- 0:24Speaker 1: It is time to leave your worries outside and laugh
- 0:29Speaker 1: with us inside the treehouse. I'm Dan O'Malley along with
- 0:33Speaker 1: Trey Trenholm and Jerry Caldwell. Today is Fred Day, April fourth,
- 0:40Speaker 1: twenty twenty five. Congratulations, you have made it to the
- 0:44Speaker 1: end of the week. I'm happy about that. However, there
- 0:52Speaker 1: is something looming here inside the treehouse that we need
- 0:56Speaker 1: to discuss. And take a deep breath because this is
- 1:02Speaker 1: going to be very difficult for me. Trey, Jerry, do
- 1:14Speaker 1: you know the most dangerous county in Texas for a broadcaster?
- 1:18Speaker 1: It's Hunt County, northeast of Dallas. Hunt County is the
- 1:24Speaker 1: most dangerous county in Texas for a broadcaster. Not because
- 1:27Speaker 1: of crime or anything actually dangerous. It's because it's impossible
- 1:33Speaker 1: to say Hunt County so many times that you don't
- 1:37Speaker 1: accidentally switch the C in County to replace the H
- 1:40Speaker 1: in Hunt. Think about what that switcheroo might do when
- 1:50Speaker 1: it said out loud. Look, just saying that sentence out
- 1:54Speaker 1: loud finds me on the precipice of disaster because it's
- 1:57Speaker 1: a major FCC infraction to say that word on the
- 2:02Speaker 1: public airwaves. Trey uses it all the time in his
- 2:05Speaker 1: personal life, but even he knows not to say it
- 2:08Speaker 1: on the air. Now, knowing all of that, this may
- 2:12Speaker 1: be the most challenging read of my entire career. Are
- 2:16Speaker 1: you ready?
- 2:17Speaker 2: Oh yeah, here we go.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Twenty one people were arrested at an active cockfight in
- 2:24Speaker 1: Hunt County. I say again, for the sake of sensationalism,
- 2:28Speaker 1: that twenty one people were arrested at a cockfight in
- 2:32Speaker 1: Hunt County. I did it. I didn't say the word yes. Ah. Now,
- 2:40Speaker 1: keep in mind, I'll probably say it some other time
- 2:43Speaker 1: in here. I have done that, by the way, I've
- 2:46Speaker 1: done that at least twice on two different stations. I
- 2:51Speaker 1: did it once on k l L. I was trying
- 2:56Speaker 1: to remember the call. I was trying to remember the
- 2:57Speaker 1: call letters because they changed so many times. I didn't
- 2:59Speaker 1: want k l L I Live one oh five three,
- 3:02Speaker 1: which was CBS Radio at the time. I believe it
- 3:06Speaker 1: was during a weather report and there was sort of
- 3:10Speaker 1: that was at the Eagle. Oh okay, oh, you're right. Yes,
- 3:14Speaker 1: this time, I'm even giving a weather warning and I
- 3:17Speaker 1: called Hunt County County that was a weather alert.
- 3:22Speaker 3: And we didn't pick it, and none of us picked
- 3:24Speaker 3: it up.
- 3:25Speaker 1: That's how natural it sounds. Yeah, I mean it really does.
- 3:30Speaker 1: When you say Hunt County and you just say it
- 3:32Speaker 1: repeatedly in a very relaxed setting, like the treehouse is.
- 3:37Speaker 1: On occasion, it's gonna you're gonna slip up and it's
- 3:39Speaker 1: gonna be County. So yeah, the weather alert at the Eagle,
- 3:45Speaker 1: that was when I accidentally called Hunt County. The other thing?
- 3:50Speaker 1: What was it then? When we were at CBS Radio
- 3:53Speaker 1: at Live one O five three? Do you remember that
- 3:55Speaker 1: screw up?
- 3:55Speaker 4: Like?
- 3:55Speaker 1: How did I get that switched up?
- 3:58Speaker 3: Just? I think it was just a story with Hunt
- 4:03Speaker 3: County in it.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Okay, Well, I go back to my original point, which
- 4:08Speaker 1: is there has never been a more dangerous news article
- 4:11Speaker 1: to share on the radio than twenty one people arrested
- 4:16Speaker 1: at a cock fight in Hunt County. Every time I
- 4:20Speaker 1: say it, I could feel it bubbling up inside of me.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Or you're aware of it. The harder it is, too, right?
- 4:28Speaker 1: Oh way, wait, way harder, Thank you, Jim. There's two
- 4:33Speaker 1: hard seas in that sentence. And I know I know you, Trey.
- 4:39Speaker 1: You sent that story on purpose to me, not because
- 4:43Speaker 1: of its newsworthiness, but because you wanted to see if
- 4:46Speaker 1: I would screw up and not call it Hunt County.
- 4:50Speaker 3: I of you're absolutely correct.
- 4:53Speaker 5: I know you.
- 4:54Speaker 1: I've known you for twenty years. I know I know
- 4:56Speaker 1: what your motives are.
- 5:00Speaker 3: Just the cock fighting in Hunt County.
- 5:04Speaker 1: See, even you're doing it right there. The only thing
- 5:06Speaker 1: you can do to try to avoid it is to
- 5:09Speaker 1: overenunciate the letters that you're trying not to switch, because
- 5:14Speaker 1: you're trying not to switch the CU in County in
- 5:20Speaker 1: front of the hunt of Hunt. In order to do that,
- 5:24Speaker 1: you've got to over emphossize those sounds. So you have
- 5:29Speaker 1: to say I almost said I almost said it right there.
