- 0:13Hello you guys, Welcome back to another episode of the hawk Rill Energy Podcast.
- 0:18I'm your host, Kaylee, and this is your weekly reminder that it's
- 0:21a new day, a new week, a new mindset, and another day.
- 0:24If you'd become the hawk Rill Energy you want to attract. Hello you
- 0:28guys, Happy Tuesday. I am dealing with construction once again, so I
- 0:35apologize if you guys hear anything in the background. Our road is getting paved
- 0:40today, so there's a lot of like heavy machinery in the front of my
- 0:44house. And yeah, so anyways, I don't think you'll hear it.
- 0:48Last episode, I don't think we heard anything when it came to constructions.
- 0:51So yeah, it's just because I live in a new neighborhood, so I
- 0:55try my best to stay as far away as I can from the noise whenever
- 1:00i'm recording. But there's only so many areas of my host that I can
- 1:03record an episode. But anyways, I'm very excited about this episode. I
- 1:08have been really wanting to record an episode about this where it's talking about trends
- 1:14specifically. I feel like when I'm on TikTok, I always kind of get
- 1:19my fashion inspo, my wellness inspo, my makeup inspo, all that from
- 1:25social media in general, could be TikTok, could be Pinterest, could be
- 1:29Instagram. And so I really wanted to talk about things that I think are
- 1:32in for the summer of twenty twenty three and things that are out. There's
- 1:36a lot of things that I can think about from last summer that I feel
- 1:40like a lot of people aren't doing as much anymore. And don't get me
- 1:45wrong, like, these are not just things that are scientifically proven that it's
- 1:49out of style or whatever, like, these are just things that I can
- 1:52think of that I see on social media, or things that I personally find
- 1:56are things that I'm not gravitating towards anymore, or things that I'm doing that
- 1:59I actually like. So everything that I talk about, it's not like I'm
- 2:04telling you guys, this is exactly what you need to do, like you
- 2:07need to be on this trend, you need to stop doing this trend.
- 2:10These are just things that I've noticed through social media people saying that it's in
- 2:15or out for twenty twenty three. So I thought I would share because I
- 2:19thought that'd be an interesting episode to talk about, especially since summer has officially
- 2:23started. This week on June twenty. First, we've officially hit our summer
- 2:27time frame. I mean it already feels like it's been summer obviously because we're
- 2:30in June. But yeah, so I thought it'd be very convenient to do
- 2:35an episode about just what is trending this summer and what isn't. So first
- 2:38off, let's talk about fashion. I have always loved fashion. I don't
- 2:45share it too much on my socials, but I feel like I talk a
- 2:46lot about fashion with you guys here on the podcast. So things that I've
- 2:50been recently purchasing so far for summer of twenty twenty three is long Maxi skirts.
- 2:55I love how modest and elegant this style is. I feel like maxi
- 3:01skirts have made a huge comeback, and I feel like denimlong maxi skirts are
- 3:07really in satin. Maxi skirts are in even like Maxi dresses, like anything
- 3:13long like to the ankles that's either like fitting loose. All that I find
- 3:17is super super in right now. And I've actually purchased a few skirts for
- 3:22myself of this summer, and I just love the way it looks very elegant
- 3:25and not showing too much skin like obviously I have my mini skirts and all
- 3:30that, but I've been gravitating more towards my maxi skirts because I just find
- 3:35it looks very put together. Another thing I've been loving is rompers and dresses.
- 3:40And when I say rompers and dresses, I mean workout romper and dresses.
- 3:45So I really like Lululemon, I like CSB, A Ritzia. Those
- 3:50are probably my favorite workout activewear brands. But what I've been noticing is that
- 3:54a lot of them are creating cute little rompers or dresses to wear just like
- 4:00easy everyday outfits, whether you're running errands or you're in the house. I
- 4:03don't want to put on a pair of jeans if I'm sitting in my house
- 4:06all day doing work like That's just not my ideal comfort outfit for me.
- 4:10I'd rather wear a workout set or a romper or a squirt anything like that.
- 4:15So I've been really into workout at leisure chill at home outfits, and
- 4:19I've really been liking the dresses with like a built in squirt in it.
