In Mark 9, in the passage this text is part of, the disciples are seen 1) disputing over which of them will be the greatest, and 2) interfering with the ministry of another unnamed believer because he wasn't part of their group. Jesus, using the imagery of a child and the warning of a millstone, shows that the disciples' thinking and priorities need to be straightened out.
