Transcript
- 0:06Hello, what's your least favorite scary movie?
- 0:10I feel like Neve Campbell and scream to she thinks she can go
- 0:13off to college and be happy and then, the murderer comes back
- 0:16and starts killing off all of her.
- 0:17Friends aren't a lot of lessons from that movie, it's just one
- 0:20of them. Welcome to, what's your least
- 0:22favorite scary movie? The podcasts, are we talked
- 0:24about the good, the bad, the ugly, and the Absurd in all of
- 0:28our favorite and least favorite Gary.
- 0:30Babies. Because we believe every horror
- 0:31movie rightfully, has its fanbase, even if we don't always
- 0:33get it. My name is Travis.
- 0:35My name is Jessie. And today, we have an extra
- 0:38special returning guest Steve from the decision.
- 0:42Real. What up guys, thanks for having
- 0:44me back on. As always, thank you for coming
- 0:47back. It's always nice to have you on
- 0:49hell. Yeah, it's always a pleasure.
- 0:51All right, we're talking about screen to.
- 0:53Yeah, always some for some reason it always comes back to
- 0:55scream. I don't know.
- 0:58All right. So yeah we're talking about
- 1:00scream to today. We have Steve over to help us
- 1:03but before we get into our scream discussion Jessie do you
- 1:07have any announcements? Yes.
- 1:10So on Sunday we had our to be or not to be episode on Pool Party
- 1:14Massacre. Gonna have a pool party.
- 1:18Dude. That's a if you have not seen
- 1:20that movie, it's a fun movie. It's fine.
- 1:22Yeah, it's been on my watch list for a while but I just haven't
- 1:26gotten around to it. So maybe maybe two.
- 1:28I don't know, I don't want to do it.
- 1:29I might get into it. It's like an hour. 19 minutes.
- 1:32Yeah, although to be throws in an absurd amount of AD breaks
- 1:36for house rent, the movie is. Yeah, to be, is kind of hit or
- 1:39miss with that stuff. Well, sometimes it's like,
- 1:41here's one ad break for a two-hour movie and I'm sometimes
- 1:44it's like oh, five minutes of the movie is pressed and then
- 1:47it'll suck. Yeah, it's like, all right.
- 1:48You got ads coming 54s, just could just keep on fake Joe.
- 1:54Does it gets me every time? I appreciate it, though.
- 1:56Okay. Is that all you got?
- 1:58Yeah. Yeah, yes.
- 2:00Yes. All right, cool.
- 2:01Then let's do the poll real quick.
- 2:03So we had Paranormal Activity to last week and just based off of
- 2:09the stupid fucking tagline from that movie.
- 2:11We just wanted to ask, did you demand it or did you politely
- 2:14ask for it? So Steve, just to give you some
- 2:16context if you weren't aware, we talk about tagline at a glance,
- 2:20every episode and Paranormal Activity 2, did not really have
- 2:25a tagline. I had a marketing stick.
- 2:28Yeah, whole like marketing thing where like it just says demand
- 2:31it, and right there, you were able to demand getting to watch
- 2:36it early in your city, if your city demanded, it more than the
- 2:40others. Mmm, so kind of like, hey, we
- 2:43don't have the money and the backing to put it to all these
- 2:47places. So if you demand it, we will
- 2:49know where we can actually put it.
- 2:50Oh, and look. Hey, Studio people want to see
- 2:52it. Give us more money and if it
- 2:54were essentially we're actually Blum House.
- 2:57I could believe that like they Even cheap out on the
- 2:59distribution. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 3:02Okay. So on Twitter 75% demand, it
- 3:0725%, politely ask and Instagram. 38% demanded. 62% boy, we ask
- 3:15now. That's saying it right.
- 3:16The man that made. All right.
- 3:19That's what I'm doing. I'm demanding.
- 3:21It it has been demanded. It is.
- 3:22Estimated I got politely request.
- 3:25It quietly. Part 3, I will demand it.
- 3:29It's more for three. Okay, that's it for a pull.
- 3:33Let's talk about scream to now. All right, screen to released
- 3:37December 12th, 1997. We watched it on our 4K.
- 3:43Mmm, Yeah. Blu-ray discs and both are
- 3:46correct. Yeah, as of March 25th, 2023,
- 3:51this is available to stream on Pluto's tv, YouTube Primetime,
- 3:55Paramount Plus or prime premium. You can Also, rent it from
- 3:59Google Play. Redblacks red box or Voodoo
- 4:03written by Kevin Williamson directed by Wes.
- 4:05Craven music by Marco Beltrami, and special effects makeup by
- 4:10kvn. Then they did the first one.
- 4:12Okay cool. Yeah, starring.
- 4:15Neve Campbell is Sidney Prescott.
- 4:16Courteney, Cox's, Gale weathers David Arquette is Dewey.
- 4:19Riley Elise. Neal is Hallie.
- 4:21Jamie Kennedy is Randy Meeks, Liev.
- 4:23Schreiber as cotton weary Timothy, Olyphant Oliphant I
- 4:28can't I don't Timothy, Timothy elephant.
- 4:32Timothy, Olyphant Olyphant awesome as a Mickey.
- 4:36Jerry O'Connell is Derek Laurie. Metcalf is Debbie salt and Roger
- 4:40Jackson as the voice. Nice.
- 4:42Okay. Okay.
- 4:44Budget or begged head. Our favorite game.
- 4:47I think this one is budget. You know.
- 4:53I'm going to agree with you but what was the focus one?
- 4:56Was the first one bucked up. Another person was budget, was
- 4:59it? Okay.
- 4:59Obviously this one's gonna be budget.
- 5:01Yeah, 24 million Dan. Yeah, that's way more than I
- 5:04expected opening weekend. Box office.
- 5:07Thirty, two point, nine million, and a worldwide gross of 172
- 5:11million shit. So almost grossed as much as the
- 5:14first one that's impressive. Very much so and it's funny like
- 5:17looking back at this. I think I watched screaming the
- 5:21first scream again, maybe. A couple months ago and then
- 5:23watching scream to after, obviously, we're not getting
- 5:27into spoilers talk. But after watching the newest
- 5:29scream, this movie seems so tame in comparison with literally
- 5:35everything. Yeah, I can see that.
- 5:38Yeah. And again, going up against the
- 5:40first scream, even this movie. Just felt like, you know, like I
- 5:45was expecting. Randy has the talk, I don't know
- 5:48if we're getting super deep into this but Randy has the talk
- 5:50about sequels have to be bigger badder.
- 5:52Are more, you know, kills more gruesome kills.
- 5:57Where was that? Yeah, it really doesn't feel as
- 6:00graphic as the first one. Mmm.
- 6:02No. I mean, the openings pretty
- 6:03graphic. But like, yeah, I don't really
- 6:06think of anything else that like, goes above and beyond the
- 6:10first one. No.
- 6:11And I got a lot to talk about about the, the opening in this
- 6:13movie. So if you do you think, and then
- 6:15we're going to get too deep into it, all right.
- 6:19Okay, so currently has a six point three out of 10 on IMDb.
- 6:23That's what I say it. Rude, that's rude.
- 6:25It's a rude rating. I pulled three movies also from
- 6:291997 as a comparison for ratings and budget / gross.
- 6:34Okay, the first one naturally. Being I Know What You Did Last
- 6:38Summer. Oh nice.
- 6:39I got Sarah Michelle Gellar. We got Kevin Williamson seemed
- 6:42like an athlete. He wrote the ones who right?
- 6:44Okay. Yeah, that was released October
- 6:4617th. 1997 budget 17 million in a worldwide gross of 125.
- 6:52In. I'll say it again.
- 6:55Kevin Williamson. Ran that decade?
- 6:57Yeah, like it's kind of absurd, like the later.
- 7:00Half of that decade. He has so many hit movies.
- 7:03Yeah. The late 90s belong to Kevin
- 7:04Williamson. Scream, I Know What You Did Last
- 7:07Summer Halloween, The Faculty. It's all.
- 7:09It's almost like he figured out the, the key to what everybody
- 7:12wanted to see and went, I'm just going to remake it.
- 7:15Put a different name on it and change the formula a little bit,
- 7:18but not so much that people are going to be like, wow I like
- 7:22yeah, just enough. Yeah, we talked about this when
- 7:24we were discussing the first one last month, but his philosophy
- 7:27to move, your writing is writing a movie.
- 7:29He himself, would want to watch. That should be literally every
- 7:33single person who writes a movie should be kind of do that, but
- 7:36it would think you imagine like somebody riding a moving by God,
- 7:39I hate this so fucking much. It probably happens more than
- 7:43you think. Dude, that's what happened with
- 7:44the Dragon Ball movie? Oh my God.
- 7:47That's Udo interference to right, where?
- 7:49It's like. Okay, we're paying you to make
- 7:51this in this. What has to happen and you're
- 7:54just I fuck I swear to fucking God this sucks so fucking hard
- 7:57but whatever. If you want it you have you ever
- 7:59watched that by the way, you know, it's funny if you take out
- 8:04the history and knowledge of anything, you have Dragon Ball Z
- 8:07and you watch that movie, you're like, all right?
- 8:10It's that's what I was gonna be thinking to yeah.
- 8:13Right. But is it super terrible?
- 8:17No. But you got to think of what
- 8:19came out all around. That was like these the same
- 8:21type movies and this does. Just like a generic whatever
- 8:25movie. And then you add the Dragon Ball
- 8:27and in here like, oh wow, this is fun.
- 8:28There's trash. Like, how could you take
- 8:31anything that has to do with Dragon Ball?
- 8:34Besides literally just the names of the characters and the fact
- 8:37that there's Dragon Balls? That's literally what they did
- 8:40it. Oh yeah.
- 8:41Well bit. It's like, luckily today has
- 8:43super nerd James Marsters as a part of a, who fought for, at
- 8:46least some accuracy to eat your. Yeah, I respect that man, he
- 8:51fought for Piccolo. Be green.
- 8:53They were insisting on him not being green and he's like, no
- 8:57guys. I got we learned nothing from
- 9:00Super Mario. Brothers, Wally Super Mario
- 9:03Brothers. Like I think that that's a cult
- 9:05hit people. That's right.
- 9:07He's not a man, no, but he's kind of a dinosaur, right?
- 9:11He's got spikes. I like how they tried to like,
- 9:16make it real. But then they still had the
- 9:18Cooper's or whatever with the small heads and they're like,
- 9:20well yeah, but the main guy can't be No, sir were and Yoshi
- 9:23to, you know, she's like a straight-up Velociraptor
- 9:26something right, right. Yeah.
- 9:27So it's like they went into it and we're like well we can do
- 9:29this and then they're like but we can't.
- 9:31Well, how do we do it? I don't know.
- 9:31Give them a cool-looking spiky hair do, sure why not?
- 9:35This is gotta play some, I'm sorry when I like, isn't that
- 9:38like a famous actor that played him, isn't it?
- 9:40Not Dennis Hopper, Dennis Hopper, guess who it is?
- 9:42Yeah, speed, Dennis Hopper, maybe he is like, I'm not going.
- 9:46He went. How much money am I getting
- 9:47paid? I don't give a fuck.
- 9:48Yeah, do whatever you want to this face.
- 9:51Okay, sorry, continue. Okay.
- 9:52I Know What You Did Last Summer, has a very rude rating as well.
- 9:55And IMDb currently sitting at a 5.8 5.8 for that.
- 9:59Yes, well, that makes sense really.
- 10:03I feel like gotta think most people that are going to see
- 10:06these movies when they get out of them.
- 10:07Go well that sucked. But was it enjoyable?
- 10:10Yeah. But then you have your horror
- 10:12Fanatics like me or you guys who are like oh yeah, fuck that
- 10:15movie was awesome. Yeah, yeah I don't know if you
- 10:17guys really remember this but I do remember.
- 10:20Back in the late 90s. There was a Argue with Scream
- 10:24person or are you an I Know What You Did Last Summer person.
- 10:27So there was like this back and forth of when I ain't seen the
- 10:30new scream. I'm with these people or vice
- 10:33versa, but it's funny because they're made by the same guy.
- 10:36So like he created this like Pokemon Red vs.
- 10:39Pokemon Blue type situation where it's like it's the same
- 10:41game guys. Kevin Williamson a smog sitting
- 10:45in his cave, counting his money like yeah fuck, yeah, team team,
- 10:50whatever you want, okay. Secondly, the comparison.
- 10:54Okay, wish master came out, September 19th. 1997.
- 10:59This movie is barely a week older than my little sister.
- 11:03Wow, never seen that, but I want to watch that and that was made
- 11:09with a bug. Ted of five million dollars.
- 11:13Okay. And it grossed 15 million.
- 11:15Nice. Yep.
- 11:18Also has a five point eight out of ten, which that one's not.
- 11:22Quite as prolific. So I can understand that rating
- 11:26being a little bit lower. Yeah, I mean yeah I've not even
- 11:30watched it but I know that it's got like its fanbase for sure
- 11:34and the last one felt some medically appropriate but I got
- 11:37no box office numbers on. Yeah, funny games.
- 11:42Funny game. Yes.
- 11:43The original not the 2007 American shot-for-shot remake by
- 11:47the same director that some people still, for some reason,
- 11:49have a problem with. Yeah.
- 11:50That's I don't know what funny games.
- 11:52What is fun? Oh, you'd love.
- 11:54Funny game. Yeah, let's I won't ruin
- 11:56anything but it's a fucking bummer of a movie man.
- 11:59One, fuck of a bummer from. Yeah.
- 12:00And it's quote Tusk again. Yeah.
- 12:03Also from 1997. Yeah, there's a 1997 and then
- 12:07there's a 2007 American remake. It shot-for-shot done by the
- 12:10same director. Yeah.
- 12:12So you can really watch Michael hanneke.
- 12:15Yep. That has a seven point five out
- 12:18of ten on IMDb that makes its that's correct.
- 12:20Yeah. Seventy-seven thousand reviews.
- 12:24So, I mean, that means something.
- 12:26Yeah, yeah, no, absolutely watch funny games.
- 12:29You would, you would enjoy it. Wait.
- 12:31So you didn't have a go. Did you have a budget for that?
- 12:34No. But I'd already committed to it
- 12:37and it felt appropriate given some of the self-awareness of
- 12:42it. Yeah, that's true.
- 12:43It's green. Yeah.
- 12:45Okay, I have multiple tagline. Hey, okay.
