- 0:00Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Three O Take where we talk
- 0:04all things Major League Baseball.
- 0:06Here's Kyle Corwin and Nate Reyes.
- 0:10It all starts right now. Welcome back to the Three O Take
- 0:16presented by Chinook Ceder E, this is episode 526.
- 0:19I'll be your host, Kyle Cord. I'm here with my Co host Nate
- 0:22Reyes. Nate, hello, Look, 'cause he's
- 0:32Italian, Was that a little? Was that?
- 0:34I'm like I am fully fully trapped in in the algorithm for
- 0:42those idiots. I'm all somehow they've ended
- 0:45like on my feed too. It makes no sense.
- 0:48Train wreck, but I cannot not watch 'cause he's have to watch.
- 0:54I have to watch. It's that guy and then the two
- 0:57Boston guys that run the deli and it's just.
- 1:01Hey, what are you sobbing? Get out of here.
- 1:04How you doing? How you doing stupid?
- 1:10I love it. You know how we are doing as
- 1:16good as we're doing. Not nearly as good as Laredito.
- 1:20Not nearly as good. Tell me about it nowhere near.
- 1:24Tell me about it. I know you got some thoughts.
- 1:26Let's I mean, let's let's let's get right into it.
- 1:29Let's talk about it. Vladdy junior mega deal from the
- 1:35clouds, which we were told that you know that we the deadline
- 1:43was a deadline and otherwise we're hitting the offseason,
- 1:47we're hitting free agency and then what, 2-3 weeks later, if
- 1:54that come on, I'm not I'm never dead.
- 1:58I'm not listening to this anymore when when people are
- 2:00like when these guys like no, I'm setting a hard cap.
- 2:04If if they want to talk to me about this after my deadline,
- 2:08it'll have to wait till the offseason.
- 2:10Otherwise I'm just focused on playing ball.
- 2:12You're not the one doing the negotiating.
- 2:14First of all, it's your agent. Second of all, clearly that
- 2:20holds no water because you just got a mega deal done.
- 2:24And you know what, good for you. And you and I made made note of
- 2:29one particular element of this deal that makes him look even
- 2:32smarter. So good, good for good for
- 2:35Vladdy. But the whole like, I'm no, no,
- 2:38no, it's going to I'm going to free agency.
- 2:40They if they want to talk, we can talk.
- 2:42They can talk to me with the other 29 teams.
- 2:45Oh, OK. All right.
- 2:48Sorry. What are your thoughts?
- 2:53Is it weird that I am like kind of disappointed?
- 3:02In what? In what regard?
- 3:04Because in a weird way, I kind of am too, but I haven't.
- 3:08Quite made sense yet. Like I kind of wanted that.
- 3:11Yeah, I kind of wanted that in a way.
- 3:16I I wanted to see where things would go, you know what I mean?
- 3:22Like, I think that number would have been significantly higher
- 3:27if the Mets would have been involved in discussions.
- 3:31I, I know genuinely do the Mets, I, I don't think the the Mets
- 3:36are going to be legitimate contenders.
- 3:37I, I really don't well, they're going to be contenders.
- 3:40OK, let me, let me walk. I think they were going to be
- 3:42legitimate contenders. I, I don't think that they were
- 3:46going to be ultimately the, the final landing spot.
- 3:48I, I genuinely, I don't think. I'm not saying that.
- 3:51I'm just saying that like, I wish I I wish you would have hit
- 3:54the market. I wish we could have seen a
- 3:58little bit of a battle and and I don't know, just I'm like, I,
- 4:04I'm in this weird place where like I'm just out on the Blue
- 4:08Jays and I it's just an odd let down.
- 4:14I can't really explain it. I can't really explain it.
- 4:18I don't know. I good for him, you know, but I
- 4:27just, I don't know, I'm just like somewhat kind of bummed in
- 4:30a way. And I guess like there, there is
- 4:35a little bit of like a silver lining, like if you can, because
- 4:39there was that chapter in this last offseason where you're
- 4:41like, Soto needs to just pick a spot and go that way.
- 4:47The rest of the league of rest of the dominoes of free agents
- 4:51can start to fall. You know what I mean?
- 4:54Then I guess we're probably avoiding that because I, I
- 4:57haven't looked at the next class, but like I think there's
- 4:59a significant drop off in the next offseason of when it comes
- 5:05to massive contracts for free agents.
- 5:07I don't think we're going to have anyone in this
- 5:09neighborhood. Kyle Tucker maybe when we can
- 5:17get into that a little bit, but I don't I don't see Kyle Tucker
- 5:21as like AI think he's really good, but I don't see I don't
- 5:28see him in the same neighborhood financially maybe.
- 5:31So I guess we've maybe avoided like that annoying few weeks of
- 5:34everyone holding their breath and waiting for that that domino
- 5:39to fall. But like, I don't know, I'm just
- 5:40kind of. That's not annoying.
- 5:41We, I mean, we, we eat that stuff up, but after a while it
- 5:44gets a little old but. There is an expiration date to
- 5:47it. And but I don't think I, I
- 5:51legitimately don't think he was going to.
- 5:55I mean, it would have been negligible.
- 6:00The difference I, I think like I do you, you really think the
- 6:04price would have been that that jacked up had he gone free
- 6:07agency? I I I just don't think it would
- 6:10have I. Think it would have?
- 6:13I think it would have had to have taken a monumental year
- 6:16this year for that to be the case.
- 6:20I think if he has the same year as last year, it would have
- 6:24been, it would have gone up. I just, I, I think that other
- 6:28teams would have driven that price up a little bit.
- 6:30I'm not saying anything crazy. I don't know if it gets over
- 6:32600. Yeah, but but 5. 556570.
- 6:37Like, but like we talked about how many teams are were
- 6:40realistically going to be in the mix.
- 6:42I mean, you got to think Red Sox, based on their involvement
- 6:46in the Soto sweepstakes, the Mets, the Blue Jays obviously
- 6:52were going to be in the mix. Yankees.
- 6:55Giants. Yankees again, I'm I'm with you
- 6:59on that. I think that was nothing more
- 7:00than than than lip service to to try to get the the.
- 7:04Price, that's what I'm saying is that like some of these teams
- 7:08would have done that naturally the IT would have, it would have
- 7:11at least got to the point. And I, I would say that's
- 7:14probably a part of the motivation that the Blue Jays
- 7:17had to get this done before he actually hit the market.
- 7:22Like, don't even allow other guys to flirt with your girl.
- 7:25You know what I'm saying? Like, don't even allow that.
- 7:29That's your girl locked down. I mean, to be fair, from what
- 7:34from what reports came through, it sounds like the Blue Jays
- 7:38were they're cleaning the house, they're doing the laundry,
- 7:42taking, taking them out to dinner, multiple, not just
- 7:46Friday night, but like every night of the weekend and and an
- 7:49occasional weeknight, you know, going out and getting her hair
- 7:53cut every couple weeks. She getting spoiled man.
- 7:56And it didn't sound like didn't sound like like Vladdy was was
- 8:01all that interested in in reciprocating.
- 8:04At least that's that's the posture that that he took.
- 8:07But. The dinero talks.
- 8:10I'm, I go back to the last episode that we talked about
- 8:16Vladdy when reports came out that the Blue Jays were still
- 8:22interested in in continuing the conversation end of the season
- 8:26despite his, you know, hard deadline.