- 5:36Speaker 1: You have to say Hunt County. You can't just say
- 5:40Speaker 1: Hunt County because then you're like that. That's where the
- 5:43Speaker 1: slip up occurs. If you get too relaxed that H
- 5:47Speaker 1: and the C will switch and you've said something very
- 5:50Speaker 1: very bad. Now, keep in mind the podcast version of
- 5:53Speaker 1: this show. You can say that all day. It doesn't matter,
- 5:56Speaker 1: but we try to radio at it the entirety of
- 5:59Speaker 1: the show so we don't have to go back and
- 6:01Speaker 1: bleep unnecessarily. I would just like to pat myself on
- 6:05Speaker 1: the back here by saying it has been six minutes
- 6:08Speaker 1: and I have said Hunt County numerous times. I have
- 6:13Speaker 1: said twenty one people arrested at a cockfight in Hunt
- 6:17Speaker 1: County numerous times, and I have yet to screw it up.
- 6:21Speaker 3: Yay me.
- 6:23Speaker 1: If I accomplish nothing else today, I will have not
- 6:27Speaker 1: said the bad word version of Hunt County. And I
- 6:32Speaker 1: also made my bed. So look at me go here
- 6:34Speaker 1: you go, gold stars all around. Can't hold me down?
- 6:38Speaker 1: Thank you, Jared, Yes we do. That is something the
- 6:40Speaker 1: Treehouse is missing. We need a gold star chart in here.
- 6:43Speaker 1: And I'm first.

- 8:38Speaker 1: Defender Outdoors. This is the Treehouse Show. I'm Daniel Maley.
- 8:43Speaker 1: He is Trede Trendholm. That is Jerry Caldwell and today
- 8:48Speaker 1: is Friday, April fourth, twenty twenty five. It is a
- 8:53Speaker 1: Texas Legislature year. They only convene every two years, but
- 9:00Speaker 1: it always feels like they're making news. But when they convene,
- 9:03Speaker 1: that's when the news really starts hitting All the things
- 9:07Speaker 1: that they're working on in an attempt to make the
- 9:10Speaker 1: state of Texas a better place for us all unless
- 9:14Speaker 1: you're poor. Because apparently being poor isn't punishment enough. So
- 9:18Speaker 1: the Texas Senate has already passed a bill that would
- 9:21Speaker 1: ban food stamp recipients from buying things like soda chips
- 9:27Speaker 1: and candy. Now, I would like to point out that
- 9:31Speaker 1: years ago I was on board with this kind of
- 9:33Speaker 1: a thing. It's like, no, I shouldn't. I shouldn't have
- 9:36Speaker 1: to pay for that type of stuff with my tax dollars.
- 9:39Speaker 1: But as I've gotten older, I've gotten a little more empathetic.
- 9:43Speaker 1: But let me give you a little more insight into this.
- 9:46Speaker 1: The Texas Senate passed a bill that would ban snap
- 9:49Speaker 1: food recipients from buying things like soda chips and candy.
- 9:53Speaker 1: The bill now heads to the Texas House for consideration. Now,
- 9:58Speaker 1: there are two side to this story. One side is
- 10:03Speaker 1: I don't feel like my tax dollars should be spent
- 10:06Speaker 1: on someone buying soda chips and candy. That's not necessary
- 10:09Speaker 1: to live. They shouldn't. My money shouldn't go towards that.
- 10:14Speaker 1: The other side of that would be, well, I'm poor,
- 10:20Speaker 1: am I not allowed to have something that tastes good. Trey,
- 10:24Speaker 1: where do you fall on this? You are a resident
- 10:26Speaker 1: conservative inside the treehouse, I'm a I'm a well known
- 10:29Speaker 1: fence writer. So I look at both sides and and
- 10:33Speaker 1: I'll decide later.
- 10:35Speaker 3: I don't. My deal isn't about the tax dollar is
- 10:39Speaker 3: so much. Is just the the growing rate of obesity
- 10:46Speaker 3: and and things like that. The health concerns are to
- 10:52Speaker 3: me more a better reason why to do this. But
- 10:58Speaker 3: I mean, it's we need sweeping changes across the board,
- 11:02Speaker 3: not just you know. And and I'm with you, I don't.
- 11:05Speaker 3: I hate the fact that you feel like you're penalizing
- 11:07Speaker 3: uh poor people.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Yeah, and that and that that's what it feels like.
- 11:11Speaker 1: And I think that at the core, that's why a
- 11:13Speaker 1: lot of people get on it. I think they see
- 11:15Speaker 1: a bill like this and say, I don't want my
- 11:18Speaker 1: tax dollars being spent on junk food because that's going
- 11:22Speaker 1: to make you even more unhealthy. And also I think
- 11:28Speaker 1: there is an aspect to it that people say I
- 11:30Speaker 1: don't want my tax dollars being spent on junk food
- 11:35Speaker 1: because hang on, just lost my train of thought. Hang On,
- 11:42Speaker 1: I lost it. I'll get it dollars, junk food, tax dollars,
- 11:46Speaker 1: junk food.
- 11:47Speaker 3: Hang on, my brain has spent on It.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Is a broken garbage heap on fire. You ever seen
- 11:56Speaker 1: you ever seen a pile of tires on fire. That's
- 11:58Speaker 1: what my brain feels like right now, especially because I
- 12:02Speaker 1: had a really solid point and it was for the
- 12:03Speaker 1: other side, and now I've ruined it. Let me read
- 12:07Speaker 1: more story. Maybe I'll figure it out.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Uh.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Texas Senator Mas Middleston from Galveston is the author of
- 12:13Speaker 1: the junk food crackdown. He says, the goal is not
- 12:16Speaker 1: to punish the poor. Okay, now I remember what it is.
- 12:19Speaker 4: Uh.
- 12:19Speaker 1: One aspect of not wanting your tax dollars being spent
- 12:23Speaker 1: on junk food, is I lost it again? Health, No,
- 12:32Speaker 1: there's another There was another tire flare up somewhere back
- 12:35Speaker 1: in here. Hang on, all right, man, go back to
- 12:38Speaker 1: reading the story. It'll come back to me.
- 12:40Speaker 2: Uh.
