Transcript
- 0:00Welcome back. Here are the six quick questions. So question number one, what's your why? Why are you waking up every day and working on branch basics? Because too many people are suffering, honestly, and we truly believe that we can help them. And...
- 0:28I have no doubt that if people really take to heart what we're offering in our course and if they start using our products, they will benefit. And a lot of times that can be in really major life-changing ways. So definitely just to help people. Question number two is what's been your favorite marketing moment over the last 15 years?
- 0:59Oh, goodness. What comes to mind, just because it was more recent, it wasn't even, it wasn't me, but Allison, my co-founder, was on the Skinny Confidential podcast. And it was so exciting to see
- 1:15like the buzz that happened from that and the boost in sales, it was wild. So it was really, it was a really fun time for our team. Oh my gosh, we need to link it in the show notes so everyone can also go and listen to that.
- 1:30Yes. And apparently it's been one of her best episodes or she, she was telling someone else that it's been one of her most popular episodes. So really cool. Wow. Cool. Love that. Love that. And again, it's all about, it was, it's all about our mission. Like Alison hardly talked about the product.
- 1:48Amazing. I love that. But it actually like we could still see a direct boost in sales from it. So very cool. Very cool. Question number three is what's a go-to business resource for you, whether it's like a book or a podcast or a newsletter or something that you like to learn from? Yeah. I haven't listened to it in a while, but I used to love that podcast, How I Built This.
- 2:19Love talking to our CFO. I mean, sorry, well, our CFO and our CEO. Our CEO, just like he's the one that kind of like listens to all the stuff and reads all the stuff. And then I just get the clip notes from him. Love that. Shout out to the CEO and the CFO. Question number four, how do you win the day? What are your AM or PM rituals and habits that keep you feeling happy and motivated and successful? Yeah.
- 2:47Gosh, it's been really hard to get like a morning routine down lately. My son is still nursing and I nurse him in the mornings and then I'm like rushing to kind of like get our day started. I have three kids, but when I can...
- 3:03Even if I don't have time to have quiet time myself, when I can like sit at the breakfast table and read a book or read passage from the Bible to my kids like that just really helps me set my day off. Right. And I love like turning on music and we have a little dance party before, you know, we get going. And those mornings are the best mornings, like movement, laughing, um,
- 3:30And then ideally, if we can get outside for a few minutes, barefoot on the ground and get some sunlight in our eyes. So those are kind of like my morning. Yeah, like ideal. Great mornings.
- 3:42And then at night, oh, and I will say for morning, I don't really take a lot of supplements, but kind of the one thing that I do do every morning is take my Kintan isotonic. I give my kids isotonic and I take the hypertonic. It's by Quicksilver Scientific and it's basically seawater, like basically as close to our blood plasma as possible, but it's full of trace minerals.
- 4:11Yeah, it's Q-U-I-N-T-O-N. I always say Keaton. Some people say Quentin. I don't know. But... And what does it do? It is just... It does every... I mean, it's just so good for simulating the parasympathetic mode and replenishing all of our trace minerals, electrolytes. Just good for brain, for body, pretty much everything.
- 4:38So I feel like that's kind of like my go-to like multivitamin almost, you know. And then nighttime, you know, I try and wear my blue blockers at night. I will admit that I sometimes just don't like to look through the orange and so I don't wear them. But like right now, it's 9 p.m. where I am and I don't have the watch.
- 5:02But anyway, I've been really trying to go to bed early. So as a business owner and as someone starting up a business, I know you all can appreciate there are just times where you have to stay up late and you've got to get stuff done. And so I have had many, many of those in my life. But thankfully, I am at a place where I really am trying to
- 5:26Go to bed earlier and just know that it can wait. It's not going to be the end of the world if it doesn't get done tonight. For most things, obviously, there are some things that have deadlifts. But I will likely be more productive when I am working on this tomorrow. And I have found so many times when I stay up late, I end up just like taking so much longer to get things done because I'm like half falling asleep as I'm trying to like write something out.
- 5:54So anyway, I've been trying to go to bed earlier and wake up earlier. And I have found that has been super helpful in just the way I feel in my productivity. I need to try and do the same. I know. It's not easy, but yeah. Question number six. What is the worst money mistake you've made in the business? And how much did it cost you? Oh, goodness. We've made several. The thing that comes to mind right now is like,
- 6:22just influencers or podcast sponsorships that we've done, you know, really thinking, oh, this is going to be so great or, or I hope this is so great because this is a lot of money. And it's just not really that fruitful. You know, there's not much conversion or ROI. So
- 6:42I can't think of like one in particular, but I know that there's even been like a time where we were trying to test run, like working with like a group that worked with a bunch of different sponsorship on podcasts. And it was a big chunk of money to do that. And it just didn't pan out. What are we talking like?
- 7:0520 grand? Yeah, a little over 20 grand. Yeah, a lot of money. Gosh, okay, got it. Yep, that's a crappy one. Yeah. Thanks for sharing. Last question, question number six, what is just a crazy story, good or bad, from your journey in building Branch Basics?
- 7:27Okay, this is not really about building branch basics, but this is a crazy story that I heard the other day that I just think is so cool. So I'm going to share. I was talking with actually a new hire and she was visiting with her sister who lives in Wheeling, West Virginia, which is a small town. And her sister was just recovering from surgery and had someone
- 7:55come bring her food, someone from her church that she didn't know very well. And she started, she was saying, oh, have you heard of branch? And before she could have been finished, the girl who brought her food said basics. And she was like, yeah, my sister just started working for them, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 8:11And she's like, oh, my goodness, we have like a club at church of women that are all obsessed with branch basics. We have a branch basics club and we all get on and we talk about like different things that that we've like started doing in our lives or things that we're cooking or products we're using that we've all learned from branch basics. Oh, my God. I love that. That is so cool. Wow. Yeah.
- 8:36really crazy and cool. Very powerful. Oh my gosh. Well, thank you so much for coming on the show. I have loved having you back on to share all of these amazing learnings. And I'm so excited to continue being your hype girl. Oh, thank you so much. This was so fun.