- 8:31And we talked about it. We're like, this is exactly what
- 8:33he wanted. This is exactly the the position
- 8:36that he wanted to take that that he wanted to put himself in so
- 8:40that the Blue Jays are like, no, Vladdy, we know we missed your
- 8:44deadline, but like, don't leave us, please.
- 8:46We need you here. We need somebody here.
- 8:48Can you be that somebody and he's over there, you know, I'll
- 8:53talk to the Yankees. I'll I'll listen to anybody that
- 8:56wants to talk in the offseason, OK, This is exactly what he
- 9:00wanted. And I think for me at least, I
- 9:02won't speak for you. But for me, that was a little
- 9:04bit of a turning point where I'm going, you know, this literally
- 9:11this whole time up until that point.
- 9:13I genuinely believed, and I said it on here, that I did not think
- 9:17he wanted to be in Toronto and I listed out all the reasons why
- 9:21and I believe that up until the point. 2 days ago.
- 9:27Well, no, that's, but that's what I'm saying.
- 9:28When the Blue Jays came out and said that's, you know, we're
- 9:32going to continue this conversation, it didn't seem
- 9:34like there was much blowback from Vladdy that he seemed like
- 9:38he was all right with it at that point.
- 9:40I'm like, OK, this was all just a game.
- 9:41This was just a negotiation tactic.
- 9:45And you know, we, we get fooled into believing these things more
- 9:49often than not. But I just, I just, I looked at
- 9:51the situation in Toronto, I looked at what appeared to be
- 9:57just like a general dissatisfaction.
- 10:01I don't know, like he, he seems to be in good spirits with the
- 10:03Jays, but I just, I feel like he wanted something more.
- 10:07He wanted something different. He wanted to be in a different
- 10:09environment. And then when the contract news
- 10:12broke, I'm going, OK, well, clearly he wanted to be here
- 10:16more, more than I thought. And how much of that is driven
- 10:21by the dollar amount, I don't know.
- 10:22I'd be curious to find out. I mean, well, I would say dollar
- 10:27amount. And we kind of talked about this
- 10:31with like Soto finding his landing spot where there's not
- 10:35necessarily like a shadow, you know what I mean?
- 10:40Like there's not really a shadow in Toronto.
- 10:44Like what? Who?
- 10:47Who's their biggest name of all time?
- 10:54I mean, by the end of this, it very well could be him.
- 10:57It's going to be him. Like, if they're like, if you
- 10:59were telling me who's going to who deserves to have a statue
- 11:06and in front of the state, like you can't.
- 11:10Joe Carter had a pretty cool moment in the early 90s.
- 11:14Like, you have nobody. You know what I'm saying?
- 11:16Like, don't get me wrong. Great players have come through
- 11:19Toronto and there's been, you know, little stints of success
- 11:24for multiple players. No some, some since longer than
- 11:28others, but I, I. Get but like there there hasn't
- 11:30been like this like monumental Hall of Famer.
- 11:37We're like he's a blue Jay. He's our guy.
- 11:40So as much as we name these other teams that would have
- 11:44potentially been in on him this offseason, a lot of shadows.
- 11:51So I think there is a level to that.
- 11:54I think I you know, maybe it's not just about the dollar
- 11:57amount. I think they checked his boxes
- 11:59financially clearly, but I think there's also a level of like,
- 12:04there's a clear path for me to be remembered as Mr. Blue Jay.
- 12:14I guess, and that's kind of, I mean, not the same conversation
- 12:18because with the Mets it's, it's a a good bit different in terms
- 12:22of who like the that you're talking about.
- 12:24There's more names, but like, there's still the potential to
- 12:27be at the top. But even with that, like when we
- 12:29were talking about the same situation with Soto, like you're
- 12:31not going to be in the shadow of of the Yankees.
- 12:34And even currently speaking, you're not going to be in the
- 12:36shadow of Judge if you go elsewhere.
- 12:37So it's like, OK, maybe that's the case with Soto, but I think
- 12:42with Soto is very clearly driven by the dollar amount and
- 12:47everything else that came with it.
- 12:48Sweet shopping allowance and and the like.
- 12:55But with Vladdy, I just do you do you really think it had it,
- 13:01it carried that much weight because I like I hear you.
- 13:04That's a that's a completely valid reason to stay.
- 13:07But how much of it was the case for Vladdy?
- 13:11Because I'm going, is it worth it to lock myself in here
- 13:15essentially for the rest of my career, for the next, what, 14
- 13:20years, just so I can walk out of here?
- 13:28I mean, assuming everything goes goes as planned, Mr. Blue Jay.
- 13:34I think it's a part to it. I don't know what percentage I
- 13:37would give it, but I think it is involved in the decision.
- 13:44Otherwise, you knew he knew his number, you know what I'm
- 13:46saying? Like he knew his number and he
- 13:47knew that somebody was going to match that this offseason, you
- 13:51know, So it's like, all right, I'm here, Toronto matched it.
- 13:56They made this work and I've got a clear line of sight to be
- 14:03remembered this way. It's pretty neat.
- 14:08It's pretty neat. And the fact that they were
- 14:10willing to work with this signing bonus, which is a huge,
- 14:16interesting feature to this whole thing.
- 14:22I don't know how it necessarily affects the team.
- 14:26Seems like it works the same way.
- 14:28Seems like it's like when you look up the contract, it's still
- 14:34a luxury tax hit if they're over that luxury tax threshold, you
- 14:38know, still gets thrown down as the 37 one.
- 14:44Is that what it is? All right, so here's Here's the
- 14:47breakdown of the structure. According to the Athletics Ken
- 14:50Rosenthal, the Blue Jays will pay 325 million of the deal to
- 14:54Guerrero in a signing bonus, while the remaining 175,000,000
- 14:58will be paid in salary. Rosenthal also added that both
- 15:02the signing bonus and the salary quote will be distributed in
- 15:06varying annual amounts over the 14 year term of the deal.
- 15:11Let me see here. While a $325 million signing
- 15:17bonus is pretty much unheard of in the world of sports,
- 15:20Rosenthal explained that the move keeps Guerrero's impact on
- 15:23the team spending at a relatively low figure.
- 15:26Barrero's annual luxury tax hit will be 35.71 million.
- 15:32So it works the same way for the team.
- 15:33But what's nice is man's lives in Florida.
- 15:41It doesn't. Doesn't have any income tax for
- 15:44that, so. Guerrero resides in Florida, a
- 15:47state with no income tax. By converting 65% of his $500
- 15:51million deal into a signing bonus, he will presumably save
- 15:55millions from avoiding state taxes.
- 15:58Millions. That's millions.
- 16:02That's nice. That's a good little perk.
- 16:04And who knows, maybe other teams.
- 16:07There's just I love that aspect to it.
- 16:10I got to be honest, I know we throw a lot of shade around like
- 16:13the show. Hey, contract.
- 16:15Like it's such a unique thing to see this.
- 16:20I don't recognize this in any other sport.
- 16:25Like there's so many little Nuggets that you can toss into
- 16:28baseball contracts, you know, and it's fun.
- 16:31It's like it's cool. It's just different.
- 16:33It's neat. Like basketball is super boring.
