18:50Speaker 2: been to Vegas before, thought we were going to this club.
- 18:53Speaker 2: We pull up to the said club and we walk
- 18:59Speaker 2: inside and first of all, all they said we didn't
- 19:00Speaker 2: have to pay anything. Me and Christy could go in,
- 19:02Speaker 2: but the guys had to pay. We walk in and
- 19:05Speaker 2: there's like a wrestling match of people in like a
- 19:08Speaker 2: boxing ring.
- 19:09Speaker 5: All these men like boxing ring in the middle of
- 19:12Speaker 5: the club.
- 19:12Speaker 2: Yes, like in these crazy outfits. And then it was
- 19:16Speaker 2: like looking a little strange in their like wasn't giving
- 19:18Speaker 2: club vibes. And then all of a sudden, all these
- 19:21Speaker 2: strippers walk out and we were at a strip club.
- 19:24Speaker 5: And you had no idea walking in there?
- 19:27Speaker 2: What did I want?
- 19:28Speaker 5: You had no idea, no idea.
- 19:29Speaker 2: When we walked in, it was like the wrestling match going,
- 19:31Speaker 2: so I don't know why that was there. And then
- 19:35Speaker 2: it was strippers. I had never been to a strip
- 19:36Speaker 2: club before. This is unreal bedroom and then we were
- 19:43Speaker 2: like at there and of course it's like a bunch
- 19:45Speaker 2: of nineteen year old guys with us, like they're they're
- 19:48Speaker 2: having the time of their life. Okay, first time in Vegas.
- 19:51Speaker 2: They're at a strip club, like that's that's the high
- 19:54Speaker 2: of their year. And then me and Christy are like, okay,
- 19:59Speaker 2: let's find the bar and get it drink and we
- 20:00Speaker 2: go and it's a no alcohol place, like they don't
- 20:03Speaker 2: have alcohol, and we were like this is something like what,
- 20:07Speaker 2: I don't know. It was just it was like the
- 20:09Speaker 2: craziest thing, though, that.
- 20:11Speaker 6: Is insanely counterintuitive to not have alcohol. Out of places,
- 20:16Speaker 6: we have a wrestling match, we're on the strip, right,
- 20:19Speaker 6: no alcohol.
- 20:20Speaker 2: I was like, honestly, it was a great first time
- 20:22Speaker 2: in Vegas because I was like, I was such a
- 20:25Speaker 2: good story and I'm like, okay, that's like that's what
- 20:28Speaker 2: happens in Vegas, you know what. I mean I remember
- 20:31Speaker 2: getting back when we like left and I was like, Okay,
- 20:34Speaker 2: I feel like so gross, I feel so dirty. I
- 20:38Speaker 2: need to go to church.
- 20:39Speaker 6: It's also like, how do you explain that to someone else?
- 20:43Speaker 5: Like I feel like they.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Woult you can't.
- 20:46Speaker 6: I know, it's nuts. And the fact that that was
- 20:49Speaker 6: your sorority or your first fraternity for that, that was what
- 20:52Speaker 6: woever Yeah too traveled for.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Yeah, it was my first. So I've been to other
- 20:57Speaker 2: fraternity foremost before that, but that was my first, like
- 21:00Speaker 2: ain one. Yeah, and it was in Vegas. Tons we
- 21:04Speaker 2: were all nineteen.
- 21:07Speaker 4: What a story. I love it.
- 21:09Speaker 6: So you're nineteen years old, you're gearing up for Vegas.
- 21:15Speaker 6: How are you getting to Vegas? Did everyone road trip?
- 21:17Speaker 6: Were there are buses? Because I've heard of fraternity formals
- 21:21Speaker 6: that take kids on buses and it's a whole organized thing.
- 21:24Speaker 5: But was it structured like that?
- 21:26Speaker 2: So sometimes we had ones like that, but this one wasn't.
- 21:29Speaker 2: It was kind of like everybody like get in a
- 21:32Speaker 2: car and bring your day because it was it was
- 21:34Speaker 2: some like weird break in school or no, it was
- 21:37Speaker 2: Easter weekend, so it was like a weird break. So people, Yeah,
- 21:40Speaker 2: we were at the strip club Saturday night on Sunday
- 21:44Speaker 2: the next day.
- 21:45Speaker 5: Awesome, awesome.
- 21:46Speaker 6: That is so wild.
- 21:48Speaker 5: And so when people go on.
- 21:50Speaker 6: These trips, yeah, like I know, if you're in the
- 21:53Speaker 6: sorority house, you have like how small like where how small?
- 21:56Speaker 5: Is there any supervisious?
