Latest / HEAVY Music Interviews / Steady As She Goes With LUCAS STONE And RUCKUS From HAMMERS
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: My name is Ruckers. I played drums and Hammers. I'm
- 0:02Speaker 1: sitting beside.
- 0:03Speaker 2: This bloke and Lucas Stan and I scream and sing
- 0:08Speaker 2: and playing guitar for Hammers.
- 0:10Speaker 3: Nice to meet your fantastic guys. I couldn't have described
- 0:13Speaker 3: it any better myself.
- 0:17Speaker 4: So the reason we have a several today is that
- 0:20Speaker 4: Hammers finally released your debut album, Death Bubbles this Friday,
- 0:24Speaker 4: January the twenty third.
- 0:25Speaker 3: So personally, how you feel about it.
- 0:29Speaker 5: I'm excited.
- 0:29Speaker 1: I'm excited for it to come out.
- 0:32Speaker 6: It's been a long time in the making, so it'll
- 0:36Speaker 6: be good once it's out there circulating around doing the things.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm excited too. It's been a bit of work.
- 0:44Speaker 2: You know, it's work, but it's worked nonetheless. And to
- 0:48Speaker 2: see the little baby come to fruition and I know
- 0:51Speaker 2: that it's going to be running around screened, everyone's pretty exciting.
- 0:55Speaker 4: I suppose you guys aren't like most bands though, Like
- 0:58Speaker 4: it's been eight years or so for you to get
- 1:00Speaker 4: out your first album, so you've already got a bit
- 1:02Speaker 4: of an existing fan base. Are you still nervous about
- 1:05Speaker 4: it coming out, like to see what people think, or
- 1:06Speaker 4: you're happy in the fact that you know people love
- 1:09Speaker 4: you anyway.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Ah, I think I'm always, no matter what to do,
- 1:17Speaker 2: an equal parts nervous and don't give a fuck what
- 1:20Speaker 2: people think kind of person. So here's part of me
- 1:23Speaker 2: for sure as a writer. You know, I've been doing
- 1:25Speaker 2: this a long time and Hammers Hammers haven't released the
- 1:28Speaker 2: full length album yet. We kind of did that strategically
- 1:31Speaker 2: so we could sort of growl as a band and
- 1:34Speaker 2: become what we are and do that through a couple
- 1:36Speaker 2: of EPs. So we have released I guess what would
- 1:38Speaker 2: be called one album if you'd put two EPs together.
- 1:42Speaker 5: But yeah, like I think I'm excitingly nervous, bro. You know,
- 1:46Speaker 5: like you kind of.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Essentially as a band, you're always like if you're a band,
- 1:53Speaker 2: that should be a band the way a band should be.
- 1:54Speaker 5: You kind of do it for you, guys.
- 1:56Speaker 2: You do it for your souls as much as you
- 1:58Speaker 2: pass it on to the fans and whoever comes into
- 2:00Speaker 2: your camp over time, Like you are essentially doing a
- 2:04Speaker 2: selfish thing. So we're excited about what we've done and
- 2:07Speaker 2: we can't wait to get it out. But there's obviously
- 2:08Speaker 2: like it's like just handing your kids out of little
- 2:11Speaker 2: babysity you don't know, you.
- 2:12Speaker 3: Know, but you actually mentioned the selfish part, like I.
- 2:19Speaker 4: Make a direction towards that in the review when you
- 2:21Speaker 4: read it, Like the selfish is just the fact that
- 2:24Speaker 4: you can tell me you haven't made this album for
- 2:26Speaker 4: you guys, Like if people jump on board, great, but
- 2:29Speaker 4: you haven't Tutney Corners to make people like it, or
- 2:32Speaker 4: you haven't thrown in what's expected, you know, not of
- 2:34Speaker 4: to repeal the masters. It's just an album that you
- 2:38Speaker 4: obviously love and if people want to jump on board, good,
- 2:40Speaker 4: If they don't, well.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Pretty much, Yeah, yeah, I think so, I think.