- 12:49The one on the poster someone has taken their love of Of
- 12:52sequels One Step too far? Isn't that kind of the first
- 12:57one? But instead of scary movie it's
- 12:59just sequels pretty much. Okay.
- 13:01Yeah, there's a killer on campus making more calls making more
- 13:06kills. The that's not good.
- 13:09No it's not. Do you make a kill?
- 13:12I would think you would just kill making more kills.
- 13:18No it doesn't has rushed. Okay.
- 13:23Okay, remember, hold up. There's people in a room to get
- 13:25paid to come up with these tag lines that are making a lot of
- 13:27money and that's what they came up with.
- 13:30Yeah man, like taglines are, it's a mixed bag.
- 13:33No matter how I'm going to movie is, don't worry.
- 13:36Wait till we get to the last money.
- 13:37Oh, right? I could come up with a better
- 13:39one right now. Okay, now that's our assessment
- 13:41at, that's our segment at the end, Steve, okay?
- 13:44Then I'll save it, okay, sorry, rules of a sequel.
- 13:48The body count is always hot bigger, the death scene.
- 13:52These are much more, elaborate bowls.
- 13:56Yeah, yeah. Is the burden of body counts?
- 13:59Probably the same? I don't know.
- 14:01Not much different. At least.
- 14:02I don't know. We have waited the kill count.
- 14:04Recounts, we did with us so I cannot tell you, the hard
- 14:08numbers on this. Okay?
- 14:09That's fair. All right.
- 14:11Ready? Ready.
- 14:13Are you ready? Yes.
- 14:14Yes. Scream again, scream again that
- 14:19has the night. He came home again.
- 14:22That does. Yeah.
- 14:24God damn. These are the laziest fucking
- 14:26taglines I've ever heard. This one's ours, because I'm
- 14:28pretty sure it's stolen. It's showtime.
- 14:33Hold on that one tracks though, right?
- 14:35Because in the first movie, obviously, they're not making a
- 14:37movie about the movie. So, like in this one they're
- 14:40making a movie and people go for the third one, but also I can't
- 14:45read it's show time without hearing Michael Keaton as
- 14:49Beetlejuice. Yeah, Joker, no no.
- 14:52Yeah, you see, I used to have a good Beetlejuice back in the day
- 14:54and then like, I don't know, I went through puberty and lost
- 14:56it. Hey Travis, do your Seth Rogen?
- 14:59Laughs I can't do it on the spot.
- 15:02No. I used to be able to do it then
- 15:06I will. Yeah.
- 15:08Too much pressure on the yeah. You got so cocky and you tried
- 15:11to do it while we were recording and you couldn't last.
- 15:13Yeah, you have a mental block. I do have a need to go see a
- 15:16sports psychologist. Yeah.
- 15:19Okay. And then finally, Courrier.
- 15:23Sexier, funnier, sexier. I argue there's a hundred
- 15:27percent less sex in. This is less sex in this movie.
- 15:31Absolutely. I mean, is there sex appeal?
- 15:34I mean, they're older, right? So, they're not being glorified
- 15:36as high school students so you could sex them up now, right?
- 15:40Which I don't guess you really did doesn't happen.
- 15:43Yeah. I the closest we get to sex is
- 15:46Gail climbing on top of Dewey in the classroom but then they get
- 15:48interrupted by goes face or hold on.
- 15:51He's holding her e at the at that point.
- 15:53So that's sexier that is pretty sexy and and the way do, he's
- 15:56been walking through this movie. He's got a little bit of that
- 15:58pimp walk going on. That's sexier, she has nerve
- 16:02damage, Steve comfortable with that giant.
- 16:04Look whatever you do, whatever you want to call it.
- 16:08It's a pimp. Walk also goes save.
- 16:10If you're into the kinky shit fucking Derek being tied up at
- 16:15the end, it was a little thing that I don't know why I like
- 16:19Risk misremembered this as Having Henry Winkler in it as a
- 16:23teacher because he isn't, he a teacher in the third movie or
- 16:26something this principle in the first principle?
- 16:28Yeah. Oh, the first one that makes
- 16:30sense and but he his twin brothers, the dean at the
- 16:34college that would be hilarious. I don't know why, but I like I
- 16:39misremembered him being in this and I like I was a little let
- 16:41down. I was like, wait, is he in the
- 16:42third reason, the first something whatever, but then
- 16:44when you know what's, his face is tied up.
- 16:47I always thought like it was a different way.
- 16:49He was tied up and then obviously, I remember the
- 16:52Ending. I always remember the ending of
- 16:53this movie but I couldn't remember that.
- 16:55It was Ellen's ex-wife, r.i.p. that tied him up with the
- 17:00fucking, you know, the sorority to like, oh, you gave away your
- 17:05letters. Oh whoopsie do shit.
- 17:09This is so fun fact. Travis and I were both members
- 17:13of Greek life in the same college and he gave me he
- 17:18lavaliers me and that's the same thing as what Yes, and yeah, the
- 17:24same thing happened to me. I got tied up well, so they
- 17:26initially re going to do it, the night of my formal which would
- 17:30have screwed me over on so many levels.
- 17:32None, the least of which being that we had to take a shuttle
- 17:36over there together for safety measures.
- 17:37And I wouldn't have been allowed in.
- 17:39If I didn't take the shuttle. It was also my first formal over
- 17:4421 while I wasn't like a member of executive where like I wasn't
- 17:52Allowed to drink. Yeah and one of our friends in
- 17:54the same fraternity is Travis was like don't do this to Jesse,
- 17:57she will never forgive you all so instead.
- 18:00Wait, they did it during finals week when I was up at three am
- 18:05working on a term paper, I get a call like hey are you wondering
- 18:09where Travis it was like? Okay I didn't perhaps a little
- 18:12tied up at the moment just to give some context.
- 18:15I didn't actually like get kidnapped, they tricked me
- 18:18they're like hey man like I need and I'm so fucking stupid for
- 18:21falling for this. But they're like, hey man like
- 18:23can you come back? We just need you back at the
- 18:25house for a minute. Like we wish literally we were
- 18:28up. It was 1.
- 18:29A.m. we have been pulling all-nighters because it was a
- 18:31grueling finals week. Yeah.
- 18:33And I get in the car and they're like, okay man, like, can we
- 18:36like we're supposed to have a bag over your head, can we put
- 18:38the bag over your head? I'm like, okay, sure I'll play
- 18:40along and then they walked me down there and then all of a
- 18:44sudden they're like, all right, get him.
- 18:45And then that's whenever I like, I fully start panicking and then
- 18:49almost knocked down a deck. Yeah, I kicked down And I kick
- 18:52the leg of that thing and I was hoping I was in like fighter, I
- 18:56was in fight mode fight or flight, well, you're being
- 18:58kidnapped that the strength comes out at that point.
- 19:01That's true. But know that it's you could
- 19:03dick. It's a real thing.
- 19:05So, you know, not bought anything that was specifically
- 19:10made up for the movie. Yeah.
- 19:12Oh no, I didn't think it was but I just, I don't know.
- 19:14I find that so not archaic but like The Hazing and all that.
- 19:22That goes on with fraternity week or you know, whatever
- 19:24pledging and all that. Like obviously there's been a
- 19:26lot of movies made about it and you know and I don't know it's
- 19:29just accepted I think expelled spelled it out best for me when
- 19:33like even the main guy Justin Long's character like, says this
- 19:36whole speech about how stupid it is and how like people just want
- 19:40to be, you know, accepted for who they are and do what they
- 19:43want to do. And like now you're like, well
- 19:44no you got a bound to these hundred-year-old whatever
- 19:48fraternity rules and I don't, I don't know.
- 19:54I do like in Van Wilder when they're making them, jump on the
- 19:58glass and Tara Reid's. Like, don't relax guys, it's
- 20:01Doritos. And then like, they like do like
- 20:03a jig on top of them. Don't worry, you guys, it's
- 20:07Doritos. So, I guess you've never seen
- 20:10the movie Van Wilder, you should.
- 20:13It's obviously it's dated at this point, but Ryan Reynolds
- 20:16plays Van Wilder, a guy who's been in college for like, six
- 20:19plus years and who's not trying to get a doctorate, And it's a
- 20:22National Lampoon type movie. So it's almost like an Animal
- 20:26House. Spin-off kind of, we're like the
- 20:28guy from Animal House is his dad.
- 20:30Anyways, OK, hijinks in the insu whatever he's trying to date
- 20:35this Tara Reid's character who is like interviewing him because
- 20:38he's like the most popular dude on campus and then one can kind
- 20:41of get like a bead on them. And in doing that her boyfriend
- 20:45is like the head of a fraternity and their hazing a bunch of
- 20:49these new new pledges and they're like tied up.
- 20:52Up with blindfolds on like in their boxers standing on this
- 20:56thing and they're supposed to say, all right, you're going to
- 20:57jump into in front of you glass and you have to, you know walk
- 21:02on it or hot coals or something. I can't remember what it was
- 21:05there. Just like it was if you trust us
- 21:07or you know. Yeah.
- 21:07Yeah. And so as she's walking by them
- 21:10to leave she's gonna hate you. Look guys are just fucking
- 21:12Doritos. So before they count to three,
- 21:14they all jumped down and start doing like a jig on top of the
- 21:16Doritos because it's fucking three toes.
- 21:18So, it's a funny scene, it sounds awesome.
- 21:21Sounds like Always, it's really does.
- 21:23Well, yeah, that, yeah, I agree with that.
- 21:25But no, honestly, Van Wilder is a movie.
- 21:27That I always go back to you because it was like, Ryan,
- 21:29Reynolds finding out, who his character.
- 21:32What makes Ryan Reynolds famous now is him in that character
- 21:36role because he's, he's basically Deadpool, but in
- 21:38college and then there's there's another show that I tell
- 21:41everybody about back in the 90s who's called two guys a girl and
- 21:43a pizza place that he was in and you can see a lot of the same
- 21:48characteristics or the way he Sort of changed his acting
- 21:55figuring that out in that show and I, it's hard to find.
- 21:58It's you got to like buy the DVDs from me, the UK and shit.
- 22:00But being of Ryan Reynolds and Justin long, we just re-watched
- 22:04waiting. Not that long ago.
- 22:06Yeah we did it holds up, it does hey if you've worked in the
- 22:09restaurant industry like nothing has changed either, Jesse, and
- 22:14Jesse and I Jesse worked in the front.
- 22:16I worked in the kitchen. So we both really and that movie
- 22:19was made for you. Yeah, playing the goat.
- 22:25Okay. Okay.
- 22:25I have plenty of fun, fact. Okay, we've got some fun cameos
- 22:30in this movie. Uh-huh.
- 22:31Louis, Arquette. David Arquette's father place.
- 22:34The sheriff of the oh, really sir?
- 22:36Partment on Ice. Okay, and Kevin Williamson look
- 22:40familiar. Okay, that makes sense.
- 22:42Yep. And Kevin Williamson is the guy
- 22:44on TV at the beginning. That's interviewing cotton
- 22:45weary. Okay.
- 22:47Yeah, so he has his own little Kimmy.
- 22:49Oh I wish that they had David Arquette's sister in here to the
- 22:53girl, from The Nightmare on Elm Street series.
- 22:55What's her? Tricia are Patricia Arquette?
- 22:57Yeah. Wasn't she had scare fest last
- 22:59year? I don't know.
- 23:00She was, we had a lot of people from Nightmare franchise their
- 23:05last year though. Okay, Kevin Williamson gave a
- 23:09five page outline while auctioning, the original scream,
- 23:12script hoping to, you know, entice buyers that they'd be
- 23:15buying multiple movies at once. After a successful test
- 23:19screening and initial financial and critical The success of the
- 23:21first screen movie Dimension, decided to green-light the movie
- 23:25while it was still while Scream, one was still in theaters, okay?
- 23:29So the production began in March of 1997 filming began in June of
- 23:341997, and ran for nine weeks. It was a very short, short time
- 23:41table. Yeah.
- 23:42Like it is kind of impressive how quickly they turn this thing
- 23:45out. Yeah.
- 23:45And so, that contributed to some of the problems this movie is
- 23:49pretty a notorious for Onset production issues, because a
- 23:53copy of the script got leaked to the Internet.
- 23:55So people found out who the killers were so you know.
- 24:00Okay. So you probably have information
- 24:02on this. Yes.
- 24:03Let me get through it before, you ask questions, so they had
- 24:08to keep doing rewrites. Keep working on this.
- 24:11Sometimes they would be writing, they would be finishing up pages
- 24:15on set day of shooting, just due to that.
- 24:19Because on top of the very production schedule having to do
- 24:23these rewrites Kevin Williamson, who's obviously also tied up
- 24:26with multiple other projects going on at the same time,
- 24:29right? So sometimes he would have very
- 24:31detailed parts of the movie but then other parts of it were less
- 24:34detailed and West Craven would have to fill it in develop it
- 24:38more. Okay.
- 24:39So the initial killers were Derek Hallie cotton and Nancy
- 24:46Loomis. So they're going to be for that.
- 24:48We're going to be we're gonna double it.
- 24:49Yes. So high So who is Derek the the
- 24:53boyfriend? Yeah, so cotton Derek Nancy
- 24:56Loomis. And who was the fourth one
- 24:58Hallie throw me. Okay, wow, okay, hmm.
- 25:02So they when he rewrote who the killers were the IDS, their
- 25:08identities were kept super quiet, only provided to the
- 25:11people directly involved in the scene and only provided on the
- 25:14day of shooting, okay? To put to prevent any further
- 25:18leaks. So so, Oh does that make the
- 25:22movie better or worse? If they stayed with the original
- 25:27Killers to me? I don't like them being The
- 25:29Killers now. I don't like the thought of her.
- 25:32Having another boyfriend be to killer.
- 25:35Yeah. Right like okay.
- 25:37So I like the idea of how early, you know the roommate aspect of
- 25:41it. That's still an intimate
- 25:43betrayal, but it's a little bit different.
- 25:45Okay, hold on. What I at, sorry, I've been
- 25:49trying to say this for like five times.
- 25:52So, I had always read that this is kind of bullshit because I
- 25:57thought that they distributed fake scripts to prevent this.
- 26:02It's part of my fun facts. Okay.
- 26:04So in 2017, Kevin Williamson, said that they had dummy drafts
- 26:10that they purposefully leaked with three supposed dummy
- 26:13endings. Now, I don't know how much, I
- 26:15believe that. You think that's really in
- 26:17truly? Yeah.
- 26:18He's trying to just like cover. Yeah.
- 26:20Okay. That's that's how it feels to me
- 26:22because there are some parts of this movie.