- 4:24And I think there's an aligne dress at a Lulemon that I've been looking at
- 4:27that has that it's like the built in scort, the full on dress,
- 4:30it's really really cute, super flattering. And then rompers. I love the
- 4:33Divinity romper from a Ritzy. I wear that one all the time. It's
- 4:36my go to. I have it in like three colors and it's very flattering
- 4:41as well. Now we get into skirts. If you guys follow me on
- 4:44Instagram, you guys know I've been in my sports era. I love just
- 4:47throwing on a scot with a qute tank top. That is the perfect everyday
- 4:51outfit in my opinion. Same thing with the rompers and dresses that I just
- 4:55mentioned. When I'm going out to run errands or if I'm at home,
- 4:58I don't want to wear something uncomfortable. I wonder wears something that's comfy that
- 5:01I can wear all the time. So sports have been a very gravitating item
- 5:05for me. I got two squirts from a Ritzia. And I know Alo
- 5:10Yoga sells some really cute ones lu Lemon all that. So those activeware brands
- 5:15are really launching a lot of sports lately and a lot of cute ones,
- 5:19a lot of stable colors all that. So I yeah, I can't say
- 5:24enough good things about athleisure wear when it comes to just chill outfits at home,
- 5:28especially if you work from home. As I said, just being able
- 5:30to still look put together but feel comfortable and what you're wearing. Another thing
- 5:35that I've been loving is linen pants. I feel like parachute pants were really
- 5:41in last summer, and I still find that they're in this summer. But
- 5:45I feel like more of the linen look is what's in. I still wear
- 5:48my parachute pants obviously, just because they feel like they're sweatpants, but you
- 5:53feel like you're a bit more put together. And the linen pants, I
- 5:57find, is like a level up. It just gives more of a casual
- 6:00but put together look. You could dress it up, you could dress it
- 6:02down, and as I said, still put together. Okay, let's talk
- 6:06about jeans, because I feel like jeans have definitely changed a lot. I
- 6:12want to stay within these past few years. It used to be all about
- 6:15high wasted jeans. Now I feel like it's all about low wasted jeans,
- 6:23which I feel like a lot of people have mixed opinions about. Like I
- 6:26feel like the high wasted girlies are like I'm never going back like high wasted
- 6:30forever, like never changing back to low wasted, but I felt like I
- 6:36was that girl where I was all about high wasted, and then I discovered
- 6:41low wasted, but more of the bag year gene. I do not wear
- 6:46skinny jeans anymore, and that's one of the fashion trends that I'll talk about
- 6:49that's out. But I do not gravitate towards skinny jeans. I don't even
- 6:51think I have a pair of skinny jeans and like a wardrobe anymore. I'm
- 6:55pretty sure I've donated all my skinny jeans or have given them away, anything
- 6:59like that. But I just don't gravitate towards that look anymore. I'm always
- 7:02looking for oversized, baggy, low rise jeans. That is my go to
- 7:08gene. When it comes to a gene that I want to wear for going
- 7:11out or a midrise, that is the most rise I will do. I
- 7:15will never wear a highways to gene again. I just feel like it doesn't
- 7:17suit my body type. I know some people like that for their body type,
- 7:21but I've noticed a lot of people shifting towards the baggy low rise gene.
- 7:28That's just what's in. My favorite got gene is the Levi Dad jeans.
- 7:33It is the perfect low slash mid rise gene that gives the perfect amount
- 7:39of bagginess. It's not like it looks like I'm wearing my dad's jeans.
- 7:43It's the perfect bagginess like that's the best way to describe it. It's not
- 7:47too baggy where it looks like it's your dad's pants. It's the perfect amount
- 7:50of bagginess where it just looks a little oversized on you, but still very
- 7:54put together and looks super flattering. But yeah, I don't want to go
- 7:59too much into gene because I feel like people are very picky about specific genes
- 8:03that they wear. And I know people that still wear high waisted, skinny
- 8:05jeans because that's what they find is the most flattering on their body type,
- 8:09which is totally fine. So this is just something again that I'm talking about
- 8:13that I've seen on TikTok and social media and what I feel like is most
- 8:16in right now. Okay, so let's get into heels now. I've noticed
- 8:22that the smaller the heel the better lately, and more towards the slip on
- 8:26heel. I really notice the pointy heels making a comeback last summer, where
- 8:31it's just like a pointy heel classic workshoe, you know, like the Christian
- 8:37Lubitan heels like those are a bit extreme of what I'm talking about, but
- 8:39it gives you guys a general idea of what type of shoe I'm talking about.
- 8:43But anyways, the slip in pointed toe heels but with a mini heels.
- 8:46I'm trying to think of the type of heel that they call this shoe.
- 8:50I think it's called the kitten heel, where it's a mini heel and
- 8:54it's just a slip on shoe, as I said, but with a pointed
- 8:56toe. Anyways, I've been seeing a lot of influencers wear it. I
- 9:00recently got myself a pair and I'm literally obsessed. I never thought I would
- 9:05love a low rice heel so much. I've always been into the platform,
- 9:09thick, high high heels just because the higher the heel, I find I
- 9:13feel more confident walking in like a high heel. But these are very very
- 9:18classy, very very elegant, so easy to walk in, so like convenient
- 9:22to where I wore them for two parties that I went to these past two
- 9:26weekends, and they were so comfortable, did not complain about my feet being
- 9:30store at all, which is literally the best feeling ever not having to take
- 9:33your shoes off when you're at a house party or something like that. So
- 9:37anyways, highly recommend. I'm gonna link my Revolved favorites in this episode description
- 9:41as well, just to show you guys some styles that I've been talking about.
- 9:43If you guys, are you know, not the most fashion sense and
- 9:48you want to gain some inspo from this episode of things to purchase, I
- 9:52will link that down below just to give you an idea of putting a visual
- 9:56while I'm talking about some of these fashion trends. So you'll probably see the
- 9:58kid and heel that I'm talking about in my Revolve favorites and all that.
