- 0:01Speaker 1: Well in the Wheelhouse's Great Political Analysis. I've been listening
- 0:04Speaker 1: to what because I'm all about South Carolina. I love
- 0:07Speaker 1: the place. Uh, it's like my second home. And this,
- 0:12Speaker 1: this Darlene Graham story is fascinating because you think about this.
- 0:16Speaker 1: You know what she's got going for her, the Trump endorsement,
- 0:19Speaker 1: and that's all she's got. Nobody knows anything about this woman, Martin. No,
- 0:25Speaker 1: that's all she's got. Mark, Nobody knows anything about her. Mark,
- 0:32Speaker 1: don't don't. She's a nice lady. Doesn't cut it. She's
- 0:36Speaker 1: Lindsay's sister. Doesn't cut it. Mark, that doesn't cut it.
- 0:41Speaker 1: That doesn't mean anything. I'm not saying that it does.
- 0:43Speaker 1: I'm telling you I had a sister who flew around
- 0:45Speaker 1: on a broom. I mean, look, I had a sister.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Don't don't say because your your family member is a
- 0:52Speaker 1: family member, that you're going to be a great US senator, Mark,
- 0:56Speaker 1: I mean.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Trump endorsement, Collie Moses role reversal Tuesday, calm down. I
- 1:01Speaker 2: just think it's wild that that big endorsement isn't all
- 1:05Speaker 2: she has. She also has the sentiments and empathy of
- 1:09Speaker 2: a state that loved her brother and a lot of
- 1:11Speaker 2: voters tonight are going to hand this to her and
- 1:14Speaker 2: say for the only this reason, because we love Lindsay,
- 1:17Speaker 2: and maybe Lindsay would have wanted this. Now you are
- 1:20Speaker 2: completely on target, and I went find that that lovely
- 1:24Speaker 2: sentiment does not rise to the level of a sensible
- 1:27Speaker 2: choice for somebody.
- 1:28Speaker 1: For six years in the Senate when we don't.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Know hardly dood le squad about you, which which leads
- 1:33Speaker 2: me to ask, why did Trump endorse her?
- 1:35Speaker 1: Wait a minute, I think you're I think you're vastly
- 1:37Speaker 1: overstating the love and affection you think South Carolinians have
- 1:42Speaker 1: for Lindsey and his sister. I think you're way off this.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Lindsay was unbeatable. He was unrepeatable because he was beat
- 1:50Speaker 1: because he was an institution that that that brought a
- 1:54Speaker 1: lot of bacon home to South Carolina. And they knew it.
- 1:57Speaker 1: They didn't they that they held their notes. You couldn't
- 2:01Speaker 1: mention Lindsey Graham on the Mike Gallagher Show without a
- 2:04Speaker 1: million text messages about how much people loathe Lindsey. No,
- 2:07Speaker 1: there's no there's no love or affection. Now to your question,
- 2:12Speaker 1: there's not there's no love or affection. Not to the
- 2:16Speaker 1: level he did was mowed down every primary opponent every
- 2:21Speaker 1: six years. Of course, no, of course that it was.
- 2:24Speaker 1: But it was not. It was not based on love
- 2:27Speaker 1: and affection that the elector had had for him. They
- 2:30Speaker 1: he was their guy, but they tolerated him, They held
- 2:34Speaker 1: their nose and they voted for him. No, I'm just
- 2:36Speaker 1: telling you, I mean, I hate to be mean.
- 2:38Speaker 2: If it was, if it was that hesitant, if it
- 2:41Speaker 2: was that much nose holding, he would have been more vulnerable.
- 2:45Speaker 2: There was never a you know what Lindsey Graham was.
- 2:48Speaker 2: He was John Cornyn before this year, somebody who you
- 2:51Speaker 2: could always fill the phone lines with with enough people, Hey,
- 2:54Speaker 2: we've got to primary him this time, and then all
- 2:56Speaker 2: he would do is just plow over the competition that
- 2:59Speaker 2: was corn until this year.
- 3:01Speaker 1: So and what are people saying about John Cornyn now
- 3:04Speaker 1: got a lot of it, Hey, Mark, is there a
- 3:06Speaker 1: lot of love and affection for John Cornyn in Texas? Well?
- 3:11Speaker 1: It's the same. It's the same thing. John Cornyn managed
- 3:15Speaker 1: to survive for a lot of years politically, so did Lindsay.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Lindsay's time would have eventually probably run out at some point,
- 3:23Speaker 1: because I'm telling you, this is not a beloved figure. Mark.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Trust me, you don't know South Carolina like I do.
