- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville Jaguar's fans, welcome in to Dove All Daily, presented by Jinjag.com, and fueled by Brass Tax Coffee.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Jordan Deluga, thanks so much for being here Friday, August 21st, Game Day Preview.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_00]: For Jaguars and Panthers, I am fired up to get into it.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_00]: This is preseason week number two.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars have had joint practices with both.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: of their preseason opponent so far and they're going to have joint practice with the Buccaneers next week too.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to have two joint practices with the Bucks after having one with the Panthers and one with the Saints.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_00]: So we're just going to dive into this preview here today.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_00]: Preview on this football game.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_00]: Preseason week two, you don't need to win in the preseason.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_00]: We all know that, although it is nice to get a win.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_00]: It's a good feeling to get a win.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_00]: After the Jaguar has kind of came out last week, pretty flat early on in the joint practice and in the game, they were able to come back and take a dub from the Saints.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: So are they going to be able to do that this week?
- 0:53[SPEAKER_00]: Again, not sure how much that matters.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: And I'll be honest with you, I don't want to see any starters for the jacks.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: I do not want to see the starters out there.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if they're going to play.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_00]: It was trending towards, you know, on Monday, Liam Cohen said the plan at that time was for the starters to get up to two drives.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: then you get into practice week and you get into the joint practice and the jag war is come out and they play physical, they play good football and get really good work in the starters specifically and so now you're at the point where it's like, well,
- 1:32[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, if the starters need to play, Liam Cohen said that yesterday, he was actually Wednesday.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: He was going to make the decision if the starters are going to play or not.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_00]: And part of that, I think, has to do with the offensive line injuries and injuries in general.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_00]: You know Parker Washington is supposed to be back next week.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_00]: He's been day to day.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_00]: Why have my limits supposed to be back next week?
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: He's day to day.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: Colvin and Lannon did get activated off the pup, which is great.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: You have Daniel Fale.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: Lay lay coming in, but, you know, Tumor Doge is still down.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_00]: But he's supposed to be back at some point in camp.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_00]: So you have the offensive line injuries, and then you just have the fact that like they got in a really good work this week.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: On both sides of the ball, and especially in that joint practice, what do you need to see?
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: I personally don't want to put Trevor Lawrence out there in a meaningless game, especially without Cole Van Lannon.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_00]: That's my opinion, but you know, whatever they end up doing, you just hope to avoid the I-word.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_00]: That's the big thing.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_00]: You hope to avoid the I-word and you hope to
- 2:42[SPEAKER_00]: get in some good work.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_00]: So for me, I'm much more focused on the backups in this game.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: The young players, the twos, the threes, the guys that are competing to make the roster and make an impact on the roster.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_00]: And so that's what this preview is going to mainly focus on.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_00]: When it comes to the quarterback position,
- 3:02[SPEAKER_00]: Can Nick Mullins bounce back?
- 3:04[SPEAKER_00]: He had a pretty horrible outing against the Saints in pre-season week one.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_00]: Can he bounce back and just look a little bit more confident and confident throwing the football?
- 3:16[SPEAKER_00]: He had some decent moments against the Saints, but he also had a couple really, really bad moments in terms of taking a sack when there was a throw to be made on third down, throwing a horrible interception.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: He got dinged up against the Saints in that game, but he returned to practice this week.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: He had some decent throws in practice this week, so it'll be interesting to see, can he kind of quiet the noise?
- 3:39[SPEAKER_00]: Because there is so much chatter around the Jaguar's backup quarterback position and Nick Mullins not being good enough potentially, which I completely understand.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: He's not one of the more talented backups in football.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_00]: He's just not.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_00]: There's a more talented backup on the Jaguar's roster.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_00]: And that's Carter Bradley.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: He has a lot more arms strength, a lot more athleticism.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: He put both of those things on display against the Saints, although he did have an interception and another turnover worthy throw in my opinion.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_00]: Can he keep ascending?
- 4:10[SPEAKER_00]: Can he do some of the good things that he was able to show against the Saints while trying to kind of limit the negatives?