- 10:01That way just gives you an idea of what a visual is for the things
- 10:05that I'm talking about. But another thing when it comes to shoes is platform
- 10:11flip flops. I never thought these would ever come back in style. It's
- 10:16funny because my mom wears platform flip flops and she's always worn them, like
- 10:22I'm talking like years upon years upon years, Like I feel like she just
- 10:24never let them go, Like obviously it was something that was trending in the
- 10:28nineties and she just never let that style go for her. So she would
- 10:31wear them, you know, five years ago, and I'm like, mom,
- 10:33you need to change up your shoes, like this is not in whatever.
- 10:37She still wears them to this day. Like that style, she always
- 10:39had a hard time finding them to like wear, Like she'd go to guests,
- 10:43she'd go to like random shops and they'd be like, yeah, no,
- 10:46like we don't sell platform flip flops. And she'd always have to find
- 10:48like random companies just to obviously like upgrade the pair. And they made a
- 10:54huge comeback and she's so happy that they're back. And it's just funny because
- 10:58I'm like, my mom literally just never stopped wearing them, and now it's
- 11:01just such a big thing. But I saw Emma Leisure. I don't know
- 11:05if you guys follow her on Instagram, but she posted these old navy platform
- 11:09flip flops that were like ten bucks. That is literally the most ideal pair
- 11:13to buy, because we don't know how long they're going to be staying in
- 11:16style. For it's ten dollars, it's not like you're splurging on one hundred
- 11:20and fifty dollars pair of I don't even know what brand I'm gonna say,
- 11:22Steve Madden flip blops that you don't even know are going to still be in
- 11:26style by next summer, So definitely check o Old Navy. I ordered myself
- 11:30the white and black pair. I don't know how often I'll wear them.
- 11:33I'm curious to see if it's going to fit my style. I may even
- 11:35return them. I have no idea. I feel like a lot of these
- 11:37trends as well, are definitely like different for everyone. Not everybody's gonna feel
- 11:43like it suits their fashion sense. Like these platform flip blops. I know
- 11:46they're in style, but I don't know if it's going to suit my fashion,
- 11:50so I ordered them. I'll keep you guys posted if I like them.
- 11:54But yeah, so know that not all these things will work for you,
- 11:58but it just gives you an idea of Like I said, what's trending
- 12:01this year? Okay this, I have been on top of belts. I've
- 12:05been obsessed with belts lately. I got two belts from Aritzia, a gold
- 12:09belt and a silver belt, and I find it's the easiest way to elevate
- 12:13an outfit. You can literally throw in a pair of jeans, throw on
- 12:16a black T shirt, and add a belt to the outfit, and you've
- 12:18already elevated the look by ten times more by just adding a belt and then
- 12:24adding a nice pair of kitten heels, Like there's your going out outfits.
- 12:26So I feel like belts have made a huge comeback. I have been loving
- 12:31it doesn't have to be like an outrageous belt, could be the most simple
- 12:35belt. It just again elevates a very simple look. And I have felt
- 12:39like I've been in my Sofia Ritchie era, and I feel like everybody's saying
- 12:43that she blew up on TikTok with her whole prep of her wedding series of
- 12:50her getting ready, and her style is just so modest, elegant, put
- 12:56together. And I've really discovered with myself. I really feel like I've found
- 13:00a modest side and more elegant side to my fashion. I used to always
- 13:03gravitate towards like crop tops and all that, and don't get me wrong,
- 13:07it's still like to wear that for going out, but for like a day
- 13:09to day outfit to run errands and all that. I'm feeling more and more
- 13:15comfortable wearing like longer shirts, like T shirts, and like long sleeves and
- 13:20just adding again a belt with a pair of jeans and a pair of kitten
- 13:24heels, Like I find that is so elegant and put together. And yeah,
- 13:30I don't know, I've just been really liking that look. So I've
- 13:33been really steering away from the crop tops for everyday looks and just steering more
- 13:37towards like basic teas and then elevating it with belts, jewelry all that.
- 13:43Lastly, I'm going to talk about one thing that I think is really in
- 13:46for jewelry. I feel like jewelry is always changing every year, but right
- 13:50now I feel like staple earrings are really in it just again elevates an outfit,
- 13:56but just like getting bigger and more out their earrings for your outs makes
- 14:00it look more put together. It doesn't have to be hoops, like I
- 14:03feel like coops are always in, but I feel like lately it's been those
- 14:05Botega teardrop earrings, Like I got a dupe for those from Anthropology that literally
- 14:11looked like the real thing, but they were like forty bucks. You can
- 14:15get really good staple earrings from Amazon, like they could be super affordable.
- 14:18There's also a new brand called Heavy Manners. The influencer named Pia. She
- 14:22owns it and she has beautiful, beautiful staple earrings. I love her collections
- 14:28so so much. And again, as I said, it's just like a
- 14:30nice little thing to add to an outfit. Okay, so what's out for
- 14:33fashion? One thing that I need to highlight that I felt like was so
- 14:37in last year and I'm so happy I never got on the bandwagon and bought
- 14:41these was those Dickies fold over pants. I was not into those at all,
- 14:48and I felt like those blew up all over TikTok, and now nobody
- 14:52is wearing them. So definitely don't like that fold over. Do you guys
- 14:56know the pants I'm talking about. They're like the fold over dress pants almost,
- 15:01and they had like that white band across the hips. Yeah, those
- 15:03are the pants I'm talking about. Those are definitely not in anymore. I
- 15:05never bought them and I just don't think. Yeah, I don't think they're
- 15:11meant for summer twenty twenty three. Another thing that I think is out is
- 15:13mini handbags. Like I'm talking mini mini handbags to the point where all you
- 15:18could fit is a lip gloss and you can't even fit your cell phone.
