- 0:00The conference championship games, we had one pretty bad
- 0:02game, was a blowout, and then we had one pretty epic game between
- 0:05the Chiefs and the Bills. I think the big story that came
- 0:09out of it for me was all of the people who still really think,
- 0:13or at least say they think that it's fixed in favor of the
- 0:16Chiefs. And Adam Schefter of all people
- 0:18kind of poured. Did you see this kind of poured
- 0:20fuel on the fire with a tweet on Sunday morning before the games
- 0:24where he talked about the NF LS considering reviewing, allowing
- 0:28for review in the future, some of these late hits on
- 0:30quarterbacks that the Chiefs have benefited from.
- 0:32And he talked about how many of those have gone in the Chiefs
- 0:35favor. And it just, it, I, I know I
- 0:37don't think he necessarily meant it like this, but I, I just find
- 0:40it so laughable that there are people who actually believe that
- 0:43this, what, $15 billion industry with now with legalized
- 0:48gambling, that the NFL would somehow risk all of that not to,
- 0:53not to mention the lawsuits they would face in order to fix the
- 0:56sport to let the Chiefs win. Like, I can't believe that
- 1:00people really think this is happening, but they do.
- 1:03This is the explanation. So my son Sebastian came home
- 1:08and I was like, how was school? And he was like, dad, All my
- 1:10friends say that the Chiefs cheated and that it's scripted
- 1:15and the NFL wants them to win. And I said, your friends are
- 1:18morons. And I gave him the exact same
- 1:21explanation that you just did, which is that the idea that you
- 1:25would risk a $15 billion a year industry because you like
- 1:29Patrick Mahomes is preposterous. Like it's just so far gone.
- 1:36But it just it, it feeds into because here's the thing.
- 1:40And this is what happens is like the information goes out.
- 1:44And when I say information, I mean like a tweet goes out that
- 1:47the that the NFL is ringing in for the Chiefs and some people
- 1:50believe it, but I also believe there's a large swath of people
- 1:53who are like, well, this is hilarious and ridiculous.
- 1:56And I'm just going to keep doing it to watch the craziness ensue.
- 2:00And then it spirals into a thing like that's what happens.
- 2:04I. Think you're right?
- 2:05And if you watch the game, there were, and that this most recent
- 2:09game, which by the way, credit to the Bills, the Bills played a
- 2:12great game, Josh Allen played a great game.
- 2:13It's just the Chiefs are a little bit better.
- 2:15And that's what happens to so many teams against them.
- 2:17They just, they've won what is it now?
- 2:1917 consecutive 1 score games, which is absolutely absurd.
- 2:23But there were really 2 plays in this game that that people
- 2:26pointed to. One of them was in, I think in
- 2:28the first half when the Chiefs threw up that pass to Savior
- 2:32Worthy that initially looked like it was intercepted, but
- 2:35then it looked like Worthy came down with it.
- 2:36When that was a 5050 play, I actually thought they got it
- 2:39right. I thought.
- 2:40I thought initially the Bills defender had more of the ball,
- 2:43but by the time they got to the ground, I thought it was 5050
- 2:46and 5050 go. The tie goes to the.
- 2:48Receiver You know what's funny about that is I thought it was
- 2:50an incomplete pass. It could have.
- 2:53Been because the ball hit the ground.
- 2:54Incomplete pass, The ball hit the ground there, yeah.
- 2:57So I think it was a very close call, but there was a penalty on
- 3:01that play. So the Chiefs would have gotten
- 3:03a first down regardless. There was a penalty against the
- 3:07Bills. They declined.
- 3:08Then on the 4th down right script the penalty.
- 3:11Then on the fourth and one that Buffalo had, which was early in
- 3:15the fourth quarter, where the line judge on each side, they
- 3:19ran in with different spots and they ultimately on replay gave
- 3:24confirm the spot was just short of the first down.
- 3:27I think the fact that both of those guys standing on the
- 3:29sideline saw it differently. One saw it pass the stick, one
- 3:32saw it short shows you how freaking close that was.
- 3:36And on replay, I couldn't tell exactly where the ball was.
- 3:39So I don't have a huge that's the NFL man.
- 3:41If you them's the brakes. My only comment.
- 3:44Calls and plays happen all the time.
- 3:46On this is we talked about the $15 billion a year industry, not
- 3:50including the gambling. You have to understand that
- 3:54these games like people's livelihoods are at stake.