- 12:40Speaker 1: He says. The goal of the bill is not to
- 12:43Speaker 1: punish the poor. He says, items, it's a deterrence. That's
- 12:47Speaker 1: what it is. I don't want my tax dollars being
- 12:50Speaker 1: spent on this junk food, so therefore it's an incentive
- 12:54Speaker 1: for you to get off of the food stamp program.
- 12:56Speaker 1: You want good you want good food, stop, you know,
- 12:59Speaker 1: go out and get a job. I think that's the
- 13:01Speaker 1: mentality a lot of people have that are in support
- 13:03Speaker 1: of that bill. But out the fire, no wa and
- 13:06Speaker 1: go back to normal stuff. Anyway, The author of the
- 13:09Speaker 1: bill says the goal is not to punish the poor.
- 13:11Speaker 1: He says items like soda, energy drinks, candy, potato chips,
- 13:14Speaker 1: corn chips, cookies, they don't just lack nutritional value, they
- 13:17Speaker 1: are bad for you. And another Senator, Nathan Johnson, says
- 13:22Speaker 1: it's really hard for people to make good health decisions
- 13:25Speaker 1: when all they've seen their whole lives is junk food.
- 13:28Speaker 1: So I'm not entirely sure then, how this is going
- 13:32Speaker 1: to help other than them telling you, if you're on
- 13:37Speaker 1: food stamps, we're going to force you to make better
- 13:40Speaker 1: food options. The problem with that is this, if you
- 13:46Speaker 1: want to have a law in place that actually helps
- 13:49Speaker 1: people make better health related decisions, then you need to
- 13:53Speaker 1: make health food cheaper. You need to make healthy food
- 13:58Speaker 1: cheaper than the soda, the chip, the candy, and the crap.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Because unless you can do that, those snap benefits don't
- 14:04Speaker 1: go as far ask anyone that's tried to buy grilled chicken,
- 14:09Speaker 1: that's just tried to buy chicken breast. It's more expensive
- 14:13Speaker 1: than the other cuts of chicken, all these other just
- 14:18Speaker 1: go shopping train those this. You and I've been trying
- 14:20Speaker 1: to eat healthy for years. It's more expensive to eat
- 14:23Speaker 1: health So if you want people on food stamps to
- 14:27Speaker 1: make better decisions, then you need to find a way
- 14:31Speaker 1: to make the healthy stuff cheaper for all of us.
- 14:33Speaker 1: That's my soapbox for the day.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Also, I would like to pose if there is an
- 14:39Speaker 2: issue with people's diets, then I would like to pose
- 14:43Speaker 2: that that's more of an education issue, and you cannot
- 14:46Speaker 2: educate them by denying them the ability eats. I'm a hedonist,
- 14:51Speaker 2: so you need to be able to have potato chips
- 14:55Speaker 2: with your sandwich. There's nothing wrong with drinking the occasional soda.
- 14:58Speaker 2: We all know that there's nothing wrong with, you know,
- 15:02Speaker 2: consuming these things moderately. If there's a problem, it needs
- 15:06Speaker 2: to be addressed somewhere else.
- 15:08Speaker 1: It's not just the poor people that need to make
- 15:10Speaker 1: better food choices. It's our entire society needs to make
- 15:14Speaker 1: better choices.
- 15:15Speaker 3: Yeah, you're you're preaching moderation to a society that does
- 15:18Speaker 3: not know that. You know, we are absolutely make it bigger,
- 15:22Speaker 3: make it, you know, faster, make it stronger.
- 15:25Speaker 1: And honestly, putting potato chips on your sandwiches is the
- 15:28Speaker 1: epitome of that. It's gluttonous and delicious.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Mm hm.
- 15:34Speaker 1: We know what's bad, but god damn does it taste good.
- 15:41Speaker 3: It sucks. But hopefully you're right. It is an education issue.
- 15:47Speaker 3: But at a certain point you've got to stop the
- 15:49Speaker 3: cycle because it is something people see that they don't
- 15:56Speaker 3: know better, and so they just keep doing it. So
- 15:58Speaker 3: maybe this is the way to stop the cycle of it.
- 16:01Speaker 1: Is that is stop the cycle? Is that what that
- 16:03Speaker 1: crazy lady from the infomercial used to say years ago,
- 16:06Speaker 1: the one with the short spiky.
- 16:07Speaker 3: Hair, Susan powder stuff insanity stopped the insanity?
- 16:12Speaker 1: Oh can we bring her back for the education part
- 16:16Speaker 1: of this?
- 16:17Speaker 3: I think she's dead?
- 16:19Speaker 1: Did she did? She choke on a potato chip? But
- 16:25Speaker 1: a nice stopped the insanity movement? You know that that
- 16:28Speaker 1: could that could be useful. H meals on wheels didn't stick.
- 16:34Speaker 1: You can only sweat to the oldies for so long.
- 16:43Speaker 5: You're in the treehouse.

- 17:37Speaker 1: I'm Daniel Mally along with Trey Trentholm and Jerry Caldwell.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Today is Friday, April fourth, twoenty twenty five. Do you
- 17:47Speaker 1: guys know the cheeky smuggler? I'm sorry, what the cheeky smuggler?
- 17:54Speaker 3: I do not.
- 17:57Speaker 1: He might be loosely related to the Muffin Man, but
- 18:01Speaker 1: a twenty six year old man was arrested on Sunday
- 18:06Speaker 1: for allegedly trying to smuggle methamphetamine across the Texas Messic
- 18:12Speaker 1: the Texas Mexico border. US Customs and Border Protection is
- 18:16Speaker 1: calling the suspect the cheeky smuggler after finding the drugs
- 18:20Speaker 1: inside his buttocks at the Isleta International Crossing in El Paso.
- 18:27Speaker 1: This is where being a law enforcement officer pays off,
- 18:30Speaker 1: is when you get to name certain criminals and coming
- 18:35Speaker 1: up with a doozy like the cheeky smuggler because someone's
- 18:38Speaker 1: smuggling methan there butt. Well, that's a fine day as
- 18:42Speaker 1: a police officer.