- 15:22I felt like those are really in last summer, and I just don't see
- 15:24them being practical whatsoever. I just don't see the point in spending the money
- 15:28on a purse that can literally only fit your lip gloss or maybe your wallet,
- 15:33maybe if you have a card holder wallet. So I never purchased a
- 15:37mini hambag. I don't plan on purchasing one. I use a handbag for
- 15:43the practicality, Like I need something to fit my phone in my wallet,
- 15:46my random eighty five lip glosses and lip liners, like that's just a must
- 15:50for me. So a mini handbag is just not practical for me, and
- 15:54I just don't think is really in for summer twenty twenty three. We already
- 15:56talked about highways jeans and skinny jeans, But another thing I feel like that's
- 16:02not really in anymore is ripped jeans. I feel like I'm seeing less and
- 16:06less ripped jeans on like websites in general. I've seen a few with like
- 16:11a one hole in the knee and that's it, which I think is fine,
- 16:15But I'm not seeing ones with like rips down the thighs, the legs
- 16:18like anything like that. I've seen a few pair of jeans with slits on
- 16:22the side, which I think looks really nice as well. But yeah,
- 16:26I feel like ripped jeans are not the biggest thing right now, and the
- 16:29last thing for a fashion out is lace up heels. I don't really see
- 16:33many people wearing those. I also personally find those are extremely uncomfortable and I
- 16:38never know how to tie them properly. I feel like I'm always not gravitating
- 16:42towards that. I'm always just gravitating towards a heel that I can just slip
- 16:45on or strap in, Like I just love a good staple like sandal heel
- 16:52that you could wear for every day or as I said, just a slip
- 16:55on. So I don't really feel like a lace of heels are very in
- 17:00this summer. Okay, let's talk about wellness trends, because you guys know
- 17:03I'm all about health and wellness. This one trend I've seen all over my
- 17:10for you page, and it's not really like something I've seen specifically. I've
- 17:12seen just people do it in their morning vlogs, and it's something that I've
- 17:18actually wanted to try and I really want Zach to try as well. Is
- 17:22mouth taping. I know it sounds weird. It kind of looks concerning as
- 17:26well, but it's supposed to help you focus on breathing out of your nose
- 17:30burst your mouth at night, because apparently there's some health benefits to blowing through
- 17:34your nose instead of blowing out through your mouth. I definitely breathe through my
- 17:38mouth when I'm sleeping. Zach definitely does as well. So I've seen a
- 17:44few people doing the mouth taping. I think you can get it off Amazon.
- 17:48I don't think you have to go to a specific place to order it,
- 17:52but it's very like minimal. It's like the smallest little piece of tape.
- 17:56You literally just put it in the top of your like the top to
- 17:57the bottom of your lips. You sleep with it. So it feels kind
- 18:02of scary when I think about it, because I'm like, i feel like
- 18:03I'm going to suffocate myself because I'm so used to breathing out of my mouth
- 18:08while i sleep. So definitely something I want to do more research on.
- 18:11But it's definitely something that I've seen become more and more popular through social media,
- 18:17specifically when I've seen a few people do the mouth taping. I don't
- 18:21know about you guys, but I have been on running TikTok. I feel
- 18:23like everybody and anyone I know is getting into running. And I've always been
- 18:30a runner, I've never really took it as a weekly thing until last summer.
- 18:37I made it a weekly like thing that I like to do just to
- 18:40get a good sweat in. And I also find running is very therapeutic.
- 18:44I love to go on my walk, so if I can also get an
- 18:45even better workout in by going for a run, yeah, I don't know.
- 18:49I just like to throw a podcast on or some music on, even
- 18:52just running for like twenty five to thirty minutes. I don't really put a
- 18:56distance on how long I run. I put a time so some of you
- 18:59guys are like coming to do you run three K, five K, ten
- 19:00k, Like, I literally just run for thirty minutes. I put a
- 19:03thirty minute time er on. I run around the block of my neighborhood until
- 19:07I've reached the thirty minutes, and then I come in the house. So
- 19:08I don't really track how far I run. I just like to do it
- 19:12because I find it's very therapeutic. And yeah, I just find I've been
- 19:17on running TikTok, where a lot of people are just you know, come
- 19:18on a run with me for my very first time, like just explaining them
- 19:23becoming a running TikToker and one of my best friends Land She's a runner and
- 19:30I always enjoy watching her. TikTok's just about like her running tips because obviously,
- 19:36like she has the key components as to like things you should be using
- 19:41for when you're running. So she has like the best running shower, it's
- 19:45the best runners to use all that, So I always look at her for
- 19:48advice when it comes to what to get for a runner, because I definitely
- 19:52don't have the best running shoes when it comes to running, but I also
- 19:56don't run like ten ks, so I also don't want to injure myself though,
- 20:00so I'm definitely looking at running tiktoker's just to get some advice on what
- 20:06the best running shoes are to get. I hear the Hokos Hookahs Hokos Hokas,
- 20:11I think it's Hoka's. The Hookahs running shoe is really popular. I've
- 20:18definitely seen a lot of people on TikTok like rave about that brand for runners.