- 2:49Speaker 6: I think yeah, that's exactly right. We've definitely made it.
- 2:53Speaker 6: I think we just stay true to like Lucas's writing.
- 2:55Speaker 6: It's pretty prolific, so like there's no rush to get
- 2:59Speaker 6: this started the line, there's no deadline or reading. So
- 3:03Speaker 6: the songs just had to stand up for themselves and
- 3:05Speaker 6: we played them in the parts that we wanted to
- 3:08Speaker 6: hear and that we wanted to play, and you know.
- 3:11Speaker 1: That's what it is.
- 3:12Speaker 5: Yeah, definitely.
- 3:13Speaker 2: It's like I feel like, whether it's as far as
- 3:18Speaker 2: like mentioning my writing with the Amazon or the Sali stuff,
- 3:22Speaker 2: or how or whatever. More music's weird. Okay, I probably
- 3:28Speaker 2: I'd probably rather. I would definitely rather that and have
- 3:31Speaker 2: I think I mentioned this to a previous interviewer. It's
- 3:34Speaker 2: just like my taste in music, and the guys kind
- 3:37Speaker 2: of meet me in a similar spot.
- 3:39Speaker 5: I think we're all of a similar ilk. We do
- 3:42Speaker 5: like what you call scene music in certain ways.
- 3:44Speaker 2: But most of the bands that have moved me over
- 3:46Speaker 2: time always the bands that generally hurt people first and
- 3:49Speaker 2: make you work for what it is that they're doing,
- 3:52Speaker 2: and they tend to stay around for longer in your take,
- 3:56Speaker 2: in your taste bank, and you're listening bank than something
- 3:59Speaker 2: that is immediate and part of a scene where you
- 4:02Speaker 2: know that cookie has been.
- 4:04Speaker 5: Toutting a lot of people with the same shape. Like
- 4:06Speaker 5: I feel like.
- 4:07Speaker 2: If that's going to be five dudes kind of common
- 4:11Speaker 2: ground and there's one person bringing like a flavor and
- 4:14Speaker 2: we all respond to that flavor, and then it's going
- 4:16Speaker 2: to have you know, the injection. Everyone everyone's tasting there
- 4:19Speaker 2: on a quest to be a bit different without meaning.
- 4:21Speaker 5: It, and that's kind of when they come out.
- 4:24Speaker 4: Yeah, good luck with answering this next question, because I
- 4:26Speaker 4: have to listen to the album, I'd have no fucking
- 4:28Speaker 4: no hope at all, but it's tried. The album musically,
- 4:31Speaker 4: do is what you were going for with it?
- 4:33Speaker 5: Is okay? I guess taste makers and scenes and stuff.
- 4:39Speaker 2: It's basically the things you love about post hardcore alternative
- 4:46Speaker 2: books like nineties influenced alternative heavy music. You know, it's
- 4:52Speaker 2: about us rock punk. It's got the things in there,
- 4:57Speaker 2: and I have a massive love for alls and suff
- 5:00Speaker 2: of metal. So you copping and all that stuff, but
- 5:03Speaker 2: what you're copping is an individuality that is genuinely authentically
- 5:08Speaker 2: the five dudes that have put it together, but most
- 5:11Speaker 2: importantly an Australian band. I feel like if you go
- 5:15Speaker 2: back to the golden era of Australian music in the
- 5:17Speaker 2: eighties with bands like mid Not Oil and In Excess
- 5:20Speaker 2: and all those bands that had such a particular sound
- 5:23Speaker 2: that no country on earth could kind of imitate. And
- 5:27Speaker 2: I think if you go forward and listen to bands,
- 5:30Speaker 2: you know, I guess like Your Dogs and Carnivals and
- 5:37Speaker 2: then into the heavier role, there's a couple of select
- 5:39Speaker 2: bands that I would pick your North Lanes. We have
- 5:44Speaker 2: a distinct way of doing things, So yeah, I guess
- 5:48Speaker 2: that the genre is the first post hardcore all kind
- 5:51Speaker 2: of metal rock.