- 26:24Like it doesn't feel like Mickey was super involved throughout
- 26:27most of the movie. He's just kind of inserted here
- 26:30and there he seems like the most random decision for a killer
- 26:34because I don't understand his motive other than him being
- 26:37obsessed with some goodies and he's a psychopath apparently.
- 26:40Yeah yeah yeah. And they just kind of he feels
- 26:42very plugged in. Yeah.
- 26:44Yeah. You also disappears halfway
- 26:45through the movie? Yeah, exactly.
- 26:47That's true. Yeah he does.
- 26:48So it does feel Feel like there was potentially some so and I
- 26:53could see him wanting to like preserve the legacy of scream
- 26:57and you know, just say this is the movie we wanted to put out.
- 27:02Do I necessarily believe it? I don't know.
- 27:04Yeah, I could see that. I wonder how he feels about not
- 27:08being involved in this series. Now I don't know.
- 27:11He's counting his money in the corner.
- 27:12Go do whatever you want. Yeah probably the audition for
- 27:17the role of Derek for Jerry O'Connell and everybody else
- 27:20that audition for it was the I think I love you seen.
- 27:22That's what I would think. It would have to be right you
- 27:24got it, nailed that. And then finally the MPAA they
- 27:30had Filmed way gory or stuff and put it into the original cut,
- 27:36that they submitted to the MPAA after having to go through eight
- 27:41cut for the first one, to get an R rating.
- 27:44They were ready, they were like, okay, we're going to make this
- 27:46way gory or than we actually want it to be.
- 27:48So that way we have stuff we can cut down and have the movie we
- 27:51want. And then the MPAA was fine with
- 27:54all of the violence because they thought that the message
- 27:56Justified, it the message. Yeah.
- 27:59What's the message that like violence?
- 28:01Media causes Killers or some so let's make a violin.
- 28:07Yeah, movie. So we can get more Killers out
- 28:09there. Great.
- 28:10Okay. No, no, I think it's the other
- 28:12way around, I think it's them saying that in your face to go,
- 28:16oh no, it's the opposite violence in media and stuff.
- 28:20Like this isn't what caused Killers, you know.
- 28:23MPAA is a bunch of puritanical like Fanatics.
- 28:27There's no way that they would have that kind of
- 28:29self-awareness. Well I agree.
- 28:31With that. Here's my not a Counterpoint.
- 28:33So what you said, but a Counterpoint to, they had to put
- 28:36multiple Tay or multiple Cuts together in.
- 28:39This is what we got and it's still our look at like fucking
- 28:43RoboCop. He gets decimated in that
- 28:47opening scene in ripped apart and there's blood flying
- 28:50everywhere. That's fine.
- 28:52We can give that an R but you can't show somebody being
- 28:54stabbed in the chest a couple times because like when her
- 28:58roommate gets killed spoilers for scream too, if you haven't.
- 29:01In it since 98, they like cut away, when she gets stabbed and
- 29:08then Cuts back, you know, cuts to Sydney going, oh my God, and
- 29:11then it comes back to him and then the nice like, in the air
- 29:13and it's like, did she get stabbed?
- 29:16Is she alive? So they didn't do any Cuts then,
- 29:19right? That's what you're saying.
- 29:20I think they did actually still cut some stuff out.
- 29:23Just based on what I was reading like, they had Omar Epps with
- 29:27the beginning getting some like they reuse the stabbing Rashad
- 29:32way more times than actually ends up in the Final Cut.
- 29:35Okay, we can, we talk about that scene yet?
- 29:38Well, we're getting ready to go into our discussion of it.
- 29:41Okay, never mind. Okay, okay.
- 29:43So before we get into it, as always, what do you think, is
- 29:48the good, the bad, the ugly, and the Absurd of this movie and
- 29:52what would be your rating out of 10?
- 29:54Steve go. Okay, so the good of this movie
- 29:58is we got movies after it, okay? Right?
- 30:03Like it was it made enough money to continue the screen franchise
- 30:06and we're still seeing that. And we're getting, I would say
- 30:10there's two movies in, not in line, but after this, that are
- 30:13really, really good compared to other movies that are in this
- 30:17franchise. So, without this movie making,
- 30:19as much money, as it did to continue it, we wouldn't have
- 30:22gotten those movies on times, we can go for, and honestly sixes
- 30:25is up there. Six is a lot of fun.
- 30:29We're not gonna talk about. Yeah.
- 30:31So I think that's well okay. The other good is there is a
- 30:37Cavalcade of actors in this movie that went on to do a lot
- 30:42of other things. This is a huge cast of people
- 30:45that like, holy shit like was this on their upswing, or were
- 30:50there people that were not known at this point that they're
- 30:54throwing them in here like bro. Luke Wilson showing up as Billy
- 30:58Loomis. I completely forgot about And
- 31:01I'm like, yo, I want to see the alternate take or the alternate
- 31:05Dimension version of Screams. Fuck it.
- 31:07I want to see stabbed, I want to.
- 31:09Yes, ma'am. That's why you're talking about.
- 31:11I want to watch Luke Wilson as Billy in stabbed.
- 31:16I want that one of my ideas for a future screen movie is you
- 31:20think you go to the theater? You think you're watching the
- 31:22next screen and then, right? Until the end of the movie, you
- 31:25get the credits and says, stabbed do do music.
- 31:28You just watch stabbed the entire time and it would, it
- 31:31would make sense. Sense, right?
- 31:32Because the whole idea of scream is being a meta commentary on
- 31:35horror movies. So like now I ya know that would
- 31:40work, you just you change a little bit up here and there you
- 31:43make the same movie and you just say it's a, it's a reboot of the
- 31:47franchise, right? You, you marketed as that and
- 31:49you call it scream and you don't say anything else.
- 31:52Just this is the rear starting from square one.
- 31:55And then, literally, they play the entirety of the same movie.
- 31:58Obviously got to change it a little bit to make it new.
- 32:01But then, The end this is step and years ahead.
- 32:05Fuck yeah they boom me they got me hard.
- 32:08I like it now. Anyway, so back to other good.
- 32:10So there's some good acting in this.
- 32:13I think some of the scenes with Sidney Prescott like breaking
- 32:17down in like, Kind of coming to terms with whatever the she's
- 32:22dealing with his she does very well in that Beyond I'm trying
- 32:28to be positive. You don't even get a lot of the
- 32:32screen voice in the movie, right?
- 32:34Right. Yeah.
- 32:36It's a man Jackson, right? Even then it's very not is
- 32:42intense. Like I know in the newer ones,
- 32:44he's an older dudes. He's got more of a.
- 32:45What's your favorite scary movie voice?
- 32:47But like I The first scream, having a better voice, you know,
- 32:53this one, maybe they made it not as good because it's them using
- 32:58something else as a voice changer.
- 32:59Whatever. I don't know, it's also hard
- 33:03like when you're looking back on it you know after having watched
- 33:06multiple babies in the franchise because I think comparing any
- 33:10Ghostface phone calls when you get the absolute theory that
- 33:15exists in scream for those are some of the most graphic.
- 33:19And violent phone calls and the franchise.
- 33:21Yeah, definitely, true. I would say.
- 33:25That's all I got for, for good. I mean, I like the idea of them
- 33:30playing with that, okay, movies and media, and video games, even
- 33:35they don't touch on it, but doing violent acts in those type
- 33:39of things cause people to do violent acts in real-life.
- 33:43Obviously me personally, I don't believe in that because I feel
- 33:46like if you're that type of person you're just going to do
- 33:48it anyways. And And you watching something
- 33:51are playing a video games I can be like fuck yeah let's go.
- 33:54You know what I mean? I think it's are.
- 33:55It's in you already, right? You're going to do it and there
- 33:58was a what was the de Jeffrey Dahmer?
- 34:00Show that just came out. Yeah, there's a scene in that
- 34:03where he's like talking to a preacher and the preacher was
- 34:06saying something about, like why are there more serial killers
- 34:09now than there were years ago, right?
- 34:12Obviously, this is in the 90s but and I don't think there ever
- 34:15was, I think it's number one, were able to catch these people.
- 34:19Oh, easier and figure them out in before we were in a lawless.
- 34:23State of just go do whatever you want.
- 34:25So there's people probably killing people all the time and
- 34:27just nobody knew about it, right?
- 34:28So you can have serial killers that have been killing for.
- 34:32You know, decades and nobody has any idea about it.
- 34:36So the fact that were in that oh well this causes violence and
- 34:40people are doing this and that, and that it's like, no, you
- 34:44know. Now you can look at today and
- 34:45we're not going to go into this, but why are we having an influx
- 34:48of things, right? Well, this is a completely
- 34:50different situation. I think we're in now, with
- 34:53mental health and stuff like that, which you could look back
- 34:54then and say that too. But whatever going to the bad of
- 34:58this movie. Number one, the story I'm kind
- 35:02of Dove on the thought of they did have to rewrite this and
- 35:06make it work because of certain things that came out obviously
- 35:11you can look at Marvel movies and certain things where they
- 35:13did this on purpose like we're throwing 17 scripts out there
- 35:17and one of them might be right that way.
- 35:19If it does get leaked. Oops.
- 35:22You know, I mean, who knows which one it is and I feel like
- 35:24this might have been the movie that made all that stuff after
- 35:28happen and they're like you said, oh no, we do that on
- 35:31purpose to kind of You know, save face.
- 35:34I think this really happened and they were like, what are we
- 35:37gonna do now? I like them going back to two
- 35:41killers. I like Timothy Olyphant and
- 35:44everything he's ever done. I like them in this role, but
- 35:47Travis, you said it right? Is.
- 35:49What is his motivation here to be a killer?
- 35:52Yeah, yeah. It doesn't make any sense.
- 35:55It doesn't to me other than he's a psychopath and she found him
- 35:58online. Right?
- 35:59Okay. Obviously we know her
- 36:01motivation. That's pretty easy.
- 36:03But why? I don't know.
- 36:06Also who is Ghostface when they're killing everybody.
- 36:11Right? I don't see Nancy Loomis.
- 36:13Oh, I think she definitely made Mickey the the Fall Guy for most
- 36:17of that. Yeah, he was the muscle for most
- 36:19of it. Yeah, probably right because
- 36:21look at the the first kill and I mean, can I get into it now, not
- 36:25yet? Okay.
- 36:26All right, if you look at all the kills in the movie, Which
- 36:30one could it have been Nancy? Besides Randy, I think.
- 36:34Yeah, I was gonna say Randy. But other than that, I can't
- 36:36really think maybe like, at the recording booth.
- 36:39Yeah, I was going to say chasing Galen, do around the, the
- 36:42building. Yeah.
- 36:43But I think it makes more sense for it to be Mickey because he
- 36:46is a film student. So he would know his way around
- 36:48that bill through true. Right now this gets into my
- 36:51slapstick comedy version of scream to throughout this whole
- 36:55movie. You could put the Benny Hill
- 36:56theme song over top of it, over top of him trying to kill
- 36:59people. It works.
- 37:00I mean, that's better for most goes faces though.
- 37:03Yeah. But this movie in particular
- 37:06like it. I don't know why everything
- 37:08about it. Felt very slapstick comedy.
- 37:10Like, you could take out the horror, you know, composure
- 37:15behind at the music behind it and add in a goof, you know,
- 37:18music Trope, whatever thing and everything kind of just fits and
- 37:21works. And I want to see that cut of
- 37:23the movie and I feel like it would be a better cut.
- 37:27What writing would you give it out of 10?
- 37:29Mmm. So the I so I thought about this
- 37:31for a while because after I watched it I watched you
- 37:33yesterday. Scream has a space in the horror
- 37:39genre of being that, you know, this has been here forever and
- 37:43it's played on all the different tropes and things and it's
- 37:46trying to be met and it's trying to do this going back and
- 37:49watching this again. After Scream, Six, I think has
- 37:51changed my thought process on this movie because I actually
- 37:54used to, like, this movie. And again, the cast is huge.
- 37:56There's so many people in this movie and like, it felt And it
- 38:00still feels like a 90's movie, the first screen for whatever
- 38:04reason, feels Timeless. This movie, feels like it is
- 38:07stuck in 98 and that could be good, but I feel like in this
- 38:12one, it's bad, especially when it comes to the kills, when it
- 38:16comes to the gore Enos when it comes to them, talking about,
- 38:19upping the ante and then, just not doing it.
- 38:22That's gonna fall in like a 5 out of 10 for me.
- 38:25Oh, okay, okay. So do you do put this at the
- 38:28bottom? Of your tier list of all the
- 38:31movies, or is it just kind of at the lower end screen 5 is at the
- 38:36bottom and then this is right above it but not by much.
- 38:39All right, all right Travis. Okay, so the good, I feel like
- 38:44this is a pretty strong follow-up.
- 38:48I don't really have any issues with it personally.
- 38:50I mean there are things like I think it could be better at but
- 38:54honestly I feel like it did a good job of like it's still
- 38:58entertaining. It didn't like A shark or
- 39:00anything like that. Like I don't feel like it
- 39:02doesn't need to exist or anything.
- 39:04I think. I feel like if anything it could
- 39:07have like the same thing as like any middle movie in a Trilogy
- 39:10has like that middle movie syndrome, you know what I mean?
- 39:13We're like it's not like nothing about it, like really stands
- 39:16out. Other than that, I can't really
- 39:18say anything. The bad.
- 39:20I think. I feel like it doesn't
- 39:22necessarily have a good commentary, like some of the
- 39:25other ones do that might be part of it because like the first one
- 39:28is making it. So, Whole stance on slashers the
- 39:32third one is doing the whole thing about trilogies, but the
- 39:36second one it like kind of what we talked about tries to make a
- 39:39point about being sequels and how they're different.
- 39:41But then again, it doesn't really do anything they like set
- 39:44itself apart from the first one, the ugly.
- 39:50Yeah. There's not a whole lot of ugly.
- 39:52I guess. Like The Hazing bullshit can be
- 39:54seen as ugly because that stuff does suck and the Absurd Rebecca
- 40:00Gayheart, Rebecca Gayheart. It's back in this thing.
- 40:03Better. Be a good absurd.
- 40:04It's a good absurd. Yeah, I wish that we got like
- 40:06the unhinged urban legend version of Rebecca Gayheart.
- 40:10But we don't. We still get like her being
- 40:12herself though. So it's all good.
- 40:14I'm going to give this 88 Alton. It's still out there.