- 20:22So definitely something I plan to look into if I want to keep up
- 20:27with my running. I also don't know if I told you guys this,
- 20:30but I've been kind of low key on like posting my workouts and all that
- 20:37on social media because I actually pulled my quad again. If you guys remember
- 20:41last summer, I pulled both my quads and I was out of sports for
- 20:45like I want to say, well, working out in sports for a month
- 20:48probably, which isn't that bad, but I pulled it two weeks ago.
- 20:52I'm feeling a lot better. I can definitely still like do spinning classes and
- 20:57do the you know, typical Matt workouts that I do at home, but
- 21:00I have to avoid certain workouts, which sucks. But I haven't been able
- 21:04to run, which kind of sucks. So I'm talking about running TikTok here
- 21:07and I'm like, freg, I miss running, but I definitely can't get
- 21:11back into running for at least another two weeks until my leg is one hundred
- 21:15percent back to the strength that it needs to be. So that's a little
- 21:19personal update on that. But yeah, definitely miss running. I wish I
- 21:23could be outside right now and get a good run in, but I know
- 21:27I'm two weeks away from gradually getting back into it. Definitely not going to
- 21:32force back into it. It's going to be more of a walk and run
- 21:36kind of, you know, workout. But it's definitely worth getting back into
- 21:40because I enjoy it. But yeah, that's a personal update on my side.
- 21:45This is something that I feel like was trending last summer and it's still
- 21:47trending this summer. Is pilates. We know everybody loves a pilates princess.
- 21:52I always love doing a good pilates class here at home. I'm a big
- 21:56Matt pilates girl. I've definitely tried the Reformer, which is the machine that
- 22:03you use at actual studios, but we don't really have a very good one
- 22:07here in Ottawa. I know, they just recently opened up a new place
- 22:10in Westboro called the Playground, which looks really really cool. They have the
- 22:15Reformer machines, but they also have pilates mats, So I'm actually trying a
- 22:18pilates mat class next week, which I'm really excited about. But the Reformer
- 22:25is something I find is like very intimidating. Like I tried a few classes
- 22:30here in Ottawa and I love it, but it's definitely difficult. It's not
- 22:33something that's very easy. Now I was also using a Mega Reformer, so
- 22:37there could be a difference. I know there is a difference in certain reformers
- 22:41that you use, so it really depends on what works for you. But
- 22:45I was using a Mega Reformer and I did about seven to eight classes and
- 22:51I just felt like every time I went to the class, I was really
- 22:52struggling. So it's definitely something you need to know that it's going to take
- 22:57time to get used to and get a better understanding of how to do the
- 23:03right movements on the machine. It's almost like learning a new sport, right,
- 23:07like learning golf, learning tennis. Like I'm currently learning golf. I
- 23:10suck and I hate sucking at something. I'm that kind of person where like
- 23:12I want to be good at something and that's when I enjoy it. If
- 23:17I'm not good at something, then I'm I hate to see it, but
- 23:19I just want to give up and I'm like, oh, I'm not good
- 23:22at it, Like I'm going to go back to what I'm good at.
