Latest / The Robbie Harvey Show / Bruna Interview I Mica Miller’s Best Friend Goes Beyond Netflix
Transcript
- 0:01God hates divorce. But why?
- 0:04According to everybody I've asked and the the scriptures
- 0:07that I've found, it's because it hurts people.
- 0:10But does abuse hurt people? How do you think God feels about
- 0:15that? So I want to remind you, like a
- 0:21bunch of people have been reminding me lately, that I'm
- 0:25God's pride first. And even an earthly spouse who's
- 0:31a good spouse when they know that their bride is being hurt,
- 0:37Just imagine what an earthly spouse does.
- 0:40What do you think your heavenly spouse does when you're the
- 0:44bride of Christ and he sees his bride going through abuse and
- 0:48hurt? What do you think he thinks
- 0:51about that? Well, let me let me ask you
- 0:59this. I meant to ask this early.
- 1:01Did she bring up the homeless people to you?
- 1:05She told me about it. Yeah.
- 1:06I still have a hard time talking about that because I think that
- 1:10was one of the things that hurt the most because she said that.
- 1:15She said. I just, I scrubbed my body until
- 1:19it was red, almost to the point of bleeding and I still couldn't
- 1:23feel clean and I held her so tight and, and she I just let
- 1:29her cry. I just let her cry.
- 1:38The interview that you're about to listen to is probably one of
- 1:42the most difficult interviews that I've conducted since the
- 1:45death of Micah Miller in April of 2024.
- 1:49What you saw in the Netflix documentary Death of the
- 1:52Pastor's Wife, It's just a fraction.
- 1:55What was allegedly going on between the disturbing marriage
- 1:59of John Paul Miller and Michael. Now it's time to dive deeper, go
- 2:05even further than the documentary told by one of her
- 2:09closest friends, Bruno. And she's like, he's defaming me
- 2:14and he is going to tell everybody that I'm crazy.
- 2:18He's going to put a bullet in my head.
- 2:19I'm going to show up ditch, show up dead in a ditch somewhere and
- 2:24he's going to say that I killed myself and he's going to blame
- 2:27it. He's going to say that I killed
- 2:29myself. And a reminder, John Paul Miller
- 2:33denies everything he's being accused of.
- 2:36He's pleaded not guilty to his upcoming federal trial, whenever
- 2:41that may take place. I have a friend, actually an
- 2:46acquaintance. He thinks he's my friend, more
- 2:48of an acquaintance. But several years ago he
- 2:51murdered his wife. And I've known him for maybe
- 2:542527 years. He owns a little restaurant that
- 2:57I go to every week, once a week, and I talk to him and say, hey,
- 3:00and I've known him for years. I was in high school.
- 3:02And a few years ago, his wife, who was a lovely woman, she was
- 3:05a doctor. They had two kids.
- 3:07They got into an argument there at the restaurant actually.
- 3:10And Long story short, he he murdered or he killed his wife.
- 3:13And you may be thinking, I can't believe my pastor is friends
- 3:17with the man who murdered his wife.
- 3:19Here's my question. How many of you, by God's
- 3:21standard, are murderers? But what you're about to hear is
- 3:25one of the most heartbreaking looks into the life and death of
- 3:30Micah Miller. This is my sit down interview
- 3:34with Bruno and she starts by telling us how her and Micah
- 3:39became friends. Yeah, so we, so I was in the
- 3:44choir with her the privacy year the previous year, but we didn't
- 3:49speak. So I wasn't talking like we
- 3:51weren't talking. I was super shy.
- 3:54And so when we first like a year later, when we first hang out,
- 3:58actually got to hang out, you know, as friends, I said, let's
- 4:03go to the beach. It's supposed to be a 30 minute
- 4:05coffee. She said, you know, I have to
- 4:07meet with John Paul for something.
- 4:09And so it's supposed to be 30 minutes.
- 4:11We went, got some coffee and ended up being a four hour
- 4:15meeting. We went from the coffee shop to
- 4:18the beach back to the coffee shop.
- 4:23It was so amazing in in every way.
- 4:25I mean, I was praying for a friend when she came.
- 4:27So it felt like God sent for me as a friend, and I still believe
- 4:31that she was. And from there on out, you guys
- 4:35were so close to each other. Times on and off it was never
- 4:40like 100% like this and I think because of the abuse she suffer.
- 4:44So there were times we were closer and I felt like every
- 4:49time she withdrew. It took me a little while to
- 4:51figure this out, but I figured out that every time she
- 4:54withdrew, they were going through something, but I did not
- 4:57know that at the time. So it was like really close.
- 5:00And then a couple weeks ago by and she kind of spaced out and
- 5:04then really close. So I mean, I remember even
- 5:06saying to Ricky at a point I was like, I really like her and I
- 5:12want to talk to her like, you know, if everything is OK,
- 5:15'cause I never thought abuse. I just thought, you know, maybe
- 5:18was culturally or some difference, you know, or if she
- 5:22was just busy and, and that conversation never happened
- 5:26because obviously I found out later, but.
