- 0:03Hello, welcome to He's hopping something's off.
- 0:08I pressed the right button for the right intro music.
- 0:13Somehow in my head when the intro music played in my
- 0:16headphones I was like wait is this the right music?
- 0:20I just surprised myself with my own intro music. 100 and 140 a
- 0:26150 episodes in anyways, today I'm wearing contacts.
- 0:32I'm wearing contact lenses. I can see the little flip bolt
- 0:36monitor that's on the camera I'm looking at right now.
- 0:39As always, the video version of the podcast is available on my
- 0:43YouTube channel. Just Joey T and I'm wearing
- 0:46contacts because we had a little mini adventure today and those
- 0:52of you that were subscribed to my Patreon yesterday on
- 0:56Wednesday will know exactly what happened.
- 0:58So I've talked about OK, the gym I've been going to for a few
- 1:02years now, the crunchy West Hollywood.
- 1:05They officially permanently closed either Sunday or Monday.
- 1:09I forgot it was the 30th or the 31st.
- 1:12So yesterday or today, as I'm recording this on Wednesday, I
- 1:17tried out a new gym. So the new gym I decided to try
- 1:22out, not like there's a million options.
- 1:24It's the EOS in Beverly Center. It's close to West Hollywood.
- 1:30It's like on the edge of like I think it might technically it's
- 1:33like across the street from West Hollywood.
- 1:34I forgot where the exact borders are of West Hollywood, but it's
- 1:37like the West Hollywood area. It's kind of sort of in between
- 1:41West Hollywood, Beverly Hills. So went there today.
- 1:46I took a little photo and posted it on my Patreon because I do
- 1:51just like use my Patreon basically like an Instagram and
- 1:55a Twitter. Earlier yesterday, I just did a
- 1:57random selfie. In the morning I posted it and
- 2:00then in the afternoon when I went to this E OS gym for the
- 2:03first time, I was waiting in like their little lobby entrance
- 2:09area because, you know, I was like, they went to like schedule
- 2:12a tour so that they can give you the sales pitch, all that stuff,
- 2:15blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. So anyways, yeah, just that's a
- 2:18plug for my Patreon basically before I get into the full story
- 2:23of like trying this new gym and all the stuff that all the
- 2:26little happenings yesterday. Quick plug more plugs for the
- 2:31YouTube channel. I've got a few new videos on my
- 2:35YouTube. If you haven't checked it
- 2:37recently. I've got 3 videos now from the
- 2:41Atlanta Symphony 2026 cruise. There's the main after movie,
- 2:46which I'm very proud of. It's getting quite a lot of
- 2:48views only having been out for like a few days.
- 2:50Please go watch it. There's also a quote UN quote,
- 2:55just the party's version of the after movie, which only has the
- 2:59party footage and does have any of the show's entertainment in
- 3:01it. And just a few days ago, I
- 3:05uploaded a third version, which is the after movie soundtrack.
- 3:09And it's basically just the full version, full length songs from
- 3:14the music that I use in the after movie, specifically all
- 3:18the party footage in the after movie.
- 3:20I hand picked crew with some tracks and some songs for that.
- 3:25In this third soundtrack version that's posted to YouTube, it's
- 3:31basically those songs that I selected, but like the full
- 3:33length version. So you kind of it's not a video.
- 3:37It is a video business on YouTube, but it's like more
- 3:40audio than anything anyway. So a quick plug for that.
- 3:43All right, the new gym. So the gym in Beverly Center,
- 3:49which is like the shopping mall in the area, just it's, it's on
- 3:55the edge of West Hollywood. Like I said, that used to be a
- 3:59Gold's Gym and it only opened in 2014.
- 4:05So in 2014 it was a Gold's Gym and it was a brand new build.
- 4:10It was a brand new gym. So everything was like spick and
- 4:13span. I didn't go to it back in 2014,
- 4:16but I wasn't interested in switching gyms.
- 4:19I was pretty happy at the Crunch in West Hollywood.
- 4:22But I know that EOS, which is like this other gym chain,
- 4:28fitness chain, took over a bunch of the Gold's Gym locations here
- 4:32in Socal. So they took over dislocation in
- 4:35Beverly Center. I don't know, like four or six
- 4:39months ago, it didn't happen. It was sometime last year.
- 4:43It was not that long ago and I kept seeing not great reviews
- 4:47about E OS to be honest, when I was looking into moving into
- 4:52moving to Vegas. So this was like about a year
- 4:55ago because I was getting kind of serious about moving out of
- 4:59Socal. That's a whole other kind of I
- 5:02think if you rewind to one of the episodes from about 10 or 12
- 5:06months ago. I'm sure I've talked about it,
- 5:07but anyways, EOS has quite a presence in the Vegas area and I
- 5:13was just doing research and they don't seem to have a great
- 5:17reputation as a company in terms of like having transparent
- 5:23pricing and making it not stupid difficult to like cancel your
- 5:26membership and you know, locking you into these like contracts,
- 5:31having all these fees, not having the best upkeep in terms
- 5:36of like the locker rooms and the showers and things like that.