- 23:23So I'm trying to give myself that positive mindset where it's like it's good to
- 23:29train new things. It's good to train new hobbies and to stick to it
- 23:32and know that if I keep at it, I'm going to get better at
- 23:36it. So anyway, so I'm hoping that this new pilates studio might reinspire
- 23:41me to get into a reformer pilates class. But they have matt classes,
- 23:45which I'm very excited about. And I've just always love pilates. Guys know
- 23:48that I love low impact workouts, not really into heavy weighted workouts, so
- 23:53I'm forever in my pilates era. I love pilates so much. It's just
- 23:59my favorite thing. Also, just going to highlight like these are not even
- 24:02trends, like these are, Like I'm talking about workouts right now, this
- 24:04is not really a trend and this is something that you know, people have
- 24:07been doing for so long. I just think these are things that I feel
- 24:10like I've been seeing a lot of people post lately on social media that people
- 24:14are getting into. So I just don't want someone to come at me for
- 24:18saying, Kaylee, these aren't trends. I know that some of these things
- 24:21are not trends, but these are just things that I've been seeing more popular
- 24:23demand on when it comes to social media, all that pinterest. So yeah,
- 24:30I just want to clarify that. So this is another one, again
- 24:33not a trend, but this is something that I've seen a lot of people
- 24:34have been doing lately, is the cold water plunge, which is if you
- 24:38guys don't know what that is, it's basically a bath full of ice and
- 24:44you plunge your body into it for I think it's about three to four minutes,
- 24:48three to five minutes, correct me if I'm wrong, but typically go
- 24:51in for a decent amount of time. And the benefits to a cold plunge
- 24:53is decreasing inflammation, improves sleep, mood, reduces stress all And this is
- 25:00something that I've really wanted to get into, even if it's just like finishing
- 25:03your warm shower with a cold shower for three minutes, just something to feel
- 25:08that cold's, you know, sensation on your body and helping ways to improve
- 25:15my mood, reduce my stress all that. Definitely, reducing stress is something
- 25:18that I've been working on lately because I feel like I've noticed a lot of
- 25:23signs of stress in my daily life. Like one thing that I was expressing
- 25:27to my mom was I've noticed that my stutter and my speech has started to
- 25:30come back. When I was a kid, I had a really bad stutter
- 25:33and I'm like, Mom, I don't know why it's coming back, and
- 25:36she's like, typically, like once you're you know habits that you've had when
- 25:38you were a kid, like when it's related to speech specifically, is sometimes
- 25:44it can come back due to an overwhelming amount of stress. So I'm like,
- 25:48I definitely need to improve on my stress levels, and I'm trying to
- 25:55get back into meditation. I used to do meditation all last year year for
- 26:00like ten minutes in the mornings, just journaling, doing my planning and doing
- 26:04meditating, and so I just did my first meditation in a long time this
- 26:08week this morning specifically, and it felt really really nice to get back into
- 26:14it. I use the app Alo Moves and they have a certain category where
- 26:19there's different types of meditation classes that you can do. So I'm really trying
- 26:23to keep at that and be consistent at that, I hope every single day,
- 26:30if not every second day. But I feel like meditation is something that's
- 26:33been going on for a while. That's definitely not something that's popular right now.
- 26:36I feel like it's always been a thing, but yeah, that's something
- 26:38that I'm personally working on, is reducing my stress. So I definitely would
- 26:41love to try cold plunge. I've seen it at a few spots and I'm
- 26:45always like, yeah, no, I'm not doing that, Like I literally
- 26:48like avoid it completely, but I know I should probably try it and just
- 26:51force myself to do it for three minutes. But we're going to start start
- 26:55up with meditation first to help reduce my stress and hope that yeah, that
- 27:00helps me out. Okay. Last thing is a scalp massager. You guys
- 27:03have probably seen it. Everybody's using it to wash their hair or to get
- 27:07the hair oils absorbed into your scalp. Apparently it's supposed to help stimulate hair
- 27:11growth overall health of your hair all that. I use a scalp massager.
- 27:15I don't really use it to prep my hair before a shower. I actually
- 27:18use it in the shower for champooing and all that because I have fake nails
- 27:22and I always find when I wash my hair sometimes the hair gets stuck under
- 27:26the nails and it's so painful. If you guys know, you know,
- 27:30so I always use a scalp massager and it also feels really really nice to
- 27:34use that in the shower specifically, So I got mine off Amazon I think
- 27:38it was like twelve bucks and yeah, it's just yeah, very very nice.
- 27:42I find it definitely is good for someone who's trying to improve their hair
- 27:47growth. So I know you guys message me a lot about how can I
- 27:51grow my hair? All that. I know scalt massagers are great and hair
- 27:53oils, so definitely look into that type of treatment if you're looking for really
- 28:00good hair growth results. Okay, I didn't really find many like wellness trends
- 28:06that are out again because I feel like wellness is not really about a trend.
- 28:10It's just about, like, you know, what are people doing more
- 28:14of this year basically. So one thing that I noticed that people are definitely
- 28:18not doing and should not be doing. This is something I'm really against is
- 28:23the DTOC cleanses or t cleanses all that. I have never ever supported a
- 28:29brand in any way through those type of things, Like I just don't believe
- 28:33in that. I don't want to promote something on my social media that I
- 28:37personally think is toxic to the body in my opinion, like when people say,
- 28:41oh, yeah, I'm gonna do a juice cleanse and all you do
- 28:42is drink juices all day and not eat any food in your body. I
- 28:47can't stand that type of stuff, like you need food in your body to
- 28:49fuel your body. Like, I don't believe in those juice cleanses at all,
- 28:53or those tea cleanses that literally just make you sit on the toilet all
- 28:57day and think that you're losing weight by crapping everything out of your body.
- 29:02Sorry to say it, but it's a truth. So I don't believe in
- 29:06any of that stuff. I really don't think you guys should be falling for
- 29:07any promotions of anything like that, if an influencer is promoting it or if
- 29:11you see it at you know, in an ad on social media. It's
- 29:14just not something that I think is healthy for you at all. And I
- 29:18feel like that's something that really went out, you know, out the door
- 29:22in terms of a wellness trend, like a few years ago. But I
- 29:25just wanted to re emphasize that part because I feel like a lot of people
- 29:29still believe in that stuff, like even my mom. I feel like it's
- 29:32more of the older generation, not really us. But even my mom was
- 29:34like, oh, like she'll see something about a juice cleanse and I'm like,
- 29:37mom, please, this is not something that you need to you know,
- 29:41even like those vitamins like oh, take this weight loss pill and it's
- 29:45going to make you lose weight. Like that stuff does not work. So
- 29:48please do not fall for any of those traps. But those are things that
- 29:52I just like always want people to understand that it's not worth your money,
- 29:57it's not worth your health. It's just not going to work. So avoid
- 30:02that it all costs because it's just not It's not healthy for you. It's
- 30:04not it's really not. One thing that I saw a lot of people use
- 30:07last year that I felt like a lot of people aren't using this year is
- 30:10that new face machine where it's a facial massager. It's like that technology.