- 5:29Yeah, so I let's let's go there because a lot of people I see in
- 5:34my comments say, well, why didn't people do something about
- 5:38it? Why didn't her friends do
- 5:40something about it? You, you guys didn't know until
- 5:43the final year, final months, right?
- 5:47So Micah first told me about the abuse.
- 5:50So she had told me about arguments.
- 5:54We would talk when we were in a group.
- 5:55Friends, not in my house. Or whatever we were so.
- 6:00We talk, wife's talk, women talk, you share expertise, you
- 6:03ask for advice, you share the word of God.
- 6:07You want to make sure you are being biblical, you know, and,
- 6:11and so that's very normal. I've always felt that that was
- 6:14very normal for women to communicate that way.
- 6:16So there was always time, but never the full story.
- 6:21There's a few times she said, oh, John, Paul doesn't want me
- 6:23to talk to my sisters anymore. How do you feel about it?
- 6:27And I'll ask her for contacts and background of the story.
- 6:32Times that when she left the coffee shop she was working at,
- 6:35for example, she came to me and said, he wants me to leave and
- 6:40work with him at the church. And he's going to pay me through
- 6:44the church just so I can be with him every day.
- 6:47But I really love working at the coffee shop.
- 6:49I got to pray with people here. I get to to to serve them.
- 6:55She loved because there's a lot of homeless that go by.
- 6:57And Micah had a huge heart to serve, so she loved doing that
- 7:00kind of stuff. So we would talk.
- 7:02Those little conversations, but abuse never came up.
- 7:06It wasn't until October of 2023 because that's when I left the
- 7:14church and the next day as soon as I left and sat with Trish and
- 7:18JP the next day Micah came over and said now that you left I
- 7:23have something to tell you, let's talk.
- 7:26And that was again another 5 hour conversation because it was
- 7:29she was in my house till like 4 in the morning.
- 7:32And I want to remind people, especially those that are new to
- 7:35the story, October 2023 is really when it all begins.
- 7:42The, I hate to say it, but, but the countdown to Micah's death,
- 7:46that's really October 2023 is a key date.
- 7:51What did that 5 hour conversation entail?
- 7:56It took me a long time to process all of it because I knew
- 8:02in 2023 and then 2024 and everything felt like moved so
- 8:07fast, right? At least for us who were in it.
- 8:11So I remember the main part of her saying was now that you
- 8:15left, I want to talk to you. And that was like something she
- 8:18kept repeating. I'm so glad I can talk to you.
- 8:20I don't feel like she was so excited that she didn't have to
- 8:23hide to protect my faith. And that was very, very, very
- 8:31dominant in that conversation. Everything she talked about, she
- 8:34was like, oh, man, oh, I don't have to worry about anymore.
- 8:37I'm so excited. And so a lot of the things she
- 8:41talked about was so she just started sharing her heart in one
- 8:45piece. It wasn't like a specific place,
- 8:49but she would say things like, you know, when you asked me to
- 8:53go on a trip for your wedding? You know why I couldn't go?
- 8:57Because he doesn't want to stay away from me.
- 8:59I can't stay away from the house, not even one night.
- 9:02He cannot go one day without sex.
- 9:06And I was like. What?
- 9:07It's just like, yeah. I'm telling you, he will not let
- 9:10me travel. He won't even let me see my
- 9:12sister or my family because I can't stay away from him.
- 9:16And I was like, OK. And so it started like and then
- 9:19you know is and then it started getting deeper.
- 9:23It started she you know, and I just listen.
- 9:26I just listen not in a happy way, but more in like a concern
- 9:31and happy that she can share her heart with someone who want
- 9:34understood the Bible too. Was a business owner so she
- 9:38wanted my. Perspective from both.
- 9:40And then three, just a just a Christian like is this biblical?
- 9:43And I said, no, this is not biblical, you know, obviously
- 9:47not the Witness, but the other things.
- 9:49She was curious because, you know, I cleaned his house.
- 9:52The church paid for his house cleaning.
- 9:54The church paid for Susie Skinner's house cleaning.
- 9:57There was a lot of different expenses.
- 10:02You know how this go. Let me let me clarify some
- 10:05things because Bruno knows a lot y'all and I've been talking with
- 10:09Bruno for you know you and I've been talking for a couple of
- 10:13years. Since since it happened.
- 10:15Yeah, and. And I think you can testify I'm
- 10:19in a much better place, right? You are, you are, you're in a
- 10:22very, very, I remember to this day our first phone call and I
- 10:26remember you breaking down and, and just opening up your heart
- 10:29to how, how heartbroken you are. But what you just said there, I
- 10:35think we talked about it in the past, but you were John Paul
- 10:39Miller was paying for you to clean Susie Skinner's house.
- 10:44Yes, about you prior to Chris passing, it's when I started.
- 10:50Did you suspect any? Or just actually maybe, maybe
- 10:53less. Could be a few months I think
- 10:55before his passing. Did you suspect any affair
- 10:58between the two? Honestly, yes.
- 11:03You did? Yep, it was.
- 11:04Just I never liked JP's attitude.