- 5:39So I was a little apprehensive about going within EOS, but
- 5:45within the West Hollywood area, there's not.
- 5:48There's a good number of gyms and fitness places you can go
- 5:52to. All I do is weights and
- 5:56resistance training. That's the only thing I really
- 5:58want a gym for. I don't do classes, I don't do
- 6:02the amenities like the pool, the sauna, the steam room.
- 6:05I don't use any of that. I don't shower at the gym.
- 6:08I don't really sweat. Like if I want to shower I just
- 6:09shower at home because I don't live that far away.
- 6:13So basically the EOS is the only chain, but you get the private
- 6:22and boutique gym and fitness places as well.
- 6:24But it's the only other large gym close to my house at a
- 6:30similar price to the Crunch. There are, like I said, some
- 6:35private gym gyms, some boutique gyms that are not chains.
- 6:40There's quite a few around here actually, but I'm just used to
- 6:47the big box gyms. I don't want a small intimate
- 6:52atmosphere for my gym. I kind of sort of want to be a
- 6:58number at the gym. I don't want to like, I don't
- 7:02want to get to know like the people at my gym really.
- 7:05I don't want to get to know like the gym's owners.
- 7:07I don't want to want to get to know the staff there.
- 7:10It sounds very like cold and heartless, but I'm a cold and
- 7:12heartless person. Literal ice run through my
- 7:15veins. OK?
- 7:17I just don't go to the gym for any sense of community.
- 7:19It's not why I'm there. I just want to go there, pick
- 7:22everything's up, put them down, repeat, and go home.
- 7:25I don't want a loiter I like. I don't want to like, yeah.
- 7:29I just don't see the gym as a place to socialize.
- 7:32I just want to work out and go home.
- 7:34For me, the gym serves a very singular purpose.
- 7:39And I I I don't like to mingle. I don't like to make some.
- 7:42I, I don't. I'm just there for the equipment
- 7:44and the weights, literally. OK, So smaller gyms, I mean you
- 7:50also they don't have as much of A selection of equipment and
- 7:55it's nice to have, you know, variety of different types of
- 8:00equipment and weights and things like that.
- 8:02Some of the boutique gyms, their weight don't go up as high,
- 8:06which is not necessarily a problem, but I'm just I prefer a
- 8:12larger gym space that also has a larger variety of equipment and
- 8:19more equipment. So that's why I prefer to stick
- 8:22to one of the bigger gyms, which kind of means you have to go
- 8:26with a chain. Like there's a EOS here, there's
- 8:3024 hour, there's like LA Fitness, there's a bunch of
- 8:32different chains here, but I don't want to.
- 8:37I'm so used to going to a gym that's nearby, like within a
- 8:41couple of miles that I don't want to drive too far for a gym,
- 8:45especially. I go to the gym like four or
- 8:47five times a week. I don't want to spend a ton of
- 8:50time in my car. And there are quite a few gyms
- 8:54in West, in West, in Hollywood, not West Hollywood, but in
- 8:56Hollywood, which is not that far.
- 8:58It's probably about like 3 or 4 mile, maybe five mile drives.
- 9:03Not that far, but the part of Hollywood where all the gyms
- 9:08are, that's a busy area in terms of traffic, like at all times of
- 9:13day, you know, in like West Hollywood and like Beverly
- 9:18Hills, kind of like here and also West or like South of us,
- 9:22traffic thins out a little bit in like the middle of the day.
- 9:25It's not that it's super quiet, but like it thins out a little
- 9:28bit over in Hollywood where you find the gyms.
- 9:32It's busy all the time because when you don't have the commuter
- 9:36traffic during rush hour, you have tons of Taurus traffic in
- 9:42Hollywood. And there's also a lot of, yeah,
- 9:46the parts of Hollywood also kind of runs through.
- 9:48I think there's like a highway there.
- 9:49Anyways, I, it's usually quite a bit busier and over in
- 9:54Hollywood, it's harder to find parking for the gyms over there,
- 9:57but I'm researching, OK, there's like a 24 hour in Hollywood, for
- 10:01example. And it's like half the price of
- 10:03what I was paying for crunch. And I've been there a few times
- 10:06before, like many years ago. And I was like, that seems like
- 10:09a decent option, but you know, you have to pay $3 for parking
- 10:12and you know, the, the traffic there, you're going to have to
- 10:16spend more of your time commuting there back and forth.
- 10:19And I did the math, OK, if I go like 5 * a week, which is like
- 10:24my usual schedule, five times a week, $3 each time, and I'm
- 10:29going every week, that's like what, 3 * 5?
- 10:32That's like 40 something dollars a month just in parking, on top
- 10:38of the gym membership obviously. And like the cheap, the lower
- 10:44cost of going to that gym in Hollywood is completely negated
- 10:48by the parking fee. So, you know, I do my research.
- 10:51This is like, you know, before I buy anything, including a gym
- 10:54membership or switching to a new gym, like I do my research.
- 10:58So it's like, OK, well, Hollywood's out parking is a
- 11:00little bit harder for some of the gyms over there.