- 21:58Speaker 2: So I think sororities, like am I experience, they're a
- 22:00Speaker 2: lot more like I don't know what the word is,
- 22:05Speaker 2: like careful or like they have like you have like risk,
- 22:07Speaker 2: like management or whatever. So it's like some people are
- 22:10Speaker 2: like sober the whole time and making sure everyone's like okay.
- 22:13Speaker 2: But I feel like frats from my experience, are more
- 22:16Speaker 2: of like a free for all and it's just like
- 22:19Speaker 2: like we were just like you're just having the timing
- 22:23Speaker 2: of your life and you're nineteen years old. Yeah, I
- 22:25Speaker 2: mean there's upperclassmen, but like how old are they? Like
- 22:27Speaker 2: twenty two?
- 22:28Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Like you're an adult, but like you're not, you know
- 22:33Speaker 2: what I mean?
- 22:33Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 22:34Speaker 6: That is so wild. Yeah, And how many people do
- 22:37Speaker 6: you think went on this trip?
- 22:38Speaker 2: I think there's probably like one twenty And then they
- 22:40Speaker 2: all bring a date. Yeah, and then they all bring
- 22:42Speaker 2: a date that's in our days case, he brought two dates.
- 22:45Speaker 6: Yeah, so who knows how many people snuck onto this trip?
- 22:49Speaker 5: Yeah, I love it.
- 22:50Speaker 6: So post all of this happening. Yes, but did we
- 22:53Speaker 6: ever see this promoter again? How did we get home?
- 22:56Speaker 2: Like, so I believe we just took we took uber home, okay,
- 23:01Speaker 2: and then but no, we never saw the promoter again.
- 23:04Speaker 6: Sad, I feel like you deserved to thank you know.
- 23:06Speaker 2: For something literally. And then it was funny though, because
- 23:11Speaker 2: so all of like the upper classmen, they're like twenty one,
- 23:14Speaker 2: so they were all like at the actual like club,
- 23:18Speaker 2: but we can get into the actual club. So we
- 23:21Speaker 2: were at a strip club, I guess, but I remember
- 23:24Speaker 2: the next day they were like all like jerried about
- 23:28Speaker 2: their nights, like, well we ended up at the strip club,
- 23:31Speaker 2: and all the upper classmen were like wait.
- 23:33Speaker 6: What I bet because they probably thought they had the
- 23:38Speaker 6: craziest night. Yeah, able to get into all the places. Yeah,
- 23:41Speaker 6: you're like a story for you.
- 23:43Speaker 2: Yeah, we were like, no, the freshmen had the craziest night.
- 23:45Speaker 6: Yeah. So while you're at the strip club, yeah, people
- 23:49Speaker 6: taking out singles, Like what was going on? How was
- 23:52Speaker 6: everybody reacting to being in this environment?
- 23:55Speaker 2: I mean yeah, all the guys were like throwing money
- 23:58Speaker 2: for sure.
- 23:58Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:59Speaker 2: I was kind of like and I was like, what
- 24:01Speaker 2: is happening? It was like almost like like you don't
- 24:03Speaker 2: like you're like, is this real life?
- 24:05Speaker 5: Yeah, it actually happening.
- 24:09Speaker 2: It's also like I'm nineteen years old from the middle
- 24:12Speaker 2: of nowhere, Minnesota, like a town of like under two
- 24:15Speaker 2: thousand people, Like this is absurd to me, Like this
- 24:18Speaker 2: is nothing I've ever seen before.
- 24:21Speaker 6: Yeah, and how was that drive back to San Diego?
- 24:24Speaker 5: Brutal?
- 24:25Speaker 2: I'm sure brutal and kind of like questioning, like what
- 24:30Speaker 2: I just everything I just experienced. Okay, guys, we have
- 24:48Speaker 2: a caller that just called in. Her name is Lauren Hi.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Lauren Hi, Hi, How are you good? How are you
- 24:55Speaker 2: doing great?
- 24:56Speaker 9: Thanks?
- 24:57Speaker 2: Thanks for coming on Dirty Rush. So I heard that
- 25:01Speaker 2: you have a crazy story about Vegas.
- 25:04Speaker 9: Yeah. So when I was in college, we had something
- 25:08Speaker 9: called an airport party, which I had never heard of
- 25:12Speaker 9: before getting to college. And I don't know how many
- 25:15Speaker 9: hurders stay there around for So this is probably nineteen
- 25:19Speaker 9: ninety three, and I went to cal in Berkeley.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Oh, fun.