- 11:08I could feel, so when you are a victim or a survivor as we call
- 11:14it, you can, you, can you learn to read the signs of a person
- 11:18who. Right.
- 11:20And so I remember telling Ricky, like he reminds me so much of so
- 11:24many like weird people that I had bad experience with.
- 11:29And I always told Ricky, I have to really work on my heart,
- 11:31'cause like I keep looking and every time he talks, sometimes
- 11:35it really upset me. Like, like just simple things,
- 11:39like he just takes off walking ahead and leave Michael behind,
- 11:43you know, like just small little things was like like a pin
- 11:46needle. So yeah.
- 11:49So when I started cleaning, I saw their conversation and he
- 11:52was getting friendly hand on the shoulder, you know, like it was
- 11:57it was little and it was definitely present enough for us
- 12:01to say if something ever might happen.
- 12:05And Michael leaves JPI guarantee you Susie will be the first one
- 12:09to to go for him and all of the group friends talked about it,
- 12:13you know. And and this is a fair question,
- 12:16I'm going to ask a fair question here.
- 12:19Did you warn Micah as her friend?
- 12:21Because I feel like the online community may question that.
- 12:25Did you warn Micah? Right.
- 12:27Honestly, I didn't have to because Micah saw herself like
- 12:31within the first week I started having those feelings, she asked
- 12:35me. Because about that, we did talk.
- 12:37So, you know, she asked me, do you think they're getting a
- 12:40little too friendly? Because I always had a very
- 12:43thick boundary when it comes to relationship and friendships of
- 12:48and, and she asked me, do you think something's going on?
- 12:50And I said it definitely looks weird.
- 12:52Like honestly. It looks weird for everybody.
- 12:54And JP has a record. Like that's literally what I
- 12:57told her. It's like, not just me, but the
- 12:59girls. I can't recall exactly who was
- 13:02here that night, but I remember a conversation in the group and
- 13:07and they were saying, you know, yeah, that definitely looks
- 13:09weird. And he's has the is his MO.
- 13:13So then Micah confessed that he had cheated on her when they
- 13:16were dating after she he divorced Allison and they were
- 13:21just dating. He was already, you know, having
- 13:25relationship with other people. She had phone messages and he
- 13:28always kind of got away and she always forgave.
- 13:31And she said that herself, you know, she's like, I believe in
- 13:35forgiveness. And then when he got close to
- 13:37the end, so I knew her in 2019 and as we got closer to like am
- 13:43the 2023, I felt like her belief was drastically changing from
- 13:52and here's what I mean. Being respectful when talking to
- 13:56a person of the opposite sex or a friendship to like when we
- 14:01started the ice bath, I invited her to go the first time.
- 14:04It was because of me that she went and I said, hey, I've been
- 14:09wanting to do this. She's like, Oh my God, I saw it.
- 14:11Let's go. We went Thursday.
- 14:13It was a pop up event on the side of a gym and it was just
- 14:18free. Anybody could come just for a
- 14:20trial. And there was unisex man women,
- 14:23some people wearing bathing suit, the men some are wearing
- 14:26shirts, but they're wearing shorts.
- 14:28But we was Micah Knight and I remember she's like, OK, just I
- 14:33just want to be accountable. Please if JP.
- 14:35Asked. I wasn't.
- 14:36Looking on anybody and I was like so shocked on her behave.
- 14:41This was actually 22. I'm sorry.
- 14:43So yeah, 22 and 23. It started like going down very
- 14:48fast. Like it was, it was almost like
- 14:51she was, she felt you could now I could see it, but back then I
- 14:57didn't. But she was genuinely scared.
- 14:59Like, please, like I just, I just want you to hold me
- 15:02account. I'm like, like Micah, He's like
- 15:04way over there. Like 10 people from us who
- 15:07cares? Nobody's even talking to the,
- 15:10you know, like he's not even. And of course he wasn't in that
- 15:15scenario, but he was like, really?
- 15:17He's really going to be upset. She's like, yeah.
- 15:20And I said, Micah, this is not healthy.
- 15:23And so you know those things, but then you kind of drop back
- 15:26because you're like, wait, this is my pastor's wife, what am I
- 15:29doing? So it's like a constantly fist 5
- 15:33mismatch of like where am I overstepping my boundary as your
- 15:38friend and as you are my pastor's wife that is supposed
- 15:43to look up and help? Let me ask you, and I think this
- 15:46is a fair question also, if you saw these red flags, why did you
- 15:51keep going to Solid Rock? Because I think culturally I
- 15:58will blame my culture. In Brazil, the culture is very
- 16:03much like this too. The ratio is usually seven women
- 16:06to one man. So every woman you know has been
- 16:10cheated on and we will accept that kind of relationship just
- 16:13to stay married because God hates divorce, right?
- 16:17So the amount of gaslighting that happens within the church
- 16:23if you ask so much questions is also something that scares a lot
- 16:27of people in the church. So I had a big ministry.
- 16:30I loved Micah and I felt called to be there up until 23 when God
- 16:36told us we should leave. Now when I left was a
- 16:39combination of these tiny little red flags.