- 11:02The gyms over there are cheaper. But if I'm going to pay like 40
- 11:05something $50.00 for parking every month, it's like, OK,
- 11:07well, it doesn't matter that the membership fee is cheaper.
- 11:10Like I'm all the money that I would have saved on the
- 11:11membership, it all goes to parking.
- 11:13Parking over there is kind of harsh anyways.
- 11:15So the EOS is kind of like on paper the best option.
- 11:20So I went there today. I got the seven day trial from
- 11:24the website I go in and I've never been there before.
- 11:28It does look impressive when you first walk up to it.
- 11:33It is, it does look very, very new and sleek and modern and
- 11:37clean because it is a very new facility.
- 11:39It's like barely 2 years old and it was quite busy at the
- 11:44entrance area, at least when I got there because there was like
- 11:475 other people up at the counter and there was like a little bit
- 11:50of a wait. And eventually there was like
- 11:52someone that took me on a tour, which is like a sales pitch,
- 11:56which is like my next thing. OK, I expected a sales pitch
- 12:00100%. So the way it worked was this
- 12:05guy gave me a tour like pretty standard, just takes you like
- 12:10around to different areas of the gym, points out different areas
- 12:13and different piece of equipment and amenities and stuff like
- 12:16that. I don't know, like for 5
- 12:18minutes. Then he sits you down at a desk
- 12:20and like he starts showing you like, oh, this is like the
- 12:22numbers and this is like the corner cold deal that we have.
- 12:26It's not like anything special. You guys are advertised on your
- 12:28website and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 12:31And I, I told them, OK, that's great.
- 12:34But you know, I also have like another gym that I'm going to
- 12:37try out, which I said, oh, I'm also going to try out the John
- 12:40Reed that's in West Hollywood because it's walking distance to
- 12:42my place. But I haven't tried them yet.
- 12:44You guys are my first stop. Obviously they're doing, they're
- 12:47in sales mode now and they want to get you.
- 12:50So I told them, OK, well that's another gym that I want to try
- 12:52out, but so I just want to do the seven day trial.
- 12:56Like I signed up online. I have to e-mail for it and he's
- 12:59like, OK, cool, that's fine, but let me get my manager because
- 13:01the manager has to process all the trials anyways.
- 13:05And it's like, this is as close as the car dealership experience
- 13:12as a regular person would get. Not like people are buying cars
- 13:15all the time. People are not switching gyms or
- 13:17signing for gym memberships most of the time anyways.
- 13:20So I, I bought more cars than I've than than times I've
- 13:25switched gym memberships, I think, which is not anyways, we
- 13:31don't have we don't have time to get sidetracked.
- 13:33So the guy's like it goes away 30 seconds later.
- 13:37It comes up with like the manager.
- 13:39And while I was waiting those 30 seconds, I was like, OK, this is
- 13:42leaving a bad taste in my mouth. Like anytime someone has to like
- 13:46get the manager in a sales situation automatically, that's
- 13:50like, OK, you've cut your tip in half.
- 13:52Like my, my impression of the place is going downhill.
- 13:59So anyways, it's not my first rodeo, even though I don't do
- 14:02this type of thing all the time. But they were super nice.
- 14:04I mean, they're trying to get your business.
- 14:05Of course, they're super nice trying to sell you something.
- 14:08So the manager comes by blah, blah, blah.
- 14:10I mean, I just repeat the same thing.
- 14:12Oh, I'm I was at the crunch. It's closing down.
- 14:15I'm trying out some gyms. I'm trying out you guys now I'll
- 14:17also have this other one that I'm going to try.
- 14:20So I just want to do the seven day trial blah, blah, blah.
- 14:22And they were fine. They didn't push super hard
- 14:25because I was being like somewhat direct.
- 14:27I just literally said like I'm literally trying out a couple of
- 14:30gyms. It's like you and these other
- 14:32guys, those are my only options that are near where I want to
- 14:35live in this within my price range.
- 14:37Like they clearly know what the landscape is.
- 14:39Like I wasn't telling them anything they didn't know.
- 14:41So they knew that like what I was saying is true.
- 14:44Because really there's only two gyms that are larger gyms that
- 14:50are within like a couple of miles, 2 or maybe 3 miles of
- 14:53where I live. And I told them also like, well,
- 14:55yeah, there's Hollywood, but like, I don't want to go over to
- 14:57Hollywood. But it's, it's so crowded and
- 14:59there's so much traffic in the Hollywood area, which if they
- 15:01knew anything about the area, they know everything I'm telling
- 15:05them is true. So they're like, OK, fine.
- 15:08We're going to give you like the free trial.
- 15:10And then we also have this like open house thing in like a
- 15:12couple of weeks. And then we might be running
- 15:14like some like enrollment offers.
- 15:16So you might want to. So it's actually fine.
- 15:18They didn't push too hard. And like, I didn't, I, I, I was
- 15:21just being fairly direct. Like this is literally the
- 15:23truth. I'm just trying a couple of gyms
- 15:25and I also told them like, you know what, you know, I don't
- 15:27care so much about some special offer.
- 15:30I said a little bit nicer, but I basically told them it's great
- 15:34that you guys are trying to give me an offer.