- 5:53Speaker 5: But it's azzy.
- 5:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I hope to say this as a compliment.
- 5:56Speaker 4: It's mentally but the only one band that came to
- 5:59Speaker 4: mind that and it was only because of the vocals
- 6:01Speaker 4: in some parts, because twenty eight Days like at their peak,
- 6:05Speaker 4: like just some of them, the vocals whatever. Of that's like,
- 6:07Speaker 4: but that's the only band that I could possibly draw
- 6:09Speaker 4: reference to you through the whole.
- 6:12Speaker 5: I can't. Oh, I'm not going to stay. I can't.
- 6:14Speaker 2: I was never a fan of twenty eight Days stylistically
- 6:17Speaker 2: as a band. I've never actually I've never noticed.
- 6:19Speaker 4: It was more of the rappiest sort of vocals, like
- 6:21Speaker 4: in parts of sort of spoken, rappiest sort of vocals.
- 6:24Speaker 4: It's reminder you rip it up a few times.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Probably because both bands have been influenced by olymp Biscuit
- 6:30Speaker 2: and Raise against the Machine at sometimes and we're Aussie, yeah,
- 6:36Speaker 2: and we also I guess as far as modern bands
- 6:38Speaker 2: like that goes like we're you know, we are fans
- 6:41Speaker 2: straight from the path and I don't know, yeah, like
- 6:43Speaker 2: that's that's a wild reference, but I'll read that.
- 6:46Speaker 3: Fuck it well.
- 6:47Speaker 4: I think that's the beauty of your music, though, it
- 6:49Speaker 4: was like, you can't pin it down to one thing,
- 6:51Speaker 4: Like I can say that I found that influence in there,
- 6:53Speaker 4: but you guys have never heard it, and I'm sure
- 6:55Speaker 4: there's going to be things for different people there. So
- 6:57Speaker 4: it's like it's a truer malgamation of stuff was without
- 7:01Speaker 4: imitating any other bands, I guess.
- 7:05Speaker 5: Yeah, it's good to hear. It's good for yeah.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:12Speaker 4: The album starts with the trade ape Shit, which starts
- 7:15Speaker 4: with the bat line what the fuck is going on?
- 7:18Speaker 4: Like is that more of a statement or is it
- 7:20Speaker 4: a question for the band?
- 7:22Speaker 2: N It definitely is bro Like it's that whole song
- 7:25Speaker 2: I based around the nineties movie and I've never done
- 7:28Speaker 2: this before as a writer. I've never based any songs
- 7:31Speaker 2: off a movie, but I had a remember the movie.
- 7:34Speaker 3: Falling Down with my Yeah, fucking great movie.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Yeah, So as a kid growing up like and we
- 7:40Speaker 2: all come from some version of hell in some way
- 7:42Speaker 2: for Western kids, and I think as a kid growing
- 7:45Speaker 2: up in the nineties, I resonated that on a level
- 7:48Speaker 2: with that on a level that resonated with me on
- 7:50Speaker 2: a level that it's probably the first movie i'd seen
- 7:53Speaker 2: that kind of touched on the effects of what we
- 7:56Speaker 2: now know is like bipolar disorder or sabematic depression and
- 7:59Speaker 2: someone trying to a function in a world that's not fit,
- 8:02Speaker 2: that we're not fit or not made to function in.
- 8:06Speaker 2: And that movie really does in like a dark comedy
- 8:10Speaker 2: way like touch on that. Or this dude's just going
- 8:13Speaker 2: to fucking work you fucking can't stand the traffic and
- 8:16Speaker 2: just wigs out his card and goes on a rampage
- 8:20Speaker 2: and just gets the ships because he can't get breakfast
- 8:22Speaker 2: at lunchtime, and sort.
- 8:24Speaker 3: Of thing we all want to do, we just let
- 8:25Speaker 3: none of us do it.
- 8:28Speaker 2: The fuck is going on bit is like bro rt,
- 8:33Speaker 2: what the fuck is actually going on?
- 8:35Speaker 5: It's kind of literally it.