- 16:42But the major reason was, you know, Ricky just came up and
- 16:46said, hey, I'm feeling energy in my heart.
- 16:48And God told us we should leave this church.
- 16:51So it wasn't like I knew any absurd other than the cheating
- 16:54in in the, you know, but but yeah, so she told me that had
- 17:00happened three times. And then in September 23, when
- 17:03she found out with Susie, Micah's plan was this.
- 17:06I'm going to go to Africa. And I'm going to take this time
- 17:09to focus on myself and heal and I'm going to figure out with God
- 17:13what he wants me to do. And because she told me about
- 17:20the abuse before her Africa trip.
- 17:22So during her Africa trip, she called me.
- 17:26And I think it was the hardest conversation.
- 17:28And it was, I think I'm going to go back to John Powell.
- 17:32And I said, what? Come again?
- 17:34What did you say, 'cause I mean, I just heard the most horrific
- 17:38things of my life. And within two weeks, she's
- 17:41like, I think I'm going to go back to John Paul.
- 17:43And I said, Micah, you're not going to be able to see your
- 17:46sisters. You're not going to be able to
- 17:48work. You want to go to.
- 17:49College. She was applying for college
- 17:51here near us to do marketing design.
- 17:54She loved that kind of stuff. I said your every plan that you
- 17:59have in place right now, you know he's going to take you out
- 18:02of it. And she said I know, but if I
- 18:05don't go back, who's going to hold the JP accountable for what
- 18:09he's doing? I'm his wife.
- 18:13There's nobody else that got put on this earth other than me.
- 18:16After me is his mom and I have to hold him accountable to the
- 18:20word of God. And so, and then her plan was
- 18:25what I think I shared the message where she said, I'm, I'm
- 18:28going to drop a contract and if he ever cheats on me again, if
- 18:32he ever is inappropriate with the person or, or, you know,
- 18:35disrespectful to me or he's going to lose the church and the
- 18:40home and everything in it and walk out empty handed.
- 18:45And I remember asking her, do you really think he's going to
- 18:48do this if you make him sign this?
- 18:51Do you really think he will oblige to the contract?
- 18:53Do you think he would live to up to this contract?
- 18:57And and she said, I have to believe.
- 19:01And that was that was her response.
- 19:03I have to believe, I have to try.
- 19:05And I said, how would you going to know when it's time to stop?
- 19:11Because every woman knows right? When it's time for her to get
- 19:15out of a relationship. So I asked Micah, what is your
- 19:18breaking point? Like, what is it?
- 19:20What is it going to take? For you to walk.
- 19:22Away from this, because obviously I had shared my
- 19:24experience, she heard from others, we talked about abuse
- 19:28during relationship and we talked about, you know, the
- 19:33infidelity. We talked about all these
- 19:34things, not just her and I, but as a group, Micah was very
- 19:39curious. She was always educating
- 19:40herself, asking questions. And so her question, her reply
- 19:46was, this is it, this is the last time.
- 19:50This is why I'm doing the contract because I do want to
- 19:52hold him unaccountable. And I feel like if I just walk
- 19:55away, God will hold me accountable for allowing him to
- 20:00continue to go up and preach knowing everything he's doing.
- 20:04So she found an immense responsibility.
- 20:06And at that point I said, I remember telling her at that
- 20:11point I said, I I know God can do miracles.
- 20:14But a person that hasn't changed most likely won't.
- 20:18You guys been together for a decade at this point.
- 20:21And she's like, well, I'm going to try.
- 20:23And I said, I'm here. I'm here for you no matter what.
- 20:25And so, and that was my heart. I just didn't want her to push
- 20:28me away because I knew that was going to come.
- 20:31And I didn't want her to withdraw from me from
- 20:36embarrassment of what she told me.
- 20:38So at that phone call, I told her I wasn't.
- 20:42Yeah, she was in Africa when we were talking during this phone
- 20:45call. I told her no matter what, no
- 20:48matter when, even if we're not part of the church, I said, you
- 20:51know, you always have my friendship whether you guys are
- 20:53together or not. I said, it's hard for me to look
- 20:58at John Paul the same now because I know too much.
- 21:00I said, but I'm here for you no matter what.
- 21:03And I love you. And, and she's like, I love you,
- 21:06too. And that was the last like
- 21:08friendship phone call we had before he cut her off because
- 21:12when she got back he forbade her from talking to me when they got
- 21:16back together. And you shared that text message
- 21:18where John Paul actually messages you and and and says
- 21:25you were at fault you you were sending for any even listening
- 21:28to Micah that's. That's what Micah and I had
- 21:33done. Talking about it was greater
- 21:36than anything he could have possibly committed.
- 21:38That's not true. That's not true.
- 21:41That is, I did not reply to that text.
- 21:45By the way, a lot of people ask how did I reply?
- 21:47What did I say? I blocked him because I know
- 21:51that's how they work. And if you reply, it's going to
- 21:53be. Back and forth.
- 21:54I didn't say a single thing to him.
- 21:56I blocked him. I went to Micah's phone and I
- 21:59messaged her directly. I said I I told you before and
- 22:02I'm here. I love you.