- 18:43Speaker 3: Okay, so is this like like implanted in like a
- 18:51Speaker 3: fake butt? Are we talking in the butt or like
- 18:54Speaker 3: up just hot dog?
- 18:57Speaker 1: So the story does not go into detail, tray, but
- 19:07Speaker 1: but there are clues. Okay, here is clue number one.
- 19:16Speaker 5: One.
- 19:16Speaker 1: Second, here's clue number one. Okay, the shape, Oh, go ahead, tray.
- 19:30Speaker 3: Yeah, that's I think that was definitely up.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't believe that was sandwiched in between the
- 19:39Speaker 1: two buns like a hot dog. This was more corn
- 19:43Speaker 1: dog style. Yeah, that's The packaging on the meth is
- 19:54Speaker 1: of a shape that would lend itself to insertion. But again,
- 20:01Speaker 1: they don't go into detail in the story. So the
- 20:05Speaker 1: possibility does exist that since the package of the meth
- 20:11Speaker 1: is hot dog shaped, maybe it was put in his
- 20:16Speaker 1: backside like a hot dog. Between the two buntons, in
- 20:22Speaker 1: other words, so you could see it. However, Trey and
- 20:28Speaker 1: I learned this yesterday on the Treehouse Show. There was
- 20:31Speaker 1: a man also this past week who was busted at
- 20:34Speaker 1: the border trying to smuggle two hundred and fifty pounds
- 20:38Speaker 1: of boloney. He was doing it in the back of
- 20:43Speaker 1: his truck. He was not doing it in the same
- 20:45Speaker 1: manner that this young man was, because if we're being honest,
- 20:49Speaker 1: you're not going to put twenty two packages of bologne
- 20:52Speaker 1: in your button. If you are, then you're the greatest
- 20:55Speaker 1: drug mule of all time. Anyway, the point is this
- 21:02Speaker 1: Border patrols really good at their job, and the dogs
- 21:10Speaker 1: had a really easy week, right The border patrol canines
- 21:16Speaker 1: had a really easy week. I say that because not
- 21:20Speaker 1: only did they bust him in with two hundred and
- 21:23Speaker 1: fifty pounds of balgoney in his truck, it's processed to meet.
- 21:27Speaker 1: You don't need to be a highly trained canine to
- 21:29Speaker 1: smell that. Now there's this guy who has a bunch
- 21:34Speaker 1: of meth hidden in his butt. You're trying to Any
- 21:38Speaker 1: normal dog is gonna sniff someone's butt and probably flag
- 21:45Speaker 1: that there's something amiss in here. It really is like
- 21:48Speaker 1: a it's like a walk in the park for these
- 21:50Speaker 1: canines over this last weekend.
- 21:53Speaker 3: That and the size of that thing. He had to
- 21:56Speaker 3: like kind of be duck walking and look very uncomfortable
- 21:59Speaker 3: as he's a approaching the border.
- 22:01Speaker 1: That stated, boy, Yeah, yeah, I think uh, I think
- 22:06Speaker 1: that would also be a pretty strong clue that he's
- 22:08Speaker 1: hiding something.
- 22:10Speaker 2: What'd you have for dinner last night?
- 22:12Speaker 1: Yeah? If you're going to try to smuggle things across

- 22:29Speaker 2: up your butt? It's not I would assume it's not easy.

- 23:39Speaker 1: is the Treehouse Show. I'm Daniel Maley along with Trey
- 23:42Speaker 1: Trenholme and Jerry Caldwell. Today is Friday, April fourth, twenty
- 23:46Speaker 1: twenty five. I have a very special story to share
- 23:49Speaker 1: with you too today. On an island south of Adelaide.
- 23:56Speaker 1: I think I said that wrong. Adelaide, Adelaide. I've never
- 23:59Speaker 1: been to austri Adelaide, Adelaide. That makes more sense. For
- 24:04Speaker 1: a time that I think about it, I feel like
- 24:05Speaker 1: the story is gonna need some music in me just
- 24:07Speaker 1: a moment here. Let me dig through and try to
- 24:09Speaker 1: find something that I feel like will fit the vibe
- 24:12Speaker 1: of this particular story. You see here, Here we go,
- 24:21Speaker 1: Here we go, guys, hear that? Okay, we started over
- 24:28Speaker 1: for effect? All right, here we go. All good stories,
- 24:32Speaker 1: get this music. On an island south of Adelaide, a
- 24:41Speaker 1: strange creature has been seen creeping through the bush. A long,
- 24:47Speaker 1: cylindrical body and long snout flanked by floppy ears or
- 24:51Speaker 1: diad giveaways. But this Wiener dog named Valerie isn't lost anymore.
- 24:59Speaker 1: After almost eighteen months of living wild on Kangaroo Island,
- 25:05Speaker 1: local police are poised to get her out of there
- 25:08Speaker 1: and reunite her with her owners, Josh and Georgia. So yes,
- 25:13Speaker 1: if you're following along in Australia, a Wiener has survived
- 25:19Speaker 1: the bush, aren't you glad? I've gone so far out
- 25:29Speaker 1: of my way to share this story with you today.
- 25:31Speaker 1: Inside the treehouse.
- 25:35Speaker 3: That's a big setup for that bunch of.
- 25:40Speaker 1: It really was. I don't care, it's Friday. I'm having fun. Oh.
- 25:45Speaker 1: It also is just a really good story and the
- 25:47Speaker 1: fact that it's right within the window. But it's true.
- 25:52Speaker 1: It's freakish to think about it. In reality, a miniature
- 25:55Speaker 1: Wiener dog in Australia has somehow survived eighteen months in
- 26:01Speaker 1: the bush.