- 8:37Speaker 3: Yeah, right.
- 8:38Speaker 4: That song is a bit of a pleasant surprise to you,
- 8:41Speaker 4: Like it ranges from the rap metal to almost beautiful harmonies.
- 8:44Speaker 4: There's a Spanish sound and breakdown and then there's an
- 8:47Speaker 4: almighty heaviest fuck breakdown like it's so all over the
- 8:51Speaker 4: shop as the song, but it sets up the rest
- 8:53Speaker 4: of the album nicely.
- 8:54Speaker 3: I think it sort of shows you to.
- 8:56Speaker 4: Throw expectations out of the window and just prepare for
- 8:59Speaker 4: whatever the up to come.
- 9:00Speaker 3: At xt.
- 9:03Speaker 6: Yeah, I think it's I particularly love this song, and
- 9:06Speaker 6: I think this was the first song that I tracked
- 9:08Speaker 6: drums for, so it's in looking back at the whole record.
- 9:12Speaker 6: For me, this is the oldest song in the quiver
- 9:15Speaker 6: of all of them, so I haven't actually thought about
- 9:17Speaker 6: it in terms of setting up the record, but that's
- 9:20Speaker 6: a really good point. It kind of does have a
- 9:21Speaker 6: cross section of everything that you can take from from
- 9:26Speaker 6: start to finish. I think it's yeah, Ape Shit and
- 9:30Speaker 6: Death Wobbles definitely have that flavor.
- 9:33Speaker 5: M hmm.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Yeah, they definitely got like a yeah, they're showing all
- 9:37Speaker 2: all the colors that you're gonna You said it basically,
- 9:40Speaker 2: you said it best. I think when you're technically pretty
- 9:43Speaker 2: much explained the question the way, it kind of does
- 9:45Speaker 2: set you up, like I didn't really think of it
- 9:47Speaker 2: like that, I know, with the collection of riffs that
- 9:50Speaker 2: go the sort of other majority of Ape Shit. It
- 9:53Speaker 2: was actually the first of the first songs I wrote
- 9:57Speaker 2: were fucked around and found out and ape shit as
- 9:59Speaker 2: collections are, and then I kind of, you know, like
- 10:02Speaker 2: ended up with those two.
- 10:03Speaker 5: Songs out of them.
- 10:04Speaker 2: So yeah, that was definitely an early song in the
- 10:06Speaker 2: piece and yeah, like Ruppus says, I think they probably
- 10:10Speaker 2: do show what's coming.
- 10:12Speaker 4: I think I said in the review that at the
- 10:14Speaker 4: end of that one song, I felt like I heard
- 10:16Speaker 4: all twelve tracks on the album in one for minute lot.
- 10:20Speaker 3: That's great.
- 10:23Speaker 5: It's funny. Like like I said before, I feel like
- 10:26Speaker 5: I like music like that, you know what I mean.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Definitely, it's kind of if you like, again referring back
- 10:35Speaker 2: to older bands as you're coming up and grunt and stuff.
- 10:37Speaker 2: I feel like if you pick a band like sound Garden,
- 10:42Speaker 2: like he Is Legend, which obviously a decent modern influence
- 10:44Speaker 2: on hammers, those bands are bands that kind of do
- 10:48Speaker 2: every part of all the rocks and all the metals
- 10:50Speaker 2: that you want, and they kind of hide all these
- 10:53Speaker 2: crazy hooks in places that you don't expect them. So
- 10:55Speaker 2: it takes like, you know, ten fifteen listeners before you
- 10:59Speaker 2: start common rewards, and then you might find something like
- 11:01Speaker 2: a year down the track you just start holding on
- 11:04Speaker 2: that was like a part of a trip. As the
- 11:05Speaker 2: holy fuck, like I've been there the whole time. It
- 11:08Speaker 2: never hit me properly until now. I kind of I
- 11:11Speaker 2: like that stuff. So yeah, she can't.
- 11:16Speaker 3: Just by the name, says.