- 22:05I can be here in a week. I could be here 5 hours from
- 22:08now. If you need me 10 years from
- 22:09now, I'm still going to be here. So whatever you need, call me.
- 22:13There's no hard feelings. I respect you and I love you and
- 22:16I want you to be safe. And that was it.
- 22:20And then she replied with I'm sorry if I hadn't told you I
- 22:25wouldn't if I wish I hadn't caused this.
- 22:27She felt like it was her fault, like he really made her.
- 22:29Feel like it was her fault. So she apologized.
- 22:32She said, I'm sorry I told you and it's my fault that you know,
- 22:36we're no longer able to be friends.
- 22:38And I said, don't you dare take the blame for this.
- 22:41Everybody needs a friend. Listen, Jesus wept when his
- 22:45friend died. Everybody needs a friend.
- 22:47And you sharing with me and me sharing my heart with you is
- 22:51nothing wrong. There's no gossip.
- 22:53I didn't tell the world I capture secret as you asked me.
- 22:56But I'm still here and there's nothing wrong.
- 22:59You know, let's. Go back to before we get into
- 23:03the final months of of Micah's life.
- 23:06My. Phone's at 5%.
- 23:10Is there any mental illness? From Micah.
- 23:15Yeah. Did you see anything?
- 23:18Did you see? Anything in 2019?
- 23:21In 2020, she would talk a lot about mental illness.
- 23:25Her mental illness 2021, not super heavily, was just like
- 23:29something she she had when she had the surgery and she'll
- 23:36vaguely talk about it. When 21 and 22 hit, she was
- 23:40heavily talking about it. And there was times that I would
- 23:45meet with her and she was so medicated that she was not
- 23:48herself. And I told Ricky that, too.
- 23:51I said, I don't know what's going on with her medicine, but
- 23:54this is not right. I don't feel like I'm talking to
- 23:56Micah. Like, it started getting really
- 23:59heavy, really strange. And I asked her, I said, Micah,
- 24:02are you feeling OK? And she said yeah.
- 24:04And I said, something seems different.
- 24:07Is everything OK? Like, did you change the
- 24:09medication? She's like, yeah, we've been
- 24:12trying to figure out the dosage. And and when she said that, that
- 24:15was again, like, why are you figuring out the dosage?
- 24:18It's not your job. That's that's you know, I said,
- 24:20are you talking to a doctor? She said, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 24:23We got it working now. John Paul's got everything
- 24:25worked out. But did you ever see Micah in
- 24:29any source sort of psychotic break?
- 24:34Never. I never witnessed any psychotic
- 24:36break, any psychotic behavior. Matter of fact, I witnessed
- 24:40someone who actually had a lot of willpower and self strength
- 24:44because she restrained herself a lot.
- 24:48Based on everything she went through.
- 24:50She put up with a lot. Out of everything she told me, I
- 24:54think she had a lot of strength and power in her face.
- 25:00She was driven and she was hurting.
- 25:06Let's talk about some of the conversations you and Micah had.
- 25:12I don't think this next part is much of a surprise, but Micah
- 25:16told you also that if something happens to her, it wasn't her.
- 25:25Is that right? Yes, so on.
- 25:29I'm going to plug my phone in because I'm afraid it's going to
- 25:31die. Is it?
- 25:32OK, go ahead, take take a moment do that.
- 25:35No, no, no. You're OK.
- 25:38It took my charger sorry, sorry on can you hear me?
- 25:46Yeah, you're good. OK, good.
- 25:48On March of 2024, I believe, she told my husband and I she was
- 25:57staying that weekend with me. This is when we were finding a
- 26:01lot of the a lot of the trackers on her car.
- 26:10She will come over, pull her car in my garage.
- 26:12We will go through it. I have the pictures.
- 26:15We all, we, her brother and her, you know, to come to the police
- 26:18and everything but. She was staying at our house
- 26:22that. Weekend.
- 26:23We went out that night. We came back home.
- 26:26It's about 11:30. We're sitting in the counter
- 26:29talking and she said she's talking about John Paul and
- 26:33everything. Of course, the tracker, we just
- 26:35took the razor blades, you know, and, and I told her, I said,
- 26:41what if we bought a ticket and you go to Kansas?
- 26:44So I don't even have my ID, I'm going to have to drive there.
- 26:47You know, she's like, and if I get pulled over, who's going to
- 26:50go bail me out? And she said this laughing, and
- 26:53that's why I laughed, because in her mind it's like.
- 26:56Who's got family out, you know? And then she said, you know, she
- 27:01said she she heard from someone who was attending the church.
- 27:04This is how she started. She said someone was attending
- 27:08his last service on Sunday and he spoke from the pulpit.
- 27:12He said that I'm crazy, that I stole money from the church,
- 27:15that I bought a car with the money from the church.
- 27:19She's like, I literally don't even have money for a
- 27:21toothbrush. I'm coming here using your
- 27:23makeup, your stuff, like I'm using Diana's stuff.
- 27:27And she's like, he's defaming me.
- 27:29And he is going to tell everybody that I'm crazy.