- 4:20[SPEAKER_00]: You're only throwing three quarters of two-and-a-half quarters worth of throes, that's too much.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_00]: Joey Aguilar, Jaguilar is under active for agent quarterback at a Tennessee Will Heathrow and in completion.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: The guys, one of one, 43 hearts so far in his young preseason career had a bomb to Trevor Pena that kind of set the Jaguar as up to win the game.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, it'll be interesting to see if he gets a little bit more work.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: I would imagine he would get more work.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_00]: It's just, it's kind of all up in the air right now.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that there's anyone out there that has gotten the information that knows for sure kind of how the Jaguars will play this thing out.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: I do want to get another look at Monheim and, you know, Mylam is not going to be up for this one, but Jonah Monheim is a guy who can be a future-starting center, maybe even a future starting guard.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_00]: I like him more at center just from his size profile.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I definitely want to see him out there.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe maybe one drive for pregnant on.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_00]: I think just like from a number standpoint, you might need pregnant on like are you going to send file a layout there already.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know that'll be interesting to see he should have probably arrived in the building.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_00]: Wednesday evening, probably I would say or Thursday night or Thursday morning excuse me is he going to and he's been it's not like he was injured or a street free agent he was on a team he practiced or he he practiced all throughout training camp and and participated in preseason last week so when you get to see Daniel Falele I'm not sure about that one but if so that'll be really interesting other than that on the offensive line I mean
- 6:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it'd be great to see like Rick Ely, Jim Toe, Oberdegg Wu, Drong Christian and Sam Moose for Play Better Football.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not really expecting all that much from them, but it'd be good for them if they can go out there and play better ball.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_00]: That's for sure.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_00]: Um, the rookie wide receivers and tight ends.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, I'm very excited about that.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguar's drafted four total wide receivers and tight ends in this draft class and they're all pretty good players so far.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: It seems like, uh, you know, CJ Williams and Josh Cameron at receiver and then,
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: Nate Borkerture and Tanner Coziel at tight end, it would be nice like we've seen Josh Cameron do a lot of things, we've seen CJ Williams do some things, it would be nice to see Coziel get some things popping in the receiving game, just because last week they targeted him a couple times, wasn't able to get open or make the plays, it'd be cool to see him actually do something in a game, he's done a lot during practices, even in that joint practice the other day.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_00]: He had a nice touchdown catch where he had to go down low.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: He had another play where he absolutely rolled over.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_00]: A panther's defensive back.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, cozy, all getting him going would be cool to see.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: It's not necessary, necessarily, but it would be nice to see.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_00]: And, uh, board pitcher, I'm good with, like, what he is.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: Like, he's seemingly had very reliable hands as a decent route runner and all that stuff.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, what he is as a blocker, just keep developing in that department.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_00]: And, same thing goes for cozy, all in the blocking department.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_00]: One of the players on most excited to see is a undraft of free agent, Jemari Taylor, let's go.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_00]: This guy, he can run the ball.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: I thought based on his college tape like before the Jaguar's picked him up and undraft of free agency, I thought he was gonna be like early to mid day three pick, he ended up not running well and then ends up going undrafted, but I thought that he had
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: a very well-rounded game, past pro, catching the ball out of the backfield, running the ball.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to be looking at him right now in past pro for sure, because Lekla Allen is injured right now.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_00]: If you have to think about who is going to be that third downback, Lekla Allen has to miss any time during the regular season,
- 8:28[SPEAKER_00]: Can Jamari Taylor be that guy?
- 8:30[SPEAKER_00]: That's a question I'm looking to try to find the answers to as of right now.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: Something I'm not questioning though.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: That's the my booky lock of the season.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_00]: It's back in the first one as an absolute no-brainer with the Patriots in Seattle for NFL kickoff.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: My bookie is asking one simple question, will the Seahawks raise their championship banner that night?
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: Of course they will.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_00]: They're defending champ.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: their home opener raising the banner before kickoff as part of the celebration you're getting that bet at plus money odds you're getting paved to say yes they see how it will do the thing the entire night is built around that's the first my booky lock of this season and there will be more coming all season long
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: Get in before kickoff sign up at my bookie with my promo code Duval, all caps to UVAL, and start your season off with a win.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_00]: Any time, anywhere that's my bookie code Duval must be 21 plus 18 plus and select jurisdictions, terms and conditions apply gambling, problemical, one under gambling, or visit 1a under gambling.net for free confidential support, available 24-7.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: So, special teams wise, I mean, the coverage units, they got in some good work in the joint practice, but they did not do a good job covering kicks, executing on the kickoff department against the Saints.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see that cleaned up, absolutely.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_00]: We'd love to see that cleaned up.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_00]: Josh Cameron, I want to see more of him returning.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see him look a little bit more,
- 9:50[SPEAKER_00]: You know, he got his feet wet in the preseason opener, like let's look a little bit more locked in and confident like we know what we're doing, like a vet a little bit more if you want to potentially be that guy for the Jaguars, I still would love to see Parker Washington back there returning puns.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_00]: I know that's somewhat controversial, but those those changed the game.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: So defensively the young defensive lineman, I'm really excited to see like do I really need to see
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe from a number standpoint, you need to get him out there, but I honestly don't feel like I need to see Rook.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_00]: I don't really feel like I need to see BJ Green or Danny Strigo.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_00]: Those guys, I've just seen enough, will they play, do the numbers, likely, right?