- 26:02Speaker 2: If there was a breed of dog, I can believe
- 26:04Speaker 2: that one.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Oh you're with me on the Wiener love Jerry. Oh yeah,
- 26:09Speaker 1: My very first dog was a docsuent and I loved
- 26:13Speaker 1: that dog. She was my very first memory at the
- 26:16Speaker 1: age of one, and when I told my dad that
- 26:21Speaker 1: that my first memory was of that little dog. He said,
- 26:24Speaker 1: there's no way, And so I described to him what
- 26:28Speaker 1: I remembered that he just assumed was a dream that
- 26:31Speaker 1: I was confusing with real life. And I told him
- 26:35Speaker 1: I remember going to this front door, opening up a
- 26:38Speaker 1: wooden door with the glass that was a sort of
- 26:42Speaker 1: you know, prism style, so you couldn't quite see through it.
- 26:45Speaker 1: It was stylish glass, opening the front door, walking into
- 26:49Speaker 1: this tile entryway, and seeing this little reddish brown Wiener
- 26:55Speaker 1: dog puppy come scurrying up to me, went right past
- 26:59Speaker 1: my dad, who had bent over saying, come here, sween,
- 27:02Speaker 1: you come here, come here, and she bolted straight past him,
- 27:06Speaker 1: right into my waiting, little five year old hands. And
- 27:09Speaker 1: when I told my dad dad story, he said, son
- 27:11Speaker 1: of a bitch, you do remember that? He actually, I
- 27:15Speaker 1: think he may have said f me, but still what
- 27:18Speaker 1: he said excitedly there, I didn't remember exactly, but I
- 27:23Speaker 1: remembered that I remembered the dog. And he said, I
- 27:26Speaker 1: you're absolutely right you. I can't believe you remember that,
- 27:29Speaker 1: and I do. I love Wiener dogs.
- 27:31Speaker 2: No, you said you were one.
- 27:33Speaker 1: M oh yeah, sorry, one, not five.
- 27:35Speaker 3: One. Yes, I was one. Your love of wieners was
- 27:39Speaker 3: from an early age, It really was. You did give
- 27:43Speaker 3: the greatest SoundBite.
- 27:44Speaker 1: Earlier when I said that, So you're with me.
- 27:49Speaker 3: Jerry in the love of Wieners.
- 27:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I kind of knew what I was saying there. Yeah, yeah,
- 27:56Speaker 1: I was just I'm just having fun with it, like
- 27:58Speaker 1: you with the Wieners, Wiener dogs, Wiener dogs. No one
- 28:03Speaker 1: Brown would freak out. But it really is a wild story.
- 28:08Speaker 1: Eighteen months, this docs has survived in the wild in Australia.
- 28:13Speaker 1: I wouldn't survive eighteen minutes.
- 28:16Speaker 3: Yeah, that's I mean, that's what makes it all the
- 28:20Speaker 3: more impressive is it's Australia. They're just everything around you
- 28:24Speaker 3: can kill you.
- 28:25Speaker 1: And Jerry, you said you're not surprised that a doxin
- 28:28Speaker 1: or Wiener dog, that that breed is one that would
- 28:31Speaker 1: survive the Australian outback.
- 28:32Speaker 2: Absolutely not. As a matter of fact, has anyone asked
- 28:35Speaker 2: this dog if they want to come back to civilization?
- 28:38Speaker 1: Ooh, that's a good question. She may be live. Valerie
- 28:41Speaker 1: may be living her best life.
- 28:43Speaker 3: I forgot what they're They're originally bred to hunt like
- 28:46Speaker 3: moles or.
- 28:48Speaker 2: Some brown Yeah, they're ground dogs.
- 28:50Speaker 3: Yeah, So.
- 28:52Speaker 1: What was told to me is that they were bred
- 28:54Speaker 1: to go into holes and like you said, anything in
- 28:57Speaker 1: the hole gets her long and slender, and and I
- 29:00Speaker 1: can attest I still have a scar in my right ear.
- 29:03Speaker 1: They bite really really hard. They are fighters.
- 29:07Speaker 3: I remember when you got that scar.
- 29:09Speaker 1: Thank you. Trey wasn't there that was wasn't that kind
- 29:14Speaker 1: of a party. But what was told to me is
- 29:18Speaker 1: that they were bred to like go into holes in
- 29:20Speaker 1: the burrows and things like that, and like pull out
- 29:23Speaker 1: badgers and wolverines and such. I don't know why you'd
- 29:25Speaker 1: want to pull one out of there, but I don't know.
- 29:27Speaker 1: I guess for the furs. Back in the day, no
- 29:32Speaker 1: one ever answered that question for me. And so it's
- 29:38Speaker 1: that thinking, Jerry, is the reason why you think that
- 29:40Speaker 1: the wier dog is an appropriate breed to survive the
- 29:45Speaker 1: bush of Australia.
- 29:46Speaker 2: Absolutely okay.
- 29:50Speaker 1: It's interesting though that they still can't catch her. They said,
- 29:54Speaker 1: she go ahead.
- 29:56Speaker 2: That's why I'm like, does she want to be caught?
- 29:57Speaker 2: It's probably out there thinking this is awesome.
- 30:01Speaker 1: There are teams of people trying to get her. Now,
- 30:04Speaker 1: Like I said earlier, local police think they're close. They
- 30:08Speaker 1: think they're close in twenty twenty three.
- 30:10Speaker 3: The pair.
- 30:12Speaker 1: Josh and Georgia in twenty twenty three, were enjoying a
- 30:15Speaker 1: camping holiday on the island with their miniature docks and Valerie,
- 30:19Speaker 1: who weighs no more than eight pounds, soaking wet. They
- 30:22Speaker 1: said the pampered pooch was used, was used to pink
- 30:26Speaker 1: sweaters and toys, treats and ramps to help her get upstairs,
- 30:30Speaker 1: and so the couple thought it would be safe to
- 30:31Speaker 1: leave her closed in her cage with plenty of pleasures
- 30:34Speaker 1: while they went fishing. First of all, don't do that now,
- 30:37Speaker 1: don't don't, don't. Don't leave your dog like that In
- 30:41Speaker 1: Australia no less anyway. But within minutes of casting their lines,
- 30:45Speaker 1: another camper told him Valerie had escaped, run underneath a
- 30:48Speaker 1: van and then bolted into the bush when some people
- 30:52Speaker 1: tried to coax her out. They said, we spent the
- 30:53Speaker 1: next five days searching for her through the bush, hiking
- 30:57Speaker 1: up and down big hills, and camping overnight, having packed
- 31:00Speaker 1: only one pair of clothes each, and amid the stink,
- 31:02Speaker 1: the rain and all the conditions, they had to give up.