- 27:32He's going to put a bullet in my head.
- 27:34I'm going to show up, ditch, show up dead in a ditch
- 27:36somewhere. And he's going to say that I
- 27:40killed myself. And he's going to blame it.
- 27:42He's going to say that I killed myself.
- 27:45And then she even said she said, and now I did my testimony in
- 27:48Africa and I know he's going to use that against me.
- 27:51You know, this conversation didn't end there.
- 27:52We continue talking for another 3 hours about this topic.
- 27:56And she was scared. She was Bruna.
- 27:58I want to live. And I asked her.
- 28:00So here is what people don't realize.
- 28:02But this day I asked her, I said, Micah, do you want to die?
- 28:06I said, are you do you have any feelings like that?
- 28:09Like you, you said that you once did because she said she once
- 28:13did have it and tried and and that was her testimony and she
- 28:17said no Bruna, I want to live. I want to live.
- 28:21That's why I left John Paul because I want to live and that
- 28:24was not living. So it was extremely horrific,
- 28:29you know, hearing that, you know, when she said that, she
- 28:33held my hand, she looked in my eyes.
- 28:35We both cried like I want to live.
- 28:37She repeated that like 3 times and because it was imagined.
- 28:41Guys, we're in the heat of this conversation.
- 28:43Your friend is going through the worst trial of her life.
- 28:46Literally every day of her life she's going through have to
- 28:50prove. Herself.
- 28:51Proof that who she is, you know, everything she's doing is wrong.
- 28:56You know, she bought a car with her money, she got a job, you
- 29:00know, like, And it was so hard to witness all of that.
- 29:04And it was such an emotional conversation for us that I had
- 29:07to ask because I didn't want a question in my heart.
- 29:10But it was very horrific. After she passed, I, I call
- 29:14Robinson County. I emailed them the very day
- 29:17Sunday or Monday and I never got a reply.
- 29:23Never got any reply. And I want to, you know, you
- 29:27said something there that she was staying with you guys for
- 29:30that weekend and whatnot, and you guys were helping her with
- 29:32the trackers and, and, and slash tires.
- 29:35A lot of people say, you know, where was Micah's support
- 29:38system? And, and I want to remind people
- 29:40at this time, she had a ton of people like yourself helping her
- 29:46during this time. And, and and that's in my
- 29:50opinion, brings up why would she do this to herself when she had
- 29:54the biggest support system? That she's ever had.
- 29:58That's right. That she's ever had.
- 30:00She literally put that whole army together herself.
- 30:03Yep. And so I would never, I've, I
- 30:09would never believe that she took her life.
- 30:12You don't think? You don't think?
- 30:15Is that her in the 911 call? Yes.
- 30:19It is her. I think it is.
- 30:22I've become. I've come to accept that it is
- 30:25whether I don't think he was recorded there is too quiet.
- 30:29The park is very loud. I walked that whole park.
- 30:32There's birds everywhere. You hear people, you know, like
- 30:35on a Saturday, it's busy. It's not like New York busy, but
- 30:39it's busy and you hear everything you saw in the my
- 30:41videos. You can hear the birds.
- 30:43So I don't think he was there. But I think she was forced, of
- 30:47course, somehow to read that. And you know how I know?
- 30:50Because when she says when she says she wants her family to
- 30:53find her, she releases like an anguish, you know what I mean?
- 30:57Like she's afraid that they won't find her.
- 31:00If she was going to commit, she would have planned it in a place
- 31:04that they would find her. She would need to make this
- 31:06call. Think about it.
- 31:09She would need to make this call.
- 31:10I want my family to know where to find me.
- 31:12She'll make sure it was in a foundable place.
- 31:15And so that's why it doesn't, I really think she was coerced.
- 31:21And she would have because if she stay in the church to
- 31:24protect 600 adults of their faith and their heart, and she
- 31:28endure all the abuse, physically, emotionally,
- 31:33psychologically, sexually, sexually, for the faith of
- 31:40those. If someone had threatened to
- 31:43hurt her sisters or to hurt her niece or anybody that she loved,
- 31:48even Diana, she loved Diana. She would have done anything to
- 31:52keep him safe. That's the mic.
- 31:54I know. That's the friend she was.
- 31:59In the 911 call does does she sound drugged or anything like
- 32:03that? She sounds not herself like she
- 32:06did when she was taking medicine earlier.
- 32:10Like I mentioned, she sounds like that.
- 32:12You know she does. She sounds like that.
- 32:16So you believe that there was someone there with her that day?
- 32:20Who? I believe between the gas
- 32:22station and the park, something happened, Something happened and
- 32:29between that a call was made and Micah's body was found where it
- 32:33was found. I want to jump to and and and
- 32:39one of the first people to tell me that Micah was proficient in
- 32:43weapons is you and her would actually go to the gun range
- 32:46you. This whole thing that John Paul
- 32:49says I did everything for seven years to stop her from getting a
- 32:52gun is simply false. It is it is because she.
- 32:57Came to me on a Sunday morning. With him, she said.
- 33:00Bruna. This is, I said, OK, she's like,
- 33:03I want to go shoot it. Can you can you take me and
- 33:05Bruna and John Paul was right next to her.