- 11:21Speaker 4: The press release says that Death Wobbles marks a significant
- 11:24Speaker 4: progressions for Hammers.
- 11:25Speaker 3: Can can you elaborate on that for us? Oh?
- 11:28Speaker 6: Yeah, I hear the progression in terms of, like what
- 11:33Speaker 6: we said earlier, we intentionally did the two EPs to
- 11:36Speaker 6: kind of we're all mates and we've been doing this
- 11:39Speaker 6: for a while. I was in Helm with Lucas and Dario,
- 11:44Speaker 6: but there's been a bit of time between that, and
- 11:46Speaker 6: we kind of just use that as an opportunity to
- 11:48Speaker 6: learn each other and play live and get a feel
- 11:50Speaker 6: for what we can do, what we're capable of.
- 11:53Speaker 1: I guess that, combined with all.
- 11:55Speaker 6: The shows and all the tours we've done, our ability
- 11:58Speaker 6: to pull things off kind of got bigger and put
- 12:03Speaker 6: each other off.
- 12:04Speaker 3: I wasn't, but I was thinking that.
- 12:11Speaker 6: I think that, like this is a combination of like
- 12:13Speaker 6: all those hours you know, on the road, all the
- 12:16Speaker 6: shows were played, and I guess, as as with the
- 12:20Speaker 6: first two EPs, writing those songs, kind of finding out
- 12:24Speaker 6: where our limits lie, what we what we can do,
- 12:27Speaker 6: and you know, and yeah, we've definitely.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Stretched ourselves wide open for Death Wolves.
- 12:35Speaker 4: Yeah, something tells me you guys are a long way
- 12:38Speaker 4: of finding out where your limits are just quietly.
- 12:43Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 12:43Speaker 5: Man, well that's that's the thing again. I think I
- 12:46Speaker 5: said this last week in an interview.
- 12:49Speaker 2: It's like I feel like with Hammers, you know, like
- 12:53Speaker 2: people people search for comfort when they listen to a band,
- 12:55Speaker 2: they search for familiar ground. Like I'm only saying that
- 12:58Speaker 2: generally speaken because I know that I don't don't really
- 13:00Speaker 2: always try to find something that makes me.
- 13:02Speaker 5: Go, fuck, what's that thing?
- 13:04Speaker 2: But I think it's a classic thing that we all
- 13:06Speaker 2: listen to a thing and try to liken it to
- 13:08Speaker 2: what we know, you know what I mean. It's personly,
- 13:09Speaker 2: Oh it sounds like such and such or whatever else.
- 13:11Speaker 2: And I definitely am in the mind frame with this
- 13:14Speaker 2: band in particular, like as a writer, I've got my
- 13:18Speaker 2: long standing things that have contributed to me becoming whatever
- 13:22Speaker 2: I am as a writer, and then we've got that
- 13:24Speaker 2: as a band and how we put it together. But
- 13:27Speaker 2: I feel like if Hammers has a thing, the thing
- 13:31Speaker 2: is to kind of not have a.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Thing, you know what I mean?
- 13:39Speaker 5: Yeah, like it sounds like that Bruce lepe wait, I
- 13:42Speaker 5: can't think.
- 13:42Speaker 2: I can't remember what it is, but he says something
- 13:44Speaker 2: like have like no style or whatever is is like
- 13:47Speaker 2: is the style.
- 13:48Speaker 5: Or some shit like Yeah, Like if you learn a
- 13:51Speaker 5: martial art or.
- 13:51Speaker 2: A fighting style and you and you only learn that
- 13:53Speaker 2: martial art, then you come into contact with someone the
- 13:55Speaker 2: masial art, then you don't have any muscial art in so.
- 13:58Speaker 5: Being able to adapt to all things is like kings.
- 14:00Speaker 5: I guess yeah, as a being, I suppose that's.