- 40:20Yeah, it's up there. Like, it's one of my favorites
- 40:23in the series. Like I it's like not anything
- 40:25remarkable but like, I still have a good time watching it
- 40:29every time. Can't explain it man for me to
- 40:31do you for me. The good is I think it's a
- 40:34really good follow-up. I think I think it's a little
- 40:37bit more than the middle in a Trilogy because it does set up
- 40:41Sydney is story arc in the rest of the franchise.
- 40:45Pretty significantly, I'm not in a middle of the franchise kind
- 40:50of way but in a like I don't know.
- 40:52It feels like we're seeing her Try to be strong and go on with
- 40:57her life and then she's going to like, we get this nice little
- 41:00like, roller coaster for her, you know, where she's like,
- 41:03trying to move on, but she's got some hesitation.
- 41:06And then, oh, this is why she had that hesitation and three.
- 41:09She's going to basically isolate herself and then Force where she
- 41:12coming back out. Yeah, the bad.
- 41:17I do think you like I was saying before, I think that you can
- 41:20tell that there was rewrites going on, Mickey feels very
- 41:24forced Forced. Yeah, like I think if he had
- 41:28been sprinkled in throughout the movie a little bit more, it
- 41:31would feel different, but it just feels like we need a second
- 41:34killer, we're going to pull him in, right?
- 41:36Yeah. The ugly wine stains are still
- 41:39very much. Oh God.
- 41:40Yeah. Miramax.
- 41:45And then, the Absurd, I think David Arquette's choice to live
- 41:51and yeah, attempting to justify it.
- 41:53Always cracks me up. Oh God, yeah, they should They
- 41:55should have said, hey, David, like I do a back a little bit,
- 41:59please. I feel like, and I don't know if
- 42:00this is true because I didn't see this when I was researching
- 42:02for today, but I feel like I'd read or heard somewhere that he
- 42:06made the choice to limp, and they just worked with it.
- 42:09Weston, have the heart to tell him, he's a hardened.
- 42:13So it's not so much as look, man.
- 42:16I know you're trying your best to act here but you're just,
- 42:18you're just not good at it. So I really love.
- 42:21This is a follow-up and I'm going to give it a 99, okay?
- 42:26I like the we're like we got somebody who's kind of men on
- 42:29and somebody. That's why can't somebody that
- 42:31loves it. Yeah, that's good. 7.33 is the
- 42:34starting average less, rude. All right, we started off at the
- 42:39Rialto Theater. Steve, you've been chomping at
- 42:41the bit? Take it away.
- 42:42Talk about it. All right.
- 42:44Number one. Fuck watches a movie without
- 42:47watching a movie. Like if this is the first time,
- 42:50these people are seeing this movie because this is like a
- 42:52sneak preview or something they said or whatever.
- 42:55All these people are like hooting and hollering and
- 42:57jumping around before the movies like just starting.
- 42:59Yeah no, this is like my nightmare for theater
- 43:02experience. I can't only if it's something
- 43:05that I have seen a hundred times before and we're just kind of
- 43:07there to hang out while brightly's on.
- 43:10So you have one guy at the Kentucky theater.
- 43:12That got mad at us during Evil Dead.
- 43:14Yeah, exactly. Yeah, at the free showing of
- 43:16Evil Dead, get a good Madam, eat a free showing.
- 43:19I don't think so. Anyways.
- 43:20So these people have not seen this movie yet but they seem
- 43:23like they're Mega fans. Why wouldn't they be?
- 43:25Be fucking their butts in the seats, like paying attention.
- 43:28Nope, we're going to be / and people with these cool ask
- 43:31backlight knives, which I want by the way and you know
- 43:35everybody gets ghost Mass face obviously like that's cool.
- 43:38They everybody, you know cool obviously what happens right my
- 43:41other qualms number one why you can bring a girl to a movie who
- 43:46doesn't want to see said movie Forcing you to go there.
- 43:50So I'll also it happens to be Who Will Smith's wife and so
- 43:56then whatever Shenanigans she goes and gets what popcorn soda
- 44:01and something else. And I'm sure it was like five
- 44:03dollars at that point. Also, that was a small popcorn,
- 44:08I'm jealous. She must really married.
- 44:11Yeah. Oh yeah.
- 44:12It was pretty big, so yeah. Okay, she does that whatever.
- 44:15So now the guy comes out. Does this thing we see the The
- 44:18murder scene. This is where I have like major
- 44:21qualms with this. If that's who we think it is.
- 44:25It's not the woman. Obviously, it's Tim is making
- 44:28the only field Mickey. Yeah, he's got to be one strong
- 44:32motherfucker to stab through. Not only a particle board,
- 44:37bathroom, partition perfectly going through it without
- 44:42breaking particleboard apart and then into a motherfuckers head.
- 44:46Also, he needs to know where that guy's head is.
- 44:48Placed on said, partition, I see him.
- 44:52I think I think that that might actually be the Nancy because
- 44:58whenever you hear the voice over in the stall, the voice is more
- 45:02feminine than, like, Timothy. All we need to the been, like
- 45:05she's doing a very Pamela Voorhees, killing my be true.
- 45:09But if he's a, if he's a movie student who this is his life, he
- 45:13could deal with, know, all that and true.
- 45:15Maybe he's just doing it under his breath.
- 45:18He could do it. So this was like targeted
- 45:21though, right? Like why is why are these people
- 45:23getting killed him though? Because their names are more
- 45:25recent and Steve right? Or they go to the same College.
- 45:28That's a whole there's a whole scene explaining this Travis I
- 45:32have never known their names. I just wrote her down as like
- 45:36the actor, like Jada and then I did get together do the same.
- 45:40So let's go there. There's a scene in which the cop
- 45:43there goes Maureen. Phil Stevens.
- 45:51See fees full name is Casey, over my head, didn't pay
- 45:55attention at that. And that's when they figure out
- 45:57that there is a pattern to the killers and that this is
- 46:00targeting the screen, Peter, the, you know, people from the
- 46:03first movie because before I was like, oh, these are just random
- 46:06killings kind of thing. So that's when they go out with
- 46:09Randy and they're like, trying to find him, I'm pretty sure his
- 46:12like close to the next scene. Okay.
- 46:14So again, how is that person? In finding out where this dude
- 46:20is listening in, and why? And I know it's a movie, I know,
- 46:24but he whoever the killer was is not going to be able to strike
- 46:29with enough, Force through that bathroom, whatever into that
- 46:34guy's head with a nice open, you know, a nice through it.
- 46:40I feel bad for Maureen and the scene, because first of all,
- 46:43this character gets a lot more hate than she deserves, and it's
- 46:47kind of Does it what to be there?
- 46:50She wanted to be studying, she had a test, she did, she came
- 46:53along for her boyfriend sake, she doesn't like scaring
- 46:56goodies. But then she even apologized and
- 46:58she's like, okay, well that watch the movie and she tries to
- 47:01cuddle up to him. Oh no, it's a killer.
- 47:03And I think Abba nobody's helping I think if you go into
- 47:06that situation willingly with all that stuff known and you're
- 47:10like wow, duly complaining, about the whole thing the entire
- 47:13time. Like I think that that is kind
- 47:15of shitty like oh my God, I didn't want to go eye.
- 47:18I didn't want to come to this like, but, you know, I'd rather
- 47:21be studying, but I'm going to go for you, and then, but I'm going
- 47:24to be complaining about it the entire time.
- 47:26Even though I didn't have to be here, you know what I mean?
- 47:29There's a Scary Movie. 2 does depends on their relationship
- 47:33Dynamic though. Because think about when I went
- 47:35to go see the new Dragon Ball movie with you and you didn't
- 47:38warn me that the Red Ribbon Army was a huge fucking part of it.
- 47:43Yeah. And I still give you shit for
- 47:45that. Yeah.
- 47:46But you didn't do it, like, in the theater.
- 47:48Or like, complaining while we were doing it, you know,
- 47:50everybody else is being loud in that theater too, though.
- 47:52I know. But I mean, so something like
- 47:54about enjoying it collectively and then somebody just shitting
- 47:57on it the entire time. I just think that people are too
- 47:59harsh on this character, that's all okay.
- 48:02Yeah, I don't it's Jesus Smith. She's yelling over top of even
- 48:06the people that are having a good time enjoying their time,
- 48:09their she's yelling at, you know, the screen.
- 48:11Oh, don't do this, don't do that.
- 48:12Sure, you can do that. But Scary Movie 2 played this,
- 48:16the best where they re-enacted In, she's doing the same stuff
- 48:21and then gets murdered by everybody in the theater because
- 48:24she's being too loud being an obviously, obviously, people
- 48:27didn't murder her, this but I don't know.
- 48:29I do the whole, the first part of this movie.
- 48:31You're the first scene of this movie just makes me go, ma'am
- 48:34goddamn, fuck this like do something better.
- 48:38So we cut to Sydney getting a phone call and it's somebody
- 48:42pretending to be Ghostface who has not heard of caller ID yet.
- 48:46And so she starts quoting the Penal code and the guy goes look
- 48:50amazing on its 98 people don't know what color it is. 97 start
- 48:5697, it's okay. Now that's 97-98 though.
- 49:04She sees Cotton On TV being interviewed so she's kind of got
- 49:08a little paws of moment. How Ali wants her to come to the
- 49:13Delta Lambda Zeta mixer that night and Sydney's not.
- 49:16So sure about it. Then there's a News Bulletin
- 49:19that says that Maureen and Phil were murdered at the Rialto
- 49:23Theater the night before and Sydney immediately was like oh
- 49:27God. So she goes to find Randy who is
- 49:31film class in film class and he is like fucking in his element
- 49:35here. He's this almost feels like it's
- 49:38Randy's own fantasy of how it is for him in college.
- 49:43Yeah, this isn't actually how it plays out.
- 49:45This is all in his head like in reality, everybody just can't.
- 49:48Stand him because he just has everything this, a like
- 49:50something to say about every movie and he's also wrong about
- 49:53the aliens quote, is he? Yeah, aliens is better than
- 49:57alien. Is that your opinion?
- 49:59That's my opinion. Now, if you're looking at it as
- 50:02a horror movie Alien, is better than aliens, but if you're
- 50:06looking at it as a whole movie with storytelling and everything
- 50:10wrapped up nicely in a ball, aliens is the superior film.
- 50:14No, I'm not talking about the superiority.
- 50:17One versus the other. Whole different discussion.
- 50:19I'm talking about the get away from her, you bitch line.
- 50:21Oh, isn't it? Mickey got it, right?
- 50:24Yeah. And Randy.
- 50:26Tried to correct him and he was wrong.
- 50:28Really? Yes, is that not done on
- 50:30purpose? Then I don't know.
- 50:33Think about who he's talking to here, right?
- 50:35He's talking to the Killer and I again, going back to other
- 50:38screen movies because if you know, who the Killer is from the
- 50:41beginning, they dropping hints through this whole thing the
- 50:44entire time. Who's the first person you see?
- 50:48Owing to Randy the fucking killer, he's already killed him
- 50:51because he corrected them. You don't fucking correct me,
- 50:54you're on my way right now. So another thing that they keep
- 50:57dropping through this movie is talking about mothers and they
- 51:00even bring up Angela Voorhees at one point or they talk about
- 51:03this you know where he is start Pamela what did I say?
- 51:06Is Angela woke up late today. It's been a it's been a week and
- 51:12anyways so they also show Mickey with a video camera.
- 51:16A couple times, right? Right.
- 51:18And then what do you see later with Dewey?
- 51:20And I'm going to say Monica because I can't see her anything
- 51:25but Monica, I know it's Gale weathers but I can't see her as
- 51:28anything but Monica. So you see them together,
- 51:32watching that video and then all of a sudden, it's a videotape of
- 51:34the Killer's perspective in like, if you're paying
- 51:37attention, you're that guy any film student, you know, he's
- 51:41always like a carrying the camera around to it's like,
- 51:44that's what recession, right? Yeah, right?
- 51:46Yeah, makes sense. Yeah.
- 51:48As class dismisses, Randy really doesn't want to talk to Sydney
- 51:51about it. He's kind of in denial about
- 51:53this could potentially be a new killer coming after them.
- 51:57Derek joins in. And that's how we find out,
- 51:59Sydney's got a new boyfriend and Randy's mad about it.
- 52:03We're in D, Gail shows up, her hair is terrible, but her dress
- 52:07is hot. It's like the Harry gets
- 52:10progressively worse each movie. Next one is like we talked about
- 52:14her bangs. Yeah, I don't care.
- 52:17I love this. The hair in this movie because
- 52:18again, going back to this movie. Feels like, it is trapped in the
- 52:2190s. Yeah, Fuckin Time Capsule.
- 52:24I love. Do is line.
- 52:26Nice streaks. Keep them.
- 52:28Yeah, he meant that as a bird. She's got a new camera, man
- 52:35named Joel. There's a journalist movie.
- 52:38Yes, absolutely. This journalist comes out to her
- 52:42name's Debbie salt. She's like, I loved your book
- 52:45asking if she could get a quote, you know.
- 52:48She and I love Laurie Metcalf. So it's nice seeing her in this
- 52:52room. She plays out really well.
- 52:54I think I grabbed, there is a press conference.
- 52:59The other reporters are wanting interviews with Gail.
- 53:03It's so funny because Gales like asking the chief questions and
- 53:06then the interview the reporters are like turning to her asking
- 53:09her questions. It's going to spin the whole
- 53:11violence in movies thing though. Kind of like what we were
- 53:13talking about before Rebecca Gayheart appears.
- 53:18That's my whole note is Rebekah Gay.
- 53:20Her she is one of the sorority sisters that Hallie is trying to
- 53:24join the sorority of. Let's see Dewey appears, he's
- 53:29worried about Sydney and came in to check on.
- 53:31Okay. This though.
- 53:32This is so fun. I feel like they're doing him
- 53:35dirty here because he looks so lost.
- 53:38Like, he's limping absurdly. And then he's also just kind of
- 53:42looking around like whoa, what is this magical place?
- 53:44It's just like, what the fuck is a campus and Gail has to go over
- 53:49there and like find him and like rescue him and like hold his
- 53:52hand. He tells Sydney that the Killer
- 53:56is probably already in her life. So she needs to be on high alert
- 54:00and he doesn't look like. He feels good telling her that
- 54:03knows. Oh, do we Gail approaches,
- 54:08Sydney and blindsides her with cotton and shitty stuff right
- 54:13there? Yeah.
- 54:14Trying to do like an on-the-spot interview and Sydney's like,
- 54:17what the hell? They get a puncheon.