- 33:08She even looked up at him and said, what are we doing
- 33:10Wednesday? Can I go Wednesday?
- 33:12And he's like, actually Wednesday.
- 33:15Wednesday is women can shoot for free.
- 33:17So if you guys can make it Wednesday even better.
- 33:19I'll bring the bullets. You don't have to pay anything.
- 33:23So she's like, great, let's do it. 1030 jump.
- 33:26I was like OK don't forgot we got lunch with blah blah blah,
- 33:29whatever they had planned and we went shooting.
- 33:33I had capped the targets from her.
- 33:39I have it. I cried so hard when I found it.
- 33:42I didn't even, you know, like you keep those things from your
- 33:44friend and you don't realize one day they won't be here.
- 33:47And then you just want to hug this paper like it's.
- 33:51Yeah. Did she tell you about the
- 33:54weapon that John Paul gave her when they were separated right
- 33:59before her death? About the weapon in the box that
- 34:02we saw in the documentary. Yes, she very briefly, because
- 34:07there's so much going on. I think I just remember the only
- 34:13reason I remember is because I think she said she gave it to
- 34:15her brother and she just kept saying Bruna.
- 34:18I just gave it to my brother. I don't know what he wants.
- 34:20I just Nate has it. Nate has it like because we
- 34:23weren't you know, again, we both have aid AGD, so that's
- 34:26something we share. So when she talks, she talk like
- 34:28this, she get hyper excited and and or nervous or anxious.
- 34:32And she would say, well, a lot more, a lot more graceful,
- 34:36gracefully. I don't think Micah was so
- 34:38patient, but she was saying, Oh, I just gave it to Nate.
- 34:41Can you believe he said, Can you believe you would give me that?
- 34:44Like what is wrong with Nate has it?
- 34:46I don't want to think about it, you know, like and so I don't
- 34:49remember the daytime of what happened, but I do remember her
- 34:53saying that she got it. And I do remember her saying
- 34:56that she had she passed it on. Did she say why she thought John
- 35:01Paul gave it to her? I think that day he gave her the
- 35:04gun, he was definitely insinuating and you know, trying
- 35:12to, you know, when a narcissist triggers you to the point where
- 35:18you explode and then you look crazy.
- 35:22So I feel like rage bait is what he was doing to her often.
- 35:27And so and then he will rage bait her and then drop her with
- 35:30these things and and kind of let her figure out, you know, like,
- 35:35oh, here's a tracker, here's a thing on your car, here's this
- 35:39and then let her figure out the outcome of the events.
- 35:42But yes, I think she gave it to Nate so she would never have
- 35:46access to it and he could never tie her to jump out in this
- 35:49whole situation. Her goal is to keep her name
- 35:53clear out of any problems. Why do you think she went to the
- 35:57park that day? Why do you think she bought a
- 35:59weapon and went to the park that day?
- 36:02I believe that was something that John Paul had perhaps
- 36:07pictures and videos of her. It's my belief she struggled
- 36:13with that a lot. And that's one of the things
- 36:14that he used against her. This is personal stuff that they
- 36:20did in their marital bedroom. And so and he recorded it and he
- 36:26and he held those things above her head.
- 36:28And, and one of the times actually, I remember her saying,
- 36:33actually she was crying with me on the beach.
- 36:35And she said the one time when he posted her picture online,
- 36:40when she found out we were together, she's like, can you
- 36:44meet them? Like yes.
- 36:45And she just cry the entire time.
- 36:48She's like, I would never be able to worship.
- 36:50I said, you know that's not true.
- 36:52You and I know that's not true. And and she said he's going to
- 36:56ruin my image. And she was so distraught.
- 37:00And he told her, once I'm done with you, no church will take
- 37:03you. So he was threatening to expose
- 37:06everything to ruin her image so she could never attend church
- 37:10anywhere again or be able to worship again, which was her
- 37:14true heart. And so that really hurt her.
- 37:20That really hurt her. So I believe it was something
- 37:22like that, like like a drive with her pictures or maybe an
- 37:28old phone that she they had saved up to or something like
- 37:31that because she had cash too, right.
- 37:35And so I, I believe that that was something promised in
- 37:40exchange because that's what he did a lot.
- 37:43And, and not saying he was there because obviously they say that
- 37:46he was at a soccer game, but when they were separated, he
- 37:50would, oh, meet me here and then try to have a conversation to
- 37:53convince her back or have her meet with someone to try and
- 37:56convince her back. Well, let me let me ask you
- 37:59this. I meant to ask this early.
- 38:01Did she bring up the homeless people to you?
- 38:05She told me about it. Yeah, that's and actually she
- 38:08said that's why he never attended your services, cause he
- 38:12didn't know who's going to run into because I served the
- 38:14homeless, gave him food, gave him clothes, you know, and I was
- 38:17inviting him to come out. And I thought strange that he
- 38:20never did. He never once did, never cared
- 38:23for Micah had been everybody in the church had at least attended
- 38:27once, and he, as the pastor, didn't didn't care to.