- 16:37There's just like the it's already a calculated Max
- 16:40contract offer. There's no negotiation.
- 16:44You want to give him a Max, Here's the Max.
- 16:46That's the number. You don't, you don't, right?
- 16:51This is like unique, like sprinkle a little this in, give
- 16:55me a little that a little dash of this.
- 16:59It's very customizable. It's neat.
- 17:01I like that. I do have a geography question,
- 17:04by the way, that's really tugging at my my mind today.
- 17:07You want to put me on a spot with a geography question?
- 17:09Yeah, we got. So you by the way, I I crushed
- 17:15in geography in school like that was that was one of my strong
- 17:18suits. I think it's, I think it's the
- 17:20East Coast thing. I think we do well specifically
- 17:24around like American geography. Knowing geography is an East
- 17:27Coast thing. No.
- 17:28What? Like if you ask people out here,
- 17:31like specifically my wife, not to throw her under the bus, but
- 17:34throw her under the bus, she couldn't for the life of her
- 17:37like line up like Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware,
- 17:42like she doesn't know that area. She's like, I can't do it at
- 17:46this age. Currently.
- 17:47Current moment. Yeah.
- 17:49And I'm like, I got the East Coast down.
- 17:53I got that down. Give me the 13 colonies.
- 17:55I got it down. I know where they are.
- 17:58Any who's many years, yeah. That's tough.
- 18:01That's a tough. Ricochet I would I would pay for
- 18:04that later, but she ain't listening.
- 18:05We may What's your? Geography question.
- 18:10Well, so you know, there's like like names can change depending
- 18:17on like the language of the, the native language of that country,
- 18:22right. So for example, John here would
- 18:27be Juan sure in Spanish speaking countries, right?
- 18:34How where do we land with like how does how does Vladimir work
- 18:40both in Russia the same as it does in Dominican Republic.
- 18:49How do you know what I mean? Like give me another Russian
- 18:55name that just slides on in to Spanish speaking countries.
- 19:02I think it's a very valid question and it's been it's been
- 19:06on my mind today. I'm trying to look it up.
- 19:11I don't know how. You look that up, I guess
- 19:12there's Vladimir. People like, how does that work?
- 19:15Like we don't. You're just telling me that
- 19:18works perfectly in both countries with a.
- 19:23I mean a. Different language.
- 19:24I think some names just they don't change the name is the
- 19:28name. I don't like that.
- 19:32I don't like it either, but you know, he's got 500,000,000
- 19:36reasons to be OK with his current life set up so I think
- 19:40he'll deal. You ever look at players with
- 19:43let's just like just specifically their first name
- 19:45and you're like, it doesn't fit. You ever do that?
- 19:50Yeah. You're just like.
- 19:52It just doesn't. It doesn't.
- 19:53That's not you. Like if you look at Aaron Judge
- 19:57and Judge isn't his last name. You just look at him as like
- 20:00Aaron, you're like. Not an Aaron.
- 20:02Not an Aaron. Not a Vladimir, not a.
- 20:05Vladimir that doesn't work. Doesn't work.
- 20:09All right, So the question here that ultimately needs to be
- 20:12answered, will the Blue Jays regret this deal?
- 20:19Again, it is a 14 year, $500 million contract.
- 20:28I may surprise you with this. I'm going to say no.
- 20:34Yeah, no, because this, because mega deals work out all the
- 20:37time, definitely. Here's here's my reasoning.
- 20:40Here's my reasoning. Obviously you're not going to
- 20:46get that production on the back end.
- 20:47You're probably getting 7-8 years Max of like part of the
- 20:58order quality, cornerstone, power hitter type numbers,
- 21:05right? And then the back end is like,
- 21:08yeah, it's definitely going to hurt.
- 21:09But my difference is when it's your franchise guy and he's only
- 21:17worn your uniform, I think it's a little different.
- 21:22I think it holds more weight. And you and I have always rooted
- 21:25for guys that stick around. We always like guys that keep
- 21:30the same uni on. And when you're talking about
- 21:36the the amount of revenue that the Blue Jays are going to pull
- 21:39in because of him and you're going to talk about like the
- 21:44amount of young fans that are going to grow up watching him
- 21:48and him being his their favorite player and going to games and
- 21:52having his jersey on. And like all of that carries
- 21:55over. All of that is like a
- 21:58generational player. And I'm not saying generational
- 22:02talent, like you only get one of these guys and once in a
- 22:05generation. I'm talking about a generational
- 22:08player for that fan base. That player is their favorite
- 22:13player. And we're talking about a long
- 22:15period of time. I think there's a lot of revenue
- 22:18that comes with that. I think it says something of
- 22:21like, we're paying you for what you've done so far.
- 22:24We're paying you for what you're going to do, and we're paying
- 22:27you for the legacy you're going to leave for our franchise.
- 22:30And when you talk about other teams vis A vis Angels signing
- 22:38Albert Pujols for all of the work he's done as a Saint Louis
- 22:41Cardinal, it's like that doesn't hit the same way.
- 22:44And it is going to have a stench towards the end of that
- 22:47contract. This is like no stench.
- 22:51This our guy. He's always been our guy.
- 22:53He's always going to be our guy. And then, I don't know, they
- 22:58swing in this so many times on so many different players.
- 23:01They finally did it. That's nice, That's nice.
- 23:04You talk about there not being essential.
- 23:07What the stench is going to be is when Vladdy is trying to be
- 23:13generous here, when Vladdy's. I give him the 35.
- 23:17I literally that was the number that was in my head when
- 23:19Vladdy's 35 and it has a lot completely lost the the limited
- 23:25athleticism that he has. And we're essentially looking at
- 23:29yet another. And I honestly, I feel kind of
- 23:32you talk about stench. I feel kind of gross even making
- 23:35this comparison because they're not in the same league.
- 23:37But when we get to a stage of Vladdy Junior's career where
- 23:40we're looking at a Miggy situation where it's like we're
- 23:44just rolling this guy out here, but you know, you're good for
- 23:47the legacy and like, you'll have a statue here, like, and that's
- 23:51Mickey. That's one of the greatest
- 23:54hitters we've ever seen. And I like of this generation.
- 23:57I think really ever, but I think the better comp would be would
- 24:00be big Poppy because I think the power numbers are better than
- 24:07Mickey. I think the power numbers will
- 24:09end up being better than Mickey. I think the I think, I think
- 24:13he's a better hitter. I think he'll go down as a
- 24:17better hitter, but I don't see power dropping for him.
- 24:22And what we saw Big Poppy do in his late 30s, I think that's
- 24:27something that's still doable for a Vladdy.
- 24:34You could still see 3035 home run type years I mean.
- 24:37Dude, Miggy, OK, You want me to? Read You lost all pop.
- 24:41No, no, no. You want me to read you Miggy's
- 24:44numbers from 2004 his first full season to we'll take it to 2014
- 24:55like 10-11 year span. Home run totals
- 24:583333263437343830. Oh, and then in 20/12/44 LED all
- 25:09of Baseball 44 the next year. Triple Crown year, I think,
- 25:12right? 25 yeah, that was a Triple Crown
- 25:15year, but I mean, you're, you're telling me Vladdy is that's not
- 25:29a a good comp in terms of production from the power side
- 25:33of things. And again, that's Mickey.
- 25:37That's one of the best. 4 Why do you think he'll produce more?