- 30:15It's like four hundred dollars I think, and it's that machine that's supposed to
- 30:19like sculpt out your face. And I just don't really see a lot of
- 30:25people using that anymore. I personally see a lot of people using their hands
- 30:29or like an actual like Guasha or facial roll or they're not really using a
- 30:33machine. So that's something and I feel like a lot of people are doing
- 30:37more so and less of is spending a lot of money on expensive facial tools
- 30:42and all that and just gravitating towards more affordable options that are going to give
- 30:45you that same type of look, because I do love the facial massages.
- 30:51I use my hands and I find it just drains out any fluids or any
- 30:56puffiness on your face if you want to, you know, deep puff your
- 31:00face, which is you know, could be water intake just in your face
- 31:03that you're trying to like deep puff. I just find using my hands as
- 31:07honestly the best. I'm not the best with Aguasha. I also have a
- 31:11facial roller that I use that I love, But yeah, I haven't really
- 31:15seen anyone use the new face machine, So that's just something I've noticed that
- 31:18I feel like a lot of people haven't been using anymore. Okay, so
- 31:22let's talk about self care makeup trends I find lately I've noticed a lot of
- 31:29people wearing less makeup and seeing it as like the new tip of makeup is
- 31:34making it look like you're wearing nothing on your face, but you're actually wearing
- 31:37makeup, if that makes sense. So just doing a very natural, glowy
- 31:41makeup look, not really doing foundation. I'm all about skin tins and I
- 31:45still do contour, I still do blushed, but I just don't really wear
- 31:48a foundation, and I find it gives that perfect every day no makeup makeup
- 31:52look. I haven't really been gravitating towards putting mascara on. I literally just
- 31:56crawled my lashes, and a lot of the stuff that I've learned for like
- 32:00my makeup hacks, is all through TikTok. I see these TikTokers, they
- 32:04show their natural no makeup makeup look, and this is what they do.
- 32:07They just do skin tents. They do, you know, everything that they
- 32:09would usually for everyday, like going out bases where it's like, you know,
- 32:13bronzing your face, putting the blush on all that. But you know,
- 32:15stead of wearing mascara, you're just curling your lashes, and you know,
- 32:19instead of wearing lipstick, you're just putting a you know, a lip
- 32:22bomb on or a lip gloss on, whatever it is. So that's person
- 32:25what I find is really in right now is just less makeup is more and
- 32:29just the no makeup makeup look. Okay, this is something I haven't tried
- 32:31yet, but I have seen a lot of people do it to give that
- 32:35sculpt look on your face, but with makeup is self Tanner I've seen a
- 32:39lot of people put self tanner on their contour areas of their face, where
- 32:43it's the jawline, the contour areas on your cheekbones, your forehead, all
- 32:49that, and you put it on the night before, you sleep with it.
- 32:52You wake up the next morning and your self tanner develops in those areas
- 32:57and it literally gives that snatch look. So what they do is that they
- 33:00take the self tanner and they put it on a makeup rush and you literally
- 33:04would contore your face as you would with a bronzer or with a contour stick,
- 33:07and then, like I said, you fall asleep, you wake up
- 33:08the next morning and it's all blended in perfectly, and it literally looks like
- 33:12you have like permanent bronzer on your face in your contour areas, which I
- 33:15really want to try, But this is a thing. If you're that kind
- 33:19of person wear a skin is sensitive to breaking out from self tanner, that
- 33:22could be an issue. So it really depends if you can do self tanner
- 33:25on your face. I highly recommend trying that. For me, my concern
- 33:29is just because I have very sensitive skin, it might react and I might
- 33:31just break out. So I definitely think it's something worth trying if you are
- 33:36into self tanning, and yeah, I don't know. I find it gives
- 33:38a real good look. I've seen a lot of people do it on TikTok
- 33:40and I think it looks so so good. Another makeup hack that I've been
- 33:44seeing on TikTok is the Mary Phillips hack, where it's do your foundation after
- 33:52putting your contour, your blush, basically everything. So you start with your
- 33:57contour, your blush, you do your conceal, you do your setting,
- 34:00everything, and then you put your foundation over top of that. I still
- 34:04haven't tried that yet. I don't know why I haven't. I think I'm
- 34:06just so used to my you know, everyday makeup routine that I just haven't
- 34:10really done the opposite of doing the foundation after. So this is definitely something
- 34:15I still want to try. But I hear really really good things about and
- 34:17obviously, if Mary Phillips is doing it on the biggest celebrities and their makeup
- 34:22always looks so good, I obviously need to try it. But let me
- 34:24know if you guys have tried it. I'm definitely wanting to try it,
- 34:27but I've seen that all over TikTok okay. I've seen this, This has
- 34:30been for a while. Heatless curls, everybody using those bands that you put
- 34:36in your hair and sleeping with it overnight. I've seen some people even use
- 34:38socks to give that heatless curl in the morning. But just the overall like
- 34:45blowout look all that, Like nobody's straightening their hair anymore. That is totally
- 34:49out, in my opinion. Everybody's doing the blowout, heatless curls, all
- 34:54that. So that's definitely something that's been really in lately. Another thing I
- 34:59noticed is everybody's wearing lip gloss, just lip gloss, lip liners, all
- 35:05that. Nobody's wearing lipstick. I notice this for myself where I'm like,
- 35:08when was the last time I actually bought myself an actual lipstick and I put
- 35:12it on my lips like never, I'm always gravitating towards a lip liner and
- 35:15a lip gloss. That is my go to, my everyday lip combo.
