UN Adds Controversial Sites Amid Conflict | San Antonio News
UNESCO just added Sebastia in the West Bank and five Lebanese castles to the World Heritage List — despite Israel’s fierce objections. The sites, now also on the List of World Heritage in Danger, face threats from conflict and land seizures. Palestinian authorities pushed for Sebastia’s protection since 2012, while Lebanon’s castles boast centuries of layered history.
