- 0:28Hey, everybody. Good morning.
- 0:29From the porch. It's pouring, pouring, pouring.
- 0:32So we're on the porch today. OK Are you part of your own
- 0:36problem? I know sometimes I'm part of my
- 0:39own problem, and recognizing that I'm part of my own problem
- 0:44is part of the cure. So I want to be part of the
- 0:47cure, not part of the disease. And just even recognizing that
- 0:52little tiny piece, just even being able to say I want to be
- 0:55part of the cure, not part of the disease helps me to detach
- 1:00from the things that are the disease and how I think how how
- 1:04I show up with particular things.
- 1:07So we all know that we start off the year typically we're a gung
- 1:12ho. We're like, OK, let's go, we're
- 1:14going to just jump in. We're going to be great.
- 1:16You know, we pick our word, we do all this stuff, but then it
- 1:19kind of dribbles off. It kind of just wanes over the
- 1:23course of the next 30 days going into February.
- 1:27But it all starts this first week.
- 1:29It all starts when we start to recognize that we're so excited.
- 1:34We start to take on things that might not be part of the cure,
- 1:40so to speak, with their part of the disease.
- 1:41And that big piece is still allowing things that we know to
- 1:46be true about other people to enter into our head and not do
- 1:51anything about it. So I'm going to give you a, for
- 1:53instance, let's say you're trying to grow your business
- 1:56right now. Let's say you're trying to grow
- 1:58something or you're trying to do something and you know a
- 2:02particular person being involved in that is not going to be a
- 2:05long term value to you. You know that because that
- 2:09person is going to not do their job.
- 2:12They're not going to do it the level at which you want it to.
- 2:15They're going to show up marginally.
- 2:18They're going to be an 80 percenter, 70 percenter in in
- 2:22their output of things. And sometimes you have to look
- 2:25at that with people you really do.
- 2:26It doesn't matter who it is. You have to look at it that way.
- 2:29And you have to say to yourself, OK, I I need to decide what I
- 2:33want to do with this person moving forward and then it
- 2:35clicks in when you go. I feel bad for them.
- 2:38I don't want to have to get rid of them.
- 2:40I don't want to have to have the hard talk with them.
- 2:42I just, I just wish that they would just step up.
- 2:45Maybe if I give them another chance this will be OK and I'm
- 2:50going to go back to something. If you're a long term listener,
- 2:53I've you've heard me say this before.
- 2:55It's Maya Angelou quote of when someone shows you who they are,
- 2:59believe them, believe them, And when they come in and they are
- 3:05just being the same as they always have been and they're not
- 3:09making effort, why would you change your approach?
- 3:14And that is when you start going into this place of being, like
- 3:19you have to evaluate your approach.
- 3:22At that point you have to say, am I now part of the disease
- 3:26like they are part of the disease or am I part of the
- 3:28cure? And when it, and it's
- 3:31fundamental, it's across the board.
- 3:33It's not just with people in business.
- 3:34I use that as an example because there's so much activity right
- 3:38now in that for us typically where we're trying to fix our
- 3:41businesses or add to our businesses or cultivate new
- 3:44business beginning of the year. But it also takes place in our
- 3:48diets, it takes place in our habits, it takes place
- 3:51everywhere. So a great example of that I
- 3:54went through yesterday was my son and the Friday night Mexican
- 3:57food. That's like our tradition.
- 3:59And I'm not going to stop going, but I'm doing whole 30.
- 4:03So all of a sudden here I am presented in the Mexican
- 4:07restaurant with the chips, the salsa, the mocha hete, all the
- 4:12food that everybody loves. And I have to decide, am I part
- 4:16of the disease or am I part of the problem?
- 4:18Am I going to make a decision to to secure the outcome of the
- 4:22whole 30? Or am I going to make a decision
- 4:24that says, no, I'm going to just eat with everybody else?
- 4:27And I made the decision to secure my whole 30 because I
- 4:30committed to that and my son was like, oh, you're not going to
- 4:32have that. And I was like, no.
- 4:34So I just had meat and and guacamole because that was what
- 4:39worked. That was part of what my plan
- 4:42was. Was it hard?
- 4:44Yes, because nothing is better than chips and salsa or queso
- 4:49and and salsa and chips. It's just not.
- 4:52It's really good. So and it's our favorite Mexican
- 4:56restaurant and it's easy to default back, but you have to
- 5:00not be part of the your own disease.
- 5:03You've got to be part of the cure.
- 5:05So you've got to look at things right now fundamentally through
- 5:08the eyes of someone who has already achieved the outcome and
- 5:13says no, that that is definitely part of the disease and this is
- 5:16part of the cure. And those words are harsh, but
- 5:19I'm using them for a reason because that will help you
- 5:22delineate where you need to go. So start looking through those
- 5:26filters this month moving forward, and really work at that
- 5:31because that is a huge help and a huge distinction.
- 5:33All right, my friends, I'll see you tomorrow.
- 5:35And I hope you have a blessed day and I hope to goodness I'm
- 5:38going to have sunshine. All right, I'll see you then.
- 5:40Bye.