- 3:57Coaches will be fired, people are going to get cut.
- 4:01They're going to move on. It it's, you know, I'm saying
- 4:05like real life families, because the Bills didn't win this game
- 4:08are probably going to have to move somewhere else.
- 4:10And it like that's the nature of the business.
- 4:14So we have all this money and these people's lives at stake.
- 4:16And what we basically have is two older overweight men viewing
- 4:22a play on opposite sidelines, walking it.
- 4:25My favorite part is they're like a yard apart.
- 4:28And then like, who decides where the ball is?
- 4:31And do they like, get together and like, hey, Fred, I got this
- 4:34one. Like I saw it.
- 4:36He's like, Bob, I'm telling you, I got this one.
- 4:39And then they stand there. We're deciding all of these
- 4:42things because 2 old men are. They got their foot in different
- 4:48spots. It is wild.
- 4:51Like dude, that's also the cool part about it.
- 4:53But when you think about it on that level, I just think that's
- 4:55pretty neat. Look, there's always the human
- 4:58element in these games, and the bottom line is both these teams
- 5:01had chances to win the game in the fourth quarter and the
- 5:03Chiefs made a few more plays and we every, we spend so much time
- 5:07talking about Mahomes and Reed and Kelsey, and they're all
- 5:10great. I don't think we need to.
- 5:11They're all. But how about how about Steve
- 5:13Spagnolo? What a game he called that call
- 5:16on 4th down that the corner blitz beautifully disguised.
- 5:19But to me, what they did so well and it it it was that fourth and
- 5:22one play was just an example. They made all of those third and
- 5:27one or two or fourth or one or two that Buffalo had throughout
- 5:31the game. They made them really hard.
- 5:34Buffalo still converted some of them, but in a lot of games and
- 5:37they'll get a real test against the Eagles with the tush push.
- 5:40When it gets to third and one or fourth and one and teams have a
- 5:43good running quarterback like Jalen Erdger for Josh Allen,
- 5:46it's essentially automatic that they're going to get it.
- 5:49And the Chiefs did not make it automatic.
- 5:51The Chiefs did a great job on those third and 4th and one or
- 5:55two. Then I I was really impressed by
- 5:58that because it's so hard to stop.
- 6:00I mean, almost nobody has stopped Philadelphia on the
- 6:03brotherly shove all year. So that'll be one kind of sneaky
- 6:06thing to watch is will Kansas City be able to slow that down?
- 6:10And Barkley also. But we could talk more about the
- 6:13Super Bowl. The part of that game that I
- 6:14really want to talk about is Josh Allen, because I think
- 6:18after the game I saw the press conference and like Josh Allen
- 6:24would be Patrick Mahomes if Patrick Mahomes did not exist.
- 6:28So I think the comparison that a lot of people are making, or at
- 6:31least that I have heard, has been to like Peyton Manning.
- 6:34Like Mahomes is Peyton Manning and Josh Allen is, I'm sorry,
- 6:39Josh Allen is Peyton Manning and Pat Mahomes is Tom Brady.
- 6:42Right? But the guy that Josh Allen
- 6:45reminds me of as a player, I think he plays a lot like Ben
- 6:48Roethlisberger when he was younger, before he was an old
- 6:51statue. But the guy that Allen had made
- 6:54me think of that in his press conference was John Elway.
- 6:58Because if you remember John Elway in the 80s, particularly
- 7:03the late 80s with the Broncos, the Broncos had very good teams.
- 7:06And John Elway carried those teams on his back.
- 7:10And then they would get to the Super Bowl and they would lose
- 7:13to Joe Montana or they would get to the Super Bowl and they would
- 7:16lose. And Elway didn't really get his
- 7:20success until he was like much, much older.
- 7:23And I just kind of feel like that's the path that Josh Allen
- 7:27is on. Like, no one disputes that Josh
- 7:30Allen is a phenomenal player. I've also heard the comparison
- 7:33to like, Dan Marino just in terms of like a great
- 7:36quarterback. Like everyone knows this guy is
- 7:39the man, but he just hasn't won a Super Bowl.
- 7:44I after that game, I just thought the whole time Josh
- 7:48Allen played a great game, that pass that he made on that blitz
- 7:52that you were describing to Kincaid when he dropped it.
- 7:56And look, people make mistakes like it happens.
