- 2:37traveling. So, we'll Get this one started
- 2:40right away. So without further Ado, let's
- 2:42bring in my guest, Angel, at true.
- 2:45What's going on? Hello.
- 2:48Things have been so much for doing this.
- 2:50Yeah, absolutely. Try to work out the date and
- 2:52you're like, hey man, I'm I'm everywhere.
- 2:54Always, you are, you are grinding your work.
- 2:58Ethic is unbelievable. Thank you.
- 3:00Yeah. So you you how long have you
- 3:03been in the like, actually wrestling are in the business.
- 3:06I started training about a year ago and I Graduated last
- 3:10October. So I've only been out doing
- 3:14shows running as a graduate for about 4 months or and you are
- 3:19traveling everywhere. You you are putting in the work.
- 3:23I will say, I didn't realize how short.
- 3:25I know you said you, I kind of knew the answer to that when we
- 3:27talk when we when you work with ssw.
- 3:30But you don't look like someone who's been training only for a
- 3:34year or since October and out there doing your thing you and
- 3:37Riley put on a great match. You took probably one of the
- 3:40best super cakes I've ever seen from Philly.
- 3:41Mike. It looked amazing.
- 3:44Yeah. Yeah.
- 3:46But you are you are killing it. Like your work speaks for
- 3:48itself. I'm very proud of you.
- 3:51Like you said you just travel to Indiana and your I like you're
- 3:54always on planes and in the short amount of time you're just
- 3:56grinding and that's the way you get yourself saying this is
- 3:59going out there and put yourself out there to do it.
- 4:01Hmm? Yeah.
- 4:02It's fun. It's been fun.
- 4:04Yeah. So where did you train out of?
- 4:07I am a graduate from BWC. Which is big.
- 4:10He's wrestling camp out of shelves, Charlottesville
- 4:12Virginia. And that is Jimmy Valiant
- 4:16wrestling school. We actually just celebrated the
- 4:1930th Anniversary for the school, which is pretty cool.
- 4:23And yeah, so that's where I'm trained out of some good old,
- 4:26southern wrastlin under Jimmy Valiant nice.
- 4:30Now, is that the only goal or the only place you've ever kind
- 4:33of worked out of, I know some wrestlers, go try different
- 4:35schools, and have different experiences or work seminars and
- 4:38other places has happened. The only place you've been
- 4:40training and working out of, right?
- 4:42Yeah. Well, since I just graduated in
- 4:45October, you know, I've only had a few months to be out and doing
- 4:48shows. And I've been trying to fit my
- 4:51training with my school in between those times.
- 4:54So I haven't had a ton of time but actually Ricky Shane page
- 4:58just announced that he's starting up a new promotion that
- 5:02is kind of like a his own little version of NXT almost.
- 5:06So it's like a development promotion as well.
- 5:08So I thought It would be really fun.
- 5:10So I think I'm going to try to jump in on that and I think he's
- 5:12running that out of Ohio or you know one of the surrounding
- 5:17cities around Cleveland so I think that'll be cool.
- 5:20I've definitely been trying to expand a little bit and go to
- 5:23other schools and see what's up. Yeah, I've just had so many
- 5:27shows that like, just getting my own School in and keeping it
- 5:31consistent. You know, that's my priority and
- 5:34it's probably good to like it all really, depends, the angle
- 5:37you taken the attitude, you have going into it.
- 5:39So you can go and work, maybe a couple months since you
- 5:41graduated, see where maybe, hey, I need to work on this and
- 5:44improve on this because you have the on the job training right
- 5:47now, you know what I mean? Like, you go work with all these
- 5:49different names and all these amazing talented people from all
- 5:51over the country and you're not really in that bubble like most
- 5:54people that come out of a graduating class.
- 5:56They work a 50-mile radius of their house for years.
- 5:59Some people never leave that bubble and you are gonna storm
- 6:02out of time. You're traveling all over the
- 6:04country which is going to be amazing for your growth and your
- 6:07development. Yeah.
- 6:08I've been really fortunate. Jeanette that way.
- 6:10You know, I've been given a lot of opportunities quickly and,
- 6:16yeah, I'm just grateful. I just tried to never take that
- 6:18for granted and it's been fun being able to go out and see
- 6:23different scenes in different states and see how they do
- 6:26things. Yeah.
- 6:28So how did you how did this wrestling bug bite you?
- 6:30How did you get in this insane? Professional wrestling business?
- 6:34Well obviously like I think pretty much everyone starts off.
- 6:39If as a fan. So being a fan of wrestling, my
- 6:43former partner, Marcus crane was a wrestler for 16 years and he
- 6:50passed away December of 2021. And at the time he had been
- 6:55recovering for quite a bit of time from an injury and so we
- 6:59were getting him condition to be back in the ring and, you know,
- 7:04getting things back up to speed. And so there was just a lot of
- 7:08things. Left undone that he wanted to
- 7:10do. And you know it was one of those
- 7:13things where you know I made a promise that he'd be able to do
- 7:17that, that we figured it. Figure it out, and make it work.
- 7:20And because he had passed away. It was just one of those moments
- 7:24where I was like, you know, the best the next best thing that I
- 7:27can do is Do as best as I can. And try it.
- 7:35Just try to get in there and just keep his memory alive.
- 7:38And yeah, knock off. Some of the things on his to-do
- 7:42list and on a personal level, it was kind of a lifesaver, like
- 7:46going through such a traumatic time and having to deal with
- 7:51that and losing, you know, your partner, your best friends like,
- 7:54all of these things. And yeah, wrestling really was
- 7:58just a lifesaver. For me, it helped me see.
- 8:00Smile. Again, when I hadn't smiled in
- 8:04months since he had passed away stuff, definitely not eat.
- 8:09Well, you're kind of like the Charlotte moment, you know, I
- 8:12mean, you're kind of picking up a torch and a legacy for someone
- 8:15else and then finding your own niche in this business which is
- 8:18super commendable and it's awesome that you're you're
- 8:21finding passion in somebody else's.
- 8:23You know you're kind of living out someone else's dream which
- 8:25is beautiful. Thank you.
- 8:26Yeah. I never try to approach things.