- 25:45Let's hop over to. How many has he had so far?
- 25:48Where's what's? What's the comp there?
- 25:52Let's hop over to to Vladi's page here.
- 25:55Vladito. He put up 48 in 202132 in
- 26:0020/22/26 in 2023 and 30 last year.
- 26:09I think it's a good comp. I hear you.
- 26:11I just say I'm thinking of the body type.
- 26:13I'm thinking of the the violence of his swing.
- 26:18Miggy didn't have to try majority of his career right
- 26:24where it was just like it was kind of effortless.
- 26:26He ran into balls and they ended up leaving the yard.
- 26:29I think he's a more complete hitter.
- 26:31I think he's a better hitter. I think Mickey is a top five
- 26:34right-handed hitter of all time. Will Vladdy be that?
- 26:38I don't think so. But power wise and controlled
- 26:44violence of a swing. That's what makes me think big
- 26:48Poppy, are the average numbers going to go down?
- 26:54Absolutely. Are the on base numbers probably
- 26:58going to go down? Absolutely.
- 27:01I think that the power numbers stay consistent longer because
- 27:05read the What are the last 5-6 years for Mickey?
- 27:13In terms of home runs, yeah 20/19 he had 12/20/20 Shortened
- 27:21season 10/20/20, 1:15, 2020, 2/5/2020. 3-4 That's what I'm
- 27:29saying. I don't think that fall off is
- 27:31going to be as crazy for Vlad. That's a big fall off.
- 27:35I just don't see it. This guy's going to be a full
- 27:37time DH by that point, and he's going to let the body go and
- 27:43just be mass, just be thick old mass.
- 27:50I guess I don't know and look at the.
- 27:52Body type. Look at the body type of where
- 27:54Mickey started. Sure.
- 27:56You know what I'm saying? Yeah, I'm just look at the body
- 28:00type of Larito when he started. I'm just saying I'd I just don't
- 28:04think I see the HMOL because it's.
- 28:06It's keep the receipts. We'll visit this, we'll run this
- 28:09back in 14. Years.
- 28:10How many mega deals have worked out?
- 28:12That's what it I'm not. Saying it works out.
- 28:14I'm not saying it works out. I'm not saying I'm not saying
- 28:18that. They're saying that they're not.
- 28:19It's not going to work out necessarily, but you're saying
- 28:22they won't regret it. Is that what you're saying?
- 28:23Yes. Yes, I'm saying there's no
- 28:25regret behind signing your your guy, your statue.
- 28:29Like there's no regret to committing to that because what
- 28:32he's done, what he's going to do, and what the legacy is going
- 28:36to leave. I think it's all worth the
- 28:38money. But that conversation only
- 28:41happens if it's your guy wearing the same uniform the whole time.
- 28:45If you again using the analogy of the Angels bringing Albert
- 28:50Pujols over, it's like, no, you just paid him for everything he
- 28:54did wearing a different uniform. No one's going to remember
- 28:57Albert Pujols as an Angel when it's all said and done right?
- 29:01He's a cardinal. He should have stayed a.
- 29:03Cardinal. I mean they would for the they
- 29:04will for the wrong reasons. For the wrong reasons, right?
- 29:07So I would say there's a good contract for the Blue Jays.
- 29:16It's clearly good for Vladimir Guerrero junior and good for
- 29:19Vladimir Guerrero junior, junior, junior and all the
- 29:23juniors. That's true that's generational
- 29:25that's that's that's big, big life changing money they're.
- 29:29Trying to stay positive, man, Trying to.
- 29:31Good for you man, good for you now.
- 29:33Let's save this receipt. We'll come back to this in 14
- 29:36years, 14. Years.
- 29:37Yeah, I'll make a note of it. I'll set a reminder in my phone.
- 29:42He'll be 40, by the way, at the end of that contract, so.
- 29:45Yeah, I think Dad did it, didn't he?
- 29:51What? I think he played into 40.
- 29:54Yeah, it was. Didn't he?
- 29:56Didn't he finish with Baltimore? Wild, by the way, wild I
- 30:03remember, is that. Where you ended up?
- 30:05When I was a kid, yeah. Baltimore, 2011.
- 30:08One of the most impressive things you've ever seen.
- 30:10He was 30. 6 by the way. Really.
- 30:13I would have guessed. I thought for sure he made it to
- 30:1540. Yeah, that's that's if his first
- 30:19certificate was accurate. Fair.
- 30:21The one of the most impressive things I've ever seen on a
- 30:23baseball field. I remember when I was a kid
- 30:26going to an Orioles game and senior was an Angel and I don't
- 30:38know why they were doing something during BP and, and
- 30:43senior was in right field and like up against the wall in
- 30:46Camden, like on the track and he launches it like 6 or 7 rows
- 30:52past the dugout on the third base side.
- 30:55And I was just like dumbfounded of what I just witnessed.
- 31:01It was just one of those things where it just stuck in my mind
- 31:03where I was like, I've seen a few impressive things on a
- 31:06field, like live in person and that's not even during a game.
- 31:10It's just like letting it eat and just, it's just crazy.
- 31:14I think they're cool, man. They're good athletes and and
- 31:17papa's got to be real happy. You know who ain't happy,
- 31:22though? Oh, where are you taking this?
- 31:27Mr. Beau Bichette, like is he, is he getting a call, Is he
- 31:33going to get a call at any point?
- 31:34He said nothing. Nothing's on the table as of
- 31:37right now. Mr. Kirk is getting extended,
- 31:40but not even a not even a call for Beau Crazy.
- 31:50I don't know. You want to talk?
- 31:56I already know the answer to this.
- 31:58You want to talk about, but we're going to have to anyway,
- 32:00so this is a rhetorical question.
- 32:02Do you want to talk about our guy, Zach Campbell for just a
- 32:08minute? The Outlook answers answers my
- 32:12question. Just when I was feeling good, I
- 32:14was feeling positive. You're feeling positive.
- 32:16I was. Feeling bright.
- 32:17You're trying to convince, you're trying to convince me
- 32:20that a 14 year, 4 year, 40 age Vladdy junior situation is going
- 32:27to work out and they're not going to regret it.
- 32:30And then we got to flip the script and talk Zack Campbell.
- 32:35That's right. I think I did a good job selling
- 32:38it too. I'll stand.
- 32:39I'll stand on that. Hey you, you pulled out the
- 32:42whole leg. Well, we'll come back and visit
- 32:44the receipts thing. So we will.
- 32:46You don't have a choice but to stand by it if.
- 32:48You don't think we'll still be here in 14 years?
- 32:51You better check yourself before you wreck yourself.
- 32:57We're still running it back. Let's let me just let me just
- 33:01preface this next topic with with the video.
- 33:05That glove up there, you think he's got a great chance of
- 33:08catching that ball. After review the calling, the
- 33:18fuel stands. There's a home run back.
- 33:21All right, so here's the deal. Here's the deal.
- 33:26I've seen far too many people saying that the ball was well
- 33:34out of reach and that Zach Campbell was fully in his right
- 33:40to make the catch that he did. OK, sure.
- 33:45I'm not going to sit here and try to play Monday morning
- 33:47quarterback on a on a play. I mean you and I.