- 54:19Yay! Yay!
- 54:20I love that. The recurring thing in this
- 54:22franchise is Gail getting punished for being a dick.
- 54:25Yeah, I just don't understand what she was thinking here.
- 54:27Like so she thought that her in Cotton were cool with it, right?
- 54:31Because cotton thought that this was like a planned interview and
- 54:35when Sydney is like, what the hell?
- 54:37I'm gonna go with. Uh, so to like, no, she storms
- 54:40off field knew what she was doing, but it's kinda shitty
- 54:42like you would think that after everything they went through, In
- 54:44the last movie, that they would be cool.
- 54:46They are not friends. That's, they have never been
- 54:49friends. They will never be friends.
- 54:51The most they will have, is kind of a mutual sort of respect for
- 54:54one another survival instincts, it become friends, and Faith are
- 54:57not friends in five. They are not friends.
- 54:59They have a mutual respect, they are not friends, I will die out.
- 55:03Somebody didn't show. I was going to say somebody
- 55:05didn't show up in the last movie, so they were friends. so,
- 55:13Gail, and do we have this, like She's trying to discussion.
- 55:18Yeah she's trying to talk to Dewey who goes by Dwight now
- 55:22it's like it's white. It's get his name right respect.
- 55:24Yeah, he's so pissed off at the way that she portrayed him in
- 55:28her book though because he's he reeks of an experience
- 55:33basically. So the room with his Barney Fife
- 55:36fish energy. Do we do the room?
- 55:39Do wish we could? He knows the page numbers to so
- 55:43yeah, he's pissed. Yeah, is he?
- 55:45He and he reads her for Filth there, during all of this too.
- 55:51So we cut that night to the Delta Lambda Zeta mixer.
- 55:56My favorite line of this entire movie is Portia, de Rossi who
- 56:00comes up, they really want Sydney to join the sorority.
- 56:02She goes. Hi, no, I really mean that high
- 56:06said that like five times to all of our pets.
- 56:09Awesome. Tell you loves the word.
- 56:13Hi, she does. Yes.
- 56:13She loves being greeted more. Anything in the world.
- 56:19Make us back to the sorority house, where we get Buffy, or CC
- 56:24in this movie. I gotta think that she's in this
- 56:26because of, I Know What You Did Last Summer, right because she
- 56:29already has an existing relationship with Kevin
- 56:31Williamson. Well, I mean, this filming was
- 56:33going on almost simultaneously. Yeah, so this was this was just
- 56:37a breakout year for Sarah, Michelle Gellar has.
- 56:39This is also the first year of Buffy like this is just as just
- 56:43a busy year for her. She actually wanted to be
- 56:44involved in this because Of the success of the first one.
- 56:47So, the shame that she's not a bigger character in this though.
- 56:50Yeah, but I do like the moment we get with her.
- 56:54She's, you know, she was in that film class at the beginning
- 56:57arguing about horror movie sequels and Mickey's boner for
- 57:03Cameron. Yeah, I think that he has a good
- 57:06point. James Cameron, he walks into a
- 57:08franchise. He kind of makes a better movie
- 57:09than you did. You're not wrong!
- 57:14She gets a call, and she has Who's it's her boyfriend.
- 57:17Ted who's apparently? Just a douche when he is drunk.
- 57:21Yeah. But then she she realizes, it's
- 57:25not Ted and she gets really creeped out and she's like,
- 57:28trying to lock the doors and I just think it's also funny that
- 57:32knows for us to use on TV since you know, this is the same year.
- 57:36She started as Buffy. Yeah.
- 57:40Yeah, I think it was 100%. Okay, what was Billy actually?
- 57:44Probably show it. Yeah.
- 57:45I mean, Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a movie first.
- 57:48Yeah, I know. But like, did they?
- 57:50So was she already doing Buffy at this point, in which she
- 57:53about to do Buffy? She was already.
- 57:55Okay, it's confusing. Okay, I guess.
- 57:58Yeah, this is a late movie. This came out.
- 57:59Yes, Amber. Yeah.
- 58:00Okay. Yeah, she ends up getting killed
- 58:05and thrown from a balcony and us, it's sad.
- 58:09I'm still on my first page of notes and Sarah.
- 58:11Michelle Gellar's already gone. Yeah, it is unfortunate.
- 58:14We cut to a new scene ever clears playing, I'm never mad
- 58:19about Everclear being on a soundtrack, which happens in a
- 58:21lot of 90s movies. Makes me happy.
- 58:24You like Everclear, they're trying to recruit recruit Sydney
- 58:31against panel. Standards there.
- 58:35This is not how sorority recruitment supposed to work.
- 58:37Is this at that party? The Frat party.
- 58:40Yes. There that we're back at the
- 58:42back at the mixer. This is when they hear the
- 58:44sirens over at the Omega beta Zeta house.
- 58:47Yeah, the cops break up the party.
- 58:48Yeah. And then we get some red right
- 58:51hand action. Yeah, you get some red right
- 58:52hand. There's a lot of that in this
- 58:53movie, it's in the beginning to write.
- 58:56Well, yeah, walking in the theater, it's point.
- 58:58I think that's a nice touch. I wonder if that.
- 59:00Like, do you think that that plays instead?
- 59:02A ball. So I would hope you would have
- 59:04to. Yeah.
- 59:05Okay. So there's a phone ringing
- 59:07inside the house after the party disbands and cydney goes inside,
- 59:10the answer it, for whatever reason.
- 59:12I don't know, because this isn't her house.
- 59:14This is yeah. Why would she think that she?
- 59:17Like, I feel like she just feels this responsibility to answer
- 59:21phones now. Just in case everything I was
- 59:23faced this is like, okay, I'm gonna answer this phone, maybe
- 59:26it'll get me killed. I don't know.
- 59:29Meanwhile, W is filling Galen on What happened?
- 59:32So that's kind of a red flag Debbie.
- 59:36Yeah, so when Sydney answers, the phone Ghostface attacks, her
- 59:40she ends up running out back. She calls for Derek as she's
- 59:43running. He grabs her.
- 59:45He's like, okay, you're okay. And then he runs in because he's
- 59:48going to try and get Ghostface and Dewey runs in because he
- 59:51thinks he's going to help Derek gets attacked and ghost-faced
- 59:55runs off. See now, this right here is
- 59:57seems like like leftovers of when he would have been the
- 1:00:01Killer. Killer, right?
- 1:00:02Because he goes in there to try and stop the Killer and then he
- 1:00:05like just get stabbed and then like the person runs away like
- 1:00:08you just like barely gets wash. And usually, that is a tel for
- 1:00:13somebody being a ghost face because it happened in five.
- 1:00:15Also like if somebody gets like goes in there to confront them
- 1:00:18and they just get likes washed and then nothing else happens.
- 1:00:21Usually that person ends up being a ghostface to happens
- 1:00:24before this, all the arteries and everything.
- 1:00:26Barely got cut, it's fairly inconvenient.
- 1:00:30Exactly. So there at the police station
- 1:00:33being questioned. Derek is getting stitched up, do
- 1:00:38we call as out? The fact that he's Premed, it
- 1:00:40was like it's pretty convenient that you're pre-med and not hurt
- 1:00:44and Randy. Later calls out the exact same
- 1:00:46thing. So yeah, all of these red flags
- 1:00:49that were probably in there before the initial script leak.
- 1:00:52Yeah. This is where they've got the
- 1:00:56big pool. All the dogs in the neighborhood
- 1:01:00are barking. This is where they have the
- 1:01:05Whiteboard and they're trying to like, figure out a pattern,
- 1:01:08trying to figure out any possible suspects.
- 1:01:10And this is where they've written out all of the victims
- 1:01:13so far and they figure out the pattern of Maureen Steve and
- 1:01:19Casey anytime that I hear the name.
- 1:01:21Maureen. I just think of her mom.
- 1:01:23Yeah, I feel like, it all goes back to her anyways.
- 1:01:25So like I just, I guess I didn't connect the dots at that was the
- 1:01:28girl in the beginning. Yeah.
- 1:01:30Well and that was the whole point is that it To tie it back
- 1:01:32to gadgets, but that's like a very, very loose way to tie it
- 1:01:35back but okay, sure. Also.
- 1:01:37What are the odds that those two would be in a relationship
- 1:01:39together? You know what I mean?
- 1:01:41Come on. Maybe that's why they chose
- 1:01:42those two. Sure.
- 1:01:45It's a big campus, just looking for names of fit.
- 1:01:47Yeah, yeah, I mean Phil Stevens. The Steve isn't even the first
- 1:01:51name, you know. It's his last name.
- 1:01:53So they made it work, they made it work.
- 1:01:55And CC is what she goes by her. Actual name is Casey, so they
- 1:01:59stretched it. Okay.
- 1:02:00Then Okay. Okay.
- 1:02:03I don't think you're in a place to argue this one.
- 1:02:05You apparently blocked out that entire scene in your brain.
- 1:02:07Travis that's fair, that's fair. I had no right.
- 1:02:10All right also where they trying to kill Sidney then at that
- 1:02:14point because they're still not through the list of people from
- 1:02:17the first movie. So I don't know.
- 1:02:34Yeah, I always wonder though if they're actually trying to kill
- 1:02:37her or not, I was gonna say the goal of all these movies is to
- 1:02:40kill Sidney, Prescott for some reason.
- 1:02:41And everybody just does it all to order.
- 1:02:44For some reason, I feel like they always say he had the
- 1:02:47audacity to be born that bitch, like they like the goal is
- 1:02:52always to do it like in a staged manner though.
- 1:02:55Like I feel like sometimes they're trying to Spook her into
- 1:02:57a certain direction. I don't know.
- 1:03:00Also wouldn't be So, if they ever came out with a Sidney,
- 1:03:04Prescott movie, in which she does get murdered, could it not
- 1:03:07just be like one scene of her like, oh, what's that noise?
- 1:03:10And then, like somebody walks in and just stabs her.
- 1:03:12So, they are being an actual murder or not going through.
- 1:03:16These elaborate steps to get her feeling anxiety and all the
- 1:03:20killers after me and all this like, literally you show up.
- 1:03:22Hey what's up bang? You did.
- 1:03:24I mean in credit that would be the best way to do it but you
- 1:03:27know, what's the fun in that? I also at this point I just Once
- 1:03:32submitted to I wants to need to live peacefully for the rest of
- 1:03:35your life. Yeah, she's done.
- 1:03:36Unless they like bring her in at some point later on in the
- 1:03:39series she's done. She's been this killer the
- 1:03:42entire time The Mastermind behind all the killers are.
- 1:03:47So he's got bodyguards now and she's trying to get some
- 1:03:50distance from Derek and she says it's for his own safety, but you
- 1:03:55can see there's also some concern for herself that, you
- 1:03:58know, this is all happening again.
- 1:04:00What if Can't trust the point. Once again she's gotta kill her
- 1:04:04boyfriend. Dewey is still being cold to
- 1:04:08Gail. The other reporters are still
- 1:04:10asking her ton of questions. Debbie's like, wouldn't it be
- 1:04:15safe to assume that the Killer's from Woodsboro?
- 1:04:17She's like, all I'm saying is that would make sense that's
- 1:04:20all. This is where we get the scene
- 1:04:23and the dining hall. The I think I love you.
- 1:04:28This is like the most like there's no way everybody else
- 1:04:31would be clapping along. I know this is like very much
- 1:04:34like in everybody claps. Yeah.
- 1:04:37You know, you said that while we were watching I that's exactly
- 1:04:39what my note says to like and everybody clapped.
- 1:04:42My favorite part about this though isn't Derek standing on
- 1:04:46the tables singing along its Timothy, Olyphant just kind of
- 1:04:50like doing his little dance moves like as a gay.
- 1:04:52Side to him. He's like clapping and cheering
- 1:04:55him, but he's also kind of like shimmying along with him.
- 1:04:57Oh my God, as a psychopath? Yes.
- 1:05:00So, okay, let's break this down a little further if they are
- 1:05:03because wasn't he? No, he wasn't the original
- 1:05:05killer. Then in the original script,
- 1:05:06right? Timothy.
- 1:05:07All of you want. So then how does him having that
- 1:05:12video camera and stuff? Play out, if they still do that?
- 1:05:16Unless they added that in later and just sprinkle it through the
- 1:05:18movie. But see, the thing is Kevin
- 1:05:20Williamson is in our heads now. And this is all part of his plan
- 1:05:24from the very beginning. He doesn't want he wants you to
- 1:05:26like you just don't know. It's very spontaneous.
- 1:05:29Yes. Yeah.
- 1:05:30And so this is where he gives Sydney the letters anise.
- 1:05:34This whole ego. Is that a big No-No?
- 1:05:37Yeah the brothers are gonna kick his ass but it's tradition.
- 1:05:40Yeah laughs at that we see a preview for stabbed yes and it
- 1:05:47turns out Tori Spelling did get cast as Sydney.
- 1:05:50I love that. I love that she has enough of a
- 1:05:53sense of humor about that line on the first one to show up in
- 1:05:56the city. Like okay.
- 1:05:58Yeah, I'll be Sydney's Last Choice about.
- 1:06:01Luke Wilson is the perfect casting for Billy honestly.
- 1:06:05Yeah, it's yeah, it's great. He still looks like way too old
- 1:06:08though, right? Well yeah I think that's the
- 1:06:11point. Yeah, exactly is funny this is
- 1:06:14for Randy goes over the sequel rules with Dewey which way like
- 1:06:19it's kind of like the same as well.
- 1:06:21I mean it's just Like there's not really anything different.
- 1:06:24Like, it's kind of what they were saying in six, like, it's
- 1:06:26just a bigger body count more, elaborate scenes.
- 1:06:29Yeah. And everything's doubled.
- 1:06:30Yeah, yes, that was what they were going for originally if
- 1:06:34they were going to have for Ghostface.
- 1:06:36Yeah. So there are talking about
- 1:06:39different suspects and for a second that kind of cast
- 1:06:42suspicion on one another but then they're like myth, which I
- 1:06:47always love when that happens, when, these inevitably like,
- 1:06:50they'll be like you could be the Killer But that also means you
- 1:06:53could be the killer. So let's just say, neither of
- 1:06:55us, I think it would make sense like, for Dewey to be the killer
- 1:06:59because like the exaggerated limp, like, he's just like
- 1:07:02putting on a show but then like in reality is able to just
- 1:07:05Sprint. Yeah.