- 35:19And I just feel like a lot of brands are really not coming out with
- 35:22many lipsticks anymore. That could just be me, but I yeah, I
- 35:25feel like lipliners and lip glosses have been the go to for everybody lately.
- 35:30Okay, so now let's get in two outs for self care makeup trends.
- 35:35All that I talked about lipstick like that, I feel like it's not really
- 35:38in anymore. I talked about straighteners. I feel like everyone's doing more of
- 35:43the blowout look, not really straightening their hair. One thing that I've seen
- 35:46a lot of people do that I feel like is not really in anymore is
- 35:49the white eyeliner hack, where you put the white eyeliner in your waterline.
- 35:53I have never really done that. I don't know if it's because I have
- 35:55brown eyes. I've seen a lot of people who have like blue eyes or
- 35:59green eyes that do it. So yeah, that's something that I have been
- 36:04not into or just something that I don't really feel like isn't anymore. Another
- 36:07thing is super defined eyebrows, when people pencil their eyebrows in. I feel
- 36:13like, right now, it's not about how filled in your eyebrows is.
- 36:15It's more about the fluffiness. Everybody's doing that fluffy natural brow look and are
- 36:23steering more towards like thicker eyebrows verset thinner eyebrows, but definitely not like overdefined
- 36:30like I used to define my eyebrows so much and now I feel like I
- 36:32literally do nothing to my eyebrows. I just take like a browbrush and I
- 36:36just like brush out my eyebrows and that's literally it. I've been trying to
- 36:38find ones with like tints in it, just to give it more of a
- 36:42you know, emphasized look on my brows, because I do find eyebrows make
- 36:45a big difference on your face. But yeah, I definitely find the fluff
- 36:49of the eyebrows. The better I find, it looks again more natural,
- 36:53and yeah, just something that I find looks really really good. Lastly,
- 36:57one thing that I feel like I used to do all the time, Like
- 37:00I used to go to Walmart or Shoppers or anything like that, like a
- 37:04drug store and buy fake eyelashes and I'd wear them like over top of my
- 37:09lashes obviously when I'd be going out and all that. I do not do
- 37:13that anymore. I like never got eyelash extensions. I never have. But
- 37:17when eyelash extensions just started, I felt like everybody was doing it and I
- 37:22was like, oh, I don't want to do that. I'll just get
- 37:23fake lashes from Walmart or whatever, and I would just stick them on.
- 37:27I personally feel like they're kind of going out. I feel like they're I
- 37:31mean, there's some natural ones that you can't get that look actually really really
- 37:35good. But I don't know, I just feel like the only time I'd
- 37:37ever wear it would be for a special occasion, like maybe my wedding or
- 37:40my engagement party. Like I see people who wear it going out all the
- 37:44time or like even like every day, and I don't know, it's just
- 37:45like that's not something for me. Like I've seen a few of my friends
- 37:51who do the natural ones and they look so so good and it sometimes makes
- 37:53me want to go buy them, to be honest, But I've just noticed
- 37:57I feel like a lot of people used to gravitate towards that. I feel
- 38:00like now everybody's just going with their natural lash length and are making their makeup
- 38:04work with that natural lash. So that's just something I noticed that I feel
- 38:07like a lot less people are doing still something that I think is popular,
- 38:12just not as popular as I used to be. So that's everything that I
- 38:15can think of when it comes to things that are in and things that are
- 38:19out, I feel like these again are some of these things have always been
- 38:22in. It's just what is really popular right now versus what isn't. But
- 38:28I hope this helps you guys establish things that you might need this summer,
- 38:30things that you might want to start trying, things that you might try to
- 38:34avoid doing for twenty twenty three. It definitely gave me some inspo for trying
- 38:38new wellness things as well as just opening up my eyes when it comes to
- 38:43a more different type of fashion sense, but still sticking to my true style.
- 38:46But I hope you guys like this episode. I feel like it was
- 38:49kind of different than the typical ones I do, but I'm trying to change
- 38:52it up here and try different types of episodes. But since we're going into
- 38:55summer this week, I thought it'd be fun just to kind of highlight things
- 38:59that I think you're going to be trending this summer of twenty twenty three.