- 15:36Like you guys aren't doing this all the time to every person
- 15:39that comes in the door anyways. I know it's great that you guys
- 15:41are trying to give me an offer, but you know, if I try you guys
- 15:44out and I like this gym like I don't mind penny pinching 10
- 15:49dollars, $20 here and there, But if I like your gym, I wouldn't
- 15:52want to sign up anyways. Basically I was trying to tell
- 15:56them like, if I like the gym, I'm going to sign up regardless.
- 15:59So like let the product speak for itself.
- 16:01Basically didn't push too hard. It wasn't that bad, but I just
- 16:05don't like this like I'm going to, I'm going to get my manager.
- 16:08I hate that I, I, I hate this like I, I have to get my manager
- 16:13thing. It just encourages Karens to
- 16:15like ask for a manager. I I just don't like it.
- 16:19One time I was shopping for a car not that long ago, this was
- 16:23about 3-4 years ago, I was at a car dish.
- 16:26And by the way, if you want to shop for a car, don't start by
- 16:29going into a car dealership. Literally do not start by going
- 16:33into a car dealership. If you want to shop for a car,
- 16:37you, you know what one of the best ways to shop for a car is
- 16:40actually going through a broker and you can find a broker for
- 16:45almost any make and model online.
- 16:47It does take like just a it's a bit of digging, but if you just
- 16:51go into a dealer blind you, it's very hard to get a decent deal.
- 17:02Like they're going to convince you that you got a good deal
- 17:06whether you got a good deal or not.
- 17:09Well, anyways, yeah, you've been shopping for a car.
- 17:12Please don't just like step into a dealership in person.
- 17:15It's kind of horrible. If you want to just test drive
- 17:18something, that's fine, but you need to be pretty skilled and
- 17:24comfortable with literally just like walking away when you get
- 17:27off, when you get off that test drive.
- 17:29Anyways, back to the gym. So that's fine.
- 17:32I'm on the free trial right now. The gym, I mean it's a pretty
- 17:37nice gym. It's definitely a pretty big
- 17:40gym. The Crunch was not that big.
- 17:42It was like small to mid size gym.
- 17:45The crunch honestly was not that big.
- 17:47But the thing about the Crunch is it was never it's never busy.
- 17:52It's never that busy. I went to the EO said around
- 17:562:30 they did the tour and like, after talking to the manager and
- 17:59everything, it was about 3:00 when I started my workout and I
- 18:04was there for about an hour and it I can imagine getting busier
- 18:11than that, but it was, there's definitely people there.
- 18:14And I did ask the guy, you know, my schedule's pretty flexible.
- 18:18What's the quietest time of the day to come?
- 18:20And he's like 11 to 1 like around lunchtime.
- 18:23So the equipment is fine. I read some reviews about the
- 18:29how like the steamer and the showers might not be super well
- 18:32maintained like the towel hamper it's like always overflowing.
- 18:36There's only one water station. Things like that.
- 18:41I only went there for like 1 visit for like an hour but I saw
- 18:46the one water station there was not a line up for it.
- 18:49There's a decent amount of people.
- 18:51I think it was like there's a moderate amount of people.
- 18:53I definitely can see it getting busier, but I didn't have to.
- 18:57I think I lucked out today and didn't have to really wait for
- 19:00any piece of equipment. It wasn't jam packed.
- 19:03I mean, obviously it's it's 5:40 PM as I'm recording this now.
- 19:07It's probably completely packed in there now, but I would never
- 19:09go at like I don't go at the hours when it's busy because
- 19:14most people go outside of normal business hours.
- 19:17But I go at sex worker O'clock, which is when everyone else is
- 19:23in the office, but everyone else has to work their corporate job.
- 19:25Like I get to go anyways. I I picked up that joke from
- 19:28like heard it from some. It was like some only only fans
- 19:34creator like a couple years ago that was on like a live stream
- 19:39or something. And I was just like listening.
- 19:40And but sometimes they do these like only fans one-on-one
- 19:42things, which just, they talk about industry and they just
- 19:45talk about stuff. And this one creator who's like
- 19:48pretty popular said like, yeah, I, I go to the gym at sex worker
- 19:53O clock, which is like when no one else is going, it's like
- 19:581:00 PM basically when it's the quietest.
- 20:01But there's like the morning rush, you know, before people
- 20:03start their work day. And then there's when people get
- 20:07off of work. For around like 5:00, it really
- 20:11picks up like between like in the early evening, it's very
- 20:15busy at the gym all the way up until like 8:00 PM it's really
- 20:18busy because that's when people might start going home to eat
- 20:20dinner. Anyways, yeah, so it was fine.
- 20:25There's a decent chance I might end up there and like I should
- 20:30get a proper membership, but they gave me a free trial for
- 20:33like 2 weeks because they said oh, on the 16th or something.
- 20:36Like a couple of weeks later, they have this like open house,
- 20:40some type of a thing. I was not fully listening by
- 20:42then. And that's when they said they
- 20:45might run some fresh or they might be willing to do some sort
- 20:50of like enrollment deal or some sort of discount or whatever.