- 14:04Speaker 4: Exactly aroundabout way, that's what you're trying to say. You're
- 14:12Speaker 4: nominated for Best Music Video for Fucked Around and found
- 14:15Speaker 4: out that last years Gold Coast Music Award was obviously
- 14:17Speaker 4: the judges read out the wrong name as a winner,
- 14:19Speaker 4: But what does something like that even being nominated Menda
- 14:23Speaker 4: Hammers and metal bands overall, it's it's it's.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Cool to be acknowledged.
- 14:29Speaker 3: You know. We don't do this.
- 14:30Speaker 5: To for that reason.
- 14:32Speaker 6: We do this because we love doing it and we've
- 14:34Speaker 6: got to put all this energy somewhere.
- 14:36Speaker 5: But to be.
- 14:37Speaker 6: Acknowledged for the work that we're doing and the people
- 14:39Speaker 6: we're working with to bring Envision to life, it's it's cool,
- 14:43Speaker 6: and it's cool to see the Gold Coast music scene,
- 14:46Speaker 6: the community that's supporting artists, not.
- 14:50Speaker 1: The stars, but you know, everyone that is having a
- 14:52Speaker 1: crack at it, so.
- 14:53Speaker 6: Yeah, and I think we've had three nominations now fortunately,
- 14:58Speaker 6: and we've seen in that the awards.
- 15:02Speaker 5: Have grown the huge now, so yeah, I think the
- 15:05Speaker 5: girl plays music. It's a good community, they're doing good things.
- 15:08Speaker 5: I actually saw you there.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Yeah, like it's from when we first got nominated for
- 15:13Speaker 2: Deads I think it was, which was in twenty eighteen
- 15:16Speaker 2: nineteen or something that was on the beach and surface
- 15:19Speaker 2: and I was quite surprised at the event, but it
- 15:21Speaker 2: was kind of I think they had it like a
- 15:22Speaker 2: big marque thing and now it's over there at that
- 15:27Speaker 2: Hoder and it's it's amazing.
- 15:28Speaker 5: I think that right on.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Russish just said, like the best part about it is
- 15:33Speaker 2: the fact that it really highlights collaborative efforts in the
- 15:36Speaker 2: industry as well. So for us, like working with people
- 15:38Speaker 2: like Colin Jeffs's our long standing friend. He's one of
- 15:42Speaker 2: the greatest videographers I've ever seen and has an amazing
- 15:45Speaker 2: mind for that stuff. And the same Yeames with the
- 15:48Speaker 2: guy that did our Death Bobles clip as well, James Ladder.
- 15:51Speaker 2: That just displays an extension of the bands too and
- 15:55Speaker 2: kind of exemplifize the community.
- 16:00Speaker 5: Artists.
- 16:00Speaker 2: I guess around, not just bands. But you know what
- 16:03Speaker 2: it takes to do all this. You know, you can't
- 16:05Speaker 2: do it without your artists. You can't do it without
- 16:07Speaker 2: your your photographers, shady Rose, you can't do it without
- 16:12Speaker 2: your videographers and you know, your.
- 16:14Speaker 5: Merch guys and stuff. It's all it's really cool man.
- 16:17Speaker 3: Yeah, that's awesome. And what would that new album be
- 16:20Speaker 3: without a chor to go with?
- 16:22Speaker 6: You?
- 16:22Speaker 4: Guys and Habits are obliging setting off on a headlining run,
- 16:25Speaker 4: starting and Willing Gone on March of six, head through Sydney,
- 16:28Speaker 4: Gold Coast, Brisbane, Melbourne and Cross Harbor, then finishing Lives

- 17:04Speaker 5: the record or the records.
- 17:08Speaker 2: We are sticklers for Quatlck for trying to put get
- 17:11Speaker 2: together for the fans and do it as organically and
- 17:13Speaker 2: real as possible.
- 17:16Speaker 5: So yeah, the delivery, the delivery in full.
- 17:23Speaker 4: Anyone I've spoken to seeing you guys live say expect
- 17:26Speaker 4: total fucking carnage, like you are underselling.
- 17:31Speaker 5: We doing. We came for a bunch of old blogs, mate,
- 17:33Speaker 5: for sure, this.
- 17:36Speaker 3: Stuff stretch it out.