- 8:30As. A replacement or an invitation
- 8:34for Marcus, because there's just no way anyone in the world could
- 8:38do that, you know, he was a one of a kind person and a
- 8:40one-of-a-kind wrestler. But I definitely do things in a
- 8:45way to honor him and to keep that memory going to keep the
- 8:49Marcus. Drink ain't Marcus crane chance
- 8:52going and you know the clothing company Dream Eater, I've kept
- 8:57that going and Yeah, I mean my only two goals when I started
- 9:02this was to make him proud and to make myself proud and so far
- 9:06I've been able to do that. So that's all I want.
- 9:10As you've only even only doing a short time and like I said,
- 9:12you're just the sky's the limit. Like I said, a lot of people, a
- 9:15lot of High Praise coming out of people, out of the camps of
- 9:17promotions, you are cat and people you've worked with and
- 9:20just the environment you bring the locker rooms, I you you or
- 9:22you are an absolute bright spot on that, Shore star locker room.
- 9:25That's already an environment in a short time that promotion has
- 9:28has built a really really Good locker room.
- 9:31And if someone people come in and just add to that, it's just,
- 9:34it's nice. It's really nice to be a part of
- 9:36that with other people like that Locker at one point in time that
- 9:40room that you guys were in. That was the other room.
- 9:42It was it was crazy. So watching that promotion
- 9:44develop and having people like yourself and come in and just
- 9:48only add to the experience was awesome.
- 9:51Peter Delong, my commentary partner there says huge
- 9:53potential doing things the right way, big fan and then r.i.p.,
- 9:57the devil's bid reg dick. Thank you Peter.
- 10:03Yeah. So what are some, you know,
- 10:06usually you want to take on that torch and do things.
- 10:07What are some goals that he said that unfortunately, he wasn't
- 10:10able to do that. You want to strive to achieve.
- 10:16Well, there are a few things and I just keep those personal,
- 10:21okay? Because Marcus was never one of
- 10:24those people that was like, You know, oh, I want this and this
- 10:29prestige in that and that the he only and it's the same way I am
- 10:33as a person, he only did things that had a Sentimental or
- 10:36personal meaning to him. He did have certain things that
- 10:39were big accomplishments like wrestling in.
- 10:42Japan is a big one wrestling. Danny Havoc was another big one,
- 10:47things like that but it's not like I'm gonna collect this
- 10:50this, this and this. You know what I mean?
- 10:53So I keep, I keep it more on a personal level and not because
- 10:57Yes. I'm like, oh, this is just to
- 11:00myself and blah blah blah. It's more.
- 11:02So because I've approached wrestling as There's a lot of
- 11:07talk and wrestling and there's a lot of things people will say
- 11:10that they're going to do and I like to talk less and show more
- 11:16so the things that I accomplished I like to do them
- 11:18and then that's all the proof that you need.
- 11:23I love that. That's that's that's a great
- 11:24attitude to have. That's like how they say talk is
- 11:26cheap or are don't tell people your plan Until It's Already
- 11:29Done type deal. Yeah.
- 11:31I like to surprise people once in a while.
- 11:34Yeah. Now you said there's a clothing
- 11:35line. And can we talk a little bit
- 11:37about that? Yeah, absolutely.
- 11:39Actually Dream Eater. I'm look the, the shoulder I
- 11:43thought for it looks like, like, Hydra from it is, it's Hydra
- 11:49like a gas mask. That's awesome.
- 11:52Hmm. How did this clothing line have
- 11:54this clothing line start and what is the idea behind the
- 11:57clothing line? Yeah, well Dream Eater Marcus
- 11:59started it a long time ago. I went to see 2013 and dream
- 12:04eaters actually for those. Like Pokemon.
- 12:07He is a big Pokemon fan, so that's actually from the Ghost
- 12:10Pokemon, but it's, it was just his creative Outlet.
- 12:16It's got a lot of, well, some of the first shirts were, in fact,
- 12:20Pokemon, but it's just got a lot of creative artwork.
- 12:24He focused a lot on Cryptids and monsters depictions of himself
- 12:29as well wrestling. Yeah.
- 12:33And so, he had that as like his merch thing.
- 12:36For a few years and then when he had his injury we really started
- 12:42putting a lot of effort and energy into it.
- 12:45Really getting the website built out and like nice and running an
- 12:48efficient and expanding the merch available.
- 12:53Like you can actually get like custom jerseys and things like
- 12:56that. And there's housewares and like
- 12:58all kinds of like stuff now. So you know, his ultimate goal
- 13:03was to be able to have that. That provide all of his income
- 13:08and then he could just do he'd have the freedom just to be able
- 13:13to do whatever you wanted. You know, just always be on the
- 13:16road or, you know, go travel here at the drop of a hat or
- 13:19whatever. So, Because of that.
- 13:24And because when he passed so many fans for like, like, where
- 13:28do we get Marcus crane merge, like why don't, you know, they
- 13:30wanted something to remember him by, and there is a couple of
- 13:35like those cheap, like bootlegging sites that started
- 13:38bootlegging is stuff. So I decided to keep the website
- 13:45going, keep the merch line going, get copyrights, so that I
- 13:49could tell the Bootleggers look. I'm gonna have to take legal
- 13:53action if you don't knock it off, not only is it messed up
- 13:55but like you know, legally kind of cash in on tragedy is never a
- 13:59good thing. Yeah.
- 14:00Definitely not. Yeah.
- 14:03And so with that, you know, Marcus was always a very giving
- 14:07person he loved the Deathmatch community so much, you know, it
- 14:12was like his second family and anytime one of his friends got
- 14:17injured, he would try to do something for them.
- 14:20Make a shirt design that you know, he could sell and raise
- 14:23money and so basically what I've done is kind of just kept Dream
- 14:30Eater in that vein solely like to help workers to help
- 14:36wrestlers when things like that come up, whether it's an injury
- 14:39or personal emergency, Like Hood foot had been injured earlier
- 14:46this year, the light tube. So we had raised some money
- 14:49from, for that for him. And we did a collaboration
- 14:53effort on that and Greg iron when his father was dealing with
- 14:58cancer. We also, we did a special
- 15:00limited edition, Marcus crane G Dream Eater shirt, and raise
- 15:05money for that, and we've raised money for several Charities.