- 1:07:06Well and this is also where he's like, so why do you have that
- 1:07:08limp, man? And he's like, stabbed in the I
- 1:07:11have a severed nerve. Okay.
- 1:07:14So Joel believes in self-preservation.
- 1:07:19He doesn't want to be here. He's like, I just got around to
- 1:07:21reading your Book and your last cameraman was gutted and Gail's
- 1:07:25like I made that up for the book and start with Sydney and
- 1:07:34theater. Professor talk.
- 1:07:37They have a whole discussion, he kind of pep talks or says that
- 1:07:39she was made for the role of Cassandra and he encourages her
- 1:07:44to do dress rehearsal. I'm sure not the least of which
- 1:07:47is because opening night is in two days and this is like when
- 1:07:52Are doing the rehearsal and like all of those people are
- 1:07:55swarming. Her like pretending the stepper
- 1:07:57and she's seeing the ghost face mixed in.
- 1:08:00Do you think that's her? Having visions.
- 1:08:01You think somebody actually snuck one in there?
- 1:08:03Oh, I think somebody, actually, she actually did.
- 1:08:05Yeah. Is he actually in the scene?
- 1:08:08I'm not sure. They have like random shots of
- 1:08:11people. She knows, are in the cast with
- 1:08:13her. So I think it's pretty easy for
- 1:08:16it to go either way. Yeah, so not to take away
- 1:08:20anything. I just found a website that
- 1:08:22shows. Shows me the body counts of each
- 1:08:24movie and who allegedly is in the Ghostface killing them,
- 1:08:29okay? So if they're saying that the
- 1:08:32body count is doubled from the first to the second, they are
- 1:08:36wrong. So, the first movie, there is
- 1:08:38eight people who died in the second movie, there are 10 if
- 1:08:42you're including Mickey in Nancy, right?
- 1:08:46Okay. So then I guess, yeah, in the
- 1:08:47first movie, you're also including Billy Billy.
- 1:08:50So then there would be six actual go.
- 1:08:52Face victims in this movie, there would be 8.
- 1:08:56So going back to what I said. The first two people are it's
- 1:09:00saying confirm killed by Mickey cc is there's no confirmation
- 1:09:05because there's really nothing showing that it could be either
- 1:09:09of them right I'm gonna say that he was Mickey I'm gonna yeah I
- 1:09:13think as make you to because Debbie was out front talking to
- 1:09:16Gale when Sydney goes into answer the phone and Mickey can
- 1:09:19blend in as like a person just attending the party.
- 1:09:21Yeah. Also he picks her up and throws
- 1:09:25her off the balcony. Yeah I'm not seeing Nancy Lumas
- 1:09:28doing that, I'll be it, you never know.
- 1:09:30Sarah, Michelle, Gellar's teeny tiny.
- 1:09:32That's an officer Andrews, and officer
- 1:09:51Richards that. Mickey obviously, we can tell
- 1:09:53because his face is fucked up from the car accident and then
- 1:09:58who dies after that Haley, Hallie they Hollywood, I say hey
- 1:10:03my eyes need to be checked, he Hayley, Hayley Hayley, Hayley
- 1:10:07Hayley doesn't matter that girl, and then Derek is killed by
- 1:10:11Mickey because we obviously see that.
- 1:10:12Yeah, okay. Well, okay.
- 1:10:14So we weren't too far off them. Yeah, I think we had a pretty
- 1:10:17right? Other than the first one.
- 1:10:19I want me, I guess the first move like the consensus was
- 1:10:21Mickey. Well and also a chance against
- 1:10:24me Mickey Mickey. Well she thinks she kills him
- 1:10:29when he comes back and then they have to head shot.
- 1:10:31But yeah she intended to kill him.
- 1:10:34Okay. Yeah, okay.
- 1:10:36Okay, after this like really bad dress rehearsal.
- 1:10:40Sony officially breaks up with Derek gills Dewey, Randy and
- 1:10:45Joel are discussing everything, trying to figure out a way to
- 1:10:50pull out the killer ran. He gets a call and he answers it
- 1:10:57because he gets the, you know, what's your favorite scary
- 1:11:01movie? And he says Showgirls yeah, it's
- 1:11:04pretty scary. No, it's verse Ace every time.
- 1:11:17So I can be like, so Randy's wandering around the quad while
- 1:11:26Gail and Dewey are trying to check everybody.
- 1:11:29Who's got a cell phone up to their ear and everybody, the
- 1:11:32whole makes a Dunkin Donuts, run.
- 1:11:34Anybody who has the audacity to be making a phone call right now
- 1:11:38slap, get off that phone. Give me that phone.
- 1:11:42And yeah, then Randy gets pulled into the van and it's murdered.
- 1:11:46Yeah. People Boombox next door.
- 1:11:49So the original cut that they submitted to the MPAA.
- 1:11:53Had like they showed him getting his throat cut.
- 1:11:56No really? Yeah, you actually see us death
- 1:11:58but in the Final Cut obviously all we see is the van a Rockin
- 1:12:03and then woman nobody goes in and nobody goes a knocking and
- 1:12:06then blood pools out underneath. You know, the MPAA must either
- 1:12:10be different people or have relaxed the rules because in the
- 1:12:13last two screen movies, we see some gruesome unedited straight
- 1:12:20on stabbing. Yeah.
- 1:12:22Yeah. They're less prudish.
- 1:12:24Yeah. Comparitively the standards have
- 1:12:26changed. Got imagine back then in the 90s
- 1:12:28it was like some pretty old school, people reviewing that
- 1:12:31shit. Those people are probably dead.
- 1:12:32Now. Listen, every time one of the
- 1:12:34two of you says, back in the 90s, my brain just goes back
- 1:12:38Jack. Yeah, so the library is Annie
- 1:12:45gets an eye on them and bothers some poor guy next to her.
- 1:12:48Whose just trying to study, he's so annoying.
- 1:12:53This is sneaky I like the scene because they like the guy she's
- 1:12:57confused about how she's getting the messages and then the guys
- 1:12:59like well you know, we're all connected to the connect the
- 1:13:02system here. So it's somebody in this room
- 1:13:03that's sending you a message. It's very creepy and how whoever
- 1:13:06did that managed to get out of this?
- 1:13:08Oh, notices impressive. Yeah, so her bodyguards go
- 1:13:13around investigating everybody who's on the computer and cotton
- 1:13:16sneaks up and really makes himself look suspicious with the
- 1:13:21way. He talks to sit.
- 1:13:23Yeah, I could see him being one of the original killers in this
- 1:13:26scenario. Like he's straight-up pincer
- 1:13:27down. Trying to get the Diane Sawyer
- 1:13:29interview. Yeah, it's a it's uncomfortable
- 1:13:33to watch the way, he's got hurt, like, pinned up against the wall
- 1:13:36and his like, very manic energy right now is frightening.
- 1:13:42The police end up taking him in because bodyguards see him like,
- 1:13:46you know, a front accosting her for the longest time.
- 1:13:50I always kind of got him. Him and Derek mixed up because
- 1:13:54they kind of look similar, right?
- 1:13:56Like a little bit, I don't know. But I don't get them mixed up as
- 1:14:00characters. But the actors names.
- 1:14:02I always mix Todd and Derek know the actors like I mix up.
- 1:14:09Who is who all the time? Oh yeah.
- 1:14:11Definitely because this only yeah only because of this maybe
- 1:14:14which is so dumb because I love Jerry O'Connell and brawny
- 1:14:17through. Yeah, pick up my penis.
- 1:14:21And it's floating. The police can't end up holding
- 1:14:27cotton because they don't have enough to, to keep him there.
- 1:14:31They, but they are going to send sit in Halle to a safe house,
- 1:14:35until they can figure out who's been doing the kills.
- 1:14:39Joel. Quits is a cameraman and Gail
- 1:14:41tells Dewey that she feels bad about everything.
- 1:14:46They want to review some of the footage that has been collected
- 1:14:50so far by Joel. So they go to the scabbing.
- 1:14:55It's like a lecture hall basic. Yeah.
- 1:14:58And they're going to like play the footage there.
- 1:14:59Yeah. He's ER, see if they can see
- 1:15:01somebody that's like consistently in the crowds for
- 1:15:04everything that they film and nothing makes people hornier
- 1:15:08than solving murders. So this is true.
- 1:15:13Hmm. So they start getting into it.
- 1:15:15But then there Interrupted by that old cock block and
- 1:15:18Ghostface. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:15:22And this is where there's like secret footage that's been
- 1:15:25filmed and they're like, oh man, this is creepy stuff.
- 1:15:29That's stuff is creepy. Honestly, like, if you're like
- 1:15:31watching this footage of somebody spying on you.
- 1:15:33Yeah, yeah, it's and I can't believe I never put together.
- 1:15:36That Timothy Olyphant has the camera camcorder the whole time.
- 1:15:40Yeah, always. Yep.
- 1:15:41So here's one thing. That irked me in this scene.
- 1:15:44How is this? Sky playing a feed from what
- 1:15:49they originally watched, okay? Like let's say he planted those
- 1:15:51VHS tapes and he recorded over top of to put whatever on there
- 1:15:55as they're watching it. It turns into a live feed from
- 1:15:57up in the top of the room. How's he doing that in that
- 1:16:01moment? When they look like that TV was
- 1:16:03just sitting here, I was trying to figure that out too when I
- 1:16:06was watching it the other night and I I mean back then it
- 1:16:08doesn't make sense if it were today you know Bluetooth no
- 1:16:11problem. Just cast that shit.
- 1:16:12Yeah, that's not happening in this movie.
- 1:16:15That's just movie Magic. Not unless unless we can think
- 1:16:17that that is the video, Whatever lecture hall area or like he
- 1:16:23named over it, tv10 that TV is tied into the giant system,
- 1:16:28that's upstairs, right? And so he can just put whatever
- 1:16:31he wants on at any given time and has full control over it
- 1:16:34without actually showing anything on the TV that he's
- 1:16:37changing inputs or something. Because it would have to go from
- 1:16:40the VHS input to whatever the live input would be.
- 1:16:43It would have to be something like that.
- 1:16:45This is I use my three favorite word's suspension of disbelief,
- 1:16:50this movie asked that a lot, next one being realistic.
- 1:16:57Here's the thing. I love the screw babies.
- 1:16:59I think they're fun. I think they're really well
- 1:17:01written. I don't think they're all 100%
- 1:17:04grounded in reality you know. Sometimes you just gotta have
- 1:17:07fun with it. Yeah.
- 1:17:08Especially in the screen movies, you know, and I can't help but
- 1:17:11think of the opening of Saw for where Carrie Why the detective
- 1:17:16is like watching the films at home?
- 1:17:18No, it's the opening of the three.
- 1:17:21You see the three all blend together?
- 1:17:22Yeah. Well, three and four are the
- 1:17:24same timeline so that gets extra confusing.
- 1:17:26Yeah. Sit when she gets her ribs, like
- 1:17:28rip, yeah, that's that's a No-No because the fourth one is the
- 1:17:33detective that's obsessed. With solving the cases you're
- 1:17:35talking about the scene where she's watching the footage and
- 1:17:37then all of a sudden you're like, yeah it streams her from
- 1:17:40the closet. Yeah.
- 1:17:41Yeah. That's even creepier.
- 1:17:42Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:17:43Right. Because she's with the What's
- 1:17:46his face, Wahlburgers? In the second movie.
- 1:17:48She's a singer Johnny, Robert know, they've got a series of
- 1:17:56restaurants called Wahlburgers. Oh, really?
- 1:17:58Yeah, dude. And then there's a show called
- 1:18:00The Wahlburgers where they're like working in them or
- 1:18:02something. Then boys are geniuses that we
- 1:18:05passed a Wahlburgers. When we went to go see the
- 1:18:07Braves in Atlanta and I was like, look, it's a Wahlburgers
- 1:18:09and you're like I wonder if it's run by Mark Wahlberg and I said
- 1:18:12yeah I laughed and you thought I was joking.
- 1:18:15Fuck. Yeah, see how do you all right?
- 1:18:19So this is probably one of the better set pieces of the movie
- 1:18:22where it leads to a whole Chase into like the recording booth.
- 1:18:27I like this whole thing because like, it's just like a nice game
- 1:18:31of cat-and-mouse, I think. Also, you have that moment with
- 1:18:35Gail seeing Dewey on the other side and she can't talk to him
- 1:18:40and like, go spaces, right behind him and then he gets
- 1:18:43stabbed, you know, do we get stabbed every But it's nice.
- 1:18:47I appreciate this. You know what?
- 1:18:49Yeah well they did say he survived because it like cut
- 1:18:52into Scar Tissue. Yes again it's one of the
- 1:18:55scream. Franchises favorite excuses for
- 1:18:57how people survive the I Scar Tissue.
- 1:19:00We're not going to get into something else, which what at
- 1:19:04the end of this movie, somebody gets shot in the stomach.
- 1:19:05And again, fine also somebody else gets stabbed in the stomach
- 1:19:09and is not fine. It happened where I'm going with
- 1:19:11that, but I'm not going to continue to talk about it.
- 1:19:14It's kind of like a normal thing in Scream.
- 1:19:15Movies at this point. Like you get stabbed in the
- 1:19:17stomach here. Okay, you'll be all right.
- 1:19:19Okay, just check it out. Listen, if a Reservoir Dogs has
- 1:19:22taught us anything, it's that you can survive a gut wound for
- 1:19:25many, many hours, albeit painfully.
- 1:19:28Yes, they're actually in pain in that movie and these movies like
- 1:19:31oh no, it's okay. They just got my stomach.
- 1:19:33It's okay. Just my tumtum.
- 1:19:34Yeah let's go guys. Let's go get some dirt and
- 1:19:37Rubble. Yeah and Holly are leaving.
- 1:19:42Derek gets kidnapped and take it.
- 1:19:46Destroy the theater set. They are all gonna get in so
- 1:19:49much fucking trouble. If it were, if it didn't get
- 1:19:51turned into a crime scene, I think the in game is for him,
- 1:19:54they like, come down during the play, right?
- 1:19:57And just be in his underwear, tied up would have been nice.
- 1:20:01Wait, why? What you want to see a guy tied
- 1:20:04up in his underwear? I mean, don't judge.
- 1:20:09So as the bodyguards are driving Sydney and Hallie away their
- 1:20:13soft, at a stoplight, how he asked?
- 1:20:15If they can say, Say where they're going and there's a
- 1:20:17hundred percent. I Kevin Williamson New 100%,
- 1:20:20what are you doing here? So Sydney had thought one of the
- 1:20:22bodyguards was gay and when they ask where they're going the one
- 1:20:26that she thought was gay says, Don't Ask, Don't Tell.