- 17:40Speaker 4: And you're also slipping in five dates with an up
- 17:43Speaker 4: and coming band called Cob in April, so that's pretty
- 17:47Speaker 4: good ice on the cake.
- 17:49Speaker 2: Yeah, they're bros, and we're forever grateful that we are
- 17:54Speaker 2: still Like you know, I think I first played with
- 17:55Speaker 2: COG in two thousand and two and we still get
- 17:58Speaker 2: the chance to share the stage to other and you know,
- 18:01Speaker 2: whatever incarnation their.
- 18:02Speaker 5: Music is, and it's it's raight, it's rather they're beautiful people.
- 18:07Speaker 2: I think, great representations of what Australian music should be.
- 18:13Speaker 4: You played a few shows towards the end of last
- 18:15Speaker 4: year and I know from experience how one eyed and
- 18:18Speaker 4: loyal COG fans can be.
- 18:19Speaker 3: So how receptive of your music? Were they?
- 18:22Speaker 6: Like?
- 18:22Speaker 3: Were they just wait for you to fuck off and
- 18:23Speaker 3: comp to come on? Or did you win them over?
- 18:27Speaker 2: We get I think we get them man Like It's
- 18:29Speaker 2: it's funny because we're obviously fucking heaps heavier. You know,
- 18:32Speaker 2: but they have a heaviness that you can't fuck with
- 18:34Speaker 2: two in a way that like they sound like Australia.
- 18:37Speaker 5: They sound like the earth you're walking on. So yeah,
- 18:41Speaker 5: I think like they're also again a weird man.
- 18:45Speaker 3: You know what I mean.
- 18:46Speaker 5: So I feel.
- 18:46Speaker 2: Like we're in the best way possible, Like weird attracts weird,
- 18:50Speaker 2: and the fans are there to see something, experience something unique,
- 18:54Speaker 2: and I feel like if it's authentic and they're going
- 18:55Speaker 2: to like as much as they might be one eyed,
- 18:58Speaker 2: I feel like if you're a COG fan also not judgmental, Yeah,
- 19:02Speaker 2: you know, you'll be one eye for them.
- 19:03Speaker 5: You open to a new vibration and she got that,
- 19:07Speaker 5: you know.
- 19:08Speaker 2: So they've been cool man like every time we've show
- 19:11Speaker 2: with him, and I was like, hey, Funk's right, you know.
- 19:17Speaker 3: Good thing.
- 19:18Speaker 4: But before I let you go, guys, I got a
- 19:20Speaker 4: new segment I've introduced called photo Bomb. So basically, I've
- 19:23Speaker 4: trolled through your social media and I've come up with
- 19:25Speaker 4: a few photos that I want to know a little
- 19:27Speaker 4: bit more about.
- 19:28Speaker 3: So the first one I've found you did you do you?
- 19:33Speaker 3: Where is it? Now?
- 19:34Speaker 4: I've traveled a fair bit around the country, but I've
- 19:36Speaker 4: never actually seen this place, so where is it?
- 19:39Speaker 3: And then well I take the photo there.
- 19:45Speaker 5: Yes, it's in it's Frankston.
- 19:50Speaker 2: That's in Franklin, and it's like an art art exhibition
- 19:53Speaker 2: and outdoor art exhibition, and that's the piece of art
- 19:56Speaker 2: that some dude has.
- 19:57Speaker 5: Fucking it's a go ahead, yeah right, you can go ahead. Hey,
- 20:02Speaker 5: something else about.
- 20:02Speaker 2: That photo that rick is brought to light when you
- 20:04Speaker 2: get off here and have a look at it properly,
- 20:06Speaker 2: go up and zoom in.
- 20:08Speaker 5: There's a fucking UFO above us. Yeah kidding me.
- 20:12Speaker 3: Cut it out.
- 20:13Speaker 4: I've fucking cut it out. The only proof in existence,
- 20:17Speaker 4: and I've cut it out.