- 15:08And yeah, just keeping the good going.
- 15:11You know, Marcus really love doing that for people and
- 15:15there's a lot of causes as well that he cared about.
- 15:17So being able to keep that going was important to me.
- 15:21That's awesome. I'm soon as we finish this
- 15:24interview, I'm going to be on the website looking because
- 15:25you've already sold me with pop culture references of Hydra
- 15:28injury as soon as you said the ghost form.
- 15:34So again, Gars my favorite but I yeah, that was his favorite too.
- 15:39Yeah. He's like, yeah.
- 15:43It's so it kind of looks like heavy metal pop culture and a
- 15:46little bit like the black craft almost like that Vibe like the
- 15:50horror you know, I mean yeah definitely you know right
- 15:54upright was a popular now. It's right up.
- 15:55Everyone's alley. So it's awesome and and and I
- 15:58believe I have it link to your social media as well as your
- 16:00website and I believe they can get to everything from there as
- 16:02well. Yeah, as far as Dream Eater
- 16:04goes, you can just go to Dream Dash eater dot shop and that'll
- 16:10bring up the website. Perfect.
- 16:12Perfect. Yeah.
- 16:13And now how you're saying you raise money and funds for
- 16:15people? That's that literally we just
- 16:17did that last night, 42 injured, wrestlers.
- 16:19You said Philly? Mike was wrestling for phone was
- 16:21probably three or four years just like just a bothering me
- 16:24injury and then he's like I'm gonna go checked out there like
- 16:26you don't have an e, it's gone everything's destroyed and he's
- 16:28like, well there goes a year of my career when I'm working
- 16:30really hard but people don't realize like when an independent
- 16:34wrestler was out there, they're not making crazy money.
- 16:36It's not something they can live off of right away and and when
- 16:39they get injured, they it affects their energy work and it
- 16:43So affects their Shoe jobs, you know.
- 16:45So the fact that people are really starting to have the
- 16:47understanding of the Indie scene, because it is getting so
- 16:50much bigger than it's ever been, right?
- 16:53Then right now and people are supporting and others.
- 16:56That's a beautiful thing to hear.
- 16:58So that's awesome. Everything about this dream.
- 16:59Eater brand is right up my alley.
- 17:01I love everything. You guys are doing with that and
- 17:03keep, and thank you for keeping that alive.
- 17:05Yeah, yeah. So you had some matches
- 17:09recently, I you just said you worked Indiana.
- 17:11So in your short amount of time, Time.
- 17:13What are some highlights? And some moments that you've had
- 17:16working that that are standouts for you?
- 17:20Well, every time we're going to use State, that's always fun.
- 17:24You know, it's nice to be able to go to different scenes.
- 17:28Yeah. Last week I not even last week
- 17:31Friday, I worked Shane Mercer's promotion xcf and he runs that
- 17:38out of Indiana and that was great.
- 17:39That was a three-way between me and thunder Kitty, and Billy
- 17:43Starks. And that was fun.
- 17:46I guess some of the highlights for me would be when I get to
- 17:49work. Work.
- 17:50I finally get to work my friends and acquaintances from wrestling
- 17:52before I started training, like that's kind of nice because I
- 17:58know them and we have this relationship but now I'm like,
- 18:02on the other side of the fence, right?
- 18:04I'm not the wrestling spouse running Merchant, like doing
- 18:07that kind of thing. I'm now like a worker, so it's a
- 18:10kind of fun transition. Ya Jus New Jersey, of course,
- 18:15was fun. That was a great show to be able
- 18:18to work and I'm a fan of, you know, little kid fans.
- 18:23I'm a fan of little kid fans. So, and they were They blast
- 18:28that night like being able to work for kids they just love it
- 18:35and they you look like a superhero to them and having the
- 18:38guys run back into the locker room and being like these kids
- 18:41just chased me. Yeah yo so I don't know if you
- 18:45know this story but when so in the spot Mike Super Kicks you at
- 18:50the end of the match and kind of cost.
- 18:52So it kind of leaves it open for you and Riley because you've
- 18:54never really had closure because Mike interfere because you were
- 18:57about to win. So Mike said, he went to the
- 19:00bathroom and there was a bunch of kids like in that room and
- 19:03they're like so you like hitting girls man?
- 19:05Huh? And they like surrounded them
- 19:07like they were gonna jump, they should have those kids were
- 19:13chucking stuff in the ring. Like the rest of the spot,
- 19:17someone opened The Floodgate, and let did the spot where they
- 19:19opened their chest and let someone slap them.
- 19:21So, anytime, a Russell came close, these kids will swinging
- 19:23on them. Yeah, actually I was people's
- 19:27hair. I was signing some like stuff
- 19:30for the kids like after the show and one of the little kids came
- 19:35up to me and he was like, you know, that guy should go to jail
- 19:38for kicking you in the face. I was like he should huh.
- 19:41Yeah they surrounded him. They were going to, they were
- 19:46going to take it out on, they're going to beat up feeling like
- 19:47that night. I was funny because like you
- 19:49wanted are digging. They closed it on me.
- 19:51I thought I should have to fight a little.
- 19:52It's a little kids. But yeah.
- 19:56That was that was a very, very Fun crowd.
- 19:59I, we left there where like, you know, that was in say, let the
- 20:02Restless coming to the back and they're like, yo, they that kid
- 20:05punched me in the gut like hard? Yeah.
- 20:09Yeah. Those are good.
- 20:11Yeah. They're they're always a
- 20:12highlight, you know, anytime I have a make a new fan that way
- 20:16or fan tells me how much what I do impacts them.
- 20:20That that means a lot, you know, being able to I don't want to be
- 20:25a role model but doing things that That people that identify
- 20:29with me, didn't think was possible especially teenage
- 20:32girls. You know, when I go in there and
- 20:34if I have a, you know, match or especially inter-gender matches
- 20:38and they're like, I didn't know like that was possible like you
- 20:42whooped his but I'm like, yeah like you know it's really nice
- 20:47to do that. And then of course, my
- 20:50championship match. When I picked up the BWC
- 20:53cruiserweight title that was, of course, a very that was a
- 20:56highlight age. That was meant a lot to me.
