- 0:02It's Monday, and you know what that means. Welcome to Have Faith. Let it begin.
- 0:10Podcast of inspiration. It's a podcast of hope.
- 0:15It's a podcast of faith, and it's a podcast of friendship.
- 0:19Here is your host, Angel Santana, and special co-host, Dr. E.
- 0:25We're a three-podcast guy. That's it, man. Let's rock and roll. In three, two, one.
- 0:33Hello, everyone. Do not adjust your TV sets.
- 0:37It is back to the drawing board, but I mean that in a good way.
- 0:41Why? Because we're resetting.
- 0:42We're resetting because it is Memorial Day.
- 0:45Happy Memorial Day to everyone. And before we actually start it, let me do this.
- 0:51It's a Monday. It's Have Faith, Let It Begin.
- 0:55This is Angel. Dr. E is back. And today we're enjoying a little day off while
- 1:00taking time to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate
- 1:06sacrifice for our country this Memorial Day.
- 1:08To all of our military families, veterans, and those remembering loved ones today, we thank you.
- 1:14We honor you. We will keep you in our prayers.
- 1:18Now it's time for us to entertain you.
- 1:21So with that being said, after your meaningful weekend, I've got a story for
- 1:26you. And trust me, this one has been weeks in the making.
- 1:30I've been following along. You all been following along with the battle of the woodchuck in the yard.
- 1:37And I've got breaking news. I want to hear it. This little guy, Dr.
- 1:42E, has been treating my backyard like an all-you-can-eat buffet.
- 1:46Yes. Digging holes, sneaking around, outsmarting me at every turn.
- 1:50I tried everything. I mean everything.
- 1:53But this week, ladies and gentlemen...
- 1:55I finally caught him. Oh, Angel, tell me more. I got him. I got him.
- 2:00But first of all, Dr. E, how are you, buddy?
- 2:03Oh, man. Happy Memorial Day, everybody. And our blessings, of course,
- 2:07to all of our military and, of course, our fallen heroes.
- 2:10But Angel, speaking of the fallen groundhog, tell me a little bit about,
- 2:15well, first of all, what did you name him?
- 2:18Oh, this guy's name is, well, I should actually change it because we can get
- 2:23some letters. All right. I'm going to change it real quick.
- 2:25We're just going to call him, we're going to call him cordo,
- 2:29which is cordo, which I'm going to, well, in Spanish, it means,
- 2:34you know, a little bit chunky, but I don't want to be, you know,
- 2:36I don't want to name call, but he's a big dude. He's a big dude. Let's put it that way.
- 2:41So tell me the circumstances of his capture. Well, listen, I finally caught
- 2:44him and I believe it or not, the secret weapon was raspberries. That's right.
- 2:50Not traps, not fancy stores, not some complicated strategy, just good old-fashioned raspberries, buddy.
- 2:59Yes. Yes. And so today, we're going to talk about persistence, patience.
- 3:03Well, tell me. Tell me about, so what did you do with the raspberries?
- 3:08Well, it's funny how something small can consume your attention, right?
- 3:12This woodchuck became part of my daily routine. So what I did was every morning
- 3:17I'd look outside wondering, did he come back?
- 3:20Did he dig another hole? What did he do to destroy everything now? Right?
- 3:24So the more I tried to force the solution, the worse it seemed to get.
- 3:28And I tried different foods in the trap.
- 3:31I moved the cage around. I watched videos online.
- 3:34I was preparing for some wildlife championship.
- 3:37And every single time this woodchuck went out, smart me. But.
- 3:40Something hit me. Ariel was eating raspberries one day and she didn't want to
- 3:44finish them. And I don't like to throw out food.
- 3:46So I said, well, let me put raspberries in the trap. And that was it.
- 3:50Somehow this was the answer. And honestly, it reminded me that sometimes in
- 3:55life we over complicate things.
- 3:58So I looked in the trap one day and there he was.
- 4:01And it was like the raspberries were still all over his mouth. Oh, poor Gordo.
- 4:05That's it. That's it. Where did Gordito end up? Where did you end up letting
- 4:10him loose? Well, you know, we just got him.
- 4:13So he's in the trap right now. I've got, I fed him.
- 4:17I've been feeding him because I don't want to leave him out there.
- 4:19I'm trying to find gloves that will not allow him to bite me.
- 4:23So when I pick up the trap and throw it in the truck, I can get him over to
- 4:26Winding Hills or somewhere far and release him back into a wild.
- 4:30That's beautiful. I have this vision. I don't know if all of our half-faith
- 4:34family out there have ever seen the movie Caddyshack,
- 4:38but I could see Angel dressed like Bill Murray with some C4 throwing down the
- 4:44dynamite down into those holes.
- 4:46Let me tell you, we've tried every single problem and with bigger plans,
- 4:51louder reactions, and more frustrations, but sometimes patience,
- 4:55consistency, and trying something simple can finally open the door to success.
- 5:00So let's go to the metaphor, Angel.
- 5:04So we honor our, our brave soldiers. So persistence, simplicity,
- 5:10and relocation to a new home at a state park. Are those the metaphors this week?
- 5:17It is, it is. And you know what? There were moments I wanted to give up.
- 5:21And just like the woodchuck on the backyard, I thought about our brave soldiers
- 5:26who did not give up and how they stayed with it and how they realized that you
- 5:32have to do everything you can to survive, right?
- 5:35So today, wherever you are, whatever frustrations you're facing, keep going.
- 5:40I mean, your raspberries moment might be closer than you think,
- 5:44but as we honor Memorial Day today, let us also remember the power of sacrifice. That's really the key.
- 5:51Hey, listen, lead us in prayer, my brother. Yes.
- 5:54So let's talk about, as we close out, Heavenly Father, thank you for sacrifice,
- 5:59perseverance, gratitude, freedom was never free.
- 6:03And we thank those who gave everything so that we could have the opportunities
- 6:08and moments that we enjoy today.
- 6:11So if you're a veteran, if you're in the armed forces, if you're right now overseas, we thank you.
- 6:18We want you to know that the last 24 hours, Dr.
- 6:23E and the Croc Podcast, Have Faith That It Begins, has delivered a one-two punch
- 6:27and honored our brave men and women.
- 6:30And we want you to listen to them. We are now offering you an opportunity to
- 6:35let us know what you think of
- 6:36yesterday's Croc Podcast episode And the Half-Faith Let It Begin episode,
- 6:41because if you write to us, you're getting a free bracelet.
- 6:45You get a 25-pound woodchuck named Gordo. Yeah, yeah.
- 6:51There goes our views right there. But God bless you guys.
- 6:55We are excited about today's day off and we want everybody to have a good time.
- 6:58We hope you got entertained and we want you to know that we love you and we support you.
- 7:02May God be with you. May he shine his light upon you and grant each and every
- 7:05single one of you peace on earth and never forget.