- 33:50On a Wednesday. On a Wednesday, even you and I
- 33:55have, I mean, we've been in a situation where we're like out
- 33:59world Baseball classic. We were literally just talked
- 34:01about this the other day. You're shagging BP, you're
- 34:03shagging some, some home runs. It it happens quick.
- 34:07So it's not like you have time to sit there and think like, oh,
- 34:09I got to I got to like back off here.
- 34:12It, it's that stuff gets on you quick, But this guy for some
- 34:17reason he's, he's everywhere. I, it makes no sense to me.
- 34:28And people say, people say, well, he's just, he's just a man
- 34:33enjoying his hobby, enjoying his passion.
- 34:35What is it of what is it to you? OK, this is the guy.
- 34:39This is this is what we're looking at here.
- 34:46He's got a GoPro. It's.
- 34:49Right above his glove. He's got a GoPro on his hat and
- 34:54he's taking pictures of the Jumbotron that he's on so.
- 35:00Like with a T-shirt that has his.
- 35:04T-shirt that has his name on it y'all?
- 35:11Y'all can defend Zach Campbell V1.
- 35:13I will not be one of those people.
- 35:16I mean this I don't get it, dude.
- 35:21I I don't get it. How are those people that that
- 35:25can defend this guy? I don't know, I'd like to know
- 35:30who in the world wants to subscribe to his YouTube.
- 35:39Takes the ball essential, I won't say out of Christopher
- 35:43Merrell's glove, but essentially eliminates any opportunity of
- 35:48him being able to rob the home run.
- 35:54He's got almost 700,000 subscribers on YouTube.
- 36:01That's a lot of, that's a lot of ample believers, lot of ample
- 36:05truthers. His last video at 88,000 views.
- 36:11I don't get it, man. I don't get it.
- 36:12I don't understand. I think he's the least like.
- 36:15Well, one of these videos has him licking an ice cream cone.
- 36:21It's crazy the. Graphic I don't like this guy.
- 36:24I don't want to like this guy. I don't care.
- 36:27We're just talking mad at me for not liking this guy.
- 36:31We're just talking about this before we hopped on.
- 36:33There. There are spray sharks in Major
- 36:39League Baseball like they have, they know, like you see guy, you
- 36:43see, I mean, well before the band and all that stuff.
- 36:45But like, with shifts and things like you, you have people whose
- 36:49job it is to determine where to put these people.
- 36:54And they're right less often than Zach Campbell.
- 37:00Zach Campbell is right more often than the teams that are on
- 37:05the field. He's it makes no sense to me.
- 37:08I don't understand what data he's pulling from that these
- 37:11teams don't have access to. It's just always that we were
- 37:14talking about like you, I've even seen like a good handful of
- 37:18times that a home run is hit and he's like in the vicinity.
- 37:25He didn't even get a ball. He has a million balls, but it's
- 37:28like there's still plenty where he's just like really close in
- 37:32that area. How often does that happen for
- 37:34you? For me, I he's going to way more
- 37:37games. But like we had to do it during
- 37:41BP when we're in Chase Field. We didn't even like how is he
- 37:44always in the vicinity? How is he always in the area?
- 37:48He's the worst and we saw him in Camden Yards.
- 37:51We've seen him in so many different.
- 37:52Ballpark. Oh my God, dude, we see him.
- 37:54In Camden Yards, we've seen him at at Fenway.
- 37:56Fenway, we saw. He was.
- 37:59There was another place we saw him.
- 38:02There's another place I've seen him.
- 38:06I think I've seen him in Yankee Stadium.
- 38:08He was tracking, he was trying to track down, if you remember
- 38:11when we're in Baltimore for that ALDS, he was trying and I
- 38:14remember hearing him say this, he was trying to get Gunner's
- 38:18first postseason home run. And I'm like, I mean, cool.
- 38:23Like, so is everybody else. But like, it got to the point
- 38:26where people were calling to like block this guy out from,
- 38:32from letting it happen. Yeah, we were like standing
- 38:34above the scoreboard. And he was at he was at the
- 38:38game, I'm like 99% sure he was at the game that Jackson Holiday
- 38:44ultimately hit his first big league home run.
- 38:46The game that I was at, I mean, I was up in the I was doing a
- 38:50chaperoning situation with the A camp, but he was, I'm pretty
- 38:54sure he was there. And I'm like, I mean, I get it.
- 38:57This guy's trying to take advantage, but like, I don't
- 39:02there's just it's something away.
- 39:03Is, is, it's the way he goes about it.
- 39:06I, I can't put my finger on it. There's just something about it
- 39:09that I. Don't think he has eyebrows and
- 39:11it's just like. OK, well, I'm not, I'm not
- 39:13commenting on that. That's not my place to talk
- 39:15about I. Don't.
- 39:16He's a very, he's got just a very punchable face.
- 39:19Again, not going to comment on his appearance, I'm simply
- 39:22looking at this through a. Baseball Lens.
- 39:26No, I am simply looking at this through a baseball lens.
- 39:30It's just it's really irritating and it's the victim card that I
- 39:34feel like gets played a lot when it's like you bring this on
- 39:37yourself. I hope you're aware of that like
- 39:39you're wearing AT shirt with your name on it.
- 39:42Right. Quasi interfering with with home
- 39:49run outcomes on multiple occasions like this wasn't a a
- 39:54stand alone incident but anyway I don't know.
- 39:57That guy sucks. That's sort of the gist of of
- 40:01what? Happened to punch him.
- 40:03It's crazy. Literally, if you can go back.
- 40:05You want to talk receipts? Go back.
- 40:06Never right here you say that. Never said that quick quick.
- 40:14Do you have like a quick top three list of people you'd
- 40:16punch? I mean, I did for the sake of
- 40:25ease. I would have to limit it to like
- 40:27the baseball world because. Yeah, sure.
- 40:31All right, baseball world, including.
- 40:34Put me on the spot here. Fans, spectators, broadcasters,
- 40:39reporters. Opening it up to everybody.
- 40:42Oh, this is interesting. Yeah.
- 40:44Well, let me just get out in front of this exercise for
- 40:46saying I would. I I would not condone punching
- 40:48anybody, nor would you find me punching anybody.
- 40:51This is a. Strictly theoretical.
- 40:54Strictly theoretical. Strictly hypothetical situation.
- 41:01I need a good answer here. I didn't love your answer with
- 41:03my geography question, so I'd like for you to really deliver
- 41:06here. Can I?
- 41:10I need to I'll. Give you 1.
- 41:13I need to OK give me, give me your, give me your one.
- 41:17I don't know if I don't, yeah, it probably rotates, but like, I
- 41:20think Tom Verducci is up there for me.
- 41:23That's wild. What did Tom verduce He ever?
- 41:27Do yeah. I just don't.
- 41:28I don't like him. Laura in the chat.
- 41:30AJ Przynski. Whoa, there we go, Laura.
- 41:33See, now we're AJ Ball. Rolling this is John Jonathan
- 41:36Papelbaum. Oh yeah, I'm cool.
- 41:39Careful, that guy's also running a podcast.
- 41:42I think so. I think they both are so dude.
- 41:45Psycho though. He is.
- 41:47You don't know. He's a wild card, would you?
- 41:49You'd punch a rod, I think. Yeah, dude.