- 1:20:29Yeah, yeah. That was a nice.
- 1:20:30That was a very. Yeah, very pointed joke, right
- 1:20:35there. This is another tense scene to
- 1:20:37wear. Yeah, accidentally wreck the car
- 1:20:39and she has to climb over Ghostface to get out because
- 1:20:42it's the cop car, they can't get out of the back door.
- 1:20:45Mmm. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:20:47So go space comes in. He attacks the cops takes over.
- 1:20:50The car is driving it wrecks. And they're trying to climb out
- 1:20:54the front seat that cop has incredibly great grip strength
- 1:20:58to continue to hold on to that good for what's it like a minute
- 1:21:03of like back and forth and then gets his head.
- 1:21:07That's probably the gruesome as part of this movie because they
- 1:21:10kind of show that and then like the aftermath of that poll
- 1:21:14judges, who's right? That dudes head and then he
- 1:21:17still like everything and like and then yeah, that is pretty
- 1:21:21violent. Honestly, for this.
- 1:21:22And if you're looking at everything else on the whole of
- 1:21:25the movie you're like this doesn't fit because everything
- 1:21:28else isn't as violent. So maybe that's the one thing
- 1:21:30they like well we can let us pull go through a dude's head
- 1:21:34but we just can't have you actually stabbing people.
- 1:21:37I mean is it was an is it just an act of God at that point,
- 1:21:40right? It's just happened, like you put
- 1:21:42this guy's stabbing people. We can't have that, okay?
- 1:21:45So they have Halle and Sydney have managed to successfully
- 1:21:51climb out of the car without Ghostface attacking and they're
- 1:21:55running away. And then Sydney goes, I need to
- 1:21:56know who it is and how he's like, nope.
- 1:21:58Now is not the time. Now, here is not the place we
- 1:22:01need to go always results in a death and the screen movie ever.
- 1:22:05You never go back you. If you leave to go space behind,
- 1:22:07it's too late. You either?
- 1:22:09Double tap in the moment or you leave and deal with it.
- 1:22:12You can see if she did not, did not hesitate in.
- 1:22:15Looked at it first, I feel like things would have been fine but
- 1:22:19because she hesitated then try to go back now your friends did
- 1:22:22yep. Yep.
- 1:22:23Because that that stopping long enough to go back and try and
- 1:22:27figure out who goes faces. Lets him get out, sneak around
- 1:22:32behind some gumballs and attack Hallie.
- 1:22:39So Gail is trying to sneak out of the building and she runs
- 1:22:48into cotton, who is very bloody? And he says, it's because he
- 1:22:51found Dewey's body and obviously kills, like, fuck you, you
- 1:22:55clearly are the killer. So she runs outside and she
- 1:22:59steals Debbie's phone and calls it in to the police.
- 1:23:02Sydney runs into the theater because I guess they didn't
- 1:23:05manage to drive that far before the accident.
- 1:23:10The sets drop and this is where Derek drops down, tied up in his
- 1:23:14underwear. As many people are apparently
- 1:23:16willing to pay to fuck. She is trying to untie him but
- 1:23:24then goes face pops up. Its Mickey.
- 1:23:27It's a Mickey it's a Mickey and make he's like you know, Derek
- 1:23:32And really good. He was my partner, he got you,
- 1:23:35all the places you needed to be and Derek's, like, do that
- 1:23:37wasn't me and he goes. Yeah, it was.
- 1:23:38But then you just disappeared and so just like whatever he did
- 1:23:42a great job showing here on this honestly, like just like plant
- 1:23:46that seed of Suspicion, well, she had that seat of Suspicion
- 1:23:48already because of, you know. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:23:51Yeah. So, all he had to do was just be
- 1:23:53like, yeah, no. There goes my partner and she's
- 1:23:55like, no, I believe that because, you know, that's
- 1:23:57happened before. Yeah.
- 1:23:59Because I mean, like, in the first movie, it was a fucking
- 1:24:01game between billions. You and then you know like this
- 1:24:04kind of seems like a dialogue that they would be doing just to
- 1:24:06fuck with Sydney. Yeah and that moment of
- 1:24:08hesitation where she thinks that it could be true is log enough
- 1:24:12for Mickey to shoot Derek and be like haha just kidding.
- 1:24:15We talked about that bullet penetrating that man's chest in
- 1:24:19like showing it because that caught me off guard.
- 1:24:22The first time I watched it and the subsequent viewings
- 1:24:26afterwards. Still got me.
- 1:24:27Jesus dude, that looks like it fucking hurt.
- 1:24:30Yeah, it's that's good effects. I work too because it's not like
- 1:24:34I mean he's bare-chested it's not like you can just like stick
- 1:24:37a little blood pack under his shirt and amen.
- 1:24:40Greg nicotero, yay. I think the ropes help but
- 1:24:44still, you're right. Like, the effect is is jarring
- 1:24:47for this movie. Again, it's funny, right?
- 1:24:49Like we talked about through the whole movie.
- 1:24:51It's not as bloody and violent as it could be and then in five
- 1:24:54minutes, you have to do get in his head.
- 1:24:57I don't know what piped if you will.
- 1:25:00And then you have this where the guys Gunshot Square in the chest
- 1:25:04and it's not like a cut to Mickey's face or Sydney's where
- 1:25:08it's happening. It just shows it and then him
- 1:25:10like, you know, yeah. And then you get the headshot on
- 1:25:15Mickey to it. Yeah, that the end to headshot.
- 1:25:18No, he get shot in the head. He just got lit up.
- 1:25:21The mom gets shot in the head by, that's it.
- 1:25:23Yeah, my notes. I had a slip.
- 1:25:29I wrote Billy wants to get caught.
- 1:25:31Mickey wants to get caught. But because he wants to he wants
- 1:25:35to spend the media. Yeah.
- 1:25:36Like violence and media's. What made me a killer he wants
- 1:25:40it to turn into this whole thing.
- 1:25:41He wants to become famous for that one of EDS photos.
- 1:25:44Well, here's one of the weakest attacks, she hits him with her
- 1:25:48necklace. That wouldn't have been enough
- 1:25:49to that wouldn't have done shit pockets and like same thing,
- 1:25:53like she shy, I think it was more of like, he maybe got hit,
- 1:25:59like, kind of in the eye with it, like, that would hurt.
- 1:26:02Let's be real. Yeah.
- 1:26:02What if she slashed him across the face and hit?
- 1:26:05Like I area? Yeah, I mean cool.
- 1:26:07The accuracy required for that imprisonment.
- 1:26:11I mean, you know what she could, she might have been training in
- 1:26:13Prescott actually like going in the dojo, but I can see it so
- 1:26:23Gail appears and she is being held at gunpoint by Billy's
- 1:26:30mother. I love how he says it.
- 1:26:32That like, oh, okay. Thanks for spelling it out for
- 1:26:35its Nicky would had no idea. Otherwise gills like, no, that's
- 1:26:39impossible. I've seen pictures of her and
- 1:26:43Sydney is all right, all right, Nancy's.
- 1:26:45Like it's called a makeover. And Cindy goes, yeah, I lose
- 1:26:48about 60, 70 pounds, have some work done, which is funny
- 1:26:53because because, yeah, I mean, it's a good point, like we never
- 1:26:56see her in the first movie, but it, I am glad that they did at
- 1:26:59least try to address it even if it's in a nice chesty kind of
- 1:27:02It's like well clearly people would know what Billy's mother
- 1:27:06especially yeah. Well no would Gail nogal.
- 1:27:10Wasn't anything but a report. Yeah, but she wrote the book and
- 1:27:13she wrote the book she did all that research.
- 1:27:14She wasn't talking about the whole murder.
- 1:27:16There's no way she wouldn't have seen pictures of Nancy Loomis.
- 1:27:19Yeah. Right touche.
- 1:27:21So Debbie shoots Mickey and Gail and then she does a lot of
- 1:27:26yelling at Sydney. She says that her motivation is
- 1:27:28just good. Old-fashioned Revenge billing,
- 1:27:31will sit good boy Roy and Cindy Jason shit.
- 1:27:35Yeah, it's and he's like, you abandoned him like, which makes
- 1:27:40me mad every time I see this, I'm like you left him because
- 1:27:43your husband suck. That's kind of a dick move
- 1:27:46Nancy. Congratulations, you've played
- 1:27:49yourself. Yeah, Sydney ends up hitting her
- 1:27:53with a leftover bottle from where they trash, the set.
- 1:27:57Hazing Derek. They end up destroying a lot of
- 1:28:01these set pieces which Early are real bricks.
- 1:28:05My favorite part of this is, she's like climbing up that
- 1:28:09wall. And then like the foam bricks
- 1:28:10away on Topper, like fall, but the sound effects are, all
- 1:28:13actual white bricks hitting. It's like and like they showed
- 1:28:18us that they're fake earlier and yet now we're yeah.
- 1:28:21Leave that this would all right. Sure.
- 1:28:24Yeah. Like it, knocks her out.
- 1:28:25She's like, oh my God. I'm dead.
- 1:28:26And then. Yeah.
- 1:28:32He falls down gets back up again.
- 1:28:35Never gonna keep her down after gotta keep her down.
- 1:28:40Cotton comes in with a gun and Debbie is like holding Sydney is
- 1:28:44a hostage and there's kind of like this standoff moment and
- 1:28:48then Sydney is like a kiss Cotton's like met unless you
- 1:28:54want to reconsider that Diane Sawyer interview and said he
- 1:28:57goes consider it done. And so then he shoots Nancy.
- 1:29:01Boom! Arch!
- 1:29:03Yeah! Debbie, Debbie salt Nancy
- 1:29:06Loomis. Right, and she got shot through
- 1:29:07the fucking neck. Don't think that neck was
- 1:29:10exposed whatsoever while she was going back and forth behind
- 1:29:14Sydney like to me, I get why they did it because you're
- 1:29:16getting the final thing at the end with her.
- 1:29:18Like I don't fucking know, I'm not taking another chains and
- 1:29:19black but I don't think he would have shot her in the neck, you
- 1:29:23know? I mean like based on how she was
- 1:29:26positioned there, I like to imagine that he was trying to
- 1:29:28shoot City to me, like he's a bad shot.
- 1:29:34So it turns out Gales alive. We have a quick Mickey
- 1:29:37jump-scare and Sydney shoots. Mm.
- 1:29:39And then double Taps. Nancy / Debbie, Joel comes back.
- 1:29:45I love you like. Oh okay now the killings are
- 1:29:47dead. I'm back, I'm back.
- 1:29:49I respect it. And you know what?
- 1:29:50I think Gail should respect it to you because she is one of the
- 1:29:53most self-serving creatures on the face of the planet.
- 1:29:55Yeah, she's got to respect the hustle for and then she would
- 1:29:59have liked better than this but Gail gets distracted from trying
- 1:30:03to film. Any story about this because do
- 1:30:05he's alive. The Press are asking sitting a
- 1:30:12bunch of questions asking how it feels to be here and she's like,
- 1:30:14you should talk to Cotton. Yeah.
- 1:30:17Even though cotton kind of like, you know, you had to agree to do
- 1:30:21an interview with him to get your life saved.
- 1:30:25You say? Fuck it.
- 1:30:26We're friends now. She doesn't want to be a media
- 1:30:28star anyway though. That's that's true, right?
- 1:30:31And clearly has his reason for being there.
- 1:30:34This whole time is I want validation obviously why
- 1:30:37wouldn't he was put in jail for the wrong?
- 1:30:39Thing, and obviously, I'm here to clear my name.
- 1:30:41I want help fucking help me. And there is that good seen
- 1:30:44earlier in the movie where he Corners are in the stairwell,
- 1:30:46and it's like, it's kind of tense and kind of like, wow, he
- 1:30:48could fucking just murder her right now but he doesn't.
- 1:30:52Yeah, absolutely. Right.
- 1:30:53So, because he wants that Fame. And then again, at the end with
- 1:30:55that standoff, you're like this going on way too long.
- 1:30:58Like is he trying to do something?
- 1:31:01Is there something else going to happen?
- 1:31:02And he's like, all right, I'll kill her.
- 1:31:03And then she's like, give me, give me the gun cotton and he's
- 1:31:05like, yeah. Here you go.
- 1:31:08Yeah, yeah. I guess is he's not that bad I
- 1:31:11guess he was probably just playing along whatever.
- 1:31:14Yeah. Okay.
- 1:31:15Okay. Wait.
- 1:31:16I'm sorry. Like I know that that's how this
- 1:31:19movie ends but I could have sworn.
- 1:31:21I read somewhere that it originally had a different
- 1:31:23ending where you see Ghostface up at like that that clock
- 1:31:27tower. Yeah.
- 1:31:28And it was going to be Sydney and then they scrapped, that
- 1:31:31idea it was going to be Sydney. She gets that would have been
- 1:31:35fucking, don't see, I don't know.
- 1:31:38I'm glad it was cuz I'm glad it was scrapped.
- 1:31:40I kind of always wanted and I kind of talked about this
- 1:31:43earlier. I've called kind of always
- 1:31:44wanted like her to be bad. I don't know why I like
- 1:31:49something happened to take one of the main characters and make
- 1:31:53them a ghostface. I think it would be most logical
- 1:31:55for it to be Gail. Say her career is drying up, she
- 1:31:58needs something to write about. She becomes the new ghost face,
- 1:32:01it makes the most sense, I'm not mad at that, but I just for some
- 1:32:05reason I want this to be all a fever dream and she's locked up
- 1:32:08at the end of And, you know, movie and it shows flashes, back
- 1:32:12through all the movies, and it's literally, her killing
- 1:32:15everybody, somehow, making it work, but then framing it, all
- 1:32:18these other people who are actually trying to help, or who
- 1:32:20were innocent and then you're like, what the fuck, and then
- 1:32:22fade to black. And I said, do you know how many
- 1:32:25people that would piss off? That's the whole point of why
- 1:32:27you do it. Yeah, and then Sidney Prescott,
- 1:32:30just kills herself with a knife. I don't know, it's a pooka.
- 1:32:33Okay, that would piss them off even more.
- 1:32:35Let's do it. Okay, well, alright, that's it.
- 1:32:39For the movie. So Steve are you keeping your
- 1:32:41score the same or you changing it?
- 1:32:44I'm keeping it the same. There's nothing about this
- 1:32:46movie. I did like wants me to change
- 1:32:48it. Like, I like this movie.
