- 0:21her chicken coop along with all her chickens.
- 0:28Hey, everybody. Good morning from the chicken
- 0:29coop. So I am a mad list maker.
- 0:32It's just a thing for me. I think it's very helpful to see
- 0:35things on paper. I don't like keeping lists
- 0:39electronically because I feel like when they're out of sight,
- 0:41they're out of mind. But when you can put them, it's
- 0:44convenience to capture it in your phone.
- 0:45But then you can put it on paper so you can actually see it
- 0:47after. But today we are talking about
- 0:50lists that are extremely useful to us in the sense of developing
- 0:54ourselves. Not that all lists aren't useful
- 0:57in my world. But developing yourself.
- 0:59So think of it like this. We all have parts of ourselves
- 1:02that we want to make bigger and stronger.
- 1:05And we all have parts of ourselves that we just yearn to
- 1:10create. We have not even like we had
- 1:12this yearning to do, learn something or do something
- 1:15different. And then we have the parts of
- 1:17ourselves that we don't want to keep but.
- 1:20We rarely work on this stuff. We just kind of say, Oh yeah,
- 1:23someday. And the some days are what kill
- 1:26us. The some days are the things
- 1:27that make us so sad because we never get there.
- 1:31We rarely put it on the list and make it a priority.
- 1:35That's why part of my role working with clients is to
- 1:38constantly make sure that when they tell me those things, we
- 1:41are developing those. And putting them into place in
- 1:44their regular, everyday life. Because if you don't, you won't
- 1:47create the new habits. And I know I'm just as guilty of
- 1:49that as the next person. You know, Full disclosure, I
- 1:53love to walk. I walk all day long while I talk
- 1:55to my clients and I can't function unless I'm walking.
- 2:01That being said, I absolutely hate doing the grinding of going
- 2:06to the gym, lifting weights, doing that stuff.
- 2:08I hate it. I just there's nothing about it
- 2:10that I like. I'm not sure if it's the ride to
- 2:13the gym, the wasted time, the being in the gym, the smell, the
- 2:17whole thing. It just doesn't work for me.
- 2:20So I have to forcibly put myself in the position of saying okay,
- 2:25this is actually on my schedule. I'm developing it because I want
- 2:28the outcome from that action, but I just don't like the parts
- 2:33of it and I it it, it's just not something that comes it it
- 2:38organically I would say in that way.
- 2:41And plus, when you're out here working on the farm all the
- 2:42time, you feel like, Oh no, I'm totally getting enough.
- 2:45And I probably technically am getting enough, but it's not
- 2:49where I want to be. So anyway, giving you an
- 2:51example, when you start to think about this stuff and you sit
- 2:55down and you start to make these lists for yourself, this
- 2:58requires radical honesty. Just like my going to the gym
- 3:02thing, it requires the honesty of saying no.
- 3:07I'm going to use my ability to be critical.
- 3:11And give myself feedback, not to beat myself up, but to help
- 3:14myself get to where I want to go.
- 3:16So this is an exercise of putting yourself in a on a path
- 3:20to create a better version of yourself.
- 3:24It's not meant to deplete you. This is completely just
- 3:27informational. But you've got to have radical
- 3:29honesty about how you feel about things and not not just, you
- 3:34know. Lie to yourself about the fact
- 3:36that there's something that's OK.
- 3:38If something's OK or it's fine. And you know, if you're a woman
- 3:41and you're listening to this and, you know, we have a
- 3:43tendency to use those two words when we're not either of those
- 3:46things. If we say we're OK or we're
- 3:48fine, we're not either of those things.
- 3:51We're just trying to keep it together and trying to seem like
- 3:54everything is OK And that's the part that you have to get past.
- 3:58That's the gatekeeper, so to speak, so.
- 4:02As you sit down to do this and you make your columns and you
- 4:04can add more columns if you want to, those are just the three
- 4:07that I like to stick to. If you sit down and you get
- 4:11really comfortable being honest about it, first and foremost,
- 4:14it's very helpful. So you have to just think in
- 4:17terms of okay this is, this is a way for me to curate the things
- 4:23I want, get rid of the things that I don't, and I'm not going
- 4:26to beat myself up for it. I'm just going to take an
- 4:28inventory. The first step is taking the
- 4:30inventory. Once you go through all of it
- 4:34and you have the inventory, then it's a question of okay, what
- 4:37things do you want to put in place to actually make it
- 4:41happen? So for instance, for me that was
- 4:44one of the things about, you know, just walking.
- 4:47I ended up getting a Nordic track bike and I it comes with
- 4:52all different exercise programs that are part of the whole
- 4:55program. So I can sit there and I can
- 4:58actually work out and do different workouts.
- 5:01I can actually get the workouts I need and be still feeling good
- 5:05about it. And that's important.
- 5:07I can't stress how important that is.
- 5:11That's something I chose to put into play other things.
- 5:14OK, having the stuff around that you need.
- 5:16If I want to work on art and I'm not doing it, I have to make
- 5:19sure I have the right supplies I have to entice myself.
- 5:22So like for example, this week I want to learn to do these
- 5:26botanical drawings and so I got a class.
- 5:29I'm watching the class and I'm going to pick up the.
- 5:33Supplies that I need. I still am missing like a few
- 5:36pens. So I'm going to go pick up the
- 5:38pens and then I'm going to put that in because that makes me
- 5:40feel good that the enrichment and the betterment of my brain
- 5:45is happening at that point in time and my creativity.
- 5:47So and and then I'm going to schedule time every week to do
- 5:52it. See, that's the key.
- 5:53You have to schedule it. It has to be on your schedule.
- 5:57So make your list, see what you come up with, and actually put
- 6:01your things on the schedule. All right, my friends, I will
- 6:05talk to you tomorrow and I hope you have a blessed day.
- 6:07Bye.