- 25:25Speaker 9: So what it consisted of? You went to a fraternity
- 25:29Speaker 9: Actually it started with I went with my best friend's
- 25:33Speaker 9: brother who was a good friend of mine, and he
- 25:36Speaker 9: showed up at my sorority. He brought me a chia pet,
- 25:39Speaker 9: which was a unique gift, I guess, instead of flowers,
- 25:44Speaker 9: and picked me up and then we went back to
- 25:48Speaker 9: his fraternity, had a bunch of cocktails for an hour
- 25:53Speaker 9: or so, and then we went hopped on a bus
- 25:57Speaker 9: and drove to the Oakland Airport and everyone got off
- 26:03Speaker 9: the bus and it was you know, pre nine eleven,
- 26:06Speaker 9: so very little security. We went straight into the terminal
- 26:11Speaker 9: and they drew a name out of a hat and
- 26:16Speaker 9: that person was going to win a trip to Vegas.
- 26:21Speaker 9: And I did not pack a bag. I had no
- 26:25Speaker 9: intention of going going to I had my formal the
- 26:29Speaker 9: next night, and I had a boyfriend that I was going,
- 26:34Speaker 9: you know with to my formal, So wasn't planning on going. Yeah,
- 26:39Speaker 9: I guess all of the cocktails and a lot of coaxing,
- 26:45Speaker 9: we decided we were going to go. So someone gave
- 26:47Speaker 9: me like their hair brush, and I don't know what
- 26:50Speaker 9: else they had in their bag.
- 26:52Speaker 2: You're like, who has something I can take with me
- 26:54Speaker 2: to Vegas? Because I'm like.
- 26:55Speaker 9: Okay, so I'm gonna have a hair brush and that's it.
- 26:58Speaker 9: I have no clothes, nothing, and so we left everyone.
- 27:02Speaker 9: I don't know where the rest of the party went,
- 27:05Speaker 9: but we boarded the flight. It was a Southwest flight
- 27:09Speaker 9: and in those days they had the phones on the
- 27:13Speaker 9: back of the airplane seats. And my Day and I
- 27:19Speaker 9: our parents grew up together. They went to cal together,
- 27:22Speaker 9: really good friends in each other's weddings, and so we
- 27:26Speaker 9: decided to call our parents. I think it was probably
- 27:28Speaker 9: like eleven thirty, I'm sure we woke them both up
- 27:32Speaker 9: and said, you know, we're going to Vegas. We won
- 27:34Speaker 9: this trip, and they didn't quite grasp what we were doing,
- 27:38Speaker 9: but they just you two, just the two of us.
- 27:41Speaker 2: Yeah, what did your boyfriend think of that?
- 27:44Speaker 9: Well, he was not that happy. I mean, I don't
- 27:48Speaker 9: think he was like threatened that I was going with
- 27:50Speaker 9: my friend, but I think he was like, you're going
- 27:52Speaker 9: to be super hungover for your formal that I'm coming
- 27:56Speaker 9: out for. He was out of college and older, so yeah,
- 28:02Speaker 9: I mean, he wasn't thrilled, but whatever, it was fine
- 28:05Speaker 9: and we you know, fly there, get off the plane.
- 28:11Speaker 9: By this point it was like seemed like maybe a
- 28:14Speaker 9: good idea. And then by the time we got there,
- 28:17Speaker 9: we were both like super tired and wondering why we
- 28:21Speaker 9: agreed to this. But we go to the fancy Luxor Hotel,
- 28:26Speaker 9: which I'm not sure if that's even still there anymore,
- 28:28Speaker 9: but it was like that weird pyramid hotel in Vegas.
- 28:31Speaker 2: Oh okay, I know what you're talking about.
- 28:33Speaker 5: Yeah, And.
- 28:35Speaker 9: He went up to the check in and said that
- 28:39Speaker 9: it was our honeymoon and that we needed to be
- 28:42Speaker 9: upgraded to the honeymoon's suite, and he just kept going
- 28:45Speaker 9: back and forth with them. They're like, no, no, no,
- 28:48Speaker 9: that's not what it was booked for. And he just
- 28:52Speaker 9: kept saying, well, we're going to have a baby tonight.
- 28:54Speaker 9: We're going to conceive a baby, and it needs to
- 28:56Speaker 9: be in the honeymoon suite. And I'm like, oh my god,
- 28:58Speaker 9: I just want to go to bed. So anyway, they
- 29:01Speaker 9: gave us the honeymoons we which at the Luxor is
- 29:04Speaker 9: nothing fancy, and it reeked of smoke, and we just
- 29:10Speaker 9: went to bed. Like by that point, I don't even
- 29:13Speaker 9: think we gambled. If we did, I don't remember us
- 29:16Speaker 9: to sleep, Yeah, just like fly all the way there
- 29:20Speaker 9: and go to sleep. We woke up super early. We
- 29:26Speaker 9: reeked of smoke. I was in my clothes from the
- 29:28Speaker 9: night before, and we just decided that we were ready
- 29:33Speaker 9: to go home. So we literally probably got there at
- 29:36Speaker 9: one in the morning, and I think we were on
- 29:39Speaker 9: like a seven am flight, right, And so that's hilarious.