- 41:54The the the gimmick. It's the, it's the phoniness
- 41:57with that guy. I, I, I mean how people don't
- 42:00see right through the ACT, like, come on.
- 42:03Yeah, yeah. Come on.
- 42:06I'll give you 1 throwback. Name Carlos Gomez.
- 42:11That's a great answer. Yeah, that guy.
- 42:14I I whenever I hear that name, I go immediately to that incident
- 42:18that run in at home plate with. Brian McCann.
- 42:25Brian McCann it was. Brian didn't.
- 42:27That's right. Which was the one of the coldest
- 42:30things I've ever seen. I love Brian McCann.
- 42:32That was sick. That's a that's a dude right
- 42:35there. I'll, I'll name another one for
- 42:37you. I think Garrett Cole probably
- 42:39makes that list for you. Say it.
- 42:41Say it. No.
- 42:44So here's the thing, bearded Garrett Cole.
- 42:47I'm like, I'm cool with you. Like Houston Astros?
- 42:49Garrett, I'm J clean shaven Yankee.
- 42:52Garrett Cole. Yeah, I can't do it.
- 42:54That guy, That guy stinks. Oh, you want it that?
- 42:59Guy stinks. That's a good exercise.
- 43:04Who is a guy, though? I feel like there were more guys
- 43:08back in like the yeah, like when we were growing up.
- 43:13Yeah 'cause I mean, you got to think like, well, I mean like
- 43:18early childhood. Like you guys are still Manny to
- 43:20the Max like. Manny was like one of my most
- 43:23hated players growing up. Manny just being Manny.
- 43:27Oh, I'm drawing a blank. It was a pitcher.
- 43:36Who do you play for? I don't know why my mind went to
- 43:42the White Sox. The White Sox A pitcher on the
- 43:46White Sox. Yeah, I don't.
- 43:48It wasn't quite early. No, it wasn't.
- 43:50Current drawn a blank. How old are we talking here?
- 43:57I mean it would have been like 20 tens I guess a rod.
- 44:07A rod's up there for you. Jerichole.
- 44:10Oh dude, I got a guy pulling one from the trenches here.
- 44:20Chris Archer. Do you remember Chris?
- 44:22Archer Yeah. Wow, that that guy never really
- 44:25affected. Me that much.
- 44:27I couldn't stand that. Guy.
- 44:29There we go. There we go.
- 44:31The gloves are off now we're getting someone.
- 44:33Chris Archer. Oh, and it's what's up with the
- 44:40pitchers? It was another pitcher, It was.
- 44:42Something about pitchers, man, it was like me off.
- 44:45How could I forget Number one on the list #1 on the list by far.
- 44:51More than a rod, more than a rod, more than No, I'm.
- 44:56I'm cool with Roger Clemens. He was.
- 44:57I mean, I didn't like. That guy would eat that punch,
- 45:00by the way. Oh.
- 45:00For sure, sure couldn't stand the guy being a Yankee, but like
- 45:04whatever. Like looking back, whatever he
- 45:06would wear. That, with a smile, that guy
- 45:09was. That was a gamer #1 on the list
- 45:11for me. Don't know how this didn't cross
- 45:13my mind immediately when you ask this question.
- 45:16Marcus Stroman. Marcus Stroman can take a hike.
- 45:20Marcus Stroman that. That's all I'm going to say.
- 45:25Well, good news is you won't see it because we're blocked.
- 45:27That's true. That's true.
- 45:31Yeah. I'm not going to good stuff.
- 45:33Not going to go any further with that, but that's probably my
- 45:36list. Oh man.
- 45:39That's a good midweek pod exercise.
- 45:42In the chat, Laura Archer was nice.
- 45:45You though there's no doubt of my mind, no doubt of my mind.
- 45:49But again, we're not saying like who's somebody you want to go
- 45:52like grab a drink with. No, you asked me like pungeable
- 45:55face and for some reason, I don't know what it was.
- 45:57Maybe he it must have been like his a big thing with me.
- 46:02And funny enough, it seems to trend or it seems to track with
- 46:05some of my other picks. A Rod Stroman, if you if your
- 46:09mannerisms or like your antics seem like just over the top or
- 46:14like you're very demonstrative and you're not just like kind
- 46:17of, you know, like little equilibrium action going on just
- 46:22like mellowed out. I'm like, it's doing too much
- 46:25for me doing too much. Also another another picture
- 46:28that kind of irks me. We don't need to keep going on
- 46:31this list, but Robbie Ray for some reason.
- 46:34Whoa, nice ricochets, man. It's something about it.
- 46:38Don't know. Don't know why.
- 46:39Crazy. Back in the day, as a as a kid,
- 46:45Pedro for me, I, I hated Pedro. I mean, I could I.
- 46:48Totally understand now. Just like him being a like a
- 46:51broadcaster or like he's a dude, He's a dude.
- 46:54I'm like, you're just a goof, man.
- 46:56You're funny. Yeah, other good ones, Josh
- 46:58Donaldson, Manny Machado. It's honestly, if you'd asked me
- 47:02this years ago, I would have said Machado, but it's I it's
- 47:06come around, I've come around on Machado.
- 47:08I can't really. It's hard for me to say that
- 47:10like. I got one for you.
- 47:12I'm so. I got a current one that I hope
- 47:14never would see this. Let's let's let's cap the
- 47:18exercise with this. This better be good.
- 47:19I would 1000% backpedal hard if I ever met him in person.
- 47:25No doubt as we as we would with pretty much it.
- 47:27Well, mine is Stroman. Whatever.
- 47:29Tommy Pham. Tommy Pham.
- 47:32You would need to walk that back.
- 47:35I would need to. That guy would eat me for lunch
- 47:37for sure. For sure, but.
- 47:41His ears are probably twitching right now.
- 47:42Oh yeah, I think he knows. Yeah.
- 47:44He's like aware of anyone. He knows.
- 47:47He's like catch me sometime bro, just wait.
- 47:50Better make sure you're not getting a knock on the door
- 47:52later tonight, yeah? But I don't.
- 47:54Yeah, I just don't like that guy.
- 47:57Fair enough. He's a Yankee killer.
- 47:59Just whatever team he plays for, it's just hits against the
- 48:02Yankees. It drives me crazy.
- 48:05Oh man. I love it.
- 48:07Just a little IL update, Jackson Merrill placed on the 10 day IL
- 48:13with the right hammy string. Yeah.
- 48:17Justin Steele, unless you had any comment on Jackson Merrill.
- 48:20Justin Steele placed on the 15 day IL with left elbow
- 48:25tendonitis. Wyatt Langford, who's actually
- 48:30off to a pretty hot start. Yeah.
- 48:34So is that line up? Very much so, placed on the 10
- 48:36day IL with an right oblique strain.
- 48:39Love me a good 10 dayer, you know what I mean?
- 48:42It's just like there's, there's optimism there. 15 days is where
- 48:45you start getting a little scared.
- 48:46Yep, Yep, the Orioles place their ace, their number one,
- 48:54their huge, massive offseason edition Opening Day starters
- 49:01Zach Eflyn on the 15 day IL due to a right lat strain.
- 49:08So huge, massive blow for the OS losing their ace.
- 49:14What's the what's the international guy?
- 49:16They got Segano. Yeah.
- 49:21Didn't he get hurt too? Did he?
- 49:23I thought he was healthy last I checked.