- 10:37[SPEAKER_00]: Albert Regis, I'm very excited to see if he can do some good things again.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he had a really good, preseason opener as a rookie, that sack he had was incredible.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see a lot of Brian Thomas Jr. Not the receiver Brian Thomas Jr.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_00]: The past Russia, Brian Thomas Jr.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_00]: Number 57, he's a little shorter, more than many to have past Russia, but as a third down guy who can come in and bring explosiveness and get up off the edge and bend.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_00]: He did a lot last week, I'm excited to see if he can do that again.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I think he's somebody who's really going to make it difficult for the Jaguar to not keep him around.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_00]: And if he continues doing this in the preseason, other teams are going to have to tape of it.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_00]: And then you try to stash him on the practice squad.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe somebody steals him away from me.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what ends up happening.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_00]: But I think that guy can rush on third down in the NFL.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_00]: I feel very confident about that.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: Wesley Williams, Jaguar's fourth round picked that they traded up for at Edge.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: He, I thought, also had a very good first game.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_00]: Pre-season game, stack it, show that you can continue to rush and obviously set the edge.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's what his, his tape shows is a really good edge setter, but you saw some flashes as a past-resurer too, and can he continue to flash.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I'm looking for there.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_00]: Honestly, I linebacker, I don't need to see Ventra Miller.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_00]: I just don't.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_00]: Branson Comes could he probably actually use some more in-game seasoning?
- 12:03[SPEAKER_00]: I think so.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_00]: You know, he was a little nervous that looked like against the Saints.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_00]: I think he needs to go out and show it a little bit more.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_00]: And get his feet wet a little bit more in actual game settings before the regular season starts.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_00]: He's actually going to be out there for you during the regular season.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_00]: He needs to show a little bit more in my opinion.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_00]: And he did some good things, but there was also some plays where it was just like, what's going on here.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_00]: At safety, Caleb Ransov probably needs the work, just because he missed his rookie year, and he's probably your third safety.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_00]: So you want to see him kind of get acclimated more to this NFL game.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_00]: Jalen Husky, obviously, you're going to see out there.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_00]: That'll be exciting.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_00]: He had a really fun game on the defensive side of the ball, Rayon Lane is a good player.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_00]: came around so many Craig probably won't get a ton of work, but he's somebody who the Jack Wars had as an undrafted for agent last year they've kept him in the building and all he's done is kind of do everything they ask and make plays and so that's somebody to keep an eye on who probably has zero chance to actually be on the team outside of, you know, the I word, but I think that he's a good player to corners, corners they need to
- 13:22[SPEAKER_00]: Christian Braswell, Corey Ballantine, Drew Barman Hammond, they need to play a little better football, little cleaner football.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: You had passenger appearances, you had receivers run and wide open down the field.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_00]: Braswell and Ballantine really struggled allowing some deeper completions.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_00]: Muhammad had a couple penalties basically, which was,
- 13:45[SPEAKER_00]: issue with him that day.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, none of his completions were like big gainers or anything that like that that he allowed.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, obviously he fought back and got the game winning pass break up.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_00]: So he deserves credit for that.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_00]: But I think those guys need to step up and play a little better ball.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_00]: And if they do, the jacks even could have a great day.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_00]: If those corners play better football, the jackboys do even, it's going to absolutely have a great day.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, I mean, I'm fired up for this one.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_00]: When we get in kicked off 730 pm Eastern Time tonight, gonna be a fun one.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_00]: Battle of the Big Cats, the 1995 NFL expansion.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_00]: They're going after it again.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all tuning in.