- 7:58It's not Kincaid's fault they lost.
- 8:00It's a combination of things. But like, that play that Josh
- 8:03Allen made was incredible. He's backpedaling 12 yards,
- 8:07people are coming at him trying to murder him, and he still
- 8:11finds an open receiver downfield.
- 8:13It's insane how good Josh Allen is.
- 8:16And it's not that his team is bad.
- 8:19It's that Patrick Mahomes is alive.
- 8:23That's the only thing standing between him and greatness.
- 8:26I mean, look, Patrick Mahomes already, you could argue and I
- 8:29he he might be, if he retired today, the second best
- 8:31quarterback of all time. Here are his seven He's only
- 8:34been a starter for seven years. 17 and three.
- 8:36Results. Yeah. 17 and three in the
- 8:39playoff. Well, now it's 18, right?
- 8:40No, it's 17 or 18. I lost track.
- 8:42Go ahead. Sorry, he is for seven years.
- 8:45Here are the final results. AFC Championship loss, one Super
- 8:49Bowl, lost the Super Bowl, AFC Championship loss one Super Bowl
- 8:531 Super Bowl and now in the Super Bowl.
- 8:55That is absolutely unbelievable. And how about this?
- 9:01Patrick Holmes is great, but Andy Reid should get a lot of
- 9:03credit, too. Go ahead.
- 9:05Absolutely, The AP tweeted this out.
- 9:07Mahomes has trailed in the fourth quarter in nine of those
- 9:10playoff games. Nine of them he's come back to
- 9:13win 6, and in the three he lost at two of those he forced
- 9:19overtime in the fourth quarter of those games.
- 9:23Fourth quarter to OT, when he's down, he has a rating of 132
- 9:29with five touchdowns, 1 touchdown run and he led scores
- 9:33on 13 of 14 drives. That is insane.
- 9:38It's not. He's essentially perfect when
- 9:41his team is behind in the fourth quarter, in overtime, in a not
- 9:45in a two or three-game sample. In a nine game sample spanning 7
- 9:50years, that is insane. I know it's hard to explain,
- 9:55like you did a great job of pointing out the stats and just
- 9:57how insane they are. But I think the greatest credit
- 10:01you can give Patrick Mahomes is that early on he had Tyreek
- 10:04Hill. You know, he had some weapons.
- 10:06The Chiefs were very dynamic. But like, right now, dude, he
- 10:09has the corpse of DeAndre Hopkins and Juju Smith Schuster.
- 10:16Right. And Kelsey, who's not quite, no.
- 10:18Kelsey's fine and I actually I really like Kareem Hunt and they
- 10:23have a good. Worthy's pretty good.
- 10:25Yeah, worthy's fast, but. Young, but young and not not.
- 10:29But what I'm saying is not we're not he doesn't have Jerry Rice
- 10:31and Randy Moss or TO out there buddy, like he doesn't have
- 10:35these people. So I'm just saying I'm not
- 10:38slandering. DeAndre Hopkins is amazing.
- 10:41Not anymore. Yeah, Juju Smith Schuster was
- 10:44great when he was with the Steelers.
- 10:46But like for them to accomplish what they've accomplished during
- 10:49the salary cap area, I think two people get, well, there should
- 10:54be 3 it. Number one is Patrick Mahomes
- 10:56because he actually has to play the games, but #2 is certainly
- 10:59Andy Reid. I mean, what a coaching job he
- 11:02has done and #3 is Spagnola like Spags?
- 11:06Has been. Tremendous.
- 11:08Like it's not hyperbole to say if they win this is the greatest
- 11:11run in the history. It's the greatest dynasty in the
- 11:13history of NFL football. It would be three straight Super
- 11:17Bowls. It would be 4 champions years in
- 11:20six years, six years, six years plus 1/5 another one where they
- 11:24appeared in the that's, that's amazing.
- 11:26And I'm unprecedented. By the way, one last stat, I saw
- 11:29a Schefter point that tweeted this out talking about how good
- 11:32Josh Allen is and how sad it is in some ways.
- 11:35He and Mahomes have faced each other nine times.
- 11:40Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs have scored 245 points in those
- 11:44nine games. Josh Allen and the Bills have
- 11:46scored 240. So they've played nine times and
- 11:49a total spread of five points. But of course, in the biggest
- 11:53ones in the playoffs, Mahomes finds a way.