- 20:58So yeah, those are some of the highlights so far.
- 21:02Now growing up as a fan who were some of the wrestlers growing up
- 21:06that you watch that you're like, oh this is this is who I you
- 21:09now. Kind of emulate are try to feed
- 21:11off of in your style. Yeah, well I grew up in the
- 21:16Attitude Era. So late 90s early 2000s was like
- 21:19my Heyday. I didn't watch a lot of women's
- 21:24wrestling and so most of my wrestling came from the guys
- 21:28other than like China, of course, who didn't love her.
- 21:32Her as a like little girl like watching Attitude Era wrestling.
- 21:36She was always with us. China is wrong with Eddie is
- 21:41still hands down. Yeah.
- 21:42Mamacita like was gonna kind of got away from DX and she became
- 21:46Mamacita was my hands on my favorite.
- 21:49Yeah, it was amazing. So yeah, Eddie Guerrero is
- 21:51another one that I really like. As far as my personal wrestling
- 21:55style watching smaller people like to giri was one of my
- 21:59favorite as a kid. Yeah, well, the first time I saw
- 22:04him do green Mist, like I had never seen that happen before
- 22:08because I hadn't been exposed to Japanese wrestling really yet.
- 22:12And so, the first time that happened, it blew my mind was
- 22:14like, what is this? He just spit poison in his face
- 22:18and he's so agile and just, I mean, it's, he's amazing.
- 22:22You know, you watch him go up against some of the bigger guys
- 22:25and it's just phenomenal what he can do.
- 22:27So he's another one. Yeah, I'd say pretty much any of
- 22:32the Attitude Era, like superstars, of course, like
- 22:36Undertaker and Kane, and all of that, had an influence on me as
- 22:40well. Being a goth kid mankind, like,
- 22:44yeah, you know, anything where there's dark and fog and fire.
- 22:48Rude. Yeah.
- 22:51Well, like, any of that stuff? So I like, I mean I, as a
- 22:56wrestler now, especially to I can watch almost any kind of
- 23:00wrestling NG. But my heart lies in the spooky
- 23:03stuff. I love the like veggie spooky
- 23:06and I mean, it makes sense because I'm a big hardcore death
- 23:09batch fans, so I love the Smoky stuff but I cannot get into
- 23:13this. Bray Wyatt that's happening now.
- 23:15Oh yeah, I can't because there's no Aunt.
- 23:18It's, it's like watching lost. So I you you dedicated so much
- 23:23time in a loss and then every episode is just more questions
- 23:26and no answers and then you finally get to the end and they
- 23:28never answer anything. And that's essentially Rewired
- 23:31to me. It's like we think we never got
- 23:33any answers or payoffs with the fiend or any of those other
- 23:36characters. I'm not getting my hopes up.
- 23:37Again you got me twice, I'm not you're not getting at their
- 23:40time, right? But he's a good person, like his
- 23:42creative mind is cool and he brings it harder in and
- 23:45everything visually looks cool. But the story aspect I just
- 23:48can't I can't get into it. Fair enough.
- 23:50We have a first question here. Sean, Woodward says love the
- 23:53show. What are some promotions?
- 23:55You worked. You love the atmosphere at
- 23:56anyone and anyone you want to wrestle.
- 23:59It's a great question. Okay, let's go.
- 24:00And soon. Well, yeah, I had a great time
- 24:03at ssw. I thought that was a really fun
- 24:05show. Everyone was super professional,
- 24:08and I like that xcf. I just worked that promotion.
- 24:13Again chain Merchants promotion, that was awesome.
- 24:16Very cool. Positive environment, Shane
- 24:18Works incredibly hard, and it's actually really neat because a
- 24:22lot of the kids that he's training, he integrates into the
- 24:24matches as well so they can get their experience in and work
- 24:27with more experienced people. And he puts On a really nice
- 24:31positive environment and it's always a plus when you have that
- 24:36no peace underground. Was also another like last year,
- 24:42I never watched that ever and I became obsessed with Effie.
- 24:47I got ya don't beat me up because he's really intimidating
- 24:53Paro. Yeah.
- 24:55Okay. And they just wrestled on a
- 24:58stage in a bar and it was like it was like it was like a Last
- 25:01Man Standing but you had to stand like you to sit on a
- 25:05throne so you had to sit on the throne for a certain amount of
- 25:08time and it was Fe in this just it looks Paro.
- 25:10Looks like Bert Kreischer the comedian but just jacked Monster
- 25:14version like yes and I was that whole promotion.
- 25:20I was watching I was like like the storytelling was more there
- 25:25as well as the death match style like they were telling story as
- 25:28the match was going that was probably the first promotion.
- 25:30I watch, right? I really, really had more of an
- 25:33appreciation for that Deathmatch wrestling.
- 25:34Because of that promotion, dude, I went out and bought the
- 25:36T-shirt with the pentagram, with the rainbow flag.
- 25:39And it was like it was like I think like I forget what it all
- 25:43said but it was such a it was a very eligible, it was a LGBT Pro
- 25:47show but Deathmatch wrestling but not in a ring on a stage and
- 25:50I was like, this is so cool. Like, I don't know.
- 25:52I thought I'd love to remember with that shirt.
- 25:54If that was the time. Because he had the gate anak
- 25:59Panic at one point. I don't remember if they use
- 26:02that for the no peace shirt, which is hilarious.
- 26:05Like I love, I think it said like, like, but some were here
- 26:08for sin or something. I forget what it was like yeah
- 26:11it was great merch always associated with him but yeah no
- 26:15peace underground of just had their first show January 28th,
- 26:19their comeback show and they've always like, historically just
- 26:24been a killer promotion and They're hitting things Full
- 26:27Steam and that was a really fun promotional work for as well.
- 26:34Yeah, that show, too. I forget who was wrestling the
- 26:38card, but they're there. I'm so I'm still learning a lot.
- 26:42Like I said, I was in that 40-mile bubble.
- 26:44And now I'm starting to and I'm still new.
- 26:45So I'm still growing out. What shots he was their shots.
- 26:48He block her because she was friends with the one wrestler
- 26:51working. I just forget who it was now,
- 26:54but it's like I said, all I WT V.
