- 0:27Hey, everybody. Good morning from the chicken
- 0:30coop. So today we're talking about
- 0:33listening to your pain because first and foremost, when you
- 0:37have an emotion, you've heard me say this a bazillion times.
- 0:40Emotions are supposed to be giving us information, very much
- 0:44like a rock in your shoe causes you to have, you know, a
- 0:47situation and you have to stop, pause and think about it.
- 0:51So. Listening to the pain is super
- 0:53important, whether it's physical or it's emotional.
- 0:56It's trying to communicate something to you.
- 0:58And you know, it's funny enough that my son is in the truck the
- 1:02other day and I'm driving him to work and he says to me, mind
- 1:06you, he's 14, but you would think, you know, OK, he's got
- 1:10this, you know, awareness going on.
- 1:12But we all learn to tolerate things.
- 1:14So he says to me, this boot is really hurting my foot.
- 1:17And I said. Well, did your foot hurt when
- 1:20you don't have the boot boot on? And he said, no, it's just it's
- 1:24there's something weird about it.
- 1:25And I said, well, it's weird about it.
- 1:27What do you mean? He goes, I don't know.
- 1:28It's just a strange thing. It's like it's rubbing me.
- 1:30And I said, well, did you look inside the boot to see if
- 1:32something was in there? And he's like, I stuck my hand
- 1:35in but I couldn't feel anything And I said, OK, well take your
- 1:38boot off now and try it again because we're on our way.
- 1:40We're dropping him off. So he actually.
- 1:43Stops and he takes the boot off and he puts his hand and he
- 1:47goes, oh, there's a bump underneath the insert.
- 1:51I said we'll pull the insert out.
- 1:53So he pulls the insert out and then he starts laughing and he
- 1:56tips the boot over in my truck and pours out what appears to be
- 2:01about 1/2 a cup of sand and rock.
- 2:05Now he works in a mulch market and they sell rock and mulch and
- 2:08all kinds of things. So it's just a bunch of crap,
- 2:10but it's underneath his. Insert And he says, wow, I can't
- 2:16believe that was all in there. And I'm just looking at him and
- 2:19I'm like, do you understand how uncomfortable that must have
- 2:22been? That you've just ignored it?
- 2:24And he's like, well, I just felt like, you know, if it's one of
- 2:28those things, you just suck it up.
- 2:30And it really got me thinking about putting it into the
- 2:33podcast, because this is what we all do when we have these things
- 2:37show up. We just.
- 2:38Let them irritate us. We let them become part of what
- 2:42we tolerate and we suck it up and we don't stop and pause and
- 2:45say, wait, is there something more here Now he had a simple
- 2:49solution. All he had to do was pull the
- 2:51insert out, dump the sand out. But where does this come in to
- 2:54us emotionally? Like we can see if solve that
- 2:57quickly physically, but when these emotions are showing up
- 3:00and they're talking to you. And you're not looking deeper.
- 3:04You're not pulling the insert out.
- 3:06You're not saying OK, what are you trying to teach me?
- 3:08What am I supposed to be learning?
- 3:10You don't need to understand where it all started, but you
- 3:15need to understand. What it's trying to communicate
- 3:18now in this moment, so you stop tolerating the sand that's under
- 3:22the insert because that will drive you crazy and it will keep
- 3:25rubbing. And we know what happens when
- 3:26there's a rub. You get the irritation, you get
- 3:29the problem, and it just keeps going and going and going.
- 3:33So what's so important is to say, hey, wait, I've got to
- 3:36pause here, I've got to hit the button and I've got to sit down
- 3:39and write out. What do I think this is trying
- 3:42to teach me? What can I learn from this?
- 3:44What are the things that I feel are really present so that I can
- 3:49look at it and say this is no longer working for me.
- 3:53It's just a a matter of awareness.
- 3:56It's a matter of stopping and saying OK, now why is this super
- 4:00important end of year stuff, right?
- 4:03You want to make sure you don't take the things you're
- 4:05tolerating with you further on. You want to be able to say OK.
- 4:10Nope, I'm not doing that. I'm going to put myself in a
- 4:12much better position and go into the new year without any of
- 4:16that. So you're you're in essence
- 4:21cleaning house again coming back to that.
- 4:23But you've got to start to listen to the pain.
- 4:26You've got to listen to, you know what it's saying, ignoring
- 4:30never works. So homework Simon.
- 4:34Actually sit down and think about what are the things?
- 4:37That you're being told that you're not listening to where
- 4:40are these things showing up regularly, so you understand,
- 4:44like, you know, if you have something that's a frustration
- 4:48and the pain keeps showing up, like the sand in the boot,
- 4:51there's a reason and it's telling you something.
- 4:55So sit down, write it all out, put it on a piece of paper and
- 4:58then you can actually, once you see it on paper, there's
- 5:01something magical that happens because you can identify that.
- 5:05Is this really ridiculous or is this something I want to pay
- 5:08attention to? And most of the time when you
- 5:10see it on the paper you can say this is this is easy, I can fix
- 5:15this or you can say I can see a path to getting help for this.
- 5:19I can see a path to going and talking to somebody about
- 5:22something. I can see a path, you know,
- 5:24Earlier in the year I had a huge pain around how my business
- 5:28limits me in certain areas of reaching more people because of
- 5:32what I do one-on-one, so. You know what?
- 5:36I hired a different team of people to help me figure it out
- 5:39because it was a blind spot for me.
- 5:41So all those little things are being taken care of and things.
- 5:47When you when you're able to start to do it and help it out,
- 5:50and unfortunately for me, I'm able to do that, I can get some
- 5:53people to help me, but most of us have people around us that do
- 5:56want to help us, and most of us can find people that will help
- 6:00us even if we don't know people. So think about first, what do
- 6:06you, what do you need to listen to from your pain?
- 6:08That's the first point. Write it all down and then you
- 6:12can start to say, OK, what can I do?
- 6:15To take this in a different direction.
- 6:16But the first thing is identifying the pain.
- 6:19OK, my friends, I'll see you tomorrow.
- 6:21I hope you have a blessed day. Bye.