- 3:29Speaker 1: They don't love him like you think they do now
- 3:32Speaker 1: and they don't you. But to your good question, why
- 3:36Speaker 1: did Trump do the endorsement, I think Trump deeply, deeply
- 3:40Speaker 1: came to love Lindsay. I believe that this is purely
- 3:44Speaker 1: an emotional attachment because he loved Lindsay and he thinks
- 3:48Speaker 1: this is probably what Lindsay would want. First of all,
- 3:51Speaker 1: nobody even knows if this is what Lindsay would want.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Lindsey himself may not think his little sister would be
- 3:56Speaker 1: a good us.
- 3:56Speaker 2: There's a quote of him, and it's probably just him
- 3:59Speaker 2: being the sweet brother, but there is a quote of
- 4:02Speaker 2: him saying, I mean something like if I weren't the senator,
- 4:07Speaker 2: she would be great or or she would be a
- 4:09Speaker 2: great senator.
- 4:10Speaker 1: He was praising her. I see that he was proud
- 4:13Speaker 1: of her. He Look, it's a great story. It's a
- 4:16Speaker 1: wonderful story. He adopted her when the parents died at
- 4:20Speaker 1: the early ages. Look, I get it. But your analysis,
- 4:24Speaker 1: I think is pitch perfect. And let me tell you
- 4:26Speaker 1: why you're so right. There's already precedent for what you
- 4:29Speaker 1: think is going to happen, which has happened in South Carolina.
- 4:33Speaker 1: You believe that she'll finish first, and that one of
- 4:36Speaker 1: the others, whether it's Ralph Norman or Russell Frye, I
- 4:40Speaker 1: don't think. I don't think Sandford can do it. This is,
- 4:42Speaker 1: first of all, you're quoting the Trafalgar Pole, and the
- 4:46Speaker 1: Trafalgar Pole has been notoriously bad lately, so they could
- 4:50Speaker 1: be off, but maybe right. But the Trafalgar Pole says
- 4:54Speaker 1: that Mark Sandford really jettisoned his reputation with all the
- 4:59Speaker 1: shenanigans he got into. And by the way, I like
- 5:02Speaker 1: the guy. I've told the told the story about it.
- 5:04Speaker 1: He called me personally and apologized, as he called a
- 5:07Speaker 1: lot of pundits and broadcasters for for letting everybody down.
- 5:10Speaker 1: He's he's and he's a solid conservative. Russell fry I mean, look,
- 5:15Speaker 1: they're all in the mix. But I think you're right.
- 5:17Speaker 1: So she wins, there's a number two tonight, there'll be
- 5:20Speaker 1: a runoff, and then the number two beats her in
- 5:23Speaker 1: two weeks. Here's the precedent that just happened with Pamela
- 5:26Speaker 1: Evitt and Alan Wilson. President Trump endorsed Pamela Evitts to
- 5:31Speaker 1: be the next governor of South Carolina. She's the lieutenant governor.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Along comes Alan Wilson. Alan Wilson forces this into a runoff.
- 5:40Speaker 1: He endorsed. Trump says, Okay, well you know what I'll endorse.
- 5:43Speaker 1: I'm both go in peace, South Carolina. I love you
- 5:46Speaker 1: all people. They're lovely people both sides. The good people
- 5:49Speaker 1: on both sides. Vote for either one of them, and
- 5:52Speaker 1: of course then he trounces her in the in the
- 5:54Speaker 1: in the final election. I think that's what's gonna And incidentally,
- 5:58Speaker 1: you don't rule out Trump on this again.
- 6:00Speaker 2: That's exactly what I was going to ask you, because here,
- 6:03Speaker 2: because the President has painted himself into a little bit
- 6:05Speaker 2: of a corner here. Yes, it may be a lovely
- 6:07Speaker 2: sort of emotional thing. He loved Lindsey. Let's endorse Darlene.
- 6:11Speaker 2: That will probably help Darlene finish first tonight, but it
- 6:15Speaker 2: will be a runoff. Let's say it's Darlene and Ralph Norman.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Norman is going to beat her two weeks from now,
- 6:21Speaker 2: which means that the Trump endorsement will not have worked.
- 6:25Speaker 2: He doesn't like when that happens.
- 6:26Speaker 1: So that does it?
- 6:28Speaker 2: Are we get a Mike Gallagher prediction, Well, are you
- 6:30Speaker 2: willing to go at that far out on the limb?