- 26:56So if you're not Subscribe to that chant that promotion,
- 26:58you're insane because all this amazing wrestling is all over
- 27:01it. And you can watch.
- 27:01Yeah. And now, no, no peace
- 27:03underground. The show that we had like on the
- 27:0628th that's on fight so you can watch them really.
- 27:10And it's probably part of the fight plus 2 which is also an
- 27:13amazing deal. You get all G CW plus all these
- 27:16other in new promotions so it's like any wrestling is growing so
- 27:20much, it's so exciting. Paro and Shane Mercer so scary.
- 27:24I agree. Yeah, very good, really, I guess
- 27:27if you're on the wrong end. Yeah.
- 27:29Yeah, for sure that's done commentary.
- 27:31Commentaries. Will I stay another one here?
- 27:37Angel, not sure what's your dream opponent and tag partner.
- 27:40If you had to pick one, keep up the good work from the Anthony
- 27:42Graves podcast. Awesome, dream, opponent.
- 27:45You know, I get asked this a lot and it's always so hard for me
- 27:50to pick someone. I think if I was going to pick
- 27:56like, all time, like theoretically, like anyone from
- 27:59any point in time, I usually go with Eddie Guerrero, just
- 28:03because you're not just going to learn in ring but you're going
- 28:06to learn all aspects of the business, like he just oozed
- 28:11everything that you should be, as a wrestler.
- 28:15So that's one. I'd also really like to, like,
- 28:18historically speaking, I'd love to hang out and, like, wrestle
- 28:21around with Sputnik Monroe, like, he's a personal favorite
- 28:24of mine. Like older school like that.
- 28:27Well, there's a whole episode on him in my old podcast, tornado
- 28:31tag. So, just a quick little hit this
- 28:33spot. Rick Monroe was essentially a
- 28:35white dude back in the day, who was in the culture and was for
- 28:40people of color, and literally got so popular.
- 28:43And so big and used his privilege to say I'm not
- 28:46wrestling here. Unless you break the barriers of
- 28:48people of color sitting in the crowd.
- 28:50Like, I want, I want, I want black, I want black wrestlers to
- 28:53be worked here. I will.
- 28:54Blackout to be treated like they're athletes here and I
- 28:57don't want a barrier between white fans and black fans and he
- 29:01changed the game. Yeah, he helped desegregate
- 29:03wrestling in the South, for sure.
- 29:06So awesome, dude, great call and a total badass to you like yeah.
- 29:10Just like the look like everything I've read on him, and
- 29:13like, all of that. He just looks like someone that
- 29:15would be really fun to hang out. Yeah, that's a good.
- 29:18That's a good pic. Yeah, I didn't know.
- 29:19We were, when we did the episode on him, I knew nothing about
- 29:22him. My buddy.
- 29:22Brian taught me about, I'm like this.
- 29:24Dude's the Asked. Yeah, he really is.
- 29:26Yeah, he's super. That's a great pick.
- 29:28It's interesting. How you said, Eddie to just
- 29:31talking to wrestling, like, people who were in the business
- 29:34and you say like, hey, like, when two wrestlers go in the
- 29:36ring and the fans, see what happens in transpires in the
- 29:39ring, is, is beautiful. But what you don't realize as a
- 29:42fan is, when you're backstage behind the curtain and you see
- 29:45those Talent, work out the matches, you don't realize how
- 29:48much you guys feed off each other and learn and grow as
- 29:51Talent even before you hit the ring that night and just feeding
- 29:54off each. Other.
- 29:55So like a great example is Christina Marie when she worked.
- 29:59She worked two matches with Mercedes Martinez.
- 30:01She credits her a lot of her career as like being backstage
- 30:04at Mercedes. Mercedes and not just going over
- 30:06our match. But picking her brain and
- 30:08learning things about her in the business, help me as a
- 30:11professional and that was just working two matches on a weekend
- 30:13where you have maybe a couple hours to work with each other.
- 30:16And those small six segments are catastrophic for careers and
- 30:21positivity just helping you get better.
- 30:23So it's interesting. How you said the Eddie thing is
- 30:25like not only just putting a match together but learning from
- 30:28him, you know? Yeah, absolutely.
- 30:30I mean, being a new wrestler. I definitely try to When I have
- 30:35the ability to wrestle people that I can learn from because
- 30:40it's fun to do matches and it's fun to wrestle.
- 30:42But when your new being able to team up with someone or have an
- 30:48opponent that has more experience than you is
- 30:51invaluable, because you can learn so much in such a short
- 30:54period of time. And as far as like people
- 30:57currently that I'd like to wrestle.
- 31:00Su-yong is awesome. I got to like hang out a little
- 31:03bit with her at no pee. Peace and she's great and I love
- 31:06her gimmick and everything she does.
- 31:08Like that would be really cool kid Bandit who's also a newish
- 31:12wrestler that has gotten very popular, she's awesome and just
- 31:18really fun and I feel like I maybe we just hang out and do
- 31:21nerd stuff so like I'd really like to wrestle.
- 31:24Her had announced for Mania weekend's going to be f is gay
- 31:27brunch. Yeah, I think that's going to be
- 31:30a huge launching point for her. Is that is that show I think
- 31:33that like, she's already Climbing and people are really
- 31:35starting to, but I think mainly a week and gcw when they put
- 31:39together those shows that's their amazing show like speed
- 31:42ball speed ball. I think work every single show
- 31:44Mania weekend last year and he's now like the hottest thing going
- 31:47right now. You know I mean like like I get
- 31:49excited for that weekend just in general just to see people's
- 31:52launching points. Yeah it's cool to see who comes
- 31:54out of it. And I mean like most people and
- 31:57kid. They're both very talented.
- 31:59They're very they have a lot of agility and stuff.
- 32:01So I mean they definitely deserve All the praise they're
- 32:05getting and more. So yeah, kid would be fun to
- 32:08wrestle. My maxi Impaler to would also be
- 32:12another really fun one. They they're just, they're just
- 32:17great people and I think it would be a lot of fun to have
- 32:21someone very small like me wrestle.
- 32:24Someone very large like them and they've been doing shows in
- 32:26Japan and stuff lately too as well, where they killing people.