- 1:32:49Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying this is trash and
- 1:32:52don't watch it, but comparing it to the other screen movies or
- 1:32:55just other stuff that had come as come out around that period
- 1:32:59in time. Like, I don't know.
- 1:33:00It just it doesn't feel as good and as rewatchable to me or as
- 1:33:05unpredictable, as I thought it was until going back and Hello
- 1:33:09was staring me in the face. Yeah, I think I'll probably keep
- 1:33:14mine at 1/8 also, but I stand by that.
- 1:33:17I think that this is a good sequel.
- 1:33:18Still. I don't know.
- 1:33:20Like it's like more of the same but I'm not mad about it because
- 1:33:24I loved the first one. So, you know, it's not that big
- 1:33:27of a deal to me. I'm keeping my Square the same
- 1:33:30as well. Okay.
- 1:33:31I still have a lot of fun with it.
- 1:33:34It is quintessential scream for me.
- 1:33:36I'm really excited for when we get to scream six, we really
- 1:33:40purposefully tried to avoid spoilers since it's still in
- 1:33:43theaters. By the way, if you do want to
- 1:33:46hear a nice talk about it with Steve like we did a whole
- 1:33:49episode on the decision real. So we did.
- 1:33:52It was a great time. Yeah.
- 1:33:54It wasn't. As long as our original scream
- 1:33:56chat for the years that 2022. Yeah.
- 1:34:00Food the five cream. Yeah.
- 1:34:02Scream five. But it's not but it is but it is
- 1:34:04we yeah, we talked for that for a long time.
- 1:34:06I'm I feel like that was like, almost a three-hour chat know.
- 1:34:09This one. We did not get that deep and
- 1:34:11into it, but we definitely went and talked and had a great
- 1:34:14conversation. Spoilers obviously for that one
- 1:34:16because we wouldn't like, oh yeah, real hard into it real
- 1:34:18quick. Okay.
- 1:34:20So Talia was just mostly sleepy during this one, and, but that's
- 1:34:24because we'd watch Pool Party Massacre beforehand and she was,
- 1:34:28she's a party doubt after. Yeah, she she partied.
- 1:34:31Real heart gonna have a pool party.
- 1:34:33Yeah. Gonna invite all our friends.
- 1:34:36I don't think so. Watch this Edition is that it
- 1:34:38was on my lap on and off I would say she was there for about half
- 1:34:41the movie. She can't getting she was
- 1:34:43getting frustrated because my my binder wasn't my lap so she was
- 1:34:48like having to do that thing when she like halfway is on my
- 1:34:51leg and she was she just wasn't feeling it.
- 1:34:52She would have to be on my lap, respect it, I think Talia is
- 1:34:56going to give this, I think she's gonna give it a seven.
- 1:34:59She hasn't, it feels like a 7. She was able to sleep through
- 1:35:02it. She didn't sleep bark.
- 1:35:04Shin asked to go out like she was just Relaxed, she's content.
- 1:35:08There was no dogs barking and then being cut off mid bark, so
- 1:35:12that was a good time for her. Steve, what is your tagline for
- 1:35:17this movie? We're rewriting, tagline
- 1:35:20rewriting, taglines, rewriting taglines.
- 1:35:23What tagline would you give the screen to scream again?
- 1:35:28I'm pretty sure that's literally one of the ones we made fun of
- 1:35:31at the very beginning of this episode it is.
- 1:35:33Yeah. Scream again.
- 1:35:35Look at that. I should be paid.
- 1:35:36Much as they were you talk such big a logo could come up with a
- 1:35:40better childhood than that. I mean it makes sense.
- 1:35:43So we're screaming again, right? All right, let me think again.
- 1:35:47Let me thank I can come up with a better one.
- 1:35:50Got a bad case of the twos. No, got a bad case of the to
- 1:35:57scream scream to prepare to get stabbed again.
- 1:36:04So we got to have it get in there.
- 1:36:07I mean, you have to write a second movie.
- 1:36:09I feel like we don't because I feel like our whole tag line,
- 1:36:12segment started because of Halloween to just using the same
- 1:36:15tag line and throwing again on it.
- 1:36:18I got it, Scream 2, the sequel to screen.
- 1:36:24Yes. Okay, okay.
- 1:36:25Okay. That's it.
- 1:36:26That's it. That's screen to the sequel to
- 1:36:29Elliot, okay. But the tooth, the sequel to
- 1:36:31part has to be a tool to scream to know Roman numerals.
- 1:36:35No, Roman numerals to Knives. Two knives.
- 1:36:39All right, I'm designing this show.
- 1:36:40I'm going to make it to nice. Okay, umm yeah, I'm excited to
- 1:36:43see what you come up with. Yes yes.
- 1:36:45See told you I'd come up with one 30 seconds.
- 1:36:51Okay. We don't do dreams sequels for
- 1:36:53our franchise of movies. Yeah.
- 1:36:55But who did everybody relate to? I mean, obviously I really did
- 1:37:00to Derek because I have been through that whole thing.
- 1:37:04My man bad memories apparently Yes, who would I relate to buy?
- 1:37:10Probably, Randy. I mean him being the not, I
- 1:37:14mean, obviously, he's the cocky movie guy, who knows everything,
- 1:37:18but, sometimes gets it wrong. I feel like that's me.
- 1:37:21I know so much about random facts of movies or like stupid
- 1:37:26things and sometimes I'll say something and then I'll like, is
- 1:37:29that wrong. Fuck it.
- 1:37:30Now, sending it. It's right.
- 1:37:32So I feel like I relate to confidence.
- 1:37:34Exactly. Just got a, how you say it was
- 1:37:36It is everybody like yeah, that sounds right?
- 1:37:38Yeah, I'm I relate to Dewey because you wimp.
- 1:37:43Yeah. And some people are really neat
- 1:37:45about it and I have to point out that like I don't have all my
- 1:37:49original parts in my knee, and I do have a severed nerve, and
- 1:37:53there's also like a screw and a couple bolts in there.
- 1:37:56I didn't want to be the one to say it, but you walk exactly
- 1:37:59like him in the Travis. I hold, you gotta hold your hand
- 1:38:01down here, right? I'm gonna hold your hand in a
- 1:38:03weird. Yeah.
- 1:38:04Oh my god, dude. Hold on a second.
- 1:38:06Is that worse was listen though. Okay.
- 1:38:10The worst I think was it wasn't even a full year after my knee
- 1:38:13surgery I had barely gotten off of crutches and somebody that I
- 1:38:17work with my aunt Jessie it do you think you're ever going to
- 1:38:20walk? Normally again who says that
- 1:38:23somebody an inconspicuous I was gonna say in Scream 3, the sorry
- 1:38:29Scream 3 in Scary Movie 2 of the my germs guide.
- 1:38:34Is that not do we holding his Hand like that and then making
- 1:38:37fun of it because literally that entire movie is making fun of
- 1:38:40Scream to, you know, you're right well it's kind of scream
- 1:38:43to and then kind of put your guys and stuff.
- 1:38:45Yeah, sure. And then a Nike basketball,
- 1:38:47commercial witch, and the changeling, right?
- 1:38:50Yeah, CMD. Your TV is leaking.
- 1:38:54Sorry, that's the third one. All right, I've got a review.
- 1:38:58Going to try and close these through close out real quick.
- 1:39:04This is a one star review. I'm not going to read the whole
- 1:39:06thing. Sits very lengthy.
- 1:39:08There's nothing worthwhile about this film and nothing to
- 1:39:10recommend the part. I hate the most seems to be what
- 1:39:12most people for some reason. Like the best.
- 1:39:15A class full of film, still film students discusses of sequels
- 1:39:18are better than Originals. That's it.
- 1:39:20You see this is a sequel and they talk about sequels.
- 1:39:24Wow. So what that's the irony and
- 1:39:27it's not worth a penny. I've never seen a more simple
- 1:39:30minded and superficial so-called horror film.
- 1:39:33As bad as this, the fact that he thinks it's so cool.
- 1:39:36Just makes it worse. The true horror of this film, is
- 1:39:39the horrifying ignorance to the audience?
- 1:39:41Did this person just get mad because scream to was meta?
- 1:39:43Well, then they said, watch urban legend and said, if you
- 1:39:45want to watch a campus, who's the killer flake?
- 1:39:47Wow. Okay, when that's when, was that
- 1:39:50when was this review written? Let me see.
- 1:39:54It's a hot take 2000. Wow, that's pretty close.
- 1:39:59Yeah, I was thinking, there's no way you write this today.
- 1:40:01So, This guy's just mad that a sequel comes out and then it's
- 1:40:06talking about sequels. Well duh has the audacity better
- 1:40:09thing wasn't super trendy at that point and I think just
- 1:40:13maybe it wasn't a thing he really wanted to deal with.
- 1:40:16I want to traffic in urban legends.
- 1:40:19It's kind of it's not fourth wall breaking meta, it's like
- 1:40:22okay. Well we've got these urban
- 1:40:23legends and somebody's acting it out.
- 1:40:25Whereas in Scream to it's like, hey, there's sequels.
- 1:40:28You're watching a sequel? I don't think he wants the
- 1:40:30audience immersion. Don't like that, like wink.
- 1:40:33Being at the audience type thing.
- 1:40:34Yeah. Right I don't agree with it but
- 1:40:37I get it. Yeah, okay.
- 1:40:40Well, I've got a bunch of listener reviews here submitted.
- 1:40:44So we're going to go over to Instagram first, we have Michael
- 1:40:48Lee, Howard. He says scream to is one of the
- 1:40:51best sequels and horror movie history.
- 1:40:53In my opinion, between the cast uemura suspense, murders scream
- 1:40:57to UPS the ante. I wish I could go back and see
- 1:41:00it again for the first time. I never saw that.
- 1:41:03Coming Randy explains the role as adding to the meta that is
- 1:41:06the scream Universe. Now you have ten.
- 1:41:08All right. Yes.
- 1:41:09Michael once again we are back on the same page.
- 1:41:13I'm sorry my no but hey keep your opinion, that's fine.
- 1:41:19But nah. All right we got somebody else
- 1:41:21that disagrees with Steve here, we have Robert its own.
- 1:41:24He says my fav one Grace sequel. They ceased being good
- 1:41:28immediately after this one. Oh, Robert.
- 1:41:30That's a hot take. And we'll get into that next
- 1:41:32month. I remember he said in the first
- 1:41:34scream that it did more damage to the genre than did good.
- 1:41:38That's true. Yeah Roberts got a lot of hot
- 1:41:40takes for this franchise. Really does.
- 1:41:42Yeah I was gonna say I get what he's saying though like that
- 1:41:44this kind of not interrupted but made a change to the way.
- 1:41:48Horror was probably going in that specific you know era it
- 1:41:52made the slasher a bigger thing and then it made it more like
- 1:41:56not scary but more like the urban legend the fuck.
- 1:41:59And I Know What You Did Last Summer where it's kind of like
- 1:42:01can't be stupid funny but Still could be scary, right?
- 1:42:05Yeah, yeah. Like it's not focusing on the
- 1:42:07hordes focusing more on, like pointing out the things in the
- 1:42:11genre. That stand out.
- 1:42:13Everybody thinks of it. All made them into like teen
- 1:42:17movies. Where it wasn't everybody needs
- 1:42:19to see this. It's like, no, this is pointed
- 1:42:21towards a teen high school demographic.
- 1:42:23That to me is what happened with all of these movies that came
- 1:42:26after screen? I mean unless yeah that's
- 1:42:29exactly that was the start of the Teen scream.
- 1:42:31I mean, it's like Kevin Williamson to the Core like hey
- 1:42:33yeah do it Dawson's Creek scream?
- 1:42:35I know he did last summer, The Faculty.
- 1:42:38I wanted somebody to Crowley in H2O.
- 1:42:40Yeah, I wanted somebody to tall like somebody in dollar
- 1:42:43equipped. Sorry no, no, wait wait, what?
- 1:42:46Huh? I said, I wanted somebody to
- 1:42:47drown somebody in Dawson's Creek.
- 1:42:50Okay, okay, sorry. Okay.
- 1:42:54Next up we have in Feldman. He says poor Andy Hurley.
- 1:42:58I did to him the most. Hey it's got a crying emoji and
- 1:43:02the Podcast killing time says easily top three sequel of all
- 1:43:08time and did a great job, helping build a strong
- 1:43:10franchise. I agree.
- 1:43:12Okay, I agree with that. Clearly we've discovered not
- 1:43:14everybody agrees but I don't agree with a broad top three
- 1:43:18sequels of all time, but I agree with the second Point.
- 1:43:22Okay? I found the final one is one
- 1:43:25that Steve can relate to. It's from aquellia.
- 1:43:27Boobs. He says, I just can't watch this
- 1:43:29and not think of fucking scary movie or they kill Brenda.
- 1:43:32The in the theater. 100%. That's that's my brain goes to
- 1:43:36that same thing to like and it's funny.
- 1:43:38I think I've seen scream sorry scary movie to see.
- 1:43:41I think it's scream Scary Movie, 2 more than I've seen scream to
- 1:43:45Just Kill Ya. I like laughs and stupidity and
- 1:43:47I'm glad we're talking about this because we watch screens
- 1:43:50are Scary, Movie 3. And I was like, I like that bit
- 1:43:53that they keep killing Brenda and she keeps coming back and
- 1:43:55you're like this is the only time they've ever killed Brenda
- 1:43:57and I was like I'm pretty sure she's died other times, you
- 1:44:00know, I didn't remember that but now that I'm being called on the
- 1:44:04spire. On the episode here.
- 1:44:06I'll have to admit that I was wrong.
- 1:44:09I had nowhere to go, hold on. You could say she didn't
- 1:44:11actually die in the opening of Scary Movie 2.
- 1:44:14You know. I mean they actually get stabbed
- 1:44:16a lot and then Falls over on the stage.
- 1:44:18Like will see. Those are the rest of the Movie
- 1:44:22Scary Movie 2. Yes yes.
- 1:44:23She's like she's at the haunted house Brenda's.
- 1:44:26Is she? Yeah.
- 1:44:28Because I remember like that whole scene where they're in the
- 1:44:29basement. Yeah.
- 1:44:30You're right. Yeah.
- 1:44:31Right. Yeah.
- 1:44:31She like. Abandoned.
- 1:44:33Cindy, I need to watch Scary Movie 2.
- 1:44:35Again. You do it.
- 1:44:36So fucking amazing movie. We watched it.