- 20:53So they gave me a trial until then, which was very nice with
- 20:55them. The trial was only supposed to
- 20:56be 7 days, but they gave it to me for like 14.
- 20:59So yeah, I might end up going there.
- 21:02I did see a few people sue faces I recognize that used to be at
- 21:06the crunch. They're there now.
- 21:08I did not see my ex-boyfriend, my ex gym boyfriend, my gym
- 21:13ex-boyfriend. I haven't seen her for a couple
- 21:15of months because I changed the time of day that I go to the
- 21:19gym. I switched after the February
- 21:21recruits of Atlantis. I just somehow felt like going
- 21:24in the morning. So I've been going at 10 AM.
- 21:28Usually I would go at 2:00 PM. So I haven't seen, I haven't
- 21:32seen him in a long time. So anyways, the John Reed is the
- 21:37other option that I'm entertaining.
- 21:40OK, the E OS is 80 bucks per month.
- 21:46Yep, do oh, oh, my rice is ready.
- 21:48Can you hear that? That's the that's my rice cooker
- 21:52playing in Chime. Anyways, so the E OS is $80.00
- 21:56for that particular location, which is within the E OS family,
- 22:02one of the a top tier, what they call a landmark location, which
- 22:05is requires their most expensive plans, which is starting from 80
- 22:10bucks. So that's $80, which is about
- 22:13the same as what I was paying for the crunch.
- 22:15Anyways, so there's a John Reed in the middle of West Hollywood,
- 22:20like in the heart of West Hollywood proper is walking
- 22:23distance to my house. It's like a 12 minute walk I
- 22:26think from my place. And their regular price, just to
- 22:31give you an idea of like what gyms cost, at least around here,
- 22:36it's $180 for their month to month plan if you do like a
- 22:41contract. So the 80 bucks at EOS, I think
- 22:43it's there. I don't think that's month to
- 22:45month. I think you're signing up
- 22:46contract for that. The month to month at the John
- 22:49Reed is 160, the regular price. And I don't think they charge an
- 22:54enrollment fee. I think they just do like the
- 22:58monthly price and that's it. At a regular gym.
- 23:00Most gyms, most chains, there's a enrollment fee and then they
- 23:05charge you a month, an annual membership fee of some sort, and
- 23:10those are on top of your monthly membership fee.
- 23:14The crunch was like that and then this E OS gym is like that
- 23:17too. The John Reed.
- 23:19Apparently they don't charge an enrollment fee and they don't do
- 23:22a annual membership fee. They just do the monthly and
- 23:26they have very clearly a month to month plan that's one eighty
- 23:30$180 and they have something that's not month to month.
- 23:34You get signed some of the contract, I guess that's 160 for
- 23:37like I guess a year. So but I was looking at the
- 23:41website today and for the month to month they're running a
- 23:44special that's $130.00 for the first six months because month
- 23:50to month you don't sign a contract.
- 23:51So for $130.00 for six months, I, I know it's only for six
- 23:56months. But The thing is, I actually,
- 24:00I'm not sure how much longer I'll be in this exact area of
- 24:08West Hollywood. I'm a little, I don't want to
- 24:11commit to a year. There's a slight chance I might
- 24:14not be in this part of West Hollywood.
- 24:18So I don't know. So like the month to month is
- 24:21attractive. So I do want to try out the John
- 24:25Reed, but Can you imagine paying nearly $200 though?
- 24:29Like the regular price is like 160 to 180.
- 24:32Can you imagine paying nearly $200 for a gym Equinox?
- 24:35They're they're nearly $300. They're like 250.
- 24:39They're like well into the two hundreds.
- 24:41And then some of the private boutique gyms in this area, they
- 24:45are like in the mid one hundreds up to like the 200, like 150 to
- 24:50200 per month. So it's, I don't know.
- 24:56I had so much difficult difficulty picking a gym.
- 24:59There's an Equinox in West Hollywood and I, I, I am not
- 25:02paying, I'm not paying that much money.
- 25:05It's, I don't use any of the extra stuff that comes with
- 25:09Equinox. I, I just don't the, the even
- 25:11the John Reed, I would not entertain them really at
- 25:15$160.00. But if they have this like month
- 25:19to month, that is 130 for six months, I'm like OK, for six
- 25:24months, 130 is walking distance to my place.
- 25:27It's not bad that John Weed does not do trials though.
- 25:31A lot of gyms you can do like a three day free trial, a 7 day
- 25:34free trial like I'm doing at EOS right now.
- 25:36John Weed, they don't have free trials.
- 25:38If you're an existing member, you might have some guest day
- 25:43passes you can like share with a friend.
- 25:45But yeah, it it's kind of weird that they don't have a trial
- 25:49system. It must be like a very conscious
- 25:52choice on their part. But I heard at least they are
- 25:56much more, they have a much more straightforward, transparent
- 25:59pricing structure. Again, there's no enrollment
- 26:00fee. There's no annual membership
- 26:02fee. You just pay the monthly and
- 26:03that's it. And they very clearly also
- 26:05advertise like the month to month option where you don't
- 26:07have to sign like like a yearly contract, which I really
- 26:10appreciate. The only other thing about the
- 26:13John Reed is Jon me the brand, it's supposed to be their
- 26:18concept is just like club gym hybrid.