- 6:32Speaker 1: Not really an official prediction, but listen, it would would
- 6:34Speaker 1: it surprise you? Would it surprise you? Just endorse them
- 6:37Speaker 1: both so that he doesn't get the sting of that,
- 6:41Speaker 1: and he'll and he'll say, look, I did this before
- 6:43Speaker 1: in South Carolina. I'll do it again. I did it
- 6:45Speaker 1: with Alan Wilson, I did it with Pam Evatt. I'm
- 6:47Speaker 1: going to do it now with Ralph Norman and uh
- 6:50Speaker 1: and look, we're gonna have Joey on the show, Joey Hudson.
- 6:53Speaker 1: He's going to actually moderate on Newsmax one of the
- 6:57Speaker 1: debates are going to have between the two five lists
- 7:00Speaker 1: in the runoff. They're gonna Actually, isn't that great? I'm
- 7:03Speaker 1: so happy for him.
- 7:04Speaker 2: Sir Palmetto states.
- 7:06Speaker 1: He really is. He's in the middle of it all
- 7:08Speaker 1: and I love. Of course, he's one of my dearest friends.
- 7:11Speaker 1: I'm talking to one of my other dearest friends, but
- 7:12Speaker 1: one of my closest friends in the world and the
- 7:15Speaker 1: director of our foundation and my guest host, my permanent
- 7:17Speaker 1: guest host. So Joey'll join us to talk a little
- 7:20Speaker 1: bit about previewing this, and yeah, he's going to be
- 7:22Speaker 1: one of the panelists. They're going to The South Carolina
- 7:25Speaker 1: fourth Congressional District is partnering with Newsmax to air a
- 7:29Speaker 1: debate between Darlene, presumably if she does it. Now here's
- 7:34Speaker 1: here's a red flag. You want to get into the
- 7:35Speaker 1: weeds a little bit. Sure, I'm looking, I'm proud. I'm
- 7:38Speaker 1: perusing all my show prep sites. This morning. The New
- 7:41Speaker 1: York Times is complaining the Darlene won't take any questions
- 7:45Speaker 1: about how she'll vote. She dodges all the reporters questions.
- 7:49Speaker 1: She will not Even the New York Times is complaining
- 7:51Speaker 1: about it, and and the and the way they The
- 7:53Speaker 1: position the article was that Lindsey loved talking up reporters.
- 7:59Speaker 1: He chat in the way and he's like Trump in
- 8:02Speaker 1: that regard. I mean Trump would go, not not his sister.
- 8:05Speaker 1: She doesn't give answers to how she'll vote. She does
- 8:08Speaker 1: not sit down for interviews. She's very careful. Exactly.
- 8:15Speaker 2: I smell handlers who said, listen, any question you may
- 8:18Speaker 2: answer is an opportunity for something to blow up.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Don't do it.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Play it totally safe, close to the vest. You got
- 8:23Speaker 2: the name recognition. You got the affection of semi.
- 8:28Speaker 1: But that leaves the voters right where I started this conversation.
- 8:32Speaker 1: They know nothing about her. Doesn't she have an obligation
- 8:36Speaker 1: to explain how she's going to vote? Shouldn't she be
- 8:39Speaker 1: sitting down with media and giving interviews. She's got the
- 8:43Speaker 1: Trump endorsement and that's all she's got, and we'll see
- 8:45Speaker 1: how that works. Speaking of Trump, I'm so irritated at
- 8:51Speaker 1: the median narrative about this leak that Trump had to
- 8:55Speaker 1: be diverted from Air Force one leaving Turkey back in
- 9:00Speaker 1: last month, because julyast it was a mysterious departure. It
- 9:03Speaker 1: was like, wait a minute, we took this expensive Katari
- 9:06Speaker 1: Air Force one and he wound up not using it. Well,
- 9:09Speaker 1: now we know a little more about how he did
- 9:10Speaker 1: get out, and it's weird. Well, it's also should be
- 9:14Speaker 1: criminal because that should never have been leaked. This leak
- 9:17Speaker 1: puts his life in danger, you know. Scott Jennings was
- 9:21Speaker 1: talking about this last nime on CNN. Scott pointed out,
- 9:25Speaker 1: every time Trump leaves sixteen hundred Pennsylvania Avenue, it must
- 9:30Speaker 1: cross his mind, this might be the last time I
- 9:32Speaker 1: get to leave this house, this mansion. It is so
- 9:37Speaker 1: despicable that somebody leaked it. And you know what they're
- 9:39Speaker 1: upset about, David Axelrod and all the chattering, the mob.