- 38:33So so. Yeah.
- 38:42You know, somebody said to me the other day, one of the
- 38:44questions that we got asked a lot when we went out was whose
- 38:47church are you from? That's exactly what the homeless
- 38:50would say. And one of the team members back
- 38:53then asked me, Can you imagine if somebody we were serving knew
- 38:57JP and knew everything he was doing, yet we were there serving
- 39:00them with the logo of the shirt, you know?
- 39:04And I said, God, I hope to God know because we have a lot of
- 39:08explaining to do. Like none of us knew and we're
- 39:11here, you know? Think about this.
- 39:12This is. Disgusting.
- 39:13This is not a man of God. This is no way a man of God.
- 39:19It's. It's pure evil itself.
- 39:25I want people to understand something because there there's
- 39:28a, there's a separate story to this whole thing that I'm not
- 39:32going to reveal just yet that involves other people and
- 39:34homeless people. And, and I, I want to put people
- 39:38in the position of the homeless person.
- 39:41You're willing to do whatever for a buck.
- 39:46Is that fair, Bruno? Yeah, absolutely.
- 39:50That's absolutely what I want people to understand and and
- 39:53there's a reason why I'm saying that because you're going to
- 39:56hear a lot more in the future what I mean by that, but I just.
- 40:05I just can't fathom, not as a husband doing that to your wife,
- 40:10but then as a pastor. She cried really hard.
- 40:13That was, I still have a hard time talking about that because
- 40:17I think that was one of the things that hurt the most 'cause
- 40:22she said that she said. I just I scrubbed my body until
- 40:27it was red almost to the point of bleeding and I still couldn't
- 40:30feel clean. And I held her so tight and, and
- 40:36she I just let her cry. I just let her cry.
- 40:43And I told her you should never feel like that ever again
- 40:45because this is not this is not God.
- 40:49God says love your wife as I love the church that I died for
- 40:57Mike. That was an amazing woman.
- 40:59Strong woman. I'm sorry, you know, you know
- 41:11what I mean. And I'm not congratulating her
- 41:16on this abuse. I'm congratulating her on not
- 41:20actually being responding to him in the same level, you know,
- 41:25like she could have. I mean, there's cases out there
- 41:28of women who end up murdering their husbands for much less.
- 41:31So like, seriously, like she really was trying to get out.
- 41:35She really wanted to just be free after all this horrible
- 41:39things. She just wanted to serve, go out
- 41:41and be free. Like she could have gone after
- 41:43anything else. And that was not her heart.
- 41:45Bruna, is there anything else you want to share?
- 41:50Yeah, I think the only thing I would like to share is this.
- 42:00Micah was going through abuse for years, and she believed that
- 42:05was her place because God, God, God call her to it until God
- 42:12spoke to her heart and show her the truth.
- 42:14This is not her place. And then she started fighting
- 42:17for freedom. She wrote letters.
- 42:19She had it for David. She called the police.
- 42:22She tried in every way to get away from him.
- 42:25And then she finally told me that he was going to put a
- 42:27bullet on her head and make it look like a suicide.
- 42:32And she also put that on her affidavit.
- 42:34I believe she told other people too.
- 42:37Nobody was listening them. I really, if anybody's
- 42:42listening, when are we going to take action?
- 42:44Like when are we going to believe her?
- 42:45Like she's already not here anymore.
- 42:47When are we going to believe her?
- 42:49We still going to believe the abuser over the victim.
- 42:54We're still going to do that after her passing.
- 42:56You know, that's the question I think of often.
- 43:03I just wanted to share that my, my heart and my prayer is that
- 43:08the church would stay strong, that y'all would stick together
- 43:12because the church is God's people.
- 43:16It's not a man, it's not a person, it's not me.
- 43:20It's God's people, the bride of Christ.
- 43:24And there's a lot of really good, good people in, in the
- 43:29church that that I just hope would continue on, press toward
- 43:38the calling, run your race, stay encouraged, stay in your word,
- 43:44keep worshipping. Like I, I, I can't wait to
- 43:48worship again with everybody. But for now, I'm just worshiping
- 43:55with me and Jesus to God. And I don't think God would be
- 44:03pleased with me if I just jumped right into missions and women's
- 44:08events and creative directing and worship leading and stuff.
- 44:12I think when your world is shook up, you need to take a pause.
- 44:18And I can only pray that more people will take a pause and
- 44:23get, I'm trying to get my priorities straight right now
- 44:30and that's making sure that my heart doesn't have any
- 44:33unforgiveness, bitterness, resentment, just forgiveness and
- 44:39hope for the future and peace because you can't put a price on
- 44:45peace. Again, John Paul Miller denies
- 45:04everything. He denies everything that Micah
- 45:08accuses him of. He denies everything that every
- 45:11friend of Micah accuses him of. He denies everything that every
- 45:15past church member accuses him of.
- 45:18He denies everything that every past church member accuses him
- 45:21of. He denies everything that every
- 45:22alleged minor victim accuses him of.
- 45:25He denies all of this, and he's pleaded not guilty in his
- 45:31upcoming trial.