- 26:21And it's like, I don't want my gym to be like a club.
- 26:24So I've never tried it before. I'm trying to see if anyone I
- 26:28know in the area has like a guest pass.
- 26:30I just want to at least try it out once to see what it's
- 26:33actually really like in them. OK, let's talk about the boys.
- 26:40But I think some of you are thinking, hey, are the boys?
- 26:43Are these gyms hot? You know, I was, I was surprised
- 26:48there were, there were some, there were some attractive guys
- 26:54at the EOS, I think attractive in that stereotypical straight
- 27:00gym type of a way. Like when I was at the crunching
- 27:03West Hollywood. It's not technically a gay gym,
- 27:05but like 99% of the guys who were gay.
- 27:08Like honestly, when it's like the with the weights area, 99%
- 27:13of the people were guys and 99% of those guys were gay.
- 27:16Like the gaydar was didn't need to stress.
- 27:20Like the gaydar was very easy. Everybody's gay pretty much.
- 27:24The EOS is not like that. I think half the guys are gay
- 27:28because I, it was pretty easy for, for the gaydar to determine
- 27:35for like 80% of the guys whether they were gay or not.
- 27:39There were some attractive straight guys at the gym.
- 27:43You know what it reminds me of when you go to an EDM festival
- 27:46and you see hot straight guys with their girlfriends.
- 27:49By the way, EDM festivals have tons of hot straight guys.
- 27:53It's the only place to find hot straight guys.
- 27:55If you or a straight straight girls, don't listen to this.
- 27:58But if you have friends that are straight girls and straight
- 28:01girls, if you want to go to an event that had us like hot
- 28:06straight guys, maybe not necessary for you to hit on
- 28:10them, but you just if you're wondering like, Hey, where are
- 28:14all the hot straight guys there at EDM festivals.
- 28:17OK, But I saw quite a few of those types of hot straight guys
- 28:23at the EOS when I went today. That's the closest reference I
- 28:27have. It's like, oh, some of these
- 28:29like straight looking hot guys. You these kind of sort of like
- 28:34hot straight guys I would see at EDC in Vegas or at like Ultra
- 28:38music festival, like an EDM festival, something like that.
- 28:41So there were like a few of them also.
- 28:46Definitely there are some gays there that are just the way
- 28:51their eyes linger. You know, they're out to check
- 28:53on meat gays, gym gays. When they're at the gym, they're
- 28:57only half there for the exercise.
- 29:00They're also half there to like try to pick up some meat
- 29:03themselves. It's just the way the gate, the
- 29:06gym gays are honestly. Yeah, but the, it, it was
- 29:10interesting. A few Bros, you know, few
- 29:13straight Bros there. It is like a pretty big gym.
- 29:15You get a lot of people. It's not like in a super gay
- 29:18area like the country West Hollywood is, which is like
- 29:21right in the middle West Hollywood.
- 29:22The John Reed, though I haven't been there, but I already know
- 29:25it's like a lot of gays that go there because it's right in the
- 29:28middle of West Hollywood. It used to be a 24 Hour Fitness
- 29:31and I used to go to that 24 Hour Fitness until 24 Hour Fitness
- 29:36closed down that location permanently.
- 29:38That's why I switched to the Crunch about like 3:00-ish three
- 29:41or four years ago. If 24 Hour Fitness held on to
- 29:46that location that is now the Jon Reed location, I would have
- 29:49kept going to the 24 hour. So yeah, the reason I went to
- 29:54Crunch was because 24 Hours closed down and Jon Reed took
- 29:57over that location. I've not been there, but I've
- 30:00seen enough grinder profile pics from the John Reed to know that
- 30:07it's probably 99% guys and 99% of those guys are gay.
- 30:13It's the more it's the it's yeah, it's it's pretty gay.
- 30:19I don't need to have been in there to tell you that.
- 30:22I did say I go to the gym just to pick heavy things up and put
- 30:27them down and repeat and go home.
- 30:29It's very true. However, I do you like some eye
- 30:35candy at the gym? I have some pretty decent eye
- 30:38candy at Crunch. Am I going to pay a bunch of
- 30:41extra money to have gay eye candy when I work out?
- 30:45Probably not, but I'm still curious to try out the John
- 30:50Reed. It is very nice.
- 30:51It's the only gym that's well, is it the only gym that's
- 30:56walking distance? The Equinox is walking distance,
- 30:59but again, I'm never going to go there.
- 31:01The two boutique there are two boutique gyms that are walking
- 31:05distance to me, but like they don't really do they don't focus
- 31:08on like having weights and resistance training.
- 31:12They won't have enough machines for me And then the capacity
- 31:15controlled and they're pretty expensive as well.
- 31:17So the Jon Reed is really the remotely feasible walking
- 31:24distance gym that I that's kind of in my budget, semi in my
- 31:30budget. So we'll see.