- 49:25I don't know, I had him for in fantasy for one start and it
- 49:31didn't look good. So I was like, yeah, I'm moving
- 49:32on. And I think he got hurt.
- 49:33He was like day-to-day at that point.
- 49:35But I don't know if he ever came back.
- 49:37Just a just a thought, just an interesting nugget.
- 49:40I think he's all right. All right, cool.
- 49:42Got his first big league win the other day against the the Kansas
- 49:45City Royales. Maybe I'll pick him back up.
- 49:50But yeah, just a huge, I cannot stress enough the impact that
- 49:57losing your ace for for 15 plus days will have on a team like
- 50:03the Orioles who are just, I mean, some optimism for the
- 50:08Orioles, super deep with high caliber arms, super deep with
- 50:15with elite stuff on the bump. I mean, ace after.
- 50:23I mean, that's a rotation of aces, a rotation, a rotate.
- 50:29Yeah. I mean, talk about, I mean, they
- 50:31might, you might not see a pitcher for another American
- 50:36League team pitching the All Star game.
- 50:40So just a a massive blow for the Orioles ultimately, again, just
- 50:45to drive that point home. But good on the Orioles, though.
- 50:50Like I said, they're deep. They made they acquired a lot of
- 50:53elite arms this. Offseason.
- 50:56They should. Be all right so yeah just really
- 51:01really want to drive that point home massive blow for the.
- 51:09Orioles. Victor Robles capping it off
- 51:12here. Did you see that that catchy got
- 51:16tangled up in? Against the net.
- 51:19Yeah, not not good. He's going to miss at least 12
- 51:21weeks with a small fracture in the the humoral head of his left
- 51:27shoulder. Yeah, dude, the way it hit and
- 51:29like went behind them. Some would say if that net
- 51:37wasn't there, might have been a better result, might have been a
- 51:40better outcome. Some would say, some are saying.
- 51:43What is the net doing all the way down there anyway?
- 51:45I was like in the corner, what do we need a net down there for?
- 51:53Exit Vilo baby. Softies.
- 51:56Man, softies. You know who's not a softie?
- 52:00Dane Myers. Let's take a look at this catch
- 52:03from this afternoon. And Pete drives one out to
- 52:10center, chasing Myers back to the warning track, and he makes
- 52:14the catch. Oh wow, another great catch by a
- 52:18Marlin center fielder. This one ends the game.
- 52:22Yesterday it was Derrick Hill, Today Dane Myers taking an extra
- 52:27basin away from Alonzo with a stunning catch to end the game
- 52:32and hand. My neck hurts just watching.
- 52:37That dude just wore it, but he ended the game.
- 52:40I mean, what a what a way to, what a way to finish off a game
- 52:43against Peter. Let me a good face plant.
- 52:47Those walls are not soft people. Guy wore it and last last item
- 52:52here in to to close the book as it were something that you you
- 52:57reminded me of that I think is certainly worth noting.
- 53:00We're celebrating was the the Jaron Duran situation, the the
- 53:09Netflix and I say celebrate. Why would you, if, if you know
- 53:12what we're talking about, like why would you say celebrate?
- 53:14Well, a lot of good has come from this.
- 53:16And if again, if you don't know what we're talking about, the,
- 53:19the Netflix doc on the 2024 Red Sox, which you know, aside from
- 53:25the Jaron Duran thing, still wild to me that they're like
- 53:29they looked at the 24/20/24 Red Sox for like, that's who we want
- 53:32to follow. Don't understand, but you know,
- 53:36maybe it was meant to be because as part of this doc Jaron Duran
- 53:42shared very transparent, very vulnerable about his struggles
- 53:47with mental health and and things that he's he's had to
- 53:49deal with over the years, citing citing demons and and things
- 53:55that he's had to fight and wrestle with.
- 54:00And it came out you you revealed in the dock.
- 54:03I mean, not the spoiler, but I'm true.
- 54:05If you haven't heard, you've caught wind of it by now, but
- 54:08revealed that he attempted to take his own life and you know,
- 54:14as as things would go, did not did not work out.
- 54:19And he he viewed this as an opportunity to to use his story
- 54:26for good. And man, did some good come out
- 54:29of it. Like I saw something the other
- 54:30day that said, what is it? It's like the this is Samaritan
- 54:37group. Apparently the spikes are the
- 54:40the calls rather just spiked people seeking help people,
- 54:47people calling the the hotline number to to just talk to
- 54:50people. And this is what he did.
- 54:52Like I've, I've followed this guy for a few years now and like
- 54:55this is what he's about. Like he, he wants to share his
- 54:59story, he wants to help make sure people get help that need
- 55:02help. And it's just, you know, again,
- 55:05unfortunate situation that that he even was out of place in his
- 55:09life where this where he felt like this was the only out.
- 55:14But you know, he's, he's still here, he's still, he's still
- 55:18balling out. And it was really cool to see
- 55:21the, the year he had last year, knowing all of this had had gone
- 55:25down and just the way he's been able to, to bounce back and
- 55:28again, just use this story to, to help others.
- 55:31So that's been really cool to to see.
- 55:33And about, yeah, man, I know that like we, we obviously like
- 55:37early in this episode joked about some stuff, but like it,
- 55:40it is something that's like a huge reminder that like, these
- 55:44are just people like us, you know what I mean?
- 55:46These are just like we, we put them on a pedestal and we have
- 55:49these ridiculous expectations of people.
- 55:53And, and I know the other side of the coin is people saying,
- 55:57you know, you're making millions of dollars, how tough can your
- 55:59life be? But like, there's a lot of
- 56:00pressure. There's a lot of pressure.
- 56:03And you know, when, when you have mental health battles, it's
- 56:10like that there's, there's no, there's no amount of anything
- 56:16that can prevent you from getting them at times.
- 56:21So really, really awesome that this is being talked about and
- 56:29that this is being brought up. And it's something that our
- 56:33culture has slowly gotten more and more comfortable doing it
- 56:37specifically around mental health with men, you know, when
- 56:41we're always taught to like kind of bottle up stuff and, and not
- 56:45let it out and not share it. And so like that takes courage
- 56:48for him to say this, not just out loud in an interview, but
- 56:52like for it to be posted and for it to be somewhat of of his
- 56:57cause and his off the field focus moving forward of helping
- 57:02others. So important.
- 57:05And it's amazing that that this is getting the light it gets.
- 57:09And this is in a very indirect way, exactly what you and I have
- 57:14been talking about of getting these guys a, a, a platform
- 57:20outside of just during the game, right?
- 57:22Like getting these guys visibility and MLB marketing
- 57:26their players. And it's not just for, you know,
- 57:29financial reasons of individual brands, but it's like individual
- 57:32causes and individual stories and like, you know, just crazy
- 57:36obstacles that have been overcome like that.
- 57:39Those are important things. And those are what transcends
- 57:42sports and can cause such an amazing ripple effect in a
- 57:47positive way. So good on good on Jaron Duran.
- 57:51Glad he's still here. Glad he's, you know, part of our
- 57:53our world in a way. And then I love to see the good
- 57:58that has come from all of this. And I'm sure he is too.
- 58:01So props, props. And Netflix, too, for, you know,
- 58:06being brave enough to ask that question.
- 58:07Because not all of us are. Asking the tough questions.