- 9:44Speaker 1: They're mad that in leaving Air Force one and flying
- 9:48Speaker 1: back on the cargo plane, you left the other reporters
- 9:52Speaker 1: on Air Force one. Well, they were sitting ducks. They
- 9:55Speaker 1: were at decoy. And how awful that is that Trump
- 9:58Speaker 1: put their lives in harm's way. In other words, they
- 10:01Speaker 1: don't give a rats rear end about the President's life
- 10:03Speaker 1: being in jeopardy. They thought they think they're more worried
- 10:07Speaker 1: about their own butts. And how they were, you know,
- 10:10Speaker 1: decoys because there was White House staff and some reporters
- 10:13Speaker 1: on that regular Air Force one.
- 10:16Speaker 2: So the belief was that Trump was in danger from
- 10:18Speaker 2: and this was in Turkey, a big Muslim country now
- 10:21Speaker 2: a NATO member, so it not doesn't tend to be
- 10:24Speaker 2: a country where the streets are filled with people who
- 10:25Speaker 2: want to kill us maybe some uh, And they chose
- 10:30Speaker 2: to spirit him out on another plane and they loaded
- 10:32Speaker 2: him in like a food car. I mean, all these
- 10:35Speaker 2: stories are.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Like those elevator things that go up and down there.
- 10:41Speaker 1: But it's a little dark in here. Duck your head,
- 10:45Speaker 1: mister president, put your head head.
- 10:47Speaker 2: So and I guess that there was a plausible threat
- 10:52Speaker 2: of the possibility of an Iranian assassination attempt, you know,
- 10:56Speaker 2: And what form would that have taken? A missile shot
- 10:59Speaker 2: at the plane, in which case I might think twice
- 11:02Speaker 2: if I were on the plane too.
- 11:03Speaker 1: But well, and again nobody really cares. And I also
- 11:08Speaker 1: final note here, Caroline Levitt was on with Sean Hannity
- 11:11Speaker 1: last night, and I love her and I know she's
- 11:14Speaker 1: carrying the water here. There are new crime statistics out
- 11:19Speaker 1: that show nationally crime rates in America have plummeted dramatically.
- 11:24Speaker 1: Now if crime rates under a Democrat president had plummeted dramatically,
- 11:28Speaker 1: that's the takeaway. Oh, look at the crime falling under
- 11:31Speaker 1: President Kamala Harris look at her, But not so much
- 11:35Speaker 1: with this guy. But so Caroline correctly said that our country,
- 11:39Speaker 1: as he promised, is safer under him. She also said,
- 11:44Speaker 1: and more affordable because of him. And Mark, these guys
- 11:49Speaker 1: will not change this messaging. They insist on saying that
- 11:54Speaker 1: everything is affordable and everything is a okay, and that
- 11:57Speaker 1: the affordability crisis is a hoax. And Mark I think
- 12:01Speaker 1: it's a mistake, don't you. I do.
- 12:04Speaker 2: I think there's just a couple of more a couple
- 12:06Speaker 2: of extra syllables. Say, we understand people are facing struggles,
- 12:09Speaker 2: and we're working hard every day to make things more affordable,
- 12:12Speaker 2: and we feel like we're making progress. Say that, and
- 12:16Speaker 2: I think you're good when.
- 12:17Speaker 1: That would cover it, But don't pretend, because I think
- 12:21Speaker 1: people get resentful of that mark. I think people hear
- 12:24Speaker 1: that and they say, wait a minute, what planet are
- 12:25Speaker 1: they living on? I can't buy groceries. And but they kissed.
- 12:29Speaker 1: And I know she's just delivering President Trump's message, But
- 12:32Speaker 1: I just think it's a mistake.
- 12:34Speaker 2: It's also true that affordability was at times worse under Biden.
- 12:39Speaker 1: But that but that doesn't well, It's all true. Gas
- 12:41Speaker 1: prices were higher, inflation was higher, and the stock market
- 12:45Speaker 1: was tanking. We know that. But but again, it doesn't
- 12:48Speaker 1: doesn't work, It doesn't help you now, does not correct.
- 12:52Speaker 1: All right, we mostly agree. Hey did you, by the way,
- 12:54Speaker 1: did you see Larry O'Connor reposted the eminem extra last
- 12:58Speaker 1: night on his with his gazillion follows. Looks how cool
- 13:02Speaker 1: is that? Larry O'Connor Our colleague, Larry. That's a Trump
- 13:06Speaker 1: and Door. We got a Larry O'Connor endorsement. I've got
- 13:08Speaker 1: a hunch that Larry is liking em and M extra