- 31:32Anyways, I was leaving the E OS today and it's in Beverly Center
- 31:37again. It's this big shopping center
- 31:38with a ton of parking. So they have a great parking
- 31:40situation. They validate parking for two
- 31:42hours and then I went over 2 hours beside the tour and
- 31:45everything. It was only a dollar so like so
- 31:47it was actually pretty cheap for parking and God bless this older
- 31:53lady that was in the car in front of me.
- 31:54I drove up to the exit. There was already a car in front
- 31:57of me. And clearly this the driver is
- 31:59trying to like pay for the parking ticket.
- 32:02There's a parking ticket machine at the elevator vestibule where
- 32:07you can pay for your parking before you go back to your car.
- 32:10You can also do it when you exit.
- 32:13And this person, I couldn't see what kind of person it was, but
- 32:17the car in front of me was clearly trying to pay for the
- 32:20whatever. At one point, she was just kind
- 32:23of like tapping the car all over the machine.
- 32:25And then eventually the driver's door opens.
- 32:30She gets out of her car and it's this old lady, bless her heart.
- 32:34And she's looking at me like she can't do it and like I need to
- 32:39back up so put my car into reverse.
- 32:42I don't know how you know how some cars the reverse lights are
- 32:47like really low on the bumper. So I think on my car the reverse
- 32:51lights are like really low on the bumper.
- 32:54So like the car behind me didn't see, but anyway, there's a Jeep
- 32:57behind me. So I put on my reverse.
- 33:00This clearly this person in front like she can't figure out
- 33:02the parking ticket, she can't figure out how to do it.
- 33:05We need to use another exit. So put my reverse lights on.
- 33:09And like, I didn't want to honk because in a parking garage, if
- 33:13you honk, it's really loud and it really reverberates.
- 33:16And my car is facing this lady in front of this old lady who's
- 33:20like out of the car. I don't want to give her like a
- 33:22heart attack. So my window was down.
- 33:24So like, I look in the rearview mirror.
- 33:26I can't quite see into the Jeep. So I poke my head out my
- 33:31driver's window and I look behind me and it's just like
- 33:34younger kid. He he probably just went to the
- 33:36gym in the Jeep and I can see that his head is down, but he's
- 33:39on the phone and like I'm waving and I'm like, hey, like I spent
- 33:46literally a good 20 seconds, if you count 123.
- 33:51I spent about 20 literal seconds trying to get his attention
- 33:55behind him. There were like two other cars
- 33:58that have not lined up behind him because it's like a little
- 33:59intersection. There were two other cars like
- 34:01behind him, but like on either side they've noticed.
- 34:04Even I can tell these two other cars have noticed.
- 34:06Like I'm trying to get this guy's attention.
- 34:08I started yelling him. I was like, hey, yo, dude, it's
- 34:10like, get off your phone. Blah. 20.
- 34:12Like he suddenly hears, I don't know, I don't know how he did
- 34:17it. He looks up and I told him like,
- 34:19hey, can you back up? There's this car in front of me.
- 34:22He can't get out. So now this Jeep backs up.
- 34:25But I was like, I've had to try that hard to get someone's
- 34:28attention. And when I raise my voice, I'm
- 34:30already pretty loud. You guys are probably talking a
- 34:32pretty loud person even though I'm onto a mic.
- 34:34But like, it was kind of farcical how hard I needed to
- 34:39try to get this kid's attention because I can't.
- 34:44He must have had some music. I couldn't hear it.
- 34:46It wasn't super loud from outside the car, but he must
- 34:48have like some music. He was clearly on his phone.
- 34:50Like, like it's whatever. It's like MBD.
- 34:53But like the how the amount of effort I had to go through to
- 34:58get this kid's attention was like, I don't know, a little.
- 35:03It was something I I don't think I've had to do that.
- 35:06Yeah. But anyways, got out of there
- 35:08and yeah, I had to pick up some groceries.
- 35:11So I went back to the Trader Joe's that I usually go to,
- 35:15which is where the crunch in Wijo is.
- 35:17It's the same complex. So I just needed to pick up a
- 35:21few things. Just some grocery.
- 35:23It's like, OK, I already in the car, it's like 5:00, almost rush
- 35:27hour. It's like, OK, I need grocery.
- 35:30So I went to the grocery place. I went to the Trader Joe's and
- 35:34that was pretty standard. The cashier asked me, oh, like,
- 35:37where are you going to the gym now, blah, blah, blah.
- 35:39I guess some of them recognize me from going to the gym and my
- 35:42gym closes all the time there and they know that the crunch is
- 35:44close enough. But there's an elevator that
- 35:46goes from that Trader Joe's down to the parking garage and the
- 35:50elevator only goes to two floors.
- 35:52It goes to Trader Joe's. It's inside the Trader Joe's.
- 35:56When you exit a elevator, it goes you're like in the middle
- 36:00of like the Trader Joe's. It doesn't exit all into the
- 36:02public area and it goes to P3. So I was waiting for it, you
- 36:08know, on my phone waiting for the elevator.