- 58:14Well, we're out of questions. We're out of topics, we're out
- 58:19of time. We're out of time, folks.
- 58:21You got anything else for the the people?
- 58:25You guys are great. Keep it up, keep being great.
- 58:28Thanks for hanging out with us. Keep hanging out with us.
- 58:33If you haven't been watching live, try to find some time,
- 58:37maybe carve out some time. This is what we do twice a week.
- 58:42In, you know, I got to, I got to, I got to just be fair to
- 58:50the, the listeners, the watchers.
- 58:52We're not the greatest at setting consistent times with
- 58:55these, with these things like at all.
- 58:57Yeah, we're terrible at it. So I feel like if we could
- 59:01figure out a way to make that happen that that would really
- 59:05mean a lot. That would go a long way for the
- 59:08the people watching, the people listening.
- 59:09But in the meantime, folks, just bear with us.
- 59:12You know, life happens. We do what we can to be
- 59:16consistent, but sometimes things just get a little.
- 59:19We ignore it as much work as we can, OK?
- 59:22Well, I won't. I won't go on record as saying
- 59:28anything. Oh yeah, Like you haven't in the
- 59:30past. Yeah.
- 59:32We went on the record about wanting to punch some guys in
- 59:34the face. So that's, that's honestly it's
- 59:37progress in my mind. Pretty sure I qualify that by
- 59:41saying this is purely hypothetical.
- 59:44You're the one that said you would try to throw hands with
- 59:48Tommy Pham. You're on record as saying that
- 59:50and I'm going to go ahead and clip that.
- 59:52Please, please that as receipt. Go ahead and use.
- 59:56That as receipt. That's that's not cool.
- 59:58That's not. I'll I may even I may even dox
- 1:00:01you. I don't know, like just.
- 1:00:02So I don't think that's nice. I mean, I'll, I'll give you the
- 1:00:06I'll get, I'll be decent enough not to tweet it publicly, but
- 1:00:09I'll just DM him like, hey dude, here's his phone number, here's
- 1:00:12his e-mail, here's his address. I know this is roughly around
- 1:00:17the time that he's home from work.
- 1:00:19I don't do with this information that you were just outing each
- 1:00:21other. Yeah, I was going to ask you
- 1:00:23about something. Oh boy, what were you going to
- 1:00:25ask me about? Like in the in the group chat
- 1:00:27where you said that you're on track to finally be able to
- 1:00:31order a a medium steak. Yeah, let's let's just address
- 1:00:36that real quick. You're working.
- 1:00:37Towards the cold, yeah. OK be.
- 1:00:40Prepared to have a medium. Steak.
- 1:00:42Here's the medium. Here's the deal.
- 1:00:43Let me let me explain myself. Now that we're done talking
- 1:00:47ball, let me just explain myself real quick before we get out of
- 1:00:50here. So in our fantasy, like the
- 1:00:53three O take fantasy league group chat, we've sort of
- 1:00:57started this thing where like guys, just like if they grew up
- 1:01:00a steak, they'll put a picture of it like yo, that's like a 10
- 1:01:03out of 10. Well, like, well, I want to say
- 1:01:06well done, no pun intended, but like nice steak, great job.
- 1:01:12And so somehow it got like outed that or it got brought up that,
- 1:01:17you know, like, well, nature's destroys my my eating habits any
- 1:01:24chance he gets. But anyway, I was explaining
- 1:01:27that, you know, when I was a kid, I would only eat steak well
- 1:01:31done, which I know it's basically like having a you're
- 1:01:34chewing a tire. But then I said I'm up to a
- 1:01:39medium now or no medium well. And I'm 30.
- 1:01:43Mind you, I'm 31 years old. So do that information what you
- 1:01:46will. And all I said was that I'm
- 1:01:50working my way towards what did I say medium.
- 1:01:54Like I said, that's. Next, your way towards Medium.
- 1:01:57You should be ready by this summer.
- 1:02:00Yeah, because who's eating like who's just randomly eating in a
- 1:02:03steak in like, well, and now it's April, but like, who's
- 1:02:06eating a randomly eating a steak, like grilling one out on
- 1:02:10the deck in late March? Unless you live in, unless you
- 1:02:13live out there, which I don't, It's still cold out here.
- 1:02:17You're not just grilling up a Texas.
- 1:02:19Roadhouse since at all since last summer.
- 1:02:23No, but that wasn't that wasn't part of my journey.
- 1:02:27That wasn't part of my path. When I when it gets warmer,
- 1:02:31when, when this, when the grills start coming out and people
- 1:02:33start asking, hey, how do you want it cooked?
- 1:02:35Or if I'm at a restaurant, how do you want it cooked?
- 1:02:38I'm going to say medium. I've had medium steaks before.
- 1:02:41I'm just saying I'm getting it. I'm going to get to a point
- 1:02:43where that's like more of a regular thing for me, so.
- 1:02:47Is there a is there a time that a, a medium rare is ever in the
- 1:02:50mix? Do you see?
- 1:02:52Do you foresee that in your picture that just.
- 1:02:54Doesn't seem enjoyable to me. Enjoyable to me.
- 1:02:56Like I think mediums. I think medium is fine.
- 1:03:00It's a visual. It's a visual thing.
- 1:03:03Yeah, but like it's it's also for me, it's a tasting too.
- 1:03:07Like medium is has enough flavor to like check.
- 1:03:09I'm not some like steak snob, like medium checks the box
- 1:03:13perfectly for me. So you know what?
- 1:03:17The next time I get a steak, I'll make it a medium and I'm
- 1:03:20going to enjoy it. So whatever.
- 1:03:23Should be ready in a few months. Go ahead and try to out me all
- 1:03:29you want. I I'm what about a burger?
- 1:03:36There's too much going on. Like I it's not, it's not going
- 1:03:40to be as noticeable or make as much of a difference to me.
- 1:03:43A steak, it's just a steak. The temperature, how you cook,
- 1:03:46it's going to make a huge difference.
- 1:03:48So that's where I'm going to focus my efforts in, in growing
- 1:03:51as a, as a consumer of the culinary goods.
- 1:03:55Sure, but you know, burger. Maybe I'll dabble in a medium
- 1:04:01too. That's fine, whatever.
- 1:04:02I'm so proud of you. Thanks.
- 1:04:04So proud of you, keep it up man. This guy, this guy will take any
- 1:04:08opportunity he gets to out my Chipotle order any chance he
- 1:04:12gets. Rice, chicken, cheese, little
- 1:04:17sour cream, tortilla on the side.
- 1:04:22And I eat it plain. I eat the tortilla by itself
- 1:04:25because it's a nice snack. You eat tortilla chips, do you
- 1:04:28not? It's the same thing.
- 1:04:30Anyway, Let's get out of here. That'll do it.
- 1:04:36I. Dip.
- 1:04:36I dip my tortilla chips. You dip them in anything.
- 1:04:40I eat them plain if need be. Not by default, but if need be
- 1:04:46anyway. You worry me.
- 1:04:47You worry me. Well, Kyle does it all the time,
- 1:04:51apparently. But you shouldn't.
- 1:04:53So don't go chasing curveballs. We love you all and as always,
- 1:04:55looking forward to talking more baseball with you guys soon.
- 1:04:57Until next time, stay filthy.