- 31:05Speaker 1: Now they've just heard last month that Valerie had been
- 31:09Speaker 1: seen on the island at the end of February, just
- 31:11Speaker 1: over nine miles from the campsite where she had been lost.
- 31:17Speaker 1: According to Georgie, she says, we're just waiting to see
- 31:20Speaker 1: what conditions he's in and whether she's still domesticated. It's
- 31:23Speaker 1: all pretty overwhelming. I just want to give her a
- 31:25Speaker 1: big hug because the local authorities and tour operators feel
- 31:29Speaker 1: like they are very close to catching her and bringing
- 31:31Speaker 1: her home.
- 31:35Speaker 3: There's ever a place a wiener is going to be happy.
- 31:39Speaker 1: You don't need to finish the sentence, but I'm not.

- 32:33Speaker 1: I'm Dan. That's Trey. He is Jerry and today is
- 32:38Speaker 1: Fred Day, April fourth, twenty twenty five. Let's celebrate with
- 32:46Speaker 1: some birthdays. It's actually a really good birthday day. I
- 32:50Speaker 1: was just taking a brief look in the last break
- 32:53Speaker 1: starts out really, I'm gonna skip over a few, but
- 32:56Speaker 1: then it picks up steam. Here we go. Jamie Lynn
- 32:59Speaker 1: Spears is prety four today, Jamie Lynn Spears thirty four today?
- 33:05Speaker 1: Is she the one? Is Jamie Lynn Spears the one
- 33:07Speaker 1: that had the awful Saturday Night Live performance? Or was that?
- 33:12Speaker 1: Who was that?
- 33:13Speaker 3: That was Jessica Simpson's sister?
- 33:16Speaker 1: Was that just that was Ashley Simpson Ashley Simpson. Yeah,
- 33:20Speaker 1: it's hard to keep the.
- 33:21Speaker 3: Jamie Lynn never even got that big enough to be
- 33:23Speaker 3: on Saturday Night Live.
- 33:26Speaker 1: She did make it out of the park though, the
- 33:29Speaker 1: trailer park, although it seems that Britney's back in it,
- 33:33Speaker 1: even though she's still in a penthouse in Vegas. I
- 33:36Speaker 1: saw something the other day. TMZ keeps posting stuff like
- 33:39Speaker 1: Britney Spears dancing on an underwear. I'm like, yeah, I
- 33:41Speaker 1: get it. Keeps crolling Yeah.
- 33:43Speaker 3: I think I think that's become old hat on her Instagram.
- 33:48Speaker 1: Mm hmm, I don't even know why that's newsworthy anymore. Yeah,
- 33:52Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure even her son's friends are like, come on, lady,
- 33:55Speaker 1: put some clothes on.
- 33:57Speaker 3: That's her crazy has become so like just mundane. It's
- 34:01Speaker 3: not it's not even a turn on anymore.
- 34:03Speaker 1: Yeah, take it outside, like, go go back to the
- 34:06Speaker 1: go back to the old Brittany where her crazy was
- 34:08Speaker 1: on display in full public, in the public going against
- 34:12Speaker 1: paparazzi with an umbrella, with a shaved head. That's the
- 34:14Speaker 1: Britney I miss. Yeah, that's the one Trey loves.
- 34:20Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean go go go back to hot Brittany
- 34:22Speaker 3: that you know, dancing and just the occasional out of craziness,
- 34:28Speaker 3: not not just every time you turn on your Instagram
- 34:30Speaker 3: you're you're gonna do something that's you've done before.
- 34:34Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, Britney Spears dancing around in her underwear is
- 34:36Speaker 1: not newsworthy. The time she did it with knives, that
- 34:39Speaker 1: was interesting, we all watched that. But then it gets
- 34:43Speaker 1: it gets old. So if she's gonna dance around again,
- 34:47Speaker 1: she's gonna have to dance around in her underwear with
- 34:48Speaker 1: some flamethrowers or Molotov cocktails or something. Just to keep
- 34:51Speaker 1: it interesting. Other birthdays Today, Happy birthday, Jamie Lynn spears.
- 34:56Speaker 1: I'm sure she loves that it's her birthday, and once
- 34:58Speaker 1: again we're left talking about her other birthdays.
- 35:01Speaker 2: Today.
- 35:01Speaker 1: Natasha Leones an actress. She is forty six. Today she's
- 35:04Speaker 1: na yet on Russian Doll she's Nicki in Orange is
- 35:08Speaker 1: the New Black, And if I remember correctly, she was
- 35:10Speaker 1: the wise, cracking, smart friend on American Pie. She was
- 35:14Speaker 1: in that as well. Other birthdays. David Blaine, the Magician,
- 35:18Speaker 1: is fifty two. I think I just saw he's got
- 35:20Speaker 1: a new special out. Is it on Disney?
- 35:24Speaker 2: I think so. It's called don't do this, Don't.
- 35:27Speaker 1: Try this, Okay, I won't.
- 35:31Speaker 3: Good.
- 35:31Speaker 1: Cool problem solved. He's a hell of a stunt performer.
- 35:37Speaker 1: I don't know what the new things are that he's got.
- 35:40Speaker 1: Remember one of the ones I remember? I think the
- 35:42Speaker 1: two biggest ones I remember him for was him balancing
- 35:46Speaker 1: on one foot on top of a building or like
- 35:50Speaker 1: a spire or something in New York. And the other
- 35:53Speaker 1: one was him living in a clear box for like
- 35:56Speaker 1: a week.