- 36:10Elevator opens and this guy is holding a bunch of flowers and
- 36:14he's, he looks confused, like he is trying to get to the parking
- 36:19garage and like he can't work the elevator or he doesn't know
- 36:22what floor it's on. And I'm thinking in my head, it
- 36:25only goes to two floors. It's Trader Joe's or parking.
- 36:29Like he swings open and he looks around like this is not where
- 36:33I'm supposed to be. I'm like, I don't see anything.
- 36:36So like I walk into the elevator and like he tries to like make
- 36:40small talk like, oh, I was like trying to get out of parking.
- 36:43And in my head I, I was already thinking it only goes to two
- 36:47floors. There's only two buttons on the
- 36:48elevator. It's ground and parking.
- 36:54It's GMP 3, so when he tried to make small talk, all I said was
- 37:01yeah, it only goes to two floors.
- 37:05I tried my best not to make it sound like so obvious, like,
- 37:08dude, it only goes to two floors.
- 37:09It's not like it goes to 20 different floors.
- 37:11And it's confusing where it goes.
- 37:13It's G and PV. There's only two buttons there,
- 37:16'cause I, I try to be, I don't know, sometimes the, the sarcasm
- 37:24can't be completely sanitize out of the things I say.
- 37:30If you're going to try to make small talk in a situation like
- 37:33that. I have been in situations where
- 37:35I did something completely stupid, but I have been there.
- 37:39It's like I, I pushed the wrong button.
- 37:41I didn't push the button in the elevator.
- 37:43Look, honestly, it's happened to all of us, OK?
- 37:46Just in that moment, I was like, yeah, I don't want to go to the
- 37:49two floors. And I was like, OK, yeah.
- 37:52So that was, that was my day yesterday.
- 37:54We tried the new gym. I'm hoping that if I go a little
- 37:58bit earlier because I'm on a free trial, so I'm going to keep
- 38:00going. If I go a little bit earlier,
- 38:02it'll be a little less busy. It wasn't too bad when I went
- 38:06today the first time, like between 3:00 and 4:00.
- 38:08But 3 and 4 is where it starts to pick up a little bit.
- 38:11So I'm trying to go like a little bit earlier.
- 38:14I still want to try out the John Reed, even though it's so
- 38:16expensive. But if they have this like
- 38:18discount for six months, you know, it might be OK to like tie
- 38:22me over for six months. We'll see.
- 38:24I do enjoy having hot gay guys working out around me though.
- 38:28Would would you not OK comment down below.
- 38:31Would you prefer to work out near hot gay guys just for eye
- 38:37candy? Like even if you weren't going
- 38:38to hit on them and they weren't looking at you, would you prefer
- 38:42to work out near hot gay eye candy?
- 38:45Maybe I got used to it working out at the Crunch.
- 38:48Not like the crunch was again, super busy, but it's like I got
- 38:52very used to the Crunch and how it's not packed any time that I
- 38:58went and there's there's a there's some decent I candy at
- 39:03the Crunch. Yeah.
- 39:04Let me know what you think. So yeah, I am going to cook
- 39:09dinner now. We're cooking rice and chicken
- 39:13and hot dogs. I slice up the hot dogs so
- 39:15they're in like little bite size pieces in my rice.
- 39:19I said I'm like 3 years old. The chicken I used to slice up,
- 39:23but I got too lazy. So it's just like this one chunk
- 39:27of chicken thighs and then I have it with my rice, little
- 39:32salt, little pepper, little rice vinegar.
- 39:34So that's my dinner tonight. So again, go check out the new
- 39:39YouTube videos from the Atlanta Symphony Cruise that I took.
- 39:43Oh, I am releasing on my Patreon for my upper tier subscribers
- 39:49the vlog from that Symphony cruise, which is a Patreon
- 39:54exclusive, mid tier magnet and upper tier OPA subscribers.
- 39:59They got the first part of the Symphony vlog this week, this
- 40:04past Tuesday, and it's going to be at least four, maybe 5 parts
- 40:08because I vlogged actually quite a bit on that cruise.
- 40:11And there's going to be another travel vlog from when I go on
- 40:14the Atlantis cruise. In a couple, in like 3 weeks in
- 40:18April, there's an LA Meso cruise with Volantis.
- 40:20I'm going on that one. Obviously I would do the travel
- 40:22vlog for that as well. And I still owe you guys a
- 40:25travel vlog that I didn't publish from my Taiwan trip in
- 40:29October or November. It was kind of a boring trip.
- 40:31I think I made a decision back then to like not post, but it
- 40:34was kind of boring. But I will probably end up
- 40:37posting it. So a lot of travel vlogs, travel
- 40:41vlogs are returning. I know I had a low in travel
- 40:43vlogs early this year because I wasn't travelling that much,
- 40:46just working on the businesses. But yeah, travel vlogs are
- 40:51coming back. So you're interested Now would
- 40:53be a great time to try and upgrade to the magnet or the top
- 40:57tier OPA tier. You get access, instant access
- 41:00all of the previous travel vlogs that have ever been posted, and
- 41:04you'll also get the upcoming travel vlogs for Symphony and
- 41:08also for the April Atlantis LA Mexico cruise.
- 41:11But until next time, bye y'all.