- 29:44Speaker 9: I think all that came out of it was a
- 29:46Speaker 9: good story.
- 29:47Speaker 2: Yeah, how are you for your formal?
- 29:49Speaker 9: Then I was hungover, but my boyfriend did come and
- 29:54Speaker 9: he didn't get me a chia pet, so that was
- 29:56Speaker 9: kind of a bummer. I was really hoping for two
- 29:58Speaker 9: in one weekend, and yeah, that was kind of it.
- 30:01Speaker 9: Like it was super you know, fun story. I don't
- 30:05Speaker 9: know that if like I felt great when I was
- 30:08Speaker 9: doing it, but it was fun.
- 30:11Speaker 2: It's like one of those things where you're like, oh,
- 30:12Speaker 2: this is so awesome. I'm like this is great, and
- 30:14Speaker 2: then you get there and you're like, wait.
- 30:17Speaker 9: Yeah, why am I here? Why am I here? But yeah,
- 30:20Speaker 9: I mean I guess if thirty years later I can
- 30:22Speaker 9: tell the story and it's a little fits my daughter
- 30:25Speaker 9: hearing it, then I guess it was worth it.
- 30:28Speaker 2: It's crazy to think about like airports, like back then
- 30:30Speaker 2: you could just like walk in yeah, and like you
- 30:34Speaker 2: fully just had like a full like fraternity party in
- 30:38Speaker 2: the airport.
- 30:39Speaker 9: Yeah, and I think you could just go up to
- 30:43Speaker 9: the ticket counter and just buy a ticket right then
- 30:46Speaker 9: and there, or I don't know if they had already
- 30:48Speaker 9: bought tickets and then they just put our names on them.
- 30:51Speaker 9: Oh okay, because they didn't know until they drew the
- 30:54Speaker 9: name who was going.
- 30:56Speaker 2: That is crazy.
- 30:57Speaker 9: Oh, we were the lucky winners.
- 30:59Speaker 2: I wonder they still do that.
- 31:01Speaker 9: I don't think so. I don't think so. I've never
- 31:05Speaker 9: heard of anyone, and actually i've had I asked a
- 31:07Speaker 9: couple of people today who went to cal who are
- 31:11Speaker 9: a little bit older. I'm like, did you guys ever
- 31:12Speaker 9: go to an airport party? And they're like, I have
- 31:14Speaker 9: no idea what you're talking about.
- 31:15Speaker 2: Honestly, someone should bring that back. But you just draw
- 31:18Speaker 2: the name at the fraternity and then that person in
- 31:21Speaker 2: their date. I have to send it to Vegas like
- 31:23Speaker 2: twenty four hours.
- 31:25Speaker 9: I think it'd be great. So do you even do
- 31:27Speaker 9: you know what a chia pet is? Have you heard
- 31:30Speaker 9: of them? No?
- 31:30Speaker 2: I don't even train like a stuffed animal, like a
- 31:32Speaker 2: weird stuffed animal.
- 31:34Speaker 9: No, it's actually I think it was like made of
- 31:37Speaker 9: clay and they came in different shapes. I think this
- 31:42Speaker 9: was like I don't know, maybe a cow or a pig,
- 31:45Speaker 9: and then you watered it.
- 31:48Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, green grass or grows out of it. Okay,
- 31:54Speaker 2: now I know what you're talking about.
- 31:55Speaker 5: That, sir.
- 31:57Speaker 9: I bet you they still sell them. I don't think
- 32:00Speaker 9: think it was a common thing that they gave people for,
- 32:02Speaker 9: you know, us date gifts. But I do think you
- 32:05Speaker 9: could probably find one. It's like a mister potato head
- 32:08Speaker 9: kind of you know, like, yeah, it's timeless.
- 32:11Speaker 2: Well did your chia pet? Did it grow? It's grass hair?
- 32:15Speaker 9: I think it grew. I don't know how long I
- 32:17Speaker 9: kept it. I feel like my room was really small
- 32:19Speaker 9: and it was going to take up some much needed space.
- 32:23Speaker 2: I love that. Well, that is a great Vegus story.
- 32:27Speaker 9: Thank you, You're welcome.