- 32:33Exactly. Just like someone spiked got
- 32:35thrown by Bam. Bam.
- 32:36That's all I right. That's all you see.
- 32:38Happen in Japan isn't actually throwing people all over the
- 32:41place. Yes very.
- 32:43Very nice person to it. Backs is really nice.
- 32:46Yeah. They're sweet heart for sure.
- 32:47They're one of my one of my faves in wrestling but seen Max
- 32:51outside of the gimmick and then seen seen them in it and I was
- 32:56like like the black guys with the like I'm out of here.
- 33:00Well the cool thing about when they have full mags, it's Yes,
- 33:03it's and it's daunting. I like I mean obviously Max's
- 33:09gear is amazing but Max also like that work in the gear is
- 33:13them. Like they put in all that work
- 33:16into their gear and being someone like from the punk
- 33:19scene. That kind of did the same thing
- 33:21with my own gear. I really respect when people
- 33:24take the time, not everyone can do.
- 33:26It's kind of a hard thing. But when people take the time to
- 33:28customize and really develop their own gear themselves, it's
- 33:31it's cool. Cool.
- 33:32Oh Pete ER so yeah, I had the pleasure of working with him at
- 33:35Camp LeapFrog. They did a match with Edith and
- 33:37they did a match with big calyx and they were both really good
- 33:40matches. Yeah.
- 33:44So who would you want to tag up with?
- 33:45If you had to say what? We're going to go arm shoulder
- 33:48to shoulder. We're going to fight the world
- 33:49together who you taking with you.
- 33:53Man, I could take any one of the people.
- 33:54I just said I'd face. I'd probably take notes.
- 33:57But yeah, so in the Wasteland I just climb.
- 34:05Well, yeah, I Really, I'm away slander.
- 34:08So yeah, yeah, so climbing up on their back and I told them once
- 34:14actually, that was like you can delete me at people.
- 34:17You just use me as a projectile towards people.
- 34:20So that would be fun. I like that.
- 34:22I like it Wolverine when they would like in the car.
- 34:24Exactly, exactly. Yeah, that's awesome.
- 34:31A great names for dropping here. And if you, if you're in the
- 34:33names, you're hearing right now. If you've never heard of them,
- 34:36dive In the independent scene and go research them because you
- 34:38are, you will not be upset at all by the time you're putting
- 34:41into watching their work is they're so talented.
- 34:43That's my favorite part about doing this.
- 34:45Podcast is talking independent wrestling with other independent
- 34:49wrestlers but also like learning something new about a new
- 34:51promotion or a wrestler. I didn't know about to go check
- 34:54out. So appreciate the fun
- 34:55conversation so far. This is yeah, so how many states
- 35:01have you worked in so far? Yeah, I get like a map and start
- 35:07coloring in where you've been. Hold on.
- 35:14I just lost count again. Since October, by the way, she's
- 35:20counting. So that's is amazing.
- 35:21Just saying, I want to say it's around 7 but it's kind of hard
- 35:27to think on the spot. I have like a little notebook
- 35:29where I write down every show that I've had.
- 35:31So, if I had the notebook right here, I'd be able to tell you
- 35:34but I yeah, probably about seven.
- 35:37Do you have a venue or a promotion that like, it's on
- 35:40your radar? That you definitely want to, you
- 35:43would love to work at are like, like, for me, I, if I were able
- 35:46to call it, just even a match at the 2300 Reno, or at the
- 35:49Hammerstein or something like, that would be amazing.
- 35:52Do you have? Do you have those bucket?
- 35:54List, venues or promotions. I don't have like like
- 36:00Hammerstein or anything like that for me personally, but I
- 36:03would love to I mean, at some point it's got to happen but H2O
- 36:07up in New Jersey, it's meant Matt Tremont promotion.
- 36:11Tim and his wife are good friends.
- 36:13And so I just like to finally get up there and wrestled
- 36:16instead of visit in the fall, if I had recommendation in the
- 36:20summertime, that is the hottest building ever been in my life.
- 36:23But it is one that building has so much charm and Charisma to it
- 36:26and Matt is a giant. Sweetheart.
- 36:29He's I love him to death. Yeah yeah so that would be cool.
- 36:37Honestly I've just been kind of going with the flow with
- 36:40everything. Like my main focus was just
- 36:43improving learning and I didn't really care where I wrestled and
- 36:46for who as long as I was having fun and like the fans were in it
- 36:52and I've just been really lucky. Like, what's been coming at me?
- 36:56So It's weird like, you know, people ask like, what's your
- 37:01Five-Year Plan, what's your, you know, who are you going to this
- 37:03this and this. And I'm like, I just want to be
- 37:07happy. So like if it's fun I'm digging
- 37:09it. Like I'm with it.
- 37:11What you've done in such a short time seven states, and all these
- 37:13promotions working every weekend.
- 37:15Like you probably have more ring time in right now, since
- 37:18October, and states, and to road miles, traveled and some people
- 37:22their entire career already. So like your attitude and the
- 37:25way you're attacking it and the way you're going about it is
- 37:27you're doing it the right way. You're having fun, you're not
- 37:29burn yourself out your, your experience in the business and,
- 37:33and I think it's awesome. Yeah, I mean, it's already Like
- 37:37such incredibly hard work that for me personally I think if I
- 37:42restrict myself those too many like I got to do this by this
- 37:45and this by that but up that it would take the fun out of it for
- 37:48me too much. So you know I've got loose
- 37:50things like maybe not a specific promotion but like I'm from
- 37:54California originally so my home state.
- 37:55So I'd love to go wrestle there at some point and I've been
- 37:57asked to like by fans and stuff. So be cool to get over on the
- 38:01west coast at some point. Yeah.
- 38:05How much does fan interaction help?
- 38:07Is that another thing I'd like to fans the realize how much
- 38:10does fan interaction help you get bookings.
- 38:11Other places, if fans are tagging you on social media and
- 38:14tagging promotions because like I said, the independent scene
- 38:17has thousands and thousands and thousands of really, really,
- 38:19really talented. People all over the country and
- 38:21even in your 40-mile bubble, sometimes it's hard to stand
- 38:24out. So if a fan is like, hey, gcw
- 38:27check out Angel Metro and more people tweet.