- 35:58Speaker 2: He's also been submerged, urged underwater for a very extended
- 36:03Speaker 2: period of time. He's been frozen in a block of ice.
- 36:08Speaker 1: Pretty impressive. Happy birthday to him. He is fifty two today.
- 36:11Speaker 1: Other birthdays. Nancy McKeon is fifty nine, best known as
- 36:15Speaker 1: Joe on the Facts of Life. She's also Demi Lovato's
- 36:18Speaker 1: mom on Sunny With a Chance.
- 36:22Speaker 3: She's only fifty nine.
- 36:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm with you. I would have thought she was
- 36:26Speaker 1: much older. Yeah, and now is when we get into
- 36:29Speaker 1: the super big birthdays. Are you ready? Here we go.
- 36:32Speaker 1: Iron Man slash soon to be Doctor Doom Robert Downey
- 36:36Speaker 1: Junior is sixty today, sixty years old. Not only is
- 36:41Speaker 1: he iron Man, but he's also going to be Doctor Doom.
- 36:45Speaker 1: I can't imagine the amount of money he now has.
- 36:49Speaker 1: I mean, if he wanted to, he could actually play
- 36:54Speaker 1: the role of Scrooge McDuck and swim around his own
- 36:56Speaker 1: gold coin pool.
- 36:59Speaker 3: Yeah, because he I believe part of his deal with
- 37:05Speaker 3: for Iron Man to come back as he took, he
- 37:07Speaker 3: got points on the back end of the movie of
- 37:10Speaker 3: all of them.
- 37:10Speaker 1: So yeah, he's riding high.
- 37:13Speaker 2: According to Celebrity Networth, he is worth three hundred mili.
- 37:20Speaker 1: That's before Avengers Doomsday that made double I just imagine
- 37:26Speaker 1: how much he'd be worth had he not snorted or
- 37:28Speaker 1: shot so much of it up in his younger years.
- 37:32Speaker 3: You know, you never know that's would he be as
- 37:34Speaker 3: good if he hadn't been down that road.
- 37:37Speaker 1: He may not. Had he not, had he not had
- 37:39Speaker 1: that history, he may not have been so perfect for
- 37:41Speaker 1: the role of Iron Man.
- 37:42Speaker 3: He always there's always that less than zero scene.
- 37:46Speaker 1: Oh god, Jerry, have you seen that?
- 37:51Speaker 2: I don't know what scene?
- 37:53Speaker 1: Trey, can you describe it in radio friendly detail?
- 38:00Speaker 3: He's blown a guy for drugs. Of of.
- 38:05Speaker 1: Jerry, let's bleep that for Brownwood. They're sensitive. But yeah,
- 38:12Speaker 1: that's it. Other birthdays today from Arrested Development and formerly
- 38:18Speaker 1: of Mister Show, David Cross is sixty one. Graham Norton,
- 38:22Speaker 1: the British talk show host, is sixty two, who I
- 38:24Speaker 1: will say is probably the best of the TV talk
- 38:28Speaker 1: show hosts. And usually we're talking about the American ones.
- 38:32Speaker 1: Go watch some of Graham Norton. He's fantastic.
- 38:34Speaker 3: He is so good. But that's I don't care what
- 38:43Speaker 3: side of the aisle you're on. The problem with late
- 38:47Speaker 3: night TV in America now is it is all they're
- 38:49Speaker 3: all political, you know, and you go back. There is
- 38:54Speaker 3: not one time you can go back and watch Johnny
- 38:56Speaker 3: Carson and figure out where he sits politically. Sure, but
- 39:02Speaker 3: it is Yeah, but Graham Norton is a great interview,
- 39:05Speaker 3: and it's fun, it's relaxed. It's what the Late night
- 39:08Speaker 3: Talk is supposed to be and instead of what we
- 39:11Speaker 3: have now, which is just crap.
- 39:15Speaker 1: Other birthdays today, Hugo Weaving is sixty five. This guy
- 39:18Speaker 1: is a is a prolific and talented actor. He is
- 39:23Speaker 1: l Rond, the Elf King and the Lord of the
- 39:25Speaker 1: Rings and Hobbit movies. He's Agent Smith in the Matrix movies,
- 39:28Speaker 1: Megatron in the first three Transformers movies, and the Red
- 39:32Speaker 1: Skull in Captain America. And that's just tip of the
- 39:34Speaker 1: iceberg for that guy. He is such a good actor.
- 39:36Speaker 1: Hugo Weaving. He is sixty five today.
- 39:40Speaker 3: David E.
- 39:40Speaker 1: Kelly is sixty nine. He's the writer producer of HBO's
- 39:44Speaker 1: Big Little Lies, Ali McNeil, The Practice, Boston Legal, and
- 39:48Speaker 1: Boston Public. Oh and by the way, if all those
- 39:51Speaker 1: things aren't awesome enough on their own, He's also married
- 39:54Speaker 1: to Michelle Pfeiffer.
- 39:57Speaker 2: Nice.
- 40:03Speaker 1: What's that trait the city?
- 40:04Speaker 3: You have done well, sir?
- 40:06Speaker 1: I wonder if she ever reminds him of that in bed,
- 40:08Speaker 1: just kind of rolls over and says, you know you're
- 40:11Speaker 1: a miscat Helvin. You are a hell of a writer, producer.
- 40:14Speaker 3: You know.
- 40:15Speaker 1: I mean you've done Big Little Eyes, Ali McBeal, The Practice, Boston,
- 40:19Speaker 1: The Eagle, Boston Public. But if we're being honest, isn't
- 40:22Speaker 1: your greatest accomplishment me lying right here next to you
- 40:26Speaker 1: and he can't argue that?
- 40:27Speaker 3: Mm hmm. It'd also be funny if she just rolled
- 40:31Speaker 3: over and said, Denny Crane.