- 20:20Speaker 2: Like our conspiracy brains just went. It's probably a reflection
- 20:25Speaker 2: of a fucking rock or something. But today that is
- 20:30Speaker 2: a that's an art, like it's a gallery, an outdoor gallery.
- 20:34Speaker 2: It's a singular art.
- 20:37Speaker 4: Is that something you do on the road? I do
- 20:39Speaker 4: you stop and get happy stats and things like that?
- 20:41Speaker 4: Or was that just like the spread of the moment.
- 20:43Speaker 5: I think we do things man like again, asked about
- 20:47Speaker 5: this before, and we were, and.
- 20:50Speaker 2: I think the thing with us too, like I've played
- 20:52Speaker 2: like two thousand shows in my life or something, and
- 20:54Speaker 2: for me, it's like now when I talk with my boys,
- 20:56Speaker 2: it's like, we're gonna enjoy this, Like well, on a
- 20:59Speaker 2: boy trip every time, whether it's a weekend, a wave,
- 21:02Speaker 2: a couple of days, or we're doing consecutive shadows, it's
- 21:05Speaker 2: like we always make an effort to get in the ocean.
- 21:08Speaker 5: Go and see some sights like what I was like,
- 21:11Speaker 5: why wouldn't you.
- 21:14Speaker 2: Room hotel rooms or nothing like, we always you know,
- 21:17Speaker 2: get out and try to try to see ship, equal food,
- 21:20Speaker 2: you know, sucking the local.
- 21:21Speaker 5: Breweries, pissus.
- 21:24Speaker 3: If you didn't.
- 21:27Speaker 4: Right the second photo I've got for you, if I
- 21:30Speaker 4: was a betting man, I'd to say this one was
- 21:32Speaker 4: taken out a bullet train platform in shake or a soccer.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Yeah, this was really really cute.
- 21:39Speaker 3: So we were we're.
- 21:41Speaker 6: In Japan with a band called Emergency Rule and we're
- 21:44Speaker 6: catching their bullet train to a soccer and we're on
- 21:47Speaker 6: the platform and doing what you do when you're in
- 21:49Speaker 6: a soccer.
- 21:50Speaker 1: We weren't drinking.
- 21:51Speaker 5: Heaps of the year.
- 21:54Speaker 1: But this this little girl who wanted to go to
- 21:57Speaker 1: Yeah it's a moment.
- 21:58Speaker 6: I think her grandma that she wanted a photo with us,
- 22:01Speaker 6: but she was to be shy to ask, so as
- 22:03Speaker 6: soon as we found out that she wanted a photo
- 22:05Speaker 6: with us, you could see the result.
- 22:06Speaker 3: We were pretty so.
- 22:07Speaker 2: Yeah, And the whole lot of that photo for me
- 22:10Speaker 2: was actually got the teacher how to.
- 22:11Speaker 5: Throw horme ones up.
- 22:12Speaker 3: I did good on you.

- 22:20Speaker 3: That is so cool a simplar throw.
- 22:23Speaker 4: And I was over there with Franken Bock like we
- 22:25Speaker 4: would be on a train somewhere other boys all have their.
- 22:27Speaker 3: Shirts on and you see the Japanese people looking on
- 22:29Speaker 3: their phone then looking up at you, and you.

- 22:44Speaker 3: was talking to us on the train and they loved it.
- 22:46Speaker 4: And I'm just like, yeah, people are just so.
- 22:52Speaker 5: That would right.

- 23:15Speaker 3: We're on the train, I'm going from somewhere to somewhere.
- 23:17Speaker 4: But this guy, like a Japanese guy, asked us if
- 23:20Speaker 4: you needed to help get me with So I showed
- 23:21Speaker 4: Hi where we were going, and then he took us there.
- 23:23Speaker 4: We got off the train and Tommy left his kick
- 23:25Speaker 4: pedals on the train. So this guy's wrung ahead, found
- 23:29Speaker 4: out where they let it off, walked us to the venue,
- 23:31Speaker 4: took me back down on the train, took me to
- 23:33Speaker 4: get it, came back, walked me with new and I