- 38:29That that's that helps, that gets your eye or your name out
- 38:31there. Yeah.
- 38:32I mean, I'm not a promoter, so, I Can't Tell You Why They book
- 38:36me because that's up to them for each one, right?
- 38:39But social media is definitely huge.
- 38:42I mean, honestly, the fans are the lifeblood for any wrestler
- 38:46because through their support, their social media.
- 38:50Interactions tagging new promotions that might not have
- 38:53been a been aware of a wrestler before coming out to the shows
- 38:57of course, filling seats merch because so much of our income is
- 39:03dependent on merch sales. So yeah, it all plays into it
- 39:09and I feel with things being digitized so much.
- 39:11These days, it's maybe not a necessity to have a strong
- 39:16social media presence as a wrestler but it definitely
- 39:19helps. So the fans being, you know,
- 39:23interacting and being involved and stuff, right?
- 39:26The more your name is said the more people hear about you.
- 39:29I mean, that's what it's about. So, definitely a big yeah.
- 39:33Okay, with a great question here.
- 39:34Have you been closed? Come closer or more friends with
- 39:37someone since wrestling? You didn't know before, are
- 39:39someone that seemed very different than you and you
- 39:42thought and you thought about being on the other side?
- 39:46That's a great question. I had the advantage of being a
- 39:52wrestling spouse before I became a wrestler myself.
- 39:55So, I kind of got a little bit more behind the scenes and maybe
- 40:00your average person would have But, yeah, there's definitely
- 40:04some people that I've gotten closer to.
- 40:06There's only a few people that I told especially in the business
- 40:10that I was training, when I started training to wrestle.
- 40:13And so those people have kept close to me.
- 40:15And as far as people that, what was the exact phrasing different
- 40:22on the other side? Yeah.
- 40:24Is that what it was? Yeah.
- 40:25I mean, I think so. Yeah. yeah, I suppose people can
- 40:30be different but it depends on how, you know, them and You
- 40:35know. Some people's gimmicks.
- 40:41It can be very different from who they are as a person and
- 40:44sometimes I can be a good thing. Honestly, especially if they're
- 40:46healed. Like you're saying pero and
- 40:51Mercer, you know, intimidating. But like Mercer's like the
- 40:54nicest dude in the world you know.
- 40:57So you know who else is like that too.
- 40:58That I was shocked with was Nick Gage.
- 41:01What? I met Nick for the first time at
- 41:02a show he came up to me at and I was I was I was shooting my shot
- 41:07for gcw. They were having the settlement
- 41:09series shows and H2O And a few of my friends were like, hey, I
- 41:13don't have a ride, can you drive me up?
- 41:15Because it's one of those shows where I can just show up and if
- 41:17they like me and they can use me and I'll have a opportunity to
- 41:20wrestle for gcw, but yeah. So I was like, I'll go.
- 41:24So I went up and like, hey, just put it out there.
- 41:26I'm a commentary guy. If you need me, I'll take I
- 41:29could jump in. I know a lot of people that are
- 41:31here tonight. Unfortunately, didn't pan out
- 41:33but I shot my shot, you know? But I'm standing there in a Mick
- 41:37Foley shirt and Mick Foley is Texas Chainsaw Massacre, I got
- 41:40it. Pro wrestling T's and Nick Gage
- 41:42comes up and goes. I like that.
- 41:44Fuck. And he's the full Nick.
- 41:45I like that. Fucking sure.
- 41:46Everybody ready? Like, give me a hug.
- 41:47He's like, you're a good fucking dude.
- 41:49I was like this is awesome. Like yeah, it was like, I was
- 41:53just like he came walking up. I was like oh God.
- 41:55Oh God! Oh God!
- 41:56And then he starts talking to me and I was like, what a
- 41:58sweetheart like, what a nice guy.
- 42:00Yeah, right. Yeah.
- 42:02Youyou mean people just like wow what?
- 42:04I was a that was a shock. Sometimes I say don't meet your
- 42:06Heroes but I haven't had that moment yet in the business.
- 42:10Yet I guess like maybe once both it's not even worth my time and
- 42:13everybody else I meant was absolute sweethearts and on yeah
- 42:16that's good. Yeah.
- 42:18So I mean I don't know that it's different in wrestling than it
- 42:21would be in any other profession or entertainment business, you
- 42:26know, where someone's quote-unquote famous or, you
- 42:29know, whatever. Like it's a diverse field and
- 42:34there's all types of personalities and things like
- 42:37that. But I don't know that there was
- 42:39anyone that I thought Was really.
- 42:42Super different than what I expected before having more
- 42:47interactions with them. I can't really think of any one
- 42:50off the top of my head. Yeah, so I just have one final
- 42:55one and then we can we can wrap up here.
- 42:56I don't want to keep you all day but so so the biggest I think
- 43:00the biggest takeaway so far from the conversation.
- 43:02I definitely want to dive into a little more.
- 43:04If you're willing to is how you said, you had that experience of
- 43:07being a wrestler wife, for the most part and being backstage in
- 43:10doing that. What were some of the like the
- 43:14advantages you had leading into it and maybe some of the things
- 43:17that you didn't realize, whereas difficult transitioning from the
- 43:20spouse to then getting in the ring and training and then
- 43:23taking this road and journey on your own.
- 43:28Some of the advantages were well one network, you know, a lot of
- 43:35my friends are wrestlers and we're already so that helps
- 43:40whenever I had, I mean, my trainers were amazing to.
- 43:43But if there is a for anything that I had questions about, I
- 43:49could always turn to, you know, my people and be able to ask
- 43:53them. I also think Another Advantage
- 43:57was. Kind of being smart and up to
- 44:01the business in a way. Whereas yeah it is and you know
- 44:08generally speaking like wrestling you know it's people.
- 44:14Want to see everyone succeed and do awesome and stuff like that.
- 44:18But every once in a while you'll get someone that you know may
- 44:21have ulterior motives. So being able to recognize that
- 44:26off the bat kind of saves you, a lot of headache, honestly, you
- 44:31know, especially get caught up in some, you don't even realize
- 44:33you're getting caught up in right?
- 44:35And being a woman to like you, you have to be careful.