- 41:44Speaker 1: it's Friday, and almost screwed up the whole deal. James
- 41:47Speaker 1: listener that loves this his favorite part of the show,
- 41:49Speaker 1: and he's always mad if I don't do it a
- 41:51Speaker 1: certain way. Even when I do it what I think
- 41:54Speaker 1: is the right way, he's still mad about it. So
- 41:56Speaker 1: if I didn't do it at all, he'd be really pissed.
- 41:57Speaker 1: Here we go.
- 42:07Speaker 5: You're in the Treehouse.
- 42:09Speaker 6: Visit us online at Treehouse on Air dot com.
- 42:26Speaker 3: All right.
- 42:33Speaker 1: For all things Treehouse, go to Treehouse on Air dot com.
- 42:55Speaker 1: All right, Jerry, Just so you know, the listeners absolutely
- 42:59Speaker 1: love of watching you rock out on our Patreon Patreon
- 43:03Speaker 1: dot com slash Treehouse on Air. You bring such vim
- 43:07Speaker 1: and vigor to the lover Boy Hot Girls Friday portion
- 43:11Speaker 1: of the show. I am I'm trying. All I've got
- 43:15Speaker 1: is my my flashlight app on my phone to try
- 43:17Speaker 1: to anticipate is my lighting situation is not great, especially today,
- 43:22Speaker 1: but we make do so when you hear the Hot
- 43:24Speaker 1: Girl's lover Boy flasherlights, enjoy have fun. Trey, What was
- 43:28Speaker 1: it that you got on your phone recently?
- 43:31Speaker 3: Oh, it's just it's a Boston Legal clip came across
- 43:36Speaker 3: my Facebook video thing this morning. I was watching you
- 43:42Speaker 3: know where someone takes Alan Shore of Uh oh god,
- 43:50Speaker 3: I just drew a blank on his name.
- 43:51Speaker 1: But thank god, I'm not the only one drawing a
- 43:53Speaker 1: blank today.
- 43:56Speaker 3: Who's the actor who played James Spader? James Spader and
- 44:03Speaker 3: you know Shatner shoots them and then any Crane.
- 44:10Speaker 1: Yeah, it's interesting how because like the way the show
- 44:12Speaker 1: works sometimes is we'll talk about an individual and then
- 44:17Speaker 1: inevitably it happens to be their birthday or they're related
- 44:21Speaker 1: to someone whose birthday is and the birthday thing. That's
- 44:23Speaker 1: part of the reason why we do birthdays is because
- 44:25Speaker 1: there's always some weird crossover that happens. And the way
- 44:30Speaker 1: our phones listen to us, now our show will our
- 44:35Speaker 1: show will infiltrate your apps on your phone. So now
- 44:40Speaker 1: that we've talked about Boston Legal as much as we
- 44:42Speaker 1: have today, we'll probably get served on social media some
- 44:46Speaker 1: Denny Crane Boston Legal type stuff. And this happened to
- 44:50Speaker 1: me just the other day because just the other day, Trey,
- 44:52Speaker 1: you and I were talking about how seeing certain types
- 44:57Speaker 1: of shoes to help coddle and cuddle your feet now
- 45:03Speaker 1: seem appealing. We're at the age now where orthopedic style
- 45:07Speaker 1: shoes sound appealing. And my phone heard that. My phone
- 45:12Speaker 1: heard that, and it gave me this ad on Instagram,
- 45:16Speaker 1: and I don't even want to say it out loud,
- 45:18Speaker 1: but I have to. It's uphos f Os is some
- 45:23Speaker 1: sort of orthopedic old man sneakers. And I'll admit the
- 45:28Speaker 1: neon green with the white it looks pretty stylish, if
- 45:33Speaker 1: you know, if I'm being honest. So good on you
- 45:37Speaker 1: Instagram for listening and recommending the ooh my stride shoe
- 45:45Speaker 1: Active recovery footwear, advanced oohfhoam technology gets you back. And
- 45:52Speaker 1: even someone comments best supportive shoes out there. So we're
- 45:56Speaker 1: all of a certain age that supportive shoes now sound
- 46:01Speaker 1: kind of nice because not only do I want to hug,
- 46:05Speaker 1: but so do my feet.
- 46:07Speaker 3: Did you order them.
- 46:10Speaker 1: In every single color? I mean, look at it. Styl
- 46:15Speaker 1: is right, And the good news is no one's really
- 46:18Speaker 1: aware of this brand. If I wear Sketchers, I'd look
- 46:21Speaker 1: like an old ass, you know, and I just I
- 46:24Speaker 1: can't have that. But I got these. If I get these,
- 46:26Speaker 1: then maybe I look halfway uh normal, because honestly, the
- 46:33Speaker 1: only way anyone's going to know that name brand is
- 46:35Speaker 1: if they too have them. It makes sense in my head.
- 46:45Speaker 1: I had a tire fire in my brain earlier today.
- 46:48Speaker 1: Let me have the comfy shoe thing.
- 46:52Speaker 3: What what other ads pop up based on our on
- 46:55Speaker 3: the show that on your phone?
- 46:56Speaker 1: I'd rather not say. There's some weird stuff. Let's just
- 47:03Speaker 1: leave it at that.
- 47:08Speaker 3: Anything pirate too much.
- 47:13Speaker 1: I did get I did get hit with some charter
- 47:15Speaker 1: with some ads for charter companies if you want to
- 47:18Speaker 1: do the Pirate experience. However, some of those ads weren't
- 47:22Speaker 1: all got charter based. There were some other options as
- 47:25Speaker 1: well that I'd rather not discuss.
- 47:28Speaker 3: Some group options.
- 47:30Speaker 1: Right here, Trey, that's for you.
- 47:34Speaker 2: Keep it up.
- 47:34Speaker 1: I'm gonna give you the second figure. You're coming with
- 47:39Speaker 1: me for all things Treehouse. Go to Treehouse on Air,