- 44:38Like you definitely do just like you do in any entertainment,
- 44:40like I did music before I wrestled and it's the same way.
- 44:43They're like like there's gonna be difficult people in any
- 44:48group, any scenario any situation.
- 44:50So, yeah, that definitely had its Advantage being aware of
- 44:54that disadvantages. Not so much disadvantages but
- 44:59things that maybe you didn't realize were as difficult as
- 45:03leading into it as difficult. I guess I didn't realize that.
- 45:18Being in the ring would be the easiest part because it's the
- 45:21most physically difficult and mentally difficult as far as
- 45:25like processing and like understanding at a split second,
- 45:28that is where I felt the most natural.
- 45:32Once things were already started, it's more so Learning
- 45:40the not the behind the scenes, but the business aspect of it,
- 45:45the business tax aspect is can be really hard.
- 45:48You have to navigate a lot of components.
- 45:50You have to be your own, you know, like your own personal
- 45:53assistant if you don't have a Booker or manager and you got to
- 45:57make sure all your dates are lined up and your schedules real
- 45:59tight. And, you know, you have to think
- 46:02about mileage and, you know, all of that just so many different
- 46:06aspects. And then, of course, promoting
- 46:07yourself like we talked about earlier with Media like that
- 46:11takes up so much time, it really does.
- 46:14And then balance that with friends, family relationships,
- 46:18and all that. And he's the best.
- 46:39there it's you know designing something you know, doing
- 46:42graphic design or you know trying to learn something new as
- 46:45far as like in-ring stuff or, you know, whatever like emails
- 46:49that have been sitting that you have to get back to you, that
- 46:52you haven't had time to sit down and I like to take the time to
- 46:58sit down when someone writes me, whether it's a promoter a fan
- 47:01and like, actually give it my attention and be able to read
- 47:03what they're saying. So you know, I have to carve out
- 47:07time to be able to do that though you know, just glancing
- 47:09and replying like doesn't it's not the same.
- 47:12So yeah, it's very time-consuming.
- 47:16That is a that was a surprise. I gotta say so far in just a
- 47:214547 minute conversation Angel just one thing I'm gonna really
- 47:25take away from this conversation Finally, it's how you like, how
- 47:28you're like I said, since October, I actually start, if I
- 47:32was doing this for about four or five years and doing five
- 47:34podcasts at one time, weekly shows, it was a lot and and, and
- 47:38I kind of condense everything down to one show and started in
- 47:41October and been grinding at this show and this brand and
- 47:44this everything since October and every single month I was
- 47:47like, I have to hit these goals. I have to do this, I have to do
- 47:49that and just hearing saying like you were saying like I've
- 47:52accomplished all the Seven States since and since this time
- 47:55and and just kind of let It come naturally and just have fun
- 47:58doing it. I'm definitely that's going to
- 48:00be huge, takeaway for me in this conversation.
- 48:02So I appreciate you for your time.
- 48:03Have fun. I know it's hard, but if you're
- 48:05having fun, you can do anything. So keep having fun.
- 48:08Absolutely, absolutely. So, I appreciate you for that.
- 48:10And also just people, if this conversation hasn't hasn't made
- 48:15you an angel fan after today, you're absolutely insane.
- 48:18Just just like, how you're taking up the mantle and you're
- 48:21but not only, are you doing it, but you're standing on your own
- 48:23feet, but you're keeping things alive that mean a lot to you and
- 48:26for other people. And people in your circle is
- 48:29beautiful and I'm rooting for you.
- 48:30And I think the sky's the limit your work ethic, your mind,
- 48:33everything you got going on, you're in ring already in such.
- 48:36A short time is amazing and your travel and just what you're
- 48:38putting into it is only going to get better.
- 48:41Thank you so much. I appreciate it.
- 48:42Yeah. And anything in closing you want
- 48:44to put out there where can people find you working people
- 48:46support you? Yeah, absolutely.
- 48:48I mean, you can find me on any of the socials that angel Metro,
- 48:51my website is Angel Dash Metro.com, you can find my
- 48:56upcoming Dates my merch, pretty much anything revolving around
- 49:00me and wrestling you can find there.
- 49:03But other than that, yeah, just whatever.
- 49:05Your favorite social media platform is type me in.
- 49:07Find me, awesome. I think we have one lasted.
- 49:12Maybe they'll know if it's a statement are so far.
- 49:15Every interview years, I've seen him, because I've been a fan of
- 49:17the person you interview, bring the best out of people.
- 49:19Thank you, man. I appreciate that.
- 49:20I'd honestly, that's what I try to do.
- 49:22Like a good interview man, just kind of breaks those barriers
- 49:25and, and exposes people to new people.
- 49:27People like, I'm a, I grew up on Howard Stern and one of the
- 49:30biggest ones for me is like, my, like I get sucked into like the
- 49:33pop culture. Like I'm not supposed to like
- 49:35this person because they're not in the people things.
- 49:37I like I was like Miley Cyrus. I was like, I don't care what
- 49:39Miley Cyrus, he's a spoiled entitled brat who came off her
- 49:43dad's money and then I listened to the interview at her on
- 49:45Howard Stern. I'm the biggest Miley Cyrus fan
- 49:47ever. Now like I want to hang out with
- 49:48her. I want to party with her, I
- 49:49think she's awesome. I listened to her music now,
- 49:52like, and that's what the interview should do.
- 49:54They should make you fall in love with the guests at their
- 49:55interviewing and Thank you, I appreciate that.
- 49:58Because if I'm if I'm getting even a tenth of that, that means
- 50:00the world. But I'm also very fortunate to
- 50:03have an eye of people who I know are good minded people and
- 50:06that's the people I want to have conversations with.
- 50:08So, and and having that conversation you do as a ssw,
- 50:11you, I said you were a bright spot of the locker room and I've
- 50:14learned more about you even now that I knew then I didn't know
- 50:17about the other stuff, I'm going to be honest.
- 50:19So though hearing that was very very it was very powerful for
- 50:22me. And like I said, thank you for
- 50:24your time and enjoy your, enjoy your day.
- 50:27I know you're very busy, you're finally not on the road and
- 50:29you're at your home. So, enjoy yourself people,
